Here's a translation of part of Telemundo's synopsis: Hercai: Love and Vengeance takes place in the ancient Turkish city of Midyat. It tells the story of Reyyan Sadoglu and Miran Aslanbey, an impossible love born from revenge and betrayal. Reyyan is the granddaughter of the Sadoglu family, one of the most powerful in the city. She is mistreated by her grandfather Nasuh, who is the family's true leader. As a result, Reyyan looks for a means to get away at any cost. When she goes horseback riding, Reyyan meets Miran, since his car scares her horse and Reyyan falls to the ground. When Miran approaches her to help her, she ends up madly in love with him, and she accepts his marriage proposal without imagining that its motivation is revenge.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.

CAFE (Adriana Noel here)

So, I've tried to do the recap all morning. First the video worked badly, due to a slow Internet connection. Then I couldn't watch it at all, because of copyright laws (the "video restricted in your area" type of thing). Gave it a moment, tried to find another link...
Long story short, I gave up. Sorry, but between the lack of interest and the difficulty in recapping, I'm afraid I have to give this up, at least for now. I will try to continue watching, if my site is back and running or if I find another link.

I was looking forward to getting into a new Telemundo show. I guess this was not meant to be it.

HERC

Good Morning, HERC patio!!

First and foremost, thank you Novelera and Juanita for your wonderful and helpful recaps. I've watched the first three episodes and once again, the Turks have hooked me with what looks to be a wonderfully produced TN and the cinematography is amazing; the Mexican producers should take lessons. I just hope that the dubbing (translation) is better for this than it is for "La Hija del Embajador" because there have been some very frustrating moments due to translation errors. And dondi356, though the songs Telemundo replaced for the Turkish songs are very nice and appropriate, I would have preferred that they kept the original soundtracks (I know you would provide us with links to the translation of the songs). I'm watching this a day after (or more sometimes), so I might not be commenting as much as I would like to, but do know that I depend on your recaps and comments to clarify any dialogue or storylines...and I appreciate all your hard work and dedication.

From what I gather from reading comments on the "Monday" page, I am not alone in being totally confused with the families. And cousins marrying cousins makes it even worse.

Here we have another horrible, heartless matriarch who is deciding who should marry whom. Azize is hateful; and I agree with others who think that she is not being honest about what really happened to Miran's parents. There must be some other reason that Azize wants revenge...could it be that she is a woman scorned?

Yaran is totally hateful too. Her brother, Azat, will make problems, but at least he is capable of loving, something that Yaran is incapable of (from what I have seen).

Gul is the highlight of the show. I'm going to look forward to her scenes. She was so cute when Miran asked how much he should pay for the dowry. I like her honesty and assertiveness...out of the mouths of babes :-)

I see that VVS will again be joining as a recapper and will be looking forward to those recaps. I got to read some of the recaps for "Loli" and was very impressed with this amazing "newbie recapper." And I see that dondi356 will also be on the team...YAY!

Thank you awesome recapping team!. And thank you for adding so much with your comments.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza -Episode #3
Part 1

Here is a quick recap of last night’s episode: (I don’t think we had anyone scheduled to recap)

Nasuh makes his demand/request to have Miran give Gonul to Azat. Hazar and all the guests are stunned by the request. Miran does not answer at first, but then says that he will not bargain for his happiness and marriage. Apparently, this was a huge breach of etiquette for Nasuh to do this and Miran’s response was meant to shut the old tyrant down and humiliate him. Miran asks Hazar if the wedding can continue. The music and dancing begin.

There was a lot to see during the wedding and many of the customs I don’t understand but it was beautiful to watch.

Bad Granny Azize is sitting in a car asking for updates from Miran’s friend, (sorry don’t know his name just yet). He verifies that the wedding is going well and does tell her about the inappropriate request Nasuh made of Miran asking for Gonul to marry off to Azat. Azize is furious and wants to kick some Nasuh butt immediately. (I think there is more to the venganza regarding a potential former relationship between Granny and the tyrant. Just speculation on my part). Miran’s friend tells her to go back to the hotel as she should not be seen, he will keep her informed.

Yaren is miserable and leaves the wedding to cry inside. Of course, Gonul is also miserable. She wants to stop the wedding as her mother pulls her over to a quiet spot conveniently under a window where Yaren is sitting. She overhears the two talk about the venganza and how Gonul just has to wait one more night for all this to be over. (Is the plan to kill Reyyan?). Instead of telling someone of the nasty plan, Yaren thanks her lucky stars that Reyyan will be gone and she can step in her place! She rushes to get ready and then ends up dancing the night away bumping into Miran’s friend, who clearly likes her. She brushes him off but drops a piece of jewelry. He picks it up.

There are more beautiful wedding festivities with the final being Reyyan and Miran accepting gift from all the guest. The last gift is given by Gonul who looks absolutely miserable. It is a necklace for Reyyan and Miran offers to help put it around her neck but Gonul manages (without straggling Reyyan) and then hugs Miran, whispering loudly that she is his wife!

Azat is in a car drunk and angry, with a handgun. He cries and yells that he will stop Reyyan from leaving with Miran! Back at the wedding Hazar tells Miran that now they are father and son, they should dance. Miran can barely control his repressed anger but calls Hazar, papa and they dance.

