Episode 64 Recap (short recap):
1.) Nagging Gardenia is starting to PISS me & everyone else the Hell off. All she does is nag, nag, nag, nag, nag, NAG!

2.) Mags tries to advise Gardenia against putting Eduardo/Franco in the target crosshairs of Psycho Barbara & Co.,

3.) Padre Bosco still getting scolded by Eduardo, whose gone unhinged non-stop.

4.) Meanwhile over at Vlad's crappy apartment: once again this dude needs a damn haircut & shave.

5.) Lucio gets the sucker-punch trick..... he's going to jail LOL.

6.) Nightclub owner gets kidnapped by Artemio's thugs.

7.) Psycho Barbara & Artemio plotting their next move of chaos.

8.) Grupo Lactos: Jackass #1 Annibal meets with Vlad: Fast forward....

9.) Daddy Elizalde & Dumb Fernanda meeting at his office: FF....

10.) Over in Purification: Drunk-ass Dominga still a drunk...

11.) Damian goes unhinged at Ursula for the upteemth time.

12.) Vlad meets with Dumb Fernanda at Grupo Lactos all the while Vlad is still drooling over Priscila.

Didn't make any notes, but may recall a few things.
A bunch of people went hungry. Dalia's "peaceful co-existence" dinner blew up before a bite of food was even placed on the table, let alone consumed. Everyone went their separate ways.
Artemio sat down at Luisa's table, asking her for food. He got angry over her classes at the church and stalked off.

Berenice tells Padre she will probably quit teaching the church classes and only do the school.

Sandy kept nagging Mateo about fancy things they needed for their wedding. He kept telling her they had no money, despite Don Patricio's inheritance. If they have love, they have all they need. Things here not looking so good, because selfish pouty Sandy asked Leo again about making her a model.

At dinner and later, Sabina and Minerva are bashing Valeria for her humble background. She stands up to them. Later, Val tells Leo about some uneasy dreams of her mother, who rejected her and sent her to live with an aunt (?). Leo comforts her.

Tirso has a jail cell visit from Martina (not sure on name), Artemio's new squeeze who has disguised herself with a new hair color. Artemio later visits the cantina, demanding to see her. Esme says she's not there.

Can't recall much else. If you can, add more events or correct what I wrote.

- The nasty tia who raised Vale is in a manicomio, which Leo is paying for. And...she's the only one who knows who Vale's mother is. Da-DUN. (Well, except all of us.)

- Eva is spreading it about that the only reason Luisa is taking adult ed is that she's hot for the padre.

- Artemio is threatening to shut down the cantina because the gals won't behave.

Gracias, La Paloma. Just caught up with it.

You got it right about Valeria having been rejected/abandoned by her mother. We have not yet gotten anything in way of a flashback but we can still hope for one sometime. It would be horrific for her if she also turned out to be a child of Patricio's.

Berenice's mother is very aware of her feelings for Padre Gabriel. There was also a comment from someone else that he is too handsome to be a priest (which is correct by the usual TN casting standards, so there is method in this madness).

Art went to the Inspector (I haven't caught his name) wanting him to close the cantina. He told him that would be a bad move and make the locals angry.

Sandy had some nerve crashing the "family dinner" despite having been Mateo's GF for a long time. He didn't invite her and has shown no interest in his potential inheritance.

The harpies were all stinging each other. Val showed class be refusing to participate in this.

Leo knows more than he admits to. He also has major insecurities and some control-freak tendencies.

QT #18 Part 1

Leo and Matt had a fistfight in front of the stable door. Matt ended up on the ground with Leo saying something about showing him who's boss.

Dalia is spoiling Angelita who showed her what Tirso gave her. Dalia was preparing a basket of food to bring to him. Angelita wanted to go with her but Dalia was reluctant.. However, Ange conned her into consenting. [Is he possibly Ange's sperm donor?]

Padre G saw Matt, who told him about the fight. Leo had accused him of trying to poach Val. Padre G asked him whether this was true and Matt said he was marrying Sandy. Padre G saw this for the evasion that it was. They decided to visit Tirso. [After that fight I'm surprised that Matt still has all of his very pretty teeth]

Leo went back into the hacienda and was waylaid by Sabina, who tried to seduce him. He wasn't having any.

Val and Remi talked about this stuff. He saw Sabina for the gold-digger she is but also said that men are naturally polygamous. [Remi, you could lose me if you persist in that thought.]

Matt and Padre G talked to the Inspector about Tirso. He told them that Tirso's release was conditional.

Angelita packed some things to take to Tirso, which impressed Dalia. Sabina intruded on this and put the kibosh on it. She dismissed Dalia and then trash-talked her to Angelita. She insisted that she had to ask her permission for everything [probably including whether she can have a drink of water when thirsty].

