Hija

I'll do the recap tonight.

dondi356

general

Well, Telemundo is apparently doing a refrito of ¿Dónde está Elisa?. I read that the upcoming Buscando a Frida is a remake of a remake. It was first shown in Chile and then re-made by Telemundo in 2010 with the same title.

telemundo

novelera, I wondered about that when I watched one of the previews for Buscando a Frida. I had already decided not to watch Frida, and this is just another reason for my not doing so.

I'm eager to watch La Suerte de Loli. I'm looking for something lighthearted, not dark. And in the past, I've loved Silvia Navarro, and I'm happy that she'll be playing Loli.

HIJA

Looking forward to your recap, Dondi :-) but I just couldn't wait to say how HAPPY, RELIEVED, and ECSTATIC I am!! I'll wait for the recap to explain why :-D

Hija #61 part 1

Sorry this is so late. I was busy doing a happy dance!

Slight rewind Sevgi speaking with Ilayda outside the classroom and Oyku eavesdropping.

Ilayda asks if Sevgi is upset only because Oyku is sick. Sevgi misses a perfect opportunity to let the little witch have it but instead she sweetly tells Ilayda, I’m not upset with you, dear. I just want you to be more careful. Can you do that? Oyku looks bewildered but doesn’t say anything.

Demir and Ugur leave the police station. Demir says, So Captain Huseyin is Sevgi’s father? Unfortunately, yes. What an awful coincidence, says Demir. Ugur laments, we lost the watches the money and the captain will never let me marry Sevgi. Demir tells Ugur to calm down, don’t lose hope. We will figure something out. Demir goes off to pick up Oyku from school.

School is out and the kids file out of the classroom. Sevgi gets a call from Candan. She’s not doing well. Candan asks if Sevgi is free; she’d like to talk in person. Sevgi will be right there. They meet at the coffee shop. Sevgi arrives and asks, what happened? It’s not about Oyku this time, says Candan, it’s about Demir. Candan asks if they can keep this between themselves. Don’t tell anyone, especially Ugur. Sevgi is getting scared. Demir…Demir is not Oyku’s biological father. What? He’s not her biological father? Candan says, I just found out and I don’t know who to turn to. Candan feels that Sevgi is the only person she can trust with this. Please keep it a secret, she says. Sevgi says Candan can trust her.

How did you find out, Sevgi asks? There’s a man named Ce-MAL who is an old friend of Demir’s. Sevgi has never heard of Ce-MAL. Anyway, says Candan, he was with Asu a long time ago. He had suspicions and had a paternity test using Oyku’s hair sample. Candan continues, I saw the test result. It’s real. He’s the father. I can’t tell Demir. He will be crushed if he finds out. Sevgi is gobsmacked. She repeats what she thinks she has just heard. So that man…Ce-MAL… he wants to talk to Demir and take Oyku? Candan nods yes.

Candan says she tried to get him to hear her out and get him to wait. I told him that Oyku is sick and has lost her memory, she tells Sevgi, and If he presses the issue, he might make things worse. I suggested he wait a while, but I don’t know. Candan wants to know how she tells Demir.

Sevgi thinks Candan should hold off on telling Demir for now. She says, this isn’t the right time. Maybe it’s best to wait for Oyku to recover and remember. Sevgi also thinks that Ce-MAL should talk to Demir (anyone think that’s a good idea?) Candan says it’s going to be hard to look at Demir knowing what she knows. Sevgi encourages her to stay strong. It’s important to keep Demir’s spirits up. If he falls apart, there’s nothing we can do for Oyku. We will wait for the right time. Candan agrees.

Demir and Oyku arrive home. Demir notices that Oyku doesn’t look happy. You’re mad again? Did something bad happen at school? Nothing, answers Oyku. Did Ilayda cast a spell on you? Nuh-uh. Oyku goes change her clothes.

Oyku is changed and looks for Demir. He calls to her. He’s in the other bedroom. What is he doing there? He wants to finish painting the room and asks Oyku if she would like to help. She takes him up on the offer. Remember me please, hija. Please remember me, Demir says to himself. He takes her on his shoulders to reach the high spots.

Hija #61 part 2

Zeynep is looking anxious when Ce-MAL arrives home. She tells him she is bored. She tries again to get him to let her go. That’s not going to happen. He tells Zeynep he needs her the most now. Why? Ce-MAL found out that Oyku lost her memory due to the illness. She doesn’t remember Demir, Candan or her mother. She only remembers one person—you, Ce-MAL says with a wicked smile. What? Ce-MAL continues, Oyku still thinks she lives with you. They are lying to her so she will stay at Demir’s. She is waiting for you to come get her! Zeynep can’t believe this. Ce-MAL asks, would you like to get her? She’s expecting you.

Demir and Oyku are exhausted and they’ve crashed on the couch. We did a good job, says Demir. I’m sure Candan will love it when she gets home, says Oyku. Oyku is very hungry. Demir says they should order pizza. Oyku thinks this is a great idea; she loves pizza! Demir knows and Oyku asks, how does he know? Because who doesn’t love pizza. (come to think of it I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like pizza, either)

Candan arrives home and smells paint. Oyku shows her the painted room. Candan loves it. And Oyku excitedly tells Candan, we are having a pizza party tonight! Demir tells Oyku to get ready because the pizzas are on their way. Oyku goes to the kitchen to get plates.

Demir apologizes to Candan. He knows he messed up last night. What he said was stupid. He knows it’s not his place to interfere in her personal life. She tells him it’s no big deal. It is to Demir. He tells her, you do everything for Oyku. He’s really sorry. Candan says there is no need to apologize; she has already forgotten it. They are interrupted by a knock at the door. Demir goes to get it. We see Oyku open the kitchen cabinet and we hear Demir say, Zeynep, what are you doing here? Oyku hears it, too.

Oyku calls out, Auntie? Demir wants to know why Zeynep is there. Zeynep wants to know where Oyku is. Auntie? Oyku runs to hug Zeynep. Auntie, you came; I missed you! Zeynep tells Oyku she’s taking her home. Gather your things. Oyku is overjoyed. Demir questions her; you came to get her? Yes, I finished earlier than I thought, says Zeynep.

