La Usurpadora - Capitulo 9

Recap by Princess Juju

This is going to be short because it's 1:00 am and I worked like 13 hours today, or rather yesterday.

Manuel is snooping and learns that Paulina has a plan to escape and that Monse, her nurse is in on it. He runs to his lair to inform Paola and Terrible Terry of this development, they agree that they can't attempt to kill Paulina again but perhaps they can neutralize her and a diabolical plan is born. Although I guess this plan isn't as bad as the initial plan to kidnap an innocent woman in order to force her to pretend to be Paola only to later kill her on national tv.

Emilio, having run away from home (again) goes out and gets drunk. Seriously his security people need to be fired because they blow, they had one job you guys, one job! Unfortunately for Emilio, he and his buddy get caught at a DUI checkpoint, he tries to bribe the police officers with tacos and although this is a solid plan the officers reject his offer, to make matters worse there are several civilians filming the whole thing. Worry not Emilio, the Bush sisters survived their fair share of scandals and so will you, hopefully.

Elsewhere Carlos is upset and orders Nava to help him find out who leaked the information about his first wives suicide, only a small group of people knew the truth, Nava with the assistance of Pascual get the phone records of a man name Fajul who they believe was responsible for spreading the information to the media, the question is, who gave him the information?

This is where my man Pedro shines! He looks over some video and finds footage of Fajul entering a church and a few minutes later a woman also arrives at the church and looks straight into the camera, and that's how poor Paulina gets framed.

Carlos is trying to get along better with Emilio and apologizes for keeping the truth from him and in the process causing him pain, Emilio does not accept the apology and tells Carlos that perhaps he should have concentrated on not causing his late wife so much pain. Solid burn man.

Carlos days get worse, he has to give a whole press conference and admit that his son has an alcohol problem, then a reporter asks whether the rumors of his first. wife committing suicide are true and Carlos denies that is the case, but he is a terriblest liar.

Other small things: We learn that Pedro's father is a military police officer. and that Pedro is his pride and joy but Pedro is gay and has a partner that he has been with for two years, he tells Nava he understands if he no longer wants him to work for him but Nava tells him not to be silly and asks him to call him "tu" instead of the more formal "usted" Pedro tells him calls him "usted" because he is the same age as his father.

Paulina tries to talk to Emilio but Emilio won't have anything to do with her but later in the episode he talks with Gemma who tells him he needs to get his life together and stop blaming his father for everything that goes wrong in his life.

Diego wants out- he likes Lissett and doesn't want to continue with the farce, in fact he won't even charge for the work he has already done but his uncle tells him that the only way out of their little project is in a body bag.

I love grandma because she has a nifty scooter and asks the important and relevant questions, such as "who is going to feed us dinner"

Arcaida is a trash panda who steals silverware.

Nava drinks Modelo but it's the gross Modelo and he might as well be drinking pee.

We also learn that a woman was killed in the accident that caused Susana's death, Gemma and Nava covered it up and even Carlos has no idea that someone else died in the accident, Gemma promises to pay the woman's husband off but warns him not to push the issue to far or things won't go well for him.

Now to the evil plot. Paola pretends to be in a manic state and goes to her doctor, she tells him "they" are trying to kill her by putting poison in her food and she pretends to believe that her body is covered in hives, this in combination with Paulina's repeated denials of being the woman in the security footage leads Carlos to believe that she has lost all her marbles. It doesn't help matters when Paulina learns that her overseas tour has been cancelled for months, she breaks down in tears and to the casual observer it looks like the woman is mentally unstable. Carlos decides that he needs to keep her out of the public view and has her doctor and his assistants pick her up to take her to an inpatient clinic for treatment. The plan worked.

A few words to Carlos: You are dumb, have zero personality and maybe if you had focused more of your attention on your family your son would not be a raging alcoholic and your daughter wouldn't be two steps away from OD'ing on potato chips.

Princess, you blew me out of the water.

Tongue in cheek, full of snark, yet the details were spot on - just excellent from the first word forward.

You hit the ground running, with”… he tries to bribe the police officers with tacos and although this is a solid plan the officers reject his offer” (don’t know why, tacos sound great to me) and then “Worry not Emilio, the Bush sisters survived their fair share of scandals and so will you, hopefully”. Yesterday's scandal is yesterday's news.

"I love grandma because she has a nifty scooter and asks the important and relevant questions, such as "who is going to feed us dinner." Wonderful.

I had absolutely no idea what was going on where Gema met the man who lost his wife in the accident. A car accident? Hmmm. Now I am even more suspicious Susana was murdered. Not surprised that Gema the fixer, had a hand in keeping the victim's husband quiet, but a bit surprised Nava agreed to hide this earth shattering consequence.

