Good Friday my faithful friends. What an interesting week we have had here on El Dragon. Although Monday night’s episode was a little slow, they did not leave us there and the rest of the week was action packed.
Hector is in full retreat back in his apartment, after the hot and heavy make out session, it appears he has had an attack of conscience. Claudia has had nothing of the sort, pursuing him through the apartment, telling him that they both knew this was bound to happen. He is digging in his heals about remaining faithful to Ana his wife, but Claudia tells him that he also has feelings for her. But we know that Hector wants his cake and to eat it too, because Claudia is his obvious work wife. She supports him, she is in the trenches with him, she shares his view of the world. Whereas, his wife is painted as the nag, since she worries for his safety and tells him to not do what could get him killed. Hector tells Claudia that he doesn’t want her to become his mistress/lover “amante,” she suggests that there are other options. I ask which options might that be. Either she is his mistress, he leaves his wife for her, or they leave things as they are. Don’t think too much gray area exists here. He finally does what needed to be done, decides to leave the house. But with Claudia in tow to go and keep an eye on Duarte.
Miguel comes and asks Adela for the keys to the car. You can see in Miguel’s body language that he is uncomfortable having to give explanations about his whereabouts to Adela. Although, she offers to drive him to Jimena’s. Miguel refuses and tells her that he will see her in the morning. Looks like he is pulling an all nighter. In regards to this, we can see that Miguel really is unscrupulous about how he uses sex and women. Jimena, and the Serbian daughter, all in a few days. Adela wasn’t exaggerating, when she suggested to Jimena at the gala that he got around. The end of this scene is the epitome of the relationship that exists between Adela and Miguel. He turns and wants to say something, or maybe just to look at her. And she does the same. The music gets romantic and in true telenovela fashion, the viewers are left holding their breath, hoping for words or something, that we know will not and cannot come, at least not yet. But at least for this viewer, these are the moments that keep me coming back. Tuesday night’s episode was a perfect example. The scene in the kitchen, the use of the word “querer,” and it’s multiple meanings, the pregnant pauses, all have us holding our breath, but at the end we know they will probably not say anything at all.
Angel arrives for his date with Chisca and after the message she got from Valentin last night, she tries to blow him off. This time Angel gets a little out of control because he is done! He grabs Chisca and is yelling in her face until Jorge and Dora hear the commotion and intercept Angel. But he isn’t done there. He tells the room in general that it is time that they know the type of “Porqueria” crappy person Chisca is. It sounds like he wants to let everyone know about the overdose and maybe a bit about her drug habits in general. He tells Jorge to remind her who is the good guy and who is the bad guy in the story. Adela even comes in. The entire time, Chisca keeps telling him to leave. Jorge covers for his sister again. And even after everyone defends her, when Dora asks her what is going on, she yells at Dora to mind her business and leave her alone.
Dora won’t leave it alone and goes and hits up Jorge in his room. He still protects her when Dora asks what he meant by the whole “good guy bad guy” statement. But Jorge, with unusual astuteness, turns the tables on Dora. He asks her if she knows that Chisca uses. Dora tells her that she does and that they have tried to get her to quit but nothing has worked. Jorge reminds Dora that she has been around that stuff since she was little so she doesn’t know a different life. Dora tells Jorge to not justify Chisca’s actions. Jorge says he isn’t and tries to explain but Dora cuts him off and says that Chisca is an adult and makes her own choices. And then in another turn, which hit Dora like a brick was when Jorge blames good ole grandpa. He tells her “well then the one who made the worst decision of his life was Grandpa.” Dora didn’t like that, especially when Jorge continued that he was the one who got them all into that crappy business. Jorge seems to see it all very clearly. He tells her that for their business, his parents are dead, Miguel is doing dirty dealings and just look at him and Chisca. Dora excuses the whole thing. She says, we are who we are, and to never talk bad about his grandfather again. I don’t know how she has the nerve to say that, knowing what we know about how the siblings parents died. Imagine what Jorge would have said if he knew. He showed more of the nerve we saw when dealing with the doctor.
Hector and Claudia arrive for their stakeout at the apartment building they say Duarte enter into earlier. They are looking around and realize there are no cameras anywhere. Then they hit pay dirt. Duarte pulls in to the lot. Hector pulls Claudia out of site and tells her to get into the car and to act natural.
