Hercai: Amor y Venganza - #8 – Parte 1 de 3

Reyyan jumps into the backseat of the car that’s stopped on the road. She begs the driver to lock the car door. But, it’s Firat driving, and Miran gets into the backseat on the other side. The doors are locked and Reyyan can’t get out even though she would jump from a moving car.

Firat says he’s happy to be the first to find them [How did he manage to be driving down that road?] Firat says that everyone is searching for them. Miran tells Firat that he needs a house where no one can find them. He says he has a good hiding place.

Hazar and Nasuh return from the big OK Corral standoff in the street. Hazar hears Zehra shrieking that they took her child. Hazar tries to get hold of her, but she goes right for Nasuh and begins trying to strangle him. [Zehra, his fat neck and jowls won’t let you succeed.] They pull her off him, but she continues to scream that all of them killed her daughter. Nasuh tells Hazar to get her away.

In the kitchen Zehra sobs. She tells Hazar that Azat said Reyyan jumped from a bridge. Miran jumped after her, but neither came to the surface. Hazar tells her to calm down. He believes that Azat told that story to protect Reyyan from Nasuh. Zehra: “Then go find her. I won’t believe any of this until I hear her voice!”

Azize is relaxing with her eyes clothes, a smug smile on her face. Elif bursts in asking her grandmother what was meant by recuperating their honor (what she heard in the street). Bad Grannie ignores her. And then tells her that from now on she’s not permitted to leave the house without her permission. She orders her to go to her room. [It wasn’t said out loud, but perhaps BG might think the Sadoglu could take revenge on her with Elif.]

The Sadoglu Tyrant calls a family meeting. “They deceived us. This whole thing was part of some dirty revenge. The evil exists after 27 years. Now they’ve sunk their colmillos that they’ve spent years afilando (sunk their fangs in that they’ve spent years sharpening)." Cihan tells his father that no one would dare… Hazar looks guilty.

Yaren asks: “Who are the Aslanbey?” Nasuh tells them he wants them all to be alert. Cihan: “I thought the Aslanbey were exiled.” [I think this is a false cognate in Spanish. I think they stayed away not that they were forced into exile.] Nasuh: “That bastard who called himself Miran Atsoy was Miran Aslanbey.” Yaren looks shocked.

Zehra jumps to her feet. “What is this feud you’re talking about that they would take revenge on my daughter, who is innocent?” Nasuh orders Hazar to get his wife away. And then he says that only his sons should be here for the next part. Zehra lunges at Nasuh and he actually backs up. She tells him that Reyyan came from HER womb and she’s HER daughter.

With only the three men there, Nasuh asks Cihan what he knows. Cihan replies that Azat saw them both jump from the bridge, and neither one surfaced. Nasuh tells Cihan to bring their bodies to him if they’re dead, and, if they’re alive, shoot them, and then bring the bodies to him.

Hazar confronts his father. “It was a trap the Aslanbey set. Reyyan is innocent.” Grandpa Tyrant: “This girl was dishonored; there’s no other way.” Cihan tells his father that he agrees with his brother. That Reyyan is their family. He says he’s an uncle, almost a father to Reyyan and he won’t permit this. He gets a big telenovela slap from Dear Old Dad that knocks him off his feet.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - #8 – Parte 2 de 3

Nasuh tells Hazar: “The one you call daughter is paying for something. It’s your responsibility. The children pay for the sins of their fathers. If I’d sinned, you’d pay for it. But, since you sinned, Reyyan must pay.””

Cihan goes into hi8s bedroom and is confronted by Handan. She asks: “Why are you worried about Reyyan?” I’ll synthesize what I think he told her. He says basically that his father won’t live forever. And, I think that Hazar is the elder and would then be in charge in this patriarchy. He tells his wife that it’s in his best interests to support his brother. He tells her to make sure their kids don’t ruin his plan. Handan thinks it’s a land dispute.

But then Handan goes on: “If they only wanted revenge against the family, why did they choose Reyyan? Your father wanted to give them Yaren. If it only concerns the honor of the Sadoglu, they would have taken Yaren. Why this insistence on Reyyan?"

Cihan has a flashback to Hazar saying to Nasuh: “Could it be them?” He tells his wife that it’s not just the whole family; it’s to do with his brother. Lady Macbeth tells him they need to know the whole story so they’ll know where to attack.

Hazar goes to his wife. Zehra calmly talks about their relationship. She calls it a complication from 17 years ago. “You accepted me with a child in my womb. You’ve been a father to her and a husband to me. I gave you another daughter. I can never express my gratitude. If I mean anything to you, I need you to tell me the truth. For whose sins is my daughter paying?”

He tells her she’s right. Neither she nor Reyyan have dishonored him. He’ll tell her everything. But, of course, his cell rings before he can. It’s from the hospital. Zehra grabs it from his hand. Telemundo gives us a commercial, but I will just say that Gul woke up. Zehra is SO relieved. Hazar tells her to go. He’s going to look for Reyyan and bring her back even if he has to sacrifice himself.

