We would love to have more recappers for the telenovelas beginning this week. Please know that lengthy recaps are not the only way to do them. It would be ideal to have a recapper for each weekday evening; and, if your time is limited, short ones also work just fine to prompt comments.
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post so readers can easily find the conversation they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes references to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

Slight rewind. Omer calls Demir. He asks if they can meet at the café. Demir asks what it is about but Omer wants to talk face to face. Demir goes to meet Omer and Ugur and Cemal continue home.
Candan and Oyku are waiting in the window. We see Mufide in the living room waiting with arms crossed. They’re coming, Oyku announces. Mufide gets ready. Before Ugur can unlock the door, Mufide comes out. Ugur exclaims, Mother! Wow, you recognize me, says an unsmiling Mufide. Ugur kisses her hand and hugs her. I missed you so much, he says. Cemal kisses Mufide’s hand, too. Mufide says this is not a happy return. (If looks could kill!) Ugur asks why, what happened?
Mufide starts, you insolent brat! You have the nerve to ask? I should smack you! How could you propose to your girlfriend while I was away? Ugur and Cemal shoot each other looks. She asks for an answer and Ugur fumbles for one, mom, I can explain… but Mufide cuts him off, shut up, don’t answer! Cemal tries to excuse himself saying, see you later, and Mufide calls him back. Neither of you are going anywhere. She wants them both inside. And where is Demir, she asks. Demir has something to do, Ugur replies, he will be here soon.
Demir meets Omer. Demir wonders why Omer called. Did something happen? Omer is sorry that Demir hasn’t had any help. You have lost everything no one has helped you, he says. Demir says Omer shouldn’t worry about that. Omer slides and envelope to Demir and says, take this. What is this? Omer says a little help from me, for your family. Demir thanks Omer but he doesn’t want to accept. Omer says he would feel better if Demir would accept it. He feels ashamed about what happened. You’re not only innocent but you returned my money. Omer insists that Demir take it.
Oyku starts her homework assignment about her family: My Dear Family.
Mufide is standing over Ugur, Cemal and Candan, who are sitting on the couch, heads down. She reads the riot act. How shameful! Didn’t you feel a tiny bit bad? What were you thinking? How could you do this behind my back? Shame on you! Ugur speaks up, we wanted to surprise you. Mufide tells him to be quiet. Cemal throws Ugur under the bus. He tells Mufide she should be angry. I told him not to do it, says Cemal, but he didn’t listen. A shocked Ugur doesn’t recall that. Cemal whispers, I would happily take a bullet for you, but I can’t stand to see your mother upset. Everyone has their limit. Are you my friend or enemy Ugur asks? How could you betray me?
Ugur tells Mufide not to listen to Cemal, he’s saying this so you won’t get mad. Once again Mufide shuts him down and she says you are both guilty! And don’t try to fool me! Ugur tries to calm her saying, mother you look tired, sit and rest a little and yell at us later.
Just then, Demir comes in. He’s happily surprised to see Mufide and kisses her hand. She tells him to sit down. He says why didn’t you tell us you were coming? We would have picked you up. Cemal tells him, we are talking about something else right now.
Now Demir is gonna hear it. My son has no heart! Demir, why didn’t you warn him? You should have told him not to propose without his mother! Demir, like Cemal, says, I told him, but he didn’t listen to me. Candan says, you are right about everything, but we thought you would be happy. You love Sevgi. You’re wrong, Mufide replies, and no one is getting married! Over my dead body!
dondi356
Ugur jumps up, what are you saying mom? You heard me, Mufide shouts, you’re not getting married! Demir says, you are right to be angry but…. Mufide cuts him off, she’s going to bed. Ugur tries to stop her, let’s finish talking. She’s done talking, this won’t happen and that’s that! Candan says Mufide hasn’t had anything to eat. She will prepare something for her. Mufide says she is too tired. Candan wants to get Oyku out of the bedroom for her. No, Mufide will take Ugur’s room and Ugur can sleep on the couch.
Candan asks the guys if she should make something to eat. No one has an appetite now but maybe she should make something for Oyku; she’s been reading in her room.
Demir goes in to check on Oyku. Oyku tells Demir that Mufide is very angry. He knows. Oyku can tell he is scared of Mufide. She laughs at how he was scolded by her. Oyku asks if Mufide will be able to stop Ugur from marrying Sevgi. Demir isn’t sure. Oyku thinks Mufide is right. What if I decided to get married without telling you? What? Demir doesn’t want to hear such things. He tells Oyku she won’t get married; she will stay home take care of him! She laughs. He never wants to hear that again!
Oyku asks Demir if he will have a wedding with Candan, too. Demir says we’re already married. But wouldn’t it be nice to have a celebration, she asks? What if Candan wears a wedding dress? Demir doesn’t know, do you think she would want that? Yes. Oyku leaves him to think about it while she gets something to eat.
Next morning, Demir wakes Ugur on the couch. Demir has an idea to get him out of this situation. He tells Ugur to hurry and get dressed. Let’s go before Mufide wakes. We hear the idea as they walk. Tell my mom that my father-in-law wants to come to our house, Ugur asks? And then tell my father-in-law that my mom wants to invite them? Yes, that’s it. So, I’m going to trick my mom and my father-in-law? Do you think it will work? When your mother sees Sevgi, she won’t be angry anymore. Ugur thinks this is a good idea. He wants to stop for breakfast before work but Demir says he has something to do and will see him later.
Demir is going to see a house! The agent says it’s old and needs painting. Demir thinks painting is easy and rent is reasonable. Demir loves it and he’s ready to put the deposit down before anyone else grabs it. The agent will call the landlord and they can sign the contract.
Cemal thinks Demir’s idea is a good one, too. It should work. They are going to be family after all.
At breakfast, Mufide complains about Ugur and Demir; they left early so she couldn’t yell at them. Oyku says her dad is afraid of Mufide. Candan says that Ugur was so sad last night. Mufide says he should have thought about that before. Candan knows Mufide was sure about her decision and that she’s upset, but Ugur and Sevgi love each other very much. Oyku agrees.
Ugur calls Mufide and sets up the first part of the plan. He tells her, since Captain Huseyin couldn’t meet you before he would like to come and ask for your blessing. Ok, they can come, says Mufide. Mufide explains to Candan that Huseyin and Sevgi are coming for dinner tonight. They couldn’t go ahead without her blessing. It would be rude if I didn’t have them over, she says. They will have to get busy cleaning and cooking, even Oyku says she will help.
Ugur calls Huseyin and the invitation is accepted. Demir arrives to work. Ugur tells him the plan is set up. So far so good. Ugur wants to know what Demir was doing. Demir tells them about the house. The guys are happy for him. Ugur asks how did you get the money? Demir starts to explain about Omer and then Semih comes out and asks what’s going on.
dondi356
Demir tells Semih about the house and the guys realize they should get to work. Semih stops them. He has more good news for Demir. The critic’s review has been published. Demir reads the review and it is glowing. The critic praises the food and the service. Semih is thrilled; he’s getting a lot of reservations. And that’s not all, the maître d quit and from now on, Demir will be the new maître d. Demir is in shock. What just happened, asks Ugur. Cemal explains, it’s because they are not used to everything going so well.
