Good thing Matt and Val have a barn for their spontaneous rendezvous. Now things are on another level.

Matt has figured out how to get the jealous sisters to come together--no peace, no Matt.

"Don" Leo, huh? I don't think the black hat is working any magic with him. Sometime back, in another TN, there was a bad guy who kept thwacking a riding crop. Can't remember now. Was it Sergio Goyri in "Soy tu Duena?" (Sorry, I know there's a tilde in there.) Or someone else?
 

"MEPS" Episode 136 (Part XLI):
520.) Don Silvestre gives his blessing for Martina & Dr. Carlos to get married.

521.) Cousin Jacobo with the awful Italian accent, convinces Gullible Aurora & Sister Nun to accompany him toward his vehicle.

522.) Redhead calls on Florecita to come inside her office when EVIL StepMommy shows up & the two clash in a face-to-face showdown: launching insults & more taunts. Redhead puts EVIL StepMommy on full-blast for banging Redhead's estranged hubby Mooching Damian.

523.) Gullible Aurora & Sister Nun follow Cousin Jacobo down the boulevard toward the street corner.

524.) Meanwhile at Grupo Lactos: Psycho Barbara speaks with Franco via phone & the pact is soldified.

525.) Redhead & Florecita meet inside Redhead's office where they discuss plans to find out where Gullible Aurora is staying at Colegio Buena Esperanza.

526.) Desperate & nagging, Psycho Barbara nags Mooching Damian over the phone about springing her daughter out of the convent.

527.) Mooching Damian is notified by Psycho Barbara that Gullible Aurora is to be taken to the summer house.

528.) In the meantime, Don Silvestre is undergoing battery of tests & exams on his eyes.

QT # 88 or 88/89

Sorry I forgot to put QT on my earlier comment. I think I figured out the guy with the whip. He wasn't a bad guy, in that he was the protagonist, but he did keep a whip by his side. It was Jorge Salinas as Rogelio in "La Que No Podia Amar". He was a paraplegic, dressed in black, and carried a lot of anger.
 

QT #88-89

"Don" Leonel is in for more than a few shocks. He is not Rogelio Montero, who had inner demons and insecurities he was able to beat and who knew how to run a ranch and make it profitable. Leo isn't in his league in anything but his looks. Jorge Salinas is also my favorite TN actor (but everybody here knows that).

I dearly hope Val doesn't get pregnant before it's safe. We still don't know whether Sandy's baby is Matt's or Leo's. Leo still doesn't know that Angelita is his child, but Minnie might be keeping quiet because she sees that Leo is now off his rocker. As nasty as she is capable of being I think she would draw the line at harming a child.


 

Quererlo Todo Thursday 5-20-21
QT # 89 or 90 Part 1/3

There are smaller bits of action sprinkled in, but the main thread of this episode is the continued rise (or fall) of Don Leo as the absolute ruler of his surroundings, a son in the pattern of his father.
Feel free to add or correct details I missed. Some short scenes are combined.

Lorenzo is alone at the church when an older man, Hermilio, comes looking for the priest. Finding the padre gone, he leaves and says he’ll come back. (We know there’s a reason for this.)

Val, amazed to find Remi alive at Surem’s cabin, is listening to him. He tells her Leo has lied to her all these years, taking her money and running her life. He even tried to murder Remi to prevent him telling Val her mother’s identity. Val knows that Mag is her mother, thanks to Matt. The door bursts open, revealing evil Don Leo.

Back in town, we see Esme bringing legal charges against Aaron, all having to do with the shenanigans around Matt’s birth and purported death.

In the cabin, Leo pulls a gun. Surem raises his rifle, shooting (a warning shot or a missed shot?). Leo kills Surem with a single shot. Val is screaming for him not to shoot Remi, so Leo puts down the gun. He takes his riding crop and violently beats Remi, who doesn’t survive. Don Malo—oops, Leo—grabs a hysterical Val and leaves the cabin. Servando, always ready to do his part, finds a large can of gas and splashes it around the cabin. He lights the fire to hide the evidence of their crime.

The two men ride away, Leo holding Val and Servando leading the extra horse. Down the trail, Leo tells Serv to go back to the cabin and remove Remi’s body. He must bury it so no one will know he was there. Neighbors will see the fire and the police will come. “What about the girl?” Serv inquires? “She won’t say a word,” assures Leo.

Matt is at the house, searching for Val because she hasn’t returned from the mountain. His phone call gets only her voice mail, so he leaves a message.

Leo takes Val in another direction, still holding her on his horse. They come to an empty cabin, where he forces her to enter and throws her onto the bed. While he is locking the door, Val snatches a piece of firewood and clobbers him with it. She grabs his gun and says she will shoot him if he moves. While Val holds the gun, Leo confronts her until she drops it. He wrestles her while she fights back and cries. Then he takes the drug drops he has with him and squirts some in Val’s mouth, leaving her unconscious

 

QT # 89 or 90 Part 2/3

Matt brings breakfast on a tray to a sleeping Sandy. He calls Val again, and leaves another message. Leo has Val’s phone and sees the messages from Matt.

