Ep. 31. Part 1: I Don’t Like Spiders and Snakes…
Rosa teases Julia about dancing with Ringo. After Julia leaves, a man tells Julia she can’t park in that space since the space is reserved. Julia argues hat the street belongs to everyone. Another man comes and threatens that her car may not be there when she comes out. After she calls him a bully who takes advantage of women, he tells her that he is Machado…who is supposed to give her the vaccines she needs.
Rafa tells Oso that he wants to be a Villar. Oso turns on the tears as he thinks about how his own father would be so happy to have a grandson. They hug after Oso tells him that he has made him the happiest man in the world.
Machado tells Julia that he can’t give her the vaccines since the documentation doesn’t have the appropriate seal. Without the signature, he can’t give her anything. Julia pleads with him, but he tells her that she should have thought of that before she insulted him…although if she is really interested in getting the vaccines, she could make an “exerted effort”. Rosa interrupts and chides the man for being so forward. She demands that he apologize to Julia; and when Machado pushes her back, Rosa shows him her right fist…right up his nose! Atta girl, Rosa!!
Oso and Rafa meet with Manuel to see what they need to do so that Rafa can have his last name. Manuel explains the process which will be very simple especially since Rafa is of age.
On the phone, Julia complains to someone that Machado refused to give here the vaccine…and she will get it no matter what she has to do! As she complains, Ringo approaches and smiles as he enjoys watching Julia’s hissy fit. Julia then explains what happened to Ringo and tells him that she is going to get he vaccines even if she has to break in. When Ringo tells her that he will help her, Julia very gladly accepts his help.
Rosa sees Oso crying so he explains that he is going to be a father…Rafa agreed to take his last name and he is crying of happiness. Oso then proudly repeats Rafa’s new name--Rafael “El Osito” Villar! And we are graced once again with Cesar’s hearty laugh.
Inside the Garay house, Diego tells Brenda that he would like to kill her. He has put up with her for years, but no more! When Brenda asks what he is talking about, Diego retorts that she knows very well that she burned down his house…he is going to send her to jail! Elsa tries to defend Brenda, but Diego continues his rant and threatens to send her to the looney bin. Brenda runs outside yelling followed by Diego. Julia demands to know what is happening, so Brenda tells her that Diego has gone cray-cray…and Julia shouldn’t listen to him. Nothing will stop Diego’s rant and he keeps yelling that Brenda is crazy and will not keep quiet anymore. With all the yelling, JJ, the little dog, runs off and Brenda runs after him…and Ringo follows.
Rafa sees Zorra on the street and asks why she left. She tells him that next time, he should pick a more private place. Just then, Alejo passes by and Zorra wonders who he is. After he introduces himself and tells her he is an attorney, Zorra gives him a big flirty smile and tells him that one never knows when they will need a good attorney. As Alejo leaves, Rafa has to wave his hand to break Zorra’s stare, but Zorra brushes him off.
Out in the streets, Brenda cries to Ringo that they need to find her dog.
Ep. 31. Part 2: I Don’t Like Spiders and Snakes…
At the Garay house, Diego continues rant and rave about Brenda. Ivan enters and wonders what is happening so Diego tells him that he is tired of him trying to hide what is really happening. He then tells Julia that Brenda burned down their house…she is a pyromaniac! When Julia asks Ivan if it’s true, Ivan tells her that it has not be proven. Diego then tells Ivan that he listened in on his conversation with Manuel so he knows about the clothes. Diego warns him that if he covers up for Brenda, he will be her accomplice. After Diego states that he is going to call the cops, Ivan threatens that he’d better not touch Brenda and reminds Diego that he paid for the house; Diego only paid for the remodeling. Diego shouts to Julia that unless they accept that Brenda is crazy, they won’t get anywhere. Diego then gets a call and walks away. Julia tells Ivan that, though she is not in agreement with what Diego wants to do, she agrees that they have to do something about Brenda.
Out in the hall, Diego gets a call from Mancuso who tells him that Brenda is with Ringo; so, Diego tells him that if she gets in the way and gets hurt, it’ll be good since they will kill two birds with one stone.
Ringo and Brenda spot JJ but he runs off again. Ringo chases after it with Brenda following into a dead-end alley. Ringo then wonders why she named the dog J.J. She tells him not to be so flattered, she didn’t name the dog after him. As they continue to look for JJ, Mancuso shows up looking very menacing.
Alejo arrives at the Garay house and asks for Brenda. Brenda then walks in crying with JJ in arms. She tells Ivan about a couple of thugs that were after her, but Ringo defended her and they ran off. Once in the bedroom, Julia gives Brenda her pills as Brenda swears that nothing was her fault. Ivan assures her that no one is accusing her of anything. As Julia tends to her scrapes and bruises, Brenda howls like a wolf. She then smiles as she repeats that Ringo saved. She then recounts her twisted version of how Ringo defended her and fought of the thugs off. What he did was not an easy fight…he is a true hero. She never thought there would be anyone who would give their life for hers. Downstairs, Ringo gives Alejo the true version of what happened and how he fought off the thugs who showed up with sticks. Alejo asks if they took anything so Ringo tells him that he doesn’t think they were thieves; they may have been after Brenda. Diego thinks that it was a simple assault and since nothing serious happened, they should show blow it off.
Upstairs Brenda continues to add to her twisted version of what happened and tell Julia that the thugs had guns and they pointed it at her head. Ringo managed to take the gun from them and ran them off. After she passed out, Ringo kept pleading with her not to leave him. She then woke up and told him she loves him. Brenda doesn’t know what to do about Alejo since things have changed now. What happened to her and Ringo will unite them forever. Just then, Alejo knocks on the door, and Brenda gets nervous since she doesn’t know what to do. After Alejo enters, Brenda hugs him
Ivan thanks Ringo for saving Brenda’s life. He is very grateful since he has saved both his daughters from very dangerous situations. When Ivan asks what he can do for Ringo, Ringo replies that he can give him a raise. Julia then calls Ringo and asks how it feels to be a hero as she smiles. She tells Ringo everything Brenda said about him saving her. Ringo denies that he is Brenda’s hero; he is only Julia’s hero…her slave or whatever she wants him to be. Ringo then tells her that he still needs to go get the vaccines for her later that night. Julia insists on going with him, but he tells her it might be dangerous. Julia, however, is willing to take the risk,
Ep. 31. Part 3: I Don’t Like Spiders and Snakes…
Rosa finds her money can empty. When Oso comes by, Rosa tells him that Ruben stole her money…probably to go get drunk. She cries that she worked so much to earn that money so that she could bring over her daughter and her mother. Oso offers to give her the money, but Rosa refuses since he has his own problems and needs the money. Just then Ruben arrives and asks what Oso is doing there. Rosa asks Oso to leave but he refuses and chides Ruben for stealing Rosa’s money. Ruben counters that it’s his money too. When Oso calls him a miserable thief, Ruben tries to hit Oso, but Oso quickly grabs his arm and throws him on the bed as he twists his arm. As Ruben calls out to Rosa, Oso takes Rosa out and Ruben eventually passes out from his drunkenness.
Ringo and Julia enter the warehouse by climbing some pallets that are conveniently situated against the wall. Once inside, Ringo turns on his flashlight and can’t resist telling Julia that she looks beautiful. When he tells her that he is going to go look for the vaccines, Julia insists on going with hm. Crouching Ringo and Forbidden Julia seem to have found the vaccine, but then Julia spots a snake and jumps into Ringo’s arms. Ringo tells her not to move and to stay in his arms (how convenient!).
Osos takes Rosa to the cafeteria and tells Teresa that she can’t go back to her house right now. Oso explains to Teresa that Ruben arrived home very drink and aggressive.
Oso goes to see Mirta to see if she can help his student, Rosa, who is married to a scumbag who is also involved in drugs. The scene fads off as he continues to tell Mirta about Ruben.
At the warehouse, Julia is still holding on tight to Ringo who assures her that the snake is gone. Once they separate, Julia tells him that that she is deathly scared of snakes. Ringo wants to go look for the snake, but Julia thinks that should call the cops or fire department, but Ringo reminds her that they broke in.
Brenda calls Alejo and tells him that she and JJ are waiting for him; with everything that happened she needs him more than ever. When Alejo tells her that he has too much work, Brenda wants to go over to his place, but he tells her not to…he will be with her the next day. As they talk, the doorbell rings. So Alejo hangs up. He opens the door to find Zorra who invites herself in. When he asks her what she wants, she smiles and asks him, “Can’t you imagine?”
Oso goes back to Rosa’s place and grabs Ruben in a hammer lock. He warns Ruben to stay away from Rosa or he will regret it for the rest of his life. When Ruben retorts that he doesn’t know who he is dealing with, Oso hisses that he knows very well that he is a filthy rat who steals hard-earned money from his wife…and sells drugs. Oso also knows that Remigio is his supplier. Oso then tells Ruben that he has a video tape of him and Remigio, so he’d better leave and forget about Rosa and his daughter. After Oso leaves, Ruben calls someone and tells them that he needs their help to get rid of a guy.
Rgv Chick, you hit it out of the park with “I Don’t Like Spiders and Snakes…”. Could not have been more fitting! Your detailing is simply superb and you conveyed all the emotions and events perfectly.
Marvelous retelling of an episode that packed a punch (so to speak 😊) “when Machado pushes her back, Rosa shows him her right fist…right up his nose! Atta girl, Rosa!!”. Resounding cheers all the way around!
“Oso then proudly repeats Rafa’s new name--Rafael “El Osito” Villar! And we are graced once again with Cesar’s hearty laugh”. Lovely retalling. Rafa has a sweet, lopsided grin and Oso’s laugh is music to the ears! From everything I’m seeing, Cesar seems to bring out the best in the actors around him. The chemistry, the synergy is palpable.
“Diego tells him that if she gets in the way and gets hurt, it’ll be good since they will kill two birds with one stone”. The Snidely Whiplash mustache is in full twirling mode. A murderer in the making.
“As Alejo leaves, Rafa has to wave his hand to break Zorra’s stare, but Zorra brushes him off.” Best line of the night was Zorra calling Rafa Peter Pan! While Rafa is very nice looking IMHO he can’t quite match Alejo’s lure – he is a handsome, sexy man. I can’t say I blame her - and I’m for anyone getting him off Brenda’s scent. So, “When he asks her what she wants, she smiles and asks him, “Can’t you imagine?” No MENSA membership necessary to understand that! I say, go for it Alejo!