Everyone is busy. Our guys are at the restaurant and the ladies preparing for the dinner at home. Soon enough work is over, the table at home is set. The doorbell tweets; Huseyin and Sevgi are here. Ugur is nervous. Should he answer the door? Of course! Huseyin and Sevgi come in and everyone enjoys the dinner.
Later in the evening, Oyku is in bed. Candan and Sevgi serve coffee and dessert. Huseyin complements the dinner. Sevgi mentions she’s not as good a cook as Mufide and Huseyin confirms that. He says his late wife was a great cook. Huseyin says he didn’t feel right when they came to ask for Sevgi’s hand without Mufide. Children shouldn’t do anything without their parents, he says. And he adds, I’m very happy you invited us this evening. Ugur quickly steers the conversation away to who should be invited to the wedding. We should talk about that now. Mufide takes him to task for interrupting.
Huseyin thinks it’s ok to discuss the wedding now. Where should we have it? Ugur suggests they can have it here, in the yard and in the street. Everyone thinks it a good idea. Demir has an idea, too. He says, let’s have a double wedding. Candan is shocked. Mufide is happy. She will see both girls in their wedding dresses. Candan is reluctant but both Mufide and Sevgi insist. Candan wants to change the subject and says they can work out the details later.
Huseyin says it’s time to go. He thanks Mufide for inviting them. Mufide asks Ugur, we invited them? Ugur tries to deflect, let’s have tea! Mufide wants to clear this up; you told me they wanted to come. Huseyin says, he called me to say we were invited. Ugur admits what he did and says, was that so bad? The families finally met. If this is a crime, arrest me, he tells Huseyin.
The night is ending. Demir and Candan snuggle on the couch. Demir tells Candan he found a house. They will surprise Oyku in the morning and go see it. Candan is elated and then she asks where he got the money. He doesn’t tell her about Omer, he just says trust your husband and concentrate on your wedding. Candan doesn’t want a wedding. Demir tells her there will be a double wedding, so she better get used to it.
Next morning, they go to see the house. Candan and Oyku love it. Oyku starts to plan where her furniture will go. There is a knock at the door. It’s Ugur, Sevgi and Cemal with paint, rollers, and brushes. Oyku insists on painting, too. Well, if Oyku is painting, Candan and Sevgi want to paint as well.
Demir and Cemal are preparing the paint. Demir tells Cemal that if you would have told him a year ago that he would be a married man with a child, he would have laughed. Cemal says it is destiny, and he hope things will be better for Demir, living here with his wife and his daughter. Demir says, you haven’t told me about yourself because you are always worried about my problems. Have you been able to forget her?
Cemal is not sure if he could ever forget. He felt terrible, but now he’s not sure how he feels. He’s not sure if it’s love or disappointment. But in time he will get used to it. The one thing he is sure of is their friendship. That’s what matters most. I’m finally where I want to be, Cemal says, with my best friends. He adds, who says my destiny won’t be like yours? Demir agrees and says, we are all writing our own story. If we are together, nothing can stop us. Well said.
dondi356
Mufide is home wondering where everyone is and they arrive, exhausted from painting the new house. Mufide goes to make tea. Everyone goes to their rooms to change clothes. Sevgi takes out a bridal magazine; she’s asking for opinions. They look at dresses. Candan points out one that she thinks is beautiful. Oyku asks Candan what kind of dress will she wear. Candan tells her she won’t wear a wedding dress. What, says Sevgi, why won’t you wear a wedding dress? Oyku agrees with Sevgi, Candan should wear a wedding dress. Candan insists she will just wear a simple dress and that’s it.
Later, Oyku is looking at the magazine alone. She wonders if Candan doesn’t want the dress because of money. Oyku rips out the page with the dress Candan liked and puts the magazine back in Sevgi’s bag. She folds the page and puts it under her pillow.
Sevgi says it’s getting late and she will pass on having cake. She should leave before her father gets worried. Ugur will take her home. Mufide thinks she’s got a very pretty daughter-in-law but complains Sevgi didn’t want to eat her cake. Demir says the mother-in-law is coming out in Mufide. Mufide can’t wait to see Sevgi in her wedding dress. Oyku tries giving a signal to Demir but he is clueless.
Dinner is finishing and Demir asks where Oyku went. Candan says Oyku wanted to go to sleep early tonight. Oyku calls for her father. Demir goes to the bedroom and wonders why she’s in bed so early. It’s because she has something important to tell him. Oyku tells Demir how they looked at wedding dresses earlier. Candan said she didn’t want a dress but Oyku thinks it’s because of the expense. She takes the picture from under her pillow and shows Demir, this is the dress Candan really liked. Oyku says she would pick that dress if she was getting married. Demir reminds her she is never getting married. We will be together forever, he shouts! It ends up in a tickle session and Oyku yells, ok I won’t get married.
Candan is outside the door asking what’s going on. They quickly hide the picture before Candan enters. Demir explains he was tickling Oyku. They turn the tables and attack the Iron Man.
Looks like we have a short passage of time and the day of the double wedding has arrived. Decorations are placed out in the street. The grooms are inside getting ready with the help of Cemal. Ugur realizes he has forgotten to pick up Sevgi’s ring at the jeweler! He left it there to be resized. Demir makes a crack it’s a good thing their wedding is on the same day or else Ugur would have forgotten that, too. Ugur says the jeweler is very close. We can go and be back quickly. The three amigos set off in a decorated car. Wonder whose car it is.
The jeweler greets them and hands it to Ugur. Our guys turn to leave, and we hear the words, this is a robbery! Don’t try anything and no one gets hurt! One robber holds our guys at gunpoint and the other orders the jeweler to fill his bag. Demir and Cemal blame Ugur for this. Ugur says it’s just bad luck but Cemal says bad luck is your car breaking down. This is worse! Demir thanks Ugur for getting them in trouble on their wedding day.
The robber asks them to be quiet. Then he sees that Ugur has something in his hand and he wants it. Ugur will not give it and the robber threatens to shoot Ugur in the head! Cemal and Demir tell Ugur to hand it over but Ugur is defiant. You’ll have to shoot me if you want it, he says. Ugur doesn’t stop there he says, there are so many other rings there to take. Steal another one. Demir speaks up, listen, we have a wedding ceremony to get to. Look at us, let us go. The robber, who is still pointing his gun at the guys, says, you are not going anywhere until I get that ring!
dondi356
Cemal tells the robber to wait a minute, and then he asks Ugur, will you give the ring? Ugur won’t. Demir looks at Cemal and says, we won’t give him anything. Cemal makes a quick count, one, two, three and he and Demir rush the robbers! Ugur just stands and watches. After a short struggle, Cemal and Demir manage to disarm the robbers.
