La Usurpadora - Capitulo 2 - The best laid plans of mice and men...

Mexico City, 2019. Independence Day. First Lady is shot as the whole family was stepping onto the balcony to greet those who gathered. The chaos ensues. President is quickly ushered away, so are the kids. A few people put the First Lady on the stretcher. She has a bleeding wound in her shoulder, which one of her attendants is trying to plug with a tepid pressure of their index finger. We agree that it doesn’t look all that life-threatening, but c’mon….

Out in the ocean paradise Paola continues to shock poor Gonzalo with her cold attitude celebrating Paulina’s presumed death and her independence. Paulina got what she deserved, she stole from Paola first and now they are even (presumably that refers to their childhood separation). Paola and Gonzalo now have their whole life ahead of them. But Gonzalo looks like is mentally counting the amount of sharp objects in Paola’s immediate reach, and calculating the price of a ticket to Timbuktu.

Commotion continues outside of the palace and SWAT team is getting ready to storm the room the shot came from (they figured that out fast!). Manuel’s evil looking female accomplice is lurking in the background. SWAT team storms the place and finds the amateur photographer tied up and knocked out. No sniper in sight.

Gonzalo finally regains control enough to vocalize his surprise and disgust. How could Paola murder her sister, the supposed First Lady? In addition to being cruel, this is stupid, because now Gonzalo will draw attention to himself with Paola next to him. Paola is upset that the pot is calling the kettle black – Gonzalo’s “business” is killing millions of people. He has a wonderfully illogical retort to that – it’s just a “business”, he says. (Sure, Gonzalo, and what you just watched on TV was a regular Independence Day…) He doesn’t want to be with her any more, takes off the ring she gave him and storms out. Paola flips out, but not before taking another sip of her martini: “Carajo!!” (I am beginning to like this word. Mental note to incorporate into vocabulary for when something annoying happens. Best translation I found is “crap”, which is fairly mild as far as swear words go, if the translation is correct).

First family arrives home, everyone is shaken up. Lisette wants to go see Paola, but Carlos asks her to stay home. A few hours later everyone is getting ready to head to the hospital. Paola is critical, says General Pascual.

Emilio is hiding in his room and drinking. With a severe case of PTSD, not helped by his alcohol dependence, he is afraid someone will shoot him through the window. Juana wisely points out that she lived in this house for over 30 years with multiple families, and no one ever got shot, but alcohol destroyed many. With that swift kick in the rear, Juana departs, asking Emilio to get ready. Before they leave for the hospital, Carlos asks Gema to get Nava (detective whose appearance we’ve been waiting for) involved in this for a parallel investigation. Gema thinks this is not the greatest idea, but Carlos insists.

At a casino, Paola’s adoptive mother Arcadia is playing a very focused game of cards, oblivious to whispers around her of people discussing the national tragedy. Meanwhile Paola is still upset that Gonzalo left and is impersonating a manicomio patient quite faithfully by breaking a bunch of items and screaming.

Gema arrives to retrieve Nava, who is…shall we say otherwise occupied at the moment with a sock on his door. He quickly prepares for a fight though, as soon as he hears the helicopter landing, but is relieved to see Gema. Get dressed and let’s go, she says – there is a national tragedy and not a moment to waste. He is given two minutes to gather his items. Gema is not a woman who likes to waste time, and even those two minutes can be put to good use. While she waits, she phones Carlos to tell him the whole country is waiting for him to give a speech and offer some explanations. She must have been hitting Google and Facebook hard on that helicopter ride over, so she knows that there are all sorts of rumors circulating. They need to be squashed. Carlos agrees.

Gonzalo returns to see Paola, but she is gone… He is upset and tries to weigh his options. Paola, we find out, went to a salon to get a haircut for her new character, and is sipping on a whiskey while in the chair. (I need the name of her hairstylist. Mine barely offers me water…)

Gema brings Nava to the crime scene and he is surprised. He thought he is here in the capacity of a friend, but to his surprise finds out he is an investigator. He doesn’t have the credentials he says, but Gema is insistent.

Elsewhere Carlos gives that speech and presumably calms all the country’s social media experts, who were tweeting up the panic. All is well that ends well.

Emilio continues to freak out. This time Pascual is the one to calm him down. Let’s talk about Pascual for a second. This general is everywhere – he keeps a top of what’s going on with the protests (fair enough), he chats with doctors to update Carlos on Paola’s condition, he is there to comfort Emilio and also to perform the duties of a press secretary during Carlos’s speech. Either he is really good at multitasking, or Televisa wanted to save on the number of extras they had running around….