Now we get the nauseating conversation between Jimena and Miguel on their date. I am assuming this is the celebratory get together Jimena suggested yesterday after the recovered the ephedrine successfully. I say nauseating because the tone of Jimena’s voice and the way she not only roped Miguel into the date, but is working over time in keeping him interested has my stomach turning. Unlike the natural way that he and Adela coexist, Jimena has to lay it on thick to seem interesting. They talk about the fact that he hasn’t been to the theater in the city even though he has traveled all over world. She offers to be his tour guide in rediscovering his country. He tells her she is giving herself another job. She tells him that taking him around is not work. The proceeds to invite him back to her place...to talk. I find it interesting that Miguel has never asked her out. In their relationship…if that is what you call it… she is the one who always asks him out, or over. To me that screams desperation. I am sure my love of Jimena just oozes from my words, but come on!!! Have some dignity. Of course Miguel, never one to turn down a roll in the hay, accepts her offer, except he tells her that he doesn’t want go over to talk. Is it just me or is he too finding her conversation a little saccharine.
Back in the underground garage of Carlos Duarte, Hector is spying. He sees Pig and piglet (Tacho) with Duarte and sees him pass Duarte a paper. Piglet starts closing in on his location while Hector realized that somehow, while he was investigating the sight, he somehow got out of his car without his phone. Hector has always seemed very professional to me as a reporter, but this was downright amateur. Duarte tells Pig that he needs to go into hiding until the whole thing blows over. Before the piglet gets to his hiding place, the Pig calls him back, saving Hector from being discovered. When backs are turned, Hector runs to the car where Claudia is waiting and tells her to drive, but not turn on her lights. They follow Carlos to a building, where he gets out. Claudia asks what he is doing there that late at night. Hector tells her it is probably because of what Pig told him. Claudia asks if it was what Pig said, or the paper he gave Carlos. Hector confirms that yes, it has to be that.
The sun is rising over the la Ciudad de Mexico and and various meth labs are being raided, but the cops shoot to kill. We see that one of the labs is the one where they discovered that what they thought was ephedrine was really sand. So we know they are Halcon’s labs. In the next scene, Halcon is trying to evacuate his home when the cops show up and take him into custody.
On a lighter note, the next scene finds us with Adela and her sweet grandmother. Adela is admonishing granny for not eating all of her breakfast and her grandmother is telling her that she doesn’t eat as much these days. Granny asks about the foundation and Adela answers that she is liking it “un chorro” or a lot. Of course granny then asks her if she is liking it more or less than Victor. Adela tells granny, that with her you can’t say anything or she goes for the jugular. Grandma says that Adela’s love life is more interesting than her novela that isn’t going anywhere. Adela admits that she like him and that he likes her. Grandma says she can die in peace now. Adela takes her at her word and tells her no, she can’t die and tells her not to get excited cause nothing has even happened. Grandma’s reply was…yet! At this point grandma starts coughing so uncontrollably that a nurse has to come and give her some pills. The nurse has a look of concern on her face and grandma tells us that her attitude is much better than her health. She tells her that the best thing is that she likes someone and is liked back. Poor Grandma Regina.
From this touching scene we get to see Corrupt Carlos Duarte giving a press conference where he is touting the capture and dismantling of Halcon’s network. As well as taking credit for it. Hector tells Claudia that this must have been the info that Epig gave Carlos. After what happened it seems to me that they followed Carlos to the Ministerio Publico, Mexico’s version of a police station, or something of that nature. But Claudia says, of course, he knew where to find them, that’s why he went running to the office to mount the operation. During the question and answer segment of the press conference, Hector feeds information to another journalist. The journalist then asks “there is a rumor that the information about the labs was given by a criminal , is that true.” In true Duarte fashion, his face gets extremely hard at the question. He tries to answer diplomatically, the they found the labs through an exhaustive police investigation and that credit shouldn’t be taken from the police. The reporter continues pressing, “so is that a yes or no?” Duarte answers “I can’t deny that there is always someone who is sorry and ready to help.” The reporter asks “and is this the case?” Duarte says he can’t answer for security reasons and the reporter throws back, “security or convenience?” The assistant of Duarte immediately responds that the question has been answered and ends the conference.
