I can do some sort of recap of tonight's episode. It's not clear what I'll be able to do for the rest of the week.
Oyku's teacher looks very quickly through the notebook Blondie took from Oyku. Her very cursory look reveals nothing, and she hands the notebook back to Oyku and tells her to behave herself. Oyku leaves, but no sooner is she out the door than she encounters Blondie again. "What's your illness?" Blondie asks. Blondie says she read what Oyku wrote, but she won't tell anyone about the illness, on one condition: "You'll do everything I say." Oyku refuses. Blondie then threatens to tell everyone how sick Oyku is. "Your father will know," she says. "You won't need to write the letter."
Ugur and Nihal are waiting for the children to come out from the school. However, the teacher comes over to speak with Nihal and hears Ugur refer to Oyku as his daughter. The teacher immediately is concerned. "What is your relation to Oyku?" she asks. He tries to claim that he's her father. The teacher tells him she knows that Demir is her father. She asks Oyku who this guy is. Oyku tells her he's a friend of her father's. Nihal is upset. She's known Ugur for three days, and he's lied about being Oyku's father. Ugur claims he's like a father. The teacher won't let Ugur leave with Oyku. She demands that he call Demir. He does so. Ugur explains that the teacher won't let him take Oyku, she insists that Demir come.
Demir is busy checking out another of the many women he dated who could possibly be Oyku's mother. The woman he's watching, Gozde, is surrounded by six little kids. He decides with that many children, she probably wouldn't have abandoned Oyku. He crosses her off the list. He then goes to Oyku's school. The teacher verifies that Demir wanted Ugur to pick up Oyku and then explains that to do so, Ugur has to be registered.
Candan is waiting for Demir and Oyku. They are late; apparently Demir insisted they get off at the wrong stop. Oyku points out that he should have asked her. She knows all the stops. They finally arrive at the cafe where Candan has been waiting for them.
Asu sleepwalks into the bar. Well, not exactly, but she seems barely awake. Just awake enough to demand a drink. As she's doing so, she remembers an incident from her childhood, where some boy was bullying her. Cemal and Demir saved her from the bully. That prompts her to order another drink.
Ugur asks someone about the guy he, Ugur, was with last night. The person he asks points to someone named Hussein, who apparently manages a store that Ugur is interested in buying. Hussein tells him there's already another buyer. If Ugur is really interested, he'll have to make a decision very soon. Ugur says that's fine, he just wants to see the store. The guy then goes off to the bathroom, where of course he calls Cemal and reports that Ugur fell for it. Cemal tells him to get all Ugur's money or Cemal will take Hussein's.
Oyku tells Candan she did very well in math. She starts to tell her other results, but Demir tells her she should be asking about Candan. Candan then tells her that she has opened a new clinic. She'd love Oyku to see it. Could she come tomrrow? It's Saturday, so there's no school. Oyku is very happy. Indeed, she's lost in thought with a big smile on her face. It turns out that she's envisioning the wedding of Demir and Candan. It's hard to rouse her from her daydream. Finally, she says, "Acepto," as if replying to the wedding vows. She's then fully awake, and she blurts out "I think you and my father should get married." Demir has a choking fit. Candan seems simply amused.
Ugur is thrilled with the empty store. It's the right size, and the location is excellent. Hussein tells him the owner needs money now. Ugur explains that he'd get 200,000 for the lot his mother will sell, so he can pay 150,000 for the store and still have 50,000 left over to stock the store. Hussein tells him 150,000 is not enough. Ugur then offers 200,000.
Demir is having money problems of his own. The bill comes, and both Candan and he reach for it. He says "Let me pay, Candan." Oyku pipes up, "But you don't have any money." "I have a new job," says Demir. "No, that's not true," replies Oyku. After a nasty look from Demir, she says, "Oh,that job." He goes to pay, blocking Candan's view of what he's paying. They leave, and I half expect someone to come running after him about insufficient payment, but that doesn't happen. Candan offers them a ride; her car is right here. Demir thanks her but says his car is over there, pointing in the other direction. "Our car?" asks Oyku. As soon as Candan leaves, Demir explodes. "Are you crazy?" he yells at Oyku.
At home, Oyku asks whether Demir is upset. Yes, he says. "I'm sorry," she tells him, "I made a mistake." She then goes on, "I dreamed of you getting married." Demir wants to know why she said he has no money and no car. He asks, "Do you want to humiliate me?" Oyku asks whether it's her fault. Yes, Demir replies, it's all her fault. Oyku then crawls into bed, pulls the covers over her head, and cries. He tells her he should have let you go to the orphanage, and regrets that he said he was her father. Oyku gets up out of bed, takes her notebook, and goes into the bathroom. Demir tries to tell her that he gets mad easily, but it passes quickly. That doesn't do any good. Oyku looks at what she wrote in the notebook and says too softly for him to hear, "I know you'll abandon me if you find out about this. Just like my aunt." She tears up the page where she's written the letter.
Cemal comes to the club and finds Asu. He wants her to come with him. She tells him she wants to finish her drink. Cemal asks, "Is it better here than being with me? Or would you rather be with Demir?" Asu replies that she's not interested in either of them. "Just leave me in peace. If you want revenge, take it, but leave me alone."
Oyku has not come out of the bathroom. Demir tells her he will sleep by the bathroom door. She comes out, gets into bed, and cries. Demir turns the light out and lies down next to her. "I forgot you're only 8 years old. I argue with you as if you're an adult. Peace? Do you want tickles?" She says no, and turns in bed to face him. He says, "I don't know anything about being a father. I never had a father." They hug.