Arcaida really is a piece of work. You really would think she and Paola were mother and child. Ack.

There was some conversation between terrible Terry and Paola - would anyone be able to translate that for me? Terry is the only one who seems to stand up to her and in a rather contemptuous way.

Well, Pedro's secret is out - we (and Nava apparently)want you to be totally happy as you are truly one of the few loveable characters here.

I usually get chocked up when people cry. But, Terry, Paola and now Carlos' tears have left me cold. Good heavens man, get a grip. You are the adult and the parent, start acting like it.

I'm glad Pau spoke to Emilio, and while he has had some hard knocks, he too needs to grow up and take responsibility for himself.

"...his uncle tells him that the only way out of their little project is in a body bag". So, do we know why this is going on? Diego clearly wants out. Does someone have something on the uncle?

Please try and get some rest! 13 hours is way too long a work day. That makes me appreciate your taking the time to do this even more.

Diana

Thank you, Princess Juju. I have not seen this yet, but after reading your entertaining recap, I will know what to watch out for! ; )

Princess Juju...this was fabulous from start to finish. You write best when you are crazy tired I guess, because every paragraph had zingers from start to finish. I particularly loved this whole bit:

Emilio, having run away from home (again) goes out and gets drunk. Seriously his security people need to be fired because they blow, they had one job you guys, one job! Unfortunately for Emilio, he and his buddy get caught at a DUI checkpoint, he tries to bribe the police officers with tacos and although this is a solid plan the officers reject his offer, to make matters worse there are several civilians filming the whole thing. Worry not Emilio, the Bush sisters survived their fair share of scandals and so will you, hopefully.

Now...need to know more about "the bad Modelo" that tastes like pee. Cultural information please.

This is indeed a diabolical plot and I sure hope Nava and/or the feisty little nurse figure out a way to rescue our sweet Paulina. I did enjoy Teresa's back chat to snotty Paola. The former is a ruthless, cold-blooded killer but for some odd reason I like her. I guess because she is straight out who she is. No hypocrisy. Take it or leave it. Paola, on the other hand, I would happily see six feet under.

Thanks Princess. This was great. And hope you can get to bed early tonight.

Thanks, Princess Juju - this was such a wonderful recap of an action-packed episode!

Some of my favorites were “Arcadia is a trash panda who steals silverware”. Laughed so much at this, so true - she really is.

“OD’ing on potato chips was another great one” - Carlos is the worst.

So now we know Pedro’s secret, Susana mystery and to boot Paulina is in the manicomio. Any guesses on how long she will stay there? I hope the discovery of the twins is coming up, else I worry they will just leave her there. Carlos certainly doesn’t seem to care.

P.S. I will post this wonderful recap in the post later today. Early day at work today!

Wow, Princess, I cannot believe that you were able to give us this excellent, sassy, detailed recap after working for 13 hours. You are a rock star. what a great read wit h my Cheerios. Thank you.

I only saw the end of this episode as the guys in the white coats were pulling Paulina out of the house in her jammies as threshold whole family stood around just watching. Grandma's desire to know who was getting her dinner in the midst of this mayhem reminded me of my Grammy Ruth . She was always looking out for herself . One Christmas morning, my dad had a toothache and my sister and I were going to take him to the Er. After a few choruses of "Poor Georgie" , she turned to my husband and said, " You're making me breakfast. " So much for her suffering son Poor Georgie. I

Terryble does seem to be unaffected by wacky, arrogant , moral Paola. Maybe she will be the one to finally do her in.

Good Morning, Patio!

Thank you, Princess Juju, for the excellent recap and the ever-welcome snarkfest: we do need something to lighten up this dark drama, and you are a master at it.

Much has been revealed about Susana's "accident," but like Diana. I'm still leery about what really happened. When Gema was talking to Nava, she mentioned that Paola(Paulina) was going down the same path as Susana since Pao seemed to be having another psychotic breakdown. So aside from being a weak President and a lousy father, Carlos also makes poor choices in selecting his wives.

Diana, Paola went to see Terri-ble to tell her to buy her some dresses, but Terri-ble is no one's "cat." Paola threw her some money and retorted that cats may not take the bite, but dogs do. Terri-ble then told her that she was not going to do anything more for her until she paid up for the last job. Paola had no clue as to what Terri-ble was talking about so Terri-ble told her/motioned that she had killed Santiago. Paola became upset and roared that that was not part of the plan and that she wanted to take care of Santiago herself. After Terri-ble pointed out that Paola wasn't that great at following through with her plans; she added that she had never met anyone who was so ungrateful after having her butt saved. Manuel then came in and told them about Paulina having a plan and Monse being her accomplice.

