QT #83, Part 1

Eva confronts Art after seeing him with Lu. He strings her along, saying he hasn’t decided which one of them he wants. Why do women put up with this stuff?

Basurto goes looking for Servando at the hacienda, but he’s holed up with an ex-girlfriend in some other town, waiting for Leo to wire him money. Basurto puts out an APB.

Several lost minutes of our lives while Tirso tells his shrink the whole long story that we already know. I feel like *I’m* the one on Thorazine.

Padre G tries to get the Santos sisters to hash it out, but it doesn’t go well. Esme is really, really mean to Dalia, telling her that if Mat does turn out to be her son, neither one of them will ever forgive her.

Carlo invites Sab over for dinner at the not-quite-open restaurant and ends up offering her a job as general manager – she’ll keep track of vendors, orders, supplies, and his accent. They dance.

 

QT #83, Part 2

Mat finds Tito sobbing behind a tree over his lost mami and cheers him up.

Cori brings Minerva a dusty old box with her name on it. Min circles it like a feral cat, calls it “Pandora’s box,” and orders up some tequila.

Dalia rolls back to the cottage, but Esme’s gone…over to Carlo’s restaurant, where she continues to act petulant. Sab womans up and offers to leave so they can talk, but Esme just flounces over to Eva’s pension with her sad little wheelie suitcase. I liked her better when she was a grown-up.

Val tells Leo she doesn’t believe that lady was her Mom – something just doesn’t feel right. Leo says there’s no such thing as The Call of the Blood, but WE KNOW BETTER.

Lots of screaming and crying up on the People-Swallowing Mountain as Surem removes the bullets from Remy’s back. Remy begs him to go and warn Val, but Surem says he has an infection and can’t be left alone. He will go as soon as he can.

 

QT #83, Part 3

Minerva and her shot glass wake up together and finally decide to look in the box. It contains letters, a journal, and a photo of someone called Eliseo that makes Min go all dewy-eyed. (P.S. I want those pajamas.)

Uriel calls Sandy and summons both her and Mat to his office. He has important information for both of them, but he can’t tell them over the phone. (What? They’re having imaginary twins?)

Val continues to fret about Remy, and Leo tells her a completely fabricated story about Remy swindling her out of a ton of money by pretending to have a sick relative. Too bad she’s lost her memory or she’d know all that. Well, guess what – she got her memory back a long time ago but didn’t tell him because she wasn’t sure she could trust him. Hunh. Guess the wedding’s off.

Dalia reveals the content of Aaron’s letter to her son. Cara de impactado de Mateo. Aaaaaand CUT.

I really want to see Eva with a decent man. Art is such abusive jerk.

I wonder what Uriel is going to say to Sandy and Matt. Maybe she has blocked Fallopian tubes and can't get pregnant? That would benefit society immensely.

Considering where Remi was shot I don't expect him to get back to civilisation anytime soon.

It's hard to imagine Matt ever rejecting Dalia but the signs were there from the writers.

It's a hectic time of year for me and I can't always watch, so your recaps really help me figure out what's going on when I do (insofar as it's possible to figure out what's going on, that is. Remind me why Val doesn't just BLOCK Mateo instead of whining at him to stop calling her? Oh, never mind.)
 

"MEPS" Episode 130 (Second Half: Part XXXV)

442.) Bravo HQ: Ciro's ghost continues reading Ana Gregoria's diary to Liliana during their Storytime Session LOL. Liliana is heartbroken to find out what happened to Ana Gregoria & Ciro confirms what we already knew: now they both understand why Artemio HATES the Elizalde's.

443.) Grupo Lactos: Redhead stupidly thinks Obregon still has Liliana captive, but Franco strongly says that's NOT the case & he explains to her that he recently made an agreement with Psycho Barbara. Redhead wants an explanation as to why Franco didn't tell her about this...

444.) Nagging Gardenia gripping at Stupid Florecita for being in Franco's vehicle. The Gossip Cousins still NAGGING: Fast Forward.

445.) Back inside Redhead's office at Grupo Lactos: Franco assures Redhead that Liliana is at a place which is inaccessible, but safe & surrounded by comfort, treated with a lot of consideration, free to move around..... Franco also explains that person behind all of this is Artemio Bravo!

446.) Franco goes into TMZ detail about Ana Gregoria & Don Jeronimo (Redhead's grandfather)'s escapade from back in the day & that Artemio Bravo was the result. Redhead is Impactadissima!

