El Dragón #49, 12/9/19: Escape

Some small details missing but not enough not to post.

Sevilla: Paco arrived at Loca Maria's and heard Miguel calling for help. He must have been nuts because she distracted him from entering the gate and he went on his way.

Mexico City: Tania called Jimena to tell her what happened. Jimena told her not to move or to talk to anyone else. She tried calling Miguel, but no result.

Sevilla: Maria la Loca went off the deep end, calling him an ingrate and acting like a toxic mother.

Mexico City: Jimena told Flaco and Kenia about Tania. Flaco tried to contact Miguel's cell.

Edna and Gary had another tiff. Someone came into her office and handed her an artist's rendition of Hans. It's a damn good one, done from an interview with a witness. She told him to get that drawing out there on all media.

Sevilla: Maria la Loca was at it again with her poisons while Miguel thought back to his ninja training. He remembered that Tadamichi had suggested controlling his emotions and have a change in strategy. When she came back he apologized to her, saying he wanted to stay with her. It seemed to be working.

Mexico City: Trejo told the others that they needed to protect Tania. Adela suggested they send Peligros to get her. Miraculously, Jimena agreed. Jorge tried calling Miguel and when he failed to answer the phone that La Loca boiled he said he would try Chisca.

Hector and Claudia were hanging out in his car in front of the prison. She handed him a folder and he got out to talk to the man regarding the murder of Natalia.

Jorge spoke with Ishiro who gave him the name of a phone contact in Miami. Treo called up the guy's number on his cell and the man told Adela he would put her in touch with Paco.

Sevilla: La Loca seemed pacified by [the very empty] sex. Miguel was trying to shift position as he prepared the biggest lie of his life, telling her not to leave him. [The kiss that followed must have tasted really bad.]

Mexico City: Flaco and Kenia argued about whether he was to blame for Farchala's death. Jorge came in with Hans' picture on a tablet; Flaco recognized him.

Hector visited Braulio to tell him that his wife was ill. He handed him the envelope with test results and tried to convince him to stop concealing the killer's identity so he could get out and take care of his wife.

Sevilla: Miguel concealed his impatience carefully as La Loca went on about how more sex with her will make him feel better.

Veracruz: Jimena and Peligros arrived to rescue Tania and the baby. The newspaper was on the table with the drawing of Hans, whom both Jimena and Peligros recognized. When Tania explained she had called her mother, Jimena scolded her. [Which was the last thing Tania needed to hear]. Jimena and Peligros started escorting her out of the house.

Madrid: Two guys searched Miguel's hotel room which InValid and Piero waited for their report. They found nothing and called. InValid and Piero played the Blame Game with Piero getting in the low blow that Miguel was trying to cut him out of his business plans, thereby betraying their friendship.

Sevilla: Maria la Loca climbed on top of Miguel to restart his mojo... until she found her gold medallion on the carpet and accused him of attempted theft “of my property and my treasures” [Which truly proved her to be batshit crazy as he could buy and sell her at least a hundred times over]. She left the room.

Veracruz: Tania had run back into the house. Jimena handed the crying baby to a confused Peligros and went back into the house to get Tania. He had to deal with the teasing of some self-styled machistas while waiting. He showed his pistol and they split. Jimena had some difficult getting Tania out of the house, as Tania was vomiting, later saying she wanted to die. She didn't know how to go on.

Mexico City: Adela tried calling Miguel again. She finally called Paco who was partying. He told her he was unable to reach Miguel since introducing him to a (female) friend. He knew nothing of Miguel's current whereabouts. He also sounded a little drunk.

Trejo said something about security and Adela left to meet Peligros and Tania at the foundation. El Gato was hanging around again saying he had information of value to her. She told him she had no time and he said that in a few days the information would be of no use. She told him to stop bothering her and that she would not pay for information again. The valet brought her car and she drove off.

At the foundation Adela introduced Tania to Rita, whom she said would help her.

Sevilla: La Loca changed from white lingerie to black and returned to Miguel, who was still tied up. She removed the gag and he apologized, laying it on thick about wanting to stay with her in her vineyard. He talked about having trouble managing his feelings, etc. He got her to believe he was going to tell her a major secret. She leaned in closely and he kneed her in the right place to render her unconscious long enough to unscrew the brass bar and get the chain on the cuffs out of it. He took the chain on her neck with had the key to the cuffs and put it around his own neck. He then unlocked the cuffs on his wrists. She came to and tried to choke him. He managed to get up, turn over enough to get free, then cuffed her right hand to another bar on the bed. Miguel freed his feet and got out of the bed. He still had the chain in his hand when he got off the bed.

