RGV Chick: How was your Thanksgiving holiday break ?

It was great, Steve. Hope yours was just as wonderful.

Looking forward to more snarktastic Andycaps and Judycaps :-)

Question : is my tv guide correct...does "Ringo" start tonight at 8 ?

Another question ... is "Ringo" worth carving out time to watch? Between hockey games, the holidaze, and HIJAS, I need to know.

SusanLynn: 7 central, which is really inconvenient for my aerobics classes. But the alternative on Univision may be La rosa de Guadalupe.

HIJAS #34 IT'S AN ILL WIND THAT BLOWS NOBODY GOOD

Part 1 Well, some folks seem to be thriving this evening, but most are struggling.

First the good news:

Soledad and Octavio seem to have lulled Mama Suegra into a happy mood, pretending that Sol is pregnant. Lights flash and armoire doors bang, Suegra's way of saying, "Great, I'm going to be a granny!"

And Mauricio, believing that Juana Inés is in love with him, has not only composed a sweet love song to her; he's performed it. At her hospital bedside. With some snot running down his nose, unfortunately. Rather ruined the moment for me. But Inés, being in a coma and all, was not bothered. And Juana Barbara was so impressed with his talents, she labeled him "un estuche de monerias" { man of many talents]

So All Good. And the rest? Pretty much All Bad.

Juan is totally dejected and the house is a mess. It's full of people and Maid Maria has evidently decamped to safety somewhere. Teresa and Fernando vow to take charge and clean things up and get busy, temporarily, on the dishes.

Barb is still bonding with Mauricio, noting that they have something in common. Bad Dads. Well, in her case, a stepdad, who mistreated her, disrespected her and tried to sexually abuse her when she was 14. Mauricio shares how he could never win his dad's esteem or respect. And both conclude that there's no point in looking for acceptance from those who hate us.

At that point, a clerk from the hospital comes in and demands 100 thousand pesos, paid immediately, for the intensive care costs that Inés has incurred. Otherwise, she'll be bounced out of the hospital, notwithstanding her coma.

Barb threatens to knock clerk's perfect teeth out; but Mauricio intervenes to say he'll pay the bill. He's saved from his job working for Dario, as well as some money from la Dolorosa. Whadda guy.

Sebastian and Juana Victoria are still sparring, and she's still refusing to tell him the real reason for the breakup. Later, when all are at the hotel, cleaning out the freezer, they squabble some more, leaving those around them perplexed and confused. Just a little tiff between brother and sister? Or something more?

Well,we know there's a whole lot more. But right now, no one's telling.

HIJAS #34 IT'S AN ILL WIND THAT BLOWS NOBODY GOOD

Part 2

Juan, still overcome, seems paralyzed as he inspects the ruin of his hotel. Fernando tries to lift his spirits, promising that the hotel will be even more beautiful, once they rebuild it with the insurance money. (You know, the insurance policy Blanca didn't renew-- choosing to abscond to Roma with that money and some more moola from Dario)

Sure enough, when Juan tries to call Blanca, her phone has been shut down. And when he calls the insurance agency, they tell him the policy wasn't renewed. Juan is apoplectic. I've been a loyal client for 20 some years, whaddya mean she didn't renew it! Seems trusting Juan made the check out to Blanca. After all, she was a family friend. He never dreamed she would do this to him.

And there's no help from Sebastian. He gave the money saved for building the spa to the movie director. And went into debt besides, to get money to purchase the land next door.

So they're bankrupt.

No love. No money. No how.

Estefania is miserable also. She calls Juana Victoria a couple of times to pour out the woes of her broken heart. Because she knew Vicky would understand. Indeed! Vicky feels sorry for herself, sorry for Steffi, and sorry for Sebastian who's like "el perro de dos tortas" ["dog with two sandwiches"... a person who can't decide between two attractive choices, so gets neither].

Man, this is depressing. Let's switch scenes and drop in on Dastardly Dario and Lovely Leonora. The latter is apologizing for being such a sad sack companion. Here Dario has been treating her like the Princess of Monaco and all she can do is worry about Señor Oropeza and son Sebastian back in Mazatlan.

I will say, I enjoyed seeing Leo all dolled up in a bright persimmon orange sheath dress and humongous pearls. MELY would probably object that the pink tones of her lipstick clashed with the color of her dress, but I'm inclined to be generous. Focusing on Leo kept my mind off Dario and his sad plaids. And his wretched plans. He's delighted that Blanca has screwed Juan out of his insurance policy. And Juan's son Sebastian deserve total ruin for breaking Princess Estefania's heart.

Well Dario advises "living in the moment" and hey, just for kicks, let's take the company plane and fly to Hollywood. We'll have dinner there in one of those restaurants where the stars always go.

Leonora doesn't look convinced. Seems that all she wants is to return to Mazatlan and check on her fellas.

HIJAS #34 IT'S AN ILL WIND THAT BLOWS NOBODY GOOD

Part 3

Well, what about Javier? He's an "estuche de monerias" as well, and Margarita starts laying a little charm on him, praising him for his maintenance skills (he's replacing broken window panes as she watches, enthralled)and then goes on to note how good-looking he is to boot. How is it that he never got married? He stonewalls and changes the subject.

Later on though, he's back to his old philosophical ways, reminding everybody that they must "accept reality" and move on. The gals, both young and old, all remind him that it's hard to move on when the hotel is in smithereens, they're out of work, no income, and no place to live other than Juan's house. And once Leonora gets back, Johnny bar the door! She's gonna boot us all out! For sure!

Okay, sez "Juana Jefe"Victoria--but for now, let's get a chore list organized and clean up this place. No reason for Dad's house to look like a pigsty.

We have some brief scenes: Raymundo (Barb's trainer) visits Octavio's house and finds out his stove doesn't work and the only thing in the fridge is a moldy sandwich. Seems Octavio dines elsewhere. And is not too domestic. But Raymundo wants some help retrieving whatever remains of Juana Barbara's gym. For that, Octavio's on board.

Juan Victoria visits Fernando's place, looks at his paintings and gets all overcome, shivery excited over what a great painter he is. We get to see a lot of her teeth and gums again and she prances around hysterically. And he shares how he needs to complete a few more of these "masterpieces" to receive his scholarship money for a New York Art School.

Soledad is at Inés' bedside, reading a book to her, but falling asleep as she reads. Mauricio comes in to take over. He gives Inés a kiss on the cheek and tenderly whispers "Hola". As he lovingly watches over his unconscious "novia", Steffi calls to find out how he's doing. He tells her about his broken ankle but notes that Inés is much worse. When he asks his sister how she's doing, she abruptly ends the call.

And back at the house, a village resident, grateful for the help Sebastian and Fernando gave rescuing her son, has delivered two chickens and a goat as a way of repaying their kindness.

Just then, the door opens and in blows Leonora, appalled to find her home is not only full of "ilegitimas", amantes, hangers on and whatnot, but also a barnyard of animals. They've turned her house into a "mulador" [garbage heap] and she ain't havin' it!

Really? Someone in the crowd (Barb, I think) reminds her that the girls are all Oropezas now and they have as much right to the house as she does. So there!

Fun recap JudyB. Thank you much.

Judy, thank you for the excellent recap of what seemed to be a really sad story.

"No love. No money. No how". Fictional characters going through real life tragedy, losing their homes and their livelihood. Shattered and broken. Yet, they escaped with their lives and for that, we are grateful.

:el perro de dos tortas" ["dog with two sandwiches"... a person who can't decide between two attractive choices, so gets neither" was my favorite followed closely by "mulador" [garbage heap]". Most excellent.

