MÉDICOS

Médicos” will air for 2 hours tomorrow (Friday). It’ll air at 8:00 -10:00 PM.

MÉDICOS #47, 9-17-20

Thank you, Rgv Chick, for that heads up!

Hola, Peeps! Hope and pray for everyone’s well-being and safety in the storms of life, and even against the minor annoyances, which include most of last night’s episode. But….we try to keep it light here on the Patio! As always, I invite you to correct, add and expand whatever you wish.

Susana Galvanizes against the Perils of Paulina Gonzalo introduces the Kawasaki Specialist to Susana and Luis: After all the air is sucked out of the room, Susana breaks the silence with a VETE! Paulina quickly mumbles that it’s best she leave and skidaddles! Time for Gonzalo’s jaw to drop! Luis explains to the clueless Gonzalo that he nearly threw his marriage away over this hot shot doc and he takes off after Susana. NO ME TOQUES! she cries. Susana cannot believe that SHE is the best option for her son’s care! Luis tries to argue that if Gonzalo chose her, it’s because she is the best! Time is of the essence: they have to move against this maldita enfermedad! We can’t lose time now over what happened in the past! Susana’s response: I DON’T WANT HER NEAR MY CHILD!!! They go back and forth and finally Luis offers that only Gonzalo will have direct communication with Paulina while he stays far away from this dangerous doctora! An anguished and still shocked Susana agrees to think about it.

Madita Mujeres! Ah, Maldita Mujeres, going around murdering marvelous marriages and driving their innocent husbands into the arms of their little sisters! ¡Pobres hombres! Peeps, again I come out of the brackets to tell you that I refuse to cover this story line! I am surprised myself at how angry it makes me! Regina and Luis meet with Samuel to give him some advice about keeping his heart healthy, you know, diet and exercise, limiting alcohol, stopping smoking…Samuel adds ditching your wife and screwing her little sister who appears to be the same age as your own daughter. Oh, yeah, they also advise him to lay off the little blue pills as an aid to the pipe he wants to lay on his wife’s sister! The episode spends a big chunk of time on the funky family dynamics of this sorry group. I’m out!

More honorable men Ana is glad to see David in the OPC; maybe she will see more of him now that Rafa is “on vacation.” David says Art will pick up some of the slack. Ana makes yuck face. Later Ana asks David to see a gentleman who prefers to see a male Doctor. She kinda spits this out with a bit of mockery. David sees the gentleman alone about prostate health. This is surely a PSA for not letting pride or shame stop men from attending to this important aspect of their health.

Danger at Daniel’s Daniel gets home to find his Mother, Elena, crying and praying, clutching her rosary. She tells him they are in debt to some nogoodnicks Paco borrowed money from. Paco walks in on Elena’s revelation to Daniel who asks Paco what is going on. Paco tells him but insists this is NOT Daniels’s concern; his only concern is finishing his residency. The little boy demeanor is gone as Daniel insists he will help and Elena reminds Paco this is a FAMILY ISSUE, and they will face it together!

Desperate Diego Regina finds Diego finishing his morning ablutions in the bunk area of the common room. His suitcase reveals he’s not there because of a late shift on call. Diego is staying there because it’s more efficient! He can be available any time he’s needed! Regina tells him she is sorry for his situation, but he cannot live in the Instituto!

My heart belongs to Art Pamela shares a coffee in the common room with a beaming Art. She is so pleased that he seems less stressed, more focused on his patients than his personal problems. He says that’s because he’s seguiring adelante and going out with someone. How’s that working out, she chirps!? Great! He’s taking it calmly but making steady progress and he’s very happy! Pam gives a weak thumbs up as the light fades from her eyes and smile. Later she moans to Tania that Art is seeing someone! WAAAH! He is so lindo, and it breaks her heart! Pam needs to get away and wishes she could go on vacation like Rafa! Tania tells her the truth about Rafa.

Mi Rafa It is nighttime and Cinthia is as cute as a button in her little jammie set. She pours a glass of wine, sits down at her table with a backdrop of a full window wall and texts Rafa: Pensando en ti y mandándote buena vibra para tu recuperacion. Te mando un abrazo furete WINK GRIN “Thinking of you and sending you good vibes for your recovery, I send you a strong Hug!” At this moment, Rafa is tossing and turning in bed. He picks up and opens his bottle of pills when he gets a notification. He reads Cinthia’s text. He pauses for one moment, then flings the covers back, strides into the bathroom and pours the pills down the toilet. Rafa leans against the wall and runs his hands through his hair, staring at the pills in the bottom of the bowl, his eyes widen and he shakes a bit then quickly pushes the lever to flush them down! He puts his hands on his hips and looks toward the shower, quickly enters in full jammies and turns on the tap. Rafa braces his hands against the front shower wall and lets the water flow over his head. From deep within, seemingly involuntarily comes a wrenching scream….he screams and screams, briskly massaging his head as if to wash away the awful pain that drove him to this madness. He screams repeatedly and punches the shower wall. . .

Schmoozing with the Guerreros Welp, the dinner with the Guerreros worked out perfectly for the clawing and covetous Castillos. Rene describes the structure of the financial support the Instituto receives; a combination of government and charitable contributions. The charitable body is headed up by a Board of Directors that advises the Instituto with oversight by the Secretary of Health. Construction Magnate Andres Guerrero wants to be on that board and pretty much offers a blank check for whatever the Instituto needs. Rene is effusive in his thanks, sucks up and plays the noble, hard-working administrator. Oh, they have no idea how complicated it is to work for the good of the people! Patricia looks skeptical and responds to Rene with “Really?” Constanza’s imagination has been captured; she quickly ropes Patricia in to their planning a big fundraising gala! It’ll be the event of the year! After the Castillos leave, Patricia asks Andres what in the world he is thinking making this offer to help the Instituto where Cinthia works? He answers simply, “Because I want to be near my Daughter,” and calls for the check. Well, we don’t know what kind of night the Guerreros had but rubbing noses with the rich and the prospect of getting paid to do so makes the Castillos want to rub other things. “It’s times like this that make me remember why I married you,” Rene huskily intones to Constanza before kissing her. Not one to let an opportunity pass to humiliate Rene, she breaks the kiss and shoos him to the bathroom. “If you want to have relations, you’ve got to get out of those germy hospital clothes and take a shower!” The next morning they celebrate this expected windfall over breakfast. Rene wants to share a congratulatory high five with Constanza; she refuses, calling the gesture infantile, taking a little bit of the wind out of Rene’s sail. But, he gets his wind back as we’ll see in a minute.

MÉDICOS #47, 9-17-20 END

Snidley Whiplash wins….for now [Peeps, this is painful in a different way than the funk family, but due to the unpleasantness of this turn of events, I have edited heavily to fend off bad vibrations. Please expand if you wish!] So, the venom spread by Rene and the pus sucker all converge in an awful afternoon for Gonzalo and the Instituto. Esteban, father of the pus sucker, has gone to the Secretary of Health who sends the Undersecretary (US) to rip Gonzalo a new one. At the same time, Montesinos goes into the Instituo to see Rene about the disasters wrought under Gonzalo’s supposed incompetence and negligence. Montesinos wants Rene to draw up a document detailing all the horrors because he’s heard that the Secretary of Health has gotten wind of the crisis and he has no idea what the Secretary will do! As these two are talking, the Undersecretary does indeed go in to Gonzalo’s office and grills and dresses him down over the AC, the light. Gonzalo was appointed to turn the Instituto around; not to destroy it! He ignores Gonzalo’s vigorous, even explosive defense. The US demands to see Rene! Marta goes to get him; Rene insists Montesinos goes with him. All together in Gonzalo’s office with Rene and Montesinos the Undersecretary of Health demands that from now on Gonzalo will have to accept Rene’s consultation in ALL administrative matters! This is in the interest of the efficient, smooth and transparent operation of the Instituto! Further, Rene is to report DIRECTLY to the Undersecretary himself who angrily tells Gonzalo before leaving that if things don’t straighten out, the next time, the SECRETARY OF HEALTH HIMSELF will be coming to pay Gonzalo a visit! After the US storms out, Montesinos patronizingly tells Gonzalo this is all for the good of the Instituto. After he leaves, Gonzalo closes the door and asks why Montesinos was in his office. Rene says to get a report Montesinos had asked for. Looking firmly at Rene, Gonzalo says, “Listen, if I discover that you have been interfering (biocoteando; from biocotear, to boycott) in my work, you are NOT going to get away with it! Rene makes that stupid, dopey face that means he’s been caught with his drawers down. BASTA!

MEDICOS

Thank you for your second comment, Susanlynn and your always welcome arrival to the Patio, UnOp! yesterday! Gracias! Please stop by today...I'm afraid I've done a little angry tooth grinding! We need a support group for the loved starved telenovistas out here!

MEDICOS 47/55

Gracias, Lila. Great opening: Susana Galvanizes against the Perils of Paulina Gonzalo introduces the Kawasaki Specialist to Susana and Luis: After all the air is sucked out of the room, Susana breaks the silence with a VETE! Paulina quickly mumbles that it’s best she leave and skidaddles!

This is not a harbinger of anything good. Has anyone noticed whether Laura Carmine is wearing contacts or whether her heterochromia is showing? I'm not quite trusting my screen.

I don't have a good feeling about Cinthia's parents. As I've said before, her father doesn't seem to care not only about what she wants but about the horrible time she would have running his company because of sexism and misogyny.

Gonzalo should not have threatened Rene, because that will cause Snidely Whiplash to be more careful than he has been so far. What he needs is a spy.

Two hours tonight? With 22 episodes to go I hope they don't try to force three episodes into two hours.

MEDICOS

Gracias a ti, Urban! Oh, Urban! I'd better get extra cheerios, coffee AND take a nap! Here we go! I'm up for it and I welcome your helping orient us as to where we really are in the story.

