Family - The Ties That Bind Part 1

“Family is supposed to be our safest haven. Very often, it’s the place where we find the deepest heartache”. Iyanla Vanzant

The Garay family is in crisis. Relationships precarious to begin with, Ivan, Julia and Brenda are now for all intents and purposes a shattered family. What has propelled this downward trajectory? A failure to recognize that Brenda’s mental illness is a threat not only to herself, but to others in her orbit. Unwillingness and/or inability to acknowledge a problem and the gravity of the situation. To take but small steps to rectify a problem of epic proportions. To disastrously think that mental illness would be able to magically heal itself or simply improve with time. Brenda’s actions have ignited grave destruction (literally). Her vitriol was not confined to destructive actions but by words of hatred and envy, words aimed to crush Julia’s heart and spirit. Now, two sisters relationship has been decimated. Can this fractured family be healed?

Guachin takes some food from the cafeteria and is scurrying down the hall with a sack when Rosa pops out. What are you doing she asks as she eyes him suspiciously. He lies and says he is cleaning. Rosa is on the phone with Teresa who explains that Guachin usually takes the leftover food to people in need. He doesn’t think Teresa knows what he is doing but she does. Seeing Rosa, Guachin asks what she is doing there and introduces her to the family he just gifted with the food.

A not terribly loving family confab with Ivan, Diego, Brenda and Julia ensues. Ringo is there too. Ivan asks what is happening so Brenda tells him it was the man who attacked them; she thinks he is after her. Ivan thinks it may be a kidnapping attempt. Diego gets a call about Turco walking off the set due to his mother issues so Ivan tells him to make Turco go back. Diego calls Turco but he refuses. Then, a brilliant idea for a substitute is offered. Ringo would be perfect Julia effuses! Ringo’s eyes open wide as he stares. Diego rejects the idea since Ringo is relatively unknown, but Julia argues that the people like Ringo and showed him their support when he lost. Ivan likes the idea so Julia offers to call Rita a friend of hers who works at the station. Julia vouches for Ringo and Rita gives the approval .Julia tries to give Diego the phone so he can finish up the details, but he refuses before grudgingly taking the phone. Looks like Ringo is in!

Turco and Carrizo talk. Turco wants to go ahead with his idea to have a song composed for his mother.

Family - The Ties That Bind Part 2

At the shoot, Julia and Teresa are offering Ringo support and he explains what the commercial is about...a mother who coddles her son. Ringo introduces her to the director who is smiling ear to ear. He falls under Teresa’s charm and asks her to be in the commercial. Julia approves. Teresa demurs but after hearing what she will be paid, quickly agrees. Brenda spies from the sidewalk.

Oso and Rafa discuss ways to pick up business. Rafa suggests that he bring in more girls to train. Oso rejects it so Rafa suggests that he open the club at night for other activities such as exercise classes – Zumba and yoga.

Rafa is trying to keep Oso from turning around as Jose Manuel Figueroa is in the cafeteria, meeting with Turco. Rafa invites Oso to the theater when Rosa interrupts because she wants to talk to Oso about Guachin. After Oso invites her to go along with them, she sees the singer and excitedly runs out. Oso inevitably turns around and raging like a bull, runs into the cafeteria. But, not all are angry. Rosa fawns and asks for his autograph.

Oso tells Jose to get out. Oso them reproaches Jose about the fact he stole songs from him. Rafa suggests that Oso bring his songs so that they can compare them to Jose’s songs.

The director congratulates Teresa for a job well done. Julia then congratulated Ringo so he invites her to lunch; he knows of a small restaurant but it would take them the whole day to go there. Julia isn’t fooled; she knows what Ringo is trying to do. When Ringo pleads, she finally accepts. Ringo gets a call from Santi who just saw the commercial.

Oso is frantically looking for the notes on his songs. When Rosa tells him that he should not be so resentful, Oso points out that he could have done better in life. After Rosa reminds him that he is a great trainer, he thanks her.

Turco is attempting (badly) to sing some lyrics as Oso brings in his songs. They start comparing some of the lyrics and when Jose sings his song, Rosa reads the song Oso wrote. Turco cackles and says the songs are not the same, but Oso argues that they are similar. Rafa then interjects that the song isn’t the same so Oso insists on comparing other songs. Pepe makes a face in the background.

Family - The Ties That Bind Part 3

Julia texts Rosa that she needs help with something when Diego walks in. He is upset and she is the reason why he is in such a bad mood. She is different and wants to know what he needs to do to get the old Julia back. After he points out that they are always arguing, Julia tells him she will be out all day the next day. Diego then tells her that he wants them to move out because he is fed up! Julia retorts that she is also fed up since he has become so difficult. He glares and glowers at their wedding picture.

Julia calls Ringo and tells him she isn’t going with him after all...she just had a big argument with Diego. Ringo won’t have it, pretending the calls is dropped and tells her he’ll meet her at the park the next day.

Alejo and Manual have a serious conversation. Manuel tells him Brenda started the fire at Julia’s. Alejo looks shocked and doesn’t believe him. Take care Alejo Manuel admonishes.

Now, my favorite couple, Oso and Guachin, meet.In Rosa’s fight, she is supposed to lose on the third round but Oso wants Rosa to shine during the first two rounds. Guachin tells him he’ll take care of it! Oso explains to Rosa that she will have two rounds to show everyone what she can do. Rosa trains with Guachin.

Julia tells Rosa about her lunch with Ringo. Rosa is all for it and when Diego comes in, Rosa tells him that they will be going to her town to take the vaccines. Diego would prefer that Julia do it some other day because he wanted to go check out some apartments. But Julia insists that she needs to go with Rosa.

Rafa calls Zorra who hasn’t answered his calls. He leaves a message to call him back.

Alejo sips a drink at home as he reflects on Manuel’s warning. Brenda calls and he ignores it.

Later, Alejo comes out of his bedroom to see Brenda sitting on his couch. What is it he asks? She looks as though she is in a trance. He asks her if she started the fire at Julia’s. She starts muttering about her dog and walks out of the room. Alejo looks concerned.

Julia nervously awaits Ringo when Diego calls and asks where she is. She lies and tells him she is waiting for Rosa. What pueblo are you going to Diego asks? San Pedro. When Ringo drives up, she hangs up and Diego watches as she and Ringo talk. Julia really seems torn. After Julia tells Ringo that she doesn’t want to go because it doesn’t feel right, she adds that she doesn’t want to betray Diego. Ringo suggests that they then go tell Diego how they feel about each other, but Julia won’t do that. She asks that he leave, but he insists that she go with him...despite all the guilt she is feeling, she knows that they belong together. If after this, she asks him to leave, he will disappear from her life forever.

Unshed tears of fury gather in Diego’s eyes.

RINGO

First, thank you to Rgv Chick who supplied crucial dialog, the majority of which I simply did not understand. Your kindness is humbling...

I'm disappointed Julia has chosen not to fight for her and Ringo's love. At least Ringo had the courage to want to confront Diego. Julia knows she is wrong and yet...

Diana

Amor:

I am not watching this show, but see a tad when waiting for Ringo. I could not help but notice, these Turks sure do not look like Spaniards. The girls all have these little oval faces, BUT the fellows are block heads. Big square face with broad foreheads, hairline straight across and jaw the width of the forehead. Glad I'm a mutt. :-)

Title, opening quote and the prologue are just simply great. I don't know where you find these wonderful quotes, Diana, but they are awesome and just "fit". And indeed, the final question is:
Can this fractured family be healed?

I just hope that Julia legally separates from Diego soon. An extended extra-marital flirtation is just uncomfortable for me to watch. I want my heroines to have more class than that.

Certainly glad that Alejo may be getting a clue about Brenda's problem.

And sweet Gauchin has a loving, charitable heart. Now we just need to find a girlfriend for him other than Rosa.

Thanks Diana. You add so much to these stories by your thoughtful examination of the needs and yearnings of these humans, as well as the blindness and carelessness they sometimes show in reaching for their goals.

RINGO
Thanks so much for your kind words Judy.

Iyanla's quote is equal parts chilling and sobering. Despite the fact there is so much love in some families, for others, mere survival, physically and emotionally, particularly for children, is an accomplishment in and of itself.

And as loathsome as Diego is, yes, Julia is doing the wrong thing.

I enjoy so many of these characters - their hearts, their emotions. Yes, Gauchin deserves someone special!

"blindness and carelessness" as describing what some show here is perfect.

Diana

Thanks, Diana, for the fine recap of this episode and an outstanding quote. The quote was oh so appropriate and unfortunately true. I hadn’t thought about Iyanla Vazant since her Oprah connection.

JudyB, I am sitting at your table on this one. I am no prude but am a firm believer in GET A DIVORCE if you know you want to be with someone else. Ringo got on my last nerve insisting that Julia go with him as well as Julia for giving in and going with him. She needs to get a grip already. The act has gotten old.

Great comic relief with Turco and his singing and Oso and the song lyrics.

It looks like Alejo is finally waking up from his “Brenda blindness.” Did she never find JJ?

Good morning Jarifa!

Thanks so much.

I also loved Turco's singing. I really like Alfredo and he seemed to be having fun in that scene. I wish I had a guest behind the scenes pass just to see if the actora are all enjoying this (and each other) as much as we are.

And Ringo, with his relentless pursuit is just making things worse.

Good point. I don't know if JJ is still lost? Well, his owner certainly is...

Diana

Ringo
Yes Jarifa, JJ was found that one time when he was lost and Brenda and Ringo were 'jumped' by the trio. Not long after that, Brenda brought JJ with her to Alejo's when I suspected Zorra was still there. I remember her putting him down and he took off exploring and I thought he would go and find Ms.Z setting in motion something which would make the Iranians look like sissies.

RINGO

Diana, yes, the comedic scenes really seem genuine and as goofy as people are in real life. Poor Oso!

Thanks, Kirby, it just shows how close I am watching Brenda or not. : )

I'll watch her for you.

Diana, thank you for both the recap and the quote. I have collected quotes for years and have several journals filled with them.

It is colder here today and gray and gloomy again after warmer temps this past weekend and clear skies. The wolf moon was hazy last night as I looked at it through the trees from the window over my kitchen sink.

RINGO

Susanlynn, good idea to keep track of quotes when you find them. It is cold and grey up here but no real snow so I am not complaining. We are mid January already and every day like today is one less day of snow that I have to shovel. Time for me to bundle up and get outside.

Have a good one, everybody!

RINGO

Diana, everything about your recap is pure perfection, from the quote to the last sentence. Thank you!

ITA agree about Julia needing to ask for a divorce; and I am so disappointed in Ringo for being so persistent in his pursuit of a woman who is off limits. He really doesn't have to do much since Julia is quickly realizing what a colossal mistake she made; so why can;t he just wait it out AS A FRIEND.

