AnonFri, so glad you were able to cover Wed. And some great analysis in your comments. Your Hakki theory was borne out in Thursday epi. You also raised some great questions, some of which were addressed on Thurs. Yet still more more Qs were raised.

Nina, you saw Asu coming! You kept pointing out how weird and obsessive she is, and you also asked who were her parents. I'm impressed.

THURSDAY Part I

Begins with Kemal and Nihan looking at the letter Tufan led them to. Kemal is troubled, decides they should stop searching for Emir's sib: "I want Emir to pay, but I never thought about harm and affect on brother, it's not fair to him."

Back to Asu at comatose Mujan's bedside, saying her real enemy is her father, Galip.

FLASHBACK 14 years ago:

Hakki and a young Asu. He's showing her photos of Galip and Emir, and basically training her to see them as enemies and seek vengeance. "Galip is trying to hurt us, your mother asked me to protect you, Mujan, the only woman I've ever loved. Uncle, father, the title is not important. Emir and Galip are your enemies."

Asu: "I will seek vengeance in your name. Galip is the real enemy."

FLASHBACK 5 years ago:

Hakki and Asu looking at pics again. "The time has come, daughter." Our Istanbul contact TUFAN gave me important info: it's time to destroy Galip.

Asu back at mother's bedside: "Galip left you like this, never accepted I was legitimate, robbed me of my childhood, he'll know my hate."

~~~~ Emir, still at his desk with the new video, gets a call about Nihan's filing for divorce. Emir tells whoever called, no worries: "She'll withdraw it tommorow."

Kemal calls Tufan, thanks him for the info leading him to the letter, tells Tufan to tell them I'll stop pursuing for now.

Tufan reports this to Hakki: Kemal will stop looking for Asu.

THURSDAY con't Part II

Kemal drops Nihan off at her hotel. They agree they'll need to stay apart only a short while longer [should have gotten together when they had this opportunity! But Kemal is too noble].

Emir texts both Kemal and Nihan to arrange important meetings.

Back to Asu, she's leaving her mother's side, not before leaving a note on the bedside table. Tufan is outside. Tufan has drugged Mujan's nurse and a male employee [guard?] in the house.

Here comes a crucial scene that sadly my pea brain could not fully process in real time. A lot was explained, but I missed some of it:

Outside Mujan's house, Tufan confronts Asu, blaming her for jeopardizing their revenge plan by helping out Emir in the hopes of ultimately getting Kemal. He reviewed some of the plans she's screwed up due to her Kemal obsession. Flashbacks here, one was the recent parking garage scene.

Asu came to Istanbul when she realized Nihan was still in love with Kemal [flashbacks, Kemal being surprised when Asu showed up.] [remember that Hakki and Asu lived in the mining town where Kemal went to escape after Nihan married.]

Asu says to Tufan, well, let's abandon the plan. NO, says Tufan, he's loyal to Hakki, who raised him [!!]. Tufan doesn't even know where his mother is buried [but isn't she still alive, Tufan is the son of the lady who witnessed what happened to Mujan?]

~~ Both Nihan and Kemal show up at the location Emir texted them. It is a theatre: surprise, a big screen viewing of the new video that incriminates Ozan.

Emir narrates video: "I live to surprise you."

Emir appears: "who knew Ozan was such a good shot, he hit Linda in the heart, the blood bags never exploded."

Kemal went after Emir, threatening to kill him.

Emir to Nihan: come home with me or I'm going to police.

Kemal to Nihan: you don't have to go with him. Don't go.

Nihan, crying: I have no choice.

Emir: Ozan is a murderer. You created a false narrative.

~~~ Back to Mujan's bedside. The drugged nurse wakes up, calls Galip, who calls Emir: "he/she was very close to to your mother." "estuvo muy cerca a tu madre."

~~~ At the house, Zeynep calls Asu to report Nihan's return. Nihan and Ozan: she's viewing him differently now. She's going through a photo album, she wants her pure, innocent brother back. A photo that looks like the one in the credits that Leyla's looking at falls to the floor. Nihan is upset and Ozan, confused.

