HIJAS #4 CLIFFNOTES: HUGS, LIES AND WATCH OUT FOR DOÑA LEONORA

Part 1

Last time I check in before "flying the unfriendly skies". Being herded into these sardine planes and seats designed for midgets is about as much fun as traveling in steerage. But I digress. Let's get to the doings of all these cute people in our current telenovela.

1. We begin with a very sad Juana Inés and an equally heartbroken Juana Soledad. Inés because her mom abandoned her at the convent door. Didn't she love me? Was I so awful? Mother Superior advises her not to judge. She was left, wrapped in a shabby blanket but with a locket containing her mother's picture. (No doubt this will be helpful when Vicky and Seb locate her.)
And Juana Soledad, because she's been alone and sad ever since the accident that killed her mom and brother and landed her in the orphanage. But she thought she'd found love and family at last with her novio. Turns out she was just part of a two-bit secret harem of four.
2. She gets some robust hugging and consoling from toothy Juana Victoria and is finally persuaded to come with her and Sebastian to Mazatlán. There's nothing left for her here. They're off to see Papa.
3. Alas, our abuse story continues to be icky. Sleazeball enters Barbara's room while she's sleeping, uncovers her, runs his hand along her bare legs and is proceeding upwards when she awakes. Threatens to punch him out. He's amused rather than scared. Finally exits after she belts him a good one in the eye. But still grinning his evil leer.
4. Soledad arrives in Mazatlán and a Hug-o-Rama ensues. Papa Juan is thrilled that he's found another one of his darling daughters. Seb meanwhile has rushed off to try and mend fences with his suspicious fiancée.
5. Final disgusting abuse scene. Barbara accuses Sleaze at breakfast but Mom chooses to believe Sleaze's denials rather than Barbara's truth. Barb storms out after flinging some orange juice on the Toad. Mom asks Sleaze to forgive her daughter and he says Of course. I'll forgive her because I love you. Gag and double gag.
6. Mother Superior has found Inés another job--but this time she can come back to the convent to sleep. And guess where it is!?--the local market where our charming butcher boy, Rubin, is working too. Dum da dum dum!
7. Seb pledges Este to total secrecy about Dad's extracurricular, highly fertile activities and warns her to keep quiet about Soledad. Well too late! She already talked to his mom because of the Facebook gossip. Oh well.
8. And Soledad is now face to face with Leonora at the hotel. Doesn't know who she is but has a vision of an evil Medusa-like character as she stares, horrified at the woman's face. This does not bode well. We like Leonora right? She's great fun. But evidently she has a darkly evil side. Oh well.
9. Barb and her gym buddy go looking for Sleazeball's old home with his second wife. It appears to be abandoned.
10. And Leonora wastes no time corralling son Sebastien and telling him he's not to see Juana Victoria again-- ever, ever, in his whole life!

