El Dragón #4, 10/3/19: Putting Plans Into Motion

Lucky for Bernal that Miguel was at that meeting and saw him in front of the protesters.  As soon as the shots were fired Mig raced out and grabbed his schoolfriend and dragged him to safety.  Bernie asks what brought Mig there and he admits he was attending the Party of the Privileged.  Bernie complains of all the treacherous crooks that were there attending with him who were all involved in his sister's death.  They race to Mig's car and are only momentarily stopped by a group of policemen in their kevlar.  The head cop takes one look inside the fancy car and Miguel's super serious and determined expression and Bernal's wounds, then backs off.  (Viewerville supposes this will be a precursor of things to come.)

Meanwhile, Chisca learns they've run out of blow.  Well, then, time to go to one of Granpop's hiphop one stop shops to grab a pack or two.  She's stopped by one of Gramps's goons.  By order of her brother she's not permitted to enter the club.  Really?  She backs him into a corner and begins to seduce him then suddenly screams and slaps him as trying to get fresh with her and makes a big scene in front of the other goons.  First goon backs off.  She tells him he won't say squat against her and slut struts in and later out of the club with her bag of boogey.

Mig and Bernal arrive at Bernal's home a few minutes later.  Sra. Bernal is upset at his face and leaves Baby Bernal in Mig's capable hands while she medicates Bernie.  Of course we get a flashback to babymaking thoughts of poor Aysa.

A bit later Bernie and Mig chat about how Mig has turned into a syndicate boss.  Miguel has big plans to turn the family finances into legitimate enterprises...eventually.  Bernal's skeptical to say the least.  Miggy insists it is an idea whose time has come.  First he'll triumph in Mexico and then take the world!  Besides, Bernie can't be serios thinking he'll change government and police tactics and gangster issues with a simple journalistic screed.

Later that evening, Lamberto begins to moan and groan.  Chisca hears and races in to see if she can help.  He's embarrassed that Dora and she are trying to baby him.  The fact that he is ill and might be heading to the great syndicate in the sky sometime soon is brought up and Chisca freaks.  (Meh! >>)  She goes back to her bedroom and searches for a guy's website on Facebook.

A while later that same evening, Mig meets up with Adela The Driver Chick at a swank bar.  He asks her to take a walk with him for some fresh air.  They chat along lovers' lane and discuss if he's ever fallen in love.  Yep, once but never again.  He mentions's Aysa's discovery of a serious illness and her committing suicide shortly after.  "--Life continues."  She calls him strong the way he has overcome that sadness and loss.  He admits he feels most comfortable opening up to her like he has.  He believes they'll get along great as friends.

The next morning Mig's brother, Jorge, wakes up from one of (we believe) numerous lifelong negative-impacting-nocturnal-imaginings--aka nightmares.

At breakfast Chisca and Jorge have made breakfast for their abuelo.  He is delighted and begins talking about how Chisca will be heading off for school in Spain.  Chisca corrects him and reminds him she's already been and come back from school in Spain.  He tries to re-orient his thoughts, gets miffed and leaves the table.

At work that morning while looking over their latest article, Hector and Jr. Reporterette have a deep discussion--at least on his part--on the likelihood of their writings making any change in the country's culture.  (FF>>  >>)

At the same time, Mig and Big Business Man/Politician? are playing golf.  Mig approaches him about investing his money for him and his partners.  He convinces BBM he's done it for others while in Japan and will do it for him.  BBM says fine, but remember "--we never like to lose."  "--Neither do I."

After golf, Mig drops by the old folks home where Addy's visiting her abuela.  He's got chocolates and said he thought it was time to introduce himself to grammy.  They leave shortly after and Mig offers the use of his private plane and pilot to her since he's going back already and she still wants to stay a few more days.

Tacho watches from behind a tree as the Garza gang checks out the doctor's truck.

Dr. Matasanas (whazizname?) informs the family that Lam is about to meet his maker sooner than later.  Chisca fights with Dora about moving Gramps to a hospital/hospice for more treatment.