~~~ Now we're at the Soydere family home, Tariq, Huseyein, Fehime. Followup to the bullet with the note to take care of your son. Huseyein wants to know, which son? Leads to them, especially Fehime, accusing Kemal of ruining the family because of Nihan. Kemal leaves, disgusted.

~~~ Emir and Galip at Mujan's bedside, find Asu's note. It reads: "Good morning, father. Good morning, brother. I'll be back soon for Mom."

Emir says to Galip: "he's been obsessed with me all his life. Now we know the blackmailer is my brother. He wants my fortune. Do you want me to kill him, or him to kill me?"

Galip leans over Mujan and says: "Did you give birth to a child of mine?"

~~~ Another pleasant family dinner back at Emir's. Emir announces he's taking Nihan on a honeymoon, maybe there's a baby on the horizon? Nihan stomps away from the table.

Final scene: Asu calls Emir: Is Nihan back? You need a child to hold onto her.

Patio, if anyone can add or correct, please chime in! Especially with the Tufan/Asu scene. A lot of skipping around and a lot went flying by.

Hey Clara!

Thanks so much for the recap! I knew I was going to miss a good episode.

Regarding Tufan being the witness lady’s son, but not knowing that he is, yet he was raised by Hakki/Hakim? Does that mean that the witness lady was actually threatened by Asu’s Uncle, but assumed it was Galip instead? How on earth would Hakim have taken the witness lady’s son? I thought it was Galip who did so, but now it seems like Hakki is not as good a person as he seems to be. If he did that just to pan out revenge at this point in the game, he’s ruined two innocent lies. Galip could have gone to jail sooner. This is confusing! Who did what!? I don’t think Galip took Nursen’s son because he would have known who Tufan is, and so would Emir. But they don’t, or so it seems. Do they even know that the witness exists? Galip’s flashback last week did not indicate that he saw her.

Also, why was Hakki planning revenge on Galip and Emir since Asu was a young child? What fault did Emir have? If anything, he could have taken Emir from Galip, as he knew Mujan wanted to do. Do they blame Emir because he was the reason Mujan went back and ended up in coma?

In short, it seems Hakki and Asu are not any better than Galip and Emir. They manipulate people and ruin their lives as a means to an end. Why wait so long to exact a revenge? Mujan has been waiting for justice forever. Emir could have been a different person if he had been raised by someone else and Galip could have served his prison sentence. Is it possible Mujan is actually being consistently kept unconscious by Galip? Maybe he’s not giving her the treatment she actually needs, as a lifetime punishment.

Nihan just needs to man up and tell Ozan that she’s not sacrificing her life for him anymore. Poor Kemal. Always close and yet so far.

Maybe if I’m lucky I can find today’s episode somewhere. I really want to understand the dynamic between Asu/Hakim/Tufan.

Friday #81:

I missed the first ten minutes!

Nihan and Kemal are in a car. He told her he wanted her away from him. Nihan is upset at how everything turned out, but Kemal hasn’t given up exactly. “Do you really think I’ve accepted his terms?” He asks her. He tells her that she belongs to him, so long as he’s still alive. Nihan tells him she will wait for him. Kemal notices someone taking pictures of them. He tells Nihan not to do anything and so he gets out of the car and suddenly starts pursuing the stranger. “Who are you? What do you want?” Kemal takes his camera, takes the chip out and hands the camera back. The man demands his chip back, but Kemal gives him money to buy a new one. The man gets on his motorbike and tells Kemal that he still has yet to publish the photos that he took of them at the hotel.

