NO TE PUEDES ESCONDER – LUNES – Parte 1 de 3
From Friday We see Torres threaten Eli at the office and again try to run her over. This time I manage to see Gabriel Porras speaking to Natalia. And we again see Ana review the records of how Daniel was kicked off the force. We see the shooting of one Russian and the other dying in the van. And Daniel saw the guy with the black hoodie get into an elevator.
Daniel races up some stairs and catches the guy. “Who are you? Who sent you?” It appears he’s grabbed the wrong guy because an orderly recognizes the guy he tackled and calls him Rafito.
In a hotel room in Mexico the mystery guy played by Gabriel Porras (MG for mystery guy for the rest of the recap) addresses Natalia. “Are you happy? You’ve returned to your land.” [Porras looks great with his grey streaked Van Dyke beard!] He plays nice and says that she’s almost ready for her final destination. And, if she behaves, they’ll all be fine. He touches her cheek in a sort of fatherly manner and says she’s very pretty.
When he leaves, she tries to break the windows and is screaming. A young guy we later find out is named Hugo pulls her away and tells her that the glass won’t break and moreover they’re 8 stories up. She glares at him. “Do you enjoy kidnapping people? Don’t you have a sister, a girlfriend, a mother?”
Eli (later we learn this is short for Elisabeth) is talking with her friend Humberto. She tells him Torres threatened her; and, although she didn’t get a good look, she thinks he was the one who tried to run her over. And she got home to find an orchid and a note. [Could not read it; anyone?] Humberto calls him the disdainful name capullo that we remember from Reina 1. [Literally, the head of a penis or dick, asshole, etc.]
Urrutia and Velasco are playing the recording of Torres threatening Eli to Commissioner Ramirez. Velasco says that Torres et all knew their phones were pinchado (tapped), so a secret recording was the only way. Besides, a judge authorized it. Ramirez grouses that judges didn’t used to authorize bugs. Velasco points out that Torres says that it wouldn’t be the first time someone threatened him and regretted it. Ramirez keeps downplaying their investigation. Velasco: "Se jacta de haberse quitado del medio a todos sus enemigos." (He’s bragging about having gotten rid of his enemies.)
This commissioner drives me nuts. Finally Urrutia insists that Ramirez let them show up to interview Torres again and unannounced. She thinks he might slip up.
Alex tells Moni that Velasco told him that the police know all about this gang of Russians and will locate them soon. [How annoying! They keep showing a helicopter flying around at the bottom of my screen – announcing El Señor de los Depends coming soon.]
Hugo isn’t happy that Natalia didn’t eat the food he brought. He tells her that “those guys” will force feed her. She takes several bites but does not swallow. She spits the food in his face.
Velasco and Urrutia show up to grill Torres some more. She asks if his wife was afraid of him. He denies this, and she asks why Beatriz recorded their conversations. She plays the recording we’ve heard before. Urrutia leans forward: “Did you kill her?” He answers he did not. She gives him a cold look and tells him he’d be spending this very night in jail if it were not for who he is. He’s not only a suspect; he’s the only suspect.
Moni spent the night with Alex. They’re talking on a balcony when he gets a call. He tells Moni that someone attacked his photo exhibition.
Moni and Daniel come to the police department, but Ana will only speak with Moni. Ana has Natalia’s phone. Says it was in an abandoned ship. And that they have some images of Natalia. Moni watches the video the trafficker made of her daughter.
Alex has gone to see Laura, who shows him a photo I can’t make out very well. I think it was of some damage at the exhibition. Laura asks if his girlfriend could have done it, and he says she wouldn’t do something like that. They proceed to steam up the kitchen.
It seems that Ana has told Moni where the video of Natalia was taken because she asks Daniel to take her there.
Gabriel and Alberto discuss his affair with Eli. We see that the cops left a bug on the back of an office chair.
One Diego, a mean-looking thug, comes in to force feed Natalia. He slaps her and tries to pour the plateful of food into her mouth. He gets angry and drags her toward the end of the bed. Hugo grabs him from behind, saying their orders were not to hurt her. Later MG beats up Hugo for having taken it upon himself to defend Natalia. Hugo works for Diego and Diego works for MG.
Urrutia and Velasco play a recording. I think it’s the one from the back of the chair. She finds out that Eli is the daughter of Alex and is very surprised. Commissioner Ramirez tells them they’ve done good work. [I think his change of mood is because he hopes that the murder will be pinned on Eli.]
