Loli

I'll put up a short recap in a little while.

dondi356

Loli #15 part 1

We don’t hear the offer, but Rogelio asks Loli to think it over. He leaves Rafa and Loli to talk for a few minutes. Loli thanks Rafa.

Marcelino and Bruno talk about the avocado deal. Marcelino wants to hire an armored truck to transport the avocados. He says they are very valuable, and the Russian and Japanese mafia are after them. Bruno is alarmed, what are you getting me into, he asks. Marcelino assures him it’s nothing shady and he will make a lot of money. As soon as Bruno leaves, Marcelino makes a call. We hear him say Bruno is in and he “doesn’t know they were seized” and “he doesn’t know their sale is forbidden in the US”

The kids arrive at Jess’ for their study date. They go to Jess’ room. Carol wants to drink but Jess suggests snacks instead. She asks Carol for help and they leave Sam and Gus alone in the room. Gus immediately walks over to Sam and goes in for a kiss!

Octavio thinks back to Loli telling him he is smart and humble and cool.

Matias shows up at Octavio’s club and finds Apolo sitting at the bar. Apolo asks him if he wants to stick around to watch rehearsal. They flirt with each other. Mati tells Apolo he was almost fired for having him on Rox’s show. Apolo tells him if you are fired, I’ll hire you here. Apolo moves in for a kiss and Mati stops him. Apolo asks, then why are you here? Mati is about to tell him when Rox interrupts. She’s mad Mati is there and he admits he came to have some fun but not the kind of fun she’s thinking of.

Sam is flustered by the kiss and when the girls return with the snacks, she says she has to leave to help her brother with his homework.

Pau praises Angie’s work on her podcast to Rafa. She asks him if he has heard from Loli. He says no, and that he thinks Vicente made a mistake by firing her. Pau badmouths Loli. On her way out, Sam overhears Pau mention Loli was fired. Pau is a real perra; she tells Sam she doubts the judge will care about it. Rafa tries to lessen the blow.

Apolo asks about Octavio’s new found feelings for his son. He promises he won’t tell anyone Octavio has a heart. Octavio tries to deny it and chases him out.

Nora doesn’t want Loli hanging around now that she’s unemployed. Nicky finds out Loli was fired. He asks if she will still be friends with Rafa.

Rox gives Mati relationship advice. Romeo shows up and asks if Mati is here to see Apolo or to see the show. He also thanks Mati because he met Rox through him. Mati leaves.
Loli thinks back to celebrating her success with Mari. Rafa and Loli text. Pau interrupts.

Jess realizes her parents are not sleeping together.

Mati comes home and Art asks for forgiveness. Seems Mati is not ready yet.
Romeo and Rox are in bed. He has noticed that she is not her normal self. When he gets out of bed, she is tempted to check his phone. She tries to unlock and can’t. She puts it down.

Loli is helping the kids get ready for school. Sam mentions a school conference.
Jess calls her parents out on the separate rooms. Rafa says they are taking it slow. She reminds them about the school conference.

Of course, Rafa and Loli sit next to each other at the school conference. Loli tells Rafa it’s nice that Rogelio promised her the moon and the stars, but Vicente gets the last say. We still don’t hear what the offer is because the meeting starts.

dondi356

Loli #15 part 2

Berta shows up at Global. Mati and Rox have to run interference again before the gossipy worker spills the beans. Berta leaves and on her way out, she runs into Bruno. He tells her that Loli was fired. Uh, oh.

Pau shows up at the school conference. She sits next to Rafa. Loli volunteers for the school trip. She tries to volunteer for the Science Fair but they don't need volunteers for that. Pau makes sure everyone has a good laugh at Loli's expense.

Bruno tells Marcelino he messed up with Loli’s social worker. Then he tells Marcelino that Mari died, etc. Marcelino asks about the kids and Norita. Bruno asks him not to tell Melissa he messed up with the social worker.

Apolo texts Mati, he wants to see him. Rox warns Mati and takes his phone.

Pau continues to be a perra at the school conference and gives Loli a hard time.

Octavio calls Loli to ask how she’s doing. She thanks him for calling and he tells her if you need anything, you know where to find me.

