Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #15
Part 1
Reyyan asks Miran, who is Gonul? Miran responds, she is the daughter of my Uncle. Reyyan asks what other lies have you told me? The false wedding, your mother is not Sultan, what more? I can’t deal with your lies. Reyyan storms up the stairs to her room
Miran and Gonul exchange heavy looks, Miran head out of the konak to “work.”
Elif flings herself into a chair and joins Bad Grannie in the sitting room where Esma is attending her with a cup of coffee. BG and Esma exchange puzzled looks. BG asks, what is wrong Elif? Why the long face? A snarky Elif says “What? Now I can’t make faces? It bothers you? From one day to the next I moved to Midyat, there is a poor girl being held hostage in our home, you are passing me off as Esma’s daughter and now the new maid Sehriyar is insulting me?
Esma is mortified and wants to immediately speak with Sehriyar. Elif tells her not to because it isn’t her fault that BG is lying about Elif’s heritage. BG tells her that she is doing this to protect Elif and all she has ever done has been to protect this family.
Elif fires back, from what? I listen to you and it gives me chills! Who is going to protect us from you? You have done so many bad things! You forced Gonul to ask for another woman’s hand in marriage to her husband, you have turned Miran into a heartless individual full of hate for a venganza. All I hear is venganza, venganza! What else have you done BG? Tell me!
Predictably, these comment causes a very bad reaction from Bad Grannie. Standing and spilling her coffee, she chastises Elif for speaking to her in that manner saying everything she has done has a good reason. Not wanting to hear more, Elis turns heel and begins to storm out. BG says, where are you going? Elif stops and says back to my cell! I am sure my “momma” Esma will bring my breakfast to my room!
BG tells Esma, what is wrong with her? She has kept quiet for years and now she is so rebellious! She is going to ruin everything I have done to date!
In the car, (with a very distracting windshield window crack), Miran sees to be feeling ill and starts to hyperventilate. He tells Firat to pull over. Miran gets out of the car and has a full-fledged meltdown on the Turkish road side. He yells as if in pain. Firat is clearly concerned asking what if Miran is okay? No! Yells Miran. I am not good at all! Why don’t I feel better? I didn’t not think this would happen. I lost; I am lost!
Firat says, I don’t understand, I don’t know how to help you. Miran says, all that hate that I had inside is dissolving and I don’t know how to deal with what I am now feeling. Every time I say or do something cruel or lie to Reyyan, her innocent look is like a stab in the heart. It makes everything hurt. I have never felt like this in my whole life. I have never felt so weak, ever!
Firat, ever the optimist, tries to calm Miran down, saying things will get better and they will figure everything out. Miran says that nothing will ever be the same again. Reyyan will never forgive him for what he has done to her. She will never look at me the way she first did. She doesn’t even know half of the lies; she will never be okay. Firat says, now I understand, you regret doing all these things for venganza, right my friend? A very pained Miran doesn’t respond and then says let’s keep going, we are going to be late. Firat stands looking pensive before heading to the car.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #15
Part 2
Viper #3, Gonul takes a call. Guess who? It is Yaren wanting to meet with her to plan how to remove Reyyan from the Aslanbey so her brother, who is totally in love with Reyyan can be happy. Don’t you want your husband back? asks the oh so innocent sounding Yaren. At first Gonul is hesitant, but realizes that she must join forces with the enemy to get Reyyan out and Miran back. She agrees to meet Yaren in person later in the day. How Yaren thinks she is going to get Miran is beyond me.
At the Sadoglu konak, breakfast is going on with Grampa Tyrant looking ill, Hazar sad and Cihan clueless. Handan is stuffing her face when in runs adorable Gul. She brightens up the room as she sits down saying that she is starving and plans to eat and eat until her belly is as round as pigs! Everyone is surprised that her hunger strike is over. In walks Zehra, happy to see Gul eating and asks what changed? You said you would not eat until you saw your sister, Reyyan. Gul confirms that she did see her sister, last night when she came to visit with Miran. Surprised looks around the table, except for GT. Cihan tells Gul that certainly it was a dream. Nope, says Gul they were both here thanks to the best Grandpa in the whole wide world. Tell them Gramps! GT tells Melike to take Gul to the kitchen to eat and to close the door.
Zehra demands to know if it is true that Reyyan was in the house. GT confirms that Reyyan came into the house like a criminal with Miran the enemy, in the middle of the night. He tells how Gul’s sudden arrival kept him from killing both Reyyan and Miran. Zehra is angry that GT didn’t save Reyyan from Miran. GT counters with he let her “filthy” daughter live! She should be grateful, not asking for explanations and demands that Zehra leave immediately. A stunned Hazar follows.
Cihan takes a call from the family lawyer who informs him that the Aslanbey wish to have a directors meeting today.
Zehra and Hazar are in the bedroom talking. Zehra says her heart is breaking and wants to leave as soon as possible. Hazar just looks dazed and confused. Cihan interrupts by knocking on the door to speak with Hazar. He informs Hazar that the Aslanbey want to meet right away and Hazar needs to be there. Hazar refuses at first but then gives in after Cihan pleads that he must attend being the older brother, whose signature is on all the documents and so GT will not be angry with Cihan.