JudyB, "Certainly glad that Alejo may be getting a clue about Brenda's problem." Finally!!

Jarifa, "the comedic scenes really seem genuine and as goofy as people are in real life" I'm really liking the humor here too. Not too much, not too little...it's just right!

Thank you, Diana! Looking forward to your prologue and recap for tonight.

RINGO

Thanks for the info on JJ Kirby. I wasn't sure if he had escaped again or not. The thought of Brenda having responsibility for any life is truly alarming.

Susanlynn, it was 70 here on Sunday and fluctuating since then. Teens in another day or so. Ack.

Ahhh the moon. It's been luminous lately but yes, hazy yesterday.

Diana

RINGO

Thank you Rgv Chick!

Well, with your comment about Ringo "He really doesn't have to do much since Julia is quickly realizing what a colossal mistake she made; so why can't he just wait it out AS A FRIEND" there is little left to say. And there you have it.

Diana

AMOR ETERNO

Kirby, I get your point about "these people." When I first started watching the show, I had a hard time remembering who was who since they have so many similarities. It didn't help that most of them have the same hairstyle...generally speaking.

This is really a pretty good show once you get into it.

Leyla just happened to drive by in a taxi and spotted Nihan sitting on a bench by the bay. In talking, Leyla seemed to figure out that Emir blackmailed Nihan into returning home.

The dinner to celebrate Kemal's release from prison was quite tense, to say the least. Zeynep showed up with Denise since she had no one else to care for the baby. Kemal didn't even want to look at her and told her that he no longer considered her his sister.

Later Kemal saw his baby girl without knowing who she really is, but it was obvio that he felt a connection.

Nihan finally asked Hakan for help since he was able to put Emir in jail before; and she can't ask anyone else for help because she will be putting them in danger.

Fehime is washing her hands in the kitchen. Asu is helping her cook a salsa, and asks if it needs to cool down before being grinded. Fehime tells her that they can’t feed anyone with the amount she has in the pan. Asu says that she’s cooking something specifically for Kemal. Suddenly she gets a call from Tufan and she goes out to the garden to answer.
“Why did you call me?” She demands.
“Emir is planning something, and I honk it has to do with Nihan’s return.”
Asu scoffs and asks if she needs to congratulate him for his suspicions.
“You’re starting to resemble him, Asu. Everyday it seems like you’re getting lost-“
She cuts him off: “Keep investigating, Tufan.”
“He’s been in his studio all day. He doesn’t want to tell me anything.”
“Because he doesn’t trust you.”
“This is a time bomb waiting to happen”
“Are you the time bomb, or is it Emir? He knows you’re not a spy, but even if you work for him, he doesn’t trust you.”
“I’m a blind mouse, living in darkness. Someone who keeps hurting himself with the same wall of his past without finding the exit” he hangs up on her. His comment left her very annoyed.

Nihan is sitting on a bench by the seaside. Leyla is being driven in a taxi and notices her. She gets off and walks to her niece. Leyla’s white dress contrasts with Nihan’s black funeral dress. She sits next to Nihan and asks what she’s doing there. Nihan doesn’t say anything at first and leans her head on Leyla’s shoulder. She finally says that she doesn’t know why she’s there or what she will do. Leyla comments that she believes that Nihan is running away from her because she’s been rejecting all of her calls all morning. Nihan denies it, but Leyla remains adamant that is she’s not running away from her, she’s running away from someone else.
“You disappeared for a year without telling anyone why. Then come back precisely on the day Kemal is released, as if nothing had happened.”
“Are you going to keep judging me?” Nihan asks.
“No one is judging you, but you pushed everything aside, including Kemal. Does Emir know that you’ve come back?”
“He knows.”
“Why did you come back? Where’s Denise?”
“With her father.”
“You gave up again? You returned with you daughter out of your own will?Congratulations. You left, hid for a year and began a new life...” She pauses and then asks “did he force you to come back? Did he threaten Denise’s life or threaten to harm you both?”
“My biggest threat was giving birth to Denise. She’ll be staying for a bit with her father...Can we go see my mother?”
Leyla protests but Nihan asks her to please do as she says.

A prison guard knocks on a door, asking for Selma. He enters the apartment and finds it vacant. Suddenly Kemal appears behind him and places his hand on the man’s shoulder. The man asks what Kemal is doing there, who responds that he’s there to congratulate him. Kemal sits on the couch and says that the wife has told everyone that her husband renounced his job and relocated to Anatolia. The man tries to get rough but Kemal doesn’t budge and tells him he’s the only one who knows where the family is. Kemal reminds him that he stopped his parents from seeing him for a year, so now he will do the same to the guard. The man threatens to call the police but Kemal is unfazed. He hands him a medical report relating to his son, whom Kemal claims can no longer hear because the father beat him, while the wife’s retina got detached from a beating too. Kemal reveals that Selma cooperated, willingly left the home and that the police have the report in their file. The guard tells Kemal that he only did what the Kozcouglus asked of him. Kemal says that he knows, but he’ll make the guard pay for his mistakes anyway.

Vildan greets Nihan with a hug. She asks if Nihan is ok, because she’s looking pale. Nihan claims it was the air travel. Vildan then asks for Denise. Nihan claims that Emir missed Denise, and so she’s spending a few days with him. Nihan tries hard to hold back her tears, and Both Vildan and Leyla get concerned. Nihan swears she’s ok. Just then, Fehime calls Leyla to ask if she will go to the dinner. Leyla says that she can’t, but Fehime tried to shame her to go anyway. Nihan convinces Leyla to go, and so she concedes to Fehime. Leyla hangs up and is still reluctant to go, but Nihan tells her it’s ok. Leyla says she won’t be gone long and steps out. Vildan asks Nihan for photos of Denise, but Nihan gets a voicemail and she listens to it first. She looks scared, but brushes her fear aside and shows Vildan photos of the baby anyway.

Tariq is begging Banu to go to Kemal’s welcome back dinner, but she asks if Fehime will apologize. Tariq isn’t so sure that will happen and asks that Banu respect Fehime for the simple fact that she’s an elder, but Banu refuses because Fehime never grew tolerant of her and also kicked her out of the house at some point. Tariq asks that Banu forget about that and that they both try to get closer to his parents, but Banu says “it will never happen! Don’t you understand? Never.” She leaves him alone.

Fehime is standing by the hallway and says she doesn’t understand why none of her kids have arrived for dinner yet. Just then, Zeynep opens the door and arrives with Denise. Zeynep looks scared and worried, which Fehime points out. Zeynep claims that she’s taking a big risk by being here with the baby right now. Asu crosses her arms and looks at her coldly. Fehime starts remarking that the baby is adorable, Zeynep rolls her eyes and heads to the bedroom. Asu watches her and has the face that seems to indicate she knows the baby is Nihan’s.

It’s nighttime and Vildan has just fallen asleep when Nihan chooses to call Hakan to request his help. He’s driving somewhere when he answered the call, and sounded reluctant to go meet her.

Kemal parked his car outside the family home. He slowly heads to the house and Asu opens the door to ask him where he’s been. Kemal half jokes that she should stop questioning where he is because he won’t respond to authority anymore. Hussein and Fehime greet him, Kemal walks to Leyla and asks if she missed him too. She says of course and they hug. Fehime starts calling for Zeynep to come, but there’s no response. Hussein suggests she may have fallen asleep with the baby. Kemal asks what baby, and Hussein says that Zeynep has been working as a babysitter and brought the baby over. Zeynep then appears, reluctant to say anything at first, but eventually calls her brother’s name. “I’ve missed you so much,” she says. She went for a hug but he immediately rejects it by putting his hand up. “I’m going to go wash my hands, Asu” he says, and goes to the bathroom. Zeynep looks hurt and Asu says “What did you expect?” Zeynep goes back to the room to cry. She gets a call from Emir at that moment, but she chose not to answer it. Denise lays in the center of the bed.

Kemal tells his parents that he’s walking out to retrieve something from his car. He gets into the driver’s seat and starts to think of his plans for self-justice. He thinks about the first guard that he punished by locking him up in the shed. Then he counts to five, but gets interrupted by Tariq’s knocking on the window. Kemal reluctantly steps out of the car. Tariq tells him that he’s happy he’s out of prison, and he confesses that he no longer works for Emir. Kemal coldly says that he’s happy for him, and walks back to the house claiming that he’s starving. Tariq follows in silence. Just then, Kemal asks if the food is ready. Hussein sits on the couch and asks if the brothers have reconciled and hugged. Kemal and Tariq barely assure their father. Hussein then asks where Banu is. Tariq claims that she’s sick, and Fehime passive aggressively says that she figured that would happen. She’ll send her a soup that Tariq is grateful for. Hussein then looks at Leyla and asks if they should go to the table. She agrees, but then asks Kemal “What will we do with you? How do we break this wall and find Kemal again?”
Kemal says she needs to get used to the new Kemal now.

Emir is walking out of a house and leaves Zeynep a voicemail, ordering her to come out of the hole she’s hiding in. Tufan walks up to him and asks if there’s anything he can do. Emir retorts that if there was, he would be doing it already.

Zera Toscano is walking in the street alone, with Zehir closely following. She disappears as she made a corner and Zehir walks into a group of men, but she confronts him just when he thought that he lost her. Zehir remembers Zera calling him Zikret the day he was at the docks with Kema when they were investigating he fishermen about Ozan’s failed escape plan. Zera says she couldn’t believe that he came back from Germany already. Zehir couldn’t really answer her, and she’s confused, asking if he didn’t just get out of prison from Germany. He doesn’t reply to that, and she asks if he’s been out this whole time. He still doesn’t say anything besides her name, and she starts to get offended when she realizes that he had been avoiding her this whole time.
“I don’t want you to work with Emir Kozcouglu” he blurts our, breaking out of the memory.
“How do you know about that?”
“It doesn’t matter. I want you to quit tomorrow.”
“Get away from me,” she says, and gets into a taxi.
Zehir stands there, hands on his hips. He watches her go.

Nihan and Hakan meet. She says “I know that you can stand up to Emir. You did it along time ago, Hakan. Now I need you to help me.”
“How?”
“I need someone who can’t be bought. Someone honest to help me.”
“Help you?” He asks, confused.
“Emir kidnapped my daughter.”
“That’s serious. But from what I know, she’s his daughter too?”
Nihan says “He kidnapped my daughter and hasn’t let me see her. He’s threatened me with her life, just as he did with my brother’s. But I won’t let him get away with it this time.”
“Ok, we’ll see what we can do.”
“Hakan, listen. I need to find my daughter. I have no one else who can help. It’s just you. Telling anyone else would put their life at risk. No one else should know” Nihan is trying not to sob.
Ok” he says, and gets back into his car to drive off.
“Rest, my small one. Tomorrow we will see each other. I’ll find you.” Nihan holds her hands to her chin, as if in prayer.
Denise is soundly asleep at the Soydere’s.