Asu is dancing with (or at least in the presence of) another woman. Some guy comes up to Asu, grabs her, and tells her to come with him. She says no, and she hits him, knocking him down. He gets up and tries again to grab Asu. Cemal comes over and hits him hard. Cemal then takes Asu's arm and says "Let's go." [I almost wonder whether that whole incident was set up by Cemal.] Anyway, they leave. She's impressed when she sees he has a car. When they get to his place, she can barely walk. She asks whether she's in her house, She then realizes she's not in her house, and she asks whether she's in his place. He carries her to the bed, takes her boots off, and sees that she's unconscious.
Oyku tries to wake up the snoring Demir. "Get up, get up, we'll be late for Candan's." She pulls off all the covers.
Ugur is sitting in the store he thinks he has just bought (or rented?). He's delighted--the lot his mother offered to sell has been sold, the store is in a great location. "It's unbelievable!" he says, delighted. He has no idea how true his words are. But he soon finds out. Two big, tough-looking guys enter the store and ask what he's doing there. He tells them he's the owner, the store isn't open yet, but when it is, he'll give them a discount. The two guys inform him that he can't have bought the place, because they're the owners. Ugur repeats that he bought it that very day. He remembers being told that once he signs, he'll be the owner. The two guys tell him he's been scammed. Ugur keeps insisting he bought the store. We then see Hussein call Cemal and tell him, "I did what you asked."
Cemal tells a now conscious Asu that they have things to do. "I want revenge on Demir. I want him to suffer the way I suffered. First, I'll take his woman, and then I'll put him in jail." Asu is interested to hear that Demir has a woman. Cemal tells her that the woman is pretty, very rich, and amazing. He also tells her that Demir, Oyku, and the woman are like a family. Cemal asks Asu whether she's still living in the dump Demir had while he is living very well. He tells her, "I couldn't forget you, in spite of your cheating on me, in spite of your ruining my life. You have to help me. You owe me."
Oyku and Demir come to Candan's new clinic. Oyku tells her she has to pee, and Candan tells her where the bathroom is. Candan then comes over to Demir and thanks him for coming and bringing Oyku. Candan's arm is resting on Demir's shoulder. And of course at that moment Asu steps out of the building (which is where Cemal has his apartment) and sees Demir and Candan. Candan goes into the clinic and Demir is about to follow when he catches sight of Asu, staring at him. He stares back. "Asu?" he asks, as the episode ends.
Thanks for a perfect recap, Juanita.
Blondie is a devil child.
Ugur is busted! He and Oyku get “detention” ha, ha.
Predictably, Ugur lost his mother’s money. Can I have hope that Cemal will eventually return it to him?
I had the impression that Demir hid his wallet because that’s all the money (Mufide’s money) he had.
Poor Oyku didn’t realize how her words would affect Demir. I liked the scenes later at the hostel. Demir was open and honest with Oyku about his anger, her 8-year-old self and his lack of a father to guide him. This is more progress in their relationship.
Yes, Juanita, the thought crossed my mind whether that guy who grabbed Asu was a setup by Cemal.
Will Asu help Cemal especially now that she’s seen Demir?
That was some cliffhanger.
dondi356
Thanks again, Juanita, for a great recap with some good asides.
It was very sad to see Ugur realize how he'd been taken. And Hussein knew exactly how to get him to bite: insinuate that there was another buyer and that his offer was too low. And, it looks like he has no skills in negotiating, telling the guy upfront exactly how much money he has. So we can see why his and Demir's scams haven't resulting in much. When the novela began Demir hadn't paid his rent in 5 months.
Yes, Blondie is truly a bad seed. I was afraid Oyku was going to do what she said.
At least we had a Mu-RAT-free episode.
I think where Demir was low was on the tip. He said something to the wait person or perhaps to Candan about the propina being inside the folder. I suspect it wasn't nearly enough.
I hope Asu doesn't join Cemal's game. They haven't explicitly said, but when Demir talked with Ugur about her, I had the impression that he thought she went to Germany and was the one who left him. It will likely turn out that she made up the Germany story to cover up her pregnancy and lack of desire to raise his child. If that's the case, she has no reason to resent Demir having a woman in his life after eight years (probably 9 if you consider the beginning of the pregnancy).
I will put up a recap for the first episode tonight.
Falsa Identidad 2 beginning probably ends my recapping of Todo por mi Hija.
I am interested in Todo, but I can't imagine watching two and recapping two several times a week.
I don't know if there will be other recappers for Falsa Identidad 2. If not, I probably won't be doing very many for that one either.
If anyone is planning to watch Falsa Identdad 2 and haven't recapped lately or never, please know that very short, just the facts recaps are fine.
Belated thanks, dondi356 and novelera, for your great comments. I was out all day enjoying the sunshine and good air, so I wasn't able to post until now.
Both explanations you offered for why Demir tried to hide his paying so Candan couldn't see it seem plausible. And since no one did come running after Demir when he left the cafe, I assume he did pay the full amount, though perhaps not the expected tip. It's interesting, I can never remember in which countries tipping is expected, as in the US, and in which it's either included as part of the bill (e.g., France) or simply not expected. I guess in Turkey it is expected.
dondi, I agree, the scene back in the inn where Oyku and, eventually, Demir apologize to each other was good to see. As you say, their relationship is gradually maturing.