Yaren has finally done something nice and agreed to take Gul to find a red balloon. She encounters Miran’s friend who gives her the eye and her bracelet back. The adorable Gul looks on. On the street outside the mansion, a drunk Azat has arrived and Miran’s friend is trying to keep him from coming into the wedding making a scandal. Miran see him and also heads out to confront Azat.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza -Episode #3
Part 2

The scuffle ensues and soon Hazar and Reyyan are involved, Azat is screaming that Miran is not who they think he is. (What does he know?). Hazar begs Miran to take Reyyan and just leave the wedding. Miran grabs Reyyan and escorts her to the car. Yaren leaves Gul and her red balloon out on the street, running in to get her father.

As Miran begins to drive off, Azat pulls out the handgun and tries to fire, Miran’s friend also takes out a pistol and aims it at Azat. In the fight to get the gun away from Azat several shots are fired and Miran’s friend (I also think he fired his pistol) watches the red balloon Gul as holding go up into the night. Tragically, Gul has been shot by a stray bullet. I am not convinced it was from Azat’s gun, but none the less, quite the tragedy.

Gul is rushed to the hospital with a head injury, she tells he father she cannot move. (Oh dear). There is a lot of anguish and Zehra tells Azat’s parents off about how awful their two children are and she wants them to stay away from her girls! Gul has to have surgery and is of course muy grave. Even Grampa Tyrant is sad.

Miran and Reyyan are driving down a dark road. She is trying to apologize for her cousin and he is thinking that Reyyan is innocent of what happened to his parents, but then he touches the necklace with his mother ring and thinks about the venom poured into him by the bad Grannie. He yells at her to stop talking.

Somehow the fancy car Miran drives gives out in the middle of nowhere. It is then that they both realize they left everything at the mansion including cell phones. They start walking to find help.

Angry, Bad Grannie is waiting for more news from the wedding when she gets a call from yet another, younger granddaughter (sorry missed the name on this person too). This is the nicest to anyone we have seen Bad Grannie. Later, when Gonul and her mother return with the tragic news of Gul, Grannie could care less and says it is a good thing, as those people must suffer every tragedy possible.

Miran and Reyyan continue down a dark road, but she is tried, cold and her feet hurt. Miran has been kind to her and even apologies for yelling at her. She tells him her tears are not of fear but of the immense love she has for him. They see a cabin that appears vacant. Miran breaks in, finds some firewood while Reyyan looks at him lovingly. Miran’s second personality emerges as he touches the ring around his neck, he angrily tells Reyyan to take off her dress. The episode ends with Reyyan again looking confused with the abrupt change in her new husband.

I think the episode I just posted is really #4 as the first episode on Tuesday was two hours. I will try and get my act together by Monday.

Rgv Chick, thank you for joining us on this, my first Turkish TN. I agree that novelera, Juanita and dondi356 are terrific recappers, thus inspiring me to continue to try and do justice in a recap. I look forward to your great, insightful comments!

Thank you so much for the "bonus", VVS! Yes, this novela seems steeped in tragedy. Last night's episode was very interesting. I enjoyed the wedding traditions. One thing I wondered about is the fact that they made so much about henna. I have seen pictures of brides with henna designs on their arms and who knows where else. But after mentioning, henna, I did not notice any on Reyyan, unless it's where the dress covers her.

I hadn't even thought about Miran's plan being to kill Reyyan. I was thinking more along the lines of rejecting her on the wedding night, or maybe having sex with her and then sending her back. Any of the three options could be Bad Grannie's plan, I suppose. What an evil woman! If they ever mount a Turkish production of The Wizard of Oz, well the witch is already cast!

I think that, even as bad as Yaren is, I don't think she thought her cousin would be killed.

I thoroughly enjoyed Zerah going off on her in-laws. It was basically "NOW you notice how awful your children are. Except that Arat has just seemed like a quiet obedient boy up until he got crazy with jealousy. It's Yaren who is the bad seed.

I don't think Gul will die, but I have an awful feeling about some bad outcome: paralysis, blindness.

Adriana Noel, don't worry about your problems with Telemundo. I caught up last night. And I had the WORST time with delayed Spanish captions. With these Colombian accents, I really need them.

Things just seem to be going from bad to worse. I'll stick out the week, but won't be recapping since I don't plan to be the only one, or one of two had you decided to continue.

So...Lucia's evil father gets beat up by thugs sent by, I think, a mafioso he's borrowed money from. And it looks like Lucia's job is not an independent one. I think they alluded to her working in that same company that's gone bust. Bad Daddy needs $80K or they'll kidnap Lucia and, IIRC, ravish her.

Most of last night was taken up with Maricucha urging Lucia to go see a guy in Bogotá who could somehow fast track a visa for Gaviota to go to New York. [Wouldn't she need a passport first? Doesn't seem like something she'd already have.] And Maricucha seems as naive or even more so than Gaviota. So...coming up with a guy to arrange for Gaviota to do international travel...pretty risky.

The guy looks shady to me and wanted 5 million pesos for getting her that visa. That's most of the 7 million they got back from Sebas/Julia. I noticed Julia didn't say anything about Sebas producing that money and giving it to his mother.

