DAYTIME TNs…y Mas!: Week of Sept. 7, 2020

Good Day, Caraymates!

Welcome to Daytime TNs! This page is being provided to give those who are watching daytime TNs on any channel a place to discuss any of the TNs aired prior to 6PM.  Cita a Ciegos  starts this Monday at 2PM (E). There is a wonderful patio that has formed for Mariana de la Noche! If you would like to contribute a recap or just some highlights for a daytime TN, I’m sure there are those who watch the same TNs that would appreciate it.

This page can also be used as a forum to keep in touch, discuss strolls down the Caray! Caray! memory lane, or anything else that is of interest to the patio.

Please remember that ANY daytime novela can be discussed and everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Friendly reminder to PLEASE put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for. (You can shorten the title to one word, i.e., “Vecina”; “Amores”)

"Daytime TNs" will be posted on Mondays only. There will be a different page posted on Thursdays with a variety of topics for week-end discussion.

MARIANA

Felt like we were spinning our wheels but that is okay. At least the photos finally got burned and Miguelina Is free of Cumache. I am ready for some action.

O/T

Guess I have not had enough of hacienda life and started binge watching “Soy tu dueña” this weekend. Sure took long enough for Fernando Colunga to appear but I have to admit that they did a great job taking the time to build a good foundation for the story. I had only seen Colunga in “Porque el amor manda” and was not impressed. In STuD, I can see what all the interest in him is about. Lucero is also outstanding. Anyway, it is another hacienda, with another nasty foreman, another jealous younger sex-driven female in the leading lady’s household, another fuete, . and even another snake: this time a rattler in the bathroom. 🐍 It is fun a and easy to watch. They are showing this again in Mexico where surprisingly it is a ratings leader even though it is being shown from 3:30-5:30. Hmmmmm. 🤔

O/T

So glad that you're getting a chance to watch that JARIFA. Our Fernando does look very good in STuD, and must credit Lucero too for looking amazing, especially after having two kids. Our "cabalmente" fella appears in it also. He has a different refrain, and thank goodness he does not say it as endlessly in this one. But then everyone in MARIANA seems to repeat themselves endlessly--which would be good for beginning Spanish students I suppose. For the rest of us, it becomes supremely annoying after a while.

Jarifa,
Are they showing Soy tu dueña on the Pasión channel in México, if so it seems to be a permanent fixture at that time, for years!

O/T

Di, no, it is on Las Estellas.

O/T

JudyB, yes, I noticed our “cabalmente” guy José Carlos Ruíz. His character seems to serve the same purpose in this one, too. So much typecasting the more novelas I watch. Ana Martín plays the nana here just as she did in LQNPA. She was quite a beauty in her earlier days with much more interesting roles from what I could find. Back to watching a documentary on giant bears in Alaska. My novela break for today.

Correction: for my previous post: Las EstRellas.

Amorcito Corazón

Just wanted to let you all know that Amorcito Corazon is being aired again on Galavision! It started today (Monday). It’s a comedy and it’s well-done, I really like it

MARIANA

Well, my bi-polar DVR didn't record Mariana today but it sounds like I didn't miss much. Am relieved that to hear that our sweet, if somewhat dopey Miguelina is free of Cumache.

MARIANA

Nope, JudyB, you didn’t miss much. Some stuff that I can remember right off the bat—-

Miguelina and Mediomundo went to Cumache’s hut and found the photos. While there, they heard Cumache approach so the hid under the bed. The Mariana showed up and valiantly demanded that Cumache give her the photos, but he refused. Later, Miguelina and Mediomundo escaped when Cum fell asleep in a drunken stupor.

- Marcia and Montiel didn’t have a sofa so they “moved the desk.” She made it clear that he would only be her sex buddy. NADA MAS!

- María Lola told Lucrecia that her baby boy is still alive. This made Lucrecia suspect that Atilio May have lied to her.

- While having his midnight rendezvous with Mariana, he found out that Isabel had been in love with Jode Antonio; so now he is set on talking to her.

-Cumache confronted Mariana thinking that it was she who took the photos. She stuck to her guns and was able to convince Cumache to give up on Miguelina.

- We found out Yadira’s back story. She left her village looking for a better life. She met some guy that she fell in love with but he only “used” her and abandoned her on their way across the border. She was found by some lady that made her go into prostitution.

Amorcito Corazón

UnOp, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I don’t get Galavisión :-(

MARIANA

Thanks for the mini-cap RGV CHICK. Actually sounds like a pretty eventful 2 hours. Did we get to hear "cabalmente" in addition to all that? Well, if not...surely tomorrow. Thanks partner.