Miguel got dressed and stumbled out and entered the pickup but was too sick to drive. He got out of it and crawled a few feet across the lawn.

Mexico City: Adela went down to the kitchen because she couldn't sleep. She asked Dora – who also couldn't sleep – what time it was in Spain. Dora said it was nine in the morning. Adela called Paco again and told him that Miguel had been incommunicado for two days. He told her about the vineyard and said he was going back. He did an about face and soon was off in his SUV.

Sevilla: Miguel walked along the highway trying to hitchhike despite being unsteady, sick, and in pain. Paco spotted him and got him into the SUV, telling him that Adela was worried about him. Miguel seemed happy to hear her name.

After Miguel cleaned up and put on fresh clothes he told Paco what happened and said they had to call La Loca's sister to get her. He then called Adela who said he had to come back before giving him the bad news. He asked for the details.

Mexico City: Trejo was downstairs and left a suspicious looking-box on the receptionist's counter, telling her to take care of it. He said it contained tea from Japan. She told imthat Miguel calledfrom Spain.

Gary got the message about Hans who at the same moment was in a café and saw the artist's rendition on the evening news. A waitress served him coffee and got a good look at him. He left money on the table and then left the café he was in but all the other customers had noticed him.

Sevilla: Miguel called InValid saying he would be in Madrid shortly and telling him that La Loca was locked up in the manicomio. InValid said something about it now being easy to buy the property. He said he would have to return to Mexico. They agreed to meet soon in a private place to close their deal.

InValid updated Piero, who was getting impatient, even making threats.

InValid then pumped Chisca about the prototype; she said that Ishiro must have it. InValid suggested that she seduce him out of it. She was shocked at the suggestion but InValid knew how to play her. He said he loved her.

The next morning while Miguel was on his way to Mexico Chisca sneaked into his hotel room. She found the prototype after dreaming of how Miguel had hidden other stuff when they were kids.

Comments:
You Go Migster. Head Butt the cray cray chick. Dam that makes me reach for the Excedrin just watching, but it worked. Ole StickChick has a decent bottom for a scrawny gal. Sheezo it is hard to outsmart a crazy person. Widdle woozie Garza hanging onto the guardrail. Please. Even the guardrail wasn't buying it. And Paco tells Miggy that it was wait for it...Super Adela....who called. BTW, if you are chained to the bed and ..um.. rambunkcioused, does that count against you or not? Just sayin. Though in Miggy's case, it is not really enough to move the pointer.

Well Chiscass aren't you the clever one. You are like if there is one granule of sugar on the counter and you haven't seen an ant in three years, now you have five thousand. Now be a good girl and sample it FOR Not Valid and Piero. You can just tell them when you come to if it was any good or not.

Why can I not stay interested in Aw Heck and The Claw(dia) ?

BTW Lizard writers, "This number is no longer in service." Indicates a bit more of a problem than an unanswered call?

Tania, you brainless twit, so you want to die? Keep on the way you are going and you will probably get your wish. Please put La Bambina somewhere safe first.

To negotiate with crazy people, you have to think like crazy people. Remember that if you ever run for office.

Paco hears Migster in the backgroound and La LocaStick tells him it her dogs?

Miggy couldn't get that piece of shit Dodge started?
A. No 'Guy' skills I suppose.
B. An F150 would have started.

Oops I thought Mig head butted StickChick, mybe not. It happened pretty fast.

Thanks Urban. So one itty bitty little thing. How safe are Tania and Palomita going to be in Super Adela's Foundation home for domestic violence victims?

Not that we really have any indication that she is in any real danger from Prick-ten. He simply wanted his formula back and now he knows Miggy has it, so Tania should be of no concern to him now, although there is always that "collateral damage".

It was fun watching Not Val and Piero discuss that the sample would not be available to copy, but simply for a trial run (ingestion) by Pierro. Is it Piero or pero?

Chisca to Not Val: "You want me to screw Ishiro?" Indignantly, but then mulling it over she seemed to come around to the idea a bit. Like, maybe the best of both worlds?

Palomita going to be SAFE in......
Brain gets ahead of hands

Chisca would take on an army. Maybe she was Messalina in a previous life?

I also find it outrageous that Miguel would have only one prototype and now that the chemist is dead what happens if that prototype disappears?

Peligros being confounded by an infant was moderately amusing.

Yeah, the prototype / sample makes no sense. I THINK what they are trying to show is that he actually has the formula locked away somewhere "safe", and has produced one SAMPLE to demo to his criminal customer. But can use the formula to produce other samples and mass produce the drug.