"Bad Dads" indeed. Perhaps we should bring back the biblical punishment of being boiled in oil. Fitting for Barbara's stepfather. Ack.

I'm sorry to have missed "bright persimmon orange sheath dress" and "sad plaids" but the thought of them was vivid.

Nina, "Jaun for robbed Then he sobbed la la la la la" made me smile. As you always do.

So, I guess it's Ringo at 8. Looking forward to it.

Judy, gracias amiga.

Diana

HIJAS

Thank you for the recap Del snark, Judy! :-)

"And Mauricio,....... With some snot running down his nose, unfortunately. Rather ruined the moment for me." Well. That sentence just cracked me up! Honest. LOL

"At that point, a clerk from the hospital comes in and demands 100 thousand pesos, paid immediately, for the intensive care costs that Inés has incurred. Otherwise, she'll be bounced out of the hospital, notwithstanding her coma."
Healthcare in Mexico isn't like it is up here in the USA, is it?!? From what I've been told, they often won't admit someone unless paid up front if there is no insurance, but IDK if that is true.

"Dario and his sad plaids.". Too funny. He likes those used car salesman plaids... reminds me of Herb Tarlek. 😁

Can things get any worse? The hotel is destroyed and no insurance. Inés is in a coma with no insurance. Must see TV: as the telenovela world turns.

Great reading, JudyB!
I am finding it hard to get engaged with this story so I am counting on reading scintillating recaps!
You mention that the dress and lipstick. I was dozing and missed it completely. But I have to admit the clashing lipstick and clothing in novelas makes me think that I must have missed a new fashion trend! I intend to hang around the patio and try to watch the capitulos but am finding the story less than compelling
That’s why I watch Giselle Gonzales I am far from fond of her endings, but she does tell a good story with interesting characters. I just prepare myself for a let down at the end
OT I am all in for Alborada!
Thanks again JudyB
Mely

HIJAS

Judy, thanks for another great recap.

Mauricio... "And Juana Barbara was so impressed with his talents, she labeled him "un estuche de monerias" { man of many talents]"

Thank you for the vocabulary, always nice. What impressed me about the scene was that Juana Barbara looked great. She should dress up in a surgical gown, and especially cover her hair with a cap, more often. Or just find some other, easier way to look good. She is ordinarily not all that appealing, but I sat up and took notice today.

She also seemed very interested in Mauricio. Respect recently, and today... what?

The woman who came in and announced that the bill had to be paid immediately or we dump your unconscious friend on the street seemed not bothered at all about it.

"I will say, I enjoyed seeing Leo all dolled up in a bright persimmon orange sheath dress and humongous pearls. MELY would probably object that the pink tones of her lipstick clashed with the color of her dress, but I'm inclined to be generous."

I'm with you, I think she looked really good. And maybe she could lend you some pearls to clutch, she has more than enough.

:-)

MAÑANA [12/02/2019] (part 1 of 2)

[you know...]

Camilo leaves MediaLink and finds slinky Almudena waiting for him. He has had a truly terrible day and is having trouble coping. La Bizcochito purrs that she can help him with that and embraces and kisses him. Nora is watching and taking pictures, and muttering to herself that this information is worth a lot of pastries.
Later it turns out that Nora is a very attentive spy (code name "Pastelitos"?). When she reports to Laura, Laura asks if it was a kiss on the cheek. Nora says no, it was a French kiss ("fue un beso francés, un beso de lengüita.") Ooh, la, la!
Laura wastes no time getting this info to Diana and Chabe.

Camilo is "Wait, what's this all about?" Almudena purrs some more and asks him if he didn't like the kiss. Of course he did, and she is very attractive, etc., but he's a married man.
No, you're a man separated from his wife now. La Bizcochito wants to be a part of his life again.

Diana is boohooing with Chabe. Mommy didn't want to talk to her.

Monica and Ximena are doing a little female bonding while eating the meal Iñaki prepared. Ximena is all for finding a man who would provide for her and cook for her, but until that happy day, why doesn't unemployed Monica do all the cooking? Not likely.
Camilito, a cute chubby little puppy who looks a lot like an overfed hamster, seems to like to nibble on Monica's fingers, perhaps because he doesn't want Monica paying so much attention to Ximena. But they go on discussing Big Camilo and MediaLink anyway. Monica decides to not go back for her severance pay since she still has hopes of returning there, she loved her job and it fulfills her.

Manuel has found the "stolen" jewels and takes them away. Crazy Maggie argues with him the whole time.

Almudena is still purring like a happy kitten and convincing Camilo that they should spend some time together and see what develops; don't say no, say maybe Baby. He says, Well, maybe maybe Baby. Good enough!
They go to lunch together and Almudena busily sows seeds of suspicion about Monica ("that scorpion on your back"; is this a common thing to say in Mexico? Camilo used it himself once), Iñaki, even Rafa. But certainly not about herself. She and Camilo are on the same team, Team Bizcochito ("el equipo bizcochito"). [Monica and Diana used the English word "Team"]
She has the hook in Camilo and plans to start reeling him in soon (she is so confident that we see her a little later looking at engagement rings), so she can't refuse when he asks a favor, could she help take care of the kids for a few hours?
La Bizcochito gulps, but gamely smiles and agrees to do so.

MAÑANA [12/02/2019] (part 2 of 2)

Manuel visits Lidia at casa Sarmiento, bearing jewelry, the jewelry that Crazy Maggie claimed had been stolen. He has his lawyer working on getting her criminal record expunged and whatever else they can do legally.
Lidia is grateful, and happy to learn that Manuel had not actually betrayed her and framed her for a crime. Nico is listening to this and he is happy they are clearing up their misunderstandings. He asks "Are you going to kiss now?"
They shyly say no, and Lidia does a cute little hand over her eyes because she's embarrassed, but they thank Nico for all his help getting them back on good terms, and do a group hug.

Manuel leaves casa Sarmiento and Lidia, but Crazy Maggie sees them together and looks like she wants to do crazy things.

She did say crazy things with Regina when she last saw her and Regina told her she would not let her adopt Regina's baby. Regina gets on the phone to tell Pablo all about it, but Pablo is called away to a meeting with Monica's replacement as Executive Manager of MediaLink, Malicio. At the meeting Malicio lays down the law about how he wants things run from now on at MediaLink, making Captain Bligh seem like a nice guy. Everybody is muy upset.

Diana goes to Almudena's suite to chew her out; Almudena hisses at her and slams the door.
Diana goes to Monica's to do more bonding and strategizing with Monica.

Adrian is thinking about taking off on a trip to Uruguay, he tells Laura. There's nothing to keep him here, right? Laura dithers.

La Bizcochito calls MediaLink and speaks with Nora, please let my Bizcochito know that I have made reservations for two at two o'clock, at Casa Luz.
Almudena gets no Brownie points when she thanks "Gordita".
Anyway, Gordita, aka Agent Pastelitos, gets on the phone to Laura to let her know about Almudena's date with Camilo.

Pablo goes to a motorcycle repair shop to confront the motorcyclist who clipped and injured him in front of MediaLink. And he takes "muscle" with him, Luis. I never would have expected to see this, but his sister Bodoque must have taught him some moves because he puts shop owner El Chato in a painful hold. El Chato confesses that he did it, but with no intention to seriously hurt Pablo. What and who is behind this we still don't know.

Diana, still at Monica's, learns about Almudena's date with Camilo from Laura, and she and Monica plan to be there.

== and here the episode ends ==

andy

Thank you , Judy and Andy for the snappy recap and andycap. You are both soldiering onward through all recriminations and craziness. Kudos for your fortitude.

