I will try to put up some sort of recap later tonight.

La Suerte de Loli - #10 - p 1 de 3

As the episode opens, Nicky is very sad. He calls Mati and asks him for a favor. Mati listens to what Nicky wants (but we don't hear it) and says, "Wow, that's a big favor! I hope Loli doesn't kill me."

We then see Octavio looking at a photo album that seems to show family photos. I have no idea where he is nor whether they include photos of him as a boy.

Melissa has hired the thugs to break the wall she was pounding on in the previous episode. The thugs break through the wall. Melissa puts her arm in the hole and finds a small metal box. It contains...a key.

Rafael and Vicente are having a chat. Vicente is trying to find out how things are going between Rafa and Paulina, and also what Rafa thinks about Loli.

Armando calls Loli. He tells her he's still waiting for her call. He promises that he'll help her get rid of her stress.

David and Rox are in bed and apparently have just had sex. David asks whether Rox forgives him. She keeps him guessing, but it's clear that she's feeling better about him. His phone rings. He answers it and apparently texts a reply. He then says he's going to take a shower and leaves the room. A short time later, his phone rings again. Rox calls out to him several times, the last time saying she is going to answer it, but apparently David is already in the shower and doesn't hear her. She picks up the phone and finds a bunch of texts. One, sent by David, shows a good-looking young woman who David says is Anastasia, a 20-year-old Russian bikini model. Apparently he's claiming she's his girl friend. A few texts later, one of David's friends says, "Oh, now I see. I thought it was weird that you were with that fat woman that we saw at the bar." Rox is devastated.

Vicente is continuing to pump Rafa for details about how things are going with Paulina, and especially about his feelings for Loli. Rafa tells him that he and Paulina are trying to work things out. And Loli? asks Vicente (again). Rafa admits that Loli is very good looking, and he's attracted to her, but that's all. Nothing more. Vicente grins.

Bruno comes home and sees an axe on the floor and a hole in the wall. He frantically tries to call Melissa, but he gets no answer. We then see Melissa in the safe-deposit room at the bank, about to open a large safe deposit box.

David comes out of the shower, and Rox confronts him. "You went through my texts," he complains. He maintains that Anastasia is no one, just a friend. Then he says he got the photos off the Internet. Then, he says that Rox is a public figure. Rox reminds him that at the start, David said he didn't care that she was a public figure. Finally, Rox says, "You want them to think you're dating a Russian model instead of me. That's why you took me to a strange, out-of-the-way restaurant, and why you took off when your friends arrived. Get your things and get out of my house!" (I cheered when she said this, but somehow I don't have confidence that she's going to stick to her resolve. I hope I'm wrong.)

The conversation between Rafa and Vicente continues. Rafa explains that he met Loli at a bar the night before he began work at Global Radio. And it was also before Paulina arrived from Chicago. Moreover, Loli has a novio. Perhaps more than one. There's Armando. And Octavio.Vicente accuses Rafa of not being able to get Loli out of his head. He tells Rafa that he, the boss, wants good ratings. For that, Rafa and Paulina should get along. As for Loli--see it as a temptation.

La Suerte de Loli - #10 - p 2 de 3

We finally see what the favor was that Nicky asked of Mati. Mati delivers to Octavio drawings that Nicky made, including at least one of his family, including Octavio. In addition to the drawings, Nicky also included a photo of himself.

Finally, Armando and Loli are making out hot and heavy on the couch. Yup, the phone rings. It's Octavio. He tells Loli, "OK, I'll meet the kid." He explains that "the kid" sent him drawings and a photo. He apparently wants to get together with Nicky soon and get it over with. Loli thinks more time is needed. But Armando simply hears her making an arrangement to meet with another guy. She finally explains the situation to Armando. He tells her, "Between the kids and your job, I don't fit in. Maybe another time. Another life." He leaves.

Melissa excitedly opens the large safe deposit box and finds...another key! She's really annoyed, and calls her father an SOB. There's apparently also a card.

Rafa arrives home and sees the table set with wine. Paulina says that Jess is studying with Sam, so it's just the two of them. A good opportunity to talk. Rafa says he'll shower and then they'll have dinner.

At work, Octavio shows the photo of Nicky to a friend and tells him that he and Nicky are going to meet. The friend says he thought this wasn't Octavio's style. Octavio tries to give the impression that it's not important to him.

Bruno goes crazy with relief when Melissa comes home. He thought something terrible had happened to her. He asks about the hole in the wall. At first, she tells him that she heard rats, but then she says she can't lie to him and tells him that her father told her he hid a box only for emergencies. Bruno asks, "What was in the box? Or do we have to wait for an emergency?"

