AnonFri, first, really appreciate your smooth, detailed recaps. You are so generous with your time, effort, and spirit in keeping our small yet enthusiastic patio going!

And special thanks for clarifying the Asu/Hakki scene from last week.

THURSDAY

[scenes out of order]

Galip to Emir, and Asu to Emir, you need to do more. Kemal and Nihan are strong.

Tufan comes to Kemal's office to warn him that Galip is obsessed with him, Kemal better be careful.

Looking at Tufan, Kemal flashes on the pic of Nursen's missing son that Nursen gave him. Kemal asks: "Tufan, are your parents alive?"

Offended by the personal questions, Tufan says he never knew them, and does not know the circumstances of their death. Then how do you know they are dead? "Galip told me."

Kemal shows Tufan the pic of him as a boy. Tufan thinks Kemal stole it from his house. "No, your mother gave it to me. She is alive! Come on, I'll take you to her." Tufan isn't buying it.

Mother and son reunion, call of the blood [good acting by the Tufan actor going from stunned disbelief to being overcome with emotion]. Kemal and Zehir are waiting outside, sentimental Zehir tears up. Kemal has a satisfied smile.

Tufan comes out of his mother's house. He'll be grateful to Kemal forever. Kemal: "I know you will make Galip pay." Tufan has 11 missed calls from Asu. Tufan calls Asu and says "Kemal brought me to my mother." An angry Tufan accuses Asu and Hakki of lying to him. Asu denies that they knew anything about this.

[you were right, Nina] there's Efsane digging in drawers and garbage and comes up with Zeynep's two pregnancy tests. Efsane reports to Vildan.

The Sezins are gathered at Nihan's hospital bedside. The rabid press is outside. Nihan calls Leyla and asks for something. We later see Leyla has brought Nihan a mic. Nihan goes to the window and makes a strong speech, chewing them out for sexism in giving Emir a break with his infidelities and their general sleaziness in preying on her.

Meanwhile, Kemal and Emir's trip down the mine is approaching. Kemal tells Emir he wants it to be just the two of them; after all, Kemal has a technical background in mine engineering.

At a seaside cafe, the three siblings drink tea. Kemal is talking about destiny, and it all sounds rather ominous. Kemal gives Zeynep the keys to his house case she needs to escape [and has put his house in her name? Isn't Leyla living there?]. And, Kemal deposited money in their bank accounts "in case something happens to me."

Kemal asks that Zeynep and Tariq always support each other. Tariq is a jerk, but ultimately Tariq and Zeynep share a nice hug.

Zeynep is alarmed: "what's up, Kemal?" "I've never felt better....this is the road I've chosen, for good or bad." Zeynep: "are you saying goodbye?" Kemal replies: "not yet. I've got something big planned for that!"

In his car, Kemal says to himself: "now I'm ready to confront Emir."

Alien ring tone to ETERNO face. Galip is calling. Emir doesn't answer. Galip finds a bullet on his desk. Galip gets panicky, calling around looking for Emir. Galip tells Vildan: "I can't locate Emir, and I think Kemal's involved."

No one can locate Kemal either. We end with Nihan having a bad feeling.

And so we seem set up for the macho face-off inside the mine. Winner gets Nihan? I'm with what you said AnonFri, ya basta, Nihan needs cut Ozan off and let him take his lumps.

So we now know Tufan is Nursen's son, but I'm not clear on who raised him and that whole backstory. I'm confident in our writers though, they may drop threads but they don't seem to forget the teaser bread crumbs they've left along the way.

Thank you so much for the recaps, Clara and AnonFri. Thanks to the time change, I am now able to watch bits and pieces of this; and I can honestly say that I had no trouble stepping in and knowing exactly what is going on. My hat's off to both of you (and Nina, of course) for keeping this wonderful little patio going.

About kemal? And why would he tell tufan his parents died? Probly to keep him there with him. He know some stuff

As for those crumbs, well they can be really tasty, the ones they're tossing us.

Thank you Clara for yesterday’s review! Nina, your comment about Emir keeping it in the family was funny!

If Kemal really left the deed to Zeynep, Leyla would probably be evicted from there the moment Emir dictates it.

I’ve realized that everyone treats Nihan as commodity or a possession (except for Leyla and Yasemin). Nihan’s family essentially sold her to Emir for Ozan’s freedom and financial help, then you have Asu and Hakki who used Nihan as a tool for revenge against Emir. On top of that there’s Zeynep who would rather have Nihan spend her life with Emir just so that she can get easy access to him as his mistress, and of course Asu’s other motive, where Nihan should remain with Emir so that Kemal can remain free. Nihan’s happiness would lead to most of these characters being unhappy, and they all toy around with her for their benefit, regardless of what she wants. She’s a perpetual victim and can’t seem to break out of that cycle.