Zehra finds Yaren on a cell phone call in Reyyan’s bedroom. The brat sneers and says it’s bigger, maybe she’ll take it. When Yaren says Reyyan is dead, Zehra slams her against the wall. Some servants come in. Zehra says that if anyone moves anything in this room, she’ll despedazaré (tear them to pieces) with her own hands. For once Yaren is scared.

Firat drives up to a large, dark house. Some city lights are visible way in the background. Reyyan at first refuses to get out of the car. And when she gets out she tries to limp away. But Miran grabs her arm and pulls her inside. She tells him she’d rather die than be there with him. And, furthermore, she’ll kill herself. When he doesn’t think she’d do that, she replies: “I didn’t know what you were capable of, and you don’t know what I’m capable of!” She tries to leave, but he slams the door, gets close, and sort of smells her. Then he says that he wants her to live. She replies that he killed her once; just let her leave. Miran: “If I wanted to abandon you, I wouldn’t have jumped after you. “ He takes her to a bedroom and locks her in.

Nasuh storms out of his house on foot, shrugging off his guards.

Firat asks Miran what in blazes is going on. He jumped off a bridge after this girl. Miran says he hasn’t decided yet what to do. Firat says he has to return her to her house. Miran: “Didn’t you see what they already did?” Firat: “This girl is your enemy. She’s the daughter of the man who killed your father.”

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - #8 – Parte 3 de 3

Nasuh is grappling with about six of Azize’s guards. [When they show the courtyard area of this palace, it looks a bit like it could be the same place as the Sadoglu mansion.] He shouts up to Azize: “Show your face!” She comes out wearing a red head covering. “What are you doing with your dirty feet in my mansion?” Nasuh: “It’s the last thing I want. But I came to tell you something. Send these guys to look for the body of your grandson. If I find it first I’ll throw it into the plaza of Midyat, and you’ll have to get it from there.”

Firat says he’s going to Midyat. Azize will be getting angry. He gives Miran a cell phone that he says belongs to the company. Miran: “You don’t know what happened, nor have you seen me.” Firat says he’ll get the electricity fixed and says there’s some dry clothes there.

Miran opens the bedroom door with a kerosene lamp in his hand. He brings Reyyan some dry clothes. When she refuses them, he tells her she’s shaking with cold. She tells him to leave. He refuses, but keeps his back to her while she changes.

Nasuh shouts up to Azize that her grandson jumped off a bridge after Reyyan and he never came up. “He took his own life, saving me the trouble of killing him.” Gonul overhears this and believes it.

Azize replies that an Aslanbey would never do such a thing. I gotta hand it to the old tyrant; he’s got guts. He tells her to kill him now. But if she doesn’t she’ll wear this forever. He throws that black scarf she left in the street on the ground. “Stay away from us!”

Gonul starts screaming at Bad Grannie. She tells her that her husband dying was her fault; he died for Azize’s revenge. BG turns her stone face on Gonul and tells her she’s stupid to believe the enemy. And she goes on to say: “If any one of you believed that old man, leave my house right now.”

Gonul runs after Nasuh. “Is it true?” She starts to say that Miran is not her brother, but her… when Sultan stops her. Sultan then calls Firat who says he hasn’t seen Miran. Sultan realizes that she had already told Firat about having heard that Miran jumped off a bridge. Thus he took that too calmly if his best friend were really dead. She tells Gonul to be patient.

Firat calls Miran to tell him that, if Sultan knows about the jump from the bridge, then Azize probably does as well. Miran tells him not to visit. His grandmother will be having him followed.

Reyyan tells Miran: “This makes no sense. My father will find me and then he’ll kill you.” Miran: “So, you’d care if I died?” Reyyan: “Your death doesn’t bother me; I don’t want my father to become a killer. Let me go.”

Miran: “Forget it. There’s no way back from this. We’re together and will be forever. Our destiny is only one destiny now.” Reyyan: “I’ll never take the same path with you. I’ll never forgive you. You are my enemy.” She tries to leave and he pulls her toward him. He ties her hands, saying something about her hurting one of them.

Azat is slumped in a miserable heap on the bridge. Hazar and Cihan run toward him. “She really jumped?” Hazar collapses, sobbing, saying that it’s his fault. Cihan holds his brother and tells him that, if her body wasn’t found, maybe she got away.

Some guys, presumably from the Aslanbey, are searching by the water. Firat’s mother calls him and asks if it’s true. He tells his mother that they’re alive. It turns out that the, I think, servant of Azize, Esma, is Firat’s mother. But Sultan overhears what she says on the phone.

Wow, this novela gets the pulse rate up, doesn’t it?

Thanks so much, novelera, for this wonderful recap. It was complete and great fun to read. I loved your explaining to Zehra that Nasuh's "fat neck and jowls won’t let you succeed" in choking him." (Alas!) And your calling Handan "Lady Macbeth" captured her personality perfectly.

