You stabbed me a thousand times and then acted as if you were the one bleeding. -Unknown
Previously: As the NSMSquad watch on a monitor from the van, Vera tells them that Fausto is there, Fausto walks slowly to Vera saying that it is an odd place to meet. Vera tells him that she wanted to meet him at her mother’s grave so that she can ask him face-to-face, “Why did you kill her?” Without any remorse, Fausto replies that it was the only way to convince Vera to be at his side so that they could put an end to Olmo Casares!
The Now: Vera sneers, “You killed my mother and all just to have me at your side against Olmo! She didn’t deserve any revenge!” Fausto argues that it was worth it! He was able to break Olmo and bring him to his knees! Vera HATES Fausto and is ashamed to be his daughter! Fausto laughs and thinks Vera is so predictable. Her only motor is love, but it can also be her downfall. That great love that she feels for her mother needed only a little push to get her to follow the right path. He had to kill Antonia so that they could get to where they are now. Inside the van, Julio comments that they have Fausto now since he just confessed to the murder. They all think that the nightmare is about to be over, but as they talk, Vera and Fausto continue to argue. Fausto states that the only one responsible for everything is Olmo. Vera counters that he needs to take responsibility for his actions; he destroyed her life and took her mother! When Fausto retorts that the end justifies the means and snarls “Daughter!” Vera tells him never to call her daughter again because she has never been his daughter and she never will be. Vera turns to leave, but Fausto thinks that she won’t be able to leave without hearing her mother’s last words. He pulls out his gun and points it at her as he tells her that she will not be able to live without knowing what was going through her mother’s head before leaving this world.
Faby and Eddy run out holding hands and laughing. Eddy saved her life and he is her hero! Eddy points out that she saved his life several times too…and no one will ever separate them. After they express their love and KISS, Eddy tells her that they need to return to Octavio; Eddy needs to pay him for all he has done…Eddy wants to see his grandfather in jail and make sure that the kid is released from prison. After they kiss again, Faby wants to get going and as they run off she again tells Eddy that she loves him!
At the cemetery, Fausto finds the wire on Vera...he knew it. After he yells, “Say good-bye to her!” the NSMSquad scurry out of the van. Pedro immediately runs off while Gonzo gives Julio and Teo guns to protect themselves in case Fausto’s goons attack.
Elsewhere, Laiza is driving as fast as she can while Silvio and another car give chase. After Delia looks back and sees Silvio, Silvio hangs out the window and starts shooting at them. They SCREAAAM!! Laiza then spots Gaston’s car. The chase comes to a screeching halt when a man carrying a large box walks out between Laiza’s car and Silvio’s vehicle! Laiza stops too as they see the man hit the ground!
At the cemetery, Fausto and Vera have reached his vehicle. He tells her to get in. When Vera asks what he will do if she doesn’t, he tells her that she must be testing him…he didn’t flinch when he killed her mother, what makes her think he won’t kill her just as easily. Just then, Julio shows up and yells, “Let her go!” After Julio assures Fausto that they have enough evidence to put him in prison forever since everything he told Vera is recorded, Fausto slowly starts to put his gun down as he states that it had to happen sooner or later…that’s life.
At the warehouse district, Gaston quickly runs to Laiza’s car. After he gets in, Silvio is also up and starts to shoot at them, but Laiza speeds off.
Back at the cemetery, Julio reproaches Fausto for ruining all their lives. When he tells Vera to come to him. Pedro runs toward them yelling out Vera’s name. This is enough to distract Julio, so Fausto grabs Vera and shoots Julio (in the shoulder)! Pedro jumps at Julio to get him out of the way (a bit too late!) and in doing so knocks himself out (that could only happen to Pedro!). Fausto drags Vera into the vehicle ,and as she screams out for Pedro, Fausto uses a taser to knock her out.
At the hotel, Ivana tells Olmo that she is fed up…if Faby wants to run off then so be it. When Olmo tells her that she can’t let Faby go, Ivana sighs and states that she is tired...she can’t convince Faby of what is best for her…she is just like her father! Olmo argues that they are not ones to give up…they have to get their children back!
At the cemetery, Pedro comes to and sees Julio. As Pedro tries to stop the bleeding, Julio laboriously tells him to take care of Vera…he hopes they will be happy. Julio passes out!
At the hotel, Olmo insists that they should not allow anyone to ruin them; they will recover everything that has been taken from them! They will take advantage of Fausto hiding like the rat he is……they are returning to THEIR house! As Ivana goes to pack her things, she gets a call from Silvio who tells her that Gaston messed up their job.
At the cemetery. Gonzo and Teo find Pedro still trying to stop Julio’s bleeding. Pedro tells them that Julio is still alive and asks them to take care of Julio while he goes to look for Vera.
Delia, Laiza and Gaston are in a warehouse. Gaston tells them that even though they try to get away, they won’t be safe anywhere. Delia can’t believe that her best friend wants to kill her; so Gaston clarifies that it wasn’t Olmo, it was Ivana who gave the order for the hit. Delia thinks that Ivana wouldn’t dare make a move without Olmo’s permission, but Gaston assures her that Ivana has already done it…she doesn’t wait for his father’s permission. When Delia asks what they will do, Gaston resolutely tells them that he has a plan; he will attack. Laiza is shocked that he is going against his family. Gaston thinks that he should have done it a long time ago., but he was a coward. He is now going to do things differently; he will do everything he can to protect them.
Octavio tells Emilia that neither Faby or Eddy have a cell phone; they should have stayed and looked for them. Emi knows her son very well and is sure he will return. She comments that men do crazy things for love. Octavio argues that Eddy is going through a lot but he won’t be able to be with Faby anyway…she will have to go back with her mother. Emilia however, thinks that miracles do exist
At the cemetery, the paramedics are taking Julio into the ambulance when Pedro comes running back. He asked some people if they saw anything, but their response was negative. Gonzo then asks If Pedro has any idea as to where Fausto could be, but Pedro is clueless (nothing new!). Just then Lola calls Pedro so he gives her the rundown on what happened, including that Fausto shot Julio who is being taken to the hospital. Lola cries as she asks Pedro to find her friend. . Octavio thinks that this is not a matter of miracles, it is a matter of laws, reason and logic. Emilia is adamant that love can do it all! Octavio only hopes that she is correct and that Faby and Eddy return.
At the garage, Laiza videotapes Gaston who makes a statement for the press—This is a message for the press and legal authorities of the city of Mexico. Surely many of you know me; my name is Gaston Casares, son of Olmo Casares, prestigious businessman. I recently found out who my father really is, a hateful man capable of associating himself with the worst of criminals…and betray those who are close to him just to reach his goals. In this case, I am making him responsible for the attempted murders of Delia Castro and Laiza, two people who were at one time, within his circle, but today he does not hesitate to have them executed by order of my aunt, Ivana Castillo…his so-called companion.. As of today, I give up all the accommodations and privileges that I have had because of my last name and my social status. I offer the authorities my complete collaboration in charging my father for this crime and others, like money laundering, and his involvement in the death of the well-known criminal, EL Chamaco..
Delia can’t believe that Olmo was also involved in El Chamaco’s death. Laiza remarks that this is a bomb. If he sends it to the press, it could cause hm serious problems. Gaston agrees and adds that they would probably kill him. When Delia disagrees that Olmo would hurt him, Gaston tells her not to be fooled, they are capable of killing whomever. Gaston then tells them that he is going to send the video to Olmo and Ivana; it will be their life insurance.
Alicia is frantically looking through Fausto’s desk as she speaks to Teo on the phone. She can’t believe Julio was shot; Fausto is an animal! Teo asks her to get out of there NOW! Alicia agrees since she has found the documentation on the money laundering through the Hotels Economy. She is about to leave when Jass enters and wonders if she too is going to betray his father. She will not leave until he sees what she is taking. Alicia is in luck, one of the minions comes and tells Jass that Olmo has arrived; so she scurries away.
Eddy arrives to the house. Emilia is very relieved. Eddy asks her to forgive him, but he had to get Faby out of there. He extends his hand to show that Faby is with him. Octavio goes to hug his daughter who tells him that she missed him. Emiia smiles and tells Octavio, “See, I told you so; miracles to happen!”
Outside Casa Casares, Olmo is telling his former guards that their current boss has abandoned them. Jass comes strutting out assuring them that Fausto has not abandoned them! He is there to represent him! As he darts at Olmo, Olmo swats him like a fly sending him to the ground. Olmo remarks that they know who he is, the owner of this house and all of them are HIS employees or they don’t have a job. A Jass argues that Olmo doesn’t give the orders there and tells the men that they aren’t going anywhere because this is HIS house, Olmo pulls his gun from his pants and wastes no time in shooting Jass in his forehead! Everyone is frozen as Alicia watches from a distance. She listens as Olmo assures the men that their silence will be compensated; she then sneaks away before she is seen.
Octavio tells Eddy that he shouldn’t have risked himself. Faby thinks that the only thing that matters is that Eddy’s plan worked and they are together. When Eddy remarks that now the only thing left isto put his grandfather in jail, Octavio agrees but adds that Olmo Casares will also be going to jail because he is a murderer. Octavio then thanks Eddy for rescuing his daughter; he promises that everything will come to an end soon and justice will prevail. Emilia smiles widely as she adds that they will all be a family…and asks for a group hug.
Olmo orders that Jass be buried at the stables. He takes Ivana by the hand and states that they are finally at their house. As they stand in front of the looming entrance, Ivana adds, “Home sweet home.” Olmo assures, “And the next one who will fall will be Pedro.” Once inside, they look around, Olmo sighs deeply and after he kisses Ivana, he says, “We did it!”
Pedro, Teo and Gonzo are in the car when Alicia calls; so Pedro puts her on speaker. With fear in her voice, she tells them that Olmo killed Jass; they were returning to the house and they killed Jass right in front of her eyes! (Get out of there Alicia!). She needs to get out of there, but she doesn’t know how without them seeing her. If they figure out that she saw everything, they will kill her! Pedro tells her to go to the south side of the house toward the stables; there is a secret door there. Alicia cries as she thanks Pedro, hangs up, and takes off. Pedro stops the car as he tells Teo that he needs to go for Vera since Fausto is capable of doing anything; Teo declares that he will go for his grandmother and Gonzo is taking off to the hospital and will notify Julio’s family. Pedro takes off like a madman (the way he was steering, you’d think he was swerving like a drunkard.)
Olmo and Ivana listen to Gaston’s message. Olmo can’t believe that his other son betrayed him too. When he comments that he didn’t do anything to Delia or Laiza, Ivana tells him that she did. When he asks what the hell she did, Ivana admits that she ordered that they be given a good scare because she didn’t like that he got slapped and was called a murderer; she did it for him because Delia disrespected him.
Outside, Alicia manages to find the secret door and runs out., She sees a white car stop quickly and starts to run away, but Teo jumps out and calls to her. When he asks if she is okay, she replies that she has never been better now that she is in his arms; she saw death so close! After Teo assures her that he will not put her in danger again even though she didn’t accomplish anything, Alicia tells him to give her some credit… she has the documentation to put Fausto in jail and she was a witness to the murder Olmo just committed!
Fausto is securely tyinb a rope to an upstairs rail. Meanwhile, Vera is lying on a couch with her feet bound. She wakes up and calls out for Pedro, but she only gets chided by Fausto who tells her that her prince did not save her and he is not there with them. When Vera asks why she is there and why she is tied up, Fausto explains that Pedro still needs to do some things for him. Fausto wants Vera to make a call; she is to tell Marina to meet her at the mansion.
Olmo can’t figure out what Gaston wants, so Ivana explains that he just wants protection for himself, Delia and Laiza. Olmo calls Gaston and demands to know where he is! Gaston replies that he is at Olmo’s hotel; if he wants to see him, he can go there. Olmo is furious and roars. “Are you mocking me? How dare you threaten me!” Gaston explains that he just wants Olmo to leave them alone, but Olmo snarls that Gaston is an ingrate! Without him, Gaston is nothing…and here he was placing Gaston on a golden platter by giving him his empire! When Gaston points out that it is an empire of crime, Olmo retorts from that Gaston has lived, from that, Gaston has been able to eat! Gaston argues that he has lived Olmo’s lies, but this is where it ends. He warns Olmo that if something happens to Delia or Laiza, the whole world will know that Olmo is a criminal. When Olmo thinks that Gaston wouldn’t dare, Gaston advises him not to dare him….Olmo raised him. When Olmo hangs up, Ivana tells him that Silvio has located Pedro. Olmo, however is still in disbelief that Gaston is threatening him; so Ivana suggests that they still have a way to control Gaston…with his son! Gaston would give anything for that child! Olmo nods like a toy puppy on the hood of an old car.
Vera refuses to call Marina, but Fausto assures that he is not asking her to do it; she either calls Marina or there will be consequences! Vera wonders what he will do! Is he going to kill her? Well he can kill her, but she is not going to a call Marina to set her up! Fausto assure her that he won’t kill her, but it wouldn’t bother him to kill Nico! When she asks what he wants Marina for, Fausto is sure Vera knows for what since Marina is daddy’s favorite little girl. After Vera sneers, “You are trash!” Fausto tells her that she doesn’t understand how revenge works…the gameboard is set for the last game! He then asks, “If you had one last opportunity to save your son, would you take it?” …as he hands her the phone.
Teo takes Alicia to his apartment. Lola is relieved that Alicia was able to get out of that house. As Alicia sits down, she comments that Olmo is furious and Fausto, the same. She is sorry about Julio, but as long as there is life, there is hope; so no tears should be shed. Lola is sure Julio will be fine since he is strong. She then asks about Vera, so Teo tells her that Pedro is looking for her all over the city since Fausto gave no clue as to where they could be.
Vera grabs the phone from Fausto and calls Marina; she tells her that she needs to see her at the mansion. Fausto grabs the phone before Vera says anything more. Marina is befuddled and tells Andres that Vera wants to see her, but she hung up suddenly…she sounded strange. Andres points out that they are ready to leave…it is not a good idea to go there. Marina worries that it could be important…or that Vera and Pedro are in danger. Andres doesn’t care about them; his priority is Marina and the baby. He reminds her that they had agreed to distance themselves from them and asks Marina to promise that she will not return to the mansion. Marina nods and says, “Okay,” but her look says otherwise.
At the hotel, Gaston gets Laiza and Delia a room. Delia worries that this is Olmo’s hotel, but Gaston assures her that this hotel holds many conventions and is always full of people; they will not dare try to hurt them there. When Laiza asks if he will stay with them, he assures her that he will not leave them until he knows they are safe. Laiza smiles. Just then, Gaston gets a message…it’s Melida; he is sure Ivana has told her something. When Laiza asks if he is going to see Melida, he replies that he is going to settle this once and for all…but first he will escort them to their room.
Fausto has his back to Vera and pops a pill. Vera sees that Fausto has left the phone on the table and grabs it, She quickly calls Pedro…and the idiot SHOUTS, Pedro!. Fausto quickly turns and points his gun at her yelling, “What are you doing?!” Pedro listens and asks Vera if she can hear him. Pedro is so focused on asking Vera where she is that he doesn’t notice the vehicle that has stopped next to his car. He looks up and sees a gun pointed at him; so he raises his hands looking stupefied. Another goon opens his door, pulls him out, punches him in the stomach and throws him into their vehicle!