Demir stops Oyku from getting her stuff. He turns to Zeynep, I’m surprised. You usually don’t leave so quickly. It’s been so long since you have visited. Why don’t you stay with us? Demir grabs Zeynep and gives her a big hug! Yes, says Candan, we missed you. Demir and Candan keep talking; Zeynep has no time to think or a chance to say anything. Candan tells her to sit, and get comfortable, we ordered pizza.

The pizza arrives and Candan pulls Zeynep into the kitchen. What the hell are you doing here, Candan asks. Zeynep answers she came to take Oyku and demands to know what is going on. What is this show? Candan warns, don’t even think about taking Oyku. Why did you come back for her? Hold on, says Zeynep, who are you? She tells Candan, I came to take Oyku to her real father. Wait, says Candan, Ce-MAL sent you? Oyku calls for them. They stall for more time to talk, start eating without us. Candan grabs Zeynep, I’m asking nicely, don’t mention Ce-MAL in front of Demir. He doesn’t know anything. This isn’t the time for him to find out. Oyku is very sick; she doesn’t remember anyone. Please understand at least for tonight. We are pretending we are all childhood friends. Do this for Oyku.

hija #61 part 3

Ce-MAL is in his car outside Demir’s house. He’s ticked that Zeynep is taking so long to come out with Oyku. Ce-MAL has a flashback to receiving the results. He reads: According to the DNA samples, it is determined that Cemal Eroz is not Oyku Gokturk’s biological father. Ce-MAL angrily rips up the paper. (Yay! Ce-MAL is not the father!) We see him visit someone who can forge a fake test result. To prove his abilities, the forger shows Ce-MAL a sample of his work. And it happens that the sample is the fake he did for Ugur to prove Demir was Oyku’s dad and get him out of jail.

Back to the pizza party. Oyku asks Zeynep why she left without telling her. I would have stayed outside waiting forever if Mr. Demir didn’t come. Demir says, it all worked out. So far, Zeynep has been playing along. Oyku asks her aunt if they are staying at their own house tonight. Uh-oh Zeynep says yes. Demir and Candan shoot each other looks.
Ce-MAL gets out of his car and approaches the house.

Demir accuses Oyku of wanting to run off. He won’t allow it because it’s too late at night. You are staying, he says. Oyku questions whether they have room enough for everyone. Candan says, we will figure something out. Oyku accepts this and asks her aunt to read The Little Prince to her tonight. Oyku tells Zeynep that she’s been staying in Demir’s nieces’ room. It’s beautiful and has an amazing bed that’s like it belongs to a princess. Demir is disheartened.

Ce-MAL is at the door and is about to knock but he turns away and walks back to his car.
Zeynep puts Oyku to bed and opens the book. Oyku asks, Candan and Demir have been so nice to me when you were gone. I really like them. Can we come back and visit sometime? Of course, says Zeynep, looking uncomfortably guilty, Oyku notices and asks if she is ok. Zeynep says she’s just a little tired.

Oyku thinks back to what she overheard about her being sick. She has another question for her aunt. Am I sick? I heard the teacher say that. No, says Zeynep, she must be mistaken. You are not sick. Oyku asks her if I were sick you would tell me, right? Of course, Zeynep responds and then she starts to read, holding Oyku close to her.

Demir is pacing outside Oyku’s room. What will we do? Candan tells him she spoke with Zeynep earlier and explained the situation. We can talk once Oyku falls asleep. Zeynep comes out of the room and Demir grabs her and rips into her. Why are you doing here? What do you want? You abandoned her and now you just show up? Are you crazy? Are you aware of Oyku’s condition? Demir asks her to leave now. Candan calms Demir down. Let’s not wake Oyku. Let’s sit and talk. Demir won’t sit.

Zeynep starts by saying she made a mistake. She misses Oyku. She’s been desperate to see her and she feels guilty. Demir says this is nonsense. He reminds her she abandoned Oyku. He says, you left her on the street with just a note. She had to carry a big bag by herself all the way to my apartment. And now you have regrets and came back?
It’s Candan’s turn. She says, you know Oyku’s condition. If you take her now, she will get worse. Demir exclaims, I’m Oyku’s father and you can’t take her!

Zeynep says, I’m the only person she remembers. If I don’t’ take Oyku now, she will get upset and get worse. Wouldn’t it be better if she stayed with me? Demir does not agree and he wants Zeynep to leave. Candan asks him to think of Oyku. She has been waiting for her aunt. Demir decides that Zeynep will have to stay with them. What? You have to stay with us until Oyku gets her memory back. Zeynep objects. Candan thinks it’s a good option, if she really wants to be with Oyku.

dondi356

Hija #61 part 4

Zeynep goes out to Ce-MAL. He’s angry. Get in the car and I will explain, she tells him. They didn’t let me take her. Ce-MAL didn’t want her to ask permission; he wanted her to take Oyku. It’s not that easy, says Zeynep. She’s really sick and could get worse. Even if we used the illness as an excuse, do you think Demir would do nothing? Ce-MAL doesn’t care; Oyku is his daughter and he wants her.

Zeynep asks Ce-MAL, if you are the real father, how did Demir get custody? Ce-MAL says Ugur and his lawyer forged a DNA test result. Zeynep thinks that Ce-MAL has the upper hand now and he can take her. Not so fast, says Ce-MAL. If Demir finds out now, he will take Oyku and run. I can’t say anything before the court date.

Zeynep tells Ce-MAL that Demir expects her to stay with them. Ce-MAL says then that’s what you will do. Go back and tell them you thought about it. You decided to stay so you could spend more time with Oyku. Then you will take her when you get the chance. Since she doesn’t remember Demir, Ce-MAL will tell Oyku that he is her father. Ce-MAL makes Zeynep an offer she won’t be able to refuse—money. How much will it cost for you to be her aunt again?

Demir is wondering why Zeynep suddenly came back. Candan thinks it’s out of guilt. Demir is not buying it. He feels Zeynep is up to something. Candan says Oyku will be disappointed if she doesn’t see Zeynep in the morning. Demir thinks he should have forced Zeynep to stay. All he wants is Oyku’s happiness. He feels cursed. There’s a knock at the door. Zeynep is back. She says, I couldn’t leave. I’ll take you up on your proposal and stay. I’m doing it for Oyku.