Minnie and Servando went through papers in the office. He cracked the digital lock on the wall safe, but she dismissed him with a few pesos from her wallet before he actually opened its door. When he left the office she looked inside, orgasmed at the sight of the money, and removed one stack (that we saw).

Eva found Art asleep in his chair at his office desk after having eaten lunch. She scolded him and reminded him that she had walked out on him after he had cheated on her. She didn't want gossip about him affecting their daughters and got on his case about Magdalena. She also needled him about Luisa before leaving him to stew.

In the town square Padre G talked with Matt about Art's recent abuses of power. Att was uncomfortable with this because Art would shortly become his suegro. Sandy heard part of this and got bitchy, even throwing Berenice's feelings about Padre G in his face. [This brat is definitely her father's daughter.]

Val brought Leo some coffee and saw a bruise on his face. He said he fought with Matt because he hates him because he had stolen his father's love. Val didn't believe that and Leo went on about not wanting Matt in the house near her or Angelita. Val said in return that she hated Sabina being in the house near him. He said that didn't matter because Sabina no longer existed for him. “I love you,” he said, and kissed her. He extended the kissing when he realized that Sabina was outside the slightly open door watching them.
 

QT #18 Part 2

Matt tried to get Sandy to stop but when Padre G tried to leave the conversation she escalated her accusations against him, saying he had been leading her sister on. She deliberately shouted so that anyone within a mile would hear her. When Matt tried again to get her to stop she yelled at him, saying she was fed up with him defending everyone else from her. She walked away, and Matt apologized to the padre, who told him that this wasn't his fault.

Leo finally got sufficiently annoyed to close the door to the bedroom. Val told him that she didn't trust Sabina. Leo told her that if not for Angelita Sabina would be out in the street. Val told him that Sabina was investigating her. He told her that lots of actresses and models change their names; she was not to worry about it. Val said that it wasn't Sabina that bothered her but her own vague memories. She couldn't just forget this and needed to find her mother. Leo told her that all she needed to know was that her mother had abandoned her. That she was possibly a drug addict or prostitute who would have led her into a bad life. She still wanted closure on this. He finally conceded, telling her she needed to accept that what they find out will not please her. She agreed, and he hugged her.

Berenice's class looks like it's third grade. She went over some geography and then said they were going on to math.

Dalia brought the bag to Tirso, telling him it was from Angelita. He was touched and she said it was because he was a friend of her father's. She wanted to hear stories about her father because she misses him terribly. She handed him a medium-sized Tupperware of food and he put them on his bunk. She thought it remarkable that he and Angelita had connected. He said wistfully that he would have liked to have children. She asked why he had not with his wife, then backed off. He said he couldn't imagine having children with a woman he couldn't love and she said he needed to still look for a good woman he could love. He touched her hands [in a close-up of them] and asked about herself. She said that her happiness is her son and other love has abandoned her forever.

At the pensión, Sandy continued to argue with Matt about Berenice and the Padre. He defended Padre G and she accused him of naïveté, saying that he thinks that everyone is good, like himself. “Not in this town. You turn your back and get stabbed in it.” She then started talking trash about Valeria. He cut her off, saying he didn't want to talk about this. She backed off, tired of the argument. She wanted him to trust her. She said he was as good as his mother but a few words later she mentioned the D word – dinero – which annoyed him. She said she admired his vales and that was why she was in love with him. He did not see the same facial expression we did.

Art dragged Luisa home and yelled at her for cuckolding him with the town priest. She denied this and demanded to know why he was always in the saloon. He claimed that all the men in town are there and everyone knows he is. He then said he would close it; would that content her? She said no and he had no idea what she wanted. She wanted him to treat her well and not be ashamed of her. She wanted to be a part of his life and not hidden away. Because she couldn't read and write. She started to cry. He seemed to calm down as she told him she wanted to be a worthy wife for him. She wants to study for this. He seemed to be remorseful and said to go to only if she can convince Berenice to come back to this. She can't go if the priest is teaching.
 

QT #18 Part 3

Padre G went into the saloon, wanting to speak to Esme and Magdalena. She offered him a seat and he said this would only take a minute or so. He said that Art and the Inspector talked about closing the place and he was certain that there was an ulterior motive for this. Esme told him that this was a personal issue he had with her. The women explained that this was about Magdalena and Tirso's relationship and that Art wanted Magdalena for himself and that they were capable of playing dirty with him if they had to.

Luisa saw Berenice and tried to get her to go back to the adult ed project. Berenice said she would not. Luisa said that Art would not allow her to study if Padre G was teaching. When Berenice told her that was her problem Luisa mentioned how upset Art would be “if he found out you had a thing for Padre G.” What a Mexican standoff.