Laiza and Delia follow Gaston off the elevator. Gaston is going to his room, he is going to do what he should have done a long time ago. Melida comes out of the room and sternly asks, “What are you doing here with them?” Quite resolved, Gaston replies, “They are with me; they are my family.” Melida addresses Laiza and harshly asks if she is starting up with her stupidity; she orders Laiza to leave her husband….they have a son! When Melida asks Delia to support her, Delia asks Gaston, “What is happening?” Gaston tells them to calm down and let him explain—he knows he has been a disaster and hasn’t made the best of decisions, but that ends today. (He’s on a roll!! Keeping on going, Gas!) He will no longer do what is expected of him; he is going to be honest with them…but especially to himself. Delia turns to leave, but Gaston tells her to stay; she is like a second mother to him and he wants her to hear what he has to say. Delia gives him a mod of assent.
At an abandoned train station, Pedro is being roughed up…pretty badly…and his hands are tied! Silvio points his gun right at his head as Pedro looks straight at him (and there is a band of light right across his eyes…for emphasis?) WOAH!! Pedro goes into SuperNinja mode and knocks the gun away with his elbow! He kicks, elbows and pushes Silvio and the two bald goons fiercely…and gets away!!
Ivana sees Olmo looking quite somber; she thought he would be happier now that he is back in his house. Olmo assures her that he is, but without his children there, it just seems too big. When he asks if Ivana thinks he has lost them forever, Ivana shakes her head (and ponytail), she doesn’t think so. She tells him that his children, and Faby as well, will return…and she will be there for him, always. They walk into his bedroom and Olmo tells her to wait there for him. He leaves but comes immediately back with a small box in hand. As he opens it to display a ring, Ivana can’t believe her eyes!
At the hotel, Gaston tells Melida that she is the woman who has given him what he loves most in the world—his son, but they both know that his son was not born out of love, just out of convenience. Melida doesn’t care; and moreover, Gaston agreed to all the conditions. Gaston acknowledges that he did; and he doesn’t regret it…he never imagined what it would be like to be a father. He never thought it was such a big thing…making him want to make each day better. That child brought out the best of him; a part that not even he knew he had. Melida tells him that he should then stop his stupidities and take the place that corresponds to him. With much resolve, Gaston remarks that his place is not with her, nor is it with his mafioso father! Laiza, with jaw dropped, gives Delia a quick look.
Back at the mansion, Ivana is muy feliz! She recognizes Alma’s ring; and, Olmo wants her to have it. He puts in on her finger. As Olmo holds her close, Ivana remarks that she had been waiting for this moment all her life! She had accepted that this moment would never come. Olmo assures her that the ring is hers; she deserves it. Olmo tells her that they will overcome and rise again; and Ivana adds, “stronger than ever…Fausto is on the run, El Chamaco is dead…” Olmo thinks that sooner or later, his children and Faby will return. The family is all they have; and little by little things will fall into its proper place. As Ivana takes off his jacket, she clarifies that things will fall into a better place. As the sexy music plays, they kiss and Ivana adds. “because now we are together.”
At the hotel hallway, Gaston continues pouring his heart out (and impressing us!) The place where he should be is by the side of the woman he loves…whom he has loved all this time. As he looks at Laiza, he adds, “At times, I didn’t realize it, but it was you; it was always you (okay, ladies, grab the tissues). And I never had the courage to go with it, nor to go against my father. So if you still love me, if you can give me the chance, I’m here.” Laiza bows her head as tears roll down. Gaston turns to Melida and tells her that he came to say good-bye to her. Melida thinks that he is not thinking clearly, but Gaston counters that he has never seen things so clearly. Melida still thinks he has no idea what he is doing. As she turns to go inside, Gaston assures her that he doesn’t care about the money or the power…all he cares about is continuing to see his son.” (great acting, que no?) Melida slowly turns back and tells Gaston to forget about his son; he will never see him again…we have a contract! Gaston lowers his head in fear and disappointment. He turns to look at Laiza and Delia who are feeling his pain. Now inside, Melida sheds her own tears.
At Fausto’s hideout, Fausto unties Vera’s feet and tells her that he is going to meet with Marinita, but before he leaves, there is something they need to do. He clenches his teeth as he orders Vera to “Stand up!” In tears, Vera assures him that Marina will not fall into his trap; Marina must have noticed something in her voice! Fausto harps that she shouldn’t worry about Marina; she should worry about Pedro! Vera questions “why Pedro.” Fausto retorts that Pedro is on his way…she called him! That was her mistake; she fell in love with Pedro. Pedro turned her into at traitor; she betrayed him…her own blood! She has to pay! After he tells her to start walking, Vera sneers that he should turn himself in; surely they are on their way! When she asks what he gains from killing her, Fausto orders her to get up on the chair. She takes a quick look at the chair, then slowly turns her eyes to the hanging noose!
Andres sees that Marina is having second thoughts. He knows that she is dying to know what is going on with Pedro and Vera, and pleads with her that it will do her no good to return to her house. Marina gives him a big (fake) smiles and tells him not to worry; she is going nowhere…this is the start of their new life. As soon as Andres goes for their passports, Marina’s smile fades and she heads to the door.
At the hospital, Lola cries as she tells a sleeping/unconscious Julio that it hurts her to see him like that. She is very sorry; and she wants him to tell her that he will rise from that bed…because he is very strong and brave. He has much to live for. Though it hurt her not to be with him, she found good things with Bernardo…and she promises that Julio will also find good things. As she sits beside him, Julio looks at her and says, “You are right.”. Lola is surprised; she didn’t think he was listening. He was…and thanks her for being there.
At Fausto’s hideout, Vera is standing on the chair as Fausto has his gun pointed at her and orders, “Do it!” Vera shakes her head; she isn’t going to do it! “If you want to kill me, you do it! Pull the trigger…but I’m not going to do it!” Fausto knows that Vera doesn’t care about her life, but he knows that there is a life she does care about! Vera pleads that he leave her son alone, but Fausto assures, “Not only will I kill him, but I will make him suffer a lot before killing him!” He yells, “Do it!” Vera sobs as she slowly puts the noose around her neck. When she puts her hands down, Fausto kicks the chair as he bares his teeth in an evil grin. Vera is left dangling, grabbing on to the rope with her hands!!
Oh my! Oh my! Can Vera keep that rope form choking her to death??? Stay tuned for the GRAN FINAL!!
This is my last recap for this TN! My apologies for the length but there was so much critical dialogue that I just couldn't help but include everything.
LOVED everything Gaston did and said....he turned out to be quite a man, que no? He totally redeemed himself!
Diana, thank you so much for being my recapping partner! It was a privilege to have you by my side.
Had it not been for my recapping partner, Jarifa, Susanlynn, Nina, Fe, Urban, and few Anons I would have dropped this show in the first few weeks. (And I apologize if I left someone out, but whoever you are, I appreciated you!) You all kept me going and I truly enjoyed the discussions.
Cant wait to read your thoughts about this episode!
Great work, RGV Chick, This series is exhausting to watch; recapping it is likely more so.
Melida needs to fall with the lead villains. I can't wait.
Fausto came to new depths of evil in this tale. Trying to kill off his own flesh and blood... it only proves my earlier statement that nobody will be safe until he, Olmo, and Ivana are all dead.
At least now someone had the necessary evidence.
Both Gaston an Pedro got smart at the last minute. What took them so long?
Great last recap, RGV Chick, appreciate all the details and dialogue you capture in each summary.
I was happy to see Gaston choose the side of honest work instead of corruption and power. Melida has chosen Olmo’s side so I hope her punishment will be to loose custody of the baby to Gaston and Laiza.
Didn’t quite understand the scene between Lola and Julio in the hospital. Is there a chance that they will rediscover their love for each other? To me it doesn’t look like Lola is heads over heels in love with Bernardo.
Glad that Jass is out of the picture as there was no hope for him. And Pedro had one galan moment in escaping from his assailants. Alicia, Dalia, Laiza, Eddy and Fabi have arrived to safety.
Tomorrow we’ll see if Vera is saved and and how the evil ones meet their fate; Olmo, Fausto and Ivana!
Fe: My personal thoughts on last night's episode:
1.) WTH ? Fausto enjoying watching Vera being hanged. This dude is fucking disgusting piece of SHIT.
2.) Melida made her damn bed by aligning with Olmo. That expletive needs to lie in it!
3.) Ivana & Olmo need their Karma anvils soon.
4.) Jass getting all uppity resulted in him getting whacked.
5.) Let's hope Pedro survives in the Gran Final.
6.) Gaston FINALLY had a conscience. Still doesn't make up for his complicity in multiple deaths.
RgvChick, thank you for this wonderfully comprehensive and entertaining recap. No need to apologize ever! We are lucky that you stayed on and recapped this to the end. If it hadn’t been for you and Diana covering this one, I would have been long gone, too. That being said, watching ALL kinds of novelas can only add to my greater novela knowledge base. Said like an educator, right? 😊 Again, you hit it on the head with the title and the quote.
This was another very satisfying episode as we head into the finale tonight.
“Both Gastón and Pedro got smart at the last minute. What took them so long?” summed up my feelings up perfectly, RgvChick. I was happily surprised with the progress they both made.
I couldn’t stand when Olmo gave Ivana Alma’s ring. Ewww. It was cringy,
The best scene was Eddie and Fabi running down the street hand in hand.
After watching last night’s episode, I concluded that the best actor in the novela has been Juan Carlos Barreto as Fausto.
So, who will rush in to save Vera? I am looking forward to tonight!
Pure perfection RgvChick. Your beautifully crafted recap, extraordinarily written enabled us to soar to exquisite heights and plummet to the depths of despair. As with every summary you have gifted us with this was completely engrossing, enlightening and enriching. Your intuition and perception are unparalleled.
It is my honor and privilege to have worked with you. You were beyond gracious with your time and assistance without which I would not have been able to recap. You taught me so much but no lesson greater than how much kindness and generosity can provide.
The cold blooded execution of Jacinto by Olmo paled in comparison to Fausto forcing his daughter to hang herself. Even though this heinous act should not have shocked us, it chilled us to the bone.
"Pedro jumps at Julio to get him out of the way (a bit too late!) and in doing so knocks himself out (that could only happen to Pedro!)". OMG, thank you! For the life of me, I could not figure out what happened!! Jeez, 'nuff said.
"Delia thinks that Ivana wouldn’t dare make a move without Olmo’s permission, but Gaston assures her that Ivana has already done it…she doesn’t wait for his father’s permission". This validates what we thought, Ivana no longer believes she requires it. Hmmmm "Ivana admits that she ordered that they be given a good scare" shows Ivana is already lying to Olmo. She wanted them dead, not scared.
"When Olmo thinks that Gaston wouldn’t dare, Gaston advises him not to dare him….Olmo raised him". Indeed and thus redeemed.
The NSMSuad did not move fast enough after Vera and Fausto spoke. Too many people in the van!
"Marina gives him a big (fake) smiles and tells him not to worry; she is going nowhere…this is the start of their new life". That sweet smile and outright lie shows she is her father's daughter.
There were a few small details I enjoyed last night. The joyous running of Faby and Eddy showing the carefree children that they should have been all along (my favorite scene too Jarifa). The hugging of Octavio, Emilia, Faby and Eddy - the family they should be.
Melida closing the door of her room, the series of mirrors reflecting her anguish.
Teo being handed the gun staring as though he had never seen one before! This beautiful doe eyed angel seemed completely inept but we had to smile at his courage to carry on.
The lilac (cashmere?) sweater Olmo sported, indicating he shares his son's sense of style.
Gaston's tears realizing that by his decision, he is likely losing his son, the best part of himself.
And lastly, Alicia, trembling and afraid slowly and arduously making her way out of the house and horrors. Her journey seeming interminable but finally seeing the light.
So tonight is it. Thankfully, I will have your masterful guidance RgvChick!
This was grand and glorious RgvChick. Thank you, thank you!!
Diana
Whoopsie, looks like I should have been agreeing with Urban!
Fe, it hadn’t occurred to me that Mélida could go down with the others and leave the baby to Gastón. That would be the fix for that situation.
Diana, good call on Olmo’s lilac sweater. 😊
Thank you, Urban, Fe, Jarifa, and Diana. Your kind words are my adrenaline :-)
Urban, "Fausto came to new depths of evil in this tale." Yes, he did! It's hard to believe he forced Vera to hang herself. Diana, "The cold blooded execution of Jacinto by Olmo paled in comparison to Fausto forcing his daughter to hang herself. Even though this heinous act should not have shocked us, it chilled us to the bone." ...and yet I still have some hope that by not tying her hands, he was anticipating that she would grab the rope to avoid being immediately choked. I have a tiny glimmer of hope that he will end up rushing to her and letting her down before it's too late. (That's the optimist in me.)
What doesn't make sense to me is that Vera played right into Fausto's threat. Ye have little faith in the NSMSquad who would have protected Nico, just like Octavo protected Eddy, Vera!
Melida's tears seemed to be genuine. Could it be that she was actually in love with Gaston? Those were not tears of anger, they seemed more like tears of heartbreak.
Jarifa, Eddy and Faby running down the street hand in hand was a great scene, a very bright spot in all the darkness. And I have to agree that Juan Carlos Barreto's performance has been outstanding from the very beginning. Others have had their moments, but not as consistently as Barreto.
Diana, your listing of the enjoyable moments is spot on! I'm hoping for more enjoyable moments tonight.
Oh yes! The lilac sweater! And what did you think of Gonzo's pink suit? and Ivana's satin outfit? Crimes of fashion? or haute couture?
RgvChick, yes, Melida's tears did seem to be real. I'm not sure she loves Gaston but the hurt was real.
Jarifa and Fem I am praying for shared custody perhaps? Melida does deserve jail but she is cagey and may figure a way out.
And yes, Gonzo's suit!! Haute Couture definitely I say laughing happily. Are we sure he and Gaston aren't related??
Diana
Elvan asks Yahya, why are you under Menekse’s control? She has you eating out of the palm of her hand. What happened? Are you doing something for her? Why is she manipulating you? That’s not true, Yahya replies but not very convincingly. You told me you missed me, Elvan says, and that’s why I came back. Elvan appeals to his conscience, be honest with me. He says he is being honest.
Yahya, I know we’re not good, and I don’t know when we will get better, she tells him, but I’m your wife. She takes his hands, I will protect you. Please tell me, is this woman blackmailing you? He doesn’t even have the chance to come clean, because Menekse walks by with Dudu. Dudu freezes when she sees Yahya and Elvan.
Sorry, I called Dudu, Meanie smirks, so she could come. Her aunt’s fiancé is in intensive care and I thought it would be a good idea to have Dudu visit and give her get well wishes. Elvan looks as if she’s trying to gauge the situation between Meanie and her husband but doesn’t say anything. Dudu nervously greets Elvan and her “boss”, Yahya. I’m going to work, Yahya says. He can’t get out of there fast enough. Elvan smiles at Dudu and tells her, come this way, your aunt is here.