Fehime keeps giving Kemal more food. He reminds her that she had just served him, but she rushes it aside with the excuse that prison food must have made him weak. Kemal says that actually the food wasn’t so bad, but Hussein says that it was not five star food either. Tariq interrupts and says “He’s just minimizing everything so that you two don’t worry.”
The comment sets off Kemal: “What do you me to tell you? That everyday I’ve faced death? They’ve always invented excuses to hurt me.”
Asu gets up from the table, not wanting to hear more, but stands nearby.
“Do you want to know about my cell? That damned cell. They always kept me isolated.”
Asu can’t listen anymore and fully exits the area. She sits in the kitchen.
Kemal keeps going: “that cell had a small window, barely letting any light through. It would make you sick to hear about the terrible things that happened to me. There was a guard, what should I tell you about him Tariq? Does my story seem cruel?”
Tariq has a lump in his throat and tries to hold back some tears.
Zeynep stares, trying to understand him.
Kemal stops and laughs,and saying that it was all a joke. Fehime actually believes Kemal and tells him not to joke that way again. Hussein agrees with her, but Leyla looked incredulous and goes to the kitchen to get napkins. She finds Asu crying.
“They’ve hurt him. A lot.” She says. Leyla stays quiet.

Fehime tells Kemal that Zeynep works as a babysitter and doesn’t understand how anyone can trust their baby with a stranger. Tariq defends his sister, saying that she’s only trying to help.
Kemal says “Zeynep, she’s a fast one. She’s capable of getting everything she wants. Tell us, Zeynep. Do you want to talk about it?” She gives him a look asking him to be quiet. He continues anyway: “Why are you looking at me like that? That look of small, innocent girl doesn’t suit you. Why don’t you tell us what you’ve been doing this year? Tell us.”
“This has also been a tough year for her,” Tariq butts in.
“Be quiet,” Kemal tells him, then directs his attention back to Zeynep: “tell us why you’re quiet. Tell them of the heavy weight you’re carrying on your shoulders.”
Hussein asks Kemal what he’s talking about, but Kemal asks that Zeynep be given a moment to speak. Kemal says he wants to know how it is that Zeynep went from being a Sezin to a simple babysitter.
“Everything’s left in the past, Kemal” she says.
“That’s what you think” he says.
Zeynep gets up and slowly walks to her childhood room to cry. Asu saw her along the way, but didn’t seem very sympathetic.
Tariq comments that it seems Kemal missed her a lot. Hussein tells Kemal that he spoke to his sister too harshly, and that things weren’t as simple as they seem.

Kemal goes to the kitchen, asking for tea. Fehime senses the tension between her children and asks Kemal “Son, what is happening between you all? I’m aware that something is affecting you.”
“It’s just your imagination. You think I’ve changed, but really nothing is going on. Don’t forget to put fruit in the tea.”
Kemal walks away but is stopped short when he hears Denise cry. Fehime loudly calls Zeynep to tell her to check up on the baby. Kemal enters the room first just as Denise stops crying. He sits next to her and smiles. Denise was about to continue crying but instead smiled when she grabbed his finger. They both stare at each other and share a moment. He almost picked her up but Zeynep walks into the room.

Kemal begins confronting Zeynep.
“How dare you come to the house and show me your face?”
“Kemal, mom made me-“
“What’s wrong? You’re that affected? Don’t worry. It doesn’t matter anymore.”
“Kemal-“
“Is that your daughter? Does someone have to die so that the truth can come out?”
“She’s not my daughter. I only take care of her.”
“You’re such a good liar, sister. You have the typical expression of someone hiding something. But you know what? You don’t matter to me anymore, you’re not my sister and if i has a choice you never would have been.”
“Don’t lie anymore. You hid it for me and my parents.”
“Not for you. I did it for my parents. But you keep pushing the limits” he held his hand out, pointing in an accusatory manner towards Emir’s residence and says “I know that you’re still thinking about that man and his money. I’m surprised you’re not with him.”
“What happened to you? Why are you like this to me?”
He gets closer to her: “I don’t need anyone to tell me how to behave, especially you of all people. You took the knife and stabbed me to death.”
Zeynep cowers.
“Indifference was my only way out. What’s wrong? Does it hurt?” He walks out and closes the door. She stands there in shame, sobbing.

****

Hello,

I didn’t realize the new post was up and I posted on the old one!

I felt a little bad for Zeynep, but she still hasn’t gotten her karma. Kemal will be livid when he finds out that she’s carrying around Denise, whether or not he knows about her paternity by then. I don’t* think she’s being threatened with anything to be at Emir’s beck and call. She’s just answering to money.

I have hope that Tariq may change, but I know that he put on a show for Kemal. He left Emir because of his mother’s relationship with Banu. I also agree with her that she shouldn’t be forced to be around Fehime if the latter refuses to be nice. Fehime has always been arrogant when she finds something off from her expectations.

I hope Kemal can change back to who he used to be. I’m still not sure how to feel about him doling out his own justice. It’s fair, but at the end of the day Emir remains untouched.

When Nihan asks Leyla if she will continue to judge her, I found it ironic that Leyla says no, yet continues to shame her. She’s another character with a holier than thou attitude. Maybe if she had let her talk to Kemal, he would know why she left and came back. Though isn’t the question redundant? She obviously left to keep her child safe from Emir. Who doesn’t know that? Now she’s seen everywhere without the child, can’t anyone guess that Emir has the baby hostage?

I still wonder why Nihan chose London. In the beginning, when Emir was trying to court her, he offered her tickets to a concert in London for the same night, and said they could get there in his private jet. London isn’t far from Istanbul!

RGV, I noticed the numbering on my TV guide changed! I’m not even sure if the guide is accurate cause I thought season one ended past 115?

Clara, I appreciate all of your efforts. Recapping can be hard.

AMORE ETERNO

Ahh, AnonFri, excellent recap thank you!

I noticed Leyla's contradiction too. I thought she was supposed to be the nice, supportive one, but she is turning out to be quite the busybody with attitude.

I was not at all disturbed with how Kemal treated Zeynep; it was well deserved and her parents need to know what she did. #nomoresecrets

I really enjoyed seeing Kemal with the baby. That close-up of the baby holding Kemal's finger was adorable.

AnonFri, I had also checked the numbering on the Univision site and it coincides with our numbering here.

GENERAL COMMENT:

Hola Caray Caray amigos! ViviDC here, just dropping in to see what's going on and who's watching and recapping telenovelas. It's great to see some familiar names! I hope you are all well and that 2020 has started off well for you!

I still haven't jumped back into the world of tns, but I have been seeing ads for Ringo and other Univision shows while watching CNN and similar English language channels. I wonder if this is part of a strategy to get more non-Spanish speakers watching.

I was also surprised last night when my dvr started automatically recording the new season on La Dona (it was set to record new episodes four years ago when I recapped La Dona season 1). I wasn't even aware a new season was starting!

I was in Uruguay and Argentina in the fall, and saw a bit of El Dragon while I was there. There seems to be a lot more action/violence telenovelas and fewer ones centered around romance/family drama. Not saying one is better than the other, just that the balance seems to be tipping the other way now. Ok. That's all. Ciao, amigos!

VIVI, hey girl how are you? It's so good to hear from you. You probly don't even remember me. I wasn't commenting as much when you were doing recaps.
It's so nice to hear from you. I hope your 2020 started off a blessed one and Keeps on gettin better. Ok bye♡

Hey, Nina! Gracias, amiga. I wish all the best for you in 2020 too.

Hey y'all, a heads up. That comment from Friday at the end, went like this
"Whatever, "she's ok, kemal is "pusy" and Emir's an idiot". That was suppose to be "pushy" not that other horrible sounding Word. Just wanted you to know I'm not Weird that way. Now I'm gonna have lunch then I'll do my comment from last night's episode.

GENERAL

Vivi!!! How wonderful to "see you".

Yes, TNs have changed and there is little "real" romance. I hope the pendulum swings back and that this is but temporary.

You've been missed but it seems as though you've been a very busy woman traveling the world. Enjoy and savor. Life is short.

Wishing you all the best! I hope that you do return to Caray, Caray at some point.

Diana

GENERAL:

Thanks, Diana. It's wonderful to "see" you too. I hope you've been well. Here's to 2020 including more romance and adventure, in both real life and telenovelas!

But NiNa, I can't unlaugh. Just blame it autocorrupt and no harm done. 😂

Vivi...so good to "see" you here. I hope that you and yours are well.

Nina....ha...autocorrect can be a demon. I didn't think that you would call handsome, brooding Kemal that name !!!! ...

P.s. Snow predicted here for Saturday. UGh...Then the temps next week drop into the 30s and 20s. Winter has not left us.

Lol, now yall know auto correct has a mind of her own. She can be really Bitchy At times. Hi Kirbyboo, how you doin sweetypie? I hope 2020 is good you.
I didnt find that typo til today. So
Embarrassing it was. And no I would not call kemal that !!!!!! SusyQ. That is one pretty man.

RINGO

You Can’t Have It Both Ways Part 1

“When a man cheats, it is said it is because he is a dog. When a woman cheats, it is said it is because her man is a dog”. Mokokoma Mokhonoana

Cheating is not necessarily clear cut and may consist of varying shades of grey. Determining when the line has been crossed may not be clearly defined. Some flirt with it, others succumb and take that fatal step. It may not necessarily be a physical act alone. Being with someone in a tempting situation or experiencing emotional yearning and a burning desire for someone who is not free skirts the line at a minimum.

Lying to oneself is one thing but lying to your partner is another. Julia must assume responsibility for her actions with Ringo as she is unaware of Diego’s treachery and does not know he really IS a dog (no disrespect to dogs intended). She is a woman who made a choice to marry, knowing at the outset it was wrong. Refusing to back down and admit her mistake has only compounded the issue. She concocted an elaborate, fabricated story and has now been caught. Does blatant lying constitute cheating? Further, is the lie as mortal a sin as the actual cheating?

Ringo and Julia roar off on his bike as angry tears spill out of Diego’s eyes. As Julia and Ringo enjoy the ride as the theme music plays, Diego makes a call.

Rosa and Guachin discuss his wanting to live with Rosa. However, Rosa talked with the landlady and there is a small room available. He is thrilled! After she gives him a kiss on the cheek, Guachin is floating on air. The landlady arrives, bombarding him with questions – do you have a dog? Kids? No he answers. She lays down the law, affirming she doesn’t want any scandals. No loud music. As she departs, Guachin moves in for a lip kiss as Oso comes in, what’s this? Rosa explains that it was not what he thinks; it was just a “bump.” After Guachin leaves, Rosa asks if Oso is really jealous. Guachin comes back in and asks what is going on. Oso stutters as he tries to explain. The landlady gives Guachin a key.

