HIJAS #58 IT'S ALWAYS DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN

Part 1

Well, it's balls to the wall time in Mazatlán, Patio. The sulphuric fumes from the depths of Hell have arisen once again; Alberto the swine is plotting mayhem on two of our Juanas; Dario is tightening the screws on Sebastian; and Estefania is merrily going along with all this. How low our angel has fallen!

On the other hand, Leo's continuing love for Juan has finally led her to visit him in jail with clean clothes, a freshly cooked meal, his favorite chocolates and even a sympathetic tear or two. He's worried sick about her; she's worried sick about him. What's not to love? Well, actually I don't like her outfit. It looks like a cheap imitation of a Navajo blanket. But other than that...

Here's how things started off. Sol, Mau, Octavio and Inés are having a séance and a Death's Head [calaca] appears. They all vamoose. Meanwhile Daddy Dario and Steffi are plotting how to rid Mazatlán of the inconvenient Juanas, Barb and Vicky. Although Steff still thinks Vicky is "bonita" and Barb is irrelevant, she's fine with getting 'em both chased off. And the sooner the better!

Teresa wakes up in Todoelmundo's arms. They decide they both like it and go back to snooze some more. Fully clothed. No lovemaking yet. Just realizing how comfortable they are with each other. Later Mundito wakes up, still complaining about the pain in his knees. But Tere reassures him that the medication given will take care of that problem.

As always, the best part of the episode is Leo and Petunia. For sure, there appears to be a real relationship between the animal and the actress. Petunia snuggles in to listen closely to Leo's lament about her husband. And then noses up to give her a kiss. Clearly these two have bonded. Even though Leo rudely complains that her fella is locked up "like an animal". "Sin ofender, sin ofender" she apologizes to Petu. Who accepts graciously.

It's all sweetness and light until the sky darkens and night comes. Marg and Barb are huddled in a small bed together, Juana Victoria is sleeping like a log and in creeps the nefarious Alberto, ready to avenge himself on the two Juanas who helped send him to prison. Seb is sleepless that evening, but not sleepless enough. Evil Alberto has Juana Victoria pinned to the bed and is conflicted---hmmm...take care of business or have a little fun with the chickie? Fortunately this is an afternoon show and nothing worse ensues. He tells her she has to clear out of Mazatlan and take Juana Barbara with her. And so all three of them, Marg included, hightail it out of the Blue House and down to the bus station. Once they climb in and the bus departs, evil Alberto follows them in his car. But not before confiding in Dario that his part of the vengeance is just beginning. He has worse planned for those two gals!

HIJAS #58 IT'S ALWAYS DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN

Part 2

Seb has finally gone to sleep but he's having a terrible nightmare. There's a casket in front of him. He opens it up to find Papi Juan inside, glaring and shouting "Why didn't you save me!!!??? You let me die!" Well, looks like Seb is really feeling the pressure to cave to Dario, don't you think?

Meanwhile, back at the the bus, Vicky is finally letting Barb and Marg know about the trick Ernesto played on Juan that has landed Ernesto in the hospital and Juan in jail. Further laments about the fact that none of them have a peso to their name and Marg's lovely romance with Xavier has been nipped in the bud. Yep, things are looking mighty bleak for our gals right now. Still, Barb tells them to stop with the sniveling, already! Enough!

Soledád and Inés awake to find Vicky's note in Barb's bed explaining their absence. They're off to Mexico City and Monterrey to take care of some "business". And when Fernando arrives looking for Juana Victoria, he shares the news about Juan being put in jail. Fortunately, Soledad has a plan for fixing that. Sure hope it works! Ernesto would no doubt like to be sprung from the hospital anyway. He's having severe alcohol withdrawal problems. Dario is unsympathetic. But he pretends to be when Steffi, in a minuscule black and white postage stamp outfit, comes in to plead for Juan's release. Seems that Leonora is not the only one who has a soft spot for our Papi Juan. Seb, on the other hand is getting the bad news that between the fine, the set bail and the hospital costs for Ernesto's care, the bill comes to one and a half million pesos. He's gobsmacked. As is his lawyer. Alas, the latter's stutter is so pronounced Seb has to finish all his sentences for him. Not funny, Televisa, not funny.