I find it a little hard to believe that Ugur, who basically makes his money illegally, has no understanding and wariness of simply scams and, as you note, novelera, no negotiating skills.
novelera, I never considered the possibility that Asu's supposed move to Germany was just a cover story, but what you say makes sense. However, even if Asu left Demir, I can easily imagine that she might be unhappy if he now has a new novia, especially one who is pretty and wealthy. It will be interesting to see whether her resentment is stronger than her feelings for Demir.
I wasn't able to watch or record tonight but if Telemundo puts up the episode online, I'll put up some sort of recap tomorow.

FALSA IDENTIDAD 2 – Primer Capítulo – Parte 1 de 4
The first scene starts right after Diego and Isabel have gotten married. As we learned in the last episode of Season 1, they are now Oliver and Lisa Dunn, living in Nebraska, and in the witness protection program. We see that there’s a LOT of snow. We see Diego calling his jefa (mother, Fernanda) and upset that she’s letting his calls go al buzón (voice mail)
We see that Fernanda and Zoraida (who used to be her housekeeper and is now her friend) are still together – in Guadalajara.
We see Mateo Corona (big Ed Yáñez) standing beside a huge monument. It’s the grave of his son Porfirio. He speaks to his dead son, telling him that he should be here putting flowers on his grave instead of the other way around. “It’s her fault you’re dead. And that your children will grow up without you.”
We hear a bedside alarm. Isabel doesn’t want Diego to get out of bed and go to work. They snuggle and kiss. She tells him she’s the luckiest woman in the world. [Whoa. Way to tempt fate, Isabel!]
Later we see Diego talking to a woman in an office. As the scene progresses, we can gather that she is a therapist connected with the FBI, so she knows his story. He says meeting with her has been good for him, but the false name game has to end sooner or later. [We see the airport scene from Season 1’s finale where they managed to get away from Mateo who was trying to get them arrested. We see what we didn’t see last time, Mateo being chased by the FBI and local police. Lots of shots, but not many people hit!]
Diego goes on telling the therapist that they arrived in the U.S. that day and are now imprisoned in this small town. And that la petacona esa (fat ass) is free (Circe).
We then shift scene to a beach. Circe is with her nanny from Season 1 (can’t remember her name) and they are doing some sort of spiritual ritual. Circe walks into the sea, but La Nana freaks out a bit when she sees two dead fish floating in the shallows.
Diego tells the therapist that he’s sure Mateo, Circe, and Alex are looking for them. And if he and Isabel aren’t prepared, nos van a dar cuello (kill us). He’s also worried about his mother. He knows that Ignacio Salas (who confessed to a crime to save Diego) is being released tomorrow after being in prison for two years. And his mother loves this man.
We see Fernanda recording something to send to Diego, saying that he won’t hear from her again. She’s going to disappear in order to protect him.
And we see Ignacio Salas, in prison, putting the finishing touches on a wooden carving of Fernanda’s face.
FALSA IDENTIDAD 2 – Primer Capítulo – Parte 2 de 4
Mateo is arriving with Ramona to a meeting. He tells the guys he’s meeting she’s his mujer. This could mean they are married or just together. There’s a grey haired guy who is an intermediary between Mateo and some customers. These guys are gringos, but of course speak Spanish. One guy wants agricultural workers and the other wants woman for sewing (sweat shops, no doubt).
Mateo describes the deal. He will bring them across, house them and feed them. They will work 18 hours a day, eat for two, and sleep for four. He asks for $20K per year for each worker. [They won’t get that much, if anything, of course.] He mentions his partners being Alex Mendez and Circe Gaona to enhance his image.
We then see Circe and Alex in a bubble bath. They’re about to get married. He obviously adores her. He assures her he doesn’t mind not having children. [Anyone remember why she can’t have children; I don’t.]
We see some poor people, gagged, in a stable. They appear to be some of the migrants Mateo is selling.
Isabel is working in a hospital. We see her in scrubs, speaking English to a co-worker who is apparently from Russia. She tells this woman the reason she’s so happy all the time is her husband, Oliver.
Diego is apparently working on some sort of road crew, driving a snowplow. He goes into a café, supposedly to get coffee, but gets a phone from a person behind the bar.
Ramona and Mateo and finishing up with the grey haired guy. Mateo then asks Pollo (a henchman from last season) what time Salas is getting out tomorrow. Ramona immediately gets upset. She tells him tomorrow is an especially important day. He barks back that, yes, it’s the anniversary of the death of his son. She replies that it’s her niece’s wedding (Circe). The grey haired guy advises them to go. It’s important to have a good relationship with Alex and Circe. It seems these two set up the border crossings for the migrants.
Mateo tells Pollo to take care of the thing with Salas. This guy is the only one who knows where his grandchildren are.
Diego watches the goodbye recording Fernanda made for him.
Diego appears to quit his job after seeing the video.
Mateo tells Ramona that a woman who’d kill her father (Circe) is not to be trusted.
FALSA IDENTIDAD 2 – Primer Capítulo – Parte 3 de 4
Diego calls his good friend Deivid. It’s the first time they’ve spoken in two years. Deivid’s wife, Gabriela, has given birth to their child, who appears to be about 8 months old. Diego wants him to be there when Salas gets out, to protect his mother. He describes Circe as he did in Season 1: trompuda (woman with fleshy lips).
