HIJAS -- Loon-es episode #38 --- Leo steals the show again in all of her scenes and wears another gorgeous dress.

The usual disclaimers. Some scenes combined for brevity and flow.

We open with Inés telling MS (madre superior) that she is in luuurrrrrve with Sebastian and has no plans to return to the convent. MS is appalled. It’s a mortal sin to be in love with your brother. Ines’ is undeterred.

MS tells Sebastian that she realizes that Ines’ is not really in love with “Sebastian”; she is in love with her “hero” who saved her… Twice now.

Turns out Octavio is Espinoza Paz’s cousin. Paz gets everyone free tix to his concert that night. The amoeba clan v2 is ecstatic. I’m not, because I have no clue who this guy is.

Teresa and Barbara are taking Petunia the Goat to be sold, but they are stopped by Petunia’s newest BFF, Leonora. Apparently both the human stubborn female has bonded with the stubborn goaty female. Peas in a pod. Later, Leo is having girl talk with Petunia and that chicken she is holding about her problems. Probably because they won’t talk back to her. Good decision, Leo. Cute scene, nonetheless.

Sol realizes she really is pregnant, after consulting her calendar. Another Telenovela Bingo square checked off today, if anyone is playing, when Sol says, “NO PUEDE SER.”
When she tells Octavio, he freaks out and says he is not ready for a kid. Sol takes this as rejection. So does “Suegrita” because she buzzes a table lamp and gently smacks him with the door.

The doctor says Inés tests reveal there is no brain nor neurological damage. This recapper begs to differ, but I digress. He says Inés still needs several more days of rest.

Barbara lets her mother pierce her ears as part of Project Makeover to Win Mauricio.

Javier gives JuanO the 2.5million pesos ($130,000 USD) for the hospital bill. Later, he is depressed and admits to Margarita that he mortgaged his house to get the money.

Sebastian & Leonora have a convo about Inés’ crush on HER BROTHER Sebastian, and he throws out the question, “Are you sure Ines is my sister?” It takes Leo back for a second and she does not answer.

Later, Leo wants Sebastian to go to the Espinoza pas concert with her, not telling him it is in hopes of bumping into Stefi there. Shortly thereafter, Vic calls Seb and tells him to NOT go to the concert; that is the only way Stefi will go. Oh my, this is just so junior high.

Later on, Inés is back at JuanO’s place. It is noted that her bed has no headboard except a large window. This is very bad Feng Shui. Might be why all her energy is negative. Just saying.

Dario meets JuanO in the parking garage (I think that’s what it is), with his evil attaché case of cash and Mexican greek chorus in the background, and repeats the offer to bail out the hotel, etc., if JuanO will make Seb marry Stefi. JuanO, ever the gentleman, declines.

When did commercial breaks go from 3 minutes to the now 4-5 minute stretches?

AT THE CONCERT

Barbara shows up in her Project Makeover to Win Mauricio “luke”, wearing platform wedge sandals, scoop-neck minidress, hair in a cute ponytail, and a (gasp!) smile, looking muy feminine and guapa.

Sebastian shows up anyway to the concert. Vic sees him and goes to make him leave. I think Sebas just wants smoochies with Vicky. They don't, because soon she notes that Stefi has gone missing. Big search ensues. Yawwwn.

Inés is having bad dreams, she wakes up, hollering for Sebastian. JuanO comforts her. Leo is not a happy camper.

That is pretty much it. If anyone can fill in more details, please add to this.

VOCABULARIO (because it’s all about Spanish, right?)

“bocón”- big mouth; loudmouth, as in Octavio es un bocón.

This episode is sort of a snoozer. Its
The sameO sameO. JudyB your recaps make it bearable.

The storyline with Inez in love with her bro is so incredibly boring. Is it
Filler? It be bad filler!

Why is Leo talkin to a goat,a chicken?
Chickens have it bad enough. They're
Gonna end up on somebodies plate. And
Their last memory is a human telling them their problems. That is cruel and
Unusual punishment. Poor chicken. And
They thought we'd want to see it too.
This show is starting to be cruel and Unusual punishment. But I want to see the end.

Did sol and Mau do the dead for her to be pregnant? Or is this some comic emaculete conception thingy by the uni
People? Whatever.

Thank you JudyB.

O sorry Rev Chick. I took it for granted that JudyB did the recap, like all the others. What I said about her goes for you too.You make it bearable.

HIJAS

First, continuing support and empathy for Judy and Anita from the last thread. You and the friends you lost are in my prayers.

doris, it seems as though Leo's fashion sense is ongoing. What a relief at least something is going right...

What a great recap!

Why am I sorry I'm not watching this?: "Apparently both the human stubborn female has bonded with the stubborn goaty female". Shaking my head that I missed that!

Why I'm a bit relieved I'm not watching this: "It’s a mortal sin to be in love with your brother. Ines’ is undeterred". Well then...

And Nina, I have to quote: "Why is Leo talkin to a goat,a chicken? Chickens have it bad enough. They're Gonna end up on somebodies plate. And Their last memory is a human telling them their problems". Marvelous.

“bocón”- just grand fun all the way around doris. Gracias.

Diana

YMSOD finale will be on Friday December 20. Univision will combine 2 episodes for 1 don't know when.

Mini-series La Fuerza de Creer will air on Monday December 23.

HIJAS

Fast and funny, DORIS. My favorite combination. First off, yes, our gal Leonora was looking fab again. I'd happily take at least 3/4 of her wardrobe from this show. And I was very touched by her growing affection for Petunia and the hens. Even though, as you pointed out, the goat is as stubborn as she is, and all the animals are 'good listeners" since they never talk back. Well, yeah...who needs a therapist if you have a pet?

Loved this:

doc says Ines has no brain or neurological damage. Recapper begs to differ.

and this:

no headboard except a large window--very bad Feng Shui. Accounts for the negative energy.

Would never have thought of that. You Clever Lady!

I think Dario and Juan were meeting in Juan's ruined hotel. Dad Dario really loves to rub it in. What struck me about the meeting though was that Dario was actually tastefully dressed for a change. No sad plaids or depressing drabs.

And Barbara--Wow. Definitely "cleans up nice" and I'm very happy to see her smiling for a change. Love can work wonders.

Thanks so much for doing this. The calling hours were bittersweet. It was good to see Molly's children and grandchildren, and look at the photos of her and her husband ( who also died young) when they were first married, and then later as young parents.
The aging process is inexorable and a constant reminder that our bodies are "borrowed" and Mother Nature is going to be calling them back in very soon. Wish Life were different but it is not. So it's a blessing to have dear friends both in one's real life and one's virtual CarayCaray life. Love to one and all....and thank you again Doris.

HIJAS

Doris, thank you for a fun and very funny recap.

"Espinoza Paz’s cousin. Paz gets everyone free tix to his concert that night. The amoeba clan v2 is ecstatic. I’m not, because I have no clue who this guy is." Neither do I, but I'm hoping that is all we will see of him. Nothing against him personally, it's just that I don't like these "celebrity" appearances in shows where everybody thinks the celebrity is almost god-like.

They did this one decently, there wasn't a whole lot of fawning and such, so no great complaints. Perhaps it helped that I didn't pay much attention and sped through... well, most of the show.

I continue believing that Leonora is the mainstay of this show; the bits with the animalitos are great, and she's always fun to look at.

And, wow!, so was Barbara! What a difference!

Doris, thanks again,

andy

MAÑANA [12/09/2019] (part 1 of 3)

Turning Point!

[some scenes condensed, others evaporated]

Pablo is in the house, quietly searching for Regina. He finds the room where Regina has barricaded herself, and that has lots of wadded paper ready to burn up against the door. He softly calls for Regina and she answers. He is here.
And Maggie? asks Regina.
"I'm here, mi amor, I haven't left." She had just quietly returned to put a gun at the back of Pablo's head.