Just in case we've started to relax, the camera keeps panning to evil, slavering, red-eyed Alberto still spying on the gals. They're talking with the former landlady about how Vicky's apartment was cleaned out, leaving them no place to stay. No problem. She'll let them doss down in the rooftop apartment that she usually rents out to students. No money? Well, she'll let them stay anyway. And pay later.

Oh yeah, paying later. That's Dario's strategy also. When Seb grovels in, accepting the proposition to marry Estefania in return for dinero, Dario really makes him sweat. "Hey dude, what happened to your pride? And your declaration that you're not for sale!...I'm not even sure I want you to marry my daughter. Messing with one of your sisters...that's repulsive!"

"But, he continues, "my daughter is obsessed with you. So I'll continue to negotiate. But you're not getting the money to spring your dad right away."

HIJAS #58 IT'S ALWAYS DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN

Part 3

Dario, having the time of his life now, has called in a lawyer in to type up a pre-nuptial agreement. Once complete, it will have to be signed in front of a notary. And basically the terms are this: if there's any infidelity or other moral transgression on Sebastian's part, the deal is null and void. And Seb will have to pay back the money plus interest. Further more, if Sebastian hurts his little princess or makes her sad in any way, well...Daddy Dario will KILL HIM!

Hmmm, well, glad we got THAT clarified.

Sebastian, curled up practically in the fetal position, simply asks "How long will it take to get the money?"

"As long as it takes," smirks his suegro.

And then, there's the LOOK. Not the lovey-dovey one. The "I've got you by the short hairs and I'm relishing every minute of it" LOOK.

Meanwhile, help is at hand. Soledád is disguising herself as a doctor, Inés as a nurse with cleavage and a lot of thigh. I'm thinking Ernesto will be real glad to see them. They're hoping to find out that his injuries are fabricated and spring Juan out of the hoosegow themselves.

Steffi, now in the office, is concerned that Papa John is still in prison, but delighted to hear that Sebastian is about to ask for her hand in marriage.

" But wait, why would he, if just a few days ago, he wanted to break up?" she muses.

"Well, he clearly thought better of it," quips Dad. "I mean...you DO still want to marry him, right?"

Steffi pauses. Thinks. And doesn't answer.

And there we end. Cliffhanger? Maybe? Stay tuned. And don't start biting your nails. I'm more worried about our gals in Mexico City and the low-down hound Alberto who's lurking nearby. Aren't you?

HIJAS

Thank you for another wonderful recrap, Judy! It’s not looking good for the home team right now, is it? The drama builds.

”Well, actually I don't like her outfit. It looks like a cheap imitation of a Navajo blanket.”
No, it was not a good outfit today.

It looked like Petu was surely going to kiss Leo on the lips. She was maybe 1/2 inch away. Awwwww… goat smoochies!

”evil, slavering, red-eyed Alberto” is just so perfect a description of that scumbag!

”Further more, if Sebastian hurts his little princess or makes her sad in any way, well...Daddy Dario will KILL HIM!”
Nothing like a happy ever after marriage, right? No pressure.

And yes, Patio, I am definitely more worried about our girls in the big city where the Big Bad Wolf is going to catch up with them. And you know what? It IS a big city. How the heck will he find them? Oh never mind. That scumbag found Marina & Co. (SinTuMirada) in all of Mexico City, so these girls are sitting ducks, too. I’ve got to start wearing my telenovela beanie hat more often.

VOCABULARIO: This about this, Patio:
esposado = handcuffed; as in Ernie is handcuffed to the bed
esposar = (v.) to handcuff (infinitive form)
esposa = (v.) handcuff (present tense verb, as in “while he handcuffs the prisoner…”/mientras esposa al prisionero
esposa = (n.) wife, as in: the old “ball & chain” of sorts…
So, yay Spanish. Eso me molesta. I might need a kinder-to-us-girls language to study. LOL

HIJAS ... p.s.