Isabel’s daughter, Amanda, now has bluish hair and still a lot of attitude. The family is to go to a birthday party, but Amanda refuses because it’s the anniversary of her father’s death (Porfirio Corona). Isabel insists it’s Ricas’ best friend (Isabel’s son) and they are going. At the party Diego is restless and wanting to leave when some person wants to take picture of them. He freaks out and breaks the camera. He’s worried about their image appearing on Facebook, blowing their witness protection.
Isabel is very angry with him. He takes this moment to tell her that he’s been lying to her. He’s been in touch with his mother all along. He broke their agreement to cut off all ties. She keeps telling him to shut it. They testified against some Colombians, and the reward was witness protection.
Zoraida and Fernanda arrive in D. F. from Guadalajara.
Some guy brings Mateo a file that he’s wanted for two years. It’s an autopsy report from his son, Porfirio’s death. Inside is a photo of Circe. Apparently she’d managed to suppress this report up until now, but the autopsy shows that the bullet that killed Porfirio was fired by Circe. He tells Ramona this, enraged. He tells her that her niece took from him the thing he loved most. He says there’s going to be quite a wedding present. He stalks out, telling one of his guys to lock Ramona in her room.
It’s the big day. Zoraida tells Fernanda not to come to meet Salas when he leaves the prison.
Ramona searches for a phone.
At the prison gate, Deivid arrives and greets Zoraida fondly. ¡Ay! Fernanda has come to the prison in a cab. And the thugs Pollo sent to get Ignacio Salas grab up Fernanda instead. She gets out at one point, but hits her head hard on a curb. There’s a lot of gunfire and a car chase by Deivid, but they do get away with Diego’s mother.
We see the beautiful harbor where Alex and Circe are to be married. Some baddies from Season 1 arrive as guests, one of them called Buitre (vulture). I can’t really remember these guys' roles in Season 1, but I do recognize their faces. Buitre has on a neon shirt and horrible jacket that I’m sure he bought at Narcos are Us.
Alex jokes with these guys. Buitre tells Alex there’s still time to run! Mi ex vieja me puso los cuernos (made him a cuckold) and he’s still supporting her.
FALSA IDENTIDAD 2 – Primer Capítulo – Parte 4 de 4
Salas exits the prison with a joyful expression but finds out from Zoraida that Fernanda has been kidnapped.
Ramona escapes by going over the balcony hanging on a sheet and then goes into an office in the house to find a phone.
Deivid calls Diego, almost in tears, to tell him that he failed, and that Fernanda was kidnapped.
Mateo makes nice with Alex before the bride has arrived at the wedding. Then he warns Buitre and the older man that it’s going to get ugly. They leave.
Diego comes to the hospital to see Isabel. He tells her that he left something out before. He’s not only been in touch with his mother, he’s sent her money so she could keep moving around. He sent Deivid to watch her, but she was taken.
Deivid tells Gaby that he didn’t even tell Diego the worst of it, about how badly Fernanda hit her head and might be dead.
Rosa, in a different vehicle from Circe, gets the call from Ramona. She cuts Circe off with her big SUV and hands her the phone. Ramona tells her niece she has to run and that Mateo knows she killed Porfirio.
Mateo kills Alex and sends Circe a picture of him floating in the pool. A big firefight ensues and it doesn’t look like many wedding guests survived.
Isabel is strong. She asks Diego if he thinks she could continue to live with him if he didn’t go see about his mother. They plan to make up a story for the FBI about his going to Texas for one of the guys he works with.
Apparently Circe did love Alex. She jumps into the pool shrieking for help and calling him her love.
Mateo thought his guys were going to get Circe, but she was grabbed up by the police beside that pool.
Diego has crossed into Mexico, to Reynosa. He pays a man some dolartuchos to use his phone to call Deivid. [I love Diego’s colorful speech.] He tells Deivid he’ll be in Chilango that night [Mexico City].
The FBI guy who arranged their witness protection is yelling at Isabel. He says their phones are disconnected and their false identities have disappeared because of the stupidity of Diego.
Wow! What a superlative recap, novelera! I found it immensely helpful, if somewhat disconcerting, since it made me realize how much less I remembered about season 1 than you did. But, of course, for that reason I am especially delighted with the recap, which I really needed to follow the action.
One of the few things I did remember from season 1 was how shocked I had been at seeing how Ed Yáñez had changed from when I had seen him in the past. And I'm afraid he looks even fatter this year. Sigh.
I haven't decided whether I'm going to continue watching season 2. I was a little surprised at how much episode 1 seemed to resemble so many other narco novelas Telemundo has run in that time slot. I don't remember feeling that way so much about season 1, but then again, I can't trust my feeble memory. I often saw bits of Enemigo Íntimo2 that Telemundo showed during ad breaks during the 9 pm novela, and I always felt happy that I had chosen not to watch Enemigo. But last night, I wondered whether Falsa Identidad2 was going down the same path. Perhaps it's just that it's such a change from Todo por mi hija, which I plan to continue to watch.
Anyway, for now I'll continue to watch both shows. Even if I weren't watching Todo por mi hija, however, the 10 pm time slot for Falsa Identidad2 is too late for me to do recaps. I hope some other folks will step up to the plate to join you in recapping.
Asu? They stare at each other for a few seconds and then she takes off running down the street. Demir watches until Candan appears and calls his name. Demir goes inside the office and Candan starts to talk about it but Demir’s mind is somewhere else. She asks if he’s okay. His answer is that he will be right back and he leaves a puzzled Candan.
Demir runs down the street, looking for Asu. He spots her and calls after her but she turns a corner and disappears. Demir is in a state of shock. We see Asu heading off in a taxi, looking distressed.