Now there’s the macho face off in the mine. Winner take all? I’ve noticed Kemal sometimes speaks of Nihan in a possessive manner too. It could be a reaction to Emir’s arrogant possessiveness, but it catches my attention whenever Kemal states that Nihan belongs to him. In at least two occasions he’s said that in her presence, and though Nihan seems to just go along with it, she actually hasn’t been very ecstatic about it- not sure if because it slightly reminds her of Emir, or because the words feel a little strong and out of place? Maybe for Nihan to truly end up happily ever after with Kemal, she has to fully assert her independence first and stop being subjected to everyone else’s whim.

Regarding Tufan, it’s still confusing how Galip had control over him yet never noticed he was conspiring with Hakki and Asu at some point back. I’m glad Nursen got her son back, but is she really safe? Also it had to be Hakki and Asu who planted the bullet in Galip’s office, in the same manner Hussein found a bullet in his destroyed barbershop. Do they realize that they put Kemal at risk of being killed by Galip in one shot?

Hopefully we get some answers tonight. It seems like a good episode is coming! Rgv chick, hopefully enjoy it as much as we do.

Tonight's episode was very interesting
Tho I don't know what the heck was said by These two fire brands, but it looked Very interesting. And then the fangs Came out. And Emir managed to keep his hard hat on while kemal just pummeled him.

Kemal watches Emir arrive. Emir asks him if this deafening silence is on purpose.
Kemal takes out flashlights and head gear from his trunk. Kemal says it’s for security, and Emir asks if he should be worried for his safety. Emir wants Kemal to stop being mysterious and to just get on with it. Kemal tells him today they will both go deeper than they ever have before. They start to descend.

Efsame opens the door for Vildan and hands over the pregnancy tests to her. In the living room, Vildan confronts Sema and wants to know whose pregnancy tests those belong to, because she knows heyre not Zeynep’s. Sema plays dumb but when Vildan says she will tell her mother that she’s pregnant, Sema spills the beans.

Kemal and Emir are in the mine. Emir actually looked a little worried and tells Kemal he feels it’s not necessary to go any further. Kemal asks him if he’s scared, because this is the only place where they can go and talk without being heard. As they keep going, Kemal tells him this mine has been here for ten years. Emir cuts to the chase and brings up Nihan. Kemal says does love her. Emir says he wants to know why exactly they are in the mine, if it isn’t to speak about Nihan? Kemal says that Nihan has been fighting each day for her life, but Emir says that he has done anything for her, and would be willing to do many bad things including killing. “What are you capable of doing for live?” He asks Kemal. “I’m capable of silence. I’m capable of many things, including running away for her safety” Kemal says.
“I bought Nihan, I bought her whole life. If I want to, I can end it whenever I want” Emir gloats. Kemal hits Emir and they start to fight, but Emir eventually pulls out a gun. “This is my way of loving: let’s end his,” Emir says. The gun goes off but Kemal disarms him and Emir falls. The mine starts to collapse.

Galip is on his way to the mine. He’s pressuring the driver to get there faster.

Kemal is getting up and Emir is trapped under the debris. Kemal says “I warned you that anything can happen here.” Emir responds “They’ll find me anyway. I should have known this was part of your plan” and he coughs. He’s acknowledging that he traded places with Kemal at that moment: he’s going to die like a miner, and Kemal will take his place. Emir yells and struggles to try and get out. Kemal shows up with a shovel, but Emir repeatedly demands him to not help him. Kemal starts shoveling anyway, despite Emirs taunting that he won’t be able to save Nihan. Kemal says “I’ll save her from you, and you won’t be able to do anything about that.” Emir recognizes him as a legendary enemy. Eventually Kemal is able to remove the beams. He grabs Emir’s hand and pulls him out.
 

Galip is outside and demands to know where the men are. He decided they will enter the mine too. Onder calls him to ask if he knows where Emir and Kemal are. Galip tells him they’re in the mine and he’s sending someone in and when he hangs up he sees a dirty Emir walk out. “He saved my life,” he tells Galip. “I’ll kill you either way,” he tells Kemal. “I’ll save her either way,” Kemal responds. Emir tells his father that Kemal is a very dangerous enemy because he’s proven that he’s not afraid of him. Galip tells Emir they should leave.