Sancar sits at Kavruk’s bedside and speaks to him, who do you think you are? You made me a promise, he reminds Kavruk, and look at you. Is this how it works? I am lonely Kavruk, do you feel the same? I’d like to change places with you and let you be the Efe. I deserve to be in the purgatory where…where you are. You’d be fine if only I hadn’t asked you to turn in Akin.
I can’t be the Efe, Sancar says tearfully, I hurt everyone. Nare swore not to say my name. My daughter won’t look me in the eyes. Sancar laughs, if you were awake, you would tell me, “Hey, Sancar Efe, you deserve the wife you have and her dirty tricks, everything Yahya did, you deserve it all.” You would say everything happened because I threw Nare out of the house. At that moment, my destiny was written. The bird flew, she flew high and far away, and I sank to the bottom of the sea, he tells Kavruk. I told Nare that if she left, I would become a very bad man. If she gets custody and she leaves, I’m going to need you to keep me standing. Wake up, Sancar Efe implores his best friend, keep your promise.
Nare sits on one side of the bedroom door and Melek on the other. Nare starts, I know you are mad at me for telling you people who love each other have children. But I didn’t completely lie to you. Half of it is true. You know why? Because years ago, your father and I were in love and you were born. But loving and getting along are different things.
Look, your father and I loved each other but we couldn’t get along. We didn’t marry and we didn’t have more children. Nare sighs and continues, real life is not like the fairy tales that you read. Princesses don’t live in the castle of prince charming forever. In fact, princesses build their own castles with their own hands. They don’t need a prince.
But not needing a prince doesn’t mean you don’t love that person, you know? Melek, your father and I….don’t have room in our lives for the other. Nare’s tears fall. We are very close in heart to one another, but very far from each other in real life. Do you understand? Melek nods “no” on the other side of the door. Nare tries to compose herself. I hope you never have to understand that. I hope you find a person who you love and who you can get along with so you will always be in his heart and in his life. Gediz comes part way up the stairs and listens.
dondi356
Nare continues, as for your new brother, I know this is difficult for you, but your heart is too big and these problems are small. I also know you resent your father but in your big heart, you could have a new brother. I’ll be honest with you, I can’t forgive your father because a man can’t have two women in his life, but he can have many children in his heart. The more children he has, his heart increasingly grows. For that reason, even if I can’t forgive your father, you can do it. And if I leave and you come with me, you can have both your father and your new brother in your big heart. Nare cries.
Gediz surprises Nare, is this how the alaca kuş packs? I didn’t want Melek to hold a grudge, Nare explains. So you can live in Switzerland, he sadly asks? What do you want me to do, she tells him, ask Sancar for things like we are beggars? Be his second wife and his children would call me stepmother? Do you think that suits me?
Gediz counters, no, what suits you is living eight years abroad, crying. Sancar comes up the stairs and listens. What would make me feel good, is not to feel hurt, Nare replies. If Akin hadn’t hurt me, if the man I love hadn’t thrown me out and married another person, that would be good. I would be happy.
Sancar speaks up, yes it would be great if you were. He walks over to Nare and tells her, I would give my life to see you happy for just one day. Third wheel Gediz walks away and stops for a moment when he hears Sancar tell Nare, let’s run away for one day. Poor broken hearted Gediz cries. If only Nare could love him. He continues walking.
Sancar continues, let’s pretend that I never hurt you or my daughter, can we? Nare answers, I am looking for the life of a legend and you look for one false day. Neither one is possible. Nare sits by the bedroom door and Sancar sits next to her.
Ayse catches Zehra at Kavruk’s beside again. How many times do I have to tell you to leave my fiancé alone? Zehra gets up and heads for the door. Ayse tells her it’s almost time for the early prayer, go to sleep or your mother will be upset. Zehra stops in the doorway, turns around, closes the door on Ayse and locks her out! Ayse bangs on the door, open up! Zehra ignores her.
I’m sorry, Kavruk, Zehra explains, I swear I’ll hit that woman, she drives me crazy. I can’t stand her. She’s always telling me, “go away, I’ll take care of Kavruk.” Who does she think she is? Ok, I know, she’s your fiancée, Zehra admits, but I am your… you are my… Zehra stumbles on these words… you are my Kavruk, you know?
She continues, do you remember when we were little, and I was the only one who could make you laugh? Maybe I could do that again. Zehra sighs, I don’t like seeing you like this. She breaks out into a sob. Kavruk, wake up, I don’t like seeing you like this. She takes his hand and presses it to her cheek. Wake up, I’m begging you please, wake up, Kavruk.
Well, that does the trick. Kavruk wakes up, sees Zehra crying over him and asks, I’m dead, right? Kavruk? Kavruk? Yes, my name is Kavruk, he responds. She cries and drapes herself over him. He smiles, she cries tears of joy. Are you ok, she asks him? You better believe he is….
Nare and Sancar spent the night sleeping outside Melek’s bedroom door. Nare wakes up to find Melek covered them with a blanket. [they edited that out].
They also cut out a song that played in that overnight scene: Yetinmeyi Bilir Misin?/Do You Know How to Settle? By Sezen Aksu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVaG7dvT91s Turn on the subtitles.
Nare starts laughing and it wakes Sancar; he asks why she’s laughing. Melek didn’t want us to get cold so she covered us with her blanket. Sancar jumps up. ¡Que felicidad! She’s forgiven us, he asks? Not yet, Nare replies. But it counts, Sancar says, it’s a good sign. Sign of what? That there is hope, he tells her, let’s hope.
dondi356
They both smile and remember back to when they were little. They must have had a spat. Nare was sleeping outside of the shack. Sancar was coming home from a fútbol game. He had the team flag draped over himself. He takes it off and places it over Nare. She wakes and gets up, have you forgiven me? He tells her, not yet, it’s still hurts. She’s ticked and throws the flag down. Hey, why’d you throw the flag? If you don’t want to make up, she says, why did you cover me, she asks? He explains, I gave you the flag as a sign, a sign of hope. End flashback.
Sancar says, let’s hope Melek doesn’t keep us waiting too long. Nare doesn’t think it will be too long. And you, Nare, he asks? Will your promise be as long as mine, he asks hopefully? No answer as she enters the bedroom. Sancar follows her in.
Melek is huddled on the bed with no blanket. She must have been cold. Nare covers her with the blanket. Melek wakes. Sancar asks her why she gave them her blanket. She turns away and says, we still haven’t made up. He asks her, how long will it take? Melek doesn’t know, she’s looking for a reason to forgive but she can’t find one. She tells him to go and she will call him when she finds one.
Sancar tells her it’s ok, he’s going to see Kavruk. Can he have a hug? No. Nare asks, what about me? Melek holds her arm out for her mother and Nare joyfully jumps into bed with her daughter, showering her with hugs and kisses and tickles. I missed you, she tells her daughter. Sancar looks on and smiles.
They leave Melek’s room and Sancar gets a call from Elvan. Kavruk woke up! Finally! What great news! How is he, Sancar asks? A little dazed but okay, Elvan replies, he’s going to get better. We see Ayse and Zehra fussing over Kavruk in the background. Sancar tells her he’s on his way. He shares the good news with Nare and she’s all smiles. She says, let’s go see him.
Sancar tells her this is not what I want. She stops, what are you talking about? This is not what I am looking for, he tells her, you said yesterday that I wanted a day of lies. I don’t want that, I’m fine now that I see you smile. That’s enough for me. She tells him before they see Kavruk, she wants to go home to change clothes.
They leave Gediz’ house and Gediz comes outside. He stops Sancar, where are you taking her, he asks? Sancar approaches Gediz, he’s ticked. Why do you care? Maybe I’m kidnapping her. Sancar reminds him, I already warned you, she is my woman and my wound. Understand? Gediz goes low, does your pregnant wife know, Sancar? Sancar shakes it off, gets in the truck and drives off with Nare.
Meanie approaches Elvan, who is out on the balcony cutting into an apple with a knife, eating it piece by piece. Meanie asks, Kavruk woke up? Yep, he woke up. And what did the doctor say, Meanie asks? Do you really care about him, Elvan replies, or did you run out of secret plans? No, Meanie answers, I thought if he was getting better, we should organize his wedding. And Meanie can’t resist adding, that is if Ayse isn’t sterile like you. [remember, Elvan has a knife, Meanie]
Elvan is hurt but manages to stay calm. She tells Meanie Kavruk isn’t ready to marry, and he won’t even be able to drive for a while. You know what I did, she tells Meanie, I spoke to my MIL and hired someone else. How nice, Meanie says. Aren’t you going to ask me who the new driver is? Meanie doesn’t look to interested but asks, who is it?
Elvan takes great pleasure in loudly announcing, Looookiiiii! Gulsiye leads Loki into the yard, where Meanie can see him and he sees her. Elvan waves to them. Loki nods at Meanie. She looks sick. Do you like the new driver, Elvan asks her? Because if you don’t like him, he wouldn’t be your lover, right?
dondi356
Meanie tries to speak, and Elvan shushes her and cuts another piece of her apple. It’s not okay to do things behind people’s back, she warns Meanie, not to mention talk about my infertility. But to threaten my husband? That’s bad. I don’t know what you are blackmailing Yahya with, but I can blackmail you just like that—she points to Loki. Elvan continues, I will not let you intimidate him. She points the knife in Meanie’s direction. And as for Melek and Yahya, you won’t bother them. You will have to face me before you think about hurting my family. Is that clear? Meanie looks scared and she nods yes. Elvan laughs, she’s won this round. She takes a big bite of her apple and leaves Meanie to panic.
Sancar waits for Nare outside her house. She comes out and wants to take separate cars because she plans to see her lawyer after visiting Kavruk. About the custody, Sancar asks? Yep, she says, the trial was postponed, not canceled. You didn’t change your mind, he asks? You see how I feel without my daughter, you know what I said (about becoming a very bad man) and you didn’t change your mind?
Sancar continues, Nare, I will not let you leave while Akin is near. I won’t let you more than 500 meters away from me. We will see Kavruk and find out about the accident and who took Akin . If Kahraman is behind this, I will kill both him and Akin. I promise. Then I will spend the rest of my life in prison, and you can walk away. So be it, you and my daughter can only leave over my dead body, Sancar tells her. She replies, then over your dead body, it will be. [Ay, Nare be careful of what you say.] Sancar asks if she is challenging him. No, she tells him, you are the one challenging me. She drives off and Sancar follows her.
Kahraman’s guy who is tracking Nare reports back to him, the ambassador’s daughter left and Sancar is following. Kahraman gives the order to start the plan.
As Nare and Sancar drive, a truck pulls out and stops in front of Sancar. The driver tells him his truck stalled. It blocks the road so Sancar can’t get around. Nare keeps driving.
Next, Ceylan jumps out onto the road and flags down Nare. She acts desperate and asks Nare to take her to the port of Gulluk. Nare tells her she can’t, she’s in a hurry. But Ceylan begs and says something that Nare can empathize with—there’s a crazy guy who’s is obsessed and is stalking me. If I don’t get to the port on time, I will have to stay here. I’ve waited for hours and you have been the only woman who has passed. I no longer trust men. Do you understand me? Ceylan cries and Nare relents. Get in. Nare changes course to go to Gulluk.
Meanwhile, Sancar is increasingly frustrated by the stalled truck. It finally moves aside and Sancar speeds off.
Nare tells Ceylan she doesn’t understand what happens to men. Look at how we are because of a maniac. Women can no longer live in peace, Ceylan answers.
Sancar calls, where are you? Nare tells him she is taking someone to the port at Gulluk. Then she will come back. Ceylan is worried and texts Kahraman: “she gave the location to Sancar”. Kahraman is not happy.
Sancar is suspicious and wonders why Nare is going to Gulluk and he changes course to follow her.
Nare and Ceylan arrive at Gulluk. Nare is worried for Ceylan and asks, will you be safe from that man even if you leave here? What if he chases you? Maybe you should have gone to the police. Ceylan assures her she will be safe, she’s going to her uncle.
dondi356
Alright, Nare says, but give me your number so you can call me, I want to know that you’re okay. Ceylan hesitates but then gives in. Nare puts her number on Ceylan’s phone and takes hers out she asks for Ceylan’s name. She gives a false one, Cemile. At this point thugs appear behind Nare. Ceylan grabs Nare’s phone and backs up. The thugs close in on Nare, she turns. She knows she’s in big trouble now.
Sancar arrives at the port. Kahraman can only curse his luck. Sancar looks around and spots Nare being taken to a yacht further from shore. Nare? He runs to the dock. He screams, Nare!!!
Nare is dragged on board. She struggles, let go of me, let go of me. Her captor appears. She is stunned. It’s Akin and he laughs. She explodes and tries to go after him, you bastard! The thugs hold her back as she continues to struggle. Akin suddenly looks past Nare in the direction of the dock. He’s spotted Sancar. Nare turns to look as Efe takes a running leap into the water and starts swimming.
Akin orders his goons to shoot. The bullets fly and Nare is hysterical, don’t shoot! Don’t shoot! Stop! Sancar keeps swimming towards the boat, until he’s hit. Nare watches in horrified silence as her beloved slips below the surface. Akin pronounces, he’s dead. Red clouds appear as Sancar sinks further down until he hits bottom.
Nare kneels and watches the sea for a sign of her Efe. She cries and softly speaks to him, you promised me you would never leave. The sea brought you to me, it would never take you away… “Bu destan denizin dibinde başladı orada bitmiyor”— This epic started at the bottom of the sea, she says, and it doesn’t end there… We see little Sancar dive into the water and pick up the shell while the adult Sancar floats in a red cloud at the bottom of the sea.
Melek walks out onto the terrace wrapped in the blanket she had placed on her parents. She sits on the wall and looks out in the direction of the sea. She sniffs at the blanket, it has the scent of both her mother and father. She smiles, breathes deeply and wraps herself tighter. That’s right, she says, I can make peace with my dad now.
End season one.
dondi356
The only fashion felonies I can think of from this series are the horrible little-girl dresses on Marina (which suited her character), most of Emilia's early stuff, and Ivana's hair. I can't think of a single bad outfit worn by any of the other Caceres women.
Still wondering about those turbans on Alicia. Helena Rojo would look perfect in vintage 40s clothes.
I am predicting that both Juan Carlos Barreto and Guillermo Garcia Cantu will be nominated for Best Villain in the next round of awards. Marisol del Olmo will be nominated for Best Villana.
As to the hanging scene, I would be hard-pressed to think of anything more shocking. In every discussion I've ever been in about The Godfather the question comes up about whether Vito or Sonny would have ordered the death of Fredo. Nobody could make an easy decision about it. However, Michael Corleone was more clear-headed than either of our murderous patriarchs here. Ivana might have had the hots for him.
I thought it was hilarious how Olmo dispensed with the little weenie wannabe "crime lord" Jacinto, first swatting him down like a fly and immediately shooting him in the forehead without skipping a beat and not giving him a second thought. He (Jacinto) really had delusions of grandeur about his abilities. Good thing Eddy is a good guy because with his intelligence and quick thinking, if Fausto had managed to turn him, he would have out-Olmoed and out-Faustoed those two.
