Hijas #1 Cliffnotes TALK ABOUT MARKING YOUR TERITORY!!!!!

Part 1

1. We meet Juana Victoria first. She's a feisty waitress in a teeny tiny restaurant. She fends off a cheeky customer and then rescues the kitchen crew when the wee kitchen explodes in flames. Even wrestles a gas container out so the explosion doesn't become worse. She feels "life and death at the same time" and is sure her life is going to change after this.
2. Juana Soledad is someone who sees visions and reads Tarot cards. She's getting the message that something BIG is going to happen. And we see a half-moon on her butt just like Vicky's.
3. Next we go to Puebla and meet Juana Ines, who is a noviate in a convent. She does the grocery shopping and is being courted by a hunky young butcher. Which leads her to have "bad thoughts" about kissing him. Padre tells her to just make the sign of the cross when these things happen but the Mother Superior is smarter than that. She thinks Juana Inés needs to get out and experience life a little before she decides whether or not to dedicate herself to God. Of course when she's changing, we get a glimpse of her half-moon birthmark as well.
4. Meanwhile Juana Victoria's mom is dying but needs to make a confession first. Something that's tormented her for 23 years. Gonzalo, her husband, is not Victoria's dad. She was 2 months pregnant when she married him. But the baby daddy was a handsome young hotelier named Juan Oropoza, whom she met on a romantic half-moon night. It was the kind of overwhelming love that leads you to give yourself completely to a man, with no regrets and no conditions. But now, in order to rest in peace, she has to tell Vicky the truth. She says she met him in Mazatlán and he has a birthmark just like Vicky's.
5. Also in Mazatlán we see Juan's legit son proposing marriage to Estefania. We know Estefy is bad because when she hears together forever, for better or for worse" she looks bored; but when he pops out the big diamond ring, she lights up like a Christmas tree. Even worse she has a heavy-handed Dad, Dario, who sees marriage as a business and congratulates Sebastian on making a good deal by snagging the daughter of himself--the most powerful man in the region.
6. Mom dies in peace, although the priest giving her last rites looks a little bit like Ted Cruz. Yikes! Also, we have a close-up of Vicky wailing over her mom, and both her hairstyle and bushy bushy eyebrows look very unattractive. (What do YOU think Andy?) Vicky cries for a month and then gets over it. Gives mom's old clothes to the poor with her madrina's approval. And sets off to find her birth father.

HIJAS #1 Cliffnotes TALK ABOUT MARKING YOUR TERRITORY!!!!!

Part 2

7. We see Sebastian giving instructions on proper pool chlorine concentration to some employee. Mom Leonor arrives (Cynthia Klitbo is looking Fabulous) and we get that she's a doting mom who's happy sonny is marrying a very rich girl. He's still restless and feels like he's missing something. He wants Life to surprise him. Uh oh!
8. Juana Bárbara, a tough little boxer, loses a fight when a sinister, leering fellow shows up to watch the match. We learn later that he's a friend of her mom's and that at some point he abused, or tried to abuse Bárbara. And she's so spooked by him that she loses the fight.
9. Sebastian is crazy about his dad--thinks he's the best papa and best man ever. Later they go out together on some island of the white-tailed deer in a violent storm (Don't ask me. I don't write this stuff--I just report) and Dad is struck by lightning.
It doesn't kill him but sends him to hospital where he makes a vow to be a better man.
He's evidently not a "believer" but is now magically indebted to his "hebilla" [belt buckle] which took the brunt of the lightning bolt, thereby saving his life. And this has to be a signal from the Almighty to change his ways.
10. Juana Soledad is freaking out because when she read the Tarot cards for her fiancé, the Death card appeared. Means a disaster is on the way. He doesn't take it seriously, but then he is almost hit by a car when they are out walking.
11. And Juana Bárbara arrives home to find her loathsome abuser has evidently reconciled with her mom. At least he's sitting there at her table and leering at poor Bárbara.
12. Finally Victoria arrives in Mazatlán. Can't seem to locate the hotel. But the evening heat is so suffocating, she runs into the ocean, shoes and all. The powerful waves roll her into Sebastian, who is out there swimming. As they crash into each other there is the LOOK. Yep, you got it. Love, stronger than any thunderbolt, and definitely stronger than the avaricious Estefania, has struck our two young people down. While a lovely half-moon shines above.