And then we jump to Jimena and Miggy having breakfast where Miguel gives us a hard and fast explanation of the facts, just in case we weren’t paying close enough attention. “Epigmenio sold the ephedrine to El Halcon, since Epigmenio didn’t deliver, El Halcon wanted to kill him, so Epigmenio turned him over to Duarte.” Jimena asks is he sure. Miguel answers, “it’s obvious.” Jimena starts to freak out when Miguel gets up to leave. She asks why, he says he is going to see Hector, that must be why Hector asked him to watch the press conference. Jimena asks if Mig thinks Hector knows something. Mig says that that is what he needs to find out.
Yeah!! Another Chisca scene. I swear, I too am sick of her. Although I doubt she dies off in any type of timely fashion for our liking. She is gabbing it up with her friend at the gym telling her about the incidents that occurred the night before with Angel and the call from Valentin. “As soon as I heard his voice, everything changed, and the last thing I wanted to do was go out with Angel.” Her friend asked her if she called him back (Val) and she said she did a thousand times, but he didn’t answer. Friend Adri seems to have her head on straight because she comments about how weird it all seems. Chisca is in the coke cloud in her head because she replies, “he told me he loved me and I trust him, I have to trust him.”
Well, to those of you asking for it, you have invoked good ol IRS agent Howard Toledo, and we see him in his office in Miami, and faithful Jeremias stating the obvious, that the stocks in Ecogreen and Novotech are on the rise and that they should have invested. Toledo is not happy. Toledo says that it is time to pay a visit to the CEO of Ecogreen (remember the cross dressing, party with the boys, guy?).
Toledo shows up at the car dealership asking for Señor Santamarina. When asked if he has an appointment, he shows his IRS badge. The man immediately leaves to fetch Santamarina. They greet each other and when Howard says he is from the IRS, Santamarina offers to introduce him to his accountants office. Toledo tells him that he did not come to talk about the dealership or to buy a car. He came to talk about Ecogreen. Santamarina escorts Toledo to his office. They sit down and Toledo tells Santi that this is a routine visit, that they pay to any company that is new to the stock market and is doing well. (I am not a stock expert, but that right there sounds shady). Toledo puts on his nice guy face and asks Santi, “so…how’d it all start?” Santi goes on to tell him how he has been asked that question a million times and Toledo has the stupidest nice guy look on his face when he says, repeat it for me. He says he is in a business man who has always been interested in green issues and so it was natural for him to be interested in a company like Ecogreen. And since money doesn’t grow on trees he decided to put his company in the stock market and he became an investor as well. He gives Toledo the paperwork for the company. Then Toledo ask him to tell him about Novotech. Santi looks confused, asks what he means. Toledo tells Santi that Ecogreen sold Novotech the Grace Motor Prototype and that a few days later, Paula Sandoval, CEO of Novotech committed suicide. Santi says, “what happened to Paula was very sad, she was a great person and a great businesswoman. It was a tragedy”. Toledo baits Santi more…”it was a tragedy that could have had to so with information that the prototype was failing, don’t you think?” Santi manages to mutter out that only Paula knew why she made the choices that she did, but Toledo by now is like a dog with a bone and isn’t letting up. Telling Santi how convenient things worked out for Ecogreen. Santi gets up in arms over this comment. He asks him straight out “what are you implying, is this an interrogation.” Toledo backs off slightly now saying no, that he just wants the truth. Santi asks, the truth about what. And he replies, about the facts, which is really no answer at all. Santi is now getting curious about the line of questioning as he seems to realize, just like we have here at the patio, that it has gone beyond the scope of what an IRS agent should be investigating. He asks, “who are you an IRS agent or the police,” he then proceeds to put an hasta aqui to the questioning of Toledo by telling him that if he has any questions about the accounting of his companies to take it up with his accountant,” and then asks him to leave. Toledo leaves a card and tells Santi that ”it is always good to cooperate with the IRS.” Phew!!! What a long drawn out scene. Avila is playing a real creep in this show, just in my opinion. Although, he wasn’t Santo de mi devotion in Teresa either, always opening his mouth when he shouldn’t have been.