Supposedly Gaviota somehow has the name of the company where Sebas works in NYC, even though she doesn't have his home address.

How many things can go wrong with this plan. I can't even bear to list them.

So, unless someone else decides to step up to the plate, there won't be recaps of Café con Aroma de Mujer.

What a wonderful surprise, VVS! An excellent recap as always! Thank you so very much!

The man in the car with Azize was Firat. I’m not sure if he’s a family member or friend. Yes, I’ve caught him looking at Yaren and he seems interested. Someone better warn him off, quick.

Bad Grannie’s other granddaughter is Elif.

Rgv Chick, so happy you will be visiting the Hercai patio. You will have recognized the henna night and wedding traditions from “Embajador”, especially the red ribbon and the bride on the horse.

“Gonul manages (without straggling Reyyan)” LOL

The Turks only place henna on the palm of the hand. Sometimes the groom gets it on a finger. Other countries have more elaborate designs.

I have a feeling we are already getting edits. I haven’t seen the Turkish language version, but so far, the English translation seems to have a sense of the Turkish language.

I wish Miran would comb his hair differently.

I’m recapping tonight. It will be up sometime Saturday.

Thank you novelera and dondi356 for reading and commenting on the recap. To be honest, I was stuck on a boring Zoom call this morning for my boss and did my best to retell the story from memory. dondi356, I appreciate you filling in the name for Firat, Miran’s friend/family member and Elif the younger granddaughter. I could not for the life of me remember the correct spellings! I would have called him Fiat and her Elfie and I didn’t want to be too disrespectful.

“If they ever mount a Turkish production of The Wizard of Oz, well the witch is already cast!” Oh my goodness yes novelera! Bad Grannie gets the part hands down!

I hope that Gul does survive and does not have lasting issues, but I am doubtful about the later.

dondi356 so glad you are going to help us with the wealth of knowledge you have by providing the Turkish TN recap mini-classes. I look forward to your recap of tonight’s episode!

herc

Thanks VERY much, VVS, for this "quick" but excellent recap!

You and Rgv Chick seem to be thinking along similar lines concerning Bad Grannie's true motivations. Rgv chick speculates that perhaps Grannie is "a woman scorned," and you speculate that Bad Grannie and "Grandpa Tyrant" had a former relationship. I think you're both onto something.

I was glad to see you question the assumption that Azat was the one who shot Gul. Certainly everyone in the novela seems to share that assumption, even Azat, but I had the impression that Firat was the one whose gun was pointed in the direction of Gul when he fired. She didn't seem to be directly in the line of fire, however, so it could have been a shot from either gun that ricocheted off a car or wall and hit Gul.

BTW, you were right to label this episode #3. I checked the Telemundo site before numbering my recap as episode #2. Apparently Telemundo regards the 2-hour opening as one episode. And you'll see that the episode you've just recapped is shown on the Telemundo site as #3.

Again, many many thanks!!

herc

Thank you for the clarification on the episode numbering Juanita. I didn’t have access to my normal recapping set up this morning so it definitely was just winging it!

I think the bullet may have come from Firat's gun the way things were set up, but because Azat was angry and drunk he is the easiest to blame.

This TN is sure a lot more interesting to recap than Loli. I am going to like the twists and turns plus the opportunity to speculate on plots and plotting with others who are watching and commenting.

Herc #4 part 1

Miran tells Reyyan to take off her dress. He explains, it was wet outside and your dress probably got wet. She says alright, but she is very nervous and hesitates. Miran says, there’s a curtain over there and you can take it off behind that.

She closes the curtain and Miran watches her silhouette. He unbuttons his shirt and holds his mother’s ring. He hears Azize’s voice: “when the evil Hazar Sadoglu tried to dishonor your mother, she was wearing this ring.” He looks at Reyyan’s silhouette again.

Miran opens the curtain. Reyyan is down to her slip. He gives her a very intense stare. She looks so nervous. He reaches past her, picks up the blanket, wraps it around her and holds her tight. There are competing voices in his head. Azize: “they say you gave your heart to the daughter of your enemy.” Reyyan: “I fear nothing when I’m with you. Nobody can hurt me.” He lets go of her and tells her to sit and he will find something to drink.

Azize is at the cemetery, talking to her son’s grave. [Mehmet Aslanbey was just short of 23 years old. His wife, Dilşah, was just short of 21.] It’s been 27 years and I didn’t give up, Azize says, they didn’t defeat me. You gave me the strength. We finally did it. You couldn’t rest in peace, and I couldn’t either. Since the moment those people took your life, she cries, I’ve known nothing but sorrow. Do you hear that? The wolves are howling, warning of the Sadoglus’ end. When the sun rises you shall be avenged. Miran will have kept his word.

Miran has made tea. Reyyan says she should have made it. He holds his mother’s ring, and she asks about it. He says it’s nothing and tucks it back into his undershirt.

She asks, tell me about yourself, I want to get to know you better. He answers, you know who I am, what I do, and you’ve met my family. That’s not what she wants to know. She asks, what is your favorite food? He says he likes everything. His favorite color? Black [could have guessed that]. A song? He doesn’t listen to music.