Okay. Fun beginning. Has to be a better deal than Mañana. There's evidently going to be a lot of bikinis and bathing in this one. Plenty of landscape for both guys and gals. Life is looking better. But we need to do something about Victoria's bushy eyebrows.

Interesting show. All the daughters have the banana moon tattooed on Their upper right hip.Including dad.

I was reading up on the tn and I saw
Ms Barros' name. Could not remember
Where I saw that name then it hit me
"Manana". And in this one she really actually dies. From cancer?

One sister Has a disgusting stepdad.
They can get rid of him already, how
Ever they want. Just get rid of him.

Their dad's wife is a hoot. She may be Fun, we'll see. Good jv didnt get
Swept away in a riptide. As least not the watery kind.

Thanks Rgv Chick. Its got promise.

Ps, all of them have the same first name, so maybe we initial them? Or just use their middle name? Whatever
We'll, figure it out.

JudyB thanks for the fun recap. We must have been typing a little at the same time.

Already the laughter. "Mom dies in peace, although the priest giving her last rites looks a little bit like Ted Cruz. Yikes!"Girl don't you start,Lol.

So he wasn't stepdad. Still get rid of him right now. The Writters don't hear
Me.

So daddy was a rolling stone! He hit 4
Pit stops and married the 5th one.
As I said it has promise. Stefy maybe
abit of a challenge for Juan vicky.

Onward patio

Good belt buckle! Lol.

HIJAS

JudyB, thank you for the outstanding cliff notes! This does seem to be off to a better start than "Mañana." I keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to keep our interest. I had a bit of a hard time keeping up with all the cities, but, mehhh, that's trivial.

So now we have an explanation for the title--all the sisters have the same half-moon birthmark on the right hip...quite prominent, I might add.

ITA about Vicki's eyebrows and the hair...those bangs have really gotta go. And I agree about Cynthia, she looked stunning! Maybe she can give Vicki some tips??? Probably not, though.

I too thought the man that Barb saw was her stepdad..maybe not. I'm too busy to go back and check :-)

Nina, I'm just using a shortened middle name to distinguish the Juanas...unless we want to go with JuanVi, JuanBa, JuanIn, and JuanSo...that seems to be what they do with the Juans, like JuanJo in "Reina de la Cancion."

I didn't get to see the last few minutes so really appreciated, "The powerful waves roll her into Sebastian, who is out there swimming. As they crash into each other there is the LOOK. Yep, you got it. Love, stronger than any thunderbolt, and definitely stronger than the avaricious Estefania, has struck our two young people down. While a lovely half-moon shines above." OH NOES!!! Please writers, don;t go there! Sebas is her half-brother!! Ooooh, unless, he's adopted or Stefi had her own fun :-)

Yep, yep yep, looks like there will be lots of eye candy for all in this one! YIPPPEE!!

Judyb...Thank you. I was babysitting today and missed this , but your recap gave me all the details , and it at least seems better than our previous show. ..doesn't take much.
I like Cynthia and Michelle , and I am anxious to see if I recognize anyone else when I have a chance to watch...maybe tomorrow.

Nina.. " Papa was a rolling stone"...wherever he hung his hat was his home, right? ....love that song !!

HIJAS

Thank you, Judy, for our CliffNotes today!

Paging AndyB -- lots of bikini scenes! Girls in the boxing ring! (lol)

Looks like Papa was, indeed, a rolling stone, Nina. Is he ever in for a big surprise.

And actually, Papa Juan looked like a really decent guy.

Cynthia Clitbo is going to be an awesome Leonora. I love her already.

No way Sebastian and JuanVi can be a couple, since they are half-sibs. But maybe he really isn't JuanO's son. Stay tuned ... must see TV!