Moni and Daniel come to the house where Natalia was held. Moni remembers what Natalia said on the recording and sits in the chair where Natalia sat.
Diego grabs Natalia and moves her toward Hugo, who is holding a tray of food. She sees how he’d been beaten.
Laura and Velasco come to see Eli and read her her rights. They have an order to examine her computer. At first she denies sleeping with Torres, then says it was once only. She states that she only knew Beatriz by sight and doesn’t think Beatriz even knew her name. Velasco finds some unsent emails that are somehow incriminating. Laura says that Eli has to come to the police station with them.
In a park in Madrid Commissioner Ramirez meets with Gabriel, Torres’ campaign manager. G tells him that Torres will perhaps even be President and will have power. Ramirez snarls that he wouldn’t be here otherwise. G says he knows Torres didn’t kill his wife. Ramirez: “If you’re so sure, why don’t you let the police do their jobs?” G replies that, if they keep questioning Torres, it will affect his image and the polls will fall. G tells him that Ramirez should help them and the party will help Ramirez. Ramirez: “If this thing turns around on us and the investigation shows Torres to be guilty, you’d better not let this salpicarme (literally splash on me). Looking grim, he says he’ll finish them off.
Sorry, a guy I don’t recognize is looking at a laptop with some headlines about an awful murder in Poland. [Have we seen him before?] I think the victim might have been tied up like Beatriz was. He prints out the stuff and puts it in an envelope.
Daniel is outside the trafficker’s former house because Moni wanted to be alone. He hears a motorcycle and then finds one on its side in an alley; it’s still warm.
A guy with a beard, holding a motorcycle helmet in his hand, enters the house where Moni has been sitting in the chair where Natalia was recorded.. He shouts for help. He tells her that he and his wife were haciendo senderismo (hiking)when she broke her ankle. He needs help. Daniel comes in with a piece of, I think, rebar. “Get away from her!” Daniel starts beating the snot out of the guy. Moni believed the guy and begs Daniel to stop. She ends up hitting him in the back with the rebar. Daniel tells her the guy is coming to kill her. When she asks why he thinks someone wants to kill her, he blurts it out: “Because they hired me to kill you before they hired him! Give me the rod”
We see the guy take a gun out of his helmet. The next view is outside the house and we hear a cliffhanger shot.
technical difficulties tonight.
Cg is off to see mom taking along her apprentice Liset, hears the video story, don't be ashamed, you are an adult, let's lawyer up and file charges, so it's off to Marcela's.
Ruben (a nerdy version of Cardonito) interviews xy5 girl while Titi's gang watches live on a phone feed, her total life is ruined, her friends have abandoned her, she doesn't remember anything.
security is tight at the debate, Natalia's on it, Val is her usual look cool do nothing mode, delivery guy Santos slides in and slips Diabla the pill, soon to be dripped into a bottle of water in Alf's room.
Marcela advises Hilda to have no contact with Sal till they clear him, I think Mateos is mentioned, CG is off while Marcela gets the details, Liset will walk Hilda home.
Vane has set up a meet with Jota, includes CG, Dan shows with an assistant Rogelio ??, Shadow is on overload but he will roll with it, things get started with a drink, enter Zoraya.
pre debate in Alf's room, Nat grabs a bottle of water for him, yep the spiked one, Val records it all on her phone.
little al is up and wants to play, big Al stops by for some papa time, oops Hilda is there, the ladies are upset he is so beat up (yup, we all love Al), Hilda gets some alone time, Al won't spill, trust me, and CM? (I don't remember if he knows she's missing but it seems like he does) and why isn't Hilda with Sal?, she won't spill, Sandra thinks Al needs medical attention, Marcela intercepts the first aid, Hilda hijacks it all, she will care for him, but don't touch my blood Al warns, QUE?
afterward Al goes to al, Hilda gets it, but not why she is out of the loop, (and is anyone feeding Margarita I wonder?) she is off, with Liset in her wake.
Lucrecia swings back to catch Val texting the Hand in Diabla mode between smokes, Val draws down on her, (I can see Lucrecia as DA taking down a real Hannibal Lecter).
not sure what Calvo's beef is, watching a live sex scene, (is there no privacy anymore, I'm looking around for cameras), he orders take out and a couple of sicarios deliver a hand-grenade.
Sal is down, Hilda won't return his calls, not to worry, Jo is there to comfort him, but wait, is that Leticia in the lobby calling him, she used to work for him as a seamstress.
