Loli recap for Monday

Hi all! Recap will be done shortly. I was computer challenged this morning!

Loli – Monday, March 8th
Part 1 Sorry for the delay, we have terrible winds here today and the internet was down for awhile!

Loli answers the door and apparently Octavio is now her go to guy for all things drug and drink related. Octavio shares with Loli and Sam that unfortunately there have been times that women’s drinks are spiked at his bar but it is more common at other bars and on dates. Loli comments that she searched the internet and found this to be a very common, unfortunate occurrence.

Octavio asks Sam how she is feeling and if she remembers anything. Sam semi-lies (keeping her promise to Jess) and says she is better but doesn’t remember anything. Loli and Octavio discuss the option to take Sam to a hospital (I say YES!) but since she was seen by a doctor the night before and does not have secondary issues, Octavio recommends she drink a lot of water. In a very heartfelt way, Sam once again apologizes to Loli and leaves to rest.

Loli thanks Octavio for coming so quickly to help her and says she needs to leave to meet with Rafa at the school. Octavio is concerned that she has too many things on her mind and he will drive her, Loli agrees. She says she did listen to his message and asks if he brought the DNA test with him. Octavio says he left it with his lawyer to draw up the letter she requested. Loli thanks him and says let’s go. Octavio looks very uncomfortable, but off in the Chevy El Camino we go.

At Hunky Bar, Bruno is trying to demonstrate his Tom Cruise bartending skills to no avail. He keeps breaking bottles of liquor. Apolo, looking dapper in his firefighter outfit, tells Bruno to use limes in a cup to practice, otherwise he will not have a paycheck. A classy, more mature woman is at the bar winks and tells Bruno to put the broken bottles on her tab.

Apolo then recognizes and introduces Dona Catalina, a long-time customer who has not been at Hunky for a while. Smiling, drinking and flirting outright with Bruno (it must be really, really dark at Hunky Bar) Catalina apparently had been traveling with her new novio who was unfortunately attacked by a shark and died. She came to the bar to drown her sorrows.

Apolo gives Catalina the VIP treatment, escorting Cata to “her” table. Apolo tells Bruno in hushed tones not to screw it up with her because she has tons of money. Catalina, drinks and smiles at Bruno from her table.

Jess and Rafa have a quick conversation in the kitchen. Jess doesn’t want to talk.

Loli – Monday, March 8th
Part 2

Cut to Chisme HQ with Paulina and Vicente. Pau is furious about the situation with Jessica and claims that it is all Loli and Rafa’s fault that her daughter has reacted this way. She continues to blame Sam’s influence on Jess that might potentially cause another scandal about Paulina Castro’s daughter being a drug and alcohol addict. (Way to go Paulina, always about your image). Vicente tells her to relax and chock it up to those teenage years of locura. Slimeball claims that he will take care of Rafa and Loli (Uh oh) and he and Pau should plan on a long weekend to celebrate her divorced success. Pau claims she is not ready, ducks an attempt to office smooch and heads off to do her show.

Rox gets an angry call from David. Leave him alone, its OVER and stop having her fans send stuff (I did not quite get what) to the gym. Move on Rox, this guy is a loser.

Jess is at home in bed looking at waterfall adventures while kayaking when a set of photos hits her phone. She is horrified (as am I!) that the Pig of the Year Pete took pictures of her half dressed and he looking like a good time was had by all. What a Jerk!

Melissa is busy making cupcakes to sell. Carol comes in and laughs at her Mom’s attempt to make money and tells her not to even consider selling those at school. The Horror!

Angie graces us with her presence bringing Pau a box of letters and card that have been sent to the station all supporting Paulina in her divorce and infidelity issues. Angie says her new book The Perfect Divorce will be a best seller. (gag me).

Rox is home and goes live to talk more about letting go of David and asks her fans to stop bothering him, its over. Now, Cesar the mysterious suitor from the program joins and Rox and her fans convince him to send his number so she can call him. They talk for two hours with Cesar making Rox go through imaging what he might look like. She has several iterations of handsome men running through her imagination and we cut to the mysterious back view of Cesar sitting in very red-looking bar or restaurant telling Rox they will meet soon.