Meanwhile, the wedding preparations continue at the house. The girls arrive and are on their way inside to get dressed. A package arrives for Candan. The messenger says it is from Demir. It’s the dress that she saw in the magazine! Candan is very surprised and thrilled. She runs to get dressed.
Huseyin gets a call. It’s Ugur. We are at the jeweler, he says, I had to come pick up the ring. We were about to leave the shop when robbers came in. Demir and Cemal and he adds himself, too, stopped them. What are you talking about, asks Huseyin. Ugur continues, we have them tied up now. Can you come and take them to the police station? Huseyin exclaims, you’re telling me this on your wedding day? Hang up! I’m coming!
Candan has put on her dress. She is smiling at herself in the mirror; she looks lovely. She has a flashback to when Ugur and Demir first came to her house to steal the paintings. She thinks back to when she and Demir got married and to when she kissed him before leaving him at Resat’s.
There’s a knock at the bedroom door and Oyku and Sevgi enter. Candan, the dress looks so beautiful on you, says Sevgi. Oyku thinks Candan looks like a real princess. Candan says they look beautiful, too. She wants to know whose idea was this. It was all Oyku and Demir, says Sevgi. Oyku asks if Candan is mad. No, how can she be? She tells Oyku, I am grateful because I am lucky to have you. I love you so much. And Oyku says I love you, too, Candan.
Huseyin shows up at the jeweler with a couple of police officers. The officer asks who are we taking? Not us, says Ugur. If my daughter wasn’t waiting for you, I know what I would do, says an exasperated Huseyin. He wants details. Ugur explains what happened while Demir gets a call from Candan. When are you coming? The guests are arriving. Demir says we will be there in a few minutes. Demir hangs up on her. The police lead the robbers out. Demir says, we have to hurry or else there won’t be a wedding.
Oyku and Mufide are greeting guests. They hear one woman say everyone is here but the grooms, did something happen? The brides are waiting inside the house. Someone offers them something to eat but they are too nervous. Mufide is nervous, too, and she asks Sevgi to call Ugur. Candan already called Demir, she says, and they are on their way.
Mufide says she won’t feel better until she sees them. You will understand when you are a mother. She tells Sevgi, I always asked to have a daughter in law like you and thank God my prayers were heard. Now I can die in peace, she says. Sevgi says, don’t say that, I hope you live for many more years. Mufide feels her son is in good hands now. Candan is worrying at the window. Oyku comes to her and says, my dad never disappoints the people he cares about. He loves you a lot.
The grooms finally arrive with Huseyin right behind them. Mufide sees them and tells the girls they have arrived. She tells the grooms the girls are waiting inside. Before they can go inside the girls run out. Ugur is stunned into silence when he sees how beautiful Sevgi looks. She asks him where he has been but he can’t answer. Candan asks Demir if he is ok. Yes, he’s just amazed at how beautiful she looks. Candan thanks him for the dress, it was a lovely gesture. Demir thanks her for being his wife.
dondi356
Ugur is frozen, staring at Sevgi. Cemal tries to bring him out of it. Huseyin is getting agitated. He tells Cemal and Demir to do whatever but snap him out of this. The guests are here, and he doesn’t want any weird surprises. Cemal finally gets Ugur to go with him into the house and into the kitchen.
Ugur tells Cemal, I don’t know what happened. I saw Sevgi in her wedding dress and I felt my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Yes, I saw, says Cemal, but so did Huseyin. He was angry. Ugur starts babbling, he’s not feeling well, his heart is racing. Cemal looks for something in the fridge. He pulls out a bottle, a sedative. It’s Mufide’s tachycardia medicine, Ugur says, I can’t take it. Cemal thinks he should take a little bit, it’s herbal, it can’t hurt. Ugur downs a capful. Nothing. Cemal says wait five minutes. Ugur wants to take a little more. He grabs the bottle, and it’s bottoms up. Cemal grabs the bottle away from him. Now Ugur says he’s ready and runs out.
We never see the actual wedding ceremony. We see the couples walk out of the house to applause and Oyku throws confetti. The newlyweds go over to a table to cut the cake. It’s a simple sheet cake with their initials on it. Candan and Demir feed each other a piece of the cake. And Ugur eats a piece of cake instead of feeding Sevgi. Then he goes back for another piece and they feed each other. Oyku takes the brides’ bouquets. More applause.
Cemal gives a signal and music starts to play. Candan and Demir dance, so do Sevgi and Ugur. We see Mercan standing with Oyku and Cemal looks on, smiling. We see Mufide and Huseyin sitting next to each other watching their children.
Ugur tells Sevgi, I have never seen a more beautiful bride. Sevgi says you have said the same thing a hundred times. I think Ugur is feeling the effects of the meds. Candan and Demir notice. Demir calls Cemal over, what did you do to Ugur? He is so happy. Cemal says he gave him an herbal medicine but of course he drank a lot.
Mufide tells Huseyin, Ugur grew up to be like his father; he was a naïve and good-hearted man. That’s why Ugur always gets in trouble. Huseyin says Sevgi is like her mom. Her mother’s smile could change anything. Mufide says, Ugur’s father used to look at me the same way Ugur looks at Sevgi. Mufide says her husband’s wish was to make it to his son’s wedding. Huseyin says his wife’s dream was to see her daughter in her wedding dress. They both get teary talking about this, but they are so happy.
Sevgi and Ugur look at their parents. We should dance with them, Sevgi says. Sevgi goes to her dad, will you dance with your daughter? He happily gets up. Ugur asks his mother to dance. He tries to pull her up out of her chair. Not so fast, you want me to fall and break some bones? He tries to lead her and even dip her. She’s barely holding on to him. She finally throws her arms around his neck and smiles. Sevgi rests her head on her father’s shoulder.
Candan gets a brooding look on her face and Demir asks Candan what’s wrong. She says, since I see Sevgi and Ugur dancing with their parents…. Demir says, you thought of yours? Demir tells her, I know we can’t replace your parents, but we will try to be a happy family. The three of us.
Oyku and Mercan step out on the dance floor. How sweet. But Demir doesn’t think so. Mercan, get your hands off her. Candan says, leave them, they are just dancing. Demir leaves Candan to cut in on Mercan. But dad, I was dancing with Mercan, Oyku complains. Don’t think about him when your dad is here. Mercan asks Candan to dance. How can I say no to such a distinguished gentleman, she tells him.
dondi356
Cemal gives a signal to the musicians to begin. Folk music plays, this gets everyone moving. The wedding party lines up and dances the Halay. Everyone is having a great time. We get an overhead shot of the wedding celebration and then the camera pans over the houses to a wide shot of the neighborhood and the city. Wonderful!