Hector and Migs are meeting to talk about the Pig, Duarte connection. Mig opens with, are these still suspicions or do you have proof. Hector tells Mig that he saw with his own eyes, Epig give Duarte a letter and that minutes later Duarte was as the Secretary of the Interiors office, assembling an operation to wipe out Halcon’s labs and arrest him. Mig confirms that Hector followed Carlos. Hector tells him there was no other way, besides, he is sure that this was not a coincidence, that it was a payback of favors. Mig shakes his head denying Hectors statement, telling him the truth, it wasn’t payback, but rather Pig trying to save his neck. Mig admits to Hector about the stolen Ephedrine and everything involved. Hector does not like hearing that Mig is involved in all that and tells him he can’t believe that he just says it like it is no big deal. Mig tells him, I am telling you the only way there is, it is just business. Miguel and Hector hash out their difference of philosophy over what is and isn’t “just business” Hector bringing up the suicide again. Hector preaches at Miguel about how is he going to justify killing people or worse, them killing the people around him and then calls him a white-collar criminal and storms off in a huff.
Well my friends, we are only about half way through the episode and I am once again on the road with my boys, and super beat. I will finish this up in the morning. Although, I am on pacific time, so it may be a little later than noon for those in the East. Leave your comments below, I will leave a comment when I update the post with the remainder of the recap.
Ok, I am back a little less tired, although a little late. I sit here in the stands of a high school gym typing this. I didn’t finish as timely as I would have liked. We finished at the gym, and on return to the hotel, I jammed my toe and ended up sleeping off the pain before I was lucid enough to finish. Thanks for your patience. Life often gets in the way of the best intentions. I hope the rest of this makes for a good Sunday read.
Mr. Pig is sitting in a strip club type bar, his locale of choice, celebrating his victory with Chano. I wonder how long it is going to take for the underworld to realize that everyone who does business with Epigmenio Moncado ends up in the slammer, and boycott his betraying butt. But for now, they are talking about how to split up the territory for the distribution of Halcon’s goods and territory. And in true Pig fashion, the strippers join them to celebrate.
From the seedy club to the pristine ness of the golf course. I must say, I like the editing here, they do a good job of giving us a change or scenery or at least mood with all of these heavy scenes. Miguel shows up with Duarte is playing golf and gets right to the point. “ Can you tell my why you are protecting Epigmenio Moncado.” Now, bravo to Miguel for facing it head on, but we know that Carlos will give the kill order to Pig as soon as Miguel is no longer of use to him, making Miguel’s life a little more complicated. The look of surprise on Duarte’s face was funny. But then he tries to play it off, “Epigmenio Moncado, the name sounds familiar.” But Miguel is not letting him off easy, he jumps right in with “don’t play dumb with me, I want you to offer him a deal. I have no problem with him doing business, but he can’t be messing with mine.” Duarte kind of stops trying to fake ignorance of the whole issue and asks, “what happened.” Miguel is there on a mission, only stating what is important to him and nothing not for chit chat. He tells Duarte that unless Epig wants trouble he needs to stay out of Miguel’s affairs. We all know that the highlight of life for Epig is to fxxx with Miguel, so we will have to see how he takes this. Miguel tells Duarte to not do it for him but for his own interests. If Miguel wins, he wins, if Miguel loses, he loses. Duarte starts going the political route with Miguel, trying to use a little diplomacy. “Miguel…you know my dealings with you are priority…(read, until you are of no use to me.)” And Miguel says, " I hope so.” Then Duarte tries to play the offended, “But I am nobodies messenger.” Miguel is shooting straight here. He knows the deal and is giving ample warning, so he simply says, “just give him my message.” I must say I find it hilarious to watch SR stalk off with all seriousness and then fold himself into a tiny golf cart trying to look tough as he presses the pedal and glides off. That end was in need of a peel off with wheels screeching a dust flying.
