El Dragón #40, 11/26/19: Murder she wrote

In the hospital room Adela flatlines. Miguel begins CPR and calls the nurse. Crash cart arrives and the doctor uses the defibrillator several times with no response from Adela. Finally, Miguel gets in there and pounds her chest and her heartbeat returns. The doctor says, “A precordial thump. I haven’t seen that one done in a very long time.”  Miguel smiles.

Edna argues with her boss about investigating Miguel’s business to find out who was the culprit who bombed the place. She wants to confiscate the computers. Her boss says that she is not to investigate the victim, she is to found out who is to blame for this.

Flaco is able to get some video of the man who delivered the bomb. He shows it to Jimena who says she does not recognize him. She says she noticed his uniform mostly. He turns and shows it to Trejo who asks, “Do you have a better image?” Flaco says he does not. Flaco also asks Jimena (who really looks quite nervous) if she remembers the man’s height. All she can say is, “He’s a little bit taller than me.” Flaco turns to Kenia and says, “I have to go now. I have to get some facial recognition software.” He says he will leave in a taxi and doesn’t need a ride. Kenia says she wants to visit Jorge. Jimena gets a notification on her phone, looks at it nervously and then says she has to leave too.

Edna’s boss is on the phone with Duarte. He’s telling Duarte how insistent Edna is in trying to get orders from the judge.

At the hospital, Adela awakens and Miguel says, “thank you” to her. “Thank you?” “Yes, thank you for being alive” says Miguel. “I heard you,” says Adela. “Is it true that you love me?” Miguel looks at her lovingly and says, “yes.” “But we can talk about that later. Right now, I just want you to recover.” A few minutes later, as Adela is resting, he starts to leave. She says, “Are you leaving? Why?” He tells her that he is going to get something to eat and wants her to rest. But she says she has something to tell him, something that she was going to tell him before the explosion. He tries to put her off, but she asks him to listen. She asks if he knows “El  Gato.” She tells him that this man told her something horrible, that he was the one who murdered his parents courtesy of ePIGmenio Moncada. Miguel looks shaken and tells her that he doesn’t want her to speak to that man again because it is too dangerous.

Meanwhile, “El Gato” comes around outside the building where Miguel’s office was and wants to know what happened and if everyone was alright. The police officer gets suspicious and wants to know why he is so interested. El Gato says it’s because he used to see a young woman there who would give him food. The officer finally tells him she was taken to the University Hospital.

During his taxi ride, Flaco is texting someone.

Trejo drives to a building that says “Gin Gin” on it and a valet takes the car.

Kenia gets into another taxi.

Back at the hospital, Victor enters Adela’s room. Before she opens her eyes, she says “Miguel”, but it’s Victor and you can tell he didn’t like it. He tells Adela he passed Miguel on the way out. He tells her that he was there all night worried. Then he tells her that he wants her to quit her job and go far away from Miguel. She had something to say too, but then changes her mind and tells Victor, “Why don’t we talk about that later, after I get out of here.”

Someone wearing a coat and gloved hands places an envelope inside of a locker.

Later we see Gary coming to the locker and taking the envelope.

Miguel is on the phone leaving a message for Edna, “La procuradora.”  [Found out this term in Mexico means something like a District Attorney or Prosecuting Attorney. I was confused with this word sounding so much like “procurement” a term used in business where I work meaning having to do with purchasing.] As he gets off the phone, Jimena comes trouncing up. She asks how everything is and he asks her how she slept. She asks about Adela and then tells him that she is prepared to accept their “no strings attached” relationship but is definitely not going to play second fiddle to Adela! Miguel tells her that he is not going to discuss this with her now and has an appointment to meet Edna the district attorney.

Miguel meets with Edna who wants all kinds of information that Miguel is not willing to give her. She threatens to get an order to search his offices if he does not cooperate. She also tells him she is going to interview all his employees and if he has nothing to hide, then he has nothing to worry about. Miguel tells her, “Do whatever you want.” Then he gets up to leave.

Now for our treat! We find Chisca at the gym working out and she encounters her friend Adri is none to happy to see her. Chisca is not smart enough to figure out why Adri wants nothing to do with her. Adri tells Chisca that the only time Chisca wants her friendship is when she is bored or needs her for something and she’s tired of it. She also admits to Chisca that she was the one who told Angel that she went to Madrid. “And you know what Chisca? You think that the whole world revolves around you and I’m tired of it!”

Next, we see Gary, who took the envelope from the locker coming to Edna’s office to show her the picture of the man who delivered the bomb package. She asks if she can interrogate him, but he says that this man is dead now, shot to death.

At the hospital in the hallway, Miguel gives instructions to Ishiro and Peligros to go pick up all the office documents and everything they can find before Edna can get a court order to have the premises searched. He instructs them to take everything back to his home until he can organize another office.