“She then woke up and told him she loves him. Brenda doesn’t know what to do about Alejo since things have changed now. What happened to her and Ringo will unite them forever”. Although Brenda is clearly mentally ill, I am having a very hard time being sympathetic but I certainly hope Julia and Ivan insist on getting her the help she needs.
“Ringo denies that he is Brenda’s hero; he is only Julia’s hero…her slave or whatever she wants him to be”. Hmmm. I have to say I was more focused on how Julia ever managed to scale the wall in those 4 inch heels and then if that snake was going to strike. This romance just isn’t terribly important as there are so many other wonderful characters who really taking center stage.
Rgv Chick, exceptional. Once again. Thank you!
Diana
Diana, I smiled again with your “ . . . episode that packed a punch”. Yes, it was a very good good episode!
Another yes! To ‘ “Osito Villar” is the name of a champ!’ Another heartwarming scene.
I enjoyed seeing Brenda’s versions of Ringo’s defense from the thugs and the actual event. That was more creative than I expected. Also, Ringo noticed that Diego minimized the seriousness of the attack. Hmmm . . .
As for Diego’s rantings, maybe it took all that so that Iván will finally face the “Brenda problem” but I didn’t care for his cavalier comment to Thugs, Inc. that if she got hurt she got hurt (this episode? or was it in the last?) in the attack on Ringo.
At least Ringo got a pay raise.
Let us hope Oso doesn't get blindsided by Rubén revenge.
Julia’s idea for stealing the vaccines is stupid plain and simple and sounds like something Brenda would cook up. Harebrained. I wish I liked the protagonists more, but I don’t. : ( Lucky for me the supporting cast is as strong as it is.
Hmmm...I've got a culture gap here, don't know the song I Don't Like Spiders and Snakes, but I'll have to look it up! Diego is a leech and a swine, but I can't help but sympathize with his fury at having a pyromaniac sister-in-law who burned down his house. There's nothing in the character of Brenda that makes her appealing or worthy of compassion, in my view anyway. Her craziness is totally self-serving and ranges from malicious to outright evil.
On the other hand there's our dear Oso and feisty Rosa. I did love this description:
She demands that he apologize to Julia; and when Machado pushes her back, Rosa shows him her right fist…right up his nose! Atta girl, Rosa!!
Rosa is everything that Brenda is not. Hard-working. Willing to make it on her own. Loyal. (to a fault, we might say) Straightforward. Honest.
As for our two protagonists, like Jarifa, I wish I could like them more. Will have to rely on the rest of the cast. The blame falls to the writers, however. Not the actors.
Thanks Rgv Chick. I'm taking a break from watching this, but would not miss a single fine recap from my Tag Team of Diana and you.
Season 2 #118
(1)
Kemal received the message and writes “Block it so that they can’t buy off the judge.” He sends it back out with the food tray. The days continue to pass and he continues etching a tally on the wall. Eventually he lays on the floor to rest.
Emir is being interviewed in his office about his personal life. He states that Nihan hasn’t come back to Istanbul because she was going through a tough time and he decided to respect her decision, especially because he wants her to be far away from his enemies. The lady brings up that Kemal’s trial will be tomorrow, and she asks if Emir will use his influences to make sure Kemal stays in prison. Emir claims “The only weapon I have is my faith in justice and that is enough.” She asks “When would Nihan come back?” Emir says “Tomorrow.”
Nihan is in England with her daughter. She’s telling her that she will leave her alone for a few hours with the babysitter. When she hands her over, she can’t seem to part from her daughter until the babysitter warns her that she’ll be late again. Nihan rushes out the door.
Kemal is being led out of the cells by two men. “Where are you going with him?” A third guard asks. “I still haven’t gotten him to kiss the floor that I’m stepping on.” One of the guards puts his hand on Kemal’s back. Kemal tries not to react, but ends up head butting him. He says “The party hasn’t begun. The best part is happening tomorrow, you can count on that.”
Kemal stares at the director of visitors (?), who walks away after a final stare down back.
Nihan comes home but gets alarmed when she can’t find Denise or the babysitter anywhere. She starts panicking when she gets a phone call from Vildan who happily asks “Did you plan to give me a surprise? I saw in the news that you’re coming back tomorrow. Did you reconcile with Emir?” Nihan hangs up to call Emir, who rejects the call. She leaves a voice message: “I know that you have my daughter! I will leave on the first flight and get her back!”
Nihan calls again, this time in a taxi in Istanbul. Emir finally answers and asks if she will come to visit him immediately. When they hang up, he goes to take several pain killers. He sits down in his office.
It’s night and Nihan arrives at Kozcouglu Holding. She goes straight for Emir’s office and immediately demands to know where her daughter is. “You’ve forgotten your manners in the time you’ve been out of the country.” Nihan stands very close to his face and demands to know where Denise is. He mentions that Nihan’s temperament changed now that she’s a mother. Nihan is losing her patience and starts threatening him, but he’s unmoved.
“It’s like you don’t recognize me Nihan, I wouldn’t hurt a fly.” He says.
“Don’t call her that!”
“She’s my daughter too” he taunts.
“Don’t you call her that.”
“But she is.”
“If you try to hurt my daughter, I’ll kill you. Did you hear that, Emir?” She curses him as she walks out of the office.
Soon Nihan is at the precinct trying to file a report against Emir. The officer says he can’t do anything because the baby went missing in London, and Emir didn’t even leave the country. Nihan retorts that Emir doesn’t have to do anything because he has people to do things for him. He pushes her comments aside and says he doesn’t believe that. Nihan is adamant that her child is in Istanbul but the guard is still nonchalant. She starts asking if Emir paid him off too. The officer takes offense and tells her to calm down or he’ll have to take her into custody. When she doesn’t calm down he locks her up in a dark cell and she’s yelling to be freed. Emir eventually shows up to taunt her.
“You can’t buy everyone off. I won’t return to that house!” She yells.
“Of course I can” Emir calmly says.
“No, no! I won’t!” She yells, hitting the rails.
“We’ll raise our daughter in the house you grew up in.”
Nihan is released and she walks away from Emir, defiantly yelling “I won’t return to that house!”
Kemal is seen in a cell, looking at his infiniti tattoo.
(2)
Nihan is at her parents’ home, pouring gasoline on the living room couches. She remembers Ozan begging for help, Kemal telling her that he’d protect her, Emir claiming her as his property. She continues pouring gasoline in the living room and eventually pours some by the front door and onto the patio. She flicks a lighter and drops it. Everything goes ablaze and she stands there, tearing up. She watches her home burn up and then walks away from it.
Efsame sees Nihan walking down the road and she grabs her, asking if she’s ok. Nihan swats her hand off and continues walking until Emir drives up to her.
“What did you do?” He demands.
“We don’t have a house anymore. I set it ablaze.”
“I’ll buy a new one.”
“If you don’t return my daughter I’ll burn that house down with you in it.”
“If anything happens to me, you’ll lose your daughter. It’s your decision. You control her life.”
“I will get her back.”
“Only if I give her to you. No one can help you, but me.”
The next day Kemal is at court and is finally exonerated. Fehime, Hussein, Asu and Zehir rejoice.
Nihan is driving to the prison. When she arrives, she waits in her car. She starts thinking: “My heart, I know what the mistake was. Your beat wasn’t for me, it was for other to continue living. You’ll go through the same path and make the same mistakes. You’ll stand only to fall again, because you need to remain alive so that others can do the same.”
Kemal’s parents, Asu and Zehir are awaiting outside of the prison gates when Kemal walks out. The guard says that he’s happy for him, and Kemal thanks him. A few more steps and Kemal hugs his mother and father.
“I’m so happy,” Hussein says.
“Everything has ended, father.”
“Yes, fortunately” Leyla says.
Kemal hugs Zehir, who calls him boss.
He looks at Asu and says “Don’t cry anymore. It’s over.” They hug.
Nihan watches them. She’s still thinking: “I died once, but was reborn with my daughter. Have you ever been put to the test with your child’s life? What would you do if your worst enemy had her hiding somewhere? Would you give up or go back to the place you started from despite your pride and frustration?” She starts to approach Kemal.
Fehime notices her first and tells everyone that they need to get out of the area fast. Kemal tells her that they should all go without him, he will catch up later. Fehime wants him to go with them now. Leyla sees her niece and says “Nihan?” Everyone stops and looks. Kemal is looking overconfident when he sets his gaze on her. “If you were smart enough you wouldn’t talk to her” Fehime indignantly says. He doesn’t listen and starts walking towards Nihan. Asu looks uncomfortable and upset.
Nihan stops walking when her phone rings because she’s thinking of whether to answer it. Meanwhile, Hakan appears and sidetracks Kemal. Zehir loudly asks what he wants and walks next to the boss. Hakan gives Kemal his number so that they can discuss a few things.
“What do you know that I don’t?” Kemal asks rhetorically.
“We can discuss that.”
Nihan accepts a phone call from Emir: “If you tell him anything, you won’t see your daughter again. Remember what you have to lose and don’t hurt our daughter.”
Leyla soon appears before her and starts scolding her: “Why are you here? What are you planning to do? You have no right to be here. Go home.”
Nihan is rendered speechless.
Leyla continues to meddle: “Stop making Kemal suffer. Get back in your car and go back to where you came from.”
“You’re right,” Nihan finally says. She drives away and calls Emir to demand her daughter’s whereabouts. He says she’s with her father, but the mother doesn’t want to be with her. He calls it a tragedy, and tells Nihan that he’s close by.
(3)
Asu interrupts and asks Kemal if they can leave now, because his parents are getting nervous. He agrees with her and heads to the line-up of cars. Asu gets into a van with the Soydere parents, and asks Leyla if she’s coming with them. Leyla says that she will see them in the evening and she continues walking to Kemal’s black car. She gets in the backseat when Kemal coldly says “Let us go alone, Leyla.” She responds with “You just drive and I’ll get off along the way.” After a while, she asks if they can go somewhere to eat. Kemal says that he’s not hungry. She asks Zehir for his opinion, and he says he wants whatever the boss wants. She concedes and shortly asks Kemal to drop her off on the road now. He wants to take her home, but she says that she doesn’t want to interrupt his day. He does as told, and she stares as the car drives off.
“And what do you make of it, boss?” Zehir asks.
“About what?”
“Nihan.”
“I don’t care about that.”
“About her or the fact that she was there today?”
“Today is my lucky day. Nihan Kozcouglu came to me first. This should make it easy.”
“We still don’t know why she left.”
“We’ll figure it out, we just need to find the first clue.”
