El Dragón #19, 10/24/19: In Which The Payback's Not Worth The Playback & Hec Needs a New Car

Miguel looks up from the video screen.  "--Where is Ricardo (Sr. Finances)?"  They ordered me to kill him, he tells Mig and Peligros.  Guajolote is the traitorous dog of a messenger who Peligros wants to kill.  "--It was me or him."  (Hmm.  Now that's something Miguel can relate to, considering his little chat-spat with Adela earlier.)  "--They killed the men.  I am sorry, Patrón."  "--Do my business partners know?"  Nope.  Ok.  Mig nixes Peligros and pistola since Guajo is the only one who's been inside since the takeover and knows the layout.  Leave him go."  Peligros growls to Guajo that he may have escaped this but he's still going to be bait.  (Viewerville ponders the possibilities.)

Ade wants to help somehow but Mig finally puts his foot down.  Jime wonders what's happened.  After Mig walks away Ade answers her that there's been killing and it isn't about to stop soon.

Mig walks outside on his way to his private plane; they're flying to CD Jimenez.  The vagrant, aka, bum who sits by the building day after day takes mental notes and Guajo must give Mig the details.  He calls Tacho and gives him the news.

Back at the ranch, Old Tati brings Dora a trago of tequila and secretly cuts the ties around her writsts.  Los Pacheco are feasting after the bloodbath they've just finished.  They get the word that Los Garza are on the way.

Upon takeoff, Miguel calls Chisca with the news.  She's got reason to be upset at what's been done to Dora.  She's told to take care of Jorge and not to tell him a word of what's transpired.  His emotional state is too fragile.  She promises not to go anywhere.

Back at The Tower, Ade gets Kenia to "keep Jorge occupied for the day".

Mig and the two Mexican capos are discussing events.  The two want to skin the bastards alive and then roast 'em or something like.  (Now THAT is vengeance!)  However, Mig won't.  Sometime in the future, maybe.  Right now the idea is simply to get her out of there without risking her life.

Guajo gives them the layout:  25 men, a couple in the guard house and the rest inside the ranch.  They are heavily armed with long guns and large guns.

Tati tells Skinny Pacheco he's got the rancho under security system surveillance.  Nobody will get in without his knowing first.  Skinny P.  hoops 'n hollers, counting his coups.  (--Whoever this actor is, he does play 'crazy as a coked up rabid coon' to perfection.)

That afternoon Jorge wants to leave early.  Kenia talks him into keeping her company at her home since her roomie is gone visiting family and she doens't want to be alone.

Epigmenio lets Tacho know he doesn't give a flip what happens to Los Pacheco and their posse.  Slit their throats, gut them, or not, it's all the same to him.  He comes away with their territory either way.  And, he's got his spy inside El Salado: Jime.

Speaking of which, the White Witch arrives at the mini-manse to wait with Chisca and Ade for news of the outcome.  The three bond (sort of) over tragos of tequila.

The plan is set in motion.  Peligros is to clear the way into the hacienda.

Hector's baby has a high fever.  The three of them will go to the emergency room.  They load up the car and just as he is about to turn on the engine, Ana gets the much awaited call from the pediatrician.  He's coming over.  No need to go to the hospital.  The family gets out of the car and returns to their condo/apartment, safe and sound. (Note: "no babies are going to be hurt in the making of this production.")

Los dos Pacheco want to have some more fun with Dora.  Tati gripes at them to leave her alone already.  There are other things they have to be ready for.  Dora sobs, but she's been left alone in the long run, for now.

Kenia talks Jorge into going back to University.

Jime gets a call from Tacho wanting an answer if she's willing to spy for them now or not.  She flashes back to the proposition she cannot refuse and then tells Tacho she'll give them an answer as soon as she can and hangs up.  She lies to Chis and Ade that the call came from her ex-novio.

Jorge is ready to go home.  Kenia manages to give him the hairy eyeball and convince him to stick around a bit longer.

Pig gets a call from his lonesome wife.  She wants some bed time story-telling from him.....

Los Garza take off in the late afternoon and arrive at night.  Peligros puts a plastic bag over guard #1's head and suffocates him.  He waits for guard #2 and slits his throat.  Tati doesn't see anything and wonders where the enemy are and if they've arrived or not--at least, by the look on his face.  Guajo gives Peligros' progress text to Mig, who is waiting to enter with his men.

Jorge and Kenia wake up early the next morning and have a heart-to-heart.  She accidentally touches his thigh and then excuses herself.  He tells her he doesn't mind it with her.  (Nope, I wouldn't think so.)  They sleep a bit longer on the couch together, innocently enough.

Peligros watches out for the security cameras and continues snuffing out the guards around the grounds.  The last two he garrotes.  "--The way's clear, Patrón."  Mig enters the house and uses ninja tactics to get them out of the way.  Somehow it isn't clear if he's kept them alive because he needs to fill the ranks again or he magically has killed them with a few karate chops and judo throws.  The rest  of Mig's men come inside the ranch with guns a-blazing.  Guajo takes bullets to the legs and chest and gut.  He redeems himself by unpinning a couple of hand grenades near a bunch of the enemy guards.