At the hostel later that evening, Oyku is on the bed occupied with homework. Demir and Ugur are speaking over by the window, as far away as they can be from Oyku. Demir is relating the Asu sighting to Ugur. She’s back in Istanbul? What do you think she’s planning? Demir has no idea and he looks troubled. Oyku interrupts. She wants to know what they are talking about. No importa, is the reply from Demir. Oyku tells him it’s rude to whisper in front of others. Oyku gets up to use the bathroom. Now the guys can speak more freely.
Ugur thinks this is Demir’s chance to ask if Asu if she is Oyku’s mom. Demir shoots it down with heavy dose of sarcasm. What a great idea! I’ll take Oyku and ask her if she’s the mom. Oyku emerges from the bathroom and hears that last part. She asks, who are you asking what? She wants to know what they are keeping from her. Demir says, do your homework.
As Ugur is leaving, Demir asks him about the shop. Uh, yes, he bought it. Demir asks when he can see it. Ugur sees Oyku is listening in and takes that opportunity to scold her for eavesdropping and quickly make an exit. Demir is suspicious; Ugur must be up to something.
Asu is looking at a picture of herself with Cemal and Demir as teenagers. Flash back to Demir throwing her out of his place. She’s begging him not to do this. He doesn’t want to see her again. “Listen Demir, I love you! I know you love me, too. If you didn’t, last night...” Angrily he says he doesn’t know why he did that. "Forget this and don’t tell anybody." Get out! Asu is devastated.
Demir is walking Oyku to school. Ugur is there waiting for Demir. Demir wants to go to the store. Ugur tries to deflect, they can go later. Ugur is saved by a phone call. It’s Hakan. He has news about Asu. She’s been singing in bars. Demir says he wants nothing to do with her as she came between friends. Ugur reminds him she could be Oyku’s mom.
Demir wants to go to the store. He asks Ugur why he always changes the subject. Take me to the store now!
Mercan is handing out invites to his birthday party. He gives one to Oyku and she is happy to receive it. Blondie shows up to spoil the fun. She wonders if Oyku has ever been to a birthday party or if she even has nice clothes to wear. Mercan interjects but Blondie continues, I hope you don’t go to the party with your uniform and those shoes. Blondie takes an invite from Mercan and walks away. (I’d love to stick out my foot and trip this girl in the aisle!)
Ugur and Demir arrive at the store. The for sale signs are still up. Ugur forgot to remove them. Demir asks to go in. Later, says Ugur, I don’t have the keys. Demir demands the truth. Ugur has no choice but to admit he was scammed. Ugur gives Demir the rundown. Demir gives Ugur a dressing-down.
Cemal shows up at Asu’s. She tells Cemal she’s leaving. She can’t get over what happened years ago with Demir, that girl, Cemal. Cemal asks her what happened? She saw Demir. He sees how bad she feels and he promises her he will destroy Demir. Asu says, do what you want but leave me out of it. Cemal wants Asu to take the girl away from Demir. What?!
dondi356
Cemal continues, you will take the girl, he will suffer. She asks, is this why you wanted to know if you were the father? Asu won’t do it. She doesn’t want kids. She can’t care for her and he can’t force her. Cemal doesn’t care what she does with the girl. She can take her to the orphanage for all he cares. Orphanage? Asu blows up. Leave me alone! Get out! What are you going to do Cemal? Kill me? Go ahead! He leaves.
Asu flashes back to the day her mom dropped her off at the orphanage. She didn’t want to go in but her mother tells her she can’t care for her anymore. Does she want to live on the street? That’s fine with Asu. Her mother tells her something horrible: “I don’t love you. I don’t want you. Now go.” Wow. Her mom doesn’t even accompany her in, just stands and watches by the gate.
Demir and Ugur show up at the tea house looking for the realtor who sold the store to Ugur. No surprise he’s not there. They ask the owner for info on the man. He’s got nothing. What to do now?
At recess, Mercan and Oyku talk. Blondie shows up and orders Oyku to get her a tost (a type of turkish sandwich). Mercan says, why don’t you get it yourself? Blondie warns him to stay out of it. Oyku remembers she must comply or else be outed. Mercan calls Blondie out but it’s useless. Oyku goes to get the tost but recess is ending. She’s late getting back and runs up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, outside the classroom, Oyku faints!
The teacher finds Oyku on the floor. Oyku is awake but unable to respond to the teacher. Teacher looks frightened.
Mu-rat is in his office. Evil doc, Ihsan, (captions have changed the name of the evil doc again) has come to see him. Ihsan asks if there is still a job opening for him at Mu-rat’s hospital. Why has he changed his mind about working for Mu-rat? The funding for research has dried up. He wants to continue to his research on Niemann-Pick. Mu-rat is willing to oblige but wants to know why he is so interested in this disease. Well, there was this patient who he suspected but she left without a biopsy. Mu-rat welcomes Ihsan aboard.
Teacher is with Oyku at the nurse’s office. Oyku insists she’s fine. No fever, blood pressure normal. Looks like she just fell. Oyku says yes, she was dizzy and fell. She’s fine now. The teacher still looks worried. She wants to call Demir. No! don’t make him worry, don’t ask him to come. The nurse agrees. (Wow I can’t believe this. You don’t inform a parent their child fainted and was taken to the nurse?) Oyku returns to class.