But as it is written and in the show it is confounding.

Messalina: Yeah, modern TNs have nothing on the Romans.

Thank you, UA! Great screenshot and you hit all the good stuff. No violence in this one, so I watched the entire episode.

I thought of every scenario I thought possible to begin this show with Paco either saving Migalicious or getting killed, but NEVER did I come up with "Oh it's just the dogs!" ARGHH! Oh well, I guess they have to make Mig look good and have him save himself. I coulda sworn it was a headbutt too, Kirby, but what the heck, SickChick got knocked out, Mig released himself and stumbled out pretending to be drugged up (and not so well, IMO).

But of course, Mig needed to know that it was AdelaAdorable who was so concerned that she got in touch with Paco.

I was hoping for a whole episode without Chiscass, but there she was...and she just had to find the prototype. ARGHHH!

So did it finally sink in to Tanya that her mamma and hubby were killed because of her stupidity? She seemed to blame Jim and her cohorts.

We should never underestimate the combo of strength and motivation in someone this loca.

Now..... would anyone else be up for a novela de epoch about Ancient Rome? Have the Italians done that yet?

Thanks, Urban.

Tania has been dealt a terrible blow, but I wasn't ticked at Jimena for telling her she shouldn't have phoned her mom. What part of you and your husband are in "GRAVE DANGER FROM THE MAN WHO KEPT YOU CAPTIVE AND ENSLAVED YOUR HUSBAND!" did she not understand?

Ishiro, there's no galan in this tale, so it's up to you. (Mig going the straight and narrow because he got chained to a bed by a loca doesn't count.) Do not let Chisca hoodwink you.

Thank you Urban. At least there were no torture scenes this time to sit through. I really liked the concise points you put together.

Kirby: Yeah, Mig has no “guy skills” in the mechanical department. But he probably was way to woozy and out of it to drive anyway.

Urban: I wonder if what Chisca found is not the prototype, but designed to fool someone. Ishiro probably has it in his room. We never saw exactly where Mig hid the stuff.

Poor Tania. She is going to feel so much guilt for the rest of her life. Of course Hans had found her mother anyway and would have killed her. But at least it would have only been her mother killed and not her husband too. Hans is evil enough for murdering Tania’s mom.

I enjoyed seeing Mig get out of his predicament and handcuff La Loca to the bed. But good grief, is Paco that easily fooled and how did he really think that was a dog?

Cynthia..Oooo good one. Mig hid a decoy and trusted the teal McCoy to Ishiro.

Not Val will have a Helluva time explaining 'Talcum Powser and food coloring' to his impatient cohort Piero.

Paco: Cynthia what we will believe a woman tells us is inversely proportional to how much fabric she is wearing.

Ay Yi Yi--
So much to digest, visually and verbally. Urban, thanks for your right down the line informational recap. It certainly set the scene(ry). Dogs, my foot. Then, to have Kirby come in to embellish was masterful. Thanks to both of you.

Ok, so, a knee to the groin with sheets and clothing probably wouldn't have knocked Maria out, especially if you don't have fully flexible knees at the time. A crack on the head would have. Too bad they didn't make that clear. Maybe a cracking noise? I thought he had bitten her in a variation of the Vulcan Mind Meld that you have to do when your hands can't.

The Dodge would have started if Mig had found the key. He spent enough time rummaging around inside the cab. He probably didn't want to go back in the house to look for it--too many bad memories. But--he COULD have made a phone call to his pal to come pick him up. Too much rethinking going on. It's like recipes. You get one that sounds great and spend time modifying it in your head before trying it.

To me Chisca is not in the same league with Messalina. Messaline ate up anyone she set her eyes on. Chisca gives in to trite phrases like 'Sorry,' 'I love you' and a couple of kisses too easily in return for a snort.

I wonder if the end of all this intrigue with the Happy Pill will be that the sample and the formula are filed away like the Ark of the Covenant and civilization will be spared the Stepford Men and Women and go on killing each other as they've done for millennia.

(Note to Urban--The British did ancient Rome: I Claudius. It's worth watching and rewatching.)

Thank, you, Urban . I appreciate all the details you provided becAuse I was babysitting last night and missed this episode.

Well, I guess Mig said yes to the wrong girl this time. Will the experience change his he ho behavior? once bitten...or handcuffed...twice shy ??? Live and learn ? The whole he ho storyline is ho hum to me. I prefer storylines that depict true love and devotion. This show continues to be dark and depressing.

ishiro is stoic and may not be as easy to seduce as Val and Chis think .

