Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #45
Part 1 of 4

Elif assures Azat that there is no news about Reyyan but she does want to meet him in person to talk. She tells him to meet her on the back street outside of the Aslanbey konak, she will find a way to get out and meet him there.

Right after Miran talks to HAG, who once again lays on the guilt trip and she claims the Aslanbey have no other enemies other that the Sadoglu, he heads out of the konak. His car has been taken to the garage and as he waits for it to be brought out, he sees kids riding bicycles and has a memory about he and Reyyan while they were “dating” before the fake wedding and venganza.

At what seems to be an outside park, Miran has a nice bicycle with a basket full of flowers for Reyyan. He asks if she likes it, she says, yes. Go for a ride, he tells her. I don’t know how to ride a bike, she says. Really? Miran responds, I will teach you. No, says, Reyyan. What if I fall, then you will laugh at me? Sensing she is afraid, Miran tells her, this from the girl who fearlessly rides horseback down mountains at breakneck speed? Or the girl who flies in the air on a swing in the sky? Come on, this is much easier. You will be driving on your own in 5 minutes.

Reyyan mounts the bike and says, what if I fall? Holding her closely, Miran tells her, I will catch you. And if you can’t catch me? she asks. Then we will fall together, says Miran. She begins to peddle, he instructing and holding the seat of the bike to steady her, but of course, she does fall and it is right on top of Miran.

For a few seconds, they stare into each other eyes, he touches her hair, are you okay? Yes, she says, but I can’t do this, as they untangle from each other and stand up. Come on, says Miran, I said you could do this in 5 minutes, that was one minute. Smiling at her as she brushes off dirt from his white shirt, he convinces her to try again.

As predicted, Reyyan does learn to ride the bike and she is so excited. She stops and says, now it is your turn. He holds her and says, you know, everything is so much better with you by my side. She gives him a quick kiss on the check and he responds in kind. They end up riding the bike together.

(I think this was a beautiful scene because it helped explain the way Reyyan said “goodbye” to Gul before marrying Miran, by drawing those bicycles on the wall and telling her to fly high and live her dreams. Reyyan was relieving a great memory and imparting the lessons on her sister. I also hope it is a glimpse of what can come of the ReyMir love connection).

Miran sits on the stoop outside the konak, saying, where are you Reyyan? The guard has to call his name several times to break him out of the trance and let him know his car is ready.

Zehra and Hazar are looking miserable in the morning sunrise. Cihan comes up and sort of apologizes to Hazar, saying he understands how concerned he is about Reyyan as Azat’s life has also been put in danger. Cihan says, I let the police know about Reyyan’s kidnapping they are looking for her. Are you just going to stop looking? Demands Zehra. Hazar, says nothing, but Cihan recommends that maybe they consider calling the Vice-Principle Celal, the right hand to the Turkish Principle, Hasmet. Maybe their contacts could help? Hazar agrees, yes let’s go talk to him. Zehra looks hopeful.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #45
Part 2 of 4

Elif makes it to Azat’s truck, she thanks him for coming to speak with her. She asks him not to get angry with what she needs to say. She begins by saying, I don’t think you kidnapped Reyyan, but… Azat immediately gets angry, she touches his arm and both seem moved and startled. Please, she says, let me finish. I don’t think you kidnapped her, but our people do. Of course they do, says Azat. You know how much I care about Reyyan and the place she holds in my heart, he says.

Doing a good job not to look upset or hurt, Elif continues, all I want is for neither Reyyan or you to get hurt, so please, if you get news let me know and I will do the same for you. The most important thing is that Reyyan is found safe and I know that is what will happen. Azat agrees to her request.

He then asks her, why couldn’t you have just told me this on the phone? Why did you risk yourself to come and see me? She says, because people can lie with words, they cannot lie with their eyes and I know now that you don’t lie as your eyes are clear as water. She thanks him for meeting with her and says she has to get back. Her gaze is meaningful as she heads back to the konak. His gaze is pensive and then he gets a call. His face turns angry.

Hazar and Cihan are meeting with the Turkish Vice-Principal explaining the situation with Reyyan. The VP says they will try and help to find her, using their contacts. Down the street, Miran is watching this exchange, until a gun is pointed at his temple and Azat demands to know why he is following his father and uncle when he should be looking for Reyyan!

A calm Miran says, I am looking for Reyyan. Azat says, well stop following my uncle, because it is clear that you should be following your grandmother. Miran says, I am not following your uncle either, with clear meaning in his words. Azat loses it, saying, I did not kidnap Reyyan! This momentary frustration gives Miran the opportunity to jump out of the car and put his pistol in Azat’s face. (To the Principals’ office, both of you!).

In the latest showdown, Azat and Miran hurl the usual, she is mine, no, she is mine because you cannot protect, her argument. The new detail provided to Azat is Miran sharing that had he not kidnapped Reyyan the night of the henna ceremony, GT was going to have her killed. This gives Azat pause. (I agree with your comment on Sunday night Nina: “I have to wonder if the director have to yell "CUT" so they can stop laughing, with everybody pointing the guns at each other.”)

Hazar and Cihan finally see what is transpiring and both run to stop Azat. Hazar breaks them up and tells them to grow the heck up and focus on the issue at hand! Meaningful looks continue between Miran and Azat, as the words Miran just spoke sink in and Azat knows what he said about GT is true.

The cocky Miran, disengages the pistol hammer with great flair in front of Hazar and he gets back into his car. Azat leaves as well. Both Hazar and Cihan shake their heads and the VP looks disgusted.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #45
Part 3 of 4

GT and Yusuf are sitting in the gazebo. GT wants to know what the heck Azize is up to now and how in the heck can Hazar team up with Miran to look for Reyyan? Calm as always (what does this guy know? Everything? Viewerville needs a sit down and have tea with him and Esma) Yusuf says, Hazar knows what he is doing, he only teamed up with Miran to find his daughter. Their conversation is interrupted by Azat hauling butt into the driveway and jumping out of the truck yelling, Grandfather!! Why are you yelling at me in the manner, roars GT, what is your problem?

