Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #20
Part 1 of 6
Reyyan, with a determined look, walks toward Miran. He looks relieved that she has returned and says, you came back? Reyyan responds, I did not know I was coming to see you. Now tell me, why are you here waiting for me? Instead of tell her he is madly in love with her, Miran says he knows what is going on and that she is being forced to marry Azat. Miran has it all planned out and will take her far away.
Reyyan says who are you to me? Why do you think I would go anywhere with an unstable person like you? I can never forgive you Miran, my heart will never forget what you did to me. I swore that I would never forget what you did to me, I won’t let you forget and I will never forgive you! You don’t exist anymore and I am not being obligated to do anything and no longer under the threat of death.
Reyyan continues, I gave my hand willingly to Azat and will marry him. I will be very happy and it will be as if you never, ever existed. The great and destructive Miran Aslanbey never existed for me!
The pain on Miran’s face is almost hard to watch as her words hit him where it hurts most. Face to face, he yells, then just kill me! Calmly, Reyyan says, to me, you are already dead Miran. You taught me this cruelty, how to kill someone without even pulling the trigger.
Angry now, Miran says, no one, absolutely no one does this to Miran Aslanbey! This is far from over. Reyyan stays very calm and looks over his shoulder to the swing in the sky. She says, this is where it all began, I thought it was a beautiful fairytale, but I was wrong. She puts one finger to Miran’s lips, mimicking what he did on their wedding night in the cabin and tells him, what started here ends here.
Azat drives up and gets out of the car and he calls for Reyyan. Reyyan turns to him as he stands, looking uncertain. Even more calmly, Reyyan turns back to Miran and says, our sad, sad story ends here Miran. She turns away and walks toward Azat. Miran calls for Reyyan. She looks, expressionless into Azat’s pleading eyes and takes his hand. Azat glances back at Miran, who screams Reyyan, Reyyan, Reyyan!!! As Reyyan and Azat walk back to the car, her face finally reveals the sadness and loss she is truly feeling.
The next morning at the Aslanbey konak, Esma is serving Bad Grannie (BG) coffee in the courtyard. A smiling Gonul greats them both with a ‘good morning” the granddaughter that you underestimate has done something you couldn’t do Grandmother. I got rid of the Sadoglu chick and have ensured that Reyyan will never return. She and Azat are to be married soon.
BG is not at all impressed and tells the smiling Ghoul, I mean Gonul, not to let her guard down, it is not the Sadoglu chick we need to worry about. BG and Esma exchange a look as Gonul continues to smile in an “I am in desperate need of Prozac” way.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #20
Part 2
At the Sadoglu konak, Hanife opens the front gate for Reyyan (sporting a new hairstyle) and Azat, she yells, they have returned. (So I feel like we missed part of the storyline here as it was potentially cut out). The entire Sadoglu clan come out to the courtyard. Azat announces that tomorrow he and Reyyan will get married. Only Yaren looks pleased with this news.
The adorable Gul runs up to her sister and says, what about Miran? You can’t marry Azat! Miran loves you! (Out of the mouths of babes). Reyyan looks miserable and runs upstairs. Zehra tells Azat that as her mother, it is her place to talk to Reyyan. Yaren tells everyone to be happy, there is a wedding to plan! Hazar tells Gul to come with him, she thinks she is in trouble for making her sister cry.
Cihan and Handan attempt to play parents of the year, asking Azat if he has really thought this through. Azat tells them both not to waste their breath on pathetic attempts to show they care; he knows what they have done and they no longer have the right to call him “son.” It is decided, there will be a wedding tomorrow.
It appears that Miran has spent the entire night at the Swing in the Sky location. Firat once again joins him and serves as counselor. Miran says, they have left her with no other alternative, she has nowhere to go or place to breath. This is a double-edged sword for Reyyan. She will end up hurt. Firat says, you had a hand in this as well. Miran acknowledges this and says she cannot come back to me, she cannot be at her home, she is getting married out of desperation, there is no other explanation.
Firat says, brother, you know that no one is obligating Reyyan to do anything. She launched herself off a bridge for heaven’s sake! Miran continues to analyze saying she only did that because she was afraid of my anger and wrath, she was afraid to come with me and jumped off that bridge. Reyyan is only doing this for her family, not to live, but not to die, which is very different.
Reyyan is showing me how it feels to be the living dead, she is punishing me for what I have done to her. She wants me to suffer what she has suffered. But you know what? I am okay with this, knowing what is really in her heart.
Zehra is with Reyyan in her room. Zehra says, if everything is okay, then why do you look so miserable? Reyyan tells her that she was “taken” to Miran the night before. At first Zehra is concerned that Miran hurt her. Reyyan says, what more can he do to me? The scene goes back to Miran and Firat. Miran says that he knows what Reyyan is doing and why. She wants her revenge and wants him to stop fighting for her. He isn’t sad, but he is angry.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #20
Part 3
Zehra takes Reyyan’s hand and says, seeing Miran again has made you sad. You still love this man, don’t you? Back to Miran, he says, she doesn’t love him, she is only doing this because they are forcing her too! Firat tells Miran that he is tired and confused, lets go have a drink and relax. Miran snaps back that drinking is for the weak. He has somewhere to go, no not to the Sadoglu konak, I will never go there again. I am going to talk to the only person who can help me feel better. (I am guessing he means his mother). Miran heads off as Firat once again is left shaking his head.
Zehra tells Reyyan that if her heart still loves Miran, there is no way she can control her head into thinking marrying Azat is going to work. Reyyan gets upset and says it is the right thing to do and I have made my decision, stop trying to talk me out of it. The decision is made. I will marry my Primo Azat! A concerned Zehra says, how can you marry someone you still call Primo? Reyyan looks miserable.
We move to the cemetery where Miran’s parents are buried. To our surprise, we see Hazar there, alone. He talks to Dilsah, saying that he has come to visit her for the last time, after all these years. He cries, saying he always has the same question. Why? Why didn’t he die instead? He kneels at her graveside. I loved you so much. Why did you have to pay the price for our love? I never saw it coming, please forgive me. Ever since you died, my heart hurts and everyday I feel that pain. My heart never stops bleeding for our love and how it was taken. I feel so guilty.