After school, Sam tells Jess about the kiss. Gus comes over and tells them that his friend Pete would like to join the study group. Jess doesn’t like the kid but she defers to Sam. Sam tells Gus if he wants his friend there, he can come.

The avocados have arrived and Mel is already counting her money. When they are alone, Marcelino decides to tell Bruno the truth about the avocados. Bruno is angry. Marcelino asks Bruno not to tell Mel.

Mel tells Bruno that her dad gave her and Carol $1,000.

Mati catches Rox looking at dating sites. She’s looking at Romeo’s profile. She’s worried because a bar customer said Romeo was a heartbreaker.

Berta confronts Loli about her unemployment and says her case doesn’t look good. Loli assures her she is trying. She went to a school conference and she will figure her out her work situation.

Loli makes a call, we don’t hear who it is. But we can guess.

Today, the theme of Pau’s show is: is it possible to get back with your ex? Her guest is a sexologist.

Bruno is ticked that Marcelino gave his wife and daughter $1,000. Bruno asks where he got the money, but they are interrupted by the doorbell. It’s Norita. She has great news. She thinks she will get custody because Loli was fired.

Marcelino comes out of hiding to greet Norita. He tells Norita he will be staying for a long time.

Loli walks into Global on Rogelio’s arm. Everyone is there watching as they enter. There must be an important announcement because Rogelio asked for champagne. Vicente tells his dad he didn’t expect to see him with Loli. Rogelio addresses the group saying, I don’t want to take up too much time, but I want to introduce your new Deputy VP of Production….Loli Aguilar. Welcome home, Loli. Applause!

And we are out

loli

Many thanks, dondi356, for this very helpful recap. I'm assuming that Loli will wind up with Rafa at the end, but the writers are at least creating some doubt by making Octavio increasingly warm-hearted and likeable. As you noted, Apolo teases him about his increasing fondness for Nicky, but Octavio is also shown to be understanding and generous to the employee who needs an advance on his salary. Octavio gives him $200 without any hesitation, and he apparently was willing to give him more had the guy asked. And, of course, Octavio also calls Loli to ask how she is and is there anything he can do for her. And as he becomes a warmer human being, he also seems to become more goodlooking, perhaps because he's taking pains to look good for Nicky and for Loli.

I do wish Bruno would just recognize what an empty-headed mercenary leach Melissa is. But since he apparently is incapable of recognizing this, he continually winds up being taken advantage of by Melissa and her crooked father. As Bruno angrily points out, Marcelino put him in jeopardy by tricking him into stealing avocados and harboring a fugitive while he (Bruno) is on parole. And then Bruno finds out that the supposedly broke Marcelino has arranged for Melissa and Carol to each get a monthly allowance (mesada) of $1000! And of course Melissa can only think of all the extravagant things she can buy. And then Bruno learns that, although Melissa had made a plea to allow her father to stay with them overnight, Marcelino tells Norita that he's planning to stay for a long while.

I loved the exceedingly unhappy look on Vicente's face after his father announced Loli's new position at Global Radio. But I don't think Vicente will just shrug his shoulders and give in. Nor, I suspect, will Pau.

Loli

Thanks dondi356 for the recap. As I mentioned when I first commented on this site, I work in healthcare and have been very busy helping with our massive vaccination events since last Thursday, I was able to binge watch yesterday and get caught up. I really do appreciate you, novelera and Juanita crafting these recaps, it is just a challenge to comment too frequently right now.

I really enjoyed watching the evolution of Octavio over the last few episodes. He is business savvy, kind to his employees and seems to have temporarily stopped sleeping with every young thing that crosses his path. I think back to that picture he was looking at in one of the first episodes and maybe he would like to create a family orientation in his life again, even though we don’t know that back story, yet.

The Rox/Mati exchanges make me laugh and Apolo/Romeo just seem like happy go lucky, fun, kind and very “open” guys. The whole bar dancing scenes just looks fun. Have we seen or heard the name of Octavio’s club?

If Melissa is receiving $1000 per month from her crook dad, maybe she should pay off the credit card bill! The avocado story is just silly and unbelievable.

Go Sam and Gus, interesting camera angle for the COVID Kiss. I am sure the introduction of the “friend” to the study group will certainly not add any harmony.