Diego tells Ivan that he wants to move out. Ivan reminds him of the offer he made, but Diego is still thinking about it. Diego takes Ivan’s coffee from Elsa putting a powder in it and then tells him that he is trying to hire a lawyer. Diego tells him that he is not going to file charges on Brenda and he is not going to accept the offer for the shares. Ivan then gets a call from Sandra so he tells her that he won’t need the attorney after all. Ivan grows increasingly groggy and starts to choke and then collapses. “Elsa” Diego yells as he checks Ivan’s carotid artery. Elsa wants to call an ambulance. No Diego says, call Julia. What a scum.

Diana

RINGO

You Can’t Have It Both Ways Part 2

Rosa doesn’t know why she gained a kilo; she has been following the diet. Oso suggests they go the club but Rosa quickly says she can’t and asks Oso that if anyone asks where she is to tell them she went out of town. Oso knows something is up so she tells them about covering for Ringo and Julia.

Julia as Ringo are leaving their lunch place as she says she had doubts about coming with him but she is glad she did. Then a slow, sensual kissing sequence ensues. Ringo kisses her on the neck, the cheek and then the lips. Then the eyes, then the lips. Again. Ringo tells her that he has wanted to kiss her since the first day that he saw her. Just then, Julia gets the call from Elsa so she tells Ringo that they have to go back.

Turco, (in a hideous pink and black houndstooth jacket), and Gloria discuss Santi’s birthday. Turco wants to surprise Santi and go to the States to live since Turco can make more money there. Gloria doesn’t want to go but Turco orders they are going. Carrizo cackles in the background wearing a gold chain that must weigh 100 grams. Lackey pay is obviously much higher than I’d assumed.

As Julia and Ringo fly home, Diego sits Ivan down on the couch as he refuses water. Diego looks on solicitously. When Elsa mentions the ambulance, Ivan tells her to cancel it. Julia can take him to the hospital when she returns. Brenda enters and asks what happened so Elsa explains. Brenda wants to take Ivan to the hospital but they insist on waiting for Julia. Brenda then asks for JJ. She doesn’t want anything bad to happen to him. Alejo watches the scene uncomfortably.

Three hooded thugs overtake Bernardo the guard and burst into the house brandishing guns as the occupants hold up their hands. Alejo begs for calm. Where is the money they scream?

Rosa is at the club in disguise but still nervous. Eva arrives and still recognizes her. She can’t weigh more than 100 pounds but I digress. Rosa tells Eva that she has to lose weight - she doesn’t know how she gained it. Guachin pops his head in and tells her that it’s her heart that is heavy.I love that kid! Eva is wrapping her with saran wrap. Oso comes in and makes a suggestion about tightening the paper around her “asentaderas” (her behind). He is offended when Eva laughs and tells him that she hadn’t heard that since her grandma’s time.

Julia and Ringo arrive and find Bernardo the security guard tied up. Ringo decides to go in. Take care Julia says.

Diana

RINGO

You Can’t Have It Both Ways Part 3

Brenda is crying as the thieves caution her to be quiet. Alejo says she is nervous. Ivan is trying to keep up as drawers are searched as the situation escalates. Due to their nervous screaming, the thief threatens Elsa and Brenda. One of the thieves sees Bernardo (untied) and Julia outside. Things are beyond tense as the intruders hear glass break. Going to investigate, one of the intruders is knocked out by Ringo who takes his gun. A melee occurs where shots are fired and Ringo is grazed in the arm. Mancuso grabs Julia. Diego intervenes and gets shot in the leg. I hope it hurts. Real bad.

Zorra is on TV trashing Rosa, saying she will be sending her to the hospital after she knocks off her smile. The guys want Rosa to go on TV to respond but Rosa prefers to show what she’s got in the ring. Oso beams his approval.

The police are at Ivan’s as Ringo gives his version of what occurred. Afterwards, Ringo tells Alejo that something is up. He recognized the leader’s voice as the one who attacked him and was at the house a few days ago.

Manuel and Max are talking when Alejo calls Manuel and fills him in. Manuel is alarmed and of course, very sympathetic.

Julia is at the hospital with Ivan telling him how bad she felt when Elsa called. Ivan just wants Julia to trust him and to stop her investigation into his company. Julia agrees but she won’t stop her investigation on Llorente. She then goes to ask about Diego who is now stable. He will not need any therapy.

Manuel goes to Teresa’s place and tells them about the hold up. Teresa who knew nothing about it is flummoxed. Rosa asks what Ringo is doing there since he and Julia were going to spend the day together! Oops, busted!! Teresa calls and chides Ringo for not telling her what happened. He tells her that he is fine, but Diego was shot.

Alejo tries to comfort a shaken, manic Brenda who babbles that Julia is stealing him from her. That is why she had to tell him. She thinks about how she went in and told Diego that Julia is lying...she is going off with Ringo. Brenda is very scared...he is very bad...it’s his fault.

Ringo arrives at the hospital, asking Julia for an update on Diego and Ivan. When he asks how she is, Julia feels very bad...she feels very guilty because while they were off having their fun, her father, Diego and Brenda were about to get killed.

Diego opens his eyes to see Mancuso; he asks what he is doing there.

Julia will never forgive herself. She asks Ringo to put himself in Diego’s place; what would he think of a married woman went off with someone? No one can understand such a betrayal. Ringo reminds her that they were yearning for that kiss, but Julia doesn’t want him reminding her of it. She asks Ringo to forgive her but what they have together is over...the escapades are over as are the dancing and the longing looks through the window.

Julia walks away sobbing as Ringo stares pensively, deep in thought.

RINGO

Sincere thanks to Rgv Chick whose assistance in trying to capture the non stop dialog was invaluable.

I would like to make it clear that I hold Ringo responsible for what transpired with Julia every bit as much as I hold her accountable. Bottom line is that he isn't married. Period. But I may unleash on him in the future :)

Diego is beyond evil. Ivan might well have died. A high price for proving your wife lied to you.

Diana

RINGO

Loved the quote about DOGS and your thoughts on cheating. Perfect for the episode. I so agree: “I hope it hurts. Real bad.” Sorry to say, but I was hoping Diego had gotten shot in his femoral artery and had bled out. I was so disappointed that he won’t even need therapy.

Gloria was a disappointment. If she doesn’t want to go live back in the USA with Turco and his fellow idiot Carrizo, why would she go?

Time for Iván or Julia to do something already about Brenda. There are only 82 episodes total. LOL

As for Julia and Diego, that ending was a long time coming. Better to see them moping than drooling over each other. The ball will be in Julia’s court when she finds out that Diego is a DOG and a potential murderer as I am sure she will.

The only bright light last night was “Rosa la maravillosa”. She made me smile wrapped in her Saran Wrap ready to sweat off her kilo.

RINGO

Another sizzler Diana. Although I laughed at the quote. C'mon, people usually say if the man cheats it's because his wife is inadequate. If the woman cheats, she's a shameless hussy who doesn't value her marriage, family etc. Still...it was a fun quote, and I always love your thoughtful weighing of pros and cons, in social and emotional situations.

"Then a slow, sensual kissing sequence ensues. Ringo kisses her on the neck, the cheek and then the lips."

Whoa baby! Didn't see the episode but I "saw" that scene, thanks to your description. No wonder your recap was a sizzler.

And loved these as well:

"Carrizo cackles in the background, wearing a gold chain that must weigh 100 grams
Lackey pay obviously is much higher than I'd assumed."

and this:

"Gauchin pops his head in and tells her that it's her heart that is heavy! I love that kid!"

But most of all, maybe this:
You were gently critical of Julia's poor decisions, understanding of our gorgeous Ringo but then added:

"I may unleash on him in the future."

Ahhh baby, you're in love! And I totally understand...José Ron is quite adorable in this one, so it's hard to find fault with his ardent pursuit of the conflicted Julia. A man's gotta do what he's gotta do. And who can get mad at a noble fighter, decent all around guy, fabulous father, good son, faithful friend...who in addition has a killer smile, smouldering eyes and ripped muscles? And you even got to continue your "dog theme" with "I may UNLEASH...." Wow.

Thanks for a fun read to start my day.

RINGO

Jarifa, thank you! I laughed that you were "...hoping Diego had gotten shot in his femoral artery and had bled out". Oh, my thoughts exactly!! And then, for it to be "only a scratch" (channeling Monty Python) was absurd! That looked like a significant bullet wound to me, but hey... And your "Better to see them moping than drooling over each other" on Julia and Ringo was spot on.

Judy, I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I just loved the quote and had to use it. Yes, women always get far more "blame" for infidelity so I thought this was a little bit of payback. I knew you would get my "unleash" comment about Ringo :) And your "man's gotta do what he's gotta do. And who can get mad at a noble fighter, decent all around guy, fabulous father, good son, faithful friend...who in addition has a killer smile, smouldering eyes and ripped muscles" made me realize all the reasons I'm so enjoying this character!

Honestly, the supporting characters are stealing the show. Gauchin, Turco, even Carrizo. I won't include Rosa and Oso as they are the heartbeat and soul of the show.

Diana

AMOR ETERNO

Season 2, #121, Part I Mother and Child Reunion

Kemal's dinner "party" is breaking up. Zeynep has 8 missed called from Emir.

Leyla wants to walk for a bit. Ayhan [this is the "director of visitors" from the prison] is outside and calls after her "Fehime." She doesn't recognize him until he says "I'll never forget your face, Cleopatra." Leyla walks away to Ayhan's flirty comments about her walk.

Kemal comes outside, "what are you doing here?" Ayhan tells Kemal to bring the director's wife and kids back. Kemal asks if he's working for them, and Ayhan retorts "apprentice, do your homework." Kemal and Asu leave.

Zeynep returns with a crying Denise in her carrier. Emir wants to know where Nep was. Zeynep tells Emir she should put Denise to bed, but Emir barks at her: "do your job." Nep explains where she was, that Kemal was released from prison. Emir explodes: "how dare you take my daughter to Kemal?"

Alien phone call. It's an upset and crying Nihan. Emir wants to know if she decided. Nihan can hear Denise crying in the background, and instructs Emir how to put her down: turn off the lights and lie down next to her. Emir refuses at first, but ultimately lies down and follows Nihan's instructions on how to hold Denise's hand and touch each finger [sort of what Kemal knew instinctively to do?].