GT asks Cihan where the meeting is to be held? Cihan says in the town of Yeris, because the Sadoglu won’t meet just anywhere. GT gives his approval. A reluctant Hazar shows up as Hanife serves a scowling Handan coffee and pastries. GT says let’s go. To everyone’s surprise (including all of Viewerville!) a cleaned up and semi-handsome Azat comes down the staircase saying he will also attend the meeting. He is met with approval from GT, Handan, Cihan and a smiling Yaren from the second story. Apparently, he decided to finally join the family business.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #15
Part 3
An anxious Reyyan is pacing in her cell/room remembering the words from Miran about her father and how she doesn’t know what he is capable of. She recalls Miran telling her that she would have to stay there in the Aslanbey konak whether she liked it or not. She decides that she cannot stay anywhere that he father is constantly disrespected. She heads out the door, down the stairs and tries to leave through the front gate. She is stopped by the guards who tell her she is not allowed to leave without permission. Reyyan raises a huge commotion that brings out all the Aslanbey and staff to the courtyard.
Viper #2, Sultana, tells Reyyan that she is not free to leave. Reyyan shoots back that none of them want her there so just let her go. Viper #2 says everyone can come and go including the house servants, the cats, the dogs, but not Reyyan. She is no one. Viper #2 tells the guards that Reyyan is going nowhere, she is not allowed to leave.
Reyyan tells Sultana aren’t you ashamed of what you have done? Aren’t you the least bit embarrassed by your lies? What have I done? She responds. Reyyan says you are as shameless as you are stupid. You joined Miran’s evil plan! You are a woman with a daughter. Aren’t you the least bit ashamed of hurting another woman in this manner? For a spilt second, Sultana does look ashamed but then says, all I have done I did for my daughter!
Reyyan responds saying and what exactly will your daughter gain from all of this? Sultana says, you have no idea what you are talking about. My daughter is…before Viper #2 can spill the beans, Viper #3 stops her from telling Reyyan the truth. Viper #3 says, let her leave! Viper #2 says if we do, Miran will not forgive us! Reyyan tries to make a break for it again but Sultana tells the guards to take her upstairs to her room. The guard grabs her by the arm and manhandles Reyyan up the stairs. Reyyan yells to let her go!
All the staff follow the Vipers upstairs except for Elif, who sees that the front gate is wide open and unattended. She says to herself that she cannot continue supporting this, the family is going to drive her crazy! She escapes out the open gate and heads down the alleyway. Sehriyar is the only one who stays and watches everything that is going on, including seeing Elif leave through the front gate.
The guard tosses Reyyan back in her room and locks the door. (Where did he get the key? I thought Reyyan and Miran were the only two with a key?). Sultana demands the key and tells everyone to go back to work. Viper #2 and #3 conspire to figure out how to get rid of Reyyan but not by letting her escape. Viper #2 says that if they do that, Miran will chase after Reyyan and that would make matters worse. Viper #3 does not look too convinced and as her mother walks away, she receives a message from Yaren with a meeting location and vows to get rid of Reyyan sooner than her mother.
Esma and Keriman look miserable in the kitchen listening to poor Reyyan scream for them to let her go. Keriman wonders if Miran is aware of them locking her up? Esma says she doesn’t know, but if they tell him Sultana will kill them (I think she means this literally).
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #15
Part 4
In a scene straight out of Chisme HQ (aka: Global Radio), Sehriyar comes into the kitchen wanting to know what is going on with everyone in this house? She asks if Sra. Azize doesn’t remind them of a Sphinx? Every time she sees her, she thinks of a Sphinx, in fact Azize has become part of her nightmares! When chastised by Esma for talking about Sra. Azize, Sehriyar goes to ask about Sultana and Gonul. Don’t they remind you of the demons from horror stories? A smile passes between Esma and Keriman. Esma and Keriman scold her again.
Okay, okay she says. Now let me change subjects and talk about Sr. Miran. Now that man lights my heart on fire! If he were a meteor, I would want him to fall on me and never get up! Of course, with her back to the door, as Sehriyar is swooning over Miran, in walks Viper #2. Esma and Keriman are not able to clue her in as she continues her comments about Miran, finally she sees Sultana. Sultana demands a cup of coffee and tells Sehriyar to use her hands more and her tongue less. (I think Sehriyar is a Turkish cousin to Lupe, they even look alike). See! says Sehriyar, that woman is like a demon, she can even walk-through walls! I think I need a pay raise! My life is in danger working here.
The Sadoglu men arrive through one side of the meeting place while Miran and Firat arrive through another. Miran indicates with his hand that they should be seated. Hazar confronts Miran saying I understand you took my daughter to our home last night. Yes, says Miran, she wanted to see her sister. You owe Hazar a debt of gratitude says GT to Miran for me not killing both of you because Gul showed up. The Mean Miran says, it wasn’t because of Gul that you didn’t kill us but because you didn’t have the avocados to do so!
Tempers flare, but Cihan is able to calm his family down to stay focused on business and not talk about Reyyan. Hazar tells Miran that he will come for his daughter! Miran can’t help but get one more dig in saying that Reyyan is safest with him.
GT tosses an agreement to Miran saying what is this? Miran says it is their legal withdrawal from the project. Hazar tell him that clearly financial ruin was always his plan right? Miran had them borrow money to purchase the land and now without a deal, the bank wants the money back. Not my problem says Miran. Do you want heads to roll or a bloodbath says Hazar? Miran says whatever happens will happen but it won’t be my blood or head. Azat can’t stand it anymore and stands for another OK Corral showdown. Once again Cihan plays peacemaker as Firat and Azat re-holster their pistols.
Just at that moment, in walks Azize with her Hunky Bar bodyguard. Nasuh tries to insult her by asking if she is lost, go home, this a meeting of men. Miran informs him that Azize is now the President of the Executive board and that will be how it is moving forward.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #15
Part 5
In short (as I am running out of time to finish this recap), Azize tells Nasuh that she is willing to pay off the $100 million dollar debt at the bank IF Nasuh personally turns over the keys to the Sadoglu konak. Nasuh tells her to get bent. As she leaves, she tells Firat to have the attorney’s start the process and when Miran asks why take the mansion? She says that the Sadoglu konak is what Nasuh prizes the most. She wants to ruin them! Nasuh tells his family that she doesn’t just want their home, she is hiding something.
