La Doña2 - Episode 1 - Parte 1 de 2
As the episode opens, we see a young woman dressed only in her underwear running through the woods. She's terrified. She's being followed by someone in a big black car, clearly a Bad Guy. The guy gets out of the car, gun in hand. She pleads with him not to kill her. He shoots her.
The scene switches to Rio de Janeiro at Carnaval time. Huge crowds, seemingly thousands of people in costume, singing, dancing, etc. One person looks very familiar. Yup, it's La Doña, looking at the crowd through binoculars. It's not clear what/whom she's looking for. There's a guy with her. She tells him she doesn't like Carnaval. Too many people.
Scene shifts back to Mexico. Mónica is driving a car with her aunt Regina in the passenger seat. They're talking about the work Mónica is doing as president of the Fundación Renacer to combat violence against women. A red car is following them. Mónica lets it pass, but then it forces her car off the road. Mónica is slightly injured. The red car then drives away.
Mónica reports the incident to the police. She wants to contact Saúl Aguirre, her husband, but he hasn't been answering his phone. Mónica then contacts Karen (the police person from season 1) to ask for help in finding Saúl.
Still in Mexico, we see Carlos Ponce as a Mexican cop, Leon Contreras. He's chasing a guy, finally catches him, demands to know where "the boy" is. He dangles the guy he caught over the roof of a building, so the guy tells him where the boy is: in the trunk of a black car. They find the boy, still alive. Apparently the guy Carlos/Leon caught was involved in trafficking children.
Back in Rio, La Doña dresses in a sexy bird costume, dances in front of the guy (whose name may or may not be Navarrete) she's been watching with her binoculars, takes him by the hand and leads him to a private room. He thinks he's in for a hot night, but then she takes off her mask and pulls out her gun. In addition to being a drug dealer, he apparently took all her possessions that the police confiscated in Mexico. She shoots him in the shoulder and then uses his phone to text his associates, telling them to bring to him the money they'd just gotten for a drug deal (more than 2 million euros). La Doña tells him she's taking the money as a reminder of all the guy owes her. They bring the money, he takes it from them and closes the door. La Doña's people take it from him. His guys come back, a fight ensues, and his guys are wiped out.
It's reported on TV that Saúl Aguirre is missing. A bunch of people are sitting around watching the TV. They turn out to be relatives of the Monkeys that La Doña killed in season 1: Miguel Preciado, Colonel Céspedes, Rafael, and the banker whose name I can't remember. They want vengeance for what La Doña did to their beloved scumbags, and so they're intent on finding her.
The guy we saw La Doña with at the start, whose name is Thiago, tells her he loves her. She seems pretty fond of him as well. Matamoros, too, is still loyally serving La Soña. We see her in a plane. She tells Matamoros that she's going to go to Panama with the money she got from Navarrete. Suddenly, she gets a message on her phone informing her that someone tried to kill Mónica and that Saúl is missing. She tells the pilot there's been a change in plans. Matamoros tries to object, but La Doña tells him that her daughter is in danger and needs her.
La Doña2 - Episode 1 - Parte 2 de 2
We next see La Doña in a car. At one point, as the car passes some body of water, she flashes back to two years ago when she ran into the ocean to get away from the Mexican police. We see that she somehow managed to stay underwater for long enough to give the impression that she had drowned, but in fact she was making her way to where a boat was waiting. Someone, probably Matamoros, pulls her out of the water and resuscitates her.
The car approaches a police blockade. The police have photos of La Doña and orders to capture her. So, of course, her car simply races through the blockade. A chase ensues. Thiago has recommended that La Doña head for the favelas, the very poor, crowded neighborhood of hovels where the police are not welcome and where Thiago knows people who can be trusted. Sure enough, they manage to elude the police, and a bunch of tough guys with guns intimidates the police into leaving.
The scene switches to a prison, where we see Daniel Llamas washing a floor. He comes upon a news report of Saúl's being missing. He immediately contacts La Doña. Apparently he's been reporting to La Doña about Mónica with some frequency. He now tells her that Saúl is missing. "And Mónica?" asks La Doña. He tells her that there was an attempt on her life. La Doña is determined to go back to Mexico to help Mónica. Matamoros points out that the police will arrest her. "I'm not worried about the police," she tells him, "I'm worried abut Saúl and Mónica."