447.) Psycho Barbara & Mooching Damian talking: Nothing to see here LOL.

448.) Grupo Lactos: Redhead is processing the information that Franco gave to her about why Psycho Barbara & Artemio want the entire Elizalde family exterminated. Redhead, the naive idiot she is, wants to call law enforcement, but Franco says that will NOT be a good idea as Artemio could whack Liliana & he goes even further by telling Redhead that it was Artemio, who gave the order to Psycho Barbara to whack Buji Montserrat 20+ years ago.

449.) Over at Las Animas: Face-to-face insult fest confrontation between Steve, Jr., & Jackass #2 Camilo OMG: Fast Forward.

450.) Venus demanding & pouting over wanting a big engagement party. Steve, Jr., agrees to her request. These two need to get a room LOL.

451.) Once Franco leaves Redhead's office, Florecita is notified via intercom by Redhead to come to her office; Franco & Nagging Gardenia give each other dirty conniving looks before he walks over to the elevator....

452.) In the parking garage of Grupo Lactos: Psycho Barbara intimidates Franco by telling him to get Redhead's nosy ass out of a certain business. She brings up the threat of having Liliana whacked, going so far to tell Franco to find out what Redhead is doing & keep her from doing anything against the EVIL StepMommy.

453.) Back in Redhead's office: Florecita giving some lame explanation to Redhead over trusting Franco Santorro, etc.,

454.) Las Animas: Steve, Jr., reveals Daddy Elizalde's vehicle to Jackass #2 Camilo; Steve, Jr., says that Jackass #2 Camilo used this vehicle to get into Las Animas; we can tell the Jackass Playboy doesn't like being cornered with these pestering questions & allegations. Steve, Jr., gives Jackass #2 Camilo stern threats: Set a date to introduce Venus/Lovely to society as his fiancee & he's got only a month to get it done; we can tell Steve, Jr., is holding the keys of Daddy Elizalde's vehicle. It's now Jackass #2 Camilo's choice: either he sets a date for the upcoming engagement or Steve, Jr., returns the vehicle to Daddy Elizalde & explains what Jackass #2 Camilo was really doing with it.


 

"MEPS" Episode 131 (Part XXXVI):

455.) We pick up from where we left off where the confrontation between Steve Norton, Jr., & Jackass #2 Camilo Elizalde continues.....

456.) Grupo Lactos: Psycho Barbara demands Stupid Florecita to come into her office (we all know where this is going....) while Nagging Gardenia heads to work at the receptionist desk.

457.) Inside her office, Psycho Barbara launches into a vicious tirade attacking Stupid Florecita for telling Redhead about Rubiel Villasana. Of course, Stupid Florecita denied the allegations of saying anything to Redhead; Psycho Barbara fires the STUPID IDIOT on the spot.

458.) Inside the reception area of Grupo Lactos: Redhead asked Nagging Gardenia where Stupid Florecita is at; Nagging Gardenia tells her Stupid Florecita is in the office with Psycho Barbara.

459.) Psycho Barbara's vicious torment of Stupid Florecita continues to escalate. Just in the nick of time, Redhead comes to the rescue & scolds Psycho Barbara: Redhead tells her EVIL StepMommy that neither she nor any of the family has any right to fire a loyal employee like Florecita Campillo.

460.) Over inside Don Artemio's office at Bravo HQ: Franco meets with Don Artemio where they discuss the following: Franco's visits to Liliana, how Franco's buddy Steve Norton, Jr., is interested on knowing everything & everyone involved with Grupo Lactos, etc.,

461.) Franco receives a phone call from Stupid Florectia, where she tells him about Psycho Barbara being on the warpath; Franco thanks her & hangs up. Immediately, Don Artemio received a phone call from you guessed it: Psycho Barbara where she warns him that his suspicions about Franco Santorro may have strong basis after all (UH-OH!)

462.) Over at the coffee bar inside Grupo Lactos: Stupid Florecita warns her cousin, Nagging Gardenia to keep her mouth SHUT about Franco Santorro really being Eduardo Juarez.

463.) In the meantime at Bravo HQ: Artemio brings Franco over to Liliana's room, where she sits up & looks at Franco & while they're talking, we see Don Artemio pondering Psycho Barbara's suspicions about Franco: this is going to be very critical & key later on down the road.

464.) Creepy Vlad & Priscila once again: Fast Forward.