Loli– Monday, March 8th
Part 3

Pau make a disgusting play for even more pity on her radio program discussing infidelity where she hasn’t the need to bring in an expert, because she is one. (Yes ma’am, the expert in being unfaithful)! She laments the heartache and deception and I can’t listen anymore.

Mati joins Art by the pool on a hot day with Art wearing a turtleneck sweater. Mati tells him to go change into something cooler. Art shows Mati the great catering service he has found for their wedding vow reception. Mati gets upset about Art planning a paying for everything, nothing changes. Art tries to show that is changing and promises to plan the event together. Art, still in his turtleneck sweater comes back with the adoption paperwork. They decide it is not the time and Mati tells Art to call the agency and cancel. Mati takes an exciting call that Luis Coronel is going to be a guest on Rox’s show!

The office gossip group at Chisme HQ listen to Paulina’s BS and are still talking about how awesome Pau is compare to Loli and Rafa. The plan to sue is still afoot.

Loli, Sam and Octavio arrive at the school in the styling El Camino, Rafa is outside waiting for Loli, comments about why Octavio is there, when Sam receives “the photos” of Jess, rushes out of the car and shows them to Loli. Of course, Rafa sees them as well recognizes Pete the Perv (PP) as someone who was at Paulina’s house once. Sam says that he was the one who drugged her and Jess.

Perfect timing, here comes PP heading across the walkway, all hell break loose as Rafa tries to rip off his head. Conveniently, PP senior, Pete’s dad is there defending the loser. An indignant Rafa and Loli say he will pay for what he has done. (I sure hope so!)

Back at Hunky Bar, Bruno is serving Cata (she insists he drop the Dona part) more drinks and commenting on how thirsty she is. She has him sit down with her and demands to know all about him. Before Bruno, or as Cata wants to call him Brunis, makes a huge error in telling her his ridiculous life story, a very handsome Romeo, fully dressed in form fitting jeans and a collared shirt open to his navel, comes to the recuse. He says something to Bruno about not being boing, taking great care of Cata because she will tip well. (Sorry, I missed most of this conversation just staring at Romeo.) 😊 Cata continues to coo and drink over Brunis.

Loli– Monday, March 8th
Part 4

Eventually Cata pays her bill, gives Bruno a $100 tip and promises to be back tomorrow.

Sam, Loli, Rafa and Octavio are at Paulina’s place telling Jess what happened at school. She is mortified to know that those pictures are out for all to see. Loli says she has to leave to pick up Nicky, but Octavio is more than willing to do so.

We discover that Rafa now has a restraining order on him not to get near PP senior or junior. Sam calls Gus who refuses to talk to her and says he knows nothing about what happened. PP junior tells Gus they have to stick together to get his dad’s help, it is their word against those girls.

Nicky and Octavio have another “man to man” talk, sans butterflies while at the soccer field. Nicky tells Octavio that he enjoys having him in his life, picking him up from practice, but don’t tell Loli, as to not hurt her feelings. Nicky asks Octavio if he had ever been married. Octavio shares that he did love someone, wanted to marry her, something stupid happened, she broke his heart and she died. Nicky laments that the story is similar to his mom having a bad heart and dying. Nicky really misses his mom and he is sure that had Octavio actually met his mom, they certainly would be married. (This was the best scene of the episode).

Back at Pau’s place, the discussion with Sam and Jess is based on the photos, is it possible that one or both were raped? Pau walks in and hears this discussion. For the first time she acts like a parent, calls her doctor so the girls can have a full physical exam. (Hopefully this includes blood tests).

Bruno receives kudos from Apolo for taking good care of Cata and finally learning how to be a good bartender. Bruno gets calls for Mel, that he doesn’t answer, not prepared to tell her she is working at a bar. Then he gets a call from Norita, complaining about knowing something strange is going on with Sam but no one tells her anything. She tells him to investigate

Bruno gets home, Carol and Melissa tell him about her cupcake vending, that Carol now wants to participate in. Bruno asks Carol why Sam wasn’t at school. Carol of course gossips the picture story about Jess, making PP look like a hero and Sam like a loser. Mel agrees and tell Carol to stay away from the bad influence of Sam.

