Loli #3 part 1

How long have you been married, Loli asks Rafa, you didn’t mention it the other day. Rafa says, well when we met at the radio station… we weren’t discussing personal things. (so they met at the radio station, huh?) He wants to know about Loli and Paulina. He asks if Pau went to the radio station. Yes, she did. Pau says let’s all sit. Loli says she has to go. But you just got here, says Pau. Did something happen, she asks? Loli says no, but there must be things you haven’t told each other and she leaves. Pau thinks Loli is acting weird. She asks Rafa if she is missing something here.

Rafa is upset he asks Pau, what are you doing here? I miss my husband and my daughter, she says. An opportunity opened at Global Radio and I don’t let opportunities pass me by. Rafa tells her, you and I have a deal. You live in Chicago and I live in LA. He asks again, what are you doing here?

Loli gets in her car. I don’t believe it—my hook up is married. I have the worst luck. Loli calls Mariana and Mariana’s phone rings in the passenger seat. She yells, you died and didn’t take your phone with you!

Flashback: Loli tells Mari, the fool dumped me by text! Mariana tells her, you have the worst luck. They are either married or living with their mothers. Loli says, what can I do? It won’t happen again. Mari thinks Loli will fall in love again. Her problem is she is too trusting. Loli insists it will never happen again. Loli tells Mari she always manages to calm her down. Loli takes a deep breath and snaps back into the present.

Rox and her boyfriend are ready to get busy. Loli calls her but Rox isn’t answering.

Matias and Arturo are at the dining room table. Arturo asks what is wrong? What’s with the sudden attitude? Not sudden, replies Matias, I’ve been feeling like this for months. Since you got your promotion and pay increase. Arturo doesn’t understand. Matias says, Arturo keeps moving up. But he is still Loli’s assistant after three years. Mati thought he would get Loli’s job but Loli is still his boss. Arturo asks, is this why you want a divorce? What can I do to make you feel better? Why don’t you quit? This doesn’t help. Mati says, so you can support me? He jumps up and leaves the table.

Rafa is upset with Paulina. You followed me and took a job where I work, he says. So, I took the opportunity, says Paulina, is it the end of the world? We had a deal; you would finish your book and then we would sign the divorce papers. The book will be out soon, Pau says. How much longer? Rafa thinks this is just confusing their daughter. Pau says it’s only for another couple of months. In the meantime, get used to seeing me at Global.

How could Vicente not mention this to me, Rafa asks. Pau says, this isn’t just about our marriage or your friendship with him. Business is business. I accepted the job offer, she says, it was before you accepted his father’s offer. Pau says that Vicente did this for us. Maybe he hopes to see us back together. He’s not the only one, she tells Rafa. Maybe you will change your mind in the next few months. Rafa reminds Pau they are separated because it hasn’t been working for a long time. Pau tells Rafa she loves him and she is certain that they can make this work.

Rafa says, you had a lover; you are the one who betrayed me. Pau admits she screwed up what else can she do to apologize? Rafa just wants her to accept that what was between them is broken. Pau says she’s there to put the broken pieces back together. She is here to get her family back and she won’t give up easily. Rafa thinks it’s too late.

Loli #3 part 2

Loli is at the bar. The bartender asks for Mariana. She’s dead. What? She starts to tell her troubles to the bartender. Mari was her partner and her best friend. The bartender thinks Loli needs a stronger drink. Loli continues to unload. What is the point of all this? Raise two kids alone. I don’t think I can do it. And my job? I give my all to Global and they give a job to some random guy to be my boss. I can’t deal with this change. Loli downs a shot.

Rox and her and her guy did the deed. She rates him a 9.5 because he didn’t give her a kiss behind the ear. He’s not done yet but needs to take a short break. Rox checks her messages. Loli’s message: come to the bar near the station.

Mati is still worked up. He tells Arturo, you brought us to the US, you got us green cards. The life we have is thanks to you. What have I accomplished? Arturo says, you are my husband; everything I do is for us. Arturo doesn’t know what else to say. Loli texts Mati and he leaves.

