Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #10
Part 1

Hazar is shocked to hear Sultana say she is not Miran’s mother, but his mother-in-law. She tells Hazar that both want to protect their children and she is risking her life to be out there speaking to him. She says if Azize finds Reyyan first, she will be killed. Sultana will give Hazar the location to the house in the vineyard if he promises to spare Miran’s life. Hazar promises that if he finds Reyyan alive, he will release Miran, if not, Miran will die and go straight to hell. Sultana gives him the directions to the vineyard and leaves.

Cihan has been watching the discussion and askes Hazar who that woman was. At first Hazar is hesitant (for good reason) but the tells Cihan that it was Sultana and she gave him the location of the house where Miran has Reyyan. Cihan plays good brother and says go find Reyyan and I will distract our father. Hazar is grateful to his brother. Cihan lies and says he would do anything for his older brother to help him.

Not ten seconds later, Cihan is tattle-telling on Hazar to Grampa Tyrant. Cihan plays the victim saying that although Nasuh smacked him the day before, Cihan could not allow another person to stab his father in the back. He gives the written directions to the vineyard house to GT. Azat overhears the conversation and heads out after Gramps and the chauffer/bodyguard. Cihan walks away with a smug smile on his face.

Speaking of smacking, Sultana arrives back at the Aslanbey mansion. Waiting for her is Bad Grannie Azize. Sultana tries to say she was out in the market buying oil for the lamps, but a quick backhanded slap to the face from BG, shuts her up quickly. BG says that she didn’t get to be Azize Aslanbey by being stupid. She tells Sultana that selling information to the Sadoglu is traitorous and she will pay the price. Sultana tries to say that she was only trying to save Miran and bring him home so they could be a family. Azize tells her that she is the head of the family and Sultana is just a snake. Gonul has witnessed the entire discussion and comes to her mother’s defense, telling BG that it was enough. Why does BG treat the help better than her own family. Glaring, BG heads back up to her bedroom.

Waiting for her is Esma. BG thank Esma for her loyalty and says that the snake Sultana will not bother her again. BG orders Esma to call Firat. Firat, still overseeing the fake search for Miran, answers only to hear Azize on the other end telling him to end the farce as the Sadoglu know where Miran is hiding. She demands that he go immediately to rescue Miran before the Sadoglu find him.

Firat is beside himself, calls Miran to warn him, but the phone he was of course damaged the night before. Firat is frustrated, them calls all the men who are searching the river bank and gives them their new orders.

At the Sadoglu mansion, Yaren and Handan are in the sitting room. Yaren is concerned that Azat will want to complete his promise to bring Reyyan home as his wife. Handan says over her dead body will that ever occur. In comes the kitchen servant, Hanife, with a tray of coffee. In a funny and interesting turn of events, she leaves the coffee on the table, gets her own cup, sits on the couch like she owns the place and proceeds to drink her coffee. Yaren and Handan are speechless.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #10
Part 2

Handan demands to know what her problem is? Hanife says, I am just enjoying what I deserve “Handan.” To Yaren, Handan says, did she just call me Handan? Yaren shakes her head, “yes.” In a very entertaining conversation, Hanife tells the two that she has no qualms about telling Nasuh that Yaren knew about the Aslanbey venganza before the wedding occurred and she choice to keep quiet. Yaren was the first to dishonor the family. Handan says that is a bunch of lies but Hanife tells her that she can at least set that story out there and let the Abuelo decide if it is true or not.

Yaren asks, what is that you want for your silence? Jewels? Money? Land? Nope says Hanife, she wants to marry Nasuh and be the next Lady of the House of Sadoglu. She wants the two of them to help her make that a reality. (Recapper pauses to laugh hysterically at the avocados on this lady!). Hanife nosily slurps her coffee, then hands the cup to Yaren telling her to put it on the table. To Handan, she says, drink your coffee before is gets cold “Handan.” Hanife leans back onto the couch pillows and sighs in expectation of what is to come. (This is a very unexpected, hopefully fun, turn of events).

On the many car Sadoglu convey out to find Miran and Reyyan, Cihan is talking to himself envisioning his father finding Hazar rescuing Reyyan and letting Miran go. He hopes that this will make his father see who is loyal and worthy and who is not.

Miran is slowly dressing himself still in pain but manages to pull on his sweater. Reyyan emerges also dressed and heads for the door. He stops her saying where are you going. She says, they say that the bad weeds don’t die, I see it is true, so now I am leaving. He blocks her path and reminds her that everyone is out there looking for her to kill her. Just at that moment they hear a car drive up. It is Hazar, just ahead of the Sadoglu posse. Miran sees him out the window and tells Reyyan it is her father. She of course begins to scream for him. Miran covers her mouth and retrains her.

Hazar enters the house looking for them. Miran and Reyyan are hiding in a storge area on the first floor. Miran uncovers her mouth and she does not scream because she doesn’t want her father to find them and kill Miran, as he isn’t worth her father becoming a killer.

Hazar does find them and points the gun at Miran. Miran contemplates pulling his pistol but after a thorough berating from Hazar about trusting him with the most sacred thing he had in Reyyan, he decides against it. At that moment the Sadoglu posse arrives in at least four cars, GT gives orders to find and kill both Miran and Reyyan.

Hazar tells Miran to take Reyyan far away and to take care of her. To Reyyan he says that he promised her mother that he would find her and bring her home alive. She needs to go with Miran because GT will certainly kill her.

After searching the house, GT and crew realize that the fugitives are no longer in there. He orders a search of the grounds just as we see Reyyan and Miran running through the fields. Reyyan twists her ankle and is angry when Miran grabs her hand. He grabs he wrist and drags her along.