Your (Our??) son considers me his enemy, Dilsah. He has carried out his venganza unjustly, against my innocent daughter. He hurt her and broke her heart. I am so tired of living in the past, remembering our tragedy. As the scene pans out, we see Miran walking toward his mother’s grave. He stops, surprised to see Hazar kneeling, crying and confessing.
Miran loses any composure he regained leaving the swing site. He attacks Hazar angrily telling him that he has no right to talk to his mother and desecrate the last resting place of his innocent parents that Hazar so ruthlessly killed. Miran pulls out his pistol and points it at Hazar’s head. Screaming, crying angrily, saying I should shoot you dead right here! I should have killed you a long time ago and this would be over!
Hazar says, shoot me, kill me! But when you do, know that your venganza is over and leave Reyyan alone! Also know that I did not kill your parents. I loved you mother! What? Screams Miran, your mother is the love of my life, says the still crying but angry Hazar. I loved her and was only trying to protect her! I never dishonored her or killed your father. I loved her!
What are you saying? says the confused Miran, that is not right, that is not the way things happened! My Abuela always said that you would lie to hide the truth. Hazar says that he does not know what happened to Miran’s parents, he was also injured that night and was taken away never knowing what had occurred. Hazar continues, saying kill me now, we will have our truth in the afterlife, but I go with my conscious clean, you on the other hand Miran Aslanbey, will have to live with your sins, the sin of dishonoring an innocent woman for the rest of your miserable life!
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #20
Part 4
Your abuela has filled your head with lies for years! Kill me, but know that I didn’t kill your parents, I loved your mother. When you kill me, then act like a man and forget about the venganza, leave my family alone. A tortured Miran, screams in angry, confusion and anguish. Why should I believe you, why? He screams. Hazar says, I don’t care if a despot like you believes me or not. Just stay away from my family and from Reyyan!
Hazar, bravely and calmly walks ways. Miran points the gun at his back, then fires three shots into the air, continuing to scream in angry and confusion. He then flings the gun to the ground and collapse onto his mother’s grave crying uncontrollably. Momma! Momma! What is really happening? (Recapper pauses to wipe her tears and take a Prozac of her own to finish the recap).
Reyyan is staring at the wedding photo of Miran and Gonul. In walks Yaren carrying a new wedding dress as a piece offering for her soon to be sister-in-law. She also gives Reyyan a package of pictures depicting her fake wedding to Miran. (Reyyan and Miran look so happy in the photos, contrast to the Gonul/Miran photo). Yaren recommends destroying the photos with Miran so she can replace them with happier ones tomorrow. Yaren cackles out of the room leaving Reyyan looking at the photos thinking, you gave me such few moments of real happiness and then destroyed me Miran. I can never, ever trust you. She rips all the photos crying.
In walks adorable Gul and sees her sister crying. She thinks to herself. If only my sister knew how much prettier she looks happy and smiling she would never cry. Gul asks God to help her think of a way to keep her sister happy and smiling. Quietly, she exits Reyyan’s room.
A conflicted Miran is sitting on another outlook overlooking the town. He stares at the ring he gave Reyyan as a wedding gift, he thinks back to his conversation with Hazar and then to the (lies) story BG has always told him. He says, someone is lying here!
Firat, who must have a GPS in Miran’s shoe, shows up and sits with his friend. Miran tells him what happened with Hazar and says that he is confused. He feels like he is losing his sanity and does not know if what he has done was the right thing to do. Firat tells Miran that perhaps Hazar’s story is just that, a well-crafted lie. Miran tells Firat that Hazar claims he loved his mother and did not know what happened that night with his parents. Hazar’s story totally contradicts the story of BG all these years and Miran almost believes him. Firat thinks that Hazar was only telling him what Miran wanted to hear because he had a gun to his head. Clearly the goal was to confuse Miran and that obviously was effective.
Back to the Sadoglu konak, Grampa Tyrant (GT) is telling Cihan and Handan that he cannot believe at his age he is going through all these trials. Hazar comes in and asks to speak to GT alone. Handan protests, but Cihan makes her leave but of course stays outside of the room listening through the very porous door.
Hazar tells GT what occurred at the cemetery and demands to know the whole truth about what occurred that night. Hazar says that Miran has waited 27 years for venganza and will not let up, ever! Tell the truth so we can be prepared. GT looks very uncomfortable but says that when he arrived that night, Hazar was wounded and Miran’s parents were already dead. GT rescued Hazar and found out much later that the Aslanbey blamed the deaths of Miran’s parents on the Sadoglu family.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #20
Part 5
Hazar says, either you are not telling me the whole truth or the Aslanbey family is hiding a dark secret we are not aware of. GT says he nothing else to share and leaves. Cihan comes back into the room and basically threatens Hazar to stop the wedding. Hazar puts him in his place and tells him he will not sacrifice his daughter just to protect Azat.
Azat and Handan are sitting in the corner by the main staircase. Reyyan is heading down the stairs when she overhears Handan tell Azat that if he marries Reyyan, she will not longer be his mother. Azat doesn’t seem to give a rats patootie and says the wedding is going to happen and she stopped being his mother when she sent Reyyan back to Miran the day before. Reyyan on the other hand is moved by this declaration from Handan and she heads back upstairs with tears in her eyes, clearly for the sacrifice Azat is making on her behalf.
At the Vipers Den (aka the Aslanbey konak), dinner is being served. A weary Miran walks up the stairs and is greeted by the Grinning Ghoulish Gonul (GGG), welcomes Miran. BG says welcome my grandson, Elif says, welcome Primo. Sultana says nothing. Miran only acknowledges Elif saying hello my sweetie.
Gonul says, I see you have returned home alone, so the rumors must be true. Sultana and BG give her a look to shut the hell up. Miran immediately is annoyed (as are we every time she opens her mouth) saying what rumors? The rumor that Reyyan and Azat are going to be married tomorrow that is why you returned home alone.
Miran loses it and says what craziness are you talking about now Gonul? He excuses himself and stomps away from the dinner table. BG tells Gonul that if she intends for Miran to stay put, maybe she should try a different, more loving approach to keeping him around. BG says your current strategy isn’t working and you are going to end up alone. BG leaves the table and follow Miran into the study. She demands to know what is going on is it because that girl is getting married? No, he demands to know the truth about his parents’ marriage.