Pau says, why don’t we try to get along? It’s only for a couple of months, she will publish her book, start her podcast and establish herself. Jess will have both her parents nearby. Do you think this is good for Jess, Rafa asks? Let’s tell Jess the truth, he says. So she can hate me, asks Pau.

Pau feels if she divorces now, her career and her book deal will go down. Pau wants to tell Jess the truth, but she asks for time. She wants to stop the serious talk for now and toast to Rafa’s new job. And BTW, what do you think of Loli, she asks. What about Loli, he asks? Pau says she’s my producer, but she doesn’t seem focused. I don’t want her personal problems messing things up for me.

Loli is still telling her troubles to the bartender and Rox shows up. Rox says, if you are getting me out of bed at this time it must be bad. Maitas shows up. Grab a chair she tells him.

Sam is texting with her friends. Norita comes in and ask where Loli is. A work dinner or something. Norita thinks Loli is not being very responsible. Sam makes a crack she doesn’t know what her mother was thinking when she left them to Loli. That was dumb, she says. Norita doesn’t want Sam to talk about her Mari like that. Sam says her mother died without telling her who her father is. And what does Norita know, she’s been in Mexico this whole time. Norita raises her voice, I’m here now and I’ll be looking out for you. Sam raises her voice, too, saying, all you want to do is beat Loli because you can’t stand the idea of mom leaving us to her. They yell at each other and Nicky comes to yell at them, stop fighting!

Bruno didn’t make much driving the limo tonight. We have to come up with something to make ends meet. Bruno reminds Melissa that this is all her dad’s fault. Because of him, I have a criminal record, he says. I can’t get a job or get a loan or take in my niece and nephew. They are in deep debt. Mel is worried they will lose their house.

Loli asks about Mati’s life. He says, I asked husband for a divorce today. You’re married? Yes, five years. You were invited to the wedding. She asks if she sent a gift. Yes, a very expensive one. Rox gets a text from her guy, he’s waiting for her. Rox shows them the pic of David waiting for her in the bed with only a pillow covering his bits.

Mati is impressed but Loli doesn’t think he’s a good match for Rox. She says it’s like he’s not enough for her. Rox says David doesn’t care she’s famous. No, it’s not that. Rox asks is it because I’m fat? Drunk Loli insults Rox and her “radio diva act”. Good for Rox, she gives it back, you pretend to be a no-nonsense top exec but let me tell you something, you are scared to death right now. Next time you get me out of bed, it better be something good! Rox leaves in a huff and Loli tells Mati he can leave, too. He should go deal with his husband

Lolo #3 part 3

Rafa and Pau are finishing dinner. You can spend the night if you want, she tells him. Ok, she knows, but they are still married. Pau wants to keep the press calm and move in together. Rafa thinks he shouldn’t be here. Pau feels if they in the same city and the same workplace they should try to get along. He says, that’s good. Let’s get along, do things right and get that divorce.

Loli stumbles home. Nicky and Sam are sleeping on the couches. Norita confronts her. You reek of alcohol. Is this the example you are setting for my grandchildren? Have you considered why Mari left her kids to me, Loli asks? It’s because you have always been obnoxious. You preferred to stay in Mexico and not help our own daughter. Norita tells Loli, you were always jumping from boyfriend to boyfriend and that’s why I didn’t want my daughter to be your friend. I’m not the one getting drunk every night. Loli has heard enough, I put up with you because you are the kids’ grandma. She throws Norita out of her house.

Norita talks to Mari’s lawyer. He can’t invalidate the will. Norita says it is a mistake to leave the kids with Loli; even she admits it. She works late and she sometimes she comes home drunk He tells her she will have to wait for the hearing and then she can tell this to the judge. The hearing will be in a week. For some reason Norita says she has to go back to Mexico and asks, can it be moved up?

Melissa finds she is missing items. She tells Bruno. Bruno calls their supplier. We see it’s Carol who has the merch. She wants her friend to hold it for her. The friend is reluctant, but Carol tells her they can sell it and the friend can keep some of the profits.