MARIANA

Rgv Chick, "She[Yadira] was found by some lady that made her go into prostitution." That was no lady.

:-)

All sorts of info is coming out now. Loca María Lola told Lucrecia that Cumache left her baby on a hillside but that she, M. Lola, rescued the baby. But she couldn't remember what she did with it.

I like this silly TN, but it doesn't pay to try to make too much sense of it. Atilio took their baby from her shortly after the birth (I don't think she ever even saw the baby, but I'm not sure), then told her the baby had died and refused to tell her where it was buried. Who would stand for that?
Now, 30 years later she wants to have it out with Atilio?

And it has now come out that Atilio is searching for Ignacio Lugo-Navarro and believes Ignacio Lugo-Navarro has come for him and they are sworn enemies. Marcia has heard most of this, as has Isabel.

Isabel also seems to know most of what happened to the Lugo-Navarros and Elisa 'that terrible night'. How can she not know of Atilio's involvement in that and in the death of her fiance?
All that plus the way that Atilio treats everybody, including or even especially the women in his family, and Isabel still "cares" for her brother and wants him to just act better with Mariana?

Marcia, still looking really good, decided to give poor Ing. Montiel another taste, but totally rebuffed any ideas of "love". In a huff he told her Halcón would never love her, he was already in love with another woman, no name given.

JudyB, we certainly did get some "cabalmente" today.

Andy

Cita a ciegas

New TN Cita a ciegas started today 2PM, Uni.

I watched part of it, and it looks nice, but the actors talk too fast for me and I can't keep up with all these TNs anyway.

So I'll have to skip it.

Andy

OT

I'm not sure this would be an appropriate question for Anita's remembrance page so I will ask here if we will receive any more information, such as cause of death, or, well, anything.

Such a shame.

:-(

Andy

MARIANA

Oh, Judy, a Mariana episode wouldn’t be a Mariana episode without a few “cabalmentes” thrown in. After the repeated “No es tu hija” scene, Atilio the Hun ran off and ended up at Isidro’s place; and Isidro cabalmente reminded him of all the killing that he did.

On a brighter note, there was a medical mobile unit that went out with Doc to see some people. They went to visit Teresita’s grandpa and there are hopes of him walking again.

CITAS

Andy - thanks for mini review. I am recording this week, but will pass if they're talking fast. Having to rely CCs takes the fun out of watching because I miss the visuals..

OT

Andy - I did not want to hijack Anita's memorial page, so I'm writing this here. Your comment about wishing Anita had called 911 and possibly having had a better outcome is so spot on that it resonated with me. We lost a good friend approx. 15 years ago to a massive heart attack. He had not been feeling well for a week and put off going to the doctor. He finally made an appointment, and he dropped dead the night before his appointment. Wife found him and he could not be revived.

MARIANA

Doris, I do hope you join in the Mariana discussion. They don’t speak too and they tend to repeat what they say quite often.

OT

Andy, I must echo Doris’s comment in agreeing with you about calling 911. I still can’t believe Anita is gone and keep expecting to see her “Amor Bravío” avatar. In regards to your question about details on her passing, I haven’t been able to find any. I’ve Googled for her obituary but have found nothing which is very odd. The way that she wrote her last comment, I’m thinking she must have has a mild stroke probably Thursday or early Friday...again this is just my guess.

No cable today. Lights running on the generator. So I’ll miss Mariana again but oh well...another glitch.
RgvChick, I too looked for an obituary at the funeral home site and came up with nothing.

O/T

JudyB, sorry to hear that you are having power issues. What a bummer!