At Epigenio's later that morning, Tacho informs Pig that ol' man Garza'a about to kick the bucket.  Pig calls up someone and makes plans to arrive in the D.F. right away.

Peligrosos discusses the possibility of moving Lam to a safer place where he'd be more comfortable, like in the D.F.  She still isn't in the mood to consider it.  She says she know her husband well and he was born and raised in this place and this is where he'll want to stay, through to the end.

Miguel arrives in Miami and meets with Samuel who he's asked to do some research on certain technology companies.  He gives him the name of one he's particularly interested in.

A bit later we see Miggy on a yacht getting the goods on one of the bigshots at a particular company.  He learns the guy's got a penchant for putting on ladies' pumps.  Mr. Young Bigshot refuses the offer to sell since he doesn't know who will be putting up the money.  He refuses.

Middleman informs him the guy's probably got a gatherin at a nearby hotel.  Mig bribes the hotel clerk for the room number.  He sets up cameras around the party room then watches the drag queen coterie enjoy Mr. Bigshot's sexy switcheroo to leather and lace.  Mig puts on his shades and suede and marches into the side bedroom where Bigshot and BootyBoy are making singular chitchat.  He pushes BootyBoy into the closet and puts a chokehold on Bigshot.  He threatens that if Bigshot wants to insure his friends and family never find out about his drag queen dalliances, he'll accept the offer for the company and sign the document that will arrive the next day in his office, y punto!

At the same time, Pig has a meeting with BBM/Pol who says he's up to his ears in crap thanks to Bernal's article.  He wants to know what happened and why in that nightclub.  Pig says not to worry.  "--Not to worry???  The guy's sister was murdered there for crimeny's sake!"

Later that night BBM and his sometimes squeeze gets pissed that she's not seen him for such a long time and now he's all lovey-dovey.  They fight and she accidentally hits her head and dies.  Pig and his two guerreros get rid of the body.  The BBM/Pol is indebted to Pig who says, then keep your promise.  When you're president I want to be (head of El Salados?)  Upstairs they chat again.  BBM mentions they have to take advantage first of Mig's financial prowess.  Then when they have no further use of him, he himself will throw the guy in jail.  They stand to make a boatload of bucks de EEUU for now.

On the yacht the next night in Miami, he meets Katerina, a financial femme fatale with lots of contacts.  They go to her place to seal a bidnez deal.  Someone takes a photo of the two of them on their way out of the marina.  Once they're at her place, they get down to business gettin' down.

Across the city, at the Miami PD? there's a cop names Howard Toledo and his junior partner who are on Kat's case for possible tax violations.  Jr. Partner put the pix up on the white board.  "--Who is this guy?  I want to know everything about him."

Renata Notni was miscast as Miguel's love interest. Just hearing them talk sounds like he's advising a teenager. I guess that's the point to show her naivete? But gross.

Chisca is an unappealing character all around. Even looks-wise she exudes that ugliness. Something about this actress is so unappealing to watch. I've seen her in other roles before. It's probably her facial expression.

Hi, Anon. 10:43AM. ITA, but I am willing to give it a chance to develop. I believe Adela will mature once her circumstances change. Hopefully the actress can adjust the enthusiasm and naivete levels accordingly.

Jardinera: Loved your recap. I cannot for the life of me understand why some people on here are hostile towards Renata Notni.

Anon: Chisca will probably end up dead of an overdose at some point. It's almost inevitable.

Thanks for the recap, Jardinera! I know you're pulling double duty on this so it's doubly appreciated.

Anon 10:43, "Renata Notni was miscast as Miguel's love interest." It could be, but then that means that the actress playing "Asya" was also miscast. Adela and Asya are very similar in looks and personality. Maybe that is why Miguel is attracted to Adela.