Nihan drives up a hill to Emir, almost running him over but barely restraining herself at the last minute. He says “Finally you understand that you can’t finish me off, my dear. And Kemal is so weak...you’ll have to repeat your exam.” He gets into the car and orders her to drive. She remains quiet and soon they arrive at the seaport. He exits the car and says “Is it my fault you didn’t give him the good news?”
“One day you won’t be able to threaten me. What will you do then?” She says.
Emir turns it all around and says that she came back by choice. Nihan exits the car and confronts Emir. “You separated me from my daughter!”
“You took my daughter away from me!”
“Denise isn’t your daughter!”
“Don’t say that again! Be careful. The truth can destroy the whole world and we’d all burn in hell. Even Kemal won’t be able to save you then.”
Nihan swears she didn’t visit Kemal to ask him for help. Emir claims he doesn’t believe her because he knows her so well.
“This time I won’t be your victim!” She shouts.
“If you try to lie to me one more time, you’ll pay for it so badly you’d wish you died.”
“I hate you.”
“If you think that you alone can rescue your daughter, go ahead. But if you involve Kemal, it’s at your risk.”
“I’ll get my daughter back.”
“You’ll decide how to pass your test. I’ll just accordingly to what you choose. I won’t stop you, you can do whatever you want and see whoever you want or keep things hidden from me. Just hope that I never find out. Everyone’s destiny is in your hands, including your daughter’s, who only has three lives and you’ve already wasted one. Be careful what you do.”
In a foyer to what looks like a big white mansion, Zeynep is anxiously pacing around and thinking about the time when Kemal discovered her betrayal. Tariq calls and asks “Have you spoken to my parents?”
“No not yet”
“He’s probably been released already.”
“I think so.”
“Where are you now?”
She tells him that she’s working and he asks if she needs any money. She accepts the offer and hangs up. It turns out that despicable Zeynep is taking care of Denise. She picks her up and looks her in the eye. “Do you feel better? Don’t look at me like that. I don’t have any problems with you, when in reality I like you because you’re Emir’s daughter. You should be my daughter, and not Nihan’s.”
(4)
When Tariq hangs up he asks Banu to lend him some money. Banu gets frustrated and hands Tariq a bill. She mentions that they need to find a way to pay off their debt. Tariq brushes it off, saying he’ll get to it eventually.
“I know I’ve made a mistake, I wanted more than I could have...” He says.
“Maybe it’s time I get a job,” Banu suggests.
“What job? You’ve looked for three months already.”
When she suggests that she go back to work with Emir, he gets mad and says that his parents never accepted their marriage, and he doesn’t need Kemal to keep bothering him about it. She asks if Kemal is what has him worried. He says that he knows his brother won’t stop until he investigates everything and he hopes that he doesn’t bring him problems.
Nihan asks Emir what he would have done is she had told Kemal the truth. He claims that he actually doesn’t know, beyond the fact that he’d taunt Kemal with Denise’s whereabouts. “You are a degenerate” Nihan says. Emir then describes how Deniz will pass from hand to hand and will eventually end up in an adoption center.
Nihan slams her car door and yells again at him: “You’d dare put my daughter up for adoption?”
“Don’t worry. I know how much you’re worried about her future so I’ll send her off to get educated outside of the country.”
“F*** psychopath.” She gets into her car and drives away without him.
Zehir asks Kemal what he thinks about the new location he found. Kemal says that they’ve lost a lot of time, but he knows what they need to do now. Zehir asks if he’s sure about that. Kemal says “If I make the same mistakes again Zehir, I wouldn’t have learned the lesson.” He asks Zehir is the prosecutor is still working, and Zehir says that Emir fired him due to misinformation, which was why they lost the litigation (Kemal’s trial?). Kemal asks “What about our guy?” Zehir says that the process will finalize today, and their guy will be in tomorrow. They look at various passport size photos of men.
Galip and Emir are at the office. Galip comments that he knows what his son’s choice is already, but Emir claims he wants to get someone who’s more than a lawyer. A lady and a man walk into the room. Emir asks which one of them would like to taint their hands for Emir Kozcouglu. They both reply that they’d have no problem doing it. Galip ends up hiring the lady.
The male lawyer walks out of the building and calls Zehir, who asks if he was hired. The man reports that he wasn’t chosen because they hired “Zera Toscano” instead. Zehir stiffens at the name and tells Kemal that they have a small problem he has to resolve. “Are you nervous?” Kemal asks.
Hello,
I’m not sure Zeynep really needs Tariq’s money. For all we know, this whole time she was likely being Emir’s lover. Also, you’d think she would have felt the call of the blood or something, but instead she likes Denise because she’s Emir’s daughter. She’s as dumb as ever.
I felt so annoyed when Leyla became authoritative and started chastising Nihan. She knows from last season that Nihan went back to Emir because she was blackmailed, but she doesn’t divulge the information to Kemal. Then she has the nerve to stop Kemal from following Nihan? They both forgot that Nihan tried to visit Kemal when he was in jail. She obviously has something important to say.
Tariq is ridiculous, how is it that he asks Banu for money when she doesn’t work? I thought Emir paid him well. Notice that both of Kemal’s siblings would prefer that he rot in jail than rat them both out for the trash that they are.
Can’t say I wasn’t surprised that Emir quickly got ahold of Denise. I will say that I’m getting tired of his games, and Nihan’s inability to foresee that this day was coming. Nina, Nihan doesn’t realize that her punishing Kemal involves Emir punishing her too. She always digs herself deep into a trench and can’t get herself back out.
Just letting everyone know that I’ll be posting recaps on M/W/F starting next week. It’s very hard to do it everyday. This new time is better because I feel settled in when I watch it, but at the same time it’s so close to bedtime! Can’t win them all.
RGV Chick, sure if you’d like to. I’m from the NY Tri-state area. I trust your judgment regarding the picture, I’ve enjoyed writing since forever lol. Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you!

I remember the song. It was by a country singer ...Roger Somebody. He put out several quirky songs . I was a rock and roll , soul, and R &B girl..not so much country .
Well, the youtube version of this is a hoot and it generated a lot of nostalgic comments for the seventies and the music from that decade. Thanks RGV CHIC, te debo una!
Well, thank you, Diana, Jarifa, and Judy! While I agree that the protags are not the most interesting or likeable (other than seeing Jose R shirtless :-), the rest of the cast sure is making it up for it.
Diana, "an episode that packed a punch" Niiice! There seems to be a lot of good punches given to the bad guys, don't there? and didn't you just luuurve watching Oso take down the dastardly drunk, pathetic Ruben? I sure did! But I do fear for Oso, though I'm hoping Ringo and Alejo are around whenever an attempt is made on him. Those 3 together would make mincemeat of all of them. AND "The Snidely Whiplash mustache is in full twirling mode. A murderer in the making." I cracked up with this...OMG, sidebar worthy!!
Jarifa, Diego is just plain evil. I'm not condoning anything Brenda has done, but she does have severe psychological problems that haven't been addressed; so that comment about killing two birds with one stone was cruel and heartless.
JudyB, I'm so glad you are keeping up with this; it is a much better (clean) TN than we have seen in quite some time. And, of course, I love seeing you in the patio! Glad you enjoyed the song on Youtube. I had been waiting so long for an episode where I could use that title..and I'm still waiting for another so I can use "A Horse With No Name." The 70s sure had some interesting songs! LOL
Susanlynn, Kenny Rogers sang "Behind Closed Doors;" Jim Stafford sang "Spiders and Snakes." I sure miss the 70s!!
Thanks, Rgv Chick. Your coverage of Rosa popping Machado a good one was fabulous.
Oso saying Rafa’s new name was too cute. Loved it.
The fight scenes were a hoot. Especially in Brenda's fantasy version, you could see the thugs jumping back as if hit, a moment before they actually got punched by Ringo. I'm guessing the actors had a ball doing those scenes.
I like the chemistry between Julia and Ringo, but it's too bad they're in an endless rinse and repeat cycle.
So both Diego and Ruben have thugs for hire on speed dial.
AnonFri, you really outdid yourself with this recap and that is not an easy task. Your descriptions and dialogue are unbelievable...EXCELLENT!!
Is Zeynep a glutton for punishment or just plain stupid? I can't believe she is still with Emir! She is still working for Emir, so I highly doubt she is in need of money. And I think Tariq is no longer with Emir and trying to make it with an honest job; I haven't watched him long enough, so I may be completely wrong.
I didn't like Leyla interfering with Nihan and Kemal either. And why was she so intent on going with Kemal and Tariq? That didn't make sense to me.
My heart went out to Nihan. She may have dug her own hole, but losing her baby to the likes of Emir is SCARY! I din't think she should have told Emir that he wasn't the father. MAYBE he wouldn't hurt the baby if he suspected it was his child, but now that Nihan has told him that it's not his, the baby is in danger for sure.
AnonFri, I completely understand that you need to cut down on the recaps. We really appreciate all that you give us. THANK YOU!
Gracias, RGVChick, bien hecho!
The most frustrating thing about this series is Ivan's denial about Brenda being mentally ill. As much as Diego is the Snidely Whiplash of this series he is completely right about her. She is dangerous to self and society. She has not previously taken her meds. She burned down a house (which I hope was insured). She tells manipulative and destructive lies. Did anyone catch her facial expressions in her recent interactions with Ringo (stupid nick if you ask me)? While she didn't set up the fight she can think fast enough to figure out how to take advantage of such a situation. I wish Julia would be smart enough to kick her all the way to Chiapas and back.
Alejo needs to wake up about her, too.
Three cheers for Rosa standing up for herself in that ugly situation.
La Zorra was right about Rafa not quite being grown up yet, but good for him for wanting to break free from Mama's control. And he will be gorgeous when he's a little more mature.
Thanks, Niecie and UA!
Niecie, I agree that there is chemistry between Ringo and Julia, but the fact that they are treading on morally questionable waters puts a damper on their relationship. I really hope that a divorce is soon in coming; that would boost their popularity.
UA, Ivan's denial IS frustrating; and what is even more frustrating is that he is finally (somewhat) admitting that Brenda has a problem and still refuses to get her the help she needs. He is finding ways to "protect" her when what he is actually doing is the exact opposite.
About Diego. Divorcing him would give him an opportunity to mount a defense. Messy, drawn out for months. Send over Ishiro, and Julia and Ringo can be together before nightfall.
Emir obviously had somebody watching
Nihan. And kemal leaving the prison.