Azat, yells back, is it true? Of course, Handan and Zehra want to know what is going on, Azat nicely, but firmly tells them to go back inside, he needs to speak with GT. Answer me, you were never going to let me marry Reyyan were you? says Azat. What does that mean? says GT. If Miran hadn’t kidnapped her that night, were you going to have her killed?

GT at least has the decency to look a bit guilty. So what Miran told me is true, says Azat, why do you want Reyyan dead? Quick to defend himself, GT turns the table on Azat saying, like your uncle, you are going to listen to the words of the enemy over me?

Azat is dumbfounded saying, Wow, GT, why do we need the outside enemy? Azize doesn’t need Miran to do anything, we have you! Furious, GT grabs Azat, but Yusuf breaks them apart. Azat says, today my grandfather died for me, you are dead to me. Azat heads back to the truck and peels out the way he came in.

GT and Yusuf go back the gazebo with GT ranting, this woman Azize will do anything to turn my family against me! She kidnapped Reyyan and now is making sure my own family turns against me. Pensively, Yusuf remembers the brief exchange of a glance he had with Azize the day she came with her posse to shoot everyone on the farm.

The woman is evil, continues GT. She doesn’t even care about Miran, if she did, then why does Firat have all the rights to the money and property and not Miran? She has an issue with me not Hazar or Reyyan and I don’t know what that issue is, spouts GT. (Really? How can you not know?).

Of course, Yaren walks out to the patio in time to hear this little tidbit of news regarding Firat. Hmmm, she says, so Firat is responsible for the Aslanbey wealth and not Miran? Interesting, she says, interesting. We can see the evil hamsters in her head turning that wheel furiously.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #45
Part 4 of 4

Walking in the alleyway by the konak, Miran says to himself, I will find you Reyyan, I will find you. Just then he hears Azize’s voice calling to Hunky Bar Bodyguard (HBB), aka Mahmoud. Miran stays hidden behind the corner wall and watches them head down the street on foot. Where are you going so secretly in the middle of the night Azize Aslanbey? asks Miran. He proceeds to follow on foot.

Azize goes to the old house where she first met with Hanife. Miran, in stealth mode, continues to follow. HAG tells HBB to hide himself, but let her know if anyone else arrives. Entering the house, Hanife is waiting for her. Not even greeting her sister, HAG asks, where is Reyyan? Hanife tells her that no one knows. The Sadoglu did not kidnap her and are very worried, they blame HAG for this.

HAG looks puzzled by this. Hanife asks, are you responsible elder sister? HAG snaps, if I were, why would I be asking you? Hanife says, if not you, then who? She continues, maybe Hazar Sadoglu is right, you might have another enemy out there and he is even more suspicious now that he saw Miran’s bullet riddled car. He found the car? says HAG. I have to get rid of it immediately!

Did you order the ambush on Miran? says a shocked looking Hanife. That is not important snaps, HAG, I need to find Reyyan before Hazar tells Miran anything about the car, otherwise Miran will never give up the search and will forget the venganza. Hanife puts two and two together, did you also attack Miran and Reyyan in their new house? What are you going to do if Miran figures all this out sister?

HAG rolls her eyes saying, Miran has too much to try and figure out. Hanife looks horrified, but gets an even more horrified look when the door opens (please please, please, be a porous TN door) and into the house comes Miran, followed by a nervous looking HBB. Hanife pulls a scarf over her head, trying to conceal herself. What are you doing here with this woman and why are you meeting secretly in the middle of the night? demands Miran.

The very short episode, with way too many commercials, ends.

HERCAI

THANK YOU VVS. WE GOT ALOT OUT OFF
30 MINUTES. I WONDER IF THEYLL ADD ON WHAT THEY DIDNT SHOW LAST NIGHT TONIGHT?

EVERYTIME the 2 families will come together with guns blazing and loud
Talkin each other nasuh n the hag
Look at each other knowing they are
The cause off this fight and they just stand there watching the kids
Point guns and scream at each other
That ol guy that was watching the hag knows she is the cause of all of this. And she knows he knows. And monopoly grandpa knows he did something to make her act out This way and he blames reyyon. If I Was her I would not want to be any
Where near these golks again except
Mom and dad n baby sister.

Azat must have narrowed sancar's truck since he wont be needing it anymore.

Thank you VVS. 4 parts out of 30 minutes good recapping vvs.

herc

Thank you for the comments Nina! I think you are right that GT (Monopoly guy) and HAG are just using their family as pawns to avenge whatever happened 50 years ago. Actually, it really is HAG, but since her return to Midyat, GT is hell bent as well in destroying her.

I wasn’t sure if GT was playing the game with Yusuf about not knowing why HAG was ticked off (understatement) at him or if he really doesn’t know.

I can’t wait for tonight to see if Miran heard any of that conversation HAG had with Hanife and how the HAG will lie her way out of this one!

herc

You've done it again, VVS: another terrific recap! I especially appreciated the way you described and explained the bicycle scene. When I watched the episode, I thought the scene was a bit too long, but your description helped me see more in it. And of course I loved your later aside "(To the Principals’ office, both of you!)." I wonder whether the Turkish audience for whom the novela was originally intended see this daily ritual with Miran and Azat as amusing or serious.

Thank goodness, Miran has finally told someone about GT's plan to have Reyyan killed after the henna ceremony. And now GT knows that it's no longer a secret. I hope he spends sleepless nights worrying about this. He certainly never lost sleep over his vile plan to have Reyyan killed.

Yes, I too am hoping it's a porous TN door through which Miran just entered. I guess we'll find out tonight. Fingers crossed.

Again, MANY thanks!

herc

I appreciate the comments, Juanita! I watched a portion of this from the Turkish episode and I thought for sure they would cut out the bike scene, but I am glad they didn’t.

I think you bring up an interesting point about how the Turkish audience viewed some of these outlandish gun pointing, yelling interactions. Did they laugh like we are starting to do or is this par for the course in everyday, out in the boonies, Turkish life?