Oyku wakes up and asks for her aunt. Zeynep comes out of bathroom. Demir tells Oyku to wash up. Demir says they have to make up a believable excuse for Zeynep and Oyku to stay. Candan thinks a problem at Zeynep’s home could work, so they have to stay. Sounds good.
Demir goes to the kitchen to pack Oyku’s lunch. She only has one more dose of her medication.

Zeynep wants to take Oyku to school. Demir says tries to talk her out of it but Zeynep wins out. They leave for school. Demir wants to follow them because he doesn’t trust Zeynep. Candan doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Candan asks if Demir wants to come to the clinic with her. He’d rather not in case Mu-rat shows up. Candan doesn’t think he will but Demir begs off. Once Candan drives off, he runs to follow Zeynep and Oyku.

Mercan asks Ilayda if Oyku has arrived yet. She has not. Good, because he wants to speak to the rest of the class before she arrives. He calls everyone around. Mercan starts, I spoke to my mom yesterday. She found out something during the parent’s meeting. Oyku is sick. Another boy confirms this. Mercan continues, Oyku shouldn’t get upset or get tired. Please, can we be good friends for her? She needs our help. Ilayda is rolling her eyes as Mercan speaks. She asks, what is the name of her illness. Mercan can’t remember. He tells everyone that Oyku doesn’t know she is sick so they shouldn’t mention it. the class agrees except for ilayda who smirks and says nothing.

Ce-MAL is staking out the school waiting for Zeynep and Oyku. He notices Demir following them so he lets them walk by. Ce-MAL is careful not to let Demir see him.

Oyku enters the classroom. She sits with Mercan. Ilayda comes over to tell her that’s not her seat. Mercan nicely tells her she sits in the seat across. Oh yeah, she remembers now. Ilayda makes a crack that Oyku should go wash her face so she wakes up.

Hija #61 part 5

Ce-MAL catches up with Zeynep. He tells her Demir followed her to school. They sit and talk. She’s stressed out; she doesn’t know how long she can keep this up. We had a deal, he tells her. She tells him he’s lucky she need money. She has a lot of debts and once she pays them off, she’s going to Germany. She’s afraid she might go to jail because of this scheme. Ce-MAL says, don’t worry. He will take care of everything. Stay calm and do as I say. You need me and I need you. I want Oyku and you need the money. Isn’t it a great idea? (obviously, he didn’t think this through.) He warns Zeynep to be careful; Demir doesn’t trust her.

Demir is at Mufide’s for breakfast. She’s nice to Demir but clearly still irritated with Ugur. It’s because he left his job. Demir defends Ugur. Ugur wants to help but Mufide says no. She wants to be distracted for a while.

Ugur asks what happened with Zeynep. Demir can’t figure it out. She’s acting like she never abandoned her, he tells Ugur. This bothers him the most. Is she doing this for money, Ugur asks? Demir thinks she would have asked him for money already if that’s what she wanted.

And speaking of money…. Yes, Ugur remembers the hospital debt. Ugur has word out; they should get something soon. No, it’s not that; Oyku is out of medicine, says Demir. We get the refrain, don’t worry we’ll figure it out.

Candan meets with Ihsan. How is everything he asks? Is Oyku improving? Unfortunately, no. She tells him I know a doctor who was friends with my father. She has an appointment to meet with him and wants ihsan to consult. He asks if this is so Oyku’s case can be transferred to another hospital? Yes, and Candan wants to get things right so she is asking Ihsan to meet with them. He agrees. When is the appointment? Can we go now, Candan asks? Ihsan is not busy and says let’s go.

Math class. Sevgi gives the problem. The class gets to work. She asks Oyku if she needs help. No, she says, I can do it. All the kids finish and raise their hands with the answer. But Oyku sits there looking very confused.

And we are out.

dondi356

HIJA

Dondi, no worries, I was happy dancing right along with you! So 💃🤸‍♀️ YAYYY!! YIPPEEE!! WOOHOOO!!! 💃🤸‍♀️ Cemal is NOT the sperm donor!!!!

It always amazes me how the protags have mimimal friends; and it seems Candan has no friends to confide in. I do like how she and Sevgi are becoming close. If this has a happy ending then Sevgi and Candan might be sisters (in-law). Ugur is no catch but I still wouldn't have a problem with it.

So it turns out that Zeynep does have a (semi)conscience. I thought she was just going in and whisking Oyku out of there, so I'm glad Candan convinced her to go along with their "game" AND not tell Demir about CeMAL. Sly writers, they've slowly worked in the coincidences and made them seamless. Cemal doesn't want to reveal "his truth" to Demir for fear that Demir will run off with Oyku; Zeynep agrees to keep quiet too; and Sevgi collaborates with Candan to keep the "truth" from Demir. And I am glad because, as Sevgi advised, Demir needs to have his spirits up and he may fall apart. So will Demir EVER find out what CeMAL is plotting? Or will Oyku get her memory back, thus making it difficult for CeMAL to win her over.

Demir is on his toes...not trusting Zeynep and following her and Oyku to school.

If Candan is smart, she'll get Zeynep to make CeMAL buy Oyku's meds. Problem is that Demir didn't share that Oyku was out of meds. Hmmmm, I hope Demir and Ugur don't come up with some other cockamamie plan.

hija

dondi356, many thanks for another magnificent recap! And I'm so glad you were the one to do it, a happy payback for the very painful one you did last week. I too was doing a happy dance, and I noticed that my window panes rattled at the same time--it must have been Viewerville all shouting HURRAY!

I loved the scene where Oyku got on Demir's shoulders to reach the top parts of the wall. I was hoping with Demir that that would cause her to remember. Sigh. And, speaking of heights, I was expecting that when Oyku reached up to get the dishes from the kitchen cabinet, she'd come upon the diary. I still think she's likely to find it.

I wonder how many weeks are left. They still haven't announced últimas semanas/capítulos, so alas there's still time for more unpleasantness (will Demir get arrested for some harebrained scheme he and Ugur cook up to get money?). I'd love Rgv Chick's suggestion to come true--that Candan gets Zeynep to make CeMAL buy Oyku's meds.

Gotta run. MANY THANKS once again for this terrific recap. Yours is an impossible act to follow, but FWIW I'll recap tonight's episode.

Hija

Thank you, Rgv Chick and Juanita. I appreciate your patience in waiting for the recap. I thought about spoiling my own recap with “breaking news”!