I also agree that Chisca is an unappealing character right now, but the girl has issues as does her brother, Jorge. They both seem to still be suffering the aftermath of their parent's accident; and Chisca has the added trauma of the rape. I'm hoping that she will be one of the characters that will be redeemed in the end. Did they show what Jorge saw during his flashback? It was either cut off by my local station or the writer's are keeping us in suspense. But back to Chisca, yesterday, Anon posted that the actress was Penélope on "La Bella y Las Bestias." I had not recognized her!! Chisca is totally different from Penélope who was so strong and self-sufficient.

Jardinera, thanks for the great recap!

I am not bothered by Renata Notni or her character. She seems like a breath of fresh air for Miguel considering what he has just been through with the suicide and now having to save the family business.

As for Chisca, I do agree that she is a royal pain but I also agree with RgvChick that both she and her bro are still suffering from their various traumas.

They have given Sebastián Rulli a classy wardrobe. I love seeing him in a suit.

Miguel does have the magic touch with babies and the talents of a mob enforcer. Interesting combination.

Double thanks to you Jardinera, for your double duty this week. Your recaps are so spot on and detailed.

I too, wonder about Chisca and wonder what else she and her younger brother suffered after their parents’ deaths. Something else seems to have gone on and maybe Jorge knows something more, only he’s blocked it out. He seems to have a lot of issues just like Chisca. I wonder how Miguel overcame so much and became so successful? He must be channeling his emotions into his work and that is what drives him.

Boy, they sure know how to get rid of bodies and come up with a plausible story! Pig sure has power to get one of his own to take the rap for the murder and go to prison. Of course they made the deal that the family would be taken care of.

Thanks, Jardinera. So glad you decided to recap this one. Always fun to see how you tell it.

The head cop takes one look inside the fancy car and Miguel's super serious and determined expression and Bernal's wounds, then backs off. (Viewerville supposes this will be a precursor of things to come.)

Incredible. Bernal is bloody and banged up, but Mig's got the look.

Besides, Bernie can't be serios thinking he'll change government and police tactics and gangster issues with a simple journalistic screed.

True that.

She goes back to her bedroom and searches for a guy's website on Facebook.

I couldn't see the screen well, but that looked like the guy that had raped her. If so, maybe she’s been cyber stalking him.

Nice to see the actor playing the detective surveilling the finance lady. Haven't seen him in awhile.

The cross-dressing guy didn’t seem to be hiding his cross-dressing too much. Regular parties at a hotel. It's such an open secret that I'm surprised he caved quickly to Mig’s blackmail.

Also surprised Mig is going to get it on with finance lady he just met, on top of her uncomfy pool table. Mig, you don’t know where she’s been.

Rgv Chick, yes, I recognize Chisca from Beauty and the Beasts and her cornrows there. I like her bob cut here, but it looks greasy, I guess to go with her troubled mind.

Put me in the there's hope for Chisca camp. What I hate most is when she offers blow to others. Mujer, keep you self-destructive ways to yourself.

Great recap JARDINERA...and I always look forward to your clever wordplay.

Party of the Privileged

strut sluts

Great Syndicate in the Sky

Drag queen dalliances

Yep, that's my clever Jardinera. Makes reading your recaps such a pleasure.

The other pleasure is feasting my eyes on this fine fine Señor Rulli. Well-dressed or undressed, the man is a treat.

I'm not bothered by his young street kid chauffeur friendship. She's a breath of fresh air for him and he needs that after the grief of his wife's suicide and the grim reality of the family business.

Whoops...meant to say "slut struts". Doesn't work the other way!

Thanks, Jardinera , for that excellent, detailed recap.I don't like the dark parts of this show , so I will have to surf in and out.I like Rulli .

I agree Niecie, Chisca was definitely looking up the page of the guy who had raped her is was his name though I cannot remember it now. I am sure that will have something to do with later. I am sure she also blames Miguel for getting raped. Because her whole ‘cantaleta’ has been that he isn’t there for his family, that he doesn’t care. I imagine she thought that if he hadn’t left her to go off with Asya then none of it would have happened. Not taking into account that getting drunk and high with someone puts you in a very vulnerable position. But still poor Chisca. She may have made bad decisions, but we can see that she was a pretty happy girl with her brother before that.