Azat gets a call from Yaren demanding that he meet her at the address she is about to send him in an hour. Don’t be late!
Reyyan is furiously desperate, locked in her room and begins yelling again to be let out! She destroys the room, knocking off photos and pulling down drapes. Esma and Keriman are besides themselves listening to her outside the door. Finally, Esma calls Firat. He puts her on speaker phone and tells Miran about Reyyan’s hysteria about being locked up. Miran is furious and tells Firat to head home immediately.
Viper #2 is sitting in the patio drinking coffee as Viper #3 tells her she is going out for some fresh air.
On the streets of Midyat, Elif is wondering aimlessly thinking about all the awful things she has heard Reyyan. Miran and BG say. Completely distracted, she is nearly run over by none other than Azat on his way to meet Yaren and Gonul. He is gracious and offers to take her to the hospital as she seems very discombobulated. She sits down on a fountain and Azat continues to the meeting place with Yaren.
Still calmly drinking her coffee, Viper #2 hears the screeching of tires outside of the konak. In screeches a furious Miran demanding to know why she locked up Reyyan and making it crystal clear that he gives the orders around the house especially when it comes to Reyyan. Viper #2 says she doesn’t understand who this woman is to make Miran speak to her in that manner. Miran demands the key to the room and heads up.
He finds Reyyan crying on the floor, Esma and Keriman follow him in, very concerned. When he tries to help Reyyan up from the floor she winces and he sees the bruising on her arm from being grabbed by the guard. He asks what happened and Esma tells him about the manhandling. He can barely contain his anger. He tells Keriman to get Reyyan’s jacket out of the closet. Without hesitation he takes her by the hand and she doesn’t resist (progress!).
He demands that all the guards come to the courtyard immediately and tells them all off for the way Reyyan was treated saying once again that only he has decision making authority over her. Reyyan is surprised by his words, especially after the guard who her Reyyan identifies himself and Miran viciously and cruelly twists his wrist. He only stops at Reyyan’s pleas.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #15
Part 6
He tells them that no one is to touch or even look at Reyyan or he will fire all of them. He takes her hand and walks out of the konak. Firat, Esma and Keriman all look rather proud of Miran. Sultana looks disgusted and Lupe, I mean, Sehriyar looks like she hit the chisme jackpot!
Miran drives as Reyyan cries uncontrollably. He pleads with her to stop crying and stops the car so she can wash her face. Reyyan says, all I dreamed about was getting out of that house. A month ago, that dream came true and now it is a nightmare! I ask myself, how could it have gotten so bad so fast? At least I had my father to hug me, my mother to call me “my Hita” and my Gul. Now, I have no one, I am floating in the abyss alone. I didn’t know what I had until it was taken from me.
Miran, a least looking a bit guilty, gives her his phone so she can call her mother and hear her voice. Luckily, Zehra answers the “unknown” number call to hear Reyyan say “momma!” Her immediate response “my Hita!” (Okay it was really cariño but I like Hita better).
At some open-air restaurant, Gonul and Yaren are meeting as Azat arrives. It is initially uncomfortable, but Yaren is trying to convince both Azat and Gonul that they have to work together to achieve their goals of ending up with the people they love. Outside the restaurant, Elif sees the unlikely trio and recognizes Gonul. She wonders how Gonul knows the man who nearly ran her over.
This took much more time to put together because of all the dialogue in the episode. I think I caught everything correctly, but if I didn’t, please fill in.
On another note, I will not be able to do the Wednesday mini-recap as our hospital has lifted our travel ban and I have to attend an overnight meeting. The place we are staying at does not have Telemundo. Maybe someone out there (not on the current recapping team) might want to volunteer to cover the Wednesday episode? 😊
What a fantastic recap, vvs! You got it all and in spades. I loved the call-back to Loli, including Turkish cousin to Lupe. And BG's Hunky Bar bodyguard!
Now, if I had been Zehra, I probably wouldn't have answered my phone. I wouldn't have wanted to speak to Tiffany or Jennifer or some other perky gal wanting to extend the warranty on my 2013 car.
Miran was appalled about BG offering to settle the debt for Nasuh's house. He muttered something either to BG or Firat that it would have been worth 1% of the debt. Miran also got in a good jab when he stated that it wasn't his fault that the Sadoglu didn't have good credit, causing the bank to call the loan.
Sehrigar is very annoying. And stupid. She's supposed to get information but she keeps calling attention to herself by being a jerk and is close to being thrown out on her ear.
I think the one Sehrigar is working for is Handan. She called her Señora, a married woman title.
This is usually said about men, but Yaren SO has a punchable face. And, ITA VVS...how in the world does she think she'll ever get Miran. And, even if she gets Reyyan out of the way, why does she think he wouldn't just go back to his wife?
Thank you novelera for reading my long-winded recap! I appreciate you adding that extra dialogue from the “man only” meeting.
Sehriyar is definitely not making a very good spy for whoever she is working for! If it is Handan, how did Handan know Sehriyar’s relationship to Esma? I could be wrong, but I don’t recall Esma being around any of the Sadoglu clan.
Yaren definitely has a punchable face! Do you think it is possible for Azat and Elif to become an item? There wasn’t any chemistry initially between them, but it crossed my mind.
Super recap, VVS! . Nothing missing, you covered it. And you were pressed for time, too Thanks so much.
Sehriyar is just as irritating as Lupe. Yes, that was a fitting call back to Loli. And I bet they won’t fire her either. novelera, you could be right about Sehriyar working for Handan.