I started watching Ringo last night , and it seems as though it will be a more traditional tn despite the boxing. It reminds me of our Carlos's favorite tn..Ganchos. He loved that show. Plus, I recognized many of the actors.

MAÑANA

Thank you for another entertaining, snarky andycap, Andy!
I especially liked "She has the hook in Camilo and plans to start reeling him in soon"
and
"making Captain Bligh seem like a nice guy. Everybody is muy upset."

This story really sounds like it is getting better after such a distasteful start. I just don't have much time to watch right now. Argh.

Diana's idea of letting Almudena deal with all the kids is brilliant. There is an old Dear Abby/Ann Landers or something story about a woman who did that. Her husband left her and their lack of kids for another woman. She sent the kids and the dog to stay with the woman, with the message that husband is a "package deal." That affair did not last long, after that. It's obvious that the writers of this show know that old story. 😎

Who is babysitting Nico when Camilo is in his date with Almudena? Granted, the rest of them need supervision, but he is the only real underage kid.

Well, that should have been "pack" of kids ...... too early in the a.m.

Good Morning Petite Patio.

Cold as a witch's whazzit here, but no snow yet. And always toasty warm with our wee group.

NINA...Can't say I blame Leonora for her reaction, arriving home to find that mess. Once I came back home (after taking care of daughter and new baby in Charlotte) to find the kitchen table (which was real wood, not formica) covered with dripping take-out dishes, fruit etc. My youngest and her friend had just left the entire mess. I pretty much hit the roof and they cleaned it all up quickly. But the damage was done to the finish. I had to remind myself that children, even grown-up children who should know better, are more important than furniture.

And yeah, you could totally do your jingle bell version.

Juan was robbed, then he sobbed..La la la la la
Hotel went down and did he frown! La la la la la and so forth.

DIANA...Thanks for checking in amiga. I really loved your recap of Ringo and knowing Cesar Evora is in it is a plus as well. The Hijas story might seem sad in the recaps, but given the context, we know everything will turn out well in the end. Although the theme of paternal mistreatment seems bleak. And certainly toxic and evil when it happens in real life. Luckily, the girls' real father Juan is just a big, sweet Hushpuppy. And we know somehow Mauricio's life will turn golden in the end.

DORIS...Hah! Yes, while watching it, I kept saying to myself...wait, wha', is that snot running down his nose?!!! With a young grandchild, I'm always on Snot Patrol. And sure enough--I think the actor had a cold when filming that scene. Later, with a cleaner nose, his eyes still looked red-rimmed as he talked to her. Ah well, the song was sweet. No matter.

Hola MELY: I am dying here, because our cable package does not include the channel showing Alborada. I could watch that over and over again. But alas...Certainly understand that it's hard to get engaged with this silly fluff story. But whenever there's something visually arresting, I think of you--our Decor and Color Consultant!
Just glad that you're back on the Patio and joining in with us on the comments.

ANDY...I agree, Barb has a nice face (and figure) but her hairstyle is most unattractive and unflattering. The telenovela stylists seem to do it a lot, and it never looks good on anybody. Can't imagine Barb going for gentle, boutonniere-always- in-his-sports jacket Mauricio, but stranger things have happened. And maybe a romantic rivalry would wake up dopey Juana Inés to the appeal of this gentle boy.
I really like "estuche de monerias" (it can also be interpreted as 'jack of all trades')but evidently it is just used in Mexico and is not recognized as "official Spanish". Oh well!

MANANA

So many good lines, ANDY...

Later it turns out that Nora is a very attentive spy (code name "Pastelitos"?)

and your description of Pup Camilo as looking like an "overfed hamster" was right on. I saw a bit of this and wondered, at one point, if Monica was holding a stuffed toy instead. The pup was completely limp which isn't typical of a puppy. Maybe they're overworking the poor baby.

However my favorite was Mauricio "making Captain Bligh seem like a nice guy". Too funny. Like a recent public figure once said "you were born to do this"! Thanks.

SUSANLYNN...Yep, ANDY and I are soldiering on, but I'm lucky to have a sub now and then. Immensely grateful to DORIS and ANITA. ANDY has strapped himself to the mast and is doing this all by his lonesome. And knocking it out of the park every time.

Judy ...ha...thanks for that visual of our Andy lashed to the mast. Sylvia would have had a giggle over that one. Ahoy, andy, are you ready to mutiny ? We did not get the predicted show yesterday, Did you ?

On my...what channel is showing Alborada? That was my first and favorite tn. I would love to watch it again !

HIJAS/MANANA

When I want a good laugh, I can always count on this patio for it. Andy and Judy, you two are a riot and I am so grateful that you are SO snarktastic. What a wonderful talent!

Hijas

JudyB, I LOL'd at "And Mauricio,....... With some snot running down his nose, unfortunately. Rather ruined the moment for me." I'm usually multitasking when I watch/listen to this TN. How I wish I had only been listening during this seen, but NOOOO, I caught that snot too...ewww!

Oh how I was hoping the goat would turn her little butt toward Leo and shoot; those little pellets can go a long way LOL

MANANA

Andy, La Bizcochinita is going all out to get her bizcochito, isn't she? When we first met Rafa, I thought for sure he was "too good to be true" but he has really turned out to be a good guy. So we have another case of "How can he be his mother's son?" Total opposites!

MAÑANA

Thank you, everybody, for your kind comments.

Doris, probably Lidia will be watching Nico while los Bizcochito lunch together. But later, when Almudena has to deal with Nico and maybe others, well, that should be "interesting"... and hopefully funny.

I'm sure you're right about the Dear Abby/Ann Landers story, and I don't doubt that Hollywood has done it a few times, but I am hoping it will be well done here.

Judy, Camilito is one low energy puppy, for sure. And Monica carries him way too much, but the show did get some good shots with him grazing on Monica's bedspread, and of him trying to catch her fingers when she was playfully poking at him.

Susanlynn, we did get a little snow, very little, you can only see it on the grass or on car tops, so no damage done. This served as a good dry run and a reminder to make sure we have enough ice melt on hand and enough ice cream in the freezer, just in case.

:-)

andy

MAÑANA

Rgv Chickie, thanks, our comments crossed.

I have also wondered about Rafa and la Bizcochito. Maybe Iñaki was the one who raised Rafa right? I was very suspicious of Rafa early on, but as you said he has turned out to be a nice guy. And Paloma has also turned nice and they are together.
Hallmark can't match this...

:-)

andy

MANANA

andy, you've left me a bit speechless.

Who cares about the story? I just ate up every word of your wonderful recap.

"it was a French kiss ("fue un beso francés, un beso de lengüita.") Ooh, la, la!" was "It".

"Camilito, a cute chubby little puppy who looks a lot like an overfed hamster, seems to like to nibble on Monica's fingers, perhaps because he doesn't want Monica paying so much attention to Ximena" had me smiling away.

"Almudena is still purring like a happy kitten and convincing Camilo that they should spend some time together and see what develops; don't say no, say maybe Baby". Just great.

I get the impression Almudea is spinning her wheels and that Cam and Di are destined to be together. Just looks like stubborn Monica needs a bit more time to digest Inaki is pretty perfect.

andy, thank you.

Diana

HIJAS -- THE HAMSTER WHEEL CONTINUES TO SPIN AND SPIN . . .

The usual disclaimers about scenes combined, bad translations, etc. I’m knocking this one out fast because we go to a hockey game tonight, gotta feed the dog and get dinner on the table before we leave.

After fighting with the eternal slowness of the Firefox browser, I looked forward to a mental health break of watching HIJAS today. How’s that for an oxymoron? Sheesh! I might have to cozy up to Microsoft Edge in this Windows 10 OS. Enough with my woes, because Stefi & Leo have me beat, today!

