El Dragón #11, 10/14/19: Lies, Trickery, Theft, and Murder
We open
with Miguel getting shot by a dart and falling to the ground in Columbia. Three
masked men pick up and carry him off.
Hector
and Claudia go through the contents of Natalia’s locker. They find variouss
things, a USB flash drive and a passport with her picture and another name. They
wonder what someone who was a secretary was doing with a false passport. They decide
that there is only run reason, she had the false identity so she could run
away. As they leave, Hector says to Claudia, “Let’s go my love.”
In
Madrid, Chisca and Valentín are drinking in a bar. Chisca says, “Well it’s too
bad that you are separated from your wife.” But Valentín says, “I don’t think
so. It’s something to celebrate and toast to.” They talk some more and Chisca
says she is not the little girl he once knew. He agrees that it’s been many
years. She tells him that it was him that opened her eyes to the world. She
mentions how glad she is that he was her first, but then is recalling how he
raped her. He says that time was one of the best experiences of his life. [What a sicko.] They order more thinks and toast to
the past and the present.
Later
they walk down the street together, he says it was their destiny to meet, then he
asks her how long she is going to stay. He hints that he wants her to be
intimate with him and she tells him that he’s not even divorced yet. Valentín
also tells her that Miguel has no need to know about their being together.
At
Valentín’s place, Chisca pours some champagne. In the background it appears
that Valentín just snorted some cocaine. He shares some with her. After she
snorts some herself, he gets violent with her, pinning to the wall with his hands
around her neck. He says he wants to know what game she is playing. [Chisca appears to be in over her head] She cries
that she has never stopped thinking of him and swears that to be true. He
finally lets go of her neck.
In
Columbia, Jaramillo, “El Doctor” has stripped Miguel down and tied him down.
They went through his things and didn’t find anything unusual. Then they start
to torture him with a high powered taser/stun gun. Then they keep drowning his
head in cold water trying to get him to talk and confess who he is working for
and who sent him. Miguel remains silent throughout, thinking of his martial
arts training. He goes unconscious, but is revived and they rinse, wash, and
repeat.
Back in
Madrid, Chisca gets in on with Valentín and allows him to remove her top and
endures him going down on her.
In
Mexico City, Jimena tries to call Miguel and he doesn’t answer. They go through
with the plan to launder the money after trying to call Miguel and not getting through.
Claudia
and Hector continue to research without much success. He calls his friend the
secretary in the government. (Can’t remember his name). Anyway, he tells him he
needs to put the brakes on this investigation and not tell anyone who told him
who was behind the death of Natalia. It was Carlos Duarte.
At
Miguel’s home in Mexico City, Peligros tells Jorge and Adela that he has wanted
to call Miguel “El Patrón” and hasn’t been able to. He says that he is a little
worried about Miguel dealing with those guys in Columbia because they scare
even him. Jorge tries to call Miguel but it doesn’t even allow him to leave a message.
Still
at El Chano’s place, Pig and Tacho talk and Tacho gives Pig his opinion about
running “the business.” Pig tells him that he just doesn’t understand the ropes
and doesn’t think of the future very well. He has to come up with a bigger and
better plan to get rid of Miguel.
At the
Miguel Garza home in Mexico City, Adela is getting ready for bed when she hears
Jorge yelling calling for “mama.” She goes to his bedroom door and opens it,
then realizes he is having a nightmare. She turns on the light and wakes him
up. After waking, he asks why she is there and she tries to calm him. She
offers to help but he rejects the help and says he wants to be alone.
Pig and
Chano pay a visit to some other drug cartel lord (Enano?). He’s getting a
massage and Chano tries to introduce Pig and says they are working together
now. He knows who Pig is and say he doesn’t need anything from him. Enano gets
up from his massage and tells Pig he should be embarrassed to ask anything of
him. Then Pig pulls a gun on Enano, but Chano makes him put the gun down. Obviously,
Enano does not have anything good to say about Pig and sends them on their way.
He gets back to his massage.
Kenia
makes a phony ID for Flaco for him to use in El Salvador.
Jimena
gets worried about Miguel and thinks he might be in trouble.
At the
Garza ranch in Cuidad Jimenez, the “employees” get instructions from Dora and (the
accountant?) concerning their assignments in El Salvador. They go get their
tickets for the trip, but Taxman seems to be in the right place at the right
time to see what they are doing.
Back in
Columbia, Miguel has survived the torture. Finally Jaramillo congratulates him
and properly introduces him to everyone.
Miguel takes a shower in an outdoors shower, gets dressed and meets with
Jaramillo. After that, he meets with Jaramillo about his business plan to
launder money.
Valentín
shows Chisca a curio cabinet with expensive jewelry. He says he likes only the
best. He pours some wine and they toast to an unforgettable night. As he kisses
her neck, she thinks about the rape and then how she took out a gun when spying
on him as she hacked through his security system.
As
Miguel leaves Jaramillo’s place and is escorted back to his vehicle, Miguel
mentions something about Tadamichi saying something about them owing a debt to
him. Jaramillo turns to his men and says, “Do we have a debt to Tadamichi?” They
all shake their heads and Miguel says, “Well maybe he was mistaken.” They shake
hands and Miguel backs away in his vehicle.
Kenia
asks Jorge how he liked his classes. As they are talking, a poor homeless guy
runs into Kenia. Jorge gives him a little money. Then Kenia describes how this
laundering money process will be operating and what Flaco is going to be doing.
In
Madrid, Chisca gets out of Valentín’s bed, puts some clothes and then steals an
expensive necklace from the curio cabinet and leaves.
Pig is
angry, takes it on Tacho with his tantrum and won’t take any advice. He blames Tacho for their
problems and Miguel still being alive.
IRS guy
“the Taxman” drinks in a bar with one of the Garza employees from the ranch. He
lets it out that the Garzas run "El Salado.”
Tacho
goes and kills someone in the street in broad daylight like it’s nothing.
Chisca,
in her own room now, puts on the necklace on her bare chest, taking a selfie with
the necklace and sending a message to Valentín that he has to come get it if he
wants it.
Miguel
dines with a young woman who gives him what appears to be expensive jade pieces,
saying Tadamichi will surely be pleased. Then someone from the outside starts
shooting and pow! She’s dead on the floor in a pool of blood. Miguel seems to
have dodged the bullets and is alright.

