El Dragón #53, 12/13/19: The Slippery Slope

Good evening my patio peeps, hopefully this evening's episode is fast and painless. After last week, I had to take a much needed break from this story, after recapping such a dark episode, I needed a breather. So I spent the entirety of this afternoon catching up on the weeks episodes to bring myself up to speed in the story. We left off with poor Hector laying shot on the floor, Chisca, maybe having an epiphany after realizing what a wreck her life is, Dora, going rogue and trying to take back El Salado, Kenia dumping Jorge because her past caught up with her, and finally Adela and Miguel are together. Rosario having been instructed to move all of Adela’s things into Miguel’s room. Now…onto Friday night.

In my opinion Hector was shot too many times to live, but the damage from the bullets looks about as bad as Chisca’s single shot. Of course Claudia freaks out, and the crowds stand around being looky-loos, but no one does much of anything.

Miguel confronts Dora about her lie about being in Cancun. I mean she basically came in and told them that she is the boss. I am liking her less and less. At first she was bad ass, now she is just trying to cover up a dead man's sins, and stick to the old ways no matter the cost. She and Miguel get into it over her being there, why she went without telling anyone, why she went in the first place. Miguel tells her that he can take care of it. That no one asked her to get involved. Dora says that she wanted to get involved. That the people of Ciudad Jimenez are nervous about their security and future, after everything that happened with Zaragoza. Dora tells Miguel about how important the Garza are to CJ, not just the business, but that they help take care of the community. Dora tells Miguel about her meeting with Sandro about not making sure that the area was taken care of, but she fails to mention that she asked him to take care of Epigmenio. They argue over her being scolded by Miguel and before he can finish speaking she hangs up on him. Miguel asks Peligros if he can count on him even against Dora. P tells him yes, but that he doesn’t want to be put in that position. To which Miguel answers that he doesn’t want it to get to that either, but he wants to be sure.

In the hospital with Hector, Claudia is following him and the doctors down the hall and somehow Ana is already there, telling him to hold on. Looking at the two women, Claudia and Ana, it is hard to believe they tried to make us believe that they are of an age, and that Hector went to school with Claudia. She looks about ten years younger than Ana, at least here. But as far as I could research, they are about the same age. Both more than 10 years younger than our dear Hector.

Miguel and Adela are in full couple mode as Miguel tells Adela that Jorge not speaking is not unusual. It happened when their parents died. We get a flash back here to good ol gramps, explaining to a young Miguel, that Jorges problem is not physical, but rather emotional. And that the doctor cannot cure him, time has to do it. Miguel tells Adela that is lasted five years, and then one day he started talking again. So they obviously don’t know what happened between Jorge and Kenia, so Adela is going to call Kenia and Miguel is going to call the doctor. Miguel tells Adela that with her by his side everything is much easier. Adela tells him that she loves him, to which he responds. Do we think she will ever ask him why the sudden change of heart? Or is she just going to leave well enough alone.

Carlos is having a conversation with a man we have seen before, but whom I am unsure of his identity. They are talking about the fact that Carlos can’t leave his office without the press being there. The man is telling Duarte that as long as the apartment isn’t in his name, there is nothing to connect him to the location. He is telling Duarte that he has to say something because she was his secretary. Maybe blame his opponents, say they are trying to make him look bad. Duarte gets a call, it is Epig, calling about the hit on Hector. Epig tells him that the issue is taken care of. Duarte tells him friend that Hector Bernal will not bother him anymore. The man tells him that it can’t be that he has done something like that. Duarte says that he had no other choice, he had to do something to shut him up. The man asks him what he was thinking, that attacking a journalist is the worst error. Duarte secretary walks in and tells him that the presidents office called and they want to see him. Now! The other guy has an “I told you so” look on his face.

At Garza enterprises, Adela calls Kenia. She asks her if she knows what happened to Jorge. Kenia tries to play it off, that it was just a normal couples fight, but Adela drops the “Jorge is mute” bomb and Kenia tells her that she is coming over. Flaco asks what happened to Jorge, that he told her not to mess with the Garza freak. Kenia calls him an idiot.