As always, I appreciate your including some interesting and useful Spanish, in this case despedazaré.

Interesting idea that BG was insisting on Elif's not leaving the house without permission not as punishment for asking questions but to prevent her from being hurt by the Sadoglu to get revenge. I just assumed BG was being vindictive, but perhaps you're right and there's more to it than that. Certainly everyone seems to be obsessed with venganza.

There's one thing I'm a bit confused about. In an earlier episode, it was said that Zehra was 17 and pregnant when she met Hazar. He married her and treated the child she gave birth to as his own. You say that she talks about it as happening 17 years ago. I was under the impression that he met and married her more than 17 years ago. Is Reyyan really only 17?

Just a thoroughly excellent recap novelera! Thank you! The Telemundo CC were terrible last night and even though it is easier to understand the Spanish voice overs, for some reason my Spanish ear was off. Your extra translation of some of the dialogue is very much appreciated.

How did Firat know where to find Miran? This is like Bad Grannie finding the cabin, but I won’t complain, I did hope for Firat.

Lady Macbeth! Perfect comparison to Handan novelera. She is a smart, crafty lady, unlike her rather plodding husband.

I did hear Firat, in an earlier episode, refer to Esma as his mother. I also noticed that when Sultana call Firat, her name came up as Sra. Sultan, but I keep hearing everyone calling her Sultana. However we spell her name, she is a very clever threat to a lot of people in this TN and should not be underestimated.

Zehra was a brave mother last night, no way her tiny hands could come close to reach ¼ around the jowly Tyrant’s throat. He sure did show a pair of avocados standing in the courtyard of Azize.

Lots of dancing around what really happened 27 years ago, but at least we now know that Hazar was definitely involved.

Juanita, I am still confused about how Zehra and Hazar even met (maybe GT sent him away after the incident with the Aslanbey and they met?). The way she explained it last night, it did sound like Reyyan is only 17.

How in the world is Miran going to earn back Reyyan's trust and love. She is a tough nut for sure!

My pulse definitely gets up there novelera. I could not believe that Firat told his mother about Miran being alive and she so boldly repeated it out loud for all (or at least Sultan(a) to hear! Thanks again for a super recap!

YES..!!..Great Recap !!..AWESOME Naming :DEVIOUS,SNEAKY-TWO-FACED- HANDAN:LADY MC'BETH!!

I can really sink my teeth into that trope..! LOVE IT!!.....'ULULATING'...!!!

Novelera: I am amazed you're able to write a recap daily like this! Thanks! These Turkish novelas (dizi it's called I learned) are great!! I love seeing the cultural differences between Mexican/U.S. styles and the Turkish. The villains are great (the old fashioned way) and the protagonists are as naive and/or gallant as ever. This one was one of the more popular ones to come out of Turkey. I've been reading up on them.... Anyway this love story and the mysterious reasons such revenge are really intriguing. I hope when we finally learn the details it's as satisfying as it should be. --Two wealthy households both run by brutish bullies!! So, how long till Miran gets a divorce and tells grannie to get stuffed? How long until Nasut has a disabling stroke from all his misplaced anger? Hmmm.

Sorry, my comments were for Hercai

herc

Thanks, all. And...Jardinera654 it was so nice to see you here in Telemundoland! You have been recapping for many, many years. I just wanted to let you know that I am NOT recapping Hercai every day. We are fortunate to have four recappers for this one: Juanita, VVS, dondi356 and yours truly. And this novela certainly is old fashioned, sometimes in the 16th Century type of old fashioned.

Juanita, you hit on the very thing that puzzled me. Earlier on Handan insulted Zehra in the kitchen IIRC about having been pregnant at 17. And then Zehra herself last night mentioned "what happened 17 years ago" or at least that's what I thought she said. In my mind Hazar married her with, say, a three or four year old. But then she'd have to have forgotten Hazar coming into their lives. At least once Nasuh called Reyyan illegitimate. But I think something was said about Zehra being a widow, so not really illegitimate.

VVS, thanks for giving us that avocados call-back to La Suerte de Loli!

I was hoping for something a bit different. I thought it would be interesting if Reyyan got away from Miran and we saw quite a bit of them being apart. Reyyan would develop some sort of career or way to support herself. Maybe that is still a possibility.

Herc

Thanks so much novelera. This was great.

“[I think this is a false cognate in Spanish. I think they stayed away not that they were forced into exile.]” you are correct, novelera, and you are on target with your interpretation. “Exile” was a bad translation. What Cihan said in Turkish was, didn’t these problems end? Hasn’t this family disappeared?

I am glad it was Firat who picked them up, but he did a stupid thing later on by telling his mother.

And I laughed at Zehra trying to get her hands around Nasuh’s “fat neck and jowls.”