The pucker face gradually becomes a bit more tender. Not the call of the blood, but Denise seems to have charmed him. But then he says to Nihan: "I'm not doing this again! Tomorrow is your last day. Make your decision."

Switch to Asu and Kemal at home:

A: You asked me here because I pressured you, right?

K: I haven't had any company in a year, and now we'll be together forever, day and night.

A: What I've always dreamed of ....

K: I know.

Kemal caresses Asu's face, lays her down gently on the bed, hovers over her. Meanwhile, he's having flashbacks to Nihan's face.

K: I can't, Asu. I'm sorry. I can't.

A: You're thinking about her, right?

K: The day will come when we'll be together. I'm not ready.

Asu gets up, moves to sit on the far edge of the bed.

K: But stay, I don't want to be alone.

Asu comes to him and they curl up together on top of the bed.

A: They hurt you so much. I want to heal your wounds.

K: If you only knew where to find them. There are no wounds -- but I'm dying.

Clara

AMOR ETERNO

Season 2, # 121 Part 2 Mother and Child Reunion

Nihan and Hakan meet at the seaside. Anxious Nihan: "did you find them?" Hakan lets her down: "I couldn't do anything. We can't prove there was a kidnapping. We can only do what Emir wants.....everyone fears the name Kozcuoglu. I tried to help you, but it's impossible." Nihan gets in her car, screams, and pounds the steering wheel.

Phone call between Hakan and Emir. "Did you dash my wife's hopes? You work for me." [There goes that option.]

It's the next morning. Kemal and Asu are waking up, still clothed and atop the bed. Nihan is messaging Kemal. Asu sees the screen and hands Kemal his phone. Nihan's message is "I need to see you immediately."

Asu has a jealousy fit which Kemal silences: "I have unresolved issues with Nihan. You knew that when we got engaged. But I'm committed to you."

Emir calls Nihan: "I'm dying to see you in your new home, and I'm anxious to start our story of love."

BNow Emir is talking to Denise on the bed. "Who do you look like? Your mother? Today is your birthday -- I don't want to think about anything else" [?] Zeynep is listening to Emir via the baby monitor.

Kemal opens his door to Nihan. Kemal has a slightly softer look. Nihan is tense.

N: I accept your offer. Whatever you want....but after, you'll help me, promise!

K: Whatever I want? You're that desperate?

Kemal approaches Nihan, takes down her hair, intensely searching her eyes, and buries his face in her hair. And then:

K: I don't want to waste any more time with you. I won't help you. I condemn you to the evil you deserve. You have nothing I want. Tell me, who are you? Someone who acts selfishly, someone who gave a child to an evil man. Nothing about you deserves my help. This is justice! I condemn you forever to the evil you deserve.

Kemal twists the knife. He calls Asu out from the back room.

K: Asu, dear, come here.

Asu stands alongside him, and Kemal puts his arm around her.

K: Soon we'll be married. So don't come back. Asu doesn't want to see you here.

Ouch. Nihan is staggering down the road, talking to herself. "I feel lost. I have two enemies for as long as I live. One who I'll love all my life, and the other I'll hate from the depths of my being."

Clara

AMOR ETERNO

Season 2, #121, Part 3 Mother and Child Reunion

Totally defeated, Nihan sits on the front steps of Emir's new house [a big white square thing with arches].

Nihan tells Emir he's won, "ganaste." Emir responds that he's won their love story. Nihan mutters she's doing everything for Denise.

Now we get the happy reunion. Nihan is overjoyed, babbling to Denise, "I was so afraid I'd lose you...I missed you so much, did you miss me?"

Standing there, Emir says she'll have all the luxuries. Nihan answers "remember your place," and Emir retorts "I'll remember my place, if you remember the limits." [?]

Meanwhile Kemal, at gunpoint, is brought somewhere. Ayhan and some men are there. Kemal refuses to give Ayhan the address where the director's wife [Selma] and son can be found. Ayhan tells Kemal "You must learn to listen."

Kemal looks at some objects on a table [tools? guns? torture instruments? did not see clearly]. Kemal says: "are you trying to intimidate me with this? You'd harm an innocent man?"

Kemal explains that he promised the director's wife to keep the director away. The director beat his wife every day, and her son lost hearing from his beatings. Ayhan demands the address where they are. Kemal says "get out of my way, don't try to stop me." Ayhan holds his lackey back and lets Kemal leave.

Ayhan tells his men "he [Kemal] is right. We need to learn more about him. What is his reality? We need to find his inner child. Investigate and let me know."

Kemal calls Zehir, who has been working on setting up a meeting involving Emir. Emir will never know what hit him [?]