MARIANA

Here are some highlights of today’s drama—

• Atilio the Hun went to talk to Doc. When Ati mentioned the Lugo-Navarro name, Doc got pensive which made Ati suspect that he knew something, but Doc denied knowing anything.
• Later Mariana went with Doc to visit Teresita’s grandpa…and lo ‘n behold …he walked!! After several years of not being able to walk! Ay! Caray! Only in telenovelandia!
• Hal went to look for Mariana at the school but she wasn’t there. Gonzalito and he went for a walk in the forest and came upon the ruins of the hacienda. Suddenly, Hal started having a wild flashbacks of that dreadful night. He started sobbing and yelling, not understanding what he was seeing. After he told Gonz that he wanted to be alone, Gonz ran off yelling that “All will be well!!!” Gonz ran to Isidro who came to see Hal. Hal questioned him again and again…and again. Isidro gave him some tidbits—yes, it was a tragic night that was an act of vengeance—all because of Elisa! He then shut up because of his PROMESA!
• Lucrecia went to the Montenegro hacienda and questioned Ati about their son. She told him everything that MaLola told her—that Lola had seen Cumache with the baby swaddled in a white blanket and he left the baby in the forest...and the baby was alive! Ati swore up and down that the baby was born dead. After some pleading by Lucrecia, he agreed to talk to Cumache to find out where the baby was buried so that he could take her there.
• Doc met up with Hal at the cantina. Our very astute Doc figured out that “Luna” was made up of LUgo-NAvarro. Hal admitted to being Ignacio and confided that he was being persecuted by his enemy…ATI! The comandante then came in to question Doc about Ignacio, but Doc covered for Hal/Ig saying that he knew of no such man. Later, Doc told Hal that he only covered for him to avoid hurting Mariana. Doc thinks that eventually Mariana will forget Hal.
• Mariana and Hal had a rendezvous at the tree in the phantasmagorical glade (thanks Andy!). Chachi followed Mariana and spied some on them then left. Hal wants Mariana to go away with him…but first they will marry. Mariana melted in his arms and agreed.
• Isidro had a talk with MaLola to get info on the baby she had. Lola told him about her baby who would always cry and even turned purple. She tried to feed it beans, fruit and such but the baby would not eat (gee, I wonder why??). Lola then told him that she had taken the baby to the big hacienda where the bad man (who hurt/raped her) lived…and gave the baby to Isabel.
• Chachi arrived home and started making a nuisance of herself as Marcia and Ati were talking. Marcia, fed up, told her that she was crazy…and it was in her genes…and her mother is still alive!! Later, Ati confirmed it.
• Ati finally found Cumachi and demanded info about his son. Cumachi swore that the baby was cold and still…he was DEAD! After a not-so-convinced Ati left, Cumache thought-bubbled that he really thought the baby was dead…he had no clue that the baby was actually alive.
• Chachi MUST know who her mother is…so she went to question Isabel who would NEVER lie to her. (Cliffhanger #1)
• Ati, alone in the patio, was feeling suffocated by the humid night. He can no longer stand his thirst for Mariana. He entered the house, started upstairs, then came down a few steps, but then went on up to Mariana’s room and entered as she slept. He knelt beside her admiring her as flashes of Elisa and Mariana appeared. He then slowly crouched over Mariana (to kiss her)…and then…CUT!!
That’s a wrap for today!!

CITAS a CIEGAS

I watched my recording of yesterday's first episode, completely prepared to hate it and never watch again. Actually, I sort of liked it and I'm not sure if that's a good sign, or not. :-)

Our female protag's dad is none other than the actor who was Juan Oropeza in Hijas de la Luna, with a handlebar moustache.

Victoria Ruffo is something of an antagonist; a horrible mother who always criticizes her daughter's weight. Can we place bets on whether Ms. Ruffo will cry at some point in this telenovela? (her trademark)

All the social media, video going viral, etc., was rather well done and truly a crucial zeitgeist aspect of the plot.

The male protag (I think he will be the protagonist) sort of looks like Sergio Mur. So that's good. :-)

So, I'll give it another try with today's episode. It's only one hour; and only 45 minutes after I FFWD>>> thru the commercials.

MARIANA

There was one truly magical scene in today’s episode: Mariana leaving a classroom of kids WORKING INDEPENDENTLY as she went off to see Teresita’s grandfather. Really????? Another telenovela moment.

It was a very entertaining pair of episodes.

RgvChick, thanks for the highlights. I have to admit I so enjoyed Marcia telling Chachi just enough to drive her crazy. Hmm, I order how far Ignaciio and Mariana will get with their plans with watchful Atilio and his minions controlling his company town.

CITAS

doris, I saw some of this today and it does look cute but I have no time for another novela right now. : (

MARIANA

Rgv Chickie, thanks for the mini-recap, it was a big help and made watching today's episodes a lot easier. No need to back up and turn on CC. Well, a couple of times for unfamiliar words like "golfa"   :-)

And dueña, which was not unfamiliar, but I did look into it a bit more. Marcia used it today, and then there was the TN Soy tu dueña, which actually had a fuete in the animated graphic for the TN, which lashed with a sort of whiplash sound in said graphic.

I have always thought that these TNs had a little something for almost everybody in the audience, but it may be more so than I realized   :-)

And, yes, the moon was full yet again. A very magical glade indeed. And it could yet turn out to be truly phantasmagorical if Elisa's spirit gives the young lovers some guidance.
And, while I am not a fan of Stephen King, I really wouldn't mind if Elisa's hand popped out from the grave to pull Atilio under.
Wishful thinking.