Leopoldo Santamarina, our beloved Santi is looking for our Cuban lawyer friend, Edgar, on his yacht. He tells Edgar that he needs to talk about something serious, then proceeds to tell him about the visit of Mr. Toledo in his office asking questions about Ecogreen. Edgar asks what he told them, and Santi says nothing, what is he going to say, when he doesn’t know anything. We can see he was spooked by the whole thing. He tells Edgar that if things get dicey, he is going to tell everything to the IRS. He says he refuses to put in risk his career for someone he has never seen in his life. He leaves and Edgar immediately calls Miguel, with a “Houston…we have a problem.” But it seems like this was probably Toledo’s plan, to flush out the big fish.
Adela is at the car waiting, when Victor approaches. Is it just me, or is this guy screaming plant to anyone else, like there has to be someone behind him. They get to chatting, she says she is waiting for her boss to take him to the airport and his first question is “where is he going.” That to me seems too eager, like he is pumping her for info. She give up the info easily though, now that she is liking Victor she forgets what Miguel told her. Although, to be hones, it would suck if you had to live life thinking that every guy that approached you only did so to pump you for information about your boss. She would be ok with the other “guys only want one thing” type of thing, but info on your boss shouldn’t be it. He jokes that he is taking the day off to take out the most beautiful girl in Mexico, and then he was going to ask her if she wanted to go out. Of course she doesn’t like the joke. So he asks her out for real. She asks to do what, and he says it is a surprise. She agrees. The best part of the scene is the last though, when they agree and he says goodbye by kissing her “plena calle” and we get the nice zoom in on Miguel taking it all in from behind them. The look on his face says he is not pleased. He says nothing, just asks if she is ready, but the look of the devil he gave to the back of Victor is more than words could every say.
Peligros joins Jimena in her office with a massive amount of product that he has no idea is earmarked for Chisca. He tells her to make sure her client is careful because the product hasn’t been cut at all and it super high quality. Which we know Chisca already knows. This situation pisses me off. Does Jimena really think that being the supplier to Chisca, when Miguel gave precise orders is going to turn out well. She is trying to befriend the sister, but that is the short game. When the truth comes out I doubt Miguel will look on kindly.
Back at the newspaper Sucesos, Hector is speaking with the reporter he gave the tip to at the press conference. He wants him to print the story, he realizes that he is already in too hot of water to do it himself, not to mention that since he was the witness it makes the story much less objective. The reporter says that if Duarte is working with Moncado it is almost too good to be true. I imagine from a reporters standpoint yes, the scoop of the century, but anyone working with Moncado may see it differently. Either more fear, or complete lack of trust. But is it enough to sink Duarte’s career? Since Hector doesn’t have physical proof, he is hoping that just the rumor is enough to get the ball rolling. The reporter agrees to do the story.
Victor and Adela arrive in a neighborhood that they want us to think is lower class. Victor tells Adela that she has asked him a lot of questions about his life…that he has not told her much…to which she replies, almost nothing…and he claims that he is going to remedy a little of that with this location. Victor gives Adela the sob story of his upbringing and how he pulled himself up from his bootstraps to become the successful man he is today. His father died when he was 15, his mother about 5 years ago. Of course Adela immediately relates and says that she grew up in a similar environment. I’m sorry, this seems a little too much. Who takes a girl on a date to their old house, seems a little too planned but with a purpose. I can’t shake the idea that we are going to learn some unsavory things about “tal Victor”. Everything seems too perfect. She talks about how her father had a garage where he worked on cars. He talks about the storage area they had on the side of the house that he moved into when he was 15 to feel like he was independent. He takes her to the school he attended. Of course Adela was rightly touched by his walk down memory lane. Telling him she would have liked to get to know his family. He tells her his father would liked her because he like women like her who have character, personality, and that tell the truth. Then he says that his mom would have been jealous because she got like than every time he brought someone home. Adela takes the opportunity to poke fun and tells him, “so… you took a lot of women home.” He answers, of course not, that role of Casanova doesn’t fit me.” She tells him, she has to see it to believe it. She asks if he has any family at all, and he tells her no, that he was an only child of an only child. And that his grandmother was the mistress of a man who lived in Puebla, so when his wife found out that about the mistress, he disappeared. This is the only place where we might be able to see what the possible tie in to the story is. Is he somehow the by-blow grandson of Don Lamberto, it would be an interesting coincidence written in instead of the typical, the plant theory. Adela answers by saying…”and people think that telenovelas exaggerate” he answers that these things happen more often in real life than is thought. He says that he could have half-cousins, half-uncles, family from that man.” This is where I think they are laying the ground work for us finding something more about Victor than we think. What do you all think? Or that he somehow already knows about Miguel and that’s why he pursued Adela. Then he says that he has never met any of them and Adela, bleeding heart that she is, feels bad and is sad that he is completely alone. When she says as much, he acts all put out, saying, “what, you trying to make me depressed or what.” On the theory of the plant idea, this also struck me as odd, that he has sooo much in common with Adela. She has only her grandmother in the world for the holidays and such, and he has absolutely no one. This gives him the opportunity to suggest that this could all change depending on her. She says that it could, depending on him.