I was also annoyed with Reyyan last night. I couldn’t take all her crying and screaming.
When Miran felt sick in the car I laughed thinking about the GSW. Maybe it will bother him like guilty conscience all through the series. Or maybe he just gets carsick when he doesn’t drive.
Azat nearly runs over Elif. Could this be a future pairing?
I don’t get Yaren’s obsession with Miran either. This chick is sick.
dondi356
VVS, I didn't see your post before I posted. I see we have the same thought about Azat and Elif. We'll see. And you make a good point about how Handan would know Sehriyar's connection to Esma. But there are a lot of unknowns out there.
dondi356
So...this is how I understand the financial arrangements between Sadoglu/Atsoy/Aslanbey.
They were working on a project together. Hotels? Not sure about that one.
The bank put up the Sadoglu half of the funds to begin...something...construction? Both families signed a contract and, according to Cihan, Hazar signed on behalf of the Sadoglu.
What Miran gave Nasuh was a document cancelling the Aslanbey participation in the project. Also, that would have been an illegal contract anyway if the Atsoy name were used on it. So Grandpa Tyrant has a huge debt to a bank, perhaps guaranteed by the contract to build...whatever. Now that there's no construction going forward, the bank wants its money back. Still a bit confused. Did GT give Miran his half of the startup money that he borrowed from the bank? If it were just sitting there, couldn't he just give it back?
And BG offered to pay off the Sadoglu debt to the bank if he gave her his house in Midyat. She knows just where to hit him in his pride.
Of course the 100 million they're talking about could be Turkish lira which would make it around 11 million dollars.
Hi dondi356, yes there are so, so many unknowns right now.
“Or maybe he just gets carsick when he doesn’t drive.” Ha-ha! I know I sure do!
Great layout of the contracts and money novelera. It is all rather confusing. If the project hadn’t started, I don’t know why GT doesn’t have the money to give back or at least a portion of it. I might have to re-watch the first episode again to try and figure out the business side. I checked both the Spanish and English subtitles and the number was $100 million dollars, but like dondi356 has mentioned, it probably is the Turkish lira not the dollar based on the translation.
Wow, VVS, this was a magnificent recap! I wish I had more time to discuss it, but I was out all afternoon and now I need to make dinner. But let me just say that I too was thinking that Sehriyar reminded me of Lupe, both in appearance and in behavior, so I was delighted when I came upon your calling attention to that. And then you followed up a bit later with " Lupe, I mean, Sehriyar looks like she hit the chisme jackpot!" And I laughed aloud when I read your revival of the avocados in Miran's telling Nasuh that he didn't have the avocados to kill Reyyan and him.
I don't really understand what Viper#1 aka BG, has in mind in her offer to Nasuh. I suspect he's right that she has more in mind than just depriving him of the place he likes most.
Perhaps I'll understand more tonight. I hope so, since I'm recapping!
Again, MANY THANKS!!
Oh, one more thing. Novelera, it may well be that Handan is the person who hired Sehriyar to spy, but I'm not sure how significant it is that Sehriyar refers to the person as señora. It seems to me that all the women are referred to that way in this novela, even the unmarried women. (I think someone (Nasuh?) even referred to Gul as "señora Gul," though of course he may have been doing so playfully.)
Thank you Juanita for the great comments. I am glad you got a chuckle out of the Loli references! I guess we all had to suffer through that TN to appreciate what we have to recap now. It is furious writing to do the episode justice, at least for me. Not time to FF anything or anyone! Every scene is riveting, of course you, dondi356 and novelera are pros! I still feel very much the rookie.
VVS, you may be newer to recapping than some of us, but you are most definitely a pro! Your recaps are first-rate!
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #16 - p 1 de 3
Elif sees cousin Gonul sitting at a table in a cafe with two other people. One is the man who almost hit her with his car. Elif is puzzled. What is her cousin doing here? And who is that man? She feels they're driving her crazy.
Inside the cafe, Yaren explains that Gonul wants Miran back and Azat loves Reyyan. "We can help each other." Azat says that if he can save Reyyan, he's in. Gonul doesn't want Miran to be hurt. Azat assures her that if nothing happens to Reyyan, nothing will happen to Miran. After a brief silence, Yaren announces, "We have a deal."
Reyyan has used Miran's phone to call Zehra. It's a very emotional call. Lots of crying, I miss you, I love you, God protect you, etc. Then Gul gets on the phone and asks Reyyan to tell Miran to bring her again. The call ends. Reyyan gives the phone back to Miran. He looks deep in thought. I almost thought he was going to ask her to keep the phone.
Bad Granny (BG) has summoned Esma and is asking her how Miran found out about Reyyan's being locked up. Esma explains that Reyyan was so upset when Sra. Sultana locked her up, the only thing Esma could think of to do was to call Firat. Miran happened to be with him. BG isn't pleased. She asks Esma how long she has known her. Esma says, more than 30 years. BG says, "You've learned nothing in more than 30 years. Everything in this house happens with my permission. Don't tell Firat or Miran anything without first checking with me."
After Esma leaves, BG berates Sultana. "They told me you were pretending to be the lady of the house." Sultana says she was just trying to do what she thought BG would do. BG tells her, "You'll never be like me. You'll simply ruin things that I'll have to fix."
Sultana tells Gonul, "Your husband took the girl from the house. You should have waited for your husband, not gone off somewhere." Gonul walks away angry. She then calls Yaren to tell her that Miran took Reyyan away from the konak, she doesn't know where. Yaren calls Firat, who is in the kitchen with his mother and Keriman. Yaren tells him she wants to meet with him to thank him for his help. Firat tells his mother that the call was from work, and he has to leave. As soon as he does so, Keriman tells Esma, "Your son is in love."
