Episode 66 Recap (Part I):
1.) Eduardo & Jacinto leaving the cantina unharmed like nothing ever happened. But Jacinto warns Eduardo that his alias as Franco Santorro could get exposed sooner or later down the road.
2.) Over at the Elizalde Mansion, Psycho Barbara decides to help herself by going through Aurora's belongings & personal effects in the guestroom.
3.) While that's going on, Santiago & Aurora both catch Psycho Barbara in the act of going through Aurora's personal belongings & ask questions on why is she in the room.
4.) In order to avoid more pestering questions, Psycho Barbara uses the Alternative Facts shtick. YES: we listen to sinister & conniving music in the foreground whenever we see Psycho Barbara.
5.) Over at Casa Santorro, Eduardo/Franco & Jacinto discuss the situation regarding Nagging Gardenia (who might rat out Eduardo anytime).
6.) Speaking of Nagging Gardenia: she's back at Jacinto & Mags' house illegally going through the box of letters that Fernanda wrote to Eduardo from many years ago.
7.) Back to Grupo Lactos: we see Fernanda inside her office with another flashback (this beautiful Redhead must love flashbacks LOL).
8.) Over at Jacinto & Mags' crib, we see Nagging Gardenia still reading those letters & her evil inner thoughts OMG.
9.) Psycho Barbara offers both Santiago & Aurora some refreshments & some edibles.
10.) When asked by Psycho Barbara on who are her biological parents, Aurora responds that her mother is dead & something I couldn't clarify on her biological father.
11.) The look on Psycho Barbara's face says it all due to the body language.
12.) In the meantime back at Casa Santorro, Steve doesn't trust Nagging Gardenia with keeping her mouth shut regarding Franco's true identity as Eduardo Juarez & with good reason because we see Gardenia smirking very EVIL.
- Val & Mateo say their goodbyes, and he gives her his Virgen de El Rosario medallion to keep her safe.
- Tirso opens a notebook Angelita sent him and finds her drawings and a note that says "I love you, Daddy" and sighs & cries. (Love that heavy foreshadowing.)
- Flashback to Sabina in full riding kit pouncing on Tirso in the stable.
- Sabina and Angelita amass a big pile of pictures of Patricio to hang all over the house (probably just to bug Leonel.)
- Basurto asks for Leonel's phone but he says he, um, doesn't have it on him.
- The Stirrup Cantina girls blackmail Artemio with a video of him and Magda in a compromising position. It gets stuck in his daughters' computer and he panics, finally demanding that electric guy cut off the power to their neighborhood. (!)
- Lots of back & forth over whether Berenice will or will not teach the adult class. Not sure what was finally decided.
Honestly, I find this telenovela boring. I tried to watch it, but I had trouble trying to get into it.
Lana221: I never found this Telenovela boring (considering it debuted in 2008 & lasted until 2009).
Episode 66 Recap (Part II):
13.) Aurora becomes uncomfortable with all of the damn pestering questions that Psycho Barbara is launching at her.
14.) Daddy Elizalde walks inside the office at the Elizalde Mansion & also asks questions as well.
15.) Santiago wants to marry Aurora immediately & declares she's the woman he loves deeply. But little does he know that Jackass #2 Camilo is plotting to steal Aurora right from under him just as he did years before when Erika went with Camilo (we all know how that relationship went...)
16.) Eduardo/Franco & Steve, Jr., discussing strategy & upcoming plans regarding the so-called fiesta at Casa Santorro.
17.) Ugly Dominga is in town, she arrives at the Cantina with whatever she's got holding with her.
18.) Inside the Nightclub Cantina, Ugly Dominga (whose attire is HORRIBLE!) pays up $$$ to the bartender dude.
19.) Over at Jacinto & Mags' crib, Mags catches Gardenia with the box of letters plus the huge box of stuff.
20.) At the mental institution clinic: Martina & Liliana are greeted by Eduardo/Franco & Steve, Jr., who gives Martina flowers & you can tell Martina is overjoyed with the flowers.
21.) While that's going on, Eduardo/Franco asks Liliana questions on Buji Mrs. Palafox & BowTie Palafox's visit to the mental institution clinic many weeks later.