Teacher stays with the nurse and says, you should have seen Oyku. It was as if she didn’t recognize me. It was like this all the way to your office and then she was fine again. Teacher is worried. The nurse wants to brush it all aside. (this nurse should be fired)
Demir and Ugur go to the police station to report the scam. For them it’s like walking into the lion’s den. Demir hesitantly tells the front desk officer they are here to report a fraud. Another officer, the captain, appears. He knows them by name and asks what are they doing here. He assumes they are in trouble again since he’s arrested them several times. Demir assures him they are on the straight and narrow now.
In the captain’s office, Demir relates what happened. The captain finds this very amusing; he can’t stop laughing. The captain asks if they have any info on the culprit. No. So then, goodbye money! The police will investigate but don't expect anything. The captain laughs them right out of his office.

Meanwhile Cemal pulls up in his car. He is on the phone with someone. We hear him say Demir and Ugur will buy it; he’ll call later. Cemal sees Candan outside her clinic and goes over. (he doesn’t miss a chance, does he?) Candan invites him in for coffee. He must decline, he’s busy. Another time. Someone is watching this from a distance.
The watcher approaches Candan. It’s her brother! She is surprised and thrilled to see him. When did he arrive? She would have picked him up. He wanted to surprise her. He found her through Mu-rat. They go in to have coffee.
dondi356
Ugur is standing at the classroom door to pick up Oyku. The teacher comes out. Ugur wants to explain more about the incident the other day. The teacher says don’t worry about it. Teacher tells him what happened to Oyku. Ugur doesn’t think much of it, this happens with kids. Nevertheless, teacher asks him to look out for Oyku.
Oyku sees Ugur and the teacher talking. Oyku tells Ugur he’s got that loving face again and she warns him to stay away from her teacher. Ugur changes the subject, he heard she fell today. She brushes it off. Ugur says Oyku should be careful. The teacher was worried. Ugur sees Mercan’s invitation. Oyku asks for his help in asking Demir for permission to attend.
At the hostel, Oyku uses the bathroom and Ugur hands Demir the birthday invite. Demir blows up when he finds out it’s Mercan’s birthday. No way will she go! Ugur mentions how they were scammed just as Oyku leaves the bathroom. She laughs at the news. Then they all start laughing. Demir dumps Oyku on the bed and Ugur joins in to playfully tickle her.
Cemal is alone in his apartment. He texts Asu. Here is the address. Go see your daughter.
Candan and her brother are out having dinner. He asks her if there is anyone in her life. Yes, Oyku. What? She explains, a lot of people have come into her life recently. Oyku is one of them. She’s 8 years old and they are good friends. She has a dad, Mr. Demir. Ok, now the brother understands. No, no! She and Demir are just friends. They helped her out of her routine. The brother would like to meet them, if it’s alright.
Candan asks her brother to stay with her. In that house? How can she live there? She tells him she sold the house to Mu-rat so he could open a clinic. Brother comes clean with Candan. He sold the company. He has debts he couldn’t fix. He’s broke. He was going to ask her to sell the house to pay his debts. This is not a problem for Candan. She has all the money she needs and she will give the rest to him. He promises to pay her back.
Oyku tells Demir she is going to Mercan’s party. No way says Demir and besides you employed Ugur to get me to let you go. Did you think I loved him more than you? Oyku asks if Demir loves her more than he loves Ugur. Don’t change the subject. You are not going to the party. Demir wants to know why she’s so interested in this party. Well, all of her classmates are going. Demir is irritated and asks, if your classmates wanted to jump out a window (In my case, my parents mentioned the Brooklyn Bridge) would you do it too? They argue back and forth. While they continue to argue, we get a shot of Asu standing outside their hostel.
And we are out.

Sorry I haven't had time to see the episode yet. Wednesdays are my days to physically report to my office so I had to do all my Caray stuff over lunchtime and I devoted it to Hija.
novelera, thanks for doing the primer capitulo recap. I'll watch the ep and read the recap when I get home this evening.
dondi356
Wonderful recap, dondi356! Thanks very, very much! You captured everything, and I loved your asides (esp. the one about the Brooklyn Bridge, since I remember my mother saying the same thing!).
And yes, the nurse seemed quite irresponsible. I was actually quite surprised. I've seen that sort of cavalier disregard occasionally from doctors, but not from nurses.
Clearly you're a nicer person than I am. I wouldn't have been content just tripping Blondie! :-)
Great recap, dondi! Lots of good snark.
It appears they're going to drag out the reveal of Oyku's illness until she falls into a coma.
I think the Turkish writers/directors took lessons from Univisión on delayed gratification. A cliffhanger a day keeps the satisfaction away.
I doubt Asu will go in.
I could have slapped that ancient police captain. I know he's witnessed bad behavior from them before, but that constant laughing when they tried to convince him they were "going straight" bugged me.
I was happy to see Asu's reaction to Cemal's suggestion she pretend to want Oyku and then dump her at an orphanage after she's caused Demir pain.
I know we can't expect realism in TNs but the car dealer Cemal saved from evil thugs in prison has given him a place to live, a car, and very nice furnishings for the apartment. I suppose we have to assume he's giving him some sort of salary as well because he seems to have money and doesn't do anything but plot revenge.
Poor Candan. The brother seems nice, but it seems like he would never have come back to Turkey and contacted her if he hadn't gone broke. Speaking of going broke, it's a bit confusing what he was doing before. I thought he was a doctor in the US, like Murat. Their father gave him "the business" which I assumed was a Turkish enterprise. Why doesn't he take over the reins and pay himself a salary? It's infuriating that he now expects her to give him what she inherited.