465.) Back inside Liliana's room at Bravo HQ: Liliana stands watch like some lookout while Franco continues reading Ana Gregoria's diary: he gets to the part where Ana Gregoria mentions her sister Soledad (Eduardo's mother).

466.) Gullible Aurora is painting in the courtyard of Colegio Buena Esperanza: OMG Fast Forward.

467.) Back at the Bravo HQ: While Franco is reading the TMZ details of Ana Gregoria's diary including reading the part of where Dona Altagracia (Redhead's grandmother) had Ana Gregoria & her baby thrown out of the Elizalde Mansion grounds, Liliana naively thinks it's a story of love (YEAH RIGHT); while he's reading the last entry of the diary, Don Artemio has one of his assistants move Liliana to another part of the mansion, once Franco repeats aloud "Artemio", he looks up to see Don Artemio glaring down at him UH-OH: what could possibly go wrong ?

Franco then listens intently to Don Artemio's side of the story: Don Artemio is protective, defensive about his mother & the diary & of course, his deep-seated hatred of the Elizalde family. He even asks Franco if he suffered a similar traumatic experience (We all know Eduardo/Franco had a similar mistreatment from 20+ years ago when Jackass #1 Anibal, Jackass #2 Camilo & Buji Montserrat mistreated Soledad).
 

ECDLP #31

- Lucia can’t believe what she’s hearing. Rodrigo wants to explain but Lucia won’t hear it. She calls him and Nora trash.
- Rodrigo tries to stop Lucia from leaving but Mario intervenes. Mario asks Ligia if she knows what’s going on.
- Rodrigo catches up to Lucia outside. He says that he isn’t the only one to blame. Nora wanted to separate them and did.
- Rodrigo says Nora threatened him that she would reveal everything in the middle of the wedding ceremony. The pregnancy was an accident. Lucia tells him never to go near her again.
- Rodrigo returns to the law firm to collect his things. Sergio felt guilty being his accomplice especially after Lucia revealed Nora’s pregnancy.
- Sergio says Rodrigo doesn’t know the meaning of friendship. He deserves what’s happening to him.
- Nora points out to Rebeca that Sara knows about her pregnancy, not just Amador.
- Marcelo apologizes to Milagros. He doesn’t want to talk about Lucia with her. Milly still thinks Daniela is better and wants Marc to call her. M gets upset again at this.
- Lucia returns home and promptly slaps Nora. She says she knows that Nora is expecting Rodrigo’s baby. Nora says she wanted Lucia to suffer. She says Lucia has always stolen Alonso’s affection from her.
- Rebeca enters and Lucia tells her that she curses the day Rebeca married her father and gave her a sister.
- Rodrigo tells Brigida he was fired from his job. He doesn’t explain why despite Brigida’s insistence.
- Nora and Rebeca wonder who told Lucia the truth. Nora is worried that now Alonso will find out.
- Lucia goes to Casa Treviño.
- Mario tells Ligia that Rodrigo had personal problems. Ligia asks him about Alonso.
- Marcelo tells Alonso he found a night guard for the factory with references from Amador. It’s Vinicio.
- Vinicio tells Alonso he’s known Amador for years and also knows Ricardo Marquez. Alonso is stunned that Amador knows Ricardo and never told him.
- Marcelo tells Vinicio they get in contact with him at a later date.
- Amador tries to downplay his friendships with Ricardo and Vinicio. Brigida calls him. Alonso tells him to return home to deal with his family matters.
- Marcelo asks Nazario if he knows someone named Ricardo Marquez. Nazario tells him about Ricardo’s past with Magdalena.
- Sara tells Magdalena to seek out Lucia. Lucia needs her support right now. She doesn’t give any more details.
- Alonso tells Marcelo he wants to hire Vinicio. Trini calls Alonso.
- Rebeca confesses to Magdalena about Nora’s pregnancy and who the father is. Magdalena is sure Rebeca takes joy in seeing Lucia suffer.
- Magdalena says Rebeca taught Nora to hate Lucia. Magdalena says the damage is done.
- Through tears Lucia tells Alonso that Nora had a relationship with Rodrigo and is pregnant with his child.
- Amador confronts Vinicio about looking for work at the factory. Vinicio says too bad because Alonso already hired him.
- Marcelo goes to Casa Treviño and asks Trini about Lucia. She tells him that Lucia will surely need and eventually accept his support.
- Alonso arrives home yelling Nora’s name and confronts her about what she did. He says she’s disappointed him. He doubts Lucia will ever forgive her. He tells her she will go through with the pregnancy.
- Alonso then confronts Rebeca. He feels deceived by both rev and Nora. Rebeca claims she does care about Lucia. Rebeca accuses him of preferring Lucia over Nora comparing Reb to Adriana.
- Alonso tells Rebeca that first thing the next morning he’ll file for divorce.