At the police station, people from the mountain are reporting the fire and burned cabin to Basurto. The burned body is probably Surem, with the cause of the fire unknown. Some speculation ensues and Basurto says they will investigate.

Min is reading the Patricio diaries she purloined from Leo’s desk. A scene shows the gunshot killing of Eliseo. While the shooter may not be Don Pat, the diary says Eliseo was killed by Pat for messing with something that wasn’t his. Min weeps.

Matt comes to Basurto’s office. He’s worried that Val didn’t return from her visit to Surem. Basurto explains about the fire and the burned body. Val may have seen the fire. What does Matt think? No real conclusion at this point.

Doc Aaron has recovered and is sitting on his hospital bed, dressed in street clothes. The hospital doctor is speaking to him, when the judge (?) enters to arrest him and charge him with the crimes listed by Esme.

A groggy Val gradually awakens, only to find Don Leo seated on a chair, watching her. (Isn’t this a standard horror movie scene? The kidnapped girl finds herself at the mercy of the evil criminal?)

While we recoil from Val’s situation, another scene is going on in the city. Chacho has taken Bere out to dinner in a nice place. He is in a suit and tie; she in a lovely off-shoulder white dress. With a trio in the background, he is serenading her. His singing is not quite on key, and when his verses are done, Bere thanks him and says let the trio take it from there. (This was a tiny but good comic moment.) He opens a ring box and asks her to marry him. He even goes down on one knee to add emphasis to his plea. Bere finally agrees and they embrace.

Val and Leo go back and forth with heated remarks. “What do you want if not to kill me?” “To keep you quiet!” “I will denounce you if I live—kill me now!” “You will marry me!” “No! You are a monster, a criminal!” “That may be. But you can be my angel of salvation. You can save Matt from the fate of Surem and Remi. There will be one more orphan (Matt’s child) if you don’t marry me.” Needless to say, Val is horrified.

 

QT 89 or 90 Part 3/3

Hermilio is in the confessional with Padre G. There is a sin from long ago burning his soul--an orphan child, Roberto Arana, known as Tito. “I knew who his father was”, says the old man. Padre excitedly exclaims he knows Tito, causing Hermilio to run from the church.

Esme comes to see Dalia and they sit to talk. Dalia tells her sister, “If you won’t pardon me, I understand.” Esme explains that she lived in anger for years. She was robbed of her son, while Dalia had a child to care for, feed, and love. “You were the good mama,” she says. Esme has recovered from her jealousy and rancor, and is willing to pardon her sister. They embrace in reconciliation.

Sandy is following Matt outside, asking him to revive their marriage. Val and Leo ride in, changing Matt’s focus. Matt doesn’t understand, asking Val what happened. She wearily says to leave her in peace and leaves. Leo tells Matt his version of events on the mountain, which Matt doesn’t believe. Insults and accusations are traded. Their angry discussion ends with Leo saying Matt has a wife and he should keep his place.

Val is face down on her bed, crying. Mama Mag comes in, hugs Val and starts to talk. Leo strides in and tells Mag to leave. He warns Val to be careful—it would be too bad to lose her Mama after it took so long to find her.

A brief insert scene with Luisa selling flowers to Juan causes Facundo to complain about Cami seeing Juan when everyone knows he doesn’t like women. Luisa offers counseling and wisdom to the disgruntled young man.

Val is now asleep on the bed. Matt comes in, but a fearful Val says he must leave. He wants to help and protect her. Leo breaks in and shoots Matt, leaving a wound in the center of his forehead. Val cries out.

(So now we can sit in grief and suspense overnight, although surely they won't kill Matt at this point.)
 

QT 88-89

Urban, Jorge Salinas is one of my top favorite TN actors as well. La Que Podia Amar was one of my favorite TNs. I would like to see La Esposa Virgen again--guess I should try YouTube. That was the first TN I ever saw and didn't appreciate him fully at that point.
 

