El Dragón #22, 10/29/19: More Treachery, More Murder
Hector
continues his conversation with Cuña and finds out from him that impunity
reigns and justice does not exist. He says, “The real mafiosos are the
politicians.”
Chisca
comes barging into Miguel’s office and Miriam tries to stop her. But Miguel
tells Miriam not to worry and allows her to leave the office. Chisca, however,
is throwing a temper tantrum with Miguel about her not being able to get a ride
to Cuidad Jimenez via Peligros. He tells her that he knows she is into drugs
and she needs rehab. She just gets angrier and tells him she is just as much a
boss as he is and that he fancies himself as some sort of Mexican James Bond,
with his Geishas and Samurais. She storms out.
Meanwhile,
in Cuidad Jimenez, Hector goes to see his politician friend. He tells his
friend he knows that Epigmenio is behind all this bloodshed. Hector wants to
verify if Carlos Duarte is behind Epigmenio Moncada, but his politician friend
starts getting hot under the collar and tells Hector to put a lid on it because
it’s such a great risk to him. He tells Hector, “Mr. Bernal, you are toying
with something very dangerous and it will always come out badly. I regret
telling you the truth. Now please leave.” He shows Hector the door and opens it
for him to leave.
Miguel
is holding a video call with Tadamichi from Tokyo. He has a request for Miguel.
He has a shipload of ephedrine headed that way to Michoacán and the buyer
backed out of the sale. Now he wants Miguel to contact some Balkan mafia and secure
them as buyers. Miguel says it’s a risky move, but agrees to do it.
In
Mexico City, Miguel and Peligros arrive at a place where he rings the doorbell
and he is greeted by a leather slung blond totin’ a gun on her thigh. She lets
them in and leads them down this hallway. There is a vicious dog who looks like
he is trained to kill, or at least injure. The suit clad Miguel meets a bald, shirtless
and tattooed, but leather strapped man who introduces himself as Milan Petrovic
and his daughter, Drenka. They are the leaders of the Balkan Mafia. He says, “The
dog does not like visitors. So what are you here for?” Milan turns and looks at
the red haired woman behind him and says, “Don’t worry. She doesn’t speak
Spanish.” So Miguel tells them of Tadamichi’s proposal that he is helping with.
Chisca
and her friend get of her car and walk up to a guy who is her friend’s drug
dealer. Chisca makes some smart remarks and the dealer almost walks. Then he
offers Chisca a “free sample” for Chisca to try. Then Chisca starts coughing
and says it’s horrible stuff. The girls finally leave without anything.
Back at
the Balkan Mafia digs, Milan motions to the dog to come and attack Miguel. But
as the dog starts to bite, Miguel looks at the dog, touching his snout, saying “NO!”
Then the dog stops his attack. Then Drenka brings over some goblets of what
appears to be white wine and Miguel uses some phrases in Serbian. They drink to
their business proposal. Then Milan says, “We have a deal.” They shake hands.
As Drenka leads Miguel out, Drenka warns him that they are not to toy with them
because they are capable of doing anything. She pulls out her gun and gets
ready to shoot the dog because he was disobedient, but Miguel stops her from
doing so and she finally puts her gun away. As Miguel steps forward, he give
the dog an affection petting on the head.
Chisca
meet Angel in some bar and he provides her with what appears to be cocaine.
They leave.
Miguel
is on the phone with Valentín and he asks him about Chisca’s strange behavior
which Valentín says he knows nothing about. He claims things between them are
better than ever. While talking to Miguel, he’s in the beginning of a very
passionate lovemaking scene where this woman is throwing herself at him. They
hang up, and Mig asks Adela what she thinks of Valentín. She says, “Well he
seems like a nice enough guy to me.” [She sure doesn’t
know him at all.] She explains that couples are usually they to help
one another, but of course, “you have to be with the right person.”
Next scene,
Adela gets in the elevator with a bite to eat. A nice looking guy follows her
in and asks how she is. Her mouth is full and struggles to answer. Then he
gives the line, “I sure wish at this time I could be that sandwich.” She starts
laughing and he introduces himself as Victor. She asks him if he is a banker
and he asks, “how did you know?” Adela says, “Well there are only banks on the
7th floor.” He asks what she
does and she describes herself as a “godín.”
[After looking this up and searching for what
seems to be a meaning that fits, it seems a “godín” is an office worker with
the 9-5 life.] Then she leaves the elevator.
Well
our little redhead who was present with the Balkan mafia, (the one who Milan
said didn’t know Spanish) went straight to “El Chano” who gave the news about
the ephedrine shipment straight to ePIGmenio. El Chano gives him the lowdown on
it all.
In
Cuidad Jimenez, Miguel discusses with his men how they will handle the shipment
when it arrives. The men leave to go to the port in Michoacán. Canelo gets the instructions
and memorizes them. He tears up the paper as he is told to do. Some more men
come out with their white aprons ready for “work.”
At the
office, Flaco and Trejo get in communication with the Chinese sailor, Fai Yuan.
Trejo gives him the names of the ships coming and the latitude and longitude
coordinates of where to meet. He also gives him a code and what the response should
be.
At the
docks, Canelo and his men are overtaken by Tacho and Pig’s thugs. Tacho holds
Canelo at gunpoint and tries to force out information from him. Meanwhile, Pig
drives up in his pickup truck, bringing a chainsaw with him. [This is oh so Mexican drug cartelish!!] All the
other men are on their knees with their hands behind their heads. Some of the
men are led away and Tacho kills a few.
Adela
walks to the car in the underground parking lot and finds Victor. “So what are
you doing, stalking me?” He asks her about the car and she explains it belongs
to her boss. Then he asks, “Who is your boss?” She remembers when Miguel told
her recently that many will try to come close to her to find out about him. So
she plays coy and does not reveal anything about Miguel. Finally, she gets in
the car and drives away.
Back on
the dock on the ship, it appears that Pig has cut off Canelo’s hand and he’s
full of blood. Pig calls him a crybaby.
Outside,
Miguel sees what appears to be a homeless man drinking a bottle of booze. He
recognizes the guy as the one who got them out of the car just before it blew
up when his parents where killed. He’s shocked and startled when Hector comes
up behind him and says, “What are you doing here?”
Back
that the ship the torture continues, but Tacho finally kills Canelo after he
gives the code.
Adela
goes to visit her grandmother and brings her some cookies. Grandma wants to
hear the latest between Adela and Miguel, but Adela lets her know there is
nothing going on. Not when he has the hots for someone else. Grandma says, “so
he cheated on you?” Adela says “No, we were not even going together. It was all
in my head. I feel stupid.” Grandma asks if there is anyone else she could get
interested in, she mentions Victor.
On the
ship, the captain steers them out to where they are supposed to meet the other
ship coming in. Tacho throws him overboard and shoots him dead. They meetup
with the other ship and the Chinese captain says they will unload when it is
night.
Chisca
tries to call Valentín again and she’s angry. Dora comes in and wants to know
what is wrong. Chisca goes on a rant and Dora grabs her glass of liquor and throws
it down.
Miguel
and Hector are on Miguel’s plane as they discuss how Carlos Duarte is involved
in all this narcos stuff, including how Duarte is involved with Epigmenio Moncada.
In the next
scene, Miguel is at him home in Mexico City, making himself something to eat in
the kitchen when Adela walks in. She asks what he is doing there as she thought
he was still in Cuidad Jimenez. They come to an impasse in their conversation
as Adela wonders why he didn’t call her to pick him up at the airport. Miguel
then explains he ran into his friend Hector Bernal and Hector gave him a ride
to the house and dropped him off and “I didn’t want to bother you.” Adela says,
“I thought maybe you didn’t like/want me anymore. I mean, as a chauffeur,
right?” Miguel just stares back at her ands says, “Right, I do want/like you.” And
adds, “as a chauffeur.” He asks her, “Is there something you want to ask me?”
She responds, “Is there something you want to tell me?” Then Miguel says, “I
don’t like these little games. I prefer that you just be direct with me.” So Adela
says, “Are you sure you want to talk about….that? That’s what I thought.” She
tells him to wait a minute then brings him a dark binder of what she has been working
on. “Better we talk about this.” Miguel likes her sketches and she tells him
she has an appointment with an architect tomorrow. Then Mig’s phone rings and
it’s Zaragosa at the docks.
He explains
that there is something wrong. None of their men are back yet. He believes they
have been robbed.

