MARIANA

It was particularly hard watching this novela this morning since a rather good novela “Imperio de mentiras” took a fatal stupid turn for the worse last night. That is why I like comedies: they are intentionally lame and funny.

I did miss the first half hour or so because I was at Trader Joe’s but this is what I got:


The baby still looks like a red head.

I hope Chachi keeps blabbering about Mariana not be a Montenegro and NOW wondering why her father favored her so much.

Ha! Looks like old lewd Atilio is a morphine addict or will be soon. He had a big wad of American $$ in that drawer.

Mariana is so easily swayed by Marcia and Carol just after reconciling with Iggy? ???
It was odd that Mariana would tell Iván all about Iggy as if he were one of her girlfriends. Unbelievable.

Only good thing today: Mariana remembers having a baby.

Jarifa: Mariana sometimes isn't the most brightest lightbulb in this Telenovela because she keeps being easily put into difficult situations. I do agree with you that the only good thing is she remembers having a baby.

Speaking of that baby: likely scared to EXPLETIVE of Marcia, who hates the poor kid.


 

MARIANA

I missed seeing the episodes yesterday, but with your commentary, Jarifa, I don’t need to.

I saw today’s episode on and off, but I did see the beginning which includes a good portion from yesterday. Anywho, Candida overheard Marcia talking to baby Iggy and telling him who his real parents are. She confronted Marcia, but after a few slaps and a threat to be killed, Candida opted to stay quiet, especially since Marcia convinced her that Mariana is now a lady of the night and would be a bad influence on the baby. Later, Candida confided in the priest who thinks that the baby should be with his real parent but he is bound by the vow of confession.

Iggy bumped into Mariana at a bookstore and gave her his book of poems. Later, she permitted him to give her his explanation after which they kissed and made up. Of course, later when Marcia came to show Mariana the baby and taunted her about messing up the baby’s life, Mariana changed her mind. Carol also added fuel to that fire by telling Mariana about Iggy’s so-called passionate honeymoon.

Missed seeing Lola today ;-(

What did catch my eye today was Mariana’s dress and make-up. It was quite nice.

RgvChick, thanks for filling me in. So, Cándida really was threatened with death and didn’t just make it up. Good to know.

Steve, if that kid is scared of a Marcia, he is one smart kid. Maybe, he is already hoping he can walk or even crawl soon just to get away from her.
 

OT

“Vencer el Desamor” has been confirmed to start on Nov. 9th at 8PM (E) on Univisión.

Jarifa, how can you say the baby is a redhead? He is the absolute spitting image of Ignacio, everybody says so.

People really sleep soundly in telenovelas, amazing how Atilio could whirr in to see Mariana sleeping. The guy is really so creepy that I was very surprised when he was so lenient with Cumache. These two creepy guys are a waste of oxygen. But it shouldn't be long until Atilio starts trying to sell whatever he has to get his next fix. Then things should get interesting.

Quite boring episodes. I miss Isidro, María Lola, and Yadira, who needs more screen time.

Well, it's Friday, maybe something exciting on tap. Mariana should be all excited to find out about her baby, which is also Ignacio's.

Doris, I might give it a try too; the storylines sound pretty good. I agree with your pros and cons, especially David Zepeda 😝 I would add Claudia Alvarez to the cons...she did not impress me AT ALL in "Simplemente Maria" 😝
 

MARIANA #79/80

Andy, yes! We sure need more Isidro and Lola and a guilt free happy ending for Yadira. We are on the down slope now! I hope we get to see what Atilio does when he is desperate and his expensive habit has gotten the best of him.

Oh, no! It looked like Mariana was having a flash of intelligence but then she gave in to spite!

I did enjoy Mariana telling Iggy she STILL WAS ALIVE because it wasn’t very long for him to just “think” Mariana was dead, Didn’t knuckle head Iggy ever think that he might have to contact the authorities and ask how long a person has to disappear for in order to consider them dead and gone allowing him to marry again? Maybe this is a PSA for what NOT to do if your spouse disappears.

Ha! The baby’s hair color matches Mariana’s perfectly.

Atilio is a silent roller again. Unbelievable.

What a self righteous jerk the Camilo’s brother turned out to be!

Atilio the creeper sure got an eyeful! Maybe two eyefuls!

Shut up, Lucrecia! Mr. FFWD is my new BFF, too.

(Yawn) another uneventful but frustrating and maddening episode(s). How is it that everyone swallows all of Marcia's venom...and they lick their fingers!! Oh...it's all for the baby who may be fatherless if Iggy and Mariana reunite. Puh-lease!!

Sheesh, Mariana made such a quick turn around I almost got whiplash. She went from devastated after seeing baby Iggy and giving up on Iggy to...seducing him and asking him to spend the night!

ITA, JuanPablo was really a jerk...Yadira's dress was not that bad; I thought it was quite appropriate for the occasion.

Haha, Jarifa! Mr. FFW is becoming everyone's BFF.

doris, I may give it a try. The previous “Vencer el miedo” was way too YA for me. I am sort of meh about David Zepeda as well as the rest of the cast.

Wow, I can't believe it's Sunday already. Time flies when you're having fun, but with Covid precautions it seems like just marking time, and yet the days go by.

Anyway, Mariana isn't very observant if she's missed all Iván's glances at the mirror.

I knew from reading the comments that Father Juan Pablo was going to say something very disapproving to Yadira, but I did not expect it to be the moment she opened the door for him. What an incredible jerk he was! Not nice at all. What happened to the nice, if goofy, guy he was before?
And that dress was yummy! In no way was there anything wrong with it. Yadira is an on stage performer, she is supposed to look good and even sexy. That dress would not be appropriate for a funeral, but for when and where she wore it it was perfectly appropriate.
Maybe Juan Pablo should have a long talk with his own confessor.

Telenovela beds must really blunt the senses. It's hard to believe that Mariana was so upset that she never noticed Atilio ride into her bedroom in his motorized wheel chair and then back out and leave.

Mariana looked quite pretty in the morning, happy and with Iggy. Too bad that didn't last. Lucrecia showed up with the baby and guilt tripped her. This is getting to be like Charlie Brown and Lucy with the football. Meh.

Andy, yes, it was unbelievable that non -observant Mariana was so oblivious to a person having opened a door and moved into her space as well as Iván’s glances toward the mirror. Nothing surprises me anymore with this one. I guess we should expect the goofiest plot turns possible and be disappointed if they don’t go there.

As for time perception in the time of “Covid precautions”, I feel like I am living “Groundhog Day.” I wonder if I have said that before. Could be.