Nava interrogates the old man, whose hotel room the sniper took over. The old man says he doesn’t know anything and was knocked out. Nava would like to analyze the ashes of his wife for evidence. Poor man is really scared – it’s not a corpse he says, just ashes. He is escorted out for further interrogation “just in case”. A young investigator boy, who was running this scene before Nava shows up, thinks the old man doesn’t know anything. But his camera does, says Nava and orders the boy to print all of those photos. The boy respectfully asks if Nava is in charge, because he was not informed. Gema enters and says that he is, by the orders of the President. Boy scampers away to do as he was bid.

Paola continues drinking and getting more and more drunk. Paulina is in the hospital unconscious. Her mother Doña Olga and her comadre are praying, because Olga is feeling uneasy, like something is missing. She felt that way before. Comadre knows she is talking about her other daughter. Olga wonder how she is, if she is happy, muses that she might have grandchildren she knows nothing about. The subject of this musings, in the meantime, has gotten so drunk that she passed out at a random party. She is eventually found by Gonzalo (she must have been emitting a bat-signal, and that’s how he found her so quickly) and carried away.

Paulina wakes up and everyone at the Presidential residence, who receives the news, is overjoyed. Everyone, except Manuel that is, who realizes their plan is about to go down the toilet and tries to get in touch with Paola (unsuccessfully). Paulina is distressed however, wants to go home and asks for help, so she is quickly sedated. The next morning Carlos comes to see her and she asks to talk alone. She is about to spill the beans to him about the impersonation, when Arcadia storms in with a myriad of whimpers and cries for her poor daughter, who is dying in the hospital and no one even told Arcadia! Both Arcadia and Carlos are ushered out, as they are beginning to upset Paulina. Arcadia continues her whimpers and whines as she exits, aiming arrows at Carlos and guilts Gema into offering her breakfast and coffee at the hospital café. She finishes her tirade by stating that Gema would have been a better president.

Gema takes Carlos to see Nava. Nava is uncertain he should take up the assignment, but Carlos’s desperation convinces him. He clarifies that he is doing it for their friendship and he needs total freedom, an assistant and an office within the presidential mansion.

Manuel is skulking around the hospital and talks on the phone to his evil accomplice Teresa. Incidentally it looks like he and Teresa also live together, so I guess they are siblings? Teresa says there is too much security and she cannot get inside to finish the job, so the pressure is on Manuel to do it.

Nava is recruiting the investigator boy to be his assistant. Boy is unsure and asks questions about Nava’s past. Nava finds an interesting photo among those printed from the old man’s camera and sends the boy to enlarge it. (The old man is apparently an American (gringo) – go figure!)

Doña Olga is planning a party for Paulina’s return. Wilson is invited and worries if Paulina will be upset, but Olga thinks Paulina had time to cool off and change her mind. They call her to confirm the arrival time, but the call goes to voicemail.

Manuel accompanies Lisette to the hospital and, while she is not looking, steals her phone. He then tells her that Piedad has been calling his phone for Lisette, as Lisette is not answering her own. Lisette leaves to call her grandmother and Manuel is about to inject something into Paulina’s IV, when Carlos enters and thwarts that plan.

Paola is finally awake and fully back to her senses. Gonzalo is angry at her for taking off, she is not too happy with him either. It doesn’t matter, he says. He almost lost her and that made him realize he wants to be with her and get a fresh start somewhere new where no one knows them. Paola is on board with that and peace is restored.

Gema is trying to calm the omnipresent Pascual about Nava’s presence. Pascual is not having any of it though – Nava must go y ja!

Nava meanwhile found something on the hotel security cameras: a man (sniper) entering the hotel but not leaving. The assistant is sent to look through the whole roll.

Carlos and Lisette are visiting with Paulina. Carlos exits to take a call and Paulina borrows Lisette’s phone, while Lis goes to the restroom. She calls home and Wilson answers. Over his questions on whether she is there with another man, she tells him she needs to stay in Mexico indefinitely for now and needs him to take care of her mom. She then needs to hang up.

Manuel finally gets Paola on the phone. The plan has failed he announces, the pesky sister is still alive. You need to come back. Pobre de Manuel. I am expecting she will burn his ears off over the phone waves with her rage in tomorrow’s episode. Stay tuned!

Ria, I love your lively writing style with lots of sly humor. I was chuckling all the way through. Thank you so much for recapping for us!