Loli– Monday, March 8th
Part 5

After Carol leaves, Bruno says he does worry about his niece and hopes there are no pictures of her out there. Mel doesn’t care about Sam and demands to know where Bruno has been because she knows he is still a Judas and not working at the radio at night. In fully intact avocado form, Bruno sticks it back at her saying he is not doing anything wrong; she needs to believe him and oh by the way, have you told anyone about what the scumbag your dad is? No? Then stop airing other people’s dirty laundry. (I was almost impressed!).

Loli and Sam return to Marina’s house after seeing the doctor. Gratefully, the doctor determined that neither her or Jess had been sexually assaulted. In another nice moment, Sam apologizes again to Loli, hugs her several times and thanks her for the support; this is of course immediately ruined by the arrival of Norita down the stairs who begins to berate them for hugging and “making up” and where the heck is Nicky?

Loli tries to make her part of the love fest too, but Norita is having none of it. Sam excuses herself to rest, Loli defends the fact that Nicky is with this dad and Norita is just not a nice person, I don’t care that she helped Loli in the early years!

Octavio and Nicky arrive, Norita yanks Nicky upstairs to take a bath. Octavio asks Loli how she is doing and gives her a huge, huge hug.

Wow, there was a lot going on is this episode!

Hi All! Please excuse the many typos, I was just trying to get the recap up between internet and power issues.

I look forward to your take on this episode. New characters and plot twists abound!

Welcome Steve to the patio. I agree with you, Silvia N. is doing well in this show, better the last few episodes.

Loli

Thank you, VVS! A brilliant recap that hit all the right notes in all the right places. Your asides were great! I didn’t notice any typos and so what anyway? This is not that kind of place. I never use proper punctuation or grammar.

Really enjoyed:

Bruno – “Tom Cruise bartending skills”
Cata – “(it must be really, really dark at Hunky Bar)”
Pau – “(Yes ma’am, the expert in being unfaithful)!”

I’m pleased Bruno’s avocados are still intact. I like this Bruno.

So tired of Rox’ ridiculous scenes. Can’t they write something better for this poor actress? Why is Cesar necessary? David said Rox' fans sent about 80 stuffed animals to the gym.

Mati told Art to change his clothes but he then he told him, “better yet go take everything off and wait for me.” lol

PP Jr. belongs in jail. We met PP Sr. and we get an idea of why Jr. is like he is. Storylines like this make me angry. I want immediate justice!

The Nicky – Octavio scenes continue to be the highlight of the series for me. There better be a HEA for them.

Thanks again, VVS!

dondi356

Loli

I appreciate your comments and support dondi356! Thank you for clarifying what the fans were sending to David at the gym, stuff animals.

I missed the line between Mati and Art about taking off all his clothes and waiting for him. Art is a bit uptight. I think I was too excited about seeing Luis Coronel at some point, that guy is a cutie patootie.

PP and is PP daddy are the worst type of people, Nora a close second. 😊

I would like to see Rox replace Paulina as a role-model for women. That might take some work.

loli

Thanks so much, VVS, for this terrific recap. I'm especially impressed that you were able to manage so well in the midst of weather and technology conspiring against you.

I loved your asides, especially "flirting outright with Bruno (it must be really, really dark at Hunky Bar)" and "(Way to go Paulina, always about your image)." I'm not sure which I find more incredible--that Bruno actually managed to get some bartending skills or that Doña Cata found him attractive. Though I suppose she's weird enough that I shouldn't be surprised. She mentioned with little or no emotion that her new novio had been killed by a shark. I found myself wondering whether it was even true. And apparently tonight Doña Cata is likely to carry out her promise/threat to make Bruno an offer he can't refuse. Oy. BTW, I continue to be mystified about why Bruno is reluctant to tell Mel that he's working at a bar.

VVS, I wish I could tell you more about the scene with Romeo, but like you, I was totally focused on him. Yum.

I too loved the scene between Nicky and Octavio. This is probably way off, but I found myself wondering whether there was a connection between Octavio's account of the woman he had loved and Nicky's account of his mother's death. Octavio tells Nicky that something stupid happened and the woman he loved broke his heart and died. Could Mariana somehow have been the woman Octavio loved? Could he be Sam's father? To add to the craziness, let's suppose that the most recent DNA test is incorrect. I could imagine that Octavio and Mariana had a relationship that resulted in Sam's birth. Either before or after that, Mariana broke off with Octavio. Some years later, he donated sperm to the sperm bank and wound up as the biological father of Nicky. So sister and brother have the same parents. Of course it's crazy, but this is a telenovela!
(OK, I'll crawl back underneath my rock.)

loli

Wow! That was NOT a rookie recap! Fantastic asides all the way through. Also loved "really, really dark at Hunky Bar". Actually Bruno isn't that bad looking. He's just chubbier than most guys in TNs and his stupidity reduces his attractiveness A LOT. At least he shut Melissa down. I hate that repetitive "Judas" thing she does.