She asks, what were you like when you were a kid? I don’t know, he replies, like any other. Then he quickly adds, that’s not true, I wasn’t like the others. I didn’t talk much. I wasn’t happy. Why, Reyyan asks? I didn’t have a father that must have been it. [I think it’s because of Bad Granny] Anything else you’d like to know, he asks? No.

She starts, when I was a girl, I thought… he puts his finger on her mouth. He asks her if she knows the meaning behind this gesture. She doesn’t. He begins, when all the souls were made, the secrets of the universe were given to them. There were no secrets in the time of souls.

When a soul was sent to Earth, an angel would do this with its finger. It means silence. You will forget the secrets, they will remain here. Upon removing the finger, the soul has forgotten everything. But this gesture remains in remembrance of the silence. What happens here, stays here, he tells her. He gives her quick kiss on the lips. The blanket comes off, he gives her a longer kiss, and he takes the strap of her slip down …

Meanwhile, Azize is still at the cemetery. [this woman is a ghoul!]

Gonul cries over one of her wedding pics. [Notice she’s smiling but Miran is not.] Sultan comforts her daughter.

Azat sits outside the hospital and cries, and inside, the agonizing vigil continues for news on Gul.

The newlyweds have consummated their marriage. When Reyyan falls asleep, Miran opens his eyes.

Did Azize really spend the whole night at the cemetery? That was the last night, she says to her dead son, the sun will finally shine on us. Miran will come and you can finally rest in peace with your wife.

dondi356

Hercai #4 part 2

Back at the honeymoon cabin…. Miran gets dressed. Reyyan wakes. Good morning, she says to her new husband. He doesn’t answer her. Why did you get up so early, she asks? He doesn’t answer. She gets up and goes to him. You’re scaring me, she says. You don’t know who I really am, he tells her. You’re Miran Aksoy, my husband, she replies.

Miran turns to face her and delivers the devastating blow—you are nothing to me. She is shocked and confused. What are you talking about? We got married yesterday. Do you believe in fairy tales, he asks? This one is over. Our story ends here Reyyan Sadoglu.

He heads for the door, and she stops him. What are you saying? This was nothing but a big lie, he tells her. She doesn’t believe what is happening. I am your wife…what did I ever do to you, she asks, why would you lie to me? He answers, ask the Sadoglus, they will tell you.

He walks out. She follows and screams, Miran! He hears Azize’s voice, “do not permit your heart to question your objective. This is justice.” She catches up to him. You can’t leave me, she cries. We got married, I became your wife. Was that a lie? He places his finger on her lips and she knocks it away. Answer me, she shouts, answer! He answers coldly, I told you last night, what happened in that cabin stays there. For me, you remained there, too. Don’t come after me. Understand?

He takes off, she crumples to the ground. Miran! Miran! He keeps walking. She shouts, as God is my witness, I’ll never forget what you did to me! He is shaken by her cries and tells himself, don’t look back, don’t do it. I won’t let you forget, she shouts. He repeats, don’t look back, you got your revenge and it’s over.

Reyyan is crying on the ground. She thinks about the sky swing and Miran telling her, “You can go as high as you want because I will protect you. If you let go, it doesn’t matter because I will be there to catch you in my arms…. Then I’ll jump right after you and we will both fall together.”

He’s thinking back to the sky swing, too. He thinks back to her dancing at their wedding. He tells himself, it’s over. He thinks of her in her henna dress. Their kiss in the cabin. He turns to look at Reyyan and tears fall from his eyes. [Hey, I think he really loves this girl.] He takes a step as if to go back but stops and pulls out the ring to strengthen his resolve. It’s over, he tells himself, you’ve got your revenge. He continues on his way.

Reyyan sobs, how could you leave me? You should have killed me instead of leaving me like this. Don’t go, Miran. She slowly gets up and walks back to the cabin. She thinks back to their night. She puts the wedding dress back on.

The doctor comes with news on Gul. She is alive. The family is relieved. Zehra cries tears of happiness. The doctor adds, the bullet didn’t hit any vital organs. Nasuh asks when they can see her. The doctor’s face changes and Zehra asks what’s wrong.

The doctor answers, if we extract the bullet from her brain, she could die. That’s why we left the bullet. [Didn’t the doctor say the bullet didn’t hit a vital organ? I guess the brain is not a vital organ in this TN. Clearly her specialty is Telenovela Medicine.]

Zehra asks, does that mean my daughter will never wake up? Will my daughter die? The doctor says, she is still critical, and we will have more information once she opens her eyes. We don’t know if there will be permanent damage. Be ready for any possibility. Nasuh shouts, we’ll take her somewhere else, with more competent doctors! You’re all useless! [I’ll have to agree with Nasuh].

dondi356

Herc #4 part 3

The doctor says if you transfer her now, she will certainly die. We can’t allow a transfer. Hazar asks, will she survive? Can she live with a bullet in her head? The doctor says it’s possible, we have to wait. Zehra pleads with God not to take her baby. The doctor says they don’t have to stay at the hospital. The child is in intensive care. They will call immediately if there are changes.

Reyyan takes off her wedding rings. She picks up the container of gasoline and sprinkles it over the floor. She thinks about making love with Miran.