Dondi, Dondi, Dondi, thank you for this excellent recap and all tbe recaps that you have given us as our sad story moves along.
This episode was filled with angst and tragedy . That final scene of Melek wrapped in the blanket that she had so sweetly covered her sleeping parents with the night before and gazing out to sea where tbey were both in danger broke my heart. . San and Nare should have forgiven each other for tbeir daughter's sake.

Now where will this story go?
SpanProf, good call on the Patricia situation. She even had Lucha lying about what she heard “in town”: the sisters had drowned trying to cross the river into the USA.
Oooo . . . Patricia sent Armando’s ashes flying!
Why do I get the feeling that Horacio isn't going to take Consuelo’s advice?
Interesting that Valentina brought up the pandemic to Héctor as the great leveler of society.
SpanProf, you have me laughing with Armando’s asjes “deserving it.” Horacio will probably win but I am expecting a detour at the hospital first.
Ms Chick this the bomb. And All the insanity. Fausto has really lost it and Olmo is stupid blind and cheap.
Why is he passing alma's jewelry around? He to cheap to buy these so

Previously: Julio is wounded but survives as his friendship with Lola is similarly resuscitated. Olmo gifts Ivana with his dead wife’s ring, formalizing their relationship fomented in hell. Gaston disavows criminality, clears his conscience and declares his destiny is to be with the woman he has always loved. Marina seemingly acquiesces to Andres’ request but follows her heart with steely resolve, determined to answer the call of her friend.
Ensnared in Fausto’s vile web, Vera is bound and forced to consider the unthinkable – a suicidal end. Unwilling to shoot her, Fausto demands Vera hang herself otherwise, Nico will be tortured and executed. Sobbing in despair, hatred emanating from her eyes, she tightens the noose around her neck. With insane, maniacal laugher Fausto traverses the narrow gap between insanity and evil and kicks out the chair beneath her! She flails in the air, grabbing onto the rope as she fights for her breath, for her very life.
The Gran Final Begins:
As Vera sways high in the air, Pedro rushes in, releasing her from the noose with mere seconds to spare. Fausto furiously fires his gun but is off the mark as Pedro dives to the floor pulling Vera down with him. Fausto scatters like a scared squirrel, running into a room, barricading the door and escaping down a stairway. Vera shakily tells Pedro she is all right and immediately asks about Nico. Pedro assures her Nico is fine and is with Lola. Fausto limps to his car and speeds away.
Mélida is putting the baby down (along with a sweet toy elephant) when Gaston comes in. When she asks what Gaston is doing, he reminds her he is still the owner of the hotel. Mélida doesn’t think he has changed – he will always be the entitled son thinking he can get everything he wants. It is more cut and dried with her. If Gaston divorces her, he will get nothing and he can forget about his son! Gaston wonders what she would do if he told her that everything is about to disappear; his father’s days are numbered and Olmo and Ivana are going to end up in prison - or worse. Mélida disagrees saying Olmo is a respected businessman. Gaston counters with “A respected businessman who put a bomb in El Chamaco’s helicopter! You know perfectly well that this will not end well.” When Mélida asks what he is proposing, Gaston replies. “Something very simple; that you let me be a responsible father. I don’t know if I deserve it or not; I don’t know if you are in agreement or not, but this is my only opportunity to do things right.”
Vera tells Pedro Marina is in grave danger. Fausto forced her to call Marina and tell her to go to the mansion where he plans to hurt her. She tries to reach Marina, beseeching her to answer but alas, she does not. Pedro agrees they need to act quickly and get there before Marina does. Using their heads, Vera calls Gonzo alerting him to the imminent danger Marina is facing. Gonzo assures her the police have been alerted and they are working as a coordinated team. The police are in possession of all the evidence including Fausto’s recorded confession.
Another alert goes out as Gonzo calls Octavio.
Diana
Mélida is rather astonished admitting she is seeing a new and different side of Gaston. Gaston believes they never really saw each other for who they really are. Melida admits that although she had feelings for him at one point, they should never have gotten together; that was not their destiny. After Gaston mentions Laiza, Melida concedes she doesn’t think that he is at fault for everything. She knows that she made mistakes too, but now with their son, she sees things differently. Gaston remarks that their son was no mistake. As they look at him, Gaston brags, “Look at what a handsome son I left you with.”
Silvio gives Olmo Jacinto’s personal effects, but Olmo scathingly questions why they would want the gardener’s things. What Silvio should have done was to keep Pedro from escaping. Olmo mocks that Silvio is his best man, yet Pedro got the best of him. After Silvio leaves, Olmo looks for his whiskey, but the cupboard is bare. Olmo curses Fausto, who has left his scent and imprints (fingerprints on his furniture) and all over the house! It makes him sick! He can’t believe Fausto dared burn Alma’s portrait! Ivana suggests that if he is done complaining; he needs to calm down.
Safe and secure in Octavio’s hideaway, Emilia, Faby and Eddy are sitting down to lunch. Faby thinks that now that she is with them, she will eat well and that she will not suffer any further hellish issues with food. In that vein, Emilia assures her that whenever she needs to return to therapy, they will all go together. After Eddy adds that they will support her, Octavio apologizes since he can’t stay to eat with them. Gonzo called him and needs Octavio’s help with something. After Emilia questions him, Octavio informs them that the moment has come; they are about to catch Olmo and Fausto together. Even though he is no longer a policeman, he must be there. Faby asks him to take care of himself; she already lost one father and doesn’t want to lose another. Octavio assures her that nothing will happen to him; they shouldn’t worry. He charges Eddy with taking care of the women.
At Olmo’s, Jacinto’s phone rings. Olmo connects but says nothing. Believing he is speaking with his son, Fausto blurts out that there has been a change in plans; he will have to leave the city for a while. Olmo then says, “Are you looking for Jacinto, Fausto? Well you’re going to have to come dig him out from the stables!” When Fausto asks if he killed him, Olmo admits that he did…and with great pleasure! Fausto roars that Olmo has crossed the line and it is time to settle this face-to-face!
Back at a happier venue, Eddy is glad that his grandfather will finally pay for everything he did. When Faby tells him that he will be free, Eddy adds that the poor guy who is in prison for killing Antonia will also be free. Faby realizes that she thought she hated her mother, but she doesn’t want anything to happen to her. Eddy understands because he feels the same way about his father.
Marina arrives at the mansion and calls Andres, explaining she had to come because of Pedro and Vera. Andres tells her he cares only about Marina and their child. He pleads with her not to go in, he is on the way. Marina tells him that she has arrived but she hasn’t entered; she doesn’t know what to expect. She gets out of the car as Andres intercepts her. She explains she has to go in alone as there are several chapters of her life needing to be closed before they marry. At that moment, Fausto sneaks up and tasers Andres on his neck. He sneers hello to Marina and grabs her forcefully by the arm saying they will visit her father!

Octavio goes to the station and gives his ex-boss all the necessary evidence to lock up Olmo and Fausto, alias Raul Bernal. The incriminating documents and photos prove the link between El Chamaco and…At this point, Octavio is interrupted and told he is already aware. The district attorney already told them about the operation and sent in the recording of Fausto’s confession. He asks for a few days to look at the files, but Octavio argues that they are not police just because; it is their duty. Octavio pleads that the boss help him out.
Olmo prepares his troops for battle. He advises them that a war is about to start and losing is not an option. He is waiting for an old friend’s visit and wants his arrival to be heralded with a surprise. Guns cocked!! Ivana smirks as she adds that the surprise should be that Fausto shouldn’t be able to know where it’s coming from! Olmo dictates, “Under no circumstance, whether legal or not, should Fausto enter this house again!” Silvio stays behind to pledge fidelity; he knows he let down Olmo, but he won’t do it again.
Gaston meets with Laiza and tells her that he will be able to be a part of his son’s life….and hers too…if she will have him. Laiza reminds him that he is still married…no need to rush. Gaston tells her that Mélida is more generous than Laiza thinks. Mélida is letting him go and divorcing him. Tomorrow, Gaston plans to sign the divorce papers…and they will share custody of Olmito. And now that he is the most eligible bachelor again, he asks if she will be his novia. After kisses, Gaston takes that as a yes.
Fausto, sporting a beard of blood, has Marina embraced in a steely grip as all guns are trained on him. He orders Silvio and his goons to drop their weapons or he will kill Marina! After Olmo orders it to be so, he tells Fausto that this is between the two of them. Fausto snarls, “Either your men leave and we enter the house like civilized people or I will blow her brains out!” Olmo orders his men to leave and tells Fausto to calm down. Fausto tells Olmo that he will follow him inside. Fausto walks forward with Marina in a headlock. Ivana looks only mildly concerned.
Pedro calls Gaston and tells him that Marina is in danger and that he needs to go to the house NOW! Gaston asks why he is calling from an unknown phone, but Pedro cuts him off screaming to go to the house - they need to save Marina. Gaston relates this to Laiza wondering if it might be a trap…but he can’t allow his sister to be in danger. Laiza wants to go with him, but Gaston doesn’t want her getting involved; he needs her safe.
Marina cries as she pleads for her life. Drawing on a lifetime of fatherly love, Olmo asks Marina to listen to him; she needs to be calm…everything will be fine. Disgusted, Fausto tells Olmo not to lie to his daughter. “Do you not know me? You know exactly what I am capable of! This would be a 2 for 1, wouldn’t it?” Olmo pleads he not hurt Marina; Fausto can do with him whatever he wants. Olmo pleads, “Kill me. You would be left with everything, my company, my mansion, with everything.” But Fausto wants to see him fall apart…in pieces…crying for the death of his daughter! Marina begs again for her life and asks her father to tell Fausto not to kill her! After Fausto tells her to shut up, he addresses Olmo, “You will see right in front of you, the death of what you love most in the world, Olmo Casares, your little daughter! Olmo talks to Marina lips quivering as Fausto trains the gun on Marina’s side. He bargains that Fausto take him. He puts the gun at Marina’s head and throws her on the floor.

Laiza apologizes to Mélida for interfering in and causing problems in her marriage. Mélida thinks that the one who came between them was herself. What happened with Gaston was something else, something much more complicated. After Laiza points out that they still have a son, Mélida agrees that will never change. She explains she was won over by ambition and wanting to grow. Laiza thinks Mélida was influenced, but Mélida clarifies that she allowed herself to be manipulated by Ivana, by her desire to be part of the Familia Casares; power overtook her and she got lost along the way. Laiza reiterates that she still has a son…if Mélida wishes they can start from zero. Mélida would like that!
At the mansion, tensions have escalated to the breaking point and resolution is moments away. Fausto orders Marina to “Get up - go to Your father”. Olmo beckons, urging Marina to come to him. As Fausto moves to shoot, Olmo seizes control by moving surprisingly fast, throwing Marina to safety, stepping in the path of the speeding bullet! Now lodged deeply in his chest, the spurting red blood is proof positive that the mark has been met.
As Olmo teeters on the edge of death, Fausto’s fury is unabated. He screams “Idiot! You had to get in the way! The problem with you, Olmo Casares, is that you have always been so sentimental. Getting between your daughter and the gun will only result in you watching her die as you die too!”
With the appearance of Pedro, Gaston and Vera, the family is reassembled. In his death throes, Olmo asks his children for forgiveness. To Marina, he whispers, “Daughter, take good care of my grandchild. He turns to Gaston asking that he watch over Olmito. As his life force begins to ebb, he utters that is what is always most important is the family. As Marina and Gaston dissolve in tears, Olmo calls “son”, beckoning Peddro over. It is impossible to tell who is more shell shocked - Pedro or Viewerville! Olmo begs his son to forgive him. Pedro grimaces and bites his quivering lip. And with that, Olmo enters the netherworld.
Meanwhile, Ivana has slithered over and picked up the gun. It appears she is aiming at Vera but she shoots Fausto, several times. As Fausto lies lifeless, Vera screams, “No! No, Fausto! You can’t die! You have to live and you have to pay! You have to pay for what you did to my mother! You have to go to prison! You can’t die, Fausto! Her cries are unheeded as hell has decided differently.
Delia relates the news of Olmo’s death to Laiza and cries.
Diana
Octavio and the police arrive and survey the carnage. Octavio tells Ivana to give him the gun. Ivana says, “Olmo. we have to go, come with me. Let’s go.” Octavio tells her that Olmo is dead. Ivana responds, “Octavio, take care of Faby; tell her that I adore her, please. Tell her that if she doesn’t want to see me, I understand. Please…You promise?” Octavio reassures her and gently leads her out.
Andres and Marina reunite as do Vera and Pedro. Marina reassures Andres she is fine and so is our baby. My father saved me.
A small group gathers for Jacinto’s burial. Emilia is tearful and Eddy stoic as they say their goodbyes. Faby and Octavio complete the circle as the priest prays: “The memory of the just shall be eternal. Take, Lord, the souls of all the faithful dead, of all the ties of their sins, and by the help of your grace may they avoid the judgement of divine vengeance and may they revel in the happiness of eternal light”.
Emilia wishes him eternal peace and Eddy swears to take care of his mother. They hug bravely. Vera voices her sympathy and laments his deciding on the wrong path from the wonderful life he had.
In a women’s prison, Ivana gets a letter. Faby tells her that she is in an excellent school and adds. “I want you to know that despite all that happened I love you very much. I wish things had been different so that we could be together.” Ivana’s face goes through a rapid succession of expressions, real pain, anguish and regret.
Teo and Mélida meet with Gonzo. Fausto and Olmo’s deaths have brought everything out in the open. Mélida adds that they know that the Casares empire is about to disappear and the guilty will go to jail. Teo points out that not all the Casares are guilty. Mélida hands Gonzo the documentation that proves that neither Gaston, Marina or Pedro had any knowledge of their fathers’ illicit businesses. When Gonzo asks Mélida about herself, Melida replies that she knew nothing until a few months ago when they fired Alberto. Gonzo asks if she knows who killed him; Melida replies “no” but she is willing to help with whatever is necessary so that justice will be done.
Vera walks through her mother’s house imagining her mother putting a comforting arm around her, smiling as she beams her approval for her beloved daughter.
Little is as sweet as the promise of love, the enticing allure of joining of hearts and souls, the melding of the physical and the spiritual. True love, the final resting place of hopes and dreams has many diverse, winding paths to its doorstep. While an uneventful march for a few, some must fight with every fiber of their being, with every ounce of courage they possess. For these, the journey is treacherous and paved with heartbreak. Vera and Pedro have traversed this road yet fought their demons and adversaries to persevere and become a family with their son. Other roads are paved with overwhelming obstacles demanding great sacrifice. Such is the road tread by Gaston. Emotional turmoil hinders and seeks to destroy, yet Marina slayed her dragons of hopelessness and insecurity to find her core of steel. Teo learned he wanted to commit to someone who offered him everything. Eddy and Faby recognized love immediately and have carefully fed and nurtured their blossoming blooms. Octavio and Emilia are on the periphery of their respective destinies, singularly and together.