“Lady Macbeth” lol

“but he slams the door, gets close, and sort of smells her.” The Turks have this thing with the scent of a loved one. They are always sniffing each other. They will say things like I missed your scent. These lines often get changed in translation.

I think we are all wondering about Reyyan's age. She doesn't seem to remember any other father but Hazar. The actress is 27.

Jardinera 654, glad to see another Turkish dizi fan on the patio. I agree with your assessment. There are a few on the Embajador patio who are also watching Hercai. I hope they will drop in to comment as well. It’s funny I’m currently watching two Turkish dizi on Spanish language stations.

I hope I get a good ep to recap tonight. It might be up a little later on Saturday.

Recap coming later today. Sorry.

Steve, I've stopped watching Cafe. I fell so far behind and I'm doing a nightly recap of Embajador at that time.

Halimacandy, you have interesting things to say, but the Telemundo y Más policy asks that people not post comments about the present episode until after the recap is posted. Please keep that in mind for your future postings.

Many thanks.

Herc #9 part 1

Esma turns to face Sultan, what can I do for you? Something very important, she says, I want you to tell me where Miran is. Esma tries playing it cool, how would I know? Sultan’s not buying it, I heard enough of your conversation. Where is he? Esma swears she doesn’t know. Firat didn’t say and he’d be suspicious if I asked. Sultan issues a threat. You have until tomorrow morning to prove your loyalty. Or else you will have to find a new place to live. She will tell Azize and Esma and Firat will suffer her wrath.

In the hideaway, Reyyan is sleeping sitting up on the couch and Miran is watching her sleep. He moves her hair and touches the bruise on the corner of her mouth. Then he unties her hands. She wakes up and asks, what are you doing. I brought you soup, he says. She looks at it. You call that dirty water, soup?

Does he look insulted? I’ve never made soup before, he explains, so I don’t know. She won’t look at him. So you’d rather starve to death, he asks? I wouldn’t even drink water you brought me, let alone soup you made. She dumps it on the floor.

Miran tells her she is a very stubborn girl. She asks him to tie her up again. Do what you want or I’ll escape, she says. He takes the rope, throws it into the fire and says, it wasn’t the rope that kept you here, it was me. I’m doing this to keep you alive, but you don’t get it.

It was a dark and stormy night [sorry, I couldn’t resist]. The search is on for Reyyan. Cihan finds a boot and he calls Hazar over. That’s Reyyan’s! Azat sees Miran’s jacket. It’s a good sign. It means they made it out of the water! They are alive! Azat wants to continue the search but Cihan thinks they should stop because of the bad weather. Cihan tells Hazan to go to Zehra and Gul and he and Azat will return home.

Hazar wants to continue the search, too. Then Azat points out that the Aslanbey crew are still searching around the river. They don’t know, but at least we know they are alive and Reyyan isn’t with them. We can resume the search tomorrow. Hazar relents.

Esma goes preemptively to see Azize. She needs to talk. I heard something. Miran is alive. Azize perks up. I spoke with Firat, Esma says. Miran asked that his whereabout not be revealed and Firat won’t disobey. Please don’t be upset. Azize asks, is the girl with my grandson? Esma nods yes. Azize asks, where are they? Firat wouldn’t say. But that’s not the problem, she tells Azize and she tells her about Sultan. She overheard my conversation and gave me until tomorrow to find out where Miran is or she will have me thrown out of the house.

Azize instructs Esma to do what Sultan told her. Esma doesn’t understand; Firat will never tell her where Miran is. Azize figures there’s only one place they could have gone—to the house by the vineyard that I gave you. Esma gasps and agrees. Azize continues, wait until morning, and say that Firat told you. Now go. Azize says to herself, ah Sultan, you and your games.

Sultan goes to Gonul’s room. She brings her the good news. Your mom knew it, she tells her, Miran is alive! Gonul is joyful, then she asks, what about Reyyan? Is she alive? Are they together? Don’t worry about that now, Sultan answers, the important thing is Miran is alive. And tomorrow we will find out where he is. Sultan asks Gonul not to do anything stupid [does this mean she will? we’ll see] Gonul is relieved and Sultan leaves.

Miran tends to the fire. His back is to Reyyan. She speaks, I thought about it over and over but I still don’t understand. How could you tell me so many lies while looking me in the eyes? You even told me that you loved me. That morning when you left, did it break your heart to leave me? He stays silent with his back turned to her. Why bother asking, she says, you don’t have a heart. You can’t know the pain. Miran leaves to get firewood.

dondi356

Herc #9 part 2

Reyyan opens a window to see if she could escape. Too high. She notices his phone on the table and it’s not locked. She calls her mother who is at the hospital with Gul. Zehra is overjoyed to hear from her daughter. Are you alright? Reyyan asks for Gul and gets the good news she is okay. Where are you, Zehra asks? Reyyan has no idea but it’s on a vineyard. Zehra asks if she is with Miran.

