Sorry the page did not go up last night. As you know, Juanita and I alternate putting up the two pages a week.

So Blogger has instituted some changes. Without a long boring explanation I will just say that it didn't work for me for Monday's page. I fixed it and Thursday should be fine.

I apologize if you had a pithy comment or, even worse, a good recap ready to go.

Thanks for fixing the page, novelera. There was a Monday page on Caray this morning, that was attributed to Juanita. Steve had already posted something and I posted half of a Cennet recap before the page disappeared and your Tuesday page showed up. When I tried to re-post I got an error message. Now everything seems fine. I will try posting the recap again.

Cennet #79 part 1

Kaya and Selim are after the guy who knows about the kidnapping and assault of Cennet. Kaya manages to grab him first and keeps this info from Selim. We know this guy is better off captured by Selim.

Arzu’s belongings are stolen by the nasty cellmates and distributed while she is in the shower. Esma urges her not to fight back. One of the nasties pulls a pic of Cennet out of Arzu’s suitcase and asks is this your daughter? Arzu demands it back, but she’s outnumbered and the nasty inmate keeps it. (I want to know how that picture got in there and no pic of Melisa?)

Selim tries his best to be supportive of Cennet. But she needs more time to get over her trauma. He feels guilty that he wasn’t there to protect her.

Kaya has the dirtbag locked up in his pool house. He tortures him to get information about the kidnapping. Nothing yet.

When Arzu is alone in the cell, she searches for and finds Cennet’s pic. Everyone comes back and a fight ensues over the pic. Esma is cut in the process. A guard comes in and Arzu squeals on the inmate with the razor. Fight is over. Arzu holds the picture close.

Ozlem enters Mahir’s room. He wants her to leave, she wants to talk. She says no one is at fault here and certainly not their innocent baby. She wants him to remember their love for each other. Of course, the door is not completely closed and Sema eavesdrops.

Sema thinks back to when Kaya attacked the family lawyer because he couldn’t get Arzu out on bail. She begins to wonder why Kaya is so concerned about Arzu. Once again, Sema’s on the case to find out Arzu’s secrets. She enters Melisa’s room. Melisa is in bed, crying. She wants to talk about the night Orhan shot Selim. Sema wants to know why Arzu and Kaya were there with Selim. Melisa says it was to celebrate Kaya’s new partnership in the company. Sema’s not buying it. Melisa says ask Arzu when she gets out.

Pinar spies on Kaya entering the pool house. This time, Kaya knocks the guy out before he gets any info.

What a 180 from where we started--Arzu is now filled with intense, motherly love for Cennet. She holds Cennet’s pic and mutters over and over, my daughter, my love and kisses the pic. (oh boy, if Melisa could see this!)

Next day, Kaya goes to visit Arzu. She looks a little surprised to see him but stays calm and sits down. He’s worried about her. Is anyone giving her trouble here? He’ll take their lives. Arzu answers that person is on the outside. Kaya assumes it’s the dirtbags that attacked Cennet and he’s on it. No, Arzu says it’s Kaya that should die and leave her and her daughter Cennet alone!

dondi356

Cennet #79 part 2

Kaya ignores Arzu’s death wish for him and picks up on Arzu’s acceptance of Cennet. Now that’s real progress. They are on their way to becoming a happy family. Arzu says, no way, Kaya. When I get out, I’m going to tell Cennet I’m her mom and you are a vile rapist! She will tell Cennet all the bad things he’s done since he came back into their lives. Kaya is in shock.

As Kaya leaves the prison, he runs into Sema and Melisa coming to visit. Sema’s spidey sense is tingling again. Why is he there? To thank Arzu for saving his daughter. He quickly leaves.

Pinar sneaks into the pool house but is caught by Halil before she finds anything.

Sema can’t stand being in the prison and leaves Melisa and Arzu to visit alone. Melisa starts to cry and Arzu comforts her. Melisa confesses that she hired the dirtbag to set up Cennet. She didn’t mean for all this to happen. She only wanted Cennet to begin to trust her. Arzu is disappointed to hear this was another of Melisa’s games. For the umpteenth time, she asks Melisa not to play games ever again. Through tears, Melisa asks for forgiveness.