I felt so bad for Monse. She looked so distraught when Geme told her to go by the office to get her severance pay, but I think she was more distraught that she wouldn't be able to help Paulina rather than having lost her job.

Rgv Chick, thank you so much amiga for providing all the important information.

"Terri-ble is no one's "cat." Paola threw her some money and retorted that cats may not take the bite, but dogs do". Oh dear. I've been fearing for the dogs safety so am fervently hoping TT doesn't do anything that actually pushes Paola over the edge (which she is dancing on as it is). Ack.

Also, I didn't realize what the screeching was about and was surprised Paola didn't have a hand in Santiago's ambush. I shudder to think what Paola had in mind and think Santiago escaped this world in a far quicker (and less painful) manner than Paola would have master minded. Paola blamed Santiago for everything, especially making her think Gonzo had betrayed her. Of course she has no one to blame but herself for the fact Gonzo is dead but she would never admit it.

Paola's eyes fairly glittered in that last scene, didn't they? As Judy noted earlier, Terry is a cold blooded murderer. But, Paola is evil AND insane and a liar to boot.

I don't know exactly what Manuel had said to Monse the other day - he threatened her and told her to leave but she stood up to him (I think something to the effect that only Paola could fire her). Now, she is on her own. And you are right Rgv Chick, she is far more upset at what happened than the fact she lost her job. I also didn't realize she had been fired which makes sense of course, but there is just too much going on here for me to take it all in and understand.

Sudanlynn, thanks for sharing your story. I think there is usually at least one in every family whose clear focus is strictly on themselves. :)

Diana

Princess Juju: Let's hope Emilio does NOT become President of Mexico when he gets older.

Thanks, Princess Juju. I hope you are off in Snoozeville now, getting some much needed rest. Your whole recap cracked me up. Everybody's mentioned this but it's my fave, so here we go again: he tries to bribe the police officers with tacos and although this is a solid plan the officers reject his offer

Surprisingly I feel for Carlos for the first time. Must be devastating to have a wife who committed suicide and then a second wife having a nervous breakdown.

This is the third time I've seen the Emilio actor playing a loopy, needy teen. I have little sympathy for Emilio. If his dad had told him his mother committed suicide, how would that have changed his life? He still lost his mother. Baby sister Lisette handled things much better, saddened but not spewing venom.

Diana, I'm surprised too that Nava agreed to cover up the second person killed in the accident.

Spanish Prof, I believe you called it on Pedro's secret. Pedro is so cute. After Nava's assurance that being gay makes no difference to him, Pedro is back sticking to "usted" and even letting Nava know he's as old as his dad.

This is a modern tale with strong women, but Paulina is now the princess in the tower that needs to be rescued. I think we can count on Nava, but maybe Monse can find a way to help too.

Diana: I've been sounding the bullhorns from the very get-go that Susana got WHACKED. Gemma threatening the other woman's family members confirm this!

No wonder why Mexico is so screwed up!

Niecie: I'm getting a bad vibe Paulina will be placed in a mental institution from here on out until the Gran Final.

I KNEW there was something off about Diego & his Uncle, who are plotting something sinister against poor Lizette. Girl has NO idea what's in store for her.

Something tells me Monse won't be among the living, just saying!

Ria: Just as I predicted, how far will Gemma go into furthering her thirst for political power & influence ?

Are we sure it's not actually Carlos who drives his wives crazy?

Gema was way too satisfied in those final scenes. She has too much power over Carlos.

Did anyone catch the book Paola was into? She said something about murdering twelve or so orphans?

Would the doctor really not be able to identify that the Paola he has is not actually insane?

Why hasn't Paulina been monitoring where she's been and with who? At the very least she could convince people that someone is impersonating her or something. She should have seen this coming and had Monse collect proof of her whereabouts, including saving that youtube video that likely doesn't exist anymore.

Anon 11:32, "Why hasn't Paulina been monitoring where she's been and with who?" Great question! It would be very easy to prove that she was not at the church and that she had not talked to Nava on that morning when Paola met with Nava.

BTW, JudyB, did you recognize Zackrat from "Sin Tu Mirada?" He still looks sleazy as a doctor in a suit!

Princesa JuJu--Some day you will have to share where the JuJu comes from. I keep associating it with Jujubes candies, but that can't be right.

What a remarkable job after a long day at work. We are grateful and thank you. Will raisa a glass (not Modelo pee) to you. Keep 'em coming. They are a delight to read.

The best of the best quips have already been noted, so this will have to suffice:
Did anyone catch Arcadia yelling to "Paola" why she did (whatever it was), it would ruin their plan. I was under the impression that the real Paola didn't like her adoptive mother at all and kept her at arms length. (She was somewhere gambling when Paulina got shot.) So, one secret revealed, another created.