La Bizcochito arrives outside her hotel room, talking on her phone, leaving a message for Camilo and, as it turns out, putting her foot in her mouth. She opens her door and is about to enter but stops to finish leaving her message. Amazingly Rafa and Iñaki have just arrived behind her and listen as she says that if the reason Camilo is not answering her calls is that he doesn't believe she is sorry for having defended Rafa she is willing to prove it to him, any way he wants.
She turns around to close the door and sees Rafa and Iñaki and, in case we missed it, the music tells us that the guys are not impressed with her.

RRRCW Maggie has a gun pointed at Pablo and is threatening to shoot him if he doesn't cooperate. She takes him and Regina down the stairs and finds Manuel and Adrian and now has them at gunpoint as well. Out of nowhere Camilo comes behind her and knocks the gun to the floor. Adrian recovers it and finds it's a toy gun. (It sounded like a plastic gun when it hit the floor, but earlier just before she put the gun to Pablo's head there was a somewhat realistic sound of the gun being cocked. More suspenseful I suppose, but...)
Maggie is unconscious and they will have to take her to the hospital.
Regina thanks Pablo for saving her. Oh, and thanks to you other guys too, whoever you are.

Rafa asks Almudena what she meant, was she saying that Camilo was right about him? She denies that, saying that it was just her "strategy" for dealing with Camilo.
Rafa and Iñaki leave, not too happy with her. But Iñaki tells Rafa that they both know Almudena loves him, it's just that she has had eyes only for Camilo since she arrived.

Diana is on the phone with Monica, filling her in about what happened and letting her know Cristóbal is OK.
Camilo, Regina, and Pablo arrive at casa Sarmiento and everybody is overjoyed to see her. Pablo says goodnight and Regina thanks him for saving her and gives him a kiss (on the cheek, but getting closer) and a hug.

MAÑANA [12/09/2019] (part 2 of 3)

Diana and Camilo are in the kitchen, she compliments him on acting decisively even though he didn't know the gun was a toy; he's such a great father. It's a romantic moment and they are arm in arm and then face to face and then Camilo goes in for a kiss... and is interrupted by Regina coming into the kitchen to ask Diana if she can sleep with her tonight. There goes the possible reconciliation kiss. Diana agrees, of course, poor Reggie went through a lot. Later Nico and Cristóbal join them in bed and it's Diana and her happy family, and Diana tells them all, Nico mostly of course, a story about a family of sardines who lived in a can. Then they have a pillow fight and, finally, they all go to sleep in the big bed. Camilo listens happily for a while and then goes to sleep in Regina's bed.

We see scenes of happy people sleeping together, Diana and all her kids, Monica and Camilito, Malicio and Ximena. Oops! Not so happy these last.

Malicio wakes up with Ximena who tells him that things didn't work out, "Monster" didn't rise to the occasion; he says no, can't be, she says yes, it couldn't, and gets up and leaves.
Poor Malicio is devastated (couldn't happen to a nicer guy, but I am almost feeling sorry for him) and then arrives home where frustrated, scantily clad Barbi has been waiting up for him and starts undressing him. I thought she would start ripping his clothes off, but she actually did unbutton things as far as we saw.
We also saw just a little later a very disappointed, still virginal Barbi.

Monica is on the couch with Camilito who is happily chewing on her toes. Then it's Fantasy Camilo playing with her footsies and tickling them. She tells Camilo to go away, and Camilito to stop biting her feet. Camilo the Elder leaves, but Camilito keeps after her toes. She texts Iñaki that she has to meet with him and Rafa tomorrow in the war room.

Maggie is taken to the hospital, and Manuel is given news of her condition by Dr Juan. You remember him, Diana's oncologist? Hoy!
Anyway, Maggie is a nervous wreck and they have to run a bunch of tests and run up the bill some before they can give a definite diagnosis and prognosis.

Ximena arrives home and goes in to talk with Monica. Malicio did not suspect a thing. Ximena thinks that with the info from Malicio's phone they have enough to expose him.
Ximena wants to know if Monica expects to return to MediaLink after this. Monica replies, No, she doesn't.
She is really doing this for MediaLink, she put a lot of her life into that company, she doesn't want to see it fail. She does also want to regain Camilo's respect, but professional respect, not personal. Monica herself is surprised by what she just said.

After this experience and Camilo's rush to judge her, and then his disdain for her, she has become very disillusioned with him.

OK, folks, let's all say it together because we have been waiting for it a long time: Turning Point!

MAÑANA [12/09/2019] (part 3 of 3)

Almudena arrives in the morning and walks into casa Sarmiento (Do they never lock their door?) in time to see Diana coming down the stairs in her PJ's.
Almudena is surprised to see Diana back there. Diana asks, Why?, after all she is Camilo's wife. An unhappy Almudena leaves.

Lidia brings Manuel a sandwich in the hospital. Manuel is polite with her, but seems more worried about Maggie.
Later, on the phone, Lidia tells Luis that it's all a shame as she's still in love with Manuel. Manuel overhears, but doesn't seem too interested or sympathetic.
He tells her that the petition to get her criminal record expunged would require her to pursue a case against Margarita, IF I understood this correctly, and Lidia doesn't want to add to his troubles right now.

Malicio has totally misunderstood "How To Win Friends and Influence People" and he goes around the office yelling at people and demanding that they call him "Licenciado Romero" rather than Malicio (or, as he pronounces it, Mauricio).

In the war room the staff goes over Monica's evidence against Malicio and they are all excited. They now have a name and number for Malicio's partner in crime.
Iñaki gets on the phone and pretends to be some shady business type who needs Damián's services, he was recommended to him by a friend. He is willing to pay well for these services, which is music to Damián's ears. They set up a meeting.

Rafa wants to know how she got Malicio's phone because Malicio has embarrassing pictures of Paloma on his phone. Monica tells him Ximena got the phone for her.

Rafa texts Ximena that he would like to talk with her; she is excited thinking he is romantically interested in her.

Camilo finishes looking at the partnership agreement and accepts Malicio's proposal to become a partner in the business. They hug and call each other "Socio!"

Malicio still has a little unfinished business with Damián, his hired hacker. He pays him the last installment of what he owed him. Damián is happy and thinks they should celebrate Malicio's new position. Mal says, What, party with hired scum like you? You have been paid, and now I don't ever want to see you again.
Damián looks like he has just bit into the world's nastiest lemon. (But I'm sure Damián subscribes to the "Evil Henchmen Code of Conduct" and would never turn against his former patron. Right?)

Diana receives a disappointing call from the home, doña Meche is not interested in seeing her; but Meche does tell our Cute Nice Receptionist she does wish that that cute young unwed mother would come back to visit her.

Barbi is at casa Sarmiento and on the phone with Malicio, she informs him that they have an appointment with the counselor and he hangs up on her. She is muy annoyed but puts on a happy face for Diana, Chabe and Eugenia. She acts like a happy, proud wife and tells them about Mal becoming a partner at MediaLink.
Diana is surprised.

(Barbi is looking very good, by the way. Malicio's problem must be serious.)

== and here the episode ends ==

MAÑANA

Thank you for another great andycap, Andy! Turning point indeed. Finally!

I loved:
---"There goes the possible reconciliation kiss." a/k/a Besos Interruptus
and
--"Evil Henchmen Code of Conduct" (LOL)

Today I watched some of this episode, what was most of your part 2 and saw little Camilito. Oh what a cute puppy! Really cute. 🐶

Is there any way BSC (Bat Sh!t Crazy) Maggie can be locked up in the manicomio for a long time? Seriously. that girl is cray cray.

MANANA

So much to savor andy.

"Camilo listens happily for a while and then goes to sleep in Regina's bed".

"they have to run a bunch of tests and run up the bill some before they can give a definite diagnosis and prognosis". Of course they do - eye roll.

"She does also want to regain Camilo's respect, but professional respect, not personal. Monica herself is surprised by what she just said". Did dramatic music play? A very pivotal moment.

Laughed at "Evil Henchmen Code of Conduct" but Diana's mother rejecting her again was sobering.

You're flourishing andy. You've now joined the ranks of natural born recappers. Congratulations.