How long do we have to wait for retribution for Pete? My TV isn't that big, so I couldn't clearly see Jess. Wouldn't it have been obvious she was passed out?

Yes, Octavio and Nicky are just terrific in every scene.

And it was good to see Pau showing sympathy also to Sam and not blaming her for everything.

And Melissa was a total jerk saying she didn't want her precious Carol around Sam any more.

Yes, the Rox scenes are just not doing a thing for me.

Loli

Novelera, I felt like a total rookie this morning with all the computer issues, thank you, dondi356 and Juanita for the vote of confidence!

You can see that Jess has her eyes closed in those pics, but she looks blissfully asleep, so Pervy Pete can definitely spin that tail.

Oh my goodness, Juanita, I think you are totally on to something with Octavio and Mariana! It is a brilliant theory that he might be Sam’s dad and completely doable in any novela. 😊

Looking forward to the return of Doña Cata. Maybe she could be used by Bruno to bait and switch his father-in-law!

La Suerte de Loli - #31 - p 1 de 3

Jess apologizes to her parents. Rafa tells her that what's important is that she is OK.

We see that Loli, Rafa, and Paulina are all having trouble sleeping after what happened with Sam and Jess.

Rox starts her Wake Up LA show. She greets Luis Coronel, but then her phone rings. It's Cesar. Mati has to remind her that Luis Coronel is here. She puts the phone down and tells Luis that he's going to be guest host for today's show. And the topic is blind dates. She leaves Luis and goes off to continue her phone conversation with Cesar. When Mati comes by, she pretends she's talking to the washing machine repairman.

Neither Sam nor Jess wants to report what happened to them.

Pete tells Gus that he has photos of Gus and Sam. If the situation becomes heavy, Gus should remember that Pete has the photos. Idiot Carol comes up to Pete and tells him that she wants to support him. She's outraged that the photos of him and Jess are all over the school. Pete says that someone must have gotten hold of his phone.

Rogelio comes to talk with Rafa and Loli. They assure him that they're sorry, and they've taken steps to control the damage. Loli says she already apologized to Paloma and ended the relationship with Rafa. Rogelio tells them that the company is his patrimony, and he has put it in the hands of Vicente and them. He hopes he won't regret that. He then speaks with them and Vicente. He's upset at the way Loli has been treated. Vicente is annoyed. "Loli, Loli, Loli," he mutters. "Haven't you noticed, Papa, that it's Loli who started all this mess. Paulina is a victim. Loli has to face the consequences." Rafa tells Vicente that he and Loli are no longer together. Vicente immediately wants to know whether he's going back to Paulina. Rafa assures him that he's not.

Melissa calls her mother and tells her she wants to come by and talk with her about her (Mel's) father.

Bruno seems to have made some progress as a bartender. At least he's able to shake drinks in time to the music, and he seems to be enjoying himself. Then Cata appears. She wants Bruno to come with her. He gives her excuses for why he can't leave, but Apolo tells him that what Cata wants, Cata gets. She tells Bruno she's here to make him an offer he can't refuse. He asks what it is. She tells him "I'll tell you, but let's go." And off they go.

Rafa suggests to Paulina that she take a few days off. It would be good for her and good for Jess. Paulina replies that people will think she's doing this because of the divorce, and she doesn't want that. Paulina then asks Rafa whather he's planning to stay at the house with her and Jess for a few days. Yes, he replies, for Jess.

Vicente hears Rafa agree to go back to Pau's. He again asks whether Rafa is thinking of going back to Pau. No, says Rafa, I'm doing this for Jess. Vicente wants to know more. Rafa simply tells him that they're dealing with a matter involving Jess. Vicente, of course, urges him to tell him what the problem is. Rafa says it's a family matter. End of story.