JuanaSo is our not-so-Linda from MMTF/MMTMF. She sure looks better here! Her boyfriend looks like the lead from Sombra (Pablo Lyle) but I know that isn't him because ...

I never, ever, ev-ah! would have recognized Michelle Renaud with that bad hair. Kudos to the actress for letting them do that to her.

Thank heavens for CCs. I could not understand almost everyone except Rosaura, Klitbo, and a few other more seasoned actors.

---> Judy, I can do a recap tomorrow, if you like.

All in all, this looks like it will be more watchable and more entertaining than Mañana.

That would be great DORIS. As I said, I'll be out of town Friday and Monday next, but if nobody recaps on those days, we'll just have a discussion page. The world will not come to an end.

I recorded and watched both Hijas and Mañana, a little inattentively for both. Meh.

Hijas

The whole show was quite hokey I thought. Hokiness in a telenovela, I'm sure we're all shocked, shocked.

I do agree that Jade Fraser (Juana Soledad) looks a lot better in this, quite yummy in fact. And the cute novitiate and the butcher was fun.

Doris, thanks for thinking of me, but no dice on the boxing. I don't really approve of boxing for men (though I'll sometimes watch with friends), and I very, very much disapprove of it for women. Catfighting is different, it's all fun, pure pandering, exploitation, and titillation for the guys, and certainly some women. Definitely fun even though we never get the hoped for wardrobe malfunction. Even women's Lucha Libre is OK; done right nobody gets hurt, and while the body slams don't appeal, the thought of being pinned... Er, never mind.

Mañana

Mostly same old, same old and you won't be shocked, shocked to learn that circumstances threw Monica and Camilo together again, with close encounters of the lips kind... but no actual lip contact. And, of course, someone just happened to see it, Rafa in this case.

BUT! There really was something interesting! Ximena rapped to Monica! Really! And pretty good too! At least I thought so.

:-)

andy

Andy - I totally get it with the difference between boxing vs catfights and lucha libre. I'm not a fan of boxing; too brutal for my taste.

Que te Perdone Dios returns Monday November 4, at 11a/10c on Univision.

HIJAS

What a wonderful introductory summary Judy!

"hebilla" [belt buckle] was wonderful.

"Love, stronger than any thunderbolt, and definitely stronger than the avaricious Estefania, has struck our two young people down. While a lovely half-moon shines above" was lyrical and lovely.

And yet, some wonderful humor: "the priest giving her last rites looks a little bit like Ted Cruz. Yikes!" which had me smiling.

I'm totally lost so will need to research this a bit and find out who is playing who here (Michelle, Jade, etc.). Also without the disturbing theme of "I'm dying and need to find my husband a replacement", it sounds as though this might have some plot lines.

Thank you Judy for starting my day off so nicely.

Diana

Good Morning Petite Patio.

ANDY...Proud of you for watching both. Yes, Hija's is hokey and predictable, I'm sure. We can see the potential couples shaping up already. But anything looks good right now, compared to Mañana. That storyline only gets more disturbing as it goes along. And sorry that the boxing does not have the same appeal as Lucha Libre, but with all the bikinis and rolling waves in view, we definitely could have some wardrobe malfunctions. Just sayin'.

Diana...The first episode was really a kaleidoscope of four different locations, four different gals, plus the back stories of multiple characters. No wonder you're feeling a bit "mareada" [dizzy]. Me too. But this will sort itself out gradually. Although a lot easier when you're watching, rather than just reading. Mmmm...yes, Ted Cruz as a priest was disturbing. Still trying to get that picture out of my head.

Have a great day Patio. Lovely here. Crisp, cool and sunny. Beautiful days in the Midwest are to be truly celebrated. Once Winter hits, we're known as Catarrh Valley here in Ohio. Red rimmed eyes, red noses, and grayish complexions...to go with our Scarlet and Gray OSU theme.

Whoops...forgot to put your name in caps DIANA. In spite of the lovely weather, this may be one of my stupid days, who knows?

HIJAS de la LUNA a/k/a HIJAS - Part 1 of 2

Caras de Impactadas all around y Leonora was a hoot.