Arzu is willing to put this in the past because she’s more concerned with the future. Arzu tells Melisa that she plans to tell Cennet everything when she gets released. They can tell Cennet together, like Melisa wanted. Melisa’s true feelings burst out. She doesn’t want to share her mom with Cennet. Melisa is exposed and Arzu has (finally) had enough! Melisa will have to accept Cennet! Melisa tries to argue but Arzu asks to go back to her cell.

Kaya comes to visit Cennet at home. Selim and Nilgun are there with Mukaddes and Suna. Kaya flashes back to Arzu’s threat to tell all. He asks Cennet if she has her passport. Maybe they could travel, it might do them good to get away. Cennet says she can’t leave until Arzu is released. (Not sure if that is for legal or personal reasons) Kaya reminds Cennet of the awful things Arzu did to her. Cennet claims it’s all in the past now. She gets upset with Kaya and goes back to her room.

Sema enters Orhan’s home office. She has questions about the night he shot Selim. She asks if he was invited to the celebration with Arzu, Kaya and Selim. When he says no, she says it’s odd that you and Mahir were not invited. He doesn’t think its odd. The Soyer brothers were dead set against Kaya joining the company. They were forced to accept. Sema tells Orhan she’s suspicious of Arzu and Kaya. She thinks it’s a plot for Arzu, Kaya and Selim to take over the company. Something must be done before it’s too late. Looks like Orhan is buying into this.

Melisa comes home and replays the convo with her mom. She throws stuff around her room. She looks in the mirror and vows, she won’t share her mom. Not gonna happen!

Kaya is torturing the pool house captive again. This time he gets the guy to talk. He had nothing to do with this. It was all Suat and Melisa!

And we are out.

cennet

Wonderful recap, dondi356!! Thanks VERY much!

I'm wondering whether Arzu has painted a target on her back by telling Kaya that as soon as she gets out of prison she'll tell Cennet that her father is a vile rapist. Kaya clearly doesn't want that to happen, and as far as I can see, when he doesn't want something to happen, he'll do whatever it takes to be sure it doesn't.

Melissa, too, worries me. It's clear she now desperately does not want Cennet to know that Arzu is her mother, and Melissa too seems willing to take whatever measures seem necessary to accomplish her aims.

I know that Halil thwarted Pinar's attempt to find out more about Kaya, but I'm not sure who Halil is. I recall he and Kaya ate some meal together, but is he a friend, relative, business associate? Does he live with Kaya?

Cennet

Juanita, Kaya won’t hurt Arzu — not yet anyway. He still harbors the sick fantasy of forming a happy family with Arzu and Cennet. He will find a way to stall Arzu. You are 100% right; he will do whatever it takes. The ends justify the means.

Arzu created a monster in her younger daughter. She’s out of control. Melisa is a spoiled brat who learned all her dirty tricks at her mother’s feet. Arzu would remind Melisa often, “you are your mother’s daughter”. Melisa has taken that as carte blanche to do whatever it takes. She has been envious of Cennet from the beginning. And she wants Selim.

Halil is Kaya’s henchman, no relation. I’m not sure if he lives with Kaya but he’s almost always with him.

I can put up a mini cap tomorrow morning.

Telemundo

I saw a promo for "Todo por mi Hija", pronto. I think it's another Turkish show and I'm guessing it will start after Cennet or when Exatlon finishes.

cennet

Thanks, dondi, for your helpful response to my questions, and for your offer to put up a mini-cap in the morning. That would be great.

I too saw the announcement for Todo por mi hija. It said pronto, and I don't have the feeling that Cennet is drawing to a close. Do you? You and Nina are clearly in a much better position to judge that than I am.

It's interesting that Telemundo is offering two Turkish novelas. I doubt that that was Telemundo's plan at the start of the year. My assumption is that the coronavirus interfered with one or more of the novelas in the pipeline, and that the Turkish novelas weren't filmed this year and were available.

Cennet #80 Mini cap

Dirtbag Caner spills everything he knows about Melisa & Suat to Kaya. Kaya immediately calls Melisa and tells her we have to meet now! Kaya and Melisa meet in a secluded area. Threats fly. They realize they each have something to lose if Arzu talks, so they form another uneasy alliance to keep the truth from Cennet.

Melisa and Cennet meet. Cennet wishes she had a mother like Arzu. Melisa says nothing. We’ve been through this cycle before.