No time to answer because Miran comes back. He grabs the phone and throws it down hard. He’s angry, wo did you call? You will give us away! I called my mother, she snaps back, to ask her about my dying sister.

Zehra is upset at the abrupt end to the call.

Reyyan tells Miran, it’s all your fault. She shouts and pushes him, you’re to blame for all of our problems! I wish I’d never let you put your hands on me! I thought you were a great rock, but you toppled over from a slight breeze. You ruined my life and tore my family apart! She cries, I wish you were dead. You should have drowned when you jumped after me. He reminds her she wouldn’t be alive if he didn’t. Maybe not, she answers, but I wouldn’t be suffering either.

In one of the stupidest moves I have ever seen from a galan, Miran takes out his gun and tells Reyyan to shoot him. He jams the gun into her hand and yells, kill me! She aims. I saw paradise in your eyes… but in the end you took me to hell and left me there. I hope you burn in that hell now. OMG, she shot him!

Miran falls on the couch. He says nothing. Reyyan looks horrified, drops the gun and stumbles to the door. She tells herself, don’t look back; there’s no going back, Reyyan, mirroring Miran’s words the morning after the wedding. He’s in shock [Literally? Figuratively? You gave her the gun, stupid!] She slowly walks away. She’s crying as she remembers their first kiss…dancing at their wedding….their wedding night….Miran leaving her the next morning… saving her after she jumped from the bridge. She turns around and runs back to the house.

Miran is barely conscious. He puts his hand out in her direction. You’re not real, he says, you…are a mirage. Reyyan wouldn’t come back for me. Reyyan starts blubbering. She checks out her handiwork. [it’s so strange to see a bloody wound on a Turkish show. They always blur this out.] What am I going to do? she sobs. She picks up the phone and tries to put it back together. It doesn’t work. Miran passes out and she pleads with him, open your eyes. Look at me….

Reyyan is doing what she can to take care of Miran. She looks at the ring he carries around his neck. He says her name. She tells him she has to go get help, he is losing a lot of blood. He grabs her arm and stops her from leaving, don’t go. I have to get help or you will die, she replies.

But you said you hated me, he reminds her, you said you wished I was dead. Reyyan says that was her anger talking, [check, don’t make this girl angry.] I do hate you… but I don’t want you to die. Death would be a reward for you. You should live and be punished for your sins. I promised you in the cabin that I’d never forgive you and I’d never let you forget it. I’m keeping my promise and you will carry that guilt the rest of your life [I hope he makes it to the end of the show].

She tries to leave again and he stops her. if you want to keep me alive you will have to take the bullet out. If that’s what I have to do to save you, she says, I’ll do it.

Hazar is with the old guy who helped Reyyan? Who is this guy? Did I miss something? Zehra is calling Hazar but he does not answer. The old guy says, your little one opened her eyes and the other didn’t die. You are here instead of with your wife and you won’t answer her call. Hazar says he is ashamed. I couldn’t tell her that my past has come back to torment us. The old guy asks, even with your past do you think you deserve this?

Herc #9 part 3

Hazar answers, all I’ve done is live according to the love in my heart. But that love has tormented me for years. It punishes us all. And now Reyyan is being punished for that past love. The old guy asks, and it should be you being punished?

The old guy tells Hazar, there’s light in all forms of darkness. Maybe you see something as a sin that to God is a virtuous act. We cannot comprehend our Lord’s vastness. Sometimes we think we lose when in the end we end up winning. Hazar asks, you believe this could end well? The old guy nods yes. I hope you are right, Hazar tearily says.

The maid whose name I can’t remember brings Yaren a tea. She sits with her and asks, what do you have to say about all of this? Very clever of Azize Aslanbey to plan her revenge for all these years. [Is this the woman who overheard Handan and her kids?] The maid says, she even managed to shake up Mr. Nasuh. Yaren is offended. One thousand Azize’s couldn’t hurt Grandpa. My grandpa is the most powerful man on earth!

Handan comes into the kitchen and asks Melike to warm milk for Nasuh. He’s locked himself in his room and hasn’t eaten. There’s the sound of a door from outside and the ladies hurry out of the kitchen.

It’s Cihan, Azat and a worker. The ladies ask for news. Cihan says only that they are alive. They are alive, Yaren asks, is Miran with Reyyan? Nasuh comes charging down the stairs, did you find anything? We found their clothes. Nasuh is riled up. I told you to shoot them in the head!

Azat speaks up. Shoot them in the head? What for? What did Reyyan do? Nasuh turns his ire on Azat, you have to ask? That girl dishonored us! Everyone in town witnessed it. Azat defends Reyyan. Miran planned all of that so why is it Reyyan’s fault? I don’t understand the following but Azat says, you used Reyyan to get revenge for the lands. [what lands? What revenge?] He shouts, you couldn’t share the land with another family, could you? So you ruined Reyyan’s life.