I think it's Mati who suggests to Loli that she give Octavio some tips, so he'll know how to be convincing as the explorer Nicky thinks his father is.

A down-looking Rox comes to the studio. She tells Mati and Loli that she broke up with David, and that he sent his friends a photo of a Russian model and said it was his girlfriend. Mati and Loli are supportive and sympathetic. She did the right thing. However, Rox points out that all this happened at the worst possible time. Today is the first simulcast of her program.

Melissa and Bruno have just entered a very large house that clearly hasn't been lived in for quite a while. This is apparently the house that the second key was intended to open. Bruno wonders why Melissa's father wanted them to see this house. "Could it be that he's finally done something good for us and given us this house?" Melissa finds a cellphone with a video on it made by her father. In the video, he tells Melissa that the house belongs to a friend of his who owes him a favor. This is where he is/was hiding while Bruno was in jail. "Forgive me," he says to Melissa. "I tried to keep my word but I couldn't." He tells her that if she wants, she can stay in the house while Bruno is in jail. Both Melissa and Bruno are furious, and she tells Bruno "I'm going to use this house for something much better."

Rox is determined not to screw up this simulcast of her show. She puts on a good face and says in a cheery, animated voice "Good Morning, this is Wake Up, LA, with Rox Estevez." She continues, "I want to tell you all something at the start. Don't let yourselves be cheated on like dummies. People must accept you as you are instead of going around telling their friends that they're dating a Russian model. I'm Rox Estevez, this is Wake Up LA, and today we're being simulcast on video!" Everyone applauds.

La Suerte de Loli - #10 - p 3 de 3

Suddenly, two cops come into the studio. They say they're looking for Rox Estevez. They've come to arrest her. Rox hears them say this, and she protests, "But officer, I had only 2 tequilas last night." Loli is upset, and she tries to go onto the set to talk to the police. Mati stops her and tells her that they're not cops, they're strippers from Octavio's club. Rox was very sad, and Mati wanted to cheer her up.

Sure enough, the two "cops" start taking off their shirts. One does so in front of Rox, the other near Mati. It doesn't take long before Rox is definitely enjoying the performance! (And, I admit, so was I!) Just then, of course, Rafa arrives, and demands to know what's going on. Mati tries to explain, and Loli, as his boss, takes full responsibility. Meanwhile, one of the strippers, Apolo, recognizes Loli and tries to remind her that they've met. She stries to maintain that she's never seen him before. The stripper who was entertaining Rox tells her, "If you ever need my services, honey...." Apolo does the same with Mati. Loli orders them out and they leave.

Rafa is upset. Loli tries to explain. Rafa tells her that he's not upset with the strippers. Indeed, they'll probably be good for the ratings. What's bothering him is that Loli didn't tell Rafa (not that she could have, since she had no idea this would happen). He warns her, "Next time, Vicente may walk in, and I won't be able to defend you."

It looks as if Gus may actually be interested in Sam. He arranges for another study meeting. Jess won't be able to make it, so it will be just Gus and Sam. He tells her they can study while having hamburgers.

Octavio is looking at photos of Nicky on a cellphone. He sees one of Sam and Nicky. He's somewhat disconcerted to find that Nicky has a sister. He calls one of his colleagues over and asks, "Does this girl look like me?" The guy says no and asks whether she's family. He then leaves. Octavio worries that perhaps he has a daughter, too.

We see Melissa and Bruno struggling to carry some large items into the neighbor's house. Melissa is pleased that the lamps they've bought are almost exactly the same as the ones they took. Bruno asks, "What if your father found out you sold everything in that house" (the one for which he'd given Melissa a key). Now we understand how Melissa and Bruno were able to afford to replace all the neighbor's furniture that they'd taken.

Loli and Rafa are again talking about what happened during the simulcast. Rafa wants to know who Octavio is. Loli is about to tell him, but she notices that one of his shoes is untied. She thinks he should tie it. Of course, his arm is still in a sling, so she offers to help. Rafa is sitting in a chair, and Loli gets down on the floor to help tie the shoe. Of course, at this moment Paulina comes by and sees Rafa sitting on the chair and Loli doing who knows what kneeling on the floor in front of him. Loli then raises her head up, and she and Rafa exchange The Look as the episode ends.

Loli

Thanks Juanita for the terrific, very detailed recap! That adorable Nicky sure knows how to worm his way into even Octavio’s “no kids for me” heart. It will be cute to see Octavio tries not to like Nicky. I wonder if Octavio has a family history of abandonment because those pictures in that old hidden album looked like something that really pained him to see again.