This is a really nice production, very slick. It seems like it’s all there – does anyone know if it’s been cut? Some of us just finished Juntos, also a short series, and they had cut one-third of it!! Just a mess. If Jarifa hadn’t been recapping all of it, who knows what would have become of us? I kept getting confused, but she saved our bacon. I sure hope they don’t cut this one.

Fantastic title Ria.

This was great right out of the gate: “She has a bleeding wound in her shoulder, which one of her attendants is trying to plug with a tepid pressure of their index finger”. Excellent.

“Carajo!!”, "impersonating a manicomio patient" and "(I need the name of her hairstylist. Mine barely offers me water…)" were only a few of my favorites.

“Gonzalo looks like is mentally counting the amount of sharp objects in Paola’s immediate reach”. Exactly! Yet, his disgust and outrage quickly faded. He the obviously remembered me has no morals and despite that his life as a fugitive in and of itself puts him in grave peril, he goes back for more...

"Manuel is skulking around the hospital and talks on the phone to his evil accomplice Teresa". So they are sibs? Thank you for pointing that out. Teresa radiates a rather expressionless icy evil, quite a contrast to Paola's fiery, red hot lack of soul.

Bad boy Manuel radiates hawtness. I'm not sure how I feel about Nava but with snakes slithering toward Paulina at every turn, he seems to be her first, best and only hope.

Maggie, I don't know if anything has been cut. Yes, if it weren't for Jarifa, I would have been lost.

Ria, this was fanatastic. Thank you so much.

Diana

Thank you, Ria, for another outstanding recap. In reference to the omnipresent Pascual “Either he is really good at multitasking, or Televisa wanted to save on the number of extras . . . “ had me laughing. I vote for #2.

Maggie, Diana so far so good. It seems like it is all here. ; )

Diana, Gonzalo really does have a thing for Paola. Too bad. He didn’t miss a beat in wanting to get back with her.

Hmmmm . . .

I want to know how why Facundo Nava is on the outs. Why does everyone give him the stink eye? Were he, Carlos and Gema “the three musketeers”?

So, the photographer wanted to take “his wife” to the Independence Day celebration. That was funny.

Of course, Paulina’s mother Olga would “know” something was not quite right.

It seems that the shooting might have given Carlos some time In dealing with his political problems.

Now that Manuel has failed to kill Paulina, will Paola give him another chance of show up to finish the job herself?

Thanks so much Ria...You have just the right amount of snark. I love "re-watching" this through your eyes, and often find myself nodding along..yes, exactly my reaction. Some of my favorite lines were:

But Gonzalo looks like is mentally counting the amount of sharp objects in Paola’s immediate reach, and calculating the price of a ticket to Timbuktu.

[adoptive mother] "playing a very focused game of cards" Sure looks like Paola's mom is a gambling addict. And a lousy mother. But I love that actress. She can play saints or sinners and anything in between very well.

Nava--otherwise occupied at the moment with a sock on the door. Ah, Nava, okay, quickly established that he's a stud in addition to a crack investigator. Works for me.

Paola--"Emitting a bat signal" so Gonzalo could find her so quickly. It was a relief that she simply passed out with no harm done other than a haircut and a hangover. Shen she was carousing at the bar, I feared something much worse was going to happen to her. In real life, it probably would have.

Surprised that Gonzalo seems to be genuinely smitten (at least for now). And can't imagine rambunctiously kissing someone who just threw up!!!! Ah, but passion overrides everything I guess.

Enjoying this maiden voyage tremendously and you make it even better with your wry, humorous recaps. Thanks so much.

Thank youn, Ria for that fun, lively recap of this fast moving episode.

Before I go on, I have to comment on Judy's " rambunctious kissing " comment. Ha.

The actress playing Paola's mother was the main actress Adele Noriego' s aunt in Amor Real. I have seen her in several other shows since then . She is fantastic.

Paola seems to be out OF control and her own worst enemy which means she is also her twin's worst enemy , too.

Okay, I am fastening my seatbelt. We're off.

"LU":

Ria: Enjoyed your recap. It seems like Paola is hell-bent on killing Paulina by any means necessary.

Jarifa: Something tells me Gonzalo won't be around in the long-run. Just a Jesse Stone hunch...

Judy: I do NOT trust Gema at all: that girl wants to be First Lady too just look at the Body Language. I hope we get to dig into her backstory soon.