Diana

MAÑANA

Another funny, very enjoyable recap, ANDY. Love your sense of humor. Plus felt a real kinship when I read this:

[some scenes condensed, others evaporated]

Oh yeah, sometimes, as I sit at the keyboard and look back at my scribbled notes, I see I completely forgot some key scene and I'm like HOW did that happen? Scary.

Also loved this:

Malicio has totally misunderstood "How To Win Friends and Influence People" and he goes around the office yelling at people and demanding that they call him "Licenciado Romero" rather than Malicio (or, as he pronounces it, Mauricio).

Also glad to hear that you are getting some serious eye candy not only with Almudena but the desperately virginal Barbie. I'm sure her therapist is going to be very happy to help her deal with her frustration eventually. But in the meantime, the hard-working recapper needs some perks for all the work he's doing.

Thanks as always. And hope your heating is still chugging along effectively.

HIJAS

Thank you Doris. Among others, "Paz gets everyone free tix to his concert that night. The amoeba clan v2 is ecstatic. I’m not, because I have no clue who this guy is." and "Paz gets everyone free tix to his concert that night. The amoeba clan v2 is ecstatic. I’m not, because I have no clue who this guy is." were tops!

Barbara looked nothing like herself! Wow! Even her speech improved! Ni-i-i-ce.

So Sol doesn't need a to go to a doctor because she is a trained professional nurse and she knows all the symptoms of pregnancy. PFFFT we'll see about that, SO-Lame

MANANA

Andy. a very entertaining recap and I just luvved "OK, folks, let's all say it together because we have been waiting for it a long time: Turning Point!" It's. About. Time! and had to chuckle at "Malicio has totally misunderstood "How To Win Friends and Influence People" and he goes around the office yelling at people and demanding that they call him "Licenciado Romero" rather than Malicio "

"Damián looks like he has just bit into the world's nastiest lemon. (But I'm sure Damián subscribes to the "Evil Henchmen Code of Conduct" and would never turn against his former patron. Right?)" I can;t stand Malicio, but it was very stoopid of him to drop Damian like that, especially knowing that Damina has all the evidence to ruin him. I hope Damian BURNS him to a crisp!

OT

Alexander, thank you for the info on "La Fuerza de Creer." I looked it up and it seems that it has a total of 7 episodes (2 eps. in Season 1 and 5 eps. in Season 2). Is that correct?

HIJAS and MANANA
I don't know why, but these blend together too easily in my mind--and probably only because they are both on in the afternoon, denoting fluff entertainment (?)

Thanks to the recaps which I've been reading before watching the episodes in the evening, I know exactly what is going on and can FF>> through most of the two "hours." For that I must thank JudyB, Doris and AndyMeisterCapper.

THE TURNING POINT
At last.
1. For it to be a done deal, Monica must change the name of her oh so cute puppy.
2. Pablo and Regina have a baby--I'm not for teenage pregnancies, but Regina is so mature for her age and probably would be a better mother than Diana.
3. Licenciado Romero must be taken down and become Malicio sin Monstro that works again.
4. Manuel has to get the charges against Lidia reversed and to 7734 with La Loca.
5. Whom do we hook up Jimena with. She's a pistol, no doubt about it. Few men we've seen in this show are up to her level. It may be a foregone conclusion she ends up soltera, but I think she'd like to have a permanent relationship.

HIJAS
Thank goodness for all the filler with Pax or whatever his name was to concentrate on Leo and the chicken and the goat. At first I thought the chicken was a perfect taxidermy specimen, but then I saw the chicken blink a couple of times. They must have sedated the grain she was eating.

How on earth will Seb get out of the clutches of Inez? She looked quite pretty sitting up in bed at home. I hope her amnesia goes away soon so they can get back to the original problem of persuading her there's no future in being in love with Seb.

THANKS for all your kind thoughts about my neighbor. Our kids grew up together, but weren't close friends as they got older because her kids went to parochial school and mine went to public school so they had different circles of friends. The two of us palled around together as young divorcees, then she met the man of her life. He was easy going and perfect for her and her 5 kids. She stayed home while I finished school and began a career. We remained friends and could pick up wherever we left off when we got together.

HIJAS

Oh Anita, "At first I thought the chicken was a perfect taxidermy specimen, but then I saw the chicken blink a couple of times".

Without any exaggeration, I tell you that I belly laughed at my desk for a good 2-3 minutes. One of the funniest things I've ever read. Flat out hysterical. Just what I needed as a mid-afternoon pick me up.

Thank you, thank you.

Diana

HIJAS #39 WHEN YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A GOAT, AND YOUR BEST HANGOUT IS A LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU'RE IN TROUBLE LADY!

Part 1

Yes, our well-dressed Leonora, has fallen on hard times. She's no longer chatting with her coven of hags, but rather perched on a stool in the laundry room, feeding heavily mayonnaised sandwiches to Petunia. The turkey sandwich diet is supplemented by an occasional dress or two.

And an occasional terrible idea.

Like arranging for Sebastian and Estefania to re-meet for a romantic dinner at the yacht where he first proposed matrimony. It was a disaster on every level, for them, and for Leonora. Maybe not "a turning point" like in ANDY'S recap yesterday. But a pretty rough development for all concerned.

But not everything was gloom and doom. Things are looking up for the Soledad-Octavio romance. She was bummed after his frigid reaction to impending fatherhood yesterday. But today, our adorable and muscular! guy is sawing, hammering, sanding and polishing up a little cradle for his baby to be. What's not to love?

And things are also looking up for la Dolorosa. After a jolly dinner with Espinoza Paz, the latter gets on board with the Pack to help them resurrect the bar. After all, he's from Sinaloa and has a lot of pals there who can supply building materials. All the folks on site have to do is get to work. Which they do. Pretty soon the bar is rising from the debris like a phoenix from the ashes. Pretty fast turnaround, I must say. Almost miraculous.

If you didn't watch this, you may be wondering how Steffi and Seb came to meet at the yacht. So here goes: Leo arranges for a huge bouquet of roses to be sent to Steff, along with a note asking her to meet Seb at their special place. And Mundito is also dispatched to invite Sebastian to the same place for a meeting. After that, it all goes badly. Steffi is smiling and hopeful. Seb is perturbed and puzzled. Over dinner and wine (which Steff can't drink because of her medication) they find out it was all a trap, sprung by someone else. But who? Steffi is heartbroken a second time. Annoying Juana Victoria arrives late to the party and just gets in the way. And Leonora ends up receiving a lot of "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" as Steffi, Sebastian and even Dario learn of her scheme and turn against her. Good thing Petunia is always ready to welcome her back with unconditional love. At least as long as she comes prepared with sandwiches.

HIJAS #39 WHEN YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A GOAT, AND YOUR FAVORITE HANGOUT IS A LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU'RE IN TROUBLE LADY!

Part 2

We have our usual round of itty bitty stories. Sol is now eating like a stevedore, first devouring the chocolates that were Mundito's payoff, then a couple of "tortas ahogadas" for a nighttime snack, and before you know it, she'll probably be scoring some of Petunia's sandwiches.

Juana Barbara has managed to infect her newly pierced ears and is still having trouble walking in heels--but the latter problem leads to an interesting accident. While trying to join the others in resurrecting la Dolorosa, she pitches over right into Fernando's arms. What follows next is a full 60 seconds of the LOOK. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Wide-eyed, Wowza, My Here, My Now, My Everything" LOOK. I think we can conclude now that the Mauricio crush is over, and the Fernando fantasy is about to begin.

Meanwhile, the Sebastian fantasy is still going full throttle with Juana Inés. She really has become a human barnacle, leaping into Seb's arms whenever he appears, and latching on with all her might. She still hasn't recovered her memory, so doesn't realize that she's "the fourth Juana, daughter of Juan" and therefore off-limits to Brother Sebastian. All I can say is I agree with Barb's latest nickname "Inesia" (a play of Inés and "necia" [pain in the butt]. She and Juana Victoria are battling for first place in the All World All Time Annoying Category.