Here is my mini-recap, with errors and omissions. Please correct anything I got wrong… my Spanish .. .yada yada yada. Plot points are combined here for brevity and not necessarily in the order they happened today. This was well worth the watch just to see Cynthia Klitbo as Leonora the drama queen. I think she is now my favorite telenovela actress.

Most of the action was focused on JuanaVic and JuanO. There’s a good chance they will take up most of the screen time over the next few months, but that is just a CrockPot Theory. We open today where we left off, with Sebastian & JuanaVic in the ocean, arguing over their crash, etc., what is important is that he says to her “have I seen you before?”

JuanaBarb is arguing with her mother over Alberto (formerly known on the Patio as “Dances with Sunglasses” in Amores Verdaderos) and says ‘either he goes or I do.’ We learn that he left Marg for another woman many years ago. Later on, Margareta (Barb’s mom) tells Alberto he can come live with her. JuanaBarb is not happy. Later at the gym, her trainer asks ‘what did he ever do to you that you hate him so much’? Stay tuned ….

One of the nuns cannot find JuanaÍnes, hasn’t seen her all day. Later, Ines is frightened by a mouse or rat and screams. She has been hiding(?) and they hear her. Long story short, Mother Superior and JuanaInes talk about her current situation. Mother Superior thinks Ines needs a Rumspringa and Ines says no, she is happy here. Mo Superior says you’ve never lived anywhere else, maybe you need to see the world or STTE. Nothing decided today, but it will serve our plot if she goes on sabbatical from the convent. Stay tuned …

JuanaSoledad is still discussing the Tarot card reading of death with her boyfriend, Octabio. Not much else happens with these two.

JuanO checks himself out of the hospital, against Leonora’s wishes, until he reminds her they have an important dinner that night with Estefania & her dad. That night, he tells his family & guests that he was struck by lightning and God saved his life for a reason. Everyone is, like, “o-kaaaaaay???”

Somehow, JuanaVic & Co. end up staying at Media Luna hotel courtesy of Xavier, who we learn is JuanO’s brother. JuanaVic tells him who she is looking for, and Xavi says he is his brother.

Later on, JuanO starts to tell Leonara what his sins that he must put right were, when there is someone at the door. Another telenovela trope --- Confesiónus interruptus. It’s JuanaVic! When JuanO sees her, he whispers “Mi abuela!”

JuanaVic immediately asks JuanO if he has a half moon birthmark at the base of his back, because if he does, then he is her bio-father. Leonora asks “how do you know about this? ( Leonora’s campy telenovela faces are really worth the time to watch this scene. ) JuanaVic tells JuanO how she learned of her paternity while he does not deny it. Leonora is NOT a happy camper.

JuanO tells JuanaV that he never knew about her before now, that he never saw her mother again but we are going to make up for lost time; I’ll do whatever necessary to make you happy.

Later that night at the beach, JuanO tells JuanaV that he does not know how his son will react to this news that he has a sister. Sebastian walks up right at that moment and has the cara de impactada & confusion. He asks JuanaV how old she is (23) and says to his dad that he and Leonora have been together 25 years so obvio that JuanO was unfaithful to his mother!!!

HIJAS - part 2 of 2

(this is written on the fly, because I've got to feed then walk the dog and be outta here by 5:30. Sorry for any typos, etc.)

That same night, Leonora is sin maquillaje and in bed, and Sebastian is telling her to calm down. “how can I calm down? “I‘ll be the laughing stock of Mazatlan! Make sure nobody finds out ab out his, including Estefania!“

Later, JuanO tells his brother Xavier tha6t he was unfaithful to Leonora four times in the same year. Oh my, he was a busy guy. HE had visited an herbalist in the city, to gave him a menjunje (concoction/potion) that would increase his fertility but it also increased his …. sex drive.