Vicente you know we’ve been separated for months, says Rafa. Why did you do this? Vicente thinks this is no big deal. A different environment, a chance to catch your breath and smooth things over with your wife. Rafa tells Vicente he asked Pau for a divorce. This seems to be news to Vicente. Rafa tells him Pau cheated on him and that’s why he came to LA. Vicente asks if Jess knows about this. No, Rafa says, she only knows that we are separated.

Vicente thinks that Rafa should reconsider. They are announcing Paulina Castro’s arrival at Global and she will be a big hit. Rafa wishes Vicente had told him. He asks if Angie can produce Pau’s program. Vicente says no, he wants Loli to produce the show. Vicente wants to make it up to Rafa and treat him to drinks. Rafa gets up and leaves without another word.

Pau comes into Rafa’s office. Were you asking Vicente to cancel my contract? He says yes. And what about our marriage, she asks? Don’t start, he says. Pau calls him selfish. He can’t see that her career and her book and her image will suffer if this divorce happens. Rafa laughs at this because this is all about her. She doesn’t even care about her own daughter. Before she leaves, she asks for one last thing, don’t say anything about the divorce for now. if you leave me alone, he says. OK.

Rox is doing her show and Pau is her special guest. During the intro Rox texts Mati to ask if Loli has come in yet. No, she hasn’t. Rox announces her special guest as the Latina Oprah of marriage and motherhood, the incredible Paulina Castro! Pau promotes her new podcast. Rox’s first question: what does Paulina Castro do to remain happily married? Pau answers there’s no magic, you have to work on it 24/7 and she plugs her new book.

Loli speaks to Mati. She knows she’s late. She needs someone to fix her kitchen. Mati says he will take care of that tomorrow and Vicente is asking for her. She tells Mati to make up an excuse and fill me in later. Loli yells for the kids, they will be late for school! Sam runs in. Nicky’s not here! What do you mean he’s not here?

Loli #3 part 4

Sam is very worried. Nicky heard her fighting with their grandma. Loli tells her this is not your fault. Sam is scared. Loli gets the idea to text the mom’s group. Bad idea. The responses: you lost a child? If Mari only knew. Who is Nicky? He’s been kidnapped? Loli decides to call 911. You have to wait 72 hours to file a report. Sam gets a text. Nicky took an Uber; she knows where he is.

Bruno and Mel are talking to Altimio, their supplier, about items missing from the last shipment. Altimio is clear; he’s an extortionist, he might kidap, beat people up but he doesn’t steal from a client. The doorbell rings. It’s Berta Morales from CPS. I want to talk to you about your niece and nephew, she says.

Turns out Nicky took an Uber to the cemetery. Sam asks Loli not to yell at him. Don’t worry, says Loli, I know he’s having a hard time. They go to him. Why did you do this, Loli asks him? We were worried. Nicky tearfully tells her, I miss my mom. I came to talk to her. Loli tells him, yes, we all miss her a lot. Know what I do when I want to talk to her? I close my eyes and imagine her there. I see her and talk to her, she says.

She tells Nicky to give it a try. He does and he sees his mom baking cookies. Loli asks Nicky if he would like her to bake cookies for him. Nicky says Loli doesn’t know how to cook. No, but she could buy cookies. She asks Nicky not to leave the house like that again. Everyone is in tears; they all hug. Sam tells Nicky she would die if anything happened to him. You are my whole life, she says.

Berta interviews Bruno and Mel. Altimio listens in the background. Occupation? Business people. Annual income? We have to look it up, but it’s not much, Mel quietly admits. Criminal history? Uh, oh. Altimio laughs or coughs, I can’t tell, but he gets Berta’s attention. Bruno says he’s a family friend who came to visit. Berta wants to talk to him. Altimio asks a stupid question, if you committed a crime, what kind of jail would you prefer to be taken to? Mel and Bruno laugh this off. Berta says this is enough for now and she leaves. Bruno and Mel thank Altimio for not saying anything. But Altimio gives them a warning not to treat him like a thief.