Oh yes, my other new vocabulary word today, my reward for watching this silly telenovela, is:
“business” = business …. As in, I have to take care of some business in Mexico City.
;-)

HIJAS

Thank you for this lovely, warming fire on a bitter cold day here Judy.

I love the title, its wisdom in everything that it implies. Perfect choice!

"Sin ofender, sin ofender" she apologizes to Petunia. Who accepts graciously" was of course my favorite. I do not doubt for a moment that actress and animal have bonded. I've heard goats are very loving which I'm sure our own Rgv Chick can attest to.

"Death's Head [calaca]" was wonderful but "slavering" was a highlight! You manage to use incredible, rarely used words that always sparkle and shine.

I wonder when Sebas will grow a spine and extricate himself from Steffi.

Thanks to Anita and doris for your recaps. doris, your vocabulary is always a treat.

Judy, a bright spot in a dreary day. Gracias!

Diana

HIJAS

Judy, thank you for this excellent and well done recap, BUT I am quite annoyed.

"Soledád is disguising herself as a doctor, Inés as a nurse with cleavage and a lot of thigh."

The one time there is something worth seeing in this TN, and I missed it.

And I didn't even get to see a goat smoochie as a consolation.

Oh, well, at least I got to read your recap which was a fun read, as always.

andy

HIJAS

Andy - If you have cable, this episode might be on demand by tomorrow afternoon. The nurse outfit scene was cute.

HIJAS

Thanks Loyal Patio, of whom 2 out of 3 aren't watching! Grateful at least that you are commenting, otherwise I'd be a lonely gal for sure. And would have to start looking for a stray goat with a caring nature like Petunia.

DORIS...Indeed, it doesn't look good for the home team. And actually, our red-eyed slavering beast has been following them in his car from the bus station as well. So I'm okay with him knowing exactly where they are--although, come to think of it, trying to follow anyone in Mexico City's crazy traffic would be daunting indeed.

And thanks for your meditation on the cultural attitudes revealed in "esposar" meaning both handcuffing and getting married. Right up there with our "old ball and chain" terminology. Women seem to be blamed for "roping men into marriage" and yet health statistics show that married men live longer than single men and are overall happier in life. It's married women who turn out to be more unhappy than single women. And the longest living women are those who have never been married or had children.

Of course nothing is better than a happy marriage for both when it exists. And it does.

DIANA...Thanks as always for your loyal, supportive comments on a telenovela you can't possibly watch (and honestly wouldn't want to). Sebastian is between a rock and a hard place because Dario has backed his family into such a difficult financial corner that this seems to be his only way possible to protect them. Usually we imagine a young, comely woman being asked to "sacrifice" herself in marriage to save her family financially. This time it's a switch.

ANDY...Sorry you missed the skimpy nurse's uniform. It certainly would brighten any man's day and probably awaken some dormant little soldiers as well. Inés, now that she's gradually shedding her voluminous post-convent clothing and sensible shoes, is turning out to be quite the dish. More appealing than our annoying Juana Victoria, more attractive than our pugnacious Juana Barbara, and just as lovely as our Juana Soledad.

HIJAS

I'm still watching too! I haven't been commenting as much as I used to because for some reason I seem busier now than ever; and my day just flies by. I can't comment until the following day since I read the recap late at night before going to bed. But I would NEVER miss one of your recaps Judy and Doris (and it used to be ANDY!), since it helps me sleep with a smile :-) Andy, does that make you feel guilty enough to write a recap once in a while? LOL

Anywho, thank you JudyB, for such a snarktastic recap. My absolute favs--

"Well, actually I don't like her outfit. It looks like a cheap imitation of a Navajo blanket.” OMGoodness, I was trying to figure out what tha outfit reminded me of. Perfect, Judy!