Jarifa, yeah, really well behaved kids, eh? All sorts of magical stuff in this TN.

Andy

CITAS

Doris, I also thought it looked interesting and kinda cute but, for me at least, the dialog was spoken too fast. And, like Jarifa, I just don't have time for another TN right now.

Do give it a chance and let us know what you think.

Andy

MARIANA

Andy, “ ...while I am not a fan of Stephen King, I really wouldn't mind if Elisa's hand popped out from the grave to pull Atilio under“ Oh I hadn’t thought of that one, but I did imagine the arms of that phantasmagorical tree coming to life, grabbing Atilio and squeezing the life out of him...and even slamming him down so hard that he goes way down to middle earth!

MARIANA

Love these scenarios ANDY and RGV CHICK.

And DORIS, if you do watch CITAS we'd love a note or two about the plot. Anything to keep our mind off the news!

Jarifa - two hours of MDLN doesn't leave much time for another telenovela. I totally get it. These 2-hr. broadcasts are too much for me to keep up with, although MDLN looks like it is easy to catch up on missed episodes.

CITAS - I had to turn on the CCs for some of it. And it's not like I need to understand every word (because I never will) but it started out of the chute like a racehorse, so I'll watch yesterday's recorded episode today. Seeing Arturo Peniche as V. Ruffo's "roba esposa"cheesy second husband is a change from the role or two I've previously seen him play. If I survive another episode, I'll get back with a mini-mini-recaplet.

MARIANA

I join JudyB in my appreciation for the Andy and RgvChick scenarios.

Looks like EVERYTHING hit the fan in #25 #26

There was the 2nd fuetazo with Marica marking Iggy as if he were a head of cattle.
Ariana gets a trifecta of a slapfest from that perv Atilio when he finds out that “competition” exists.
Chachi took advantage of her newly found knowledge that María Lola is her mother to act just like her.
Camilo was caught in a crisis of conscience or a crisis of self-interest wresting with the idea of handling Iggy over to the police.
Bad decision: Iggy deciding that he and Mariana running away maybe not the nest idea.
El Cumache “created” a grave for Lucrecia’s lost baby. I was hoping she would notice the grave looked too new and would have dug it up.
Iggy confesses to Mariana that Marcia has been after him since she met him but he never reciprocated the feelings.
Atilio wants El Cumache to arrange a mining accident for Iggy. Is he not concerned about the other miners???????

Common sense one wild think:if you are doing something compromising in a public building with curtains, make sure they are closed and lock the door or wedge a chair against it or something.

Time for Mariana and Iggy to go on that lam together.

O/T

doris, nothing much happens in Mariana for a good while and then we have a very busy episode like today’s which was a long time coming.

I gave “Amorcito corazón” a look. The first episode was a hoot but, alas, no time. STuD has turned out to be my very latest “ COVID19 novela” that just plays episode after episode in the background as I do my daily routine stuck most of the day at home. That is how I caught up to you guys who were watching LQNPA. Then there are always the Caray recaps if I miss something. 😊

"Common sense one wild think:if you are doing something compromising in a public building with curtains, make sure they are closed and lock the door or wedge a chair against it or something. "

LOL!!! But that would be too intelligent, right? ;-)

MARIANA

JARIFA, thanks for the recap. Today as I was watching, I was thinking it's a perfect telenovela to practice ones's pronunciation skills in the language. Each phrase is "cabalmente" repeated at least 4 times-- maybe more. And with significant pauses in between. Perfect for working on enunciating one's vowels and ripping off a rolled "r" or two. Still finding it incredibly relaxing, instead of the heartburn inducing travails of Medicos. However, I keep watching that one because I love LILA's recaps.

DORIS...Yeah yeah yeah...who's intelligent when young and in love? Not me. Whoops, come to think of it, I'm STILL not a strategic thinker. Guess at this point, it's not gonna happen.

MARIANA

JudyB, yes, It is nice having a novela that just crawls along sometimes with a flurry of action here and there. STuD time for me starts now.

O/T

Say hello to Fernando for me, JARIFA. I hope by now he's taken his shirt off to tie around Lucero's leg when she got bit by the rattler. A very inspiring scene.

O/T

Fernando sends you his greetings, JudyB. I am way past that scene but loved him sucking on the snake wound. Now Val has shot him and he has pretty much recovered with that fetching goofy smile never disappearing from his face. We are waiting for her horse to be healed and ready for some crazy horse race between the two of them to decide on some livestock.