Miran shows up at the cemetery and meets up with Bad Grannie. She’s happy to see “the most courageous of the Aslanbeys”. Did you complete your revenge, she asks? Did you cast dishonor on that family? Did you break that girl’s heart? We have our revenge, Grandmother, Miran says, let them seethe like we did. I have avenged my parent’s deaths. She is jubilant, it’s done. I can finally breathe again. She thanks her grandson. He kisses her hand.

You have broken the darkness that was upon us, she tells Miran, it’s time for the Sadoglus to bear it. She notices he’s not sharing in the revenge happiness. Why do you look upset, she asks? He doesn’t answer. Did one of them hurt you? I heard you didn’t make it to the hotel, she says, is there something you’re not telling me? He tells her the car broke down and they had to spend the night in a cabin. Not important, Azize says, the cabin is more than she deserves.

He tells Azize to go ahead. He wants to spend time with his parents before he goes. She says to come later with Firat.

Reyyan sets fire to the to the cabin and sits. She hears Miran’s words, “I told you, what happened in the cabin stays there. To me, you stayed there, too. Don’t look for me.” She passes out from the smoke and the heat.

Miran is at his parents’ graves. I’ve always heard the same story since you left. Although, you used to tell me different stories, mom. I miss you more than I can put into words. I still remember your scent. I miss you voice so much, mom. How you’d sing to me. [I wonder if she sang in Spanish or Turkish?]

He’s trying hard to keep his composure. I finally took revenge on those that took you from me. I’m ashamed to say this and I wish it weren’t so, but my heart can’t find peace. He can’t hold back the tears any longer. Part of it still burns, he says. Why? He puts his hand over his heart and says, here it burns. I still feel like I’m burning, as if you just died, mom, and a part of me, too. I can’t feel complete. He sobs. [hmm…he only speaks to his mother.]

Sultan gets a call from Bad Grannie. Its over. We have our revenge. Get your daughter and get ready to travel, we are going to Kars today. [Kars is a city in Northeast Turkey near the Armenian border.] Gonul wants to know about Miran, when will he be back? Sultan asks Azize, should we wait for you or Miran? Or should we just leave? Azize says she is on her way. Miran stayed behind with his parents and will meet up with them later.

Sultan confirms the good news with Gonul. Miran has his revenge. No more Reyyan, no more Sadoglu. She adds, the only obstacle now is Señora Azize.

The family leaves the hospital. Hazar and Zehra stay. Zehra says to call Reyyan, call Miran. She needs to know what happened to her sister.

Azat approaches the family as they leave the hospital. He asks how Gul is. Nasuh demands to know why he showed up armed. Cihan tells his dad to go easy on Azat, he’s in enough anguish. Let’s talk about it later.

Handan defends her son saying, he couldn’t take the way that man treated his sister. He wanted to beat Miran to make him pay. Nasuh doesn’t want to hear it now and he doesn’t believe that story. Nasuh gives the order to leave. Azat says he’s staying.

dondi356

Herc #4 part 4

Before leaving, Yaren tells her brother if he would have waited just one more day, everything would have been fine. She doesn’t give him more of an explanation, but says to herself as she leaves, you’ll understand when Reyyan comes home crying.

Firat comes to the cemetery. Miran is kneeling at the graves with his head down. Firat prays and then tells Miran, let’s go, get up. We can go to the hotel first to get rest if you want. You don’t look good. Miran says he doesn’t need to. Firat says then they can start driving.

Miran says he will return to Kars alone. He tells Firat, there is someplace else for you to go. Where? To the cabin. I left that girl there, it’s isolated. Firat says, if you’re worried about leaving her there, go see her yourself.

Hazar and Zehra are at Gul’s beside. How sad. They talk to her. They tell her she’s going to be fine. They cry. Zehra thinks it would be good for Gul if Reyyan were there. Hazan has tried contacting everyone. Even Sultan’s phone is off, he says. Zehra worries, now she has a bad feeling about Reyyan. Hazan tells her not to worry, he’s sure she’s fine.

Miran has stopped at a fountain. A woman stops him as he leaves, she tells him you forgot your wedding ring. Don’t take it off again or your wife will be angry. He looks at his bare finger and takes the ring back. He gets in his car and goes to put the ring in the glove box.

He hears Azize, “do not permit your heart to question your objective. Carry this ring close to your heart and let your mother’s blood be a constant reminder. Don’t allow your feelings to cloud your judgment.” Miran takes the string out of his shirt and unties it. He places his wedding ring on it, along with his mother’s and tucks it back into his shirt. He drives off.

Reyyan is passed out in the blazing cabin. Someone comes back to rescue her, it’s not clear who it is. Is it Firat or Miran? The cabin is consumed by the flames. The rescuer places Reyyan in the back of his car.

And we are out.

What a superb recap dondi356! You sure know how to turn a phrase!

Bad Grannie is definitely a ghoul. Once the real story is revealed about Miran’s parents death, I will decide if I feel a little bit sorry for her, as her grief seems genuine at the cemetery.

I liked the angel “my lips are sealed” story and wondered if that was one of the stories Miran’s mother told him when he was a little boy. I also noted that he only spoke to his mother, not his father.