Inside the house a heated exchange occurs with GT and Hazar ending in a resounding slap from GT to Hazar. When Hazar exits the house he overhears Cihan telling GT that Reyyan and Miran must die, realizes that his brother sold him out. He tells Cihan that all this time he believed that he really wanted to help Reyyan but that obviously is not true. GT tells Hazar he has to stay with him while the rest are out looking for the fugitives. The orders are shoot to kill. The chauffer/body guard says, even Reyyan? Yes! Bellows the tyrant. Hazar leaves saying he will save his daughter from GT.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #10
Part 3

Firat is listening to the conversations from a hiding spot on the vineyard. Firat runs for the car.

Miran and Reyyan make it to the main road and here comes Firat down the road. Right behind him is the Sadoglu chauffer/bodyguard. The chauffer stops the car and pulls his gun out pointing at Miran, who pulls Reyyan behind him. Another showdown of guns as Firat pulls his and Miran does as well. The chauffer looks sadly at Reyyan, lowers his gun and tells her to run.

They jump in the car as Firat tells them that the rest of the Sadoglu are on their heels and will kill both of them. Azat sees them get away and takes another road to try and intercept them. It is then that Miran starts to get woozy and blood from his gunshot wound begins to pour onto his shirt. Firat is concerned, as is Reyyan. She finds a scarf to try and stop the bleeding. She says that Miran needs to go to the hospital. Miran says no!

We see that Azat has used a dirt road to gain main road access ahead of Firat. He stands outside the vehicle ready to shoot. Firat sees and recognizes Azat, he hits the gas and flies by Azat, missing him by inches. Azat does not shoot because he sees Reyyan in the car. He curses Miran!

Firat says it looks like we have finally lost them but that is not the worst of it, Azize knows everything! He tells Miran that he needs medical attention. Miran says, you know where we need to go Firat! He passes out as Firat looks very concerned especially with his cell phone ringing and ringing. It is Bad Grannie with Esma, Sultana and Gonul looking over her shoulder. Firat does not answer the phone.

Reyyan asks where are they taking her? We realize as Firat drives through Midyat, that he stops in front of the Aslanbey mansion. Firat says, you cannot take her inside. Miran gets that “Miran look,” gets out of the car and opens Reyyan’s door. She refuses to get out of the cars so in Miran fashion he grabs her and pulls her out. She is in immediate pain due to her twisted ankle. He is concerned and picks her up in his arms, against her protests and carries her into the mansion courtyard. (It was almost romantic if this wasn’t all so crazy!).

By this time all the Aslanbey woman have gathered after hearing all the ruckus in the courtyard, Miran and Reyyan and standing inside, Miran looking defiant. Gonul is the first to shout Miran, what are you doing? She goes into an immediate meltdown. Bad Grannie looks surprised but manages to keep her cool.

Reyyan recognized BG and says, you are the one who saved me from the cabin fire and then tossed me out in the middle of the Midyat town square in my wedding dress! Miran looks surprised at this revelation. Reyyan has a flashback to all the mean, nasty things BG said to her. Reyyan says, why did you do that? You just wanted to continue my humiliation. She looks at Miran and says you both are in on this together! Elif, Esma and the other servant look stunned by the level of low BG was willing to go for the venganza.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #10
Part 4

Miran grabs Reyyan’s hand and declares that she will stay here with them until he says otherwise. This is when Gonul really looses it. Reyyan breaks free from Miran and manages to get outside of the mansion, running up the street. Miran, bullet hole and all, chases after her. She tells him that she cannot comprehend what she did to make him hate her and ruin her life! He tells her to calm down, she says she wishes BG had let her burn in the cabin because her life is ruined. Reyyan faints and collapses in his arms.

Firat offers to help carry her, but Miran, bullet hole and all, carries her back into the mansion, up the stairs case and into his bedroom where he places her gently on the bed. Bad Grannie tells all of them watching, my grandson knows what he is doing, I trust him and leaves the scene.

The whole time, Gonul has been chasing after Miran, screaming and yapping like a chihuahua at his heels. (This got very annoying after a bit). She tells everyone how he has never touched her, held her hand or even looked at her. Miran locks the bedroom door, ignores his yappy wife and heads to BG’s room.

Not even bothering to knock, Miran enters her room and demands to know why she dropped Reyyan off in her wedding dress in the town square? He had already humiliated her that morning, there was no need for BG to do more. She disagrees and says remember, the Sadoglu deserve no mercy. They hear Sultana and Esma call out for help, it is Gonul Gone Crazy!

Gonul has taken a knife from the cutting board and tries to get into the bedroom to get at Reyyan. Miran shows up and now Gonul has the knife across her neck, threatening. After a lot of drama, (it is really rather sad to see so I am not covering what was said) Miran tells her that he doesn’t want her to die, they should talk, she is right about the sacrifices, she gives up the knife and he hugs her. She is a mess; Sultana takes her away.

Bad Grannie and Miran share a look, she tells Firat to call the doctor as Miran is bleeding. (It occurred to me that no one has even asked who shot Miran). Miran goes back into the bedroom as Reyyan is sitting up. She tells him she is leaving, he tells her that that a doctor is on the way. Why? she says, is he going to rescue me? Because there is nothing he can do to cure me of you and what you have done. She also, astutely says: I don’t know who that woman you call Abuela is, but she is more dangerous than everyone in this prison! I am leaving.

Miran grabs her arm and says she is staying because she will be killed if she leaves, she has no where to go. Besides your father entrusted me with your life.

Whew, I didn’t even realize I was holding my breath! 😊

Thanks VERY much, VVS, for this superb recap! Reading it was like watching the show, but more fun. I loved your aside, "(Recapper pauses to laugh hysterically at the avocados on this lady!)". Let me assure you that you weren't the only one laughing. And I'm happy to see that in this novela, avocados are an equal opportunity fruit.