Firat doesn't get very far before he encounters BG. She asks him which of the Sadoglu men shot Miran. Nasuh? Hazar? Cihan? Azat? Firat hesitates. BG reminds him that she raised him to be like one of the family. "I'm practically your abuela," she says. Finally, he tells her that it was Reyyan who shot Miran. BG notes that Reyyan is the daughter of Hazar, "the bastard who killed my son." Firat mentions that Reyyan also was the one who removed the bullet, and he expresses the hope that nothing bad will happen to her. BG tells him, "Her time will come. She'll pay for shooting an Aslanbey. For now, though, I'll leave her on my waiting list." BG orders Firat not to tell anyone what he has told her, and not to forget that his first loyalty is to BG.
Miran takes Reyyan to the site where he built the swing for her. He tells her to get out of the car. She's not eager to do so, and she asks why he brought her here, why did he do this? He tells her he did it for her. Reyyan tells him that the place had been hers, but he tainted it. Apparently Miran has managed to quickly arrange for a meal to be served in a special eating area. A servant comes with food, apologizing that this was the best he could do on such short notice. Reyyan claims she doesn't want to sit down, she doesn't want to eat, she doesn't want to be there.
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #16 - p 2 de 3
Handan is with Hanife. She asks Hanife whether she is familiar with insects called bedbugs. They latch onto a host organism and suck their blood. She says Hanife reminds her of these insects. Hanife replies, "While you were busy insulting me, your daughter has left." Handan looks up to see Yaren leaving the konak. Handan hurries after her. Hanife mutters under her breath, "So you think I'm a bedbug. What are you? A python."
Cihan is meeting with a man I don't recognize. Perhaps one of the lawyers? He tells the man, "I want to know everyting about the Aslanbey family. What did they do in Kars? Who are their friends? I want to know everything in the past in detail. Absolutely everyting. Friends, enemies, happiness, grief, problems. Don't worry about money. I have it." The man assures him that he can do what Cihan has asked, and he leaves. Cihan then says, "You'll see, Handan, if your husband is a real man or not. You'll see how I destroy the Aslanbey family, one by one."
Elif is walking aimlessly in Midyat. She overhears two men talking. One says, "The Aslanbey took the Sadoglu girl. The guy is married, he's living with both his wife and his lover." Elif goes over to the men and asks, "Who are the Sadoglu?" The men realize that she is not from around there, and they ask her why she wants to know about the Sadoglu. She says she has heard that they kidnapped a girl, and she wants to know whether they are bad people. They reply that the Sadoglu are much loved and respected, and they own almost half of Midyat. She then asks about the Aslanbey. One of the men replies that they're too young, but their parents probably know them. "They say that the head of the family is a woman who is demented. The two families used to be rivals, but the Aslanbey left the town after one of their sons was killed." They ask again why Elif is asking so many questions. Who is she? "I'm nobody," she replies, and walks away.
Yaren arrives at the cafe where Firat is waiting. She tells him she has brought him a gift to thank him. He opens the gift. I think it's a pair of cufflinks. Yaren again thanks him for all he's done, making it possible for Reyyan to see her sister. Though things almost turned out terribly, Yaren says. "It's a good thing I woke Gul and sent her." Firat buys her story.
Back at the swing site, Miran is preparing some food in pita bread for Reyyan. She asks, "You think I'll forget about what you did?" The servant comes back and addresses her as señora. She angrily tells him, "Don't call me señora, I'm not anyone's señora!" She tells Miran, "You're fake, the wedding was fake, everything about you is fake. I'm nothing to you and you're nothing to me."
Handan has followed Yaren and sees her sitting at a table with Firat. She strides over, yells at Yaren, and tells Firat, "You're an Aslanbey. Stay away from our family!" Handan insists that Yaren leave with her, and she yells at her all the way home.
Hazar tells Zehra, "Pack your things. We're leaving." Zehra asks about Reyyan. He tells her we'll rescue her soon.
Miran admits that bringing Reyyan to the swing site was a mistake. She tells him, "You threw me into the void from the swing" (I think that's what she said, but I'm not sure). She continues, "You're sorry, but you don't repent. You say you have no peace in your heart. You can't, can you? You're the great Miran Aslanbey. You told me you've never loved. So don't expect me to love you. You can't stand to hear the truth." Miran looks as if he's about to tell her he loves her, but he doesn't.
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #16 - p 3 de 4
BG asks that Elif come out of her room. Sehriyar informs her that Elif went out in the middle of the day and hasn't come back. We then see Elif sitting on a bench somewhere outside in the dark. Two young guys come by and look as if they're going to give her a hard time. Elif tells them to leave her alone. She then gets up, pushes them out of the way, and runs off.
BG sends the guards off to find Elif. "Don't come back without her!"
Gonul speaks with Yaren on the phone. Yaren tells her what she has to do. Sultana wants to know what Gonul is up to. Gonul tells her, "I want you to stop interfering in my life. Azize too has to stay out of my life!"
Yaren too is having problems with her mother. She tells Handan, "Like it or not, Azat will marry Reyyat." Handan goes ballistic. "Reyyan's a married woman! You want to turn that man's lover into my son's wife?" She lights into Yaren, hitting her hard and knocking her down. Yaren pleads with her: "I'm suffering, but you think only of your son." Handan then takes Yaren's phone and locks her in her room.
Cihan is driving and stops when he sees a young woman momentarily fall on the ground. He asks her whether she's OK and points out that she's in a dangerous neighborhood. He asks her her name and where she's from. She tells him her name is Elif, and some guys were bothering her, which is why she was running. She assures him she's OK, and he drives away.