I try not to look up too much about this dizi because it is really easy to see some spoilers out there and I struggle to not watch ahead as it is! I hope you get to find Reyyan tonight Juanita! I am very interested in who snagged her this time!

BTW all, my schedule will allow me to do the recap for the Wednesday episode.

Herc

Thanks so much VVS! I also loved, "(To the Principals’ office, both of you!)." And I would like to have tea with Yusuf and Esma, for sure.

Even though it was a very nice scene, I thought the bicycle stuff went on a little too long as well. Especially since they seem to cut things that are more important.

Whether they laugh or take it seriously, this had good enough ratings to last 69 eps in Turkey and it has good international sales. I can imagine the actors laughing after scenes like this.

That was a very strange look between Yusuf and Azize in the flashback. Like he sort of recognized her or remembered something and then she looked a bit surprised and quickly averted his gaze.

LOL Nina, borrowing “Sancar’s truck”. Yes, he's gonna need it back for season three!

dondi356, what are you doing with all that extra time on your hands now that Embajador is in hiatus? 😊 I don’t know how you did such spectacular recaps every single day and twice on Friday for Hercai! I noticed you invited the Embajador watchers to join us on the Herc patio. I hope a few do so.

I am a complete love sap and enjoy those romantic scenes with ReyMir, albeit few and far between.

I am not surprised that Hercai has been such a hit worldwide. It really is very different than anything I have ever watched.

Herc

Thx for the recap VVS. Always appreciate them.

I too am glad that Miran revealed the murder plot to Azat but for some reason I thought he had revealed it to Hazar somehow. Perhaps I misunderstood when Hazar went off on Nasuf for not supporting Reyan. At any rate, glad someone in their clan knows that Nasuf is not a saint by any means.

All this plotting by BG/HAG is confusing. She does nothing straight forward but guess that's part of her plan. Glad Hazar planted the seed of another enemy with Miran...but more importantly, he revealed what he learned about the car. Can't wait for Miran to learn that his grandma is a horrible person. He will be devastated but hopefully Reyan will be around to help him heal.

Nett

HERCAI

He is gonna be so hurt to learn that he has wasted 27+ years hating his father. Hes got a whole family
He has to get to know. I love just seeing him and little gul together.
She is just the cutest little girl.
Besides melek.
I ALSO IT'LL LOVE SEEING MIRAN AND REYYON togethe, I love the way he is with her. Can yall see him with taran that way? The girl is a nut job. Miran told her it's always been reyyon. Good for him.

herc

Wow, VVS, a lot happened in 30 minutes and you described it beautifully!

I loved the "evil hamsters" in Yaren's head. Wonder what she'll do with the knowledge that Firat has control of the Aslanbey finances. If she were solely driven by $$, she'd make a run at winning his heart back. But she seems to me like one of the garden-variety obsessed other women we've seen so many times in novelas.

Yes, wouldn't we love a cup of tea with Yusuf and Esma, who seem to know, sometimes literally, where the bodies are buried?

Got a kick out of "to the principal's office, both of you"!

I'm sure they are teasing us with Miran's following Azize and finding her with Hanife. She'll lie her way out of it immediately. But Miran is definitely getting more and more suspicious of her.

It was interesting how she sort of went nuts when Miran asked about other enemies. It's either that she only wants him focused on Hazar Sadoglu and that's the reason she flew right off the handle; or there really is someone else out there and she's afraid.

herc

I enjoyed reading the comments Nett, Nina and novelera!

Nett, I think Miran falling in love with Reyyan has really put a wrinkle in what Azize originally had planned out, so now she is forced to regroup and replot to get what we think is her ultimate revenge, having Miran kill Hazar, his daddy. I think it is going to take a lot of evidence and deprogramming for Miran to completely cut ties with HAG.

Nina, Yaren is a nut job! I have not been able to figure out why she thinks Miran is still an option. Why haven’t we married her off yet? I hope this pause in the bridegroom search leads to something entertaining for us!

I was wondering how Yaren could utilize Firat’s power over the money to her advantage, novelera. But if it is revealed that Firat is an Aslanbey, she will definitely want a piece of that action! I agree that Azize is starting to look concerned and maybe afraid of this “unknown” enemy out there.

herc

Nett, Nasuh has always been nasty to Reyyan, stemming largely from her not having Sadoglu blood. Hazar married Zehra when she was pregnant with another man's child. Hazar loved Reyyan from the moment she was born and raised her as his own child. But Nasuh has always resented Reyyan and treated her badly for not being what he considers a "real" Sadoglu. Reyyan does not know that Hazar is not her bio daddy, and for some reason Zehra and Hazar are afraid to tell her. When Hazar rightly accuses Nasuh of never supporting Reyyan, he's referring to Nasuh's many years of mistreating her.

Hercai: Amor y venganza - #46 - p 1 de 3

The episode begins as a stunned Hanife accuses Azize of being responsible for shooting up Miran's car. In walks Miran. Azize doesn't miss a beat. She tells Hanife to keep doing her job, reporting on the Sadoglu. Hanife leaves. Azize then tells Miran not to follow her around as if she's the enemy. "You want to know about Reyyan, and so do I," Azize assures him. Miran asks what Hanife told her. "Nothing new," replies Azize. She tells him that the Sadoglu reported the incident to the police, trying to make it seem as if they're not involved. She also tells him, "Hazar Sadoglu is looking for your car. I know he's planning something terrible. Why would he want to find the car he had shot at?" Miran remembers Hazar's pointing out to him all the evidence that the car revealed. Miran doesn't say anything about this to HAG. Instead, he tells her that he's not interested in the car, all he cares about is finding Reyyan. HAG tries to make Miran again doubt Hazar. "I think you should fear a man who is using his daughter's kidnapping to ally himself to you. It's best that you watch your back."

