Vane is hot looking for Laura's killer, while cute adrianita looks on.
the shadow gang, facing sheer death at the edge of a cliff, are picked up by their outside man, later ditch the pickup, and run to the hideout, Billar Diamante, Shadow fires the manager and floorman with a bullet to the head, after all it is his place, Santi and jota look worried.
Alfonso has a TV interview over his death threat, his manager wonders if it didn't come from Conde's people.
Conde asks his assistant if she knows anyone at the american consulate or DEA, he's looking for a plan B, she sets him straight.
Diabla warns the Hand to keep an eye on Titi, Mari gives him the news that CataG will be at the drug trafficking conference that will be bombed.
ah, Albeiro sees no blood from his nose.
Sal drives the ladies home, he and Hilda kiss.
Shadow takes stock, yep, they have all they need for the task at hand, money and bullets, and Shadow gives us the rest of the story, he was working for Angel Face who took care of business for Fino, a blackmail/extortion racket, they suspected Shadow of robbing them, instead of killing him, Fino (the Hand) rapes and kills his pregnant wife, planting the evidence on Shadow, Shadow had Angel Face killed from prison.
the ladies leave for Fashion Day 2, Al stays behind to meet with jota's lawyers, hmm, and for some reason CataM is mia.
Titi and Mari rumble, he wants respect, she calls him a loser (and knows about Dayana), but all is well when the Hand is around.
Vane meets CG, Natalia, Val as they arrive in Pereira,CataG discovers Santi is one of the escapees.
Calvo pops in on Al at Hilda's, his lady's place, looks around and breathes in her scent, not here about albeirito, hands him the phone, it's Diabla, Al's eyes bug out, did he turn green, they have a date for tonight.
CataG sends Natalia to check on Val (who went to the bathroom), Natalia is getting good with weird faces, CG tells her to knock it off, Natalia gets to the locked room, breaks in, Val has flushed the sim card from that phone done the toilet, claims she puked, asks Natalia why she is stalking her, another reason, kisses her, (without the customary lick up the face, and did she just say she puked), oh no, is Natalia falling to the dark side?
Val tells CataG she is dizzy, wants the rest of the day off, no problem, it's a day off for all.
Calvo tells Al, it's an important date, if you are dying you have a date with God, but if you want to live, you have a date with a Goddess, does he call Al a pimpollo?

PRESO NO. 1 – LUNES – Parte 1 de 2>
Juanito is ready to smother his father, with Pia urging him on when Pedro weakly says: Ayúdame, hijo. and he can’t go through with it.
Adán and Eva are looking at an image of Adela Limantour, Mexican, and say she’s the same as the Italian [?] Eva says that Juan Islas Limantour is the son of Pedro Islas Cardán. She found a marriage registration of Pedro Islas and Adela Limantour. She disappeared, and her name was used to create a company. Adán says that this is how they got the money to buy all those mansions and the accounts that Carolina found in Paradise Island.
Diana appears to have Daddy Issues, big time. Now she comes on to Paco after earlier coming on to Ricardo Montero. Well, maybe it’s an ulterior motive. She wants Paco to get her mother off the island.
Voyo has come to Adán and Eva’s Bat Cave. He tells them that Maravillas is a landing strip where drugs have been unloaded. Eva says that they’ll take off in a helicopter from Islas Marías and fly to Maravillas. After that, Carmelo will decide where to go. Voyo suggests the mountains.
Some kind of rich guy and gal are admiring Crazy Joe, who’s sitting at the bar. [Well, there’s no accounting for tastes, is there?]
Some prisoner tells Caro that she’s there because her husband decided to rob a bank in Guadalajara. Clara approaches and makes nice. Then she says that she could never have imagined that that guy could only love Carolina. She says that, if she had the chance, she’d go right after him.
Carmelo is walking with Tencha on the beach and, I think, getting chewed out for bedding Clara. Suddenly Tencha collapses onto the sand.
Benito Rivas-Macin tells Federico Iturbe that Adonis Madrigal is Bautista Fernández’ campaign manager. [I’m going short here.] R-M says he spoke with Judge Linares, who wants to fix what he did. R-M wants the letter [email?] that Dalia left. Iturbe breaks the AA rule and says that the person who wanted to kill himself at the meeting was Adonis.
Later Adonis is in full revenge mode. He tells Bautista in a car that he wants to kill Islas and his gang and take their riches.
At the hospital where they’ve admitted Islas, Pia makes a call to someone about marrying the moribund (she thinks) Pedro Islas.
We see Islas in his bed and then a flashback to 1974, in Spain, where Islas and Guido Espinosa were students. Pedro approaches Adela in the library and asks for some help about a class. We then see them – two years later - having been married and walking down a staircase.
Guido is a wedding guest. He says he’s going back to Mexico to start a business. Guido snidely mention’s Pedro’s new wife’s millions. Then he gives him some kind of a drug in a twist of paper that he can take or not take – his choice.