We are in the classroom. Sevgi says, I have read your essays and all of them were very good. Will one of you come up to read? Everyone raises their hand. Sevgi picks Oyku. (isn’t this how the show started, with Oyku reading a story about her family? We have come full circle.)
She reads (while she reads, we see scenes from the wedding): My family. My beloved family. I am a very lucky girl. I have a mother and father who love me very much. I have two wonderful uncles. And then I have you, teacher. And I also have Señora Mufide. She is the best. She is the sweetest most considerate grandma in the world. And I have good friends. They love me a lot. In the past, I was very lonely… she pauses and looks around… but now I have the best family in the world! The class applauds and Oyku smiles.
It’s nighttime and Oyku is in her new bedroom, sitting in her new princess bed, looking around the room. She looks so content. Candan comes to tuck her in. Good night, Oyku, Candan says. Good night, mom, Oyku replies. (this is the first time she has called Candan mom!) Candan is clearly affected (me, too). Demir comes in and asks if something has happened. Nothing, everything is fine. Oyku says to Demir, don’t you think mom looked beautiful at the wedding today? (They must have edited this out of sequence) Demir looks at Candan and says, she is more than beautiful; she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. He gives her a kiss on the cheek.
Demir tells Oyku it’s time to sleep. She wants a story first. Dad please? It’s the first night in our new house. He asks Candan if she wants to be in the audience. They get into bed with Oyku in the middle.
Demir starts: Once there was a little girl who really was a little lamb. The lamb traveled fearlessly through the enormous city. This little lamb knew all the streets and would recite the metro stops by memory. (We see Oyku on the metro reciting the stops. We see her reading her aunt’s letter.) The little lamb took her thinks and went looking for someone she never met before. She had a huge yellow bag. The road was tough, her bag was big, and her hands were tiny. (we see Oyku dragging her big yellow bag through the street and up the stairs, where she meets Ugur. She tells him she’s Demir’s daughter)
At first the lamb couldn’t find who she was looking for, but she kept looking and never gave up until she found him. (We see Oyku walking into Demir’s hearing. She tells the judge she wants to stay with her dad. And we see how mean Demir treated her outside the courthouse.) But the man was such an ogre, ugly and wrinkled from all the anger inside of him. He couldn’t understand the little lamb’s problems. He couldn’t even see his own problems. (We see Oyku accusing Ugur and Demir of being thieves and Jilet giving the guys the Candan job.)
He needed love. The man didn’t know what love was or how to be loved. But the lamb started to change the ogre. (We see more flashbacks to the early days; how annoyed Demir was by Oyku and how she stuck with him.) At first the man was scared. He didn’t know what was happening to him. So, the lamb approached him and said, don’t be afraid. It’s love. (Flashback to the canal where Oyku told Demir he didn’t have many good qualities, but at least he’s her dad. These things happen between fathers and daughters) Then the man understood that the little lamb was really a beautiful warrior princess who had sworn to change the man.
dondi356
And after that, asks Oyku? (we see Demir disguised as a clown and as a woman to see Oyku in the orphanage. We see Oyku’s surprise party.) From that moment on, she taught him many good things. Kindness, integrity, honor. And to get up again without giving up or complaining, even if the fall was terrible. But do you know the most important thing the princess did? She turned that man with a heart of stone into a father. (We see the scene where Demir chased down the car that was taking Oyku to the orphanage. It’s the first time he said he was Oyku’s father.)
So, the father called the pretty little lamb with the yellow bag, his daughter. Oyku gives Demir a kiss. (We go back to when Demir found out about Oyku’s illness. When they made their first finger promise not to lie.) The man promised he would never let her go again and he became Iron Man. Iron Man and the Warrior Princess, and the prettiest mother of them all, lived happily ever after and they were never apart again.
Demir finishes his story by telling Oyku he’s happy she came into his life. He looks at Candan and says, that you are my family and that you are a part of my life. You’re the reason I‘m alive now. Good night, princess. Oyku and Candan say good night. And Demir turns out the lights. Dad, says Oyku, we are never going to be apart, right? Never, says Demir. Promise? And all three make the finger promise, as “Tu Sangre en Mi Cuerpo” plays us out.
FIN
Thank you to everyone on the patio who took the time to read the recaps (lurkers, too). All of your insightful, witty and oh so snarky comments greatly added to my enjoyment of the show. Special thanks to my recap partner, Juanita, well done!
muchísimas gracias/çok teşekkürler/thank you very much!
dondi356
dondi, you've really impressed me with such a delightful recap. I've never smiled so much during a gran final as much as a I smiled with this one...and that smile returned this morning as I read through your masterfully written recap which captured every detail and emotion so wonderfully.
We were anticipating Omer helping out Demir financially; so no surprise there, but I don't understand why Demir wouldn't tell Candan about it.
And everyone was spot on with Demir getting a promotion....YIPPEE for him. I kept wondering if Ugur would also be promoted to waiter, but it seemed not.
Though Mufide had reason to be upset about not being told about Ugur's engagement, I thought her reaction was a bit over the top. Here she's been pressuring Ugur to get married and then she "forbade" him to marry Sevgi??? Glad she came around so quickly (which is something else that was anticipated.)
We were hoping that Semih would offer the restaurant as a venue for the weddings but having it outside of Mufide's house was just as good. I really enjoyed watching the three amigos dancing together. and the brides were beautiful.
dondi, I too was affected when Oyku called Candan "mama". There were many favorite moments, but this was on top!
The bedtime story and flashbacks were nice, but I wish they had included a nice anvil for MuRAT. I suppose the writers think that a "HEA" for Candan was anvil enough. And IIRC, her clinic was going to be closed for only two weeks.
Overall, I enjoyed this TN, but having such talented recappers leading this patio was the BEST!! Thank you so much,Juanita and dondi356, for sharing your talent and time with us. I truly appreciate your dedication and perseverance; the way both of you worked together was very impressive! Sending a virtual bouquet of flowers to both of you!
Thanks, Rgv Chick, for your appreciation and your comments.
There was much to smile about last night. I agree Rgv Chick, that most were anticipated.
I haven’t seen the original, so I have no idea how closely it followed. But I’m glad the writers gave us a happy ending. I thought the actors did a fine job, especially young Beren.
I enjoyed watching and that made it easier to recap. I was delighted we had a group of viewers and commenters. I expected that I’d be the only one on the patio and I was ready to go watch it in Turkish. But it is so much better when you have others watching with you.
When a novela ends, I like to think about what will happen to the characters moving forward. I liked Cemal’s optimism in this episode and I want to think that the worst is behind our characters and they will all live happily ever after. For Demir that means until Oyku wants to get married.
I can overlook some loose ends, but I badly wanted to see The Rat get his comeuppance! I think we all wanted that.
I’m planning on watching Loli. Hoping we get a nice group watching. Recappers?
dondi356
excellent recaps Dondi!
all of them! I can really appreciate the time and effort you put into them.
thanks!
so there is a subway station named Osmanbey?