I believe Facundo will be a key player in all of this chaos, just watch. He'll be very critical in this Telenovela.

Susanlynn: I like to know what did Facundo do to get kicked out of law enforcement ?

Thanks everyone!!

Maggie - it doesn’t look like anything is being cut yet, but we’ll see as we go forward. So far looks like they are cutting fillers like travel time, which IMO is very nice actually. Makes the story go forward quicker.

Diana - agreed on Nava!! We’ll see how this story develops. In contrast Carlos seems oblivious to any changed in Paola/lina. And yes, Gonzalo did quite a fast 180 from being appalled back to lovey-dovey.

Jarifa - I wonder about what Paola will do too. Manuel seems to panic quickly when plans go awry, so she may not trust him to finish the job...

JudyB - indeed, I was worried about what might happen to Paola in that state of inebriation too. She got lucky. You had me laughing out loud with your line on kissing someone who threw up - that’s brave indeed!!

Susanlynn - I love Ana Bertha Espin too, very versatile actress.

Steve - I think we’ll see quite a few more (hopefully botched) attempts on Paulina’s life from Paola. She seems to think she needs her GONE!

"LU":

Ria: I should also note Paulina's Mommy, her BFF Comrade, Wilson & Co., from Colombia are going to become major players in this Telenovela soon.

Like I said earlier, Gema badly wants to be First Lady or maybe even President of Mexico down the road. How far will her political ambitions go ?

Plus: I like to know how Carlos' 1st wife died because they never even mentioned it.

Greetings, Patio!

I'm late to the party, but sometimes I'd rather be late because I get to enjoy all the insightful comments and nod along with everyone's take on the episode. Ria, you are such a gifted writer...and I love the snark, thank you!!

I too fear something much worse would happen to Paola, but I suppose the writers just didn't want to go there (to my relief). What I want to know is how Carlos and this crazy sociopath hooked up. Was it an arranged marriage/marriage of convenience? And I too want to know how Carlos's first wife died. Emi's reaction was a little over the top; so was his mother's death violent? Inquiring minds want to know!

Teresa is actually Manuel's wife! So why does she hate Paola so much; she could kill Paola simply with her looks.

Oophh.. gtg..be back later.

Ria--Masterful retelling. You were born and groomed for telenovela recapping. Fantastic recap. You picked a great story, too. So glad you are here. More later, must attend to critical timing on bread-making.

Thank you, Ria, for the witty and complete recap--the best way to handle a melodrama like this one, which would do Bette Davis proud! I too loved your ticket to Timbuktu comment. At least Paulina's family and friends in Colombia know she's alive, though "delayed."

Steve - indeed, mystery on Susana’s cause of death!

Rgv Chick - thank you! And fashionably late is always elegant ;) Also I want to know too how Carlos and Paola got together - she must have controlled her crazy long enough or at least until they married.

Thanks, Anita! Good luck on the bread - what kind are you baking?

SpanProf - yes, I was relieved too she let her family know she is alright!

Ria , about adding "carajo" to my personal lexicon . Is it a rude, crude word? I once said " maldito " and got some surprising looks. I do have a new favorite word from thelitforum.com where they discuss Outlander. That new word is " presto bingo" ...which makes me smile and won't offend anyone.

"Emitting a bat signal" ...ha...well , she is BSC.

RgvChick, so Manuel and Teresa are married? Gulp. What little I've learned over my past decade of TN viewing is astounding...Ack.

Steve, I believe you were the first one to bring up the fact Carlos' first wife died but we have no details. It will be interesting too to hear Paola and Carlos' backstory. I doubt she had a personality transplant after they married so he must have seen something behind/beyond the lovely physical image. Right?

Susanlynn, I like "presto bingo" :)

Ria, can't wait to see what you cook up tonight!

Diana

Susanlynn - I am not sure. I looked it up yesterday and it mostly was translated as crap. But google translate today is telling a different story, so maybe it’s safer to keep it out of our everyday vocabulary for now. I don’t have enough slang usage knowledge unfortunately to confirm or refute. But we have heard Carlos use the word too and the TN is in prime time, so can’t be too bad maybe? Mystery for now...

Diana - I actually think Manuel and Teresa are siblings. I think I heard her call him “hermanito”. Will need to pay attention in the next few episodes.

This story could go anywhere. My gut feelings, so far:

The obvious evil intentions of Teresa, Manuel and Paola won't succeed or there'd be no love story to look forward to or end well. Hmmm, we have to be careful these days, look what happened in La Candidata (in which "Manuel" was also a scheming bastard with a secret life).