Has anyone noticed whether Laura Carmine is wearing contacts or whether her heterochromia is showing? I'm not quite trusting my screen.

What do you mean by this, Urban?

ITA that Cinthia's parents in her life at the Instituto feels ominous. The only thing I see turning them around is if one or both of their lives are saved by the Doctors there! I don't know how it works in Mexico, but here Cinthia would not be allowed to give her parents medical care. She's an orthopedic surgeon so I don't see her fixing her Dad's crushed legs, for example. But then, it's only a novela!

Also agree that Rene is going to get more devious. I wonder if they're going to rush us into the big charity GALA tonight? We shall see!

Thanks, Urban!

Muchisimas Gracias, Lila, another stellar retelling of last nights explosive events! I am still in awe of your phenomenal writing abilities. While your entire recap is an exquisite jewel, here are some of my favorite gems...

"After all the air is sucked out of the room, Susana breaks the silence with a VETE!" Dang! I was expecting them to start gasping for air! The tension was obviously palpable, but Gabriel was unphased...which was a good thing for him

"Maldita Mujeres... I refuse to cover this story line!" I'm with ya!

"The little boy demeanor is gone as Daniel insists he will help..." Oh I wish Tanya had seen Daniel tighten that belt and put his foot down. She may have been quite smitten by it.

"Pam gives a weak thumbs up as the light fades from her eyes and smile. Later she moans to Tania that Art is seeing someone! WAAAH!" Pobrecita! That bubble burst and was all over her face. I am really surprised that Art doesn't have a clue about her feelings, but then he is STILL focused on Regina, thinking that he has a chance with her.

"At this moment, Rafa is tossing and turning in bed. He picks up and opens his bottle of pills when he gets a notification. He reads Cinthia’s text." what perfect timing Cinthia had! These two are so connected that she probably sensed his need for her supportive words.
And my jaw dropped when I read this: "From deep within, seemingly involuntarily comes a wrenching scream….he screams and screams, briskly massaging his head as if to wash away the awful pain that drove him to this madness." WOW! I am more that impressed! What powerful description of such an emotional moment.

"Patricia asks Andres what in the world he is thinking making this offer to help the Instituto where Cinthia works? He answers simply, “Because I want to be near my Daughter,” " Hmmm, what is he up to? I'm with Patricia...just. don't. believe. him.

"So, the venom spread by Rene and the pus sucker all converge in an awful afternoon for Gonzalo and the Instituto." Yup, the two snakes slithered their evil ways into the minds of the higher ups, but Gonzalo stood his ground and didn't cave. I'm still worried about him though. The two snakes will continue spreading their venom and striking when least expected.

Li-la-the-wonder-writer, thanks again!

MEDICOS

Rgv Chick!! Muchisimas gracias, de verdad!

WOW! You know what? I was so riveted to the adults, I don't even have a visual memory of Gabriel in the bed? It's like Regina's turtlenecks! OMgosh! I'm going to have to go back and see what he was doing! That's hilarious!

Oh I wish Tanya had seen Daniel tighten that belt and put his foot down. She may have been quite smitten by it. Yes ma'am! Daniel was THE MAN!!! I certainly like him better like that!!

Oh, that stupid Art! He is purty, but he IS too focused on Regina! Art apparently didn't here the friend part of Regina saying she would be there for him. BUT, she did leave the door open saying something like they'll see what happens after he's over the trauma. Sheesh!

And, YES, my Rafa! And my Cinthia! Perfect timing. She saved his life again!!

Rgv Chick, man! What a run of tough stuff for Gonzalo! All we need is for Aurora the Horror and Snotty, Bitter Felipe to reappear! Jeezopete!

Your words mean so much to me. You are a blog warrior and I know you guys have covered a TON of novelas. Your response to my summaries are truly appreciated. Thank you!

MEDICOS

“From deep within, seemingly involuntarily comes a wrenching scream….he screams and screams, briskly massaging his head as if to wash away the awful pain that drove him to this madness”. Crystallized clearly and Vivid in its intensity. Beyond powerful.

"clawing and covetous Castillos" was perfect Lila. Andres and Rene are cut from the same fetid cloth. I agree Urban, Andres has an ulterior motive and I think it is to separate Cin from her medical career - pronto.

I delighted in “Maldita Mujeres, going around murdering marvelous marriages and driving their innocent husbands into the arms of their little sisters! ¡Pobres hombres!”. Silence is golden, particularly here as none of us want any of these characters to darken our screen 😊.

"The little boy demeanor is gone as Daniel insists he will help and Elena reminds Paco this is a FAMILY ISSUE, and they will face it together!" was great. I loved your comment Rgv Chick that it would be nice for Tania to see this serious, decisive side to Daniel.

"He says that’s because he’s seguiring adelante and going out with someone". Really Art? Now, who might that be. Art is many things, some good, some not, but delusional? Definitely. “Pam gives a weak thumbs up as the light fades from her eyes and smile”. Don’t give up hope Pamela! You are a sweetheart and very worthy. We’re just not quite sure yet that he is.

I suspect Luis and family will have to bear Paulina but I hope he will be able to contain his yearning, completely smitten expressions in front of his wife. I fear his resistance will be futile.

The attack against Gonzalo was hard to watch. He needs an ally and a miracle.

Did anyone think that Rafa might be going through withdrawal and might need some help? A long road ahead but I fear more might be needed than an occasional sweet text from Cin.

Exceptional Lila. This was a painful episode but your wonderful recap was just the perfect, soothing balm.

Diana

MEDICOS

"Lila, the wonder writer"! That's a perfect name for her RGV CHICK. I totally agree.

Like you and URBAN, I loved the recounting of the Susana/Paulina scene. And I laughed LILA, when you wrote:

"Cinthia is cute as a button in her little jammies set." I thought the same thing. Especially liked the white fuzzy slippers. Quite fetching. Also happy to see the ubiquitous fruit bowl on her table. Nice arrangement of pears, apples and bananas. Product placement for Mexican produce.

Your description of Rafa's drug flushing was also well done. And I was fascinated by the camera angle. The cameraman must have been lying on his back. Really an incredible shot. As dramatic as the events themselves.

Another fave:

the "clawing and covetous Castillos". Wow. The more we learn, the more disgusting this couple is. Evidently René has to be de-loused and sprayed with disinfectant before his lovely spouse will even let him touch her. Well, enough of those two....

The Funk Family. At least this time, the daughter seemed to be saying appropriate and reasonable things in a calm manner to both her dad and mother. Otherwise, just depressing to think that two people who once loved each other enough to marry and have a child, could end up treating each other so shabbily. And a pox on the disloyal sister as well.

Well, this one was a tough one to watch. Sounds like Diego is going to get fired, and the bad debt situation is still not resolved. Lots of male pride at stake here, both with Daniel's father and the poor fellow who wanted a doctor hombre to examine him. We ladies have had to make do with a lot of male ob-gyns in our time, but still....I do understand.

Thanks LILA. You made a bitter pill go down easy with your lively way of writing. Sure helps.

MEDICOS

Diana, "Did anyone think that Rafa might be going through withdrawal and might need some help?" Yes, I did! I also wondered why he isn't in a rehab center; how could a doctor expect him to do this on his own?

MEDICOS

How nice to find you on the Patio during my break, Diana! Ay! What a day!

Oh, no! Would Andres do this: I agree Urban, Andres has an ulterior motive and I think it is to separate Cin from her medical career - pronto.

Poor Cinthia! Separated from her Rafa and now Mommy and Daddy Dearest descend upon her!

ITA here on Pam, Diana: Don’t give up hope Pamela! You are a sweetheart and very worthy. We’re just not quite sure yet that he is.

Does Art need a relationship where one of the parties is begging the other to stay with them? Sound familiar? With Regina, he would be the beggar, if she would put up with that. And, thankfully, she wouldn't!

Yeppers on this! I suspect Luis and family will have to bear Paulina but I hope he will be able to contain his yearning, completely smitten expressions in front of his wife. I fear his resistance will be futile.

Diana, I summarized the Gonzalo attack because, YES, it was painful. I couldn't stand to listen to it again and interpret what the US said to him. It was AWFUL!

Yes, my Rafa! He does know a lot about drugs, from both sides of the "bed," but he is only human. I hope his withdrawal is more emotional/psychological than physiological. Pobrecito!

Gracias, Diana!

Medicos. Another first-rate recap, Lila, in my opinion better than the episode itself. I thought Susana was an idiot not to allow Paulina to treat Gabriel immediately. Her son's life is at stake, for heaven's sake! Oh well, I guess it's a way to up the suspense even more on Gabriel's condition.

MEDICOS

JudyB Getting a little chilly for sweet tea, let's heat it up and put some lemon in it! Thank you for this because I literally FF>>

The Funk Family. At least this time, the daughter seemed to be saying appropriate and reasonable things in a calm manner to both her dad and mother

That's helpful for people who did watch it. I just couldn't but that's good to hear!

Also, thank you for this, as I didn't mention it! Sounds like Diego is going to get fired, and the bad debt situation is still not resolved.

Yes, bad news for Diego and there were implications for Regina as well, weren't there? They are attacking her appointment as one of the first decisions Gonzalo made and a place that received heavy fallout from the orchestrated power and AC outage! Please fill in. Kinda missed this!

This WAS a difficult episode, JudyB! Goodness! I'm going to have to go back and rewind the Rafa/Cinthia kiss! Gracias, Amiga!

Gracias, SpanProf!!! Yah, Susana, I'm like, WHAT? Talking about egoista! Is holding on to her man who had problems with his zipper years ago more important than her son's life? SHE should've been the one to say, OK, let her treat my son under Gonzalo's supervision; you consult with Gonzalo but keep her away from us! Whatever. Boy, some of these men: can't trust 'em around women! Susana had better watch out before she is accused of being a controlling shrew and end up driving Luis right into the arms of Pulsating Paulina! She and Natalia can then form a support group or have an online advice column on how NOT to be a Maldita Mujer!