The next scene is another adventure into the voyeuristic tendencies of another of our resident sexually depraved, if we count Angel and Chisca, as well as Valentin among them. I think everyone can see for themselves what is happening, so I will move on to the phone call that Toledo receives in the middle of his show. Jeremias calls to tell Toledo that Miguel is in Miami, much to the creepy faced joy of Toledo. That smile makes me ill.
Back in CDMX, Jimena is meeting her obligation at supplier for Chisca. Again, can I mention the repugnance I feel at this whole scenario. Supplying someone with drugs so they will be your ally in winning over their brother is about as desperate as you can get. So Chisca isn’t at all happy with the meager amount that Jimena is giving her. She tells her that it won’t even last for a single party. Jimena tells her that when she is sure that Chisca is doing her part, there is more where that came from. Chisca tells Jimena she will do her part no problem, she doesn’t like the driver chick, or “chofercita” either and tells her to bring her a bigger bag next time. How pathetic, both of them.
Jeremias meets with Toledo in a car, and says, so it looks like Miguel Garza took the bait. Jeremias, is confused and asks “what bait?” Toledo then explains to the audience who did not understand from his meeting with Santamarina, that the only reason he went to visit Santamarina was to catch the bigger fish or Miguel Garza. And that they need to keep a close eye on Miguel. Jeremias says that he knows exactly where he is.
Once again jumping back to CDMX, Flaco and Jorge are in the office researching the profiles of various potential individuals for a business, not sure which. Jorge suggests one, and Flaco tells him that the guy doesn’t meet the characteristics. Kenia tells the group she has to leave for a Dr.’s appointment and Flaco says its fine, he can finish with Jorge, at which point Jorge too claims that he has a test tomorrow and would like to go and study. Flaco makes a comment about them both leaving early, but says he will finish on his own. Kenia tells Flaco that’s why she likes him so much. Jorge and Kenia leave together. Hmmm…
Is it just me, or has this episode already had too much of Adela and Victor? In Victor’s apartment, I am assuming, he offers her a drink, tequila or whiskey, she says tequila of course. The toast to their origins, and she asks him to tell her more about him. But he sidesteps the question. She asks him directly. “How is it that you went from living in the neighborhood in which you lived, to all casual like, just owning your own bank?” Without telling her anything at all, he asks her if she has seen the movie Trading Places. And then tells her that in the house he grew up in, that he didn’t invite her into, at this moment lives, lives the really owner of the bank, that he traded places with him and he is playing Victor the poor guy, and he, himself is playing Victor the millionaire. Adela realizes that this entire thing is just a joke and laughs. She says she is serious, but instead of answering, he turns the tables and asks her how she went from driving cars for apps (I.e. Uber, Lyft) in Ciudad Jimenez to driving a sports car that is the current model year, here in the city, and what surprises him the most is how she managed to be living in her boss’s house. Adela answers, I don’t mind that you are possessive of me or jealous of me, but now you have changed the subject. They have a cute toast and end scene.
Back in Miami, we are treated to Miguel once again hooking up with Karina, the Russian (I think by last count this was hook-up #3 with her) , but this time through what appears to be a camera lens, because we see the focusing circle as well as hear the sound of the shutter. And the interest in the scene, at least for me falls flat, when we realize that it is our favorite neighborhood voyeur and his side kick taking pictures from a boat in the harbor of Miguel and Karina doing the deed. Now why she has to be plastered against the window for this to happen, I have no idea. But it sure makes for a fun show for the two in the boat. Although, Toledo has Jeremias actually taking the photos with the zoom opportunity. Jeremias says, “well, I guess Garza didn’t come to Miami for Santamarina after all.” To which Toledo answers, “oh Jeremias, of course he came for that, this is just a recreational stop.” He tells him that the photos will end up being useful in the future, just wait, and that a scorned woman , is willing to betray for jealousy. This makes me wonder if Miguel was such a man whore when he was with Aysa, or this is a newer condition of his grief? Jeremias is a little less optimistic as to the future of the pictures and says that if that doesn’t work, at least the pictures are good.