HIJAS #4 CLIFFNOTES: HUGS, LIES AND WATCH OUT FOR DOÑA LEONORA

Part 2

11. Soledad lets Vicky know about her vision. For sure it means Leonora is going to make their lives absolutely miserable.
12. Leonora is still tightening the maternal screws on Seb. You're either with me or against me! Why did Vicky come NOW...after 23 years?! She must want something. MONEY of course! Why didn't she stay home and mourn her dead mama and leave us be!
13. Seb shrugs it off. And Vicky is actually empathetic when he tells her about Mama's edict. Just put yourself in her shoes, she reasons. Tough to learn--after 25 years of a happy marriage--that your mate has been....well, mating. Elsewhere. And in a fertile way. Four times.
14. Soledad has dubbed Leonora Doña Espinas [Lady Thorns]
15. Dad is now working on Vicky and Seb to find his other two blowby's'. For instance is there one in Puebla? And what were they doing there? Turns out he went with Leonora so she could pray to the Immaculate Conception Virgin for a son. Evidently while she was praying, he was doing a little work on the side. With a lovely young lady who was sweet, cheerful and very religious. Seb takes that last part with a grain of salt.
16. Vicky totally understands Papa and can't figure why Seb can be such a churl sometimes.
17. At the market, Inés is a whiz at making change and learns that her butcher boy has a good heart. All day he's been on the phone trying to find a missing child. Her employer, Marta, describes Ruben as "noble hasta decir basta" [unbelievably noble] Inés melts even more.
18. Doña Espinas is sowing some seeds of Fake News. Tells the wee sidekick of Todoelmundo that the real identity of the mystery woman is the illegitimate daughter of Javier, Juan's righteous, clean-living brother. But it's a secret, right? Riiiight.
19. Barb and buddy have now gone to police station and seen a Wanted poster of Sleazeball, for assault and battery and attempted homicide. Yikes!
20. Vicky and Seb quibble about who sowed the false story. When she points out it had to be someone "who worries about what people will say" he finally admits it "might be" his mom.
21. Leonora is having a blast reading all the derogatory comments about Javier. Hard to hate her, she's so funny.
22. Juan lowers the hammer and insists Vicky and Seb locate his next daughter. They both decide their bossy natures come straight from ol' Dad.
24. Soledad goes to her room only to find it's topsy-turvy and somebody is behind a door, singing and working. It's a meet-cute with the guy hired to make a connecting door between her room and Vicky's. He's ready to take her out that very night, but she's allergic to men right now. Stay tuned.
25. Estefe is serving dinner to Dad and brother. Dad is all over Estefe like a rash, praising her cooking and her very precious existence. And wants her to get Seb to borrow his money from dear old suegro rather than the bank. Brother, on the other hand, gets nothing but dismissal and criticism from Dario. Interesting.
25. Rubin walks Inés home from the market and she tells him she'd like to find the mother than abandoned her at the convent door. He immediately puts out a call on social media and Seb fields it. They have a hit! Vicky, who's been snoozing on the couch, cuddles in close to read Rubin's request for info on Seb's iPad. They have one of those LOOKS again, like Some Enchanted Evening. And there we end...with our cozy couple on the hunt again for Una Otra Juana.

So far, a very fun ride. Even with Medusa Doña Espinas promising mischief and mayhem.

Ah judyB, another good one. Leonora is
A card ain't she? "You're not to see
Juana Victoria again-ever ever in your
Life". Yeah like he's gonna listen to
Her. Seb is giving JuanaV the look of♡
Amor."when the moon hits your eye like
A big pizza pie it's amore`" only in this case a crescent moon.
Is it "piece of pie" or "pizza pie"?

Well they're stickin with the scary
Theme of holloween. Leonora looks good
As the queen of hell. And Soledad are
Not scared o huh.

Stephania's brother(I think that's her
Brother) looks like one of the guys on the beach in the opening credits. Wasn't he the one at the dinner table who was bored and started To leave and Dario told him to sit. He Was not a happy camper. If he falls for one of the girls, his dad won't be either. Or
Will he?

Hopefully Barbara can get the abuser
Out of her mother's life and hers. I
Don't like it when the mother or dad don't believe the pervert is doing the
Disgusting things to the child when the child tells them. What the hell is
Wrong with these parents? That guy is
Slimy. They could have left this story
Line out.

Stephania's dad is a crook.

Thanks JudyB. Keep em comin.

JudgB I think I wrote my comment while
You were writing the 2nd part of the
Recap.
So he is her brother!

Lenora is spreading meanness amongst
The family. Lying Leo.

MAÑANA (Special Report :)

Well, Judy did warn us...

BTW Judy, have a good trip, it's not all about the unfriendly skies.

Over the last few days a bunch of stuff happened in Mañana, but the big development is:

Monica and Camilo are on an elevator alone and Monica tells him that she and Diana have been partners (in whatever). He faints, out cold. They revive him enough that Monica can get him home to Rafa's place. Ximena gives him a pill that she sometimes uses when she has blood pressure problems; Monica warns about self-medication, but he takes the pill anyway and they put him to bed.
Later Monica looks in on him and a slightly groggy Camilo gets a bit amorous, Monica does not resist, and wham bam, thank you, ma'am! We finally see a contented smile on Monica's face.

:-) but more so.

Later, when Camilo wakes up more or less clear headed he is shocked when he realizes he made love to Monica and not to his wife; the medicine he took can cause hallucinations, etc. (Sure, sure. If I had ever been in such a situation I would have just shot myself rather than try to sell such a story. Sheesh, telenovelas! I shudder to think what buying into such stories is doing to our brains.)