Dulce

Some heavy satire on the show last night. From Maria’s general ignorance, to Amadeo’s “let’s see each other every so when!”, to the servant girl trying to get pregnant by her boss and then Josiane and Regis planning to rob her mother of everything. Just bad all around.

DULCE

Thanks! I'm only halfway through Tuesday, didn't see Wednesday or Thursday. With two hour Medicos, I guess it's not even coming on tonight. Oh well. Nice binge-watching over the weekend! I'll makes some popcorn!

MEDICOS

No need to rewind LILA. I didn't think there was a lot of attacking of Regina in this one. Just Gonzalo. They really tripled down on him in the office and now all his decisions have to be vetted by René it looks like. Also, I'm worried that Daniel doesn't have enough to pay off his dad's debt. I hate that storyline. It's like all those poor people who get sucked into these fast "payday"loans that they can never pay off. Just depressing. And what will happen to poor Diego if he loses his job as René is insisting he do. Ugh.

Always darkest before the dawn. Hopefully tonight during your 2-hour marathon there will be a passionate David-Regina kiss for us frustrated Team David folks. There has to be something to sweeten this miserable pot!!!!!

And I think URBAN's remark about the actress playing Paulina was concerning her red-rimmed eyes. Not sure what that was about. But she looked rather haggard compared to Susana who was perfectly made up and dressed to the nines (not that anybody ever looks like that when they're holding vigil over a sick child in the hospital).

MEDICOS 47/55

One thing I neglected to mention was when Rafael put all the drugs in the wastebasket but he walked off camera with the bag but we did not see what he did with it. I started to wonder whether he really got rid of it.

DULCE

Ooops! DULCE IS coming on tonight. Medicos is 8 to 10 and on Monday Medicos takes up the 8 o'clock spot! My feelings are NOT hurt about that!

MEDICOS

Oh, JudyB! I am so happy but I won't say why!! What kinda weirdo am I that I can get so into TV shows! Maybe other people are weird, too. I'm not a movie buff and I hear about all these different shows like Game of Thrones (which is old by now, I guess) so I reckon there are a lot of people out there imbibing screen. Anyway. I feel better about tonight. Thanks for the pep talk!

Ok, so the Paulina actress has some kind of eye disorder?

Urban! Thank you for this! I had this in my notes but totally missed it. Nice catch!

One thing I neglected to mention was when Rafael put all the drugs in the wastebasket but he walked off camera with the bag but we did not see what he did with it. I started to wonder whether he really got rid of it.

Thanks! Hopefully, he'll flush those as well. We'll skip worrying about the municipal water quality. Ours is probably pretty full of drugs, too!

Médicos

Wow Lila that was amazing, loved the alliteration! It really helped give the recap a lighter feeling to this doom and gloom episode!

Going into this medical drama I knew it wouldn’t be a “rainbows and sunshine” type of TN, but y’all this keeps keeps getting more and more depressing! There’s no central live story and no side stories either! Everyone is miserable! Lol. The only person who had a happy relationship was Luis and that is quickly crumbling... ok, rant over lol.

I’m worried about Art’s mental state. He legit sounded delusional. He was talking as if he’s in a relationship.. does he really think he and Regina are together?!

About Laura Carmine’s eyes- one of her eyes is blue and the other is brown. They usually make her wear contacts to have her eyes match, but I didn’t pay attention to her eyes this time, so I’m not sure if she was wearing contacts or not

Médicos

I means central love story not love story haha

Jezus autocorrect just doesn’t like me today lol

Médicos

Missed a much needed PSA on not dumping your meds in the toilet. Or any water supply.

Médicos

Thanks, Lively Lila. Your recaps always have such vigor. In addition to the gems my Caraymates have already mentioned, I loved this ditty too:

Regina finds Diego finishing his morning ablutions in the bunk area of the common room.

Bad enough, Gonzalo is getting hammered, I sure hope he can keep Diego on board.

SpanProf, ITA "Susana was an idiot not to allow Paulina to treat Gabriel immediately." The kid is lying in a hospital bed, instead of playing soccer. Open and shut case. If Paulina has become the top Kawasaki doc in the free time that opened up when Luis ended the affair, so be it. I will compliment Susanna though on that nice powder blue double-breasted blazer.

Rgv Chick, yes indeed: "Oh I wish Tanya had seen Daniel tighten that belt and put his foot down. She may have been quite smitten by it." Up to now, I've been thinking he's just to teddy bear for Tanya, but lo and behold there's a tiger in there.

Will Cinthia's mother warn her daughter the husband is up to something? She seems basically good.

MEDICOS

UnOp! Hey, Kid! I'm going to miss you guys when this is over! Guess I'll have to join you in a watch party on another Patio!

UnOp, I hear you loud and clear and if some alliteration, dopey euphemisms for sex and silly nicknames can lighten it, I'm here for all of that!

This stands out and should be remembered: I’m worried about Art’s mental state. He legit sounded delusional. He was talking as if he’s in a relationship.. does he really think he and Regina are together?!

OMgosh! Yes! I have alluded to some possible pathology on Art's side in his relationship with Cecelia, but this puts a whole new spin on the possibility! I think you're on to something! He did almost seem crazy-happy; that's why I said he was ignoring the "friend" part of Regina's pledge to be their for him! Poor thing! I'm not going to drag him around. He had a terrible trauma as a boy with his Mother's depression and suicide, then a toxic-turned-tragic symbiotic relationship with a woman that eerily recalled that earlier trauma; he's got the background to be a bit distrubed/delusional! YIKES!

Re Laura Carmine, I think I heard that before! That's cute! Let that woman own her eyes, by Jove, I think that's beautiful!

Central live story works fine, too, UnOp! Thank you for your always lively and astute comments!

MEDICOS

Lively Lila! I kinda Like that! Hey, Niecie!!!

The juxtaposition of sentiments and observations in this is HILARIOUS, thank you!:

The kid is lying in a hospital bed, instead of playing soccer. Open and shut case. If Paulina has become the top Kawasaki doc in the free time that opened up when Luis ended the affair, so be it. I will compliment Susanna though on that nice powder blue double-breasted blazer.

Patricia was NOT buying that load of crap Rene was selling. She may be kinda OK with Constanza, but I sense she knows Rene is full of it!

Maybe we'll get the Gala tonight and some kind of gosh-awful-funny-embarrasing moment for the crass Castillos. Oh, no! I just thought, will it be something all our beloved Docs go to or something for the rich and hoitey-toitey?

Two hours! This is gonna be gooooood!

MEDICOS

Niecie, Cinthia's mom IS a good person, but she also believes Cinthia shouldn't be a doctor. Not because she wants her to run the family business, but because she just never got over the fact that her little doll that she used to take out and dress up and play with, then put away until next time, has actually grown up to be an independent, grown woman with a mind of her own and plans for her own life and future. She may not agree with the manner in which her husband does things, but she won't interfere with him. I don't believe she'll say anything to Cinthia, but I hope I'm wrong.

Médicos

I don’t think this is a spoiler because it’s my speculation, but someone can delete this if you consider it a spoiler..

There is an commercial on Univision advertising their “fall line-up” and it has some clips of the novelas, including Médicos. It shows Regina in a long red dress as well as David and Art in a suit and bow tie. I imagine it’s this “gala” they’re alluding to because what else would the doctors get so dressed up for? Certainly not anyone’s wedding because no one is in a relationship!! Haha

Medicos

Late to the party again ....busy day. However, thank you , Li la, for another fabulous lilacap.

Let's see what happens tonight as we are tested to two hours of drama and deceit .

Not tested....treated ...but maybe Lila will give us a test...maybe a pop quiz . I hated pop quizzes and never , ever gave them when I taught.

MEDICOS

There she is! Hey, Susanlynn!!!! I promise! No tests or quizzes but I do always ask you guys to fill in stuff I missed or couldn't stand to cover and you all pass with 100%! HA HA HA AH AH!

Yes, two hours of drama and deceit and they'd better throw some lovin' in there, too! UnOP I cover my eyes for previews but I did see something accidentally that I liked. I think the policy is not to discuss previews so shhhhh! 😃

MEDICOS

Here is a vid of Laura Carmine witha close-ups of her eyes. This condition is not common but does not affect vision. David Bowie had it and I've seen it on animals. It's a show feature for some breeds of cats.

MEDICOS

Thanks, Urban! That's fascinating, and I think it's beautiful as well!

Urban, you and all the other Peeps have a good morning. On Saturdays I post in the afternoon. See ya!

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20 FIRST HALF

Hola, Peeps! Hope and pray everyone is well! Welcome to the Medicos Patio where all are welcome, even lurkers, though typing or swiping a few keys is even more welcome! Add, expand, correct. Y’all know I mean it too. I invite anyone interested to summarize the story line of Natalia, et.al., which also warrants a Sensitivity Alert. Vamanos!

Essentially, we have a couple of very intense days for our friends; both inside and outside the Instituto. Scenes alternate between night and day so, no doubt an artifact of editing, but I’ll try to stitch things together so it makes sense and is more enjoyable. We start with a reprise of Gonzalo warning Rene that if he finds out Rene has sabotaged him in his work, it will not end there! Rene goes back to his office and shares the good news with Miryea. He now has a direct line of communication to the Subsecretary of Health AND he has gained Montesinos confidence as well. He cautions her to stay sharp and observe everything that goes on in the hospital; the end of the reign of Dr. Gonzalo Olmedo is near! Oral sliming ensues.

This fine morning Paco is drawing customers into his little café. Elena feels hopeful that they’ll make enough money to pay those guys. He thanks her; they share a besito. Later in the day, they’ve taken in some, but not enough to meet the payment tomorrow. Paco rejects Elena’s offer to hocked her jewelry and is not comforted by Paco’s insistence that he doesn’t know what, but that something will occur to him. Dejected, Elena flops into a chair and stares vacantly.