Chisca and Adri are putting to use the stuff that Jimena supplied them, commenting on the quality of the product, and how superior it is to the junk that Adri was getting from the guy in the street. To the point where Chisca coughs on the product and Adri, despite saying gross, did not hesitate to snort it up her nose. Adri hits it on the head when she comments on how Miguel thinks he has Chisca controlled and the person supplying her the stuff is one and the same as the chick…ok, one of the chicks…he is doing. Chisca says, “what can I say, I’m the best.” And riddle me this…is Adri putting up with Chisca’s crap because she has a thing for her? Cause planting a kissing on her, high or not, seems a little telling.
The next scene finds Kenia and Jorge together…saw that one coming after their, not so graceful exit from the office together, entering a nightclub. Jorge is nervous and Kenia is telling him to trust her. He says he does but that she knows he doesn’t like places like that, that they are too loud. At which point Kenia says, look what I brought you, and busts out a pair of ear plugs for good ol Jorge. She tells him to put them in, and come out to dance. They start dancing, and Kenia gets close for a kiss, but Jorge just looks at her like a deer in the headlights.
She tells him that she knew he would like it, and he says that he can’t hear her. Then, realizing that he couldn’t hear what she was saying, she tells him how much she likes him. He thinks she is talking about the music cause he is only catching parts of it, so she goes with it. Then she asks him if he has ever been with a woman…in the Miguel sense, been with, and he hears all of that. Sometimes it seems like he pretends to hear, not hear, as a defense mechanism. Then Kenia goes on, and asks if he wants her to be his first. This scares Jorge and he runs from the club.
Back in Miami, Miguel is making a visit to the dealership. Santamarina approaches him, and introduces himself. Miguel gives his name, and Santi asks him if they know each other, the look on his face saying that Miguel strikes him as familiar. Miguel tells him that he, himself knows Santi, but that Santi doesn’t know him, but if he wants to know more about Ecogreen that they go to the office. They head directly there and start talking. After various polite interchanges, Miguel begins with, “I would have preferred for use to have never met, but it was inevitable. Or to be more clear, you made it inevitable according to the comments made to me by our friend Edgar, and now that you have seen my face, there is no going back now.” Santamarina then tries to explain himself. “Look, I will tell you the same thing I told Edgar. I don’t have anything against you or him, or the company, or anyone, but if they are coming from the IRS to threaten me and my company, I mean, you are a business man like me, I imagine you understand.” Miguel, in his calm, I am not about to twist your arm with what I know, voice, says…”of course, I understand completely, in your place I would have feared the worst. But I am worried about your wife, she is a devout woman, always helping charities…it would be a shame for her to find out that her husband secretly meets with his friends every Thursday in a hotel room, to dress up as women and play with young men.” We get a flashback to the episode in question and see Santi remembering being threatened to become the CEO or else. He puts two and two together, recognizing his voice and calls him a desgraciado or in this case I take it more in line with Son of a B. Miguel goes on, “I know everything about your life, including that the money you are managing is from your wife’s family. I have so much information that I could use against you. But the truth is…I’d rather have you on my side. If you stay there, I promise you won’t have anything to worry about.” Outside of the office we hear a woman’s voice telling someone that he cannot enter. And in enters our sight seeing friend Toledo, telling the two men present that the three of them have business pending. Santi looks and Toledo then Miguel, Miguel fixes Toledo with a knowing look and that is finally the end of this episode.
Well my friends, on checking the word count for today, it is nearly double the norm. This episode was too meaty, so my apologies, either it took more words to describe or my opinions are becoming too long. Either way, thank you for reading and bearing with me through this Friday night episode. It is always a pleasure. Happy reading and happy weekend. See you next week.