It is Pedro and Vera who we celebrate today. Feuding fathers, hate, avarice and a bloodthirsty vengeance quest were but a few nearly insurmountable roadblocks thrown in their path. The nefarious sowing of demon seeds of doubt and suspicion planted by others conspired to keep them apart. While damage was inflicted and at times hope diminished, the power love wields did not abandon them.

Vera, the bride, looks lovely escorted as Nico and Bingo escort her down the aisle. Bingo steps on her gown but Lola is there to fix her train and push the errant pooch aside.
Vows are exchanges and Vera and Pedro are married!
In other wedding activities, Teo offers an engagement ring to Gonzo and slips it on his finger. The answer is a resounding yes!
Alicia ugly cries on the shoulder of a new, very much younger beau, blaming the wedding for her tears.
Gaby and Eddie run from the table, a move not unnoticed by Emilia. Faby wants Eddy to tell her everything, but he asks about her school buddies, the geniuses. Faby thinks that sounds too nerdy. Eddy tells her that if she is a nerd, then he loves it. Faby asks if he has made friends at his school; so he tells her that everyone is normal…he is just a shadow. Faby assures him that for her, he will never be a shadow. When he asks what he will be, Faby replies that he will always be her love, and her hero (this is better than the wedding!). Besos!
The three siblings gather together basking in their happiness. Gaston wants to toast to the family but wonders if they are still a family. Pedro assures him that they are; they will always be siblings even though they don’t share the same genes. Marina interjects, “We share our whole lives.” After Marina adds, “in good and in bad,” Gaston jokes, ‘In sickness and in health, till death do us part!” Pedro suggests a toast to the new generations, that they live in peace.
Gaston takes the mic. He warmly welcomes everyone and asks for an applause for the chef…and a toast for the novios….
Eddy kids Emilia about taking a slow breath…like she used to take a breath for his father. Emilia feels that there are days in which she feels that she has let his father’s spirit go…and she is in another chapter of her life with a man whom she loves and who loves her. When she adds that there are other days like today…Eddy finishes, “that you just want to be taken out to dance…and fortunately for you, I inherited his gift for dancing”! So, so sweet.
Delia is holding the baby as Gaston and Laiza do a teleconference with Mélida, who is at her office. She thanks Delia for taking care of him. Gaston wishes the “attorney” luck at a trial, though she won’t need it. When she tells him that he doesn’t have to refer to her as “attorney”, Gaston knows that, but if it weren’t for her, his siblings and he would be in prison. Laiza offers to make her (some dish) since she missed the banquet. Hmmm is Melida a public defender now? (Inquiring minds e.g. RgvChick and Diana want to know!)
Julio and his date smooch it up on the dance floor as Lola and Vera smile approvingly. Lola is glad that she doesn’t feel that little thorn in her heart because of Julio. Vera and she agree that Julio deserves to be happy. Lola shares that they (we are assuming she is referring to Bernardo as we glimpsed a quick shot of him) bought a house with three bedrooms—one for them, one for Regina and one will be a studio. Lola will now be a full-time stepmom.
Lives intersect, grow together and grow apart. Tragedies and atrocities are not forgotten, but are purposely and perpetually pushed further into the far recesses of the mind. But on this happy occasion, mortal and venial hurts and transgressions are set aside and joy and happiness are the order of the day.
With the party still in full swing, the groom approaches the beautiful bride asking: “Do you remember me, gypsy?” (¿Te acuerdas de mi, gitana?) She beams a glorious smile, affirming her answer and her heart.
At the very end, the crew joins the actors in a dance, masks intact as everyone sheds their parts and enjoys the music – and each other.

Retaliation, Retribution and oh, so much more!
The essence of a cake is texture, consistency, aroma and taste. RgvChick, you faithfully baked these delicious concoctions, which on my recapping nights, I simply frosted and decorated. With dialog far above my understanding, I was able to recap only as I was given a solid foundation on which to build. I am beyond grateful for you and your generosity and kindness.
I also thank our small but steadfast patio – Nina, Jarifa, Urban, Susanlynn, Fe and Anonymous. Thank you for joining RgvChick and I and for your insight, humor and support. You helped to make this journey so worthwhile.
Nothing was said about Alma's death. Therefore, we must assume it was from natural causes (?)
My initial thought was that Ivana was spared and did not receive her just desserts. However, seeing her in prison softened my stance. How much I'm not sure. I have to think about this a bit more.
This was the fourth telenovela I’ve helped recap but my first finale recap. Can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts!
Diana
Thank you, Diana. Your recap of this finale was beautifully written. I could picture each scene in all of its detail. You are a very talented writer.
What to say now this is ended?
This was a very enjoyable finale.
As I watched this last episode, it occurred to me that I really didn't care about Pedro and Vera as I should have. They remained somehow cardboard cutouts. So much of this could have been better is these two characters were better developed in their relationship with each other. Their depiction was so one dimensional, it was almost the story of Fausto’s and Olmo’s families as compared to Pedro and Vera’s love story.
The highlights of the wedding were Nico coming down the aisle with Ringo and Gonzo accepting Teo’s proposal.
Kudos to the director for making the fight scenes realistic: Example: Fausto got punched in the nose and had a bloody nose to prove it.
Marina’s almost terminal stupidity was an unpleasant surprise.
It was fitting Fausto and Olmo were killed in shootouts.
I liked Ivana getting a jail sentence where she is going to have way too much time to ponder what she did and being separated from her daughter. Btw, her hair was still looking bad in the big house.
They should have told us how Alma died.
Mélida’s openness to co-parenting and accepting Laiza was a pleasant surprise.
My final thoughts on this one: the actors’s performances were great. It is too bad they didn't have more to work with. The fantastic recaps and entertaining patio kept me watching.
Excellent work, Diana. You and RGV Chick deserve more than applause for your stalwart trek through this tale.
Per your most recent comment I was also disappointed that Ivana was still alive at the end of this. However, after years of the privilege of wealth and some level of power she will be miserable. She's not old, so that will go on for a long time.
The close-up of her hand on the gun was quite telling. He long white nails were like claws. Graciela of Vino el Amor had the same claws. Televisa doesn't miss a thing in the makeup department!
I had strongly doubted that we would have a downbeat ending to this in view of current times. Televisa made the same decision as the Hollywood studios of the World War II years to produce things that would be upbeat or uplifting for audiences living in an ongoing state of stress and uncertainty. In the last few years they have learned how to push the envelope to the max in terms of suspense. Where can they go from here without going into the full-blown narco stories they have thus far refused to do?
I just added Hannah Arendt's book Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil to my Amazon list for my next order. It's all about how evil is normalized and institutionalized which explains characters like Ivana, Silvio, and Jacinto.
More later, after caffeine.
Diana, RGV Chick: Both of you did an amazing job with this Telenovela & loved the recaps.
UA: It was NOT shocking both Olmo & Fausto got whacked in shootouts. Big question is whatever happened to Silvio & the other henchmen ?
Jarifa: I was glad to see Pedro & Vera getting their happily ever after! Melida got off way too easy in my personal opinion.
The Casares Empire went down the drain Thank God.
I was not shocked at the deaths of Olmo and Fausto. What shocked me was Ivana not dying. She certainly deserved it.
Although Ivana never directly killed anyone it would have only been a matter of time before she would have. Although she had less actual power in the situation, her blood was colder than either of the men's. Within another year or two she would have become a criminal genius and more dangerous than either of the men.
Jarifa, your words mean so very much to me - thank you so very much.
Your insightful "Their depiction was so one dimensional, it was almost the story of Fausto’s and Olmo’s families as compared to Pedro and Vera’s love story" was indeed the crux of this story. Pedro and Vera were peripheral at best.
Mélida's change of heart was the biggest surprise although a most welcome one. I smiled when Gonzo asked her about her involvement and her cagey answer. Yes, she was ambitious but in the end did the right thing.
And the performances were indeed stellar, del Olmo, Cantu and Barreto exceptional.
I've been asking myself if I would have felt more satisfied if Ivana had died. The answer is no. I am not a revengeful person but Ivana was definitely on the cusp if only the way she demeaned Faby. Proof that some flowers bloom regardless of fetid soil.
I was so happy you were with RgvChick and I on this journey...
Diana
Thank you Urban!
Your noting that Graciela of Vino el Amor had the same white claws as Ivana was very astute. You have a far better memory than I!
I agree Ivana will have a long time to rue her sins.
The characters were well written and drew us in to their lives and thoughts. We blanched, we flinched, we smiled, we cried - non-reaction was not an option.
While there were other weddings I might have been a bit more excited to see, Nico and Bingo made that moment for me. Kids and dogs :)
Urban, thank you!
Diana
Hi Steve and thank you.
We don't know for certain but I imagine Silvio and the other henchmen scattered in the wind. I wonder what happened to Edson who helped Vera and Pedro. He had a sick son.
I also meant to mention it was great to see Vera's room mate from prison at the wedding. She was the only reason Vera survived - a wonderful woman (ack. I can't remember her name).
Diana
Diana, thank you so much for a super recap of the finale of this dark tale of revenge, greed, and malice.
Chickie and Diana, so many thank yous to the two of yiu, the dynamic duo who faithfully provided us with detailed recaps of all every dark twist and turn .
I, too, didnt really care about Vera and Pedro ' s romance because the characters seemed flat to me.
Marisol, on the other hand, carefuly crafted Ivana into an increasingly cold, ambitious, greedy, obsessed villain intent on pursuing her raison d'etre , her brother in law Olmo. I would have liked to find out more about the dynamic between Alma, Ivana, and Olmo from the start.
Fausto was a mad man consumed by his need for revenge against Olmo . He managed to survive , but then wasted that life on his lifelong mission to retaliate . I guess the lesson is that life passes us by quickly, and we should strive to live a good life abdnkt waste a monent on revenge .
Olmo seemed to love his children, but in the end, he loved money and poeer more. Sad. The only thing worth living for is love .
Susanlynn, thank you!
I feel a bit cheated that there was no clarification on Alma's death. I have to think it means Olmo did love her, at least as much as he was capable of.
I think he was aware of Ivana's feelings all along. I suspect he would not have moved toward her and he did only when everything started going south. He needed her strength and without her would have had his empire crumble much sooner.
Olmo died for his children and Fausto would have killed his. I hope Fausto occupies the hottest seat in hell.
Diana
The wedding was understated but one of the nicest I can recall. The dress was beautiful and the family dog was in the procession.
Kudos to the composers of the music. Pedro should have deserved that very James Bond leitmotif if the writers had given him more courage since the outset, but all the suspense-filled music throughout the series was excellent.
The prisoner's name was Carmen, I think.
I recapped VEL, so I remember those nails very well. I wear white nail polish myself, but mine is not flat; it's more like pearls.
Ahhh, Carmen! thanks Urban...
The wedding was nice and Vera looked lovey.
Yes, the music was great. I missed the singing in the intro and was a bit disappointed this showed the actors names sans music.
Diana
ACUERDAS
Gracias Diana for a beautifully written finale. Both you and RVG Chick did an outstanding job on recapping this telenovela!
Basically I was pleased with the ending. Olmo and Fausto got what they deserved! Olmo had the redeeming quality of love for his family, as his actions saved Marina’s life while Fausto planned to kill Vera. I do hope that Ivana got a long prison sentence. I was surprised by Melida’s quick change of heart towards Laiza and Gaston but she did prove the children innocent of crimes so her redemption was deserved.
The wedding was lovely with all the couples happily together with their loved ones.
Thank you Fe!
And yes, Melida did ensure Pedro, Marina and Gaston were innocent and documented accordingly- definitely deserving of redemption.
The more I think about it, the more I enjoyed the wedding. After so much angst, it was refreshing to see everyone together and happy.

ITA, SpanProf, about Ricardo. He is a pretty face with nothing of value to offer behind it. Nora the brat better watch herself with Leonardo. He is asking for an undefined favor in the future in return to getting her into modeling. Okay . . . Funny: The press described Horacio as a “galán de balneario” “spa attendant”. Pool boy? Btw, this is a late afternoon offering in Mexico. I could see this being entertaining for an after school viewer with Valentina and Nora and the glamorous world of fashion.
They say that your life flashes before your eyes before you die. Well, Sancar’s life with Nare and Melek rewinds in his head all the way back to the beginning. They were everything to him. And when it seems like it’s the end for Sancar, we hear, he hears, Nare’s voice:
"this epic started at the bottom of the sea, and it doesn’t end there”. Cue the Harmandalı and Sancar begins to fight his way back up to the surface with Nare on his mind.
Nare is still on her knees at the back of the boat as it takes her further out to sea. This isn’t happening, she tells herself. She tells Sancar, your breath should be no one else’s but mine.
Sancar surfaces, gasps for air and yells for Nare. He looks around, the boat is nowhere to be seen. He looks up at the sky. It’s a sign, it’s the bird, the alaca kuş! Sancar makes another vow, alaca kuş I promise this time I will rescue you! He spots another yacht nearby and swims for it.
Nare gets up and turns to the goon squad, which one of you shot him? Who did it? Do you have children? There’s one guy that looks very guilty and Nare zeroes in on him. Is she a little girl, she asks him? Will you give her a hug when you get home? The father of my daughter will stay at the bottom of the sea, but you will have your daughter, she cries.
The cowardly bastard Akin comes out of the cabin. Enough, he tells Nare, you’re making me cry. Go back to your cabin and rest. She turns her grief and anger on Akin. You…. She moves in closer and Akin backs away from her. He didn’t kill you before as not to leave his daughter, Nare tells him, and because of you, she will be alone. She threatens him, if the man I love drowns in the middle of the sea, will that satisfy you?
Nare pushes Akin back into the cabin and onto a couch. She shouts, will you live while ruining my life twice? Did you think you could get rid of him so easily? Do you think this allows you to continue? She grabs Akin by the throat.
Nare then grabs a wine bottle and smashes it. She holds up the broken edge and pronounces, no more! She slides the glass door closed to keep the goons out. Akin gets up but Nare knocks him back down and starts pummeling him in the face! You’d think he could handle her, but he takes a beating. As Mark Twain said, It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. [Raise your hand if you enjoyed this.] The goons try to pry the cabin door open.
Nare continues to rage, I swear I’m going to kill you! You are the vulnerable one now and you are the victim. They will not blame me if I murder you. She grabs the broken bottle, and forces Akin down again. She has him by the hair and holds the jagged glass to his throat.
How does it feel to be a victim and have a maniac have control over you? She continues, they never believed me because I couldn’t prove it. And what if we got married? I would not be the first woman who married her abuser. The cowardly Akin begs. She does not relent, I begged you, too, Akin. We all begged you. The women you ruined begged you. Did you listen? I am not going to listen… there wil be one less bastard on earth. The goons pry open the door as Nare is about to cut. She warns them to stand back or else she will slit Akin’s throat.