Loli also had a few maturity moments in the last few episodes. I thought she took her termination gracefully and didn’t beg anyone to come back. Global Radio didn’t want or appreciate her so she was going to move on. Papa Global Radio seems to be an admirer in a positive, mentorship way. I don’t think slime ball son is going to be as receptive and will certainly see Loli as a threat. I think Loli and Octavio are just going to be good friends.

Did you see the look on that hateful Angie’s face when Loli walked back in on her mentor’s arm? Paulina is so fake I don’t think she can hide her mean girl side too long. Using her fame to steal the spotlight in every situation possible is so annoying. At least Loli is totally transparent in who she is and recognizes her own failings.

For whatever reason, Nora wasn’t as shrill as she has been the last few episodes. Maybe her heat exposure calmed her down a bit.

loli

Thanks so much, dondi, for the recap! And excellent points by Juanita and VVS.

I am SO not understanding the avocado caper. I thought Marcelino had said something about their not being approved for sale in the U.S. And Juanita mentioned Marcelino's having stolen them. I know there are limitations on produce being imported into California for fear of a harmful to our crops bug getting in. But otherwise I'm in the dark. Thanks, Juanita, for mentioning the mesada Melissa is getting. And, yes, she should pay the credit card bill. But does anyone here think she will?

I think Loli was determined not to come back to Global Radio. She said that once last night. But because Idiotic Bruno spilled the beans to Berta, I think she came back for the children's sake.

Rox confiscating Mati's phone, wow! I don't know why the work behavior in telenovelas still has the capacity to surprise me, but sometimes it does.

One good thing. Rafa seems to be 100% onto Pau's passive-aggressive behavior toward Loli.

I can't tell where they are going with Mati and Art. They'll probably patch things up, but Art can't seem to stop saying out loud that he's the real breadwinner.

Good on Jess for not being wild about Gus's nasty little "friend" joining their study group. I suppose we'll be treated to his trying to be all over her. Is he Pete? Can't remember. Didn't someone call him a Jason Bieber wannabe?

Hi novelera! I think Pete is the name of the Justin Bieber wannabe! It did seem that Art and Mati might work things out, but I also think Apolo will get Mati up on that stage to shake his groove thing before long!

Yes, the avocado caper, (perfect title) is confusing. I think you are correct that Loli swallowed her pride and came back for the kiddos.

I agree that Rafa has Pau's number, will it end in her demise as the Mexican luv guru? She has a lot of women (notice none of the men have a clue who she is) snowed. More men know who Rox is for sure!

Loli

Thank you, all for reading and for filling in the rest of the episode with your great comments. VVS, thanks for being out there on the front lines in this time of crisis.

Glad we get to see another side of Octavio. I like this Octavio. Loli seems to like it, too. Even if they don’t end up together, I like the idea of them being parenting partners.

I remember Romeo referring to Octavio’s place as “Hunky Bar” and there is a big sign that says Hunky.

Rogelio seems to be a wonderful man. What happened to Vicente. That apple fell far from the tree and rotted.

Add me to the list of those who think the avocado caper is stupid.

I had the same thought that Melissa should pay some bills with the 1K. Better yet why doesn’t Marcelino directly contribute to paying some bills?

Agree that Loli considered the children when she went back to Global. She's on her way to becoming a mom.

Yes, Gus’ creepy friend is Pete but I think the name “Dick” fits him better.

dondi356

La Suerte de Loli - #16 - p 1 de 3

Everyone (well, almost everyone) seems delighted that Loli is back at Global Radio. Rogelio announces that Rafa will be in charge of live programs, and Loli will be in charge of Podcasts.

Vicente is not at all pleased about Loli's return. In his office, he berates his father for going behind his back. Rogelio in turn is unhappy that Vicente didn't consult him before firing an employee he esteems. Vicente replies,"So what is this? Revenge?" Rogelio tells him, "I gave you the company, I supported you, I satisfied your every whim, but this I cannot permit." Vicente whines, "It's almost as if you love her more than me."

Norita (hiss here) tells Marcelino how much she appreciates all that he has done for Bruno (little does she know!). She says she hopes the avocado project turns out better than the Thailand project that never materialized. Marcelino looks perplexed. He doesn't remember the Thailand project. Bruno refreshes his memory--"You know, when you sent me to Thailand for six months in your place." Clearly, this is how Melissa explained Bruno's absence for six months, rather than telling Nora that her darling son was in jail because of her (Melissa's) father. Soon after this, Nora leaves. When they're alone, Bruno lights into Marcelino for telling Nora about the avocados. Bruno doesn't want her involved. Marcelino tells him the faster they sell the avocados, the less danger Nora is in.