"Just in case we've started to relax, the camera keeps panning to evil, slavering, red-eyed Alberto still spying on the gals." What a loathsome, slimy character! I get chills just looking at him, so I can imagine how the 3 gals must feel about him. YUCK! and EWWWW!

"And then, there's the LOOK. Not the lovey-dovey one. The "I've got you by the short hairs and I'm relishing every minute of it" LOOK. Cracked up with this! Dario sure has that LOOK mastered..and I keep getting distracted with the quivering of his lower cheek.

HIJAS--
Hey, I'm still in the Game of Woes. Like RGV, I tend to read way after the episode ends, sometimes just before the next episode airs, so nobody notices. It happened again Wednesday and I didn't have time to even thank Doris for her snappy rendition. Thank you Doris.

Thank you both, Doris and JudyB, for soldiering on with this nonsense. At least we're getting a little thrill out of Alberto stalking the 3 gals and how he isn't going to succeed. I wonder if Dario will make him give his money back.

I'm so bored with the machinations of this show that I've become fixated on hair pieces, hair extensions, wigs, etc. I'll produce a more comprehensive list later, but of course we all have singled out #J-Vickannoysallthetime as the worst example of a wig.

I have also determined, only by using my strongest set of eyeglasses on my tiny TV monitor, in several close-ups earlier this week, that Seb, yes, Seb, our darling with the gorgeous mop of brown hair, carefully coiffed, has had a hair piece added. His pompadeur is always in place. Seen from the back, I spied a distinct line, all the way around, halfway down his head that is a slightly different color. Ok, I may concede that you can have darker hair near the nape of your neck, but this was just too even.

I always get a chuckle out of Leo's finely braided wig, at the ready to pop on whenever she gets dressed to go out. Who is around to braid it if it weren't a wig. And that jail outfit--maybe it was to brighten up JuanO's day? When I saw it being panned from feet to shoulders, all I could think of was some Aztec shaman getting ready to cast a spell. Navajo is close enough. I think I've seen some blankets like that in Albuquerque.

Hola RGV CHICK and ANITA...

Wow, what sharp eyes you gals have-- the quivering of Dario's lower cheek and Seb's hairpiece. Will have to take my eyes off Sebastien's muscular calves for a moment, and check out the back of his head. Although our TV monitor does not have a very clear picture.

I have noticed Dario's cheek quiver, come to think of it, and I do like his clear amber eyes. Just wish he'd go back to playing a lovable priest. Although he was a wonderful, slick villain on Juan Querendon. Easy to imagine someone falling into his clutches.

And yes, Leonora's amazing braided chignon....a marvel indeed. Leo has definitely given us the most fun...along with the affectionate, understanding Petunia.

And OT a bit, I've finally started watching Ugly Betty on Hulu and her hair looks a lot like Juana Victoria's unfortunate do. It's definitely a sign of weak writing when we're willing to devote paragraphs to hairstyles. Sigh.

Santa Claus, send us a better daytime novela next time. Please! But thanks for this dear Patio.

P.S. That's exactly where I saw blankets like that ANITA... in Albuquerque. Worked there one summer for a company which then made its center (for a year or two) in Vienna, Austria. Took the job as a way to get back to Europe.

Hey I'm still here. Just been busy busy busy with work. And to top it off
I just my car in the shop. Again. But
I'm still interested in the jaunas.

LOOks like the little angel has made a turn to the dark side. Knew all that sugar sugar sweet sweet was to good to be true. Remember who her father is!
Those genes hitched a ride on her DNA.

When they have the awards show this year they should remember petunia. She's as Good an actor as any.

Al looks like he hasn't bathed in a month of sundays. He look funky yall.

Ok I'm watchin today episode while I'm
Writing about yesterday's episode.
That outfit does look like a Navajo blanket. But I don't like the black skirt. It would've looked better if it had been a solid colored skirt or pair of pants. Well wardrobe must be still
Getting over new years celebration.

Ok that's all for this episode.
Thank you JudyB and Doris and Anita.
Keep us laughin in the dead of winter.
Or spring, which is what we're having in Florida for the next few days.