Dora gets a phone call with instructions to meet someone somewhere. She picks up her things and out in an open area, meets with ePIGmenio. He says he knows her secrets, the one about Lamberto being the one who had his own son murdered. He threatens to tell the world about it because he has the evidence to prove it if she does not cooperate with him. But she tells him she is not going to guarantee anything.

Kenia visits Jorge and he is lying in bed still traumatized. She asks if he wants to talk about it and says it’s normal to have this kind of reaction when there is an explosion. He feels like he has just been a burden to everyone.

Well the doctor says that Adela is doing very well. Miguel is quite happy to hear this news. Adela looks at Miguel and says, “Are you staying or leaving?” Miguel says, “I’m staying here till you feel better.” Adela then says, “In that case, I’m going to pretend that I’m not recovering.” She laughs. Then Miguel says he has to go on a business trip to put some distance between him and this situation. She asks if he wants to put distance between themselves and adds, “You know when you put your mask on, I hate you. But when you take off that mask, I love you.”

Edna meets with what appears to be the coroner who has investigated the deaths. He found that several deaths, including the deliveryman, were all shot the same way, by the same person.

Miguel tells Dora what Adela told him regarding “El Gato’s” information. Chisca overhears and wants ePIGmenio shot dead.

Gary brings Edna more information about someone else who was found dead, another drug trafficker who was an expert in explosives. Later that evening, Edna’s husband tried to get her to relax. Finally she leaves her desk and he proceeds to take pictures of her paperwork and documents.

Ishiro and Peligros clean out the offices of everything that could incriminate the business. They get into an elevator and nearly get caught. Peligros pretends he doesn’t know where he is and lost his keys. Ishiro is on top of the elevator with all their stuff they had gathered.

At home, Dora pours herself a whiskey as she remembers Lamberto admitting to her that he was the one who had his son murdered. She remembers that she promised to keep his secret and that as his wife, she must keep his secret and promises to take that to her grave.

Edna finally gets her court order from the judge to have Miguel’s offices searched. But the search comes up empty. The investigators say that there is nothing there to find. Edna is angry and says Miguel sure likes playing with fire. “And me, I love playing with fire too” says Edna.

Carlos Duarte and ePIGmenio argue in Duarte’s office about Miguel Garza. Pig says he should have murdered him when he had the chance. Pig reminds Duarte that Edna the district attorney is on his heels right now. Carlos says that Edna could find out something that incriminates him from Miguel, so he is worried. They both agree this Edna is going to be a problem for them.

Edna goes and interviews all of Miguel’s remaining employees from the office. They aren’t giving her any information as Miguel instructed earlier on the phone. Loved Ishiro’s deadpan face through it all.

Victor goes to visit Adela and gives her a kiss on the forehead. She answers in her sleep when Victor asks how she is feeling by saying, “Thank you Miguel.”

Dora continues to reminisce about how Lamberto died and her promise to him. Peligros walks up to her and asks if she needs a ride somewhere. Then she asks him, “What would you do if someone somewhere became a threat to you?” Peligros answers, “I would kill him.” Dora says, “You wouldn’t have to think about it?” Peligros answers, “That’s because there is nothing to think about.” Then Dora walks away happy with the answer.

Jorge asks Kenia to run away with him and get married. By the look on her face, she is not in agreement with this idea.

Claudia brings Hector information about the kind of gun used to murder the bomb delivery guy and someone else. It was also the same gun used to kill his sister.

Dora goes to Adela’s hospital room where Adela is sleeping. Dora grabs a pillow and puts it over Adela’s face in attempt to smother her to death.

Cynthia: Here we go! Increasing the Body Count.

Edna: you're on borrowed time little girl.

Cynthia is that YOU? Hey girl, nice job. Thanks

Best scene of the night: Adrianna in the gym telling Chiscass she is sick of her shit and aint gonna take it anymore----Goodbye ya screwed up selfish beyotch. And the "I think I just saw a space alien" look on piece of sheet Chiscass' face.

OK I get it writers, we do not know which one of Miguel's NON family members are plotting against him along with half of Mexico. WE don't care, drop it, or tell us who it is.

I somehow all along thought I didn't like Dora the Explora, she confirmed it last night. Bring back her boyfriend, the one who tied her to a table on their last 'date'.

Poor Mr. Migster is so conflicted now with Aw Heck's come to Jesus speech and Adela just getting out of IC. I'm waiting for Bugs Bunny's little shoulder Angel and Devil to appear on his.

Steve, I am not so sure about your prediction on Edna. Everybody seems to believe she is a little tigress-pitbull mix and fears her. ePig even told Duarte that 'Edna has bigger balls than you.' I think the cat and mouse with Edna and Miguel will be fun, like the old Spy vs Spy thing.