“Miran turns to face her and delivers the devastating blow—you are nothing to me. She is shocked and confused. What are you talking about? We got married yesterday. Do you believe in fairy tales, he asks? This one is over. Our story ends here Reyyan Sadoglu.” Wow what a powerful scene. I was just glad the plan wasn’t to kill her but the when she tries to kill herself because of the shame, that was powerful as well. So the plan was to love her and leave her devastated.

[Hey, I think he really loves this girl.] I think so too and clearly the way he talked to his mother at the cemetery, the venganza wasn’t as fulfilling as he thought it might be, unlike Bad Grannie who was very happy.

[Didn’t the doctor say the bullet didn’t hit a vital organ? I guess the brain is not a vital organ in this TN. Clearly her specialty is Telenovela Medicine.] No kidding dondi356 and what exactly did they operate on?

I think it was Firat who recuses Reyyan as the interior of the car was lighter than the one Miran was in. I guess we have Telenovela Mechanics too, because that was the same car that broke down. His wedding ring with Reyyan and his mother’s ring near his heart now, Miran is definitely torn and Gonul is going to be SOL.

Rgv Chick, thanks for the extra details on the actors. I think Miran is a steamy, handsome “Turkish Hunk of Burning Love” lol and Reyyan just beautiful! I am really hooked as well!

Oops, I mean thank you Nina for the extra info on the actors and the Turkish Hunk of Burning Love" comment!

Cafe
Sorry to hear that there will no longer be recaps for Cafe.
Unfortunately I am busy this summer with guests, so I am unable to volunteer. In fact, I haven’t seen this week’s episodes and will catch up next week.
So far, I have been enjoying the acting, the story, even the Columbian accents.
Hope to join CarayCaray again in the future.
Thank you!

Thank you Dondi. WHAT A GREAT RECAP.
BAD GRANNY, BAD GRAND DADDY. BAD HUSBAND, Until he changes anyway. I really hope was him that rescued her. But I'm thinking firat. Don't like what I saw in the preview for monday. But it should get better from here. I hope. So they have inbreeding in these families, what a mess.

Do the sons even know that grandpa raped and murdered somebody out of jealousy? And what happened to the the wife of bad grandpa? Did he kill her? Wouldn't be surprised. By

The Caliphate…yes..Grandmomma from hell: Madam Aziz is training to the Taliban women’s unit commander…she is abominable and of course- has no compassion and will MK-ULTRA MIND CONTROL her own kids…….

This helli-fied combination of tropes…gives us -HOT TELEVISON –especially during the month of Ramadan!!!! Sleep all day, then -eat and watch Turkish soaps…all night., this show was the BOMB..!!!!

Yarran is a sociopath. Just like granddad…her brother -AZAT,is a sorry excuse for a man. A punk/weakling-who has NEVER once PROTECTED Reyyan,in all the years they lived together!. The little girl—Gol-- has more gumption!!!!

Poor Reyyan, she is in for it and has been the blunt of that family’s abuse… because she isn’t the old farts granddaughter?so she is fair game. Yes…loving-Gol---.that little girl is cute as a button.. yes!

WS… yes…:

Nashua- grandpappy-Ayatollah- thinks he is getting a social come up. And he planned to give psycho to Mirani, however that didn't work out and this horse trading of woman is very interesting and sick…!
.
So grand pappy and his oldest son and oldest daughter [ the parents of psycho in training Yarren and Azat-he looks like an alcoholic weakling and has been lusting over his cousin Reyyan -for years ] Nashu-tried to get Mr. M to marry evil Yarran …………..cause God forbid our heroine have a happy life in a happy marriage.

Even though ,this is Turkey ……….you still have to have the consent of the bride before you can have marriage. Usually?? ….but these women are so beat down under that old man's rule and surviving living under a modified ‘ ISIS ‘…state ..sh#$%t happens ..plus some mother and aunts may also be desperate or $$$greedy.

At first ,I thought grannyAzize, might be justified in wanting revenge …….. but the more I listened..I realized, she's psycho too!! And you are correct I believe there is a relationship between granny and the tyrant??????? your speculation is possibly on point.yuck.. a pox on both of them..... they hurt too many people....

YARREN is crazy entitled, psycho, and I did not realize , that she overheard the plot for Azize's revenge…!! I did not know that, at first……
WTF!!!! so she overheard GONUL the first wife and the flunky Firat [that looks like a dog / big stupid expression on his face all the time.]

The wedding preparation was …okay.. the shopping scene was nice…… when he put that little pure gold 18 karat anklet on her ankle. Okay……it confirmed that this man was in love with her..oh yes…!! a man that will rub your feet is the best man you'll ever have.!!!!

However,… as revelation presented itself... we begin to see that Miran -ain't ****!! come on-dude!When he takes the first wife necklace and gives it to the second wife…WTF!! he ain't no damn good..!!
……..and that first wife. Gonul…… needs to wake the hell up..!! did that girl say they never had sex because what they are cousins~~ what the hell?

