Strange Bedfellows Part 1

One of the definitions of “attraction” is “a quality or feature that evokes interest, liking, or desire”. There does not appear to be any proven formula for what draws one person to another. For some, it is familiarity, common interests, and mutual goals. Power, money and sex are among many aphrodisiacs. Animal magnetism. The “thunderbolt”, being rendered speechless by a vision, a sensation or other overpowering emotion - love at first sight.

The sweet friendship blossoming between Ringo and Julia will likely germinate into love. But what lies in their path is their inexplicable, former relationships. Cold and rather heartless, Diego and Gloria have sent our imaginations into overdrive to try and understand how and why these couplings could ever have occurred in the first place. But alas, we were not privy to the past and can only surmise (and rue) what drew them together. Like all of us, our wants, our needs, our desires are ruled by what we “see”. Not just in our hearts but in the world of our imagination. And our reality.

Diego gives Julia a tongue lashing and mercifully departs. Case in point.

Manuel is struggling to jog, gets dizzy and falls to the pavement. Eva rushes to the hospital.

Ringo is getting in shape with vigor and determination. He conveys his concerns about Gloria to Oso. Playful swings that miss their mark ensue. Ringo is quick and ducks.

Diego and Julia talk with Ivan about Ringo vs. Turco. Julia looks on as Diego tells Ivan the wedding is off. Ringo picks this most inopportune time to enter the house as Diego screams insults. But, Julia invites him in, glaring at Diego. Diego natters on (borrowed from Judy) that she isn’t interested in the wedding. Julia tearfully interjects defending herself, telling him he is obsessed with money. Diego slithers away.

Manuel is in a foul mood, crankily complaining as Eva and Alejo check in on him. The doctor says he needs to take care of himself or will face grave consequences. He recommends a specialist. Manuel isn’t having it and wants out.

Back at training camp, Guachin pleads Rosa’s case with Oso to no avail. He later visits Rosa who sobs in a veil of tears. Oso orders Rafa into the ring and starts cracking the proverbial whip.

Unbalanced Brenda and Julia have a talk. Brenda, who balks at being told anything other than what she wishes to hear, starts throwing things, making insane accusations almost blinding Julia in the process.

Rafa starts asking Oso about his mother and surprise, Oso isn’t in the mood for a stroll down memory lane. Damasio spills the beans Sandra was the love of Oso’s life.

Oso and Diego discuss the Ringo/Turco rematch as Turco adds his two cents, starting to taunt Rafa who comes to Ringo’s defense. Cooler heads prevail, at least the ones in Ringo’s corner.

Brenda cries and apologizes. Kind Julia hugs her. All is forgiven.

Strange Bedfellows Part 2

Alejo calls Brenda who looks less than thrilled. I suspect her attitude intrigues him. Alejo this is one challenge you don’t want to win. Trust me.

Next, Brenda is with Ringo as he gets a call Turco has bought Santiago an expensive gift. Ringo’s reality is yet another argument with the perpetually angry Gloria. Ironic that it is she who is always “itching” for a fight! He thanks Brenda for the use of her phone.

Oso makes house calls! He visits Rosa to try and smooth things over. In another case of terrible timing, Guachin shows up at the door with a carton of boxing materials but instead of Rosa opening the door, he is startled and dismayed to find a most unhappy Oso!

Uh oh. The power is out and Ringo is helping Julia. Oooh. Flirting by the fuse box ensues. He tries to kiss her but she demurs and is saved by Brenda screaming at the top of her lungs. Alejo is in her room grinning away as Ringo puts a firm hand on Alejo’s shoulder and leads him out. As Brenda leaves Julia and Diego I thought I saw a bit of a smile from Julia, so thought they probably had fun filming the scene. So, looks like Alejo is a bit insane himself. If anyone can fill in their dialog, I would greatly appreciate it!

Julia gets a bit of sunshine in the form of Ringo from her bedroom window. Diego calls and ruins the moment.

Turco and Gloria kiss. No one wants to see that.

Brenda congratulates Julia on her reconciliation with Ringo, admitting she has it bad for Ringo. Julia is understandably dismayed.

Ivan and Sandra show up at Oso’s. Oso rudely insults Sandra and calls Ringo. Ivan steps away and Oso and Sandra argue. Then, Ivan walks behind Manuel’s car and both end up with mild injuries.

Julia gives Ringo a dose of reality about there being no relationship for them. Unwanted consolation comes in the form of Brenda pouring her heart out to Ringo. Ringo can hardly look at her. How do you handle someone so delusional? He looks as confused and unhappy as the situation calls for.

Ringo shows up at Turco’s where Gloria gives him money to take care of Santiago. Ringo forces Santiago to give it back.

In her little clinic at the boxing ring, Julia ministers to her father and uncle who are jarring and sparring. She locks them in together to the consternation of both.Julia overhears Ringo and Santi’s conversation about money and tells him his son is very smart.

Ringo questions Julia’s feelings…It’s not a question of does she or doesn’t she care. It’s just how much she will admit to Ringo. If anything.

Tonight was a series of short, rather disjointed scenes. I would almost swear Uni’s scissors were out but perhaps it is the fault of choppy editing. Patio? Any thoughts?

So my head was spinning like Linda Blair's but I hope I covered some of the details at least and did so somewhat accurately.

I had a tough time again with a few of the names so please let me know if I had any wrong.

Sleep well all!

RINGO

Diana, you blow my mind! Thank you for such a wonderful recap filled with your literary genius. You more than covered everything and there is very little that needs to be added.