"La suerte de Loli", quién es quién..
https://peopleenespanol.com/telenovelas/la-suerte-de-loli-quien-es-quien-en-la-telenovela-silvia-navarro/
Oh well, it was a marvelous series anyway!
MANY MANY THANKS, dondi356, for this heroic recap and all your amazing earlier ones! You did a magnificent job with the gran final. Indeed, in many ways I think you did a better job than the writers did! Like you, Rgv Chick, and Cat Lover, I was disappointed that there was no resolution involving Mu-RAT's dreadful behavior all through the novela. Like Cat Lover, I was pleased to see the closing of Candan's clinic in the opening segments, because I took that as a sign that it would figure in Mu-RAT's comeuppance in the gran final. No such luck. And that wasn't the only thing that disappointed me. I agree with Cat Lover that the last-minute attempted robbery at the jewelry store seemed weak. They could easily have dispensed with that and dealt with Mu-RAT instead. Or, for that matter, they could have shortened or even eliminated all the flashbacks that took up much of the second hour and dealt with Mu-RAT then. Oh well, I enjoyed the telenovela, and I especially enjoyed your recaps and the great comments that ensued.
I'm delighted, dondi, that you too are looking forward to La Suerte de Loli. And I'm very glad you mentioned hoping we'd have recappers. I've been in touch with novelera, and I think she's planning to recap the opening episode. I may give a try to recapping the second episode (Wednesday). It would be wonderful if we could get a regular schedule of recappers, each doing one recap per week. The recaps needn't be long. How about it, everyone?
I think all the superlatives about your recap of the gran final have been used up, dondi! I also want to do an obeisance. Picture me doing a low bow.
And, many, many thanks also to Juanita for fantastic recaps all the way through.
Very disappointed in Mu-RAT just getting away with trying to sabotage Candan out of spite. As Rgv Chick said, though, they did say she was closed for two weeks, so not too much harm done. They could have at least shown him sulking on the outskirts of the festivities watching the happy wedding party.
One thing that seemed odd to me, and they showed it twice, was Demir being a waiter and then the maître d in a nice suit, but arriving home in a casual jacket. Also, what highly rated restaurant only seems to be open in the daytime, allowing Demir to be home for that dinner with Hussein and Mufide getting to know each other?
So...the traditional happily ever after ending. I could have done without Demir interrupting Oyku's dance with Mercan. They looked very cute dancing.
And I kept expecting Ugur to faint or do something outrageous under the influence of whatever he drank.
It was great spending time with great recaps and on-the-nose comments all the way through.
Yes, as Juanita mentioned above, I will recap the first episode of La Suerte de Loli. It has an amazing cast. The recap will be up very late West Coast time.
They wrapped things up very nicely and had a happy ending and justice was served. I got the impression by the way they finished it off...all baddies in prison...that there will not be a Season 3. For me this is a good thing. I feel like the 10PM novelas featuring lots of evil guys and gunshots get very tired after the first two.
Novelera,
you are most likely correct abt that series, I was..All -in ..when it was at 9pm..but could not stay ..manage 10pm!!..they just made a senior cielos clone...
why 10pm..?? just to fill up /Senior Cielos Bullsh$$t 7 years of gore, blood !guts!!
....then they mess up my ....Initmate enemies...I was looking forward to that series..but no dice...!!another senor cielos knock -off!!
my goodness, you had... Hijo ...for almost a year??
so I am hoping that tonight's new 9pm is okay at least..
i see my girl who played Celia CRUZ,will be in it, so I will give it go...
so ladonna is on Peacock/NBC....OKAY??!!
Thanks, deb, for checking in. You weren’t watching but you were reading? Could you understand without watching? Thanks for the Loli link. Are you going to watch? In this case, Osmanbey is a stop on the M2 line not Burak Özçivit.
Cat Lover, your idea of having the wedding at Semih’s was a good one. I’m just happy we had the weddings at all. I’m glad you decided to join in and hope you will stay.
Juanita, thank you so much for recapping. You did a marvelous job and I enjoyed reading all your comments. I agree with you and Cat Lover about the robbery and some of the episode being filler instead of dealing with the nasty Rat problem.
Thank you, novelera. I had no doubt you would agree with the rest of us on Mu-rat. ITA, “They could have at least shown him sulking on the outskirts of the festivities watching the happy wedding party.” I was ticked that Demir never softened on Mercan. They took it too far for my liking.
I couldn’t stick it out with Identidad after the first couple of weeks. Glad to know it had a happy ending and that there won’t be a season three. I think you are right about things getting “tired”.
Looking forward to your recap, novelera!
Halimacandy! I've missed reading your comments.
dondi356
dondi- yep, read along, tried watching but drama in the days of covid I didn't find that entertaining, prefer that they just pull out their swords and knives and have at it.
I'm immersed in Ertugrul, the first 2 seasons were a wrap where they put everyone in their place then packed up the tents and moved to new adventures, the 3rd was different because they didn't move, but a new bad guy arrived, I'm starting the 4th season to unravel that cliffhanger.
interesting, the individual story lines can be resolved at anytime, and they are, as new ones are weaved in, you don't have to wait till the end to find out what happens.
I look forward to every show.
I just heard from novelera. She has watched Loli, but very soon after, there was a power outage, and so she has no lights, no power, no way to write a recap. She's hoping that the power will be restored tonight or early tomorrow, and that she'll be able to post a somewhat shortened recap sometime tomorrow. However, she said that if the recap doesn't appear by 5 pm Eastern time/2 pm Pacific, we should just post our thoughts about the episode.
Update! Power restored. Working on recap, but don't expect fantastic. I'm supposed to be working from home...in my real job.
LA SUERTE DE LOLI – PRIMER CAPÍTULO
Parte 1
We know we’re in Los Angeles because of the famous Hollywood sign. We see Dolores Aguilar in bed as her phone rings . There’s Pepto Bismol on the nightstand. A man asks where she is; they are on the air. She smells something burning. There are two children in the kitchen: a boy around 7 and a teenaged girl. She asks what they are doing here. The boy: “Madrina, (godmother) what do you mean?" The boy says he was microwaving some popcorn and then the microwave explodes.
Two Days Earlier
We see Loli get up early. Then she’s on her exercise bike looking at the news. She calls one Lupe, who complains about being called at 5 AM. We then see her, very well dressed, arriving at a fancy office building. When she’s in her office, her bestie Mariana calls. While they are on the call we see Mariana in her kitchen and multiple examples of what a wonderful, efficient mother she is. After the kids leave for school Mariana opens a bill stamped past due.
Loli’s assistant is introduced. He brings her coffee, apologizes for the long line to get it, and tells her that Paulina Rubio (a real person) is there. He also says that Vicente Varela has returned. She thinks Vicente is a week early. Her boss is walking down a hall at a good pace. He tells her that he resigned; he can’t tolerate working with Vicente.