Shocked, shocked Camilo is. Long story short, soon everybody knows. Diana confronts Monica, tells Monica she is healthy now and the deal is off, Monica says "No way, Baby" and then to herself "War has been declared!" She's going to fight for Camilo.

Whether this is an improvement in the story or a further descent to a lower ring of Hades, I leave as an exercise for the reader.

:-)

HIJAS

Hmmmm NINA, I see you have been studying the fellas on the beach verrrry carefully. Shrewd of you to peg Este's brother as one of the potential partners for the Juanas. I will trust your judgment completely. You're part of the medical field after all, so I'm sure that close attention was strictly professional. And yep, our Leo is a lying Leo. But still a funny lady, thank goodness.

ANDY, ANDY, ANDY....I am trying sooo hard to forget what you just told me. But it's burned into my brain. Seared. Charred and broiled even. What a disgusting development. But thanks for watching that dreck so we didn't have to. Ewwwwwwww...Monica and Camilo in bed. I may not be able to eat tonight, ewwwwwwww....but I'm pretty sure I will, actually. Still....ewwwwwwwwwww.

HIJAS

Oh and NINA, I'm pretty sure it's "like a big pizza pie". Now that I've got that song going, I want to watch Moonstruck again. What a great film that was.

Hijas and Manana es Para Nunca (hehe)

JudyB--Haven't watched Hijas yet. Can't comment yet. Thanks JudyB for the just before lift-off recapacito. Unless someone else has spoken up, I can do a recap of Hijas tomorrow.

Andy--I added a few words onto Wed's thread about Manana, but forgot completely (no wonder) of the one-sided horizontal tango. I can't really believe Camilo did all he did unconsciously. The director de escenas certainly made sure we saw every move he made. Now, if it had only been Santiago (Diego Olivera) making love to Laura (Silvia Navarro) when they find each other again, I would have loved watching again. In this case, it was all I could do to hold down my Chai Tea.

Judyb...Thank you so much for explaining everything so clear!y ! I think this is going to be a good show. I notice so many familiar faces .

YAY

Andy....no no no...say it isn't so. So am so glad that I quit that awful show. Basta. Hasta nunca.

HIJAS

Thank you for another great CliffNotes recaplet, Judy, because I knew to FFWD-> thru the JuanaBarb/Alberto scene. Ugh...

The little boy with the blue glasses is Mundito (per my closed captions), and his fire-engine red lipstick today was worse than anything Rafa has worn in Mañana.

Just how does Leo think she can order Sebas to stay away from Vic? She's his sister. They share a father. She is nuts. Gah!

It seems incredible that Sebastian is getting along so well with Victoria and actually on board with finding the other possible siblings. Wouldn't he be worried about his inheritance getting spread too thin? Oh, well, this is telenovelalandia.
#suspendingdisbelief #wearingmytelenovelabeaniehat

Hopefully JuanaBarbara will tell the police (WHILE SHE IS ALREADY THERE!) exactly where they can find Alberto.

Oh Andy, thank you (I think?) for filling us in on what happened in Mañana Será Otra Pesadilla. I am sooo glad I stopped watching that show. Caray!

JuanaSoledad's vision of Leo might just come true in its own way. We still don't know what the Tarot Death Card was about, do we, besides the death of her relationship with that two-timing Genaro(?).

JuanaInes's face often reminds me of Maite Perroni. I need to stop thinking about that. ~rolls eyes~

Judy - have a great trip!

Patio, I might be able to do a recap of tomorrow's show but possibly not until Saturday morning. If anyone wants/can do one earlier than that, please jump in!

HIJAS

Detailed and riddled with wonderful wit Judy.

I'd love to see "noble hasta decir basta" [unbelievably noble]" Ruben! Someday..."Doña Espinas [Lady Thorns]" was also grand.

"sowing some seeds of Fake News" had me laughing away.

"Tough to learn--after 25 years of a happy marriage--that your mate has been....well, mating. Elsewhere. And in a fertile way. Four times." So I would imagine! :)

Very sad that Barbara's mother would believe any man over her daughter. I know that it happens but it never fails to disgust. Run, don't walk Barbara. And never look back.