ECDLP #36

- Lucia introduces herself to Daniela and promptly leaves Marcelo’s apartment. Marcelo didn’t know Daniela would be there. His relationship with her is over
- Lucia says Marcelo is worse than Rodrigo.
- Daniela calls Milagros. She tells Marcelo that she wanted to visit him. For Marcelo their relationship was over when she started ignoring his calls. Marcelo says he didn’t leave her for anyone.
- Brigida is still sure that Amador is cheating on her. He attempts to appease her by giving her a gift. He finally tells her about Alonso being in the hospital.
- Rodrigo is at a nightclub and runs into Ligia.
- Lucia returns to Casa Treviño. Magdalena asks her what’s wrong. She tells her that she was wrong about Marcelo.
- Marcelo calls Milagros and berates her for helping Daniela surprise him. After he hangs up he realizes Daniela is gone.
- Magdalena points out that clearly Marcelo wasn’t expecting someone in his apartment. Lucia still thinks Marcelo is hiding something but admits she cares about him.
- Rodrigo takes Ligia home and she invites him in but he declines.
- Nora wonders if Alonso knows she’s in the hospital. Rebeca says no. She repeats that she doesn’t want to marry Rodrigo or have the baby. She warns Rebeca that she’ll do something else to stop these two things from happening.
- Marcelo wants to talk to Lucia but Nazario doesn’t think it’s a good idea until M has resolved his personal issues.
- Amador smells woman’s perfume on Rodrigo. Rodrigo reminds him that he’s the one that has a lover not Rodrigo.
- Daniela shows up at Casa Gaxiola looking for Lucia. Rebeca attends to her. Daniela says that while she and Marcelo aren’t married she’s not going to let anyone take him away from her.
- Rebeca claims that the Gaxiola Murillo women aren’t boyfriend/husband stealers. She wants to talk to Daniela more and gives her the name of a cafe and tells her to ask anyone for directions.
- Magdalena tells Marcelo that Lucia already left to the hospital. Magdalena wants to talk to him so they go to the hospital together.
- Nora asks Rebeca about the visitor they had. She maintains that she’s serious about what she said the previous evening.
- Trini thinks Nazario was rude to Marcelo the night before. Nazario isn’t sure what to think of the situation.
- Marcelo explains everything to Magdalena about his previous relationship with Daniela. He was never in love with her but knows what he feels for Lucia. Magdalena believes him.
- Brigida wants to get everything ready for the wedding and the baby. She doesn’t want to have the wedding when Nora is well into her pregnancy otherwise people will start talking.
- Alonso is moved out of the ICU. He’s ready to go home. He notes Lucia looks sad. She just says that she’s been worried about him. He asks about Nora. He wants Lucia to tell Nazario to come see him.
- Marcelo and Nazario chat at the restaurant. Naz apologizes for what he said the previous evening. He wants to know everything starting with Marcelo’s arrival in Puebla. He advises Marcelo to deal with his problems.
- Rodrigo visits Nora. They both agree that they don’t want to get married. Nora reminds him that Lucia will never accept him again.
- Reb and Daniela meet up. Daniela isn’t yet convinced by Rebeca’s interest in helping her. Rebeca doesn’t think Marcelo is suitable for Lucia. Rebeca convinces Daniela to stay in Puebla.
- Nazario goes to see Alonso. Alonso wants him to be in charge of the factory. He only trusts him, Nazario wants Marcelo to help him.
- Lucia takes a phone call from a frantic Nora.
- Vinicio goes to see Amador at the factory. He apologizes for mentioning Ricardo Marquez to Alonso. He thinks it’s a good idea for Amador to have an ally.
- Lucia finds Nora on the stairs in pain. She helps her outside to the car. Lucia begins driving as fast as she can to the hospital.
- Nora apologizes to her for everything.
- Suddenly Nora opens the door and launches herself out. She lays bleeding on the street.
 

QT #90/91

Paloma, I am so sorry you caught this one.

More slicing and dicing and I am peeved. Most of what is lost from this edit is about the Cabreras and about Dalia's despair about how things have been going.

Eva used to come off as a woman who took her daughter's side against Art, but now she is on the verge of being a helicopter parent. Art is even worse than before, even threatening to force Berenice into an arranged marriage that would benefit himself rather than her. Not that I think Chacho is the right man for her, but she's an adult and Art has to stop treating her like a child. When he threatened to drag her home he was behaving as though she were only 12. (more on this tomorrow, if anyone is interested).

I'm too tired and upset to comment on the deaths. I'll be back tomorrow.

While Lucia definitely has issues, Daniela would only ever be a millstone around Marcelo's neck. I can't imagine her being a good mother, either.

Brigida may think herself sophisticated but her attitudes are seriously provincial. Not to mention that her selfishness almost matches Rebecca's.

Am I the only one here who is bothered by how they did Rebecca's lipstick?

Great job, Paloma, on a brutal episode. I took a break after the initial bloodbath (what did we do to deserve THAT?) but was lured back by your charming description of Chacho's proposal. Didn't Bere look adorable in that dress? Maybe she'll hang up those flat-fanny pants now.

I've lost what little respect I had for Val at this point. She just saw a homicidal lunatic kill two of her friends in cold blood, he has dismissed his henchman, she's holding his gun and has a horse waiting, and she just collapses in a soggy heap? I know not everyone is a killer, but jeez girl, pop him in the kneecap and take La Chula home. (And if there's one self-defense tip I've learned from this telenovela, it's to hit the villain with the 2 x 4 AT LEAST TWICE.)