Miran wants to know more than the horrible story she has told him a thousand times. Did they love each other? What was their marriage like? BG says that they loved each other very much but Hazar Sadoglu was obsessed with his mother and that is why she ended up dead.
Why are you asking me this senseless questions Miran? Miran demands to know the truth, swear to me that this story is the truth. BG says that the truth is only an interpretation of the reality and this is the truth in our family. I can give you more details, but first (grabbing his face in her hand) she asks, what has made you question this truth? Who is responsible for this anguish? Miran responds, Hazar Sadoglu!
Miran shares the encounter he had with Hazar at the cemetery. He tells BG that he is so confused. Hearing this BG turns into Super Evil Bad Grannie and starts to reindoctrinate Miran. Remember that the Sadoglu’s deserve no mercy for what they did.
Hazar and his daughter are playing with your mind trying to deceive you! Don’t believe them. Remember, I told you to only have room for your parents in your heart right? Yes? Then you let that girl in right? Yes, say Miran.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #20
Part 6
She set a trap to confuse you and make you doubt the truth. She shot you, she claimed to care about you and then she stabbed you in the back, running away with her lover! Stop, stop, says Miran.
Super Evil Bad Grannie pulls out all the stops and chases Miran all over the room with her slithering, evil tongue spouting lies and hate into Miran’s ears until he cannot take it anymore and vows that he will always see the Sadoglu as the enemy as he has not forgotten what they did! Don’t ever let them play with your mind and heart again oozes SEBG and don’t you EVER doubt me again!
Your mother isn’t alive to tell you the truth but I can! He played with you like a child today, don’t ever show mercy to another Sadoglu again. SEBG looks to the heavens and says, please Dilsah, forgive him for not believing what was done to you, I hope your eternal rest hasn’t been interrupted by your own sons doubts. (This evilness is unbelievable!)
Miran, hits himself hard on the chest, vowing never to forget and saying Stop, Stop! I know who the enemy is! I have not disturbed my mother’s eternal rest! Stop, enough grandmother! Enough, enough, stop! Miran leaves the room. SEBG is exhausted from her evil tirade to get Miran back under control. She retracts her horns, teeth, claws and tail, sitting down in exhaustion, she says, I hope I have convinced your head and heart to come back on my (dark) side Miran.
Miran enters his room, the room previously occupied by Reyyan, he attempts to calm himself down, strips off his shirt and opens his closet and finds it empty. He encounters one of the house servants and demands to know where his things are! Surprise, surprise, Gonul had them move everything of his to her room. A shirtless Miran storms back down the stairs and burst into Gonul’s room where she is placing his pants on hangers. The episode ends here. We can only await to what happens tonight!
¡Muchísimas gracias, VVS for this amazing recap! You captured absolutely everything and added some terrific asides. I especially liked "tells the smiling Ghoul, I mean Gonul" followed, of course, by "Grinning Ghoulish Gonul (GGG)." And yes, Turkey apparently has good GPS coverage, since Firat must have "put a GPS in Miran's shoe."
I was disappointed that when Reyyan berated Miran for all the pain he has caused her, she didn't mention his already being married to Gonul. But I guess that might have shortened the novela, though there still would have been plenty to deal with.
As for Miran, yes, he's good-looking, and whether he admits it or not, he's in love with Reyyan, but his screeching "REYYAN REYYAN REYYAN" last night was much too over the top for me. Novelas are certainly not known for their subtlety, but this struck me as excessively hammy even by novela standards.
I love your suggesting the possibility that Miran is Hazan's son, but if that were the case, wouldn't Dilsah have told him at some point between Miran's birth and her death three years later? It's true that for part of that time, she was more or less imprisoned and tortured by the Aslanbey (esp. or perhaps only BG), but for three years?
I'm really glad that Miran thought to ask BG about his parents' marriage. I found BG's response interesting: " BG says that they loved each other very much but Hazar Sadoglu was obsessed with his mother and that is why she ended up dead." Though BG intends Miran to understand that Hazan killed her because he was obsessed with her, BG's statement could be understood to mean that Dilsah was killed (by the Aslanbey) because she and Hazar were in love. BG can even argue that what she has said is the "truth," since "the truth is only an interpretation of the reality and this is the truth in our family."
There's more I could say, but I'm running late for a meeting, so I will stop now. Again, many many thanks!!
Hope your meeting goes well Juanita, thank you for taking the time to comment on the recap.
I have been thinking a lot about Miran being Hazar’s son. I went back and re-watched the episode where Hazar told Zehra the truth about Dilsah. Hazar and she were going to be married and then he left for military conscription. The Turkish military requires a three-year commitment so that works out perfectly timewise if Dilsah was pregnant with Miran before she married an Aslanbey.
When Hazar returned from the military service that is when he found out that Dilsah had been married off and was being tortured. I am probably completely wrong with this crockpot theory but I am going to push it as long as I pushed Octavio being Nicky’s dad in Loli and that was until the last episode! 😊
I thought the way BG answered Miran’s question was completely sneaky to hide any truth in every potential corner!
VVS, you outdid your self! Just a wonderful, thorough recap. And you got in some snark in the midst of all the darkness.
Yes, sometimes these actors are a bit "over the top". I suspect it's a cultural thing. Miran was especially borderline annoying last night. I never watched Destilando Amor on Uni, but apparently Eduardo Yañéz yelling "Gaviota!!" at the sky was quite the meme there.
Interesting that you wrote and I thought that Firat was attempting to take Miran out for some drinks. This would be the first mention of alcohol I've seen in this novela. I believe some was consumed in Todo por mi Hija.
Loved "porous door" and GPS in Miran's shoe.
Come on anvil! I can see you getting larger and larger in the sky and landing with a splat on Yaren.
That was one powerful scene with SEBG and Miran. I was almost yelling at my screen. Miran, Miran, can't you see what she's doing. If he hadn't been so emotional himself, he might have realized that Hazar, sad and with the truth in his eyes, saying that Dilsuh was the love of his life, contrasted with evil, crazy, obsessional Grannie spouting horrible things.