So these Serbians are supposed to be bad dudes not to be trifled with eh? Yikes they sure look the part. No wonder they are criminals, would you hire these clowns? They would even be out of place on a garbage truck. Watch your Ps and Qs Miggy.
Could Chisca get any uglier without surgery or a morgue? WOW she probably even fights with her reflection in the mirror. Withdrawl is ugly Hon. Angel initially looked to be a cut above Valentin, but not much. Her friend is cute.
So Migalicious even has this unspoken DOG thing going on? OK. Mr. Kindness saves the snarling dog's life? OK
Secretary gives Aw Heck - tor some lifesaving advise. And not the "Carry a first aid kit, a tourniquet, some super glue." kind. But he will not listen. You know, even if you accomplish all this, she is still dead. Are you trying to join her? Good Luck.
BTW that was NOT the Not Val wife we saw Chisca call. So Migalicious verifies all is well on the Chisca Not Val front and chats with Adela. Adela tells him you have to be with the right person with the "ME" "ME" look on her face. She gets seductively close and looks as kissable as possible, but it aint happening. I think I left nose prints on my TV. woof
As luck would have it, Adela finds herself in the elevator with a pleasant guy who seems interested. She even tells Gramma about him. Will this go anywhere? He appears to be Single, Straight, no warrants, so forget it. In TNs nice guys finish even more LAST than in real life.
So our redhead does not speak Spanish? She surely HEARS Spanglish well enough to rat out Migalicious's plans. So unlike any good manager, Migalicious stops in the office, checks with his right hand (well, actually BOTH hands) chick Jimena Wallbanger on the construction progress at Jin. Assuming his carefully crafted plan with the ephedrine, 20 sailors, three boats, and the Serbian Mafia is working like clockwork, he must have gone to the spa for a facial and getting his hair done. Maybe stops at Barnes and Noble to pick up a book on speaking Swedish, as he already speaks English, Spanish, German, Japanese, Russian and Serbian.
But Wait, Oh Noes. Red ratted him out and Pigpen has taken one of the boats. The chainsaw scene was not as bad as I had feared, as he still had all appendages when Taco Bell shot him. So these Einsteins get to the rendevouz point and shoot and toss overboqard the fellow who knows how to drive the boat and navigate back home. Hmmmm oh well.