Mariana arrives at her office. Unclear what her role is but she has employees working for her. And she treats them very kindly. One of them tells her there are some clients here who don’t meet the qualifications. She agrees to meet with them.
Loli asks her now ex-boss if he knows who will replace him. He tells her a list of qualities. Her assistant and another woman recite the list and say she checks all the boxes including being a workaholic and having no personal life! She looks into the distance and tries out the new title: Vice President of Production of Global Radio
We see a woman in a booth doing, I believe, the morning DJ gig. She’s taking calls from listeners and we hear some ranchera music in the background. Her show is called Wake up with Rox. She announces her guest as Paulina Rubio. The theme is how great it is to be a single woman.
Vicente arrives and his unpleasant assistant tells Loli that he doesn’t have time to see her.
Against her explicit orders, her assistant (sorry…pressed for time…didn’t get all the names) asks Paulina to take a selfie with him.
Mariana has come home from work and we see some snotty behavior from her daughter, Sam.
We are now at a fancy LA bar. Loli grabs some tequila shots at the bar. Mariana tells her friend about how Sam is behaving – basically unbearable. Loli launches into a refrain I think M has heard before, about the joys of never having children [foreshadowing, anyone?]
Parte 2
They have some typical girl talk. Loli praises one-night stands. We learn that Loli believes that Mariana was born to be a mother. The kids have different fathers, the second one being from a flask (artificial insemination). Turns out all those caballitos (little special tequila shot glasses) were for Loli. M doesn’t drink. Later on we see 7 or 8 of those empty caballitos. Loli is chiding M for never going anywhere, and that she needs to start meeting men.
Also, during their conversation, Mariana's financial problems are touched on. M refuses a loan from Loli.
When M goes to the restroom to take a call from her kids, we see a handsome guy at the bar who’s basically leering at Loli. She smiles coquettishly when he approaches. He says he’s Rafael.
In the bathroom M talks to her son, Nicki and then gets a pain in her chest. After a bit it passes.
Rafael and Loli flirt. He says he’s here from Chicago. Mariana comes out and takes Loli’s car keys to prevent her driving drunk. M says she needs to go home; she’s tired. Loli and Rafael have some hot kisses outside the bar. Rafael takes Loli home, but he shows himself to be a good guy, not wanting to come in, considering she’s pretty drunk. They agree to have dinner the next night and she gives him her full name and phone number.
At home Sam and Mariana quarrel. Sam is angry that M never told her who her father is. Sam knows that Nicki came from that flask and insults her mother about it.
Rafael texts Loli to see if she’s OK. Just then her alarm rings. No sleep for Loli.
Vicente is an obvious jerk. He has pompously gathered the whole staff and calls them “family”. He says they know by now that Federico quit. He goes on about the job as VP and then calls up Loli. But he also calls up two other women. Then he announces the new VP to be Rafael Contreras, the hunk from the night before with Loli. V says that R has come from Musify and is an expert in streaming.
Rafa makes a nice speech to the employees and then…let’s get to work. Loli confronts Vicente in his office and then quits.
At Mariana’s Nicki gives his mother a hand-drawn birthday card. Sam opens the fridge, sees a birthday cake and realizes she’s forgotten her mother’s birthday. But she waves this off and leaves.
Vicente threatens Loli with some clause in her employment contract. Then he says something about both she and Rafa coming up with proposals for the direction of the company, implying that the best one wins and the loser’s staff will likely be let go. Rafa speaks with her in the hall, suggesting they have that dinner anyway, and discuss working together. She refuses.
Sam comes home. She sees a neat house, the cake on the table, and no sign of her mother.
While Loli is talking with Rafa, Sam calls her in a panic. Her mother won’t wake up. Loli tells her to call an ambulance and she’s on her way.
Parte 3
We see Loli talking to the ambulance driver. She tells Sam to stay with Nicki.
At M’s bedside Loli tells her she’ll be fine. When M asks about the promotion Loli tells her that the guy from the bar is her new boss! We learn that M and L were childhood friends. Loli says she’ll call Bruno about caring for the children.
When Loli calls Bruno his wife picks up. We immediately see her for a vain, self-absorbed person. She carries Bruno’s phone to him. It’s on speaker. When Loli tells him about M and asks for his help with the children, the witch shakes her head and Bruno babbles about M being out soon, etc… Loli hangs up and wonders why she even bothered. Apparently, this is Bruno’s pattern.
Loli has stayed with the kids. She has no work clothes and puts on a rather feminine dress of M’s. She has to drive Nicki to his friend Zoe’s birthday party. They are stuck in traffic and she has Nicki get out, carefully cross the street and attend the party. Loli then tries to locate Sam on M’s phone by calling into the mother’s group M belongs to. The mamís go postal on her.
At work Rafael introduces Angie, his right-hand person from Musify. During the meeting texts keep arriving from the insane mamís. Angie suggests she should maybe keep her phone off during meetings. But Loli finds out that Nicki never arrived at the birthday party. Loli figures out where Sam went. She finds Nicki at the wrong birthday party, and the two of them go to the hospital where Sam is there, distraught. She blames herself for her mother’s illness.
[Somewhere in the show we learn that M had heart trouble before and surgery to fix it.]
Rafael calls Loli and tells her that his first impression was wrong. Her proposal is perfect, just needs a bit of fine tuning. He tells her not to worry about coming in and to take care of her family matter.
The doctor comes out and tells Loli that Mariana died. Loli can’t absorb it and keeps talking about random things. The kids overhear. They embrace, all three sobbing.
Mariana’s mother, Nora, arrives. She’s kind of a pain and starts blabbering and accusing Loli because she’s NOT a mother. Loli finally breaks it to her and hugs M’s mother.
We see a Funeral Home sign. We see M’s coffin and crying people. Bruno is obviously useless. A lawyer arrives (at the funeral home?). He tells Loli that Mariana left everything to her in her will, including the kids.
Wow, novelera, what a terrific recap! You managed to introduce all the characters and capture clearly and succinctly everything important that happened. You even alluded in an aside to an issue I wondered about as well, namely, the lawyer's showing up at the funeral home and announcing in front of everyone there the contents of Mariana's will. Huh??
What's even more astonishing is that you were able to create this excellent recap in spite of an unnerving power outage. Many, many thanks!
So far, I'm pleased with the novela. It's not exactly a model of subtlety, but it looks as if it should be fun, especially with such a talented cast. I'm not sure I understand enough about the novela to recap it, but I'll give it a try tonight anyway.
thanks novelera!!!!!
when Loli showed up at the office in that dress she got out of Mariana's closet, did her assistant ask if she was trying to look like a kindergarten teacher from Guatemala, Ha!
Great recap of the gran estreno, novelera! It was very helpful. And you got it done under stressful circumstances, too. Glad your power is back.