So Jorge wants to get married, now that (ONCE) he is no longer a virgin? Oh Crap. Kenia will now be running and hiding from 'them' AND Jorge.

Thanks for the recap, Cynthia. :)

That's the third time Miguel has used some sort of "medical technique" to help someone out medically, first Hector, then Peligros and now Adela. I would like to hear him explain in a scene where he got that kind of training. Instead of the doctor being outraged that Miguel intervened and performed a precordial thump on Adela, he was impressed. I doubt that would be a doctor's reaction in real life lol. I've seen the precocial thump done on Grey's Anatomy.

Once in a while, Jimena shows a burst of self-esteem with Miguel. She tells him directly she won't be second best to Adela so he best decide. If she wasn't so manipulative and sneaky, I'd have more sympathy and be on her side. She already knows she's second, or even third best to him.

Oh Dora. Such a cold and most of all stupid decision she's made to eliminate, of all people, Adela? She's panicking and not thinking right. Adela knows nothing more than what she's already told Miguel. The only real threat to her dirty secret is obviously Epig. I actually thought for a moment when Peligros advised her hypothetically about eliminating a threat that she was going to be badass and go after Epigmenio. That would be awesome. It never crossed my mind she'd go after Adela. That's unforgivable. I was actually shocked. I hope she comes to her senses tonight or I'm done with her.

Two hour episodes of El Dragon today and Friday - from 9 to 11. Back to the regular time slot on Monday.

Oops, forgot to sign my post.

Yep, Dora has made it onto my 'HATE' list, which is actually not much of an accomplishment.

So now we have a turning point in our Victory - Adela mystery. It is already a forgone conclusion that there is something about her he is interested in, and based on her personality and looks that is QED. But is it simply that and our suspicions about his ulterior motives are just that, only suspicions?

Now after she murmurs that dreaded word 'Miguel', dreamily to Vic, he should have the Jimenema syndrome, also known as second fiddle. So if he continues pursuing Adela does that mean that he really does have some Not Val style sinister plot?

Thanks, Cynthia. Sly title and fine recap.

Dora, really? Someone (sorry, forgot who) speculated that Dora may have deliberately not gotten psych help for Jorge to protect her husband's secret. After last night, I wouldn't put anything past Dora. Even if she changes her mind and stops herself from smothering Adela, I'm done with her.

I doubt that would be a doctor's reaction in real life lol.

Anon@9:13, Yep, in real life the doc would've been ticked that a mere visitor showed him up in front of his medical team.

Vic seems (naturally) annoyed at the "Mig, Mig, Mig, Mig, Mig" coming out of Adela, but not angry. I'm still thinking he's got an ulterior motive for hanging around her.

The mole seems to be savvy, only making the investigators think she/he is giving them something valuable when so far the information is useless against Mig.

Thanks, Cynthia! Excellent racap!

I'm still trying to get over the "Cuna" final, so I don't have much to add.

Kirby, "Best scene of the night: Adrianna in the gym telling Chiscass she is sick of her shit and aint gonna take it anymore----Goodbye ya screwed up selfish beyotch. And the "I think I just saw a space alien" look on piece of sheet Chiscass' face." ITA!! Hip, hip, HOORAY! for Adriana.

Backy, "Oh Dora. Such a cold and most of all stupid decision she's made to eliminate, of all people, Adela? She's panicking and not thinking right. Adela knows nothing more than what she's already told Miguel. The only real threat to her dirty secret is obviously Epig. I actually thought for a moment when Peligros advised her hypothetically about eliminating a threat that she was going to be badass and go after Epigmenio." You read my mind! I'm hoping that she is only visualizing what she would like to do to Adela and snap out of it tonight.

Oops, that should be Becky, not "Backy," SORRY!

Cynthia--I watched this before Cuna, but had a hard time following the dialog, although I got the jist of everything. Well, with the exception of Adri and Chisca. That I got, totally. Brilliantly done. Thanks for all the clarifying.

So Peligros and Ishiro filled a couple of small "carry-ons" with EVERYTHING that might incriminate Miguel? That was all? Random sheets of paper? How did Peligros & Ishi know what to take and what to leave....(me thinking too hard) - did the computers melt? In that fire, ALL the papers should have been cinders. Cute scene of Ishi standing ontop of the elevator (now where have I seen that before - and often)? Cuter still was the deadpan interview with Edna. There's no comic relief in this tale, but Ishi comes close.

Agree, Dora wasn't thinking beyone her nose. She's trying to protect herself, not the secret from getting out. However, slaughtering the ePig wouldn't have done it. That would have started an all-out war.

One, maybe, clue. Flaco needed to find some face recognition software. OK. Then an envelope with a perp's face is placed in the locker for the FBI. Tada! Connection? I think so.