Azat really lets his grandad have it and so far Nasuh is taking it. You hit her, he reminds Nasuh, if that wasn’t enough you tried to marry her off to an old man. And even that wasn’t enough so sent her off to die! Why? For a piece of land? Azat shouts, how can a piece of land mean more than your granddaughter?!

Handan tries to stop her son, but he shouts at her, too. She jumped into the water to end her suffering! She jumped in front of me! Yaren looks affected by this [why this time?] All of you ruined her life! Azat is on a tear, you clipped her wings! She’s part of the family! Instead of protecting her you want to shoot her! Why do you hate her so much, abuelo?!

Nasuh finally bellows, it’s none of your business! It’s not your place to protect her. He mentions the dishonor thing. You defend that slut?! Azat shouts back, yes, I am! It’s not fair! Azat makes the point that the Sadoglus brought shame upon themselves. We couldn’t protect ourselves. We were lied to! You were going to give your granddaughter to someone you didn’t know!

Azat makes a declaration, from now on, I will not allow anyone to put a hand on Reyyan. I’ll find her and bring her home! Nasuh yells, why would you bring her here? What will you do? Azat lowers the tone and calmly says, I will find her, bring her, and make her my beloved wife. Handan and Yaren gasp. Azat tells Nasuh, I will protect her. I will heal all her wounds and protect her with my life. He ends with a shout, none of you will ever hurt her! I won’t allow it!

Looks like this caught Nasuh off guard, he says, you are in love with Reyyan… Azat answers, I have loved her as long as I can remember. You never noticed how I look at her.

Herc #9 part 4

Nasuh realizes that’s why Azat shot that gun. He pieces the rest of it together and says, Hazan knew and that’s why he sent Reyyan off with you. Handan, Cihan and Yaren look worried. Nasuh accuses them all of knowing this. He yells, you all knew! He’s enraged, I am the great Nasuh Sadoglu! In this house a bird doesn’t flap its wings without my knowledge! You all hid a secret from me. I thought the enemy was out there but it’s in my own home! [can’t wait for this guy to have a stroke] You disgust me! He leaves and the group disperses.

Handan and Cihan talk. Handan says she thought about telling him. It’s done, he says, just when my father should be proud and shake my hand and say good job. You and the children have made me a miserable man with no hope for the future. He walks away.
Reyyan heats up a knife and digs the bullet out of Miran.

Hazan finally shows up at the hospital. Zehra gives him the good news. Reyyan called! She’s alive! He says he knows. Did she say where she is? In a house with Miran but she doesn’t know the location. Zehra says she tried to call her back but the phone is off. She’s got the number on her phone. Hazar asks how long ago did she call? Not long.

Gul wakes up and calls to her dad. I lost my balloon and my dress got dirty. She asks if he can buy new ones. He says he will bring her the most beautiful star. Gul asks for her sister. She will be here soon. Get better and don’t worry. Zehra cries.

Miran and Reyyan sleeping. She’s on the floor but with her head on Miran’s pillow. They look very peaceful. I’m thinking of the wedding blessing, may you grow old on one pillow. He wakes up and touches her hair. He moves closer to her.

Later that morning, Miran wakes up. He looks much better. He doesn’t see Reyyan, so he calls her. She’s there and he’s relieved. She brings him soup. [it looks a lot like the dirty water soup he made] He tells her he thought she left. She flatly states, I have compassion, unlike you.

He picks up the spoon to eat and stops. He tells her his shoulder hurts (so he can’t lift the spoon to eat). Is he telling the truth, maybe not? Reyyan tells him to use his other hand. The spoon shakes in his hand [seems ridiculous, he’s got to be putting her on] So she feeds him the soup. She even blows on it first to cool it off. lol.

He tells her it tastes like the soup his mother made, just as delicious. I didn’t make it for you to like, she says, I’m just trying to keep you alive. He replies, I know and then you will punish me. No, I won’t she says, God will do it for me. That leaves him with something to think about.

Nasuh visits little Gul at the hospital. How cute she’s stroking his beard. Grandpa has brought her a whole bunch of balloons. Cihan is there as well and he says that Handan and Yaren would have come but they thought there would be too many people. [yeah, right] They send their regards. Zehra thanks him. [yeah she knows.]

Gul tells Nasuh she’s grown up now because of the gunshot. Kids don’t get shot. [Wow, that’s sad.] Azat shows up and Gul is happy to see him. She tells him her sister hasn’t come yet. She has to or else I’ll get sick. and my heart will hurt.

Herc #9 part 5

Hazar gets a text from an unknown number, Cihan takes notice: “if you want to know where your daughter is, come to the entrance. Come alone.” Hazar goes to leave and Cihan stops him, where are you going? Hazan says he’s getting water. Cihan says he will get it for him. No, Hazan also wants to get some air.

Sultan is wearing a hijab with a face covering. She calls to Hazar. He stops, who are you? She removes her face cover. Hazar is shocked. How dare you come here! She tells him they can’t speak here. I have something to tell you….about your daughter. She covers up again and they step out of the hospital. Cihan follows.