Inside the manse, Dora is rescued.  Fatty P notes they've lost the battle and Skinny says it's time to scoot.  He'll find a way out for them, however, Peligros captures him.  Mig captures Fatty.  Dora stops him from breaking Fatty's neck.  "--So you liked it, my queen?"  She pulls a pistol and shoots Fats in the forehead.  She turns to Skinny and does the same.  Dora, the queen of the dynasty, such as it is, and grand abuela surrogate madre , has been saved.  (Blech.  She got her revenge, but this corner of Viewerville would have shot them in a lower, more meaningful part of the anatomy first and worked the way up.  FF>>FF>>)

Dora, showered now,  gives Chisca a call.

Hector heads out to the market for diapers or something.  Tacho calls and taunts Hector on his cell.  He gives Hec the news that in three minutes his car will explode.  Hector does what all nice, NAIVE types try: reasoning with the unreasonable in society (the psychopathic and the sociopaths.)  He's a father with a child to raise and a wife, and... there are innocent people in the street.  (Dude, a murderer DOES NOT GIVE A FLYING FLIP!)  He finally gives up and exits the car, yelling at all the people in the street at the last instant to run 'cause there's a bomb in the car!!!   (Damn, I hope it's a company car!)   --KA-BOOM!

Thank you Jardinera. I'm glad last night's episode was so much better than the previous one.

Alfredo Gatica is the actor who plays SkinnyP. He is the son of Luis Gatica who had a supporting role in "El Color de la Pasión." I first saw Alfredo in "Enamorandome de Ramón;" he was a slimeball there but nothing compared to what he is in this TN.

My favorite scene was Dora shooting the P bros. Was Tati their grandfather; I thought they were calling him "Tata?" Whoever he is, Tati seemed like a much better person. He seemed to hesitate when he saw the Garza troops coming in.

I was surprised that Tacho warned Hector about the bomb and gave him time to get out. I figured someone would definitely be killed. I cringed when they put the baby (with the huge pink bow) in the car.

Contrary to what others think, I don't think Dora will take long to heal from her traumatic experience. She is portrayed as a strong, bad ass TN chick and those recover...sometimes even before the episode ends.

RGV Chick: I strongly believe Dora KNOWS the real truth regarding the ambush on Miguel's parents & at some point, she's going to have to speak up to Miguel when the truth comes out somewhere down the road in this Telenovela.

Jardinera: Loved your good recap!

Thank you Jardinera. That was another difficult episode to sit through, but at least the good guys won. It looks like a lot of the bad guys’ necks were broken in the process of Mig’s martial arts tactics. Peligros too, seemed to be breaking a lot of necks. Now who is the guy who offered Dora the tequila and then secretly cut the ropes she was handtied with? And he seemed to be watching what was happening with the security cameras and didn’t do anything. I liked the way Dora got her revenge. She didn’t allow Mig to do it for her, she wanted to shoot these guys herself.

I almost felt sorry for Guajo, but glad for his redemption as he gave his own life to save others in the process, making it easier for Miguel to win this battle.

I wonder what they do with all the bodies?

Jardinera, I am very glad too, that no babies were harmed in the making of this episode!

Thanks for the recap, friend. Who knew that Cynthia Klitbo was Cynthia Killedtwo.🤪 I was wondering with the flashbacks, I thought she might have shot her self . But then the Pachecos would have won......

Whew! I can still smell the gun powder from that battlefield. All those guns blazing and how could anyone tell the two gangs apart--they weren't wearing black hats and white hats. It was quite a scene.

I wondered how Dora could have taken a shower and redressed and act as though nothing had happened. I didn't expect her to do her rapists in, but I agree that the Patio cheered and only wished she had started somewhere below the belt.

Thank you Jardinera for taking in all the action. Glad the good guys won, although how many of them are left is yet to be counted.

Nice moves Miggy had. I do wish he'd actually broken FattyP's arm off rather than just twisting it. (No I'm not a bloodthirsty granma, just wanting the revenge to match the crime in terms of pain and humiliation).

Loved the note that ... "no babies are going to be hurt in the making of this production." and chuckled over your title that Hec will need a new car. Ana sure isn't going to like this--having put pink, bow-tied baby in peligro.

When you said Ade, Chis and Jime were "sort of" bonding, I did have to let out a guffaw. Of course you were being sarcastic. That was the most unbonded trio ever. None of them trusted each other and Chis & Ade both don't trust Jime. For them, NOBODY moves in on Miggy territory.

KIRBY: Trivago Man is actually over at the Hotel Media Luna reviewing it for bedbugs, bars, waitstaff, mattresses and nearness to beaches.

Thanks a bunch Jardinera. Wow, after the carnage night before last, which I found hard to watch and left me feeling uneasy, I was ashamed of how much I ENJOYED seeing Dora pop the perps in the heads.