"They have one of those LOOKS again, like Some Enchanted Evening. And there we end...with our cozy couple on the hunt again for Una Otra Juana". Sounds very promising...

Andy, thank you for the Manana update (loved your commentary). I can't make up my mind what is more repugnant. That Cam and Monica actually "did it" (I don't believe he was semi-incoherent at all!) or that Monica had the gaul to tell Diana she is going to fight for her husband.

Judy, safe travels...thank you for all the work you've done and continue to do recapping so beautifully.

Diana

Hijas

Nina, something you said yesterday, "One thing I can say about these girls, they have no qualms about exposing their partial butts to moon folks.Lol."

It never occurred to me, but you are right, these girls are mooning people without fully pulling their pants down. I wonder if there is something like "to moon somebody" in Spanish. No doubt there is such a verb, but there might be no connection to the word "moon". But this TN is so full of references to the moon...

andy

ANITA...Welcome back. I can't believe that you and Andy are still watching Mañana, but I do love that you managed to obliterate the Camilo/Monica bed scene from your memory. Wish I could do that with some of the horrors I see or read about. Great ability to compartmentalize, querida.

SUSANLYNN...Yes, I think our Patio is going to have fun with this one. Lots of familiar faces and a light-hearted approach, except for the Juana Bárbara story.

DORIS...I think we are supposed to believe that Sebastian is a noble guy who wants to make it on his own...thus, his refusal to borrow any money from his father-in-law-to-be.
Therefore he's focused on his own efforts, not any inheritance. Leonora, though, is more about the money and she likes that Estefania is from a very rich family. I know I shouldn't like Leo but I do. So far.

DIANA...Goshdarnit...You are so supportive. Wish that you could have the fun of watching this with us. Earning a living can be very inconvenient sometimes.

ANDY...I can see you have been giving the issue of girls' backsides some deep thought.
I don't think "mooning" has an equivalent in Spanish. But it was a full moon here the other night which may be affecting your thought processes. And it reminds me of one time when I scared the bejesus out of my weight training class. I came in wearing sweat pants, turned around and pulled them down. Fortunately I was wearing some red hot Christmas boxer shorts underneath. But there were some startled gasps I can tell you.

Andy we've been Havin harvest moons here lately. So bright we could turn the street lights. But the city wont.
Very beautiful. I only live a few blocks from the beach, and I never seen the moon rise over the ocean. Eh
Maybe one day. Now are those crescent moons suppose to be their birth marks?

I noticed the moon was enormous last night when I was driving home from my daughter's house. We certainly had some interesting conversations here on the patio about the moon...Strawberry Moon...Blood Moon..Blue Moon...Goodnight Moon

Ot...wow,Nina,living so close to the beach sounds like heaven to me.

HIJAS

NINA - yes, those half moon birthmarks are inherited from their father, JuanO. He has one just like it in the same place. There was no need to do a DNA test.

Hijas

Doris beat me to it Nina, but yeah, the moons are supposed to be birthmarks from the father.

A bit farfetched for me, and the moon keeps figuring into some many things that I think they are overdoing it. I'm still waiting for the perfect TN.

:-)

I do hope Leonora does not turn out to be especially bad because she's so much fun sometimes. I think she's just upset about the changes since the daughters arrived, and I think there might just be a story here about Sebastián's parentage. Doris, "There was no need to do a DNA test." Right, now does Sebastián have one?

andy

Hijas
Doris—
I guess you didn’t read my comment. I was willing to recap tomorrow, but I now defer to you.
I can put something up on Monday. It’ll give me more time to get to know the characters.

And I figured out who Mundito was. I said after Wed’s episode that I like him better than Nico.

HIJAS

Andy -- "Right, now does Sebastián have one?". Ooooooh, excellent question!!! Why didn't I think of that?!?

Anita - I probably did read your comment but did not absorb it. I also suffer from CRS (Can't Remember 'Stuff' 😉) when I read quickly on busy days. And we have been busy, lately. Gah.

And yes, I will do a recaplet for today to give you more time to get to know these crazy characters.