A week later:

Vildan plays with Zeynep saying that she needs to take care of herself for the baby. She shouldn’t wear high heels because she needs to be comfortable so that her grandson can be comfortable. In the living room are two nurses. Zeynep asks what they will do to her. Vildan says they will frequently be testing Zeynep and sending reports to the Dr so that they can be assured that her grandson will be ok.

Ozan asks to speak to Vildan in private. He says he knows what she’s trying to do to Zeynep. Vildan says that once he gets the results he will see that his wife has been lying this whole time. Ozan asks why she would lie to him. He doesn’t believe Vildan. Once the testing is done, the male nurse says they can expect the results tomorrow. Zeynep looks a little worried and asks Ozan if they can leave now. He follows her out.

Leyla escorts Nihan out of the hospital room. Emir finds them in the hallway and wants to know where they’re going. Nihan says she is going to say goodbye to her psychologist. Emir offers to go with her, but Nihan doesn’t want to. Leyla comments that it seems like Emir is preparing for war because he has an armada in the hospital. When they’re out of earshot, Emir asks the bodyguard if all of the exits are secured. The bodyguard affirms.

At the elevator, Leyla asks Nihan if she’s ready. They’re trying to escape and they eventually go up the stairs to the roof. Nihan finds Kemal there and hugs him. He tells her she won’t be worried anymore, he’s going to take care of her from now on. He asks her again why did she try to kill herself, Nihan tells him that she didn’t even think about it. Kemal says she’s coming with him, and she couldn’t believe him. When she holds onto his hand, she notices his tattoo. Kemal says they are ready to escape: he has a helicopter. Nihan asks if he’s demented first, hen asks about her brother. Kemal tells her that Ozan will be Ok.

Zehir is driving Ozan and Zeynep somewhere. He asks them if they are ok back there, to which Ozan unenthusiastically responds that everything is alright. Zeynep looked very annoyed.

Nihan and Kemal run to the helicopter. Leyla watches them go. The helicopter takes off and she waves bye to them. Kemal tells Nihan not to worry, he’s taken care of anything. Nihan asks if Ozan is ok with what heyre doings. Kemal tells her that it wasn’t easy to convince him, but he swore to do it for her life and Zeynep’s life. He flashes back to when Ozan was having a panic attack about being responsible for Nihan’s suicide attempt. Kemal convinces him to turn himself in, but offered him a good lawyer. He tells him to do it for Nihan and Zeynep, and that he should tell Zeynep what’s happening because she’s his wife. At that moment Zeynep appears and tells Kemal that she knows what happened. Kemal looks at her and tells her that Ozan will hand himself over to the police. She asks Kemal if this is happening so that he and Nihan can be free to be together. He affirms and tells them they can think about their choice, but if they accept they must do everything exactly as he tells them. In the present, Kemal tells Nihan that Zehir will take Ozan to the lawyer, but in the meantime he and Zeynep will be hidden somewhere. Nihan asks to

Emir is in Nihan’s room, pacing around. He’s wondering where Nihan is. The psychologist shows up and asks if he’s looking for Nihan. Emir asks her if Leyla and Nihan weren’t just with her. She says no and he starts to flip out.
 

Zehir is still driving Ozan and Zeynep to the safety nest. Zeynep tells Ozan to relax. Ozan tells her that he’s doing this for their son, and rests his head on her lap. Zeynep thinks back to earlier that day, when she was subjected to the testing. After speaking to Vildan, they walked out and Zeynep told Ozan that it was time to speak to Kemal. He tells her that he’s afraid, but Zeynep tells him that she will not have this child unless he hands himself over to the police because she doesn’t want her son to have a cowardly father. Ozan says that he likely won’t have a trial and could be sentenced for a while. Zeynep says that she knows and asks him to decide now. She calls Kemal and gets into agreement over what they will do. Vildan appears after the call ends, asking if she’s feeling unwell. Zeynep says she’s fine, and Vildan tells them not to come back late. In the present, Zeynep tells Ozan that everything will be ok. Ozan tells her that his parents and Emir will be furious to find out what happened. Zeynep says it’s ok, and that she wishes she had known that Emir planned everything from the day he set Ozan up. She adds “Your parents will be very angry about this, but Emir will be severely weakened too.”

The security guy tells Emir that Nihan escaped by helicopter. He calls Kemal and remembers having seen the helicopter earlier. He asks the security guy where the helipad is, and is taken there. He wants them to find Leyla.