Rafa and Vicente’s discussions are pretty guy like but I think Vicente is trying to get dirt on Rafa for possible future use. One of you ladies mentioned in an early post that Vicente may be the guy Paulina had the affair with that damaged her marriage to Rafa. I think that assessment is correct.

Bruno and Melissa, not sure why this story line is in there but its funny how easily both have turned to a life of crime. At least Melissa now knows that her Popi had not intention of ever helping Bruno.

The Rox/David story is uncomfortable. I do like how supportive Mati has always been of Rox and now that Loli has been forced to see past her own past selfishness as a coworker and friend, she did try to cheer Rox up. The YMCA strippers from Octavio’s place were wowzah and made me literally laugh out loud watching everyone react. Mati and Apolo might still have an opportunity!

Looks like Loli is going to have to change a lot more in her life to move forward with a new one with the Sam and Nicky. I think Armando’s departure is just the start. Loli sure likes that knee pad position even if it is innocently tying Rafa’s shoe, Pauline can’t help but “go there!”

Let us hope that Gus really is a nice guy that the cute quarterback from the movie Sixteen Candles. Sam deserves to have a nice guy really like her.

I was so glad to have an Abuela Nosy Norita and Prima (don’t remember her name) free episode.

loli

Terrific recap, Juanita! And great asides.

Vicente's bar conversation with Rafa was an "ewww" for me. I know they are friends long before Rafa worked for him, but still. It could not have been more inappropriate. I got the impression that Vicente wanted some juicy details. That leer on his face! But, of course, he finished off with: keep Pau happy so the money from her parents keeps flowing. He also hinted that just maybe his father sees him for what he truly is and he HAS to make a success of Global Radio.

So I guess that was the last we'll see of Carlos Ponce. Of course this is more typical telenovela plotting, in that the heroine only has something going with the hero. I rather liked that they had Loli go to bed with someone else to break the pattern.

Come on! That cell phone in the empty house kept its charge all that time so that Melissa could see papí for who he truly is.

Melissa herself used the axe to break into the wall. IIRC the thugs refused.

Thanks for clarifying that Melissa and Bruno sold the furniture in that house. I was confused. I thought they were just using that furniture to put in the house and thought What? Why would the neighbors not notice different furniture?

Can't understand why Octavio would think Sam might be his daughter. Sam is 12 years older than Nicky. Does this mean he was "donating" for many years. Or just bad writing.

I suppose the strippers showing up when Rox was doing her first video call-in show will mean fantastic ratings. Doubt Vicente would really mind, despite Rafa's concern that he expressed to Loli.

loli

Thanks VERY much, VVS and novelera, for your great comments.

VVS, that's an interesting theory about possible abandonment of Octavio as a child. It's certainly true that the scene where he is looking at the photos in the album was not well-lit, perhaps to give us a negative vibe. And there was no explanation for where Octavio was or who the young woman was who spoke with him (his sister, perhaps?). All this increases our sense of mystery and perhaps uneasiness.

I love the word "wowzah" and wish it had occurred to me as I was writing the recap. :-)

And I too was delighted not to have to see or hear Annoying Abuela or Conniving Cousin Carol in this episode.

novelera, Darn, I think you're right about it being Melissa who actually broke through the wall. I remember wondering as I was writing. Had it been earlier in the evening, I'd probably have gone back and taken another look, but...Thanks for the correction.

Yes, it's clear that you, VVS, and I suspect that Vicente is up to no good in his "friendly chat" with Rafa. My guess is that Vicente wants Paulina for himself. One way to achieve this is to keep emphasizing Loli to Rafa until finally Rafa and Loli Do The Deed, thereby motivating Paulina to divorce Rafa (in spite of being the media's matrimony queen) and marry Vicente. But Vicente has to be careful to SEEM to want the Rafa/Paulina marriage to succeed, while doing what he can to undermine it.

Great point about the cellphone that has kept its charge for years! I guess Telenovela Techology partakes of the same magical efficiency as Telenovela Medicine and Telenovela Airlines.

As for Octavio's worry about Sam possibly being his daughter, I'm trying to remember whether it was in this novela or somewhere else where the mother set out to use the same sperm donor she'd used before. Was that something Mariana said to Loli???

Loli

Fantastic recap, Juanita. Thanks so much.

Welcome, VVS! Glad you decided to join us on the patio. And thanks for clearing up that Octavio was looking at Loli’s phone when Rafa called.

I don’t have too much to add to the great comments.

The Rox/David storyline is uncomfortable for me, too.

Vicente is a snake. I wonder if his dad is a slime, too. I believe that Vicente has a very personal interest in what happens between Rafa and Pau. But is it because of ratings or is it because he wants Pau?