RE: Brenda and Alejo—In a previous scene, Alejo called Brenda to invite her to a very nice restaurant. She turned him down saying that he was being too corny and needed to be more creative. Later, in her living room, Brenda told Alejo that his little prank of sneaking into her room was not very creative. He smiles and knows that she still liked. Brenda admits that she did like it, buts tells him not to be pulling any more pranks or climbing through her window. After Alejo jokes that next time he’ll come down the chimney, Brenda laughs and asks Ringo to see his friend out. She then tells Diego and Julia that what Alejo did was funny and he did it just to see her…it sent her self-esteem sky high. She suggests that Diego do something similar because he and Julia are a very boring couple. She then laughs and tells them she is just kidding.

Later, not only did Brenda congratulate Julia on her reconciliation with Diego, but she also added that she wanted Julia to make her an auntie ASAP. I think the smile Julia had was one of disbelief at her sister's hare-brained ideas.

I like that the writers are throwing in a bit of humor. Julia giving Ivan a shot in the rump; Alejo breaking into Brenda's room and Gauchin's look when he saw that Oso was with Rosa and heard how he had stolen some things from Oso brought some very welcome comic relief.

At the end, when Ringo brought Santi back from his day with Gloria and Turco, Santi was insisting that Ringo allow him to go to a school camp since his mother was going to pay for it. Ringo didn’t budge and told Santi it should be he who pays for the camp and since he doesn’t have the money, Santi can’t go. After Santi left pouting, Julia admitted that she had overheard everything. Ringo worries that Gloria and Turco are a bad influence on Santi since they buy him everything and give him money. Julia responded that Santi is a smart boy and will understand. She admires Ringo for trying to raise Santi so that he will grow into the good man Ringo is. Ringo then asks Julia what would have happened the previous night if Brenda hadn’t yelled out. Julia, replies, “I don’t know” as Ringo gets closer...and they left us wondering if they will lock lips.
More tomorrow...good night.

RINGO

Oh and BTW, I too felt like Looneyvision had done some snipping

It was ep.4 but the MX ep. was 52min, while Univision has been airing it for 42min. I don't watch it though

RINGO

Rgv CHick, thank you for explaining what in the heck Alejo was doing! Luckily, our little unhinged Brenda liked the idea otherwise there would have more shrieking and screaming! :) She is obviously toying with Alejo as she has her eyes on a different prize.

I too enjoyed Ivan getting needled (literally) and Gauchin's look of pure horror in seeing Oso at Rosa's. The little touches that give a bit of comic relief. Writers, keep it coming please!

And I did not understand the discussion about the camp. Thank you again! I am so grateful for your all seeing eye and kind words.

I think Julia is honorable and I don't see much (if anything) happening with Ringo until she ends things with Diego once and for all. Which mercifully will happen soon.

Alex, thanks for the info on the length of the episode. I had whiplash from trying to keep up with scenes that seemed rather disjointed. What a shame.

Diana

RINGO

Diana, thank you for the very fine recap. Very enjoyable. Loved the intro: “love at first sight.” I was cooking as I watched this and thought it was just me being distracted but it seems we all thought this was badly edited for some reason.

RgvChick, I agree about the writers providing some humor and yes! it is welcome.

Thanks, Alexander, for your continuing info.

Diana, I too wish that Julia would make a definitive break with Diego soon but I feel we are going to have to go through months of trials and tribulations. I felt that Diego must have heard me when he told Julia the wedding was off. I thought that was very realistic on his part. Sadly, it looks like Julia won’t take advantage of that situation with a veritable “get out of jail free card.” I gave Ringo credit for being up front with his feelings.

As for Ringo and his situation with his ex and his son, I really felt sorry for him trying to make a living and having to deal with the kid being “bought”.

Brenda is REALLY out in left field. Yikes!

Trivia: Yahir the singer who played Xavi Galán in MMTF sings the theme song “Tú conmigo.”

RINGO

Good morning Jarifa!

"Trials and Tribulations" for Julia indeed! Loved "Sadly, it looks like Julia won’t take advantage of that situation with a veritable “get out of jail free card" which was spot on. Sigh.

Thanks for the info on Yahir. I really liked him in MMTF. Great voice and good acting as well.

Diana

RINGO

Diana, I always look forward to reading your introductions. It is like having a discussion of life with a very wise friend-- those precious moments where you come away enriched rather than depleted. Some friends drain us, some bore us, but some, very special friends fill up our cup once again. You are like that very special friend for anyone reading your recaps.

I also got a chuckle out of this:

Alejo calls Brenda who looks less than thrilled. I suspect her attitude intrigues him. Alejo this is one challenge you don’t want to win. Trust me.

Oh my yes, when I saw that scene, I thought why is this fella barking up that particular tree? Nothing there, kid, believe me. Nothing but aggravation, anyway.

Oh well. Enjoying the chemistry between our two leads, and the wonderful rumble of Cesar Evora's voice. What a set of pipes that guy has!

Thanks querida amiga, this was a treat to read, and gave a depth and color to the episode that had not been there before.

RINGO

Forgot to add...loved the title too!

RINGO

Judy, thank you for your kind, very generous and thoughtful words. I am so happy you enjoyed the summary!

And you've already added your sparkling humor to my day with "I thought why is this fella barking up that particular tree? Nothing there, kid, believe me. Nothing but aggravation, anyway". A resounding belly laugh from me here at work.

I would love to close my eyes and just hear Cesar speak. And that wonderful laugh! A joy to the senses.

To your words, a "petite patio" in numbers but muy grand in spirit!

Diana

RINGO

Alexander, thanks for letting us know that our suspicions were accurate. So 10 minutes did get cut; in TN time, that is quite a bit!

Diana, I agree that Diana is being honorable (darn it!). She can't forget that she and Diego have been seeing each other for so many years, but she does admit that he has changed ever since he started working with her father; he has become very materialistic and doesn't support her cause against Llorente. She, still however, wants to go ahead with the wedding.