Hanife looks like a promising source of comic relief. But, intended or not, last night's parade of characters rushing off in their cars to catch or free Reyyan and Miran also made me laugh. So too all the showdowns at the OK Corral. Is there any male in Midyat who doesn't own a gun?

I've often been amazed at the powers of Telenovela Medicine, but last night's episode may have given away the secret: some seemingly serious wounds are not all that serious after all. Case in point: Miran, "bullet hole and all," picking up Reyyan not just once but twice and carrying her. Never mind that his wound has opened and a short time ago he was dizzy to the point of almost losing consciousness.

I'm glad that Hazar now realizes that Cihan is NOT a loving brother but a jealous conniver with a talent for acting.

I'm not sure what to make of Gonul. Near the end of the episode, in the midst of all her whining and screaming, I think she said something about asking for someone's hand in marriage, but I didn't catch the whole thing. Like you, VVS, I was finding Gonul very tiresome in this scene (indeed, not just in this scene!). Perhaps it will become clear tonight. I hope so, since I'll be recapping. :-)

herc

Fantastic work, VVS! Your recap was SO detailed and full of some great snark as well.

Yep, Hanife does have some big avocados. I doubt Tyrant Nasuh would marry a servant.

This certainly was action packed! And, yes, if this were a regular novela in Spanish, Hazar would have been fooled by Cihan for at least a week. I was SO glad Hazar found out there's another snake in his family.

Come to think of it, the Sadoglu are mostly conniving rats. Hazar appears to be an exception (at least until we find out what happened 27 years ago). Zehra and her daughter don't have the rat blood in them. I keep wondering when and how Miran and BG will realize she's not a blood Sadoglu.

Yes, Gonul was beyond annoying. Why couldn't SHE get a slap?

And, Juanita, loved "Is there any male in Midyat who doesn't have a gun?" Maybe the kindly, bearded guy isn't usually packing!

I have more thoughts; but, since yesterday was a holiday, I'm in the office today.

Thank you Juanita and novelera for reading and commenting on the recap. I was relieved that both of you also found Gonul annoying, especially last night. I get it, she has been sold a story from Bad Grannie about Miran becoming her husband, but she needs some mental health counseling, EQ training or maybe just a good ole telenovela slap! (thanks novelera!).

Juanita: “avocados are an equal opportunity fruit.” Ha-ha, yes, yes they are. Looking forward to your recap, tonight should be interesting.

I think the look of horror on Elif during the Gonul meltdown plus how she already called out BG, might make her a potential ally for Reyyan. We don’t know anything about her, so which one of BG’s offspring is this child from?

novelera: I agree that Nasuh is never going to marry a servant, but I think Hanife is going to go all out to get the old geezer’s attention. The kind gentleman is probably the only man in Midyat not packing!

It will be interesting to see the plot lay out to reveal who did what to who but at this rate, it may take a while. I am fascinated as to how Miran agreed to marry his whinny wife and what role Hazar played in all of this 27 years ago. Clearly, he is not a killer, he couldn’t blow Miran away last night, but Reyyan sure could the episode before!

herc

VVS, I think Hazar might have been capable of shooting Miran, but he promised Sultana that he would spare him if she told him their location (so he could save Reyyan). Sultana wants Miran for Ms. Whiny of Turkey 2021.

Does this make me a bad person? I thought: "OK, go ahead and cut your throat." This would neatly take care of his already having married someone.

Hercai

Thanks so much VVS. Your recap was outstanding. Great comments, Juanita and novelera!

They should change the name to Hercai: Don’t Trust Anyone. This is going way over the top and it’s very entertaining.

I’m beginning to think Turkish Dizi Medicine is crazier than Telenovela Medicine. VVS, you read what happened on Embajador (and thanks for looking at my recap!) I’m bringing my cowhide beanie to Midyat!

Midyat is like the wild west. Do they have any police in town or everyone just takes the law into their own hands?

Hanife and Nasuh? LOL. Maybe she can tame that beast. She certainly has the avocados to do it.

“The whole time, Gonul….screaming and yapping like a chihuahua at his heels.” LOL I cannot stand her.

We had a storm blow through and it's knocked my TV reception out. I hope it's back in time for tonight. At least it's not my recap night.

Thanks again, VVS!

I just saw your post, novelera. If you are bad for thinking Gonul should have used that knife, then I'm bad, too.

dondi356

Hi dondi356. Thanks for the great comments! I also appreciated your comments on Friday regarding my crazy theory that Miran is Hazar’s son. I may have to make a cowhide beanie after Miran’s miraculous recovery from a near point blank shot from an apparent .45 caliber pistol, that should have nearly torn his shoulder off! Perhaps the way Reyyan fired the weapon it just grazed him, but seriously.

I have also had some stormy weather with tons of wind and was dreading that my power would go out, luckily everything stayed put long enough to see, write and post the recap.

dondi356, I am also glad you cannot stand Gonul. I thought I was just being mean.

novelera, I guess I am bad person because I had this in the recap (Oh please Gonul, just end ALL of our misery!) but took it out before I posted because I didn’t want my fellow patio members to be scandalized by my lack of compassion!

Hope your TV reception is back dondi356!

Hercai: Amor y venganza - #11 - p 1 de 3

Reyyan pleads with Miran to let her leave, not to keep her locked up. Miran locks the door and leaves. Reyyan keeps yelling for him to let her out. Gonul hears her yelling. She gets very upset. Bad Grannie comes into Gonul's room. Gonul tells her she can't take this any more. She asks BG whether the plan is now over. BG replies no, this is just the beginning. BG tells her, "I found out something important. That is why I'm letting Reyyan stay." A fed-up Gonul tells BG, "Don't you see that your reign is over? Miran has eyes only for her." Apparently nothing fazes BG. She calmly replies, "We'll use that to our advantage and win." She orders Gonul, "do not upset Miran, stay away from the Sadoglu girl, and say nothing about your marriage."