Suat comes out of his coma and confesses to the kidnapping and assault of Cennet. Arzu is cleared and will be released.

Arzu calls Cennet to say don’t tell anyone but she’s being released a day earlier and asks her to come pick her up. As Arzu is getting ready to leave, Esma overhears the nasty inmates plotting to kill Arzu before she leaves. Esma warns Arzu. Too late, the head nasty is about to strike. The attack is derailed when Esma suddenly goes into labor. Arzu helps deliver the baby.

Kaya has his packed bag, passport and plane tickets ready to go. He tells Halil he expects Cennet to join him on his trip even if he must force her. He talks about Cavidan telling all to Cennet. Kaya instructs Halil to kill Caner later when things are calm. Pinar is eavesdropping on this convo. When Kaya throws stuff in anger, Pinar notices the pool house keys on the floor.

Kaya shows up at Cennet’s and Mukaddes tells him she’s gone to pick up Arzu. Kaya rushes out, informs Melisa and the race is on to get to the prison before Arzu is released.

Pinar enters the pool house, finds Caner and calls Selim and Yasar. They head over to Kaya’s. In the meantime, Caner breaks loose and escapes, pushing Pinar to the ground and she hits her head on a rock.

Cennet and Arzu are on either side of the prison walls waiting. Each one is practicing what they will say to the other. The prison gate opens, Arzu steps out and we see a surprised look on her face.

And we are out.

Cennet

Juanita,

There are 36 episodes of the original Turkish broadcast from 2017-18. Each episode is between 2-2.5 hours long. We are getting a slightly edited version, divided into shorter episodes. Seems we are somewhere in Turkish episode 27.

I agree that the schedules have been shuffled due to the pandemic. Univision and UniMas have Turkish shows on their schedules, too. But Turkish shows have a huge and continually growing international audience, especially in Latin American countries, and there may be a growing market in the US now.

cennet

Thanks VERY much, dondi356, for your excellent mini-cap. I had inadvertently missed the first few minutes of last night's episode, so I was especially happy that you included that. (I've now arranged to have the episodes recorded, but I didn't do that in time for last night's.)

I have a question and a few remarks about last night's episode. At one point, one of the nasty women in the prison (possibly Halime, but I'm not sure) tells Arzu she has no right to cite moral issues, since she abandoned her baby. How did the nasty woman know this? I don't think Arzu had even told Esma at this point (she does, later in the episode).

I almost laughed when the camera focuses in on the stuff Kaya angrily knocked on the floor. There was the key, right in plain sight. Halil picks up several other items but fails to pick up the key, which was right there. Yeah, right. (My goodness, imagine that, Pinar found it! :-)   )

The scene where Esma gives birth really affects Arzu deeply. She pleads with Esma to at least look at her baby, smell her baby, and says she can always give it away later if she still wants to. It's then that Arzu admits that she had given away her baby and now deeply regrets that she did so. She places the baby right next to Esma, almost forcing her to see and smell it/her. And, being a novela, that's all it takes for Esma to change her mind. As Arzu leaves, she hears Esma say that she will name the baby Arzu. And Arzu tells one of the guards that she, Arzu, will cover Esma's expenses regarding the baby, and she asks the guard to let Esma know this.

dondi, thanks also for the information about the number of episodes in Cennet. It thus seems as if the upcoming Turkish novela will start when Exatlón ends.

Cennet

Thank you, Juanita, for filling in some very important information regarding the birth scene. I should have mentioned it and I’m glad you did.

I don’t know very much about Turkish culture but scent/smell of a loved one, especially a child, seems to have great importance. It’s mentioned throughout every Turkish dizi I’ve ever seen and you will notice characters sniffing loved ones often. They also sniff a lot of clothing and blankets, too. I don’t notice this as much in the Spanish language novelas.

I don’t know how nasty Halime knew about Arzu’s past. That must have fallen to the cutting room floor.

Quite a few things have made me LOL watching this show. Plenty of eye rolling moments, too.

general

I miss you guys! Not interested in starting Cennet so late in its airing. I did want to try Médicos on Univisión. I have recorded it, but baseball started! I haven't gotten back to the recordings because I miss sports so much. I have less time than before in the evening due to watching baseball. Sadly, my San Francisco Giants are not doing very well so far. At least they haven't had multiple COVID cases like the Miami Marlins.