Hazar asks Sultan, you sent the message? Where is my daughter? I’ll tell you, she says, but first, I have a proposal. Hazar is angry, what are you saying? I don’t make deals with the devil! Sultan tells him, I don’t care about her game of revenge. I don’t have ill will toward your family.

I’m here for Miran and you’re here for your daughter, she says. We both know if we don’t work together, we won’t be able to protect our children’s lives. Hazar says, how could you use your son for something so despicable? You’ve used him in a filthy game! Why should I trust you? Sultan reveals, I’m not Miran’s mother, I’m his mother in law.

And we are out.

It was a dark stormy episode dondi356! What a terrific recap. So much detail and so many great comments.

“Why bother asking, she says, you don’t have a heart. You can’t know the pain. Miran leaves to get firewood.” The look on Miran’s face did indeed indicate that he knows pain, not sure what he is waiting for to tell her the truth. But maybe saying I needed vengeance for my parents for what your dad did wouldn’t really endear him to her either.

“I saw paradise in your eyes… but in the end you took me to hell and left me there. I hope you burn in that hell now. OMG, she shot him!” I could not believe it! That girl has some avocados (sorry, I couldn’t resist!). I was glad she came back to save him.

Hazar is with the old guy who helped Reyyan? Who is this guy? Did I miss something? You did not miss anything dondi356, at least we know why the kindly gentleman helped Reyyan, he knows Hazar. So is it possible that Hazar was in love with Miran’s mother? Is it possible that Miran is Hazar’s son??? Holy smokes I am overthinking this novela!

I give Azat some credit standing up to Grampa Tyrant and his family to defend Reyyan.

So glad Gul is better, she seems like the only person in that family that doesn’t cause bickering and strife.

Sultan and her games. Azize will definitely not be happy. What a wonderful recap dondi356! I saw the long recap you did this morning for the Uni patio and I am grateful you are helping us with this Turkish TN! No cowhides in this one!

Wow, dondi356! You always can be counted on to provide an excellent recap, but this one is spectacular! You've provided all the important dialogue, plus humorous asides (e.g., "It was a dark and stormy night [sorry, I couldn’t resist]") and some important questions.

Miran has always come across as a cocky guy, but perhaps never more so than in last night's episode. He smugly tells Reyyan, "it wasn’t the rope that kept you here, it was me." He's right, of course, but still.... And then there's his handing Reyyan his gun and telling/daring her to shoot him. This isn't the first time I've seen a guy do this, but I think it may well be the first time I've seen the woman take him up on it. Of course, right after the gun went off, there were several minutes of commercials, and I really was not sure whether she'd actually shot him until the novela resumed. It sounded as if the gun went off, but.... Yup, she shot him! And then, of course, she spends the rest of the episode saving him." Sigh.

I was interested in your saying "[I hope he makes it to the end of the show]." It's hard to imagine that both Miran and Azat will make it to the end of the show. Azat started out as an annoying crybaby, but he has apparently inherited his grandpa's avocados (thanks VVS) and is having a full-blown avocado fight with GT. All the theme music indicates that Miran and Reyyan will be together at the end, but increasingly I find myself rooting for Azat. (Of course, I also. rooted for Octavio in La Suerte de Loli). Needless to say, the more I like him, the more nervous I am about his promise to protect Reyyan with his life.

Speaking of Azat, I too was wondering what he was talking about when he accused GT of using Reyyan to get revenge for the lands. I'm glad you raised these questions ("what lands?" "what revenge"). Right now, I have no answers. In yesterday's episode, Handan said something about a land dispute, but I didn't know what she was talking about, either.

And then there's the kind old man who helps Reyyan when she's tossed out of the car in her wedding gown. The camera rested on him for a while in an earlier scene, and now we see that Hazar knows him, and he may know quite a bit about Hazar. Like you, I'm very curious about who he is.

One other thing I found interesting about this episode was the battle of wits between Azize and her daughter, Sultan(a). They are two clever and determined women. The battle between them should be interesting.

Thanks SO much for this recap, dondi. I loved "it was a dark and stormy night"! You got all the details and reading it was like seeing the capitulo all over again.

I was wondering why that boot was such firm evidence that Reyyan was alive. Couldn't it have washed ashore?

Also pretty amazed by the kindly, bearded old man. When he rescued Reyyan, it looked like a chance happening. But he knows the family. They also showed him looking on at the OK Corral scene. Another thing about that scene with Reyyan in her wedding gown. Before the old man whisked her away, they showed a couple of guys getting ready to close in on her. This gave me the impression that, once "dishonored", a woman is fair game for rape in this particular part of Turkey.

Why would Miran think that house by a vineyard is the perfect hideaway? I suppose he might not know about Azize giving Esma that property. But Firat would surely have known and have told his friend, wouldn't he?