Kemal walks back to Nihan’s car, with the chip. He tells her that there are more pictures, but everything will be ok because they haven’t been in any compromising situations. Nihan blames herself for bringing Kemal problems. He tells her that he’s been asking her to stay away but she never does. He promises that he will find a way to set her free. “We’re back to the same game, then” Nihan claims. Kemal says no, he wants her to wait for him until he solves everything for them both. He stares at the chip once more and gets an idea. He calls His secretary, asking her to locate a reporter and investigate who he works for.

Emir meets Tufan in a cafe. Tufan cannot look him in the face. Emir tells him that sadness is unbecoming of him. He threatens that they may beat him up again. Tufan wants to know why he was told to come. Emir wants to know why he didn’t go back to work. “I don’t have to,” Tufan says. Emir suspects him again, and Tufan claims he never did anything to make him suspect of him. Emir offers him his job back, but Tufan doesn’t accept it. He thanks him, but because Emir was never grateful for his service, he’s not interested in going back. And so Emir asks him again “Are you really rejecting my job offer?” Tufan says “Yes, you accused me of being a traitor.” He brings up everything he had to endure for him, all the punishments, he’s had enough. He then leaves Emir with full on ETERNO pucker.

Kemal’s secretary finds the information of the photographer that’s been stalking them. He wants her to contact the editor of the newspaper. Outside, Asu stops her to ask what Kemal wants. She goes into an empty office and calls Tufan. She asks Tufan to investigate the photographer. He tells her he’ll get on it. She asks how his meeting with Emir went. He says it went well.

Emir gets a call from the chief of his intelligence staff. He wants good news. The chief says he found the phone archive Emir wanted and plays it for him. It was a conversation between Tufan and the extortioner, asking him to betray Emir. When it’s over, Emir gets up and decides to go to the address he heard on the audio, somewhere on 123rd street, #54.

Tufan gets a call from the same person about Emir having gotten the audio file.

Ozan treats Zeynep to breakfast in bed. She tells him she’s not hungry and she’s not feeling well: she feels like a stranger in this house. She demands to know what the big secret is. He calmly tells her that that is in the past and it doesn’t matter anymore. Zeynep continues to play stressed that he’s keeping secrets from her. She tells him to leave. He thinks she’s bluffing. “I can help you with your pain, we can try something and see how it goes,” he says. She blows him off. He realizes that they are like an old married couple. As soon as he’s gone Zeynep sits up and calls Sema. She asks about her friend, the one who was pregnant. “Did she give birth?” Sema doesn’t take Zeynep seriously and Zeynep tells her “Stop joking around, Sema. Listen to me!”
 

Nihan and Leyla are walking by the green streets near the seaside. They are talking about everything that’s happened. Leyla is telling her that Kemal is the voice of reason right now: for now they both should maintain themselves away from the other. Nihan understands, but she has a plan. She asks Leyla to please hand over a letter to Kemal after his meeting. Leyla asks her what she’s up to? The phone exists, why don’t you just call him? Leyla thinks that this is Nihan’s way of getting a written response from Kemal a week later, and so he will not ignore her forever. She accepts to help. Nihan tells her the letter should be sent to Kemal today, at 6:00pm. They both laugh.

Tufan tells Asu that the person Kemal was investigating is a reporter who took photos of Kemal and Nihan together. “What do you want us to do?” He asks. “Let me think about it,” Asu says.

Kemal speaks with the editor from the newspaper agency, in his office. He wants them to take into consideration Nihan’s reputation. The editor says Nihan will always be in the media, whether they like it or not. Kemal wants to know how much he is being paid to publish this news. He knows that two companies fund his newspaper, one of which Kemal actually works for. The newspaper editor asks if he’s threatening him. Kemal says that it’s only a warning, that’s there’s nothing between him and Nihan Kozcouglu, and that if his paper publishes that there is one, then they will have problems with him. He hopes he was clear enough. The man tells him not to worry, they don’t intend to publish anything. Kemal asks for the chip of the hotel photos. The man hands it over to him like nothing. Kemal is happy to do business with him.