Mati and Apolo? Interesting. But I would really like to see Mati and Art to ultimately work things out. I wonder if Mati will somehow get roped into moonlighting as a stripper. If he keeps up the lie about his promotion and raise, he will have to bring in extra money.

I can’t do a recap tonight, but I can take Wednesday.

Re Sam's father. My memory is of Sam's father being "He who shall not be named". I interpreted this as his having been a really bad father who abandoned Mariana and his child. . When various people, IIRC, have mentioned Mariana's children I thought there was a difference in the descriptions. Sam's father is out of the picture and Nicky's came from a "flask". I am pretty sure one of those disparaging comments about the fathers of Mariana's children came from Norita.

This is why I was confused about Octavio's thinking he was Sam's father also. I thought he only donated sperm once. But it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong!

loli

I can do a very brief recap tonight. I was planning on Wednesday, but I'm happy to let dondi do that one.

loli

Thanks very much, dondi356. It looks like we're all pretty much in agreement about Vicente's being a slimeball. I was interested to see how much of last night's episode dealt with the "friendly chat" Vicente had with Rafa. There were at least three different segments to the chat, possibly four. It's as if the writers are hammering home the importance of what's happening there.

Right now, I'm not feeling uncomfortable about the Rox/David storyline, probably because Rox confronted David and threw him out. But though she's strong in some ways, she's vulnerable in others. I'm hoping she has the strength not to go back to him or (even worse) ask him to come back. If that were to happen, I'd be VERY uncomfortable, not to mention disappointed.

Like you, I'm hoping Mati and Art can work things out.

loli

Thanks, novelera, for your recollections of what was said about Sam's father. I have a vague recollection rather similar to yours. I guess the recollection about a mother seeking out the same sperm donor for her second child comes from another program/news article/overactive imagination.

I might add that I don't think Octavio donated only once. I think that's one reason he had the nightmare about all the kids at the beach calling him Papá.

Looking forward to your recap tonight and dondi356's tomorrow. I'd love to see someone volunteer to give Thursday or Friday a try.

OT

I just read in “People en español “ that Colunga is leaving the “Malverde” project. Wah! 😫

OT

Thanks for the news, Jarifa. What a disappointment! Did the article say anything about why Colunga is leaving?

OT

Juanita, in the article it said "a source" had said it was the Covid 19 situation in Mexico that was to blame.

Loli

Is anyone else having a hard time understanding the dialogue? With all that background music and SN's rapid fire speech, I lose half of the conversation, even though my Spanish is pretty good and I don't use CCs.

SN speech was hard to understand in MCET also, so much Mexican slang!

Osvaldo Benavides is so handsome as he has aged.

I've never seen a good portion of the cast before.

loli

As I mentioned this will be brief. And...one thing was for sure...TOO MUCH NORA!

After last night’s scene where Loli is kneeling to tie Rafa’s shoe and they gaze longingly at each other, she babbles some excuses and leaves.

Nasty little Angie rags on about Loli having strippers on Rox’s show (that she calls the fat woman’s show). Pau tells her that Rafa and Loli have something going on.

Sam tries on all her clothes trying to come up with the right thing for getting together with Gus.

At a bar (Octavio’s bar?) Loli gives Octo a thick script for his time with Nicky. He’s not willing to tell the explorer lies. He also says it’s tonight or never.

The snotty little jocks tease Gus about liking Sam and Gus, of course, says it’s only about studying. One of the nastiest wants also to be in the study group, but with Jess, who he thinks is hot.

When Octo arrives at Mariana’s old house, Loli tries to control when he meets Nicky, but Nicky takes one look and runs to throw himself in Octo’s arms, calling him papí.

Pau is at home looking at old home movies on her laptop. Rafa comes in and they reminisce about their early days together.

During dinner with Octavio, Nicky, Same, Nora and Loli, Octo tries to delicately ask if he was also Sam’s donor. Sam, horrified, says no. Somewhere in this episode, I forgot when, we learn that Sam’s father disappeared as soon as he found out that Mariana was pregnant.

When Octo says he owns a bar, Nora is aghast. She spends the rest of the dinner alternating between insulting Loli and insulting Octavio.

It turns out that Bruno bought some cheap TVs as part of restoring the neighbor's stuff in order to save some money. They are eating a lavish meal. Carol, as self-centered as always, takes a huge plate of seafood and doesn’t actually eat with her parents.

From what is said in the morning, it appears that Pau succeeded in seducing Rafa.

We see a flashback where Mariana and Loli pretend to be a couple to get the sperm donation.

Pau has to go to Albuquerque and Loli calls Bruno to take her in his limo.