I agree with your virtual leg tripping Blondie. I'd like to give her a virtual spanking!
How is Demir paying for the hostel?
Juanita, you gave me too much credit. I found my memory severely lacking, especially regarding the names of other than main characters. As you know, I watch first taking no notes to get the broad outlines and then quickly go through the recording again, writing my recap on actual paper using my fountain pen. I get to be a bit virtuous when I do this because I bring home all the discarded printouts from the office recycling basket. I then write recaps on the backs of these pages that then go into MY recycling bin at home.
Anyway, I watched through once and then went to the Caray sidebar and found my recap of the finale of Season 1, skimmed it, and quickly looked through an earlier one. This gave me the names my brain had lost. This did keep me up until very late, but I'm like Dondi, going to the office one day a week, Monday.
Asu is outside. Will she go in? She stands in the lobby door and freezes there.
Meanwhile, Demir is hurrying Oyku because she will be late for school. They are still arguing about Mercan’s party. Demir reluctantly gives in and Oyku gives him a big hug. Oyku suddenly remembers she has nothing to wear. Demir says to wear her usual clothes. But Oyku tells him she needs a dress for the party.
There’s a knock at their door. Demir opens and stares. Oyku stares. Oyku and Demir stare at each other. Serious music plays in the background. It’s not Asu, it’s Candan! Demir is surprised and hopes there’s no problem. Candan is there because she is moving. She sold the house and needed a place to stay so she’s moving into the hostel! They will be neighbors, literally. She’s right next door. Oyku is thrilled. They go to see Candan’s room.
On the way to school, Candan tells Demir she couldn’t find another place right away. Besides, she wanted to stay close to Oyku. She can watch her when Demir is out. Oyku says that’s great, because Ugur doesn’t know many games. Who’s Ugur? Uh, just a friend. Demir gives Oyku look and a pull Candan will pick up Oyku later and they will visit Simsek. Demir mentions they must inform the school and Oyku drops Ugur’s name again. Demir gives her another look and a pull. Ha, ha Candan says she’d like to meet Ugur.
Oyku gives Candan a kiss and starts to walk away. Demir calls her back, won’t you give me a kiss, too? She happily obliges.
He tells Candan he picked that hostel because it was close to school. Uh oh, we see Ugur approaching. Demir tries to shoo him away because Candan is there. He pretends he has a cramp in his hand. Candan takes a look at his hand. Ugur hides and Demir feels better. Candan leaves.
Demir tells Ugur that Candan moved into the hostel. They need to be careful.
Demir and Ugur go to see Korkmaz about their “problem”. Desperate times call for desperate measures, says Ugur. Korkmaz welcomes them and asks them to have a seat. Korkmaz says he’s mad at Demir because he didn’t take the previous job he offered. So, what’s up? Ugur tells him they got scammed. Korkmaz starts laughing. Can you help us find those people? Korkmaz responds, do I look like a cop? Korkmaz can’t help with that but if they need money, he has a job for them. Demir is reluctant. He drags Ugur out before they commit to anything. Once they leave, Korkmaz makes a call--It went as you said. Ugur took the bait, but not Demir. It’s Cemal on the other end of the call.
Cemal is following Asu. She goes into the bar and asks for a drink. In comes Cemal. He wants a beer too. He asks, have you seen your daughter? Leave me alone, says Asu. Cemal demands an answer. She hasn’t and won’t see her daughter. Asu says, do I look like a mother? “I won’t take that girl even if the world blows up.” After Asu takes off Cemal says, we’ll see about that.
Candan picks up Oyku after school. They are going to see Simsek but first they must stop at Mu-rat’s hospital. Candan explains they are going there because the medicine she wants is hard to find. Candan tells Oyku that Mu-rat is a good man but Oyku says he hurt her dad. Candan realizes that, too.
dondi356
Ugur is arguing with Demir about the job offer from Korkmaz. He wants to repay his mom and he wants Demir to think about providing for Oyku.
Oyku and Candan show up in the lobby of Mu-rat’s hospital and guess who’s coming down the escalator? It’s evil doctor Ihsan. Oyku’s eyes widen; she remembers him. Oyku excuses herself to go to the bathroom just in time because Ihsan approaches Candan to greet her. Then Mu-rat meets Candan and asks where’s Oyku? Oyku peeks around the corner to see if Ihsan is gone. Murat asks if Candan has time for coffee. Yes, but Oyku objects because they must hurry to Simsek.
Ugur promises this will be the last job. Demir is angry. Ugur wonders how he will tell his mom the land and her burial money are gone. He starts crying and says, he’s the worst of sons. God is punishing him. He tried to go straight. She was praying for me and now he can’t even look her in the eyes. Demir has pity and says we will find a way to work this out. Will you take the job asks Ugur? Demir gives no answer and says he has to go.
Candan is treating Simsek. He will get better and soon he will be able to race. She tells Oyku about another racehorse, Bolt (not sure if this is a reference to Bolt d’Oro. I believe this horse also had aggression issues). Candan calls Mu-rat; she will need more supplies and will pick them up tomorrow. Oyku is a good assistant. Candan takes a pic of Oyku with Simsek.
Candan and Oyku return to Candan’s room. Gece is waiting. Candan calls Demir, Oyku is with me don’t worry.