We are on the home stretch of a 17-week-long (as of today but who's counting?!? 🤪) complete Master Bath remodel (down to the 2x4s) on top of other stuff, so yesterday I was scheduling hardwood floor refinishers to come next week to give me estimates on those parts of the house. we should be done in another two weeks. Yay!!! This house is 33 years old and needs the work done. I'm so tired of breathing remodel dust. Drywall dust is the worst, then tile dust, and the floors will be the final step. I hope. Then we will have all the windows cleaned, blinds cleaned .... oh noes! it never stops. LOL. No wonder I lost patience with Mañana. It was not a happy escape.

And then there is that latest iOS 13 update to all my idevices and cursing my way through learning it. Note to Apple: Hey guys, if it ain't broke, why fix it???!!!

Oh well, today's task is tare down the dust covered drapes and deliver to the dry cleaners, and hope they don't disintegrate because they are 25 years old. Pfffft! If they do, I'll be making new ones. 🙄

OT

Am I the only one who keeps mistaking some of the promos for "Cuna de lobos" for a perfume commercial?

andy

HIJAS - hot off the press. Part 1 of 3 (I think-this is long)

Moving right along . . . Here is my recap with errors, omissions, and awful, horrible, no good translations. The CCs were not cooperating today. Then the TV signal went out in a couple of times and all I had was the multi-color bars on the screen. Valgame Dios! Maybe our Patio can fill in those holes.
Many scenes are lumped together instead of the chronological order in which they were broadcast. Otherwise, my brain - and maybe yours - feels like one of those pinball machines.

- JVictoria & Sebas received the message that JuanaInés has been found.

JBarbara shows her mother the Wanted poster of Alberto. Margarita tears it up and asks JBarb “how müch did it cost you to have this printed up? Ouch. She accuses JBarb of trying to break up her and Al.

Faster than the speed of light, we next see Sebas & JuanaVic at Mother Superior’s office, ‘splaining themselves. Then for some reason, Inés is up on a ledge of the bell tower, looking like she is going to jump. The townspeople below are horrified. Sebas gos up the tower to talk her down. Lots of drama where we are made to think Ines will fall while JuanaVic, Ruben, and Mother Superior are on the ground with the townies, looking on. Everyone is relieved when Sebas reels her in.

Back in Mother S’s office, JuanaInes is told who her father is, JuanaVic “moons” them all, they invite JInes to come and meet her dad and other sister. JuanaInes does not want to leave….”what if my mother comes for me?” Mother Superior, in all her wisdom (and we now know why she is the Mother Superior) says “She hasn’t come in 23 years, do you really think she’ll come now?” So apparently JInes has nothing to lose and goes with Seb & JVic to meet her bio-dad.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there is a big production with the blogger recording it all, JuanO makes a public statement to whoever will listen that Leonora made up the story about JuanaVic being Xavier’s daughter. It’s not true, she is HIS daughter. People are appalled. He is clueless.

JuanO comes home with a prezzie for Leo, who still is not talking to him and using Edmundito as their intermediary. Okay, this is starting to get old. Grow up, Leo.
Mundito says if they’re chocolates, will you give me one? NO such luck, dear boy, it is a box of ginormous loose pearls. Madder than a wet hen, Leo starts throwing them at JuanO while yelling at him. (I guess she forgot Mundito is her intermediary). One of the pearls flies into JuanO’s open mouth and down his throat. Choking. Leo does the Heimlich Maneuver on him, saving his life, then tells him to go die. Today. (I think that’s what she said) Can this marriage be saved?

HIJAS --- Part 2 of 3

JuanaBarbara sees her mom down on the street coming home. She tries to set up a trap with Alberto macking on her in hopes Margarita will walk in on them and see Al for the dog that he is. It works and a drunk Alberto tries to have his way with JBarbara. Margarita walks in on them, goes ballistic, says I’m sorry daughter, forgive me for not believing you! She calls Al “asqueroso” and “infeliz”. Behind Marga’s back, Al gives JBarbara the slit-your-throat sign with his hand (he is soooo evil!). JuanaBarbara backpedals and tells her mom she provoked Alberto, it was all hr fault.