Regina, David, Art, Luz, and Ana, wait in the conference room. Gonzalo and Marta enter; he gets right to the point. He had a meeting with the Subsecretary of Health: From this point forward, Rene has absolute control over all administrative decisions of the Instituto and Rene will report directly to the Subsecretary. A general murmur is followed by objections and concerns: David says he has no idea what is involved in patient care; Luz asks what will happen to her socioeconomic studies (that determine patients’ bills). Gonzalo maintains that though this is a change in the administrative structure does not mean that they have to change the way they work. Regina wonders if it’s temporary and David says what they most want is to be left alone to work in peace. Luz adds that Gonzalo and Rene work very differently. All true, Gonzalo says but what can they do; it is a decision of the Subsecretary. David’s not done: he thinks it’s ridiculous that somebody that knows nothing about the Instituto can make such a decision that affects all of them in their daily work! Ana agrees, but if it’s an order; they have to comply. Gonzalo instructs Regina to talk to her staff and reminds her that what is most important is the care of patients. “We have to be careful with all the resources of the Instituto; we don’t want anymore problems!”

Gonzalo dismisses everyone; Regina asks to speak to him and Gonzalo calls to Luis. Gonzalo asks Luis to forgive him; he didn’t know about the affair. Last night Paulina reviewed Gabriel’s chart; she is in total agreement with the treatment and he, Gonzalo thinks it’s best for Paulina to supervise Gabriel’s care. Gonzalo understands Susana but time is of the essence and Gabriel’s needs are most important now.

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20

Luis looks at Regina, who agrees with Gonzalo. Although he never dreamed this would happen, Luis will talk to Susana; he will trust Gonzalo’s criteria and his word that Paulina is the best. He leaves. Regina asks Gonzalo how is he doing with all this Rene stuff? Bad! Bad! It’s hard for him to accept this imposition from the Subsecretary. Gonzalo worries about the wellbeing of patients as Rene has always looked at the practice of medicine as a business, Gonzalo has not: he sees it as a way to save lives, to help people in need! Gonzalo shares that Rene gave Diego as an example of his bad management and Diego will be fired from the residency. Regina protests that he’s going to pay everything back. No, that wasn’t enough for them; they want to send a message to everyone else with Diego’s firing. Regina wonders why they have to be so cruel. He warns Regina they will fire Diego tomorrow, and there’s nothing they can do. Regina wonders how everything got so complicated! Gonzalo tells her Rene is behind all of this! What? Yes, Gonzalo said he left the requisitions for the AC and lights in his office and Rene was in his office in his absence and today Rene met with Montesinos. Regina agrees all this is NO coincidence! Gonzalo says he’s doing all this to get him out of his position and he’s having his way!

Daniel’s bedside manner is as excellent as his clinical skills as he chats with Gabe about how he decided to become a Doctor from hearing his Mother, Elena, talk so highly of them; he chose Pediatrics because he wants to help children. Gabe wants to be a futbolista; they like the same team. Gabe wants to know if he will get better; he does not like to see his Parents sad. Daniel tells him to just concentrate on relaxing and let the medicine do its work. Gabe invites him to a game when he is better and will dedicate a goal to him! At this moment Luis approaches a somber Susana and tells her he has accepted that Paulina supervise and direct Gabriel’s care. She cannot believe it and Luis does a lot of pleading that this is about Gabe and their marriage is very strong and they HAVE to be united to save their son! He gets her attention and declares definitively, “I love you.” After a long moment, Susana replies, “OK.” Moments later Susana and Luis join Daniel in Gabe’s room. Gonzalo looks at Gabe’s chart; puts a positive spin on the fact that results of improvement are not reflected in the lab and calls Luis out for a private talk. Gabe asks what’s happening. Susana says nothing, they are just doing all they can to make sure he is better. In the hallway Gonzalo tells Luis that so far, Gabe is not responding to the treatment; they may have to alter the dose of his medicine. Gonzalo says now, more than ever, it is important to have Paulina involved in the case!

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20

This bright morning finds Rafa in his first group therapy session on the terrace of the treatment center. Rafa is in a burgundy sweater; his hands clutch the ultra-long sleeves as he begins. He is a Doctor, an Anesthesiologist to be exact. He knows how drugs work in the human body because he studied them and tried them on himself. Rafa hesitates but gets it out: “I have an addiction to controlled substances, and that’s why I’m here.” Humberto, the leader, and the group welcome him as having made the first step toward healing and recovery. How did he get here? A single tear trickles down Rafa’s cheek as he says he feels very alone, even when he’s surrounded by people every day at work and has many friends (he said amigas), “as a friend told me once, and I agree, that deep down I feel very alone. The truth is, the only thing I want is to feel like I matter to somebody.” Humberto asks Rafa why he is afraid to be alone. Rafa says he doesn’t think it is fear, “It’s that I would love if there were someone who worried whether or not I returned home every day.” Rafa says he has felt that way for a long time. What about his family? They live on the outskirts of the city; they love each other and everything’s ok, they just have gotten accustomed to getting along without him. Does he have a girlfriend? He chuckles a bit and says he’s had many. Humberto smiles as well but says he’s referring to a serious relationship. “No. I don’t want anyone to hurt me.” Has he tried before? “Yes, and the only time I tried, it destroyed me.” Humberto says they will start there in the next session and congratulates Rafa for making this important first step. Humberto tells him although it will be hard, he’s got the strength to succeed. The group says welcome and Rafa thanks them.

Daniel shares his worry about Gabe’s non-response to the medicine with Cinthia. He tells her a specialist has been called in, but it hurts him to see a child suffer. Cinthia tells him Gabe will recover. Daniel tells her he is also worried about his Papa; he has to help him out of debt and is thinking of asking Gonzalo if he can pick up more shifts. He leaves to head to the (patient) floors. Cinthia looks after him and a long, stressful day fades into early evening. Federico (Paco) and Elena Juarez, close their humble little café at the end of long day. It is nighttime and Paco says today’s take was pretty good but not enough to cover his debt. Apparently this is the day after the thugs made a menacing presence in the café, taking a wad of money Paco gave them and demanding the money right out of Elena’s hands. She says she doesn’t like the attitude of that tipo yesterday. As if on cue, this time three tipos appear, demanding the balance of what Paco owes their boss which includes a loan shark rate of 20%. Dissatisfied with what he gives them, the three bunch, beat and kick Paco, even when he’s down, careful to leave Elena untouched! Elena grabs her phone and calls 911 and calls Daniel. EMS arrives as she wales and cries that they hurry!

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20

We are interrupted as Rene gets home with a special bottle of wine and crows to Constanza that he has been given more power in the Instituto and now has the ear, not only of Montesinos, but of the Subsecretary of Health, to whom he now reports directly! Constanza is giddy! Oh, they must invite the Subsecretary to the Gala! Finally, he’s thinking big! She snuggles up to Rene: Finally she will have the life he promised her! Yes, that and more! They toast to a new era full of luxury! They agree they are close to their goal and have to think carefully through their strategy with the Guerreros. With such a big donation that Andres is talking about, the Subsecretary will realize he made the right choice trusting Rene! Constanza suggests Rene get close to Cinthia; learn more about her as an angle to work the Guerreros to their advantage. The how is up to Rene; does she have to think of everything? Rene says he thinks Cinthia is an Orthopedist; he’ll find an approach to her through this somehow.

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20

The long day is not over yet; Regina and David head to the common room for a break. They discuss a case the two of them worked on with Art that required a difficult surgery. As she pours herself a coffee, Regina says what a fine job Art did and what a fine Doctor he is to which David turns away a bit with an exaggerated eye roll, folding his arms. “If you would have asked me, I could’ve done it better.” Regina looks at him. “Well, I would have, but you were with Ana.” She stirs her coffee. “Are you jealous?” he asks. “David, please, if I didn’t ask you it’s because I didn’t want any more problems with Ana because SHE for sure would get jealous.” “Of course, while you work with Arturo and you must be so enchanted to be near him.” Regina looks at David as he looks down after this declaration. “Yes, I think he’s an excellent surgeon. Don’t you agree?” David turns to face Regina. “Yes, he’s a good Doctor, but I am better.” They face and regard each other more closely than they have during this entire encounter, and perhaps since the day they shared the excitement of being swept up into “the zone” when working under pressure.

Why can’t you stand Art?

Oooh! I don’t know where to start!

Why do you always have to oppose him and to be honest with you, David, this attitude tires me!

Look, I don’t and will never think like him! And lately, he’s making me feel more desperate!

What are you feeling desperate about?

Because he’s with you; that’s why!

No, no, no, no, no, no! Look, he is not with me and I have to explain it to you because of what you heard…

No, you don’t have to explain anything to me; you made it very clear!

Arturo and I don’t have any kind of relationship, David!

Calm down, Regina, you don’t have to tell me anything

No, but we’re adults and I want to tell you what happened!

You want to know something? It really gets me every time he’s close to you!

And why does that matter so much to you?

Because I’m dying of jealousy! (Regina’s eyes get wide as saucers and her mouth drops open!)

What? You’re dying of jealousy? You and I aren’t anything!

Yes, and that’s what bothers me the most because I want to be with you!

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20

David grasps Regina’s face between his hands and covers her lips with his own; he holds her so as to not let her go and allows them a breath as his lips caress hers again. He releases her face and brings his right hand behind her head. Regina’s posture softens as she yields to their kiss and brings her arms around David and meets his lip’s passionate caresses with her own. She slightly arches and leans against his right arm, which cradles her neck as they explore various amorous angles of exploration, their lips only parting to breathe and caress again. In unison, both their hands come up to gently hold each other’s face as if to ensure that their mutual sweet surrender is real. They finally break the kiss but continue to hold each other’s faces and seal this first encounter with another, briefer but tender kiss. They press their foreheads together as they speak in hushed tones.

You don’t know how long I’ve wanted this to happen.

Seriously?

More than you can imagine.