Sebas & JuanaVic are "discutiendo" that night; They got off on the wrong foot but Sebas wants her to keep quiet that JuanO is her bio-dad. Victoria uses some slang and idioms “hígado encebollado” (liver & onions?) and “se le quemaron los frijoles” (?what’s done is done? cat’s out of the bag? IDK…)

Sebas is worried about his mom, the family, etc. JuanaVic asks ‘who is worried about her???’ (girl has a point) They argue some more and finally JuanaVic throws in the towel, says she never should have come here, should have stayed in Mexico City where she was, she did not intend to destroy a family over this.

Leonora has locked JuanO out of the bedroom.
Juan: I’ll admit I’ve commited some sins
Leonora: (picking up on the plural form and confronts a justifiably sheepish JuanO) There were others? How many?
Juan: I’ve never needed a shot of tequila like I need this one now (and tosses one back like a pro)
Juan: Four. Different women. Explains about the herbal mixture made him do it. You and I were having difficult times.
Leonora: You’re going to tell me THEY took advantage of YOU? How many?
Juan: No, I initiated it. It was difficult to have relations with you back then.
Leonora: You’re blaming ME?
Juan: It is possible I have others
Leonora: Qué??? Three more?
Juan: Yes, there might be four kids in all.

Sebastian is trying to get a loan at the bank for some hotel-related project and the banker doesn’t want to do it. This must be important for down the road episodes.

Aaaaand that’s basically what happened today. A lot. The story is just chugging right along.

HIJAS

Hey DORIS, you're on fire when you're in a hurry. This is your best recap ever! Enjoyed it thoroughly. And totally agree that Cynthia Klitbo as Leonora is a hoot. Normally I'm very upset by infidelity storylines, but the way Leonora and her hubby are playing this, it's hysterical. And here he was, with a ramped-up sex drive, thanks to the menjuje and he and Leonor were only supposed to get together when she was ovulating (they were trying to produce a child of their own)....and-- Well, alright, scant justification for cheating four times, but juarever...we'll let it go because this is a very funny story so far. Whatever works.

confesionus interruptus
Dances with Sunglasses
campy telenovela faces
Aaaaaaand that's basically what happened today. A lot. The story is just chugging right along.

All of those were delightful lines and you wrote the whole recap with flair and verve. Lady, you should always be in a hurry! Now go enjoy your evening. And thanks so much.

HIJAS

Doris, this was wry and wonderful.

So, an unfaithful husband and multiple, related children.

I have always loved your "CrockPot Theories".

Thank you for "menjunje (concoction/potion)". Along with mi amiga Judy also loved "confesionus interruptus".

"Alberto (formerly known on the Patio as “Dances with Sunglasses” in Amores Verdaderos)". Oh my - I am crazy about Francisco Gattorno (Cynthia Klitbo's real life ex).

I was too busy today to try and read the synopsis so can't really comment further.

Hope you are having a great time tonight.

Diana

Hijas

Doris, thanks for this great and greatly funny recap! There is something to be said for writing in a white heat and letting it just pour out. It worked for H. Rider Haggard; six weeks to write She and about 80 million copies sold so far. You might want to try writing a novel.     :-)

I loved "confesionus interruptus", and I totally agree that "Cynthia Klitbo as Leonora the drama queen" was the highlight of the episode. Over the top, but great.

The herbalist who concocted that " menjunje (concoction/potion)" should bottle it and sell it here in the States as well as in Mexico. He/she would make a fortune.

andy

Doris you make like the flash, and
Make magic. This pretty much said it all. Lenora is Gonna keep this story
Sparkling with laughter.

The look on her face when he held up 4 fingers was golden hilarious. We can
Expect more of that.

Now it time for daughter No.2.
His bro is a very handsome man. He may
Have a thing for the godmother of jaunaVic. I love his salt n pepper beard, more salt than pepper he's nice
Lookin man.

The nun, The boxer, the card reading
Girl. So they are all the same age 23
But jaunaVic is 24 by a month or 2?
Since jaunO knows about the others he
Should prepare to pay for "4 weddings
And a devorce".Lenora might want one.
A devorce that is. Or she can stay there and bring us all joy with those
Funny expressions on her face.

Thank you Doris.

HIJAS

Thank you all for your kind comments.

"4 weddings
And a devorce".