Hazar heads to the Aslanbey konak with a gun. "I'm coming for you, hija!"
BG thinks that Elif has been kidnapped by the Sadoglu. She tells Firat she wants him to drive her somewhere.
Sultana sees Gonul about to leave. She asks where she's going. Gonul replies, "I'm going to get my husband. An opportunity has presented itself, and I'm going to take advantage of it. I'm not coming back without my husband. This time I'm using my head, not my emotions." Sultana tells her someone has kidnapped Elif, and Gonul shouldn't create more problems right now. Gonul ignores her.
We then see Gonul driving and holding a large knife. She also manages to hold her phone and to call Azat while she's driving. As soon as Azat knows it's Gonul who has called, he says "I'm coming" and gets up to leave.
Gul sees Zehra packing. Zehra explains that they're going on a trip--Daddy, Mommy, Gul, and Reyyan. What about Miran? asks Gul. Zehra winces but manages to say he'll come later. That makes Gul very happy. Zehra cautions her that it's a secret, she should tell no one. So of course, who does Gul run into but her dear abuelito. And since it's a secret, she tells it to him and tells him not to tell anyone! (Raise your hand if you were surprised. No, I didn't think so.) Gul goes off to the kitchen, while dear abuelito rushes upstairs to see Zehra.
"What are you doing?" GT demands to know. Zehra tells him, "We can't live in this house. If you can't accept my daughter, we're leaving." Dear sweet abuelito is furious. "Are you trying to turn my son against me? For a girl who isn't his daughter? For a shameless slut (sinvergüenza)?" He then points and says, "There's the door. Go, but you'll never take Hazar or Gul." Just as he says this, we hear a voice yell "Nasuh, open the door!" His attention shifts from Zehra to the voice at the konak door.
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #16 - p 4 de 4
Meanwhile, Hazar arrives at the Aslanbey konak, pushes past the ineffectual guards at the door, and rushes in, yelling "Miran Aslanbey. I've come for my hija!" Hazar has his pistol pointed at the head of one guard, while another has his pistol pointed at Hazar's head. Sultana comes out. He tells her he doesn't want to kill anyone, he just wants his daughter. She tells Hazar that Reyyan isn't there. He doesn't believe her. She tells him he's welcome to come look for her. He asks where she is. Sultana replies, "No one knows. Ask Miran. He took her."
Azize is the one who yelled for Nasuh to open the door. The door is opened. Azize and her entourage enter. Nasuh confronts her: "How dare you enter the Sadoglu konuk!" Azize replies, "I demand you return Elif safe and sound or I'll destroy everything." A puzzled Nasuh asks, "What are you talking about? Who is Elif?" Azize tells him to stop trying to fool her with his lies. She again threatens to kill everyone. "Give back Elif!" she demands, as the episode ends.
(BTW, the first two pages of the recap say there are three parts. It wasn't until I tried to post part 3 that I realized it was too long and made this brief 4th part.)
Just a fantastic recap, Juanita. Like seeing it all over again. I will probably not have much time to post today so I just wanted to get in my compliment before I get swamped with a work project.
Gotta say it. I was urging Handan on: "Go ahead, slap her again!"
I am very curious about Gonul's plan. Is she the first woman we've seen drive?
So sad. Innocent Gul spoils Zehra's dream of escaping Casa Sadoglu. This whole slut business is just dumb. Nasuh well knows that the fake wedding was never Reyyan's fault.
Azize is showing her cards all over the place. Sehriyar definitely noticed her over-the-top concern about Elif. And now Nasuh knows there's a weak spot.
Now this is a first-rate recap Juanita! So much going on in this dizi and you covered everything so well!
I feel bad for Miran, he is on complete emotional overload and clueless of how to deal with and gain trust back with Reyyan. She is doing a pretty good job of not being sucked back in. We all said from the beginning that he would have a lot of groveling to do and it appears that the groveling hasn’t even crossed his mind.
I loved it when she called him out "You're sorry, but you don't repent. You say you have no peace in your heart. You can't, can you? You're the great Miran Aslanbey.” Reyyan has his number for sure.
I liked the Yaren got a few punches to the face from Handan! I could hear novelera cheering over the All-Stars game...lol. I know I was!
I missed the part when Cihan drove off leaving Elif in the street. I assumed he would help her or keep her once he finds out who she really is. As Elif was running through the streets, I almost thought she might be rescued by the kindly gentleman who helped Reyyan and knows Hazar.
What a bunch of worthless guards at both konaks!
Interesting that finally someone, (BG), asked who shot Miran? Firat is definitely in a tough position with this old snake!
The second Zehra told Gul about the trip, I knew it was a lost cause for her trying to leave.
Thanks very much, novelera and VVS, for your insightful and appreciative comments.
novelera, I too enjoyed seeing Handan beating the scheming Yaren. I was impressed with Handan's forcefulness. No wimpy slaps. And I too am eager to know what Gonul's plan is. I keep trying to think of something that might work without Miran getting badly hurt or killed (Gonul's requirement), but I'm coming up empty. And yes, I can't think of another woman I've seen drive except for Eva Soler in Eva La Trailera. She drove a truck! I suspect there are some in novelas I haven't seen or have forgotten. Perhaps not if we restrict the search to Turkish novelas. Perhaps dondi356 will comment on that. Needless to say, I agree that "the whole slut business" is dumb. It may not even matter whether Nasuh knows what happened to Reyyan was in no way her fault. She is not a Sadoglu in his eyes, and she has been dishonored publicly, and that's all that seems to matter for him to condemn her. And I gather that he's not alone in holding such attitudes.