QT #84 Part 1 of 3

Dalia told Mateo the contents of Aaron's letter. Her speech was breathy and halting as she handed the letter to him. There had been no conversation between her and Aaron . He had given her no explanation regarding how or why he had kept this secret for so long. Matt tried calling him but Aaron did not answer. As Matt tried to leave Dalia asked him to embrace her for the last time as his mother.
“Don't ever say that,” he said as he knelt and embraced her. You are my mother. You took care of me and gave me all the love in the world. No matter what happens.” They embraced again.

Valeria and Leonel argued about his lie. She realized he had done this to keep her from finding out about her mother. He claimed he did this for her own good. He tried to turn it back on her for calling him by Matt's name but she didn't fall for it. She picked up her cell and left the room.

Matt called Aaron and left a voice mail demanding a full explanation.

Just as Esmeralda and Eva closed a deal Carlo knocked on the door. He asked Esme about whether it was true that Matt was her son. She had little to say at that point beyond that her head was still spinning from hearing this. She declined his offer of help. He advised her not to reject Dalia so quickly and that she should look at this as finding the son she had been looking for all this time.

Minerva looked at the photos in the box. Sepia flashback to her younger self flirting with and kissing a young man who asked “Why don't you leave him?” He looked suspiciously like Carlo with a mustache. Back in the present she said “I was afraid. That was the only love I ever knew.” [Methinks we have a new mystery to solve, but there are still 30+ episodes left.]

Esme and Carlo continued talking. “For life” was something different for each of them, she said. “The time God gives me with you would be enough,” he said. She realized he could be her son's best friend. She thanked him for hearing her out.

Dalia went to Guillermo with this situation, admitting that she had idealized Don Patricio only to now know he was a demon. She could not understand why he had denied Matt his birthright. Guillermo speculated that he wanted Matt to be free of being a Montes. Dalia said she didn't know; only that she was hurting because she had dedicated her life to this demon. Now they had to deal with a nasty court battle with Leo who would try to make sure that Matt received nothing.

Esme left another scathing voice mail for Aaron.

Berenice picked up the keys from Leo. She told him Val had to see someone but had no details about it. Leo appeared to be missing something from his wallet.

Val met with “Lucia” to put her to the test, even asking her what Remi looked like [not sure what she said other than white and tall]. Lucia realized that Val was doubting the situation. Leo tried contacting both women but both ignored him. Val asked for the truth. Leo must have given Lucia a full retirement fund because she answered “Yes. Not the other you were hoping for. I'm sorry, Reina.”
“What happened to my Aunt Nadia and [???]”
“Don't know. I lost contact with them.”
“Thanks.” Val got up to leave, asking that if Leo asked she was not to tell him that they talked.
However, as soon as Val was out the door she called Leo and ratted Val out. [Bitch.]
 

QT #84 Part 2 of 3

Berenice called Chacho to tell him she would be in Mexico City until the end of the week. He was not happy about this and said so. This began to irriate her until she ended the call and dropped her cell into her purse.

Corina continued to teach Lorenzo knife skills while Tito and Angelita played OR assistants over a serrano pepper. There appeared to be a serious communication problem over “a pinch of.”

Leo met Lucia for her payoff. She asked him “Why all the lies?” He said that was not important. She told him that Val had a lot of questions but she had stuck to the script. However, she was unsure Val believed everything. She then asked “Don't you know this is hurting her? She seems like a nice girl.” Leo commented that the lies didn't hurt her and she took money for it.
“But aren't you going to marry her? Then why don't you tell the truth?”
“Because she wouldn't like it,” he replied. “It would only bring her... sadness.”
“Better that it would bring her fear.”
“It's not what it seems. Perhaps I will need you again.”
“As long as you pay me, I am at your service.”
He left.

Victor talked with his aunt about Magdalena, who had left her house. He then called Magdalena who said she was tired of this. She had gotten on a bus for Pueblo. He told her she had to stay in Santa Rita. She was fed up and wanted to talk to Val. She was getting on the 3PM bus to return.
Cipriano was eavesdropping outside Victor's door.