The next scene is of Adela, still in her wedding gown, opening a bedroom door to find Guido and Pedro curled up in bed together, asleep!
In the present the prison doctor says that Tencha is weak, dehydrated and malnourished. Sara pipes up that her son is in prison, what does he expect?
Carolina and Carmelo manage to jump into bed together again with a flashback to their younger selves doing the same thing.
So, we’ve seen about 6 prisoners so far, but now they have a big lineup of about a hundred.
Crazy Joe has apparently bedded this Max from the bar and suggests a ride in Max’s yacht.
Carmelo tells Paco that they (Caro and Paco) will be blamed if he escapes 2 days after they leave. Paco tells him that he has a superior destiny. After some thought, Carmelo agrees. “Get me out of here.”
Before she leaves the island, Carmelo tells Carolina to put herself forward as a candidate for President.
Some judge is in the process of marrying Pedro and Pia [sounds like a name for a musical duo]. Juanito bursts in before the ceremony can be completed. Pedro, weakly, tells them all to get out. Guido shows up at the hospital with one Lagaretta, a notary, and goes into Islas’ room, forbidding Juanito and Pia to follow him inside.
On the plane leaving Islas Marías, Paco tells Caro that he agrees with Carmelo about Caro running for President.
At the dock, presumably where Max's boat (or more likely daddy's boat) is berthed, Crazy Joe gives some guy an envelope of money and reminds him about the time something is to happen. Just then Max rolls up with two chicas ricas. Joe at first muffles a curse but then decides it’s fine.
We go back in time again and hear Crazy Joe’s voice telling Veronica Carranza, in front of her computer, to put some money from a bank account into the joint account of Carmelo and Carolina. She’s surprised they still have a joint account.
Adán and Eva meet with Voyo at some taco place. Voyo says that the landing strip is ready for a helicopter or a Learjet. He says they’ll have help. There is a woman named Amalia, who used to be Carmelo’s girlfriend. [Uh oh! I remember when Carmelo dumped her for Carolina.] Voyo tells Adán and Eva that Amalia doesn’t traffic drugs, she processes them.
We see another lineup on the island. Segovia looks awful. Clara says he was wasted the night before. He talks about the impure having left (Caro, etc?]. And then he says he’s sending Carmelo to isolation so as to purify him.
Eva and Emanuel discuss the fact that the plans Emanuel knew about were changed. He’s a bit insulted, but she tells him the fewer who know the exact timing the better.

yep that was Virginia transferring the money to the joint bank account that Carmelo supposedly stole, but wouldn't this make Caro guilty too, maybe if she runs they will use it against her.
Chole convinced Francisco that Carmelo was destined for a higher path, and I think Carmelo agrees, now that he is fully behind the escape, Chole is working on getting him out of isolation.

So we found out about Pedro & Guido. Not surprising. They were made for each other. Juanito must suspect if he doesn’t already know. Wonder what Pia would think? They are both indirect sex partners with Guido!
Did we get a reason why Virginia transferred that money? And interesting point about the joint bank account, deb.
I do think Adan is using a tactic to smoke out the bad guys, by giving a false escape info.