Outside of Duarte’s offices, the press start asking questions about Hector and he tells them he is going to answer their questions. First they ask if the apartment is his. Duarte gets defensive and says that he already answered that question. It isn’t and never was his apartment. The guy asking the questions is the journalist friend that Hector got to publish the last story, also who got kidnapped with him. He also asks if Natalia was his secretary. Duarte says of course, everyone knows that she was. He goes on that he didn’t rest until they caught the killer, if they didn’t believe him, ask her parents. The journalist tells Duarte that it isn’t the first time it has been suggested that he is involved with Epig and that he himself wrote about it. Duarte tries to turn the tables and tells him that it’s because of journalists like him that politicians look bad to the public. The man answers that the politicians do plenty on their part to make themselves look bad. Duarte tells him that that is his opinion, and that facts are facts. The reporter says “speaking of facts, what do you think of the attack on Braulio Lopez? What political implications is this going to have?” At which point, Duarte has had enough and decides to end the questions. He tells them he will give a press conference.

Edna makes her way to the site of Sucesos and starts asking questions about the shooting. An employee directs her to question Claudia and Edna also requests that they get access to the cameras from the street or any stores in the area. She also tells them to question all of the ‘mirones’ which I translate to mean looky-loos, anyone who saw what happened. She asks them to let her know if they discover anything relevant and she is on her way to see Hector.

Adela and Kenia are talking and Adela tells Kenia that no one goes mute just because of an argument with their SO. Kenia tries to justify that Jorge is that way and takes things more to heart than a normal person. How awful she must feel knowing that she told him off using every insecurity he had and completely broke him. But she is lying pretty well. Adela keeps asking if anything else happened. Kenia asks to go and see him.

In Jorge’s room, Kenia walks in and Jorge won’t even look at her. He is holding his head, having an attack, similar to what happened after the bomb. Kenia tells him that they just argued, sometimes people break up and that doesn’t mean you stop talking. She tells him that if he wants to yell at her to yell. Jorge is having a full on break down by now and when Kenia tries to approach him, it looks like he threw something at her, but I rewound twice and couldn’t see what it was. Adela ushers Kenia out and Jorge breaks down crying. I mean cmon Kenia, you even insulted how his manhood and told him you slept with him because you felt sorry for him. Any man would hate you after that, and this one is already super damaged.

Ana is crying into her phone in the hospital talking to her mom. Claudia offers her a coffee. Ana tells her that she knew he was going to write the article and that she should have prevented it. Claudia talks sense into her, telling her that even if they had locked him in a room, he would have found a way to write and publish the article. He is like that. Ana asks “what if this isn’t over?” She thinks that they could try to kill him in the hospital. Claudia says the only way to avoid that is to let all of the press know so that everyone knows what has happened and what is going on. Its the only way to avoid them from attacking again. Ana asks Claudia to take care of calling all of the journalists.

Next is a montage of the various news channels reporting on the incident. Asking the question of whether the attack on Hector had to do with the article he printed. We see Edna hear the news, and the Rosario in the Garza kitchen.

Edna enters the hospital and introduces herself to Ana. Ana says that they have no news from the operating room. Claudia introduces herself. Edna tells her that she needs to take her statement. Claudia tells Edna that when Hector was shot, she had gone inside to get her cell phone. Edna asks both women if they have any idea of who could have done it. Ana answers, Carlos Duarte or Epigmenio Moncado. Claudia answers, ‘or both.” Ana asks Edna if there is any way to put security on her husbands room, that anyone could enter and do him further harm. Edna says she will see what she can do and leaves. This scene was good, because I could already see Edna trying to turn this around to look like it was Miguels fault. Every time a body shows up, she is trying to pin it on him. But Edna is not going to let this go. Hopefully, she will change direction and go after Carlos and Epig.

Dora is back home and they are talking about Jorges situation when Rosario enters with the news that Hector has been shot and that he is in the hospital. When Miguel originally got the news of the article he told Rosario he hoped it didn’t have negative consequences, I am sure this is what he feared. Adela races after Miguel to go and see Hector.