Carlo and Sabina were going over the grand opening plans. She was pleased and asked if he was inviting his family. He told her he had no family, saying it was a sad story,. He was almost a child when his father had been murdered. Sab was sympathetic, telling him she would help. He said there were some things one never gets over. He had never seen his father's grave or known why he was murdered and this bothered him.

Cipriano called Servando to tell him what he was paid for... if he was paid more. Leo was also looking for this info and would pay him for it. We did not hear what Cipriano told him. Servando ended the call, threw that cell phone into a well, and put a battery into another phone.

The stove and refrigerator were delivered to the community kitchen. Padre G saw that Chacho was in a bad mood and realized that it was about Berenice. He told him to trust her. Chacho was afraid of being left behind. Padre G told him not to be insecure or try to clip her wings.

Servando called Leo to tell him that Cipriano had more info but needed more dinero for it. Leo said he was on his way but Servando said that Basurto was suspicious and looking for him. Leo was not concerned.
 

QT #84 Part 3 of 3

Guillermo took Dalia to Don Patricio's grave and said to call him when she wanted to leave. He left her alone and she asked the dead demon in the grave why he had done this to her. “To mock me? To make my sister hate me? I once loved you but not anymore.”

Magda called Val saying they had to talk. Val had just returned home and asked where she was. Magda was about to say something when she saw Servando coming toward her. She ran and the call was dropped in the process. Servando ran after her. He was armed.

Uriel told Matt and Sandy that her pregnancy was high risk both to her and to the baby. He had prescribed medications and a diet that had to be followed to the letter. Matt asked about more tests and Uriel then looked at Sandy.

Val tried calling Magda and got her voicemail. Twice.

Uriel told them to remain calm. Matt's phone rang and he answered. Val told him what had ust happened and she thought Magda was in danger. Sandy told him she had to talk to the doctor. Matt shook Uriel's hand and left. Uriel's cell rang and he left the room to take the call.

Esme found Aaron along with evidence of his drinking. She confronted him about the letter. He told her that Matt was her son. She demanded to know who was the baby in the grave. He took a drink from the bottle. She knocked it out of his hand and it shattered on the floor. She again demanded the truth.

Wow! That sounds super-exciting! Cant' wait to see the young Minerva. Do you think Eliseo and Carlo are played by the same actor?

They definitely are, Blue Lass. Exact same hair combed the same way and I'm really good at voices.

For a minute I was wondering whether Carlo is Minnie's. Did she get pregnant by Eliseo and leave the ranch? I can't recall Carlo saying anything about his mother, but since he is Matt's best friend where did they meet? Were they both in the orphanage? If anyone can remember any lines about that please say so!

If he is Minnie's son that makes him half-brother to both Leo and Matt. Nothing else like more confusion with just enough episodes to make this a story.

I still can't figure out why Val would even consider marrying him. Even before she regained her memory, he was nasty and violent. I understand that she comes from an abusive background, but that didn't stop her from trying to protect Tito. So why doesn't she protect herself?

Glad you mentioned Tito. She has said that if they can't find his mother she will adopt him. Leo would put the kibosh on this in no time flat. Minnie would have a conniption.

I can't believe that Alonso would force Nora to have the baby. She is worse than Rebecca. No baby in the universe deserves a monster like her for a mother.

At least Lucia knows what a demon she is.

469.) Franco sits there & listens to Artemio's justification for destroying the Elizalde's, etc.,

470.) While that's going on, Mooching Damian is talking to Mother Superior in an attempt to spring Gullible Aurora out of Colegio Buena Esperanza. Let's just say it doesn't work out very well.

471.) Back at Bravo HQ: Liliana is busy playing in the garden at the courtyard.

472.) When the questions turn to Soledad being collateral damage, Franco's hand grips on that chair with rage as Artemio justified his EVIL sinister schemes against the Elizalde's & Co.,

473.) Somewhere in Mexico City Suburbs, Jackass #1 Anibal & Creepy Vlad discuss upcoming plans regarding Priscila & the baby.

474.) Grupo Lactos: Inside the lobby, Florecita informs Priscila that Jackass #1 Anibal is out on some lunch break; Redhead greets her BFF & escorts her to the office.

475.) Bravo HQ: Music gets more dramatic as Artemio continues to viciously intimidate Franco by grabbing him by the jacket. Sounds like Artemio will figure out Franco Santorro is really Eduardo Juarez....