Leon is informed by his boss that he's now going to be in charge of finding the people who have been murdering young women, a gang known as los Arcoíris (the rainbow?), perhaps because they shoot paint balls at the young women they go on to kill, giving them false hope that this is just a game.
Mónica leaves her office and starts walking. She sees a suspicious-looking car and starts walking in the opposite directions. Oops, another car blocks her. The suspicious-looking car pulls up--and La Doña calls out "Mónica." Mónica is stunned, and then angry that just when she needed a mother, La Doña had her believe she was dead. La Doña explains, "I left you so that you could be with Saúl. If I hadn't heard about what happened, I wouldn't have come." They hug.
I'm not sure where the message came from, but Mónica gets a message on her phone showing where Saúl may be. It's in the forest. She and La Doña and some of La Doña's men go to try to locate Saúl. They don't know that Leon and Karen have decided to look in the forest as well. Mónica spots Saúl, naked, in a sitting position, next to a tree. She runs to him, only to find that his throat has been cut and he's dead (or, at least, that's the way it seems. One never knows). Leon and Karen come up behind them, guns drawn, announce their presence as police, and tell them to drop their guns. La Doña orders her men to drop their guns, she doesn't want to put Mónica at risk. They do so, as does she. Leon tells La Doña that he knows who she is and she's under arrest. He handcuffs her as the episode ends.
1.) RIP Saul Aguirre.
2.) Mommy Aguirre has lost her entire family: losing her husband & 2 kids.
3.) I see the relatives of the Monkeys are going to up the ante even further against Altagracia.
4.) Do NOT expect Monica to survive this week.
5.) Karen is back for Season 2.
6.) Carlos Ponce in the cast will be intriguing. I see Daniel (who's in prison) is in contact with Altagracia.
Dondi356: Congratulations to LSU on winning their 4th National Championship last night. I was NOT expecting a beatdown like that.
1.) Looks like Super Javi & Rutila are back on.... for now.
2.) Alejandra still in the hospital.
3.) Amado & Diana need a spin-off someday.
4.) Jaime still plotting chaos.
5.) Castillo stilp incompetent at his job.
6.) Refugee Chick's still HOT.
SpanProf, I too am a fan of Carlos Ponce. I even liked watching him in commercials! I especially enjoyed him in Silvana sin lana, which may have been the novela you were referring to.
It's hard to know what will happen to Mónica in La Doña2. It's possible she'll die, it's possible she won't. Just keep in mind that Steve frequently claims that such and such a character will die. Given that these are telenovelas, he's bound to be right some of the time. :-)
Juanita: Big question is whether Valeria & Lopez are in danger now that Braulio is still around ?
We know Daniel & Regina back for the 2nd Season.
Thank you very much, Juanita for a wonderfully clear and concise recap of the season 2 estreno. It was extremely helpful. Really enjoyed "beloved scumbags" I'm still laughing!
Welcome to La Doña 2: La Venganza! Lots of fast-moving details to sort out. I’m surprised they set things up so quickly. I had a bit of whiplash from the episode.
I was wondering if Altagracia really saw Los Monkys at Carnaval or if she imagined them.
How does Daniel keep tabs on Monica while he's in the slammer?
Steve, Monica said that Saul's mom died a year ago (off camera).
Add me to the Carlos Ponce fan list. That voice and those eyes...

MONICA BETTER NOT DIE!! KILL SAUL!!! IF YOU HAVE TO!!
Thanks very much, dondi and Halimacandy, for your comments.
dondi, I think that Altagracia saw some young guys together in a wild setting (Carnaval) and flashed back 20+ years to the Monkeys. I don't think she actually saw the Monkeys at the present-day Carnaval. Rather, it was like her seeing a body of water in the present causing her to flash back to her walking into the ocean to escape from the police 2+ years ago. This was useful for Viewerville, because her flashback gave us information we didn't have before, namely, how she managed to survive after walking into the ocean.