The warden of the prison that had spoken with Duarte comes in to check on Braulio. The doctor tells him that there has not been any improvement and that they are keeping him alive with machines. That they need to see if he stabilizes so that they can unplug him from the machines, and that even then, he can stay in that state indefinitely. The director asks the doctor to keep him informed. This is where I like crime shows over novelas. Because anyone with a lick of sense would connect the attempt on Braulio with the attempt on Hector and realize that someone wants to cover something up. And that Hector wrote an article explaining the whole thing and then gets shot. At least in crime shows they follow the logic. In novelas, no one sees what is right in front of their faces until the ‘ultimo capitulos.’

The doctor comes out to give the news that Hector is alive, that the bullets didn’t hit any vital organs and that there was a good prognosis. We see Miguel and Adela there to receive the news. Miguel asks the doctor if there is something he wasn’t saying. The doctor tells him that though the bullets didn’t hit any vital organs, one did hit the spinal cord, and that it is possible Hector may not walk. But that he doesn’t want to precipitate anything. The guards arrive to protect Hector.

Peligros tries to follow Dora as she tries to leave. She hits him up for taking Miguels side, for keeping an eye on her. That she knows Mario told Peligros and P told Miguel that she was in CJ. Peligros says he just follows orders. Dora says ‘ yeah Miguel’s’ she tells him that he forgot the codes of Lamberto. P tells her that Lamberto was the one who told them that Miguel was in charge. Dora says then what am I nothing? She says that she is tired of being a nobody. Peligros asks Dora to not do anything she might regret, she takes it as a threat. He asks that she understand. Peligros, poor Peligros, in between his loyalty to Miguel and Dora who is becoming more and more bitter as she feels her way of life slipping away. She is making it much harder than it has to be.

Ana tells Miguel that she saw him talking to the doctor, is everything ok. Miguel tells her that it is not yet for sure… but hesitantly tells her what the doctor said about possible paralysis. Ana tells Miguel not to tell him anything.

Jimena is back to her bitchy self, more so than normal after her confirmation that Miguel bought a hotel to court Adela and just did her against the office wall. She tells Trejo and Flaco that it seems like the only one who care what is going on at the office is her. Maybe if she knew what happened to Miguel in Spain she would understand his reordering of his priorities. Trejo tries to talk her down, telling her that he understands but that they can’t do anything. Jimena is upset that Miguel postponed his trip to Asia and that if they don’t get back on schedule there will be problems. Trejo tells her that what is happening there is also important. Jimena keeps going and Flaco tells her that it is about Miguel’s brother and best friend. Jimena asks what he means, he explains that Hector was shot and that Jorge is mute, she asks what do you mean mute. Flaco thinks he is funny and says ‘you know, mute, like the little mermaid.” Trejo didn’t like the joke. Tells Flaco to stop being a clown, or clowning around. Depends on how you read it. Trejo says that things at home for Miguel are all bad right now and that they need to understand it. Jimena says they should all go home because they can’t do anything at the office right now. Flaco keeps trying to invite people out for beers.

Hector wakes up in his room, seriously, I think it would take longer than that. He calls for Ana who was sleeping on a banquet couch looking thing. He tells her that he missed her, thank you for coming. He asks her to forgive him, that he knows it hasn’t been easy for her, that she is the most important to him. Hector asks for Claudia, I imagine he thought she could have been shot too, but wifey doesn’t take it well. She tells him that Claudia is outside with Miguel. He apologizes for asking. He tells her he doesn’t feel any pain, that he will be up and about in weeks. She tells him that Edna came by. He tells her to call Edna, that he needs to give a statement. Ana wants him to rest, but he insists.