The one I was looking forward to and God knows when it could resume filming is Falsa Identidad. Juanita and I both enjoyed that one and actually were surprised that they decided on a second season.

cennet

I'm tempted to try to do a mini-cap tonight. Since I am on the West Coast, the episode won't air until midnight Eastern time, so the mini-cap won't be up until the middle of the night, Eastern time.

Cennet - miércoles - p. 1 de 2

The episode opens with Arzu staring out into space. Suddenly, she looks surprised. It's Melissa, not Cennet, who has come to pick her up.

The scene then switches to a car with Cennet, Kaya, and Halil. Cennet doesn't understand why Kaya has taken her. He tells her they have to rush, otherwise they'll miss the plane. But don't worry that you couldn't pack, you can buy everything you need once we get where we're going. Cennet isn't pleased. She tells Halil to stop the car. He does. She immediately flees. Kaya races after her.

Arzu still looks as if she's waiting for someone. Melissa and Mahir ask her who she's waiting for. Finally, she gives in and gets in the car with Mahir and Melissa. A taxi pulls up and Arzu gets out of the car, delighted that Cennet has come. But of course it's not Cennet but some unknown person.

Kaya catches up with Cennet and takes her back to his house. To his surprise, Selim, Pinar, and the older man with white hair and a cane who often gives advice to Selim (and whose name I don't remember) are there when Kaya and Cennet arrive. "What are you doing in my house?" asks Kaya.

We then see what happened at Kaya's house before he arrived. Selim and the man with the white hair came to the house in response to Pinar's call. Selim found her lying unconscious on the ground. When she came to, she told him about the young man (Caner) who Kaya had tied up and beaten. He broke loose, ran outside, pushed Pinar to the ground and fled. Selim then makes it seem as if Caner escaped without Pinar's involvement, even throwing a chair through the window to make it seem as if that was how he escaped.

Back to the present: Selim accuses Kaya of beating the guy and planning to kill him. Kaya admits that he used pressure to get the guy to confess, and what the guy said was that the person behind the kidnapping was Melissa. She hired Suat to kidnap Cennet. Selim doesn't believe Kaya. He tells Cennet "Kaya tried to kill me," and that she shouldn't believe a word Kaya says. Cennet doesn't believe Selim. "My father did everything to save your life," she tells him.

Arzu is in bed, looking at the photo she has of Cennet. "I just wanted to hug you," she tells the photo. "I was going to answer all your questions, even if it made us both very sad."

Kaya locks Cennet in a bedroom, supposedly for her protection. He claims he doesn't want Melissa or Arzu to hurt her. She's furious and bangs on the door, demanding to be let out. Meanwhile, Kaya calmly goes to his office (which seems to be right next door to the locked room). Halil comes in asking how long Kaya is going to keep Cennet locked up. Kaya doesn't give him a definite answer. Instead, he looks at a photo he has on his computer and tells Halil that he still has one more card to play, and he hopes he doesn't have to use it. I'm unfortunately at a loss here. I looked at the photo, but I wasn't able to identify the people or the situation. I saw a woman who looked somewhat like Arzu and a man I didn't recognize carrying a huge stick or tree branch. They were in a rural area.

Meanwhile, Cennet is remembering the guy who kidnapped and abused her. For some reason, this memory seems to give her strength to fight. But all she's able to do is bang on the door over and over again, screaming "Let me out." Pinar hears her and opens the door. Cennet immediately flees. Kaya comes and finds the door open and Cennet gone. Pinar apologizes, saying that she thought the door was simply stuck, so she opened it. Soon after Kaya leaves, Pinar calls Selim to tell him what has happened. Selim warns her that if Kaya suspects anything, she should get out immediately.

Cennet - miércoles - p. 2 de 2

Melissa comes to her mother's bed and lies down next to her. "I love you, Mama. You're my mother. Only mine. I don't want to share you." Arzu seemed to be asleep, but she heard everything Melissa said. Arzu gets up from bed, and Melissa tells her, "We'll find a house for just the two of us. We should have left when Ozlem returned, but it's not too late."