Mom says to JBarb “we’re going to have a talk!” So they talk a walk. And talk. JuanaBarbara tells her mother about the time Alberto molested her when she was young, many years ago. For some reason, Margarita believes her and is so sorry that happened. JuanaBarb says what’s important is that we tell the police where he is.

JuanaB asks her mom what is Al’s wife #2’s name? They track her down and visit her in the hospital. Oooh, hospital scene! Too bad I’m not playing Telenovela Bingo! This poor wife #2 is all beaten up and looks like she might be in a coma. Margarita asks JuanaBarabara to forgive her. Yes, Patio, the scales have fallen from her eyes! They hug. And they go to the police station where they tell the police where to find Alberto.

Back at their apartment, JuanaBarb does not want Marga to enter the apartment. “Wait until after he is arrested by the police!” Alberto walks out the door at that moment, hears the word police, grabs both of them and throws them into the apartment and begins to assault them.

Oh, but wait! It’s a telenovela miracle! Massive telenovela beanie hat moment (one of many, but I digress) Just in the nick of time, Sebastian and JuanaVictoria walk through the open apartment door. Sebas has his superhero moment, lands a good one on Al and that’s that. Next, we see Al in handcuffs being escorted out by the police. Al yells at them and says he will kill them. Yikes. Methinks we have not seen the last of ElBaddo … er … Alberto. He’ll be back, just like mold and mildew. Juana Barbara tells her mother they have. got. to. get. out. of town. now.

Nice scene on the beach where Xavier and JuanO are talking about life … well, this ….. situation. The CCs were bailing out on me so this might not be accurate or even close. JuanO says he never could that imagined Leo would invent that lie about JuanaVic being Xavi’s daughter. Xavi reminds him that his wife of 25 years, Leo, can’t believe he was unfaithful FOUR TIMES. You can’t expect her to forgive you. You’ve always been naïve.

Dario pays Leo a visit, Leo who thinks Dario came to terminate their kids’ engagement now that this scandal is public. Leo says no, we need to talk about the wedding plans. They talk, I don’t catch it all and the CCs are worthless, but sounds like Dario offers Leo his place in San Diego(?) to go stay there for a while. She says she can’t, there’s the wedding to plan. Dario, looking at Leo in a very slimy way this whole time (yeah, he wants to go to his condo with Leo), tells her she is the most wonderful person he knows and looks like a lovesick puppy (but still a slimy one) as he says this. Ew.
So, okay, now Juan O has met JuanaInés and he sees her hold the locket her mother left with her. JuanO recognizes it, says he gave it to her mother. This is when the Univision transmission went out and if there was more, please fill in, Patio peeps. However, I doubt anything profound happened. Then JoanO tells JuanaVic & Sebastian that “Margarita Treviño” is the fourth woman.

HIJAS - Part 3 of 3

Sebas is later asleep on the sofa and JuanaVic softly says STTE of ‘when you’re asleep like that, you’re neither liver nor onions. (what IS it with the liver & onions?) JuanO comes bursting into the office and says he has found hija #4! I’m not sure how he found this picture of JuanaBarbara ‘rassling or boxing but her half-moon is showing. That’s her!

Juana Inés is freaked out about having to share a room with JuanaSoledad. She has always had her own room. This girl has lead such a sheltered life …. gah. But she gets over herself and starts unpacking. Yay.

Stefi, in a red dress so short that I have tunic tops longer that that thing, is not happy that Sebas is going off to Monterey. We’re supposed to meet with the priest tomorrow about our wedding! Take daddy’s plane. Sebas- no. I’m not sure how they got there, but Sebas & JuanaVic show up in Monterrey faster than the speed of light. These kids let no grass grow under their feet.

Here we have JuanO with all 4 daughters + Margarita + Xavier + Sebastian, sitting around a table outside. JuanO wants to toast his daughters. Leo does not, as she stomps up to the nice tableaux and crashes the party. “Toast the FOUR illegitimate(!) daughters of JuanO? Eh, cat got your tongue? And you, JuanaVictoria, toasting the “happiness””you have brought upon us?”
JuanaVic: Yes, of course, because we ARE all happy!
Leo: Don’t you talk to ME like that!
(Sebas hauls JuanaVic away from the scene and over to the beach)
Leo: Are you happy,now, JuanO???