In play is Col. Pascual--is he on the side of the President or not--TBD. Juana is the perfect sterotype of the "battle-axe" of yore, but she seems to give a little, at least where Emilio is concerned. If she's served several families for 30 years, she knows her job and is loyal to the presidency.

Will Paulina's Colombian "family" really show up in MCDF? Or will Paola head for Bogota with Gonzalo? (I was surprised she didn't change her hair color when she got it cut, but then it's just a story, just not ours to write.) I bet Gonzalo won't want to leave his lucrative "businesses." Neither would Paola want to work with children and live a lower middle class life, doubling as Paulina. Did anyone catch the name of Paulina's co-worker at the shelter?

I must apologize profusely for MIS-identifying Gema as the girl in Un Camino and in Un Poquito Tuyo. They sure do resemble each other. Gema was actually in EVA LUNA, oh, so long ago. She was Marisol, who wanted to marry a rich guy.

Ria--Again, compliments on giving us two excellent repasts to savor. With you writing, I'm going to enjoy this along with all the comments.

The bread--I make all kinds of breads. These loaves are from a recipe for No-Knead Crusty Bread. The original recipe is for white flour, but I reduce the amount and add freshly ground whole wheat, semolina flour and 5 kinds of seeds. It is yummy and makes the most wonderful toast (and, as we found out recently, French toast, too). It was requested I make more.....

Susanlynn--Carajo is pretty crude, along with pendejo. These are, I think, associated with the Spanish that's further south, then moved north. Not too long ago JudyB gave us a lexicon of "bad words." I'll try to find the episode, unless she can provide it.

Diana--I wonder if maybe Carlos was smitten with Paola by her beauty and grace, but didn't know her long enough to see her real personality--grasping, selfish, short tempered, resentful, envious, ambitious, and all the rest. I'm wondering if she didn't get pregnant with Lisette when she didn't want to "settle down" yet, even with an up and coming politico. There must be a reason why she resents this innocent child. You'd think she'd be in seventh heaven as Primera Dama of Mexico. And we need to know how she met Gonzalo and what state her relationship with Carlos was when she did. Could he have been so distracted by his career arc to have ignored her? Hmmm. All kinds of possibilities.

If I'm not mistaken, in the first episode Paola mentioned her psychiatrist when talking to Carlos at dinner, so he definitely knows she has some sort of mental disorder.

Rose

Ria, terrific job. Loved trying to plug with a tepid pressure of their index finger. We agree that it doesn’t look all that life-threatening, but c’mon….
I'm totally indebted to you for my understanding of what happened last night -- and I am going to use "Carajo!" the first chance I get.

Nice to see the Nava actor (Arap Bethke) again. Not a traditional galan look, but I enjoyed him in La Piloto 1 and 2.

The cutie president doesn't seem to have the drive to run a country. But at least he is smart enough to bring in an investigator he can trust

Nobody seeing Paulina two sheets to the wind noticed that she was the splitting image of the First Lady of Mexico? I guess they don't watch the news.

Ria, your recap was superb. So is this tn.

I'm not so sure that Carlos is having
A thing with gema. But I do think she maybe In love with the prez. She gave Paola that deadly look. Or who she thought was paola.

Now the guy that nobody wants around,
Whats The deal with him? He seems to know his stuff, but what happened to
His position in law inforcement? Many
Questions. And The answers will come rather quickly. Only 22 episodes left.

So now the little gun-runner wants to spend the rest of his life with this psycho who hate a sister she's blaming
For something she had nothing to do with. She hates her mother and sister, cuz she was unfortunate to be adopted by a gambling adict. What if something else comes up and he get blamed for it
And he had nothing to do with it? He better sleep with one eye open and the
9 millimeter under his pillow.

I would love to know bout the story of Manuel. He looks like he dont want to do the stuff she tells him, but he'll do it anyway just not tobe aggravated.
And that weird flightattended/hitlady/
Custodian....what is her reason for the insanity pill shes taken? In about two weeks we should have most of the answers to some of these questions. In the meantime I'll sit back and watch this fun insanity with the rest of the
Patio.

Thank you Ria, you hit it girl.

Ria
thanks once again for an excellent recap. I really love your editorial comments, they are very fitting.
Lester

Niecie in MD, I thought for sure the people around the sloshed Paola knew who she was,but it appears they didn't
. I wasn't concerned about her gettin
Harmed, the heffa just tried to kill her sister. Besides that engine is the
Reason for the show. She has to stay alive to make everybody's life a Livin
Hell. This actress is really good.