He knew she'd run to kemal with the news of Denise being his.(It's strange
Hearing your name called on tv).Found
Out something about the way Denise is
Spelled in turkey, "Deniz" the "z" is
Heard and not the "s". Last night in the CCs they spelled it "Deniz". Good
To know.
Nihan is her own Worst enemy. She just
Treated kemal really bad, and now she
Runs to him for help. All those times
He tried to help her, she got the hebe
Gebes and went back to puckerpuss.
I really hate seeing emir get the uper
All the time. That needs to change.
That visitor guy that's in charge of visitors I guess, he yanks leyla's chains. I like The way he smiled and smirked when he walked away after Kem
Head butted that annoying little twerp
Ok now if tariq has no money how he is
Gonna give that lying useless sister
Something he don't have. Banu just as
Broke as he is. What did she give him?
$5.00?
Tariq,I know I made a mistake I wanted more than I could have.... he says. He was jealous of kemal ever since he came back to town dressed in those very expensive suits. Then he goes and joins emir's demon pack and emir Gives
Jim a chip suit and an economy car and
He has arrived. Stupid tariq.
And speakin of useless, where does she
Get off tellin Denise she should be hers Abd not nihan's. That's her niece and when Daddy kemal finds out she won't come near his child. She is one sick biddy.
Nep, "I like you because you're emir's
Daughter". So When she finds out She's
Kemal's Daughter she won't like her?
Stupid useless lair. Emir already knew
The baby wasn't his that's why he told the Dr to tell her the test came back
Negative.
Whatsup with auntie Leyla? Why she won't tell kemal what's really going
On? Maybe she knows kemal would kill emir.
Thank you for these recaps AnonFri.
I really appreciate them from all of you ladies.
Ep. 32, Part 1: Confession of a Dangerous Mind
Brenda talks to JJ about Alejo; she thinks he doesn’t care about her anymore. Diego enters insulting her before telling her that her father and sister may forgive all her crazy acts, but he is going to make sure she goes to jail. Brenda doesn’t know what he has against her since she has done nothing against him. They are interrupted by Turco who enters needing to talk to Diego about the Mother’s Day commercial he is supposed to do. He doesn’t want to do it. After Diego warns him that they can fine him for breach of contract, Turco argues that he just can’t say what they want him to say because of his past with his mother. Diego yells at him that he shouldn’t be so childish…he HAS to make the commercial and say the damned script as it is. After Turco storms off, Carrizo assures Diego that he will help Turco and he will do fine. Diego calls Julia who is still at the warehouse, but she doesn’t answer. Ivan then enters, so Diego tells him about Turco not wanting to do the commercial. Ivan, however, wants to talk to him in his office…NOW!
Brenda thinks that Alejo is cheating on her and decides to go to his place.
At the warehouse, Julia and Ringo are on their way out when Machuca arrives and demands to know what they are doing there, Ringo turns the tables on him and tells him that he found all the animals he has and knows that he is into animal trafficking. Machuca wants to make a deal and asks how much they want to keep their mouths shut. As Julia and Ringo turn away and pretend to discuss it, Ringo is texting the cops. Julia then tells Machuca that they want a million pesos.
Ivan tells Diego that he knows he hired a lawyer to report Brenda. When Ivan mentions that he has no evidence, Diego assures him that he does have evidence since he overheard Ivan’s discussion with Manuel. Diego didn’t want to come to this, but if Ivan and Julia don’t want to stop Benda, he will. Ivan then wants to make a deal; he will give Diego a large part of his shares of the beer factory if he agrees not to report Brenda. Diego gets dollar signs in his eyes and asks how much he is talking about.
Julia continues to stall Machuca with her offer until the cops arrive.
Ruben and Oso have a confrontation, but Ruben has brought his friend with him and takes out a blade!! He slashes Oso arm (oh noes!!) and warns him to stay away from married women. Rafa enters and Oso tells him to leave, but Rafa insists on staying. When the sidekick comes at Oso with is blade, Rafa charges at him while Oso fights off Ruben. The police chief then appears and arrests Ruben and his buddy for attempted murder.
At the warehouse, the cops are arresting Machuca as they also ask Julia to prove that the box of vaccines she is taking is actually hers. One of the cops asks to take a picture with Ringo while the other confirms that the vaccines belong to Julia; they are then released.
At the cafeteria, Teresa tells Rosa that Oso asked her to keep her there for a while. He is doing something to make sure Ruben doesn’t bother her again.
Ringo and Julia arrive at the cafeteria; so Tere tells them that they are waiting for Oso. Ringo calls him and when Oso tells him what happened, the amoeba clan rushes over to his place.
Ep. 32, Part 2: Confession of a Dangerous Mind
Brenda arrives at Alejo’s and asks who was at the door when she was talking to him on the phone. Alejo lies and tells her it was a neighbor. Brenda wants to stay since she is feeling lonely; she will wait for him in bed…nude, since she didn’t bring pjs.
At Oso’s place, Rosa tells Oso that he didn’t have to do anything. After Oso tells her that Ruben will never bother her again and will spend many years behind bars, Rosa asks why he did it; so, he tells her that she knows very well why he did it. Outside, Julia and Ringo comment about what Oso did for Rosa. Ringo reminds her that he does the same for her. After they tease each other, Ringo shouts that there is a rat and grabs her. Once she knows he was kidding, she thanks him for everything he does for her. When he asks what she would do for him, she wonders what he has in mind; so, Ringo tells her that he wants them to spend an entire day together. She tells him she will think about it and leaves.
Turco is getting ready to do the commercial. The director introduces him to the lady that will play his mother, then gives him some instructions. They start taping but when the director yells “action”, Turd just stands there. They try taping again, but the director is dissatisfied with Turco’s performance and tells Turco that he needs to be more natural.
Oso arrives at the gym and asks to talk to Rosa. He gives her an envelope of money so that she can bring over her daughter and mother, but Rosa refuses since he has already done so much for her…and she also has the money coming to her for her match with La Zorra. After Oso leaves, Gauchin enters and asks Rosa why she didn’t accept the money, so Rosa explains that it wouldn’t have been right.
Alejo and Ringo discuss the rematch between Ringo and Turco. Afterwards, Ringo ask him how it’s going with the street fights; and Alejo explains that he needs the money. They then talk about the attack on Ringo and Brenda. Alejo wonders if they wanted to kidnap Brenda, but Ringo points out that they could have easily taken Brenda since it was three guys against him…but they didn’t take Brenda. Ringo again tries to warn Alejo that Brenda is not right in the head. Alejo tells him that since he met Brenda he has been faithful to her. As he tells Ringo about La Zorra showing up at his place, Rafa enters and overhears. Just then the school calls Ringo because Gloria hasn’t shown up for Santi; so, he rushes out. Alejo assures Rafa that nothing happened with Zorra; she is all his (Rafa’s).
At the taping, Turco says his lines, but then starts crying because he just can’t say what they want him to say. He runs off with Carrizo chasing after him.
Ringo takes Santi to Gloria’s house. Santi is upset because his mother didn’t show up for him. He misses his grandmother’s cooking and ask that Ringo take him to the club, but Ringo tells him he can go some other day. Gloria comes out and tells Ringo that she forgot Santi was getting out early. Gloria tries to apologize and explains that it doesn’t happen often, but Ringo reminds her that this should never happen and Santi should be the most important thing in her life.
Ep. 32, Part 3: Confession of a Dangerous Mind
Julia enters Brenda’s bedroom. Brenda still doesn’t know what to do about Alejo who is so sweet; Brenda just doesn’t know how to tell him about her and Ringo. Julia, however, is there to ask if Brenda actually set her house on fire. Brenda tries to change the subject and tells Julia that she is being selfish, but Julia is adamant and asks her again if she started the fire…there are witness and evidence, but she wants to hear Brenda admit it. Brenda cries and swears that she didn’t mean to do anything bad. She went to Julia’s house just to see it but when she saw how nice it was and imagined how happy Julia would be, she didn’t know what happened; she got nervous. She couldn’t resist her obsession with fire and had to do it. Julia feels stupid for defending her against everyone. Brenda insists that she didn’t know how she did it; it is all a blur. Julia can’t believe Brenda could do this to her.; nothing can justify it…not even her condition. Brenda tells Julia that she should ask what brought her to do this. Julia cries that she is tired of her craziness and taking care of her. When Julia asks why she did it. Brenda admits that she hates her, she can’t stand her perfect life or that she is everyone’s favorite. And now they don’t even have where to live; he now knows how it feels to have nothing. Julia has always been the favorite, the pretty one, the intelligent one, the one who everyone likes. Ever since she was a child, Brenda would watch her sleep and Brenda would dream that Julia would never wake up. Julia cries that Brenda is very sick and walks out.
At the cafeteria, the men pay Rosa for their meals and add a huge tip. Rosa thinks Oso is behind it and calls him on it, but Oso denies having said anything to the men. Rosa agrees to keep the money but wants to share the tips with Tere and Pepe; Tere, however refuses. Rosa finally concedes and hugs Oso.
At the taping, Turco tries again to complete the commercial, but when he comes to the last line, he breaks down crying. Carrizo urges him on, but Turco just can’t say the line; his heart breaks. Carrizo reminds him that if he does the commercial, his mother might see it and come looking for him. Carrizo then tries to get Turco to relax by having him imagine being at the beach, but Turco gets an idea for another way to reach out to his mother. He wants a famous singer to record a song for him so that he can play it on TV…his mother will then return! Turco then walks off the set refusing to do the commercial.
Rosa catches up to Oso at the gym and thanks him for all that he has done for her. Oso then tells her about Ruben dealing drugs; so, it was easy to him up so that he could be arrested. When Rosa tells Oso that he is her guardian angel, Oso would prefer that she see him a man…who is in love with her.
Ep. 32, Part 4: Confession of a Dangerous Mind
Julia looks out the window at Ringo as she cries. He quickly comes up to her room and asks if she has decided about going off with him for a day. Julia, however, is still upset about Brenda and cries as she hugs him. Ringo assures her that she can count on him; she can talk to him about whatever. Just then they hear a car honking; so, they look out the window as Mancuso approaches Diego and reproaches him for not paying up for the job. Ringo recognizes him as one of his attackers; so, he tells Julia to call the cops as he rushes downstairs. Brenda walks in and asks what Ringo was doing there; so, Julia tells her that she needs to call the cops since the man who attacked them is outside.