VVS, I'm happy to see that you, too, took pleasure in Handan's treatment of Yaren. She certainly had it coming. As for Cihan's driving off, I don't think the name "Elif" registered with him. I'm not even sure whether Nasuh knows who Elif is. He may be honest when he asks Azize what she's talking about. It's true that Sehriyar may know how important Elif is to Azize, but it's not clear that she has had time to report to whoever hired her, nor that that person has had time to communicate to Nasuh. And yes, I too felt that as soon as Zehra told Gul, the plan was doomed. I screamed "Dummy!" at her through the TV screen, but she apparently didn't hear me.
Positively perfect, Juanita. Thanks so much!
When Gonul called her, Yaren’s phone actually said “Yılan”, that’s snake in Turkish. lol
Hanım is the form of address for a woman, whether married or unmarried. It covers Miss, Ms. Mrs. Young girls are called by just their names or people will say kız or kızım (girl/daughter, my girl/daughter). It is playful when Nasuh calls the little one, “Gul Hanım” (Señora).
That waiter and food came out of nowhere! He addressed Reyyan as “Yenge”. The common meaning is SIL although it can be used in other situations. He said that because he thought Reyyan was Miran’s wife.
Oh boy, did I ever enjoy Handan smacking Yaren around. I yelled out, give her one for me! And she took her phone! I wonder how long that will last.
I feel sorry for Firat. I feel sorry for Azat. I’m beginning to feel sorry for Miran.
I think you are right, Juanita, it doesn’t matter to Nasuh if Reyyan has fault for the reasons you mentioned.
IIRC, Gonul is the only woman I’ve seen driving in this show so far. I don’t remember seeing Yaren drive. I’ve seen plenty of women drive in other Turkish shows.
dondi356
I will put up one of my Wednesday quickies tonight. Don't expect a VVS Wednesday masterpiece!
Dondi, yes, our heroine whose name is gone from my brain drove all over Istanbul in Todo por Mi hija.
novelera, were you thinking of Candan from Todo por Mi hija, in the pre Ottoman period Turkey dizi I'm watching she has squinty eyes, is head of one of the tribes, rides a horse and swings a sword with best of them, Demir is the Sultan, they were sniffing around each other for a while but the Sultan sent her away because it was causing problems with his wife.
I'm not watching Herc, but so far have been reading the recaps, they are all wonderful, thank you all so much.
Dondi, thanks for kizim, I see that Kizim is the original Turkish title for Todo por Mi hija.
Thank you VVS and Juanita! I havent been able to comment but always love yalls detailed recaps!
Ugh, I’m so tired of the tyrant’s rants.
Miran and Reyyan, there so much keeping them apart I wonder how the writers are going to bring them together.
And I like how Elif doesnt just accept whats going on. Hopefully she’ll be instrumental in getting some
truths revealed.
Novelera, sorry if this comes too late but I can put up some bullet points for tonights episode since I kno you already have a recap day if that works for you. Im not able to watch tonight’s episode live but can prob watch and put something up tmrw noon.

Thanks so much, dondi356, for your wonderfully informative comments. I wish we had a designation like Hanim that didn't depend on marital status. That was what Ms was supposed to be, but I don't think it has caught on as widely as was hoped.
Looks like all of us were cheering Handan on in her, um, response to Yaren.
Novelera, thanks VERY much for offering to put up a "quickie" for tonight's episode!
Deb, are you saying that there's a different Turkish version of Todo Por Mi Hija set in the pre-Ottoman period that (apparently) has nothing to do with the version we saw on Telemundo but has characters with the same names? Or have I misunderstood what you were saying? And I'm glad that you're reading the Hercai recaps. Any chance we can persuade you to watch the show and join in the comments?
Hercai - #17 – Wednesday Quickie
Miran has taken Reyyan to the house by the vineyard where she shot him a while back. He is right that she needs to get away from Bad Grannie’s House of Horrors for a while. She keeps spitting fire at hin, but softs just a little bit right before he goes for groceries and the caca hits the fan.
Yaren has told Gonul where they are and Gonul and Azat arrive and lurk outside the vineyard. When Miran leaves to get food, Gonul comes in and drops the bomb that she’s the real wife. Then Azat takes Reyyan away.
Cihan drives Elif home. After she gets out of the car, he may have grasped which house she went into.
Hazar is still at the Aslanbey place. He tells Sultana and Lupe/Sehriyar overhears that he’s given Miran 24 hours to bring back his daughter or he’s burning down Casa Aslanbey.
Miran comes back and finds only Gonul. She’s in a pool of blood. Viewerville knows she stabbed herself, but she gasps out that Reyyan did it and then left with Azat.
In the car Reyyan tells Azat that she has to talk with Miran (presumably about his being married). He’s refusing to stop; she grabs the wheel; and they crash into something.
Miran is talking to himself with Gonul in the backseat. He keeps telling himself she wouldn’t have left him.
When Firat is driving, not sure where, Miran calls. BG is in the backseat and demands the call be put on speaker. Later on, putting things together, Firat realizes it had to be Yaren who told where they were.
Reyyan and Gonul are being treated in the same hospital, but Miran doesn’t see Reyyan being lifted from the ambulance.
Firat drives BG home. She enters and gives gorgon stares to Sultana and Sehriyar. But she does tell Sultana about her daughter being in the hospital (for being stupid). She goes up to see Elif and, miraculously, is kind.
Miran goes a bit nuts in the hospital. He pushes Firat against a wall and tells him Reyyan wouldn’t leave him that way. He’s sure, after everything he did to her, that he saw love in her eyes.
In Reyyan’s hospital room she’s talking with her eyes closed. Azat is holding her hand, but lets it go when he realizes she’s asking for Miran.