Nina, that cracks me up.... and it might turn into "4 weddings and a funeral" after all those other daughters show up. LOL

HIJAS

Have an afternoon commitment today so if I do Cliffnotes, they'll be late. But Lordy! this funny, wacky story is SUCH a relief after the dirge that was Mañana. Still counting my blessings that you guys talked me out of sticking with it till the bitter end.

Hijas and adios Manana (without regrets)

Back from my forced hiatus from Caray, but enjoyed my time away.

Took me a day to catch up on all the comments in daytime.

Deleted all of Manana without watching, but as a glutton for punishment, I have to see where this dreck takes us. I'll be watching with FF>> in hand....as predictions have warned, that it goes from bad to worse. I'm only interested in seeing what Rafa is really up to and what he accomplishes. I'm tempted to write to Sr. Moreno and ask him if he's lost his marbles, serving us up this awful stuff as comedy. He certainly has lost his touch. Even the cast is having a hard time delivering.

Watched both episodes of Hijas. JuanaVic's hair cut HAS to go. I bet she gets a new "luke" before this is over. The premise reminds me of a side story in Avenida Brasil, also played for laughs. I'm ready for a really good comedy and this might be it.

Hijas and adios Manana again

Many many thanks to JudyB and Doris that made it possible for me to delete all of Manana I missed, without watching the episodes. It freed up a lot of space on my DVR.

You two will go down in the annals of Caray History as two of the most valiant recappers EVVA (since Lo Imperdonable and VEA at least). You deserve beanie crowns.

Anita - welcome back! I hope you had an enjoyable trip. Yes, we bailed out on Mañana but please let us know what Rafa is up to, if anything. The Patio is resilient; we have boarded the Hijas bus, so we'll see where this ride takes us. Hopefully a much smoother, enjoyable ride than Mañana.

I'm looking forward to Judy's recap and take on today's episode. There was one scene that had me literally laughing out loud.

JuanaVic's hairstyle is similar to Marina's hair in Sin Tu Mirada. What is it with that look? Ack.

It looks unwashed. That's not good. Her eyebrows don't look that bad.Much.

HIJAS #3 CLIFFNOTES ANOTHER HALF-MOON HALF-SISTER FOUND

Part 1

1. Leonor is playing her part to the hilt and has locked husband Juan out of the bedroom. Being an affectionate fella, he find it impossible to sleep alone in any of the empty five bedrooms so snuggles into his son's bed (head to feet, feet to head) after downing a carload of tequila. Sebastian is startled but understanding.
2. In Monterrey, Slimeball is back and moving in with a lot of suitcases. Juana Barbara refuses to shake his hand and give him a death glare. Later, she's furious that she froze and felt helpless when she saw his return. And remembers his disgusting abuse when she was 13 years old. But we suspect, as does she, that he is running from the law and that's why he's moving in again with her mother.
3. Juana Victoria and her madrina are waitressing at the hotel in order to have enough money to return to Mexico City. But Juan doesn't want his darling daughter to work; rather he wants her to go, along with Sebastien, to his other hot romance cities to see if any other children can be located.
4. Juana Inés has been dispatched to an elderly couple's home to help them out and get a taste of life outside the convent. It's going okay until the butcher lad comes to the door. Inés panics, stammers that it's a "wrong number" and flees. The old folks crack up.
5. Juana Soledad is about to get her heart broken. She and Genaro have had a hot night together and he's ready for an encore in the shower, when he gets a call. Goes off to answer it. Seems to be from a woman, rather than his boss as he claims. Soledad follows him as he "goes off to work" and sure enough, it's a babe, a hotel, and bad news. But when she confronts him, he seems to be convincing her it really was work. But in the reconciliation kiss, we see her slipping her hand into his pocket and stealing his cellphone. Uh oh!
6. Sebastian and Vicky are looking for Papa Juan's lover in Guadalajara. Alas, Magdalena Garcia died in an accident. But they locate a daughter of the right age, called Juana Soledad, a nurse. Joy joy. More on that later. But has anyone else noticed that Michelle's teeth are HUGE. Between the bangs, the bushy eyebrows and those enormous teeth, she still manages to be attractive. Just through bounce alone. And Sebastian definitely seems to be enchanted in spite of himself.
7. The photographer/gossip columnist/Facebook poster is coming on to Vicky's madrina. She fends him off saying "ya no me cuezo al primer hervor" [I'm too grown up for these fun and games, sonny]