Alf is working his way through his dizziness for the debate but wait, everyone is telling him to kill Conde.
(additions and corrections are always welcomed)
Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this terrific recap, complete with some Spanish phrases that went right by me when I heard them. Sigh.
I was able to read the note that was left for Eli with the orchid. In big bold letters (which was the only reason I could read it), it said Shhh. Nothing else.
Yes, this time I recognized Gabriel Porras's voice even before I saw him. And I agree, he looks really good. I have to keep reminding myself that he's a bad guy.
I hadn't noticed the bug that the cops put on the back of a chair in Torres' office. Thanks for pointing that out.
One thing I did notice was how cold Alex was when Mónica told him she loved him. If he was trying to imitate a statue, he did a good job.
When MG beats up Hugo, he tells him that the next time Hugo doesn't obey orders, MG will kill him. I wonder whether that, plus the bit of decency we've seen, may turn Hugo into an ally of Natalia and perhaps even help her escape.
Well, the scene in the park between Gabriel and Ramirez showed that Ramirez isn't merely trying not to hurt a potentially powerful politician, he's been actively collaborating with him.
I too wondered at first who the guy was who had found information on the computer about a nasty murder in Poland that had some similarities to Beatriz' murder. I finally decided that it was Eli's friend Humberto, who is also dark haired and slender, with somewhat bushy eyebrows. If that's not who he is, I'm furious that they again cast two people who look alike. (I keep remembering the difficulty I had telling Ricardo and Emanuel apart in Preso No. 1.)
With only four episodes left, I kinda doubt that the would-be assassin shot either Daniel or Mónica. Perhaps Daniel wrested the gun away from him and shot him? I hope not. Given Ana's attitude toward Daniel, his shooting the guy would almost surely get him arrested (again). I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
Thank you, novelera for a great recap. I love when you provide Spanish translations and explanations.
Someone sent Alex his picture with a target drawn on it. That’s the pic Laura looked at before questioning him about his girlfriend. So Laura knows but does not care. Monica calls Alex while he’s "steaming up the kitchen" with Laura.
MG was quite harsh with Hugo, and Diego, who tried to force feed and then slapped Natalia, looked untouched. That made no sense to me at all.
The way Hugo first looked at Natalia made me wonder if he knew who she was or if it was some sort of attraction at first sight.
Gabriel and Ramirez are so quick to want to pin this on Eli. Do they really think a young woman like her would commit a “ritualized murder”, as Laura referred to it?
Ramirez let Gabriel know they were being recorded.
Ana said they caught some Russians who were in on the kidnapping. I guess they spilled about the hideout. But why would she tell Monica the location? What if Moni and Dani taint evidence?
Did Laura try calling Alex before they brought Eli to the station?
I think it’s Humberto who is looking at the Poland murder pics. IMHO, he’s doing work that the police should be doing. I wonder if he's making a connection somewhere. Has Alex been to Poland?
dondi356
Great comments, dondi356.
Yes, I think Laura did try to call Alex before bringing Eli to the police station. I think she got his voice mail.
Good point about "what if Moni and Dani taint the evidence?" I'm interested in how often we amateurs in Viewerville seem to know more about correct police procedure than the police. And don't get me started on lawyers and the law.
Hmmm... interesting question about Alex and Poland.
El Final del Paraíso
Thanks, deb. Technical difficulties didn’t stop you from giving us a solid recap.
I can’t wait for Lucrecia and Natalia to compare notes. Natalia couldn’t tell that bottle of water was already opened?
Mateo is mentioned as a suspect but Hilda doesn’t believe it. He’s not a bad guy—he was the one who grabbed the tablecloth to cover her wardrobe malfunction at the dinner.
I learned something new: ciberacoso = cyber bullying. Erica said she had strength to throw men around but I don’t remember seeing that. Just her dancing and running away. Pilar asked about cops and security video but there won’t be any because Black Hand owns the place.
We didn’t hear the Daniel & Rogelio info on Black Hand, did we?
Hoo boy, Calvo sees the Sal & Hilda video. “This is too much, you SOB. How could you hurt the only good thing in my life. I warned you. This isn’t the end.” Calvo gets his “take out order” (LOL, nice deb!) “Your time is up you bastard.” I don’t get why Calvo pulled that pin so quickly. I wouldn’t mind it if he puts the grenade under Jo’s seat.