Lady M. uses Yaren’s phone to call Azat and explodes when she finds he’s gone to get Reyyan. Viewerville gets the pleasure of another Yaren beatdown by her mother. [They can show a scene like that every night, and we’ll all be happy!] Yaren tries to bargain with Lady M, but is way out of her league and gets nowhere. She stays locked up.
When Reyyan, still in a hospital room, begs Azat for his phone to call Miran, he shows her Miran and Gonul’s wedding picture.
Juanita- no-no, the same Todo por mi Hija that you watched was originally called Kizim in Turkey. The completely different period show I am now watching has the same actors that played Demir and Candan in your Todo por mi Hija.
Many thanks, novelera, for this very fine "quickie" recap. You captured a great deal, including one thing that I reported incorrectly in my recap of yesterday's episode. You rightly report that Cihan drives Elif home. I would have sworn that he drove off after she told him her name and assured him she was OK. You can imagine how astonished I was tonight to see him with Elif in the car. And yes, I think he does realize that he's just dropped her off at the Aslanbey konak.
I think another cheer went up from Viewerville tonight when Handan gave Yaren round two of the beatdown.
It looks as if Sehriyar adds at least one major piece of information in tonight's episode. She overhears Azize's conversation with Elif in Elif's bedroom. Azize is worried that someone might find out that Elif is her granddaughter, and Elif assures her that that didn't happen. Sehriyar listens with astonishment and then disappears just as Azize leaves Elif's room.
Thanks, deb, for clarifying. It must be a bit weird to see the same two actors play very different characters in a very different show. I remember finding it hard to adjust to an actor who had been a good guy in one show play the villain in another soon afterward.
No need to explain why, but I missed the first 5 minutes or so of the earlier showing. I saw the beginning after the NBA game and can now mention that it was a showdown inside Casa Sadoglu with Azize having gone there thinking they had Elif. The two old bulls lock horns for a while, but Azize doesn't want to admit what the missing girl means to her. And Nasuh threw some heavy threats at her.
Thank you, VVS, Juanita and Novelera! I got behind on watching but caught up last night.
Things are going so quickly! It seems like everything that could happen to separate Reyyan and Miran has happened, yet this is just the beginning! I hope these writers don't get too wild in their other ideas, because I've already started wearing my beanie full-time.
I was cheering right along with everyone as Lady M grabbed, pulled and slapped Yaren around. THat was swe-e-e-et! I bet we'll see more because Yaren was not phased one bit!
Watching Reyyan and Miran just pulls on my heartstrings. Miran has been so brainwashed that he has no idea what he is feeling or how to handle it, but his eyes spoke to Reyyan and she saw through that stubbornness and denial...he does regret what he did to her! And likewise, Miran saw love in her eyes despite all her fury. And now it's back to square one...maybe even further back!
Yaren is an evil snake but she sure is smart! Her plan to separate Reyyan and Miran was (unfortuneately) pure perfection. But smart as she is, she still believes that she can snare Miran...not such as genius after all! In contrast, Gonul is downright stupid; she may have gotten Miran away from Reyyan, but she just blew her marriage right out of the water. How quickly Gonul forgot that Miran threatened to divorce her if Reyyan ever found out that they are married. And Azat is just as stupid. He may have shot down that last ray of hope Reyyan had, but she still has Miran deep in her heart and he certainly will not be the one to even get close to getting Miran out of Reyyan's mind much less her heart.
Yay, Firat, can add! He put 2 and 2 together and came up with Yaren. But how long before he hears Gonul's lies and starts making excuses for Yaren. I doubt that his rose-colored glasses will be off for very long.
Cihan did indeed recognize that he had dropped off Elif at the Aslanbey house. And it was confirmed when Hazar was walking away and caught sight of Cihan hiding behind the wall.
So I'm finally beginning to agree with all of you that there must be "Something about Elif" that is very puzzling...and intriguing. I thought for sure Azize would tear into her, but instead Azize was very calm and reassuring...totally out of character! Something flashed quickly though my mind...Elif can't be Azize's daughter, can she? And, in reading the comments, I see that some think that Azat and Elif might become and item; isn't she way too young?? I keep thinking of her as a very young teenager...maybe 13 or 14.
Thanks for the mini-cap, novelera. It hit all the important points.
Looks like Miran is getting panic attacks as he’s being deprogrammed by his love for Reyyan.
Elif told Azize that Cihan mentioned he had a daughter around her age. So if Yaren was old enough to be married off, Elif can’t be too young for a novio. We figured that Reyyan is about 17. Miran must be at least 10 years older than her. Azat is likely around Miran’s age.
Interesting you bring up Elif being Azize’s daughter, Rgv Chick. She certainly is the golden child.
I could watch Handan smack Yaren around every night. We are such bad people...lol
Unfortunately, we have to suffer through the stupidity of Gonul and the gullibility of Firat to drive the storyline.
dondi356
dondi356, I think Miran is about 30 years old. His parents were killed 27 years ago, and he described seeing either one or both of their bloody corpses in the garden as a very young boy.
Read an interesting article in the NY Review of Books (had to register to read even this one article. Registering is free for one article)
What I was thinking of is now illegal in Turkey. Miran cannot just say I divorce you three times and that would be it. But more traditional habits are still practiced in rural areas.
Thanks Novelera! And interesting about how one could once go about getting divorce in Turkey. Miran is not going to have it that easy, the way i picture his and gonul’s relationship is her clinging to his legs while he tries to get away. I could very see a scene like that happening. seriously Gonul, you knife yourself...dumb
Glad Firat, figured out what happened but a little too late
Dondi, I like your description of miran “being deprogrammed by his love for reyyan”.