HIJAS #3 CLIFFNOTES: ANOTHER HALF-MOON HALF-SISTER FOUND

Part 2

8. Sebastian is making up a work story to explain his absence to Estefania. She wants to come along with him on his trip, but he says he'll be working too hard. She's to meet with the wedding planner to go over the menu. Kiss kiss kiss which Dad Dario interrupts. He wants to convince Sebastian to borrow money from him rather than the bank for his new hotel projects. Seb says No. He wants to do this all on his own, and abruptly leaves. Dario looks pissed.
9. Vicky and Seb are having a grand time in the plane. Her first time flying of course. Meanwhile Estefania has gotten a text revealing that her fiancé is actually going to Guadalajara with a woman. Runs to Leonora who promptly reassures her not to believe everything she sees on social media. All better. But then Leonor, dragging along a munchkin (since she's not speaking to her husband) confronts Juan about his plans to send son and Vicky off in search of other offspring. Lots of garbled messages.
10. Seb manages to calm down Estefania over the phone and promises to explain all when he gets back to town.
11. Soledad, in the meantime, has called all the young women listed in Genaro's contacts and invited them to his birthday party that afternoon at the café where she first met her slimy fiancé. She cries a lot but manages to blow up a lot of balloons. Soon the girls arrive. Four of them as I recall. Major glares. Then major catfight. (Hope Andy's watching!)
Our sadder but wiser gal arrives at work late, only to find Vicky and Seb waiting for her. Vicky consoles her by listening to her sad tale in some kind of storeroom. And calls her by her name. There's mutual reveals of the birthmark. Joy joy on the part of the girls. Sebastian looks a bit overcome but he's game.
12. Ines has fled from the old folks' house and is back praying in the chapel and weeping. Mother Superior finds her.

So...as Doris said yesterday, this tale is chugging along at a great rate. Dario and Slimeball (I refuse to remember his name) are the Bad Guys. Leonor is a hoot. And could go either way. Juan is a lovable but unreliable hubby. But who can stay mad at him? Though Leonora is trying. Sebastian and Vicky seem fated for each other, which means he must be illegitimate or they got the test tubes mixed up. As for the other sisters, who knows? I do hate stories of sexual abuse and there's nothing comic about Juana Barbara's situation. But we'll see how that story unfolds. And maybe Ines will end up with the cute butcher boy. Hang on Patio. This one's moving fast.

HIJAS

Thank you for your recap, Judy!

JuanO had me laughing when it was obvio that he gave up the shot glass and was drinking straight from the tequila bottle.
Then, when he told JuanaVic about his other conquests, Victoria said STTE of 'you didn't waste time, did you' but what really cracked me up was when she next asked "didn't you have TV?" As in ... weren't there other things to do?

Did you notice the Mexican Greek chorus in the background in the scene with Estefi's father? Proof that He must be a bad guy. LOL

Sebas and JVic seem to be getting along better today. Judy, I'm starting a Leo-is not-Sebas-bio-mom table on the Patio. CrockPot Theory©️, you know.

Well I'll join you at any table Doris. For sure Sebastian can't be Juan's "sangre" since that would nix a hook-up with Vicky. But could our saintly (hah!) Leonora have cheated on cheating hubby Juan? That would be a fun development. Whatever. We'll just ride along with this one until we find out. Such a relief to cruise and not take anything too seriously. Manana was giving me an ulcer!

I have to smile at your excellent summaries being labeled as Cliffnotes. Umm, hardly.

Only a true writer can engage and intrigue someone not even watching this, which you have definitely done.

"it's a babe, a hotel, and bad news" was my hands down favorite. "ya no me cuezo al primer hervor" [I'm too grown up for these fun and games, sonny]" was a close runner-up.