Ps, when are they going change ines'
Hair style? That looks like the style

HIJAS

HIJAS #59 CON DINERO BAILA EL PERRO

Part 1

Now if you've been watching telenovelas for a while, you know this one. Lit. "With money, the dog dances." But our equivalent would be "Money talks" and in this case, Dario, who has all the money in Mazatlán, is saying "Marry my daughter and do what I say... or else." And Sebastian, finally beaten down, agrees.

Also as you may recall, when we left Dario and Steffi yesterday, he was asking her if she truly truly wanted to marry Sebastian, given that her novio had been low enough to mess around with his half-sister. 'Cause frankly, old Dad is kind of grossed out. Nopis. Steff still considers Seb a grand catch--he's intelligent, classy, gentlemanly and handsome! Dad's still worried he'll hurt his princess again, but Estefania is adamant--her happiness is with Sebastian, she wants to form a family with him and grow old together. You know, the same sweet dream so many of us have. Well, in that case, Daddy Dario will support her 100 %. Signed, sealed and delivered.

Elsewhere, money is also an issue. Vic, Barb and Marg are trying to decide if they have enough pesos to buy themselves lunch and recharge Marg's phone so she can call Xavier. In other brief scenes, Xavier kvetches about Sebastian selling himself for money, but Seb points out that the money will rebuild Media Luna, save Xavier's house from foreclosure, spring his dad from jail and allow him to be forgiven by his wife Leonora. So all good. Sure, he's made a deal with the devil--but look at the good it will bring.

Meanwhile, Soledad and Inés have entered the hospital, pretending to be a crack medical team from the Ministerio Publico. Their cover is almost blown when the hospital is suddenly inundated with a lot of wounded people from an accident. The nurse in charge orders them to go help out. Inés nearly swoons at the thought of being around blood, so Juana Soledad whisks her off to Ernesto's room. In spite of the DT's and a sedative, as soon as he spots Inés perky cleavage, he makes a lunge for the goodies. When Soledad asks him if that sudden move didn't make his head hurt, he cheerfully admits he doesn't have a pain in the world! Okay, Scam Discovered. And all because of a little cleavage. Good ol' Inés has just made up for a lot of the nuisance that she's caused.

And someone else is at the Ministerio Publico...but this time in Mexico City. Juana Vic, Juana Barb and Marg are all trying to convince the police to arrest the bestial Alberto but it's no go. He'll have to commit a crime before they can take him in. His previous "delitos" [crimes] have been paid for, and he's out of prison. Sorry ladies.

HIJAS #59 CON DINERO BAILA EL PERRO

Part 2

Well, that gets Barb's dander up, and she's determined now to confront Alberto and fix him for good. No more running away. No more fear! Basta ya! Sure enough, when the slimeball follows them home from the café and grabs Barb, she busts him some good ones, knees him in the groin and slams him against the wall. He simply laughs (evilly of course) as they run off. Evidently our lowlife is tougher than he looks. Once inside, Marg is able to phone Xavier and reassure him that she's alright. But once Juana Victoria comes on the line, he drops the bomb that Steff and Sebastian are getting married the next day. She promptly drops the phone, breaks it, and then goes out on the rooftop to boo-hoo her pains away.

Back to the deadly duo of Dario and demented Estefania. She's delighted with a rush-rush wedding. Heck! she's already got the dress, Dad with his big bucks can move mountains, get a fabulous restaurant booked for the fiesta, and contact all the invitados. Easy peasy. Sebastian, looking funereal, finally slinks off. Steff continues to be gloriously happy all by herself. But she has a few more questions for daddy dearest.

"Dad, since we're 'complices' [in this together] how is it that Sebastian decided to marry me. I mean, he was in love with somebody else."

Dad admits it was because he was offering enough money to rebuild Media Luna, pay off each and every debt and spring Señor Oropeza from jail.

Steffi looks thoughtful. Will she change her mind?