This is like a chess game Demir and Ce-MAL are playing with each other; always trying to think steps head.

“Seamless coincidences”, Rgv Chick? Slick Ce-MAL convinced Zeynep of his paternity by telling her Demir had a fake DNA test. Technically, he’s telling the truth.

I am also glad Candan and Sevgi are getting closer. Sisters-in-law seems like a real possibility now. A nice circle of support for Oyku.

Who’s the daddy will finally come to an end once the custody case starts. Demir will get the real results and Ce-MAL will be exposed. No way Ce-MAL can win.

Juanita, I thought about the diary, too, when Oyku reached into the cabinet. Maybe the diary will bring it all back to her.

Rgv Chick, I also like what you say about getting Ce-MAL to pay for the meds.

We are in the middle of Turkish episode 23 out of 34. Plenty of time left for trouble.

dondi356

hija

I'm with Juanita and glad you got a "good news" episode. And you did a fantastic writing job with it!

Well, I think we can dispense with any thought of a good Ce-MAL hiding inside there somewhere. All he really wants is to harm Demir. He doesn't want Oyku for herself, especially since he's not her bio dad.

What we might see is Zeynep changing her mind about the deal as she's exposed to what terrific parents Demir and Candan have turned out to be. But she doesn't know Ce-MAL isn't the sperm donor.

And, yes, Sevgi is so unrelentingly nice that she can't even put a stop to Ilayda's awful behavior.

Are we so sure the court would order two DNA tests before awarding custody? And not just accept Ce-MAL's fake? Of course now we know why the writers had Demir throw away the results he got, so as to ratchet up the suspense at the end.

I had completely forgotten about the fake DNA test Ugur got at the beginning of the novela.

Todo por mi hija - #62 - p 1 de 3

The episode opens in the classroom, where all the students seem to be able to answer Sevgi's math problem--all but Oyku. She seems to struggle over it, and then count on her fingers. She finally gets the answer. Sevgi asks her to go to the board and solve the problem there. Oyku writes 4 X 7 = 28. She seems pleased, but this is the sort of "problem" she normally would have known instantly by heart.

Candan and Dr. Ihsan go to see Candan's father's friend, Dr. Ismail. He greets her warmly and is surprised and pleased when she tells him she has a step-dughter. She then explains Oyku's medical and financial situation to him. He says he'd like to help her, but Oyku's illness is very serious. He'd have to get permission of the hospital board to deal with the financial problems, and he seems to indicate that that isn't likely. She thanks him, and she and Dr. Ihsan leave. Dr. Ihsan says he'll talk to Mu-RAT again, but Candan tells him he's very unlikely to change his opinion.

Demir and Ugur are at the school to pick Oyku up. Zeynep arrives and asks why they've come. She had told them she'd pick Oyku up. Oyku comes down the stairs and asks Señor Demir why he's there. She sees her aunt and excitedly greets her. Zeynep tells her she'll carry Oyku's backpack.

Sevgi is at home with her father. She goes into another room and calls Ugur. She tells him she's not well, something happened in class today that she doesn't like. They agree to meet.

Zeynep explains to Oyku that her house got flooded--she forgot to turn the water off. Everything was soaked and ruined. She and Oyku can't go back. They'll have to stay with Demir. Until you're bored, adds Demir. Oyku replies, "I'm not bored! I've told you how much I like you, Señor Demir!"

Ugur and Sevgi meet as planned. She feels chilled, and Ugur immediately takes off his jacket and puts it around her. She then tells him that what's bothering her is Oyku. In class today, Oyku was very slow. She couldn't solve the math problem. The good thing is that the class waited for her. They did something good for their classmate. Even Ilayda. But still...she has had so many misfortunes. There's her illness, and her mother abandoning her, and her father is not her biological father. "What?!" says Ugur. Sevgi tries to deny that she said what she did, but then she says "Candan will be angry with me" and presumably she tells Ugur what Candan has told her about Ce-MAL.

Ugur bangs on Ce-MAL's door. He demands to know what Ce-MAL is planning. He tells Ce-MAL that Oyku's only real father is Demir, and he, Ugur, is her uncle. Ce-MAL of course tells him that he took a paternity test that proves he's the father. Ugur snaps back, "Who knows how you got the results!" Ce-MAL also points out that Demir has no money, and he, Ce-MAL, can give Oyku more. He insists that Ugur leave. Ugur does so, but as he's going out the door he tells Ce-MAL that, in contrast to what Ce-MAL thinks, Demir was not happy that Ce-MAL was in prison and that Demir felt sorry for Ce-MAL for years.

Ugur then calls the guy who creates false paternity test results. "Have you made a false test result lately?" he asks. The guy indignantly claims he can't answer such a question, there are confidentiality issues. [The guy seems to have forgotten that he showed Ce-MAL the false test results that he prepared at Ugur's request for Demir before the court hearing.] Ugur tells him he'll come see him soon (and to himself Ugur adds, "as soon as I get some money").

Todo por mi hija - #62 - p 2 de 3

Sevgi phones Candan, who is sitting on the sofa with Demir. Sevgi asks whether Demir is there, she doesn't want him to hear what she's about to say. Candan quickly says, "Oh yes, the dentist I recommended, let me go find my information," and she gets up to go into another room. Sevgi then tells her that she made a terrible misake, by accident she told Ugur about Ce-MAL's being the father. Candan tells her not to worry, sooner or later he'd have found out. Candan asks whether they can get together for coffee the next day. There's something she wants to tell her.

After ending the phone call, Candan asks Demir whether he has talked to Ugur today. "I talk to him every day," replies Demir. "Why do you ask?" Candan persists, "Did he say anything?" "About what?" asks Demir. "Nothing in particular," says Candan. [I think she must be catching Sevgi's witlessness, just as Sevgi ironically is becoming a bit more astute.] Candan immediately calls Ugur, but Ugur is preoccupied with the meeting he's about to have and decides not to answer Candan's call.