Cynthia, Thank you for your excellent recap of another episode of carnage and cruelty. Yikes. I surfed into the show just as Pig carrying the chainsaw got to the boat. Then, I surfed right out.
I think that is how I am going to watch this show from now on. Approaching winter and longer nights are depressing enough. ...I can't stand gruesome scenes and violence. Is this show popular in Mexico?.

Thank you Cynthia for having the stomach to recap this gruesome “chain saw” excess. Gratuitous violence. Just over the top. When I saw our crazy show up with a chain saw, I switched out. The writers consistently show the pig as one of the sickest villains in TN history. Really a shame because the show could have made its points without such a sickoo pigman. But thanks for finishing the recap because now I know what happened without having to actually watch this part.

Cynthia, oh brave one, how well you retold all the goriness. Thank you for the much appreciated recap. As Susanlynn and Anon did, I switched out when I saw the chainsaw...and will continue to do so when I anticipate any such violence. I was looking forward to this Tn and I must say I am disappointed. Susanlynn, I have read that the ratings for Dragon are dropping and I can't much blame them.
Are there any truly moral people in this show? Possibly Rosario and Adela's granny, but I can't think of any others right now.

This show has certainly taken a turn for the gory. It is by W Studios in Miami, almost next door to us here in Southwest Florida. That prob explains why some of the stuff is shot in Miami.
I watched La Piloto and Descontrol and parts of La Piloto2 all by W and none of them were anywhere near as graphic as this one. La Piloto was primarily about airplanes and flight attendants, what's not to love?, and had some shootem ups, but not this Halloween House of Horrors stuff we are seeing here. I do not know where they lost their way.

Yeah, the chainsaw was too much. That sort of cruelty makes me sick (although it was used mercilessly a few hundred years ago--oh, maybe that's where we are).
Regardless, I strained to see if Canelo still had both hands and could not determine the way he was holding his hands to his chest. I was surprised they offed him, too. I would have thought they'd let one of them go to be the messenger, like they did Guajalote (and where is he, by the way).
Chisca hasn't hit bottom yet, so she has a looong way to go to be redeemed. Her behavior is getting more deranged--especially with Mikey, with whom she never had a good relationship after he moved to Japan and she had to come back home to the ranch. She is definitely his Achilles Heel. Meanwhile, she's determined to show who's boss of herself.
Victor, the new man in Adela's life...is he bad or is he good? Could go either way, but it will be interesting to watch how it goes. I saw the actor playing Victor, Daniel Elbittar, in a Telemundo tn years ago, Siempre Tuya Acapulco. He was the galan, nice to look at, but a bit wishy-washy. He's also a singer and did the romantic song for the couple, "Quiero Decirte." Nice song.

I did see where Canelo was clutching his arm and it appeared that his hand had been sawed off. But what we saw was Tacho had allowed a wrap around and we saw blood at the end of his arm as though it was now a stump. What got me was Pig was calling him a crybaby. I'd like to see how Pig would react if someone cut his hand off.
Ooops it wasn't Telemundo, it was Azteca, which all of a sudden stopped being in my line-up in the middle of another tn.

I do like that you never know what to expect on this TN. But the violence and gore are wearing me down too. Yes, we get it. Pig and Tacho are bad to the bone without an ounce of humanity. We get it.
I hope the new cute guy is genuine and not part of a plan to get to Mig through Adela.

Thanks so much Cynthia. I had been behind and finally caught up with this tn. Thanks for enduring the crazy violence in this episode. I just FF through the crazy but it is disappointing.