My favorite hobby now is watching Sandy's face while everyone else is arguing. Since she's left out of most of those conversations, she seems to be just amusing herself.

Oh and PS, definitely a dream sequence at the end. No way Mat would survive a shot to the forehead, and we need him for stuff.

I, too, was disappointed in Val. She should have shot Leo while she could have. Maybe she was stunned by all the violence, but a girl has to defend herself. Leo isn't all that mesmerizing. Now she really has to keep her wits about her.

I agree and it really bothers me that heroines typically get a drop in IQ at this point in the story. She should have hit him repeatedly until he was unconscious. I will cut her the slack that she doesn't know the homicidal history of his family.

Mateo can't die. The blood on his forehead looks like it was grazed. I didn't see a hole.

Oh, and speaking of guns, I definitely got the feeling Surem had fired a warning shot. Since he obviously hunts his food, he would be unlikely to miss such a large target at close range. (Although to be honest it looked like a shotgun and not a rifle, in which case he would have pretty much hit EVERYBODY, but why quibble?)

533.) With 23 episodes left in this Telenovela, we're heading into the home-stretch. We pick up where we left off with Gullible Aurora & Sister Nun coming up with a good cover story to Mother Superior to explain where they went.

534.) Psycho Barbara is furious at Mooching Damian for not springing Gullible Aurora out of the convent. Looks like Mooching Damian is living at the summer house.

535.) Sister Nun has every right to be concerned about the safety of Gullible Aurora, etc.,

536.) Back at the summer house: more of Psycho Barbara & Mooching Damian.

537.) In the middle of nowhere, the taxi Florecita is riding in had a flat tire LOL.

538.) In the parking garage, Creepy Vlad & Priscila talking inside Priscila's vehicle. Blah, blah, blah between them.

539.) Las Animas: Franco, Clingy Erika & Steve, Jr., inside Franco's office discussing wedding plans; Clingy Erika wants Steve, Jr., to accompany her to acquire Franco's baptismal records (Red flags Eduardo!)

541.) Back to the parking garage, Jackass #1 Anibal slithered his way to see Creepy Vlad & Priscila talking inside Priscila's vehicle. Body Language tells us Jackass #1 Anibal is enraged & drives off.

542.) Back in Puebla Purification: Florecita tells the taxi driver to back up as she sees Psycho Barbara arriving at Colegio Buena Esperanza.

543.) Florecita informs Redhead over the phone on the situation regarding Psycho Barbara visiting Gullible Aurora at Colegio Buena Esperanza; Redhead is curious on the connection between them.

544.) Steve, Jr., & Clingy Erika meet with church officials & discuss Franco's baptismal records.

545.) Colegio Buena Esperanza: Psycho Barbara touches the pregnant belly of Gullible Aurora. I can tell by Gullible Aurora's body language she's creeped out & wants space.
 

ECDLP #37

- Nora is conscious and Lucia asks a passerby to call an ambulance.
- Sara goes to check on Alonso. He thanks her for everything.
- Rebeca walks into his hospital room. She laments not being there when he was taken out of the ICU.
- Amador asks Rodrigo if he looked over some papers he had left for him. Amador decides to make Rodrigo a messenger between the factory and its clients. Rodrigo worries it’s not legal.
- Marcelo and Nazario talk about running the factory in Alonso’s absence. They are worried about Amador, however.
- Rebeca is trying to be a doting wife by helping Alonso eat. He asks her about Nora.
- Mario arrives to see Alonso. Alonso needs to discuss business with him and sends Rebeca out of the room.
- Lucia arrives back at the hospital and tells Rebeca about Nora.
- Milagros tries to justify her actions to Rafaela about Daniela visiting Marcelo. Rafaela wonders what’s so special about Daniela compared to other girls Marcelo could meet and date.
- Daniela waits for Ligia, who turns out to be her distant cousin, outside of L’s apartment. Ligia invites her up.
- Mario goes to greet Magdalena in the hospital. He invites her to dinner at his place and she accepts.
- Daniela and Ligia catch up. They both have different life paths. Daniela lost her mom when she was 12 and her dad isn’t really around. Ligia offers Daniela to stay with her.
- A doctor comes to talk to Rebeca. Rebeca tells Alonso that Nora is also hospitalized.
- Marcelo calls Daniela. He doesn’t want to end things badly but she doesn’t want to be friends. She asks if he cares for Lucia and he says yes.
- Lucia and Rebeca take Alonso in a wheelchair to Nora’s hospital room. Nora wants to know what happened and Rebeca tells her that she lost the baby.
- Nora says that her accident was Lucia’s fault, that Lucia didn’t want her to have Rodrigo’s baby. She calls her a murderer.
- Rebeca tells Nora not to blame Lucia. Lucia thinks Alonso believes Nora.
- Lucia runs out of the hospital and into Marcelo. She doesn’t want to talk to him and keeps running.
- Alonso is worried about Nora. Rebeca wonders if Lucia is really at fault. Alonso wants to go home already but Reb doesn’t think it’s a good idea. He wants to talk to Sara and/or the cardiologist.
- Milagros and Daniela talk on the phone. Daniela wants M to return to Puebla to help her get Marcelo back.
- Nora and Rebeca talk about what’s going to happen now that Nora lost the baby. Rebeca asks her again if Lucia really caused the accident. Nora says yes.
- Marcelo goes to Casa Treviño to talk to Lucia. He tells her that he cares very much about her. She says she doesn’t feel the same way. She just said that to make Rodrigo jealous. She still cares about Rodrigo. She says Nora lost her baby. Marcelo says he laments ever meeting her.
- Magdalena doesn’t think it’s a good idea that Alonso leave the hospital. Luckily Lucia is safe and sound and Alonso can talk to her later.
- Amador goes to see Alonso. Rebeca tells Alonso that Nora has been discharged. She tells Amador that Nora lost the baby and to tell Rodrigo.
- Alonso and Nora are brought home. Alonso prefers to stay in the guest room. Rebeca thinks they/she deserve a second chance. Alonso doesn’t think their marriage will be the same. He needs time. Rebeca thinks to herself that Al has never valued her
- Marcelo gets a phone call from Rafaela. She doesn’t know where Milagros is. She thinks she returned to Puebla.
- Marcelo finds a picture of Federico and his ashes in his apartment.
- Milagros is visiting with Daniela. They talk about Lucia and Daniela tells Milagros about Rebeca being on their side. Milagros still thinks they should be careful.
- Rebeca goes to see Marcelo. She claims to be worried about Lucia. Marcelo doesn’t believe her. He says that he was thinking about what Lucia said about him flirting with Rebeca. He thinks Reb would like that so he goes in for a kiss on the mouth. Rebeca slaps him but he kisses her again. The camera pans to the picture of Federico which Marcelo turned so Rebeca wouldn’t see it.