Why didn’t you tell me anything?

She looks at David, his eyes are still closed as he says he never imagined it could be possible; they are so different! He was afraid. Afraid? She asks. THE David Paredes, afraid, of what? That you would reject me, he replies, “that would have hurt me very much and I didn’t know what else I could do to show you how much you meant to me until now when words were not necessary.” He strokes her face and sighs, “I don’t know if this is right, but I don’t want to think about that.” Ok, Regina says, “this has happened, it’s something we are both feeling and I swear to you now, David Paredes, that this makes me understand so many things: Your fight with Sergio; that you’re always arguing with Arturo; and you’re always supporting me: all the time you were jealous!” David strokes her hair and smiles, “You enchant me, you enchant me!” Why didn’t you tell me? She asks, chuckling. We could have had fewer problems. “Understand me,” David says, “I’m not like that. I don’t know what you did to me, Regina, but with you I feel like I’ve never felt before. I realized at the Congress. I felt at peace and at the same time understood; because of this it hurt so much that we distanced ourselves from each other.” Regina smiles and listens attentively. “I don’t know what to do when I feel vulnerable because I’m used to being in control!” [There was a brief exchange I just could not catch]. David continues, “What’s important for me now is that you understand that what I feel for you continues to grow more and more.” Regina sighs and shakes her head. “David, haven’t you realized that I also felt something for you? We are so different but we’re always together, us two.” “And it will always be this way if you let me.” David goes in for more bonding kisses; Regina stops him for a moment. “I don’t know if this is the best time in my life…” David groans and turns away. She calls him back to face her. “Let’s try, but don’t be so stubborn; don’t be so closed. Let me get, even just a little bit, closer to you. Let’s go slowly and calmly and enjoy ourselves.” “Ok, if this is the treatment you prescribe for me, Doctora, I will follow it to the letter.” Regina smiles her relief and strokes David’s face and they draw in for another long, soul-bonding kiss.

Second half later, but feel free to jump in and discuss!

Medicos. Magnificent recap of a long difficult episode, Lila (and the 2nd one, recap to come, was just as difficult.) "Oral sliming!" Love it! This novela just gets darker and darker! What!? Natalia stabs Perla? Gabriel develops an aneurism that can't be operated on? Paco gets beaten up? Diego gets kicked out in a very cruel way? Oh nos! Also, I was surprised that Gonzalo didn't offer to help Diego find another internship, and that no one offered to put him up or give him bus fare to get back to his village--Maybe that was cut?

Médicos

Hallelujah! The novela gods heard my prayers! Haha. I can 1000% say I was not expecting a David and Regina kiss this episode, much less them two deciding to start a relationship!! I feel like maybe Univision cut some scenes recently because this seems abrupt- all of a sudden everything is ok between David and Regina and they’re dating. Whatever the case, I’m excited for it! It was about time we had some good news up in this hospital!

Wowza amazing description of the David and Regina scene Lila!! I loved “they explore various amorous angles of exploration, their lips only parting to breathe and caress again”. What a scene! I was waiting for someone to walk into that room at any second, but glad it didn’t happen!

I’ll also comment on everything else later lol I couldn’t wait with the David and Regina stuff lol. Thanks Lila!!

MEDICOS

Thanks, SpanProf and UnOp I'll comment more later, but the recap isn't done. This is just about half so stay tuned.

Gotta eat some lunch, wash some dishes and do other stuff. Enjoy THE KISS!!!

MEDICOS # 48 & 49/56 & 57 supplemental

Natalia waited outside in the hospital parking lot and when Perla came out she pulled out a nasty-looking kitchen knife, stalked her from behind, and stabbed her twice, leaving the knife behind. It looks to be in the vicinity of her liver. She screamed for help, EMTs got her onto a stretcher, Regina and Arturo came out and helped get her inside. She told them that Natalia did this. X-rays were taken before the knife was removed (couldn't make out what Cin saw on them).

After Perla woke up from surgery Valeria was in her room. Luz arrived with a lawyer from the DA's office to take her statement. Perla didn't want to give one despite this being an obvious case of attempted murder. Luz told her to call her if she changes her mind.

Valeria later met Natalia in a public place and told her that Perla would not make a statement. Natalia refused to believe this, calling Perla a liar and worse. Valeria told her mother she had better get help.

This sounds like they put 3 into 2 so I will refrain from posting the rest of this until later.

I love how hair (Regina) is teasingly twirled, everyone talks about love life In FRONT of the workers in Er..Or how they have talks in the waiting area..not professional at all. Did anyone think Rafa was GOING into a detox center with doctors to help with his therapy? What he’s doing is great, but I think he needs inpatient care. What do I know, never have done drugs ....

Médicos

Gonzalo and Regina had given Diego a chance and he was paying for what he’s done, but they barely stood up for him in front of the administrators and Rene. They gave Diego their word that he would still have his job and then completely let Rene bulldoze him later. Diego’s also homeless and Regina knows that. They don’t care about Diego.

So annoying we have to keep watching perla and the husband getting redeemed.

No way Rafael will get cured with a week’s worth of therapy. If anyone deserved the humiliating scene Rene pulled, it’s him for being so stupid to work drugged and put a patient at risk. But everyone covers up for him. So much for the patients being the number one priority!

MEDICOS

Dr. Lila, you have provided the perfect prescription to cure our ailments. A stunning recap with humor, heart and insight.

Finally! We were not thrown scraps with one small, miserly kiss! We were treated to many kisses replete with smiles, declarations and refreshing honesty. "Regina’s posture softens as she yields to their kiss and brings her arms around David and meets his lip’s passionate caresses with her own". At long last love.

"soul-bonding kiss" are what dreams are made of; "Oral sliming ensues" are the elements of a nightmare.

And Unsolicited, I also expected someone to come barging in at any moment too!

"Daniel’s bedside manner is as excellent as his clinical skills" was perfect and I enjoyed his time with Gabe. He relates so well to children. It struck me that if only he had a bit more of his parents' vivaciousness and passion. It may well be there, percolating beneath the surface. We can hope.

Luis looks like a deer in the headlights. It's as though Paulina has him traumatized and sapped him of his decisive nature and good judgement. Snap out of it.

And Rafa..."Humberto smiles as well but says he’s referring to a serious relationship. “No. I don’t want anyone to hurt me.” Has he tried before? “Yes, and the only time I tried, it destroyed me.” Ahh, so there is a traumatic back story. As some of us have said, Rafa at a day program at this early stage in his therapy seems simply not enough. I will wait to comment on the special guest in one of his scenes until you mention it in your next installment Lila :)

Poor Paco! I was surprised but relieved the thugs left Elena alone. What a devoted couple.

Diego getting fired was difficult to watch especially with Marco smirking on the sidelines. I love Lili telling Marco off. He didn't look particularly chastised but it did make a bit of an impact.

Span Prof, I agree that Diego was thrown to the wolves and no one stepped up to provide a bit of money or even bus fare!

Rene is reprehensible.

Do any Seinfeld fans remember the flashbacks where George recalled (was it his coach?)making fun of him, using a word play on his last name (Constanza) saying "can't stand ya? Well, I feel that way about Connie. She is just as odious as her husband.

I will comment on all of the other action after the finale recap is up. Lila, I cannot wait!!! Thank you.

Diana

MEDICOS

Anonymous @4:40,
you are on the mark about Rafael. No addict is cured after a week's therapy. However, it is a good thing that this point is being brought home at last. His therapy will take at least several months and will be a lot of hard work. We have to hope he will be up to it.

I like him better with his hair loose, BTW.

This therapy should have been in Pasion y Poder six years ago instead of killing off Daniela.

I don't see that Perla and Samuel are getting redeemed, but Natalia needs to pay for the attempt on Perla's life. She is obviously a full-blown controlling bitch for this to have happened in the first place; even her daughter says so.

Gonzalo and Regina do care about Diego. The problem now is that they need to cave to Rene until they can prove he is behind the HVAC and electrical problems. Whether they will catch him in the major thefts before the season is over is a good question, but I am going to guess that this season will end on a cliffhanger of some kind.

Does anyone know whether Mexico is in production now or in lockdown?

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20 PART TWO

Daniel finds Tania completing charts in the common room. He sits down; they briefly talk about Gabriel’s frustrating lack of improvement. He plugs in his cell. He doesn’t know if it’s normal or not. Tania accompanies Daniel when he is paged to the ER. Across town, Elena tries to reach Daniel on her phone without success. Paco is stabilized with a collar and loaded onto a gurney while Elena cries, “Take him to the Instituto!” Daniel’s phone lies unattended, charging while he and Tania tend a little guy in the ER with a boo boo on his head. The next emergency bursts in….Mama! It’s Daniel’s Papa! Daniel assists in rushing Paco into a bay. Cinthia joins in the examination.

Meanwhile, David and Regina, alone for the longest uninterrupted time in their entire time at the Instituto are lost in letting their lips express the long-unrecognized desire for one another, returning kiss for kiss; she caresses his face and kisses him again, gently stroking his back while he holds her close. They finally part. Regina’s eyes are still closed as David says with a big smile, “I can’t believe this is happening.” “Me either,” she answers. Still lingering in the darkness behind her eyelids and the warmth of their shared passion, their foreheads touch as the world finally intrudes. DR. PAREDES NEEDED IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. “They’re calling me. Are you going to be here?” “Yes, 24/7. I’m going to see Luis. Let me know if you need anything.” “I want to stay here some more; with you.” Regina smiles with a new brilliance. “David, you know how our lives are. I know you will be in the ER on call, but if you need anything, let me know.” “Deal, at your orders, Chief,” he says as he leaves. “Don’t call me ‘Chief’”, Regina teases. David runs back, grasps her face and plants three firm kisses and rushes away two paces and then comes back and takes her face in his hands and gives her three less prolonged but noisier smacks on the lips…she laughs as he grabs his coat and she looks at him with the joy of having unexpectedly found a treasure that’s all one’s own!