Hector is showing Edna the video that Braulio made. Edna confirms that it is in fact a very important piece of evidence. She asks him why he didn’t show her before publishing the article. He says because she wouldn’t have let him publish. She says of course not, we have to dig more. Look where it got you. Hector tells her that journalism doesn’t work that way. Edna says that she will put out a warrant on Epigmenio Moncada. Hector tells her that Braulio needs protection. She tells him that she can’t do much. Because no matter how much protection she gives, the prison system is very corrupt. Hector says that they will kill him the minute he opens his eyes. Edna tell Hector ‘then let’s hope he doesn’t open his eyes.” Hector tells her that it is unjust. Edna responds that her hands are tied. That they have to go step by step, she will take the evidence and they have to work with it. Claudia asks Edna to keep them informed. Edna says she will and asks them not to do anything brave. To which I understand to mean risky. As soon as Edna leaves, Hector asks Claudia to go and get Miguel.

Braulios wife is entering the prison when the reporters start asking her questions. Whether or not she thinks Braulio is the real killer, if he will live, what happened in the fight. She looks ready to break and screams at them to leave. She enters the room where he is, crying over his bed, telling him how much her and the kids need him, and asking what will become of them when he isn’t there.

Yeah, another Jimena complaining scene. She is getting as annoying as Chisca. She is complaining that he took off days first for romance, then family problems, and now he is involved in the situation with Hector Bernal. She is complaining to fake boyfriend and he is telling her that he can’t ignore his business forever. Jimena says she isn’t just talking about business, to which he says he knows. She is upset that she hasn’t had a chance to try and make Miguel jealous yet. Which is hilarious. If he let Adela be with someone else, someone he actually cared about, loved, how much more so is he going to be ok with Jimena moving on. Does she really think she has that kind of pull. My bet is on the fact that she is going to be sorely disappointed. Fake boyfriend (name anyone?) tells her to sit down, have a drink and relax.

Duarte is giving his press conference, saying that he has met with the President who has confirmed his faith in him and that he is sorry about the attempt against Hector and that he will do everything in his hands to find the guilty parties. But then basically cancels out everything he just said when he tells them that “he should also say that it is unfortunate that this type of journalism lends itself to discrediting the political order. This comment makes the room erupt into questions. The first reporter asks if the Secretary is trying to say that Hector has a personal issue with him. Duarte answers “of course, that Hector has never been in agreement with his platforms, he doesn’t know why.” The reporter we know already (name?) asks “isn’t it inopportune that we can’t question the prisoner Braulio Lopez because he is in a coma?” Duarte answers that he wishes for the rapid recovery of the prisoner, but that he is sure they have the right guy behind bars. The reporters turn to Natalia’s parents who have been standing by the entire time and ask what they think. The mom answers that all she wants is for them to stop talking about her daughter. The dad says that he is sure that they have the right guy in prison. During this time, the guy who was with Duarte is on the phone. Duarte comments that they should let Natalia rest in peace. Duarte goes to take more questions when the man gets off the phone, whispers something in his ear, and ends the press conference.

Outside the man tells Duarte what the call was about. He found out that there is a video that Braulio himself made, confessing that the whole thing was set up. Duarte likes it even less when he asks who has the video and they tell him that it is Edna Gonzalez. Duarte’s body language says the whole thing here. Then the guy tells him that a warrant has been issued for Epigmenio. Duarte is looking nervous.

This is interesting. Dora is at the prison to see Tacho. She tells him he wasn’t easy to find. Tacho says they transferred him. Dora tells him she wants to make a deal. She wants to know where Epigmenio is. Tacho tells her that everyone wants that information. She says, well I am not everyone. I am the one who is going to give you money and protection, but that isn’t the best part of the deal. Tacho bites and asks what is the best part. She tells him revenge, or doesn’t he see where his boss has let him rot. Tacho tells her that he already knows there is a warrant for Epig and that they are going to capture him sooner or later. Dora asks him if he was born slow. Tacho didn’t like that and tells her that no one talks to him like that. Dora says that she knows everyone wants to find Epig, but that she wants to find him first and that her offer has an expiration date. If the police find him first, it’s over. Tacho tells her that she is going to have to hurry because knowing him, he will get to a safe house. He asks Dora if she has a good memory.