This will be up (maybe much) later today. It will be very long by comparison because I will be including the deleted scenes, so I ask for your patience.
 

QT #92 Part 1 of 4

Just as Val told Matt that Leo killed Surem and Remi Leo entered. He pulled Matt off the bed and hit him with his riding crop. Matt fell to the floor. Leo shouted “Shut your mouth!” and shot Matt. Val screamed and sank to the floor. Most of the colour faded out as Matt raised his head and said “You killed me” and a keening Val saw the dead bodies of Surem, Remi, and Magdalena, all clad in black and with dead open eyes. Then Dalia, Minnie, and Sabina appeared, all clad in black and standing in judgement. Minnie accused her verbally, saying “You should have shut up. You killed him.” Sandy appeared, also dressed in black, saying “You left my son without his father.”

Val sank to the floor, but wait – this was happening in the living room. In a nightmare. She woke on her bed, fully clothed, crying and screaming. Magdalena came in and embraced her.

Juanito brought Camila flowers and apologized. He said he loved her and didn't want to lose her.

Matt entered Dalia's room to check on her. He told her about Surem, whom she had known. He said he didn't understand what happened. Val had seen the fire and was behaving strangely. She was not talking to him. Dalia told him “Enough! You worry more about her than about Sandy and your child.” He tried to explain that since they were married Sandy had changed. She only cares or talks about his potential inheritance for a life that is contrary to his dreams. Dreams shs did not share. She had told Dalia the exact opposite of what she was saying to Matt. Matt told her to think. Sandy was a serious liar.

Aaron had a visit from Padre G, whom he did not welcome. He did not think himself worthy of forgiveness, citing that his actions hurt many people. He cited Tirso (still thinking that he had killed Amara). “Now I only wait for death.” Not only did he not love Sandy, she did not love him. Padre G encouraged him to cry it out and said he would not be alone.

Dalia told Matt he was about to throw away everything he always wanted: a family. He said Sandy was a different person. He said he would give his child everything. Dalia was still fixated on the family Sandy never wanted. Matt tried to emphasize that not only did he not love Sandy, she did not love him. Dalia would not listen, insisting that he work things out with Sandy/. Dalia said not to return “until you make me proud of you [Of course, Dalia was never married, so what would she know?] Matt left, frustrated.

Sab and Carlo paused I their prep for the opening and had just decided to go out to eat [Mexican food! As in Fajitas con nopales!] When Minnie arrived pointedly stating she needed to speak privately with Carlo Sab left them alone, taking her attitude with her.

Vitor went to the hacienda to enquire about the fire. Leo told him that Val had gone to see Surem for herbal stuff for her back pain, saw the burnt remains, assumed he was dead.then called him to come for her. Victor asked if she had called from the cabin. Leo said there was no signal there so she walked around until she found one. He rode over on his horse and found her. End of story. Victor asked if they had inspected the cabin for survivors and he said “No, she said the fire had consumed everything. In that moment my only concern was to calm her down. Because she was feeling ill.”
 