Elena tearfully tells Daniel some thugs beat Paco up for money. A cursory examination determines Paco is beat badly, needs further assessment, but has no life-threatening wounds, perhaps fractured ribs and knee. Elena is besides herself and has to be taken out to the waiting room by Tania. David enters the bay to help and learns it is Daniel’s Papa. In the waiting room, Elena learns that this is Daniel’s much cherished Tania and Tania learns Daniel has told them all about her. After finishing with his Papa, Daniel comes out to talk to his Mom, asking Tania to give them some privacy. Daniel learns the debt was much bigger than he was told. Daniel tells Elena Paco will spend the night for observation. Tania reappears as Elena cries and hugs Daniel in thanks and thanks Tania as well. She tells Elena she cares for Daniel, he is and she will do all she can to help him.

Regina sees Luis and Gabe, who is not improving. He looks weaker, more fragile and is lethargic. Paulina comes into the room and examines Gabriel with his permission. She tells Gabe they will give him a different medicine that will make him feel better in no time. Gabriel asks who she is; is she a friend of her father’s. Yes, Paulina answers, she has known his Father for a long time. Susana here’s this and has an ever so subtle wtf look on her face. Paulina steps out with Luis and Susana and tells them the medicine is fine, they just need to increase the dose and be patient for Gabe to react. Paulina says she’ll be back tomorrow and leaves Luis and Susana to have yet another no puede ser conversation.

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20 PART TWO

Rafa is back in the chilly sun on the terrace in drug rehab support group with Humberto and his new friends. Rafa shares that he had a powerful urge to use, but he thought of everything Humberto had said in the first group and he weighed that against all he had to lose and overcame the urge. What does he have to lose? His job. That’s fine, but Humberto says he’s not here to please Gonzalo, what else is in play? Rafa says there is someone, a woman he works with: “she’s smarter than me and always turned down all the passes I made at her but she always did so with a smile and that was everything to me. There’s no better way to start the day than this. And then there are my friends; I’m here not only for myself, but for them. All this is worth fighting the anxiety.” Humberto tells him he will survive. Later, Humberto talks to Rafa alone about the source of his anxiety. Rafa says he never considered himself insecure. What about that special Doctor…..Cinthia, Rafa answers. How is your relationship with her? He says they get along well and nothing had happened between them. Why? He thinks she doesn’t trust him because he has been with many women. Rafa rocks slightly as he relates this. How is his relationship with all these women? Nothing. Nothing serious. Humberto suggests Rafa may be getting an adrenalin rush from these casual sexual encounters most of which, Rafa admits, take place under the influence of drugs. Humberto tells him he doesn’t need to generate this kind of risky behavior to boost his confidence. Rafa’s voice begins to quiver as he says he’s always been this way; he learned that good guys never win. “When you give your heart to someone and they hurt you; it’s a pain that stays inside and everything you do after that is to extinguish that pain. I can’t stand it. I was engaged to someone and she left me for someone else.” Rafa has continued to rock slightly and he breaks down slowly, “Nothing I did would make her stay.” Humberto tells him he doesn’t need anyone else; he is enough. Rafa is still in that long ago pain. “When I was sincere, my heart was destroyed.” Humberto continues his self-sufficiency-affirmation line, that to people who love you, you don’t have to prove anything, just to be yourself. Rafa continues processing his pain. “I’m so afraid of failing…” Humberto drives home that this fear is consuming him and stifling him; this is the hard part of the process, this fight against himself. Rafa doubles over with sobs. It was a difficult but useful session Rafa says, as he leaves. Another patient runs up to Humberto in near panic about the incessant crying of a baby. For some reason this strikes a chord with Rafa, who listens nearby. Maybe he’s feeling less alone.

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20 PART TWO

There is a painful scene in which Diego is fired in front of the whole Attending and Resident staff. His bitter tears and begging fall on deaf ears as he is told to get his things and leave now! Everyone looks stricken, except Marco who smirks. Pam, Luis, Regina, David and Art console Diego and offer him support. Gonzalo takes him to his office and tells him this may well be one of the most important lessons he ever learns: that actions have consequences. He asks Diego not to give up medicine; that he has real talent and potential. Regina enters and joins in the support. Diego thanks them both; he will always be grateful to them. They tell him to never stop preparing himself. He gives them his ID and leaves. Outside the hospital Tania and Pamela bid Diego a tearful goodbye. They pledge to stay in touch; Diego says he knows everybody says that but he will do it. He’s going back to his village; they need a Dr. there. After many hugs and tears, he leaves and looks back and says, “Everything happens for a reason.” Pamela and Tania share a needed hug as Diego walks away. Later in the call room, pus sucker is awakened by an angry Lili. Why did he tell Dr. Castillo what she told him about Diego! He was a good Dr. Oh yeah, if he was so good, why did they fire him. Lili sternly tells him she will NEVER trust him again and stomps out. Marco realizes he’s lost a source of dirt.

The next morning Paco is still bruised and battered but Cinthia decides he is able to go home with strict instructions to rest and not resume his regular activities for a while. Cinthia leaves. Daniel continues to stand up to his Papa that he WILL help pay the debt. Later, Daniel goes to see Gonzalo and tells him what happened to Paco. He is prepared to leave the Instituto for a higher paying job. Gonzalo convinces him to stay and offers him some extra weekend shifts and holiday coverage, which Daniel accepts. In a development that will also affect the Juarez finances, Rene goes to see Luz to demand that she do socioeconomic assessments on Gabe and Paco. No more of this forgiven or reduced payment for family members of the Instituto. Either she does that, or Daniel’s pay will be reduced. Luz has to accept to assess and charge both the Galvan and Juarez families.

Regina and David have another brief moment alone after the two talk with Luis about Rene, Diego and, of course, Gabe. Regarding Rene, they vow not to fall into his provocations. They have to be united. Regina advises David he especially has to behave. Luis leaves to go back to Gabe’s room. Regina asks David how was his night. “Good. I couldn’t stop thinking about you.” Regina looks around with a sneaky smile and then kisses David on the lips. He falls back, faking a faint. Regina laughs.

MÉDICOS #48 & 49, 9-18-20 END

Finally Gabe continues to do badly: He is pale and sweating: his body is rejecting the treatment. He is bad enough that Luis examines him and does an echocardiogram. It reveals that Gabe has an aortic aneurysm (an abnormal bulge that occurs in the wall of the major blood vessel (aorta) that carries blood from your heart to your body. – Mayo Clinic.) Gabe has to go to the ICU! Regina talks to a rapidly panicking Luis in the hallway when Paulina comes in and hears the news. Regina gives her the chart. Paulina does not understand how Gabe’s body is rejecting the treatment. Paulina turns to Luis. “Luis, I have to examine him.” Luis looks at Paulina, “Paulina, I beg you, please save my son.” She answers, “We will do everything we can to save him (para sacar adelante.). Luis seems taken aback at these words, literally recoiling ever so slightly and looking at Regina. [Anybody else get the heebie jeebies with this scene?] Luis goes back to the room to tell Susana it is very grave. He explains what an aneurysm is. The dangers are the collected blood could clot, or worse it could burst. Then why not operate! The two are almost yelling! This is what they’re trying to decide. Paulina comes in and joins the conversation saying surgery is not possible as what Gabe has is a poliarteris (Polyarteritis …is a condition that causes swollen arteries. It primarily affects small and medium arteries, which can become inflamed or damaged. This is a serious disease of the blood vessels caused by an immune system malfunction. . .Healthline). Susana demands that Paulina leave the room; she immediately complies. Luis asks Susana to calm down. “How do you expect me to calm down when I’m watching my son get worse.”

THE END FOR NOW

MEDICOS

Part 2 was equally stellar Lila.

I caught little of exactly what was transpiring with Gabe (other than his situation was deteriorating), so greatly appreciate your above and beyond all encompassing explanation. "Luis looks at Paulina, “Paulina, I beg you, please save my son.” She answers, “We will do everything we can to save him (para sacar adelante.). Luis seems taken aback at these words, literally recoiling ever so slightly and looking at Regina. [Anybody else get the heebie jeebies with this scene?". Yes. Gabe's worsening condition exacerbated by the after effects of the obviously unresolved Luis and Paulina's affair is making things untolerable.

I am getting far more engrossed in Rafa's storyline than I would have imagined. He seems to have found a good group although he should be living in a facility to aid in his rehab as many of us have commented. "When you give your heart to someone and they hurt you; it’s a pain that stays inside and everything you do after that is to extinguish that pain. I can’t stand it. I was engaged to someone and she left me for someone else.” Hmmm. I wonder if the mysterious woman will reappear. I did see Cynthia Klitbo's name in the credits and was delighted to see her! Interesting, her name isn't even listed among the guests on Wiki. I hope we get to see her a bit more.

I won't even comment on Natalia's vicious attack. Just horrible.

Lila, your "Lili sternly tells him she will NEVER trust him again and stomps out. Marco realizes he’s lost a source of dirt" explains exactly what transpired. I was foolishly thinking Lili's scolding chastized Marco a bit but of course you are spot on - he would only miss the information she was "feeding" him. I hope Diego is able to get back. Somehow.

With everything running amok, I will need to be content with "she looks at him with the joy of having unexpectedly found a treasure that’s all one’s own!" Right now, Regina and David are one of the few saving graces.

Lila, despite a busy life, you always find the time to create these marvelous recaps. I can't imagine trying to do a two hour episode yet you do so. And do it so exceptionally well. Thank you so much.

Good morning and thank youDiana! You are too kind! Man! These doubles are not fun but reading your wonderful reflections on the episode and my re-telling is certainly worth it! I had a dishwasher full of dishes and, unfortunately dirty water cause, yah, it pooped out on me and...well, anywho, didn't have time to get back to the Patio after this marathon recap! Of course, it makes me think of dear, sweet, Anita as it was a double she did for this very Patio on August 29, just three weeks ago! Ah, life!