Nicky tells Loli that he would like to have stayed overnight at Octavio's, but he couldn't, because Octavio lives over a bar. Moreover, he has only one bed. However, Nicky invited Octavio for dinner. We then see Nora carrying food to the table. She makes a crack about wanting Octavio to have some decent food, not frozen stuff.

Karen informs Rafa that there's a new problem. One of their biggest sponsors, Car Plus, has just pulled out from their sponsorship. It turns out that the head of Car Plus is Pedro Nuñez, father of Pete Nuñez, the would-be rapist Rafa tried to beat up.

La Suerte de Loli - #31 - p 2 de 3

At the dinner table, Nicky asks Octavio whether he's going to continue to be an explorer. Octavio replies that if he were thinking of a new adventure, he'd go to Australia to surf. Sam says she'd go backpacking in Europe with Jess. Loli says the best trip she ever had was 18 years ago, when she and Mariana went to Las Vegas. Octavio is asked whether he's ever been to Las Vegas. Yes, he says, to get material for the shows. Loli mentions that Las Vegas would be a great place to open a bar. Had he ever thought of doing that? Yes, replies Octavio, but...not now.

A heavyset guy arrives at Global Radio with a huge arrangement of white flowers. He says he has come to see Rox. "Is she expecting you," the receptionist asks. "No, we agreed it would be a surprise." Just then, Rox comes by, sees the flowers, and asks whether they're for her. From Cesar. The guy says "I'm" and Rox interrupts, "his driver?" "No, I'm" Rox again interrupts, "the florist?" She takes the flowers and leaves, muttering that Cesar was supposed to come."What a cheater," she says as she disappears down the hall. Back at the receptionist's desk, the guy says, "I'm Cesar." He leaves.

Bruno, looking very nervous, comes into a spacious room in what is apparently a large house. Cata thanks him for accepting her invitation. Bruno asks whether she lives in this large house by herself. Yes, she replies. But since her novio died, she misses having a man. She has no one to talk to. And no one to touch. She puts her hand on Bruno's. There's one thing you're missing, she tells him. A woman who treats you well. She touches his face and says, "You look like him." "Like your novio?" asks Bruno. "No, no, like my late husband, Paco, the love of my life." She tells Bruno that she never married again, because she was afraid that they would die. But now the novios die. Cata then hands Bruno $500. It's clear he thinks she's paying him for, um, services she hopes he'll render. But she then goes over to a grand piano and starts to play. "Thank you for accepting my offer," she says. "I had no one to hear me play."

Vicente and Rogelio are talking with Rafa. Vicente tells him that what Rafa did has cost the company a lot of money. He didn't keep a low profile, and the Car Plus decision has made things worse. Rogelio says to Rafa, "You should step aside." Rafa asks whether they're firing him. "No," he's told, "no one is firing you. We just want to know what happened with the son of our client." Rafa sticks to his agreement not to talk about what happened to Jess. Finally, Karen tells him that they've decided that what he needs is some Anger Management training. Rafa first responds that this is ridiculous. Rogelio says "this solution is best for everyone." Rafa finally agrees to do what they want. He's told they'll start tomorrow.

When Vicente and Rafa are alone, Vicente asks, "Does Muñez's kid go to the same school as Jess? Is he the one who gave her alcohol?" Rafa is taken aback."Who told you?" Vicente replies, "Paulina. She was very upset." He suggests that Rafa and he go for drinks somewhere and talk. Rafa says he can't, he has to go to Paulina's.

Mati and Arturo are at a cafe. Mati leaves to go to the bathroom. Along comes the guy Arturo had sex with when he was mad at Mati. The guy spots Arturo and comes over. Arturo makes it clear that he's not interested, that he's back with Mati. "What a shame that all the goodlooking men are married," says the guy. Mati overhears at least part of this. The next thing we know, Mati is telling Arturo that he thinks adoption would be a good idea. "I thought you weren't sure," says Arturo. 'I'm sure," says Mati. (Frankly, I'm not.)

La Suerte de Loli - #31 - p 3 de 3

Bruno is eating dinner with Cata at her house. Apparently the chile relleno is the best he's ever had. He says he has to leave. Cata tells him that she'll pay him extra if he'll stay for dessert. "I'm the one who should be paying you," says Bruno. Cata says, "Money is all I have."