22.) Once Martina brings up the name of Artemio Bravo (the same person that Buji Mrs. Palafox brought it up), Liliana freaks out once again as soon as the mysterious box. This box also freaks Eduardo/Franco out too.
23.) Martina decides it's best time to get Liliana to bed as Eduardo/Franco & Steve,Jr., leave the room.
24.) In the hallway, Martina explains the situation regarding Buji Mrs. Palafox & BowTie Palafox's visit to Liliana & Eduardo/Franco goes off.
25.) Fernanda goes off on Santiago over Franco Santorro at the Elizalde Mansion.
Gracias, Blue Lass.
Something tells me that the Padre has an interesting backstory. He's too handsome to be a priest can't be the opinion of only one or two pueblorinas. Maybe he is Valeria's sperm donor? We haven't yet seen him interact with Magdalena or Val...
Where is the gypsy who says "Las cartas no mientan?"
A gypsy would be fun, UA. And also where is Lorenzo? BRING BACK LORENZO!
I suspect that Padre Gabo killed a man in the ring. We shall see...
Steve, I rather read your summaries than watch MEPS. Thanks for the summaries.
QT
Thanks for the summaries Blue Bass. I am enjoying this one. I like this one better than "Imperio de Mentiras".
I also suspect that, since Padre G hesitated to box again. I wonder whether that was what drove him into the priesthood.
I will have today's summary in a bit. Need to retrieve a package from downstairs and feed my furbabies.
Lana221: The fact that Nagging Gardenia is itching to blow Eduardo's cover & revenge mission against Psycho Barbara could have dangerous ramifications.
Berenice took over the class ad asked Padre G to leave. He complied.
Lionel saw Valeria to the copter. It was their first separation in their relationship. Matt showed up and asked her not to leave. Leo was peeved.
Eva was trying to sew, but it seemed that the electricity was out.
Matt handed Valeria the bag that Sabina snooped through. She needed to have it to keep it away from Sabina.
Two creeps on a cycle shot at Tirso and Magdalena, who were embracing in the town square.
Berenice started a lesson about fractions. Berenice could not do it and walked out. Someone else walked out after her.Padre G came back.
Leo went back home and Sabina kept on his case about the Sonia Rodriguez issue. [People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.] She would not let up. Bitch. She continued to attempt to seduce Leo, but he wasn't having it. She obviously wants him for dinero he doesn't have yet. She then told him about his father's deathbed desire that they find his other son.
Something went wrong with the copter and it crashed on the lower part of a mountain. Mat saw the copter smoke and fall and heard the crash. He tried making a call and the signal was bad. He started riding toward the smoke.
Magdalena and Tirso went back to the saloon, but Esme was not there. Both believe Art was behind the shooting. They talked about where to go and she made him promiseno to do anything crazy.
Matt got to where there was normally a bridge and asked the guys there to help him cross the river. The guys said the bridge was out and it would be dangerous to try to cross on horseback. They also said that the police were useless thanks to their lousy mayor. They had called for EMTs who were on their way to the crash site.
Leo and Sabina talked about the missing heir. He said they should keep this info on the down-low with a comment about if the missing heir is an idiot. She started saying that she had an idea who it might be [maybe the same idea we do] but Dalia came in to tell them about the copter crash.
Inspector Basurto told Art who didn't want to do anything about this, saying that the copter was old, that there were trees in the way, etc. Basurto was annoyed and unlikely to comply with this. As he left Sandy barged in demanding her computer back. Art tried to blow her off by saying it was at the tech. She asked which one and he walked out on her.
Remi crawled out of the fuselage. He found some of Valeria's things, but not Valeria herself.
Tirso told Eva – his cousin – about the shooting. Things had been difficult for him since his release. She said she would help him get a job.
As Matt kept riding on ambulances arrived at the bridge. Leo arrived and got peeved they could not go through. The EMT boss – Gonzalo Peña – told him not to interfere.
Esme, Magdalena, and Camila met in Esme's office. Esme called Luisa but she was not home. They are playing dirty with Art, who richly deserves it.
The three thugs who beat Matt up last week were hanging out drinking beer in someone's car. They talked about the grave robbing.