I’m happy to see the boy who played Carlos Ponce’s son in La Doña 2 is in this. I felt terrible about what they did to his character in that show.
The scene at the hospital after Mariana died was heartbreaking.
dondi356
Still at the funeral home, Norita is maintianing that Mariana could not have left her children to Loli. Bruno, Norita's son, shows her a copy of the will. Norita agrees that that 's what the will says, but it can't be. Loli knows nothing about children. Bruno points out that Norita lives in Mexico, and that the children have a life here. Norita then says that he should take the children, he's their uncle. Samantha overhears them and angrily says, "No one asked us what we want!" Nicky says he doesn't want to stay with his grandma nor with Loli. He wants his mother. Loli says that Sam's right, we shouldn't be having this discussion in front of the children.
Loli goes outside the funeral home. She has a large photo of Mariana in her hand, and she paces back and forth, talking to the photo. "What were you thinking? I don't know anything about children. Why didn't you mention this at the hospital. I could have said no. I don't want to be a mother. And what about my job? I love your kids, I love being with them from time to time and then bringing them back home!"
Inside, Norita is still talking to the lawyer. Loli comes inside and says she wants a copy of the will to show to her lawyer. Then she says, "Mariana would not want us fighting. We'll sort this out. For now, the kids are coming with me."
Rafael and Vicente are talking. They apparently are old friends from their school days. Vicente recalls that they shared girlfriends, and Rafael kept one. But we've matured since then. A little. Rafael replies, "That's why I'm here. To change my life." Rafael then asks about "Dolores...Loli" and he tells Vicente, "There's something you should know. The other night..." He's interrupted by someone who comes into the office and tells Vicente he has an urgent phone call from San Francisco.
Back at Loli's, Nicky is still miserable. "I want to go home. I want my mother. I want Mr. Coulders." Loli asks who Mr. Coulders is. Apparently it's a stuffed animal. Samantha wants to know why they can't go to their house. Loli tells her, "Because I live here."
There's a knock at the door. Norita arrives with a suitcase and food. She doesn't want her grandchldren to starve or eat cold pizza or anything else that Loli is likely to have in her house. She tells Loli, "If I raised two kids, I can raise two grandkids." Loli stops her and says, "We'll discuss this at a later time."
Bruno is wishing that he had gone to see Mariana in the hospital. "I believed that her situation was so serious." But he quickly agrees with Melissa, his wife, that the kids are better off with Loli. "With Loli, they'll have everything."
Vicente offers superficial condolences to Loli on the death of her friend. He is ready to postpone the discussion of Rafael's and Loli's projects, but Loli insists that she wants to hold that discussion now. She starts to present her ideas. She knows that Rafael wants to make changes, but it's best to make changes gradually. Change is hard, especially when it's sudden. It's clear that she's not thinking primarily about Global Radio but rather about Mariana. She becomes increasingly agitated and finally breaks down. Rafael suggests that they talk the next day. Vicente says something about not wasting his time. Loli is very upset, not just about Mariana but about having broken down and cried in front of Rafael and Vicente, being "very unprofessional." Rafael asks whether she'd like to go out for a drink. Loli replies, "Mariana will still be dead." She then tries to pull herself together and tells Rafael, "I promise you'll see the Loli that I am. Professional Loli."
Loli tries to make nopales con huevos for breakfast. Samantha doesn't want them. Nicky asks to eat hers. Loli asks, "Are you always so picky?" Nicky replies, "No, only when our mother dies."
Loli is talking with some social services person about her situation and the legal process. The woman tells her "In case you decide not to accept the children, CPS will take over." Loli asks what CPS is. "Child Protective Services. They'll be put up for adoption." It's clear that that's not what Loli wants to see happen.
Rafael is talking to someone on the phone. "What do you mean, you're moving to LA?" The scene is so brief that it must be important.
Back at Loli's, we have round 243 of the fight between Loli and Mariana's mother. Norita.says she knows Loli is a very important executive. "That's why you didn't get married." Loli replies, "If you're such a wonderful mother, why have your kids distanced themselves from you? And why did Mariana leave the kids to me?" Finally, Loli loses her temper and says "OK, I'll tell the judge I don't want them. You keep the kids, and I rid myself of a problem." Oops, Samantha overhears her and asks, "Is that what we are to you? A problem?"
Loli's assistant, Matías, is apparently married to Arturo. They've been married for five years, but when they simultaneously blurt out what they want, Arturo wants to have a child, while Matías wants a divorce. Matías also says that from now on he'll be sleeping on the couch.
Loli is looking at what I think is Mariana's cellphone. One of the items says simply, "For Loli." It's a video of Mariana speaking to Loli. "I bet right now you're saying, 'What was Mariana thinking when she left me her kids? This was not a spur of the moment decision. I thought about it for a long time. You're the best thing I can give my kids." She goes on to tell Loli that the kids love butter cookies, and she tells Loli how to make them. She continues, "I want my kids to be happy even though I'm not there. Trust me, I trust you, you can handle this."
We see Rafael at work late into the night. At one point, he thinks, "move to the East Coast. No, I have to consult the Señora Who Is Not To Be Named (innombrable)." Loli, too, is still at the office late at night. Suddenly she hears a noise. She uses the flashlight on her phone to look into her purse to find what seems to be some kind of protective device. Armed with the phone and the device, she goes to see what has made the noise. Rafael is listening to music via his earbuds. He starts moving to the music, and he crashes into Loli, who points her protective device at him. I don't know what the device is, but it seems to have affected his eyes. There's redness surrounding both eyes. She asks him what he's doing here. He tells her he couldn't sleep. Then he says, "You have to come out to dinner with me to apologize." She agrees. She then puts some drops in his eyes.
Loli goes home. Norita is asleep on the couch. Nicky is awake. "I can't sleep, I'm starving." I'm not sure why, but in the next scene Nicky is throwing up into the toilet with Loli holding him. Loli then asks him what his mother gives him when his stomach hurts. He tells her she gives him some pink stuff, and Mr. Coulders, and she sings a song. So Loli puts him to bed and sings a song.
We then get the same scene we saw at the beginning of episode 1: Loli wakes up, finds Nicky and Sam in her kitchen and asks them why they're here. Nicky tells her he was trying to make breakfast, and there's popcorn in the microwave. Then the microwave explodes. Apparently a fire engine comes, and so does a woman from Social Services who tells Loli that she has to inspect her house.
It seems that Bruno's wife, Melissa, and perhaps Bruno as well, are dealing in illegal merchandise that they store in their garage. A woman looks at a large purse and says, "$150 for a fake purse (bolsa pirata)? Melissa (I think) tells her "it's not a fake purse, it's an original copy, perhaps as homage." She goes on to say "Buying originals is no longer in. What's in is buying these."