BG's granddaughter Elif is outside and manages to hear the conversation between Gonul and BG. When BG comes outside, Elif questions her about what's going on. BG simply tells her to stay out of it and go to her room. Elif, however, won't be put off so easily. She's outraged at the way Reyyan has been treated. She tells BG that what she's doing is very cruel, it's beyond revenge. "That girl is innocent. She did nothing wrong. How can you make her pay for her family's sins? You're sinning too, grandma. Don't you think it's too much?" I'm astonished that Elif feels she can speak so critically to BG, but BG doesn't seem to get angry. She simply replies, "They tore my heart out in the past, and I did the same to her. I'll tell you what's too much--losing my children. Your father and Gonul's died accidentally, but Miran's father, your uncle Mehmet, was murdered in cold blood. The father of that girl (Reyyan) killed my beloved son and then dishonored my daughter-in-law. That's what's too much for me. No act of revenge will be enough. My heart will not rest until I wipe out her bloodline (linaje). Never talk to me about this again." Elif doesn't look convinced.

Zehra calls Hazar to tell him that the doctors say Gul can leave the hospital and go home. Zehra then asks about Reyyan. Hazar says he's on his way home, and he'll tell her then.

The thug who GT ordered to kill both Miran and Reyyan tries to explain to an angry GT why he wasn't able to do so. He claims lamely, "they got away," whereas in fact he didn't want to hurt Reyyan and so he let them go. Fortunately for the thug (whose name I don't know), GT gets news that Gul is coming home, and he turns his attention to this. When GT has left, Cihan warns the thug that he knows what really happened.

Firat tells Miran that it's crazy for Reyyan and him to stay at the Aslanbey mansion. People will find out and come after them. Firat has assigned extra men to guard the mansion, but that won't be enough. Miran responds by asking Firat to go to the market and buy some clothes and shoes for Reyyan. Firat is unhappy that Miran isn't taking his advice. As he leaves to do what Miran has asked, Miran calls out Reyyan's shoe size, 37. Firat is surprised that Miran knows this.

Yaren is upset that neither her father nor her brother was able to capture or kill Reyyan. She decides to take matters into her own hands. She calls Firat and tells him she wants to talk about something important. She then hesitates and pretends to back out, claiming that he regards her as an enemy. So of course Firat assures her that he doesn't see her that way. She then suggests that they meet, but somewhere where no one will see them. Firat says he knows a place and will text her. He's also excited that she called him "Firat" (instead of Mr. Firat?).

herc
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #11 - p 2 de 3

Firat has brought clothes and shoes for Reyyan, as Miran had requested. Reyyan doesn't want anything--no clothes, no shoes, just permission to leave. "I want to see my sister. We've never been separated." Miran says no. Why not, asks Reyyan. Miran replies, "They could take you from me." They look at each other. Reyyan does for a moment seem to realize that he cares for her. Miran then says, "Your father entrusted you to me." "But not to lock me up," replies Reyyan. Her words still fall on deaf ears. He leaves and locks the door.

Elif is still concerned about Reyyan. She knocks on the barred window in Reyyan's room. Reyyan opens the window. Elif tells her, "I've just learned what my family did to you. This revenge makes no sense!" "What revenge?" Reyyan asks. Elif hastily says, "I'd better go." She starts to leave. "What revenge?" Reyyan asks again. "What are you talking about?" Elif leaves.

Hazar has joined Zehra at the hospital to take Gul home. Zehra wants to know about Reyyan. Hazar tries to explain that his father was about to arrive at the place at the vineyard where Reyyan and Miran were hiding. He feared that his father would kill both Reyyan and Miran, so he urged them to escape, entrusting Reyyan to Miran's care. Zehra is furious. "You let our daughter go with that evil, unscrupulous man?" Hazar tells her there was no other way. Zehra replies, "You sentenced her to a second death!" Gul calls out "Mama," and that somewhat calms her anger, or at least distracts her.

Miran talks to Esma about Elif. Esma tells him that Elif is very naive. She was raised in a bubble, shielded from all unpleasantness. "How could they tell her about murder and revenge?" Esma asks. She adds, "If something bad were to happen to Elif, it would hurt Azize." (Uh oh, is Elif going to be sacrificed to get back at BG?)

Gul enters the grounds of the Sagodlu compound. She immediately calls for her sister. But instead of Reyyan, it's GT who comes down the stairs to greet her. He picks her up, but she asks him to tell Reyyan and Miran to come. "You can do this," she tells her grandfather. "You're the boss and the cutest grandpa in the world." She asks him if he'd have been upset if she hadn't woken up at the hospital. He replies, "If anything happened to you, I'd be devastated." Gul then tells him, "I'd be very hurt if my sister doesn't come, and you'd be very sad."

Cihan greets Gul and tries to talk to Hazar, but Hazar wants nothing to do with him. Hazar leaves, and Azat accuses Cihan of wanting to hurt Reyyan. Cihan tells Azat to get over his infatuation with Reyyan. "Reyyan is not part of our family." Azat insists to his father, "You're not going to hurt her!" Cihan asks whether Azat wants him to go against the wishes of Nasuh. That really sets Azat off. "You've sold your soul because of him? Grandpa has always ignored you. No matter what you do, you'll always be his lapdog. At least Grandpa has two sons, you have only one: me! Don't ignore me the way Grandpa ignores you!"