Nare’s fury dies down and she begins to think clearer. She tells Akin she won’t be part of his game, she will not become a murderer, and today her daughter’s father will not die. She drops the glass and the goons take her to a cabin down below. Don’t die, she says to Sancar.
dondi356
Sancar makes it to the yacht. His phone is useless. There’s a radio on the boat. He makes a frantic call. Coast Guard? This is Baran 1. Do you hear me? There is a kidnapping…. I think they are headed to Greece. Emergency…. answer! The radio is not working and Sancar realizes he should start the engine to charge the battery. He starts a frenzied search for the key.
No key but he does find a first aid kit. He looks around again and notices a small fishing boat nearby and some diving equipment on the yacht. So Sancar takes the equipment and swims off to the fishing boat. He makes it to the boat and falls exhausted onto the deck. His eyes close and the gunshots and Nare’s screams replay in his mind. Sancar gets up and uncovers the motor.
With a quick plea to work, he pulls the rope on the motor and it starts. He tells himself to stay strong and carry on and it’s hey, canım, rinna nay! Sancar takes off in the little fishing boat and the sea surface foams…
Nare cries in her cabin. [A plea to Allah in the original] Please he can’t leave me! He can’t leave. My daughter has to spend more time with her father. She sobs. We see Sancar scanning the water as the boat chugs along. [Hang on alaca kuş, Efe’s coming for you!]
The yacht stops. The captain tells Akin they must wait until dark to enter Greek waters. Nare thinks she’s going to go crazy. She starts pleading again, I’m going crazy because I don’t want him to die. Please don’t die… don’t die… you have to survive, hold on, Sancar. I’d rather die myself. I’d do it for my daughter, I’d give my life for him to be saved. He has to survive for his family. [in the original, she made a direct reference to Sancar’s unborn baby.] Sancar cannot die, she sobs.
Melek explains her reasoning to Gediz. My mom can’t forgive dad because it’s not possible for one man to have two women in his life but, there can be several children in the life of one man and for that I can forgive him. You are going to forgive your dad, Gediz asks? Well, there is a condition, Melek tells him. What is that? If he divorces Menekse, I will forgive him. She continues, it’s so my mom will forgive him, too. Then she would be the only one in his life. The baby would stay with us and we would be a family of four.
Gediz asks if she would separate a child from its mother just so she could forgive her dad. She thinks for a second and answers, the mother can see her son whenever she wants. And you think that would be okay, Gediz responds. Melek reasons that was ok for her and her dad. Besides, she didn’t see him for eight years. The way she sees it, it is the baby without a mother or her without her father and she feels she’s suffered enough without her father.
Gediz gives her a comforting hug. Stupid Gediz projects his own wish on the situation. He tells Melek, maybe your mom doesn’t want to be a family. This makes Melek very sad. Stupid Gediz realizes he shouldn’t have said that and comforts Melek again, telling her maybe her mom will want it.
He changes the subject. I’m going to visit Kavruk, do you want to come? Melek thinks that’s a good idea, maybe her mom and dad are there and she can ask her mother if she wants them to be a family. They get ready to go.
Meanie nervously watches from the balcony as Yahya explains the job to Loki. She thinks back to Loki’s appearance and Elvan’s threat. She needs to act and she tries to sneak out of her bedroom. Zehra’s bedroom door is open across the hall and we see Elvan standing near it. Meanie quickly moves away before Elvan notices her.
dondi356
Inside, Ayse and Zehra are fighting over how to take care of Kavruk. Kavruk groans, they are torturing the poor guy. The pillow, the blankets. This way, that way, he’s hot, he’s cold. Elvan and Gulsiye are amused by the show. Elvan laughs, you gave us a scare Kavruk, but at least you’re better now. Kavruk’s not so sure about that. And the ladies begin fussing over him again.
Kavruk begs Elvan to help him and she steps in. Meanie takes this opportunity to sneak out of the house. Elvan tells Ayse to give her the pillow and Zehra to open a window. Then she tells Gulsiye to go follow Meanie and see what she’s up to. Gulsiye dutifully complies. [You can’t put anything past Elvan. I say get rid of Halise and let Elvan run the mansion.]
Meanie finds Yahya at the stable with Loki. Ha, ha, Loki winks and blows her a kiss. Meanie orders Yahya to come with her. Gulsiye is following every step they take.
Yahya is pissed. Has Menekse forgotten who he is? [maybe, but I think he’s the one who’s forgotten.] He tells her not to give him orders, especially in front of the workers. Meanie says, so whatcha gonna do about it? Whatcha gonna do to a woman who expects Sancar’s baby? She reminds him about the blackmail. She asks him to find a reason to fire Loki. Why? Meanie says, MYOB, just do it or your wife will find out what you do at work. Gulsiye’s eyes pop and her jaw drops.
Gulsiye charges back into the mansion and starts up the stairs. Necdet is at the dining table with Atike and Halise. He tells her she forgot to serve the cream. She responds, but there is poison, do you want some? And she hurries along. Halise gets up to see what’s going on.
Gulsiye quickly informs Elvan that Meanie wants Yahya to fire Loki or she will tell what he does at work. Where’s Yahya, Elvan asks? She takes off. Halise comes up the stairs, looks at Gulsiye and follows Elvan.
Outside the mansion gate, Yahya tells Loki to give the car keys back to Nedim and gather his things. He’s fired. Loki is at a loss. Why are you firing me? Yahya says don’t ask. Elvan runs out and tells Loki he’s hired again and quickly shoos him back inside. She steps in front of Yahya’s car as he starts to drive away. Yahya gets out.
What are you doing, Elvan? Elvan asks him, better yet, what are you doing? She does not waste time—you fired Loki because Menekse threatened to tell what you do at work. So tell me, what do you do at work? Uh, oh. Yahya stutters, what…what are you talking about? Elvan has had enough and demands an explanation from her husband. He thinks back to his after-dinner parking lot incident with Dudu.
Yahya continues to play dumb [not hard]. Elvan keeps insisting and stops, she suddenly has a terrible thought….I don’t want to think that you… that… Yahya sweats it out. Did you commit a fraud, she asks? Don’t tell me you did something like that and Menekse knows. Please tell me you have not failed Sancar again!
What are you going to do, Elvan, he asks, are you going to tell Sancar I failed again? She tells him she wants him to take responsibility for his mistake. [in the original she wanted him to admit his flaw.] He counters, I never used your mistake [flaw] against you. Elvan freezes.
Flashback to a dinner served three years ago. [They mention the dish Keşkek. You should look it up.] Halise is keeping dinner on hold for Yahya to return. He may have good news. Good news, Sancar asks? Halise motions in Elvan’s direction. Elvan says mentions trouble conceiving. She went to a doctor with Yahya. They are getting results today. The family is optimistic and Sancar says he hopes to be an uncle soon. Ojala/Inshallah. Yahya somberly returns with the news—hes’ ok but the problem is Elvan. Sad news for the family and Elvan is devastated. [notice Sancar is not pleased how Yahya treats Elvan.] End flashback.
dondi356
Yes, this is true, Elvan says, you never used this against me, not now not then. Elvan’s argument is derailed. Halise has been watching this. Yahya drives off.
Meanwhile, Sancar’s still searching. Doesn’t look like he’s doing well, but his perseverance pays off and he sights the yacht! He looks around the boat to figure out his next move.
Elvan speaks with Gediz. She asks Gediz about Yahya. It’s not easy for her to say but, she asks if he can check Yayha’s personal account. She would like Gediz to do something before Sancar finds out. Her BIL has too many other problems to deal with [I’d say so]. Gediz asks what this is about. She’s not sure, but she suspects fraud at work and Menekse knows. Menekse threatens Yahya, and he’s been obeying all her orders, Elvan relates, I asked him about it and he didn’t even deny it.
Gediz thinks back to when he found Yayha and Dudu flirting at the marina. He stares at Elvan with sadness and pity. Why are you looking at me like that, like I’m helpless, she asks? Gediz plays it off as he’s begging her to make some coffee. Elvan smiles, she’s happy to do it for Gediz if he can keep this matter from his best friend and she will throw in a dessert, too. Elvan goes to make coffee.
Gediz makes a quick call to Yayha. Meet me at the new marina and bring Dudu. What’s wrong, Yahya asks, why Dudu? It’s a work matter, meet me in two hours, Gediz replies.
Elvan returns with the coffee. Gediz asks if Sancar has spoken with Kavruk. Elvan says that Sancar hasn’t even come. Gediz is surprised because he left with Nare early this morning. Elvan worries that something might have happened to them. Gediz asks Elvan to call Sancar. His phone is off. Gediz tries Nare.
Kahraman is pacing out on his patio and Ceylan is sitting at a table. A phone rings. Ceylan checks her phone, not it. Checks Kahraman’s phone, not it. Kahraman is annoyed--what phone is ringing? Ceylan remembers the phone in her bag. She tells Kahraman it’s the kidnapped girl’s phone. She doesn’t answer.
Gediz sends a text to Nare. Ceylan says it’s from someone named Gediz. The message says he and Elvan are worried. Kahraman is ticked—are you stupid, he asks Ceylan. You are carrying the phone of someone we kidnapped? You should have thrown it away. Well, you should have told me, she replies. Ha, ha, Kahraman tells her to throw the phone into the sea but don’t let go of it.
Ceylan excuses her lapse by saying she saw a man drown before her eyes. He grabs the phone from her and reads another text from Gediz: “are you with Sancar? You left without telling anyone and we are worried.” Ceylan asks if Kahraman plans to answer. Will you pretend you are Nare? He tells her, we kidnapped a woman and a man drowned. It won’t be long before they start looking for them. We need to buy some time. We need a plan.
Kahraman sends a text to Gediz: “Don’t worry, Sancar and I are fine. We want to be alone today. Talk later.” Gediz thinks back to what he heard earlier—Sancar asking Nare to escape for one day and Sancar’s reluctance to tell him where they were going—maybe I’m kidnapping her.
Gediz tells Elvan they’ve been ditched. They left their daughter and took off. They don’t even care about Kavruk. Elvan can’t believe they would do something like this. She doesn’t like the accusation. Gediz shows Elvan the text. Elvan is shocked. Methinks Gediz is jealous.
Gediz goes to visit Kavruk and walks into another Ayse-Zehra argument. This time it’s about who will feed him soup. Gediz solves it by taking the bowl and telling them he will help Kavruk. He chases everyone out of the room. Halise gives her daughter an icy stare outside the room. Ayse motions to Halise to do something about Zehra but Halise summarily dismisses her.
dondi356
Urban, i dont wear nail polish on my finger nails , but my signature toenail polish color has been metallic blue for years. Then, my daughter gave me a pretty pink shade of polish for my birthday this year called " Telenovela Me All About It . " ha...I put it on a few weeks ago , and now every time i look at my toes , i think of Caray !!!
Gediz gives Kavruk some soup and starts, I was going to ask about the accident but tell me what’s going on here? About what, Kavruk asks? Your fiancée, Gediz says, and Zehra? That’s just Zehra, Kavruk replies. Is it only Zehra or is it something else, Gediz wants to know. Kavruk avoids Gediz’s eyes. Gediz smiles, I knew it. Don’t make fun of me, Kavruk says.
Gediz would like to have a little fun with it but not much. He tells Kavruk, I think Zehra likes you a lot. No, Kavruk replies, she’s like a girl jealous with her toy. Gediz tells him not to say that, there’s always hope. [They cut the scene here. Too bad. Kavruk says in his own poetic way, that neither he nor Gediz should have hope when it comes to Zehra or Nare]
Akin is with up top with the guilty goon and notices the little fishing boat. He asks for binoculars. Sancar has fixed it so it looks like there's a fisherman in a rain coat fishing off the side of the boat.
Song: Efem/My Efe (with English Sub)- Nim Sofyan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYTs5Z3f3SE
This song introduced us to Sancar Efe in the first ep and here it is again. I think it fits our Efe quite well.
Sancar has used the diving equipment and surfaces near the yacht. [if you wonder about this, diving is one of Engin’s hobbies so he knows what he’s doing.] He spots Akin and notices Nare crying at her cabin window. He dives again and wraps the ship’s propeller with a fishing net. Sancar surfaces and throws a line up over the boat rail. He takes off the diving equipment and starts to climb.
The bastard Akin knocks on Nare’s door. She arms herself with a hair dryer [sorry, I laughed here]. He enters and she threatens to hit him with it. He tells her better to use it for her hair and btw, he has everything she will need. There’s a suitcase full of clothes, we can talk later, when you are calm, he says.
Nare wants nothing from him. She doesn’t want to talk to him. You disgust me, she hisses. He informs her they will be here until dark then a helicopter will come for them. He tells her there is no escape. But if you behave, he says, I will consider bringing Melek with us. Nare spits in his eye! Akin gets angry and tells Nare, I’m going to make you pay for everything you did, you will see! He leaves.
Nare goes back into the bathroom. She cries, this can’t be happening, I need help. This can’t be happening. She hears another noise from outside and takes her trusty hair dryer with her.
This time it’s not Akin, it’s Sancar! We are back to the beginning of the legend; the boy has come out of the sea to find the girl as white as cotton standing there.
And we are out.
dondi356
Diana, I may have give you a basic concoction, but your frosting and decorations turned it into an exquisitely delicious feast. I anxiously awaited your masterpiece and you did not disappoint! I savored every word and your thoughts on each of the characters was awe-inspiring. I would have to copy and paste practically every paragraph to capture all the delectable morsels you've added to this treat, but this, amiga, stood out--
Little is as sweet as the promise of love, the enticing allure of joining of hearts and souls, the melding of the physical and the spiritual.
Beautifully written! Your eloquence is unrivaled.
Jarifa, "...it occurred to me that I really didn't care about Pedro and Vera as I should have. They remained somehow cardboard cutouts." Thank you! you captured my thoughts about these two characters succinctly and perfectly!
"Fausto, sporting a beard of blood" I agree with Jarifa that the fight scenes were realistic, but, by golly, couldn't Fausto have swiped off some of that blood? It was very distracting! I wanted to reach into the TV and give him a tissue LOL
Urban, (regarding Ivana) "The close-up of her hand on the gun was quite telling. He long white nails were like claws." That really caught my eye too, but leave it to you to mention Disgrace's similar claws! Great memory!
Susanlynn, " I would have liked to find out more about the dynamic between Alma, Ivana, and Olmo from the start." That would have added so much to the story; I was disappointed that we never found out how Alma died.
Fe, "Olmo had the redeeming quality of love for his family, as his actions saved Marina’s life while Fausto planned to kill Vera." Well stated! Did I note some hesitation from Fausto when he was about to shoot Marina? It seemed to me that was the moment Olmo took to push Ivana and then Marina out of harm's way. It seemed odd to me that Fausto would hesitate since he showed absolutely no hesitation in kicking the chair out from under his own daughter.
So Melida got herself and Gaston off the hook; although Gaston never really did anyting illegal (that I can think of). Oh well, minor detail compared to everything else.
The wedding was lovely, but(IMO) it was overshadowed by the other couples--Eddy/Faby, Teo/Gonzo, and Octavio/Emilia--the ones I had been rooting for!
I'm so glad this is over! But I do hope to see everyone in another patio :-)
Diana and Chickie... Loved the quotes you gave us...a cherry on top of your always tasty recaps. I collect quotes , and i copied several into my quote journal. Thanks so much for sharing these gems with us.