I thought Calvo was outside Sal’s place. So the next scenes at Sal’s are with Jo in Sal’s room and Leticia in the lobby. Where’s Calvo with the grenade? Did I miss something?
So I guess XY5 affects everyone differently. Seems like Berrio is having a bad trip. Should be an interesting debate.
dondi356
dondi, thanks so much! you've got such a good handle on this story and your comments really add, not to mention I totally missed it with Calvo.
it didn't click that it was Hilda's internet video, of course Calvo would see that and yes I think he is outside of Sal's, "my house is your house" hostel ready to lob that grenade through the window, of course Sal told the doorman he would be down to meet Leticia, maybe he will leave Jo behind for some body work to match her face.
Shadow's meet gets down to business, who is this guy Hand, they have pics but never a name, all eyes are on Zoraya, does she know/tell?
Jota and Vane break away, Vane has told Nanita a story about Prince Jota who will return some day on a big white horse, (she looks as bored as me), oh and Paola is in China, maybe, (what happened to Japan, do they have Yakuza in China), and AL is mia, taking down Diabla.
Santi and CG talk (I don't think she minds having a guy crazy about her on every corner) she tried to be the best wife she could for 20 years, but over the last 2 years things have changed, Santi swears to fight for her.
Leticia came to tell Sal someone threw a grenade into his office.
Calvo gives Al a beating for being awol, (hey, he came back didn't he, and probably tied himself to the chair)
Mari is back in business, Dayana, Moncho, toast to being partners.
the Colonel is perusing the dvds, and finds Conde's treatment of a minor girl disgusting.
someone get Alf some more water, are you ok?
CG gives the "we are all on the same team" talk, looking at Zoraya, we can lure Hand out by exposing him.
team Babes (and Moncho) are ready to follow orders, and find the stutterer, Mari knows where his daughter is.
the debate is on, Alf dazzles the crowd with statistics, while Conde is speechless.
Titi thinks Alf has b*lls, we will have to kill him, but wait, Conde is Hand's guy, lets back Alf and let Hand take care of him while we move our merc.
Alf is losing his grip, holding on, till he starts speaking in Klingon, throwing things around, including Conde, a security guy, gets his gun, and it's 3 bullets to Conde's head, what? too much for Diabla who grabs the gun.
Conde gives a press conference, the watching Hand compliments him on obedience, he's saying what I told him to say, but Santos wants to perfect the drug, ah Jota, Diabla calls in, they found no trace of the drug in Alf's system.
Alf's team around his hospital bed have all but put in their applications with the other candidates when Val arrives and gives them a pep talk, Alf is a fighter.
Titi's crew wants a look at xy5.
Zoraya will have to wait till Alf recovers for their talk.
the Colonel swings by to see the AG (attorney general) with the brief case full of goodies.
Hilda is home mopping the entry, Mateos swings by, let's talk, nope, as he gets the waste water in the face, but what if I told you who made the video?
No te puedes esconder - capítulo 7 - martes - parte 1 de 3
The episode opens with the police reading aloud some of the email messages that Eli wrote to Beatriz but didn't send: "If only you'd disappear forever." "Face it, Alberto doesn't love you." "I'd do anything for you to die." Laura asks her whether she really wanted Beatriz to die. Eli replies, "No, I swear it!" She admits that she hated Beatriz, but she didn't want her to die and didn't kill her .
The scene changes. We see a large trail of blood leading to two bodies, Daniel's and the guy who was very likely hired to kill Mónica. Finally Daniel moves, pushes the body of the other guy off him, and gets up. Mónica is standing there with the iron bar still in her hand. She bends over and feels the guy's neck for a pulse. We're not told whether she finds one. Probably not. "Don't touch me!" she yells at Daniel. "I can explain," he says. "Tell it to the police," she replies. She drops the iron bar and runs off. I'm still not sure what happened. The gunshot I thought we heard at the very end of yesterday's episode could possibly have been fired by Daniel. On the other hand, the guy's head had lots of blood on it, which suggests he may have been smashed on the head with the iron bar. By Mónica? By Daniel?
At the police station, Ana is talking on the phone to the judge. He has just told her that she's going to have to stop the investigation into the Russian kidnappers because of a procedural error. Ana is furious. Human trafficking is taking place through the Port of Algeciras, and the police have to stop because of a lawyer's maneuver.
Alex calls Mónica. She tells him she's been feeling lonely, and every day she feels he's more distant.