Thank you, so very much, Urban for your supplemental section on the Natalia story. I thank you on behalf of those Peeps following that situation. I thought I would spare everyone my spittin' and fussin'. Thank you!

Gracias, SpanProf and UnOp! Yes, it was an intense two episodes with blood, gore, tears, Paco getting jacked up, Diego getting fired, and a child close to death but, this is not "real life" so I can push that aside with glee and join UnOP in a GLORY, GLORY, HALLELUUUUUUUUJAH!!!! YES! My telenovios, David and Regina, got some lovin'!!! It's just the beginning, and I know they have to break up a time or two, but I hope not since this first season is way over half over and they have just now declared their love for one another and sealed it with a kiss that they will stay together as they fight the baddies! WHOOHOOO! Because Rene/Constanza/Miryea are just getting started: they're going to keep gunning for Regina and now the mastermind behind many of Rene's plots, Constanza (thank you, Susanlynn!) is going after our Cinthia through the machinations of the eeevil Rene AT her workplace! GRRRRRR! Patricia is a sharp cookie, though, and I don't know how, but Patricia and Constanza may end up in a catfight over Cinthia! And since this series doesn't seem to have a rule about Doctors not treating their family members, Cinthia may have to press her Orthopedic skills into service to help her Dad. The possibilities are endless!

When I asked earlier if you guys thought the scene where Paulina said, "We will do everything in our power to pull him (Gabriel) through this," it was weird because she was staring, almost trance-like at Luis, so much so that he actually recoiled a bit and then looked at Regina! Do you think she is purposely withholding curative treatment to....no, it's too awful but that reaction by Luis was written in there for a reason! Let me post this and then come back before I begin my Sunday stuff!

I'm glad to see Rafa is making progress! [Yes, Urban I like him better with his hair down, too. I think Rafa is beautiful!] In terms of whether he's an inpatient or outpatient in his drug treatment, repeat, it's only a novela.. The point is he is getting treatment and getting at some issues we had speculated about. Poor baby got his heart broken and decided to become a bad boy and now he fooled around and fell in LOVE!! Oh, yes!* Mi Rafa will be all right! I hope he gets healed and back in time to help Cinthia and join David and Regina to fight the good fight against Repulsive and Renegade Rene!

That KISS, Peeps! That was more than the peck on the beach at the congress and I'm sure if asked, Regina wouldn't even remember it! Ah! I enjoyed describing it! I also enjoyed that little scene later in the day when Regina stole a quick kiss and David pretended to be knocked off his feet. I bet that's a scene that's more expansive somehow and it feels like an adlib by the actor. It was super cute! Obviously, that was the highlight for me. I may think of other stuff by I hope more of you guys check in and discuss our little drama. I'll see you off and on. Thank you all so very much!!!

*I hope my link turns out OK, Man! That was one of my JAMS back in the day! Them boys are killin' it!

MEDICOS

Lila, how else can I say that your recaps are outstanding...more than outstanding! Your descriptions are so vivid and crystal clear; and your interpretations and sides make so many of the events tolerable...others, most enjoyable.

GLORY, GLORY, HALLELUUUUUUUUJAH!!!! YES! My telenovios, David and Regina, got some lovin'!!! FIIIINALLY!! A long-awaited moment is just what we needed and what a KISSSS!! That is definitely going to drown out any memory of Art's "peck." I was just so disappointed that it was overshadowed by so much misery, anger, and darkness. I'm not going to dwell on the bad stuff; everyone has already expressed my feelings about that quite well.

And oh, Rafa, dear broken hearted, Rafa. So now we know what brought him to this low place that he has to crawl out of with great effort. I'm so glad he is taking in all the wise words of the good Doc...a little surprised at how quickly he is opening up about himself, but oh well, it's just a story, just a story!

I too was very surprised at how Luis was let go and no one really stepped up to support him...other that wishing him luck.

Regarding the scene where Paulina said, "We will do everything in our power to pull him (Gabriel) through this..." Her odd look and Luis's reaction did worry me. I don't think she is planning on withholding any type of curative treatment. My interpretation of that scene was that Luis was afraid that Paulina wasn't sure about what she may be doing since she had no idea why the treatment wasn't working and that she was only trying to give him some hope. I think he is doubting her knowledge of whatever condition Gabriel has. Could it be that he doesn't have that Kawasaki disease and the treatment they are giving him is having an adverse effect due to the misdiagnosis???

DULCE

I have to agree with Anon (Friday at 1:42). Lots of heavy satire...too much for my taste. And how sad that the two storylines that interested me most (Maria/Amadeu and Fabiana/Vivi) are being dragged out. In fact, I don't recall even seeing Fabiana on Friday night. This train is lagging; que triste!

Médicos

If anything, Paulina knows Gabe will likely not make it and can’t bring herself to tell Luis that. Why would she risk losing her license and being ousted from the medical community just to get Luis back? Or even worse, withhold treatment for a child? You could tell from her reaction when she first checked Gabe that he wasn’t doing well already. She was especially worried that Gonzalo’s prescription wasn’t making any progress. She probably saw that Gabe was already a lost cause, from that first checkup.

Luis gave Regina that look because he’s questioning Paulina’s words and expertise. He doesn’t want to accept that Gabe might not make it. He’s in denial, and he will likely blame her for malpractice if the child passes away.

MEDICOS

Thank you Lila and Rgv Chick for your thoughts on the strange Luis/Paulina interaction. Definitely there for a reason.

So, she may be withholding information (which would be unfathomable and unforgiveable), emotionally blackmailing Luis. And yes, perhaps she is stumped. The Luis/Susana/Paulina triangle has many angles, with Susana's (rather righteous) jealousy and Paulina's seemingly inability to let Luis go. And then, finally, there is Luis who is seemingly so bothered and bewitched, is unable to extricate himself on his own.

Diana

MEDICOS

Anon, our comments crossed.

I did not want to think of a third (horrid) option but your case was compelling. Paulina does not want to impart dire news.

I read that 1% of children die from Kawasaki's so if Gabe were to perish, they might have given him a different diagnosis. Children rarely die in TNs, and I fervently hope that is the case here as well.

Diana

MEDICOS

Anon 11:02 ,"he (Luis) will likely blame her for malpractice if the child passes away." If he doesn't, Susana definitely will!

MEDICOS

Rgv Chick!! Thank you and bless you, Girl! I try to pick up fun where I can and this novela and you and our tight gorup of friends on this Patio are balm, I tell ya, balm to my soul!

Thank you so much for this:

I think he is doubting her knowledge of whatever condition Gabriel has. Could it be that he doesn't have that Kawasaki disease and the treatment they are giving him is having an adverse effect due to the misdiagnosis???

OMgosh! That's just as scary! What if her much-touted expertise is a sham! YIKES! Not only does poor Gabe have an aortic anyuerism, but she threw in another diagnosis which is some kind of autoimmune disorder separate, I think, from Kawasaki! Don't come for me, I ain't pretending to be no Doc, but that is BAD form the way she waltzed in when Luis was having a vigorous and emotional discussion with his wife, the child's Mother, and she comes in, picks up Luis' tone and demeanor, and throws another ailment at her! Paulina may well NOT know what she is doing! The Galvans may be boring, novela gods, but please don't let little Gabe die!

Workin' my way down comments!

MEDICOS 49/57

I think we all know that Susanna is the most likely one to blame Paulina if Gabriel dies. I wonder if this is why Laura Carmine was cast as Paulina. We also can predict that this would likely result in more turmoil in Luis and Susanna's marriage.

Which might make Luis temporarily unfit for duty, one more thing Rene can sneer at.

MEDICOS

Hey, Anon@11:02 Good points on that scene between Luis, Paulina and Regina. I hope you're right. That would be a new level of evil, even for a telenovela for Paulina to risk her lisense, etc. But, maybe she's crazy?

Diana@11:09 Your whole comment about the Luis/Susana/Paulina is on point! I tended to look at that interaction as a totally wicked attempt at emotional blackmail! I guess we'll see. Luis certainly didn't take the comment positively!

MEDICOS

Urban, what do you mean by this:

I think we all know that Susanna is the most likely one to blame Paulina if Gabriel dies. I wonder if this is why Laura Carmine was cast as Paulina.

In terms of mentioning the actor?

Medicos

Dear Lila, I am late to the party yet again, but I was savoring your lovely, lively lilacap bit by tasty bit. ..the way I used to enjoy a piece of chocolate when I was a little girl , while my sister wolfed her piece down in one gulp.

So much doom and gloom , but it is, at least, fictional doom and gloom . ( it's only a story...it's only a story..) Nobody was spared last night ...except we did get that one bright spot of that long kiss 💋 between Regina and David. i wonder what will hit The fan when Art and Ana find out !!

The biggest shock for me was Nat stabbing her sister. Geez. And Perla is not pressing charges ???

I wonder what Constanza's plan is for Rotten Rene getting close to Cinthia. Does she see Cin as a way to influence her rich parents? I don't understand how Con thinks this rich couple can help Rene .

Poor Diego got lots of hugs from Tan and Pam, but bus fare home or a place to stay would have been much more pragmatic And actually helpful . And so it goes....as we use telenovela doom and gloom to forget the real crap happening .

Where's Judy b ?

MEDICOS

OK, Peeps, up front I'll acknowledge that it may be corny and a little vain to quote yourself, but I'm not patting my own back. See below:

David about Regina: I felt at peace and at the same time understood; because of this it hurt so much that we distanced ourselves from each other. . . . I don’t know what to do when I feel vulnerable because I’m used to being in control!” [There was a brief exchange I just could not catch].

Rafa about Love: “When you give your heart to someone and they hurt you; it’s a pain that stays inside and everything you do after that is to extinguish that pain. I can’t stand it. I was engaged to someone and she left me for someone else. . . . Nothing I did would make her stay. . . .When I was sincere, my heart was destroyed.”