Yaren meets Firat at some out of the way place. She thanks him for not seeing her as an enemy. She claims to be very worried about Reyyan. Firat assures her that Miran and Reyyan are fine. She asks where they are. He tells her they're at the Aslanbey mansion. She asks him to take her there. She wants to see Reyyan. He says he's sorry, but he can't do that. She "cries" and claims that "Reyyan is like a sister to me." Firat says this doesn't make sense. She was upset when Miran chose Reyyan, and now she's crying about her.

herc
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #11 - p 3 de 3

Without a moment's hesitation, Yaren claims that she never wanted to marry Miran, GT was forcing her to marry him. What upset her was not that Miran chose Reyyan, but the awkward public position that put her in. All she wants is Reyyan's happiness. Firat then reveals that Miran couldn't marry Reyyan because he was married to Gonul. He then quickly adds, "No one knows about this, and no one will." (Yeah, right.) Yaren assures him not to worry, he has her word. (No, what he has is a big mouth and a small brain.)

Cihan yells at Handan because Azat was disrespectful to him (and it's her fault?). Handan merely smiles. She then tells him that if he hasn't been able to find out where Miran and Reyyan are, she could call her (Handan's) father, and he could find out very quickly. (I have no idea who her father is, what he does, what magical powers he has, etc.) Cihan leaves the room, and Handan refers to him as a useless good-for-thing.

Reyyan is still wondering about Elif's remarks concerning revenge. Esma enters, bringing some food for Reyyan. Reyyan claims she's not hungry. Esma comments on how pretty Reyyan is. She says she wasn't blessed with a daughter, but if she had a daughter, she'd like her to be like Reyyan. Esma remarks sympathetically that Reyyan has been hurt by so many. She urges Reyyan to eat and be strong. Reyyan asks, "What do they want from me?" Esma tells her, "I raised Miran like my own. I know him well. In 30 years, I've never seen him anger or hurt anyone. And I've never seen him look at anyone else the way he looks at you." Reyyan asks, "Then why is he doing this to me?" Esma tells her, "Things aren't what you think. The truth will be revealed at the appropriate time. But right now, no one will answer your questions." Esma then tells Reyyan her name, and that if there's anything Reyyan needs, let her know. Reyyan immediately asks whether she can use Esma's phone to talk to her sister. Esma turns her down. "I'm sorry, I can't, I'd get in trouble." At that moment, Miran enters the room.

When Esma and Miran leave the room, he asks for her key. He tells her that he wants to hold all the keys. Through the window, he then watches Reyyan reluctantly eating some of the food Esma brought. She starts to cry. "What am I going to do? I have no one. God help me, I can't do this." Miran looks concerned.

Gul doesn't want to eat until her sister is present. Her mother and some servants try to tempt her with foods that she likes. She even turns down her favorite pudding. Then one of the servants offers her milk in her favorite bottle. She's excited to see the bottle, but she declares, "I don't want the bottle. I want my sister!"

Cihan tells his father that the lawyers are still looking for weaknesses in the contract. They haven't found any yet, but they're continuing to look. He tells his father, "If they can't find any, we're done for."

Yaren bursts into the room and announces, "They deceived us more than we knew! Miran was already married...to that Gonul." Everyone looks stunned, as the episode ends.

Excellent recap Juanita! I admire how you are able to get these done so quickly and so full of detail.

So we learned a few things last night. Bad Grannie’s two sons died in separate accidents and she actually has tear ducts.

We also got a chance to see a brief picture of Miran and his mother, plus Esma told Reyyan that she took care and raised him for the 30 years of his life. He looks to be about 3 years old in the picture so the 27-year timeline makes sense now. Miran called Esma, “Nana Esma” and that would explain his affection for her and Firat.

Ugh Firat! (No, what he has is a big mouth and a small brain.) What a blabber mouth! You have to give Yaren credit, she used her womanly wiles well against this easy push-over. I did find his exasperation with Miran funny for actually knowing Reyyan’s shoe size.

I hope Elif isn’t used as a pawn in this venganza because it sounds like this is just getting started according to BG. I doubt that Gonul will be able to keep her whinny self quiet.

At least Esma was kind to Reyyan.

Juanita, wasn’t Handan’s father the guy who made the marriage deal for Yaren in the first few episodes and he was the one who got upset with Nasuh when Sultana asked for Reyyan’s hand in marriage and not Yaren’s? I don’t think we know much more about him though.

Time for work, thanks again Juanita!

VVS and Juanita, thank you so much for such splendid and entertaining retellings of all the exasperating events.

Ep. 9

I have to go agree that some of these events can be humorous too, such us the drawing of guns at every chance they get and OMGoodness, Hanife wanting to marry Nasuh...what is wrong with her??? Does she really "want to tame that beast?" (thanks, dondi356)

I also have to agree with Juanita regarding the powers of TN Medicine, re: "Miran's "bullet hole and all," picking up Reyyan not just once but twice and carrying her" and they didn"t even have to wrap him in cowhide! (Those watching "Embajador" will get this :-)

I don't know baout anyone else, but I LOVE Hazar's eyes. When he drew the gun on Miran, his eyes were especially mesmerizing. I don't think he changed his mind abot shooting Miran becasue of his promise to Sultana. I think that he just didn't want to kill again..and Miran is the son of the woman he loved. In addition to that, Miran jump from the bridge to save Reyyan. OR maybe (based on previous theories) maybe he felt the "call of the blood??"

Novelera, I must be a bad person too. When Gonul had the knife at her throat, I kept saying "Do it! Do it!" :-D

Ep 10

Well, thanks to preemptions on Univision, I was able to watch this live.

Before it slips my mind (easy to do LOL), the thug's/chaufeur's name is Riza.

On Firat, the parrot, "...what he has is a big mouth and a small brain." Geez Louise! He sure fired his mouth off, didn't he!? I really thought he was so much smarter than to be swayed by the likes of Yaren. What a let down! this is really gonne bite him in the butt.

VVS, "I hope Elif isn’t used as a pawn in this venganza... " Oh, I really hope not! She's the only Aslanbey with a conscience, though I'm really surprised that BG sheilded her from all the hate and resentment. Maybe bewteen Elif and Esma, Reyyan will have a bit of peace of mind.