Ugur has come to see if he can find a way to make some money. He approaches some guys and tells them he's here to see Sabri. They tell him they'll see whether Sabri wants to see him. Soon, Sabri comes out. When he sees Ugur, he says, "Well, well, look who's here." He tells a group of men to leave him for a few minutes. They disappear. He then tells Ugur, "You've got balls coming here after what you did. You said you never wanted to see me again. You insulted me and offended me." Ugur admits that he was wrong. Sabri finally tells him that there is one job, but Ugur probably won't like it. It's dangerous. Ugur says he needs the money. He'll take it. Sabri asks whether he'll do it alone or with his colleague, Demir. Ugur pauses and then says he and Demir will do it together. Sabri asks why Demir isn't here with him. Ugur tells him Demir is finishing a job.

Ugur calls Demir and tells him he's solved the money problem. He asks Demir to meet him at the cafe, even though it's late. Demir agrees to meet him. Demir tells Candan he's going to meet Ugur. He wants to talk. About what? asks Candan. Demir tells her she's acting weird, and he leaves. Candan immediately calls Ugur again. He answers, and she tells him not to tell Demir about Ce-MAL. Ugur says, "Don't worry, I'm not going to tell him now, but later, I want to be the one to tell him, I don't want Ce-MAL to have the satisfaction."

Demir meets Ugur at the cafe. Ugur tells him, "I did something without asking you. I met with Sabri." "Sabri the torturer?" asks Demir. "Are you out of your mind?" Ugur insists that they're out of options. "We need money for Oyku's treatment. The job is tonight."

Zeynep comes out of Oyku's room, and she and Candan talk. Zeynep tells Candan that she returned because she was running from her debts. Ce-MAL found her. Candan asks whether she's helping Ce-MAL get Oyku. "Giving her to Ce-MAL is not the best thing for her," says Candan. "You're the only one she remembers. Think of her when you act."

Ugur and Demir are about to do the job for Sabri. Ugur assures Demir that it will be easy (pan comido) [when Ugur says it, often a sign of impending disaster]. Ugur gets on a motorcycle and rides off.

Oyku wakes up. Demir calls out that breakfast is ready. She comes out of her room very slowly. Demir shows her the eggs he made for her. She tells him, "I forgot something, but I don't remember what it was." She's very upset. Then she wakes up. All this was a dream, a nightmare. She comes out of her room and finds Zeynep and Candan there. She asks where Señor Demir is. "He was in my dream, and he said I'd remember. He disappeared and I woke up."

Candan phones Demir and tells him "Oyku had a dream and you were in it. Then you disappeared, She wants to talk to you." Demir talks briefly to Oyku and then to Candan. Candan asks him whether he's OK, and she tells him not to do anything stupid. The call ends. Demir has a big grin on his face. He's delighted that Oyku has dreamed about him. He has a long flashback to some of the happy moments he has had with Oyku. But the flashback ends with his insisting, "I'm your father, and not a test nor Asu nor the court nor Ce-MAL can tell me differently."

Oyku asks Zeynep whether she'll lie next to her in bed until she falls asleep. Zeynep gets into the bed, and Oyku mentions, "You never dropped me off at school or slept next to me. You're different." Zeynep tells her that then she had been too busy. Oyku also says, "You were alone, and now you have all these friends." Oyku then has a flashback of Demir yelling, "This is your house, remember?" She asks Zeynep, "Have I met Señor Demir before?" Zeynep tells her, "You're sleepy. Close your eyes." And she does.

Candan tells Zeynep that, "unconsciously, Oyku remembers her father. Once she remembers, neither Ce-MAL nor anyone else will be able to take her away."

Ugur and Demir have started their job for Sabri. Demir has been watching someone who received a large briefcase from someone else. Demir reports to Ugur, "He just got into his car. Be careful, Ugur." We then see Demir get into a car and, eventually, pull in front of the car of the guy he was watching. Demir steps on the brakes, causing the other guy to crash into the back of his car. He and the other guy get out of their cars and start arguing. Ugur comes by on the motorcycle, takes the briefcase out of the car while the guy is busy arguing with Demir, and Ugur then rides away. Demir tells the guy he has called the police. The guy goes back to his car and sees that the briefcase is missing. Demir drives off.

Demir returns home. He looks in at the sleeping Oyku. He then calls Ugur, but Ugur has turned off his phone. He tells Zeynep, "We need to talk. I need to know if you're in cahoots with Asu or anyone else. I know Asu and you, I know what you're capable of. If anything happens to my daughter, I'll kill you. My daughter will soon be better. I can feel it. Then we won't need you. So if you're planning something, stop and think twice before it's too late." And with that the episode ends.

Thank you, Juanita, another outstanding recap with so many details and added sides. It amazes me how you and Dondi keep whipping out these comprehensive recaps...and you just keep going...and going...and going. Very impressive!

Candan's and Sevgi's problem is that they can't lie...and they get very emotional to the point that they can't keep things to themselves. I'm somewhat glad that Sevgi slipped, though; since Ugur is intent on "unmasking" Ce-MAL and there are (few) moments when he does shine and have good ideas that actually work. But Ce-MAL is always a step ahead and I'm sure he figured that Demir might ask the forger if he had been there...so he probably bribed the forger not to say anything. OTOH, Juanita, you are so right; when Ugur says something will be easy, it's usually a sign of disaster.

Here's hoping that Candan's and Demir's little talk with Zeynep will have some positive effects when things get heated. She, at least, has this look of concern when they point out that how Oyku has become so attached to Demir...or when they threaten her!

Hija

Great recap, Juanita, thanks so much! And your analysis is spot on. Glad you questioned the forger’s confidentiality issues, Juanita. I wondered the exact same thing as you.

Nice to see the class taking their cues from Mercan. They waited for Oyku to finish so she could answer. Ha, ha, Ilayda complained to Sevgi but got no satisfaction.

Glad that Ihsan is being helpful. I think Demir and Candan will be forced to go back to Mu-rat’s hospital. I worry that Candan will have to play along with Mu-rat’s wishes to get Oyku’s treatment. Yuk!

I had hopes for the rehabilitation of Ce-MAL but it doesn’t look good. I hope there is an appropriate punishment for him.

Zeynep is wavering.

Yes, Ugur is in for big trouble.

I’ll do the recap tonight.