Epig and his men are at house when they see the news about the warrant. Lobo tells Epig he needs to hide. Miss Piggy asks what is going to happen to her and the kids. Lobo tells her not to worry, that he will make sure to get her Epigs messages. Epig is sure that Carlos isn’t going to do anything to help him. Lobo and Epig split.

Dora is walking with Sandro Ochoa and gives him the address and tells him to keep her informed. He asks her if she thinks it is the best time to kill him with all of the scandal with Carlos Duarte. Dora says it’s the best time, because no one with suspect them.

Chisca goes to see her brother with Ishiro’s help. She asks him if he wants to talk with his favorite sister. She asks Ishiro to give them a few minutes. She asks him if he remembers their secret code, one hand squeeze for yes, and two for no. He agrees with her that snow is gross by squeezing her hand.

Kenia arrives home to Abdul (Christian) and tells him that he can’t just sit there all day. He is checking her out, and she looks good, he gets close and asks her if they should remember old times. She tells him to not touch her, that she was just a girl and didn’t know what she was doing. She calls him Christian and he hates it. He tells her that he is faithful to the group. She tells him that he can still get out like she did. He has her pinned to the couch. He asks her if she also forgot that she married him in front of Allah and that she can’t leave everything. She is begging him to not do anything to her. I am guessing he does because they leave us with her crying.

In Duarte’s office, his secretary is leaving and asks him if he needs anything. Then Edna barges in and tells him they have to talk.

Miguel is in Hector’s hospital room. Miguel asks him how he is feeling, he says like he is still under anesthesia, his whole body asleep. Miguel tells him that it is normal and he needs to rest. He just got out of a complicated surgery. Hector says there is no time to rest and that Miguel has to do something. They are going to kill him. Miguel asks who he is talking about. “Braulio Lopez is in danger it is my fault. I need you to do something please, tell me you will do something. “ Their relationship is interesting, but very much true to lifelong friendships. One minute you can’t stand them, but at the end of the day they are part of who you are and you will do anything for them.

And End Scene.

So Monday, we will find out if Miguel is able to save Braulio, what Edna has to say to Duarte, if Jorge talks again, if Kenia finds something to hit Cristian over the head with and if Dora successfully gets Epig killed (this one is highly unlikely, too many episodes left). It is super late here, so I hope this recap makes sense and that it is enjoyable reading my friends. Have a great weekend and see you all next Friday night!!

Esther, wow..thank you so much for that detailed recap.

Things are moving along now. Adela seems to be a wonderful partner for Mig. I hope that she makes him want to be a better man.

I suppose Thaddeus dark, violent , hopeless tale reflects the actual crime and corruption in real life. Tragic and horrifying.

I was thinking about how I used to teach my ESL students the difference between the English verbs "do" and "make." We " make " reservations , plans, mistakes, etc. We "do" homework, the dishes, our best, etc. So, now I am thinking about a change in recent years. We used to say "make" love, but nowadays you often hear " do" her or him. Wow...that, I think, speaks volumes about how attitudes about sex and love have changed. Sex has become impersonal, unimportant...just something that you " do" to someone, whereas, the verb "make" implies something that two people create together. Well, just me musing on a chilly, gloomy morning.

Thank You Esther, glad you are caught up.
I wonder, does LooneyVision have, like, a 'Freak Out' class for budding female actresses? Thinking of when Heck got shot, and Claw turned back and saw what had happened, I just didn't know one woman could make that much noise. I have been in a few romantic skirmishes and a WW3 or two but I have never ever heard anything like that. I also wonder if maybe she records it two or three times, and then they mix it all down to one soundtrack. WOW !

With Dora going off the ranch and after ePig, hopefully one will kill the other. Don't really care which, just looking for a bright spot, or maybe early Christmas and they kill each other. Of course she just orders a loyal follower to do it. Hey, I know you have been growing tomatoes for me for the last few years and prob a little bored with that, so I want you to go kill a mobster. Yeah kinda the same work, just different tools, here's your gun. Thanks.

Yeah, ole Peli is between a rock and a hard place. And Miggy, really can not for sure trust anybody, maybe except Adela, these days. Peligros could earnestly pledge allegiance to Mig and ten minutes later do the same with Dora, though we have not seen any such yet.