Juanita, I don't agree. I wish Miran had NOT talked to Azize. He'd have been better off going somewhere quiet and mulling over what Hazar said. And approached her later when he would be more capable of spotting the hysteria.
First, thank you so much, VVS. This was another great recap. You tell the tale very well.
Second, since VVS mentioned a possible edit, I looked at the Turkish ep. They cut a flashback that Miran had while he was waiting for Reyyan at the swing. I can’t believe they cut this out!
I found a clip of the scene. It’s in Turkish with no captions but you really don’t need them to understand what happened.
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDQJmA7Kg7Q&list=PL9CjazF9ElysbwO51c216iFcx9HEOfXNg&index=24
That cemetery scene was so powerful! I can’t figure out the timeline for Hazar and Dilsah and exactly when Miran was born. I’m not ready to give up the crockpot theory that Miran is Hazar’s son. That’s why Miran didn’t kill Hazar. And I really think Bad Grannie is depraved enough to use Miran for her revenge knowing he’s a Sadoglu. She loves to torture him with her lies. That was another powerful scene. Very hard to watch.
Do you think one of Reyyan’s condition of marriage was that Azat not kill Miran?
Do you think Azat and Reyyan will make it to the wedding table? I don’t.
I despise Yaren, I can hardly look at her.
“Gonul continues to smile in an “I am in desperate need of Prozac” way.” Miran is the one in desperate need of medication.
Ah Reyyan, never say never.
dondi356
It was a very dark episode novelera. The conversations were so intense and the reactions so over the top, but I guess I didn’t mind so much considering what is at stake. I also think it is a cultural thing, plus Miran is just an arrogant ass, but I like him.
Yaren does need a hefty anvil and soon. She is just awful. I do like that Azat is not swayed by her or their parents in any way.
I think Miran was looking for a quiet dinner at home with his “family” but stupid Gonul ruined even that for him. How she thinks he is going to stay with her tonight is just crazy. He doesn’t get even one second to think things through. Maybe he should have gone back to the swing to think instead of allow SEBG to burn his melon even more! Firat would have found him and I am sure brought him dinner.
Thank you dondi356 for confirming the edited scene. I will watch it now. I think Miran does need some Prozac and after looking at his hair cut close ups last night, he does need a new hair style. Reyyan changed hers! I think this was the first time we have seen any man completely de-shirted in this TN. We only saw a bit of Miran’s chest when Reyyan was taking out the bullet and Gonul was redressing his wound. Slim and trim compared to Edward Y., Colunga and William Levy. Oh yes Gabriel Soto.
Do you think one of Reyyan’s condition of marriage was that Azat not kill Miran? I think that is a brilliant thought! That is why Azat didn’t show up to the swing place with a gun last night!
Do you think Azat and Reyyan will make it to the wedding table? I don’t. I also do not think the wedding will happen. I think Hazar will whisk his family away in the dark of night.
Reyyan’s never, is never going to happen. She loves Miran too much and he is too obsessed to let her go. Hopefully it turns to true love soon.
Thank you dondi356 for sharing that link to that VERY important scene with Miran and Reyyan before the venganza began. It was also interesting to hear the actual voices of the actors.
I would not be enjoying this dizi as much if you weren’t involved helping and guiding us dondi356! Thank you!
Thanks so much, dondi, for posting a link to that very interesting scene where Miran follows Reyyan and Zehra into that fascinating white building. For some reason the CC was not available for that scene. I did peek at another one on You Tube and saw how to create English captions.
If I interpreted what was going on correctly, Miran saw Reyyan and followed her BEFORE knowing she was a Sadoglu? And that Firat told him who she was? It was so nice to see Reyyan happy and smiling.
Or perhaps that was the missing scene where she shopped for the red dress worn during the Turkish bachelorette party? And that Miran had someone go back to buy it for her after someone (?) had talked her out of buying it?
The building they were in during the clip was “Midyat Belediyesi Kent Muzesi” The Midyat Municipality City Museum.
novelera you are right, Miran had no idea who Reyyan was. Firat told him, that girl is the reason you came to Midyat. The daughter of your mortal enemy. She’s Reyyan Sadoglu. Firat sensed something was happening. But Miran told him I’m not crazy enough to fall in love with the daughter of the man I hate the most in this world.
And BTW, Miran’s hair looked much better then.

Hercai: Amor y venganza - #21 - p 1 de 4
As the episode starts, we again see a shirtless Miran storm into Gonul's room. "What are my clothes doing here?" he angrily asks. Gonul replies, "Here's where they belong, right next to mine." Miran insists that he will never stay with her here. Gonul asks, "Isn't your revenge over? The girl you loved has left you. I'm sick of waiting for you." Not surprisingly, Miran tells her, "Don't wait for me." Gonul reminds him that Reyyan hates him, hates him enough to agree to marry her cousin. Miran isn't listening to her, he simply orders her to get his clothes back into his room within one hour and then he leaves. After he has gone, Gonul mutters, "The fragile little girl is no longer. I've changed. You will be mine. I'll make sure of it."
Zehra is remembering the threats that Nasuh (GT) had made. He'll tell Reyyan that her parents have lied to her, she's not really a Sadoglu, and then they'll see whether she still wants to go with them. Hazar enters, sees that Zehra is upset, and asks her what's wrong. She tells him about GT's threat. Hazar assures her that they'll leave, as he has promised, but if they leave now, he won't be able to save Reyyan. Zehra tells him that Reyyan is determined to marry Azat. Hazar says she's doing it because she thinks it's a way to save us, but she's wrong. He then tells Zehra that Cihan won't confront Azat over the marriage. "He wants us to send Reyyan away and thus prevent the wedding." Zehra's face lights up. "We can get Reyyan out of here. Send her somewhere. That will give us more time to find a better solution for her."