QT #92 Part 2 of 4

“So you came back to the hacienda?”
“No. We went to a property that belonged to my father, a lttle off-course.”
“Did anyone see you?”
“I don't know. There aren't many people there. If you'll excuse me, I have nothing more to tell you.” He stood up.
“Can I speak to Valeria?”
“That will need to be another time; she's still very upset.”
Val entered, dressed in black, saying “Don't worry, Inspector. I'm able to talk to you.”
Leo turned around and looked at her. Victor noticed this.

Carlo poured shots. Minnie drank hers, said this was not going to be easy, and asked for another. When he gave it to her she told him she had been his father's lover. She had been in love with Eliseo and it had been difficult. Carlo knew nothing of this and Minnie told him his father could not speak of this. She did not either because she did not want to be responsible for his death. She told him that while he had not done so personally her husband had killed him because he considered her to be his property.

Esmeralda served coffee to Padre G who came to talk about Aaron. Esme was still unwilling to forgive him because she had lost 30 years of motherhood in the belief that her son was dead. Padre G tried to get her to understand that Aaron may have gone about it the wrong way but he had saved Matt's life. Esme considered his actions to be a betrayal of their friendship and that he deserved to be in prison for the rest of his days. Padre G excused himself because he had to see someone in Santa Rita, but ht told her to think about it.

Leo was present when Victor talked to Val. Leo starred at her as she told Victor she was sure that what Leo told him was true. She had not called for help because it would have to have come from too far away. Victor asked why she had not called the police. She glanced at Leo and said she had not thought to because she wasn't thinking clearly. Leo stared at her in a threatening manner as Victor asked “How did you know Surem was dead? Did you enter? Someone would have had to.”
“No. No one else was nearby. I assume he was because his horse was in his corral. He would have ridden away.”
Victor looked carefully at both, then said it looked like their stories matched. He stood up and said “If you remember anything else, call me.”
“Of course, Inspector,” she said. She looked uncertain.
Victor then told them that Aaron was in jail and listed the charges against him. Leo asked what this was all about. Victor explained that the charges were filed by Matt's birth mother. Aaron had done what he did to conceal Matt's paternity and to protect him. Don Patricio did not know that he was Matt's father> Leo cursed at the concealment. Victor explained that Aaron had tried to commit suicide and Matt had saved his life. Leo was not pleased to hear this. His comment of “imbecile” could have meant either Aaron or Matt.
Victor took his leave. Leo had figured out that Val knew what he had been talking about. She said she would comply with his demand and hoped he would keep his word.

 

QT #92 Part 3 of 4

Angelita approached Matt, knowing he had been looking for his birth mother. He told her everything was alright. She told him she loved him, then had a pain she may have misinterpreted. She went on her way.

Chacho and Berenice had gone directly from the restaurant to the local city hall and were married. The white 1950's style dress suited her very well. Cleo was their witness.

Sandy – in her usual pettiness – reproached Sab for making herself some tea from a package she had bought. She tried pulling rank, as though she were already the mistress of the house. They exchanged the usual barbs, ending with Sab noting the increasing distance between Sandy and Matt. Sab told her not to think a child keeps a man or she'll end up with empty hands.

Minnie was in her room reading the diary. Leo silently entered and closed the door behind him. He took it away from her, read a few lines, and asked her why she never told him this. She replied that it would have done no good for him to know and he would have burned it. He said “Of course because this jerk was a peón. A fifth-rate peon. You're just like Valeria, consorting with the lower classes.” He started to destroy the page and threw the bok to the floor. She picked it up and he demanded she stay away from Carlo and if he ever caught her with another man he'd put her out into the streets.
“You have fallen low. I thought you were the only decent woman in this house but you are a cualquiera.”
She slapped him.
“I saw you kill two men with my own eyes and I did not condemn you. You ran from that and I did not condemn you. You played the innocent in front of Valeria and I did not condemn. I protected you, Leonel. I am your mother and you will never treat me this way again. You want me to behave like a Montes and I will. But – like it or not – this love story lives in my heart until the day I die.” She hugged the diary and stared at him. He looked even more demonic.

Padre G went to see the man who had run ot of the confessional. He brought home the point that there was the opportunity to make good. The man told him that Tito's sperm donor was Artemio Cabrera.

In the tack room Val told Matt they were talking for the last time. He was to forget her, make up with Sandy, and be happy. She was going to marry Leo.

Padre G pressed for more info. The man waffled on whether the birth mother was dead or alive in the US.

Matt could not believe Val, demanding to know what had happened and why she was marrying Leo. She repeated what she had told Victor and said she was in love with Leo. He did not believe this. She could barely look himi in the eyes. He pointed out why he didn't believe her and she said she had been mistaken, saying Leo was protecting her. She was mistaken when telling Matt she loved him. He made her look him in the eyes and say she didn't love him. She said “Enough! Don't seek me out again.” Matt did not give up. “So what passed between us meant nothing?” She avoided his eyes.
 