Let's all visualize a big time stroke for Nasuh. I want him drooling and wearing an adult diaper. He doesn't deserve a quick, fatal heart attack.

I agree, dondi, blowing on the soup was cute. She shot him but doesn't want him to burn his tongue!

So it seems the land dispute either was cut out or will be explained later. This is the second mention, the first being by Handan, about a land issue.

I loved Azat's scene where he gave his grandfather the business.

You beat me to the punch again, Juanita. I'll just clarify that Sultan is Azize's daughter-in-law, not her daughter. She was married to Azize's abusive son.

herc

Thanks, novelera, for pointing out that Sultan is Azize's daughter-in-law. I knew that, but I lost sight of it as I was writing, and I have the feeling I could have done it again had you not corrected me.

Late to this party but had to say "Thank you, Novelera and dondi356!" I'm enjoying the recaps and commnets so much more than the episodes (yes, I'm still watching :-) Looks like we have another Turkish dizi where the main couple has and endless impossible love due to the galan being really cruel and stupid. Oh, well...it's entertainment :-)

VVS, "That girl has some avocados (sorry, I couldn’t resist!)." LOL she sure does! Like everyone else here, I couldn't believe she shot Miran! And like Novelera, I waited until after the commercials to believe it.

Azat's "a full-blown avocado fight with GT" (thanks Juanita) was impressive and he brought up some very good points...now will tha phase GT? Doubt it!

Regarding the "land dispute" IIRC when the ladies were first discussing it, I think they just assumed that the rivalry between the families was because of a land dispute (this must be very common, just like the honor killings)...and ever since then, they've attributed the dispute to this.

I haven't figured out who or what role that kind old man has either , but I sure do like him! Hoping to see more of him.

VVS, " So is it possible that Hazar was in love with Miran’s mother? Is it possible that Miran is Hazar’s son??? Holy smokes I am overthinking this novela!" We over think alike; I thougth the exact same thing!! But I went a litle further. Assuming tha Miran's father was just as abusive as his brother and as mean as Azize, Miran's mother was probably "stolen" from Hazar, and Hazar went to rescue her. And MAYBE, Miran's father was the one who killed Miran's mother!

Novelera, "Let's all visualize a big time stroke for Nasuh." Visualizing...:-) Maybe if we all do it together, it will come true..."Visualize it, and it will come" LOL

Hello All! Happy Independence Day!

Rgv Chick, I like your thought about Hazar trying to rescue Miran’s mother. I agree that it is a bit far fetched to think Miran might be his son. I also think that Miran’s mother was killed by the father or even by Bad Grannie and the lie poured into poor Miran for his whole life about the Sadoglu’s being responsible.

Novelera, count me in to the visualizing a massive stroke for Grampa Tyrant!

Enjoy the day everyone!

Herc

Well, it’s a bright and sunny day where I am, and a happy and safe 4th to all! Thank you for reading and commenting. Very insightful.

VVS,

Thanks for importing avocados to Midyat.

And the way you laid it out, there is a possibility that Miran could be Hazar’s son. That would make Bad Grannie a Very Big Bad Grannie! Using Hazar’s son against him for her revenge, wow! I like it! I’m going to quote Gulsiye from Embajador: “not even the devil would have thought of this”. There’s no such thing as overthinking at Caray, the place where “crockpot theory” thrives. So what if it doesn’t come true, it’s so much fun!

Juanita,

I’m finding it hard to get a read on Miran. He seems to have the same stony look on his face all the time, except for very brief moments when he’s looking at or thinking about Reyyan. Where I was watching Reyyan shot Miran and they immediately went to commercial. I needed those commercials to get over the shock.

“It's hard to imagine that both Miran and Azat will make it to the end of the show.” You know I always worry when watching a Turkish drama. And I feel the same way about Azat’s transformation from crybaby to a grown man with avocados. I don’t think he will end up with Reyyan, though. I feel the endgame has to be Reyyan and Miran, if they both make it to the end.

novelera,

I wondered why Firat thought the hideaway was safe, too. Didn’t he know it was a gift from Bad Grannie?

About Nasuh: “I want him drooling and wearing an adult diaper. He doesn't deserve a quick, fatal heart attack.” Sounds good to me.

Rgv Chick,

There are a few of us “Embajadores” who are following Hercai. The parallels are freaky.
“Miran's mother was probably "stolen" from Hazar, and Hazar went to rescue her. And MAYBE, Miran's father was the one who killed Miran's mother!” Very interesting theory, too.

Also: There’s still another possible lost child out there—Sultan’s son.

Thanks to all who reassured me I didn’t miss anything re: the old man and the land dispute. We are only at Turkish ep 4 out of 69, so we have a very long way to go.

dondi356

Enjoying the speculation that might explain Bad Grannie's insistence that Hazar killed her son and daughter-in-law. And it seems quite possible that she might have produced TWO abusive sons, one of which killed his wife.