Nora calls Bruno to rag on and on about Loli being incapable of being a mother and how awful Octo is.

While in the limo Pau is clearly bored with his constant chatter about how his wife admires her. Then he mentions Loli in the middle of talking about his family and Pau’s ears perk up. Looks like Bruno is telling her everything.

Nora comes to the bar. She’s horrified at the place. She tells Octo that she came to make sure he won’t try for custody of Nicky. Octo assures her she’ll never see him again.

Looks like Loli and Rafa are in the office, perhaps on the weekend. No one else is there. We see another Loli accident as she bumps into him spilling hot coffee all over his chest. More intense looks. They kiss.

loli

Thanks so much, novelera, for this fine recap! I totally agree with you--we had to put up with far too much Nora!

There were, of course, lots of ridiculous scenes, but the one that got my attention for its improbabilty was the scene at the bar where Loli hands Octo what looked like a 300-page bound and printed account of "his" life, that he is supposed to memorize for his responses to Nicky. I don't know which is more absurd--that someone could write and print such a document in a day, or that Octo (or probably anyone else) could and would be willing to read it through and learn the material in a day. Not surprisingly, he didn't bother.

I'm beginning to wonder about Gus. It's quite possible, as I think you imply, that he's putting on an act for his buddies but in fact genuinely likes Sam. However, unless I missed something, he failed to show up or call her.

Nicky is certainly one adorable kid. Apparently the same actor, Diego Escalona, played Carlos Ponce's son Angel in La Doña 2, but I don't recall taking much note of him in that novela. He's got a much better role in Loli

Loli

Great recap novelera! Completely agree with you, way, way too much Nora. That woman is a shrill hyena and just mean.

Victoria: I am totally with you! I am having a very difficult time understanding Loli and Octavio’s dialogue. Way to fast and so much slang, not even the CC catches it very well. There was a lot of stuff going on in this episode and hard to keep track of everything.

So, I know we really would like Mati and Arturo to work it out in their marriage but after one session of couples counseling, it seemed that Arturo was even more pushy and condescending to Mati about opening up and sharing his feelings. When Mati did try at the dinner table, off goes Arturo to solve some architectural crisis. dondi356, I like your idea of Mati becoming a dancer to earn more money and cover his promotion/demotion story. Maybe Apolo can be one of those decadent desserts on a menu, you can be on a diet but still look at the menu. 😊

With Bruno blabbing in the car to Pau, we finally learn what happened to Sam’s dad. I thought Octavio did a nice job not following Loli’s 300 page fake storyline and share who he really is, even being proud of being a bar owner. (take that Norita!)

Rafa and Pau have a way to go especially with Loli stumbling around and Rafa not trusting Pau after her affair with whoever (our money is on Vicente the slim ball right?)

The jocks were totally giving Gus a hard time about meeting Sam. Too bad he left her plantada. He could have just text he had a late practice. The friend is only interested in Jess for one thing.

Melissa/Bruno/selfish daughter, I am really not interested in that story line at all.

Looks like we are going to the beach tonight!

Loli

Thanks, novelera, for recapping and for switching nights with me. I’m sorry I don’t have much time to comment today.

Norita — me cae mal.

Angel (Diego Escalona) in La Doña 2 got a raw deal. They killed him early in the story. I almost stopped watching because of that.

LOL, VVS. Take your pick of “decadent desserts” at Octavio’s.

I will do the recap for tonight’s show.

Loli #12 part 1

The kissing continues until it is interrupted by Loli’s phone. Rafa needs to lean on the counter to keep upright. It’s Nicky calling but we don’t hear his side of the convo. He must be asking about Octavio because Loli tells him to remember he (Octavio) wasn’t sure about it. I can take you to the beach, she says. Yes, she can swim but she doesn’t know how to paddleboard. They will figure it out. I’m on my way, she tells Nicky.

As for Rafa, Loli is sorry. Nothing happened, Loli says, I just dumped coffee on you and now I have to go. I’m teaching Nicky how to paddleboard. She keeps on yammering and Rafa can’t get a word in edgewise. She runs out.

Art has big trouble with work. They were asked to stop the project. Something about defective materials and the client wants to start from scratch without paying a cent. An whole year’s work is in the trash, says Art. Mati asks him if he will work over the weekend. Art says no, the weekend will be for us. Mati says how about some movies and mezcal cocktails. Loli calls; Art doesn’t want Mati to take it but he does. She asks if he knows how to paddleboard. He doesn’t, but Art knows. Good, says Loli, I need him to teach Nicky. Let’s meet at Mariana’s in an hour. Mati says they already have plans. But Loli tells him he owes her for bringing Nicky’s drawings to Octavio. Art gives in and says, let’s go get the board.