Thank you, Jarifa, and everyone for the recaps. I have read them all and they have been very helpful. This is my first TN since Caer en Tentacion and I'm a bit rusty following it. Especially all the business stuff. I'm watching because Univision has promoted this one as a game changer, but like some others here I'm not liking the violence. I wonder if it's an accurate depiction of what goes on in Mexico and I hope not. I also like Rulli, although i liked him better as earnest in Tres Veces and la Que La Vida Me Robo. I'm enjoying Renata Noni; I haven't seen her before. Her character is a spitfire. And I have always loved Alejandro Avila- in La Que No Podia Amar, Porque el Amor Manda, Que La Vida Me Robo, and Que Te Perdone Dios. I always wonder why he never gets a lead role. He can be so funny. And I like the Chisca character. I think her karmageddon will be redemption. Gracias a todos!

I stopped watching last night when I saw Chisca's revenge fantasy was going downhill and I couldn't stomach her feeling forced to do the deed with her date rapist again. I'm interested in Jimena, Adela, Tax Man, Peligro, and Rosario, but the others not so much.

Chisca is in way over her head. Valentin is a psycho. He's as sick as Jaramillo and Chisca has no mental defenses like Miguel does. No self-discipline, either.
If I were Miguel I'd make sure Jaramillo pays in spades for that torture.

From now on, I think I'll do what Jarifa did and wait to read the recap before watching the show so that I can FFW through all the disturbing scenes. The only way I can continue to watch this show is by recording it so that I can fast forward through the violence and torture. Reality is harsh enough. I watch the telenovelas to escape harsh reality not be reminded of it. uff

Thank you everyone for your comments. Yes it was difficult watching Miguel endure those torture scenes. I wanted to FF through it myself. But Miguel seems to have the stamina and the mental fortitude to withstand this stuff and come out on top. He knows how to handle people whose intentions are less than honorable.
Chisca is in way over her head. I don't like her much, but I don't want to see her get hurt either. I don't know how she can stand to fake it through with the man who raped her and pretend like she's enjoying herself. I'm sure she feels like she needs to throw up.
Pig's temper tantrums are dangerous. Every episode he's having a temper tantrum over something.

I'm not sure I even understand the transactions Dora was asking all her employees to engage in, but it wasn't tickets to El Salvador. It was to launder money, but that is yet to be explained.
I thought the woman with the long auburn pigtail in The Doctor's camp was the one who showed up at the restaurant (of course they had to have a table by the open floor-to-ceiling glass window) with her hair down (same color). I thought Miguel said he was expecting her. After she showed him the jade pieces didn't she say now her debt to Tadamichi was paid--he'd apparently saved her life at one time.