Thanks very much, Rgv Chick and dondi356, for your terrific comments.
Rgv Chick, I really liked your discussion of the similarities between Candan and Sevgi. At the start of the novela, they seemed very different, but I think you've done a great job of identifying how alike they in fact are. And yes, I bet Ce-MAL did bribe the forger, especially when he saw how cavalier the guy was in showing him the fake test he made for Demir. I think that's why Ugur said he'd come see the forger as soon as he could get some money. Ugur too will try to bribe him.

dondi356, I hope that in spite of Ugur's having said the bad luck words (pan comido), he'll manage to get away, but I'm not optimistic. I'm more hopeful about Zeynep. I think she actually does care about Oyku, whom she raised from the time she was a small infant. Moreover, Zeynep does not like Ce-MAL. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll ultimately do the right thing.

Thanks so much, Juanita. Another gem!

IIRC they mentioned that the guy with the briefcase had funds from a casino. If that was indeed the case, maybe the writers will let them get away with the theft (ill-gotten gains, perhaps, as an excuse). We haven't seen any sign that Cemal was involved, especially since the crime was offered to Ugur that very same evening.

Zeynep definitely appears to be weakening in her desire to get money from Cemal. Even before Oyku mentioned it, I was wondering about what Oyku would think of the newly attentive Zeynep, who seemed to practice benign indifference with her "niece", from what little we saw of their relationship early on.

LA SUERTE DE LOLI

I saw the promos during YSBLF and am muy interested in watching this one. Y'all might see me here in the Telemundo patio in January. (I have not been on the T'mundo patio since RdC ended six years ago.😳)

telemundo - la suerte de loli

Bienvenida, doris! I too am planning to watch this novela. Looking forward to seeing Silvia Navarro as Loli.

See you in January.

Hija #63 part 1

Slight rewind to Demir warning Zeynep, if my daughter gets hurt, I swear I’ll kill you.

Zeynep gets it. Demir lets her go. A frightened Zeynep gets back into bed next to Oyku.

Next morning, Candan wakes up and sees Demir sleeping on the couch. She covers him and says softly not to wake him, I was so worried about you, Demir. I thought something bad happened to you. Oyku comes out of her room with a bright, good morning, Candan. Shhh…Demir is sleeping. Why is he sleeping here, asks Oyku. Candan explains he got home late and probably didn’t want to wake anyone. Oops, they woke him. Oyku goes to him; she’s sorry they woke him. He tickles Oyku as her “punishment”.

Demir gets up and goes into the bathroom. He tries calling Ugur. He’s unavailable. Where are you Ugur? It’s driving Demir crazy.

Demir’s looking troubled at the breakfast table. Oyku asks what he was doing out so late? Demir says he had a job. You work at night asks Oyku? Demir goes to the kitchen to get more tea. Candan looks a bit concerned.

Demir looks at the empty pill bottle. He tries Ugur again. Voice mail. Now Demir is sure something bad happened to Ugur. Demir comes back and tells everyone something urgent came up and he has to leave. Before he goes, he asks Oyku to recite the “rules”. He says good but Oyku says we forgot something—the vitamins. He’s glad she has remembered but he is preoccupied about Ugur. He takes off and Candan follows him out. Demir? What’s going on. You’ve been acting strange since last night. Nothing is wrong but I have to go, he tells her.

Demir goes to Mufide’s. Is Ugur jome? Yes, of course he’s here. Mufide says he’s sleeping; she couldn’t wake him. She thinks he might be sick. Can I come in to check, asks Demir. Sure. Demir goes into Ugur’s room. He’s all covered up on the bed. Demir taps him. Wake up. Why are you still sleeping? Ugur says, I’m not sleeping. He’s thinking how to explain or hide his face. Demir pulls back the covers. Ugur sits up we see he’s been beaten. Who did this to you, asks Demir.

Ugur starts, I’m an idiot, Demir. The biggest fool in the world. I did the job. I took the bag to Sabri. There was a lot of money in it. We get a flashback. Ugur goes to Sabri. The thugs at the entrance tell him Sabri isn’t there but they will take the bag. Ugur objects; he wants to see Sabri. There is a brief struggle for the bag and then Ugur is beaten. Ugur says he was told he deserved it for what he did to Sabri before. Demir is angry, he wants Sabri to pay for this and he is ready to take off. Ugur stops him saying, you can’t go there. Don’t make my mistake. And think of your daughter.

Demir wants to know why Ugur didn’t call him. Ugur says he lost his phone during the fight. He asks Demir to forgive him. He didn’t think of the consequences. Demir gives him an I told you so. Well, at least they didn’t kill you. Ugur is ok but he says they still don’t have the medicine. Demir tells Ugur, let’s go. Where? To get medicine.

Candan is packing Oyku’s lunch. She goes for the meds and the bottle is empty. She gives Oyku her lunchhbox and it’s off to school with Zeynep. Candan stares at the empty pill bottle and has worried thoughts.

Ugur sneaks out with Demir. He’s covered his mouth and is wearing sunglasses. Mufide stops them. She thinks Ugur should stay home and rest. No, he’s’ going out. He tells his mom don’t worry he’s got face covered so he’s not contagious. They leave.

dondi356

Hija #63 part 2

Candan calls Demir to tell him Oyku ran out of meds. He knows; he’s buying more. How, asks Candan. It’s very expensive. She wants to meet somewhere, and they can use her credit card. She would buy it herself, but she doesn’t have the script. Demir firmly tells her not to worry. He will buy it.

Demi enters the pharmacy. He gives the pharmacist the script. She gets it and puts it on the counter Before she can ring it up, Ugur comes stumbling in. Help, help! I got hit by a car. The pharmacist goes over to help Ugur. Demir looks uncertain at first but then swipes the pills off the counter. He tells the pharmacist he will come back later and takes off.

It’s recess and the kids are in the school yard. Demir shows up. Oyku is jumping rope. He calls her over. Why are you here, she asks? Candan forgot to pack your vitamins, he says. She appreciates it but she could have taken them at night. No, it’s important she take them now. Did you eat? Take them now.

Demir gets a call from an unknown number. It’s Ugur. He’s calling from a public phone. Everything is ok. No problem at the pharmacy. Did Oyku get her meds? Yes. Ugur tells Demir he has something to do, they will see each other later. Demir wonders what Ugur is up to now.

Ugur arrives home. He’s mumbling to himself, you thought I would do nothing? You’re not getting away with this. I guess he’s plotting revenge against Sabri, not very smart. Mufide sees him before he is able to sneak into his room. She wonders why he is still covered up inside the house. He says he’s going to change his clothes closes his bedroom door behind him. He looks through an address book and gets the address to Sabri’s hiding place.