Jarifa, "Brenda is REALLY out in left field. Yikes!" Is she even IN the field? The woman is delusional and dangerously manipulative to the MAX! Julia was too quick to be forgiving (IMO) and I wish she had insisted on going to the therapist with Brenda.

JudyB, "the wonderful rumble of Cesar Evora's voice;" ah yes, the very soothing voice of our gruff and tough Oso whose tears overflow quite quickly. I am really enjoying seeing him here. I wonder why he is so against training women at his club. He was about to explain it to Rosa when Gauchin knocked on the door. Could it be that he holds a grudge against all women because of how Sandra broke his heart?

RINGO

Oh, Jarifa, thank you for telling us who sang the theme song. I kept trying to place the voice and I even saw "Yahir" in the credits, But. It. Just. Did. Not. CLICK!

Rgv Chick, you're so right about the time that was cut.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not sure any TN runs continuously for 10 straight minutes without commercial interruption except possibly the initial opening sequence before the credits roll.

I guess they decided to chop what filler they could without cutting anything critical which explains why we barely have time to register one scenes when bam! there's another to process.

Diana

Dear Diana,

Thank you so much for the recap. I especially loved your opening paragraphs. I , too, wonder why Ringo married someone like Gloria and what Julia ever saw in Diego. Ringo and Julia seem to be made for each other because they both have kind, gentle, loving hearts . I am happy to see characters with those traits after all the greed, violence, and casual sex featured in Cuna and Dragon. Also,I believe in love at first sight because I experienced it first hand .

Brenda is very weird . She is obsessed with Ringo, but it is not his gentle, kind, loving heart that attracts her to him . She has a nasty temper, too. Well, here we go with the good guys vs the bad guys.

Good afternoon Susanlynn.

Yes, it was hardly Ringo's "gentle, kind, loving heart" (as you so nicely put it) that attracted Brenda. But - no judgement here...Had I seen Ringo in his all glory at the art studio, well I probably would have been awestruck myself :)

Seriously, I think they are a great match and yes, it will be nice to have some true love after much bad love gone awry.

Diana

Diana, "Ringo in all his glory " gave me a giggle. P.s. My tablet insists on changing Ringo to Dingo...every single time! Also, I just read my last comment , and autocorrect changed caray to crazy. I give up. Ahhhhhhhh

O SusyQ,lol. Dingo and crazy crazy.now
That's funny.
Instead of "her" auto gives me "get" &
Lil comes out "lol". Auto correct is so very annoying.

RINGO
Ep 5, Part 1: Hard Knocks OR The Eyes Don’t Always Tell All

Ringo has asked Julia what would have happened if Brenda hadn’t yelled out. Julia doesn’t know. She and Diego have been together for several years…she can’t leave him because she knows he would be very hurt. She can’t do it. Ringo thinks that this speaks volumes about Julia and concedes that if it can’t be, then it can’t be.

Gauchin arrives at the club only to be chastised by Oso. He explains that he was not stealing the equipment; he was only borrowing it to help Rosa train; he was going to return everything. After Gauchin leaves, Sandra approaches asking for Ivan. Oso wouldn’t know anything about Ivan; that should be something Sandra should know since she is his secretary. Sandra thinks Oso is intolerable, but she’ll have to put up with him until after the fight. Oso suggests that she quit working for Ivan so that they won’t have to deal with each other, but Sandra won’t give him that pleasure. She suggests that Oso tell Ringo to look for another trainer; he’d be doing Ringo a favor. Just then, Rafa approaches and wonders what they are arguing about; so Oso explains that Garay asked Sandro to coordinate the plans for the fight between Ringo and Turco. After Oso leaves, Rafa and Sandra argue again about Rafa being a boxer. Rafa insists that he wants to be a boxer, so Sandra asks him to at least find another trainer. As Rafa responds that he wants to train in that club so that he can be close to his father, Rosa arrives and hears everything. Sandra finally notices that Rosa is listening so Rafa goes to ask Rosa not to say anything about what she heard. Ross thinks Rafa should tell his father who he is, but Rafa needs to find the right time. Rosa insists that he stop beating around the bush and “just do it!”

Eva arrives and laughs at the fact that Julia has Ivan and Manuel locked up together. Inside, Ivan and Manuel are going at each other. Ivan insists that he never took advantage of his sister and he ran Manuel out of the company because Manuel was bringing the company down. Manuel thinks Ivan made him leave because he was afraid Manuel would find out about his dirty dealings. Julia and Eva finally enter; so Ivan and Manuel go their separate ways.

Rafa is in Oso office and finally tells Oso that Sandra is his mother. After Oso asks how old he is and Rafa replies that he is 24 years old, Oso deduces that Sandra cheated on him and demands to know who Rafa’s father is. He names several men who he thinks may be Rafa’s father. Rafa tries to get in a word, but Oso is set on figuring out which of many men could be Rafa’s father. Rosa is right outside the door making faces because Rafa can’t get a word in. She finally enters and signals at Rafa to say something.

Somewhere outside, Ringo apologizes to Santi for not being able to send him on the school camp. He promises that better times will come when he starts fighting again. When he tells Santi that he will be a champion again, Santi tells him that he has always been his champion…and they hug. Very sweet!

Diego is in his office and calls Guadalupe who hadn’t heard from him in a long time. Diego has a problem and wants her help. Gloria agrees to go to his office since she is nearby.

Brenda calls Ringo who is having lunch with Alejo. Brenda insists that she pose for him so that she can finish her painting. Alejo convinces Ringo to say yes…he has his owns plans.