MARIANA

Wow, not too many people left who don't know about Halcón now, even if not the whole story. Well, the whole story even he doesn't know yet.

Common sense one wild think:if you are doing something compromising in a public building with curtains, make sure they are closed and lock the door or wedge a chair against it or something.

Gee, Jarifa, I didn't realize you were new to TNs. :-)

I keep and keep and keep wondering how much Isabel knows about Atilio's past crimes. Or doesn't know. Just who do people believe killed the Lugo-Navarros and burned down their hacienda? Or does anybody really care?

And, just an errant curiosity, would Marcia be happy with Halcón if he said "OK, I'm yours", or would she lose interest if he wasn't so hard to get?

Andy

CITAS - Here’s what has happened in the first two episodes:

Our main protag is Lucía, who is overweight since childhood. Her mother is Maura, who is constantly criticizing Lucía about her weight. Lucía has the same body shape as her father, Angel. (good job with the casting dept). Marina is Lucía’s sister, slender and of course pretty. Marina loves Lucía and never criticizes her.

Marina works at a TV station doing stuff. IDK what, but she is on camera for a Horoscope segment of one of the shows. She has a ticket to go see some Self-knowledge guru. When she gets to her seat, another guy is sitting in it, Marcelo, formerly known as Fernando-the-artist with the dorky wardrobe in Hijas de la Luna. (He is the one who sort of looks like Sergio Mur when he has his glasses on) He has a better wardrobe and role in this telenovela.

Lucía and Marcelo argue over whose seat that is, to the point they are disruptive and the guru on stage calls on them as his first case. During this, Lucía talks about her mother and the weight issues and other stuff. Someone has video’d it and it goes viral!!! She is now known as Lady Apuesta on the redes sociales.

Next day, turns out Marcelo of the this-is-my-seat! encounter is the newest hire at the TV station. I’m not sure what his job is.

Eduardo is an older guy who seems to be in charge of everyone. Don't know if he is the owner, or what. They are having a staff meeting. Most of the employees are twenty- and thirty-somethings. Someone sees the video of Lucía on the internet and that’s all they can look at. Eduardo has lost control of the meeting. It’s kind of funny scene.

Later on, Lucía and her mother have another argument, because sister Marina is engaged to be married in something like nine or ten months. Lucía and her mother (who is so(!) not nice to Lucía) make a bet that Lucía won’t have a date for the wedding and maybe not lose any weight. Lucía takes her up on it, and says if she wins, she wants her mother’s house. Maura says okay!

Angel (Maura’s first husband and Lucía’s father) is an artist and has apparently been out of the picture for many years. His paintings did not impress me. He and Salazar have an interesting relationship and calls Salazar a “roba esposa”, but they seem to get along somewhat. So apparently Maura left Angel for Salazar.

Salazar seems to live in puffy vests. Who knows if this will be his telenovela uniform? Inquiring minds…

Later Salazar (Maura’s second/current husband) finds out Maura bet the house and he is not a happy camper. At all. Personally, I wonder how Lucía will pay the electric bill on that house, if she wins it. But…whatever.

The TV station wants Lucía to create a vlog (video blog) of her life leading up to the wedding, and the bet with her mother, I guess. Lucía is against it. They offer her a raise and bonus. She’s still not interested. And leaves. Eduardo, the older guy who is in charge (or owner) of the TV station, says he likes her, ella tiene pantalones.

Later on, Lucía starts to practice for the vlog while her bestie, Bere is filming on her smartphone.

Also, Lucía goes on a date-of-sorts with the guy in accounting. He has been leaving her notes on her desk/computer. She needs a date for sis’s wedding, so why not check this one out? Eh, no. He is either OCD or something is seriously wrong with this guy. Lucía ends up sneaking out of the restaurant during a verbal confrontation with said “date” and another customer.

Angel is living in a hovel with rats running around. Apparently he is not a very successful artist and only recently returned to the area. Lucía comes to see him, and sees the rat. Ew.

That’s pretty much all I can remember without having taken notes. I’m still impressed with this one and will stay with it until it either tanks, jumps the shark, or gets TSTW (too stupid to watch).

CITAS

P.S. Well, the argument and bet with Maura happened before the guru scene. I never promised everything was in chronological, order. ;-)

MARIANA

Jarifa, thanks for the micro-minicap! It was a busy day so I was late in watching the episodes. Your 'cap prepared me for those earthshaking slaps...wow, Cesar sure can deliver those!