Final scene is Nihan with Denise flashing back to Kemal's put-down of her. Nihan consoles Denise and herself, "all will be well, the two of us will be together forever."

~~~~~~~~~
Nihan's spirit is crushed with the dual blows of Hakan and Kemal [in brutal fashion]. She's exhausted what she thinks are the only avenues to get Denise away from Emir without more mayhem, so back we go again. Sigh. At least the story is barrelling along at a quick pace.
I wonder if Ayhan's confusing Leyla with Fehime will have some significance? And Ayhan kept calling Kemal "apprentice." Don't know if he was just taunting him -- as seems to be his style -- or is he suggesting Kemal is overlooking something? That dialogue was confusing.
When I said earlier that I didn't like the cruel version of Kemal, I didn't mean to minimize the effect of a YEAR in solitary confinement. That was a powerful scene Monday night at dinner where Kemal described his prison experiences. Kudos to Kemal's acting [Burak Ozcivit], cuz he really seems like a completely different person pre- and post-prison.
Clara
Amor Eterno
Thank you,Clara,
Yikes. It was painful to watch that scene between Kemal and Nihan . Love hurts, love scars....it made me think of that sad song.
RINGO
Diana, great recap and I smiled when I read your quote...how appropriate!
The lengths that Diego went to to "blackmail" Julia into returning to him are beyond belief. My only question is "how long did it take him to plan this out...certainly it was not spur of the moment??
I am also bamboozled about Gloria. She always seem to have Turco at her feet; yet she is allowing Turco to force her into going back to the States...or is it the mention of money that convinces her to follow him?
Agree with everyone about how entertaining the other actors are!
Busy day ahead...have a good day, patio!
AMOR ETERNO
Clara, thank you for such a wonderful recap and the dialog you provided was perfect! I'm still having trouble figuring out who some of these people are and their histories with the families, so the recaps help quite a bit.
I too was puzzled about Emir's comment that Nihan "knew the limits." Was he referring to all the original conditions he had set; or did he set new conditions while they were sitting outside? I suppose we will eventually find out.
Clara, good point about Kemal changing so much after that horrid experience in prison for a year. Still, I would like him to cut Nihan some slack since she lost both her father and her brother at the same time...and he does, after all, still love her. Or maybe his reason for punishing her is more because he is angry at himself for still loving her rather than anything else.
AMOR ETERNO
Thank you Clara!
We should have known Emir would have gotten to Hakan first! What was I thinking? He had him threatened before the time jump already. Doesn't mean Hakan isn't gathering evidence to file on him later, though.
Nihan really did have no choice then. I probably would have gone back to Emir and find ways to escape after, because now Emir is aware that Nihan is rebelling. I think Kemal would have given her a second thought if she had just told him the truth about Denise, but he didn't seem interested in anything she had to say anyway. Did Kemal do some type of Turkish voodoo thing when he cursed her? If she's innocent of what he condemns her for, that curse is going right back on him. Also, Asu didn't even look like she enjoyed seeing Nihan being humiliated. The whole thing made Asu look dumb for even being part of it- she should really stop begging him. And what will he say when he finds out she's the one who's known about Zeynep and Emir since the beginning?
So the director of visitors is named Ayhan. I wonder why he called Leyla Fehime too. He probably did it just to bother her.
I saw that when Emir actually tried to calm down Denise, his alien brain was going to implode from the interaction. The baby is probably going to win him over.
The problem with the characters in this novela is that they're so focused on the forest, they miss seeing various trees in the process.
RINGO
Thanks Rgv Chick. As the saying goes, I couldn't have done it without you!
Most of us seem to be confused by Turco and Gloria. One minute, he's her protector, the next he's in tears begging, seemingly ready to do anything to get her to stay!I think he has a fear of abandonment due to his mother issues.
That said, he has been appallingly nasty to her. Her swagger only goes so far I think. I don't know if he's smart enough to try and get Gloria and Santi away from Ringo or if he is simply in it for the money. Time will tell!
Diana
RINGO 33 & 34
Gracias for these excellent recaps. I am always thinking that we could do a better job than the writers because there is no good reason for Julia to stay married to Diego except as a plot device. She should divorce Snidely Whiplash immediately.... no; she should get into the Atavachron to go back to the day before the wedding and cancel it.
I don't know whom I hate more, Gloria or Brenda. Gloria is a poor excuse for a mother because she doesn't give a damn about her child's feelings about anything. Nor is she considering that taking Santi to the US will present some serious problems for him, ones she won't able to cope with. She only fought for custody of him to hurt Juan Jose. Brenda's mental illness is seriously dangerous and I fear for her dog as well as the humans in her life.
Diego could have killed Ivan with the stunt he pulled in #34. Karma gave him a warning when he got shot in the leg, but we know his evil isn't satisfied yet.
When Juan Jose picked up the pistol I was screaming inside. Fingerprints, man!
RINGO
Diana, muchisimas gracias! Monday and Tuesday's recaps are absolutely fabulous. I'm tracking with JudyB on favorite lines. And I also love this ditty -- the pacing and words are perfecto: Elsa wants to call an ambulance. No Diego says, call Julia. What a scum.
I've been surprised and annoyed by Ringo's undaunted pursuit since Julia said "I do" to Diego. Infidelity is definitely not the way to go, but Ringo isn't fighting for her to cheat, he is fighting for her to leave Diego. I do wish he would leave Julia to her own devices though. Even without Ringo hanging around, she will not be happy with Diego. That said, I'm glad we finally got the first kiss and it was sensational.
Diego poisoning Ivan is the last straw for me. Diego is just as dangerous as Brenda. And how in the world is it that he has a stash of undetectable poisons at the ready.
I'm wondering if Diego paid the goons to shoot him in the leg (presumably a safe spot, though in reality a shot to the leg can kill) to gain sympathy from Julia.
GENERAL COMMENT
Vivi, nice to have a visit from you! I have issues with the narco violence, but mostly I like the wide variety of TNs from which to choose.
Yeah, that's it. I don't think they are done with each other yet. That thing, whatever it is he thinks he has with Aus is so
Empty. He's is more using her to hurt nihan more than Anything.
And that was painful last night.
These actors are really good.
AnonFri,blocs the recap. These actors
Are really Good and believable too. It
Was painful watching nihan beg for help from hakan, and then to find out he's been bought too. She and kemal seem to be the only ones not afraid of
Emir.
Kemal put a cursing on her. But it wont stand. They'll be back together.
After all the fire has burned down.
Notice I said "fire" not "smoke"? This
Is burning hot. And its getting hotter
I saw that scene with emir and Denise.
Kinda sweet, kinda touching. But like
You said the call of the blood wasn't
There. Emir is a dead man with no heart of any color. When He yelled at nep for taking Denise to her parents for "The welcome kemal dinner". He was
More pist about kemal seeing his own daughter than any thing else. He wants
To control everything, even the amount of pain he doles out to his greatest
Rival, kemal Soydere.
I like Ayhan. Is that pronounced "ion"
Or "A-han"? Is the "y" silent? He's a
Good pick for leyla.
Kemal ♡ nihan. Asu who?
Lol thank you AnonFri. This is goooood
RINGO
Ep. 35, Part 1: When Family Ties Are Disturbed, Devoted Children Arise (Laozi
Julia closes the door as she cries and Ringo walks away fighting back his tears.
Diego tells Mancuso to leave since someone will see him. Mancuso refuses as he thinks about Diego calling him and asking him to plan for the assault on the Garay house. When Mancuso demands to be paid, Diego tells him he will call him when he gets out of the hospital and adds “Good job!” As Mancuso leaves, Turco enters wearing a hideous pink and black jacket followed by Carrizo.
At the gym, Oso asks for info on Rosa’s mother and daughter since he needs to include them in the insurance for Rosa’s fight. He points out that this is the start of her career as a boxer; and he wants to be a large part of it…she knows what he means. Rosa thinks that no one can have everything, He will either be a trainer or a partner in life… and f she has to choose she chooses the trainer. Boohoo
Diego gives Turco and Carrizo his account of what happened. Thanks to him Julia was not her (yeah right!). Julia then enters and Diego asks where she was so she tells him she was his father. When Julia asks how Diego is, Turco scoffs and reminds her that he was shot…that is what happens when you hire a someone who is inept as a guard. Diego tells him that Ringo did what he could. After Turco and Carrizo leave, Diego lays on thick as he tells Julia that he doesn’t know what he would have done if they had killed her. When he saw that they had grabbed her, he felt as if he would die (we wished he had!)
Tere enters Ringo’s rom and worries when she sees his injury. When she starts to scold him, Ringo ask her not to continue since he has enough problems. When Tere suggests that he should get normal job, Ringo reminds her that she was the one who urged him to take the job as a guard. Tere then wonders what he was doing at the Garay house and asks if he has something going on with Julia. When she sees his torn facial expression, she knows he does and chides him for it.
Julia looks at Ringo’s picture on her phone and moons over it. She fights the urge to call him and then goes to Diego and caresses his forehead.
Turco shows Gloria the house he wants to buy in the States, but Gloria would prefer that the house be there in Mexico. Carrizo butts in and tells her that Turco already bought it.” When Turco continues to try to sell her on the idea, Gloria feels pressured, but Turco explains that he isn’t trying to force her to go, he is just helping her decide. After Turco asks Carrizo to leave, he asks Gloria what is going on so Gloria tells her that it’s because of Santi who doesn’t want to leave his father. Turco then calls Santi and tells him that they are returning to the States. Santi is ecstatic because he thinks that he will be going back to live with his father, but when Turco tells him that he is going with them. Santi cries that he will not go and runs out.
Santi sits on his bed looking furious as Gloria knocks on the door and asks him to let her in.
Ivan, Diego and Julia arrive home, Ringo asks if they need help, Julia coldly tells him “No.”
Gloria chides Turco for telling Santi about going to the USA as Santi sneaks out.
RINGO
Ep. 35, Part 2: When Family Ties Are Disturbed, Devoted Children Arise (Laozi)
The gym club guys watch as the promoters get ready to for the gal’s weigh-in. In another room, Oso and Gauchin argue about who will take the saran wrap off of Rosa so she tells them she will take it off herself. Out in the gym, Rafa approaches Zorra and invites her out for a drink after the weigh-in. After she tells him she already has plans, Zorra turns around, gives the ring guys a look over, and asks Antunes for the number of the “bonbon” (eye candy) so she can have someone to celebrate with after she wins the fight.
Ringo and Alejo discuss their doubts about the assault. Ringo thinks it was too much of a big deal for simple thieves. Alejo also is suspicious especially after what she told him…that she had to tell Diego something and that Diego is the devil. Alejo thinks Diego is involved somehow. Ringo then tells him that Brenda is with her therapist and urges to go see her. It will make her happy.
Upstairs, Brenda explains to tells Leticia about her drawing (a man and woman on a motorcycle). As the therapist asks about the fire behind the motorcycle, Alejo is in the hallway and stops to listen. Brenda explains that it is the fire with which he set her fire…she can’t live without him; he is the man she loves and who gives purpose to her life. Brenda knows that she knows he loves her more than anything.
In the next bedroom, Julia is struggling to make Diego feel comfortable. Diego wants her to lie beside him because he wants to go to sleep in her arms, (Barf!) After she lies beside him. Diego leans on her and closes his eyes so Julia gets up to go get some water. In the hallway, she sees Alejo and asks what he is doing; so, he ask what Brenda’s diagnosis is. Julia replies that Brenda is bipolar. Inside Brenda tells the therapist that she doesn’t understand Julia then quickly admires her shoes (coo-coo, coo-coo). As Leticia leaves, Brenda goes sees Alejo and Julia. When Alejo enters her room, Brenda tells him that she doesn’t like him to surprise her. When he sees the drawing, he questions her about who the man is, so she tells him it is him.
Gloria enters Santi’s room and sees that Santi is gone.
Diego calls Ringo and turns the dagger as he tells Ringo hat he is going to bed with his wife and doesn’t want any interruptions. They are going to make love while Ringo guards the door.
At the gym, the announcer introduces the two gals. Zorra make fun of “Rosa la Maravillosa” while Rosa only says hello to her mother and daughter. Antunes criticizes Rosa for not responding to Zorra; so, Oso tells her to respond to Zorra’s remarks but Rosa thinks she already has. The girls are weighed and found to be within the weight limits. Rosa is ecstatic and hugs everyone including Zorra, but Zorra pushes her away. They start pushing each other and Zorra tells Rosa that she is going to destroy her. Rosa retorts that she is not scared of her!
Julia walks Leticia out. Leticia tells her about making sure that Brenda takes her meds and attends her session. Once Leticia is gone, Ringo tries to talk to Julia but Julia asks him not to insist. Just then Santi comes in and cries that he doesn’t want to leave to the USA. He asks Ringo to tell Gloria not to take him, but Ringo scold shim for leaving without telling his mother…she will be worried.