What we learn today:
1. The way to Leo’s heart is through her stomach
2. Barbara really does look great in scrubs
3. Not much else . . .

Leo is back in town, appalled at the animals in the house, including las invasoras (las Juanas & co). A goat nibbled at the hem of her top and that was my favorite scene! It happened to my dress once at a petting zoo. I know how she felt. Leo is also having a hissy fit over the hurricane damage at the hotel. I hope the goat is housebroken!

JuanO tells the girls they can stay at his house. (Seb’s face looks sick to his stomach)

Leo whines on the phone about the state of her life (bless her heart) to her BFFs then goes downstairs in her PJs with a bat, to run off the girls, but she smells some good food at the dining room table. A single place setting! She does not see that it is a well constructed trap!

Oooooh, it is yummy and the wine is good, too. Then ... she sees las invasoras (her words) and comes at them with her bat, ready to swing. The girls tell her they fixed the meal and that her maid has not been back since the hurricane. Leo tells them they can stay, UNDER PROTEST, because she needs servants. #survivalskilz

Stefi sends Vic a voice text that she is coming back to Mazatlan, she cannot stand being away from Sebastian. She needs to breathe the same air he breathes.

Next, she is at Octavio’s house talking to Mauricio, bawling her eyes out to him over Sebastian and her great sadness. Gah, this girl sure cries pretty! Stefi stops crying long enough to ask Mau why is he staying at Octavio’s house. He does not want to tell her the truth, but he mans up and tells all. (Well done, Mau! Stefi needs to know what a jerk her father really is).

Later, Stefi chastises Dario for humiliating Mau at the office. “What you do to my brother, you do to me!!!” but Dario does not give an inch. Later on, Dario visits Mau and tells him to come home. Dario admits he was out of bounds with what he did. Mau thanks him, but tells Dario that he is fine at Octavio’s. Daddy Dearest is not a happy camper. Nopis. Later, Stefi tells Mau that she wouldn’t go back home, either, but Dario is so fragile right now just like me. Oh puh-leeze, girl, wake up and smell the coffee about your father!

Sebastian & Victoria argue for, what? the 98th time over their hidden love, breakups, etc. blah blah blah….. and the wheels on the bus go ‘round and ‘round … we are all SO over this.

HIJAS -- THE HAMSTER WHEEL CONTINUES TO SPIN AND SPIN . . . Part 2 of 2

Juan-O reminds the amoeba clan v2 to NOT let Leo find out about the insurance problem. Fernando says it will be hard to keep that lie going. I agree.

Amoeba clan v2 is at the hospital and the doctor tells them that Ines’ brain swelling has ceded, but she might have some problems when she wakes from her coma. Daño neuronal! They won’t know if any of her senses will be affected until then. (Well, that girl didn’t have much sense anyway, so it might not be very noticeable)

Stefi tells Vicky she came home because she loves Sebastian. Vicky looks sick, like she just swallowed a cockroach.

Suegrita is still terrorizing Soledad. She won’t let her eat junk food or drink alcohol.

Scene at the hospital where JuanO is in full scrubs, face mask, and surgical gloves. He is talking to comatose Ines, telling her blah blah blah. While doing this, his face mask falls below his mouth, then he takes off the surgical glove to stroke her hand. WHY is there a protocol of scrubs when he ignores it all? Oh, right! This is a telelnovela!

Cute scene of Octavio and Sol on the beach at night. (Octavio was looking really hawt in this scene, too.) When they speak out loud, it’s all stuff they want la suegrita to hear. They are texting each other what they really are saying!!!
Finally Octavio texts to Sol “whaddya think about having a kid for realz?” (I think that’s what he said)
Sol is all “whaaaaaat? are u trying to drive me over the edge? (at least that’s what I made up because she used a lot of slang) You’re crazy!”

Scene with Barb and Mau, where it looks to this recapper like Barb would like to mack on Mauricio until she learns he spent all his money saved on Ines’ medical bills.

Dario has followed Sebastian home, tells him to never come near Stefi again. Bingo cards out, patio? Seb says “No me toques!” (alas, I am not playing) Leo is wearing another great dress when she hears the ruckus, opens the front door, and interrups this convo.

Later, Stefi is not looking very cute, stretched out on her bed, still wearing the towel on her head after washing her hair. She is juuuuust soooooo depreeeessed. Darios tries to cheer her up, shows her a new dress he bought (and I’m tryhing to not be creeped out by that). Stefi ain’t having it. She is in the Depths of Despair. Just wallowing in it. Will she ever be happy again? Do we really care?

That's it for today.

Vocabulary:
“ahora caigo” (Leonora) – Now I get it…. shortened version of ‘ahora be caigo el veinte’?
“teliches” (per the CCs on my screen) --- ‘tiliches’ is junk, knickknacks, etc.
“googleamos” – we’ll Google so… “googlear” -- to Google something
“plebe” – colloquial term in Mexico for kid

HIJAS

Doris, I'm half way through your "knock-out" of a recap, but I had to stop after I read this:
"Sebastian & Victoria argue for, what? the 98th time over their hidden love, breakups, etc. blah blah blah….. and the wheels on the bus go ‘round and ‘round … we are all SO over this." I cracked up because when I first read your title, the bus song came to mind! Good one! And ITA, ya basta, Seb and Vic! Get on with it or get over it!

HIJAS

doris, just delightful.

"After fighting with the eternal slowness of the Firefox browser...I might have to cozy up to Microsoft Edge in this Windows 10 OS" had me smiling as did just about every word.

"#survivalskilz" great.

"Stefi...cannot stand being away from Sebastian. She needs to breathe the same air he breathes". He of the pearl white smile has them fawning and fretting. But he is divine, so no judgement here.

"They won’t know if any of her senses will be affected until then. (Well, that girl didn’t have much sense anyway, so it might not be very noticeable)" - and there you have it. :)

The vocabulary was greatly appreciated especially “googleamos” – we’ll Google so… “googlear” -- to Google something".

You're a busy lady. Have fun at your game and thank you for another great recap.

Diana

Hijas

Doris, thank you for an excellent, fun recap, rushed though it might have been. And I hope your team won.

I loved
"What we learn today:
1. The way to Leo’s heart is through her stomach
2. Barbara really does look great in scrubs
3. Not much else . . . "

"I hope the goat is housebroken!" We would have to check with Rgv Chickie, but I don't think goats are easily housebroken.

MAÑANA [12/03/2019] (part 1 of 2)

[Not only the usual slicing and dicing, but a good bit of ignoring stuff I couldn't understand even with the help of our other friend, Srta Closed Captioning]

Diana, at Monica's, learns about Almudena's date with Camilo from Laura. Monica and Diana decide to be there too, gleefully planning ways to make sure the date doesn't go as Almudena plans.

Pablo and tough guy Luis get the motorcycle shop owner to spill the beans about who hired him to put a scare into Pablo. It sounds like Crazy Maggie.

Diana arrives home to talk to Regina and Nico. She tells them of her visit to see her bio mom at the Old Folks Home [Srta CC tells me she said "asilo La Sirena"], and that Mercedes did not want to talk to her. Diana plans to give her some time and then try again.
Regina tells Diana that Camilo will be home very late and the Bizcochito Witch will arrive earlier to take care of them. But Nico reassures Diana that he and Regis know how to take care of her. (double toil and trouble, maybe?)

Manuel tells Adrian what he has discovered about Crazy Maggie's actions against the pure and comely Lidia, and they agree that Maggie needs psychiatric help.
Lidia tells Luis the whole story.