Thanks for your comments everyone.

Kirby, yes indeed it is me! I just don't find much time to comment during the week. Ever since I got my new job and I'm supervising a staff of 10, I'm busy from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day with not much time for breaks. Today I am off though. Anyway, will Dora get interrupted or will she suddenly change her mind with an attack of conscience?

Becky, I used to watch Grey's Anatomy too. I don't remember that particular technique.

I'm still trying to figure out Victor. Who is he really working for? Does anyone think he is the mole?

Anita: Perhaps a lot of stuff was saved to the server and the server is taken down already by Flaco. So all there would be left would be some minor stuff. They may have taken all hard drives from any computers that were still in tact. We just don't know where the server is located or if there is a backup server for emergencies. I haven't heard Edna talk about the servers, but I'm kind of techy and know a lot of this stuff.

Anita: Dora is determined to keep that dirty little secret by any means necessary. Now you & I know secrets have a habit of GETTING OUT one way or another.

Cynthia: I think Victor is the mole, but wouldn't be surprised if Jimena is the mole either. Victor is obsessed with Adela (if she doesn't get whacked tonight).

RGV Chick: Glad to see this Telenovela doing 2 HRS.....

Cynthia--Kudos on your new responsibilities. Those are long hours, though.

It's just that I didn't SEE any computers. I think Miguel was concerned about the information on the computers and Flaco said not to worry or sth like that. Mostly what was left for us to see were dangling wires and HVAC conduits. The sprinklers should have started working or first responders getting water up to put out the blaze, but the floor (and those papers) were dry. Ah well, no need to overthink. Go with the flow--or be the flow.

Victor is a conundrum. I think writing him that way is intentional. There aren't really any other secrets from us except now the mole.

Anita, thank you. I am enjoying this job a lot more than my old one. There is lots to do and the day goes by very quickly. I have a good staff and the higher level managers I report to are easy to work with and tell me that I'm doing a great job.

I didn't notice computers either in the scene. But they could have been knocked over on the floor. All they really needed to get are the hard drives inside the computers. Even with damaged computers, you can still get the information out of the hard drive because the hard drive has everything, you can even get stuff that was erased off a hard drive cuz it never really goes away. I just wonder where their emergency server is. But I am overthinking, aren't I? :)

Cynthia: they should hire you as the writer.

Congratulations on your new position, Cynthia ! Whenever I see your name here, I think of all those oranges you have and how expensive they are here in the northeast !

I appreciate any help with the tech aspects of these shows ( or real life because I am clueless).

Cynthia..Anita...I didn't pay any real attention to the computers, but a trend I have noticed lately in TNs etc. is most of the people are using laptops rather than a tower under the desk and monitor and keyboard on the desktop.

I can not remember what if anything I have seen in Dragon, but DO remember thinking recently sometime "Sheezo don't these strokes have any REAL computers?" Probably not that there is any real advantage, short of a better keyboard and larger screen, but 'real' computers seem more like part of the infrastructure, rather than something you brought to work, and it leaves when you do, like personal property.

Kirby—I bet some of the employees had both. Muggy, for instance was shown with a monitor on his desk and (presumably) a keyboard, but he did take a laptop when “traveling.”

Kirby, laptops are good at work for taking to meetings and things like that. You can log in wherever you are at and bring your presentation with you. But most people at their workplaces have a regular computer with two monitors and sometimes three monitors, so you can look at a lot of information all at once from different online systems and of course have an Excel spreadsheet up. The TNs may be using laptops because they are much easier to setup. But most work places do not use laptops for the real work. Most of us too, use large monitors with 21 inch screens at least. We have to save our eyes you know! :)

BTW at the VERY beginning of tonight's episode I expect somebody, anybody to go in and stop Dora Creel.

Well, we shall see if Dora suddenly changes her mind or if someone interrupts her.

Notice: Anita will be covering Naga and Miguel’s intrigues tonight. It wasn’t 2 hours when I volunteered. I don’t write so fast (or type or edit). I will get the first hour up before bed. Second hour will be done tomorrow. I may put up separate headers.

What a way to start the evening....almohadacide or a Miggy intervention. I don’t think Dora will have a bit of remorse unless someone interrupts. She’s really going at it with all her anger and strength. She has to keep that secret from breathing out. She should have gone after El Gato first, it seems to me. Hmmm. Maybe a moment of clarity will hit her. OTOH, we know what a scrapper Adela is. Except that she’s in a weakened state, she should be able to take on Dora.

Got a new typo earlier: Muggy instead of Miggy. Somehow it fits.

Anita, I was planning fin the same, posting under different headers, especially because each will probably be a different episode.

Esther--I'm with you there.

It was a long and complicated 2 hours. I'm not even halfway through the 1st hour. Hang in everyone.