I was hoping someone would know why Adán and Eva called Adela the Mexican and then the Italian. I listened 3 times and I'm pretty sure that's what they said. But how can you be both. I suppose she could have been an Italian girl, studying in Spain, and then naturalized in Mexico after marrying Pedro. But still...
We did not get a reason why Virginia made that transfer. I sort of thought she was befuddled by lust. Apparently Crazy Joe has crazy bed skills - at least Sara thought so. It also crossed my mind that perhaps she was doing it out of spite because he married Miranda. They did indicate that Virginia was in love with Carmelo at some point in time. And he just thought of her as a good friend and excellent Chief of Staff, or whatever her role was. Not that he wasn't unfaithful to Caro, I just had the impression Virginia wasn't in that number.

Oh, and thanks for the part about the matching faces. Now that you've written it I remember the part about two faces. So maybe Adela is alive somewhere and Juanito doesn't know it.
I do have a hunch Guido is setting up Pedro's will in his favor. Notaries in Mexico have much more complicated duties than counterparts in the US. I used to be a notary, mostly to notarize docs for customers of my employer. But it was pretty much record the document in your notary record book, get a copy of the person's ID, stamp your seal on the doc and collect a small fee. I think notaries in Mexico can prepare wills.

I do have a hunch Guido is setting up Pedro's will in his favor. Notaries in Mexico have much more complicated duties than counterparts in the US. I used to be a notary, mostly to notarize docs for customers of my employer. But it was pretty much record the document in your notary record book, get a copy of the person's ID, stamp your seal on the doc and collect a small fee. I think notaries in Mexico can prepare wills.

Very exciting episode. We see how Emanuel and Miranda started their thing. She was the aggressor. These two are having dinner and Emanuel talks about Carmelo fleeing the island. He leaves the room and he and Adán can see that Miranda texted someone. It’s Crazy Joe, but they don’t know for sure. Emanuel then comes out and tells her what he thinks of her.
Chole gives the guard some kind of a love spell so she can get into Carmelo’s cell. She then has him escape somewhere on the island, saying Clara will come for him.
Mayorga’s gotas are apparently not so undetectable. Guido confronts Juanito with having poisoned his father. Juanito chickens out and begs forgiveness.
At the prison, Mayorga is not drugged and crazy any more. He tells Piña he’ll be on top when Bautista is President. He’s overjoyed to hear about Islas being in the hospital and knows why.
Belisario tells Ricardo Montero that Islas was poisoned and that there will be a war.
Islas dies. But before he does someone tells Juanito he’s not a match for a transfusion for his father’s bleeding ulcer. Maybe he should have a DNA test.
The vultures gather at Islas’ velorio.
Stupid Max and the chicas ricas don’t seem to mind the rocket launcher Crazy Joe has with him. They have a group sex in the cabin of the yacht.
Nato and Carmelo are looking for a place to hide. Looks like it’s inside an old lighthouse. They find a body. Nato says it must be the lighthouse keeper who went crazy. He’d heard the guy was crazy and threw himself off a cliff. Carmelo sees the full name of Capítan Segovia on the back of the corpse.
20 years ago a spit and polish captain in a white uniform arrives and encounters a nameless farero (lighthouse keeper). This weird guy freaks out when the captain wants to inspect the lighthouse and finds things aren’t working right. He kills him, apparently shaves his beard, but not his moustache and becomes our hated Capt. Segovia.
Chole has been beaten and hung by her arms. Clara tries to protect her and gets in his face. Chole appears to admit to Segovia, to protect Clara, where Carmelo is hiding.
Paco, Adán, and Emanuel talk about sacrificing someone. Emanuel has reservations. Eva tells Caro the plan and she also is shocked.
Segovia gets a fake order from Rivas-Macin to not let Carmelo escape. His second in command says they have to look for the rowboat Chole told them about with the plane. But eventually, with the second in command piloting the plane, they take off.
The Captain of the yacht and the rich idiots watch Crazy Joe looking through binoculars on the bow of the yacht. He raises his rocket launcher and blows up the plane. [Show of hands…mourners for Segovia?]
Carmelo tells Nato that that was his signal.
Crazy Joe takes off in a speedboat and then turns around and blows up the yacht.
A plane arrives. It’s Adán and Evodio pretending to be army officials. Nato says he isn’t leaving but Clara says she is definitely leaving.