Bruno comes home and the neighbor is there. Melissa says he came to tell us about what happened last night. The neighbor says they arrived home from their trip and all their electronics weren’t working. Neighbor asks if this is happening to Bruno and Mel, too. Of course, Bruno and Mel lie saying their stuff isn’t working either. Neighbor says they should file a complaint with the power company. But he’s not too worried because he has insurance. Once he leaves Mel asks Bruno if he cut the neighbor’s wires. Bruno doesn’t say it outright, but it seems he did. He gives Melissa the book signed by Pau. She’s thrilled.

Rafa is home. He closes his eyes and thinks back to the kiss. Jess comes in and asks if he’s ok. She tells him Sam invited her to sleep over. Can I go? He babbles—Loli?... Sam? Yes, that’s the only Sam that Jess knows. Jess thinks her dad is acting weird. He agrees to take her to Sam’s house.

Mati and Art go to storage to get his paddleboard. Mati finds Art’s trophy for dancing. And one for basketball. I suppose this doesn’t help Mati’s self confidence.

Bruno speaks to Nora on the phone. She tells him she was at that guy’s bar. And she cleared everything up. He’s not going to ask for custody of Nicky. Melissa is not interested in his conversation with Nora. Instead she asks his opinion on how much she can get for Pau’s signed book.

Carol comes in to ask if she can invite Sofi for a sleep over. Mel says of course, and then Mel goes on and on about how she was so popular in school. Carol has heard enough and walks away. Meanwhile Bruno is trying to fix the hole in their bedroom wall.

Loli thanks Mati and Art for coming. Nicky comes down and Loli tries to get him excited that Uncle Mati and…she forgets Art’s name… will teach him to paddleboard. Nicky would rather wait for his dad to come and teach him. Loli reminds Nicky that his dad didn’t promise, but Alfonso…uh, Arturo… here is an expert. Nicky is disappointed. Loli suddenly takes off and leaves Nicky with Mati and Art.

Loli #12 part 2

And just like that Loli is transported with Rox to Octavio’s club. It is sailors’ night at the club. Loli must have told Rox about kissing Rafa because Rox asks what if someone saw you kissing? Loli assures Rox she didn’t kiss Rafa, it was just spur of the moment. Rox looks at the act on stage and asks Loli if she has some dollar bills. Loli reminds Rox they are not here for that. She took Rox along because she was depressed about David. Well, Rox isn’t depressed any more. She says, who can think of David while looking at these guys? Loli goes off to find Octavio. Rox grabs one of the dancers and says, what if you and I get lost at sea for a little while?

Loli busts in on Octavio as he’s making moves on a woman. What are you doing here, he asks. I already spoke to Nicky’s grandma. I told her I don’t want custody. All I’m asking is for you leave me alone. They argue about Nicky in front of the woman. Loli leaves. The woman asks Octavio, you have a son? No..well…yes… I love men with kids, she tells him. Just call me daddy, says Octavio. Score!

Rafa drops off Jess. Nicky comes down and tells Rafa how Octavio blew him off and that his dad is an anonymous donor. Nora comes in and Rafa introduces himself. Nicky adds that Rafa works with Loli. Nora asks Rafa if he would like to stay for dinner. Loli arrives and asks what is Rafa doing here.

Rafa is enjoying dinner. He tells Loli he came to drop off his daughter and since she doesn’t live here, he doesn’t need her permission. Nora insists that Rafa eat more. Nicky is picking at his food. He’s disappointed his dad didn’t show. Rafa tells Nicky he will teach him to paddle board and he will teach Loli, too. Nicky perks up. Can we go tomorrow? Rafa’s stomach starts talking, Nora’s meal is wreaking havoc on his digestive system. Loli points the way to the bathroom.

The dancers talk backstage talk between acts. One of them went for an acting audition and didn’t get the part. Another tells him to forget Hollywood. Doesn’t Hunky Bar pay the bills? The most important part is it allows you to be with a different girl every night, he says. Then he points at Apolo and says, or a different man if you prefer. Then he tells the others, do you know who is waiting for this hot chocolate? Rox Estevez! And apparently Hot Chocolate ( I think his name is Romeo) will go with anyone, guy or girl, who is willing to pay. The discussion gets heated and the “actor” and Romeo get in each other’s faces. Apolo has to push them apart.

Loli checks up on Rafa. He’s polluted the bathroom. Meanwhile, Pau calls Rafa and Nicky picks up the phone. He tells her that Rafa is in the bathroom. Pau is not too happy to find out that Nicky is Mariana’s son and Loli is there as well.