RINGO
Ep 5, Part 2: Hard Knocks OR The Eyes Don’t Always Tell All

Lupe arrives at Diego’s office. He tells her that he is having a house built, but the architect is doing a bad job. He wants Lupe to take over, but Lupe worries that Julia may not be in agreement since Julia hates her father (Llorente) and thinks he is a murderer. Diego assures her that there won’t be a problem since she and her father are totally different. After he tells her that he will pay her well, Lupe agrees to do the job…but not for the money. She likes the idea that Diego will owe her a favor.

Ringo goes to see Oso who is still upset. Ringo asks what is wrong, but Oso doesn’t even want to talk about it. Oso then asks Ringo if he wants to fight Sanchez that night. Ringo agrees since it is only an exhibition fight. Teresa enters and chides him for agreeing to fight; if he does so, he might as well forget he has a mother. Ringo tries to calm her down and explains that he can pay for Santi’s camp with the money he will earn. Julia arrives and Teresa recruits her to help talk to the stone face.

Brenda arrives expecting to see Ringo nekked, but she is surprised to see Alejo in his skivvies posing. After Alejo tells her that he is crazy about her, Brenda tells him to give it up since she and Ringo are together…they are in luurve, but they have to keep it a secret for now. Alejo is just too late!

Julia asks Ringo if he is going to fight; so Ringo explains why he agreed to the fight. Just then, Diego calls to tell Julia that they won’t be going to check on their house since he fired the architect. After Julia ends the call, Ringo asks her if she will be going to watch him fight, but they are interrupted by Gabriela Soto (no relation to Gabriel Soto), a health inspector, who tells Julia that she needs to check her office. She clears Julia and tells her she can start seeing patients.

Rosa goes to see Julia. She wants her to check her, but she has no money. Julia asks what is wrong so Julia tells her that she has been getting headaches…she works at the Llorente factory.

In the training area, Oso looks at Damasio and Rafa who are standing side-by-side; he thinks they look exactly alike and accuses Damasio of messing around with Sandra. Damasio obviously denies being with Sandra, but Osos grabs him. After Ringo separates them, Oso tells him that Sandra cheated on him; that is why she disappeared. Oso prefers to talk about something else because his heart is in shambles. Just then Gloria arrives demanding to talk to Ringo.

Julia tells Rosa that she worries about people who work at the factory; the chemicals are affecting them. Though Rosa only does the cleaning, she could still be feeling the effects of the chemicals. Julia and Rosa then hear Gloria yelling at Ringo so they quietly go out to listen.

Gloria argues with Ringo about letting Santi go to camp. Ringo tells her that Santi will be going to camp since he will be fighting that night. After Gloria leaves, Julia approaches so Ringo asks again if she will be attending the fight. When Julia tells him that she can’t go, Ringo understands and won’t insist. Before leaving, Julia wishes him well.

Oso talks to himself. He is still thinking of men who Sandra could have cheated on him with. Ringo approaches as Oso rakes himself over the coals for being such an imbecile...he even wrote Sandra a song! He then tells Ringo that Rafa is Sandra’s son…who looks exactly like Damasio. Ringo distracts Oso by bringing up his fight.

RINGO
Ep 5, Part 3: Hard Knocks OR The Eyes Don’t Always Tell All

At night, Ringo is getting ready for his match. Alejo is there and chides Ringo for not telling him that he had a thing going with Brenda. Ringo explains that there is nothing and reminds Alejo that he warned him about Brenda…she tends to make things up.

Brenda meets Santi and introduces herself. When Santi tells her that Ringo is fighting , but her grandma won’t even let him watch the fight on TV, Brenda tells Santi that he can go with her to see the fight.

Sanchez goes to see Ringo before the fight. Oso is there so Sanchez talk before the fight asks about Sandra, He thinks Oso was the lucky guy since Sandra had them all “dragging their blankets” after her. After Sanchez leaves, Oso thinks Sanchez may be the “other man.”

Eva asks Julia to go out to have dinner with her. Julia mentions that she is waiting for Diego, but then suggests that they go have dinner at a restaurant near where Diego works. They can go surprise him at his office.

At the boxing arena, the audience cheers at Ringo and Sanchez. Teresa is watching TV along with others as the fight is about to start, but she doesn’t want to see Ringo get hurt so she goes off to look for Santi. The referee reminds Ringo and Sanchez that this is an exhibition fight and there should be no hard hits. Before they start, Oso goes up and demands to know why Sanchez asked about Sandra, but he is escorted out of the ring. Oso looks at Sanchez closely and thinks that Rafa has Sanchez’s same eyes.

The fight starts and Sanchez goes at Ringo full force as the spectators yell out that it is supposed to be an exhibition match. At the cafeteria, Teresa goes back and tells everyone that she can’t find Santi. Meanwhile, Brenda and Santi sit at the arena to watch the fight.

Diego is meeting with Lupe who is telling him about everything she observed at his house. Julia and Eva arrive and listen from the door. Julia watches as Lupe gives Diego a bottle of wine so they can drink together. After Diego tells Lupe that he wants the house finished in two weeks, Julia and Eva leave unnoticed.

Ringo and Sanchez are going at it, Ringo reminds him that it is an exhibition fight but Sanchez “forgot” and continues throwing hard punches. Ringo finally throws in his own hard punches. Alejo yells at Ringo to keep away from Sanchez, but Ringo and Sanchez ignore all warnings. After men try to separate them, Oso comes into the ring and tries to punch Sanchez saying “This is for Sandrita!” but he misses and hits the clown.

Teresa calls Gloria and chides her for taking Santi again without permission, but Gloria denies having Santi and Turco assures Teresa that Santi is not there. When Teresa tells Gloria that they can’t find Santi, Gloria and Turco rush off to Teresa’s place. Damasio comes and tells Teresa that they can’t find Santi anywhere.