Rox is still interviewing Pau. What do you do if a person doesn’t pay you any mind? You need to be patient, Pau answers, give the person space and don’t panic. And don’t lose faith. Rafa is listening to her BS about relationships. Rox asks, how do you know if you found your ideal mate? It’s like magic, Pau says. Loli is listening while driving. She says to the radio, yeah, like the magic your husband used.

Matias gets a text from Arturo. I miss you, let’s not fight anymore.

Rox’s show is a wrap. Pau thinks Rox’s show is great. Yes, Rox says, that’s why she is the star of the station. (point made) Pau asks if she knows where Loli is. She has to speak with her about her podcast. Rox asks why, is she producing your podcast?

Rox doesn’t seem happy about that. Loli walks in. Rox asks her, when were you going to tell me about Paulina? Then Rox brings up the discussion last night. The thing about her weight. Loli doesn’t really remember what she said. She excuses herself saying she’s going through a bad time. Rox can’t be mad anymore and she hugs Loli and tells her everything will be ok. They can discuss Pau later.

Rafa wants to speak with Loli about last night. Nothing to talk about, she says. There is a reason I didn’t tell you I was married to Pau, he says. Loli says, it’s none of her business. She doesn’t care to hear this. Just like she doesn’t care how he sweet-talked her when they met. Rafa tells her he is getting a divorce.

Loli #3 part 5

We’ve been discussing it for months, says Rafa, and we discussed it again yesterday. Loli says, I feel bad for Paulina. She probably doesn’t know her husband goes to bars to pick up women. According to her interview, she loves you very much. Rafa wishes Loli would listen to him. Close the door on our way out, says Loli.

Angie asks Pau how Rafa took her surprise. Pau replies, not well. He asked for a divorce last night. Angie is shocked because Pau spoke so glowingly about her marriage in the interview. She must be in denial. No, says Pau, she came to LA to be with her husband. And your daughter, Angie reminds her. Yes, of course. Pau changes the subject and asks about Loli. Tell her to call me. She tells Angie that Loli was acting weird at her house last night. There something going on that she doesn’t trust. Angie says Loli is supposedly the best producer, but she has only seen unprofessionalism from her.

The ladies are gossiping in the break room about Loli. She’s been acting strange since they got the new boss. Another mentions her best friend died and left her two kids. And of course, Loli walks in behind them and calls them out on their gossip. Did she hear us they wonder.

Norita is at Mariana’s. She is looking at a pic of Mari. Loli enters. Norita asks if Loli is going to throw her out of her daughter’s house, too. No, she came to get Nicky’s stuffed animal. Loli speaks calmly to Norita. She apologizes to her. Loli says, when I needed a place to stay, you opened your door to me. Maybe you were reluctant, but you did it anyway. Loli continues, I’m grateful to you, Nora. It’s normal for family to have differences. One way or another, you and I are family. We both love Mari and her children. Why don’t we try to get along for the kids’ sake? The kids have a family, they are mine, says Norita. Loli gets the stuffed animal and leaves.

Arturo has cooked dinner. He wants to understand what Mati is going through. He bought him a gift. Mati accuses Arturo of not understanding him. He does the opposite of what Mati asks. Mati doesn’t want gifts. He doesn’t want Arturo to pay for everything all the time. He wants to be Arturo’s equal. Mati tells Arturo they both need some space and he’s going to a hotel.

Pau is having dinner with Jess. She made her favorite meal, chicken nuggets and fries. Pau tells her daughter, now that we live in the same city, we have an opportunity. We can get closer. I know I messed up. I want to make up for it. I’d like to be a family again. (I think this is a sly move to get to the father through the daughter) Jess appreciates that she’s at least trying.

It’s dinner at Loli’s. She brought sushi home. Nicky is happy Loli has brought Mr. Coulders. Loli tells Sam to put the phone down at the table. Let’s spend time together and talk, she says, how was school today? Sam shares an incident in Chemistry class; a girl almost burned her eyelashes off. Ah, Loli says something like that happened to Mariana once.