And then there's Dario. Have to say this is a second straight day of him being well-dressed. But otherwise, he's the same old scumbag. We see him meeting with Ernesto, who's complaining of loneliness, waiting to see arch-enemy Juan completely destroyed. Dario can't be bothered with empathy, or hanging out with the wretched man, but he does promise that soon Juan will be totally bankrupt.

Still, he seems ready and willing to bail out Juan financially if Sebastian will simply re-think his future and agree to marry Estefania. Sebastian is all outraged virtue as he points out he would never marry for money...only true love. And if Dario thinks otherwise, he doesn't know him!

Ah, but Dario DOES know him. And knows how much he loves his family. And therefore thinks that Sebastian might be willing to reconsider--and make not only Estefania happy, but his father as well--by reviving the Oropeza family fortune.

Another "turning point"? Well not yet. First, Sebastian is just really, really mad at his dad for not telling him about Dario's offer. Papi Juan says there was no point. He certainly would never sell out his son's happiness for money. And as long as he has two hands, two legs and a reasonably good head on his shoulders, he'll never stop fighting for the good of his family. For about the umpteenth time Sebastian whispers that Juan is the best dad ever! And that problem is whisked away. But the other problem-- his hawt burnin' love for annoying Vicky and her passion in return-- has got them both in a living hell.

So let's talk about Vicky. I know...do we have to? Well, she was in and out of scenes tonight. First Steffi wanted nothing more to do with her. And Dario vowed that from now on HE would take care of his little princess. But a bit later in the episode, Steff did an about-face and wanted Vicky back at her side again. Yes, she admits that Vicky isn't her mama, and she's not a child anymore...but she needs her friendship and support to get through this heartbreaking time.

And while we're talking heartbreak...wah wah...let's focus a bit on Mauricio. He's looking wan and drawn, even as la Dolorosa springs back to life. And why? because Inés hasn't recovered her memory and therefore doesn't know that she's now in love with HIM! Umm, okay, if you say so.

HIJAS #39 WHEN YOUR BEST FRIEND IS A GOAT, AND YOUR FAVORITE HANGOUT IS A LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU'RE IN TROUBLE LADY!

Part 3

Let's get back to Leonora who is our most adorable villain. I mean even Juan defends her, pointing out to Juana Inés that before she found out about the four infidelities and four illegitimate daughters, they were very happily married indeed. And we do see her lovable qualities as she continues her chats with Petunia, who's now devouring big bills (as in money) and not offering a bit of change! But the disappearing money gives Leonora another great or greatly disastrous) idea. Sounding like a Prosperity Disciple, she heads out shopping, crowing "Merezco abundancia!" [I deserve abundance] Seems the heartless credit card companies don't agree, and when she tries to charge a bunch of clothing, her card is declined.

No puede ser!!!!!

And there we end. Definitely a Turning Point!

HIJAS

Judy, thank you for your wonderful recap. The title was clever and creative.

"She's no longer chatting with her coven of hags, but rather perched on a stool in the laundry room, feeding heavily mayonnaised sandwiches to Petunia". Now, that is something I rue I missed.

"So let's talk about Vicky. I know...do we have to?" Ahh, nopis. I don't think we need to now, do we?

"Wide-eyed, Wowza, My Here, My Now, My Everything" LOOK" - my favorite line that said absolutely everything. May we all experience this at least once.

"Steffi is smiling and hopeful. Seb is perturbed and puzzled" conveyed the emotions each of them were feeling perfectly. Horrible for them both, but seemingly especially so for Steffi who seems to have done nothing wrong and everything right.

Judy, you always convey the emotions and events beautifully. Although you are still grieving Molly, you still take time to craft this summary with great care and attention.

Thank you.

Diana

MAÑANA [12/10/2019] deferred until...?

{
A significant portion of today's episode was preempted by our local Univision station due to a shooting incident in New Jersey, in which at least six people were killed.
I will record tonight's rebroadcast to see if we missed anything really significant.

The interruption was muy interesting. At first the local channel put up a screen saying "Noticias 41" but nothing else happened for a while, and then the telenovela resumed.
Later they cut back to the NJ news room, but the people there didn't know they were on the air. The news reader was talking to a technician about his microphone and the lighting, he thought it was too bright. All this in English.
When he realized they were on the air he switched to Spanish and gave the news. He had a slight gringo accent but was so comfortable in Spanish that I'm sure he grew up bilingual.

Interesting, too, that this is what I was thinking about all the time while they reported on, literally, bloody murder. Fatal shootings are almost an everyday occurrence now, so I don't know if this incident affected the broadcast in other areas.

I expect Politicians will offers sympathy and sad thoughts and prayers and... nothing more.

HIJAS

Diana, thanks for your kind words. Molly's service was beautiful but sad. But one of the speakers mentioned the importance of Faith, Family and Friends, and it was such a good reminder. As well as the quote that "the lonely are put into families" and it reminded me that our Patio is a family of sorts and we can come with all sorts of thoughts and memories and it's okay to talk about them here. And we have loving listeners...like our sandwich-munching Petunia!

MAÑANA

ANDY...How dreadful. And like you, I'm sick of hearing "our thoughts and prayers are with you", while the undercurrent is still...NRA, Keep those donations coming!

The episode here in Ohio ran in its entirety, but I would rather wait for your recap than summarize it here. I wouldn't do it justice.

The 2nd one will air on December 23. No episode on the 24th, it will end on the 30.

HIJAS

Judy, I just love the title of your recap today!!! And, thank your or your recap. I did not have a chance to watch this today....y mañana será otro dia .... mejor (LOL)....and so I should have a chance to watch Hijas tomorrow.

Yesterday, Stefi went missing during the Espinoza Paz concert. Where did they find her? Or did she just reappear in a magical telenovela way?

Oh, I just love "Inecia"! That says it all.

" I think we can conclude now that the Mauricio crush is over, and the Fernando fantasy is about to begin."
Finally! Maybe she watched the closing credits and saw that they're paired up there.

What a relief that Octavio is on board with the baby, and building stuff for it. It's easy to see how an unplanned pregnancy could initially shock an unmarried man.

Thanks for the fun recap judy.

If tunia and her friends could talk, her and her friends would give the two
Footed animals some sage advice like:
Don't trust a crooked insurance perso(she stole his money ,don't fall in love with your brother who really isn't but she don't know that yet (Inez) . And don't go lookin for people out in a storm cuz you might get flattened by an raggedy sjgn. And my favorite:don't pass off another man's child as your husband's. Wise animals they are.

I wish they would change that Inez in love with Sebastian storyline. Not that interesting.

Leo is depressed to the point of down
Loading on those poor defenceless farm
Animals.
Barbara has a chance for love. She's out of those horrible boxing match clothes.

Jvick, things will get better for her.
And Sebastian. And Stefi. Soon I hope.

Thank you JudyB.

MAÑANA [12/10/2019] (part 1 of 3)

[The shooting was a terrible thing, but they didn't preempt as much as I thought.]

A Bad Day for Malicio

At casa Sarmiento Barbi acts like a happy, proud wife and tells Eugenia, Chabela, and Diana about Malicio becoming a partner at MediaLink. Diana is very surprised.

A little later Diana calls Monica and asks if Monica had known. She admits she had, they are trying to help Rafa and are still talking to people at MediaLink, please keep that to yourself.
Diana agrees, and Monica says she will go with them tomorrow to accompany Cristóbal to the rehab hospital.

A very chipper Ximena meets Rafa at what looks much like an old malt shop or ice cream parlor done in pastel colors and with a jukebox in the back. Ximena is all girly and giddy and talkative, because she has had a crush on him for a while. Soon enough she learns that he is in love with Paloma and the reason he wanted to get together with Ximena is that Monica told him she had helped hack Malicio's phone.
Disillusioned Ximena tells him that she didn't do it herself, some friend was able to hack his phone. The friend is now off traveling somewhere and not available.