Sebastian chews out JuanaVic for smarting off to his mother like that. After 25 years of marriage, and she finds out her husband has FOUR daughters! (as in, give her a break and show some respect)
JuanaVic: I have three sisters and I will stick up for them, no. matter. what!
Sebastian: You. are. awesome!!! AND he mouth-kisses her!!! Hot and heavy!!! (QUË??? THEY’RE HALF-SIBS!!! or are they???)
And JuanaVictoria kisses him back! Hot and heavy!!! (oh yeah, I’m a child of the 60s and 70s with my ancient slang) Tongues might have been involved. Ack! I’m fanning myself.
AND this goes on for some time. Finally, JuanaVic probably remembers this is her brother(!) and breaks the kiss, pulls back. OMG, What’s up with this??? It’s a mistake!!! They both agree “never again” so in telenovelaland this means it will happen, just stay tuned. But the chemistry is there.
JuanaVic runs to her room, to mull this over and shed a tear.
Sebastian goes and sits on the beach, in a daze, and sits there while the tide comes in and soaks his trousers. Finally, his phone alerts him to a text message. Oh noes! It’s from Stefi of the short red skirt/red tunic. He takes off running to get on with his lfie.

Oh, wait, while the half-sibs are making out on the beach, Leo has fainted up at the table. Nobody knows why. (no, she did not see the kids besandose). Finally an ambulance takes her to the hospital. (I wonder if she will get a neck brace/collar?)

Back to the other three sisters. Margarita gets her own room, but Xavi has no more rooms available. JuanaBarbara will have to share that room with JSol & JInes. She is not happy about it. (ugh…. all the “only children”) Only Soledad is happy. But it is what it is, so JuanaBarb picks a bed and they settle in.

Final scene with Stefi, Sebastian, and the priest. Sebas is still in a daze (that must have been some kiss!) and totally not paying attention to the convo. His phone rings, it is JuanO telling him about Leo. “How is mama?”

And that’s it for today’s show.

Patio, there is no way in heck that Sebas can be JuanO’s bio-son. Leo has to be hiding something; maybe that is why she is making so much noise about JuanO’s infidelity? Put all the attention on him. And I want to see Sebastian in a swimsuit. Soon. For the sake of science -- we need to know if the has a half-moon birthmark. Right? Um, yes.

Hijas--

Doris, you roll with the ocean waves crashing on the beach and not a drop left out. Thanks.

Of course Seb WON'T have the half-moon--unless Xavier has one, too. Me thinks while hub was bed-hopping and Leo wasn't ovulating, Xavier got into her bed--or she gave up and went to a fertility clinic and got a dose of someone else's little swimmers.

More tomorrow. I'm beat and I don't have any house upgrades going on--YET. It's all in the planning stages, so no dust.

So doris, here you are in the midst of renovations, yet you take the time to craft this fantastic recap.

You don't need captions. Obvio. This was just wonderful. You explained everything so clearly and with great wit.

"ElBaddo … er … Alberto. He’ll be back, just like mold and mildew" was my favorite of many and had me laughing away. "Yes, Patio, the scales have fallen from her eyes!" was runner up.

"Mother Superior, in all her wisdom (and we now know why she is the Mother Superior) says “She hasn’t come in 23 years, do you really think she’ll come now?” Wise words sister...

While I was mercifully spared seeing and hearing any of Alberto's abuse, I'm relieved Marg has come to her senses. But, again, not listening to her daughter is almost unforgiveable. There are times we shouldn't need to "see", to have proof to believe. It's called faith.

Yes, I agree the half sibs must be unrelated. Otherwise the "ick" factor would be off the scale.

Thank you doris. "...you roll with the ocean waves crashing on the beach and not a drop left out". Anita said it best.

Good luck on your reno. I'm sure it will be worth the wait!

Doris, girl you typed Throught all that reno dust a cooked us up a mess of delish liver & ounions! Yummo! Lol.

Yeah I don't think they are blood related either. I will be glad when there's A change in hair n makeup for jaunaVic. That's a wig. A bad one too.

That red dress/blouse could use some
Lengthening.

Doris, thank you much for your lengthy, extremely fun recap! You made me laugh more than once.