Octavio calls Loli and tells her that he picked Nicky up from football because she forgot. Oops. She tells him she'll be right there. She tells everyone celebrating her return that she has to leave, and out she goes.

Nora tells Marcelino that she has friends who may be interested in the avocados. However, she wants Marcelino to say nothing about this to Bruno. It will be a secret between the two of us. Marcelino says he doesn't like to keep secrets from his family, but he'll make an exception this time.

Loli arrives at Mariana's house to find Nicky in tears and Nora smugly angry. Nicky sobs to Lori that he was scared when she didn't come. He was afraid she had died like his mother. Loli assures him she's very healthy, and promises that she'll never forget again. And then she announces that to make things easier, she's moving in to Mariana's house. Nora is not happy about this, but legally she can do nothing, since Mariana left the house to Loli along with the kids.

Rafa and Vicente are having another, um, friendly chat. Vicente says, "Can you believe my father? He walks in arm in arm with Loli. He leaves no doubt that she has his support. Wait till I find out who told him I fired her." Rafa tells him that he thinks Loli is the best VP Vicente could have. "Better than you?" asks Vicente. "I hope so," replies Rafa. "For your sake, for the sake of the company." Vicente then tries again to get Rafa to admit his feelings for Loli. Rafa simply repeats that he thinks Loli is the best.

Sam too is on Loli's case about forgetting Nicky. Then Nicky tells Loli all the things he needs for school. By tomorrow! Loli immediately leaves to try to find everything Nicky needs. Nora tells the kids, "Lori is your mother's fault, not mine."

Marcelino says that since Melissa made dinner, he and Bruno can do the dishes. Carol asks her grandfather whether he would take her on a shopping trip the next day. Marcelino agrees. "What's money for, if not to spend on those I love?" Melissa reminds him that he still has to talk to the most important person, her mother. He has to tell her (tell her what?) He tells Melissa that he's waiting for the right moment.

La Suerte de Loli - #16 - p 2 de 3

When Marcelino and Bruno are alone, Bruno asks him where he gets the money. He doesn't get a straight answer. Then Marcelino asks why they're doing the dishes by hand. Where's the dishwasher? Bruno informs him that they can't afford one.

As Mati is talking to Rox, he gets a text from Apolo. Mati tells Rox that it's from Arturo, and that Mati has to leave.

Loli is on the phone with Octavio. She thanks him again for picking up Nicky and promises him that Nicky won't bother him again. Octavio insists that Nicky is no bother, and that if it happens again, Octavio would be happy to pick him up. Loli also tells Octavio that she's moving to Mariana's house to be closer to the kids.

Pauline is uneasy with what Rogelio did. She warns Rafa that one day, Loli might want to be the only VP and ask for his head, and Rafa should watch out. Rogelio supports her. Rafa maintains that neither Rogelio nor Loli would do something like that.

Bruno can't sleep, and it doesn't help that Melissa is snoring very loudly. He wakes her up to get her to stop snoring, and he tells her he's worried about the avocados. Melissa assures him it will all be OK. He repeats, "It will all be OK." But then he realizes that no, it will not all be OK. "The avocado business is not good for us. It's not good to have them in the house. Would you believe it, your father did it again!" Bruno looks over and sees that Melissa is again asleep and snoring.

Since he can't sleep, Bruno takes his pillow and leaves the bedroom. Suddenly, he overhears Marcelino talking on the telephone. "I know I promised to tell my wife. No, I won't be hiding all my life." A woman's voice says, "I'm tired of your promises. And I miss you a lot." (Why are able to hear quite clearly her end of the conversation?) Marcelino assures her that he misses her too, and he promises that soon they won't have to hide their love. He then proposes that they get together tomorrow. She agrees, and she tells him, "Since you showed me your merch, I'll show you mine." Bruno, out of sight, is stunned. "You SOB, he thinks. "No more lies, no more surprises. Yeah, right."