476.) Later that day, Artemio intimidates Liliana once again by grabbing Ana Gregoria's diary from her & scolds her for letting Franco reading the diary, etc.,; the ghost of Ciro Palafox urges Liliana to remain calm.

477.) Somewhere in Pueblo Purification: Psycho Barbara gets into a hissy fit over Mooching Damian not following through on getting Gullible Aurora out of the convent.

478.) Grupo Lactos: Inside Redhead's office, Redhead is curious as to why Jackass #1 Anibal & Priscila named the baby Vlad.

479.) The zoom-in closeup of Priscila's body language says it all.

480.) Colegio Buena Esperanza: Gullible Aurora is given baby bibs, other baby stuff as she's talking to one of the nuns.
 

Quererlo Todo #85 Friday 4-14-21
HEADLINE: It’s a Mother and Child Reunion x 2!!

QT #85 Part 1/3
Esme has confronted Aaron about her baby boy. He hands her the envelope with the records, says he can’t talk anymore and leaves the room. When he is back, he says the child was with the Garcia Duran family for 4 years. After the fire, he was brought to the hacienda and given to Dalia to raise. Esme wonders if the fire was an effort by Patricio to kill his own son?

Esme demands that Aaron tell her why she was separated from her son? Aaron lists several possibilities, but basically due to orders from Patricio. Esme reviews all the reasons she thought Aaron was her friend. How could he betray her like this!? She also speaks to long-gone Patricio: “Why did you make me so miserable? I hope you’re burning in hell!”

Sandy and Matt are done with the Uriel medical conference. Sandy remains behind for some questions with the doctor. She learns she is truly pregnant and is gleeful at the news. Uriel wants to know how many men she has slept with, including Matt. She replies, “only two.” Each candidate has a 50/50 chance of being the father, so a DNA test is required. (Viewerville is snickering in the background.)

Matt and Val are in conversation outside, hashing over Mag’s disappearance and danger. She tells him about the meeting in the city with Lucia, the “mother” Leo found. Val is sure that Leo and Lucia are wrong. Matt agrees, because he knows her real mother is Magdalena. Val is shocked, while Leo explains he overheard Mag telling Esme and Dalia her secret.

He was sworn to join the secret circle, but she needs to know. He gazes deeply into her eyes and says to cry if she wants. She says he is the one who always tells her the truth, as she is enfolded in his arms to cry. Val asks if others know about mama Mag? Yes, Sandy and Leo also know. Val is afraid she’ll never get to speak to Mag again.

 

QT # 85 Part 2/3
Luisa is back in town. She confronts Artemio and says there are conditions attached to her return. She is here to cook and keep house, but Art cannot touch her. Angry Art is going to punish Vicente. Luisa claims she is here for neither Vicente nor Art. She’s here to learn to read and write. She gives her word, which is backed by her honor. Art’s word is worth nothing! (Scattered cheers heard from the audience at her resolute speech and bearing.)

Art is in trouble with his offspring, too. Eva calls Bere, begging her to come back home. Dad will give her whatever she wants. Not interested—Bere wants to be the owner of her own destiny.

Meanwhile, Mag is running desperately down the street, trying to escape Servando. She turns into an alley, where he follows but can’t find her. She is crouched in a shed, hiding, as he searches. He gets a phone call from Leo, who tells him not to let her escape. Leo cuts the call short when he gets a call from Val. [Need help for the next step due to a distraction. Mag is in the police car with Basurto, rescued. I missed the action here, but assume Servando fled when the police arrived?]

Shortly after the rescue, Leo meets with Serv in his car. He tells his disgraced henchman he was a fool to let Mag escape, and continues to berate him. Then he pays Serv some hush money and says he’ll call if he needs him.


 

QT # 85 Part 3/3

Minnie is fondling her elaborate multi-strand pearl necklace, musing on the past. In a flashback, Patricio presents them to her as a gift, with a smile on his face. He fastens them around her neck, then grips them tightly, nearly choking her with the strands. He accuses her of seeing another man and threatens retribution. Back in the present, Min massages her throat as if she still feels the pain.

Val is on the phone with Basurto. He has Mag safe in his car and is bringing her in. Val greets her and says she is Sonia, her daughter. Mag says she is Lucia Rodriguez, her mother. They embrace tightly. Later, they stroll down the twilight street, talking. Mag begs sincere pardon from Val. Val has one question—Why was she left alone when she was so young? They go to the hacienda to continue exploring the past.