Basurto was telling Art that there was no news about the missing grave robbers and Art began shitting bricks over both that and the copter crash. He sounded worried over what the governor thinks about his competence as mayor. He started blaming Basurto for this.
Art then went into Luisa's café and began emotionally abusing her. Padre G entered and Art got nasty with him, accusing him of seducing women. Pare G took this to mean Berenice. Luisa looked like she wanted to die behind her counter.
Matt got to the crash site and began shouting Valeria's name. He found the injured Remi, who became hysterical.
Minnie seemed to have had a winning streak at poker. Aaron found her and got her to walk out with him. She refused to recognize that she had an addiction. He tried to get her to face it so she could recover the respect she thought she deserved because of her “rank” rather than blame the other peeps in her life. He wanted her to get treatment.
Matt continued to call out Val's name. He got some water for Remi who begged him to keep looking. Matt kept shouting Val's name, then heard some male voices. Fortunately it was the EMTs.
Tirso went for a job interview but clearly saw a negative reaction when he told the proprietor his name. Game over here.
Sandy chased down Padre G to tell him that he misunderstood her father, who had meant Luisa. She seems to misunderstand equally, asking Padre G why he was going after her madrastra rather than her lovesick sister.
The EMTs got Remi to a clinic. The doctor told Matt that Remi had a heart problem (an infection) and would have to stay for a few days for observation. Peña then told Matt that they had not found Valeria but were still looking. He was not optimistic about finding her alive and well.
Thanks Urban! I appreciate your recaps so much. Saw most of today, missed the beginning. Strange that Valeria was nowhere to be found, living, injured, or dead. Was she confused and wandered off? Was she kidnapped? She can't be dead, because I don't recall any TNs where the leading lady is killed off before the end.
Interesting that Leo and Sabina discussed another possible son. Also liked Aaron's words of advice to Minerva and her saying she lost her house (?) from playing cards "for entertainment." Hope I got that right.
I suspect Artemio will lose his spot as mayor before the very end. Or maybe not--some corrupt political leaders just keep on going.
There has to be a reason those thugs were in the forest. They could have kidnapped Valeria, but I can't imagne her not being injured.
We were certainly right about her not making it to New York.
Thanks for the summaries Urban. I felt scared for Remy and Valeria when the plane crashed. I like Remy and Valeria's friendship. Now, the plot thickens. Where is Valeria?
I do not know why Luisa continues to put up with Artemio's abuse.
Hopefully Luisa will build up some self-esteem by the time this novela concludes.
I don't recall any line saying how long Luisa has been married to Artemio, but I'm going to guess that she has very low self-esteem and it's also possible that her parents' relationship was similar to hers with Artemio. This is a reality she knows; it's possible she doesn't know what a healthy marriage looks or feels like.
In fact, there doesn't seem to be one in sight so far.
This also looks like a town where machismo reigns supreme, which is why Esme is unmarried and the town priest gets the most positive attention from the mature women... and at least one young one.
Minerva apparently now owes Aaron an undisclosed sum. He expected payment by the end of the week or he will impose “a small interest fee.” She tells him she's a big girl and will pay hi back but in the next sentence plays the helpless damsel in need of protection. [I know I've said this before but women like this really tick me off.] Esme came in and greeted them with a louder-than-usual “Buenas!” indicating that she had Minnie's number. Minnie left the establishment and Esme and Aaron talked about Minnie's gambling problem and her inability to love anyone except – maybe – her own son.
Peña gave the usual answers to the predatory press about the copter crash. They attacked himwith one question after another, not giving him an opportunity to answer. One spotted Mateo, said he was the one who found the crash, and they went after him. He was out of his depth in dealing with this sort of human vermin. He had not seen Valeria and had only found Remi. Sandy barged in and led him out. Peña was able to take control and tell them that they will inform them when they knew something but to please respect the family. Leo said nothing through all of this.
That night Padre G was in Eva's house, lit candles everywhere. Berenice came in with one more and they talked about Art going loco over his mistaken notion about Padre G seducing the local women. Berenice asked if Art had become violent and Padre G said “a little; you know how he is.” He told Berenice that he was losing respect as a priest. Berenice started about her feelings again but Padre G was saved from more than he cold deal with by Eva, who came in with another lit candle. Padre G took that opportunity to make a fast exit. Berenice dodged her mother's remark about this and Eva handed her the business card of the geek who had Sandy's computer. She asked what that was abot and Berenice said “only that we need it; nothing else.”