Laura gets the yellow envelope with photocopies of the newspaper articles about crime and murder in Polanco. I finally looked up Polanco--it has nothing to do with Poland (which is Polonia). Instead, it is a rather prestigious district in Mexico City. The articles included photos, and it's quite possible that one of them was of Alex. Laura looks as if she may throw up.
Daniel calls Velasco and asks him to meet him at a bar. Velasco reluctantly agrees to do so. When he arrives, Daniel asks about the Russians, and Velasco tells him about the "procedural error" that has temporarily stopped the investigation. Daniel tells him, "I can help. Give me a name, a place, something." Velasco finally tells him that Natalia was smuggled in a container from the Port of Algeciras.
Instead of throwing up, Laura goes to see Alex. "I have something for you," she says. "Oh yeah?" he replies playfully. She hands him the envelope. He looks at the enclosures and says "I didn't kill her." He adds, "It happened 20 years ago in Mexico." He tells Laura that clearly someone is trying to screw him over, probably the same person who put a target on his photo. As he's telling this to Laura, Mónica arrives, sees Alex with Laura, and leaves. Alex tells her that his relationship with Mónica is over. [Too bad Mónica didn't stick around to hear this.] Laura looks like she's been had. She then tells Alex about Eli's having been arrested. Alex is angry that Laura didn't tell him this right away. He insists that Eli had nothing to do with Beatriz' murder, and he rushes off to the police station to see his daughter.
Eli hugs him and says, "I didn't do anything." She tells him that she had a sexual relationship with Alberto Torres. She admits that she wrote angry emails to Beatriz saying she wished Beatriz would die, but she didn't send them and didn't kill her. Alex then says to her in an oddly confident voice, "I'm sure the guilty person will turn up sooner than you think."
No te puedes esconder - capítulo 7 - martes - parte 2 de 3
Laura questions Alex informally about the Polanco crimes. He claims that he had a relationship with the woman, but he didn't kill her. Laura tells him, "You got away because of a procedural error [what? another one?] in collecting evidence, not because you were declared innocent." She also tells him that unless they find another suspect for Beatriz' murder, his daughter is in big trouble. He comes over to her and stands very close. "You're afraid of me, aren't you? Do you really think I'm capable of this?" he asks, stroking her hair. "I don't like these games," Laura tells him. "I think you do," he replies, and then leaves.
Mónica is awakened by the doorbell ringing. It's Daniel. He tells her he has information about Natalia. That's like open sesame: she lets him in. He tells her that Natalia was smuggled out through the Port of Algeciras. "The police have to follow protocol, but I don't," he says. She asks him who hired him to kill her. He tells her he doesn't know. He met with an intermediary. He's about to leave when she calls out, "I'm coming with you."
Hugo brings Natalia bread and water. He apologizes for the day before. He then gives her something. It's not clear at first what it is, but it looks like a folded knife. He tells her to hide it. He'll tell her more when it's time. She looks puzzled. "Do you want to leave?" he asks. "I do, too. Are you in or not?"
News reports of Eli's being questioned by the police about Beatriz' death are all over the media. The police boss wants to know who leaked the story. No one knows.
Mónica tells Daniel she'll drive, since he reeks of alcohol and there are checkpoints. The next time we see them, Daniel is driving. Did I miss something? Mónica wants to go straight to the Port, but Daniel thinks it's too late in the day, they'll be too conspicuous. They should go to a hostel and go to the Port in the morning when it's busier and they'll stand out less.
Several guys including Diego are apparently going to take Natalia somewhere. Suddenly, Natalia stabs Diego. He's wounded pretty badly, so one guy helps him leave. A short time later there's a meeting with De la Cruz (the Gabriel Porras character). It turns out that the weapon was Diego's blade. De la Cruz is not pleased. "I don't want any more errors." Hugo offers to drive, trying to make up for his mistakes the day before.
Mónica and Daniel arrive at the Port. Daniel tells her "we'll blow it if we go in now." A policeman comes up to them and asks what they want. Mónica tells him they were just leaving. The next thing we see is Mónica surreptitiously following Daniel. He enters a bar, strikes up a conversation with a guy who works at the Port.
No te puedes esconder - capítulo 7 - martes - parte 3 de 3
Alex, angry about his daughter, goes to see Alberto Torres. Torres tells him that she was an intern only because Alex asked Torres to hire her. Alex angrily tells him that Eli didn't kill Torres' wife. And Torres doesn't know the half of it. It turns out that Beatriz turned to Alex for consolation and advice. She cried on his shoulder about Torres' preference for young girls. "And," adds Alex, "she was a good lay."