HAG goes back inside the Aslanbey konak. Miran continues to walk outside. Suddenly he staggers. He stares at a pot containing a dead plant. He has a flashback to Reyyan telling Melike that she planted the plant Miran gave her outside so that her grandfather wouldn't find it. She thinks the plant isn't doing well. Perhaps it's sick. Perhaps it's lovesick, says Melike. Miran appears in the background and signals to Melike to leave. Reyyan talks to the plant, telling it "I know he misses you too." She then sings to the plant (in Turkish), unaware that Miran has come up directly behind her and is listening. He finally holds out a rose. She realizes he is there. "I'll bring a rose every day and leave it for you until we are together. He puts the rose in her hair and leaves. The flashback ends, and Miran stares at the dead plant with no leaves.

Miran then goes into a dark room. I'm puzzled as to where he is. The room looks much too stark and lifeless to be his room. There's what looks like a single bed with a bare mattress and no bedding. He again asks, "Reyyan, where are you?" Then he has another flashback. In this one, he and Reyyan seem to be in the countryside. She tells him she's too tired. He tells her to close her eyes. "Do you remember when you said you had never seen the sea?" he asks. He takes a sea shell and holds it up to her ear. She hears the noise of the sea. She winds up asking him, "Will we take care of our love forever?" He assures her they will. The flashback ends. We see a tear in one of Miran's eyes.

Miran goes outside and starts walking again, very hesitantly, almost as if he's in a trance. Suddenly he hears a gunshot. He turns and sees Reyyan lying on the ground and a car driving off. He rushes over to where she is. He pleads with her to open her eyes. Firat has also heard the gunshot and appears by Miran's side. He helps Miran pick up Reyyan from the ground. Miran tells him to follow the car that dropped her (though how he can do that isn't clear, because the car drove off immediately after dropping Reyyan on the ground).

Miran carries Reyyan into the Aslanbey konak and puts her in bed. He tells Esma not to let anyone come into the room. Esma leaves. Miran keeps pleading with Reyyan to open her eyes. Finally, she does. "You found me," she says. "I'll always be with you," he tells her. "Now that you're looking at me, my world has started again." Reyyan is worried about her family. She asks Miran to take her to see them. He tells her that she's exhausted and should rest. He promises that tomorrow, he'll take her to see her family. Reyyan doesn't want to wait.

herc
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #46 - p 2 de 3

Reyyan tells him, "I can't rest without seeing my parents. Take me, please." Miran tells her, "I'll never leave you again. I tried to find you in the village, but you weren't there." "What village?" asks a puzzled Reyyan. Miran replies, "The village they took you to. I spoke to a boy you asked for help." "You're mistaken," says Reyyan. "They covered my eyes and locked me in a room. I never went to a village." "Are you sure?" asks Miran. "You changed cars at a gas station." Reyyan tells him she doesn't remember that. Miran tells her it doesn't matter, she should get some rest.

The scene shifts to Reyyan's distraught parents. Zehra says "This is unbearable!" The phone rings. They'r both almost too afraid to answer it.What if it's bad news? Of course, it's Miran telling them that Reyyan is OK, and that he'll bring her to see them, on one condition. "Don't make a scene. Don't make her sad. Also, she wants to see Gul if she's not asleep." They agree. Afterward, Zehra insists, "We shouldn't leave her there. We must do whatever is necessary to keep her with us. Promise me."

Miran and Reyyan come down into the courtyard on their way to go see her family. Sultana mutters under her breath, "there's no getting rid of her." Elif greets her warmly, as does Sehriyah. Gonul steps forward. She and Reyyan stare at each other. Miran gives Gonul a warning look. Gonul perhaps surprises him by saying, "We were all very worried, but now you're back, querida. Welcome back, Reyyan." (Wow, this devious woman is definitely HAG's granddaughter.) Then it's HAG's turn. She immediately starts criticizing Reyyan, telling her, "Your imprudent behavior will lead people to say that the Aslanbey can't protect their women." Reyyan is not intimidated. She tells HAG, "I know you went to see my family with your men." HAG doesn't respond to this, instead asking Miran whether there's any news of the car, and do we know who was behind it. Not yet, replies Miran. He and Reyyan then leave, and the people in the courtyard scatter, leaving just Sultana and HAG. Sultana says, "One disaster averted. I wonder when the next one will be." HAG tells her that if she can't stop saying stupidities like that, she should just be quiet. Sultana replies, "You no longer have power over this house. It's cyclical. Even the most powerful fall and are replaced by someone better."

Gul asks her parents whether Miran will drop off her sister. No sooner does she say they than Reyyan appears. Lots of hugging and kissing and "I missed you." (I confess that Zehra is really getting on my nerves. Her shrieks, her crying, her fainting, her insistence that Reyyan stay with them. She even hugs strangely.) Hazar asks Reyyan whether she's OK and did anyone hurt her. The four of them continue to hug and kiss and enjoy being together. Meanwhile, Miran stands outside the room's glass door, watching. "That's how a father embraces his children," he says. "Tha't how parents look at their children. If I had a family, I'd be like you, Reyyan. I wish I could rest my head in my mother's lap. I have no family history that I remember." We then see Miran holding the hand of a young boy. The boy looks up at Miran. I'm not sure whether Miran is trying to picture himself as a father, or whether he's remembering his father (if so, he looks EXACTLY like Miran) holding his hand. Miran then puts his hand on the door handle leading into the room where Reyyan and her family are. He seems about to open it. Suddenly, there's a lot of wind. The plants are blown about by the wind. And just as suddenly, the wind stops and the boy disappears.

herc
Hercai: Amor y venganza - #46 - p 3 de 3

Miran continues to stand outside the room. He says, to himself, "Hazar, I'll never forgive you. You've made me an orphan. I will not permit you to have your happiness as if nothing happened."