Too bad someone could not show miss 'Up for anything that involves me being within sniffing distance of Miggy', "Can I go?" Adela a video of what he cut her out of. She was pouting about not being in on this adventure.

Yeah, Cynthia, I was on pins and needles on the car bomb. Like to get my hands on some of the batteries they use. Man, those things are dynamite.

Cynthia--They can't bury the bad guys among the trees--too many roots to chop up. They could have a bonfire, or drag them out to the local land-fill in the dark of night. They'll make nice mulch in a few years. I think they will return the locals working for los Garzas to their families and compensate them monetarily. They can't afford not to.

Kirby--Since you probably aren't watching (though you should--lots of eye candy) Hijas, that was my reference to Hotel Media Luna. Gonzalo is now the Hatted, Ascot wearing cousin of Bermuda Boy (Danilo Carrera).

Thanks, Jardinera.

Well, this isn't what I signed up for. The violence and bloodshed is awful. I dont want those images stuck in my head. Maybe I will just read the recaps.

I prefer Hijas at the beach.

What is Hijas at the Beach? Is this on Univision or elsewhere?

Ah, Cynthia--You are missing one of those innocent romps of yore with plenty of babes in beach togs and boys will be boys and mixed up parentage. Hijas is on at 3 pm on Uni. Check the recaps within the Headline DAYTIME TNs.

Thank you Anita. I'll have to record some episodes. I needs some innocent entertainment to level off the darkness from Dragon. The reason I signed on with Dragon was because I love Sebastian Rulli. He's great no matter what show he is in. I do love his character here on Dragon, but not so much all the darkness of the narcos and so forth.

Cynthia--Even if you step in now, you will catch on pretty quick. It wouldn't hurt to read the first few "recaps" and then the last two.

I totally agree that SR is good in anything he does. I first saw him in Amores Verdaderos, realized he was in Pasion, and have watched everything since (except Tres Veces--I can't remember what was competing at the time.) Despite the theme of Dragon, it is smartly written, acted and directed. Nothing will keep me from watching the whole thing.

Thanks, Jardinera. Great title. My favorite line: Whoever this actor is, he does play 'crazy as a coked up rabid coon' to perfection.

Yay, the attack is over. I worried for a sec that Dora had gone whacked when she wouldn't let Mig finish strangling Fatty P. But nope, she took care of business herself. Jardinera, ITA she should've started lower.

“It was me or him.”

I believe there’s a code among security folks that you don’t turn on civilians like the senior finance guy no matter what, especially when you were the one in charge of the security that got breached. I’m down with Peligros’ attitude with Guajolote. But in the end Guajolote did die a hero.

Interesting that the old schoolers like Peligros and the guy that cut the ties on Dora’s wrists have a code of conduct that shouldn't be crossed, but the younger crowd has nada.

Kirby: The Body Count is going to be massive.

The first time I saw Rulli was as the young, longhaired blacksmith in Pasion in competition with Pirate captain Rick for the lovely Suzan Gonzaloes. That was a great historical novela.William Levy was also in it ( in an awful wig)

...Captain Rick was played by Fernando Colunga.

Gracias, Jardinera. The Old West had nothing on this shootout.

I want to see somebody take down Jimena. That bitch needs a bloody good hiding and that's something Adele and Chisca can bond over.

I do hope that Sofia Castro didn't actually get those tattoos and piercings. I freely admit I don't understand this.

Hector behaved exactly as I expected, which might be about the typecasting of this actor. At least he survived. She should send his wife and child out of the country (assuming that they would be safer that way, but one never knows with evil narcs).

I cheered when Dora did the Pigchecos in. While the suggested torture of working from the privates on up sounds just for the situation, at least she only needed one bullet each with a guarantee that she would be safe from them.

What a clean-up this must have needed.

Yes yes, Old guys rule. The fellow who cut the ties on Dora and Peligros rock. I was calling Peligros 'Heart Attack' ------- the Silent Killer for a while there.

Miguel Garza was dam impressive dispatching all those guys with his bare hands, no weapons, but that is not what really impressed me, he did not muss up his hair. Anita, email Angelique and ask if she has ever messed it up?

When Dora stepped in and stopped Miggy, I coined the term Chisca Syndrome, but happily discarded it momentarily.

All those casualties:
Yeah, they need one of those large chipper machines that they use around here when they are clearing brush under power lines. Except for the guns which could be recycled, turn the rest into dog food. Yum.

Yes Urban, that scene with Jimena, Chisca and Adela was as cozy as being dropped into a bundle of concertina wire.

Kirby--Who needs Angelique to divulge...I'll volunteer to test the strength of his hair spray (glue...).

OK see you in two weeks. :-)

Anita, liked *Who needs Angelique to divulge...I'll volunteer to test the strength of his hair spray (glue...).* :) :)

I'd rather he had longer hair.

UA..Did you see Pasion ? Rulli had wavy, shoulder length hair , and he looked great. He was the village bkacksmith.