That sure-aS-hell- ain’t stopping[ baggy eyed] Azat!.. and didn’t THE MEN- start negotiating and suggesting…. they wanted Miren;s ..'sister'..[1st/first wife --WITH ALL LEGAL RIGHTS-UNDER LAW!! ] spinster- Gonul to marry ..cuz Azat! Why not..?she s a virgin bride ..still….after how many years!

Gonul is loose cannon….between her and psycho Yarran….. it’s anybody’s guess of the trunk of bad luck coming…IN’SHA’ALLAH!!!!!

HOW BAD..?? Yarran attacks Reyyan before the engagement party. Then the demon child…..tears up the bridal dress !!

What else can go wrong!!!....lots cause..later, because we're in denial land………okay..Wedding was awesome and I knew the blood sacrifice was coming, when he tied REYYAN dress up with the same red ribbon, they used to tide up the rest of the guest’s gifts / dowry / bride- price ……whatever ? These women are just like commodities these men are exchanging .
OF COURSE , BAD FORTUNE IS ON ITS WAY…THEIR MARRIAGE IS CURSED AND DOOMED!!!

Azat is a waste of space ..all the years grandpa was kicking that girl aszz……. you ain't do crap .por favor!!!.

Now , she gonna finally getting a man and maybe have some type of status in society, other than whipping post……….Azat-now- you want to step in? por favor.. get the hell outta here!

raped ?? -commit suicide?/murdered by Nashu..what's the deal?

………she said she'd -been- holding- back ,but now-she's got- to -let- them- all- know ... that -from here -on------they better- back -up -off-of-her- daughters!!

MIREN AND REYYAN… leave the scene without their phones ……then…get stuck in the middle of ****** nowhere and Mr. MIREN proceeds to seduce and abandoned Reyyan.

Hotel-no-tell-..in the car?....because like grandma said ...it doesn’t matter -where- you pop -the- cork--- just -use- her- and then humiliate /disgrace and embarrassed her whole family by dishonoring their reputation..by abandoning the girl..!!

. So here we are in , 2020, 2019 when this show was premiering, the intact virgin is still a weapon for dishonor, how pious is this family.. por favor!!

I thought the plan was to make grandpappy's family home, mansion into a luxury five-star hotel??..where is the financial dealings that would give these people. this type of $$clout?
Why?what is the sexual obsession that would take this family over the edge...?oh yea..they hate this girl..!

MOMMA SULTANA and[ played -used up and drying up from disuse…]Mrs.Gonul…. Both are just pawns in this thing !!...why in the world are they cooperating with the grandmomma from hell… somebody gotta tell me more…..

In the good -old tradition of immolate yourself.. Which- if that's the custom?! options :drinking-acid/poison or strangulation or beaten to death……or shot in the head…she's gonna do it according to societal norms…
Gee-whizz.!!Let’s -just-save everyone the trouble of killing me--!!

REYYAN … it's time for you to wake up girl…. you been everybody's punching bag and now you're gonna be considered everybody's WHORE…

The music back at the cabin when she was setting the joint on fire …was some Mexican mariachi music... which I did not find appropriate …except i did hear:..you are a liar ……because the rest of the soundtrack is beautiful Turkish music.

Sultana and her daughter get ready to roll ……….TOO WHERE?? KARS? WHY??.. and Firat—the rat-is a goofy [ MIREN-loving flunky…]and Azzie’s bootlick…
Madam-high class -Azize is Mind effing… Miren up!!.. she is laying on the guilt- trip and lathers the foam of hatred..

I have no pity for dude……when he left that girl, he knew she was doomed to be..‘stoned-to -death/honor killing Armenia /Turkish .style………..the girl didn’t stand a chance of retaining her independence….or her life……….!!!!!!.

Let’s see…… so baggy eyed-Azat’s,mom-Handan/ passive dad…are covering for his Lame-aszz. His excuse for having a gun..is some toxic-macho bullcrap!! Grandpappy Nasuh, understands that mess…and gives him a pass…Really??…what-.now- Azat grew some eggs..!!

Thanks very much, dondi356, for this wonderful recap! I loved your comment about the brain apparently not being a vital organ--I too thought "HUH??" when I watched that scene.

I assumed that it was Miran who saves Reyyan from the fire she set in the cabin. All he told Firat was that she was in a remote cabin--it's hard to believe that Firat would find the cabin in time. It's also unlikely that he would risk his life to save her. And Firat tells Miran, " ifyou’re worried about leaving her there, go see her yourself." OTOH, the person who rescued her did drive there. I'm not sure whose car Miran and Reyyan used when they left the wedding. I assumed it was Miran's. And it broke down, either by Telenovela Coincidence or because someone wanted to be sure the couple didn't succeed in getting where they were going. In any event, how did Miran get his car to start? So there are problems with either Firat or Miran being the rescueer. But I think Miran has a lot more incentive (his love for Reyyan) and a knowledge of where the cabin is. And he is, after all, the galan. Perhaps we'll find out more on Monday.

I might add that given how fast the fire was spreading, it's hard to believe that anyone could have arrived in time, except by Telenovela Magic.

One thing about the hospital scene puzzled me: Hazar and Zehra were in the ICU with the unconscious Gul. They both had masks, but they weren't wearing them! In the ICU??? In both cases, the mask was under the chin, permitting the wearers to spread whatever germs they may have had.