Oso is proud of Rosa for standing up to Zorra, but Rosa tells him that she doesn’t want to be like that. She tells Oso that she will fight but she is going to go up in the ring and show Zorra exactly who she is. Oso reminds her that if she doesn’t abide by the contract, they will be in serious problems. Antunes approaches and interjects that Rosa thinks she is so good but Zorra is going to destroy her. When Rosa retorts that she will show Zorra who she is, Antunes reminds Oso that Rosa better not open her mouth…she’d better go down!
RINGO
Ep. 35, Part 3: When Family Ties Are Disturbed, Devoted Children Arise (Laozi)
In her bedroom, Diego again tells Julia to lie down beside him. He reiterates that if something had happened to her, he would have died (just nauseating!). He is very happy that she is there with him and wants them to start from zero. Brenda and Alejo then walk in to see how Diego is. She tells them that she is having nightmares…and asks why Julia arrived with Ringo. Julia explains that after Elsa called her, she called Ringo.
Outside, Gloria scolds Santi for leaving without telling her. When Ringo asks if they are going back to the States, Gloria replies that they are thinking about it. Ringo insists that she will not take Santi anywhere. As they yell at each other, the foursome upstairs listens. Ringo tells Gloria that Santi needs his friends and family, but Gloria insists that Santi will go with her whether he likes it or not. Ringo then calls Alejo. When Alejo tells them that he is going down, Julia wants to go too, but Diego tells her that she has no business going…it’s none of her business. After Julia leaves to get meds, Brenda thinks Diego must be very happy since everything turned out well for him. She thinks that what happened was more than a coincidence. She wants to make a deal-- if he forgets about the fire, she will forget that she warned him.
Ringo and Gloria continue to argue. Alejo reminds Gloria that she can’t take Santi out of the country without the father’s consent; if she tries to take him she will be in trouble. Gloria hisses that she has good lawyers and will take her son wherever she pleases. After Gloria and Santi leave, Alejo advises Ringo to try to get along with Gloria since she will always be Santi’s mother.
Oso reminds Rosa that she needs to lose in the fight tomorrow. After he promises that she will be able to win in the next fight, Rosa insists that she will do what she came to do…WIN!
Carrizo goes into the shower room and flirtingly asks Zorra (who must like to take lots of showers) if she needs help. When she asks him to get her a towel, he leaves and Rafa enters. Zorra tells him that she thought he was Carrizo whom she is waiting for since they are going to take a shower together. Rafa chides her for being interested in such a dumb guy who Carrizo is just Turco’s cat. Carrizo enters and pushes Rafa. When they start fighting, Zorra gets out of the shower (clothes on!) and Oso enters to stop the fight. Carrizo makes fun of Rafa since his father is defending him, so Oso tells him to leave, After Carrizo leaves, Oso chides Rafa for getting into it with Carrizo…he is supposed to set a good example for the club since he is his son...a Villar! After everyone leaves, Gauchin comes in with a big smile and tells Oso that everything is set. Damasio will be going to go look for them! Oso reminds Gau that it is a surprise.
Ringo enters the kitchen and sees Julia. After he mentions that they are destined to see each other. Julia tells him that she has told Diego that she is going to try to make things work. She can’t do it if she sees Ringo every day and wants him to transfer to the brewery. When Julia asks that he request the transfer to avoid questions, Ringo refuses and will only leave if she runs him off.
Oso talks to Rosa and tells her how much the club means to him…and how he is so proud. He then asks that she forgive him for agreeing to have her lose the fight. Rosa also apologizes for being so difficult. Boxing is her life and she wants to give it her all. She assures him that she will lose but the first two rounds will be hers. Just then Gauchin enters and excitedly tells them that “they’re here!” He leads Rosa out to the next room, to where her surprise, she sees her mother and daughter. She thinks she is dreaming, but runs to them and hugs them as happy tears flow.
RINGO
Thanks, RgvChick. Great recap. Interesting and appropriate quote. I loved your spot-on “.......” comments.
With all the talk of the of cheating in baseball these days, the “fixed” fight plot fits right in. Too bad cheating is so common in professional sports that it seems to be accepted to a certain degree. I can see why it would bother Rosa. Again, the Rosa plot was the highlight for me. Yes, “boo hoo” for poor Oso that she chose the “trainer.”
I don’t know who was more distasteful, Ringo not missing a beat in his pursuit of Julia or Julia asking him to request a transfer so she wouldn’t have to see him everyday and make it easier on HER. Those two are incredibly self centered so I guess they do deserve each other in their own unique way.
What does Carrizo do except “hang on”? He is so annoying. Who is he anyway? I missed that way back when this started.
RINGO
So impressed by these thoughtful, meaningful quotes that you and Diana find to set the stage for the recaps. We readers are the lucky ones. And your reactions to Diego sure had me laughing this morning:
When he saw that they had grabbed her, he felt as if he would die (we wished he had!)
...he wants to go to sleep in her arms (Barf!)
...if something had happened to her, he would have died (just nauseating)
I also have to agree with Jarifa when she says:
I don’t know who was more distasteful, Ringo not missing a beat in his pursuit of Julia or Julia asking him to request a transfer so she wouldn’t have to see him everyday and make it easier on HER.
The writers have muffed this romance, making it hard for us to root for the protagonists. But we still have Ringo's burning eyes and hot bod' to console us for the poor staging of this love affair. Thanks Rgv Chick!
AMOR ETERNO
Season 2 #122
(1)
Emir is on the phone with Asu. She wants him to admit that he actually enjoys having a little sister. He admits it, but expects the same from her too. She asks him what does he want from her. Emir says that they can’t do it over the phone so he expects her to come see him. At first she says she’s can’t, but he stresses that anything that has to do with him is very important. She concedes, but doesn’t want to see him at Kozcouglu Holding. He pushes that she meet him there, because the topic is her fiancé. He hangs up on her. When the call ends, Tufan asks her what Emir wants, and she says she doesn’t know. Tufan warns her not to fall into the trap, because she’ll get stuck in the rivalry between Emir and Kemal,that’s already picking up. Asu says that she’s on Kemal’s side, and that she’s not stuck in the crossfire at all.
Zeynep is speaking to her boss at the threshold of the home. The lady gives her an envelope and tells her she’s fired. Zeynep wants to know why and the lady responds that she found out Zeynep had lied about going to a funeral for a family member. Zeynep lies again by saying that she had to do something very important, but the lady doesn’t want to hear it and goes back into her home. Irritated, Zeynep calls Emir and leaves him a voicemail blaming him for her job loss and threatens that she’ll tell Nihan the truth about who was taking care of Denise the past few days. We see Hakan spying on her from his car.
Emir and Nihan are home; he’s ready for them to discuss the conditions of her return. Nihan lists her expectations: Vildan is coming into the house, Nihan and Emir will be sleeping in separate rooms and he is not to go anywhere near Denise. Emir brings up that she actually should be worrying about keeping Kemal away from Denise, that an order of protection should be sufficient for that.
“I’m not gonna do something like that. Denise is only mine.”
“She has my last name” Emir says.
“If you try anything-“
“Kemal won’t find out. So hug your daughter and your husband or else someone will die from a gunshot wound in the head.”
Nihan gets up to leave but he stops her, asking if she wants to start over again. Nihan comments that they already did.
Kemal and Zehir are in a reunion with some property owners of several mines. Kemal is trying to get them to sell their licenses, but one of the owners asks why they should do that at all. Kemal convinces them that they will get a lot of money in return. The men seemed reluctant, but shook hands with Kemal.
Emir walks with Nihan to the kitchen and tells her that he got some of the old staff back, knowing that she’s a very difficult person to please. Nihan welcomes Efsame, a young woman and an older man. She asks Efsame not to judge her because now that they’ve gone through some difficult times, she needs some mercy and would like for her to forget what’s happened. Efsame agrees with her. Emir comments that someone with Kemal’s personality would go well with the house, and the young woman jokes “Or we’ll have to burn the house down.” Nihan looks at her in distaste and asks Efsame who she is. Efsame responds that she’s her cousin, who’s come to live her because she got a scholarship at the local university and Emir apparently approved her stay. Nihan says that she will be bringing her mother into the house and expects no one to talk about the past. She walks out with Emir, and Efsame chides her cousin for having made that dumb joke. The girl claims she would rather deal with Emir because he smiles more.
Emir and Nihan are out in the verandah, overlooking the pool. He tells Nihan that he’ll have to go to work soon, now that he has to feed three people. He also says that she should prepare for tonight because they will be having a double celebration. Nihan wants to know about what, but he tells her it’s a surprise. She responds that there are no surprises in life and walks back into the house. Alone, Emir calls someone to ask him to accompany Asu into his office.
Zehir and Kemal are now alone at the restaurant. Zehir comments that everyone should be afraid of Kemal. He responds that this is only the beginning, and asks Zehir to call their contact for his agenda. Zehir confesses to Kemal that Zera isn’t some random person.
“Do you remember when you asked me why everyone calls me Zehir?” He asks.
“You said it was because you’re poison to the people you love” Kemal answers.
“The person that I turned into poison for, is Zera” Zehir says. “It’s a very simple story: I abandoned the girl without any explanations. I turned into that woman’s hate. A lie. I saw her unexpectedly last year. I escaped but didn’t get far. I’m not sure if she’s working for Emir because of me or if it’s just destiny. I tried to talking to her but she refuses to listen to anything I have to say.”
“Are you with me Zehir?” Kemal asks.
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t let her confuse you, that might be what she’s trying to do. I need you with a clear head.”
“I don’t know, can it be any other way?”
“That’s what you wish you could believe.”
“What will we do?”
“Call Zera. Ask her to work for me. She’ll listen to you.”
Meanwhile Zera is in her Kozcouglu office, trying to see if her investigator has anything on Kemal Soydere. She claims she’s sure something bad will happen because Kemal is associated with Zehir. Later on in the day, Zera gets a call from her investigator regarding an auction. She shows interest and asks if it will be held today.
Nihan is visiting her father and brother’s tomb. She’s speaking to both of them, remembering how she would rest her head on her father’s shoulder. She starts blaming herself for their deaths: she’s the one who should have died, and if only she had avoided Kemal, this whole tragedy would have never happened. Her inability to think clearly made her unable to protect either of them. Nihan then swears to her father that she’ll protect her daughter and find a way to get away from Emir. She tells Onder about everything she tried to do to get Denise back, but no one wanted to help. Nihan starts planning that she’ll gain Emir’s trust first to disappear out of nowhere when he least expects it.
Meanwhile Efsame’s cousin is in the car with Denise, bored.
Kemal is in his car, finishing speaking to his mother. He hangs up and notices the cemetery up ahead. He decides to go in, but sits in his car for a bit wondering if he should visit the tombs. He finally gets out and notices a white car with a girl and baby in the backseat. He wasn’t able to see Denise.
AMOR ETERNO
(3)
Nihan is still crying, claiming that it’s hard to abandon them both in the cemetery. Kemal walks up behind her, listening to her telling the tombs that she loves them and will come back. When she turns around and sees him, she demands to know if he came to check up on the lives that have been lost because of him. Kemal counters that his conscience is not the one that needs to be cleared. Nihan threatens that she doesn’t want him in her life ever again or else. He interrupts and says “But you can come near mine?” He walks away not waiting to hear her answer.
Nihan, the cousin and Denise are at Leyla’s front door. Nihan tells the girl that while she’s living with the Kozcouglus she will have to work. The girl gets sassy regarding her schoolwork and Nihan tells her that she talks too much. Leyla answers the door and happily reaches over for Denise. Nihan walks in and starts calling her mother to come down and see the baby. Leyla looks at the girl and asks her who she is. Nihan answers for her, calling her a persona non grata. Vildan comes downstairs and is excited to see her granddaughter. Nihan tells her mother that they will be living together with Emir now. Vildan states that she actually is home already, which Leyla affirms.
Zehir is driving somewhere and calls Zera to offer her a job with Kemal. Zera says that she already works for Emir, but Zehir says that she should at least listen to Kemal’s offer. She hangs up on him mid sentence.