Asu calls the reporter that was stalking Kemal and Nihan. She tells him that she wants to talk to him about a very interesting matter.

Tufan gets out of his car just as Emir shows up at the address. It’s the same place where Asu left the letter for Kemal and Nihan two days ago. Emir watches him enter the gate. He follows him. Tufan enters the house and Emir calls out his name. “Don’t tell me you followed me?” Tufan asks. The extortioner calls Emir at that moment: “you intend to play with me with your dumb assistant? Tell him that he will pay for this.” Emir asks him “don’t tell me, is it that we share the same blood?” The extortioner replies: “Fine, I won’t say so.” Emir hangs up and asks Tufan what he is doing here. Tufan claims someone called him, asking him to betray Emir. He came to this house because the person threatened to kill him if he didn’t. Suddenly Emir trusts him again and tells Tufan that he expects him in the office.

Asu tells Kemal she will be at the Kozcouglu meeting too. He tells her it’s not necessary. She asks him what he has there. He says it’s for the meeting. They agree to go together, since she’s the boss. Asu tells him she wishes to get his friendship back, that she’s thought about what he means for her. He’s a part of her family. He thanks her and walks away. Asu looks satisfied.

Tariq asks Pelin, the red head secretary, how she’s feeling. He jokes around with her that they should celebrate with champagne. They laugh and Banu watches. At the first opportunity, she demands to know if Tariq is now flirting with the other girl. He tells her no, she should be ashamed of herself, the girl is Zeynep’s age. He starts to bring up that she actually doesn’t know what shame is because she was Emir’s lover. She shushes him and leaves.
 

Kemal and Asu arrive at the entrance to Kozcouglu holding. Leyla asks if he has the surprise ready. “Of course, as always” he replies.

Emir welcomes everyone at the board meeting. He presents Kemal as the director of the central electrical plant, Asu as the president of the joint board, and Leyla as a member of the Kozcouglu board. Kemal hands the Pelin a document that he would like to have copies for everyone. Emir is intrigued. Everyone takes a seat.

Galip begins with the information about their electrical project, the most important one they’ve had this year. He wanted to speak about this first so as not to waste Lemal and Asu’s time. Kemal tells him he has nothing to do for now, that he’s not in a rush. Galip calls him funny, and Kemal says that businesses don’t accept jokes, only information. Emir tells Kemal that he doesn’t want to flatter him, but that he harmony between them all ruins his judgment. Kemal asks him what he’s trying to say, and Asu asks if he’s insinuating something. Emir says “Nothing, I’m just referring to our success so far.” Soon Galip turns the focus on Kemal, and asks him to explain progress on the central project. Kemal tells them he wants to share big news with them first. It turns out that in the power plant they’ve discovered an old gold mine that they plan to put into use. Galip thanks Asu, and she says “you’re welcome.” Galip barely looks at them and requests to see the documents. Leyla observes him and she tells him that it seems like he doesn’t like the news. Galip says that they’ve always trusted Kemal, and Leyla agrees that that’s one mutual thing they have in common. Emir then asks Kemal “When were you going to decide on that? Oh, but we’re used to you not telling us anything. How deep is the mine?” “We’ll soon find out,” Kemal responds, “Would it make you happy to join me in the inspection?” Emir likes that idea, he thinks it would be an experience to go with Kemal. Kemal then tells Galip that he will send him the results of the inspection, along with Emir’s. Emir tells Kemal that can’t wait anymore and would like to go today, but Kemal says that he will let him know when the opportunity will arise.

Thanks yet again for your smooth, detailed recap of Friday's episode. Must take a lot of effort to seem so effortless!

Friday seemed something of a snooze after the fast developments recently. First ten minutes you missed, I was hoping for some rehash, but there was none. IIRC opened with Emir imposing conditions on a squirming Nihan: they will share a room, day and night, and she will love him this time. I did like the end of the Friday epi: cold-eyed Asu glaring at Galip and Emir in the board room.