I too enjoyed seeing the picture of Miran with his mother, such a contrast from the pic of Miran with BG (cold...freezing cold!)

And why does Azat always look so frumpled? Those bags under his eyes seem to be getting bigger...does he ever sleep? Does anyone ever sleep...or work? BTW have we been told what kind of business the two families are into? Where does all the money come from? Old money???

I'm full of questions today :-)

herc

Thanks VERY much, VVS and Rgv Chick, for your excellent, helpful comments.

VVS, yes, we learn that BG actually has tear ducts. She sure kept them well hidden! Thanks immensely for putting together Esma's saying she has known Miran for 30 years, having raised him from the time he was 3, and BG's 27-year wait for vengeance. That really helps pull everything together! And thanks, too, for reminding me about Handan's father. To be honest, I didn't remember the details you've provided.

Rgv Chick, I'm glad you were able to watch last night's episode "live." I always enjoy your comments. I agree about Hazar's wonderfully expressive eyes. I agree too about Gonul. Definitely add me to the "bad people" club! And thanks for reminding me that the kindly thug's name is Riza.

It may be that one reason Firat was taken in by Yaren has to do with class. Firat is the son of a servant, and we see that he's thrilled when Yaren calls him by his first name, which apparently indicates closeness. Of course, her good looks also help. Sigh.

herc

Thanks so much, Juanita. Terrific recap! Yep, the plot definitely curdles.

I noticed Firat giving Yaren admiring looks on two other occasions. So it was pretty easy for her to flatter him into saying things he didn't want to say.

Not sure how the Sadoglu knowing Miran was already married would change how they individually feel about what happened. Yaren didn't like that much. And they already knew that the "wedding" was fake.

Gul, of course, cannot continue to refuse food. She's too young to pull off a hunger strike. But she has put some dents in GT by asking over and over again for her sister.

I hope they don't wait until the end to find out what really happened with Miran's father and Hazar.

Hercai

Just finished watching the ep. Thanks for the fabulous recap, Juanita! And great comments from everyone! "Yep, the plot definitely curdles", def, novelera!

Yaren is a snake. Does she realize what she escaped by not “marrying” Miran? Regarding Firat, the guy with “a big mouth and a small brain” (love it!), I think it’s just the fact that she got “familiar” with him and dropped the “bey”.

VVS, you’re right about Handan’s father and we don’t know much about him.

Not clear on this, did Bad Grannie have 3 children? She explained to Elif, “Your father and Gonul's died accidentally, but Miran's father, your uncle Mehmet, was murdered in cold blood.” Are Elif, Gonul and Miran all cousins or is there a sibling pair among them?

Rgv Chick, keepin’ the theory alive!— “OR maybe (based on previous theories) maybe he felt the "call of the blood??"” Really liking Azat, regardless of his “frumpled” look.

Okay, so we all know we are bad people. We are in good company.

Thanks very much, novelera, for your insightful comments. I agree it's not clear how Yaren's dramatic disclosure about Miran's marriage to Gonul will change things for the Sadoglu. As you note, they already know that the marriage between Miran and Reyyan was a fake. As far as I can see, Miran's marriage to Gonul simply adds another bit of insult, something likely to further enrage the already enraged GT.

Gul certainly is stubborn, but I hope we're soon done with the hunger strike. I wonder whether it will be GT who convinces her to eat. I hope not!

And yes, Telemundo is usually pretty good about not dragging mysteries out for months, though what happened between Miran's father and Hazar is seemingly so central that it may remain a mystery for longer than usual.

Herc

What great comments all! Glad to be part of the good company of bad people! (thanks dondi356)

RGV Chick, I think the Sadoglu and Aslanbey clans do come from old money with the Aslanbey having more of it. Part of the venganza was the business partnership of the hotel in Midyat that uses to be an old home of the Sadoglu. With the Sadoglu investing everything they had, now the Aslanbey have the upper hand from a money perspective. I am sure there are other business, we just haven’t been privy to anything other than honor killings.

Firat gave Yaren his number the night of the fake wedding, after he returned her bracelet and right before poor Gul was shot. She is so phony and he so gullible.

dondi356, from what I have understood so far, Bad Grannie had 3 sons. Miran, Gonul and Elif are all cousins, at least on the outside. Who knows the inner DNA workings of those offspring, hope some info is revealed soon. We know Sultana is Gonul’s mother, Miran’s mother is dead and so is Elif’s mother I am guessing. We haven’t heard anything about who or where she is.

I have a little bit of extra time tomorrow morning, so I will do a mini-recap of tonight’s episode.

Hercai

Thanks Juanita, and the recapping team for these recaps! It has been a while since I watched a novela on primetime or been on this site but im liking this novela so decided to join the fun :)

gonul is delusional, which is too bad for miran. i can only imagine how hard it is going to be to divorce her. shes going to be clinging to him with all her strength.

ayy firat, i was hoping u were smarter! I do not want to see yaren wrap u around her finger, and get information from you!!

thankfully esma and elif are there for reyyan because it seems like her suffering is not over.

klc

Welcome, kic!!! So glad you’re joining in the fun! Looking forward to more comments from you.

Yup, delusional and clingy perfectly describes Gon-coocoo...ooh I’m gonna have fun coming up with names for her LOL

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #12
Part 1

Yaren continues her story of the further humiliation of the Sadoglu family as all of Midyat is talking about how the Aslanbey have now take Reyyan prisoner in their mansion. Azat is incensed and heads out rescue her, but Cihan and Grampa Tyrant forbid him. GT suddenly grabs his own throat as if in pain (come on stroke!). Hanife is quick to pour him a glass of water and everyone turns their attentions to GT who (unfortunately) recovers quickly and sends them all away.

Handan chases after Azat and forbids him from dishonoring the family more by bringing Reyyan back to their home. She threatens to disown him if leaves and even turns her back on him. He cannot tolerate this and ends up staying.