Justice almost catches up with Cristóbal and almost hangs him out to dry. Javiera and the band are at the same bar where a very drunk Cristóbal helped himself to some woman's wallet to pay his tab. Security recognizes him from their camera shots and they take him to a back office to show him the video evidence. He claims he was drunk and doesn't remember anything. The aggrieved victim wants him to be turned over to the police.
Luckily for Cristóbal the woman turns out to be a big fan of Javiera and her music, and Javiera manages to calm the victim down and convinces her to not press charges, she will pay back what Chris stole.

Hot Wicked Bizcochito Witch (HWBW :) arrives at Camilo's house and finds it a disaster area. Nico especially must have had fun spreading stuff everywhere.
But HWBW must really have the hots for Camilo and/or she's not the brightest hot tamale in town. She almost runs out, but she stops herself and says "Todo sea por ti, bizcochito."
She cleans and straightens things up, only to have the two kids mess it up again. I think we have all seen this movie before, and done better. And today we have cell phone cameras and such to document what the little darlings were doing; it seems to never have occurred to her, and when Camilo arrives she bolts out the door, done in by two kids. ("Se escapó" says Camilo.)

It was OK, I would give it a C+, or a B- to be generous.

MAÑANA [12/03/2019] (part 2 of 2)

Monica gets ready for a girl's night out with Ximena, but she's a Doggy Mommy now and has to be sure that Camilito will be OK. He has food and water and toys, he has a poopoo pad and she just took him out, so everything is ready.
She goes to a nice restaurant and waits for Ximena, but Camilo and a client are at the same restaurant (I think it was accidental), and the client recognizes Monica. He thinks that Monica is going to be a party to the meeting but they inform him that it's not so, that Monica no longer works for MediaLink. The client is surprised and tells her that his business could always use someone with her talents. Monica declines politely and he tells her that she should contact him if she changes her mind.

Later Monica thanks Camilo for his discretion, not mentioning she was fired. He did it for MediaLink, not for her, he doesn't want people thinking there are internal problems at MediaLink.
Monica is not completely happy with this and asks him why he can't forgive her. What she did, she did for love. He counters that manipulating someone is not love, the guilt he felt, caused by her, was not love. She says that still, there was something special between them and if he weren't so stubborn he could admit it.
But she is going to show him and she grabs his head with both hands and leans into a big kiss. He responds and it's not a short kiss; Monica opens her eyes a couple of times and the kissing goes on. (I will note here that Camilo is a fairly big guy and he should have been able to disengage from Monica if he really wanted to :)

Eventually they break, and Camilo says, among other things, Please, no more stolen kisses. Monica is flummoxed, "stolen kisses?" Not stolen!
Ximena arrives and Camilo leaves. Monica starts in, Camilo is stubborn, dumb,... A whole litany of his faults. But she admits she did just kiss him, and in public.
High fives from Ximena!

Ximena receives a text from Malicio, he would like to get together, she tells him when he does something to help Monica get back to MediaLink, otherwise forget it.
Malicio then receives a call from his loving wife, Barbi, who cooked some special dishes for him. He tells her he is too busy. A very frustrated Barbi disgustedly throws away her cookbook, "Recetas Afrodisiacas", which I don't think is a Soul Food cookbook. Poor girl is really frustrated.

Monica and Ximena continue drinking, a lot. The next morning they are beautifully hungover. Ximena has to go to work, but Monica can sleep in. She does and dreams of a nice church wedding for her and Camilo, and Camilo kissing her. And she wakes up to Camilo actually kissing her, or at least licking her face, as puppies sometimes will.

That morning Camilo is making sandwiches for Nico and Regina. But he makes them sandwiches that they don't like, and they want to get something in the cafeteria anyway. It seems nothing goes right at home anymore without Diana. Nor at the office without Monica.

A busy morning, indeed. Barbi is giving Malicio the third degree, spitting mad and questioning him about where he spent the night. He tells her he spent the night at work going through the company's books. He has found a scheme that lets Rafa steal from the company! And he has proof!
Barbi relents a bit, shocked that ungrateful Rafa would steal from their father. But it's good that Rafa has the proof and is going to expose the scheme.

hIJAS

DORIS...You're a master at knocking our great recaps on the fly, while battling a cranky browser, tending a sweet doggie, whipping up dinner and rushing out for a hockey game. All we need now is someone belting out I AM WOOOOOOMAN!

Loved this:

Leo whines on the phone about the state of her life (bless her heart) A lot of my relatives are from the South and oh my, the times I've heard that sweetly acidic "bless her heart" about somebody. Leonora was not at her best in this episode, but who can blame her. (Okay, we can a little bit)

and of course this:

Sebastian & Victoria argue for, what? the 98th time over their hidden love, breakups, etc. blah blah blah….. and the wheels on the bus go ‘round and ‘round … we are all SO over this.

And I hate to admit this, but Vicky just annoys me period. I've seen the actress be quite charming in other roles, so it's the goofy, hyperactive, over the top behavior that the director evidently wants that's putting me off. But it certainly cancels any desire I might have to see a Vicky-Seb romance thrive and blossom.

And like you, I always laugh when the actors come in like they're going to perform surgery, then lower the face mask, and Good Lord! pat and stroke the bandaged head of someone whose brain is dangerously swollen!

Also agree that Barb is definitely coming on to Mauricio. And he seems sweetly oblivious.

Oh my. Anyway, querida amiga, a fun romp of a recap and a lifesaver for me. Thank you.

PS And hope your team won!

MAÑANA

Hola ANDY...I have to be glad I didn't see this one, because even reading about Monica's extended kiss with a seemingly paralyzed Camilo would have raised my blood pressure to ridiculous levels. And who needs that?

And had to laugh at Señorita Closed Captions failure to illuminate everything. Yes, it is a big letdown when that happens.

"Pure and comely Lidia" was a hoot and was this:

A very frustrated Barbi disgustedly throws away her cookbook, "Recetas Afrodisiacas", which I don't think is a Soul Food cookbook.

Just perfect. Thanks. Crossing my fingers that Monica gives up on Camilo soon and sees the charm of devoted Iñaki.

MANANA

"...but a good bit of ignoring stuff I couldn't understand even with the help of our other friend, Srta Closed Captioning]" was my favorite andy along with "(double toil and trouble, maybe?)". :)

"Mercedes did not want to talk to her. Diana plans to give her some time and then try again". Diana is quite courageous. After such a painful rejection, Diana will try again. She does have a huge heart. And forgives.

"She does and dreams of a nice church wedding for her and Camilo, and Camilo kissing her". Like mi amiga Judy, can only hope that Monica comes to "see the light" sooner rather than later.

Thank you andy!

Diana

MANANA

Thank you ,Andy, your humorous and good natured andycaps brighten my day and are appreciated

Judyb, I am with you. Watching someone moon over a married person is upsetting to me. Everyone Seems to be fair game nowadays..married or single. In Outlander, the heroine has to contend with not only women lusting after her husband, but also a man Who is hopelessly in love with him. I thought OF you when I read how the author of OutLander often creates titles for her chapters. She thinks of one word that has something to do with that chapter, and then she looks up quotes with that word in a quote reference book, such as Bartletts.

MAÑANA

Oh, andy, you had me laughing with ”but a good bit of ignoring stuff I couldn't understand even with the help of our other friend, Srta Closed Captioning” especially because it could mean “Sorta CC”. LOL Thank you!

I loved---
”(I will note here that Camilo is a fairly big guy and he should have been able to disengage from Monica if he really wanted to :)”

. . . . Recetas Afrodisiacas", which I don't think is a Soul Food cookbook”

HIJAS

Judy – Disclaimer --- I’m not all that much of a superwoman; we always have leftovers on hockey game night. ;-)

And our team lost, due to some atrocious officiating who clearly wanted the other team to win.