Dondi356, I was hoping I could thank you for the recap of the finale but I am oh so late! Let me just say that, while the episode was excellent, your recap made it even more savory…and the same goes for last night’s episode. Thank you! Thank you, dondi356! I can always count on your detailed recaps to clear some things up and this was no exception!
Like Niecie, I anticipated that Sancar would survive; I was just wondering how. Now about the gran estreno—
Sancar’s life with Nare and Melek rewinds in his head all the way back to the beginning.I thought this was uniquely and expertly done. Bravo to the writers and directors!
Akin gets up but Nare knocks him back down and starts pummeling him in the face! You’d think he could handle her, but he takes a beating. As Mark Twain said, It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. [Raise your hand if you enjoyed this.] I am raising both hands!! And thank you for that quote from Mark Twain :-)
She tells Akin she won’t be part of his game, she will not become a murderer, and today her daughter’s father will not die. Okay this really confused me! Did I hear/interpret wrong? Was Nare saying that Akin is Melek’s father??? Please, tell me I’m wrong!
Melek tells him. What is that? If he divorces Menekse, I will forgive him. She continues, it’s so my mom will forgive him, too. Then she would be the only one in his life. The baby would stay with us and we would be a family of four. Out of the mouths of babes! Such a simple solution to all the chaos! But that would cut the second season to practically nothing LOL
Ayse and Zehra are fighting over how to take care of Kavruk. Kavruk groans, they are torturing the poor guy. This was hilarious; I was hoping Kavruk would get fed up and tell Ayse to leave.
She tells him she wants him to take responsibility for his mistake. [in the original she wanted him to admit his flaw.] He counters, I never used your mistake [flaw] against you. Thank you for clarifying what the original actually had; I was ready to rake Yahya over the coals (once again) for throwing Elvan’s infertility at her face.
The bastard Akin knocks on Nare’s door. She arms herself with a hair dryer [sorry, I laughed here]. I laughed too! Was she going to dry him to death?? Now had it been a flame thrower…that would have been ideal! LOL
RgvChick, your lovely words were so touching and greatly appreciated. None of this would have been possible without you. Truly.
Despite the grimness and cruelty throughout, I did feel love was an overarching theme. The instantaneous realization that Eddy and Faby were meant to be. An initial attraction between Teo and Gonzo, growing, thriving and developing into love and commitment. The unlikely but perfect pairing of Emilia and Octavio. The dawning of Gaston's realization that love has been there the entire time, he needed only to open his eyes and heart to see it.
Life doesn't always offer us choices, but whom we love, whom we choose to love, is a glorious one.
Diana
Jarifa and SpanProf, I have to admit I feel a bit of sympathy for Ricardo. He has been through the mill and is trying to be a better person (I think).
Patricia is so evil and compounds the damage by lie after lie.
I'm not sure how Ricardo isn't holding onto the beautiful doctora for dear life but...
Valentina just got the shock of her life.
Claudio is sweet and cute but the character has no sex appeal (unlike the actor). I'd be hard pressed to choose...
Diana
Diana, I think that Ricardo is much cuter than Claudio, too. So far, it seems that Ricardo wants to find Valentina only to get his hands on the joint account he had set up with the money he stole from his father. He did all he could at the bank get his hands on the account but was told by the banker that it was a no-go without the long lost girlfriend.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to read and comment.
Susanlynn, the only thing that keeps Nare and Sancar from mutually assured destruction is Melek. They do their best to consider her and protect her, but…
Niecie and Rgv Chick, pretty much a given that Sancar would survive and the how was the cliffhanger. When this originally aired, some viewers worried about Sancar because in Turkey they have a bad habit of abruptly cancelling shows. The ratings were good so Sancar was saved.
Nina, a very sour pickle, indeed. I get that the heart wants what it wants but, there’s a ‘bro code’ on this and Gediz is tempting fate.
Rgv Chick alerted me to a point that needs clarification:
“She tells Akin she won’t be part of his game, she will not become a murderer, and today her daughter’s father will not die. Okay this really confused me! Did I hear/interpret wrong? Was Nare saying that Akin is Melek’s father??? Please, tell me I’m wrong!”
My apologies to the Embajador followers. This was much clearer in the Turkish-English. Nare definitely meant Sancar as her daughter’s father and I meant to put it in parentheses. Should have proofed better.
I think Ayse-Zehra is hilarious, too. Kavruk is in the middle of a mess.
I feel awful each time someone reminds Elvan of her infertility. The look on her face.
I was disappointed Kahraman didn’t break another string of beads when Ceylan produced Nare’s phone.
Kinda ticked at Nare. She stopped Sancar from killing Akin, did she expect Akin to call it even and go away? Sancar warned her, he wanted her close for her protection, ok maybe other reasons too, but she felt controlled.
I can’t picture Gediz making such a daring rescue of Nare. He wouldn’t even survive jumping off the dock.
dondi356
WOW THE insanity of these two men was mine numming. They hated each other and they wanted their kids in
The swamp with them. Rather they wanted to be there are not. That is
When it got sick and twisted. Case In Point: fausto wanted vera his daughter to hang herself, what's up with that? And that lame reason he gave for killing her mother. So she
Would help him bring down his enemy
. And when he heard that Jacinto was dead he had the nerve to act as
If he cared, he clearly didn't. Yes
There is a special place in hell for him. And that padre preaching Jacinto into heaven. Bad choices have consequences.
I didnt feel sorry for Olmo when he was dyin & asking for his children.
I dont think pedro said he forgave him he just bit his bottom lip.
Before I knew what vera was saying when she went over to fausto after
Ivana shot him I thought she was begging him not die, and she was just not the reason that one would normally do it. She wanted his sick ass to pay for shooting her mother.
And they both died with there eyes open. These two men play old
Crazy geezers really well. They should get awards.
Evilvana(Ivana) seemed to have regrets but to little to late. But she did seem glad that faby was in a good school and is doing very well, without her. It seems all the bad guys got their due.
All the good guys got their due also. Couple(s) reunited. Theres joy in the city once more. The main
Co UO please came together.
I just didnt get that umf with this
Couple. Someone said it seemed more like a story about Olmo n fausto trying to one up the other than it did vera n pedro. Well everybody got theirs.
Thank you RgvChick and Diana. You guys are the recapping duo. And you are very good at it. You guys are so phenomenal. Thank you so much for keeping g us entertaoned.
Thanks Jarifa. I did understand some of the banking dilemma but thought Ricardo did genuinely care for Valentina at least a little. Thank you for letting me know.
Guess this will derail Val and Claudio for a while :)
Diana
Nina, thank you. So happy you went along for this ride!
And I think you were exactly right. Pedro did not forgive Olmo. Nor should he have.
Fausto didn't give a damn about Jacinto - all crocodile tears and emotions. Over the years TNs have had many reprehensible parents but I think Fausto was the worst.
Both Cantu and Barreto were fabulous. But so was del Olmo whose stint as Ivana was one for the record books.
Diana
I could have sworn I saw Edson at the wedding when they panned over the guests as Vera and Pedro were dancing.
Dondi, thank you so much for every detail of this tense episode .p
Oh my, how are the starcrossed lovers going to get out of th is mess !m
I am sure that San is sorry now that he didnt kill Akin.
Nare was foolish not to stay close to San witb Akin still around to endanger them .
I am wondering if Yahya lied and said that Elvan is infertile when it is actually Yahya who is sterile. He os such a weasel.
I am still hoping that Loki is the father of Meanies baby . Those two deserve each other .
I wonder how this tale will progress with some changes coming.
oh, dondi356, what a relief! I am so glad we have you to set things straight when the dubbers mess things up. Anyone else who saw that scene and doesn’t have such a resourceful person to go to will now be so confused and think that Akin is the father.
Dond this was great. Than km for the recap of love.
These two people are so in love they are annoying each other. Kme day they shall get it right. Soon.
I'm done with kahraman. Hes a troll
A stupid little troll.
Why didnt somebody steal menekse? O
Thats right nobody wants her, but Loki. He don't deserve that either.
Ok now nare needs to forgive sancar
Cuz he swam waaay out there with a
Bullet hole in his arm with a fever
To save her petite but. Say his name put him out of his misery. But
Iam starting t ol see a reason for the madness. She suffered for 8 yrs
Cuz he wouldnt didnt believe her.
Yeah that's fair, make him suffer. But not to long,he's a great catch.
And hes one of the best galan I've seen in years. He took a bullet for you girl(are you watching pedro?).
That ship has sailed.akin is the sorriest rapest I ever seen. I was really enjoying that beat down she putting Him. And he was just taking it. He can take a beating. And the
Goons, where did kahraman find them
At goons are us? They are so nice.
This is the funniest kidnapping Ive see......ever. they akin looking like an idiot. In the beginning he was evil and mean, now he's just stupid.
They should let elvan beat the crap out of him. She been is so nice. What wrong with yahya? Oyeah.... he stupid.
Ok this was great Dondi.
I'll comment on tonights episode tomorrow.
Dryed up.
Hey did anybody notice gediz's new pastel suit? Hes all sonny Crockett
Miami vicing all over the place. He loves american culture.
I can't see him jumping in the ocean to go after nare. He needs somebody to save so he can be a hero.
When I pushed the publish key.
After Amor Eterno I wasn’t going to watch this TN so I was a little late to the patio. It was your recaps Dondi that drew me into this one! You are an amazing help! Thank you so much for all your work!
Knowing how sneaky Meanie is (love that nickname) could this pregnancy be concocted by she & her mom to help her position? Has it all been a performance right down to the “dr” & the Ultrasound machine? No spoiler, just a thought. The actress is very good at making you snarl each time she’s on screen.
And add me to the list of folks who thought for sure Melek was going to ask the dog to get in K’s car with her,
SaraAnne
Doubts being sown all over! Oh, no!
Valentina needs to decisively kick Ricardo to the curb and remember he ABANDONED her and got on that plane with papi.
Nora didn't take long to get frisky with Leonardo. Will she be modeling maternity clothes?
I absolutely loved Horacio’s hidden room. Too bad he cannot take advantage of the wealth in that room and is still being controlled by his dead daddy.
Thanks Jarifa!
Valentina remembered things as they were and I credit her for picking Claudio - and so quickly.
I liked that she put all the materials in her office in order so quickly.
Majo is a sweetheart and Helena is lucky to have her as a friend. She instantly knew what was up with Nora and Leonardo. A pair of serpents :)
Did Helena's father call her an assassin? I missed most of this early on but would imagine that is the source of their estrangement.
Horacio's hidden room was fascinating.
Diana
WELCOME, SARAANNE!! It's never too late to join the patio; glad to have you with us...the more, the merrier :-)
ITA that dondi356 is amazing and of great help. And I'm still hoping that the dog resurfaces! I think Melek needs a dog LOL
dondi356, I am patiently waiting for your reacp, but I just couldn't wait to make just a couple of comments--
I hope Gediz beats the daylights out of Yahya; he didn't do what they think, but he still deservs a good ass whipping!
And what's up with Gediz asking Loki to join them? Is Loki now going to be their little minion?
SpanProf, thanks for noting it has not yet been shown whose death Helena caused.
I also wondered what the heck those pictures were! I'm sure we will find out sooner or later.
Helena is multi-dimensional and although she has a rather hard shell, like that she isn't all sweetness and light.
Diana
Yes Nare, it’s not a dream, not a ghost, it’s Sancar. She stands in shock holding the hair dryer. Were you going to hit me, Sancar asks? She makes a gasping cry, you’re alive…you’re alive! I knew it. She runs into his arms. Flashback to the little kids on the beach. I’m here, he tells her. She jumps up and wraps her legs around him and showers him with little kisses on his neck and face. I was scared, she says, you don’t know how scared I was.
This lovely scene goes on until Sancar can’t hold her anymore. He falls back against the wall. She notices his wound. He tells her he’s fine and he becomes alarmed, did Akin do anything to you? Are you hurt? No, she’s fine but now she is very concerned about Sancar. She thinks he has a high fever. He doesn’t think so [meaning it’s just the effect she has on him]. As soon as we get out of here, Nare says, I’ll take you to the hospital. He’s not really listening, he’s just gazing at her.
She asks, how will we get out of here? He’s thinking… he needs to clear his mind first. It’s because of your wound, she worries, you’re not well. What if there is an infection? What do I do? He does not take his eyes off her and answers, it is not my wound, it is my love. My love and my wound [both refer to her], he tells her, they are both very strong. He asks her for some space to think. Then he asks her, do you know how to get off this boat? He passes out.
Big guy makes a big noise hitting the deck. Akin wonders what that noise was. He sends that guilty goon down to check it out. Nare’s got to think fast. There’s a knock at her door. Ms. Nare? Are you okay? What was that noise? He starts to open the door. Nare peeks around the door with a towel wrapped around her hair. I was taking a shower, she explains, I fell but I’m fine. Don’t come in, please. The goon looks embarrassed and apologizes, we just wanted to know if you were alright. So now you care, she asks? And she closes the door.
Nare drags Sancar to the bathroom and props him up against the wall. She searches for a first aid kit and prepares to take the bullet out of his arm with a knife she found in his pocket. She goes in, he lets out a groan and she covers his mouth with her hand. She tells him she has to do this and it’s going to hurt. He understands. She gives him an antibiotic and is ready to start again.
He stops her and asks, Nare, say my name, break your vow. She looks at him, says nothing, puts her hand over his mouth and gets to work. The bullet is out and Nare tells him, “Ben sana canımı veririm, adını asla” – translation: I will give you my life (soul), never your name. He passes out again.
Gediz walks out on the marina terrace with Yahya and Dudu and tells them to sit. He takes a few seconds to ready himself then tells Yahya, your wife says you’re doing something here. And you don’t trust me, Yahya asks? No, not that, Gediz replies, but I think I know what you are doing at work. Gediz looks over at Dudu. Dudu is taken by surprise….but… because? Gediz tells her it’s not his intention to offend.
He gets to the point. He tells Yahya that he will be the general director of this (new) marina. He’s doing it so he won’t be at the other. As for Dudu he is firing her. She can work two more weeks at the other marina, while she looks for another job. Dudu can’t believe this. You give Yahya a promotion and you fire me? That’s not fair! Gediz knows, but life is not fair, and now Dudu knows that, too. He tells her maybe she will think better before flirting with socios.
dondi356
Dudu stares at Yahya. The coward avoids her gaze. You are the one who cheated on your wife, she says angrily. Yahya says nothing and this further angers Dudu. No answer? What will happen if I tell your beloved everything that happened? Gediz says he doesn’t know what Yahya thinks and Elvan isn’t his beloved, but I don’t want him involved with you. If you don’t want a problem with me, he tells Dudu, accept this and leave, it’s over. Yahya remains silent and Dudu stares at him in disbelief.