A scene with Asu and Hakim [captions call him Hakki]. Another flashback to 5 years ago planning to send Kemal to Istanbul to work with Kozcouglu's. [I don't see this in your recap, so maybe was in beginning you missed.]

AnonFri, several interesting points and questions in your comment above at 4:22. I too wish you had seen Thursday's epi. Things might be more clear!

Tufan, maybe I am way off base thinking he is witness lady Nursen's son. Or, could be yet another red herring. Seems a long while since we've seen Nursen. I remember she had had threats made against her son to force her to stay silent about what she saw of Mujan's accident. She was holding a picture of her son [I think]. She was put under protection.

IF Tufan was Nursen's son, wouldn't both Galip and Hakim know of him? Hakim was Mujan's lover back then, and Nursen, whether friend or employee, seemed to have a longstanding relationship with Mujan. They would know if Nursen had a young son.

Didn't Galip tell Emir that Tufan was their "guarantee" back when Emir was wondering whether Tufan was his brother?

As to whether Tufan was "raised" by Hakim as I put in Thurs. recap, I may have made a mistake. What I heard was "me crecio," not "me crio." Maybe it was more like Hakim made me who I am? In any event, Hakim and Tufan go back a long way, and Tufan expressed strong loyalty to him.

In your comment you also question why they blame Emir. In Thursday epi it was clear that Galip is the real enemy and beef is with him, for the injury to Mujan, for not recognizing Asu.

You ask why did they wait so long for revenge? All I can say is according to Thursday epi 5 years ago Tufan "nuestro contacto en Istanbul" told Hakim "llego la hora" for plan to destroy Galip. Why then, no idea.

Okay, I may be confusing things further, but I wanted to throw in my two cents to your comment.

Hey Clara,

I saw a bit of the Tufan/Asu scene. All I understood was that he didn’t like that Asu and Hakki trust Kemal so much, and that it wasn’t in the cards for her to come to Istanbul at all. The only reason she did so was because she found out Kemal was interested in someone (Hakki investigated?). He was also mad that their revenge plan derailed a bit because she ended up helping Emir by giving him the surveillance footage. As in, he knows she helped Emir out just to keep Kemal and Nihan apart. Basically Tufan believes she’s willing to sacrifice her revenge against the Kozcouglu for the sake of getting married to Kemal. Hakki is the real extortioner. He didn’t want to give Emir the footage but Asu begged him or else she’d take his failure to help as a sign that he doesn’t love her, but is using her as a means to the revenge.

I have no idea how exactly Tufan works in this. If he’s Nursen’s son, Galip must have kidnapped him. But then how did Hakki get ahold of him? Galip wasn’t doing his homework.

I likely will miss Monday too, but should be able to watch Tuesday. YouTube for some reason doesn’t have the full episodes and it’s hard to find the episode needed because everyone numbers them differently. Oh well. But at least it’s a little easy to catch up if an episode is missed.

This show challenges the brain. It goes in one direction that you keep up with, And something way outta left field will pop up. Like the sibbling becomes A sister instead of a brother. didn't See that coming. Or hakki or her uncle Hakim. How the heck did they get that Tape? And is it real,Or was it tampered With? In any case nihan is stuck with The black prince. And may very well wind up Givin him a baby. Yuck!

Monday #82:

Fifteen mins or so I wasn’t able to watch:

Asu calls Tufan to tell him that Nihan and Kemal won’t be a problem anymore because Emir will receive photos. Tufan reiterates that she’s putting their revenge plans at risk again, everything that they’ve gotten this year so far. She puts him off by telling him he’s never been in love.