Meanwhile, Reyyan is looking sadly at the the torn wedding photo of Miran and her. Azat knocks at her door and asks permission to enter. Reyyan quickly hides the photo under her pillow. Then she tells her cousin he may come in. Azat is somewhat disappointed that she is still calling him "cousin." He tells her, "When you called me Azat, it was like hearing my name for the first time." He looks at her. "You'll never forget him. That bastard is in your head and in your heart. He's a liar, Reyyan. Everything he does is a lie." Reyyan doesn't want to talk about Miran. Azat reminds her that he has agreed to the two conditions she set for the marriage: You asked me to bring you back to your family, and I did so. And you asked that I would never touch you, and I agreed [Yikes!]. But I'll never accept what he did to you." He slams his hand against the cabinet. Reyyan tells him his anger scares her. In a softer voice, he says, "Sometimes, loving someone is not important. You can give an opportunity without love. Afterward, you realize that what you never expected to happen, did. Perhaps one day you'll love me back." Azat leaves.
Hazar comes to see Reyyan and finds her sitting on the couch outside her room. He tells her about encountering Miran. "I looked into his eyes. He can't love anyone." Reyyan says, "He will never change." Hazar adds "They've made him a dangerous man. Too dangerous to love." Reyyan tells him that she has decided that from now on, she will not be sad. Hazar tells her that there's no chance that her relationship with Azat can turn out well. "Your mother gave me an idea," he tells her. "Listen, and obey."
The scene changes. We see Miran out in the evening walking. We then see Reyyan out as well. She goes into the stable where her horse is kept. She starts petting the horse and talking to it.
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #21 - p 2 de 4
Suddenly, Miran appears. "What are you doing here?" she asks. "I don't know, he replies." "Why did you come?" asks Reyyan. "I needed to see you. I want you by my side." The two of them are now standing facing each other. "Isn't there something you left out?" she asks (thinking of Gonul's being his "legitimate wife"). "No," replies Miran. "Then leave," says Reyyan. "I'm getting married tomorrow to Azat." "You don't love him," Miran insists. She slaps him. "I do," replies Reyyan. "Then why don't you look at me and say so?" he asks. "I don't want to see you," she replies. "My heart has dried up. I hate you." Suddenly, they hear Hazar's voice calling "Reyyan." She's terrified that her father will find her with Miran. Her father enters the stable. "Reyyan?" We then wait through several minutes of commercials before finding that Miran has hidden himself. Hazar asks Reyyan, "Have you made up your mind about tomorrow?" "Yes." "You'll have to leave early." "I have no reason to stay here," she tells him. Miran overhears the conversation and angrily kicks the wall.
The scene shifts to the Aslanbey konak. Azize is remembering what Miran said about his confrontation with Hazar at Dilsah's grave. She also remembers Sultana's threat to reveal that Miran's mother had been held prisoner like an animal and tortured, "and that's the least terrible thing I can say," Sultana had said. Azize is clearly worried. Miran won't stop, and it's getting harder and harder to control him.
Miran returns. He sits down on the stairs. Suddenly he sees Reyyan appear. "Miran?" she asks. "Reyyan? You came back." She tells him, "I'll never forget what you did. My heart hurts. How could you do such terrible things to me?" "I'm sorry," replies Miran. "You can't imagine how my heart hurts. I didn't know I'd fall in love, and it hurts. Ever since I abandoned you in the cabin, I haven't known happiness." Reyyan replies, "And you never will." Miran tells her, "I need your forgiveness in order to live." Reyyan responds, "You're the person who has hurt me most in my life." Suddenly, Gonul appears on the balcony, looking down on them. She stares at them. "No!" Then Miran sees Azat come to the door and hold out his hand for Reyyan. She takes it and they leave. The door closes. Miran slumps down next to the door. "Reyyan, don't go, don't go! Come back to me." [All this is apparently only in Miran's troubled head, though there's less signal than usual that that's the case.]
Reyyan wakes up in her bed. She calls Miran's name. She feels she'll never have another place where she'll feel safe.
Miran sits at the table in the Aslanbey konak for breakfast. Also present are Azize, Elif, Gonul, and Sultana. Azize announces, "I'm sending Elif to London. It's safer for her there." Elif is surprised and angry. She objects to her grandmother that she resents being punished for what other people have done. Azize just repeats that it's too dangerous for Elif to stay here. Suddenly, Miran declares, "Elif is not leaving Turkey!" Azize tells him, "The Sadoglu will do to Elif what you did to that girl." Miran is furious. Turning to Azize, he says, "You spent years filling me with hatred and vengeance." Azize asks whether he would have sought vengeance for his parents if she hadn't brought him up that way. Miran says, "Yes. I would have carried out the revenge, but against the people who were really guilty. You made an innocent girl pay." [Wow. This is a major shift in his understanding. I think Hazar has gotten through to him.]
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #21 - p 3 de 4
Sultana then oddly pipes up, "Miran, your mother, Dilsah, was also innocent, but they had no mercy on her. These people aren't innocent, Miran." [What happened to Sultana's threat to expose Azize?] Gonul accuses Miran of not feeling pity for her, his wife. Azize announces, "Elif is going to London. That's my last word." Elif gets up and leaves the table. She says to herself, "I'm still a member of the Aslanbey family. I'm not going anywhere!" She goes to her room, gets her purse and a sweater, and leaves the konak. One of the guards tries to stop her, but she goes past him. He then goes into the konak, probably to let Azize know what has happened.
Azize sends Miran and Firat out to find Elif before the Sadoglu find her. She then turns to Sultana and tells her, "I know what you're up to. You're pressing your luck. If my patience runs out, your life will be hell.
Cihan talks on the phone with the person he had asked to get information about the Aslanbey family. He says he wants info about one more person, Dilsah Aslanbey. She's the daughter-in-law. He wants to know who her family was, how she died, everything.
Azat finds a note that Reyyan has left him. It says, "You went against everyone to protect me, but now I have to leave. I can't share my heart with anyone. I can't let you fight with your parents so you can be with me. I'm sorry, but I can't marry you." Azat is devastated. "No, you promised to marry me! You can't do this, Reyyan! You can't go!!"
Gul comes running up to where the Sadoglu family are talking. "My sister isn't there. She's not in her room! She's left!" GT immediately asks Hazar, "Do you know something?" Azat comes, furious at everyone. "You planned this!" he says, pulling the tablecloth off the table, sending all the dishes onto the ground. "It's all your fault, abuelo! I'll find her, and I swear I'll marry her. She wouldn't have done this of her own free will." He manages to accuse just about everyone, but mostly his grandfather and his mother. Finally Yaren tells him that no one knows where Reyyan is. Azat then decides this must be Miran's doing. Or perhaps the family handed her over to him. He takes out his gun and rushes to leave. Zehra tries to stop him. He then addresses everyone and declares, "You'll all be punished for what you did. I'll find out who is responsible. No one will force Reyyan to do things as they please."