Arzu isn't receptive to what Melissa is saying. She points out that Melissa used to say that she wanted nothing to do with her, that she wasn't going to go anywhere, and that if Arzu wanted to leave, she should go ahead without her. Melissa seems somewhat apologetic, but Arzu continues, "I had the chance to recover everything I lost, and I couldn't do it." Melissa asks whether she's referring to Cennet. She tells Arzu that Cennet will never forgive her. She takes the photo of Cennet. Arzu demands that she return it. Melissa replies, "I won't permit Cennet to ruin my life," and she tears up the photo. Arzu slaps Melissa. Arzu then walks to the front door to leave. She opens the door. Cennet is there. "What's going on?" Cennet wants to know. She turns to Melissa and asks, "What did I do? Was it because Selim preferred me?" She continues, "It's all Melissa's fault. She hired the man who kidnapped me." Melissa tries to tell her it wasn't like that. Cennet turns to Arzu and says, "You saved my life, but you did it for your daughter." She then leaves with Kaya, who has clearly shaped her view of what happened.

Pinar is in Kaya's office again, trying to find incriminating evidence against him. I found it hard to watch, sure that Kaya would return and find her. The doorbell rings. She hurriedly puts back everything in its place and goes to answer the door. No, it's not Kaya, it's Selim! She brings him to Kaya's office to continue the search.

Meanwhile, Kaya seems to be succeeding in shaping (or mis-shapping) Cennet's understanding. She tells him, "I don't want to see either Melissa or her mother again." Kaya says he hopes she has learned that in this world, you must trust your family. "And I'm your father."

Cennet wonders whether Selim lied. "If he really loves me, he can't keep acting like that, or he'll lose me." (Score another point for Kaya)

Meanwhile, Selim puts the key in Kaya's computer. Oops, it needs a password. Pinar suggests "Cennet." Nope.

Mahir tells his mother that Melissa is mentally ill. "Who hires someone to kidnap someone?" he asks. Arzu has overheard his conversation, and she asks, "Are you getting rid of your daughter because of the bastard you're expecting? You'll have to go over me if you want to confine our daughter."

Selim calls Cennet. She doesn't answer. He then texts her: "We have to talk. Call me." She replies, "Give me more time. I have to calm down."

Melissa asks for Arzu and is told she left the house early. Melissa phones her. Arzu doesn't answer. Melissa decides that Arzu must be with Cennet. She thinks Kaya can stop her. She tries unsuccessfully to call Kaya.

Arzu comes to see Mukaddes and says, "I'm going to tell Cennet the whole truth." [But not tonight, because the episode ends here.]

Cennet

Thank you so very much, Juanita! That was a marvelous recap! Especially since you have limited background info on the happenings.

The older gentleman with Selim is Yasar.

The photos Kaya has are the originals from the Riza death cover up. They are pics of Cengiz and Arzu with Riza’s body. To blame Cengiz and protect Arzu, Kaya had the photos doctored to edit Arzu out. When Kaya shot Cengiz, he left the doctored photos behind to make it look like a suicide because Cengiz couldn’t stand the guilt. I suppose he’s intending to use the originals to blackmail Arzu into not telling Cennet.

Lather, rinse, repeat: It’s not too farfetched that Cennet would buy into Kaya’s story. Arzu and Melisa have done a lot of awful things to get rid of Cennet. Once, Melisa kidnapped Cennet and held her in a shack with a plan to kill her by setting a fire. Selim discovered the plan but when he arrived at the scene, Melisa knocked him out and tied him up outside. Arzu and Kaya arrived shortly after and saved both girls from the fire. Arzu’s motivation was to cover up for Melisa. Mahir realized his daughter needed professional help and had her committed to a mental facility over Arzu’s strenuous objections. Arzu thought she could handle Melisa on her own. Big mistake. Eventually Sema felt bad for Melisa and brought her home. Another big mistake.

cennet

Thanks very much, dondi356, for your appreciative and VERY helpful comment. I'm most grateful to you. I would never have felt remotely able to attempt a recap had it not been for your immensely helpful recaps and explanations. And yes, I know I said earlier last night that I would try to do a mini-cap. I did try to do a mini-cap, but.... I don't remember who the famous author was who said he wrote a long novel because he didn't have time to write a short one, but I can definitely relate to what he said.