I also think Michele is beautiful but have seen her photos as she appeared in this and did not care for her "luke" at all.

doris, another sure to be true "CrockPot Theory©️" :)

Anita returns (yay) and you leave. Traveling mercies and safe return.

All of my comments (except where noted) are directed to our dear Judy.

Apologies, no excuse other than it's been a long week.

JudyB, thank you for some yummylicious Cliff Notes, very much appreciated.

Leonora is the character and drama queen who I most enjoy in this show, followed by Juana Inés and the butcher lad. Very funny all of it.

Juana Victoria and Sebastián are interesting. All signs point to a romance coming along, so possibly "Momma's baby, Poppa's maybe" here? We've had cousins romantically involved a couple of times, but I think half-siblings would be too much, so maybe somebody ain't who he thinks, me thinks.

Anyway, this TN is all good, clean fun so far. OK nonetheless.

:-)

Good morning ANITA, DIANA and ANDY. Yes, so far it's all "good, clean fun" (never thought I'd say that about an infidelity story...just goes to show). And definitely betting on Momma's Baby, Poppa's Maybe for Sebastian. Plus plenty of tortured, repressed longings before our two young people find out they're not related. In the meantime, yes, let's have lots more of our uber-dramatic Leonora. And keep it light...we're still dealing with PTSD from Mañana.

Good morning patio pals.

JudyB, girl you know How To whip up a good story and Make It even funnier than the folks that really whipped it up.
I loves the way Soledad outed her cheat of a boyfriend. He gets a call and go From his girlfriend to his ho friend without Even a 2nd thought. Love the way she extracted his lime green phone from his work jacket pocket. And set up that last goodby birthday party. That was sweet. Give him what He Want most for his birthday his side pieces. She Freed herself and she did it perfectly.
How Stupid is he? He had a woman That
Uses her brain, but he prefer women who use whats between their legs. Stupid genaro.

When I saw Leo dragging that cute little guy to her husband's office I
Thought maybe he was a relative, but no. Who's child did she kidnap. And the lil fella hand no idea what to say
He was a cutie with those blue eye glasses.

That low-life that abused jaunaB, hope
His Time is short in this story. But something Tells me he's gonna drag her and her mom into his slimy dealings.

One thing I can say about these girls, they have no qualms about exposing their partial butts to moon folks.Lol.

Thank you judyB, for another superb recap. What a fun story. Minus the sexual abuse part. The sooner they get rid of that looser the better.

Hey Ms. NINA...thanks for checking in. We always love hearing from you, and certainly glad that Hijas has turned out to be a better choice than the depressing Mañana...which should have been named Mañana Será un Dia PEOR!!!!!!

Not sure who the little guy was, but he was hanging around the photographer/gossip columnist that first night when they found Victoria and her madrina wandering around the beach.

Too bad about the abuse angle in this story, but you're right, the rest looks to be good fun, 'though I'm sure Estefania's Dad Dario will be doing something underhanded money wise. But that doesn't creep me out the ways abuse of children and teenagers does. Ugh and double ugh.

Hijas w/a sprinkling of Manana

Late to the festivities, I know. Been staying up late catching up on other saved DVR's and that makes it a late start on Caray.

Thank you, Doris for the Cliff-nots. Amazing what full pictures can be painted in one's mind with so few words.

I like little Mundito, if that's his name (with the glasses) better than Nico. Nico is getting on my nerves. He just wants his daddy back. Don't think Cam is going to make it back any time soon. As we suspected, Moni doesn't go to Cancun - hurricane (just like on La Usurpadora). Rafa trades places with Mauricio for a presentation and Mau doesn't do a very good job. Cam faints in an elevator just as Moni says she and Di are accomplices, but doesn't have time to say in what. Oh, and Luis' sister comes to town on a bus and gets robbed by her seat-mate while she naps. She saves some lady's purse from a grab-and-run thief by kicking him where it really hurts and thereby gets a job. Except for this last turn of events, Nothing New Under the Manana Sun.