Asu has just arrived at Emir’s office when she gets a call from Kemal. He asks her why she left home so fast (?). Asu tells him everything is ok and that she knows the situation is done already. Kemal is grateful for her understanding, then mentions that these things shouldn’t be spoken about over the phone. She agrees and asks if they will see each other later that night. He asks her to go with him to a restaurant. She accepts, then tells him she needs to go to work because she has several meetings. She hangs up on him and Galip apparently was sitting in the office the entire time. He says that he doesn’t understand what she sees in that murderer. Asu tells him that her uncle deeply trusted Kemal. Galip says that he’s sure Hakki wouldn’t have trusted Kemal if he had had any idea about who he really is. “If I were your father I’d do anything possible to get him out of your way,” he says. Asu gets a little nervous. Galip points out her anxiety, but she claims that she isn’t nervous at all. Galip says he knows she’s like this because of the things he just said about her fiancé. He exits the office and stops just outside the door to remember how a year ago he managed to corroborate that Asu is his daughter (by means of sending minions into her apartment while she slept, to retrieve a hair sample). Galip was somewhat satisfied at the thought. In the hallway he runs into Emir and lets him know that Asu is already waiting for him. Emir says he already knows and starts walking towards his office door when Zera comes to tell him about the auction that Kemal will be participating in today. Emir shows interest and wants Zera to find out within two hours why Kemal wants to make that particular purchase.
AMOR ETERNO
Emir enters his office and tells Asu that he wants half of all the shares she’s about to purchase. Asu calls him crazy because she’ll never let him get ahold of her company. Emir counters that they both know hay she has a weak hand. She threatens that she has the movie of his life in her hands. Emir stands unfazed and says that he forgot about that- they should watch it together sometime, then adds that Kemal will suffer the consequences if she doesn’t do as told. Asu starts breaking but claims she can’t do this because she can’t possibly offer Kemal a good explanation for it. Emir says that she can figure out the details later. He calls Zera so that she can bring the paperwork over. Tufan sees her going towards Emir’s office and asks her to hand over the documents. She does as told and walks away. Tufan reads the first page and worries when he sees that Asu is about to cede half of her rights over. He enters the office to give Emir the paperwork. Emir comments to Asu that so much curiosity will kill Tufan at some point and that he really should watch documentaries instead of novelas. Tufan quickly exits after that. Emir is getting ready to walk out when he leaves Asu his pen on top of the agreement. She looks at it all nervous and defeated.
The cousin is packing Vildan’s luggage and comments that what just happened will take a long time to get over (sassy complaining?) Vildan was playing with Denise, then comments to the girl that she looks nothing like Efsame.
Leyla and Nihan are talking in the patio. Nihan tells her that she beginning a new life, and that all of her secrets have ended. Leyla asks if she’s seen Kemal yet. Nihan says that she’s seen two times or so. Leyla asks if she hasn’t tired yet of making the same mistakes over and over again. She brings up that Kemal is alone, that she needs to stop confusing him and that with everything that’s happened to him he’s not the same person anymore. She adds: “you know that I love you both. You are my niece, but he’s my son. I think about him the same way I think about you. Your choices are destroying you and him too.” Nihan gets jealous and says “Leyla, you’re all about your son; in him you see nothing but goodness, yet in me you only see selfishness.” Leyla tries to brush that aside, but Nihan says “Do you want to know what your son asked of me?” Just then she notices the girl watching them. She finishes the conversation by asking Leyla to go ask Kemal herself what he did, then walks up to the girl and asks her how much she overhead. The girl says she heard everything, and Nihan tells her to forget about it all or else.
Kemal is driving when he gets a call from Leyla. She demands to speak with him as soon as possible. He agrees to go see her now.
AMOR ETERNO
Outside Leyla’s house, Nihan is holding Denise while the girl is complaining about having no help to pack the luggage into the car. Vildan comes and takes Denise; Nihan starts helping the girl put the luggage into the trunk, all the while commenting that the girl needs to concentrate more. The girl protests and claims that this would be child exploitation if she was any younger. Suddenly Vildan notices Kemal’s car coming up to them and she alerts Nihan. He drives up close to them, glares, then hastily drives away. Nihan did her best to ignore him, but when they all get into the car, Vildan asks if anything is wrong. Nihan snaps “How would I know?” She accidentally dials Emir and he overhears her say that Kemal probably wanted to see Leyla. Emir makes his presence kneeing and Nihan takes him off speaker. He tells her that Kemal is not to see the baby. Nihan feigns that she’s flirting with Emir. When she hangs up, Vildan asks again if everything is ok and Nihan claims that it’s just Emir being so demanding about Denise.
Kemal is mad and calls Leyla while he’s still driving.
“Why didn’t you tell me, Leyla?”
“About what?” She asks, still sitting in her living room.
“She went to see you and took her daughter with her”
“I didn’t think you’d be here that fast” she remarks.
Kemal hangs up. He pulls over near a playground and remembers having been there with Nihan before. He steps out of his car and walks inside. He looks at the swings and the slide. He remembers when he and Nihan were giving out ice cream to the children.
“Making children happy is such a nice feeling isn’t it?” She said.
“You’ll be an excellent mother” he said.
“No my love, if anything I’d be a demanding mother.”
“You’d be an excellent mother, our daughter will love you”
“Our daughter?” She asks, smiling.
“Yes our daughter. She’d be just like you.”
In the present, Kemal stares at the tree where they once had that conversation, and starts to tear up.
Zeynep has been rejected by a modeling agency (?). When she leaves the office, the manager calls Emir and says that he’s rejected her, just as he was told to do. Out in the street, Zeynep calls Emir to demand why he hasn’t been answering any of her calls, as well as to remind him that he has a huge debt with her. Emir comments that she’s currently being punished for having taken his daughter to her brother. Zeynep starts swearing that Kemal didn’t touch Denise. Emir retorts that just having him Kemal and Denise breathing the same air was bad enough. He warns that she will go be going through a difficult time for now. Zeynep gets so mad she yells in frustration and she drops her phone before Hakan. He greets her but she’s worried about her phone not working anymore and picks it up, asking him if he might be able to get it to work. He takes it but she loses her patience when he keeps doing small talk and so she takes her phone back. He tries to convince her to go for some coffee with him, with the excuse that he’ll fix her phone. She stands by the white car, uncertain if she should.
*****
Hello,
I find Efsame’s cousin annoying. I’m not sure where they’re going with her character, but she’s old enough to know what is and isn’t proper to say/do. I do think Nihan is being a little harsh at times, though.
Zeynep always looking for opportunities. Will she burn Hakan next? Why is he even following her?
When will Galip tell Asu that he knows the truth? They might actually bond.
Kemal is still out being the harsh version of himself. Will he end up regretting some of the things he’s said and done?
We kind of know what happened to Zehir and Zera! Finally he has a backstory.
I think Emir is planning to do to Kemal, what the latter did to him early on in the first season of the show? When Emir won at an auction and it turned out that Alacahan Holding partially owned those leases/businesses or something? And so both companies were forced to work together?
RINGO
Thanks, Rgv Chick. I hope you had as much fun writing the recap as I had reading it. I laughed all the way. Loved all the asides at Diego's expense.
My highlight was Guachin and Oso arguing who would take the Saran wrap off Rosa. Too funny.
Yep, Zorra takes lots of showers. She seems to be a butterfly moving from flower to flower. Looks like Rafa is wasting his time here.
Ringo is getting on my last nerve, but I'm still in his corner. He reminds me of a lovable friend who never takes my advice. I'm more reserved with Julia though, just gonna wait and see how far she'll go to put up with Diego.
How sweet of Oso to surprise Rosa with a visit from her daughter and mother. But I hope that little girl doesn't watch her mother's bout with Zorra.
Ringo Weinstein
Thanks much RGV. In what Bizzarro world does Julia not go to her Daddy and simply say: "Dad, nice guy that he is, you have to get rid of Ringo, he just will not leave me alone. I thought we could be friends, I was soooo wrong."
And WTF is wrong with Ringoon? Is Juls the only woman on earth? If she will do it FOR you, Ringo, she will do it TO you buddy boy. It is a double edged SWORD. Get him out of there until Julia finds out all Diablo's dirty deeds, then she can run crying and bawling to Ringo who will have probably started dating Brenda's shrink by then.
The only saving grace in the whole mess is that Diablo is such a dirty rotten jerk, and on top of that he IS being unfaithful with hot Guadalupe'.
Alejo: "Oh Brenda, what a nice drawing, who is driving the motorcycle"
"Oh, me, uh huh, and that's you, I suppose." "Why am I wearing RINGO's JACKET then?"
RINGO
Thank you, Jarifa, JudyB and Niecie.
I'm getting quite frustrated with Ringo and Julia too. So much for "If you ask me to leave, I'll disappear from your life forever." JudyB, "The writers have muffed this romance, making it hard for us to root for the protagonists." Nod, nod, nod.
I was expecting the writers to concentrate more on Ringo and Santi; it would make the story much more interesting and MAYBE Ringo would stop chasing after Julia every minute he gets a chance.
Oso is just a big cuddly bear that you want to hug. What a huge heart he has! I felt so bad for him when Rosa made it clear where her focus is. It's true that no one can have everything, but if you make the effort, you can enjoy all aspects of life if you just pace yourself. She could have at least given Oso some hope for the future.
Ringo
Oso and Squirrel both want to bury the same nut. Guachin is hilarious.
RINGO
Ahh, Kirby, I was writing while you posted.
I had to laugh at this "Alejo: "Oh Brenda, what a nice drawing, who is driving the motorcycle"
"Oh, me, uh huh, and that's you, I suppose." "Why am I wearing RINGO's JACKET then?"" So true! When will Alejo open his eyes and drop Loony Brenda like a hot potato?!
Gracias, RGVChick. Bien hecho.
Somehow I don't see Rosa taking a dive in the fight; La Zorra provokes her too much and she deserves to go down. I still fear for her for other reasons.
Although we're not at the halfway mark yet I'm also getting concerned about our protagonists' parents. Teresa is in denial about her arthritis and Ivan is still in denial about Brenda. Is there such a thing as civil commitment in Mexico?
:-)
So Turdo has already bought the house in US? Gloria lives in a million dollar two story already so he must be doing pretty good in boxing. I never knew small time boxers made that kind of money. So then why is he buying his clothes at Ricky Martin's garage sales?
Ringo
Well, Alejo stood out there and eavesdropped on Looney B telling her therapist about Ringo, did Alejo not connect the dots? Has he had too many punches to the head?
RINGO
Thank you, UA. even though she'll hate to do it, I think Rosa will take the dive...and only to keep Oso from getting into problems. She's a straight kinda girl and very loyal...a very likeable character.
Kirby, by golly, I think you got it! Too many punches to the head!
AMOR ETERNO
Thank you, AnonFri. I’m amazed at the detail of your recap, you seem to catch the smallest of details which I sometimes miss.
Though we know something of The Zehir-Zera connection, I am still curious about them. I remember that in Zehir’s flashback, Zera was very happy to see him until she realized that he had never been in prison as he had made her believe. So why did he disappear from her life? My inquiring mind would like to know.
I agree that Efsame’s cousin is annoying. Could she be Emir’s next conquest and slave?
RINGO
Rgv Chick, another exceptional recap. You captured all of the action perfectly! You made me laugh and your humor made this a joy to read...
Like Judy, I loved all your clever comments.
"Oso and Gauchin argue about who will take the saran wrap off of Rosa so she tells them she will take it off herself". I freely admit I love any scene they are in. Oso and Gauchin play off each other perfectly. Kirby, Gauchin brightens up every scene for me.
And from my favorite couple to two of my not so favorite couples, Julia and Diego: "She fights the urge to call him and then goes to Diego and caresses his forehead". Ack. Julia and Ringo: "When Julia asks that he request the transfer to avoid questions, Ringo refuses and will only leave if she runs him off". Sigh.
"Alejo advises Ringo to try to get along with Gloria since she will always be Santi’s mother". How can handsome hunk Alejo be so astute and perceptive with the exception of Brenda??? And did he really swallow the lie it was he on the motorcycle that Brenda painted? Really?
So this stuck in the muck situation with Julia and Ringo can't continue indefinitely. Can it?? Something has to change.
Rgv Chick, this was great. Thank you so much for your time and talent.
Diana
"Carrizo goes into the shower room and flirtingly asks Zorra (who must like to take lots of showers) if she needs help." Great comment! I also liked your Niecie,
"Yep, Zorra takes lots of showers. She seems to be a butterfly moving from flower to flower" which was spot on.
Oh and Jarifa, Carrizo has been leeching onto Turco since the beginning. He is a lackey. Period. Oh, and I am wondering if he lives with Gloria and Turco since they were all having breakfast? Perhaps he supposed to be a body guard as well. I'm not sure.
"She wants to make a deal-- if he forgets about the fire, she will forget that she warned him". Oh yes, that sounds reasonable Brenda. I'm sure Diego will take that deal.
RINGO
Sorry for the above. Signature should have gone at the end.
ETERNO AMORE
Is there anybody in this story that is not afraid of emir? Besides kemal?
And The people who don't really pay attention to him? What could he have possibly have told the people she was
Who was kemal goin to see at the cemetery? WHOES headstone he was gonna talk to?
No matter they wouldn't have heard anyways.