Zehra finally says, "Your parents and grandfather had nothing to do with this. No one forced Reyyan to leave. It was her decision. We sent her away with Melike. She didn't want this marriage. She couldn't go through with it." Hearing this, Azat drops his gun on the ground. He says, "So Reyyan doesn't love me. Even after everything he's done, she still loves him."
GT immediately starts in blaming Reyyan. "Not only did she bring shame on our name, she destroyed all our lives." Hazar tells his father to stop. "How can you be so insensitive? Who benefits from all those poisonous words?"
Handan is very upset. Cihan then tells her that he's the one who sent Reyyan away. He spoke with Hazar; neither of them wanted this marriage. Handan looks admiringly at her husband. "It was your idea?" He then tells her, "I'll also make Hazar move out. Then everyone will see that I'm the boss. And then we'll arrange for Azat to marry the most desirable woman, and everyone will be envious." Oops, Yaren has overheard all this, and she comes into the house enraged. "I know you'd do anything to get Grandpa to respect you," she scornfully tells her father, "But no matter what you do, Grandpa will never respect you!" Cihan slaps her. Yaren is about to say more, but Handan stops her and pushes her out the door.
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #21 - p 4 de 4
When Handan and Yaren get to Yaren's room, Handan lights into her. "I'm fed up with you! I won't protect you anymore. From now on, your father will be in charge of you."
Azat walks slowly through the town, thinking about the note that Reyyan left. He recites it in his mind, and then says, "I accepted all your conditions. I said your every wish would be my desire. And I meant so little to you that you abandoned me, leaving a piece of paper." He then looks at the wedding ring he's holding and drops it on the ground. Elif sees him do this. She picks up the ring and tries to return it to him. He tells her to throw it away if she wants. She asks what if he changes his mind?
Miran and Firat are driving through the town, trying to locate Elif. They spot her talking to Azat. Firat stops the car, Miran jumps out and immediately punches Azat in the face. Elif is stunned and puzzled. Firat takes her to the car. Azat taunts Miran: "You couldn't stand the thought of her choosing me over you. She turned her back on you. Did you think she'd run to you?" Miran replies, "You're the one who lost, Azat. Don't forget that. And stay away from Elif!" He gets back into the car and they drive off. Elif asks "Who is that man?" Miran replies that he's one of our enemies, Azat Sadoglu. "How much longer will this feud go on?" Elif asks. "Until I say it's over," answers Miran. He adds, "If you ever come across that bastard, don't talk to him." Elif then remembers seeing Azat with Gonul and Yaren in the café. Looking at Miran, she says, "Cousin, I have something important to tell you." And with that, the episode ends.
How are you guys rating this novela on a scale of 1 to ten?
I loved Eduardo Yáñez in the other version.
Excellent recap Juanita! So many conversations to cover and you didn’t miss a thing. I needed some help with several conversations so thank you for the detail!
I feel for Azat. Now that we know the two conditions of marriage to Reyyan, it was never going to be a viable option for either of them.
Reyyan was slick in trying to get Miran to confess he is actually married. I really don’t understand that whole Gonul/Miran marriage. He thinks it means nothing, contrary to her and the rest of the vipers.
Hazar’s astute assessment of Miran’s hatred and inability to love was spot on. He told Reyyan that they took an innocent boy and turned him into a dangerous man. A dangerous and very troubled man based on that dream he had. “You made an innocent girl pay." [Wow. This is a major shift in his understanding. I think Hazar has gotten through to him.] I think you are correct Juanita.
I am glad Reyyan listened to her parents and left with Melike. At least she is not alone.
Gotta love Yaren getting another resounding slap, this time from Cihan. I hope everyone gets that opportunity soon, as she does not seem to have an off button!
Miran was in different clothes and sleeping alone in his own bed, did Gonul give back his clothes? When will Miran ask Reyyan what happened at the vineyard house? Once Elif tells Miran about Azat and Gonul meeting (at least I hope she tells him) how much more anger can Miran express toward Gonul?
Bad Grannie is looking more and more worried. I am sure that means she is going to get more and more evil. Time for work! Thanks again Juanita!
Thx for the recap Juanita...this was so helpful.
"So Reyyan doesn't love me. Even after everything he's done, she still loves him." Duh....big dumie...she does not love you ...is what i said to the screen. Reyan has never shown any interest in her primo so why is he still surprised that she doesn't love him. Maybe be surprised that she still loves Miran...but not that she loves her primo.
Speaking of loving...Loving every minute and every time Yaren gets slapped down. Hope it happens every episode because she deserves it. And she deserves one from Reyan as well but Reyan is not mean so she will continue to turn the other cheek.
Can someone clarify Miran's mother being help captive....was this supposedly done by Hazar? I missed a couple of episodes so that wasn't clear to me....and do we now know who Elif's parents are? I have to catch up on a few epis and recaps so forgive me if this has already been explained.
Its unfortunate that Cihan is not a a better brother to Hazar...he is trying to hurt him vs help. Hopefully Hazar is aware of this from earlier when Cihan pretended to be looking out for him. This sibling rivalry is running 1 way and the unaware sibling will be hurt the most if he doesn't wake up.
Nett
Just a wonderful, wonderful recap, Juanita! Your re-telling of so many, many conversations was just fantastic.
It's driving me nuts how long it's taking for Miran to realize Reyyan knows he's married to Gonul.
And, yes, I certainly hope Elif spills the beans about Gonul, Yaren and Azat planning to get Reyyan away from Miran. And...good for Elif for standing up to Bad Grannie.
Nett, the person who held Miran's mother captive and IIRC in a stable or barn in order to, I believe, punish her for loving Hazar was Azize aka Bad Grannie. We've had a crockpot theory floating around here that Miran's mother could have been pregnant by Hazar instead of the Aslanbey husband (Mehmet) forced on her. Incest would be avoided by the convenient fact that Hazar is not Reyyan's bio dad.