Ringo approaches Diego and tells him that the man he was talking to was one of the men who attacked him. Diego denies knowing the man and adds that the man was only asking for directions. Diego insists that Ringo is mistaken, but Ringo is sure it is one of the men who attacked him. When Ringo tries to go after Mancuso, Diego stops him and tells him that his place is at his station…that is what he is paid for. Ringo justifies that he only went inside for a moment, but Diego insists that he shouldn’t leave his station...and it better not happen again!
Thanks, RgvChick. You got it all! The title sure highlights Brenda’s expression of her hatred for Julia which was a long time coming.
There was nice plot progression tonight on several fronts.
I liked Oso and Osito fighting off Rubén and his thug and pressing charges against them as well as the “oh so cooperative” police asking for a photo with Ringo and telling him he was robbed in the fight.
Second time Diego has downplayed the thug attack when he stopped Ringo from pursuing the thug and Ringo noticed it again.
Oso was clever making his gift of the money more acceptable to Rosa via the tips. I was happy she was reluctant to accept his romantic advances at this time.
Turco’s commercial venture was just plain funny.
Season 2 #119

Zehir and Kemal are in their new lair. Zehir was just told over the phone by the male lawyer that he wasn’t hired by the Kozcouglus. He tells Kemal that there’s a problem, but adds: “Trust me, boss. I’ll fix it.” Suddenly there’s a knock at the door. Zehir comments that no one should have their new address, and Kemal thinks that someone must have followed them. He covers the photos with a folder and answers the door. Leyla walks into the room and says “In the end, you couldn’t get rid of me.” Zehir leaves them alone to talk. Leyla asks Kemal why he ran away from everyone earlier. She walks to the table and finds the hidden pictures, but lifts a photo of Emir and Nihan. “You’re in the same place as you were a year ago,” she says. He tries to change the subject by asking her if she wants something to drink. Leyla ignores that and asks if the people in all of the photos are his new targets, and if this place is his new lair. Kemal asks her to stop, but she claims that’s she’s seriously asking what he’s going to do with all these people in the photos. She asks if he’s turned into a mobster during his time in jail. Kemal confirms that he’s changed and out for revenge. She asks him to turn around so that she check if he’s carrying a firearm in his waist band, but he simply asks that she leave him alone. Leyla confronts him “You’re lost if you’re after revenge. It’s ok, you’ve loved a lot and got hurt but it’s ok, you paid a heavy price, but it’s over already.”
“Everyone will find out when the end comes.”
“You’re an adult so I won’t stop you. But there are two extremes: on the one hand you have your thirst for revenge, but on the other you have the people you love. Choose the one that makes you happy.”
“I’ll see you later, Leyla.”
“What happened to you in prison, Kemal? This time Emir will win. You’ll turn into someone just like him.”
“I have to defeat the devil, Leyla. One of us is going to lose” he says.
Leyla doesn’t have anything else to say and walks out of there.
Asu is on the phone with Emir, asking if he knew that Nihan had come back. He claims that he has everything under control, but Asu says that that’s what he thinks. She assumes that Nihan showed up at the prison yesterday to tell Kemal about Denise. Emir says that the last thing he wants to do now is make things easy for his sister, but he promises that no one will find out the truth. Asu comments “unless Kemal begins investigating.” Emir says “You overestimate your fiancé. Kemal Soydere is beneath Emir Kozcouglu.”
Nihan hires an investigator to follow Emir, and she asks him to be very careful. The spy says that the problem is that Emir Kozcouglu is no regular man, and Nihan brings up that money isn’t a problem. She has an incoming call from Leyla, but doesn’t answer it. She continues to tell her spy to start at the office.
Zehir waits in his car, handling a phone call. He’s demanding to know where Zera Toscano has moved, and apparently he has his own minion following her around. When he hangs up, he’s keeping an eye on Nihan’s red car, and reports to Kemal via text about her arrival to the workshop area.
Nihan is inside her workshop and finds the Infiniti loop necklace there. She looks around, and remembers the day Kemal yanked the necklace off her neck. Yasemin interrupts her memory when she walks in. Nihan says that she’s returning the car. Yasemin looks concerned and wants answers as to why she came back. Nihan lies that she brought Denise to meet Vildan, but Yasemin doesn’t buy it. Nihan tells her to calm down because nothing is going on.

Kemal is in his car and gets a call from Asu. He’s doesn’t answer it because the guard that always picked on him in the prison is all out of breath and gets into his car. The taxi goes on its way, but the guard notices that it’s going in the wrong direction so he starts yelling. Kemal doesn’t respond to any of his demands and suddenly starts speeding the car. When the guard gets scared and tries to make a phone call to report him, the car swerves and the guard ends up hurting his head as the car comes to a full stop. The guard calls the driver an idiot and then notices that it’s Kemal. He doesn’t understand what’s going on when Kemal handcuffs him. “Calm down and enjoy the ride,” Kemal says. The guard is getting scared and asks where he’s being taken. Kemal tells him that he’s going to a place he knows very well, and that if he behaves, he’ll get out in a year.
Eventually Kemal and the prison guard are walking a lonely, grassy area. Kemal leads him to the back of a small shed that’s patrolled by a random man, and opens the door to reveal dingy walls and an ugly dirty bed and a toilet bowl. The guard begs not to get locked up, but Kemal shoves him in there. “What are you going to do to me?” The guard asks. Kemal reminds him about all the suffering he faced when he was placed in the solitary cell for no reason. The guard begs him not to do it, but Kemal tells him not to worry because he’ll have food and water. Before heading out the door, Kemal hands him something and the guard starts to cry a little. Kemal tells him not to be afraid because he’ll only be in there for the same amount of time that he had Kemal locked up.
Emir arrives to the white house where Denise is being held hostage. Nihan’s spy watches Zeynep greet Emir on the front porch. Emir scolds her for being out in the open and tells her to go back inside. In the living room, Zeynep watches Emir take his pain killers. Just as he asks how everything is going, Denise is heard crying upstairs. Zeynep says that everything is going well, except that the baby sometimes starts to cry a lot. She goes to check up on Denise.
The spy calls Nihan to report on Emir’s new whereabouts. She tells him she doesn’t recognize the area but that she will be there soon. She rushes out while telling Yasemin that she needs to borrow her car again. Yasemin is worried and wants to know what’s going on, but Nihan says she’ll tell her later. Just as she’s out the door, Hakan appears and requests a moment to speak with her. Nihan tells him that she can’t talk to him right now, but he says that it’ll only be a few questions. He notices that she’s a little frantic and asks if there’s something he can help her with. Nihan doesn’t respond and simply drives off.
Zeynep changes Denise’s diaper and asks if she’s content now. She tells the baby to be a good girl and not cry anymore; she can cry all she wants when she’s with her mother, but not with her. She also comments “If your mom doesn’t want to be with your father, she shouldn’t have had you. But that’s the way Emir is, he wouldn’t abandon his daughter.” Denise is none the wiser and just looks back at her. Fehime calls Zeynep to ask if she will go to Kemal’s welcome dinner tonight. Zeynep responds that she can’t because she can’t leave the baby alone. Fehime isn’t having it and tells Zeynep to either quit her job or tell the mother of the child that she has an important dinner. She threatens that she’ll go to that house herself to pull Zeynep out of there. Zeynep gets exasperated and ends up saying that she’ll see what she can do, but that she needs to go now.

Nihan arrives and rings the doorbell to the front gate. The doors automatically open and she marches in, goes past Emir’s car and is received by a maid who asks how she can help her. Nihan tells her to get out of her way, goes up the stairs and finds an empty crib.
“Do you like our house, my love? You burned one down but I found another one. I didn’t buy it yet because I was waiting for you to see it. Now I can close the deal.” Nihan looks at him in confused anger.
In a flashback, Emir reveals that he noticed someone was tailing him while he was driving. He immediately called Zeynep and told her to take the baby and leave the house. Upon hanging up, he parks on the side of the road and waits for Nihan’s investigator to tell him “now we’re playing by my rules.” The investigator looked up at him all defeated.
Back in the present, Emir says “You are less of a mother than you are sister. Do you love Ozan more than our daughter?” Nihan stares at him in anger. He continues: “Remember that her fate is in your hands. She has three lives but lost two already. The decision is yours. Everything will be done the way you want it to.”
Nihan took a few steps down the stairs but stops and turns around to face him. He holds her hand: “I can be the man that you want me to be, everything that you’ve ever imagined can become reality. Make me believe that you’ll never leave my side ever again, and we can start anew, the three of us.”
“Emir, you will never stop me.” She pulls her hand away and walks down the stairs and heads out to her car. Emir soon walks out to the porch and watches her. Once she’s sitting in the car, she looks up and notices the infiniti loop finger drawn on her windshield. In the backseat she notices shredded paper. She takes one last look at the infiniti loop before looking at Emir and drives away.
Nihan arrives at the sea side, parking her car next to a black one. She sees Kemal further down the path, by the waterfront. She approaches him- he knows that she’s behind him, but he seems unsure of what to do or say.
“I don’t forgive you, Nihan. You didn’t only cost me my humanity, but also my memories. Your aroma lets me know that you’re here with me. I don’t even have to turn around to corroborate it. I know that you’re here. I’m bothered that I want to see you, I fight with my heart whenever I hear your name. You robbed me of everything, including yourself. That in itself was sufficient punishment, but it wasn’t enough for you, Nihan. You blamed me for Ozan’s death, including your father’s. You made me pay with my blood for the deaths you’ve caused.”
He finally turns around to look at her, and continues: “You’re not the only one who lost someone. I lost my brother, my sister. You stayed quiet and chose not to say anything despite knowing the truth.”
“This is the way you’re expressing all of your hate?” She asks.
“No, this is just to remind you of everything that you’ve forgotten. The man you once had at your feet no longer exists.”
“You waited a whole year to tell me this?” She asks.
“I haven’t even started yet.”
“It was a mistake to come here.” She turns around and starts to walk.
“Why did you come here, Nihan?” He asks, “Tell me the truth.”
She immediately stops and turns to face him with hope. “Are you going to help me?”
“Help you? Maybe,” he says, taken aback at first, but adds “What are you willing to offer? You should be used to doing this with Emir already.”
Nihan looks at him with so much disdain that she tries to slap him, but he stops her.
“You have until tomorrow to figure it out,” he says, and leaves her standing there alone.
She wipes away her tears and yells “Don’t ever forget about this day, Kemal Soydere! Don’t forget it!” She cries as she watches him drive away.