RINGO
Ep 5, Part 4: Hard Knocks OR The Eyes Don’t Always Tell All

Julia and Eva return to Julia’s house. Eva thinks there is something going on between Lupe and Diego since they both know Lupe well. Eva wonders why Julia didn’t enter Diego’s office and thinks that it’s because Julia doesn’t want to find out what type of person Diego really is. Julia prefers to wait and hear Diego’s explanation. Ivan enters as Diego arrives and lies to Ivan about where he was. Julia takes note, but says nothing.

Oso worries that the clown is going to file charges against him. Ringo and Alejo assure him that the clown will be fine.

Ringo arrives at Teresa’s place to find Gloria who is having a hissy fit because Ringo left Santi in Teresa’s care and now Santi is missing. Ringo makes some calls to see if some of Santi’s friends have heard from him. No luck. Alejo suggests that they call the cops.

Diego and Ivan are watching Ringo’s fight. Diego worries that Ringo is not at Turco’s level, but Ivan thinks that the arena will be full since Ringo lost his title to Turco. While Ivan answers a call, Julia asks Diego again where he was, but he gets a call from Lupe and pretends to be talking to someone else...which Lupe enjoys since she knows that he must be with Julia.

Ringo calls Manuel who is also helping with the search for Santi. Breda approaches crying and apologizing. Before Ringo can say anything, he sees Santi. Turco found him and makes sure Ringo knows it. He tells Ringo that if Santi were living with him, this would not have happened. Gloria starts in on Teresa, but Turco blames the orangutan for what happened. After they leave, Ringo wonders why Santi would leave by himself, so Santi tells Ringo that he didn’t leave on his own, he left with Brenda.

ETERNO

LOOKS LIKE kemal IS IN THE RUNNING AGAIN.
HE AND EMIR HAD A bidding war GOING.
AND NIhAN IS THE PRIZE. It appears she's worth a wopping 140 million dollars. But I think thats something else in turkish currencey. EMIR GOT ABIT DISTRACTED. HE is FINALLY GONNA FIND OUT WHO HIS SIBBLING is. I took a peak at the third season, some thing wonky is goin On there. Yall be the judge, if you see it that is.

Marvelous Rgv Chick!

Fantastic title. You write so exceptionally well and your dialog translations were just perfect. Thank you for bringing this to life so vibrantly, and in true "living color".

So many exceptional lines, let's start with: "Brenda arrives expecting to see Ringo nekked, but she is surprised to see Alejo in his skivvies posing". My favorite scene of the night was when Ringo and Oso tried again to tell Alejo Brenda is not fully mind endowed. Oso making the little cuckoo for coco puffs sign had me laughing (politically incorrect and all).

Sanchez wasn't a man he was a mountain.

Oso is an interesting character. Seemingly so cranky and gruff, he proved last night he is a big, insecure, emotional, delusional cream puff.

"dJulia tells Rosa that she worries about people who work at the factory; the chemicals are affecting them". Ahhh, the next drama.

"When he tells Santi that he will be a champion again, Santi tells him that he has always been his champion…" was so sweet.

I admit I was so tired I feel asleep for a few quick minutes but I could not figure out who Lupe is. I sense she is up to no good - as is Diego :)

Lest we forget, while at first mildly amusing, Brenda does need help as evidenced by her spiriting Santi away.

Lastly, Julia is in denial. A smart woman making a very bad romantic choice. Let's hope she rectifies that soon.

Rgv Chick, you've made my day. Thank you for your talent and dedication...

Diana

RINGO

Thanks for that detailed recap RGV CHICK. The writers are continuing to establish the characters of all the players. We know that Julia is noble and compassionate. And also that her love for Diego has cooled but she can't bring herself to hurt him with a breakup. Diego is a liar and a flirt, and looks potentially very untrustworthy and slimy in his business dealings. Can we assume he's pursuing a marriage with Julia, solely because of her father? Alejo is a player, and loves going after the girls who are hard to get. He's already caught every female in the vicinity who's easily available. Except poor Eva who yearns for him in vain. So he's going after crazy Brenda. Interesting. Have to say, I enjoyed checking out his muscle development as well. No wonder those shirts are so tight!

I know we were supposed to find the "lockdown" of Ivan and Manuel funny, but I didn't. Sounds like there are serious, unresolved problems between them. And lots of defensiveness and stonewalling.

Also, did not find Oso's instant belief that his wife? girlfriend? was unfaithful, because of his son's time of birth. But I guess it's better to laugh at the macho suspicion of infidelity than to weep over it. Still, not funny to me.

José Ron is certainly bringing the 'hunk o' burning love" look, every time he turns those orbs on Julia. Normally, I don't find him attractive, but he's coming off very well here. The oily, Hitlerian Diego doesn't stand a chance!

Thanks RGV CHICK. Wonderfully told and incredibly detailed in every way.

RINGO

Gracias, RGVChick, for taking this one on.

I second the question about whatever made Ringo marry Gloria in the first place. She is a selfish rhymes-with-witch whom I suspect doesn't really love Santi. She seems more motivated to hurt her ex than to be a mother to their son. Allowing him to play hooky from school is not going to have a good effect in the long run, especially since the boy likes school and is doing well in it.

As for Brenda, I want to slap her into next week. She is clingy, has stupid hair, and is also far too selfish for a divorced dad who also needs somebody more mature than she is.

Now for Rosa...

I didn't see the other comments but she is wearing her hair like Hilary Swank did in Million Dollar Baby. I hope that is not a foreshadowing of what will ultimately happen to her.

RINGO

Thank you, Diana, JudyB, and UA.

Diana, "Oso is an interesting character. Seemingly so cranky and gruff, he proved last night he is a big, insecure, emotional, delusional cream puff." You have Oso perfectly pegged. Unbelievable that he thought of every possible man that Sandra could have messed around with except himself. And why didn't Rafa just blurt the truth out? Judy, " I guess it's better to laugh at the macho suspicion of infidelity than to weep over it. Still, not funny to me." I agree, it was not funny..more like exasperating.