Bruno overhears Carol and Sofi talking about selling the knockoffs.

Pau demands someone to find her a flight to LA today. She doesn’t care the cost or if it’s in coach. There’s a storm and this will delay her return.

Hot Chocolate Romeo wakes up hand cuffed to Rox’s bed. He says he has dance class to get to. She says no dance class today, due to the earthquake. What earthquake? Rox slides over to him and says, here comes the aftershock!

Seems Nicky has changed his mind about going to the beach. If his dad doesn’t come, he won’t do it. (I thought he wanted to go with Rafa) The doorbell rings and it’s Rafa. He’s feeling better and apologizes for the night before. Let’s forget about it, Loli says. Nicky tells Rafa he doesn’t want to go to the beach. But Rafa tells him he will teach him to paddleboard. So Nicky runs off to get ready. Rafa and Loli start to talk about the kiss. And that’s when Octavio shows up.

Bruno talks to Carol. He asks her, did you take the merch from the garage? She doesn’t hesitate to cop to it. Bruno is shocked, you stole from us! Carol says, you lied to me! Melissa wants to know what they are talking about.

Loli #12 part 3

Nicky is ecstatic that Octavio is there. He doesn’t let go of him. Rafa didn’t expect to see Octavio and neither did Loli. Rafa says her personal life is none of his business. Jess spills the beans that her dad is lousy at paddle boarding and he doesn’t even own a paddleboard. Rafa BS’s about being a champion paddleboarder.

Nora is ticked to find Octavio there. Then Octavio’s conquest from last night comes in. Octavio is using Nicky to hook up with this woman. Nora insists on going to the beach if Octavio is going.

Romeo is making breakfast. But Rox tells him she will take care of it. He notices something is wrong; a little while ago she was very happy. She’s feeling weird. This is the first time she’s done this. He asks if this is her first time with a man. Nooooo. She means sleeping with a stripper. Rox asks him if he always goes home with women he meets at the bar. Well, he does, but he doesn’t wake up with them or make breakfast for them. She asks if he is doing this for money. He admits he charges but for her…. breakfast with the stripper is free. The doorbell rings. Rox thinks it’s the neighbor. Surprise! It’s David with a big bouquet of roses!

Why don’t you send them to the Russian girl, she tells David. David says there is no Russian girl. Rox says, so there’s no Russian and there’s no “gorda” either. Romeo shows and asks if this is the neighbor. David wants to know who this guy is, and Romeo wants to know who David is. The guys start to argue. Rox steps between them. She is the one who decides, and she throws David out.

Mel asks again, so what’s up? For some reason, Bruno doesn’t tell. He makes up a story about Carol’s homework and Mel retreats to the bedroom. Carol and Bruno continue their convo. Bruno explains that this is just temporary. He promises Carol she will have her own car soon. Promises, promises says Carol; she’s heard this before. Bruno assures her it’s different this time. He will get rid of the knockoffs. And he wants her to stop selling the knockoffs. She agrees and then shuts the door in his face.

We are at the beach. Octavio asks Loli to help him apply his sunscreen, but she declines. Octavio’s girl is off talking to Nicky. Loli calls Octavio out on using Nicky so he can hook up. Octavio says he doesn’t need a kid to get a girl and besides, he thinks this is a win-win-win for everyone. He gets the girl, the boy spends the day with him and Loli spends the day with Rafa. Loli clarifies that Rafa is just her boss. Ah, Octavio makes his living knowing what women want. And it’s clear that Loli wants Rafa. Did he say she wants to eat him like a sausage sandwich? Loli claims she’s on a diet and Octavio is talking nonsense.

Rafa starts showing Nicky how to paddleboard. Of course, Octavio comes and takes over the lesson. And of course, Nicky wants his lesson from his dad. Understandable. We see Nora complaining about Octavio and the lack of supervision over Nicky.

Loli calls Mati. He’s in the shower so Art answers his phone. Loli tells him there’s no need for them to come to the beach because Octavio showed up. Then she asks Art to please ask Mati to send her schedule for the week. Wait, he still does your schedule, asks Art? Art is quick to understand. Mati comes out of the shower and Art confronts him, you are not a production coordinator. You are still Loli’s assistant.

Loli #12 part 4

Back to the competing paddle board lessons. Octavio’s girl wants some attention but he’s too busy with Nicky. Loli tells Octavio his girlfriend left. Octavio doesn’t care; he’s having a good time with Nicky and Rafa, too. Loli says she’s going for a swim and Octavio takes a good look at Loli as she walks away. Rafa pushes Octavio.