QT #92 Part 4 of 4

The man told Padre G that before Tito came to the orphanage he received precise instructions from Art himself. Old photo-print flashback to Art arrving in a pickup truck. He told him that a boy named Roberto Arana Dominguez will arrive. He was to be told that when his grandfather died he was to live here until his mother returned from the US. He did not want to say more but he finally got Art to admit that the boy was his son and his birth mother was Dorotea Arana. The boy was two years old and wold not recognize him. He showed him a photo on his cell phone. He didn't give a damn about the child and wanted the situation under control. He had all the family he needed. The child had no other relatives. The grandfather was dying and the birth mother was gone. Art didn't want anyone else coming after him. He gave him a wad of cash and told him he knew where to find him.

He told Padre G he never told the woman in charge of the orphanage. Padre G said he would question Art and tried to reassure him he would treat this convesation as part of the confession.

The judge told Chacho and Berenice that the wedding kiss was symbolic. “Save it for the honeymoon.” Everyone began applauding. [Cleo smiled, so I guess Berenice's job was safe.] they talked about the hypothetical honeymoon but said it would be after the religious ceremony.

Padre G was determined to find Tito's mother. His informant feared that Art would kill him.

Matt and Val continued over the mistake that wasn't. SSDD. He asked whether she knew who set the fire. She said she told the truth and wanted him to understand.

 

QT #93 Part 1 of 3

Val tried the same family lecture Dalia failed at. He didn't buy it. She said not to touch her and to leave her alone before walking away.

Magdalena entered the study and demanded to know what Leo had done to Val. He demied having done anything but Magda did not stop. She let him know she would kill him if he hurt Val in any way. He gave his usual answer: He would make her happy, lady of the house, and of the town. Magda called him a monster. He said she was only alive because she was Val's mother but... he could change his mind about keeping that promise. He ordered her to shut up or she would be three meters underground. Minnie – sober for a change – heard this and the insult that capped it. She entered the stud and stared at her son.

Matt ran after Val and finally caught up. She claimed she was crying because “one moment of passion” almost lost her Leonel. He didn't believe this and begged for the truth. She persisted in this horrible lie.

Minnie confronted her son about Aaron; he did not care. She said that every day he was more and more like his father. He told her to leave. When she did he picked up the hat and the riding crop.

Angelita went to Val's room and Val told her she and Matt had an argument.because he did not approve of her marrying Leo. Ange finally told her that she and Matt were with the wrong people. Val told her that this was a secret but she loved Matt and this was adult stuff that Ange would come to understand. That one loves someone they're capable of anything. Ange admmitted that she did not understand.

Tito found Matt sitting alone under a tree and asked what was wrong. “Adult stuff” was the answer. A fewe seconds later he admitted it was abot Val. They hung out together.

Cleo addressed a roomful of peeps about the grads and then handed out the diplomas. Berenice and Chacho probably went there straight from city hall. Chacho took the photos and Berenice was asked to address the room.

Carlo put new flowers on his father's grave and some bells from the ranch.

Berenice thanked Cleo and Val, finally Chaco [for not clipping her wings].. One of the male execs looked a little upset.

Carlo cried as he knelt at the grave. Minnie watched from under a tree and then hugged him.

Berenice called Eva saying she would be home that night with a surprise. Eva said she'd make a great dinner. She then called Art who took the credit for Berenice's decision to come home. Eva told him not to start any conflict. Berenice said she had news for them and he said he wanted no escandalo.. Eva asked why he always anticipated the worst. She expected him to do his part. He answered that Berenice would have to do more than he to make it work.

 

QT #93 Part 2 of 3.

Carlo admitted that he had not been to the grave since the funeral. He asked Minnie why she was there. How did she know where the grave was? She started to answer but the wind caused the bells to ring. Carlo said that in some strange way his father might hear those bells now. Minnie placed flowers on the grave. She looked at Carlo and it was obvious she saw he looked exactly like his father.

Aaron went before the judge who asked him again if he had a lawyer.

Cleo talked to Alberto. Both were especially impressed with Berenice. Cleo observed some jealousy in him.

Night.

Victor was at the hacienda to tell Dalia and Magda that Aaron was to be in court in the morning. Dalia took Esme's attitude. Corina brought her her meds and Dalia wanted to go to her room. Magda wanted to get back to work, but Victor said he needed to talk to her.

Matt told Esme he was sure something serious happened at the cabin because of Val's strange behaviour. He explained his reasons for that. Esme speculated that “sometimes we don't see the truth about people we love,” but Matt knew he was right. He had confided to her about Sandy. He said Dalia was not speaking to him. Esme said he could count on her even if she didn't agree with his decision. She said to think of his child and what he wanted for himself.