And what’s this about a bleeding ulcer? That’s what killed Pedro? I thought the drops caused a heart problem. There was a closed casket. Is Pedro really dead?
Guido to Juanito was spot on: you make big plans and then they’re too big for you to pull off.
Pia’s in big trouble now. She’s a liability. Guido knows the truth and he asked Juanito do you want her to pay for you both? Lazcano threatened her and Mayorga wants her dead. Maybe she will turn to the good guys for help.
Caro and Paco lunch convo: Ricardo opened her eyes to the fact that Caro and Carmelo belong together for all eternity. Paco really doesn’t want to hear it and neither do I but then they get interrupted by an escape update.

Did you catch that brief glimpse of him wearing the mask and hood while at work at the paper?

Excellent additions to my mini-cap, dondi and deb! Yep, that episode was one of the best yet. And it answered one of my questions: How in the world did a completely crazy AND incompetent guy get a job running that island prison? Of course the whole thing is still telenovela nutty. Wouldn't someone from the mainland ever have checked things out there? Why did Segovia's underlings never maybe make a phone call to say that their boss was torturing prisoners? [So this is how I might justify collateral damage. The blown up second in command never protected the prisoners.]
I enjoyed how the puzzle pieces fit together. They played Miranda, getting her to text Crazy Joe about the plan for Carmelo to flee. But, again, it doesn't make much sense since Emanuel said nothing, that we saw, about WHEN?
I did catch the guy at the funeral mentioning his son Max, grimacing because the kid didn't have the couth to show up at an important velorio. Since you typed the name Legaretta, is he the notary who came to Pedro's bedside? I googled Mexican notary. They are actually lawyers.

Mateo tells Jo he has enough material for a novela.
it's morning and Diabla rouses batman Al (who he'd look like with a couple of eye holes in his mask) who is chained to the bed (pretty much the same marriage they had before without the curse and drugs) she wants him to call Hilda, saying exactly what she tells him, failing once they give it another go.
Hilda is worried about CataM, does Liset say she likes Gabriel, when Al calls, he tells her he wants nothing to do with her, CataG or CataM, and don't call me, Hilda senses the hate, she feels like fainting, no, no, she's not pregnant, I don't think.
some flowers arrive, Liset reads part of the card, did it say who?, Hilda is worried about Al.
CataG meets with Sandra, Gabriel, Marcela and Vane to talk about Jota's case and the escape, Marcela asks about Al? oh he disappeared too, they figured someone masterminded it, but doc Santi helped, and someone had to revive them.
Santi and Jota awake on the billard tables, have a soda and chips for breakfast, Jota asks if they can trust Shadow, Santi says he thinks deep down he is a good person, also that in prison all he thought about was getting justice, now he wants revenge.