Mati comes clean to Art. He didn’t want Art to think he was a loser. Art doesn’t think Mati is a loser. It doesn’t matter what job Mati has; he is bothered that Mati lied. Mati thinks that’s easy for Art to say. Art unloads his own worries. Turns out that Art might lose his job. The boss wants him to take the fall for the multi million dollar project that fell through. Mati had no idea. Art says that Mati was so wrapped up in himself, he didn’t take notice. Mati is sorry. Art tells Mati to stop worrying about what he doesn’t have and to worry about what he might lose.

While Octavio and Rafa continue their petty arguing, Nora runs up and shouts for Nicky. Seems he went into the water while no one was watching him.

Bruno brings Pau home. Nosy Bruno asks why she was in such a rush to return to LA. She says it’s a show. She’s going to do a show about lies that harm a relationship. She gives the example of catching a husband having dinner at an employee’s house and vomiting in the bathroom. Wow, Bruno thinks that’s very specific. Bruno thinks Pau can spin off from there. He gives the example of fathers who lie to their children. Bruno leaves and Pau realizes no one is home.

They get Nicky out of the water. He’s ok but he’s crying and he’s sorry he went off like that. Nora is angry and she gets so worked up she faints.

And we are out.

Muchas gracias, dondi356, for another wonderful recap. It covered everything, even some things I missed, such as Melissa's asking Bruno how much he thinks she could get for the signed copy of Pau's book. Wow, she seemed so delighted when Bruno gave her the book. Is there anything that woman cares about aside from money and her looks? I guess she cares about Bruno and Carol, or thinks she does, but perhaps it's just that no one has made her an attractive-enough offer for her to give them up.

As for Bruno, apparently he simply doesn't live in the Real World. Does he really think that his lack of money is "only temporary"? Does he think that simply promising Carol that she'll soon have a car of her own will make it happen? And that his spoiled, dishonest brat of a daughter should have a car of her own?

I was happy when Rox told David to go back to his Russian model, whether she exists or not. And she kept the flowers. Romeo seems fond of Rox, but somehow I don't see him in a long-term relationship with her. But who knows?

For me, the best part of last night's episode was when Nora fainted at the end. I guess it's too much to hope that she winds up in a long-term coma. (What? Nasty? Moi??)

Loli

Holy smokes dondi356 you missed nothing in that whirlwind episode! I seemed to have missed a lot like Octavio using Nicky to score the date. Thank you!

I thought it was funny that Octavio ending up teaching both Rafa and Nicky how to paddle board. It is unfortunate that they kept trying to one up each other allowing Nicky to head to the water alone. Ay Juanita, you and I just don’t like Nora. When she fainted, I thought “good, now stay that way!”

I was proud of Rox tracking down her “policia” who danced for her at the studio earlier in the week, sharing an “earthquake” and “aftershock” with him and then telling David to shove it where his Russian didn’t shine. Romeo was funny establishing the boundaries of what was to be paid for and what was gratis (breakfast). Very cute.

So I am not as annoyed with Art in this episode as it looks like he might come from a family who put a lot of pressure on him to be successful based on the trophies and sports gear. Working in a high stress job when things aren’t going right can certainly make one a bit self-centered. It is nice that both were willing to help Loli with the paddle board lessons. Plus, Art seemed okay with Mati’s job, just not the lies.

Rafa/Loli are just an earthquake ready to happen.

Thanks so much, dondi. Terrific recap.

Juanita, I'm meaner than you. I said to myself: "I suppose it's too much to hope for that she died."

They have never really explained Octavio being in bed with two women, twice IIRC. And now he's pursuing a third? Really, Telemundo, we got it already. The guy is a lothario. I'm wondering if someone will show up that he'll settle down for.

It seemed silly that Rafa was trying to compete with Octavio. Octavio brought a girl to the paddleboard silliness, so he probably doesn't think he and Loli are an item.

In a way I'm starting to understand Carol. She's probably given up on her two parental twits and is looking out for herself all the time.

David actually forced his way into Rox's place for a minute, was up in Romeo's face, and had to be pushed out the door.

I think I see two parallel situations here. David, owner of a fitness studio, doesn't want anyone to know he's with an overweight woman. But he does really love her and will eventually get her back and get over his shame about it. And Gus really likes Sam and will eventually tell his little group of clique boys that, yes, he's dating Sam.

Thanks, everyone, for reading and for the great comments.

Nora and Melissa are competing for top spot on my “S” list.

novelera, yes, Octavio is a “lothario”. A common TN character. But it’s more interesting that there are two women, Rox and Loli, who feel free to express their sexuality. I know you mentioned this about Loli before.

I’m wondering if Octavio will try to seduce Loli. Loli might go for it. They’ve looked each other over a couple of times.