As this transaction is occurring, Norita makes an unexpected visit to see Bruno. He seems disconcerted to see her and reluctant to let her come in. Finally she does come in, and they talk about the custody issue (of course). Toward the end of the discussion, Bruno points out that custody fights can take a long time and cost a fortune. And besides, his mother is going back to Mexico. His mother leaves. As soon as she is gone, Melissa appears and berates Bruno. "No one should come when the merch is in the garage. I don't want to go to jail."
Samantha is standing by her locker at high school. Her cousin Carol (who can't stand Samantha) comes by with some friends. "I was just telling my friends how much I loved your mother." They leave, and a girl comes by. She may have a locker near Samantha, but she seems lost. Samantha asks whether she needs help. The girl introduces herself as Jessica and says she's new in town. Sam says she'll be glad to show her around.
At work, some woman spreads the gossip that Rafael and Loli were seen leaving the building together at 1 am last night. Gasp. Rafael tells everyone that he's making some changes, adding darts and pingpong and better food. Loli comes by and sees that everything has been changed. She asks Rafael's assistant, Angie, why they are dismantling her people's cubicles. Angie explains it's a new look. All the companies are doing it. It helps employees relax and stimulates creativity. Loli goes into Rafael's office and asks, "A pingpong table is going to help people think?" Rafael says yes, a relaxed employee thinks better. Loli replies, "This is not a social club, it's a business, and that's very different. I know the people who work here, and they don't need distractions." Rafael counters with "How are your ratings? To get different results, you have to try something different." He continues to talk about the benefits of change. Loli says it's difficult.
Loli leaves and runs into Vicente, who introduces her to Paulina Castro. Loli already knows who Paulina is, she's a well-known personality, and Loli apparently thinks well of her. Vicente informs her that Paulina will be working at Global Radio, and he wants Loli to produce Paulina's new podcast.
Loli wants to start brainstorming ideas, and she reaches into her purse to take out her small computer, only to find it covered in chocolate. Nicky had apparently put chocolate there, and also something to drink. Loli starts to explain about having just inherited two kids, but she has a meltdown. Paulina tries to help her calm down. She tells Loli she can do it, she has to believe it. Loli keeps repeating "I have to believe it," finally screaming it so it can be heard throughout the building. That seems to work. Paulina invites her to come for dinner. "I can give you some tips about motherhood and talk about the podcast." Loli first says she can't, she has a previous commitment, but then decides to accept Paulina's invitation. She texts Rafael to let him know she can't make it.
Loli leaves the building and sees Sam and another girl across the street talking to a man whose back is to Loli. Loli races over to where they are and turns the man around, prepared to use her protective device on him. Oops, it's Rafael. This time, she's able to stop before zapping him. He introduces his daughter, Jessica, whom Samantha had just befriended at school. Loli is surprised to learn that Rafael has a daughter.
Loli arrives at Paulina's with a bottle of white wine "so it won't stain when I spill it." Paulina is about to go into the kitchen to check on what she's making when the doorbell rings. She asks Loli to answer the door. Loli opens the door--it's Rafael. Both are astounded to see the other. Rafael asks why she's here. Loli explains she and Paulina were going to brainstorm about her podcast. Then Paulina comes over and greets "mi esposo" with a kiss. "You two are married?" asks Loli as the episode ends.
Well, I hate the dead sister's mother in law,
Liela is a wimp that will fall in love with the boss...
what is this soap and rehash of BABY BOOM...DIANE KEATON!!
Thanks, Juanita. Excellent recap as always. I am giving the first couple of episodes a try. If there were just more hours in the day. . . Nice to see Osvaldo Benavides again as well as Silvia Navarro in something nice and light.
Thank you Novelera and Juanito for these two amazing recaps and for getting us introduced to the story.
I checked up the first couple of episodes for Silvia Navarro, but the story is nothing we haven't seen before, so I might pass... It does have some very good actors, Gabi Espino as the antagonists, Osvaldo B, who is aging very well, etc etc...
It's too bad as I really wanted to get back to Telemundo now that Imperio de mentiras is ending.
But I still have Cafe con aroma de mujer to wait for. I LOVE the story and I could probably watch William Levy in everything if the chemistry is right.
Fantastic, detailed recap, Juanita!
Yes, Nora is just awful. Not bad-to-the-bone evil, but self-righteous and NOT self=-aware. I think Nora is the one who made the eggs with nopales that neither kid could stand.
Loli's presentation was apparently different from what Rafael expected. I think the one he saw originally leaned more toward his ideas for the station. Then he was surprised when she presented live radio statistics and IIRC some benefits of Roxanne's style of broadcasting.
Thanks, Juanita, for putting a name to the ghastly Melissa. She's selling high-end knockoffs? And she looks so cheap I can't see why anyone would buy anything.
When Bruno told his mother about going to Thailand, I had a pretty good idea. Later the couple talked and alluded to Bruno having gone to jail. Of course it was Bruno; Melissa would make sure of that.
I think that was Mace that Loli sprayed on Rafael. The scene of her helping him afterward was cute.
Looks like Carol is part of the "in" girls at school. She used English to refer to Sam as the freak. Then butter wouldn't melt in her mouth when she larded on the sympathy.
I sort of remember Carol finding the knockoffs and looking out the window at the kind of thuggy looking guy that is also involved in Bruno and Melissa's scam. She didn't seem that shocked, perhaps figuring out a way to make this work to her advantage.
Many thanks to all who commented.
novelera, thanks VERY much for all the additional information you've provided, including that it was Nora who made the eggs with nopales. So is what made Nicky throw up the fact that he ate some of that dish? That would make a lot more sense.
Ah, Mace. I knew it was something like that, but I had no idea what would affect not just Rafael's eyes but the area around the eyes.
And yes, now that you mention it, I too remember Carol looking out the window and seeing some kind of transaction between two guys. I wasn't sure what was going on, and so I filed the memory in the humongous "come back to this later" file in my brain, where, of course, it promptly got lost.
I was left with the impression that Nickie got sick because Loli's leftover pizza had been around a bit too long. Didn't they show Loli also vomiting?
Thanks, Juanita for a great recap. I found it helpful.
Is it me or is this moving at a very fast pace?
They made it seem like the pizza caused the tummy trouble. You’re probably right, novelera, who knows how old that pizza was. I don’t remember seeing Loli sick, though.
Mace/pepper spray can cause redness and swelling on the skin.
All I can say is the situation between Rafa and Loli has the potential to become a HR nightmare.
I’ll try my hand at a recap tonight.

Thanks again Juanita and Dondi for all your wonderful recaps. Things got a little crazy at work, so we taped the Gran Final and watched it a few days later.
I do love the way the show ended. The flashbacks / bedtime story did take up some time, but I liked it. You really got to see a nice glimpse of just how much Demir was charmed and changed by this brave little girl. I enjoyed reading the comments of novelera, Rgv Chick, and cat lover as well. Thanks again, you all made watching Hija so much more enjoyable thanks to this page. Take care everyone!