Kemal and Nihan are together at Yasemin’s House (I think). He asks her if Yasemin knows why she borrowed it. Nihan asks Kemal if he’s hungry. Sushi and some other thing is on the menu. “Maybe you can just put them in the oven?” He asks. Nihan says he should trust her. The lights go out and she asks him to investigate. He does as told, but she’s following him around because she’s afraid of haunted spirits. Kemal reports that the fuse burnt. Nihan continues to complain and he tells her that she shouldn’t. He thinks that all she thinks about is food, she eats too much. She gets annoyed and tells him “Fine don’t eat then, since you can’t eat anything that isn’t well done.” He asks her “How is it that we’ve fallen this low and seriously are we not going to have dinner?”

Banu is driven home by Tariq. He apologizes for what he told her that morning, but she brushes it off as it can’t be as bad as what she did to him. They both agree that perhaps their breakup was for the best. Tariq tears up.

Zeynep is opening a pregnancy test. She’s remembering taking a pregnancy test from Sema’s pregnant friend in some public place. Zeynep hides the unused one under towels in the sink drawer, and holds the real one. She’s getting ready to tell Ozan, who’s knocking on the bathroom door. She hands it to him but he doesn’t know how to read it and asks her to explain it for him. She tells him she’s pregnant. Ozan wants to tell his parents but Zeynep begins the emotional blackmail: she’s not sure she wants to keep the baby because he refuses to confide her his secrets. She doesn’t want to have a baby while the relationship is the way it is now. She gives him an ultimatum: “tell me everything or I’ll abort.” He leaves. Zeynep is wondering if her plan will work.

Nihan is sitting in the living room, calling out for Kemal. She’s afraid. He asks her what’s wrong, she replies that her battery died. He comes out with candles. She gets happy. She asks him what if this was her last night? He barely looks at her. Just as they’re getting closer, she suddenly freaks out and claims to have seen a mouse. He doesn’t necessarily believe her. She doesn’t want to stay there anymore, but when he doesn’t seem to budge she agrees to stay. He tries to scare her with the whole ‘mice eating human noses as they sleep’ story. She thinks he’s just making fun of her now. Then he asks her if they can step out and watch the sky.

Soon the lovers are laying on the grass. Nihan feels that whenever she looks at the stars she feels more connected to him and invincible. He praises her beautiful eyes. Nihan wants this moment to be memorable forever.
 

Emir is in his room. Onder enters Nihan’s room and finds no one. He runs into Emir in the hallway, tells him that his daughter is fast asleep, don’t bother her. Emir didn’t seem too convinced but leaves and Onder calls Nihan only to get to voicemail and so he asks her where she is, that Emir almost found out she was gone.

Asu is texting Emir. She tells him “Is this how you take care of your wife?” and sends him photos and the article of nihan and Kemal at the hotel. He calls Asu immediately to ask what is she doing, but she asks him “Why are you letting your wife sleep in Kemal’s bed? Do you know where your wife is right now?”

Emir enters the room and realizes that Onder lied. He calls Asu again and demands that she finds to find them immediately. She’s about to lay her conditions but Emir threatens that he will tell Kemal everything about what she’s doing. Asu stays quiet and does her part.

Nihan and Kemal wake up together. They say good morning to each other. She was on the big bed, he was on the love seat couch. She asks “How am I going to live like this?” He tells her not to say that because it scares him. She says she can’t do this anymore, she feels like she’s drowning all the time. He has hope that they can continue to spend more time together, but Nihan tells him that Ozan is at risk and Emir is making the war more difficult than ever before.

Asu calls Emir to let him know that Nihan and Kemal are not far. She will release the information if he upholds the conditions of their contract.

Emir is driving to bring back Nihan.

Ozan enters the room and finds Zeynep sleeping. He’s thinking about telling her the truth. She wakes up and asks him what his decision is. He tells her to get out of bed first and that they will talk.

Kemal follows Nihan up the stairs: they go out to the patio and towards the gate. She walks out to the street and doesn’t want Kemal to walk her to the car. She tells her it ends here and now. He’s not willing to let her go. She says she’s sorry and starts to pull her hand away. She walks away and looks back one more time, only to return to him for a long sad hug.