Daniel buys several rounds of drinks for himself and the guy who works at the Port. At one point, Daniel knocks into the guy, spilling his drink on him. What the point of this is, I don't know. Did he think the guy could be wearing a wire? Anyway, Daniel eventually tells his new buddy that he wants to ship some contraband, nothing serious. The buddy tells him to look for Tano, who can be recognized by a diamond-shaped pin.
Hugo calls his father and tells him to leave right away with Hugo's sister. He says he can't explain, just do it. We then see Hugo fiddling with a car. A short time later, Hugo is driving. There's a guy next to him, and another in the back watching Natalia. Suddenly the car has problems. Hugo gets out, lifts the hood. One guy gets out to see what's wrong. Hugo attacks him and probably kills him. The other guy gets out, and Hugo shoots him. He then unlocks Natalia's chained hands. They flee.
New buddy brings Daniel to Tano. Tano pulls a gun on Daniel. "Something fishy about him," he says. [I think Mónica has again followed Daniel and sees this, but I'm not sure.]
Alex comes to the police station. "I wnat to turn myself in. I killed Beatriz Pratz."
Thank you so much, Juanita. That was an excellent, informative recap. Loved “That's like open sesame:”
Thank you for clearing up the Poland/Polanco location. I had English caps on and read them as Poland. I need to pay better attention. Nevertheless, Alex is looking Alex guilty of horrific murders. I’m guessing that Laura didn’t tell her colleagues about the news clippings. I didn’t see them up on the wall when Alex turned himself in.
Laura knew Alex had a girlfriend but she didn’t know it was Monica. Alex wanted Eli to work with Torres knowing he was scum. And wow, he slept with Beatriz, too? All so sordid.
I had the same questions about Monica and Daniel at the kidnap site. So they left a dead guy there. Will they have to account for this at some point? I don’t know if there is time for such details and answers in such a short series.
Monica did follow Daniel to the port and saw the police lead him away at gunpoint. Will she have to save him?
dondi356
Terrific recap, Juanita. You got things that I definitely missed. I'm still struggling with the Spanish accents. And I can't figure out the bleeped words as well with Spaniards. I completely missed that Alex had bedded Beatriz.
I'm pretty sure that the fact that Alex confessed to killing Beatriz means he did NOT do it.
It was pretty obvious Hugo felt sympathy for Natalia and would help her. Since this is a short novela, it happened fast!
I'm very glad they showed Mónica discovering Alex with Laura. She needs to move on from this womanizer.
I think Mónica went to the police station to tell them about Daniel being hired to kill her, as well as look for an update on Natalia. But, when Ana told her about the technicality that would get the Russians off, she changed her mind. She, as well as Daniel, realizes police channels aren't working the way they should.
I suppose Commissioner Ramirez was the one who told Gabriel about Eli being arrested for the murder. He's playing ball for political reasons.
I'm so glad you cleared up the Polanca business. IIRC I was the one who wrote Poland in the first place. And I was very confused up to and including Laura's questioning Alex - confused as to where the crime occurred.
Thanks very much, dondi356 and novelera, for your helpful and insightful comments.
I think we were all under the impression at first that the events in the photocopied articles took place in Poland. And since Alex had been all over the world, it didn't seem all that unlikely that he had been in Poland. But something seemed not quite right about that amount of English-language newspaper coverage of a murder in Poland. I finally checked with my good friend Wikipedia, who set me straight. :-)
It's pretty clear that Alex is a womanizer and perhaps worse, but I agree, novelera, that we're being played with, and that all the signs pointing to Alex as a killer (including his confession to the police at the end of this episode) will likely turn out to be red herrings.
As you point out, dondi356, with only three more episodes to go, there are a lot of details that will probably not be resolved. I just hope Telemundo isn't using this 10-episode novela as a tryout for a longer sequel. The network seems to specialize in trying to get blood from a stone. (That's why I was so amazed when Reina 2 turned out to be so good!)

Thank you, deb for another great recap and Halimacandy with the great color commentary
Calvo told Albeiro he got revenge on Sal but he didn’t tell him why. I hope Calvo finds out it was Jo that recorded and sent the video.
I can understand why Dayana would have videos of her clients for blackmail purposes but why would she put herself front and center in them? Let’s hope the AG is not on any of the videos and is legit.