Guido comes to see Juanito. He slaps Juanito and tells him you gave the gringo orders and he followed them. He killed someone but Carmelo probably got away!
Day before Carmelo’s arrest: Virginia watches Pia’s special investigative report on Carmelo’s serious act of corruption. She realizes what she has done. She makes a frantic call to Roger (Joe) and they meet. He tells her we are tools for something that’s much bigger than us.
Day before: Juanito gets a call from Ramses in prison. We will get revenge but Ramses is worried about Pedro ruining everything.
Day before: Pedro meets with Rivas Macin and pressures him to have Carmelo arrested.
Day of Carmelo’s arrest: Rivas Macin presents Carmelo with the charges. Carmelo says he will not subject the people to an impeachment process. Why not? He’d rather be arrested? And so Carmelo is lead away in handcuffs.
Present day airplane talk: Carmelo thanks Adan & Eva. He asks where are we going. Voyo fills him in but first asks if he has something with Clara. It can cause a problem where we are going. Carmelo doesn’t think it’s a good idea to hide out at Amalia’s but Voyo says it’s the best option and I’ll stay with you.
Guido’s PT is a Limantour—Juan’s half-sister although he doesn’t know. She informs Pia she’s become expendable, she’s in danger and says let me help you.
Rita Franco is reporting on the Carmelo escape and Caro is watching. Carmelo is missing and a plane from the island blew up. Is Carmelo dead? Rita will have more info when she returns. Lazcano tells Rita not to report the yacht explosion. She refuses to go back on the air. Lazcano says I can put you on a yacht, too.
Legarreta finds out about the yacht and shows up demanding answers. Who killed my son? Juan, care to answer? Legarreta threatens Guido, you don’t want me for an enemy. After Legaretta leaves Guido orders Juanito to clean up his mess. And Pia, go to the TV station-- gone are the days when you could fix things with your nalgas!
Caro and Ricardo talk. He says her article has set a commotion. They discuss Rita, the yacht, Lazcano. The bad guys are circling the wagons. We shouldn’t talk on the phone. Talk later.
Memorials to Carmelo have appeared outside Caro’s house. Candles, pictures, flowers.

The plane lands at Amalia’s. Carmelo thanks Clara for her support. Clara intends to stick with Carmelo for the rest of his life. He reminds her this can’t be.
Carmelo and Voyo part ways with Adan and Eva. Carmelo tells them he doesn’t intend on returning to power. His time has come and gone. There are others who will carry on. He hopes there will be no violent uprisings. He does intend to keep fighting for good in his own way.
Pia takes over for Rita. Special report tonight.
Lazcano and Adonis talk about Bautista’s campaign. Adonis is drunk, he says stop the special report and give Bautista air time. Lazcano says no.
Adonis goes to Pia and asks her to interview Bautista. No way. He makes a crude remark about keeping something open for him and she throws her drink in his face.
Bautista is waiting for Adonis in the car, Piña as driver. He is not happy. Adonis says it’s time to bust Mayorga from prison. We need him for the campaign.
Applause for Carmelo as he arrives at Amalia’s. Amalia welcomes him. He asks her for a hug.
Caro & Co watch TV. Pia reports that Carmelo got away and his plan involved the killing two people, Segovia and a Navy officer. How dare they blame us! Emanuel says, well after all, this was our plan. As they watch, Sara’s phone rings. Could it be Crazy Joe? She won’t answer the call but says it’s Iturbe. Right then Iturbe shows up unannounced at the house—Rivas Macin is coming over.
Father Aguirre stops in to see Tenchita. They talk about Carmelo. He’s come to say goodbye because he’s going to join him? What? Later, Tenchita calls Chinta. Does she know where Carmelo is? Chinta doesn’t know.
Cut to meeting with Rivas Macin. He asks them to join the Rui Palacios team. No, Caro is going to announce her candidacy and we want to be independent like Carmelo. Rivas says all you will do is split the vote and Bautista will benefit. Caro makes an offer to delay her candidacy, watch the polls. If it looks like Palacios will win, we will support him. The group considers the options.

Amalia and Carmelo catch up on 23+ years’ worth of stuff. They talk about their long ago relationship. He questions her choice of profession. She says she had limited options. She’s not a ruthless murderer like the rest. She only defends what’s hers. Besides, she supports 20 families with her operation. Carmelo says he will leave but he will be back one day to offer better options.
She says if you leave, please take my son, Placido. The kid addresses him as Mr. President. Carmelo’s wheels are turning, he asks Amalia, is Placido my son? Amalia deflects--he’s her son. So why do you want me to take him? Because this kind of life is not for him.
Amalia leaves them. Carmelo questions Placido. Why do you call me president? What do you think of your country? The kid echoes Carmelo’s words from long ago—it’s *bleep* but it’s my country.
Someone’s in the kitchen with Sara…and it’s Iturbe, who's poured himself a glass of milk. The milk is giving him a crazy idea to kiss her senseless. I guess he’s over his Dalia grief and legal troubles. He tells her he will scare away any ex-boyfriends. Uh oh. Then, Young Iturbe is summoned by the president, time to go. But first a nice little kiss for Sara and a last sip of milk.