Magda told Victor she was there for Val. She was especially concerned now because Val was very sad. Overnight she had changed her mind about marrying Leo. Victor told her to be careful. Then he said things at his place have gotten worse and he had asked for a divorce.

Another patient started a fight with Tirso. The woman Tirso was fascinated with ran him off. But she also looked creeped out by Tirso.

Magda asked Victor if he expected to have a chance with her after the divorce. She said no and he was to get a divorce if his marriage wasn't working, not to pursue her.

Sandy was treating Magda like a peón de quinta and Val called her out on this. Sandy tried playing the Mother of the Future Don card Val was not intimidated, saying “You mess with my mother again and you will really know who I am.” Sandy left without a word, only a petulant expression. Madga told Val she shouldn't have done that. Val said that Sandy had to learn to respect her.

 

QT #93 Part 3 of 3

Leo was on the phone with some political crony when Sandy entered without knocking. “Your little fiancée is an idiot threatening me only because I gave her mother the servant orders to get me something to eat. You better control her – ”
“I am controlling her. And you need to remember she will be the only mistress of this house.”
“But I am –”
“You are only the bastard's wife. Do you understand? Like it or not I am the only legitimate heir. The only legitimate Lady is Valeria.” He further said that if she didn't like this she could move back into the small house.
Sandy brought up the political stuff and Leo said he didn't want her near him. She tried to seduce him and he told her she was only a distraction and meant nothing to him.

Val and Magda were in the “I am your mother, etc” conversation which ended with Magda saying “I would giv ethe rest of my life to see you happy.” [Please, writers, don't.] She asked forgiveness for having left her with Nadia and that every day without her was torture.

Val later called Padre G to ask to talk about her mother. She ended the call and left.

Matt was in Art's office where Art got on his case about mistreating Sandy. Matt tried to explain the reality but Art went on about “We all have our side chicks but in the same house? And you cuckolded your own brother? That is so beyond unacceptable.” Matt told him he was mistaken and he had no right to say anything about this, “but all Sandy s interested in is the money. Not the baby. Not us as a couple.” Art did not refute that. He made a comment about pregnancy that Matt dismissed. Then he said “Sandy is a woman. You have to be patient and to understand her. As for others, be discreet in your choices because I won't have my daughter gossipped about.” Of course he threatened him if he tried to divorce Sandy.

Dalia presented a plan for the inheritance to Leo.

Matt told Sandy he wante to go back to the small house.

Valeria went to the church and overheard Padre G praying to God about Tito, who is the son of Artemio.

I don't know how anyone could believe that Lucia could have done this to Nora. Nora is the demon spawn and it seems that only Rodrigo really knew this, but his credibility is questionable. Lucia must know now and Rebecca doesn't count because she hates Lucia.

Alonso is clueless and Amador doesn't care.

Daniela is another breed of toxic, the more cowardly version of Nora.

I think that Marcelo intended for Rebecca to see the photo. He has been trying to trick her into slipping up ever since he arrived in Puebla.
 

Thanks, Urban. I can tell you put a lot of work into these recaps. Thanks for including some of the things we missed due to the slice and dice.

Sometimes an antagonist is evil but smart. Sandy is just dumb and can't see beyond her own selfish desires.

Now we see Min's inner sorrows and maybe give her a tiny bit of slack for her snotty behavior.

I agree, Paloma. Once Minnie finds out about Leo's latest murders she may decide "Basta!" and turn him in. I doubt that he respects her enough to not consider disposing of her in the usual manner.

Thanks, Urban, for dishing up the snipped bits. I particularly appreciate the news that Mat wants to move back to the little house. One can certainly understand why, although Sandi will fight that with every fiber of her being.

Art's whole "don't poop in your nest" lecture was hilarious. Alexis Ayala sure seems to be living it up in that role.

It just occurred to me -- what if the mysterious mental patient that Tirso is hanging around turns out to be Tia Nadia? After all, there's probably only one manicomio in Mexico.

I had the exact same thought about Nadia, although this actress looks a little young and not as "worn" as a drug addict usually looks. But it would make sense within the context of this story.

Although Don Patricio has not actually been haunting the property I think it would be a good idea for Padre G to perform an exorcism on it in the penultimate capitulo. It might force all the evil ones out.

We still don't know Lorenzo's parentage and nobody seems to have wondered who Valeria's sperm donor was.

Talk about l'esprit d'escalier, there are just enough episodes left for Valeria to turn up pregnant and we know that Mateo would be the father.

BTW, do we know what replaces this and when? That will give a clue as to whether they continue the hatchet job on this series. Why are they doing this now when too many truths have to come to light? I still hold it against Univision that they once made a tiny cut in QBA that robbed the audience of a vital piece of information and they cut out an important Karmageddon in the next to last hour of PyP.