Nopis. She just needs a little time to assimilate the tough truth. 'Cause she was kind of hoping it was because, well, you know..."

But enough of that! She pulls herself together and burbles on about organizing the party and having a grand old time! And gosh, Daddy, you love me soooo muich to do this for me!

Dario looks worried as Steff dances off. Leonora, on the other hand is over the moon happy. All this with cucumbers and goo on her face, but no matter. It's great news! A bit blue that it's only a civil ceremony and Juan won't be there, but hey, we'll get the grand cathedral for the church wedding later. And it will be another reason to buy more dresses! Always looking on the bright side is our Leo. Whadda gal.

Well, we've had cleavage from Inés. And now a strip show at la Dolorosa from the boys. Gotta admit, the Chippendales they are not. Can I admit I was hoping for more? Some better dancing? Seriously. Raymundo did seem to have some kind of wardrobe malfunction but basically it was rather blah. Let's just say I've seen better in the movies. And even in Gancho al Corazón. But whatever. It ate up screen time. At this point, I'm all for that.

HIJAS #59 CON DINERO BAILA EL PERRO

Part 3

This last section is brought to you by the an ad for hemorrhoid relief. Not sure if I prefer being in this niche market or the pre-paid funeral one? No good choices, dang it! But very thankful for spell check.

Romance is flourishing for the middle-aged, at least. Todoelmundo has prepared a lovely dinner with candle, flowers and real dishes, while Teresa tends to sick little Mundito. Why, it's just like she's his mother! Pop exclaims. And a sweet kiss or two ensues. And then big smiles. Ah well. Not particularly excited about this couple but whatever. Maybe they can double-date with the equally-past-their-prime Xavier and Margarita.

I know. That was mean. If these folks are past their prime, I'm already way over the last hill and headed for the next barrio. But just sayin' can't get excited over these AARP love stories. When you're running short of hormones, you need BIG INSPIRATION. Fernando Colunga where are you?

Brief scare back in Mexico City. As night falls, the gals sense a shadow outside their room. And all jump on the lurker, beating him to the ground. Alas, it was simply a clueless former renter showing up again. Still, they decide that Offense is the best Defense and they're going to lay a trap for scurvy, sleazy Alberto.

The pre-nup is signed and notarized, the civil ceremony begins, Sebastian reluctantly writes his name on the marriage contract, and rather gingerly kisses the exuberant, glowing Estefania. Don't ask me how, but somehow Juana Victoria is able to live-stream the ceremony at an internet café, watch it all aghast, and then slump back home to boo-hoo some more. Leonora's happiness is somewhat muted because her dear Señor Oropeza was not in attendance and also because Dario clearly makes her uncomfortable after his volcanic declaration of love the other day.

Well, general merriment nevertheless in Mazatlán. General case of the blues in Mexico City. The gals lament that they left all that they love back in Mazatlán. But Juana Barbara, for what reason I cannot imagine, declares "BUT WE'RE SAFE HERE!"

Given that the nefarious Alberto is stalking them, hard to see why she thinks that. But on this ironic note, we end.

Vocabulario: Lots of slang in this one. The only fun word I caught today was when Inés said blood and gore gave her "vahidos" [sinking spells, brief loss of consciousness etc.] This show gives me "vahidos". Makes me want to zone out repeatedly and permanently.

”Those genes hitched a ride on her DNA.”
Oh NINA, that is wonderful! It’s good to see you checking in with us here on the Patio.

ANITA --- You are a hoot! ”Game of Woes” indeed!
”I'm so bored with the machinations of this show that I've become fixated on hair pieces, hair extensions, wigs, etc.” At least you found a way to entertain yourself. I’m so bored with this show that I’m having trouble staying awake when I watch. Pinky swear. It is sad to think that right now, I would welcome a Salvador Mejía production over this nonsense, and I swore off his telenovelas years ago.

HIJAS
Thank you for your recrap today, Judy!