Monica and Iñaki test some bugging devices that they will use when Iñaki makes his pitch to Malicio's hired hacker, Damián, they want a recording of the conversation on her cell phone. Now they are ready.

Iñaki meets with Damián and they talk "business". Damián might not be the brightest of evil henchmen despite his technical prowess because he starts bragging to Iñaki about how good he is, he managed to insert a virus into the system of a plastics company and shut them down for five days. Secret Agent Monica, again in disguise, is nearby recording everything.
This job, says Iñaki, involves dealing with a company's accounts receivables, etc. No problem, according to Damián, he just finished doing something like that.
Iñaki opens his briefcase, showing wads of cash, and says this is yours if you tell me all you did for Malicio at MediaLink.
Damián gets nervous and asks if he's the police. Not at all, says Iñaki, I just hate the guy because he did me and my family dirty.
I'm no friend of Malicio, says Damián, you can count on me.

Meanwhile, back at the recording studio where they never seem to finish recording anything, a frustrated Javiera halts the recording. It's no good. She talks with someone from the band and they realize the problem is that they don't have Chris on the keyboard (which is quite amazing as all he ever did was stand there as if stunned and didn't even really pretend well that he was playing).
Whatever.

Monica and Iñaki are waiting for Rafa to go over their plan. Ximena is going to stay in her room so as not to see Rafa, but then she comes back to take upside down San Antonio out of the cupboard to scold him a bit, and urge him to send her another galán, one not too fussy. [according to Srta CC Ximena said "copetudo"; I found various meanings all related to "lofty", "high hat" (old dictionary), "aristocratic", etc. Anyone else know exactly what she meant?]

MAÑANA [12/10/2019] (part 2 of 3)

Change of scene to the kitchen of los Sarmiento, and Diana is scooping out an avocado with all the kids working at other things in the kitchen. Nico wants them to all sleep together again. Diana thinks they should, then Regina says "Bolita!" and they all hug (no tickling?) Diana. [OK, another question. What is this? Something like "Apple core... Baltimore..."?]
Regina asks how long they are going to keep this going, Diana sleeping with all the kids, Camilo in another room. Diana says that she leaves tomorrow and Cristóbal, too, he will enter the hospital tomorrow. Camilo looks sad.

The A-team, Monica, Iñaki, Rafa, and Armando, listen to the recording Monica made and they are satisfied that they have the goods on Malicio

Ximena is depressed, still, over Rafa. Monica asks her why she won't give Armando a chance. Ximena is not enthused about Armando, he's not muscular like Rafa. (Ximena and JudyB have an interest in common! Who knew?)
Ximena says she'll get over Rafa, give her some time and then she'll do a makeover, and buy some new underwear, and find another guy.

Camilo and Diana accompany Cristóbal to the rehab center and say a tearful goodbye. Monica shows up with some inspirational books for him and a big hug.

Malicio is all ready for his ascension to partner in the business, but it doesn't help his disposition any and he goes around MediaLink spewing venom. Among other things the wine served at the brindis for that upstart secretary, Monica, is simply not good enough for his party.

At the hospital Dr Juan, oncologist and doctor of all specialties, asks RRRCW Maggie if she really doesn't remember anything about what happened. Nope, she doesn't remember anything. But she turns to Manuel, at her bedside, and asks him if he'll be with her as always. He takes her hand, and we see his wedding ring, and he says he will.
Dr Juan and Manuel discuss her case, she was on psychiatric meds to keep her from going off her rocker, on them for years, Manuel doesn't know if she has been taking them lately. Dr Juan opines that she will need lots of loving care.

At MediaLink, in a conference room, a nervous Malicio and a lawyer and witnesses, all wait for Camilo. He finally arrives and they can do the partnership deal. Camilo waives reading all the legal stuff, he just wants to get to signing the documents.
Everything in order, Camilo gets the papers to sign and is just about to when Nora enters and says that someone is here to see Malicio. They have "un mandato para realizar una auditoría fiscal", which I take to mean they are charged with doing a fiscal audit of Malicio. [I have no idea how they do such things in Mexico, whether they are police or what.]
Anyway, Malicio's assets are frozen and the partnership signing is cancelled for now. He makes a desperate call to his "buddy" Damián. They are still on good terms, right?

Almudena surprises Monica, who is entering her building, and accuses her and Diana of setting a trap for her in the restaurant (which they did do). But Monica plays her and makes a deal with her, an alliance against their common enemy Diana. They shake on it, but Monica has has fingers crossed which we see a few times. OK, silly stuff.

MAÑANA [12/10/2019] (part 3 of 3)

Regina thinks back to the time she was at a disco and a friend introduced her to the hot guy of the moment, skateboard star and champion, "Killer". She was star struck and loved his attention, and let him encourage her to have a drink...
"How could I have been so stupid?" she asks herself.

Eugenia and Chabe are together and talking. Eugenia so enjoyed attending school with Regina she wants to continue and eventually go to university and also get Cristóbal back to school. Chabe scoffs and they make a bet on whether Eugenia actually follows through.

Cristóbal goes for his initial evaluation at the clinic. Guess who is his therapist? Dr Germán! (OK, at least it's not Dr Juan again). Initial interview includes going over his family support, etc., and Germán reads from Cristóbal's chart "... you have a sister, Bárbara Sarmiento, who recently got married."
So Germán is not unaware...

Javiera visits Luis at MediaLink to ask about Chris, he tells her about his going to the clinic voluntarily to dry out. She is impressed and gives him a thumb drive with Cristóbal's song on it. They recorded it.

Barbi arrives at MediaLink with champagne and two glasses, all ready to celebrate Malicio's new status. Malicio is in a foul mood, not only did he not get to sign the partnership papers, but now "they" are auditing him. [Don't ask me who "they" are because I don't know. Who can order an audit like that? It wasn't Camilo. Did Iñaki show some officials enough information to order a business audit? I know nothing, nothing. Camilo thinks it's bad timing, but no worse than that, but I assume that Malicio realizes "they" might find some dirty dealing.]

Anyway, nasty Muy Mal Malicio calls Barbi stupid and a few other things. Finally she has had enough, she calls him a "patán" and leaves. Finally, Barbi, finally!

Camilo goes to Diana and, embarrassed, he says he might need to mortgage the house, which is in her name.

Monica and Iñaki celebrate the beginning of Malicio's fall. They hug a few times and seem to like doing so.

Diana agrees to mortgage the house to save MediaLink which is about to run out of funds. She says to him, the house is in my name because you insisted on it, but it is really our house, it belongs to us both.

== and here the episode ends ==

HIJAS

DORIS...They found Steffi wandering in the streets after she disappeared from the Espinoza Paz concert. And I have to say that I found Espinoza Paz quite charming. We got some extended time with him at the dinner with everybody afterwards and he has a great smile and very personable manner. If you're going to try and inject some "juice" into a flagging story, he's a nice choice. I listened to one of his songs on youtube, it's the usual "drinkin' and thinkin'" about a perfidious female, but he may have better ones.

And I agree..."Inesia" is terrific. I love word plays like that.

NINA...I'm beginning to hope that there's a miracle and the animals DO talk! Our Leonora certainly needs some good advice. As does Juana Inés. As for poor Estefania, I just don't know what to say. Our perfect little gal is going from bad to worse, and the miss our gorgeous, upbeat blonde that she used to be. And like you, I'm very happy to see Juana Barbara out of those ugly boxeadora clothes, and released from that wretched hairdo.

MAÑANA

Wow, ANDY, you were right when you said we were at a "turning point" in this one. Mauricio is going down, Crazy Margie, at least is sedated for the moment, and this:

Regina thinks back to the time she was at a disco and a friend introduced her to the hot guy of the moment, skateboard star and champion, "Killer". She was star struck and loved his attention, and let him encourage her to have a drink...
"How could I have been so stupid?" she asks herself.

At last an explanation for the very strange, very baffling Regina pregnancy. Now what?