Loli mentions Nicky’s morning trip. Nicky says, it’s his dad who is the traveler. He’s probably in Africa right now. Sam and Loli look at each other. Nicky continues, but when he gets back, he can help us. Loli says who knows when he will be back. Your dad is far away. She gets up to go to the fridge. Sam follows her. Sam says to Loli, are you going to lie to him like my mom did? Loli explains that Mari was going to tell him when he was older. Sam says mom is gone and Nicky is old enough to know his father isn’t an explorer. Loli wants to wait until things settle a bit.

Loli #3 part 6

Doorbell. It’s Rafa. How did you know where I lived, Loli asks? I dropped you off, remember? Loli doesn’t want to talk and asks him to leave. Rafa insists they have to talk. Listen to me for a second, he says. I didn’t cheat on Paulina because Paulina and I have been separated for a long time. Loli doesn’t want an explanation. She wants to know what Rafa wants from her.

Just then, someone else comes through her door. A shocked Loli says, Armando. (Carlos Ponce!) Am I interrupting, Armando asks? Loli wasn’t expecting him. Rafa looks surprised, too. Armando rushes past Rafa, quickly introducing himself as Armando Vallarte. Armando grabs Loli and kisses her. He turns to Rafa and says, excuse me but I’ve been wanting to kiss this woman for months.

And we are out.

Thanks for the recap. I love Sylvia Navarro and I’ve been waiting for this to start. I really appreciate the recap as my Spanish isn’t too great. This looks like it is going to be a good one!

You've done it again, dondi356! Another amazing recap. You've captured everything, including several things I missed or misunderstood when I watched the episode. And I loved your first aside, "(so they met at the radio station, huh?)." ¡muchísimas gracias!

It's a miracle that Mariana apparently turned out OK, given the perra she had for a mother. Even when Loli apologizes to Norita, Norita can only be nasty in reply. I guess she's going to be the character we'll most love to hate.

I knew from the previews that Carlos Ponce was going to make an appearance in this novela, but I was nonetheless surprised to see him so soon. I'm really curious to see what part he (i.e., Armando) played/will play in Loli's life.

I'm not all that good at recognizing faces, and I'm still trying to distinguish among the three teenage daughters with long dark hair: Sam, Carol, and Jessica. At least Jessica has somewhat curly hair--at least I think so.

Such a fantastic recap, dondi! As Juanita said, you (as so very often happens) cleared up some things I totally missed.

The scene with Loli and Mariana on the bed where Loli is unburdening herself about her bad luck with men appears to be quite a while ago. Loli's hair was different, and we heard a baby crying in the background. Mariana waved her breasts and made a joke IIRC about being a supermarket. We don't know if the baby was Sam or Nickie, but it was a while ago. And her talking about her bad luck ties into the title of the novela.

I wonder when we'll see Rogelio, Vicente's father, who probably started the business. But I don't think the genes made it all the way. Rafa mentioned that it was Senior rather than Junior that hired him.

We get more vaguely off-color scenes these days. Definitely a big change from Hija. Rox's boyfriend did the lifting the sheet to look at his nether regions bit.

So how did Pau arrive in town and establish herself in a completely furnished house all ready to serve dinner guests (catered food, I don't doubt)?

I wonder if Paulina is/was the woman Vicente mentioned in his rather coarse allusion to he and Rafa having shared a girlfriend once.

Wonder why the CPS officer was visiting Bruno?

That Carol is one cold, calculating young person.

The mention of "the explorer" made me think of the famous Checkhof quote:

"If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there."

I'm sure that Nickie's father is going to appear at some point.

Yes, this will be very different than Hija. We have a same sex married couple. I can’t remember ever seeing one so front and center in a TN before.

Interesting that you bring up Paulina as the woman Rafa and Vicente shared, novelera. Does this mean that Paulina will end up with Vicente? They seem like they are made for each other.

And I would also bet that we will see Nicky’s dad at some point. Do both children have the same father? I wasn’t clear on that. The father issue is a big problem for Sam as well.