Tariq is in a fancy office, talking on his cell phone with a debt collector. He notices his father coming towards the office, so he cuts the call right away by saying that he’ll make the payment. When Hussein comes in, Tariq makes sure that he overhears a fake but promising conversation. Apparently Tariq owns a car dealership business. He happily tells his father about an amazing contract that he just achieved, and Hussein congratulates him, and thanks him for taking care of him and Fehime while Kemal was in prison. Tariq tells him that they’re his family. Hussein requests that Tariq be present next to his father at the dinner tonight, since he’s the eldest brother. Tariq counters that he prefers not to be present because Kemal will only begin pestering him. Hussein asks that he put the past behind him, as he’s sure that Kemal will do. Tariq asks that they forget about Kemal for now and discuss Fehime’s disdain for Banu. Hussein claims that everything will change after tonight. Tariq finally agrees to the dinner, and he will bring Banu.
A doctor tries to help Emir with his terrible pain. As soon as he’s gone, Tufan enters the room and sees Emir laying down on the couch. When he addresses the boss, Emir yells at him to run and get his medicine now. He sits up and pops some more pain killers, but they’re not having an effect on him anymore because he’s clearly seen reeling from the pain. Tufan walks the hallway to another minion and orders him to go to the pharmacy.
Nihan is still at the seaside, watching the seagulls. She holds an orange book in her right hand, and lifts it with the intention of throwing it into the water. She stops herself and holds the book in front of her. She thinks back to when she was pregnant and was in a park in London, laying on a picnic sheet and writing in her orange journal. The book is essentially written to Kemal: she confessed that Denise is his daughter, everyday she’s written updates on Denise’s growth, she’s provided many photos, and wrote down every possible detail that Kemal may want to know about his daughter. Nihan wrote that journal with the intention of giving it to Kemal when the time is right. She walks to her car and opens the trunk to place her orange journal into a bag.
After a while, Emir calls Nihan, but her phone is out of service. He stands by his bookshelf and watches a pendulum swing back and forth. Sometime after that, he’s on the phone speaking to minion: “Did you find somewhere to drop her off? Good. Don’t even tell me where it is. Wait for my call.”
At the same time that Emir is speaking, Tufan places his hand on the door handle. He stands there without taking his hand off the handle, but Emir notices the small movement and that’s why he cut the conversation short. “You don’t have to stay behind the door!” He shouts. Tufan enters the room.
“Don’t do what you’ve seen on TV” Emir scolds.
“I don’t understand, sir” Tufan says.
“Surely you’ve seen a lot of TV series. Don’t look at me like that, I only watch documentaries.”
“I just wanted to say that I had already sent someone to get your medicine.”
“What did you over hear?”
“That you were waiting for somebody. And that they’ll be waiting for you too.”
Emir refers to Tufan as a small mouse, and says “Did you know that it’s easy to confuse a blind mouse for a rat?”
Tufan doesn’t understand.
“A blind mouse digs with its teeth, just like a rat” he explains.
“Are you accusing me of being a spy, or a rat?”
“You’re a blind mouse, Tufan. You’ve been digging with your teeth the entire time. That’s the only reason that you can remain at my side.”
Tufan gets curious: “Mr. Emir, you pardoned my mother’s life, yet you still question my loyalty. Why?”
“Go watch some documentaries,” Emir says calmly. He sulks alone.
Hello,
Nihan should have told Hakan what was going on! He probably would have helped. She also could have tried to tell kemal the truth, but I guess he just wouldn’t care, just to punish her. He treats her like a liar and a traitor for testifying against him. But I actually felt that she told the truth, and though it didn’t go in his favor, it was the truth and just as he told the truth about Ozan and Emir.
RGV Chick, I don’t think Nihan and Emir ever had anything to do with each other, he told her not to say that Denise isn’t his gold because he doesn’t want anyone else to find out and post about it in the media.
Nina, I think Zeynep is going crazy in some way. She’s so ashamed of herself she can’t even bring herself to see Kemal. Her parents should find out who she is.
Not sure how I feel about the prison guard being locked up in that dirty shed, but he did make Kemal suffer.
I think we’ll finally find out who Zera was to Zehir.
AnonFri
You're spoiling us RGV CHICK...with such a detailed recap, I don't even have to watch. You've given me every detail I need to know. Had to laugh when I saw "amoeba clan". But it's a sweet tradition actually. I remember in Bill Moyer's book on Healing, he always mentioned how with Hispanic families, there were always lots of families gathered around the bedside in the hospital praying, and that those patients seemed to heal much faster than the Anglo-Saxons who didn't have all that support. And I imagine it's the same for any trouble...financial, judicial, whatever. The "go your own way" independance of the American culture is not always the best.
Interesting that they are now showing Turco's vulnerable side and his mother issues. Maybe that's why he lets Gloria boss him around so much. He's still missing Mommy laying down the law.
Thanks so much RGV CHICK. Excellent as always. I'm ready for Julia to get un-hitched from Diego so I can enjoy her casi-canoodling with Ringo. Right now, since she's still married, it seems sleazy.
Thanks so much RGV. I especially appreciate your translation of the Squawk-a-rama between the sisters. So Cray Cray finally admitted to Princess Juls that she hates her guts because she is a sweet little rose and cray cray is a smelly turd. It happens Beyotch, get over it. Some humans are simply defective, like when you get a lemon car. You are one.
Oso rules. I wish slutty little Zorra could have seen Rafa in action, maybe she would reconsider, as he truly seems to be smitten.
When Diablo told Ringo he should not be looking for Mancusco and stay on station, Ringo could have told him, "Stick it ---Up /there--- I don't work for you clown, I work for your WIFE.(and her pop)
Amoeba Clan was the best. I believe the Spanish still have some herding instincts.
Rgv Chick, as AnonFri said, Emir knows Denise is not his daughter, because he and Nihan have never slept together. She has been able to reject him all these years, and he has always stopped short of physically forcing her.
I thought Kemal would know this too, and would then know that he is Denise's father. But after their grand escape, when Nihan went back to Emir, there was that great "happy couple" act, and remember that scene Kemal saw them in their bedroom. So Kemal may have suspected that sex was involved. As confirmed by that snide comment he made to Nihan last night.
Kemal is usually so smart, but it was a really dumb move to refuse Nihan's prison visit.
Zeynep! How low can that girl go? You may be right AnonFri, she's going crazy.
Tariq as car dealer. Perfect.
With this new stage, I'm finding myself confused. With the time jump, much remains unexplained. Losing threads of who knew what when, what they're up to and what's motivating them. So AnonFri, special thanks for your detailed dialogue translations
And, I'm not liking Kemal 2.0, the cruel version.
Nina, I think Leyla is disturbed at how her hijo Kemal has changed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AnonFri, you have gone above and beyond. Don't stress --- don't want you to burn out! Thanks for your superhuman efforts and for sharing your skills.
I can't promise much in frequency or content, but I'll fill in when I can.
Clara
Rgv Chick, this was superb. The title was spot on and your recap, beautifully and descriptively written had me completely engrossed.
Your conversation translations were marvelous.
"Ever since she was a child, Brenda would watch her sleep and Brenda would dream that Julia would never wake up. Julia cries that Brenda is very sick and walks out" was hard to watch. If there was ever proof positive that Brenda is beyond dangerous, this was it. She is beyond the mere help of a therapist, she needs to be in a setting where she can do no harm to anyone, with round the clock care.
I have to admit that "...Turco says his lines, but then starts crying because he just can’t say what they want him to say" gave me pause. Abandonment by a parent can be devastating. I'm certainly not saying he should be forgiven for things he's done but... Judy you totally nailed it with "He's still missing Mommy laying down the law".
Jarifa, I kept thinking that by having Ruben jailed for years would keep Rosa from being able to get divorced. I wonder if their relationship will progress.
I like Julia and Ringo playing Nancy Drew and a Hardy Boy but she needs to shed Diego who is becoming more unlikeable with each passing scene.
I like the camaraderie on the show. Sort of mirrors the patio, doesn't it?
Rgv Chick, thank you for another special, fun recap!
Diana
As for Brenda, will she come to her senses via treatment or end up dead by her own hand or some one else’s? It seems that the character has reached a crisis point and the status quo is no longer an option..
Julia surely looked better in her little dress than in the separates she seems to wear like a uniform.
It's a late start on the patio, but at least farm chores are done (for now) and errands have been completed; it was a busy morning! Thanks, everyone, for already pointing out everything I wanted to say.
It sure is difficult coming up with a title that encompasses all the events in the episode, so I just concentrated on what I thought was the most dramatic of all scenes...and Brenda's confession definitely hit that mark. I was really surprised that she confessed, not only to setting the fire, but to her hatred toward Julia. Diana, I can always count on you to sum up my own thoughts with such eloquence. "If there was ever proof positive that Brenda is beyond dangerous, this was it. She is beyond the mere help of a therapist, she needs to be in a setting where she can do no harm to anyone, with round the clock care." couldn't have been more perfectly stated! Will Ivan finally concede that Brenda needs immediate attention when Julia tells him of Brenda's confession or will he, again, come up with some lame excuse and say that Brenda was exaggerating. I'm afraid it will be the latter.
Jarifa, "Oso and Osito" I must remember to use that! What a pair they have turned out to be and Osito is proving to be his father's son--noble, courageous, generous, and caring. Now all he needs is that sexy, melodious voice we have all come to melt over...and the excessive tears! Kirby, it would have been great if Zorra would have seen that...Peter Pan has left the set!
JudyB, I just had to use "amoeba clan;" it has become such a staple of the daytime recaps that I wanted to transition it over to the primetime recaps. If I remember correctly, you were the first one to use the description, so THANK YOU!! ...or was it Doris?? Either way, I have both of you to thank :-)
Kirby, "Squawk-a-rama" I'm writing that one down too. The actress playing Brenda is really doing a good job of making us hate her, so I applaud her for her performance. I cringed when she told Julia that she dreamed of her never waking up...since she was a child! It just goes to show how deep-rooted her hatred and craycrayness is. As Diana pointed out, this will take much more than therapy sessions to even get her to a point where she can be considered safe.
Turco's commercial was amusing, Jarifa. I can't stand him, but as Judy said, it's good to know that he has a vulnerable side which explains his need for "motherly" attention. BTW, I recognized the lady that played his mother in the commercial. She's another "Ramon" veteran; she played Damasio's mother in that.
I keep missing Ringo's reaction to Diego downplaying the attack (too busy taking notes); so thanks for bringing that up, Jarifa. And I forgot to thanks Diana yesterday for pointing out La Zorra referring to Osito as "Peter Pan." So THANKS! to both of you.