I LOVED Azar pulling all the dishes off the table. He's definitely not planning to take any more crap from Nasuh, aka Grandpa Tyrant. It's sad to see how this has affected him. But he's following in the telenovela pattern of "other man" who desperately loves the heroine and always loses out. Sometimes it's an evil and bad other man, but in this case Azat is just a young man who fell in love with his cousin.
Maybe the writers will give us Azat and Elif. She seems a bit young for him. But then Miran is 30 and they've hinted Reyyan could be 17 or 18, judging by when Zehra has talked about the pregnancy by some unknown character. And I believe Hazar married her before Reyyan was born and while she was carrying the child.
I wasn't loving that fantasy meeting between Reyyan and Miran. They did, at least on my TV, sort of grey it out. And I had the impression they meant that to mean that Reyyan and Miran had the very same dream. Because he woke up and called for her. And she woke up a few minutes later.
Yep, can't have enough scenes with Yaren getting slapped. I wouldn't even object to a closed fist punch. She was so thrilled Reyyan was getting married. She couldn't even keep to the "nice cousin" script the whole time when she brought that wedding dress.
Many thanks, VVS, Nett, and novelera, for your excellent comments.
VVS, I too feel for Azat. He does seem to have genuine feelings for Reyyan, and he has showed great courage in standing up for her. But I agree, Reyyan's two "conditions" pretty much guaranteed that a marriage wouldn't work.
Nett, I'm happy to see that you've become a member of the Slappers Club. Yaren certainly has deserved every slap and more. I see novelera has answered your question about Miran's mother's captivity. As for Elif's parentage, that's still an unanswered question.
novelera, I thought that Reyyan was going to mention that in the last real confrontation she had with Miran, but I understand why she wanted the information to come from him. Perhaps part of the reason it hasn't is that both Gonul and the marriage apparently mean very little to Miran, so little that he doesn't recognize her/them as an important part of the problem. I should also mention that I found very interesting your interpreting the dream as one that both of them had. That hadn't occurred to me. When Reyyan calls out "Miran" when she wakes up, I just thought that it showed how they both were obsessed with each other. But in thinking about the various things that happen in the dream, I now can see how they may show how frustrated and unhappy both Miran and Reyyan feel, and that therefore they both could have had that dream.
Sorry, I’m very late. That was a gem of a recap, Juanita. Really loved your asides. Loved your comment to Nett about the “Slappers Club”.
I don’t have much to add to the comments.
So Azat’s anger scares Reyyan, but Miran’s doesn’t? Okay. I’m hoping they don’t turn Azat into a bad guy. This dizi needs more good people to stand up against the evil.
I loved Azat’s attempt at the tablecloth trick. That was a highlight.

So much fun to read everyone's Great comments! I will do a short recap for tonight's episode. It probably won't be posted until the early afternoon tomorrow and please manage your expectations!
Hercai - #22 – Wednesday Quickie – Parte 1 de 2
WORST. GRANNIE. EVER.
Elif disappoints us. She doesn’t tell Miran about the café meeting of Azat, Gonul, and Yaren.
Reyyan is on a bus gazing sadly out the window. Melike is looking forward to her grandmother’s cooking. That’s where they are going.
[When we meet Melike’s grandparents later on we see that Turkish writers, like the writers of novelas in Spanish, enjoy some of the same plot devices. What I mean by that is that humble villagers or farmers are good and kind people, while most of the snakes are in the rich families.]
Gul leaves the Sadoglu konak but Risa catches her. She tries a lie about Nasuh sending her on an errand, but knows this isn’t working. She tells him she’s looking for Miran. Astute as always, she knows he likes Melike and would like her to return, along with Reyyan.
Melike’s grandparents are very warm and are surprised that Reyyan isn’t with her husband. They assume, probably because they are happy, that she is happily married.
The Sadoglu casa is in an uproar over the absence of Gul. Fortunately Miran drives up to the Aslanbey konak so that BG doesn’t get her hands on Gul. Miran is very affectionate with her. He finds out that Reyyan didn’t get married and that she’s going to Melike’s village. She hits him where it hurts by innocently telling him Reyyan couldn’t marry Azat because you can’t be married to two people, can you? We see Firat smirk.
Sultana tells Gonul that Yaren is calling her. Gonul tells her mother that she told Reyyan that Miran is married to her. Sultana is disgusted. If Reyyan tells him, it’s all over for Gonul.
Elif stands up to BG who’s reaming her about being out and about. Elif tells her that SHE’S the one that makes the streets dangerous. BG says Elif will be locked up until she leaves for London.
Firat tries to get Esma to tell him what really happened 27 years ago. But she’s “ride or die” with Azize and won’t tell him.
We meet a new character at the Sadoglu konak. Yaner, the son of one of the staff whose name I don’t remember, has come to see her. He’s in army fatigues so he must have been stationed somewhere far away.
Elif confronts Gonul with having seen that meeting and Gonul is terrified she’ll tell Miran.
Yaren is on her way to meet with Gonul and is insufferably rude to Firat. We see that Cihan is following her.
Hercai - #22 – Wednesday Quickie – Parte 2 de 2
We see Reyyan remembering when Miran gave her a mirrored compact. It’s probably a good think that they sprinkle in these scenes of the protagonists smiling and developing fondness for each other.
Sultana doesn’t like it that Firat has BG’s Power of Attorney to arrange her business affairs.
Yaren tells Gonul that Reyyan didn’t marry Azat and that she should pray that Miran doesn’t go after her. And just then Cihan grabs Yaren by the hair and drags her up the street.
Elif overhears Sultana and Gonul talking along the lines of…what if Miran finds out she told Reyyan…
Whoops. BG remembers Sultana’s threats about telling what she knows and breaks her prayer beads. [I do love to see her upset and this really freaks her out.]
Esma tells BG about Firat asking about what happened to Miran’s parents and that Miran is suspicious.
We get the big reveal:
“I’ve cared for the child of this miserable serpent for years. I’m not giving up now. Not until I’ve finished my vengeance. You can’t know you’re Hazar Sadoglu’s son, nor how your mother died, nor that Hazar Sadoglu was not at fault for any of it. Only when the Sadoglu family is destroyed by Miran can he know. My sweet vengeance! Miran Sadoglu will have destroyed his own family.” Esma looks like she’d like to run.