Emir is soon seen in the hospital’s security room with two other men. One of them is showing him the footage of Leyla and Nihan earlier that day. Emir asks about the footage in Nihan’s room, and the guy says that the camera had not been working since the day before. Emir can’t believe this is happening.

Emir calls Vildan to report that her daughter escaped. She reports this to Onder, who doesn’t believe it. He calls Ozan to see if she’s with him, but there was no answer. Onder calls Nihan and she doesn’t answer either. Vildan is worried for both of her children.

Emir demands that the security team find Kemal right now: he doesn’t want them to hurt Nihan but they can do whatever they want to Kemal. Alien spaceship phone call comes in and Emir demands to know where the helicopter landed. The person on the line doesn’t know, and Emir can’t believe that it wasn’t documented.

Kemal is talking to Salih and thanks him. Salih tells him he didn’t do anything. He wishes them luck. Kemal hangs up and asks Nihan if she wants to speak to Ozan. Nihan says she would like to speak to him in private, so he tells her she will have to wait until they arrive at their destination. Nihan is smiling but does voice concern over the fact that Emir is likely looking for them already. Kemal says they will be far away from Turkey and he won’t find them.

So much for Ozan doing this for Nihan. He’s doing it for his nonexistent son! I’m not sure what zeynep’s angle is right now, but it seems like she’s going to play everyone. If she wants Emir in her hands, she needs him weakened, and it seems she’ll let Nihan and Kemal go off together, but I get the feeling that she will use that information to reel Emir in. It seems to easy for Nihan and Kemal to escape happily ever after now.

I wonder if Zeynep didn’t just get pregnant by Emir too. Though if she’s not pregnant at all, Ozan will forgive her because he’s that dumb. Or she can lie and say she miscarried. I don’t think Vildan will win this.

Worried about Leyla since she helped Nihan escape.

Also it could be Asu will discover where Kemal went. For some reason she seems to have more resources than Emir in that department.

AnonFri, I thought you were down there in the mine with the guys! Spooky. Your thoughtful Fri 5:01 pm comment about Nihan as an object fit right into their face-off. Kemal said "Nihan is not an object," and Emir insisted he could do whatever he wanted with her -- even kill her -- because he "bought" her.

And AnonFri, thanks for another super recap. You have a real knack for details and nuance/subtleties. Much appreciated!

Nina, the mine excursion was set up at a recent board meeting about their business project. I think Kemal said a new vein of gold had been discovered that they needed to inspect? But nothing was said about that. Plot-wise was a another chance for Kemal to show he is a superior being. He even said to Emir when saving him, "I'm not like you."

And it was a reminder of Kemal's heroism back during the mining accident in the mining town.

Emir is sharp enough to recognize Kemal as a formidable enemy. That was reinforced when Kemal saved his life.

I too have the sense Zeynep might be pregnant after all. Nina, "pucker seed," good one. Shallow observation from last night, Zeynep's shiny black hair is gorgeous.

Ozan, what can I say? Another good detail having him laying with his head in Zeynep's lap, like a child.

AnonFri, good point about Leyla's being at risk. Galip hates her, too. Another shallow observation: Galip is really scary mean looking when he is angry.

Felt bad for Nihan having to begin her adventure with Kemal having just gotten out of the hospital! She looked a little shaky. Of course, any time away from Emir is a plus, not to mention being able to spend some free time with Kemal.

Hope at least the lovebirds get a good chunk of happy time now outside Turkey.

Observations are perfection.

So Kemal was telling him to man up and do the right thing by nihan,zeynep and

Is it really to soon for them to have some simbilence of happiness before the dark puckerer takes it away? Hey something I notice about emir, he cant

Where did he aquire the allusion that he is to be feared by everyone? And yall Notice when he can't have his way he Actually throws a tantrum just like like a Spoiled brat. It seems that he and ozan are the children in this story.

O yeah I forgot to mention something about this, when Leyla brought the lil
Girl in to see nihan and emir told her
Who he was, she just stared at him,lol they should have sounded the crickets.
Lol, the look on her face said it all.
"What the hell mister, when pigs fly".
That was so funny. I Wonder if they laughed after that scene was over.

I hope this goes off without a hitch for a little while atleast. The need some joy, they been in Hell most of the time this show has been on. Its the holidays dogonnit this patio needs some joy. So does nihan & kemal.

Im confused....but admit i cant watch or read every epi or recap. Who is Asu's father. I thought the man ahead of the company was her uncle but she asked him if he loved her mom and if he will go see her.