JudyB, YA! Lots of muscle to ogle :-) In regards to Arturo Carmona, his dress shirts are not even close to as tight as he wore them on "Ramon." I was always afraid buttons would go flying back then.
JudyB, you've just started watching the show yet you already have so much insight into the characters. Wonderful descriptions of each one!

UA, that braided hair seems to be favored for women who are supposed to be tough as nails. I remember Luisa from Doble Vida, Penelope in La Bella y Las Bestias, and currently Juana Barbara in Las Hijas de la Luna. Of those that I have seen, Rosa seems to be the more emotional one and the one with the smallest chip on her shoulder.

Brenda is just plain WACKO. She really needs to be locked up before she hurts someone.

Ozan meets Zeynep outside the red gates. He claims that he spoke with his family and they will all ask her for forgiveness. Zeynep says that she came to ask for the divorce. He swears to her that everything will change. She claims that she loves him but wants the divorce anyway. She had other dreams when they got married but everything went downhill after. His mother accused her of not carrying his baby, and Nihan doesn’t want her back either. Ozan is speechless. Zeynep tells him she wants to continue with her life, but alone. “I’m sorry to say this, but I will divorce you.”
“I will not accept this,” Ozan says. He begs her again. Zeynep stays quiet for a short while until she says that there is one way that she’d stay: she takes out some papers and hands them to him. She wants him to sign a prenuptial agreement. She tells him where to sign. Zeynep claims the lawyer wrote down some clauses so that she would be protected in case they throw her out of the home with her baby. Ozan isn’t sure what to do, but Zeynep says that without the protection of that paper she will not return home. She kisses him and says “I honestly love you.” She walks away. Ozan folds the paper back up and enters the home.

Emir is drinking coffee in the living room, and Nihan is staring back at him. Vildan and Onder are with them. Ozan comes and his parents asked what Zeynep told him. Ozan stays quiet but glares at Nihan. Nihan asks if Zeynep said something about her. Ozan retorts “No, or did you say something to her that none of us know about?” Emir dismisses that statement and says that he should go upstairs and think about his problem, rather han make this everyone else’s problem. Ozan tells everyone not to bother him. He goes up to his room, hiding the paper.

Tariq is caressing Banu’s face. He says that he knows she’s not sleeping, that whenever she doesn’t like something she feigns she’s sleeping to not discuss anything with him. He continues to say that she didn’t do anything wrong, she’s fulfilling his life and he knows she’s the one. “It would be beautiful if we could spend the rest of our lives together. We would be happy old people.” Tariq gets down on his knees and Banu sits up. He takes out a ring and asks her to accept being his wife. “You’re the woman I want to love, forever. You don’t have to say anything because I swear to you that I’ll put in effort.” Banu nods her head and he fully confirms if she accepts him. He’s grateful and starts kissing and hugging her. Banu, however, does not look relieved and her eyes look like she’s been crying for a while.

Emir gets an anonymous text that claims his brother could be handed over to him during the charity dinner event. He gets excited.

Asu visits her uncle. She requests that their revenge plans be cancelled. Hakki brushes it off and says they’ve already discussed it. Asu tells him that things are getting out of hand and now she has Kemal going after her. She wants the evidence to be handed over to Kemal so that he’ll go after Emir. She asks him again to please finish this already. Hakki asks “and what if Nihan and Kemal get back together?” Asu says “that won’t happen. They’ve been finished a while ago. They won’t get back together.” Hakki says she can’t be so sure of that. Asu claims that is unimportant to them anyway, because she doesn’t want to be found out. Hakki shames her and says “This isn’t the way I raised you.” As he walks out the door and says “I want to see you determined tomorrow.” Asu calls Tufan and says “You were right. Everything is going as planned.” Tufan smiles.

The Soydere family is eating dinner. Hussein asks Kemal to call Tariq. Kemal says he will do it, but asks why they didn’t tell him about dinner instead. Fehime changes the subject and happily asks about Asu and claims that she’s a good, decent girl and very different. Kemal concurs. Hussein asks Zeynep to go rest because she’s looking pale. She claims that she’s fine: “Why wouldn’t I be fine? They’re the ones who should be ashamed.” Fehime supports her daughter and says “Don’t say that, maybe they’ll change their minds. If this continues though, your marriage won’t work. But you shouldn’t give up upon the first problem that presents itself.” Hussein says “This isn’t a problem where you can just take a break. Both of you are going to have a son and you need to think things through. This attitude of yours won’t work.” Zeynep agreed with him but adds that if this doesn’t work out, she’ll get a divorce.

Kemal gets a call from Tufan and excuses himself from the table. Tufan tells him that his message was handed over to the boss (Emir’s brother), under the request that once this is all done he leaves everything alone and never bothers him again about this matter. Kemal accepts the conditions. Tufan tells him to wait for his phone call.

Hussein and Fehime are asking Zeynep about the conditions she wants to not divorce Ozan. When Kemal walks back into the living room, Fehime tells him that Zeynep is going to get a divorce. Kemal asks Zeynep what her conditions are. Zeynep says “I just want Ozan to be with me and supporting my decisions.” Kemal says this is absurd and that she should have listened to him at the start. She shouldn’t have stepped foot in that home. Kemal doesn’t think that she’s happy. Hussein wants to know if she is or not. Zeynep looks cornered and says “Well Ozan is a good man, that is, I love Ozan.” Kemal asks “But are you happy?”
She responds with “I am when I am with Ozan.” Kemal comments that with her constantly changing attitudes Ozan won’t take her seriously. He tells her “Divorce Ozan if you’re unhappy. I’lll be there to support you and the baby. But you should be aware that you’re affecting the entire family with your decisions.”