Loli has come upon a photo of Mariana and her in Las Vegas. Octavio looks at the photo. "I can't believe it," he says. "This is me!" There, in the background, is someone who does indeed look like Octavio. Nicky asks, "What were you doing with my mother in Las Vegas?" Octavio says it was a coincidence, but then he says, "It's a sign. Like the butterfly the other day." "What butterfly?" Nicky wants to know. "Forget it," says Octavio.

Rafa returns to Pau's. He tells her that one of Global Radio's biggest sponsors pulled out of their contract. He then asks her why she told Vicent that Jess was drunk. She assures him she didn't tell him the rest. Rafa says he'll take a raincheck on dinner. He's tired.

Cata turns out to be quite a talented pianist. Bruno calls himself a fool and admits, "When I first came here, I thought you wanted to...you know." She tells him, "For me, there's no greater pleasure than good company. I think you need someone who will listen to you." Suddenly, the clock chimes. Cata looks at her watch and tells Bruno he has to leave. Now! Go! A puzzled Bruno asks, "Did I do something wrong?" (I too am totally mystified.)

Back at Hunky Bar, Octavio tells Apolo about the photo and says "This is a sign." "Of what? Of destiny?" asks Apolo. Octavio says he doesn't believe in destiny, but it's a sign. Apolo declares, "It's a sign you're crazy about this kid. And that you and Loli are soulmates."

Loli too is pretty shaken by the photo. Of course, she talks to Mariana's photo. "We were right there, next to him!" She looks on her phone for a specific video Mariana left, but she doesn't find it.

Nora calls Bruno and asks when Marcelino is going to pay her. Bruno finally tells her she should forget about the money. Marcelino is a con man who swindled all of us: you, me, Melissa, and his wife. He fooled you like he fooled all of us and then he ran off. Nora is upset. "Those were my savings."

Bruno then sees Melissa and asks whether she told her mother. Yes. I told her that he deceived all of us. I broke my mother's heart. She then leaves the room. Bruno looks at the money Cata gave him. "At least Catalina listens to me."

Sam has a nightmare about Jess and Pete. Loli comes to comfort her. Sam tells her that she doesn't want to go to school. Loli suggests that perhaps Sam should talk with someone, a professional therapist. "You've been through some ugly stuff," she tells Sam. "A trained therapist could support and advise you. Why not give it a try. If you don't like it, you don't have to go back." Sam and Loli hug.

I have no idea what to think about the last segment of this episode. Rafa comes for his first Anger Management session. The person in charge (Karen?) gives him a costume, a disguise (un disfraz). He puts it on, takes a sledge hammer, and starts destroying everything in sight (or not in sight, since I don't think all those things were in the room. Is he imagining this?) On this bizarre note, the episode ends.

Loli

Very detailed recap Juanita! Thank you. I don’t think you missed a single word or nuance of this strange episode.

Let’s start with the ending. WTH was that? Karen the PR consultant is also a certified Anger Management trainer? I have heard about these anger management rooms where employees take out their frustrations by breaking stuff with a bat, but have never figured out how that actually helps control their anger. True EQ is the only way to make that happen, especially having great self-awareness.

I think Rafa did need to let off some steam. Of course, the near rapist Pete’s father is a huge Global Radio sponsor. Rafa’s loyalty to his daughter was impressive, but I do think Don Rogelio deserved a better answer, plus every parent or grandparent would be indignant about what happened to Jess and Sam. No company would want to keep a sponsor like this on their books!

I liked how Rafa was a bit dismissive to “Chente” (loved the nickname for Vicente) regarding spilling the beans a bit more about the Jess situation and the constant questions about getting back together with Paulina. Chente is up for some blow back from Rafa for sure when Rafa finds out he is the guy Paulina cheated with.

I agree with you Junita, Mati is not certain about Art or adopting.

The whole Rox/Cesar thing just seemed sad to me. Cesar seems to be a nice guy on the phone but of course because he is chubby and not overly hunky, Rox and the receptionist look right through him.

Now Bruno and Doña Cata sequence was interesting. I am glad she isn’t some sex starved older lady who acts as a purse for younger men. She is just lonely and likes to play the piano for someone. The “I am Turning into a Pumpkin” routine at the end was a bit odd.