Mati arrives at the location Apolo suggested. He doesn't see Apolo. Rox calls and asks where he is. He claims he's at home. She claims she's at home. Apolo spots Mati. Mati tells him, "I shouldn't have come." Apolo moans that all the good-looking men are married. But he suggests that he and Mati can be friends, right? Mati agrees. And then who should appear but Rox. "You lied!" she says. "You lied too," Mati replies. "Yes," she says, "but I'm single!"

Loli again talks to Mariana's photo and then watches one of the videos Mariana made for her. She then walks down the corridor and overhears Nicky say "Loli said she moved to be closer to us," and Sam replies, "Don't be hopeful, Nicky. She probably won't last 2 days."

Loli takes Nicky to school and helps him carry all the supplies he said he needed. At school, she introduces herself to one of the teachers. The teacher asks whether Loli will also take over Mariana's volunteering duties. Loli agrees. We then see her standing in the middle of the road in front of the school with a STOP sign, directing traffic.

Rafa comments on how beloved Rogelio is in the company. Vicente replies, "No matter how many investors I bring to the company, I'll always be seen as Rogelio's son."

Octavio sees three guys beating up one guy. He races over, beats up all three, and takes the victim, a teenage boy, back to his place so he can treat his wounds. (When does he start to wear his halo?)

La Suerte de Loli - #16 - p 3 de 3

Sam tells Gus that yes, she liked his kiss, but he should have asked. Gus asks whether she'd like to go bowling later. Perhaps with Jess and Pete. Sam lets him know that Jess doesn't like Pete.

Loli enters Global Radio to a round of applause. She is told Vicente wants to see her. She tells Mati to wait for her, she has a proposal for him.

Bruno insists on driving Marcelino to his appointment. With a smirk, he adds, "And when you're done, I'll take you home. How much time do you need? 30 minutes? 15? for your cita."

Loli goes to Vicente's office. He greets her with "Don't think I'm welcoming you back. You feel empowered, right? Supported." Loli responds that she earned this position and she's going to prove it. Vicente tells her he'll be watching her. Loli asks, Are you threatening me?" "Only the weak threaten, and I'm not weak," warns Vicente. "That makes two of us," replies Loli.

Octavio treats the beaten-up boy's wound and asks him, "Shouldn't you be in school?" The somewhat hostile boy asks, "Are you a cop? You've been asking questions since I got here."

Rox comes by looking for Romeo. She spots him coming down the stairs and proposes that he come back home with her. They could try out some of the toys mentioned on Paulina Castro's podcast. He tells her he has something already on for tonight. Suddenly, Rox remembers that she too is busy, with Luis. And the next day, with Paco. And the day after that, with Hugo. And she leaves.

Loli tells Mati that she wants him to produce Rox's show. Mati fears she's playing with him. She assures him that she's serious, and that she thinks Mati is a pro. He's thrilled!

Rafa suggests to Loli a toast to celebrate her new position. She's not really feeling like a toast. She tells him she's having difficulties with being a mother. Her mother died when she was young, and she didn't get along with her father, and so she doesn't get the mother thing. She continues, "Modern mothers should be more flexible and communicative--at least, that's what Paulina Castro's books say." Rafa asks with astonishment, "You read her books?" She replies, "I want to know who I'm working with." In her thoughts, she adds, "And whose husband I'm gunning for." Just then, Paulina arrives to congratulate her and invite her for dinner. She tells Loli, "You could bring your boyfriend. Armando, right?" Loli stammers, "Right. No. Um...See..." And the episode ends.

loli

Wow, terrific recap, Juanita! And great asides. I especially liked "When does he get his halo?"

I thought the reverse, but what you said made more sense. I thought Loli was in charge of live radio and Rafa podcasts. So this means Loli supervises Paulina. There's going to be a lot of sabotage in Loli's future.

After griping about the lack of a dishwasher, Marcelina walked off and left Bruno to do the rest of the dishes.

I wonder where they're going with Octavio and the sullen teenager. Will he begin to work with boys either in a gang or at risk of being in one. Shades of Bajo el Mismo Cielo.

Vicente gets slimier with every episode. What a whiny jerk! Could not believe all the "he loves her more than me" stuff.

I'm starting to be over Rox. Everything she does is extreme.