Asu is wandering around. Flashback. Zeynep asks Asu, are you sure you will leave her here? Yes. Asu says, he doesn’t know about the baby. He will kick me out and I don’t want to go through that again. Asu continues, you should get rid of her. Send her to the orphanage. What? Send her to the orphanage? Then Asu asks Zeynep to take care of baby Oyku. Her job is to take care of children, no? And she will pay good money. Asu says, he is a rich man (what? who is this man?) I’ll pay what you want. Please look after her.
Demir enters Candan’s room. She and Oyku are fast asleep, cuddled together. Brother shows up. Is Candan here? Who are you, asks Demir?
I’m Cenk, Candan's brother. Demir introduces himself. So, you are Demir? I’d like a word. We can talk outside while they sleep. They sit outside and order tea. Cenk starts, Demir, are you aware of Candan’s situation? About our family? Demir admits he doesn’t know very much. Cenk relates that Candan has had a hard time. He tells Demir about Seda. Candan suffered the most. She blames herself for Seda’s death.
Demir thinks back to when he fixed the bike and Candan was angry. Now he understands. Demir is sorry for what they went through. Cenk thinks Candan sees Seda in Oyku. He hasn’t seen her this happy in a long time. That’s why he doesn’t mind her staying in the hostel, near Oyku. No offense, Demir. Cenk is leaving soon to return to the US. He starts to ask Demir, if he could… Demir jumps in, I’ll take care of her, don’t worry about it. We won’t leave her alone. Cenk is appreciative. They shake hands and part.
Ugur spots Asu and grabs her. She breaks loose and runs to a tree to throw up. Ugur catches up to her and she pushes Ugur away. Who are you? He responds, it’s Ugur, do you need help? She yells at him and stumbles away. Ugur says to himself, you were right Demir. She couldn’t take care of Oyku even if she was the last person on earth.
Demir drops Oyku off at school. Demir overhears Blondie bullying Oyku, if I were you and didn’t have a dress to wear, I wouldn’t go to the party. Demir looks upset. (How I wish he ripped into Blondie.) He calls Oyku back. She forgot something and he gives it to her. He looks in his wallet and he only has a few bucks. Oh no, will he consider taking the job from Korkmaz?
dondi356
Demir meets with Ugur. Let’s do it, I’m in. Ugur promises this will be the last time. Why did you change your mind? He needs the money, that's all he will say. They see Korkmaz and they accept the job. They make it clear this is the last time. Demir asks for the advance. Korkmaz shows them a folder with the details. He will be in touch.
Cemal is having coffee with Candan at her clinic. They have a pleasant chat. She gets a patient and he takes off. Cemal gets the call from Korkmaz. They took the job but Demir wanted an advance, so he gave him some money. Cemal drives off as Demir arrives.
Demir hopes he’s not bothering Candan by showing up. They sit to talk. He asks her if she’s ok. Does she need anything? He brought something for her. It’s a nazar (charm to ward off the evil eye. I have a small one.) And he wants to ask a favor. He wants to buy Oyku a dress, some clothes and shoes, but he doesn’t know what to do. Will she come with him? Yes, we can go now if you like.
Candan and Demir are shopping. Demir doesn’t even know the difference between girls’ and boys’ clothes. Candan finds a beautiful dress but it looks like a bridal dress. Don’t talk weddings says Demir Finally, Candan finds a nice dress and he approves.
Demir picks up Oyku from school. She tells him she’s not going to the party. What? You almost killed me to go. Oyku insists she won’t go. She's looking down at her uniform. Demir hands her the shopping bags. Take a look. She opens a bag and looks up at him.
And we are out.

Novelera: I see the lovely Sonya Smith is on this Telenovela, but can her character be trusted ?
Thanks so much, dondi. I love your recaps! And thanks also for the information about the nazar.
But the one who needs one is Demir. Cemal is the personification of an evil eye. As soon as Demir overheard Blondie getting in her digs about the dress, I was certain Cemal's plot was going to work.
And, when Korkmaz mentioned he'd given an advance I had the impression that he meant Cemal to repay whatever he gave Demir.
I am confused about Demir and Asu's relationship in the past. They showed him shoving her out the door and her trying to tell him something. I assumed it was the alcoholism and/or drugs that made him do so.
But, when Asu is trying to convince Zeynep to take the baby, she said that he'd throw them both into the street, so maybe there's something else that happened.
Also confused about the guy with money. If she met and had a relationship with this guy, she sure works fast. Demir threw her out before she was showing and when the baby is an infant, she seems to have a "sugar daddy". At least that's what I came away with. Of course, it's not positive that she's "with" the rich guy in that way.
dondi356, you've done it again: another marvellous, wonderful, fantastic recap! Sorry I'm so late in commenting--it's been one of those days.
Like novelera, I'm grateful for the information about the nazar. I love it that you're so knowledgeable about Turkish culture.
I really enjoyed your description of the scene when there's a knock at the door and Demir opens it. The writers clearly set us up to expect to see Asu, and you captured that perfectly.
Wow, is there anyone Cemal has not involved in his plot to do in Demir?
I was a bit puzzled by Candan's initially picking out the white dress for Oyku. It really did look like a miniture bridal gown--perhaps for one of these silly pseudo-weddings using children. The dress seemed absurdly inappropriate for a birthday party. Did the writers have her pick this dress just so that Demir could say let's not talk about weddings?
I confess that I enjoyed the silly scene where Demir is trying to shoo Ugur away and claims his arm has a cramp. And yes, I held my breath when Oyku was trying to avoid the evil doctor. It's not clear how many more times she's going to succeed, especially since the doctor is now going to be working for Murat.