Andy, "And, just an errant curiosity, would Marcia be happy with Halcón if he said "OK, I'm yours", or would she lose interest if he wasn't so hard to get?" Good question! Bet she'd have some fun then drop hm like a hot potato.

JudyB, "Each phrase is "cabalmente" repeated at least 4 times--" yes four times....four times....FOUR times! LOL I bet if they cut out all the repetition, they would end up with half of however many episodes there are.

OT
I've been watching the rerun of ¿Que culpa tiene Fatmagül? It's in its final episodes and I am more convinced than ever that it is the best novela ever created.

The situation and the dialogues between the major characters are unbelievably realistic.

If you ever get the chance to watch it again, do so.

MARIANA

Thurs. #27/28

So, they are going to stretch the mine accident over three episodes. Sure hope they don’t try to stretch it to four or more.

Cannot wait until Atilio realizes that his plan hasn’t worked.

Isabel is one smart cookie but will she do anything about the situation with Atilio except accept his empty wine glass as if she were the maid? Really?

Looks like we had another fuetazo delivered by Marica and landing on El Cumache’s back.

On we go!

MARIANA

Thanks for the commentary on our slowly evolving, dialogue-repetitive telenovela JARIFA. I am enjoying el Cumache more and more, because the poor dweeb, hell-bent on rape and destruction, keeps getting blocked at every turn. He muffed killing Lucrecia's baby, he can't make any time with the cantina girls and el Jefe interrupts him when he's about to ravish a village innocent. I'm sure we can trust his mine accident planned death of el Halcón to come a-cropper also. Poor Cumache! We're going to have to light a candle for him now and then. Even monsters have feelings. Poor lad must be dealing with very low self-esteem right now.

CITAS

Terrific job on summarizing the first two chapters DORIS. Makes me want to watch it. Not sure where I can find the time though, especially with another in-town grandbaby about to arrive. But I sure will read your sparkling recaps if you keep posting them.

MARIANA

JudyB, you are so funny. Yes, it sure looks like El Cumache is on a losing streak. Hope it keeps up.

OT

There is now an obituary for Anita at the funeral home:

https://www.borgwardtfuneralhome.com/obituary/Anne-Meglis

Andy

OT

Thank you ANDY. What a lovely, gracefully written obituary. Clearly her children inherited Anita's language skills and kind heart.

O/T

Thanks, Andy for posting the info.

MARIANA

Another couple of silly but entertaining episodes.

Jarifa, "Looks like we had another fuetazo delivered by Marica and landing on El Cumache’s back."
To me it looked more like his backside. Poor Cumache may have a hard time sitting for a while.

What exactly does poor Cumache get out of being Atilio's servile henchman and assassin anyway? "Fuetazado" (is that a word?) and threatened by Atilio, even to the point of having a gun put to his head, not being allowed to sit in the boss' presence without permission, etc., etc. Even Marcia is whacking him now, and they ain't kinky love taps.

Maybe a luxurious lifestyle? Hmmm... judging by the squalid hut, or whatever they are called, that he lives in, it can't be that. So I give up, I dunno what motivates him.

More silliness was Juan Pablo rejecting Yadira. Silly boy! Grab that gorgeous woman, get married, and become a deacon to satisfy your craving to serve God. Best of both worlds, eh? (Hopefully they have a deaconate in Mexico.)

It looks like he was in the search party that went into the mine. Maybe a little brush with death underground will help him see the light.

And did Mariana just rush into the mine too? Oh, noes! Could this be the end for her???

Andy

MARIANA

Andy, “backside” is what I originally thought about the fuetazo, but then I decided to “take the high road”. If fuetazado isn’t a word it should be and we all would know what it means. Too funny.

Andy - thank you 💖 for posting Anne's obituary info.

O/T

Thank you for the link to Anita's obit, Andy! Bless you!

MARIANA

Jarifa, you just about summed up the entire episodes...it was all about the mine accident.

Looks like Marcia uses that fuete to give fuetazados just as well as Atilio uses his hand to slap all the ladies.

JudyB, Cumache does have a bit of a streak of bad luck in all that he does, doesn't he? I'll join you in lighting a candle for him...then I'll use that candle to light a dynamite stick under him :-D

Andy. "Juan Pablo rejecting Yadira. Silly boy! Grab that gorgeous woman, get married, and become a deacon to satisfy your craving to serve God. Best of both worlds, eh?" LOL I like the way you think! I had the same notion, but you said so much better!