I especially liked 'Mother Superior, in all her wisdom (and we now know why she is the Mother Superior) says “She hasn’t come in 23 years, do you really think she’ll come now?”'

"Then for some reason, Inés is up on a ledge of the bell tower, looking like she is going to jump. The townspeople below are horrified. Sebas gos up the tower to talk her down. Lots of drama where we are made to think Ines will fall while JuanaVic, Ruben, and Mother Superior are on the ground with the townies, looking on. Everyone is relieved when Sebas reels her in."

Yeah, why was she up there anyway? Did butcher lad smile at her again? In any event she was very much taken with Sebastian who had saved her life. I suspect this girl is going to be trouble. She never met or dated boys when she was a teenager so she probably still has a lot of leftover hormones just waiting to swing into action.

Dario has been an obvious slime ball right from the start. First he wanted to entangle Sebastian in a business deal, now he's trying, in a very slimy way, to get to first base with Leonora.

OK, we know he's no good. Don Juan (hmmm) is not a slime ball, but I'm still not totally happy with him. Going around Mexico for a year impregnating women here and there. Then 23 years later he finds out he has daughters, and "Yay! how nice!" Meh. I think JuanaVic's mother croaked, right? It didn't take him long to get over that. OK, it's a telenovela, it's a telenovela, it's just a story, it's just a story.

BTW, does anyone else think that the ama de llaves looks like she could be related to Jade Fraser (Juana Soledad)?

Andy, I know what you mean about how much JuanaSol and a Teresa look alike. Something about their eyes and bone structure.

"Don Juan" really was a Don Juan that year he was a busy boy. He strikes me as a happy go lucky, like-able, big ole doofus. For sure, he is not thinking of Leo's feelings.

Now that all the daughters are found and gathered, and so quickly, and in the first week no less, it will be interesting to see where the story goes from here.

Hola Patio Peeps! Sorry I haven't been commenting. Lots of yardwork has taken up much of my time...in addition to farm and house chores, but the day doesn't end until I drop in to relish in the fabulous recaps and comments.

JudyB, a belated thank you for your snarktastic recaps; and, Doris, your recaps are equally as entertaining. Thank you both so much for keeping the patio smiling.

Doris, I too wonder where the story goes from here now that all the daughters have been miraculously found.

In regards to J-Inez and why she was up on the balcony, she freaked out when Ruben hugged and picked her up while overjoyed that the missing boy had been found. Maybe she was feeling guilty because she liked it??? Anyhoo, I have my beanie hat on with double straps and gorilla glue (ouch!) during all these coincidental arrivals when a half sister is in trouble.

I also did a little research on the liver and onions thing. It seems that the saying derives from the fact that liver and onions is one of the simplest dishes to prepare. So when someone says, "Eres como higado encebollado" they are saying that the person is simple and without complications. When J-Vic said that Sebas was neither liver or onions, she meant that there was nothing simple or uncomplicated about him.

Okay, so Sebas HAS to be adopted or not JuanO's son. I seriously doubt that these writers would pull a "Doble Vida" on us. Puh-leeeze NO!

Anita, glad to see you back safe and sound. Looking forward to your recap on Monday.

MAÑANA

Andy, I saw your special report on this fiasco. So it went from Guatemala (bad) to Guatepeor (worse); thank goodness I didn't see that! I usually catch the last couple of minutes and I am really glad that was not in there. I did, however, see that Cris caught Paloma and Mau kissing on Friday. So that's twice that they have been caught!

RgvChick - Thank you for the explanation of "liver & onions". It is a very simple meal and one of my favorites, with mashed potatoes on the side. :-) That and chicken livers were some of our regular meals when I was growing up. Beef liver is now hard to find (nobody wants it anymore?) and hubby will not eat it. Fortunately, there is a meat & three nearby that serves it once a week. Yayyy!

Hi Doris, My mother used to make liver and onions and bacon and baked potatoes for my sister and brother in law's birthdays . Hub and I did not like liver , so we just ate the side dishes.

Thanks for the great recaps and the comments. I've watched parts of this and it seems much more engaging than the Manana mess. Hoping to get the daughters/characters sorted out, so I can truly follow it.