”Steff still considers Seb a grand catch--he's intelligent, classy, gentlemanly and handsome!” …#girlhazpriorities

”. But once Juana Victoria comes on the line, he drops the bomb that Steff and Sebastian are getting married the next day. She promptly drops the phone, breaks it, and then goes out on the rooftop to boo-hoo her pains away.”
Well, it was nice to see Vic rendered speechless for a change, and that’s my “good cop” persona. My inner “bad cop” would have taken pleasure if she jumped off the roof while she was up there. #J-vicisstillannoying

ANDY – I hope you were able to watch today’s episode, with Ines in the only nurse’s outfit in the hospital that displays cleavage.

The strip show music was trying to be Village People “YMCA” without being Village People “YMCA” and have to pay royalties. Seriously, Patio, how does a bar that is barely making overhead have four tear-away fireman outfits laying about? Ooooooh noes, it’s telenovela beanie hat time. I was hoping for a Full Monty number, but whatever. It’s a daytime show, so there is that. Right. And it’s all about the Spanish. Right?

Awww, Judy, I thought the TEM & Teresa scene was sweet. :-)

How was Alberto able to laugh as the trio ran away, after J-Barbara kneed or kicked him in the avocados?

TodoElMundo was holding a lemon yellow phone or mini ipad during the wedding, so his blog probably was streaming it so JuanaVic could relish her misery.

”This show gives me "vahidos". Makes me want to zone out repeatedly and permanently.”
This recap should come with a warning that recapper snark may induce loud guffaws. Just sayin’.

HIJAS

I am laughing in delight Judy. Your recap was priceless and could lift the grayest skies!

"vahidos" [sinking spells, brief loss of consciousness etc.] This show gives me "vahidos". Makes me want to zone out repeatedly and permanently" was the ultimate but "sure if I prefer being in this niche market or the pre-paid funeral one? No good choices, dang it!" was right behind it. Inspired. truly.

"delitos" [crimes]", "'complices' [in this together]" were greatly appreciated but "funereal" even more so as it's another seldom used word.

"but Estefania is adamant--her happiness is with Sebastian, she wants to form a family with him and grow old together. You know, the same sweet dream so many of us have" - great but "Steff continues to be gloriously happy all by herself" conjured up a crystal clear image.

Well, not watching this I surmise the loophole in the wedding will be the civil ceremony as it doesn't seem like Seb and Steffi's union will be a permanent one.

Fabulous recap Judy. Gracias amiga.

Diana

HIJAS

Judy, thank you for suffering through this for us.

As for myself, I managed to survive without watching even though it meant passing up a view of Ines' cleavage.
Doris, thanks for pointing out that the other nurses' uniforms are not so skimpy. It did not occur to me, but you're right. the only revealing nurse uniforms I've seen have been Halloween costumes, pin-up calendars, comedies, etc.

Not to say that nurses can't be sexy, I've seen more than a few who could wear an old potato sack and revive moribund male patients just by walking by. And, totally off topic, nurses are generally very cool. The things they see and do on a daily basis would curl, or straighten, the hair of most of us.

Anyway, I am now up-to-date with this show that I no longer watch on a regular basis. Judy, much better you than me. I actually lose patience with this turkey. I saw Babyface signing some legal document with witnesses in attendance, I think it was the pre-nup but I'm not sure (TV was muted) and I got the idea.

Wake me up in a few years if he and Stefi are still together and have a couple of kids, otherwise I will play at being Rip Van Winkle as far as this TN is concerned.

andy

Hola Doris, Diana and Andy. It's a rainy, dreary day here in fly-over country, although my morning was brightened considerably by a visit from the little tornado and his papa.

DORIS...Thanks for explaining how Juana Victoria was able to see the live-stream of the wedding. I clearly missed Todoelmundo's filming while madly taking notes. That's why the commenting public is so helpful. Gracias amiga mia. And glad you enjoyed Teresa and Todoelmundo. Hooray for love! Better late than never.

DIANA...You are right on the money, amiga. No way is the Sebastian-Estefania union going to last. Anything engineered by Daddy Dario is doomed to failure. But I'm sure there will be lots and lots of drama before the happy ending with Seb and the annoying Vicky.