Zehra is listening to the conversation from the kitchen and overhears that Reyyan is a prisoner in the Aslanbey mansion. She confronts Azat who tells her it is true. Zehra rushes out of the mansion and demands that Riza (thank you RGV Chick) tell her where the Aslanbey mansion is located.

In what has become a habit, Miran is staring lovingly at the beautiful, but VERY heavy sleeper, Reyyan. He moves to touch her face with his finger but ends up stroking her hair. This is interrupted by the very brave Zehra who is outside of the Aslanbey mansion, surrounded by goons, yelling at the top of her lungs for Reyyan.

Reyyan finally wakes and recognizes her mother’s voice. She pleads with Miran to release her and let her go. Zehra’s cries summon the whole Aslanbey household who gather, some in horror, from the cries of this desperate mother. Miran locks Reyyan back in the room and heads down to face Zehra. Reyyan opens the window and screams for her mother to rescue her.

Only Sultana and Azize are not moved by this painful, valiant effort of Zehra. Miran faces Zehra and her wrath. She hauls off and smacks him a good one (this is four consecutive episodes of some resounding well-deserved, slaps). The stoic Miran says nothing and allows no one else to either, as Zehra curses him, berates him and demands he release her daughter. She grabs him by the shirt and pushes him against the wall. This is when Firat finally steps in. Zehra is quick to grab his pistol and point it at Miran (like mother like daughter).

Miran finally shows anger and tells her to shoot him (be careful what you ask for) but if she kills him, there is no one who can keep Reyyan alive. Miran explains that Hazar knew to allow Miran to save Reyyan, because Nasuh would not be able to get to her in the Aslanbey mansion. He assures Zehra that he will keep Reyyan alive and that she is fine. (Reyyan continues to scream for her mother from inside the mansion so this is hard for anyone to believe that she is “fine”). She drops the gun, curses the Aslanbey to eternal damnation and slowly leaves the premises. (Wow, what a scene!).

Inside the courtyard, it is clear that all, except Azize, Sultana and Gonul are clearly shaken. Elif pleads with Bad Grannie to let Reyyan go. Firat wipes away a tear. With a look from Miran, everyone returns back to their rooms, BG tell him to shut Reyyan up.

Firat tells Miran that it breaks his heart to see Reyyan like this. The split personality Miran hisses that no one had pity on his parents and he heads back up to Reyyan’s cell, um, room. Reyyan asks him where is her mother? He proceeds to again tell Reyyan that there is no place safe for her from Nasuh. Zehra understood this and left her with him. Reyyan is heartbroken that he didn’t let her see her mother and stands firm that her parents will return for her.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #12
Part 2

Reyyan berates Miran for his cruelty until he cannot take it anymore, loses his temper and tells her that she is safe only with him. Reyyan mentions that Azat will come for her and the fact that he would never kill her because he…He What? hisses Miran. Reyyan smartly moves off that sensitive area and tells Miran to leave her alone, he angrily obliges as a loud clap of thunder seemingly intensifies the storm to come.

Zehra and Hazar have another heartbreaking conversation. Hazar at least seems a bit mortified that he has caused this anguish. Zehra says the only reason she left Reyyan in that Patan’s hands was because she had no safe place to take her and did not want to be on the run without Gul. Later, Zehra convinces Hazar to make a plan to rescue Reyyan and move far, far away.

Handan corners Yaren and demands to know where she got the information about Reyyan being a prisoner of the Aslanbey and Miran being married to Gonul. When Yaren gets sassy, Handan knocks her to the bed and reminds her that she was the one who dishonored the Sadoglu family, not Reyyan. When Handan leaves the room, she tells Yaren not to make an enemy out of her.

Unfazed, Yaren schemes to get rid of Reyyan and Gonul so she can finally marry Miran. Delusional much Yaren? She is quick to text the clearly twitterpated Firat and asks if he can set up a meeting with her and Miran. He is happy to oblige.

On her way out of Yaren’s room, Handan encounters Hanife who reminds her that she promised to help her become Mrs. Nasuh. Handan tells her that there is so much going on, Nasuh doesn’t have time for a woman! Hanife rethreatens with spilling the beans about Yaren.

Miran is sitting outside in the courtyard thinking about Reyyan’s words regarding Azat. Miran is clearly jealous. Firat joins him, asking how he is doing and telling Miran that he warned him that falling in love with Reyyan was dangerous. Miran denies being in love with her (whatever Miran), that he just doesn’t think she should have been humiliated in that way and says the storm is only going to get worse not better. He agrees with Firat’s request on behalf of Yaren to meet with her.

In the Aslanbey dining room, the two vipers are the only ones hungry. Azize asks Sultana where everyone else is. Sultana tells her they all have problems to worry about and were not hungry. Sultana tells Azize that the Sadoglu are not going to rest knowing Reyyan is there and that they will attack Azize in her most vulnerable area. What is that? says Azize. Elif, says Sultana. For a moment, Azize does look worried. Sultana says, you cannot keep her identity hidden for long, they will learn who she is. Azize smiles a scary smile and says if they do happen to encounter Elif, Azize will pass her off as Esma’s daughter. Sultana looks stunned. (Something is going on here and I am not sure what. Who is Elif?).