MANANA

Andy, thank you for such an entertaining Andycap. Like JudyB, I hope Monica gives up on Camilo very soon; she really should consider that offer from the other businessman. And where is Iñaki?

I also hope Barbi throws out those rose-colored glasses really soon.

I'm still waiting for the mother-daughter reunion between Diana and Meche.

GOATS

I've always wondered about goat yoga and if those goats are house trained, or otherwise trained. Seems like goaty "accidents" would be . . . unpleasant.

HIJAS and MANANA
I'm still hanging in, depending on the recaps to keep me informed. Thank you, Doris, JudyB and Andy.

They need to finish up with the hurricane aftereffects. We don't have two years and counting.

Hijas is getting ridiculous and Manana is getting worse again (fantasy weddings? Gimmie a Break), but the recaps never get ridiculous or worse. They just keep getting better and better to satisfy our need for an outlet to express our REAL feelings.

How is this going to end....:

Monica has another fantasy wedding, but it's Inaki instead of Camilo? And it happens in a blink of an overnight. Voila, stick a fork in it.

Seb and Vic can't stay away from each other and Steffi, Dario AND Leo catch them en flagrante delicto, kissing al frances. Steffi commits suicide, Dario has apoplexy and Leo has a real heart attack.

The only thing keeping me going right now (besides the recaps) is HOW Malicio is to be taken down and Rafa saved.

How quaint is it that Adrian wants to go to Uruguay and take Laura with him--it's a long flight. Maybe they'll get up to see the Iguazu Falls, meet a gaucho or two in full dress, try some mate and get some sand between their toes at the beach in Piriapolis.

Thanks again, you army of three and a couple of hangers on for keeping us interested in getting to Los Fines as soon as possible.

ALBORADA
Help. No one mentioned the name of the channel it's broadcasting on. None of my 1149 channels list an Alborada in a title search.

ANITA

With both MAÑANA and HIJAS, we're hoping to get to los Por Fines as soon as possible.

ALBORADA

Anita - I just did a search (Comcast) and got nothing.

HIJAS #36 A LOT HAPPENED BUT NONE OF IT WAS INTERESTING

Part 1

Who knew these pretty people could become so tedious? But they have.

Strangely, Leonora was the only bright spot. Both in terms of outfits (a stunning hot pink bias-cut top over a black slacks ensemble) and getting all cozy comfy with her new-found animal buddies (preferable to the Juanas, evidently)to the point that she even shared her sandwich. That "let's be friends" scene in the pantry was the best part of the whole episode. The rest--the usual aimless hamster spinning and we've seen it all before.

Mind you, at episode's beginning, Leonora and Nannygoat Petunia were on the outs. Mainly because Petunia had nibbled a big hole in one of Leo's designer outfits. Voices were raised and threats were made--Vicky and Teresa were going to have to pay for the damages. Not that they ever could. But...whatever.

Later Steffi and Vicky talk. Vic is not happy that Estefania, in desperation, kissed Sebastian on the mouth. But totally delighted to hear that he hadn't responded at all (Are you listening Camilo?) Vicky cheerily recommend distraction for Steff's broken heart, but the latter confesses that she tried that in Chiapas and it didn't work.

Hard to watch these two together so let's switch to the three job-seekers, Sebastian, Javier and Juan. Together they've a dynamite team--Juan for sales, Javier for maintenance and Seb for administration. But nobody wants to hire the dynamite team. They're either dealing with the aftermath of the hurricane themselves or simply have no need for three more mouths to feed. Our trio goes up and down the tourist coast of Mexico and come up totally empty.

Let's move from that particular dead end to another. The feminine transformation of Juana Barbara. After a lot of twitchy hesitating, she finally confesses to Mom that she has the hots for Mauricio. Margarita immediately swings into action, changing daughter's hairstyle, applying a little make-up, and squeezing her into a dress and high heels.

It's a total disaster. Barb can't walk in the heels, can't get comfy in the dress, feels like a beggar costumed for Halloween and just plain doesn't recognize herself!
Fuhgeddaboutit Mom! But above all, DO NOT TELL ANYBODY I'M HOT FOR MAURICIO!

Okay, and one more stonewall to come. Seb and Vicky have another one of their pointless fights, but this time she finally spills the beans that Juana Inés is madly in love with him. He suddenly understands a lot of the latter's strange behavior, but moves smoothly into his usual--why don't we go back to loving each other in secret? Nopis, no can do. It's too dangerous.

Give Vicky credit. She ain't smart but she sure is stubborn. Once she's decided on a course of action...or non-course, she's lashed to the mast and unwilling to move. Seb asks for a crumb--"Do you still love me?" -"More than ever" she replies. And then flounces out of the room.

We then find ourselves with dear, dazzling Leonora trying to pump some hope and gumption back into Estefania. It's a total bust. Steffi has no hopes of re-igniting Seb's love, even though Leo points out that a love grown cold can always be rekindled. Steffi ain't buyin' it. The color has faded from her cheeks, her lovely outfits are a thing of the past (fashionista Leo noticed that right away) and she's wan and weary to the max.

HIJAS #36 A LOT HAPPENED BUT NONE OF IT WAS INTERESTING

Part 2

Anyway, that secret is out. Now let's spill another. Teresa is talking to a distracted Margarita about the designer dress-nanny goat disaster and suddenly--to cover up Barb's secret, Margarita blurts out that Juana Soledad is pregnant. That's big news to Teresa but she's over the moon happy. Evidently, in Telenovela Land, a pregnancy is ALWAYS good news, even if the parents aren't married and poor as church mice.

And finally Leonora and Dastardly Dario have a confab and it doesn't go well. He's enraged that she even tried to fix up the broken engagement. He's crazy about Leonora (she looks slightly discomfited at this news) but he'll be damned if he ever lets that rotten Sebastian near his daughter again! Y punto!

We're back in the cozy kitchen of the Blue House where Vicky is confessing to her madrina that she totally blew it and confided Inés' secret love to Sebastian. This mea culpa mea maxima culpa is interrupted by a dejected Papi Juan returning from his fruitless job search. So Teresa decides to cheer him up by telling another "secret"--that Juana Soledad is pregnant.

Joy joy joy! They all rush out to celebrate Papi Juan becoming a grandfather. Never mind that he doesn't have a penny to his name and neither does anyone else. New life! New hope! All good! Damn the torpedos! Onwards!

Now before you get too hysterically excited, let me calm you down again with some dreary news. Seb is served a summons by a flunkie because he's a week late on repaying that big loan he took out. If he doesn't find the money in a New York minute, he's going to be dragged into court! Got it? Javier, with his usual calm, annoying advice, tells Sebastian to "breathe", slow down and they can deal with this later.

So now, at Octavio's house, a "pachanga" [party] is in full swing. Balloons, streamers and general merriment--on everybody's part but the couple in question. They're madly texting each other saying "What do we do next? Keep on pretending? Or tell the truth and risk the Spirit Suegra's wrath? Octavio shares that she was a Tough Love Mama, washing out his mouth with soap if she didn't like the way he talked. So let's play it safe and keep on pretending. Trato hecho [it's a deal]

So "light has pierced the darkness" at Octavio's as everyone celebrates the new life to come. At Dario's home, the light has been extinguished completely. Steffi is huddled in a corner of the bathroom in the dark, sobbing her heart out. She begs her father to leave her alone, but he cries his heart out with her. And later keeps a sleepy vigil in a chair, as she tosses and turns in her lonely bed.