The two on a motorbike drive by shooting became really popular in the Columbian TNs a few years ago. Very effective, one to drive, the passenger to do the shooting, then a stolen or throw away bike can be abandoned. Much more agile and a far better escape vehicle than a car. Helmets, only worn for this purpose, provide a far better identity block than the standard issue black hoodie. Can't wait for that fad to really catch on here in FloriDuh. It should substantially cut down on the number of Lexus and Beamers stolen every weekend night.

Carlos Duarte should start carrying a man purse and a roll of Charmin in it, as I am sure his pants were a helluva surprise for the dry cleaners after he read Heck's article.

Susie, yeah I know what you mean.

It makes a romantic old Southern expression, "I've already plowed that field." even more cuddly sounding doesn't it?

Thank you, Esther! I'm glad you took a break and I'm glad this episode was no where near what you got the last time.

Can't stand Dora. If she gets any lower on my totem pole she'll be hittin' middle earth soon...but I suppose that is where she will end up. I know she's gone through some horrible stuff but that's no excuse for being such a w(B)itch. She wants to stick to the old ways and where did that get the Garza family? Nowhere but in all this mess! She seems to be more concerned with "the community" and the "Garza" status than the only family she has. But then, this is her stepfamily who was left fatherless because of a man she seems to have kissed the ground he walked on despite his ruthlessness even toward his own son. Oh my, I can't stand this woman and look at all the time I'm spending on her ARGHHH!

Chisca is likeable when she is with Jorge; she truly loves and shows genuine concern for him. However, she still isn't off my hook after all the stupid things she has done.

The scenes between Adela and Mig were MEHHH. I still think Adela is too good for Mig-a-heho.

When Migdog stops barking, those two MIGHT get my blessing.

Well, and Adela hasn't answered any of my emails either.

Mig and Adela are short lived. If this sticks to any TN troupes, this is the honeymoon period. He played hard to get, finally gives in and then Jimena will set him up...or he really do something stupid and she will leave him, then he will give chase until the last episodes where he will prove his innocence, or something and she will take him back. All the while possibly pregnant. Sorry for the cynicism.

Yes Dora the Deplorable! Getting on my nerves! Maybe something good will come out if it like Kirby said and she and EPig will mutually destruct. Problem is...anything that happens he will blame Miguel. But as you said, Dora is step...meaning that once Migs and the kids find out the secret she has been hiding, the lack of blood will write her sentence. Bet Peligros will even be swayed with that one.

Do we think that Adela gets to go with Mig to Japan this time?

Oh yes, and serious lack of chemistry!! Or maybe just filmed weird.

Thanks, Esther. I hope you're now catching up on sleep. Terrific job putting all these pieces together for folks like me with whiplash from the action.

Susanlynn, I believe Mig would say he "did" Karina, Jimena, Serbian bikerchick, and Stickchick, but he "made love" to Adela.

Can't help it. I do like seeing Dora take charge. But this will not end well for her.

Kenia's in a living hell. I don't see the point of her putting up with this terrorist guy. Girl, speak up and tell somebody what's happening. You're as bad as Chisca was now.

The characters I think will be most loyal to Miguel no matter what comes:

Adela (love of his life)
Ishiro (they share a culture, code of honor & were both trained by Tadimichi)
Peligros

I don't doubt Peligros will choose Miguel if it comes to that, even if he is uncomfortable with the brewing tension between Dora and Miguel, which is understandable. When Dora ordered Peligros to kill the Pacheco patriarch (father of her rapists) in prison, Peligros didn't go through with it until he got Miguel's consent first, even against Dora's wishes for Mig to know. Peligros won't go against Miguel's interests, imo.

Kenia can stop all of this but she won't. I hated seeing her forced but she's hiding this thug in her apartment day and night, ripped Jorge apart to protect herself more than him imo, and is probably the office spy. I noticed she still manages to show up for work in Monday's promo. I don't see how she gets out of this or if she survives til the end, if she refuses to tell the truth before the truth exposes her. I mean, Chisca did some incredibly stupid things too but at least she had drugs as an excuse and is essential to Miguel. Kenia has just alienated her biggest source of potential support and help, Jorge.