Art talked to Luisa as though speaking to a child who was being bullied in the schoolyard. He was telling her to go back to class while she was going on about being stupid. No wonder he cheats on her. Esme called him and he pretended to be talking business with an engineer. In fact it was Esme calmly giving him hell over the attempt on Tirso and Magdalena's lives. He said he had nothing to do with this but Esme said he had 24 hours to prove this.
Eva told Dalia she had been without electricity all day as she measured her or a new dress. They talked about Valeria, then Tirso arrived. He admitted not getting the job and said that nobody wants to hire an ex-con. He expected that the other towns would be the same, then excused himself and left the room.
Art and Luisa were eating by candlelight and he was praising her cooking when Berenice arrived. When she mentioned picking up the computer and it was home he started choking on his food. Berenice handed him the disk, saying that he should ask next time he needed to use her computer. Art got up to leave to see what could be done about the electricity. Once he was out the door the claws came out. Berenice and Luisa declared war over the heart of Padre G. Luisa added that she will make Art suffer.
Sandy and Matt ate in his mother's kitchen. She wanted to talk about wedding plans; he was not in the mood. He got a call saying there was no news about Valeria, which made Sandy peevish. Her lack of concern about this definitely didn't please him. His concern for Val definitely bothered her.
Magdalena looked through a binder (left by a journalist) filled with photos of Val in fashion ads. She said something about her smile reminded her of herself when young {We seem to have confirmation of a suspicion]. Esme looked at her and the photos and agreed. Magda talked about moving far away for a new life.
Matt tried to get Sandy to understand his anxiety when the copter went down. She obviously has less feeling for such things, even commenting that Val wasn't exactly a life-long friend. She kissed him goodbye and left, taking the wedding invitations and list with her.
Sabina read to Angelita by candlelight, then realized she had fallen asleep. She woke her up to brush her teeth and change for bed. Dalia came in with Tirso, telling Sabina that she had hired him to work at the house, effective immediately. Angelita came in in her PJs, happy to see him. He picked hr up, calling her mi niña hermosa. Dalia grinned. Sabina was struck dumb for once.
La Virgencita to the rescue? Matt prayed briefly to her, blew out the candles, and left the house.
Padre G was awakened by a knock on his door. It was Luisa.
Baurto and Leo studied a map of the crash site area. They appeared to be arguing.
Matt went out on horseback again, his red serape a blaze against deep forest green.
Sabina brought Leo coffee as he found the map online. She pouted when he wasn't interested in anything else. His computer lost its charge and he knocked it off the desk.
Peña and his men kept looking.
Matt arrived home exhausted in the morning. Dalia told him he didn't have to do this. He was sure Val was alive somewhere. Minnie entered the study and woke Leo, who had fallen asleep at the desk. He had had a nightmare that Val was dead.
But she wasn't. She was walking uneasily, barefoot, bruised, and cut. She collapsed, saying Matt's name, then became unconscious.
Dalia cut herself while worried about Matt, what his real feelings were for Val, and how that would hurt Sandy. [Too bad she doesn't see what we see.]
No news for Leo, who then had to put up with two harpies and their p/a comments about this.
Another marital fight between Art and Luisa. Both had been out the night before. She admitted going to see Padre G about someone's dying mother. Art then forbade her to see him or mention his name again. He walked put and she lost her cool.
Leo and a ranch hand went out in the SUV, passing out pictures of Val. Not much reception on his cell phone.
Tirso and Magdalena talked again about starting over while walking through an outdoor market. Tirso paid 40 pesos for a storybook for Angelita.
Nothing on TV re Val (so the electricity must have been restored) and Sandy bitched about how everyone is all over this, especially Matt.
Someone in white pants and a black coat found Val. We could not recognize the face. He had a horse with him.
Matt prayed again at a shrine mounted on a tree. He said that if Val is alive he sill not marry Sandy.
Val was picked up be the old man in the black coat. He is probably a hermit.