Another bright spot in the darkness?--well, it depends on how you view Inés. The doc says she's about to come out of her coma. But of course we don't yet know if there is any nerve damage. Juan, Vicky and Seb look appropriately worried and nervous.

Barb, after casting multiple lascivious looks at Mauricio during the pachanga, is having another go at becoming a Girly Girl. She studies a video of haughty models walking the runway and attempts the same. Total fail. But all is not lost. Margarita arrives with some lovely earrings from Barb's grandmother. Maybe this will be the magic charm.

But for Steffi, there is no magic. At all. She awakens again in a panic attack. Dad is in his room getting dressed. She runs out of the house and into the waves, heading further and further out into the pounding surf.

Dario realizes that she is gone, follows her and quickly sloughing off his shoes, rushes into the waves to save his darling princess.

And there we end.

HIJAS MANANAS

Hola ANITA and DORIS...Yes! we're hoping for "the end" on both these stories, but I think it's going to be a while.

On Alborada, it's on some obscure station that we don't get. MELY gets it where she is, but we folks on the East Coast don't seem to. Which is a darned shame. That and Amor Real are fabulous stories.

Unlike these two.

But I sure do like our Patio!

HIJAS

Thank you, Judy, for holding our hand through this silly episode. My favorite part was Leo TALKING TO THE GOAT! And the chickens! I haven’t laughed that hard in, well, ages. This actress is great!

“Once she's decided on a course of action...or non-course, she's lashed to the mast and unwilling to move.” --- Spot on, Judy!

Ay, pobrecito de Barbara in her skirt & "tacos". Bless her heart! but kudos for trying.

Just as I was thinking Estefi needs and intervention, she tries to drown herself in the ocean. Good grief, she really does need an intervention! (Too bad Dario won’t drown. And we know he won’t. )

”He's crazy about Leonora (she looks slightly discomfited at this news)” Her dramatic facial expression was the other bright spot in Viewerville. What a pro! This actress is great. She must have watched a lot of Carol Burnett.

HIJAS

I can’t speak for the content of this episode Judy but your recap was totally interesting and engrossing. You give vibrancy to each of the characters, whether they deserve them or not.

Loved "she's lashed to the mast and unwilling to move" and "wan and weary to the max".

Enjoyed the enthusiasm of "New life! New hope! All good!"

"Vic is not happy that Estefania, in desperation, kissed Sebastian on the mouth. But totally delighted to hear that he hadn't responded at all (Are you listening Camilo?) had me smiling in appreciation.

doris, I don't watch but am a huge fan of Cynthia Klitbo. Her facial expressions ARE priceless and your comment on them being reminiscent of Carol Burnett was spot on.

"But for Steffi, there is no magic" has me concerned.

You made a silk purse out of a sow's ear and a lovely one at that Judy!

Diana

Super recap, JudyB. Keeping me up to date. I am going to have to start watching again as the names-faces connection is weakening

Now I am worried! I just assumed I could watch Alborada! I have been counting on it. Caray Caray!! Will check tomorrow. I won’t mention it too often if I am lucky enough to get it. Don’t want to depress the patio!

Once again, thank you for being such a trooper JudyB

Mely

HIJAS

Judy, thank you for another of your excellent recaps.

I agree that Leonora was a hit, but she always is. It was great to see her share her sandwich with Petunia Goat (not to be confused with Petunia Pig).

J. Barbara is looking pretty good. I realized it's not just when she hides that hair, it also helps tremendously when she doesn't scowl.

And, ahem, not to rub it in but Mañana ends way before Hijas.

Ha!

:-)

MAÑANA [12/04/2019] (part 1 of 2)

Where we left off:
Malicio has "found" a scheme that lets Rafa steal from the company! And he has proof!
Barbi is shocked that the ungrateful Rafa would steal from their father. But it's good that MALICIO has the proof and is going to expose the scheme.
[I made a boo-boo yesterday and wrote that Rafa was going to expose the scheme; but of course it is the nasty, evil Malicio who has the fake proof against Rafa.]

Diana and Laura do a post-op analysis of Operation "Destruye Bizcochos" and conclude that Regina and Nico did a great job.
Almudena calls Camilo as he is getting ready to go to work and reminds him of their lunch date. She then flirts suggestively with Camilo. Camilo is not upset; Almudena is happy.

Lidia, Manuel, and his lawyer discuss resolving Lidia's legal problems. It should be very doable if Lidia has not had any other problems with the law. Lidia hesitates...
She tells them of her problems with her promoter, and is worried because it would be her word against his. Manuel asks if she was the only woman he tried to take advantage of.
No, there were lots of women.
OK, says Manuel, we need to find some of them to testify against him. Lidia is all smiles and bats her eyes a bit; Manuel is doing all the right things. Ahem.

Iñaki arrives at Monica's to help with her plan to crash Almudena's little tete-a-tete lunch with Camilo. Iñaki tells her his proposal for investing in MediaLink has as a requirement that Monica be brought back. Monica is ecstatic at the news and hugs and kisses Iñaki (but, no, no, no, not on the lips).
Then she's deflated when she remembers that Camilo does not want her back.

Monica thanks Iñaki for the dinner he made for them, that she and Ximena ate, it was great. He says that if she wants he could come every day to cook for her and spoil her, You pretty thing, you!
[OK, he actually called her "Maja" which is a very pretty woman (Ha! my favorite translation, by far, from a fairly old dictionary, was "flashy dame"). But Monica heard "Naca" and we should remember from Sin tu mirada that "nacos" are low class or ignorant people. Hoy, vey! Thank God for CC and several dictionaries!]
Iñaki clarifies, "maja", not "naca", and they both laugh.

Tita triumphs! The school Administratrix addresses one of Regina's classes to announce that Regina will NOT be suspended (and she hopes this will settle any legal claims against the school). Of course, says Tita.

Cristóbal hits (alcoholic) bottom. Fortunately for him, Javiera, who has saved his butt before, tries again.
She visits MediaLink looking for Camilo but Camilo is not there. Nora sends her to Rafa. Rafa knows that Luis is in an AA group and they go find Cristóbal who is at the end of his rope.

Iñaki and Monica are at casa Luz restaurant waiting to derail La Bizcochito's plans. Iñaki mentions that he will have to return to Spain soon because of his business interests. Monica is surprised and a bit flustered. Then los Bizcochito arrive and Monica says hello to them. They stop for a minute and then are about to go to their own table when Nico runs in.
Surprise, surprise! Diana and Nico are going to have lunch at casa Luz, too!
Why don't we all have lunch together? No, no, no! Yes, yes, yes! Almudena rolls her eyes. No, no, no!
Yes. They will lunch together. How nice.

As lunch is ending Diana goes to make a phone call. When she returns she tells Camilo that she has to meet with her editor and illustrator concerning her new book. Can he take Nico? Camilo can't, he has meetings scheduled. Monica can't, she and Iñaki already bought tickets for a movie.
Ah! Almudena, can you take care of little darling Nico? Please?
Almudena is trapped with no way out.

MAÑANA [12/04/2019] (part 2 of 2)

Camilo and Iñaki talk alone, Camilo is turning down Iñaki's proposal, they will do without his investment in MediaLink and Monica will not be returning. Iñaki thinks Camilo is making a bad decision. Camilo counters that Iñaki is supporting Monica because he has a personal interest in her, and Iñaki retorts that he is a man who, in business, thinks with his head, not with his heart, unlike Camilo. (really, he said "heart")

Camilo, not being very nice, says that Iñaki might be happy with Monica now, but he should have seen the way Monica kissed him just last night. Iñaki is not moved, that might mean to Camilo that Monica is a social climber (? he said "arribista") but to him it just shows how much Monica loves Camilo.