And you scamp, when Ximena griped about Armando not being as "musculoso" I thought, whoops...hope ANDY doesn't hear that. But yeah,I understood our little gal. Still, maybe she can find her own "turning point" and recognize Armando's good qualities.

Thanks ANDY. Above and beyond, watching this twice. You're a champ.

HIJAS

Judy- wouldn't it be wonderful if Petunia were to give Leonora some much needed advice or wisdom? Wasn't there a telenovela, ages ago, called MariMar where a dog actually talked to the heroine? LOL

MAÑANA

Another great andycap! Thank you.

Looks like Barbi might reach her own "turning point". It is time for Malicio's nefarious activities to be exposed.

Running late this morning since I had errands to run.

HIJAS

JudyB, thank you for another snarktastic recap. I think I'm looking forward to Leo's conversations with Petunia more than anything else in this show. I was afraid she was going to blame Petunia for that disastrous idea shehad to bring Steffi and Seb back together. It just seems odd to me that Leo has so much more patience with animals than she does with human beings.

MANANA

AndyB, you keep knocking these fabulous recaps as if you had done this for years! Thank you for sticking with this show and keeping us up to date. I am now trying to watch this as much as I can...and it's all your fault! :-)

I really enjoyed seeing Malicio's reaction when Nora walked in with the two auditors. Of, course everyone felt his wrath afterwards, but at least Barbi had her eyes wide open when he tore into her.

Andy, that should be "knocking OUT"

HIJAS

"It just seems odd to me that Leo has so much more patience with animals than she does with human beings."
RgvChick - maybe she grew up in a farm? 🐔🐄. She does not seem concerned anout these animals not being house trained. Chicken poo stinks, goat poo might, too. I know pig and sheep doody are horrendous. 😝

HIJAS

Doris, I couldn’t agree with you more! And goats and chickens could care less where they poop or who is watching. In those scenes, I always look around for any “evidence” but there is none. If they have found a way to house train those animals, I want in on whatever (method) they use.

Lol lol lol hahahaha. Pig doody
Indeed! Eeewwww

HIJAS #40 PYRAMID SCHEMES AND MANUFACTURED DRAMA, I SAY LET 'ER DROWN!

Part 1

Just kidding. Don't really want Sor Inesia to off herself in the ocean, but seriously, do they really think we're going to buy into this as a cliffhanger? C'mon writers!

Our other manufactured drama was the emotional kerfuffle between Soledad and Octavio. She's hesitant to accept his proposal of marriage, fearing it's just because she's pregnant. "And gosh! marriage is serious and we've only known each other a few months!," she adds.

I always find this argument fascinating. Frankly, I think unprotected sex is pretty serious and should not be undertaken with someone you don't know well enough to marry. Guess that's terribly old-fashioned and unimaginative, but for some reason it still makes sense to me. Oh well, new time, new ideas.

The episode begins with our trio of menfolk, Xavier, Juan and Sebastian, seemingly taking part in some pyramid sales job workshop. Inés is also with them, because Seb cannot peel her off his suit jacket. When the seminar leader throws a hapless fellow out for asking if it's a pyramid scheme, the echoing cries of "Fuera, fuera" seem to be jogging Inés' memory of the hurricane, and she goes into a major tizzy.

Back at the Blue House, she's being calmed with the usual nostrums of Universal Solvent Herbal Tea, exhortations to B.r.e.a.t.h.e. D.e.e.p.l.y and the inevitable "Todo va a estar bien". We hear that a lot this episode. Although nothing really gets better.

Seb and Juana Victoria connect briefly to brainstorm about ways for them to get back together. They're sure that once Inés remembers how Mauricio saved her life, she'll transfer her smouldering devotion to him--leaving Seb to pursue Vicky once more. Vicky is her usual bipolar over-the-top open-mouthed, bubbling out the wazoo excited about this possibility.

Please just tone this actress down! She seems to get more annoying with every episode.

Well, on to another crisis. You know the one, Leonora's utter shame and humiliation at having her credit card denied in the upscale boutique earlier. Juan, still fearing he'll trigger a heart attack, tries to minimize the situation. "Er, I just forgot to pay the bill, what with all the storm drama and such. Guess you didn't realize how bad it was, being off in sunny San Diego with Dario."

Leo's not backing down nor apologizing. She wants those dresses and she wants 'em now. So get cracking Señor Oropeza. After she flounces off, he puts his head in his hands and worries that HE'S the one going to have a heart attack.

Let's pause her and do a little vocabulary. So we can remind ourselves we're watching this tripe to learn or maintain our Spanish. When Juan hesitates to answer, Leo snaps "Le comió la lengua el ratón?" [Did the rat eat your tongue?]

Take notes class. This will be on the Final.

We also have another group meal with Espinoza Paz. (Sorry to note that Barb is back to her ugly hairdo.) We get some back story on the singer. He can understand the Juana Pack troubles, because he grew up poor and often didn't have enough to eat. He even "went up North" for a while, harvesting crops and washing dishes to try and better his life. After his mother died, when he was 13, he got serious about song writing and took her name for his musical group as a way of paying tribute to the mother he misses so much.

HIJAS #40 PYRAMID SCHEMES AND MANUFACTURED DRAMA, I SAY LET 'ER DROWN!

Part 2

In spite of the tea and breathing advice, Inés is very upset that Sebastian managed to tear himself away for a few minutes. Once he shows back up, she's all "WHERE WERE YOU???!!!!!" (I'm thinking if Mauricio sees the intensity of our little nun's devotion, he might re-think this romance.)

Meanwhile, Leo is back in the laundry room, trying to tie a bow around Petunia's head (for a good several minutes, the goat absolutely wasn't havin' it! but Leo finally prevailed). And finally she gets a call from her middle-aged coven and the gal pals are plenty sarcastic, crowing about her credit card woes and wanting to know if she needs to borrow some pesos. Not terrific friends, for sure. And wait until they spread the gossip about who Leo's hanging with now...because Petunia gave a great big BAAAAAAAAA during the conversation.

Well, back to Inés who figured prominently in this episode. She's got a serious case of ruffled feathers, eyeing Seb and Vicky suspiciously. WHY WERE YOU TOGETHER!? "Why not, sez Seb. We're siblings after all." I DON'T THINK SO! YOU DON'T LOOK AT EACH OTHER LIKE YOU'RE BROTHER AND SISTER. SOMETHING WEIRD IS GOING ON.

Seb and Vicky look appropriately guilty and nervous as hell. Wonder how long it's going to take Estefania to come to the same conclusion.

HIJAS #40 PYRAMID SCHEMES AND MANUFACTURED DRAMA, I SAY LET 'ER DROWN!

Part 3

Well, some time has passed because Juana Victoria is in a different Daisy Mae outfit and Estefania is in pink pj's. Vicky is crying. Steff wants to comfort her; they're sisters after all. And best friends too. Well, in spite of not wanting to load her down, Vick loads her down. We're bankrupt. No money. Hotel in ruins. Inés maybe has brain damage. There are outstanding debts. And no insurance.

No problem. Steff's response is "Don't cry. Everything's going to be okay." [todo va a estar bien]

Don't you just love it?

Okay. More Inés drama. Seb visits the good, all-purpose doc and wants to know if they can goose Inés' memory a bit. Absolutely not! It must unfold naturally.

Back to Square One.

But Sebastian drives her around town in his bright orange jeep and she starts to come unglued a bit as she sees the devastation and begins to remember her own dire straits after debris toppled her over. So Sebastian holds her close and says...all together now class "Todo va a estar bien."

HIJAS #40 PYRAMID SCHEMES AND MANUFACTURED DRAMA, I SAY LET 'ER DROWN!

Part 3

Another scene change: We're in Dario's office and he's back in his sad plaids. And talking with his henchie who shows him the latest video on social media of Espinoza Paz and the giddily excited Juana Pack, trumpeting the new, improved la Dolorosa, headed up by none other than our own Mauricio. Dario is fightin' mad. No way does he want his no-good son inheriting his fine business if the kid is working as a waiter in a bar. What A Loser! And God forbid that tourists start returning to Mazatlán and the Oropezas start making money again. No Way!