Wonderful recap, dondi. Thanks so very much. And, I agree, Miran is already in love with Reyyan. He felt he had to go through with the mission he'd been given by his grandmother. I believe he alluded to that with either Firat or Gonul: two years cultivating the Sadoglu. I have a feeling there might be some financial bad news in store for Nasuh.

I need to take some time and pull out my huge world atlas and figure out where these places are. Because I like surprises, I did not read Juanita's brief description on the page she posted where I put up my recap of the premiere. So I'll be looking for Midyat and Kars on my map.

I am a bit confused by the ages when Miran's parents died. Did they marry as teenagers? Miran appears to remember his mother but they died at, respectively 23 and 21. Most children can't remember anything earlier than 3 years old.

I do remember my first sight of my brother. I was 3 and he came home from the hospital pretty low birthweight. I was just shocked at how scrawny he was. I must have had an image in my mind of a plump, rosy kid and he was far from that! I've been told that memories at that early age usually involve some major event and of course, having a sibling was definitely in that ballpark.

So, Bad Grannie was all alone and told the same story to the tombstones. So, we still can't reconcile kindly Hazar Sadoglu to what she's saying. But...why would she lie to two tombstones?

I don't think it was Miran who pulled Reyyan out of the flames. Of course, we knew she wasn't going to burn up. She's the heroine.

And it appears that he made very gentle and tender love to the virginal Reyyan. I doubt that was in Bad Grannie's script.

Yes, I'm hooked.

Thanks everyone! It looks like we have a lively little group on the patio for this one.

Nina, there are similarities between Hercai and Embajador, but I think the Sadoglus and the Aslanbeys make the Efeoglus look like progressives. I saw a brief interview with Akın Akınözü, he studied in the US for 7 years. His English is fairly good.

The bullet in the non-vital organ bothered me, so I went to look at the original Turkish. The doctor said “the bullet did not damage a major vein”. That makes more sense.

I’m wondering what kind of marriage Miran has with Gonul because polygamy is illegal in Turkey.

I can’t make up my mind if it is Miran or Firat. Could it be someone else? Like Juanita pointed out, it’s hard to believe either Miran or Firat would have arrived in time.

I am glad you are with us on this Halimacandy. The Caliphate, the Taliban. Good points about the societal norms. It sounds like you have watched this show already.

novelera, Midyat is in the Southeast of Turkey near the Syrian border. Kars is in the Northeast near the Armenian border. BTW, the bridge you see in the opening, the Malabadi Bridge, is a UNESCO world heritage site.

dondi356, I am so excited that you are part of this team. I really admire you for your tenacity and dedication to providing us with your knowledge and talent. All the additional info and explanations about Turkish customs and the misleading translations is truly appreciated.

I am quite perplexed with Azize's vengeance plan. IF Miran's parents were so brutally killed, are we to believe that Azize opted to destroy an innocent young woman rather than take vengeance and kill those who harmed her family. That just doesn't make sense to me. Shaming a young woman is supposed to destroy the Sadoglu's?? If anything, it'll give them cause to strike back! Does. Not. Make. Sense.

Miran looked completely devastated when he was walking away from Reyyan. When he finally looked back, I was hoping love would conquer vengeance, but then we would have a very short TN, wouldn't we?

I still think Azize is lying about how Miran's parents died. And we have been told nothing about what Miran's father was like. I too noticed that Miran only spoke to his mother. Could his father have been as evil as Azize? I just can't see Hazar killing him unless there was a very good, justified reason.

I say that it was definitely NOT Miran who ran in and carried Reyyan out. The man who ran in was wearing a white (or light colored) shirt; and Miran was clothed totally in black. The only one wearing a light colored shirt was Firat, but like others have pointed out, he wouldn't have had the chance to get there in time nor did he know where the cabin was. I'm thinking it was someone we haven't seen yet...maybe someone who will also be enchanted with Reyyan???

I had to laugh with all the comments about Miran's car. I too was wondering how it magically got fixed so that Miran could go report to Azize.

Hercai

We could really get lost in the weeds with this show.

Thanks, Rgv Chick, for your very kind words and for calling our attention to Miran wearing black. That would mean he had to change clothes before hurrying back to the cabin. So it is more likely to be Firat (wearing a blue suit?). And that would make a third party more of a possibility.

I think some details might have ended up on the cutting room floor. It wouldn’t be the first time Telemundo has done that. I don’t have time right now to review an entire Turkish episode.

I'm delighted that we have an almost complete set of recappers for Hercai: Amor y venganza. The lineup looks like this:

Monday: VVS
Tuesday: Juanita
Wednesday:
Thursday: novelera
Friday: dondi356

We need just one more person to offer to recap! How about it, folks. Give it a try. The recaps do not have to be long. One or two pages is fine!! You do NOT have to cover everything, just some of the stuff that seems to you most important. And if you're inclined to add some snark, so much the better.

Greetings...I have been absent from The Patio for many years, but am looking forward to some company as I start watching "Hercai". The great recaps/comments always add to my enjoyment! So I gather, since Gonul and Miram are both "Bad Granny's" grandkids...they are first cousins? Also, I formed a favorable impression of Firat as a loyal and caring friend. We shall see!