Bruno finally has a weapon to use against Marcelino. And Viewerville would also like to know where he gets this money he's squandering on Carol and Melissa.

Can we hope that Norita does a stretch in the slammer for HER involvement in the avocado caper. What a crappy judge of character she is! She fawns over Marcelina and attacks Loli at every turn.

Loli

Great recap Juanita! So much detail that I seemed to have missed in those many fast-moving conversations!

dondi356 thank you for cluing me in that the bar name is Hunky Bar. I heard Rox say it last night and there was a bright orange neon sign in Octavio’s office that I seemed to have missed all this time!

I found the Vicente and Daddy Rogelio story line very interesting. Vicente (the slim) has lived a life of privilege and was just handed the reins to Global Radio. He clearly thinks that power is just that and does not realize that to have real earned power, you must first garner respect. I didn’t like the undertones of why Loli had the respect of Don Rogelio from Slimeboy or Paulina. They skirted around her sleeping her way to the top without really saying it out loud. I think there will be a lot of tension and sabotage in Loli’s future as VP.

Rafa remaining so even tempered with both Slimeboy and Pau’s comments regarding Loli was impressive.

So now we have Octavio saving the teenage street urchin from a bad beating (too bad Octavio had his shirt one during this display of machoism and muscle!). Could it be that Octavio grew up on the streets too? I would have liked to have seen/heard the call from Nicky to Octavio asking him to come pick him up from practice.

I just cannot get into the Bruno, Avocado, Melissa, Marcelino story. The only good thing I thought might come out of it is if maybe Norita is the one sent to “Thailand” this time around!

Very happy to see Loli finally moving in with the kids, she should have done that right away to help them stay sort of stable. I was also pleased the Mati will finally receive that much deserved promotion. Again, thank you for providing these recaps!

Loli

Thank you, Juanita, for a wonderfully descriptive recap with spot on asides!

I don’t have much to add to the recap or to the great comments by novelera and VVS. I’m in agreement.

I think Rox hides a lot of sadness behind her extreme behavior.

Wondering if Mati will get up on stage soon.

I’m dreading the study group drama that’s setting up.

Orange is the new black, Norita! Forget about custody!

dondi356

loli

Thanks very much, novelera, VVS, and dondi356, for your excellent comments. Looks as if we're all hoping that Norita gets thrown in jail, or, as VVS put it, she's the one sent to Thailand this time! As dondi356 reminds us, "orange is the new black."

novelera, I too am tiring of Rox's extreme behavior. Then again, many of the characters in this novela could be said to have "extreme behavior." I guess that's part of what makes them funny, at least for a while. And I think dondi356 may be right that in Rox's case, she may be hiding a lot of sadness behind that behavior. Perhaps we'll eventually find out.

Speaking of extreme behavior, I'm getting tired of Loli's extreme behavior. Some of it is unintended, as her twice crashing into Rafa. But there's also her agreeing to take on all of Mariana's volunteer duties. Mind you, Loli has just gotten a prestigious job at Global Radio. Even before that, she had trouble handling both her job AND her new childcare responsibilities, but now her professional responsibilities are increasing. So what does she do? Agrees to take on all of the volunteer work Mariana did. It's hard for me to believe that she's so capable at work when she has no idea of how much she can do and when to say no.

Yes, novelera, Bruno finally has something on Marcelino. But does he have the cojones to follow through against his beloved Melissa's father. So far, all it takes is one sad or angry look from Melissa and Bruno caves.

I too am wondering where the novela is going with Octavio coming to the defense of the teenage boy. Surely Octavio's halo doesn't need any more polishing.

loli

Juanita, great minds, etc. I also was astonished by the writers having Loli insist on taking over all of Mariana's volunteer projects. She's JUST been promoted to the job of her dreams. Only in a novela could a character imagine she could do all of these things well.

Gracias, deb, for the links to People en Español. So sad we won't get to see Colunga in Malverde, but the article did say he signed a contract with Telemundo. So we may see him in something someday. He left because of the high rate of COVID-19 in Mexico.

Also of interest, I discovered that Netflix is showing the rest of 100 Días de Enamorarnos. I was wondering when, or if, Telemundo would finish the story. The article seemed to hint that Telemundo might show those episodes some time. But I may find time to watch it on Netflix.