And now we find ourselves at Dario's mansion. Vicky and Steffi are excitedly discussing Steff's plans for the revamped menu at la Dolorosa. Previously it was pretty much pretzels and peanuts. But she's going to add hamburgers and hot dogs "comida de la raza" and bring things up to a higher level. (Okay, if you say so.) Dario overhears, partly because Vic has such a loud voice, but he comes in, thanks her for her good care and lays a load of cash on her. Vick nobly wants to return it but he insists. And good thing too, because that's the only way Papi Juan can pay off the bushel of designer dresses that Leonora wants delivered.

This all gets handled back at the Blue House in the kitchen. Seb's pretty much insisting that everyone continues to keep the news of their financial desperation from Mom because of her cardiac condition. And Vicky, mugging unmercifully as usual, is happy she can help her Dad pay off "la bruja's" purchases. Fernando also pitches in some money and we have a PSA for family unity plus an exuberant, multi-level hug with all the actors and actresses in the kitchen at the moment.

Although it isn't said out loud, I think we can assume that "Todo va a estar bien" with that kind of family unity and support. Yes, indeed.

Well, if it's all lovey-dovey there, it's a tough, tough world at the Tiempo Compartido seminar. A couple of hapless participants are humiliated and kicked out as not being good enough to represent the company as salespeople. But Juan is chosen as a kick ass kind of guy. Ditto for Sebastian and Xavier.

Sebastian thinks the workshop leader is an imbecile. And I have to agree with him. But looks like our trio is going to cough up the money for their "kit" and go out and try and sell for this shyster.

Some brief scenes: Octavio leads Soledad blindfolded in to see the crib he built. It's white and fully furnished with fluffy pink and white bedding and bumpers (the kind that are prohibited in the States as dangerous for suffocation). And that's when we have our proposal and hesitation.

So moving on, Leonora finds Inés lurking in Sebastian's room, leaving a big paper Valentine for her beau. Leo sets her straight. YOU CAN'T BE IN LOVE WITH HIM! HE'S YOUR BROTHER!

Inés runs screaming from the room. Which Leonora shrugs off. Ay yi yi, it's time she knew the truth, she notes.

Gotta say it. I just love Leonora. Yes, she's vain, shallow and a wretched spendthrift. But I like her style. No pussyfooting for our gal. No sir!

HIJAS #40 PYRAMID SCHEMES AND MANUFACTURED DRAMA, I SAY LET 'ER DROWN!

Part 4

Juana Inés flees the house after her unforunate confrontation with Mama Leonora. Papi Juan and the Pack are in their usual state of hysteria, blaming Leo (who blows them off) and quickly fan out into the town, shrieking INÉS INÉS INÉS INÉS INÉS INÉS!!!!!!!

They're looking everywhere but the one place that Inés goes when she's upset--a place where she can contemplate the great, rhythmic, rolling infinity of sea and sky. The rocky promontory near the beach.

Our little nun is pensive and calm as she steps into the ocean and quietly stands there, the waves swirling around her ankles.

And there we end.

I'm going to trust that you will not lose a minute's sleep over this seemingly worrisome cliffhanger. In fact I think I know exactly what you're thinking:

"Todo va a estar bien."

HIJAS

Your hot off the press recap was marvelous Judy.

"”Le comió la lengua el ratón?" [Did the rat eat your tongue?]” and “he's back in his sad plaids’ were among many favorites.

“Petunia gave a great big BAAAAAAAAA during the conversation” sounded like great fun. Perhaps there’s room on Animal Planet for a show featuring such an engaging personality. Petunia might have a very broad appeal. Leonora is obviously smitten.

I’ve no doubt that Inés will end up safe and sound. And no doubt of your talent and ability to make this somewhat sour brew fragrantly sweet. Your creativity is evident at every turn.

Gracias Judy.

Diana

HIJAS

JudyB, thank you for another of your great recaps. I have only read part of it because I have to run, but I did read some of it, and I have never been disappointed in any of your recaps.

Just one quick point: "Frankly, I think unprotected sex is pretty serious and should not be undertaken with someone you don't know well enough to marry."

I'm totally in agreement. And it's not just cultural or a matter of mores, we know today that really nasty little viruses and such have learned to love unprotected sex as a great way to propagate.

It's self-defense.

MAÑANA [12/11/2019] (part 1 of 2)

And the noose tightens

Iñaki tells Monica that his business interests are doing well, but his time here in Mexico is running short, and he will have to leave soon for Spain. Monica is saddened.
But he will leave a letter authorizing Rafa to sign the investment documents in his name if Camilo changes his mind and accepts his proposal to invest.

Malicio is muy upset because Camilo has a plan to save MediaLink without any investment from Malicio, he will mortgage his home. Malicio doesn't want him to do this, just wait a while until the audit clears him. Camilo says he can't wait, they have debts and payroll that must be met now, not later. Camilo does appreciate and won't forget Malicio's offer to invest in the firm. Secret Agent Pablo sees and hears all and dutifully reports all to the A-team. (AntiMalicio team?)

Diana arrives at casa Sarmiento for the family conference she has arranged. She tells the kids that Cristóbal is now in rehab.

Almudena smooth talks Camilo, we should go away together for a long weekend to help you relax. Moreover, she has contacts, she can find an investor for him, no need to mortgage the house.

Rafa arrives at Monica's to tell the A-team that he has just learned that Camilo is going to mortgage the house.
Monica decides she can't let Diana and Camilo mortgage their home because they could very well lose it with Malicio still at MediaLink. She gets Diana to her apartment and, with Rafa and Iñaki, she gives her the whole story of Malicio's treachery. Diana has a hard time believing that her now son-in-law is such a snake.

Regina, sporting quite a bit of lipstick, visits Meche again and tells her about the problems in her family, though still not telling her she is her own granddaughter.

Rafa talks with Diana, confirming the story and adding that Malicio has been with both Ximena and Paloma, and has an embarrassing video of Paloma on his cell phone. Diana thinks that this will crush poor Barbi, but Rafa tells her it's already not going as well as she thinks for Barbi. Malicio is still pursuing Ximena and Paloma.

Manuel talks with his lawyer and seems resigned to taking care of RRRCW Maggie.

Lidia plays with Nico and dresses him up as a luchador and they tussle but Lidia manages to unmask SuperNico.

Malicio continues being nasty and overbearing with the staff, especially Nora and Luis, who were talking about finally meeting each other's family. Malicio was so nasty that they decide to quit and go to tell Camilo. Camilo asks them to not quit, he will talk with Malicio. Luis still wants to tell Camilo the whole story and Camilo invites them to sit and tell him all. They do, and when they leave his office they are smiling. They see Malicio and annoy him by calling him "Mau" rather than "Licenciado".

(The dominoes are all lined up, all they need is a little push.)

Diana goes to see Barbi to talk to her about her marriage. Barbi comes clean: her marriage is a sham, they never went on their honeymoon, he slept elsewhere on their wedding night, and they have never had sex. But she will stay with Malicio, only because she wants to help unmask the rat -- and she will delete that naughty stuff on his cell phone for Paloma.

Camilo talks to Malicio, and chews him out harshly; afterwards Camilo has a pain in his left arm (#4 by my count, plus one in the chest, and counting).

MAÑANA [12/11/2019] (part 2 of 2)

Iñaki takes Monica to a fair that has a temporary amusement park, and there is lots of fun and squealing by Monica on the rides and bumper cars, and they have a great time.
But they intersperse these scenes with scenes of Barbi crying and thinking about her disastrous "marriage".