As for how an incarcerated Daniel keeps tabs on Mónica, I wondered the same thing. We saw how he learned about the present situation, but not how he can keep tabs almost daily. Perhaps, just as we have telenovela medicine (instant cures) and telenovela airlines (USA to Europe in under an hour), so there's a super efficient telenovela network with eyes everywhere that Daniel somehow has access to. (No, I don't really buy that, but it's the best I could do.)
Dondi356: DAMN! Sorry to find out about Mommy Aguirre dying. The entire Aguirre family is gone RIP SMH.
Dondi356: Things are getting crazier!
1.) Ojeda whacked the Spainard Girl in the bedroom by choking her to death & beating her too as well as other graphic stuff.
2.) Joaquin & Violeta are still alive..... for now!
3.) El Capo having a good time with prostitutes.
4.) Jaime & his campaign strategist googling eyeing OMG.
5.) Berenice still an IDIOT.
6.) Amado & Diana have argument over the umpteenth time LOL.
7.) Rutila obviously does NOT like or trust Alejandra.
8.) No Carla ?
9.) Refugee Chick's scared of creepy Valdes Crony.
10.) Refugee Chick's calling Ambar.
11.) Ambar sure loves to explore.
12.) Alejandra & Angela have a heart to heart talk.
Well, apparently no one else is stepping up to recap. I'll mention some events from last night's episode, but I will probably not offer another recap.
We see a guy exercising in what looks like a gym. It's Braulio, back from the dead! Since being hit by a car 2 years ago, he has apparently been aided by Alfonso Cabral, Rafael's father. Alfonso arranged for Braulio to be at the clinic, where he has been doing rehab. I was interested to see that Braulio knew that Saúl is dead. I'm not sure that that news had been made public at this point. Hmmm...
A grieving Mónica tells Regina that Altagracia (AG, from now on) is alive and is in police custody. Regina thinks Mónica is crazy.
In Rio de Janeiro, Triago (the guy in love with AG) tells another guy that AG needs money ASAP to pay off cops, judges, etc. The guy Triago talks to then gets arrested by the police.
In Mexico City, Leon's wife is worried that he'll be killed.
If we didn't already know, we see that Leon's boss, Vidal, is corrupt. He asks for 5 million euros/dollars/whatevers to delay transferring AG to prison.
Karen warns Leon to go easy on Navarette (the corrupt guy who took all AG's possessions after the police had confiscated them 2 years ago). Navarette has apparently already gotten Leon suspended once.
I think Navarette's son asks someone to dig up some dirt on Leon so they can screw him over. The guy investigates and reports that Leon is squeaky clean.
We see 3 young women who are "escorts." They complain to their supervisor/boss that their current customers make rather disgusting requests. The boss tells them to cater to the customers, especially since they're willing to pay extra.
AG is moved from jail to house arrest, a 7th floor carefully guarded apartment. She has to wear an ankle monitor. She's not pleased.
We see a guy who supposedly hung himself (was he the driver of the van?). A bag of paintballs is found nearby. It's apparently a set-up to make it seem as if the Arcoiris are involved.
The hacker who gave Saúl information calls his cell phone and says that the van driver wasn't involved in the murder. The hacker has evidence. Mónica, who has answered Saúl's phone, tells the hacker that she wants to get the evidence from the hacker in person. They arrange to meet. The hacker turns out to be a very fit young woman. She tells Mónica that Saúl is the only person who believed in her. She also tells Mónica that the Arcoiris are several guys, not just one. Some guys have been watching her meeting with Mónica and start to go after her. The hacker flees.
Navarette sends a bunch of thugs to kidnap AG from her house-arrest apartment. A security guard has lent AG his phone to call her daughter. While they talk, Mónica hears gunshots ring out over the phone. "Mamá?" she asks. The episode ends.
There's a lot I haven't said, and a lot I still am not sure about. I hope others will add to this.
SpanProf: Monica is all but DEAD! Altagracia has lost her only child SMH.
Juanita: The Body Count will be very high in Season 2.

9.) Sounds like Alejandra might be leaving town.