Esme is on the phone with Matt, saying they need to talk. In the next scene, they are in front of the large painting of the Virgin. They hug, followed by sweet talk. “My son! Hijito mio! I have been hoping for this embrace all my life! My Julian!” from Esme. “I will call you whatever you want.” Matt replies, “There were so many questions. We never knew the answers were so close. I thought of you each day of my life. I can’t believe you’re my mother!” She comments, “A son so handsome as you!”

Matt visits his adoptive mother at the hacienda. Dalia asks if he saw Esme. Yes, but there is no change, because Dalia is always his mother. She raised him, fed him, took care of him. Now he has [another] mama who loves him. She explains that life always gives us another opportunity. She is very content for him and always happy for time at his side.


 

QT # 85

Don Patricio used his looks, his money, his personality and his love of power to manipulate almost everyone. Now his image and his cred is shrinking with the women who loved him. Leo needs to learn a lesson, as does Art.

It was rewarding to finally see our two orphans to find their mothers.

 

ECDLP #32

- Rebeca says Nora’s mistakes aren’t her fault but Alonso has never been more sure of any decision he’s made in his life.
- Amador arrives home. He thinks Brigida is overreacting but goes up to Rodrigo’s room. They find Rodrigo drinking straight from a bottle. In his drunken state he says that Lucia found out everything. Brigida is clueless. Amador wants to know what exactly what Rodrigo told Lucia.
- Rebeca doesn’t want to talk to Nora. Rebeca thinks Alonso will easily forgive Nora even though he asked Reb for a divorce.
- Rebeca doesn’t want Alonso to know that she knew everything BEFORE Lucia’s wedding. Nora doesn’t think Alonso will believe that.
- Rodrigo tells Amador that Lucia knows everything. Alonso arrives at Casa Zúñiga and grabs Rodrigo by the collar and yells at him.
- Amador tells Alonso that he knows everything and will make sure that Rodrigo assume his responsibility. He says they’ll talk about it more calmly tomorrow.
- Brigida demands to know what’s going on.
- Magdalena insists Marcelo would be a good support for Lucia but Lucia isn’t ready.
- Marcelo confides in Rafaela that he cares for Lucia but L doesn’t trust him.
- Amador calls Rebeca to tell her that Alonso knows everything. He wants to meet up with her ASAP.
- Alonso remembers happier times with Adriana.
- Lucia tells Padre Samuel about her feelings of resentment towards someone. She doesn’t know if she can forgive the person who hurt her.
- Trini is worried about Alonso. She and Magdalena note that the situation must be hard on Al given it involves his wife and daughters.
- Alonso is visiting Adriana’s grave. He feels that he failed her and Lucia.
- Nazario tells Marcelo about the relationship between Nora and Rodrigo and Nora’s pregnancy. Marcelo tells him he had a brother who died recently.
- Marcelo runs into Lucia. He wants to her to prove she’s strong despite what happened to her. She doesn’t know if she feels anything for him but knows she’s not ready for a relationship. She says she’s leaving town and he wishes her well.
- Rebeca and Amador don’t want Alonso to know that they both knew about everything before the wedding. He thinks Alonso will agree that Rodrigo and Nora should marry.
- Marcelo thinks Lucia is still in love with Rodrigo but Nazario says that Nora’s betrayal hurt her more.
- Alonso tells Rebeca that the logical thing is for Nora to marry Rodrigo. He says that Lucia belongs at home with him, the home that was Adriana’s. Lucia has more rights to be there than Rebeca and Nora.
- Magdalena doesn’t want Lucia to run away from her problems like she did. Magdalena felt guilty for leaving when Adriana ended up passing away.
- Nora doesn’t want to marry Rodrigo but Rebeca doesn’t budge. Nora says Rebeca is just afraid that Alonso will kick her out. Rebeca slaps her.
- Alonso arrives at the factory and asks Normita to get ahold of Mario for him he wants to speak with him personally about something. Both he and Amador agree that Nora and Rodrigo will marry ASAP but afterwards they’ll have to fend for themselves.
- Rebeca attempts to apologize to Lucia. Lucia says that Rebeca has made it clear that Nora comes first.
- Marcelo tells Alonso of Lucia’s plans to leave town.
- Nora tells Lucia that she feels bad about everything. She says she’s suffering because she has to marry Rodrigo.
- Alonso wants to know why Lucia didn’t tell him anything about leaving. He wants her to stay. Suddenly he collapses in pain.
 