Rafa and Luis leave MediaLink to find Cristóbal. They find him and take him to a cafe to have something to eat and ask if he's willing to accept help. He is, he wants to get out of the hell that his alcoholism is for him.
For some reason I can't quite figure out, they then take him to Monica's. She puts him to bed in her bedroom. I couldn't see if she let him hold her teddy bear.

Evil Malicio goes to Camilo with a long face, I have some bad news, he says. Here are records of charges made by Rafa's department for work done. He collected but only reported small amounts to MediaLink. He has been robbing you blind. Here are records of all the transactions and they show he's been siphoning off money for a long time.
Camilo is enraged.
They go to Rafa's office; Camilo as the owner of the business has a password that will open any of the company's computers. On Rafa's he finds "proof" of Rafa's misdeeds.
He's enraged all over again, and has a pain in his left arm. (This is at least the third time we have seen something like this. My medical training at the University of Telenovelandia and at Wotsamatta U. tells me this is... well, you already know, right?)

Rafa returns from his missionary work with Cristóbal and is confronted by a furious Camilo who accuses him of all sorts of things.
Mucho yelling and screaming and accusing and counter-accusing. It winds up that Rafa is out of work but Camilo won't press charges for the good of MediaLink and because, regardless of what he has done, Rafa is his son. The son he doesn't ever want to see again.

Luis goes to Camilo to defend Rafa. He can't believe the charges. Rafa is too good a guy, and after all, he just went to help Camilo's son, Cristóbal, who just had an alcoholic crisis. Camilo asks where Cristóbal is now.

At a tattoo parlor, some beefy guy tells Possible Baby Daddy (PBD) that some people were looking for him, something to do with Regina Sarmiento.

At casa Sarmiento, Regina, Diana, Laura and Nico all doubt that Rafa is the crook he is accused of being.

== and here the episode ends ==

MAÑANA

'Na nice! ANDY, rubbing it in that Mañana will end a lot earlier than Hijas. I'm hoping that somebody at Univision takes our their famous scissors and starts slicing and dicing big-time. They can chop everything but Leonora's funny scenes as far as I'm concerned. And prizes to the wardrobe people, bupkis to the writers.

Lots of delicious little gems in your recaps:

PBD Possible Bady Daddy

[Rafa] "missionary work" with Cristobal

and my fave:

"my medical training at the University of Telenovelandia and at Wotsamatta U..."

And very excited to learn a new word. If I ever knew "maja" I've forgotten it, so that was fun. Gracias. Is that perhaps a more typical Spanish Spanish phrase than Mexican Spanish?

Anyway, thanks as always, you rascal. The recaps are fun. The episodes...well, no need to go there again.

Good Morning Petite Patio. Frosty here, but cozy warm on the internet.

DORIS...The book I was madly trying to finish was about Odysseus and a slew of other Greeks, mortals and gods etc. so "lashing oneself to the mast" was floating around in that stew of my brain anyway. Leonora is definitely my new best friend in this. She juices up any scene she's in. Can't say I'm enthused about any of the other actors. Though my favorite couple would be Octavio and Soledad.

DIANA...Thanks for your kindness in always stopping by after a hard day to encourage us recappers and commenters alike. Steffi has made a rather abrupt turn from perfect, gracious, mature young woman to Absolute Trainwreck. A little unbelievable but good for drama since Ines is now coming out of her coma and the hurricane is over.

MELY...I certainly hope that you can find Alborada on your cable package, if that's what you have. When I typed it in, it did give me a channel (which I've forgotten) but it was "locked" and I'd have to call in to have it added. Our cable charge is already sky-high so that's a no-go.

ANDY....Thanks for reminding us that Juana Barbara did not scowl in this one. At least not as much. I suppose this part of the story is to show us that LOVE can heal even the worst psychic wounds from the past. On the other hand, LOVE seems to have done a very scary number on poor Estefania.

Have a great day Patio. And keep looking for ALBORADA! It's a gem for sure.

Andy - thank you for another highly entertaining andycap!!!

The inner teen in me loved:
". (really, he said "heart")" ;-)

My fav:
"my medical training at the University of Telenovelandia and at Wotsamatta U..."
LOL!!!

While MAÑANA will end sooner, it also began sooner, and is only five episodes less than HIJAS, per Prof. Wikipedia. Judy, lets hope Looneyvision brings out las tijeras soon for HIJAS.

HIJAS

Thank you, JudyB! Excellent and snarktastic as ever!

JudyB, "That "let's be friends" scene in the pantry was the best part of the whole episode." Most definitely! That really took me for a loop! I have a love-hate relationship with Leo...great actress and stealing the show, but leo can be such a w(B)itch!!

MANANA

Andy, thanks for witty Andycap; always a joy to read!

I hated seeing Camilo tear into Rafa and Maldecido being so smug (yes, I actually caught that scene). It seems that everyone except Camilo is using their common sense and knows that Rafa is no crook. Get your head out of the quicksand, Cami!

JudyB and Andy, I haven't watched afternoon TNs for very long, but since I started watching them, there has been very little or no tijeras used :-/

MANANA

Someone is on fire here. Who could it be andy??!!!

"My medical training at the University of Telenovelandia and at Wotsamatta U" had me laughing out loud.

"She then flirts suggestively with Camilo. Camilo is not upset". Dolt.

"He says that if she wants he could come every day to cook for her and spoil her, You pretty thing, you!". Please enlighten me, what is NOT to love about Inaki??

Your summary that included "we should remember from Sin tu mirada that "nacos" are low class or ignorant people. Hoy, vey! Thank God for CC and several dictionaries!]
Iñaki clarifies, "maja", not "naca", and they both laugh" made me laugh as well.

Still a lot of pain to be resolved but your medicine makes this all go down well andy. Thank you!

P.S. I'm glad I got to post this now - my comments seem to be buried sometimes :)

Diana

HIJAS AND MANANA
Thank you JudyB and Andy. Oh, Andy, what will you do after Manana ends? Please, please volunteer for at least one Friday episode of Hijas. We will wait for one of your gems any time, on any street corner in Mazatlán.

It's so easy to lump these together now, there's not much to distinguish them except the color orange and Barbara Bush Pearls. Nothin' much happening in either except goat bonding, job hunting, mama spirit shaking poor Sol and an overgrown hamster who tips over candlesticks and vocabulary building (maja).

I swear I did not have a clue that Steffi really was going to try to off herself, a la Bruce Dern in Coming Home or closer to Caray, Raquel in Caer en Tentatcion when I suggested this ought to be her ending.

At least she kept her clothes on, so she could be rescued. I still think there is something not quite right about Dario's relationship with Steffi, contrasted to how he treats Mau. Wouldn't it be a huge he/ho if Mau and Seb turn out to be half-brothers (busy guy Jerome?) After all, why would casting pick two handsome guys that for all the world look like brothers?

Meanwhile, the OTHER Mau is beyond despicable and has poor Barbi twisted around his little finger. She wanted the whole happy wife, house and picket fence fantasy. I admire Xi for holding Mau at bay, but I really hope she is recording him, to be used later on.

Maggie is going to harm Regie and Lidia if someone doesn't step in and send her to jail for bringing false charges regarding the jewelry or the manicomio for safe-keeping. Pablo already knows what she's capable of.

Here's to another afternoon of being lashed to the masht (hmmm, a little too mush Harvey's Bristol Cream, I fear).

Diana the Wise--Your comments are NEVER buried. They pop right up like good amaryllis will.

There's absolutely nothing not to love about Inaki. He's not too exciting, but with Monica there's no need. Excitement is attracted to her like a whirlwind.