At the amusement park some young woman wants them to "marry" at an attraction for picture taking. She needs to recruit one more couple to do this and she will earn a trip to the beach, which she would love because she's never even seen the ocean. Nice fun-loving couple that they are, though not really a "couple", they agree.
The young woman and the photographer outfit Iñaki with a plastic top hat, and Monica with a, something on her head with a veil of sorts in the back, I don't know what it's called, and a bouquet of white paper flowers and they conduct a one-minute marriage ceremony, everybody laughing, and they promise to be together until the fair ends, and give each other huge plastic wedding rings. They finish with the Mexican tying the novios together custom, and done.
They are "married" and the officiating teenager says you may kiss the bride. Iñaki kisses Monica on the lips, taking her by surprise, but, after all, it is customary, perhaps even in a make-believe "wedding". The photographer takes pictures of the happy couple.
:-)

Barbi calls Paloma and apologizes for her past insults. She now knows the truth, everything, and wants to make amends and not let Malicio blackmail her; she will manage somehow to erase the video.
Paloma is grateful and tells her another thing. Malicio thinks that it's Voodoo that is preventing him from having relations with Barbi. Voodoo? asks Barbi.

Monica and Iñaki walk around the fair after the wedding and talk. Monica tells him that she would have liked to have a child. Iñaki says he could help with that, even if they had to do in vitro fertilization, and he would support them.
This rather stuns Monica. Of course, Dummy, says Iñaki, don't you know I am totally in love with you? [OK, he didn't really call her a dummy; so sue me.]
There is more chatter, but the long and the short of it is,
Iñaki: "Yo te amo profundamente." and Monica: "Te quiero muchísimo, Iñaki, pero no te amo."
OK, this is a conversation no telenovela fan needs translated; we get it. Poor Iñaki.

At home, jail-bait cutie Regina tells Diana that she has been visiting her grandmother. "No, not Tita, Mercedes. And we resemble her so much. She had an alcohol problem like Chris, she was a very young single mother like me. And she told me that the reason she doesn't want to see you is that she is afraid you will judge her. She traded you as a baby for a bottle of booze."
A shocked Diana asks if Mercedes knows Regina is her granddaughter. Regina shakes her head, no.

Iñaki tells Monica that he will be satisfied to continue being her friend, though it will be hard; what is happening to him is what happened to Monica with Camilo. They discuss it and decide they can handle it, they will be close friends.

Malicio returns home and gets into a big argument with Barbi. She goes to a stand by their bed and picks up something. She says, I found this under the mattress on your side of the bed. She shows him a small, crude doll with a very strategically placed pin (think where Malicio has been having a problem :)

Thank you, Judy, for another great recap of Tonteria 'R' Us!

Vicky was rocking those Daisy Dukes today.

Leo putting the bow on Petunia was an absolute hoot. This segment just cracks me up! Well, I need something to laugh at when I watch this show. And the chicken was in the background, watching, and probably glad Leo did not try to dress her up, too.

Honestly, I'm so glad Leo intervened on Inécia. I am so over them molly-coddling that girl. My granddaughter could have drawn a better valentine card. Gah.

Now someone needs to tell Leo they are broke. JuanO is an idiot for not being honest, and buying those dresses Leo does. not. need. They cannot keep up the lie forever.

Does anyone even buy timeshares anymore? I thought they went out of favor decades ago. I don't know anyone who uses those, anymore, or else they're just not talking about it.

Thank you, Andy, for another great andycap! And .... squee! ... I watched this show today, from the luchador dress-up scene until the end.

You are right about the dominoes set up, just need that little push.

Finally Barbi was honest with her mother about her sham of a marriage, no thanks to Malicio. Hopefully the scene where she dumps him will be entertaining. He is such a donkey's rear end!

That definitely looked like a voodoo doll, but I was watching on a smaller screen and could only guess where the pin was stuck. ;-) But .... he had no trouble with Ximena on the noche de bodas, right? so when was the voodoo doll commissioned into action?

Paloma seems to have really matured, judging by her phone convo with Barbi. I can see why you've been cutting her some slack.

This really is getting good, and I may well have to commit the time to watch the rest of it. Thank you again, Andy, for keeping us updated and making it easy for me to know what's going on when I watch!

Those statements said everything. And perfectly.

Excellent. Thank you.

DIANA...Yes, our sweet Petunia is the star of the show. She would probably be your favorite character if you could watch this. And certainly less annoying than Juana Victoria and Juana Inés who are becoming tiresome indeed. Thanks for always supporting this blog site even though you can't watch. You are a doll.

ANDY...We'd better be careful--we're agreeing on a lot of things lately! But it is baffling how in these stories, out of wedlock pregnancies always occur and everybody is over the moon happy that a child is on the way (and who knows? perhaps an STD) In a world where I see people carefully wiping off the handles of their grocery carts, we still have a plethora of unprotected sex with people who hardly know each other. Curiouser and curiouser.

DORIS...The last people I knew who had time-shares (and it was in Mexico) had their apartment wiped out in one of the hurricanes 20 years ago. But for all I know, the business of selling them may still be going on. In the meantime, yes...Yay Leonora and her straight talk, and Yay Petunia. When goats and chickens are stealing the show, you've got a script problem writers!

MAÑANA

ANDY...Thanks for another fine, witty recap of a much improved show. And for sure Iñaki and Monica are going to end up together--in spite of that te amo/te quiero bit. Why? Because we have a scene of them at an amusement park. That's a real tip-off. I can't count the number of times I've seen that number, it seems to be a favorite of the writers (along with roses on the bed, and the high-class partner enjoying street food with his naco lover). So give over, Monica, it's a done deal girl.

And whoa! Regina sporting quite a bit of lipstick!!??? sounds like it's a done deal with her swain also.

Love reigns! All good. Thanks ANDY.

MAÑANA

Judy, we have to add "Amusement Park Scene = they will end up together" to the telenovela rules. I never noticed,,,or paid attention to that. Wow. Just ... wow.

IIRC, though, there was such a scene in MMTF with Dani & Gabe at some Park and, yes, they ended up together. Wow, this is a big revelation to me. (Better living through forums. It takes a village. Etc. LOL)

We woke up to 25°F but with a warming trend. High today will be a balmy low 50s. Might be shorts weather. ;-) (Not!)

"When goats and chickens are stealing the show, you've got a script problem writers!"
Isn't that the truth!?! More telenovela wisdom this morning. ;-)

JudyB, SNARKTASTIC!! Thank you! and when I read, "Vicky is her usual bipolar over-the-top open-mouthed, bubbling out the wazoo excited about this possibility." I cracked up! What a perfect description. I'm sorry, but Michele is really over-doing it with the dumb, yucky haired bimbo act.

And then there is Inecia clinging onto Seb's arm...oh puh-lease!

Absolutely love Petunia! She is definitely sthe highlight of these episodes. I'm still expecting her little patootie to fire a few bullets :-)

MANANA

Andy, muchas gracias! I watched just about all the episode. Barbi hasn't been my favorite character, but I felt for her when she finally admitted that her marriage was a farce...and then to find out everything else Malicio had done. Pobrecita! But I do love that she is not falling apart and wants a payback. The voodoo doll was priceless!

JudyB, great recap. One of my favorite
Things you said, "New times New ideas"
That's how some think. Nothing wrong
With being old fashion. Some New ideas about some things never good. But to each their own. Now back to the nut family.

What's really stupid is they are letin
A dead person dictate to them that they Ought to procreate. These People
Are nutz. With a Z.

Inez is kind of annoying. Gettin on my
Last nerve. Hurry, move it right along.

Plaid guy is at it again. Jvick really
Took the moola? Guess so. Moma gettin
New dresses.

Leo's friends are kinda stupid. Callin
And Makin fun of her plite. Don't like her any More so why not just leave her along? Stupid ex-friends.

This comment is late cuz I just got done reading the recap after a long day of rest. Sorta. Judy your talent for fun Recaps is just wonderfully funny. Thanks for brightening an otherwise boring day.

HIJAS

Thanks NINA. You always brighten my day as well!

RGV CHICK...Always relieved when someone finds an actor's portrayal as annoying as I do. Otherwise, I might just be a cranky old dame, right!? No, Michelle is seriously over the top in this one, but I'm sure some of the blame must go to the director who evidently wants her to play the part this way.