Tops In my book. Thank you for the recaps you give. And taking time out of you busy lives to give non-spanish speaking people a bit of romance and
Intrigue is very much Appreciated by this commenter.
Now I gotta read the recap from last night. After I make French fries.
All those times shes the one that just
Craped all over his plans and was to
Scared to tell him that emir threatend
Her. And his useless sister helped. And then his sister craps all in it too. He had every body against him.
But the one person that should have stood with him and told the truth was
The one he gave his heart. It's like
All these people is afraid of emir. I
Understand why he's pist off,he's been
Pushed to his limit.
Any kind of pain emir suffers I'm glad
About. Talk about a cold blooded heart
Less person. But it good to see nihan fighting. If she had done that much fighting with kemal before maybe they
Would be done with emir by now.
But here we are happy New year emir.
I think zera may be undercover. She
Is in the perfect position to get the
Goods on kozscuglo holding. I will be
Glad when kemal finds out that Deniz Is his daughter and I want to see Neps
Face when she finds out. O I cannot
Stand that useless piece of crap of a
Human being.
And tariq, a car salesman, now all he needs is a plaid jacket & purple pair of pants. Bell bottoms and white shoes
Horrible.
Leyla should go rest. She's like a blind mouse. She needs the visitor guy
Ok thank you AnonFri. Whoever is in the storming areas I hope your safe.
Susanlynn and any other moon admirers-- WOLF MOON out tonight; it's quite the eyecatcher...just beautiful!
Emir has done it again...found a way to trap Nihan. This time by taking her daughter. I kind of saw this coming....too bad Nihan didn't. I hope it doesn't take the whole season for this plot to run it's course....could't take it. I can't imagine Vildan not figuring something is wrong if she hasn't met her grand child in a matter of days. But then again, she's so selfish and weak...she might actually cow down to Emir as well once she figures out what he's up to.
I didn't think the inept....Zenep could get any lower...but yet she did. How in the heck can she can she justify helping Emir with this kidnapping...this is too off the wall...even for her...I thought.
Leyla's actions are confusing. I was surprised how easily she opened her arms and house up to Vildan after the death of Ozan and Onder. I didn't see that one coming....I get the circumstances...but she rolled over rather easy.
Nihan and Emir have never done the deed but no one else knows that...not even her mom or her best friend. She's never revealed that to anyone. When Nihan returned to Emir...he made her promise to convince all that she is really with him in everyway. Kemel has seen them from a distance in her bedroom and assumed they were intimate. But if Leylah had kept her mouth shut regarding paternity...Kemel perhaps would be uncertain and would investigate on his own. Either way...looks like Nihan is going solicit his help ...but I guess he loves her so much and hate's Emir...it's possible he'd do it without knowing Denise is his daughter. However, I can't imagine him standing aside if he learns that Denise is really his child. Which means...when he finds out...Nihan has to tell him the truth that Emir has threatened to kill everyone Kemel loves if Nihan leaves him. If only she had told this to Kemel in the beginning..perhaps he would have devised a plan to keep his family safe and deal with Emir. Kemel has been working with 1 hand tied behind his back because Nihan has not told him the whole story and is weak. And I doubt she ever will. In her daydreams...she's so much braver than in reality. Like her daydream the day she went to visit Kemel in prison. I was not surprised her conversation with him at the jail was a dream sequence cause she's never been that bold and forth right in person. But we will see how her character evolves this season.
Nett
Thanks, Rgv Check. Fun recap with all the details I needed.
So Brenda has hated Julia since childhood. Scary.
I've seen snakes so often in TNs I thought no big deal. I like that they uncovered illegal exotic animal smuggling so there was a point to it after all.
Nice to see Alejo and Ringo having a nice conversation llike the friends they are. But I guess Brenda will have to set Alejo's place on fire before he gets she's loca in the bad way.
Niecie, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. It is VERY scary that Brenda has hated Julia for so long. I'm surprised she hasn't tried to hurt Julia before this...or maybe she has! It would be interesting if Julia would think back of any times Brenda hurt her, "accidently" or otherwise.
I was actually surprised to see Alejo having a civil conversation with Ringo. I really hope Alejo "sees the light" (but not the burning one) before the friendship is completely destroyed.
OT-- I've added the "Coming...in 2020" link to the sidebar for easy access.
AnonFri, another of your exceptional recaps, what a treat! Thank you!
First of all, thank you, Clara and Nett for clarifying that Nihan and Emir have never been intimate. As evil as Emir is, I thought he would have forced himself on Nihan or found some way for her to be more complacent. I am then really surprised that he didn't go through with aborting the baby, but I suppose he did some long-term planning and figured the baby would come in handy so he can manipulate Nihan; though I still can't see him wanting to be close to the baby.
Clara, I'm not liking the Kemal 2.0 version either, but it is so obvious that he still loves Nihan very much. He needs to focus on that.
I don't know too much about Leyla, but I did think it odd that she was so persistent in following Kemal...and for what? She didn't seem to get anywhere with him.
Zeynep must be out of her mind or she may have a form of that Stockholm Syndrome...unless Emir is threatening her with hurting her family??? Whatever it is, she is doomed.
I really thought Nihan was going to throw that journal over the cliff. If she had, I was hoping Zehir would be watching her and retrieve it somehow.
Speaking of Zehir, I vaguely remember that (sometime back) when he accompanied Kemal to a dockside, he hesitated and seemed to have a "moment." At the time, I thought he was recalling being with someone special at that place; could that special someone be Zera Toscano?
AnonFri, I noticed your numbering on the recaps so I have adjusted my numbering to match yours. Thanks!
Dead she still trying to fight alone.
If she would just be willing to turn over on emir with kemald help they may
Be able to topple the giant. But no it
Ain't happening. So we get to watch nihan walk fast this way and that way
Throw a few cuss words at emir here &
There. I dnt understand why she told kemal "you will remember this day".
Was she gonna tell him Deniz is his if he decided to help her? Whatever shes
Okay kemal is pusy and emir's a idiot.
Onward and down.
Zeynep is just dumb. Emir don't have to threaten her, she'd drink his urin if He said it would get her what she wants andvm that would be him. She's
Just that dumb. Thanks!
Season 2 #120
(1)
Fehime is washing her hands in the kitchen. Asu is helping her cook a salsa, and asks if it needs to cool down before being grinded. Fehime tells her that they can’t feed anyone with the amount she has in the pan. Asu says that she’s cooking something specifically for Kemal. Suddenly she gets a call from Tufan and she goes out to the garden to answer.
“Why did you call me?” She demands.
“Emir is planning something, and I honk it has to do with Nihan’s return.”
Asu scoffs and asks if she needs to congratulate him for his suspicions.
“You’re starting to resemble him, Asu. Everyday it seems like you’re getting lost-“
She cuts him off: “Keep investigating, Tufan.”
“He’s been in his studio all day. He doesn’t want to tell me anything.”
“Because he doesn’t trust you.”
“This is a time bomb waiting to happen”
“Are you the time bomb, or is it Emir? He knows you’re not a spy, but even if you work for him, he doesn’t trust you.”
“I’m a blind mouse, living in darkness. Someone who keeps hurting himself with the same wall of his past without finding the exit” he hangs up on her. His comment left her very annoyed.
Nihan is sitting on a bench by the seaside. Leyla is being driven in a taxi and notices her. She gets off and walks to her niece. Leyla’s white dress contrasts with Nihan’s black funeral dress. She sits next to Nihan and asks what she’s doing there. Nihan doesn’t say anything at first and leans her head on Leyla’s shoulder. She finally says that she doesn’t know why she’s there or what she will do. Leyla comments that she believes that Nihan is running away from her because she’s been rejecting all of her calls all morning. Nihan denies it, but Leyla remains adamant that is she’s not running away from her, she’s running away from someone else.
“You disappeared for a year without telling anyone why. Then come back precisely on the day Kemal is released, as if nothing had happened.”
“Are you going to keep judging me?” Nihan asks.
“No one is judging you, but you pushed everything aside, including Kemal. Does Emir know that you’ve come back?”
“He knows.”
“Why did you come back? Where’s Denise?”
“With her father.”
“You gave up again? You returned with you daughter out of your own will?Congratulations. You left, hid for a year and began a new life...” She pauses and then asks “did he force you to come back? Did he threaten Denise’s life or threaten to harm you both?”
“My biggest threat was giving birth to Denise. She’ll be staying for a bit with her father...Can we go see my mother?”
Leyla protests but Nihan asks her to please do as she says.
A prison guard knocks on a door, asking for Selma. He enters the apartment and finds it vacant. Suddenly Kemal appears behind him and places his hand on the man’s shoulder. The man asks what Kemal is doing there, who responds that he’s there to congratulate him. Kemal sits on the couch and says that the wife has told everyone that her husband renounced his job and relocated to Anatolia. The man tries to get rough but Kemal doesn’t budge and tells him he’s the only one who knows where the family is. Kemal reminds him that he stopped his parents from seeing him for a year, so now he will do the same to the guard. The man threatens to call the police but Kemal is unfazed. He hands him a medical report relating to his son, whom Kemal claims can no longer hear because the father beat him, while the wife’s retina got detached from a beating too. Kemal reveals that Selma cooperated, willingly left the home and that the police have the report in their file. The guard tells Kemal that he only did what the Kozcouglus asked of him. Kemal says that he knows, but he’ll make the guard pay for his mistakes anyway.
Vildan greets Nihan with a hug. She asks if Nihan is ok, because she’s looking pale. Nihan claims it was the air travel. Vildan then asks for Denise. Nihan claims that Emir missed Denise, and so she’s spending a few days with him. Nihan tries hard to hold back her tears, and Both Vildan and Leyla get concerned. Nihan swears she’s ok. Just then, Fehime calls Leyla to ask if she will go to the dinner. Leyla says that she can’t, but Fehime tried to shame her to go anyway. Nihan convinces Leyla to go, and so she concedes to Fehime. Leyla hangs up and is still reluctant to go, but Nihan tells her it’s ok. Leyla says she won’t be gone long and steps out. Vildan asks Nihan for photos of Denise, but Nihan gets a voicemail and she listens to it first. She looks scared, but brushes her fear aside and shows Vildan photos of the baby anyway.
Tariq is begging Banu to go to Kemal’s welcome back dinner, but she asks if Fehime will apologize. Tariq isn’t so sure that will happen and asks that Banu respect Fehime for the simple fact that she’s an elder, but Banu refuses because Fehime never grew tolerant of her and also kicked her out of the house at some point. Tariq asks that Banu forget about that and that they both try to get closer to his parents, but Banu says “it will never happen! Don’t you understand? Never.” She leaves him alone.