Tariq comes into the living room and asks who they are interrogating now. Hussein says that Zeynep is here, Tariq says “Let me guess what’s happening. She had a fight with Ozan and his mother, right?” Hussein asks Tariq if he came over just to insult them. Tariq drops the bomb that he’s going to get married. Fehime immediately says that over her dead body Tariq will marry that woman. Tariq reproaches her for confronting Banu and making her feel bad. He asks Hussein if he knew that she went to attack Banu. Not getting an answer, he says that of course he knew. Hussein tells him to watch his words because they’re his parents. Tariq says that regardless of everyone’s opinion, this marriage will happen, and it will be soon. Fehime says she won’t go to the wedding. “That’s your loss,” he retorts. Hussein raises his voice and tells him again to respect them. Fehime is appalled her son told her his wedding would be her loss. Kemal follows Tariq out of the living room and tries to talk some sense into Tariq, who says he’s tired of being treated like a child. Kemal says “Do you see now? Do you see how difficult it is?” Tariq says that the two situations are not the same. Kemal says that he needs to think well about his decision because he can’t just tell his parents that he’ll never see them again. He requests that Tariq convince his parents first, so that Banu won’t suffer as Zeynep is suffering now. Tariq walks away without saying anything.

Nina, I caught that bidding war. Everyone seemed to be waiting for Kemal and Emir to go at each other. The only reason Emir stopped bidding was because he got a call that there was a lead for him upstairs; so he quickly left the bidding. I don't think he will find his brother just yet since he is only getting "a lead."

Asu opens the safe and takes out a small black case with numbered flash drives. Hakki comes in and demands to know what she’s doing. “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself Asu?” He says. He takes the drives from her and says “Go! Get out of here now!” She scurries out and manages to take with her drive #9. She puts it in her purse. Meanwhile, Hakki is locking his safe with a new code. He didn’t notice.

At the charity dinner event, accordion music is playing. Emir is spacing out and Nihan asks him what he’s up to: “If you’re going to do something bad, I warn you not to do it here.” Emir says “What are you saying, my love?”

Galip is with Leyla. He says “Whenever I speak with you I suddenly feel young.” Leyla says “But you’re not.” Galip tried to describe his feelings for her but she calls him naive. “I wonder if you’ll feel the same way when we finish off Onder,” he says. “I wonder that too,” she says and walks away. At the same time Vildan tells Onder that she’s amused that Leyla is friends with Galip. Onder tells her “She’s your sister, are you really that surprised?”

Yasemin tells Nihan that she needs to stop looking around the entire room, like a novela character. Nihan says that she’s not tense because of Kemal, but rather because she wants to get enough donations for the charity. She asks her not to bother her about that again. Emir shows up and Yasemin leaves. Emir asks Nihan “Are you learning how to do shadow puppets? Athos, Porthos and Aramis also came. The three musketeers.” At that moment, Asu appears with Kemal, and they pose for photos. Nihan says “Are you going to bother me the whole night with this?” Emir claims that he has better things to do and leaves her alone. Yasemin goes back to her friend’s side.

Leyla asks Kemal where Hakki is, and she’s told he wasn’t feeling well. She hopes that he gets better.

Zeynep appears in a nude dress with black sequins, showing a full on bloated fish face. She seems overdressed for this event. “I’m here to be with Ozan so that the people don’t invent things,” she tells Vildan. Soon out of earshot from everyone, Zeynep asks him if he’s sure. Ozan hands her the signed letter. “You’ll come back now, right?” He asks. She confirms and says “Now I feel more secure than ever before.”

Kemal watches them together and looks uncomfortable. Suddenly Emir is at his side and says “I’ve always hated these events but now it’s worse: I’m here with the most repugnant man possible.” Kemal says he could always not have come to the event at all, but he knows that then he wouldn’t have an opportunity to bother everyone. Emir ignores the comment because he’s anxious to get an anonymous message regarding his brother’s identity.

Nihan shows Leyla how much money has been raised so far. Nihan calls it a fiasco. Leyla suggests they do like “Gone with the wind,” and dance the way Scarlett O’Hara did when they had an auction. Leyla gets a microphone and addresses the crowd. She tells them she’s auctioning herself and Nihan off for a dance. Galip claps loudly and everyone follows. Vildan calls this scandalous. Leyla starts Nihan off. Emir makes a $30,000 offer. Galip offers $40,000. Nihan smiles. Kemal makes a $60,000 bid. Leyla calls him generous. Emir makes $100,000. Nihan starts to get uncomfortable. Kemal goes with $120,000. Emir makes a $130,000 bid, but he gets the message just then: “I’m here. Go up the stairs to the executive floor. In your office you’ll find the first clue.” Emir is excited and does as told, forgetting about the bid. Kemal takes the opportunity to go with $140,000. Nihan looks unhappy and Leyla closes the bid. Asu looks depressed. Leyla apologizes to Nihan that things ended up like this and calls Kemal over for his dance. He looks a little smug.

Emir goes up the stairs and takes one look at the guests from the second floor banister. Kemal notices when Emir goes out of sight. Nihan walks up to Kemal right then, unhappy.

*****
Nina, I’m not sure if Kemal is trying to win Nihan back or just trying to get revenge. I think he’s going to tell her that he’s moved on, just like he did in his dream a few nights ago. But that auctioning does highlight again how Kemal kind of treats Nihan as a possession. It’s like neither of them should have her.

I also saw a bit of next season and it looks intense. We’ll see how this one ends.

