"REINA 2":

SpanProf: Kate del Castillo is amazing & does a good job portraying an anti-hero.

Reina 2: Yep, Steve, I am a Kate del Castillo fan and especially liked her in the movie about the little boy who left Mexico to try to find his mother (played by Kate del Castillo) in the US.

100 dias. More sitcom tropes in the ways that somehow, even though Sol is in Plutarco's condo with Daniel, they manage to avoid each other. Not quite speedy enough to be farce, though. And darn! Ale has encountered another ally, that girl working on the project with her and who she thought was her friend.

100 dias. I meant bully, not ally.

100 días

SpanProf, I too was disappointed that Ale's supposed friend Lucia turns out to be a deceitful perra.

I know it's a tired staple of comedy, but I nonetheless enjoyed the scenes where Danny and Plutarco were in the house with Sol, and Danny was trying frantically (and, for the moment, successfully) to keep Sol from meeting Plutarco. I can't wait for Danny's efforts NOT to work, and for him and his father to realize they're interested in the same woman.

Ditto Jimena and Aurora with Luis, though here the situation is quite serious as well as comic. I enjoyed it when Jimena calls Luis to ask who he bought the nurse's disguise for and says "We haven't played doctor, as far as I know." He tells her he can't talk to her now because he's at a meeting. "A meeting? At this hour?" Suddenly she hear's a child's voice in the background calling "Papi." Oops. Luis hangs up abruptly and Nico comes running to give him a hug. Jimena then goes to Emiliano's. She knows that Emiliano and Luis are good friends, and she demands that he tell her "Where is my husband, and with whom?!" Perhaps we'll see tonight whether Emiliano spills the beans. It seems a bit too soon in the novela, but...

Muchas gracias, deb, for the info about Telemundo's plans. I was surprised and disappointed to see that they're going with yet another season of Exatlón. Yawn. Other than the pleasure of seeing some gorgeous male bodies, I haven't found anything appealing about it (For a while, I was seeing the last few minutes while waiting for the 9 pm novela.)

Buscando a Frida sounds as if it might be interesting.

Please keep us posted.

100 dias. Poor Ale! First she's targeted by bullies at school, and now she learns that her beloved father isn't really her biological father. It looks as if neither Plutarco nor Constanza is going to be successful at being unfaithful. Plutarco's search for condoms was actually pretty funny. All in all, this novela is turning into a slow motion Hotel Paradiso (among other things).

"100 DIAS":

SpanProf: Ale being bullied viciously pissed me off! I'm afraid this will drag on for the remainder of this Telenovela.

100 días

SpanProf, poor Ale indeed! I am glad, however, that Daniel stood up for her. So far, there's no sexual vibes between the two of them, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if at some point that changed. Though I'd also be happy if Ale found a novia who cared for her. Or (is this asking too much of a telenovela?) that Ale at the end becomes more confident and assured and doesn't need either a novio or a novia.

Loved the condom scene, especially when Plutarco's father-in-law's little sweets turn out to be a bottle of the magic blue pills and the two of them agree to keep each other's secrets.

Well, it looks as if Ale isn't the only one being played/deceived by her classmates. I suspect Danny isn't going to be pleased when he finally realizes that Sol values him largely for his helping her pass her exams. Not to mention that she's more excited by his father than by him.

I found a couple of things hard to believe. One was Remedios' success in landing a $50,000 contract as a decorator (I think Bruno actually said $50K to start with) based on...what? A suggestion that he have orange walls??? Hmmm...I guess Connie may have told him that Remedios designed the interior of their house, though I'm not sure whether that's true. But I guess that may have influenced Bruno's decision. Still, the scene at his house did not instill confidence.

Even less believable was Connie's texting "Marcelo Lemoine" to tell him that she's not interested in Bruno but Fausto interests her. Huh?? She's just been contacted by "Marcelo" for the first time, and she's already talking about other men she is or is not interested in??

Good old Jimena is once again bragging about how she and Luis are immune from the divorce epidemic afflicting Connie & Plutarco and Remedios & Max. Meanwhile, Aurora tells Luis that she wants to contact this very sympatico woman from Houston whom she met at the hospital: Jimena. Ah yes.

Hi, everybody!

100 DIAS

Is it any good? I watched bits and pieces here and there and it does look fresh, but is it any fun? I need to jump into a telenovela and try to stick with it and I always fancied Telemundo ones better.

Did I read right that they are remaking Cafe con Aroma de Mujer? With William Levy and Carmen Villalobos???
Cafe is one of my favorites and one of its remakes - Cuando seas mia with Silvia Navarro was decent, too, but are we ready to have another one of those? And Levt back to telenovelas? That would surprise me but I would be so HERE for it!!

100 Días

Well, I finally caught up. I'm enjoying it more than I expected I would. It's quite interesting to me the change in telenovelas over the many years I've watched them. Back in the day they had a couple of gay characters who, of course, never had a boyfriend. They dressed in neon clothes and were over-the-top swishy.

That has SO changed for the better. We're not yet sure if the Spanish teacher is gay, but he is definitely against cruelty to those who are "different". His class using Lorca was fantastic. We've read several of Lorca's plays in my Spanish class and have enjoyed them.

I just about have to mute the TV when Jimena appears. I know it's a comedy but she's just awful. And even worse is that Marlene, but she's not funny at all.

I don't like Plutarco creating a fake profile and texting with Connie. I'm still not a huge fan of Erick Elias in anything I've seen him in.

I had not seen either of the two female leads before and like them both. They are doing an excellent job of portraying how women friends of many years interact with one another.

All the young people are good actors. And, yes, Danny is blind to how much Sol is using him. So she's actually copying his exams during class? I live in a town with an excellent public school system. And both those kids would be severely disciplined, if not expelled.

I agree, Juanita, it was kind of ridiculous that Connie would be communicating with a "Flirter" match about another guy she met in a speed dating event!

I was surprised to see Harry Geithner as Bruno, who's paying Remedios $50K to use lots of orange in his mansion! I wonder if he's one of the older actors booted out of Televisa. I remember him as a terrific villain in both Amor Real and Zorro, la Espada y la Rosa.

TELEMUNDO...

“Enemigo Intimo 2", "slated to premiere on Monday, June 22 at 10pm/9c".

100 dias. Yep, Juanita, not only is Sol using Daniel, but she seems to be a year older than the other students in her class because she had to repeat a grade. I believe it was Lorena? who decorated Connie's and Plutarco's home--and spent time flirting with Plutarco while doing it--but she was a genuine, qualified interior decorator.

100 dias. Btw, did Luis manage to explain away is son's yelling Papi in the background of that phone call at Aurora's?

100 días

SpanProf, thanks for reminding us that Sol may have had to repeat a grade. And yes, I agree that Lorena (Lore) was the decorator for Connie and Plutarco. I think Connie did tell Bruno that is was Remedios, or implied as much, as a favor to her friend. And no, AFAIK, Luis never explained "Papi." (And since he said he was at a meeting, it's unlikely that he could claim it came from something on TV.)

Adriana Noel, ¡bienvenida!. 100 días isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's fun. And a welcome relief from the sleaze of La Doña 2. Give it a try!

novelera, I'm very happy to see that you've joined in the conversation! And yes, you make a great point about the difference between the way LGBTQ characters and issues were presented a while back and the way they're being presented now.

100 dias. I'm glad we're both watching the same tn again too, Novelera. I've kid of missed you and your pithy comments!