OT

Andy, thank you so for the link to the obituary. I had been looking for it on a daily basis. And now I see the Vivi posted it on the tribute page too.

Ughh...

Andy, thank you so MUCH!

MARIANA

Wow! The truth is just busting out all over and I cannot wait until Monday.

Now that the viewer knows who is related to who we don’t have to be concerned over any icky thoughts of incest.
Sounds like Isidro is going to perform some sort of hippy wedding in the woods.
Just wait until Mariana finds out that “step-father no blood relation to her” Atilio ripped off the top of her dress.
Good fight scene at the end with Camilo helping to save Iggy from El Cumache.
To Lola!!!! who always lives on to rave on another day.

There is one formulaic scene that I absolutely hate and I just saw it in today’s episode as well yesterday in STuD. The leading lady comes upon the leading man who just happens to have been sexually accosted by the leading lady’s rival. The leading man never just forcefully shoves the competitor away but seems to be powerless as he weakly protests. He is on his most gentlemanly behavior and would rather see the love of his life upset rather than push her rival back on her butt as he looks like he is playing along to be courteous. Really? Then he really doesn’t quite “get” why the leading lady doesn’t believe the depth of his love for her after he explains how her rival surprised him! Duh! In this one, it was even worse because Mariana had gone running into a collapsing mine to be with Iggy even if that meant they would die together. Double Duh!

MARIANA

Wowser! Quite a couple of episodes, and now almost everybody knows everything, except for Atilio!

JudyB, "Poor Cumache! We're going to have to light a candle for him now and then. Even monsters have feelings. Poor lad must be dealing with very low self-esteem right now."
You were absolutely right, and he keeps screwing up. He can't even manage crazy Ma. Lola. Atilio disparages him, Marcia whips him, the miners boo him, and all the women abhor and reject him; the guy just can't get a date, no how, no way.

Jarifa, "There is one formulaic scene that I absolutely hate and I just saw it in today’s episode...
The leading lady comes upon the leading man who just happens to have been sexually accosted by the leading lady’s rival. The leading man never just forcefully shoves the competitor away but seems to be powerless as he weakly protests...
Then he really doesn’t quite “get” why the leading lady doesn’t believe the depth of his love for her after he explains how her rival surprised him! Duh!"

I quite agree, BUT I also wonder why the leading lady believes her lying eyes rather than the love of her life's protestations   :-)

And Marcia did threaten to expose Halcón and get him thrown in jail where he would never see Mariana again. Admittedly, that was after Mariana had run off, but still. Anyway, they got it straightened out. Did you really ever doubt it?

But back to almost everybody, right down to the village priest, knowing most everything. This makes me nervous as it's way too soon, no HEA in the next few episodes, so something else has to keep our lovers apart.

Oh, worry, worry, worry...

Andy

MARIANA

Whoa baby...finally saw this and realize what JARIFA was talking about. Ignacio has the worst case of galánparalysis I've ever seen. He certainly put up with a lot of pawing and smooching from Marcia before finally( hearing shrieks from Mariana)disengaging himself. Amazing that after those incidents he can still rapidly convince sweet virgin that she's the true love of his life and he's rebuffing Marcia repeatedly. But okay...if you say so.

And must say I got a bit of a giggle out of his subsequent confab with Isidro in the hut. It sooo reminded me of the talking points of the fellas in the 50's and 60's. "Hey, what's marriage but a piece of paper! We don't need that if we really love each other. C'mere honey."

What a stroll down Memory Lane. I imagine that argument has been around since the Garden of Eden.

Well, poor Cumache's self-esteem is really in the dumps now. Although I noticed it took several other fellas pitching in to save Halcón from a mortal ass-whuppin'. We've had two rivals of Halcón, the Engineer, and Camillo, the doctor, show great loyalty to their rival. Often in these stories, the bromance between these noble men tends to overshadow the syrupy man/woman love stories. And of course the great confession--if we were not competing for the same woman...we'd be friends.

Well, on we go. This nonsense still beats the daily news by a wide margin. And I wish I could keep away from THAT rabbit hole, but everyday I end up going down it as well. But at least with the telenovelas, I can still say "it's just a story...just a story...And it's in Spanish!)

Sweet dreams Andy, Jarifa, Doris and Rgv Chick. I'm sure our troubled lovers will be just fine over the weekend and we'll find them hale and hearty on Monday for more turgid confusion.

MARIANA

Andy, yes, it is “worry, worry, worry,” all the way. We have LOTS of episodes left until a happy ending. I feel like we are about to be launched.