Inside the room, Zehra is trying to convince Reyyan to come back with them. "You're still paying for sins you didn't commit," she says. "What happened? Who did this to you? Why did they take you?" Reyyan tells her parents, "A car came and made us stop. There were three men. They forced me out of the car. It's ahrd to remember. They locked me in a room. No one said anything to me. They didn't hurt me. Then they dropped me in front of the Aslanbey konak. I'm OK, Nothing happened. I know Miran will find out what happened." Zehra pleads, "Please don't go back to Miran. He promised to protect you, but he broke his promise. I won't let you return to that woman's house." Reyyan says nothing. Hazar asks, "Don't you say anything to your mother? Are you willing to sacrifice yourself and go back to Miran? Don't ask me to take you back there." Reyyan replies, "I won't go back with you. I won't leave Miran. He's a good man. I know he loves me." Zehra replies, "Are you trying to kill us? Think of me! Think of your sister!"

Miran is now outside the hotel where the meeting with Reyyan and her family is taking place. Hazar comes outside. Miran tells him, "My heart breaks when I see a happy family. All I can do is watch from a distance." Hazar replies, "You took away my daughter. Reyyan decided to abandon us because you planted the seed of love in her heart. In the name of the love she has for you and what you too feel for her, give up your revenge, give up your anger." With that, the episode ends.

Terrific recap Juanita! Thank you! It was an interesting episode for our tragic hero/galan. I found the “Miran Memories” helped me understand a bit more about how tortured he really is and why this new found feeling of love is painful and confusing. How he thinks he can love and have revenge against his loves family is the real story that needs to be told. Like Nett said yesterday, I hope Reyyan can help heal those wounds.

Miran was at the empty Sadoglu konak looking at the dead rose bush and then he went into Reyyan’s now empty room and had the seashell memory. I really enjoyed the rose plant memory and listening to Reyyan sing. It was lovely.

I think the little boy was an image of himself as a child. I found it interesting that the younger Miran was the one who brought him to the door with the meaningful “there is our daddy and sister” look. The wind storm I suppose was meant to indicate the torment in Miran, especially after his declaration about still taking revenge on Hazar.

Thank you for all the dialogue translation Juanita, you always listen and express those conversations so well!

I appreciate the recap!

herc

Thanks very much, VVS, for your insightful and helpful comments. I especially appreciate your telling me that Miran was in Reyyan's empty room at the now-abandoned Sadoglu konak when he had the seashell memory. I knew that his looking at the now-dead rose bush triggered the memory about the rose bush, but I didn't realize that he was in Reyyan's old room at the Sadoglu konak when he had the seashell memory.

I found it strange that Miran's memory of the person who was apparently his father shows a man who looks EXACTLY like Miran, complete with the silly hairdo that he's fortunately now changed. Why couldn't they find a good-looking, dark-haired person to represent his father? I think that would have made more sense. I confess that it never occurred to me that the little boy gave a meaningful "there is our daddy and sister" look. (Indeed, because the man holding the little boy's hand was IDENTICAL in appearance to Miran, I wasn't even sure that the little boy was Miran rather than an imagined son.) Oh well, many thanks for clarifying this.

herc

Now I am confused about that scene at the hotel, Juanita. I guess I thought Miran wasn’t sharing another memory, but had an out of body like experience, where he was the one in the wind storm holding the hand of the young Miran. I am going to have to watch that again.

herc

Thanks so much for your wonderful recap, Juanita. I was wondering how to describe all those looks and silences!

ITA about Zehra. The woman is completely delusional. Her daughter married a man. There's no evidence of his being anything but loving toward her (except for the fake marriage of course). How does she think a married woman comes back home without cause from the man?

I guess I thought that was Miran in the hallway and the boy was also Miran, as a child, and reminding the adult Miran of how he'd suffered from losing his mother and father. The boy had tears on his cheeks. I never thought it was Miran's father holding the child's hand.

They've been going with a lot of woo-woo stuff lately. I found the scene after Miran and Hazar find the Aslanbey bodyguard and the abandoned car confusing also. It was sort of in a grey tone, but showed Miran seeing Reyyan being pulled away from him.

Miran looks at Hazar's pleading face, not for the first time he's done this. And for an instant he almost seems to see that this man is incapable of doing what HAG said. And then he sort of shakes himself and goes back into the same old, same old.

That was definitely heart-wrenching watching Miran see the whole family together, smiling, embracing, holding hands and saying that this is what a family looks like.

While I was watching those flashback scenes I kept thinking they were odd. If Miran's plan all alone was to leave Reyyan after the wedding night, why would he have bothered to court her so lovingly? The marriage was arranged. He could simply have been pleasant and smiled at her some. These scenes with large swings, shells to listen to the sea, rose behind her ear, etc., would be unnecessary.

Thanks very much, novelera, for your excellent comments, and thanks too to VVS, for your notion that Miran was having an out-of-body experience rather than a memory. I'm heartened to see that the three of us have had differing notions of how to explain that scene at the hotel. I love novelera's term "woo-woo stuff" and really like it as a way to describe that scene, as well as some others.

Novelera, you raise a really interesting point about Miran's loving courtship of Reyyan. Perhaps it's because he has been somewhat obsessed with Reyyan since the first time he saw her, three years ago. And that obsession became much stronger once he got to be with her in preparation for the venganza. So although he was brainwashed by HAG into thinking that he needed to avenge his father's (and mother's?) death, he was pulled very strongly in the opposite direction by his feelings for Reyyan, feelings that HAG hadn't realized or counted on.

herc

Juanita and novelera, I thought the “woo-woo stuff” could have been some Tibetan tea left over from the Loli retreat that was accidentally mixed in with Miran’s breakfast tea. Esma needs to stop going to the Suerte de Loli stand in the market, but then we won’t have any avocados. 😊

herc

VVS, I am bent over laughing about the Loli tie-in. There were SO many ridiculous scenes in Loli, and that "retreat" that Karen dragged Loli to was right up there with the nuttiest. We needed Tibetan tea to get through some of those Bruno and Melissa scenes.

herc

novelera, it is a bit quiet on the patio today and it reminded me of Loli, when it was just a few of us joking around about the ridiculous stuff. Your woo-woo reference was very funny and really reminded me of the Tibetan retreat! I needed a laugh today!