Nina--
BoraBora is quite a distance from Mexico City, resort or not. It would be unlikely anyone would spot the resemblance of the gal 4 sheets to the wind with the Primera Dama. Of course, she got shot--that would make the news world-wide I would think. However, I also don't think she was circulating very much when sober--she was bein' too busy with Gonzo.

When she passed out, my thought was that the two women who came over were going to rob her, but they rummaged around in her purse and then left her there.

Do I really want to get in the weeds and wonder how she got to Bora Bora? What kind of passport and credit cards did she use? I know, documents can be falsified, but still, where is she getting the money to live on? Maybe the original version was pre-TSA and everybody used cash. Gaahh, it's just a story. time to grab the beanie, just in case.

Anita...I guess Gonzo is paying her way , ....good date that he is.

Good point, Susanlynn. Great opportunity to launder some ill-gotten gains.

And did you notice that it appears to be night at the same time in Mexico and Bora Bora? Is that possible? Kind of reminds me of how when some tns want to show that a night has passed, there's always a quick picture of a skyline with a full moon, even if it's supposed to be a 2nd night a week later.

"LU":

RGV Chick: I hope I'm wrong, but I'm getting the Jesse Stone hunch that Gema or somebody else had a hand in the death of Carlos' 1st wife.

Plus, what's Pascual's angle in all of this chaos ? What's his real game ?

Span Prof: Knowing Paola, she would have Paulina's Mommy, BFF Comrade & those kids whacked in Colombia. That girl is downright NUTS.

Anita: I do NOT see Paola getting her anvil until the final episode...

"And that weird flightattended/hitlady/
Custodian....what is her reason for the insanity pill shes taken" was spot on Nina. As was the rest of what you had to say. So glad you are here!

SpanProf, spot on comment about the passage of time a la telenovela.

Anita, the thought of your home made bread had me salivating. And crusty bread? My weakness. I'm sure Carlos was first attracted by Paola's beauty. Whether or not she showed her true colors initially is uncertain. What is certain is that he now has seen every single evil facet of her very flawed diamond and cannot or will not extricate himself.

Diana

Anita...glad you let Ria know how vulgar carajo is. I don't think I was the one who made a list of bad words, but that is a bad one and any swear word, for some reason, is offensive when used by a non-native speaker. It just seems WRONG. And sounds WRONG. So I'm careful not to swear in Spanish, although I might let slip an innocuous Dios mio. I once knew a Palestinian man, very spiritual, very intelligent, very sensitive, but as a surgeon who'd done his residency in the US, he'd picked up a lot of harsh swear words from his colleague. And it just sounded awful in his mouth. Totally wrong. So, in general, I think it's best to avoid those expressions.

And I still laugh when I think of a long time ago French friend who was trying to show off his grasp of American slang, and when we were teasing him about something, he said, "Ooooh, you are PUSHING my leg." Nope Francois, we were PULLING it. Too bad. So sad.

Maybe it was Sylvia Sharkbait who made the list of naughty words.

Judyb....yes, I have had to tell some of my ESL students that some words are not for polite society . I have also heard from my Spanish speaking students that some common words in Spanish have naughty meanings certain countries. And some common words English sound m me words with a bad meaning in another language. It's all complicated.

Anita - thanks very much! Glad you are enjoying the recaps. Your bread sounds delicious, no wonder you were requested to make more! I would have never thought of semolina flour - will need to add that to my repertoire as well to try.

Anita, Susanlynn and Judy B - thanks for the clarifications about carajo. This one seems to be one to keep on the shelf and out of the everyday expressions!

Niecie - very happy that the recaps are useful and thanks! You know, I thought the same about no one recognizing Paulina's likeness to one of the public figures, especially even at home, but those two girls too! I suppose Mexican news doesn't reach Colombia indeed.

Great work, Ria!

What's with the miniseries thing at Televisa? And the actors are talking so much faster.

Anyway, Sandra Echevarria's acting has certainly improved and it looks like this is a star turn for her in a story that's going a mile a minute. Nothing new to say except that I nominate But Gonzalo looks like is mentally counting the amount of sharp objects in Paola’s immediate reach, and calculating the price of a ticket to Timbuktu. for the sidebar.

Thanks, UA! I also noticed that they talk very fast here, especially Sandra. Her speech sped up quite a bit since I last saw her in a TN.