Miran shows up at Melike’s grandparents saying that he’s Reyyan’s husband. [How in the world would he know where a Sadoglu employee's family lives?]
Esma: “If Miran learns that Reyyan is not a Sadoglu, his hatred will stop.”” BG: “He can never know that Reyyan is not a Sadoglu.”
Cihan drags Yaren inside. He chews her out royally. Then he slaps her, and for good measure, spits on her. Nasuh shows up, irate at this treatment of the golden grandchild. Cihan tells his father that she was with an Aslanbey. The look Nasuh gives her!! Pretty sure she’s grounded again.
Miran makes himself at home and is having dinner with Melike’s grandparents and Melike while Reyyan looks disgusted.
Cihan talks to his father. He wants to marry Yaren off. When GT objects, Cihan tells him that she was the one who brought Reyyan there (the night Gul stopped a bloodbath). And she was the one who got Azat to defy you and want to marry Reyyan. Whoa! I think there might be an ugly bridegroom in Yaren’s future.
What a great surprise to find this recap novelera! I was prepared to put one together this morning, so thanks for getting one done so quickly! Maybe you and I can alternate weeks for Wednesday night recapping in the future?
So, so glad we didn’t have to speculate anymore about Hazar being Miran’s father and Very Very Bad Grannie is the worst Grannie ever! At least one crockpot theory is confirmed.
I think Esma wanted to cleanse herself from that evil darkness of Azize as she slowly stepped away after the big reveal. I was stunned to know that Esma knows that Miran is actually a Sadoglu.
Poor Dilsah, what horrors she must have suffered. Now my question is why didn’t she say something to Hazar, when he rescued and ran away with her, about Miran? It seems they were alone for a bit of time before someone found them. You would think she would have wanted him to save Miran from Azize.
I really liked the flashback love scene with Miran and Reyyan at the stables. The camera angles, eye shots and facial expressions are terrific. I also wonder if that mirror belonged to Miran’s mother because he told Reyyan it was special and he was entrusting it to her and God for safe keeping. Wouldn’t it be something if Hazar gave Dilsah that mirror as a gift.
How adorable is Gul? She is also brave! I liked how she told Miran that Firat didn’t have to drive her back home because she brought “her man” with her. Riza is a nice guy.
Melike’s grandparents are also adorable. How Miran found the humble house is another of our TN GPS mysteries.
Darn Elif, I thought for sure she would tattle on Gonul! Now that we know Miran isn’t Gonul’s cousin, their marriage might make more sense as to why it was allowed to occur.
What exactly does Sultana know? Does she also know Miran is a Sadoglu? So many more questions! Interesting that Firat has power of attorney over all the Aslanbey assets. He didn’t seem to bat an eye in lying to BG about where Miran was. I can only hope that he and Esma are BG’s downfall.
What a great way to end an eventful episode! Yaren getting her hair pulled, face slapped and GT upset. I hope she ends up with an ugly, old geezer for a hubby!
Thanks again novelera! Great recap!
Thanks for the kind words, VVS. I didn't put anything up about doing a recap because I wasn't sure I was going to do it. But that barn-burner episode needed a starting place for comments and I didn't see your offer to do so.
I think you may have been the one, VVS, who first predicted Miran's parentage. If so...hats off to you, Sherlock!
Thanks very much, novelera, for this excellent recap. You may have done it quickly, but it's really much too good to be described as a "quickie."
Once again, Gul steals the scene. I enjoyed her assuring Miran that she didn't need him to take her back because her man was there, and he would do so. And of course I loved your pointing out that Gul "hits him where it hurts by innocently telling him Reyyan couldn’t marry Azat because you can’t be married to two people, can you?" The writers have done an inspired job of making her both innocent and precocious.
Yes, I too enjoyed seeing BG so upset that she breaks her prayer beads and scrambles on her knees to pick them all up. And, though I don't like Sultana, I did like the scene where she came into the room and loomed over BG while BG was down on her knees.
Hmm, so Firat has BG's power of attorney. I was suprised that BG would have so much trust in the son of a servant. And I found myself worried about how she would respond if/when she found that Firat had lied to her about Miran's whereabouts.
Why are we being introduced to yet another character (Yaner) who on the surface seems like just another family member of a servant? Will Cihan try to arrange a marriage between Yaner and Yaren (anagrams) as punishment for Yaren? Seems unlikely (especially because a good-looking guy might be insufficient punishment). But then what is Yaner's role in this novela?
And what's with Elif? Clearly, there's a lot we don't yet know about her. It's astonishing that she can speak so frankly and critically to BG. Even if somehow she were the daughter of BG's son Mehmet and Dilsah (and hence the only child of Mehmet), I can't see BG prizing Elif so highly and ignoring that she's also the daughter of the "dishonored" Dilsah. I don't know how old BG is. She often looks quite young (perhaps still in her 50s?). Is it possible that she's Elif's mother?? I recall that at one point I wondered whether BG and GT had been, um, something other than enemies. (But pity the poor child that had those two for parents.)
VVS, congrats on your Crockpot Theory being right! I bet you may also be right that the jeweled compact that Miran gave Reyyan was originally a gift from Hazar to Dilsah. And yes, Telenovela GPS surely helped Miran find Reyyan.
I think a few other folks thought that Hazar was Miran’s father, I just put it out there as an initial thought.
Juanita, I think that Elif could well be BG’s daughter! I also remember BG telling Elif that her father and Gonul’s father both died in accidents. Mehmet was the one murdered, supposedly by Hazar, so we still know next to nothing about Elif.
I am glad you brought up the new character Juanita, I also was wondering what role he could play in all of this. Yaner and Yaren (anagrams)…I would not have noticed this, thanks for pointing it out.
Great recap, novelera. Thanks so much.
Tebrikler, VVS! Your crockpot theory was a winner! We are only on Turkish ep 8 out of 69. They revealed this so early, there must be lots more twists and turns to come.
Gul is Miran’s and Reyyan’s little sister! Gul mentioned that Riza missed Melike. They would make a nice couple.
Embajador friends, did you think of Kahraman when Azize broke her beads? lol