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #47
Part 1 of 4

Miran tells Hazar, Reyyan came to me voluntarily, she married me voluntarily. Hazar shake his head, yes. Miran continues, but you, you took my mother from me, there in not a wound that my love with Reyyan cannot heal, but every time I see you, that wound bleeds again. My grudge and my anger will never go away. Miran steps away from Hazar, trying to stay calm.

Hazar follows him pleading, you cannot have half your heart in love with my daughter and the other half full of hate for me. Don’t do this for me but for Reyyan, her mother, for Gul. My daughter cannot be happy with a man who has made her father the enemy. Give up this venganza, my son. (This gets Miran’s undivided attention). Crying, Hazar continues, I came here not as the enemy, but as a father, a father who wants the best for his family. Don’t you want the best for you and Reyyan? I don’t want to do any harm to you or your family. Taking a step forward, Hazar says, Miran…

Miran takes a step back and holds Hazar from moving forward with his hand, keeping the distance between them. Miran says, you will always be my enemy, Hazar Sadoglu. You are the killer of memories and childhood dreams. That family you have built, you stole from me. We both love Reyyan, but she is with me now and I will show your children your true face. I will not give up my venganza, your children will know you are the murderer of a mother and father. Then you will know how it feels to lose your family. Then you will understand me. Hazar does not respond, but just looks sadly at Miran.

The tense discussion is mercifully interrupted by Reyyan, Zehra and Gul exiting the hotel. Gul rushes over to Miran, saying it is about time I see you Miran, don’t you love me anymore, you never come to see me! Miran smiles saying, I did come to see you while your sister visited with your mother. Well, I will never sleep again because you always come to visit me at night, say Gul. You have to sleep, says Miran, so you can grow big and strong. Reyyan smiles at the cute exchange.

Miran takes Reyyan’s hand, while Zehra glares and Hazar looks sad. Gul again breaks the tension saying, thank you for completing your promise, even if it was a bit late and bringing back my sister. Then she motions for Miran to join her at kid height level, saying, I am sorry I said you had a black heart, you have a beautiful heart, just like my sister. She kisses him on the check. Looking up at Hazar, Miran tells Gul, I will always keep the promises I make to you and your sister. He tweaks her nose as she smiles. Reyyan says good bye to her parents, well at least to Hazar because Zehra just glares and Gul. As she and Miran drive away, Zehra demands to know why Hazar let he go back with Miran. Hazar tells her, we have to have more patience and find the proof that Azize is lying. Then we can rescue both of them from her. Our daughter is in love, she will not leave Miran.

Back in their room at the konak, Miran asks Reyyan if she is hungry so Esma can make her something to eat. Reyyan says she isn’t hungry and sits down in the bed/chair. Miran kneels in front of her and says, I will never leave you alone again, I did not know what my grandmother was planning on doing. It is not your fault, says Reyyan, nothing happened, it is over. Miran tells her, I will make sure the people who did this to you pay. Can you give me every detail you remember? I know it is painful. Reyyan says, I will tell you everything I remember, but not now. Can we talk tomorrow? Yes, says Miran. it has been a rough day.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #47
Part 2 of 4

In the early morning, Reyyan wakes up, sitting in the chair, Miran’s head is in her lap as he sleeps. (These two remind me of my Army days, where we could just fall sleep anywhere). She strokes his hair, thinking. She glances over to the door, most likely thinking about the HAG across the hall. Reyyan sighs and goes back to sleep. Later that morning, she has a nightmare remembering the kidnapping. She awakens, yelling, Miran!

He jumps awake and tries to calm her down. She tells him that 3 men dragged her from the car, blindfolded her and drove her to a place where she sat in a chair. No one spoke to her or said anything at all. Agitated, she tells Miran that she was only trying to catch up to HAG so nothing would happen to her family. Miran says the kidnapping wasn’t her fault. She continues, once the 3 men put in the room, I never heard them again, the only think I heard were heavy footsteps (we hear these footsteps) and a chair pulled across the floor (we hear this too) as if this person sat in front of me. (Okay, that is just creepy).

Miran comforts her with a hug, saying it is all over, calm down. He looks worried and says, why did these guys kidnap you? Can you remember anything else? Reyyan gets upset and says she doesn’t want to keep reliving the details. He tells her to just rest, they are together and he won’t let anyone hurt her again. They hug and now Reyyan has a strange look on her face as if she is hiding something.

Breakfast is served on the patio outside ReyMir’s room. Sultana is her smarty pants self, saying, look at us, all having breakfast as if nothing happened. ReyMir join the family breakfast. Elif asks how Reyyan is doing. Reyyan says, better, thank you. (BTW, when did Reyyan get a new dress? If I recall, she had the white one she got married in and the two dresses Elif loaned her. I guess I missed the shopping trip between gun fights, yelling and kidnapping).

Sultana continues her comments, so one day we attack them, the next day they attack us, how nice that you are fine, why wouldn’t you be? I am fine, Gonul is fine, Elif is fine, we are all fine until someone kidnaps us! It is never boring in this house, it is like we live in a Hollywood movie or TV series, always some kind of drama. Thank you for that Azize.

Miran gets annoyed and bangs his fist on the table, Reyyan tries to calm him down with a look. Gonul sees the interaction, gets disgusted and excuses herself from the table. Sultana, follows suit, saying to Reyyan, I am glad you are better, try not to get into any more trouble, Mrs. Aslanbey. The HAG has not said a word, but tells Esma to bring her coffee to her room, she leaves as well. Elif gets a call from Azat, that she temporarily ignores. She also excuses herself. Reyyan ask her to stay and have coffee with them, Elif says, now that you are with us, we have a lot of time to sit and talk. Right now, I think it is more important for you to be newlyweds and be alone. She excuses herself.