Dudu leaves and walks right past Kahraman, who has been standing by the door listening. Yahya thinks Gediz was very unfair with Dudu. Nothing happened between us, he says. And what about Elvan, Gediz asks? Yahya says Gediz doesn’t know Elvan, she gets strange ideas and imagines things. Gediz is not buying it. Then why is Menekse threatening you, he asks? Why do you listen to her? You fired Loki just because Menekse asked? Why? Gediz asks the question, did you cheat on your wife, or did you steal from the business? Which one? Kahraman’s eyes pop, the wheels turn in his head.
Yahya takes umbrage and jumps up. it’s nothing like that! I’ve never done anything behind anyone’s back! I’ve done nothing to my wife or Sancar! Gediz stops Yahya from leaving. Really? Didn’t you free the men who attacked Nare? Isn’t that something against Sancar, Gediz asks? Yahya admits that was a mistake on his part, but… Gediz asks again, were you bored with your marriage and have an affair, or did you steal from your brother? Which one?
This is all Kahraman needs to know to get himself out of his mess. He will pin this on Yahya. He says to himself, that’s why you got rid of your brother or maybe you decided to kidnap Nare. He calls Akin. I need a favor. Sure, Akin says, is it the money? I’ll transfer it. You owe me, Kahraman reminds him, but this is what I want you to do. We don’t hear the rest of the convo.
Elvan and Loki show up on the marina terrace. She makes a beeline for Gediz. Give me your phone, now, now, now, she demands. What? Why? She launches into an explanation—you were blinded by jealousy and did not notice, and I was very stupid for not noticing either. Show me that message, the one Nare sent you. Gediz still doesn’t understand.
Elvan lays it out for him: Kavruk crashed and Akin disappeared. Do you really think Sancar would not visit Kavruk and go off with a woman? Would Nare leave her daughter and go on a honeymoon with a man with whom she fights for custody? She grabs Gediz’ phone. And look, she wrote the name of the person she swore she would never mention again.
Gediz takes the phone back and reads: “Don’t worry, Sancar and I are fine. We want to be alone….” Elvan says Nare wouldn’t break this promise. She would not write or say Sancar’s name. Elvan is certain Nare did not send that message and something bad must have happened to them. Gediz asks Yahya and Loki to come with him. Elvan follows.
They bust into Kahraman’s office. Gediz leans over the desk and gets in Kahraman’s face. Where is Nare? Kahraman jokes about it. Gediz is not in the mood. Akin is gone, Sancar and Nare are missing. You sent a message from Nare’s phone, he accuses. Where are they?
Kahraman is indignant, I know nothing about Akin and nothing about Sancar either. Now you ask me about Nare? Do I look like a detective? Kahraman continues, why would I take Akin? To adopt him? I don’t even know him [liar, liar]. Gediz asks, have you heard the phrase, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”? He gives Kahraman his reasoning—Sancar came and took your place and it bothered you. You took Akin for the money. Did I figure it out?
dondi356
Ok, let’s see, says Kahraman. He opens his account on his phone. Check it, he says to Gediz, do you think it would look like this if I took money? Yahya says it could have been cash.
Kahraman tries another angle. Ok, I kidnapped Akin and Sancar. Everyone knows I hate him, right? But why would I take Nare? She is the only decent person among you. Her father is looking for money in Japan for me. Why would I kidnap her? Why would I turn her father against me? Maybe you didn’t want to wait for Nare’s father, Yahya opines.
No, Kahraman says, if Nare and Sancar have disappeared, we must find them. Or at least find Nare. I can help you, he tells them. I’m telling you, you are looking in the wrong place. Think about it, Kahraman asks, who would benefit from Nare’s disappearance?
Elvan comes up with an obvious choice—Menekse! Loki adds, she might get rid of Nare, but how could she do anything to Sancar without anyone noticing? Right, says Gediz, she couldn’t do this alone. Kahraman’s plan is working. Gediz and Elvan turn their eyes on a very nervous Yahya. What? Why are you looking at me? Elvan accuses Yahya of doing Meanie’s bidding and hurting Sancar. Yahya denies and defends, how could you think I would do something like that to my own brother? Elvan reminds him that he brought Melek to the mansion so Meanie could torture her.
Gediz demands that Yahya show his bank account if he has nothing to do with this. Yahya can’t believe this is happening. They are ganging up on him and treating him like an enemy. He asks Elvan not to do this to him. Elvan doesn’t trust him anymore. She grabs his phone and opens it. She hands it to Gediz and he opens the account. Yahya tells Elvan she will regret this. You’re right, Yahya, Elvan tells him, I regret many things.
We get the account detail: two million has been moved into Yahya’s account. You sold out cheaply, Gediz tells him, here’s two million from the account of Akin Baydar. Yahya is floored. He grabs his phone and scrolls through the account. Elvan falls to her knees. Kahraman’s plan has worked—Cain killed Abel, he says, isn’t it so?
Sancar wakes up on Nare’s shoulder. He smiles at her. How are you, she asks him, does it still hurt? He just wants to gaze at his beloved. But then he realizes their surroundings and asks, what happened? Did the engine start? No, we are still waiting. He pulls himself up and goes to the cabin window. It’s dark, they will start the engine soon to enter Greek waters.
Sancar is still feeling a bit woozy and Nare is worried. You’re not ok yet, I don’t want you to get worse, she tells him. No, he replies, I’m going to save you first, then it can get worse. Sancar remembers telling her if you leave, I will become a very bad man. Now he asks her, when we get out of here, will you stay with me? He’s hopeful until she shakes her head, no. You will leave? She nods, yes.
Ok, then, I’m going to be a bad man again, he tells her and goes back into the bathroom to retrieve his knife. What does that mean, Nare asks? I can’t leave you alone in a world where Akin is alive…but if he dies… Stop, Nare says. You’re not going to kill Akin, you will not be a murderer. She tells Sancar she could have killed Akin, but she didn’t. She doesn’t want Sancar’s hands to touch Akin’s blood.
He drops the knife and takes her face in his hands, swear you will not go to Switzerland. Say that you will stay. Swear, she asks? You want me to make a promise like you did, she answers. A tear falls from Sancar’s eye.
dondi356
Flashback to young Sancar telling her he will buy Gece (the black horse, Night) and the mansion. The ambassador’s daughter will come to the mansion on Gece.
Tell me something, she asks, it’s ridiculous, I know… we are in the middle of the sea, surrounded by guards and we are great danger. But if I don’t ask now, I might not dare later. Tell me if… your wife has ridden on Gece. She’s clearly afraid his answer will be another betrayal. Sancar recalls…
Another flashback. Halise and Elvan come to Sancar at the stable. Halise tells her son she intends to marry him off. What? Elvan speaks up, mother, this is my fault. Don’t condemn Sancar because I can’t have children. Sancar turns to Elvan and says, it’s not a defect. A woman who can’t have children is not bad. He turns to his mother, what are you saying? You heard, Halise answers, I am going to find you a wife.
Sancar objects and he’s told her this before. Yes, she knows, he’s not getting married. Halise continues, but you also told me if I wanted the family to grow, get Yahya to marry. We thought it was resolved but Elvan is sterile. He warns his mother to watch her words; she’s making Elvan sad and making him crazy.
Halise will not be deterred. You will marry and make the family grow, she says. Sancar is firm in his position, too. She tells her son to behave like a man and end the legend that haunts him. She threatens him, do it or I won’t give you my blessing [no helal olsun—meaning she wll never forgive him]. That’s her final word. Elvan and Sancar feel awful. Sancar turns to Gece, don’t worry, whether or not I have her blessing, no one else will ride you. End flashback.
Sancar assures Nare with a loving smile, Gece will never belong to another. Tears of relief. The engine starts up. Is the boat going, Nare asks? No, Sancar replies, we are going, but the boat—it stays. He gives Nare a big grin and she smiles back. [They are a supercouple for sure. If they would only get past their ish, they could conquer the world together.]
The boat isn’t moving and Akin asks the captain for an explanation. Seems the propeller is stuck. A crewman reports that a fishing net got tangled. Akin thinks a net must be from the nearby fishing boat.
Sancar and Nare make their way out of the cabin and sneak to the back of the boat. He tells Nare to take off her shoes and slip into the water. He points out the fishing boat and tells her to swim to it. When she gets on board, she should start the engine and go. He tells her he jammed the propeller of the yacht and they won’t be able to follow her. But… are you coming, she asks? No, he’s going to stay here while she swims to the boat. Nare refuses to go without him. He implores her to go. He will take care of Akin and catch up later.
Nare tells him she won’t allow him to sacrifice himself again. Sancar is desperate, please let me help you get away from here. Nare is adamant, I will not let you become a murderer or let you sacrifice yourself. Let’s go together. Sancar pleads with her, if you are not here, life is worth nothing. Nare threatens to scream and blow the whole escape. She tells him if you are not here, my life is worth nothing as well. Choose, she says, which life is over?
Akin takes the binoculars and looks at the fishing boat. The dummy that Sancar set up falls over and Akin realizes—Sancar is not dead. Sancar! Akin grabs a gun and heads to the back of the boat with his goons following.
dondi356
Akin points at Sancar and gets ready to shoot. At the last second Nare steps in front and takes the bullet. Akin is in shock and Sancar is horrified. Nare falls into the water. Akin raises the gun to shoot again, but the guilt-ridden goon smashes him over the head and knocks him out.

Sancar grabs a flashlight and jumps into the water to rescue Nare. The goons start shooting but the guilty one stops them saying, they have a daughter. Sancar swims away with Nare.
Gediz arrives home with Yahya, Elvan and Loki. Muge comes out, what happened? Gediz tells her to prepare the guest house, we are going to have another guest. Yahya gets out of the car and explains, I delivered Nare and Sancar to Akin and your brother and my wife want to torture me. Gediz tells him to shut up. Yahya says they are wasting their time, it wasn’t him and if something happens to Sancar, it will be Gediz’ fault. Muge comforts a distraught Elvan and Loki waits by the car.
Sancar has made it to the boat and they climb on board. He kneels over her. Nare, everything will be okay. Stay calm. He strips off his shirt and presses it over her wound. He starts the engine and fixes wheel so it will head back to shore.
Kahraman and Ceylan are getting ready for bed when he gets a call. Sancar has saved Nare. Ceylan tries to hide her pleasure on hearing the news. Kahraman needs to make sure his ass is covered.
Sancar tells Nare to hang on, it won’t take more than an hour to get back to shore. He tells her he’s okay and she will be fine, too. He tries desperately to keep her awake. Talk to me, keep your eyes open… I forbid you to close your eyes! She opens her eyes and whispers, even now you give me orders… That’s right, he tells her, we will wait until we arrive home and then let’s see who gives the real orders.
Stay awake, don’t fall asleep, he continues to plead, and tell me how I will have to pay for this. You too, she replies. Will you hold me responsible for sacrificing yourself for me, he asks, or that you had wanted to commit suicide? Dying was not what I had in mind, she answers.
You thought about it, Sancar reminds her, on the cliff—and then then you brought me Melek and you went up there again. I was with Menekse, and you hurt your hands. Now they wanted to shoot me and you stood in front. You have always sacrificed yourself for me.
Yes, I did it, she responds, and you…you did it, too. What a great couple we are… we are a couple of fools. She smiles at him. He cries as they continue towards shore.
And we are out.

Hoşgeldin, SaraAnne. Welcome to the patio. Thank you for your kind words. Glad you found the recaps helpful. I’ll never get over Amor Eterno, but I keep getting drawn into the Turkish shows through the fascinating culture, intriguing storylines and fabulous actors. Or maybe I’m a glutton for punishment. I hope you keep watching and commenting.
Rgv Chick, I felt like “spoiling” my own recap last night. When things are hopping, I can hardly wait to get that post up.
dondi356
dondi356, the wait was well worth it, excellent recap, thank you! And your sides, as always, were perfect, especially " [They are a supercouple for sure. If they would only get past their ish, they could conquer the world together.]" It's not often that I haven rooted for a main couple, but, yes, these two are tremendous together.
I have to admit that the troll (Kahraman) has brains. He was quick on his feet when he found Melek and now, within seconds, he came up with a plan to veer suspicion away from himself. How convenient that he was at the right spot at the right moment and heard exaclty what he neded to hear. Beanie moment?
WOW DONDI, this was phenomena. What
A great love story. The turkish people can really crank them,I just
Hope is not ruined like Amor ETERNO
I lived watch ok ng that one and then it went to hell with the hero
Dying with that horrible man that made their lives a living hell. This one has that to but akin is more like an idiot im instead of just plain evil like emir.
Sancar must have been in A lot of pain swimming all the way to the yacht with the bleed wound and the fever, and it probly was infected.
And now he still has that fever. A cold makes you feel bad but the fever is the worst. But he has a bullet hole. Hit they both will be ok like san said.
Yahya didnt do what he is being accused of but he is guilty of bein
A Jerk to his wife listening to his
Evil cruel momma and kickin his wife out cuz she dared to stand up to her evil wicked plan to get rid of nare by testifying in Public against her evil self. I dont why they have to do what she says, they
Are grown men they don't need her permittion to marry or not. And I hated seeing her treat elvan like all she is good for is grow the Efe
Family. They don't need anymore genes from the Efe family.
That was kinda unfair what gediz did to dudu. Why does she get fired and yahya gets permoted? Thats Good question. Like she said he cheated on his wife. They didnt really do anything just flirted with it. Well
She should just stay away from men that are married on the job. There never gonna blame the man.
To night they get rescued according
To the preview.
Thank you Dondi356. Love your recap
Thanks a bunch, Dondi. The action is
so intense that I can't stand it -- but all in a good way. So Nare was asking Sancar if he'd let Meanie ride Gece? Wow. But the fact he didn't shows he stayed true to Nare in a way.
Maybe Karahman's girlfriend will secretly aid Nare and Sancar. Karahman doesn't give her her place as his woman and she's clearly smitten with Sancar and Nare's love story.
I agree with all who say Yahya is lying liar lying about Elvan being infertile.
Not fair that Gediz fired Dudu, but I did enjoying her seeing her married Prince Charming would do nada to help her.
I think they should give awards to the recappers at the PREMIOS TVyNovelas ( though i’m not so sure they are even doing those award shows anymore. Maybe i have just missed them or maybe Univision doesnt make it available to US audiences??)
In any case, I nominate Dondi356 and RgvChick as the winners!! You are amazing. And i so look forward to the great commentary every night as well!
So i need clarification on why the 2 million showed up in Yaya’s phone. How or why? Maybe i missed something important.
I am also amazed at how these grown men have to do what their Mom asks. Is this an old Turkish custom or is this just the total power-hungry Halise being obnoxious and intolerable?
I think this is one of the most “cliff-hanging” TNs i have ever seen! I go crazy when this ends every night, thinking i have to wait until 10pm EST the next night!! It is really captivating.
I agree with whoever has said that that Elvan is such a great character- so unusual and intriguing.
Someone needs to do serious damage to Meanie and soon!!! I cant handle seeing weeks and weeks more of her not enduring some super bad occurrence .
AMOT
Thanks for that explanation, Niecie. I kind of thought that but Yaya is just so NOT-forthcoming with anything, its hard to figure out sometimes. He is such an unlikeable character, at least up to this point.
That Kahramen sure thinks quickly and around the corners. He’d be a great sidekick for some corrupt politician!