Cardonita is having a good time in Bogota. He’s going to meet someone who owes his dad (the DEA has some of those records from the raid) and he will meet with Titi’s buddy. He has some info from Erica, XY5 girl and will share when he returns.
Why do I have a bad feeling that something will stop Mateo from telling Hilda because it is too soon to tell.
dondi356
Jo did it!
Mateos tells Hilda, she made the video and distributed it.
meanwhile, Marcela and crew are shaking down Sal and his shadow Jo, he denies everything.
Cg is having an emotional day (which happens more than once a month) Titi's death seems to keep coming up, oh well, what about Alf? hmm, Val has shown CG the tape of Nat giving him a drink, Val has also talked earlier to Vane about a mole.
Jota is talking to Zoraya, do you still love Santi when he shows, they agree to leave the past in the past, hug.
CG and Vane talk about Shadow and Zoraya, their links to the Hand.
Hilda and Marcela have a sit down (how did they lose Sandra) Sal denies all, Marce will have to talk to Mateo, they also talk AL, Hilda sees Marce is sweet on him but warns, he is like any man, whisper sweet things in your ear, then run away when things get hard (couldn't convince me of that by looking at him now), Hilda has given the best years of her life to others, but no more, she will be reborn (look out it's the Catamom). [actually Catherine Siachoque (Hilda) is one of the most evil characters I have ever seen in a novela, this series is a real turn around for her]
if something happens to Shadow, he wants Santi to carry out his revenge, ditto for Santi.
Dayana, Mari, and Moncho, (inseparable it seems) send Kike and Manotas (also inseparable) into the daycare to grab Nanita.
Hand talks about all the money he makes from the underground fights.
Al has been training hard (with Calvo filming from afar), this time he gets the best of his trainer, clocks him, they hug.
Rog uncovers a story about a woman in an asylum, 7 years ago ?? claims a man took all her money to control the politicos, Dan is interested.
CG and Vane talk about Paola in Japan (lets get the country straight girls) when Vane gets a pain in her chest, nanita?
Sal is questioned about the office bombing, enemies, nope, sometime people have secret enemies (does Jo gulp), hmm, Calvo?
Cardonito is talking to his dad's old friend Pipe, who has a fleet of trucks, airplanes too ??, hands him a briefcase, yes we can do business.
Alf awakes after the convention explosion, wait, maybe it was the debate, Lucrecia shows him a video of his madness, I guess the party will keep him as a candidate but they don't want him to make anymore public appearances.
Leticia talks Carla, her daughter gone, someone will pay.
Ivan comes to see Nat, Val sniffs a rat (or good guy in her case) and is on him, whew, he's whisked away, CG explains Nat is not available, she assigns another agent to him (I breath easy that it's not Val or Vane)
Vane rushes into CG, Nanita has been kidnapped.
Hilda spills her Al story to Marcela, yes she stills loves him, but she's working on extinguishing it.
yep, Natalia is being detained, she pleads her case to Francisco who shows only disappointment, time for the lie detector test which concludes with everyone leaving the room, no one says a word, Francisco with a dark look on his face, not looking good Nat, when the door opens a crack, it's Ivan (Yeah!!!, I like this guy, and Natalia is such a trooper), he'll help her and ducks out.
it's been 2 weeks and Vane is still crying (did I miss the screen line), Hand gives the Babes word, call the parents, and Vane gets the call, no DEA, and they will negotiate with her and Jota, she calls Jota, mums the word, he'll sneak off.
Mexican Cuina thinks Titis dead, hmm, they'll get their in by selling her xy4 and the cash they need. (I noticed no one dies by xy5, wonder what xy4 modified is like).
it's been 2 weeks and the Colonel tells CG the AG has done nothing, disappointment fills the room, he'll complete his vow and go to the press, CG knows just the guys, but if he does this he'll be a marked man, he doesn't care, (when CataG says she'll stand by him, I'm wondering if we will ever see him again) the Colonel tells Dan he gave the DA the originals but he has copies (we don't hear CG saying she made copies too)
does Sal gets a subpoena, he's falling into an abyss, not to worry, Jo is there, wine with dinner, forget the food, one drink after the other, Jo slithers in for a kiss.