Left alone at the huge table, full of food, Miran asks Reyyan if she is okay. Reyyan says, yes and then comments on how nice Elif and Esma have been to her. Miran says that Elif is a good soul, who lost her parents very early in life. He has always felt like a brother to her. She has suffered much in the loss of her parents. (I wonder what happened to them?). Reyyan says, she clearly has learned to deal with all the pain and suffering and still be a good person. The meaning of her words are not lost on Miran.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #47
Part 3 of 4

Elif gets to her bedroom as Azat calls again. He says, I saw you called me last night, but my battery died. Is everything okay? Yes, says Elif, I just wanted to let you know that Reyyan has been found. What? he says, where is she? What hospital? No, no, says Elif, she is fine. She is home. Azat says, I am going over right now to see her! Elif tells him, no, you can’t do that! Don’t make me regret calling you with this information, you can’t come and make another scene (please don’t, we are enjoying a gun free episode so far). He demands to know what happened, who did it? Elif says, I don’t know, but she is okay. Azat calms down a bit and agrees not to storm the konak. He thanks Elif for calling him with the good news. She just seems happy to have a chance to talk to him. I love her beautiful, shiny hair.

At the Country House, Hanife is giving Melike grief in the kitchen. Gul comes in looking miserable. She is sad that Reyyan is gone and no one pays attention to her anymore. Melike tries to cheer her up by singing a song, but that gets ruined by the arrival of the Queen of Miserable, Handan. She tells Gul that once the new baby is born, GT will play with and buy the new baby things. He will forget about Gul. Gul runs outside to her parents and tells them what Handan said. Zehra sends Gul to get her toys ready and she plans to play with her the rest of the afternoon. Zehra tells Hazar, so now that Reyyan is gone, she is going to pick on Gul. I won’t tolerate it.

Back at the breakfast table, Miran tells Reyyan, we will be fine Reyyan as long as we believe. Elif has never given up and neither will we. Reyyan make an “I am not so convinced” face, Miran says, I know we can do this, I wouldn’t lie to you. When we think of what we went through yesterday, what we might still have to go through, there seems to be many dark clouds over us that will never pass, I am hoping for that happy ending. You are my hope for this Reyyan, you give me strength. I will do everything to make you happy, you are going to say, Miran always makes me happy.

Reyyan smiles and says, I don’t have such big dream, I just want small bits of happiness. Miran, cocky as always, says, I want great happiness that look small. I want to have breakfast and drink coffee together, I want us go out shopping and talk about where to have dinner together, go on vacation. I want us to have meaningful conversations about little things. What would we talk about, she asks? Well, I don’t even know your favorite color or what fruit you like, says Miran.

Kumquats, says Reyyan excitedly. (Ok team, I need help with the fruit translation, I am pretty sure it is not Kumquats, I could not understand what her favorite fruit was in Spanish or Turkish) They laugh as Sehriyar brings coffee. We haven’t even been able to enjoy being married, says Miran. I want an ordinary, normal life. We can do this he says, holding her hand. The right person, can change your whole life. We will change our past and out future.

With that great speech, he promptly tells Reyyan he has to leave for a bit to go to the office (what happened to the coffee and breakfast chat Miran?). She says, are you really going to the office or somewhere else and you don’t want me to worry. Nope, to the office. I will be back in a few hours. With that, he kisses her cheek and leaves.

At the Country House, Hazar is telling GT, Cihan and Handan that Reyyan is okay, a bit scared but not hurt. Yaren joins the group and hears the good news, she says to herself, they found her? How did they find her? Azat drives up and gives everyone the good news, then gets angry when he learns that they knew and no one bothered to tell him. He has a hissy fit about the lies and hiding things from him. Finally, Cihan yells at him to let Reyyan go. At bit calmer, Hazar does the same. He tells Azat that Reyyan is married and in love with Miran and now Azat needs to find his own life path. Azat once again leaves the farm angry.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza - Episode #47
Part 4 of 4

Miran did not go to the office as he told Reyyan, he instead goes to the village to find out more about the boy, there is no information because no one in the village actually knows that boy. He then drives to the warehouse where the car from the ambush was, it is now gone by orders of someone from the Aslanbey main office. As we see beautiful Turkish countryside, Miran remembers conversations with Hazar, Elif and even with HAG about having another enemy.

This scene is out of sequence but it doesn’t really matter too much:
Azat is talking to Yaner. He is convinced still that Reyyan is not a voluntary bride of Miran and she is there by force. Yaner tells him to stand down, but Azat will not listen. Azat calls Elif and tells her he must see Reyyan right now! Elif says that is not possible but she will meet with him to talk. Azat says, you will not change my mind, calmly, Elif says, I know, I won’t, that is not my intention. Reluctantly, Azat agrees to meet with her again.

Miran ends up back at the konak asking Firat about the disappearance of the car. Firat knows nothing and is concerned that there might be a spy. Miran says, well don’t we have spy (referring to Hanife) as Sehriyar looks on. Firat looks confused. Miran yells for HAG and heads upstairs. Reyyan hears him and comes out of the bedroom. What is wrong, she asks. I will take care of it, says Miran, go back into the bedroom.

He goes into the HAG’s room and leaves the door slightly open, so Reyyan does listen to the conversation. Miran says, are you sure we don’t have another enemy? The car is missing. Missing, says HAG, that is not possible. I told you they would mess with your mind Miran. Miran surprises her and Reyyan by saying, it was Hazar who took me to the warehouse and showed me the car. He showed me all the inconsistencies of the shooting, now it is missing! Who is the enemy?

Hazar is a sneaky bastard, say HAG, he is trying to make you doubt! You used to be smart and sharp Miran, love has weakened you. On one hand, they kidnap Reyyan and make you search, then they steal the car to make you doubt your family and confuse you. Miran says, the only thing that confuses me, is who is messing with us? The Sadoglu are sly, says HAG, you have to be ready for what is next. Pointing her finger in his face, she says, don’t ever come to me again with the words spoken by our enemy and doubt me. You will lose me! (We can’t wait for that day!).

HAG turns her back on Miran, he has an interesting look, but obediently says, okay grandmother, it will be as you say. HAG has a smirk on her face, she got him again. Miran leaves the room and closes the door.