We see the slippers and pajamas of a women entering Miran’s bedroom as he sleeps and takes the key to Reyyan’s room out of his pants pocket. The woman (come on Gonul, we all know it is you) opens the door and enters her room. A heavy sleeping Reyyan does not hear anything until Gonul grabs a pillow and proceeds to try and suffocate her. Reyyan is able to move around enough to fall out of the bed as Gonul rushes out of the room. Reyyan screams for help. Miran awakens to her screams and rushes to her room. A terrified Reyyan flings herself into his arms crying and afraid. He is surprised but clearly enjoys the moment. Then asks, what happened? She explains that someone tried to smother her with a pillow. She doesn’t know who. By this time the whole family is up and surrounding the room. Sultana sees Gonul standing alone trembling.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #12
Part 3

Azize enters Reyyan’s room and Reyyan accuses her of trying to kill her. Azzie says that is ridiculous as she saved her from the cabin fire. They have a bit of a heated exchange, where Elif hears more about her BG’s evilness. Miran stops the conversation by telling everyone to leave the area. He asks Keriman (the kitchen servant) to get the guards, Firat and to check his pants pocket for the key to the room. Sultana tries to say that clearly it was the Sadoglu who tried to kill her since Miran has the only key to the room.

Keriman finds the key to Reyyan’s room in Miran’s pants pocket. We then see a flash back of Sultana taking the key from crazy Gonul’s robe pocket and returning it to the back pocket of Miran’s pants. BG witnesses the whole exchange while everyone else is distracted with Reyyan.

Back to the present, Miran says, it is not the Sadoglu. We all know who it is, looking directly at the guilty Gonul. Who? Who is it? Demands Reyyan.

We have to wait until tonight to see if Miran tosses Gonul under the bus!

OT
Welcome rlc to this great patio of folks. This novela is excellent. Glad you are joining us!

MANY THANKS, VVS, for this marvellous "quick" recap. It may have been quick, but it certainly is complete. And delightful, with snarky asides and descriptions such as "(come on stroke!)," "The split personality Miran," and "the clearly twitterpated Firat."

There sure are a lot of Evil Women in this novela. I can't decide which of them is the most cunning and capable. Azize, Sultana, Yaren, and Handan come immediately to mind. No, not Gonul, in spite of her lame attempt to kill Reyyan. Gonul is evil, but not all that capable, IMHO. BTW, I love your referring to Azize as Azzie. Whether deliberate or a typo, it serves to diminish her, make her seem less formidable. She is formidable, of course, and we can't stop her, but at least we can flip her off as Azzie or BG.

I've noticed that there seem to be no deaf or hard-of-hearing characters in this novela. That doesn't surprise me. When I think about how much important information is obtained by overhearing conversations, being deaf or hard of hearing can be a serious threat to one's survival.

The mystery of Elif thickens. I was about to offer a totally off-the-wall hypothesis about her, but even I have enough sanity to recognize the absurdity of what I was thinking, so I guess I'll just have to be patient. I do hope she survives.

Herc

Thanks Juanita! I am glad you enjoyed the recap. I should have hyphened Azz-ie so it didn’t look like a typo and was certainly meant as diss to the evil one!

Oh please do share your “totally off-the-wall hypothesis” regarding Elif! I am all ears!

herc

I would also like to welcome klc to our Turkish patio. Enjoyed your comment and hope to hear more from you.

VVS, you are SUCH a trouper. Two fine recaps in one week! And I also loved "come on stroke". They keep teasing us with his moments of weakness but...so far the SOB keeps ruling everything and everyone around him.

I'd like to comment that I don't think Riza is that bad of a guy. I think he's sort of a long-term family retainer. They've shown him several times being sympathetic. He wasn't about to shoot Reyyan. He was overjoyed when Gul came home. And he also IIRC was sympathetic, at least in his facial expressions, to Zehra.

Interesting that they had a convenient barred room in which to house Reyyan.

I am also quite curious about Elif. Up until last night, I just thought she was just a cousin of Miran and Gonul. But there is something else going on here.

I found Reyyan's difficulty in getting away from Gonul a bit odd. We've seen villains smother people many times. But it's either always a man or the person being smothered is feeble and/or on life support. I would suspect Reyyan, riding that spirited horse, to be strong enough to push her away immediately.

I am looking forward to the Yaren/Miran scene.

FINALLY...Zehra suggests that they leave the House of Horrors run by the Tyrant. I doubt it will happen because Telenovela Rules usually insist that the people being insulted and mentally tortured remain in the same place.

Herc

Thank you novelera for the interesting take on Reyyan not being able to just kick some Gonul butt right away, I had not thought about it like that and just attributed the initial success to Reyyan’s heavy sleeping style and getting caught off guard!

I think you are right that Riza just plays a bad guy for work, but really is a kind person. He hasn’t been overly thrilled by some of those tasks he has been given.

So glad that Zehra convinced Hazar to leave. I am not sure they will be successful, but at least it is something positive.

I took a lesson out of your generous time playbook novelera, you did almost all the Wednesday recaps for Loli. If I have the time, I have enjoyed doing the Wednesday recap. This TN is too good not to have a daily recap and discussion!

Herc

Very grateful for your not so mini recap, VVS, beautifully written, with great snark.

It’s kinda creepy how Miran stares at Reyyan.

Handan screamed at Azat “analik hakkimi helal etmem sana!” This always stops the Turks in their tracks. She won’t give him helal. They usually translate it to “blessing”. It’s kinda like she won’t forgive any wrongs be they intentional or unintentional and it will follow him into the afterlife. It’s serious stuff.

Oh, how I laughed when Zehra pulled that gun on Miran. That scene was great. Good old fashioned Turkish melodrama! It’s very addictive and custom made for snark.

Someone please pass that knife back to Gonul.

Juanita, please share your “totally off-the-wall hypothesis”!

I agree with novelera, it won’t be easy to escape the Sadoglu konak (mansion).

Welcome klc. You picked a good one!

dondi356

Herc

Wow, thank you dondi356 for that explanation of what Handan said to Azat, I knew it was something important! So grateful to have you with us on this one. I am totally hooked on all the Turkish melodrama!

It is a bit creepy how Miran stares at Reyyan but more so because she sleeps right through it! I am a very light sleeper, so I don’t even know how that is possible to have some stare and touch you and not wake up!

Yes, give Gonul that knife back, please lol.