This is very fast moving and it’s very easy to miss details. Recaps will be very helpful.

Giving some more thought to my earlier comment. Nickie's father was a sperm donor. Maybe we won't see him. But I do expect Sam's father, who they've said wasn't from a "flask", to appear.

La Suerte de Loli – Parte 1

We are back to the arrival of Armando after his having launched himself at Loli. Loli introduces him to Rafael and then gives Rafa the bum’s rush. Armando hears a child’s voice. “¿Niños?” he says. Rafael laughs at Armando being unaware and presumably gone for months. After Rafa leaves, Loli tells him about Mariana having died and her having custody of the kids.

Paulina gazes fondly at her own face on her laptop, perhaps her web site. Rafael shows up. He says they need to discuss things with their lawyers. She asks him what’s the hurry. Is there someone…? Then Paulina tells him, if it’s divorce, then she’s asking for total custody of Jessica.

Still at Pau’s house Rafa goes to see his daughter. She beams at him and says that her mamá told her about the second chance for their marriage. Rafael looks like he’s about to choke. Pau comes in and tells Jess that she wishes her father felt the same. [master manipulator at work here]

Loli brings Nicky to the office. Matias comes in with a muffin for Loli, who swears she doesn’t eat carbs, only to eat half in two bites. Then she gives it to Nicky.

Melissa gets ready for, I think, a meeting with other mothers of Carol’s classmates. She’s bored and can’t stand the others being so well off. She finally leaves, but not before guilt tripping Bruno for even mentioning what he did for her father.

After Melissa leaves, we get a flashback to how Bruno ended up in the slammer. Melissa’s father, Marcelino, is talking about a problem with tax evasion in his company. Melissa: “Poor papí. He has diabetes and hypertension.” Marcelino tells Bruno that, if he takes the blame, Marcelino will give him 51% of the company (Big Whoop!). His father-in-law assures him that he has great lawyers. He’ll probably only spend one night in jail and his record will be expunged. [Hah! Bruno told Melissa last episode that he can’t get a regular job because of his criminal record.]

Some guy named Victor calls Bruno pressing him for payback on a loan. Victor says he’s put some guys outside his house to help encourage him. Bruno looks out to see some thugs in a big, black SUV outside his house.

At Global Radio Loli enters Rafa’s office. He wonders sarcastically how it went with Armando. She lets him believe something happened. And she hints that that’s what people who aren’t married can do, without guilt or explanations.

Rafa’s lawyer, Ferrer, shows up and Rafa tells him about Pau asking for sole custody.

Jess and Sam are talking at school. Sam agrees to come over to help Jess study for an exam she’s worried about.

La Suerte de Loli – Parte 2

Rox is talking on her cell with David. He invites her to dinner; i.e., takeout and a movie at her house. Rox has apparently heard this before and holds out for a restaurant. He says he’ll choose a place.

At Global Radio Nicky wanders off looking for a bathroom and Loli, Matias and Rox search frantically. [This is overdone; the kid is not 2 years old.] Then the boy shows up with Rafael, whose helped him make a paperclip tower. Relieved, Loli hugs Rafa, then backs away embarrassed. While backing away she falls over Nicky’s scooter that he left in the middle of the hallway. At this, Rafael more or less orders her to take a few days off.

At Paulina’s house Jess and Sam are studying. When Sam goes to the bathroom, Paulina decides upon this moment to tell her daughter that her parents are getting a divorce. She’s basically blaming the whole thing on Rafael, not to mention choosing this time to break such news when her daughter has a friend over.

While Bruno is on the phone listening to Melissa complain about the other mothers, Nora shows up and waves at the guys in the black SUV. They wave back! Bruno won’t let his mother in.

That evening Matias comes over to Loli's with pizza and a game. He and Sam meet cute, wearing the same tennis shoes. Matias offers to babysit while Loli goes out. She refuses for 3 seconds and then races off to change.

While Loli and Armando are getting busy in Armando’s hotel room, she calls him Rafael. When she tries to say it’s an uncle, Armando says that he met the guy yesterday. They end up saying that they don’t ask each other questions.