He goes to leave and Mufide catches him again. She asks where he is going. What are you hiding she asks, as she pulls the covering off his face. Mufide gasps, hijo, what happened to your face! She sits him down and demands to know what’s going on.

Ugur tells her that he’s fine but Oyku…. Oyku? What happened to my little girl? Ugur starts, Oyku is very sick. She lost her memory and doesn’t remember any of us. That’s why I’m helping her. We don’t have any money and we’re doing what we can. We had to borrow to pay the hospital, but the money was stolen from me. Ugur cries, I haven’t been a good son to you, a good friend to Demir or a good uncle to Oyku. Mufide comforts Ugur, don’t say that. Yes, you have made mistakes, but you have always been a good son. Don’t upset me. Ugur hugs his mom, please don’t cry.

Mufide wants to know what will happen to Oyku. Ugur says he is going to take care of everything. He’s going to fix it. All she has to do is pray. Ugur gets up to put his shoes on. Mufide asks, how are you going to take care of this? Where are you going? She’s worried. All I ask is that you pray for me mom, he says and leaves.

Candan and Zeynep are at the school waiting for Oyku. Candan asks Zeynep to take Oyku home because she needs to speak with Sevgi. You’re going straight home, right? Of course, says Zeynep.

As Zeynep and Oyku walk, Oyku has something to say. Auntie, you never dropped me off or picked me up from school. My friend’s parents came for them. I always had to go home by myself and that made me sad. But now I am happy. Zeynep tells Oyku she was very busy before but now she has time. We see Cemal lurking nearby. He approaches them. Zeynep? Ah, Cemal...

dondi356

Hija #63 part 3

How are you asks Cemal, as he greets her with kisses. Fine, how are you? It’s been so long. He was out walking. He says, what a coincidence to run into you. Oyku is staring at him suspiciously but doesn’t remember him. Zeynep introduces Cemal to Oyku. Nice to meet you. Likewise. Cemal asks if Zeynep would like to get coffee. Yes, of course. Oyku reminds Zeynep they have to get home before it gets late. Zeynep brushes that off. Cemal knows a bakery that makes amazing pastries stuffed with chocolate and they have videogames and a carousel. That’s all Oyku needs to hear. Let’s go, she says. They get in Cemal’s car.

Sevgi and Candan are at an outdoor restaurant. Sevgi apologizes for blabbing to Ugur. Candan says it’s in the past. Sevgi wonders if Ugur will tell Demir. Candan tells Sevgi she spoke with Ugur and he promised not to tell for now. Candan says Demir has suffered enough. She doesn’t know if he could handle this.

Sevgi can’t believe this is happening. The weight of everything is on the shoulders of an innocent little girl. Candan says, that’s why we have to keep Oyku away from Cemal, no matter what. Sevgi asks why Candan wanted to meet. Candan needs advice. She’s confused about what to do. Sevgi is the only person she can tell. Candan relates that Oyku’s treatment is very expensive. We can’t afford it, she says, and it will only get harder. Sevgi asks Candan what she has in mind. She doesn’t know but knows she needs to do something. She doesn’t want to leave everything up to Demir. Candan is scared he will do something crazy out of desperation.

Sevgi says, didn’t you have a friend who owns a hospital? Can’t he help you? Murat, answers Candan. He said he would cover costs if I do what he wants. And what does he want, asks Sevgi? A relationship, maybe marriage. Candan says he wants to own her. What? Sevgi asks, what kind of man is that? (Sevgi that’s why we call him Mu-RAT) Sevgi doesn’t know what to say to Candan. Candan says there’s not much to say. It’s upsetting.
Candan gets a phone call. She is selling her car. She has to go meet them at the mechanic.

Ugur is about to compound his problems with another mistake. He shows up at Sabri’s hideout and he’s not going anywhere until he sees Sabri. He wants his money. Sabri agrees to see him. What brings you here, he asks Ugur. Are you joking? You know why I am here, says Ugur, give me my money. We made a deal. Ugur demands his share. Sabri mocks him, you were dumb enough to steal from a casino?

Ugur dares to threaten Sabri, I’m tired of your games. I could talk. If I go down, you will go with me. I need that money. Sabri is angry, how dare you threaten me in my own home! Sabri’s thugs pull their guns on Ugur. Sabri steps up to Ugur saying, you never should have come to me. Nobody is that dumb (and I thought he knew Ugur). A thug knocks out Ugur. Sabri gives the order to get rid of this idiot quickly and they drag Ugur out. Sabri’s guys drive Ugur to a wooded area and dump him. It’s done. One says, take his wallet. No money. Take his ID. They leave Ugur, who is still unconscious.

Candan drives up to the mechanic. They look at her car. Candan thinks back to when Oyku noticed her car was like Demir’s. Oyku even named her car. The buyer is ready to close the sale.

Zeynep, Cemal and Oyku are sitting at a table. Cemal puts on the act and asks Zeynep, how long has it been? Two, three years? I’ve missed you. Oyku asks, Mr. Cemal are you a lifelong friend of my aunt’s just like Demir and Candan? Yes, that’s right Oyku, just like Demir. He asks her if she wants a ride on the carousel. Oyku is thrilled. While she rides, Cemal talks to Zeynep.

dondi356

Hija #36 part 4

Cemal gives Zeynep her instructions. Take your phone Zeynep, says Cemal. Answer whenever I call. Keep your eyes open to whatever happens in that house. Whenever possible, you will help me meet up with Oyku again. Zeynep agrees but it’s getting late and she is afraid Demir will get suspicious.

Candan gets home and no one is there. She calls Demir. I just arrived home. Do you know why Oyku isn’t here? What? Demir calls Zeynep. No answer. He calls Candan back. He’s worried Oyku has been kidnapped. Candan doesn’t think that’s so. He asks Candan to stay home and he will look around.

Mufide shows up at Demir’s. Candan invites her in. Mufide is very upset. Candan gets water for Mufide. She asks if Mufide needs a doctor. No, she says, Ugur told me something before leaving. He told me that Oyku is sick and that she doesn’t remember anything. She needs money for treatment and they were able to borrow it. Ugur had the money but he was robbed.