Two things in these true confessions from David and Rafa:

First thing: Vulnerability is as sexy as all get out! That means "as hell" for those not into old-timey sayings! I repeat, that confession is damned sexy and makes some of us want to just give our own hearts over when a man says something like that! Aiiiiyyyyyy! Opinions may vary, it's OK, Peeps.

Second thing, I think in that interaction between David and Regina before THE KISS, was her asking and him making clear that nothing happened between him and Ana at the Congress.

Medicos. Wonderful observation, Lila! Yes, it would be great if Rafael could return to work just in time to help Regina, David, Gonzalo and the others fight the evil Rene!

MEDICOS #49/57

Lila,
Laura Carmine is probably best known for the supremely vile young female villain she portrayed in A Que No Me Dejas. I don't know how many viewers will flash back to that role; it was really something. Here she was looking to get back with Luis despite his son being gravely ill.

About Constanza... She was looking for major donations to the hospital to advance Rene. Andres Guerrero's price of that will have something to do with Cinthia, who works mostly under Gonzalo and Regina. I doubt that Rene confides his perfidious activities to his wife, who can't be completely unaware that he is less than he represented himself as and less than his self-perceived potential. It would not surprise me if Andres later demands that Rene fire Cinthia, a demand he wouldn't have risked making in front of his wife. He has the power to do that now but -- unlike with Diego -- there is nothing to accuse her of.

MEDICOS

..the way I used to enjoy a piece of chocolate when I was a little girl , while my sister wolfed her piece down in one gulp....

Oh, Susanlynn! what a delicious and personally sweet comment! I love it! Thank you, Hon!

OOooh, yes, Art and Ana! They are going to go ballistic! They should hold their fire and look at each other. I know Pam likes Art, but like...oh, gosh, I am so sorry, I can't remember who said Art seemed delusional when he said he was in a happy relationship...Sorry! I'll find out...anyway, I think Art might be a little unbalanced, too and I'd rather he hook up with Ana than Pam. BUT, everybody doesn't have to hook up but yah, I think they will go koo koo when they hear about Dave and Re (as Cinthia calls her.)

Susanlynn, and SpanProf I think we're going to see Diego again, and he's going to join the Avengers: David and Regina; Rafa and Cinthia, all led by Dr. Gonzalo Olmedo!!!!

MEDICOS

Thank you, Urban! Yes, I remember AQNMD! Ok, gotcha. Maybe I was picking up that vibe. I certainly got more from it than that she wasn't sure what to do.

Thank you for that expansion of the Guerrero's utility to Rene and Constanza's plans! What you said next I never thought of and it is quite chilling:

It would not surprise me if Andres later demands that Rene fire Cinthia, a demand he wouldn't have risked making in front of his wife. He has the power to do that now but -- unlike with Diego -- there is nothing to accuse her of.

You could be right. Andres was not looking exactly misty-eyed and paternal when he said he wanted to be near his Daughter. His empire is everything to him and I wouldn't put that past him! Now THAT would be a real downer and all the more reason for a strong and sober Rafa to be there to help her. And all the more reason why we need Rafa and Cinthia's love and David and Regina's love to give some emotional balance the story out. As Diana said, David and Regina's kisses are a dream come true; Rene sliming over his wife and mistress are a nightmare! Guacala!

Medicos

Lila, I hope you are right that Rafa and Diego will return to help the good guys fight the bad guys . I wonder where Diego went after he got mucho hugs from his amigas and then made his sad, rejected departure from the hospital. Poor guy.

Good vs evil ...the never-ending tale as old as time.

Sunny but chilly here. Feels like fall.

MEDICOS

Susanlynn, Diego was returning to the only place he could, his humble little village 2 hours from Mexico City. He said he would return their because they need a Dr. and he is a Doctor. He completed medical school, demonstrated excellent skills in his brief time at the Instituto, so he can do them lots of good. And, um, they have a lot more supplies thanks to him. Residents who get fired do find ways to complete their Residency. It's not easy and it's not smooth, but it's not impossible. I think Gonzalo didn't do anything like recommend him somewhere, even in a back channel way, because he is under intense scrutiny by the Undersecretary of Health and that would not go over well for Diego or Gonzalo. Knowing our Instituto friends are decent sorts, I'm just going to pretend somebody gave him more than a few pesos off camera and Daniel gave him a big ole torta, to boo! Like he said, "everything happens for a reason!"

MEDICOS

VERY late to the party, due to computer woes, and now all I can think about is CHOCOLATE!!!!! thanks to Susanlynn's story.

But before that I was thinking quite a bit about kisses. LILA is a champ at describing them--either horrible:

"oral sliming ensues" [Mireya and René]

or spectacular:

The following line: Do you know how long I've waited for this to happen?...Well, I thought that was LILA speaking! But I guess it was David's line. Oh well. Lila and I were both impatient for that deeply romantic moment. And a lot of you were also.

The other storylines are just depressing. We've had some bad news about acquaintances around here so I don't even feel like delving into the various dark possibilities on MEDICOS, other than to be very grateful for LILA and the great Patio that has gathered around this compelling telenovela.

Wishing you all the same lovely, cool sunny day that we are having here. Watering three times a day for the new grass seed to grow and happy for a mindless chore in the midst of all this.

Lila, I feel better about Diego now. Can't wait to see how the Medicos world turns tomorrow night. I guess it will be awhile before the tide turns and the good guys start winning. In the meantime , we will have to watch creepy Rene putting and moving the sofa with his two women ..Hopefully he will be the one getting on the bus out of town.

MEDICOS

I’m finally here to leave a comment lol thanks Lila for pulling double duty. A lot to digest out of these two episodes.

I guess the main points being Diego being fired, the D&R kiss(es) and the whole Luis/Susana/Paulina thing (and Gabe, of course). I do hope Gabriel gets better. If not, Luis and Susana will have major problems in their marriage.

It certainly wasn’t fair how Rene handled the Diego situation but as noble as it was he probably would’ve been in trouble anyway.

I feel like Rafa’s recovery is being rushed....idk....will we see him back working at the hospital before the finale?

Lately it seems like in telenovela love triangles I root for the ones that lose lol for example: Nava in La Usurpadora (remake)......Arturo will be bummed when he finds out that Regina and David are together now.

MEDICOS

Out of curiosity I looked for an answer to Diego's situation, but the questioner here is more like Rafael.

Judy!Judy!Judy! Hey, Girl! GRACIAS!!! This hilarious:

The following line: Do you know how long I've waited for this to happen?...Well, I thought that was LILA speaking! But I guess it was David's line. Oh well. Lila and I were both impatient for that deeply romantic moment. And a lot of you were also.

I should have put quotations in because I did feel that way, too!

Ah! Novela kisses. My first Telenovio was Jaime Camil as Don Fernando in La Fea and he will always be the Baron of Besos because his kisses were so deliciously believeable and to think he and "Lety" did that through the barbed-wire that Angelica Vale really had in her mouth is amazing! There used to be YT videos of their kisses and the wonderful music that novela had. Most of those videos were long ago taken down but I bought the sound tract and that novela got me hooked on Mexican soap. Well, this was the best kiss since Fer and Lety and I hope they have many more!

Positive vibes to you and your friends in their trying times, Judy! Yes. Love me some mindless chores. Sounds like the ton of data I need to enter for the ole' job! Thank you so very much, JudyB!!

Hi, TF!!! Muchisimas gracias! Happy to see you! This was quite a doozy of a double, wasn't it? I hope they don't do too much more of this! I am with you expecting and dreading some drama, even craziness from Art when he sees that she and David are together. I have the feeling that he is going to feel even more possessive and entitled than we would expect from him, putting more stock in that besito on the beach than Regina ever did. We shall see! Please keep hanging out with us, TF!

Urban Gotta run for a minute. Let me look at your link when I get back!

MEDICOS

Thanks for that link, Urban! Yah. I've heard a few stories. Being only human such messes are not unheard of and people are able to rebuild themselves and their careers after these kind of self-inflicted wounds. You're right, it does sound more like Rafa. Both of those guys could have had much worse outcomes than they've had thus far. The fact that the writers picked up with Rafa immediately tells me he's coming back and I hope he'll be healed and better. Diego is not as major a character, but I feel he will be back somehow as well.

"VENCER EL MIEDO":

Gran Final tonight 6:00 PM CST.

Médicos

Lila, I’ve read your descriptions of the David and Regina scenes like 5 times already lol. It’s wonderful! Those scenes were a much-needed respite from everything else going on

Did Perla get stabbed with a knife? I could have sworn it was a screwdriver

Rafa’s treatment seems rushed, but it didn’t bother me because I assumed it meant that he was going to get all better and come back to the instituto soon

I hope they do bring Diego back, he was the most competent resident. By the way Lila, I loved your quip about his village having more supplies now haha

MEDICOS

It WAS a screwdriver Unsolicited. I had to look up the Spanish word because it was a new one for me. Natalia fished it out of the back of her car.

UnOp! Thanks, Kid! Ah, yes, love me some telenovela lovin'! I was so happy to see David finally declare to Regina. He had to literally kiss her mouth shut! The kiss continued through a commercial break and then there was that humorous peck near the end of the show. LOVEIT! Yes! We need a respite cause I'm afraid the baddies are about to run rampant!

Question ...is Imperios on tonight at 9 ? If so, will medicos be at 8?

Yes, Susanlynn...Medicos will be on at 8 pm. And if you get Unimas, they will be showing Alborada from noon to 2 pm, starting Wednesday.

Judyb...oh thanks . I am not sure I get unimas. I will have to do some day bro surfing. I would love to see Alborado again. Hope you and yours are well and safe.

The front page on blogspot has different format.
Was there a change?

SFChicaBonita, can you be more specific? I just checked and it looks the same to me.

Judy: "Rosa de Guadalupe" will be on the 6:00 PM CST slot today.