Wow, fabulous recap, dondi. I gotta rush off, but will comment more later. And, yes, Carmelo had every opportunity to dump Clara. I can understand he didn't want to leave her at the prison, but IIRC the plane was going to take off for the Mexican mainland, so the writers just want her trying and trying to get him. Gah!

I rewatched the show this morning at telemundo and cleared up some things.
the flowers came to Hilda, the card read, "thank you for the exclusive and for making us so much money".
Gabriel suggesst that it was some motive that brought Santi and Jota together with the criminals.
Jota thought sleeping on the pool tables wasn't good because of the balls.
the hand is telling someone to follow someone, he tells the guys it's a matter from his past, Titi says sometimes the past will rise up to bite you, he knows.
CataG tells Vane and Natalia they will just have to wait till Jota and Santi contact them.
Hilda says Al is the love of her life as well as CataG's, they will have to work together, in the end if he ends up with Cata, she will be very happy, is that a glimmer of hope we see through Cata's tearful eyes?

Again, thanks, dondi. Very disappointing, disjointed episode. No explanation of how Guido knew Carmelo hadn't been in that plane, or did I miss it?
And I was expecting Caro to confront Sara about her lie. She said Iturbe called her and he walks into the room a minute later. Viewerville is pretty sure it's Crazy Joe. Too bad the rich kids didn't film the group sex and put it on the internet before they were blown up. I am positive we'll get another Sara/Joe scene at some point.
I don't see the point of the big confab about Rivas-Macin wanting them to get behind Rui Palacios. I don't see the point of Rui Palacios at all. They don't bother to explain things at all. I was intuiting that R-M was having Rui as a place holder, thinking that somehow Carmelo could resume office or run again when exonerated. But everyone has said, because of some time period I don't understand, that that window has closed and he cannot be President again.
The actor is doing a good job with his stroke victim schtick, but I'm SO over it.
They keep pulling relatives out of their hats. Now the physical therapist is Juanito's half sister. So who's her father. I guess we assume she's Adela's daughter, or do we?
And then Amalia turns up with a kid, presumably the same age as Sara. I keep wondering if all this was scripted from the beginning or if they're throwing stuff at the wall to see what will stick. And Plácido resents his father for not being in his life when Amalia never told Carmelo about him. Please.

I'm clueless on mexican politics but I got that Rui is the candidate for Rivas' "party" which seems important, but Caro wants to be independent, and as dondi pointed out will split the vote.
interesting that Juan's step sister revealed herself to Pia, but does anyone else know?
we still don't have the whole embezzlement story but I'm beginning to see where Virginia was duped into something, but she doesn't really get it till she sees it has been exposed and turned on Carmelo.

We need all the help we can get to piece this sliced and diced show together. They could have left out some of the beatings early on to make room for the important details now. Very little makes sense. Ridiculous.
So Carmelo has a kid with Amalia, kids with Caro, he knocked up Virginia and we are led to believe Miranda’s bun in the oven is his as well. Can’t wait for Caro to meet his son… but does it matter any more?
novelera, I think you’re on to something with the El Dragón theory. Preso might not have lived up to expectations and they wanted to end it before the Uni debut. So they're hacking it to death. The Blanca Soto show doesn’t look bad but it might not be enough to counter. deb reported we might be getting ESDLC 7 following the 10 days of Blanca. I haven’t seen anything about it yet, probably waiting until after Sept 30.

I had forgotten about Virginia's having been pregnant! But do we think it was Carmelo's? I had thought he was actually being truthful when we saw him say that their relationship was about her skills in whatever role she had in his administration. Plus, isn't it more likely the baby was Crazy Joe's?
I'm starting to think Miranda's baby is Emanuel's and she has somehow seen some advantage in saying it's Carmelo's. Or else they're going with Miranda dying after giving birth and Carm & Caro bring up another kid.