A few seconds later, the door opens and in walks Reyyan. HAG is clearly annoyed and says, What is this? Why are you standing there looking at me like I have something to account for? Haven’t you done enough? Raising her hateful voice she says, ever since you arrived at this konak the Aslanbey have had nothing but trouble. You brought your bad luck here to Miran’s home.

Not so fast, says Reyyan. All of us in this home are paying for your venganza and revenge Azize. After a few second stare down, Reyyan pulls a fold note from her pocket and hands it to HAG. What is this? HAG snarls. It is proof that you are the one behind my kidnapping, says Reyyan. Reading the note, HAG’s evil, dark eyes get even bigger and darker. She and Reyyan stare at each other.

Outside the konak, Miran makes call. You were right Hazar Sadoglu, says Miran. The Aslambey’s definitely have another enemy. The episode ends.

First, a belated thank you to Juanita for the excellent Tuesday recap. Great comments, too. That “woo-woo” stuff sure can be confusing. VVS, I liked your explanation of the events and the “Tibetan tea”.

Thank you, VVS, for another beautifully written, detailed recap.

Boy, is Miran gonna feel stupid when he finds out Hazar is his father…

I notice that strange look, too, on Reyyan’s face and it had to do with that note she had for HAG.

How horrible is Handan to pick on little Gul.

I can’t solve the dress mystery, VVS, but I wonder how Elif’s clothes fit Reyyan. They don’t look the same size to me.

“…we are enjoying a gun free episode so far)” and less screaming, too.

Reyyan said her favorite fruit was “alıç”, which google translated to hawthorn. I had to look it up. Some sort of berry? It would make sense because she said she hung them around her neck and ate them on the way home from school. The English translation on my screen said “plums”. Whatever.

“You will lose me! (We can’t wait for that day!).” Yes, this!

Hope we get another big revelation soon.

dondi356

herc

Thank you for the clarification on the fruit dondi356! My translations were all over the place, I also got “plums” but knew it was wrong because of what Reyyan said about stringing them around her neck to eat.

This episode was strangely edited by Telemundo. I try to view all options when putting together the recaps, but this one was a struggle so some of the scenes are out of order. The kitchen scene with Gul wasn’t in the Turkish #16 episode at all, so not sure if I missed it in an earlier episode or it comes up in Turkish #17 episode. So much for trying to be prepared.

I agree that Miran is going to feel really, really stupid when he realizes Hazar, who really is acting like a father, really is his father.

The more I think about Zehra, the more annoyed I get with her. Reyyan is going to be devastated when she does find out she is not Hazar’s bio daughter. It is Zehra’s doing that Reyyan is still in the dark.

Seeing Azize worried was great! I do hope we have some reveals soon as well!

Thank you for the gracious comments dondi356. You and all the other folks who comment inspire me with confidence to continue recapping.

herc

Thanks VERY much, VVS, for this terrific recap. Even when it's not your scheduled day, you put forth great effort and produce a superlative account!

I'm racing to get ready for a meeting, so I just want to say that I loved the recap, and especially "You will lose me! (We can’t wait for that day!)." And yes, Handan sure is Queen of Miserable. I confess that I'm beginning to think Gul is at times too demanding for attention, but Handan's tormenting her is unforgiveable. Also, I see from your later comment that you're joining novelera and me in being annoyed with Zehra. I can't decide whether the character's role was written that way, or whether the person playing Zehra is making the character increasingly unpleasant.

Gotta run. Again, MANY thanks!!

Herc

VVS, I scan through the Turkish eps, too, especially when I think we are missing something. And I did not see that scene with Melike and Gul singing in the kitchen. No idea where that came from.

Juanita, Zehra has bothered me pretty much from the beginning, so you can add me to the list. There’s so much overacting in this dizi, I think the writers and the director share the blame. Makes me appreciate the more restrained performance of the actress who plays Azize. She’s one of the best villains I have seen in a long time.

dondi356

herc

Thanks a million for your fine recap, VVS. Your asides were pretty funny, as well. As did others, I liked (can't wait for that day}.

This whole kidnapping thing is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. In my mind Azize did not know that Reyyan was outside the konak for there even to be a kidnapping. She was in the car and we did not see any phone calls. She did ignore, IIRC, calls from Firat and Miran. Also, Reyyan told Miran she did not speak to those people that told Miran where she was being taken. There was the guy at the gas station who said he spoke to Reyyan and also mentioned the guys were going to some villa. And then Miran spoke to the child who said that Reyyan had spoken to him. Reyyan told Miran that she spoke to no one.

Yes, a gun free episode is fondly to be hoped for!

I also love (and envy) Elif's beautiful hair.

And...if that piece of paper is evidence that HAG planned the kidnapping, why in blue blazes is Reyyan stupid enough to hand it to her?

Yes, Handan probably pinched other children in day care. This could account for saying cruel things to Gul.

Juanita, I don't think Gul is so demanding. In my mind it's just that she's the only child in her extended-family home. The servants also obviously adore her. She's just used to getting a lot of attention. The small hissy fit was only because of Handan's remarks. She hasn't seemed like a spoiled brat to me.

herc

I will recap tonight, but it could be minimal. Tonight, for the first time in all these many months, my book group is meeting in person to discuss The Madonnas of Leningrad. We are all vaccinated but, considering the delta variant, we are still meeting outside in Julia's garden.

I usually watch the 6:00 East Coast broadcast on DirecTV and thus can get a head start on recapping. But I'll be at book club and will be behind schedule for at least 2 hours, maybe 3 since we have only seen each others' Zoom faces for all this time.

herc

Thanks novelera for the comments. I am excited for you to have book club in person, outside seems like a safe option. It is nice to be with people again, even at a safe distance.

I was also totally confused as to why Reyyan handed that note to HAG. Maybe the kidnapper said something to her about how to handle the situation.

Yes, Handan probably pinched other children in day care. Haha! Yes, she probably did!

I am interested to see the actual reaction from HAG when Reyyan leaves the room.

I look forward to your recap, whenever you have time to post it novelera, enjoy your evening!