Sabina went into the den and tried again to gaslight Leo into getting a stiffie. She got a kiss out of him, so she may have succeeded.

Remi ran to Val to tell her he is getting her out of there to a photo shoot in New York. He had enough excitement for three. Matt interrupted his NY fantasies, saying he was looking for his mother. He said he heard what they were saying and was sorry she was leaving. She said it was necessary for her career. Leo would stay at the ranch for now. Matt wished her luck and left. Remi said he looked at her the same was Leo does. Val responded that they were never to discuss Matt again. He agreed.

Leo and Sabina stopped kissing and she said “I win” but he said “No, you lose. If this is all you have to give, I don't need you. Nothing happened.” She laughed. “I still don't believe you.” “That's your problem. And I'm asking a favor. Don't mess with Valeria or you will really know me then.” She mocked this, finally saying that he never would have fallen in love with somebody named Sonia Rodriguez. He said he didn't know what she was talking about. She said that was Val's real name and he laughed in her face and dismissed her. She walked out, closing the door. He looked ill at ease.

Esme packed what looked like a computer disk and gave it to a messenger with instructions to give it only to the addressee. She then called Art to advise him about the gift she is sending him. As she spoke she was looking at the disk that was copied from.

Berenice went into Padre G's office to tell him she will be teaching the adult classes. He was happy about this until she accused angrily him of being Luisa's lover.

The Inspector called on Lionel about a missing person who was one of the thieves he shot dead. He said he had no idea who this was and handed the paper back to him. The Inspector said that was strange because cell phone records showed that there were several calls to his number 24 hours before this man disappeared. “Are you sure you don't know him?”

Matt sat in the kitchen where Val came looking for him. She said she couldn't leave with the unpleasant memory of their last encounter. He had saved her life and she wanted to confess that... she wanted things to be good between them. He said the same, rather awkwardly. She said she would never forget him. He said the same.

Thanks, Urban, for the complete rundown on today's action. I was in and out and missed some parts. I don't think Leo has gone back yet to the diaries/documents he found in the other house.

Luisa makes me a little sad--wanting to be a worthy wife to a guy who's a selfish scumbag.

Odds on Val actually making it to the NY photo shoot?

Not sure how Tirso is related to the others?

It will probably take a while for Leo to do that and he didn't take all of that stuff with him, so he will need to go back. At least he holds the combination to that safe.

I wonder when Minnie's gambling addiction began and when she and Patricio were divorced. Leo needs to force her into treatment for this, but he may not do that until he opens the office safe and finds it empty. I think he knows how much should be there but with his current anxieties will he notice one pack being missing?

Somehow I don't see the photo shoot happening. This series went into production in August 2020 so shooting in New York would not have been happening. Televisa likes location shoots but between lower budgets and Covid that should not have happened. We could see catwalks and photo studios, but no Empire State Building. Besides, Val needs to be near Mat for their relationship to continue developing.

Tirso was Patricio's best friend, or so we are told. The most recent flashback to his wife's murder shows that he didn't do it. The shooter entered the room behind him and shot very carefully. It was a tall adult, fully covered, gloved, and masked. Sabina gets nervous around him, so what was her past relationship with him? How long was he in prison?

Angelita is allegedly Patricio's child. She looks about 7 years old. Based on how Tirso connected with her and the line about him wishing he had had children, could he be her sperm donor? She doesn't look like either Sabina or Patricio; she looks more like Amara.

I suspect that Magdalena is Val's birth mother.

Finally for now, who is/was Mateo's birth mother if he was handed over to Dalia when he was four?

Forgot something from before and saw the new comment.

The hostility toward Valeria is about Sabina accusing her of being what she herself actually is, a gold digger. Remember that Minerva is Esmeralda's sister so Minerva could have been digging for gold when she married Patricio back in the day. Sandy thinks that Valeria is flirting with Mateo. She also envies Valeria's career and has even tried coming on to Lionel, whom she is waaaay too young and insufficiently polished for.

Magdalena's real name is Martina (?) and she has a missing daughter. Lionel seems to know that Valeria is the child of a woman in bad circumstances and has kept that information from her.

And can anyone explain how a woman in her 40s can be illiterate and manage to both run a business and become the 2nd wife of the mayor of this town?

Still many questions to be answered. As far as an illiterate woman running a business, not sure how long she's been doing this. She could have developed her cooking skills and possibly worked with someone older, then took over the business on her own. Not to run her down, but she doesn't seem particularly beautiful to me. Maybe Artemio liked someone he could totally dominate, maybe he likes her cooking, maybe no one else wanted to marry him.

I'm not sure how many others are watching this. Maybe it seems a little simple, but I enjoy it. During these rough pandemic times, this TN suits me just fine.