Chisca and Jorge's sibling bond is consistent and nice to see. I wish Jorge and Miguel had gotten a scene too.

There was only one brief couple scene between Adela and Miguel in this episode which weirdly seemed to cut in from the middle after she'd given him a status report on Jorge offscreen and he told her about the severity of Jorge's emotional problems onscreen. Univision can't help themselves cutting snippets of scenes as they need to fit in all of their commercials. Will test my theory when these episodes stream on Netflix in 2020. What are they waiting for to get Jorge a therapist?

Dora makes a deal with the devil's minion, Tacho. This can't end well. Tacho cannot be trusted. She's a badass gangster woman in a man's world and Tacho is an idiot who liked taking Epig's abuse. My take is that Tacho would double cross Dora in a heartbeat.

So, poor Hector will probably be permanently paralyzed...or at least temporarily. Paying a high price for trying to expose the truth on some really bad guys and being reckless about the potential consequences. He's lucky to be alive. They're keeping his diagnosis from him and he seems to be in denial, blaming the anesthesia for his lack of feeling. Interesting that they're keeping Braulio alive and now Miguel has been enlisted to protect him too. Braulio must be important to an upcoming plot twist. Like Esther said, these two have a weird, complicated relationship. They are like brothers who don't see eye to eye on most things but will come through for each other when needed.

Edna is holding very powerful evidence against Carlos Duarte now and she better watch her back. Unfortunately for her, her significant other, whom she seems to blindly trust, leaks stuff to Carlos Duarte. That's going to bite her.

LOL some novelas really are that predictable, but I think I will bet that this won't be the case here. Mostly I don't think Miguel will screw this up or let another woman come between them. Why? Because he no longer wants that. I think there will be a test or two coming up but they will get through it stronger as a couple. But I don't know any spoilers either. That's just my hunch. We shall see.

Above post is mine, too. Also, thanks for the detailed recap, Esther!

Doesn’t anyone think Jorge’s bed is way too small? Me thinks Jimena will drug Miggy, claim she’s pregnant......etc etc

Karma will get Dora & Co.,

I didn't realize my failure to thank Esther for the recap since there wasn't anything I could add to the story. Having read it, I can say thank you again. It's a lot of work and slavish devotion--especially when you have several hours to catch up on. Such excellent writing to keep us all on edge.

I'm not sure what Ana's function is other than to mess with Hector's and our heads vis a vis work and the women in his life. I wish she'd just stay with her parents and baby until El Fin. But maybe now she takes him back with her to start his rehab, or getting used to a wheelchair. I don't thnk a wheelchair will keep Hector for pursuing the truth (or his truth).

Funny, I don't really care about this sidestory except that it's the only thing that will bring Carlos down. Natalia's death was an accident. True, he was abusing her at the time, but if the corner of the table hadn't been precisely there, she wouldn't be dead. His crime (among others) is the cover-up. Yeah, he sold his body and soul to an ePigmaniac. Of all people, why him? He had no other loyal men in his entourage?

About poor Peligros--His original loyalty was to Lamberto and the El Salado organization. He's gotten a whiff of Dora's veering off in her own directions. But, he's been at Miguel's side for long enough to know that Miggy is a man of principles and truly believes he can change the way things worked in the past. I think he will be loyal to Miggy over Dora in the end.

Speaking of Miggy's business plan to make things safer and cleaner by going "legit." The dirty money still has to come from somewhere in order for it to be laundered and invested. Some poor schmucks will still have to buy illegal substances. Some will still have to grow or manufacture, transport and distribute them in order to sell. Some will still form gangs, own guns and demand "protection" money from local businesses. It's difficult to eliminate a tactic that works in a culture infused with ex-officio governments.

I don't think Miguel SHOULD end up winning in this game.

Sorry, but neither do I think Edna is up to putting a stop to Miguel and the various gangs. At least not in stilletto heels on the job.