Miguel didn't have his cell and probably didn't want to take the time to look for it in view of how crazy people suddenly have the strength of ten.

Chisca may not be in Messalina's league but I am reasonably sue she'd like to try.

I am awaiting tonight's episode with baited breath.

Chis doesn't seem to love or respect anyone, including herself.I am starting to wpnder if she will survive. The writers have certainly painted this character in dark colors.

Chis is so dumb. How can a guy who says he loves you, pimp you out like that? Oh yeah, go seduce Ishiro. Great....Val just treats her like a hooker now.

Not Val(id brain function) is delusional if he thinks Chiscass can seduce Ishiro.
She will not get to first base, she won't even come up in the batting order.

"Aw come on Ishiy, can't I just kiss........ and ......?"
"Ms. Garza I will restrain you if I must. Your Brother has asked me to advise him of your behavior."

"No"
"But..Hl;GIO*(*BKHUKGJ<Lkjlgwras?"
"No"
"ATklihUUUIuiujguyrl;klGH&**(%%$"
"NO."

Part of Ishiro's training is probably like walking over lit charcoal (firewalking) or some such.
It is not like Chiscass would be asking to be deflowered, ya know. Decades past that.

My money is on Ishiro. He is our only Hero candidate here, right Susie?

I just watched an SVU episode about a pimp who treated a bunch of unnderage girls this was ...before murdering them. I don't know how they become so delusional but all the previous comments about Chisca are pointing in the right direction.

Thank you Urban for this summary.
Now that our hero Miguel is free, I have a few critical comments on his captivity. For most of it he was more like Inspector
Cleauseau than Sherlock (or James Bond). As soon as he awoke chained to the bed, he had to realize that La Loca spiked his wine. So what does he do? He eats the soup (with the same result!); then later he drinks the milk! IT’s lucky his Samuri (?) training kicked in before she served the main meal. Will he tell his team back in Mexico how it all went down? I suspect not.

Kirby, heroes seem to have gone out of fashion. Que lastima. Maybe telenovelas are reflecting changes in real life views. Maybe people have become jaded and don't believe in heroes anymore , so they now like to see shows featuring antiheroes.

I seem to remember that Miguel received a USB stick with the formula, but I couldn't tell if he put it in the little metal box together with the prototype. Could you guys see? Y'all are much more observant than I.

Stupid question, but can anyone understand why Chisca's role is so important to this story???? Kenia, Epi, Dora, more Hector, anyone would have been better. I didn't even know the actress was that well-known to merit such a substantial role. I also hated her dopey role in Corona de Lágrimas which was probably one of my top two least favorite novelas.

Urban, I'm up for any other kind of novela — Roman or not — other than the crap Televisa and Univisión have given us lately. It's depressing to know that Carla Estrada is rejoining the novela world just to produce a refrito of LPDA in a short 30+/- episode novela. Moreover, with much sadness I can say that, for the first time in years, I don't see anything on Univisión's upcoming schedule that appears in the least bit worth watching.

Please to the novela Gods: let Ishiro and Miguel catch Chisca with the prototype and give it to her REAL good, then have her flip on NoVal, and thus end this stupid storyline. I know, too much to ask for.

Cynthia, Kirby:
I saw a backhoe in the background when Miguel tried starting the truck, and thought surely the writers would have our hunk getting on it and riding down the highway after ripping off his dirty shirt.

Cynthia:
What a great thought, Miguel hid a dud prototype to throw someone off and then hid the real one in another place, thinking that once the thief found the dummy one, that would be it. Oh, please let's hope he was that smart, but based on his past history, I'm not hopeful.

I think Ishiro said more last night telling Chisca he was going to pick up Miguel at the airport than his has in all the previous episodes.

Chisca will live to see the end because she IS dumb and SO annoying. I prefer Jorge, please let's see more of him.

TOTALLY O/T:

Urban:

OMG, I was a SUV, L&O, CSI fan for decades, I think I saw L&O episodes at least 3 times!! The two that linger in my memory are (1) the boy who murdered his friend and pleaded not guilty because he had Jacob's syndrome (XYY chromosomes) and (2) the boy who murdered someone and pleaded not guilty because he was on Prozac.
Sorry totally off topic…..

I shut up now. Until later...

The only thing I remember in the little plastic box is the sample test tube looking thing. I can not recall where the USB stick with the formula is.

Ishiro should be wearing the real sample or have swallowed it and have a string in his mouth.

We shall see shortly if Chiscass found a decoy. Kerep our fingers crossed. Hey what if in a withdrawl snit she just decides to use it herself and actually it is just a really strong laxative.?