QT #85

Gracias, Paloma. I will fill in the blanks:

A man in white clothes seemed to have followed Servando into the shed. He turned and ran. Servando went outside. Magdalena came up from behind and hit him with a 2x4 but only once, just enough to account for the injury on the left side of his face. He fell to the ground and she ran. However, he was conscious. He got up and chased her, shooting at her once, but she was just out of his range. Victor heard the shot and ran toward it. There were witnesses -- probably locals -- behind Servando that he did not see until his shot failed.

You probably missed Minnie's sepia flashback. In the box with the photos was a heavy pearl necklace, three strands of 12mm pearls with a center piece with pearls inset. She handled it and remembered receiving it in Patricio's den. His hair was completely dark in that scene. He gave her the necklace and after she admired it he said he would help put it on her. He stood behind her and almost strangled her with it, saying things about disposing of people who try to take what is his. She was scared shitless in that scene. Back in the present she dropped it back into its box with an expression of distaste. She took her pet shot glass, filled it, and drank another shot.

I'll bet she never wore that necklace.

I am guessing that this took place around 20 years previously when Leo, Matt, and Carlo were school-age kids. I am also guessing that Carlo's father was murdered shortly before or after the presentation of that necklace. It makes me wonder whether the murder Leo witnessed around that time was that of Eliseo (although I don't remember how he looked or what episode that was).
 

QT #85

More thoughts:

I am betting that Don Patricio set the fire, but the motive was not to kill Mateo. It was the solution to the land dispute because los Garcia-Duran did not want to sell the land to Don Patricio; this was how to get rid of them. Matt was not the only survivor of the fire, but there weren't many.

Aaron may have known about the arson plan or he wouldn't have been there to help save Matt.

We can only hope that the knowledge of this will help Esme let go of her anger toward Dalia, which is undeserved. She knew nothing of any of this. Matt will probably broker the peace that these two sisters deserve.

What we do not know yet is the fate of Carlo's mother. Or the parentage of Lorenzo or Tito.

We can't fault Lucia for her current inability to trust. She is seeing nastiness coming from all sides. I'm trying to remember if she ever finds out about what Rebecca did while she was still under construction.

She does need to move slowly now.

Rebecca most likely never disciplined her brat. As ye sow, so shall ye reap. Same for Brigida, except that Rebecca has far more IQ points than she does and should have known better.

TF, UA, Blue Lass, Susanlynn, Kirby, La Paloma: I'm not sure if y'all haven't heard yet but I found out Jaime Garza (who portrayed Don Silvestre in "MEPS": Martina's father) passed away yesterday at the age of 67.

UA: I definitely agree that Rebeca is smarter than Brigida. It seems virtually impossible to keep Brigida out of the loop of things but she doesn’t exactly always help the situation. Maybe Rebeca doesn’t either in some ways but she’ll do whatever she can to protect herself and Nora. Amador has more common sense than his wife does for sure.

I did include Min's very dramatic flashback of the pearl necklace. I suspect you are right that she wouldn't feel like wearing it. She probably started drinking tequila around that time.

I remember him from Salome. That was 20 years ago. He gave an excellent performance.

Thanks, La Paloma, for the excellent recap. I can't wait to watch -- will probably get to it tonight.

A few notes on previous epis:

- Leo must have described Remy to his callgirlfriend, because she nailed it in her conversation with Val: "tall, white, big-eared, bald and chatty."

- Carlo told Sabina during their dinner that he left El Rosario shortly after his father was killed and once established in Spain, he brought his mother over and she lived with him until she died.

- I tried to find the epi where Patricio killed that guy in cold blood in front of Leo to see if it was Carlo's father, but I gave up before succeeding. It was some time in the first three weeks, though, because it was before Leo killed the grave-robbers.
 

Garza is the 4th cast member of "MEPS" to pass away in recent years.

I just found it; it was #12, and the victim was not Carlo's father. It was an employee whom Patricio accused of theft. Leo looked about 8 or 9 when he witnessed this and he had a nightmare about it. As an aside, I can't determine whether the same actor is consistently playing the younger Patricio.

Also realized that -- while the writers have set us up to suspect him of having murdered Eliseo -- it doesn't matter who the victim in the nightmare flashback victim was. We have no idea how many deaths can be connected to Don Patricio and his feudalistic way of dealing with the world.

If Minnie ever wore that necklace, it would not have been in that box. the lok on her face and the way she dropped it into its display box said that.