JudyB, loved the “galán paralysis.“ I couldn’t believe Iggy was so busy with trying to deal with Marcia that he would allow Mariana to get an eyeful and leave upset. I wonder if the writers/producers know how dumb these scenes look. If they were shorter they just might be okay but they go on way to long to be believable. Anyway, I so agree about the news. I watch very little. I read a lot online and then have to say basta ya! BTW, today I got to see a great scene with Valentina and José Miguel swimming and a lovemaking scene that seemed to go on forever in STuD. They don’t make them like that anymore!

MARIANA

You all sure know how to make me laugh. Of course, the writers sure are giving us A LOT to snark, complain and "DUH" about.

Jarifa, "The leading lady comes upon the leading man who just happens to have been sexually accosted by the leading lady’s rival. The leading man never just forcefully shoves the competitor away but seems to be powerless as he weakly protests..." Stoopid! Stoopid! STOOPID!! Halcon has been "weakly protesting" all along. If he would DO something to put a quick stop to Marcia's advances, MAYBE she wouldn't be as persistent...and there wold certainly be nothing to explain to Mariana about. And then, after actually seeing them together and finding out who Halcon really is and that he is wanted by the cops, Mariana agrees to marry him. Where will they go? How will they live...without money? Sweetie, you can't live on love!

Cumache is turning into a joke...he could probably make it as the fourth stooge. I could not believe that Lola was able to fight him off.

Andy, most of he truths coming out this soon is definitely something to worry about...as if we don't have enough to worry about already! Like Jarifa, I can't wait until Monday. Will Atilio find out that Halcon is his son? Will he care? I doubt it!

JudyB, "galán paralysis." Ha! good one! That should go into the "Lexicon for the Patio of Lowered Expectations!"

CITAS – a mini-cap #3-5

I binge-watched the Wed-Fri episodes today. I’m still sticking with this one, as it is light, somewhat funny to watch, and not stoopid. It is almost refreshing but I am afraid that could come back to bite me in the youknowwhat. ;-) And Victoria Ruffo's role is not annoying although she is a bit of a PITA.

Alondra (Maura’s BFF) and Maura caught her (Alondra’s) husband sitting too cozily with … another man! … at a local restaurant. Turns out he prefers men to her. She and Maura go ballistic on him and this “other guy” and get arrested, taken to jail and booked. Alondra is muy enojado will divorce her husband. Personally, I’d rather lose a husband to another guy than another woman; there’s no comparing the equipment and feeling “less than”. Just sayin’.

Federico (Maura’s current husband) is eating lunch with Angel (Maura’s previous husband) and they really seem to be friends. Maura calls Federico from jail to come bail her out, and Federico’s cell phone ring tone for his wife sounds like a Halloween haunted house witch. LOL Angel asks if he is worried that Maura will find out. Answer: She’s never near me when she calls, so she’ll never hear it.

Angel’s mother has come to stay with Maura, Federico, and Marina. (Lucía has her own place) She is a bit of a hoot.

Lorena (mama of Marina’s fiancé) and Maura are working together to plan their kids’ wedding. Lorena has much higher ambitions, snooty vendors, a bigger guest list, and no regard for budget for the wedding. I guess she expects Maura to pay for it? It is not going well.

Marina, in the meantime, is starting to wonder if her future MIL is too demanding. She goes out for a night on the town with Lucia & friends and says she sort of envies Lucia because she is free to do what she wants to do. (gurrrrrl,,,, break off that engagement and now!)

There is some skullduggery amongst various peers at the TV station, and they all talked too fast for me to follow, but the CCs helped me understand that these guys are trying to manipulate Lucía over this vlog. . I’m not sure what their goal is except no doubt it is self-serving. Lucía finally officially accepts the opportunity to do the vlog.

CITAS

Thanks for that summary DORIS. I only saw Friday's episode, but it does seem intriguing. Alas, Victoria Ruffo is NOT good at comedy IMO. She's great at weeping, although I don't enjoy her lacrimonious performances. But at comedy, she's heavy-handed. Doesn't have the right timing. Just uuuuf. She falls flat. For me anyway. The other actors seem to be playing their parts well. At any rate, it's a nice change of pace and I always enjoy your writing. So thanks for doing this. I hope that you continue.

STuD. - one of many memorable takeaways from watching STuD was Gabi Spanic's surreal pompis. The actress herself denied, at the time, that there had been a butt lift surgery, so maybe industrial strength duct tape was employed. 😳

doris, maybe she used loads of padding! LOL

Jarifa - yes, or those butt lift panties I've seen in Spanish language magazine ads.