ANDY...Sorry you are giving up on HIJAS, but I understand. The more telenovelas one watches, the shorter one's fuse for stupidity. And this one's a stinker. Still, it's preferable to hauling out my Teach Youself Spanish book again. My patience with that one is even shorter than my patience with telenovelas. What to do, what to do?

Have a great day everybody. Thanks for reading and commenting. Means a lot.

HIJAS--
The worse what we must watch gets, the better the recaps get. JudyB, you always rise to the occasion called for. In this case, a great reacap.

I really hope, for Seb's sake, there is a loophole in the pre-nup he can crawl through.

Monday should be fun. Surely they will show us the honeymoon "first night" scene. Steffi already knows it's a forced wedding, but Seb doesn't know she knows. Will he try to fend her off, or give in.

So sorry Petunia didn't get to go to the wedding. Did you all see JInez clapping at the appropriate moments during the wedding, but looking a bit confused.

The sooner Cifuentes gets unmasked, the better. And, Dario's hand in the fraud should also be unmasked.

HIJAS

Greetings ANITA...I certainly hope "there is a loophole he can crawl through" as well. Once upon a time, Steffi was lovely. And I would have been happy for those two to have a Happily Ever After, but I guess with a father-in-law like Dario, that would be impossible. Frankly though, ending up with Juana Victoria hardly seems like the Grand Prize either.

Ah, and Juana Inés...she does "confused" well. Also "scared". It will be nice to see her expand her emotional horizons in time.

Thanks for checking in amiga. Are there any days next week you would be willing to sub. I'd love an Anita recap if you have the time. Doris is doing Friday.

Greetings, HIJAS Patio!

ITA with Anita, JudyB, you always rise to the occasion...and then some! What a wonderful read your recap was; so much better than the real thing.

If they manage to prove all the underhanded, illegal stuff Dari-odious has done, would that nullify any agreements? I was really hoping J-Sol and J-Inez would overhear Cifuentes talking to Dari-odious, but I guess they have to stre-e-etch the story to prolong the misery.

Andy, so sorry that you won't be watching this, but I understand since so many of us bailed on Mañana for quite some time. I do hope, however, that you check in. Ya never know, this thing may take an upturn just like Mañana did.

Windy and cool in the RGV. Yesterday I had to wear weights not to blow away; today is better since a weak cold front came in and put a halt to the 50mph southerly winds.

HIJAS

Glad you checked in RGV CHICK. Were your animalitos spooked by all that wind? It's on its way out here now and certain counties in Ohio are under a wind advisory tonight.

Certainly it's an ill wind that's blowing Dario these days but with twenty more episodes to go, I think it will be a while before he gets his comeuppance. But we've made it this far, we can hang in there 'till the end, right?

Have a lovely weekend everybody.

OT

Judy, my animalitos did just fine since the stronger winds were during the day; so they were out and about. Had it been at night, they would have been in their shed, and they might have gotten spooked with the noise since the roof is made of aluminum sheeting and any little vibration makes mucho noise.

Thanks for asking :-)

OT Alexander, thank you so much for keeping us abreast of the upcoming daytime TNs!

Also, I've added the "Coming...in 2020" link to the sidebar for easy access.

JudyB--I can do Wednesday, one day after souble surgical strikes on my teeth. The last time they had to do this, I was seriously uncomfortable for a day or two. This might be a good distraction. Count on it.

Fingers or Autocorrect a Fie on both your applications. Souble is really double.

ANITA...Bless you. And I admit I was really wondering what souble surgical strikes were. But it sounded scary. Either version. Wednesday will be marked on my calendar with a big smile, as will Friday when Doris recaps. You two are the best!

HIJAS

ANITA - You are an angel to do a recap/recrap after dental surgery! It does beg the question about which is worse, watching HIJAS or a root canal?

(I know that’s not what you will have, but I could not resist. ) :-)