David has taken Roxana to some very odd restaurant with animal heads all over the place. When a fan comes up for a selfie with Rox, David hides behind a menu. [Something is off about David.]

Victor’s thugs get into Bruno’s house. To placate them he gives them a lot of the “merch” in the garage.

Matias gives Sam advice about being a “freak” in high school. He was bullied but decided to yawn and then tell them he was very tired from spending the night plucking the feathers off a chicken and drinking its blood. They left him alone after that.

Nicky comes in to show Matias pictures of his father. It appears that Mariana took the photos from the internet.

At the high school the mean girls spy Sam and Jess talking. Carol finds out from one of the others that Jess’ mother is famous and decides to enroll her in their clique. They walk up and invite Jess to a party. Sam is included when Jess insists. Carol is less than pleased that Sam is included but manages to cover it up. One of the girls says her parents aren’t home, so they’re going to have a party.

Nicky dreams he meets his father, dreaming about one of the pictures he showed Matias.

A scene is shown that I’m sure will make sense later on, but not now. A man is shown sleeping in bed in between two women. Rrrring! A woman on the phone addresses him as Octavio. He doesn’t let her explain why she’s calling, saying he works at night. He rolls back over and goes to sleep.

Rafael shows up at Loli’s because he thinks Jess is studying there. The doorbell rings. A policewoman has brought Sam home. She says that she was found inebriated in a car with four other young people. When Loli gently says that she knows Sam is having a rough time lately, but think of the consequences. If CPS found out about this… Sam tells her she’s speaking as if she’s her mother. Well she’s not and furthermore has no idea how to be a mother.

My DVR cut off right after Sam said those cutting words to Loli. There may have been more. I decided to add 5 minutes to the daily recording going forward.

Octavio, the man sandwiched between two women, received that call from a sperm bank. Are we to assume he is Nicky’s dad?

Does Rafa have only white shirts in his closet or has he been wearing the same one for 4 episodes?

Loli looks at another one of Mari’s videos. This one is a sort of pep talk for when things get rough, “take a deep breath and be patient. You’ll learn a little more each day”.

Loli leaves her bedroom and the kids are not there. She finds a note in the kitchen, “You won’t have to worry about us anymore. We left.” We see the kids have shown up at Bruno’s. Sam says they made up their minds, they are moving in with Bruno and Mel.

Many thanks, novelera, for this clear and concise recap, complete with some excellent comments. I noticed as I was watching the episode that it ran past 10PM. After reading your message about the recording being cut off, I went to check on mine. Yup, it too was cut off. I'm glad dondi was able to supply the rest--my mind seems to have shut off when the recorder did. :-(

Wow, Bruno seems good-hearted but hopelessly inept and clueless. Perhaps his being so good-hearted is in response to his mother's being such a nasty perra.

I think dondi's guess about Octavio being Nicky's father is likely to be right. As soon as the woman on the other end of the phone call to Octavio said she was calling from the sperm bank, I thought Aha! I think Octavio wasn't paying any attention to what she was saying. When she said she was not trying to sell him something, she was calling from the sperm bank, he said he wasn't interested in a credit card or insurance, he works nights and she shouldn't call again before 2 PM. End of call.

It will be interesting to see how Bruno and Melissa respond to the kids showing up on their doorstep. For different reasons, I would expect both B and M to say no to the kids staying with them. From a wacky plot point of view, however, it could happen, but not for long.

Thanks so much, dondi, for filling in several things. I completely missed the fact that it was a sperm bank calling, probably because of focusing on how handsome the guy is.

And, that was a cliffhanger ending that I completely did not see. Sam knows that Carol is going to be in that household. I'm surprised she decided to do that.

I'm not looking forward to Melissa's reaction to the children arriving.

More random thoughts. Yes, it is nice to see a married gay couple, even if they are having a rough patch. In Cien Días para Enamorarnos there was also a gay character who fell for a teacher at the school.

And...gasp!...the heroine goes to bed with someone who is NOT the galán!