What I got out of the Suicide by Car Accident was that the widower's wife was in the car with Susana when she crashed it. He was being paid to keep up the pretense that it was a car accident when it was intentional. Now the money is changing hands to keep him from changing his story, even in the light of what the media posted. And so far, Carlos is denying suicide.

This was by far the cleverest plan to neutralize Paulina. Nava had better see quickly that the interned Paola has no cut on her hand, before it heals. Here's hoping.

That's before the real Paola's cut heals--so he'd have to see her again, up close. Paola won't take the chance now that Paulina is in a secure place and everybody knows it. There goes my CrockPot Theory (c.).

The Paola and Terrible Terry conversation was really great, I'm sorry I did not have the energy to recap it last night. So in Mexico the word "gato" or "gata" can be used to refer to the "help", Paola was throwing money on the table so that Terry could buy her some clothes, Terry reminds Paola that she's not her "gata" (maid) and Paola tells her that of course she's not, cats don't do things for money but that dogs do.

Paola was reading a novel where the villain was about to kill 15 orphans.

Okay, so I love Modelo Negra, but the light beer just grosses me out. Pro tip, get a bag of hot Cheetos and a bottle of Modelo Negra, it is one of my favorite combinations.

We still don't know what's up with Diego and his creepy uncle but my best guess would be a plot to kidnap Liss.

Arcaida was upset that "Paola" was going to ruin "everything we've worked so hard for"- I'm positive that the two worked together to help get Paola into a position of power and maybe once she accomplished what she wanted Paola sent mommy away.

Thanks Princess. I will definitely check out Modelo Negro on your recommendation. Will have to think long and hard about the hot Cheetos though. [thinking...thinking...thinking...]

Great recap, Princess Juju, despite your lack of sleep! And thank you, Niecie. Yes, I did call it on Pedro--that hardly ever happens to me with tn plots. Thank goodness that in tn-land being gay is no longer a big deal. They have even progressed from "gay best friend" to that very nice and even heroic gay couple in Papa a toda madre.

Anita: Let's not forget that the Villains will be winning for awhile in this Telenovela. Get ready to see Paulina suffer more.

Yes, I wouldn't put it past Paola to kill those innocent orphan kids.

Steve, serious question- do you even watch the shows you comment on?

Princess Juju: I watch several of them. Now on "LU", does Pedro's family know about him & his partner ?

But then where do you come up with something as ridiculous as Paulina killing 15 orphans?

Princess Juju thank you so much for this great recap. Please make sure you do get rest. ITA w/you about Diego's tio wanted to kidnap Lizette.

Great call SpanProf on Pedro's secret.

Diana and Rgv Chick - I'm with you both on the mystery of Susana's death. The more we learn, the more I'm sure its murder. I just don't know who.

JudyB - ITA w/you regarding Terry she's terrifying but I know where I stand with her. I also think that Terry will be the one to take down Paola.

Susanlynn - thanks for sharing. I think we all have at least one family member like Grammy Ruth.

Diana and Niecie - I'm also surprised Nava was in on the cover up in Susana's death.

Anita - thanks for the information about Susana and the other woman in the car.

Princess juju, you work wonders on little sleep. Thanks for doing this
When being sleep depraved, very much
Appreciated my dear. I hope you rest well.

Now to our troubled queen. Her hubby the king is a numnut. Only he don't know why, but still, I don't like it. Some Body had Better help this woman. She Did not ask for this messed up life she was forced into. Monse needs to grab Nava aside and tell him whats going on. And is that YouTube tape not
In exsistance anymore? This is just so
Wrong.

I can See gema tryin to get in his pants again. I dont like that she demon. The only power shes interested in is that power in carlos' pants.

I must have missed that part when they
Found out about paulina's plan to escape that carnival passing as the presidential first family. Somebody better put 2n2 together soon. And I do
Not expect it to be El presidente.I'll
Exspect Him to be back in the sheets with gema Shortly. After all he has to relieve his stress.

Steve, "yes, I wouldn't put it pass Paola to kill those innocent orphans"

Steve were you talkin about Paola or
Paulina killing the 15 orphan. Paulina
Wouldn't, but Paola would cuz she's the twisted one, not Paulina.

Princess juju thank you again for this
Snarkity recap girl. Now go to sleepy.

Why did terry-dying break down and cry after she killed Santiago were they in
Love or something. About 97% of the people in this tn is nuts.

"Terry-fying"

Thank you Princess. You must be superwoman! I can barely keep my eyes open watching the recording without my full 8 hours!

This is a fun novela. Lots of twists in the plot but it hangs together very well. I am enjoying it. Good thing as I started watching Manana but just couldn’t deal with a silly plot and unlikeable characters.

I post late, so not too much to say that hasn’t been said

Mely