It was nice to see Nora cooking dinner for Octavio. Loli and the kids. It almost seemed like a normal family. The destiny photo from Las Vegas was a nice twist to the tale.

I certainly appreciate the recap Juanita!

loli

Thanks VERY much, VVS, for these great comments. As you can easily see, I was quite mystified by several aspects of last night's episode, especially the end. I know relatively little about what Anger Management sessions are usually like, but the bit with the sledge hammer was way over the top, IMHO. And I share your skepticism about what we saw leading to a substantial improvement in EQ.

I'm so glad you described the scene with Cesar as sad. That's how I felt as well. It's ironic that Rox, of all people, dismissed him without a thought because of his not measuring up to the hunks she had imagined with her eyes closed.

I LOVE your describing the end with Cata as an "I'm Turning into a Pumpkin" routine. I wish I'd thought of that! Instead, I found myself wondering whether Cata's beloved husband, Paco, had died at a particular time of night, and she was uneasy about the same thing happening to Bruno if he stayed. I much prefer your version!

I'm not so sure about your saying that "no company would want to keep a sponsor like this on their books!" That's probably true of Rogelio (at least I hope so), but I don't think Chente has any such scruples. I sure hope he gets what he deserves at the end. Or before.

I must say, I was taken aback by the photo in Las Vegas. Just yesterday I proposed what I regarded as an embarrassingly absurd notion about Octavio and Mariana. After last night's episode, I'm no longer quite so sure it's absurd. I guess we'll see.

Loli

Juanita, I also thought Cata’s husband might have died at that certain hour of the chimes, but I am Cinderella kinda gal. 😊 Do you think Bruno and Cata will became great friends? Will Bruno just keep taking money from her? Interesting options for Bruno, finally!

I didn’t think your storyline about Mariana and Octavio was far fetched at all! I thought it was brilliant! Maybe the butterfly does know what it is doing! I had to laugh when Octavio mentioned the butterfly and Loli said “it wasn’t black was it?”

I hope Loli finds the Mariana video that let’s Sam know who her dad really is.

You are correct that Chente has no scruples and will probably help Pete’s dad sink Rafa.

Excellent recap, Juanita! I agree that Art and Mati's marriage is hardly solid enough to bring a child into. I was disappointed in Mati immediately back on the adoption plan because of, I assume, feeling threatened by the guy from Art's one night stand. Of course, Mati met him outside their home, claiming to be a neighbor, so he knows that this is the guy.

I'm starting to be irritated about the portrayal of Rox. The writers started off with her character having a hunky lover. And I enjoyed her "Wake up LA" radio call-in show. It was pleasant to see a "traditionally built" (got this from the #1 Ladies Detective Agency books, that I love) woman do so well in her life. But she's so superficial that she can only go for those hunks like Romeo and David. I suppose they'll have her end up with Cesar, but she doesn't deserve him.

I think there was a play on words in Bruno and Cata's scene at her house. She mentioned someone to tocar and Bruno thought the worst. But tocar also means play, as in an instrument.

Yes, that Las Vegas thing is odd. But, I'm pretty sure that, if Octavio had a fling with Mariana, he would have recognized her in the photo. He just thought it was some sort of sign that they were both in Vegas at the same time.

Nora is showing signs of softening. She seemed better in the "family dinner". And it was nice to see Octavio, Nicky, Sam, and Loli having such fun together.

Bruno found out that, not only did Marcelino get the avocado profits, but Nora gave him her savings.

Carol is really impossible. IIRC she was appalled that her mother might sell cupcakes and didn't want her to do it at her school. And, of course, taking Pete's side. The kid has no morals at all. Remember stealing the knockoffs from her parents and having someone else run the risk of selling them?

I was confused about the scene with Rogelio. I thought at first it was about Pete's father, but apparently it was about the video his rotten son leaked online. I guess the sponsor thing will be another black mark against Rafa.

I got a kick out of Loli shutting the blinds against the cabal of Gossip Girls hatching more plans to sue for "defamation".

Thank you, Juanita for a very fine recap. Great detail. I found it very helpful.

Gimme a break, Rox! She puts Luis Coronel in charge of her show for some mystery dude?

Pete has photos of Gus and Sam? Were they even kissing? Will Carol be Pete’s next victim?