I’d like to know what Ozan signed off on. He doesn’t own anything to pass onto Zeynep. Also how is that prenuptial agreement valid when they’re married already? I was wondering if he signed off on a confession that she’ll use to blackmail the Sezins, but he could easily read that on the paper? Unless, of course, he doesn’t care if she uses that to get his family back in line. I don’t honk I’ve ever seen such a dumb selfish character like Ozan. Nihan should tell him off already: she looks like she’s starting to lose her patience with him.

ETERNO

AnonFri, sorry I broke the flow of your recap but thanks for catching me up to everything that I missed last night. Does Kemal ever smile?

RINGO

Good afternoon everyone.

Judy, I had thought Eva had a bit of a crush on Alejo, so thank you for confirming that. When he is near her, he looks just - uncomfortable. Perhaps he knows that is the woman he should be interested in. But, he seems to want who he can't (and shouldn't) get.

UA, very interesting comment on Rosa's hair in relation to the tragic Million Dollar Baby. Rgv Chick, your comment on others sporting similar 'do's and "Of those that I have seen, Rosa seems to be the more emotional one and the one with the smallest chip on her shoulder" is spot on. Interesting we've not seen her child.

Diana

RINGO

Thank you, RgvChick for your excellent recap. I finally had a chance to see this one today.

Just a lot of annoyances in this one: Santi should know by now not to go with strangers and Brenda was a stranger/ grandma should have been watching Santi well enough so he couldn’t make a bad decision so they all gave Gloria did have a point there/Oso going on and on and not letting anyone finish to tell him the truth of his imagined dilemma and carrying it into the ring. They made him too goofy and I didn’t find him funny. /Ringo taking Alejo’s advice and agreeing to Brenda’s request when he knows she is nuts already. Hasn’t he learned his lesson yet? / Julia still planning to marry Diego out of a sense of duty especially after hearing him flirting with Guadalupe?

I did Ike that Julia was having Rosa tested for chemical contamination of some sort even though she only did cleaning at the factory. That was a good PSA.

Diana, Julia is clearly in denial. I wonder if she will just go along with the wedding in two weeks because she does not have the guts to break up with slimy Diego.

JudyB, “oily Hitlerian look” is a perfect description of Diego.

Urban, interesting comparison to “Million Dollar Baby”

RgvChick, yes! Brenda needs some special kind of residential care. LOL

Looking forward to hopefully some better decision making by this cast of characters on Monday.

Hello,

RGV Chick,

I didn’t notice! But you’re welcome.

Kemal has been very gloomy lately but prior to All of the problem piling up on him, he was smiling more often. It’s a little reminiscent of William Levy. I think Clara was the one who saw the resemblance first. I know many don’t see it, but I do, at least with the way this character is styled for the novela. Hopefully better days for him come soon. He’s a very handsome man.

AnonFri

RINGO
Chickie, thank you for that detailed recap.

I have noticed that the "bad" girls have odd hairdos...Gloria has kind of a skunk look going with white streaks in her jet black hair and Brenda has that topknot.

I really do not like to see guys punching each other. I always hated watching Hub wrestle when we were dating. Since there is no weight limit for high school heavyweight wrestlers , he sometimes was matched with huge guys who weighed much more than he did . ...like the match between that mountainlike guy and poor Ringo.

Nina...hi . I always love to read your comments.

Susanlynn, love the “skunk look going” comment!

Honey she lost her patience with baby bro 2 months ago. And so did I.

You're right Anon they are both treating her like a possession. But kemal just really loves her, emir just don't like to loose anything or body he thinks is his. And apparently he's had that thought about nihan ever since they were kids. I don't think he was always that way, Galip probly thought he owned his Wife. And he was not about to loose Majur to another man, so he pushes her Off a ledge, and baby boy emir gets to See her fall. I can just imagine the story he Spun to emir when he was that little boy and the crap he thought him, which is Why he's the monster he is now. But He is not a kid anymore. He is of the age of accountability. And he don't give a dam. He wants what he wants and he is willing to kill for it. He's a Sick bastard.

Why is Leyla laughing with Galip? Wasn't she suppose to not like him? I don't like seeing her acting like she likes him, he's the one that started emir on the road to hell. Nothing good will Come of anything with him. She'd better be careful.

Zeynep is a hot mess. That don't know
Which end is up. She got many anvils
Coming her way.

Asu is another hot mess. A tn full of
Hot messes. How will it all end?

Thank you AnonFri.

YES! HE! IS!

RINGO

Thanks, Diana and Rgv Chick. Such a treat catching up with Ringo this weekend with your recaps.

I can't stand Diego. The fact that he hasn't lifted a finger to help Julia with her fight against the factory tells me he's selfish. But I thought he was in love with Julia, until this business with Lupe.

Brenda getting Alejo in his skivvies instead of Ringo was too funny. After she walked off with Santi though, everybody needs to realize she needs serious help. Her trips to the therapist haven't done a bit of good.

Hoping Oso finds out quick he's Rafa's daddy, before he accuses yet another man, or hits another clown.

Time for Julia to call off that wedding to creepy Diego. Those adoring looks she gives Ringo are obvious. Brenda will not be pleased.

RINGO

Susanlynn, ITA! Julia is deadset on marrying a person she knows she doesn;t love but is doing so just to spare him some hurt. I seriously doubt Diego would be hurt, angry, yes, but not hurt. I had to laugh at your "skunk look" Skunk...skank...not much of a difference :-)

Diana, "I had thought Eva had a bit of a crush on Alejo..." It does seem that Eva is interested in Alejo, but IIRC, Javier is interested in Eva. IIRC, during the first episode, he was excited that he had gone out with her.

Jarifa, I too found Oso's going on and on about who the "other man" could be. I'm not liking what they are doing with his character. Such a great actor...que lastima.

Niecie, I'm at the "can't stand Diego" table with you.