Candan asks where they got the money. Mufide doesn’t know. Candan asks if she knows where Ugur went. She will find him. Mufide doesn’t know, but Ugur told her he would take care of the money problems. And he asked me to pray for him, she cries as she speaks. Mufide is so scared Ugur will get in trouble again. He doesn’t answer his phone. Candan tells Mufide to stay calm. Demir will be home soon. I’m sure he knows what’s going on. Don’t worry.

Ugur wakes up. Where the hell am I? He tries to get up, but he can’t stand on his leg. He thinks he’s a dead man if he stays out there. No phone, no wallet, no ID. He drags himself to stand against a tree. He flags down a woman driving a farm machine. There’s some silly banter between them. This woman seems little strange (yes, even compared to Ugur). Ugur asks, can you take me to a doctor? She is ready to oblige saying she will take him to town. Ugur is grateful. She helps him to her vehicle.

They don’t go to town but to a farm. I thought we were going into town, says Ugur. She says she will take him when she is finished working. She helps him into the stable. Ugur realizes there are no animals in there. She walks out and locks him in. Ugur screams and bangs on the door. Open! Let me out! What’s going on?

Cemal is driving Zeynep and Oyku home. Did you have fun, Oyku, he asks. Yes, Mr. Cemal. He tells her we can do this again. Maybe next time I see Zeynep. Zeynep tells Cemal they are close to home; he can stop here. Suddenly Oyku goes into a trance but they don't notice.

We see Demir running through the neighborhood. Cemal gets a call from Candan. He doesn’t answer. Zeynep says to stop the car. Fine, I’ll leave you here, says Cemal. Just as he stops, Demir comes running around the corner. What is this, says Demir. Zeynep is scared, what are we going to do? Oyku is still in a trance.

After a few tense seconds, Demir runs to Cemal’s car and grabs Oyku out of the back. Zeynep begs Demir to calm down. Demir wants to know what they are doing in Cemal’s car. He yells, there is no explanation! What were you planning?

Cemal steps to Demir. Stop yelling, Cemal says, you are going to scare Oyku. Demir yells back at Cemal to stay out of it. You never cared about Oyku, I’ll kill you, shouts Demir. Oyku is taking this in. Cemal pushes Demir and says, who do you think you are? Demir wants to know why Cemal is always around Oyku. Cemal shouts, Because I am….. Oyku interrupts Cemal to say—Papa? Demir turns to look at Oyku.

And we are out.

HIJA

Dondi, simply amazing, thank you for the wonderful read of last night's events.

Well, Ugur, sure had some (more) screws loosened. He tells Demir not to go looking for Sabri and not to make the mistake he made, but he turns right around and goes looking for Sabri himself. I do have to say, however, that I admire his resolve in helping Oyku; he was willing to take anything just to get the money for her meds. So what is that lady gonna do with Ugur? Make chicken soup out of him?

How generous of Candan to sell her car to get money for Oyku, but Denir is so proud that he probably won't accept her money; he already turned down her offer to use her credit card.

So what is Demir going to do when he runs out of meds again? He can't go back to the same pharmacy from which he stole.

Given that Oyku took some time before she called Demir "papa," the writers better not have her calling Cemal "papa." PLEEEAASE writers, ya basta!

hija

Wow, dondi356, each of your recaps seem even more impressive than your previous one. And this one is no exception. You cover everything beautifully, and I LOVE your asides!

I found myself faked out last night. I assumed/hoped that when the thugs left Ugur unconscious and took his wallet and IDs, they'd then have an automobile accident, perhaps a fatal one, and one of them would be identified as Ugur from the IDs he carried. Just where that would lead, I had no idea, but.... Oh well, chalk up another miss for me.

Your recap's conclusion perfectly captures the uncertainty with which we're left. Is Oyku completing Cemal's "I am..." or did the trance Oyku had right before Cemal stopped the car result in her finally remembering that Demir is Papá? It's obvious what I hope for...and I'd better be right, or I'll be in no shape to write tonight's recap! (But I'll do it one way or another, don't worry.)

hija

Rgv Chick, I too am wondering what the crazy lady has in mind for Ugur, and how he will manage to escape. Presumably he won't wind up as chicken soup :-).

And I loved your comment about the conclusion: "PLEEEAASE writers, ya basta!"
Amen!

hija

Dondi, fantastic! Your descriptions of what happened in a pretty exciting episode were perfect.

I found myself wondering what I've wondered for many a year now. What did telenovela writers do before cell phones? I've watched them long enough to remember when there weren't such things. But I can't pinpoint how they managed to get characters to communicate so well. Presumably it just took longer.

I was totally surprised by that woman locking up Ugur. I just thought Ugur had "Luck of the Turkish" (instead of the Irish) to have a good Samaritan find him so quickly. No idea what her plans are. Maybe she's like Mufide's choice for his wife, so desperate for a husband she'll do anything.

Did Sabri appear in an earlier episode? I can't remember all the shady guys Demir and Ugur worked for in the telenovela. Well, he seems to be the worst.

I felt like jumping through my screen and strangling Cemal. I suppose the actor was relieved to have a scene without a scowl. But I hated his friendly act with Oyku and, even as smart as she is, she's a child and children like sweets and carousels.

I'm voting for Oyku recovering her memory. Actually it never occurred to me that she'd be finishing Cemal's sentence. I am excited for tonight's episode to see how that scene plays out.

Hija

Thanks, Rgv Chick and Juanita.

I thought of the novel/movie “Misery” when that loca locked Ugur up. “So what is that lady gonna do with Ugur? Make chicken soup out of him?” Good one, Rgv Chick.

Selling off belongings is only a temporary fix. I hope Candan doesn’t go for Mu-RAT’s proposition. If she tries to lead him on, it will cause a disaster on all fronts.

Fingers crossed that Demir is Papa! I hope you get a happy episode, Juanita.

dondi356

Hija

Thank you novelera. I didn't see your post until after I posted mine.

I saw an episode of an old soap not long ago. Anyone remember "The Doctors"? That was almost 50 years ago. No cell phones. Rotary phones. No computers. No pagers; they called people over the PA system. Character got stranded with a coworker due to a storm and had no way to call his wife. She thought he was having an assignation with said colleague.

When that crazy woman heard Ugur’s name, she said let’s see if you bring me luck.

Ugur is always talking about his “contacts”, seems he has a lot. But I don’t remember Sabri before last night.