The family dinner + Octavio was nice. Juanita, I had the same wild thought about an Octavio/Mari hookup and he would turn out to be Sam’s father. Maybe he could adopt Nicky. Last night makes it seem like a distinct possibility.

What’s up with Cesar? Didn’t he tell Rox in his first call that he would fight for a woman like her—or something like that. He gave up so easily. I agree that was very sad. They are really trying to make me dislike Roxana Margarita!

We’re never going to meet Melissa’s mom?

Nora finds out she’s been scammed. Too bad, so sad.

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments.

VVS, many thanks for your very flattering statement about my brilliant/crazy theory. I loved your "Maybe the butterfly does know what it is doing!"

Halimacandy, good to see you on Team Catalina.

Wow, novelera, thanks for the great point about the play on words! I knew that tocar could also mean to play an instrument, but it never occured to me, probably because when Cata uses the word, she also touches Bruno's hand. But you're right--it's a great play on words, since not long after she touches his hand she does play the piano. And I think it's likely that you're right that if Octavio had had a fling with Mariana, he'd have recognized her in the photo. And that's especially true if she was the person he was thinking of when he said yes, he had once been in love. But I'm holding out a little hope that there's an explanation for his not having recognized her. Perhaps she wore her hair a different way? Perhaps he didn't really look at her, since he was so startled at spotting himself in the photo?

dondi356, your saying that you, too, thought about the possibility of an Octavio/Mariana hookup leading to Sam's birth gives me new reason believe it might turn out to be the case. You've got an impressive record for accurate telenovela predictions. True, I think all the examples I've seen are from Turkish novelas, but I don't see why your talent wouldn't work on Latin American novelas as well. Also, I enjoyed your "too bad, so sad" comment re Nora's being scammed. It's interesting how the rhyming changes the whole tone of the statement, from sympathy to mockery.

Last night's episode was interesting in a number of ways. My brain won't extend to a full recap, but I thought they were showing Pau in a more pleasant light. Maybe she'll be redeemed and eventually throw Vicente (Chente) under the bus.

I was a bit frustrated. Gus and Pete were suspended from school, but they didn't show us the scene where Paulina, with her clout of being famous, pulled it off. Gus wants to meet Sam to explain everything.

Octavio kept trying and trying to tell Loli he's not Nicky's bio dad but she just kept speed talking and he could not achieve it.

Melissa found out Bruno no longer works at Global Radio because he has not given the corporate lawyer/PR person some documentation that she needs to prove he doesn't have a criminal record, which he does. Bruno got right in her face and reminded her HOW he ended up with that record, and she settled down. This stickler lawyer is the same one that thought it would be a good idea for the woman initially accused of the after hours boink to sue the company that pays her a wage.

Rox...Pffft.

Rafa and Karen went out for a drink and Rox and Mati came to the same place. Rox took a video or a photo of the two of them. Her behavior gets worse and worse.

novelera, that's a great selection of important points from last night's episode! The segment that drove me most crazy last night was Octavio's repeated attempts to tell Loli that he's not Nicky's father. Loli just wouldn't shut up!! I wanted to throw something at her through the TV set.

I was also a little surprised when Octavio asked Loli what Nicky's mother was like. I still haven't completely abandoned the thought that Octavio and Mariana....

I too thought that Pau was being shown in a better light. When Paloma and I-don't-know-her-name-and-don't-care ran into Pau and asked her what she thought about a lawsuit against Loli, Pau made all the right arguments against that stupidity. (I was surprised and pleased. Though I suspect that at least part of her concern is how she will look.) Anyway, Paloma was smart enough to recognize that without Pau's support, it would be pointless to continue to think about a lawsuit.

Catalina continues to amuse and perplex me.

Thanks, novelera, for getting the conversation started.

I’m liking this better since the frantic pace has slowed a bit and some of the ridiculousness has stopped. Somebody stop Rox, please.

About that off camera scene with Pau using her influence. I remember hearing some other off camera stuff. Did this show get affected by Covid? Maybe that disrupted the schedule and all they could do was insert a mention.

I agree that Pau seemed almost human last night.

Octavio asked Bruno about Mari. That was a nice scene.

The Global lawyer should be fired. So much crap goes on at that place. Is this any way to run a business?