Fehime is standing by the hallway and says she doesn’t understand why none of her kids have arrived for dinner yet. Just then, Zeynep opens the door and arrives with Denise. Zeynep looks scared and worried, which Fehime points out. Zeynep claims that she’s taking a big risk by being here with the baby right now. Asu crosses her arms and looks at her coldly. Fehime starts remarking that the baby is adorable, Zeynep rolls her eyes and heads to the bedroom. Asu watches her and has the face that seems to indicate she knows the baby is Nihan’s.
It’s nighttime and Vildan has just fallen asleep when Nihan chooses to call Hakan to request his help. He’s driving somewhere when he answered the call, and sounded reluctant to go meet her.
Kemal parked his car outside the family home. He slowly heads to the house and Asu opens the door to ask him where he’s been. Kemal half jokes that she should stop questioning where he is because he won’t respond to authority anymore. Hussein and Fehime greet him, Kemal walks to Leyla and asks if she missed him too. She says of course and they hug. Fehime starts calling for Zeynep to come, but there’s no response. Hussein suggests she may have fallen asleep with the baby. Kemal asks what baby, and Hussein says that Zeynep has been working as a babysitter and brought the baby over. Zeynep then appears, reluctant to say anything at first, but eventually calls her brother’s name. “I’ve missed you so much,” she says. She went for a hug but he immediately rejects it by putting his hand up. “I’m going to go wash my hands, Asu” he says, and goes to the bathroom. Zeynep looks hurt and Asu says “What did you expect?” Zeynep goes back to the room to cry. She gets a call from Emir at that moment, but she chose not to answer it. Denise lays in the center of the bed.
Kemal tells his parents that he’s walking out to retrieve something from his car. He gets into the driver’s seat and starts to think of his plans for self-justice. He thinks about the first guard that he punished by locking him up in the shed. Then he counts to five, but gets interrupted by Tariq’s knocking on the window. Kemal reluctantly steps out of the car. Tariq tells him that he’s happy he’s out of prison, and he confesses that he no longer works for Emir. Kemal coldly says that he’s happy for him, and walks back to the house claiming that he’s starving. Tariq follows in silence. Just then, Kemal asks if the food is ready. Hussein sits on the couch and asks if the brothers have reconciled and hugged. Kemal and Tariq barely assure their father. Hussein then asks where Banu is. Tariq claims that she’s sick, and Fehime passive aggressively says that she figured that would happen. She’ll send her a soup that Tariq is grateful for. Hussein then looks at Leyla and asks if they should go to the table. She agrees, but then asks Kemal “What will we do with you? How do we break this wall and find Kemal again?”
Kemal says she needs to get used to the new Kemal now.
Emir is walking out of a house and leaves Zeynep a voicemail, ordering her to come out of the hole she’s hiding in. Tufan walks up to him and asks if there’s anything he can do. Emir retorts that if there was, he would be doing it already.
Zera Toscano is walking in the street alone, with Zehir closely following. She disappears as she made a corner and Zehir walks into a group of men, but she confronts him just when he thought that he lost her. Zehir remembers Zera calling him Zikret the day he was at the docks with Kema when they were investigating he fishermen about Ozan’s failed escape plan. Zera says she couldn’t believe that he came back from Germany already. Zehir couldn’t really answer her, and she’s confused, asking if he didn’t just get out of prison from Germany. He doesn’t reply to that, and she asks if he’s been out this whole time. He still doesn’t say anything besides her name, and she starts to get offended when she realizes that he had been avoiding her this whole time.
“I don’t want you to work with Emir Kozcouglu” he blurts our, breaking out of the memory.
“How do you know about that?”
“It doesn’t matter. I want you to quit tomorrow.”
“Get away from me,” she says, and gets into a taxi.
Zehir stands there, hands on his hips. He watches her go.
Nihan and Hakan meet. She says “I know that you can stand up to Emir. You did it along time ago, Hakan. Now I need you to help me.”
“How?”
“I need someone who can’t be bought. Someone honest to help me.”
“Help you?” He asks, confused.
“Emir kidnapped my daughter.”
“That’s serious. But from what I know, she’s his daughter too?”
Nihan says “He kidnapped my daughter and hasn’t let me see her. He’s threatened me with her life, just as he did with my brother’s. But I won’t let him get away with it this time.”
“Ok, we’ll see what we can do.”
“Hakan, listen. I need to find my daughter. I have no one else who can help. It’s just you. Telling anyone else would put their life at risk. No one else should know” Nihan is trying not to sob.
Ok” he says, and gets back into his car to drive off.
“Rest, my small one. Tomorrow we will see each other. I’ll find you.” Nihan holds her hands to her chin, as if in prayer.
Denise is soundly asleep at the Soydere’s.
(4)
Fehime keeps giving Kemal more food. He reminds her that she had just served him, but she rushes it aside with the excuse that prison food must have made him weak. Kemal says that actually the food wasn’t so bad, but Hussein says that it was not five star food either. Tariq interrupts and says “He’s just minimizing everything so that you two don’t worry.”
The comment sets off Kemal: “What do you me to tell you? That everyday I’ve faced death? They’ve always invented excuses to hurt me.”
Asu gets up from the table, not wanting to hear more, but stands nearby.
“Do you want to know about my cell? That damned cell. They always kept me isolated.”
Asu can’t listen anymore and fully exits the area. She sits in the kitchen.
Kemal keeps going: “that cell had a small window, barely letting any light through. It would make you sick to hear about the terrible things that happened to me. There was a guard, what should I tell you about him Tariq? Does my story seem cruel?”
Tariq has a lump in his throat and tries to hold back some tears.
Zeynep stares, trying to understand him.
Kemal stops and laughs,and saying that it was all a joke. Fehime actually believes Kemal and tells him not to joke that way again. Hussein agrees with her, but Leyla looked incredulous and goes to the kitchen to get napkins. She finds Asu crying.
“They’ve hurt him. A lot.” She says. Leyla stays quiet.
Fehime tells Kemal that Zeynep works as a babysitter and doesn’t understand how anyone can trust their baby with a stranger. Tariq defends his sister, saying that she’s only trying to help.
Kemal says “Zeynep, she’s a fast one. She’s capable of getting everything she wants. Tell us, Zeynep. Do you want to talk about it?” She gives him a look asking him to be quiet. He continues anyway: “Why are you looking at me like that? That look of small, innocent girl doesn’t suit you. Why don’t you tell us what you’ve been doing this year? Tell us.”
“This has also been a tough year for her,” Tariq butts in.
“Be quiet,” Kemal tells him, then directs his attention back to Zeynep: “tell us why you’re quiet. Tell them of the heavy weight you’re carrying on your shoulders.”
Hussein asks Kemal what he’s talking about, but Kemal asks that Zeynep be given a moment to speak. Kemal says he wants to know how it is that Zeynep went from being a Sezin to a simple babysitter.
“Everything’s left in the past, Kemal” she says.
“That’s what you think” he says.
Zeynep gets up and slowly walks to her childhood room to cry. Asu saw her along the way, but didn’t seem very sympathetic.
Tariq comments that it seems Kemal missed her a lot. Hussein tells Kemal that he spoke to his sister too harshly, and that things weren’t as simple as they seem.
Kemal goes to the kitchen, asking for tea. Fehime senses the tension between her children and asks Kemal “Son, what is happening between you all? I’m aware that something is affecting you.”
“It’s just your imagination. You think I’ve changed, but really nothing is going on. Don’t forget to put fruit in the tea.”
Kemal walks away but is stopped short when he hears Denise cry. Fehime loudly calls Zeynep to tell her to check up on the baby. Kemal enters the room first just as Denise stops crying. He sits next to her and smiles. Denise was about to continue crying but instead smiled when she grabbed his finger. They both stare at each other and share a moment. He almost picked her up but Zeynep walks into the room.
(5)
Kemal begins confronting Zeynep.
“How dare you come to the house and show me your face?”
“Kemal, mom made me-“
“What’s wrong? You’re that affected? Don’t worry. It doesn’t matter anymore.”
“Kemal-“
“Is that your daughter? Does someone have to die so that the truth can come out?”
“She’s not my daughter. I only take care of her.”
“You’re such a good liar, sister. You have the typical expression of someone hiding something. But you know what? You don’t matter to me anymore, you’re not my sister and if i has a choice you never would have been.”
“Don’t lie anymore. You hid it for me and my parents.”
“Not for you. I did it for my parents. But you keep pushing the limits” he held his hand out, pointing in an accusatory manner towards Emir’s residence and says “I know that you’re still thinking about that man and his money. I’m surprised you’re not with him.”
“What happened to you? Why are you like this to me?”
He gets closer to her: “I don’t need anyone to tell me how to behave, especially you of all people. You took the knife and stabbed me to death.”
Zeynep cowers.
“Indifference was my only way out. What’s wrong? Does it hurt?” He walks out and closes the door. She stands there in shame, sobbing.
****
Hello,
I felt a little bad for Zeynep, but she still hasn’t gotten her karma. Kemal will be livid when he finds out that she’s carrying around Denise, whether or not he knows about her paternity by then. I don’t* think she’s being threatened with anything to be at Emir’s beck and call. She’s just answering to money.
I have hope that Tariq may change, but I know that he put on a show for Kemal. He left Emir because of his mother’s relationship with Banu. I also agree with her that she shouldn’t be forced to be around Fehime if the latter refuses to be nice. Fehime has always been arrogant when she finds something off from her expectations.
I hope Kemal can change back to who he used to be. I’m still not sure how to feel about him doling out his own justice. It’s fair, but at the end of the day Emir remains untouched.
When Nihan asks Leyla if she will continue to judge her, I found it ironic that Leyla says no, yet continues to shame her. She’s another character with a holier than thou attitude. Maybe if she had let her talk to Kemal, he would know why she left and came back. Though isn’t the question redundant? She obviously left to keep her child safe from Emir. Who doesn’t know that? Now she’s seen everywhere without the child, can’t anyone guess that Emir has the baby hostage?
I still wonder why Nihan chose London. In the beginning, when Emir was trying to court her, he offered her tickets to a concert in London for the same night, and said they could get there in his private jet. London isn’t far from Istanbul!
RGV, I noticed the numbering on my TV guide changed! I’m not even sure if the guide is accurate cause I thought season one ended past 115?
Clara, I appreciate all of your efforts. Recapping can be hard.