El Final del Paraíso
Thank goodness for Mateo. He needs to speak with Marcela immediately. Hilda told Mateo she’s going to wage her own war. Hilda and Marcela had a nice chat. deb, they lost Sandy because Gabriel was not there! Where ever he goes, she goes. She’s a very annoying girl, no wonder Gabriel is not interested.
Really pissed about this: Why is everyone so quick to believe Valeria that Natalia is bad just because she handed Berrio the bottle of water. I was hoping that Vane’s possible suspicions of Valeria would be heard. But now that Nanita is kidnapped, Vane is in mother mode (like CataG with Mari) and will forget. This show is making working moms look bad.
Two weeks went by and I didn’t see anything on screen either. Only the characters mentioned it. There was some weird editing in this episode, I hope they are not going to start cutting.
Still waiting for Lucrecia to speak with CataG about someone in her unit.
I’m liking Ivan, too. Valeria has his first name. Will she find the connection to Calvo Sr.?
Not surprised the AG is burying this. It’s too hot to handle.
Will Sal resist or will he have to blame it on the wine?

Can't ever recap Wednesdays - Spanish class.
I remember:
Alex sticks to his story about killing Beatriz. Eli believes he did it.
Mónica saves Daniel from the crooked customs agent, but not before he calls a Russian. The customs agent kills the Russian when he gets the drop on Daniel. Daniel and Mónica find out that Natalia was shipped in a container to Morocco and then flown to Mexico.
Daniel and Mónica decide to fly to Mexico.
Natalia and Hugo get away, but Hugo is shot. Shades of Reina 2 when Sofía took a bullet out of Lupo; Natalia also gets one out of Hugo with the appropriate groans of pain.
Natalia has taken Hugo to her old home, which is, of course, still empty after 3 years and doesn't look that bad. If they'd had the lights work, I really would have snorted, but she lit a candle.
Natalia uses his cell phone which causes the baddies, Diego and another one to find her. I fear Hugo is toast. I was screaming at my TV for Natalia to run like crazy once she left that house, but no, in typical telenovela heroine fashion she uneasily looked around herself and moved like a snail! Argh!
Alex's arrest is all over España TV news.
Humberto has some sort of dark secret past in Mexico that caused his grandmother IIRC to move him to Spain. Was his mother the victim 20 years ago in Polanco?
Any volunteers for tonight? I have book club, but if no one can do it, I could do a very brief one.
thanks for your comments dondi!
CataG seems to in the clouds since Titi died, hope Natalia and Ivan can pick up the slack, Jo seems to be missing the bullet because Hilda must think Sal is in on it too.
Many thanks, novelera, for stepping up with this helpful "here's what I remember" account. I'll try to add a bit to it:
I loved it that Daniel called the guy at the Port gilipollas. It means lots of related things, like idiot, jackass, etc. Several times, I remember mentioning this word in Spanish classes, and invariably the Latin American instructors had not heard of it. I guess it's mostly used in Spain, and pretty often. I recall hearing it multiple times in Reina 1. I suspect one thing that appealed to me is that I knew a word that the instructors didn't :-). Probably the only word I knew that they didn't.
When Velasco is searching Alex's place, he finds a half-smoked cigarette with lipstick on it. He tells Laura that she shouldn't interview Alex. When she looks a bit perplexed, he says she has one flaw--she leaves half-smoked cigarettes where she shouldn't.
Alex gets very explicit about the details of his supposed murder of Beatriz. I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps he really did do it. He links her death to Gloria Gonzalez's death 20 years earlier, and he says "I guess the women I love wind up the same way." Laura asks, "All of them?" He says "yes, the ones I loved." I'm not sure how to take that. Also, Velasco is convinced that Alex is telling the truth. Velasco tells Laura, "He's the one, Laura. Don't make the same mistake twice." (My mental pendulum just swung back to "no, Alex didn't do it.")
Natalia does a pretty good job of removing the bullet. I guess she and Sofia from Reina 2 learned this skill by watching telenovelas.
I too wondered whether Humberto's mother is the woman (Gloria Gonzalez) who was killed in Polanco 20 years ago. We see a shot of a young boy opening a door and getting a look of horror/terror on his face. Was he the young Humberto, and was he discovering his mother's corpse? Eli asks him "Did they ever find who killed her?" but instead of an answer, we get five minutes of commercials.
Hugo gives Natalia a big wad of money and tells her to go as far as possible, buy a phone, and then call his friend (gives her the phone number). And then disappear. Oops, too late. Diego and the other baddies find her almost as soon as she's left the house.
