La Desalmada, Lunes 12/6/21 Capitulo 69: "Amenaza de aborto "

Fernanda told Lety and Octavio that Rafael will make it on his own “as you did, Don Octavio.” Who did not take this graciously, going on about this being fallout from his absence from their wedding. He went on about being a winner and wanted Rafael to also be one. Lety even said that all their friends would say that Octavio's only weaknesses are Rafael and herself. Fernanda speculated that this had something to do with the forthcoming grandchild.

Itsubaki woke up and tried to tell his daughter about the “accident” on the highway. The doctor sent her out of the room.

Just as Octavio and Lety were about to leave Sandra asked him about riding horses in the fair. They welcomed her and said to come over the next day. Fernanda was not in favor of this but did not make a major issue out of it. Rafael looked a little uncomfortable with the situation.

Miriam and Pachita were talking about herbs when Candela came in with a pair of rattles she purchased for Rosalina's baby. She definitely knew this ticked Pachita off. When Luis came in Pachita seized his ear and screeched at him like a fishwife while Miriam looked sadly the other way. Pachita left the restaurant and Miriam told Candela she hoped she would lose the other leg. [I truly fail to be amused by any of these people.]

Brenda called Rafael, who put her on speaker phone so that Octavio could hear the not good news that her father woke up. He had started to talk but the doctors sent her out of the room to do tests prior to surgery. Lety told her not to worry. Brenda said that the operation was complicated and could take five hours. Fernanda studied Octavio's face through all this. He and Leticia left.

Just as he started to chew out Carmelo for bungling the murder his phone rang and Edgar said it was “personal.” so he went over to see it.

Rafael had sensed the tension between Fernanda and his father and commented on it. She said she needed time. This seemed to be about Octavio's anticipation of a grandchild. She also said that Isabela was using this baby to get near Rafael. He asked what he had to say or do to convince her he didn't love Isabela. She said she knew he didn't but that Isabela was determined to have him. Rafael told her just to talk to him about it.

Of course, the graffito had already made its viral path on social media within an hour or so.

Angela, Piero, José, and David saw it and talked about it. David was still naïve enough to think Octavio an honorable man and didn't want to take advantage of this. José told him this was an opportunity, and Piero said that whoever wrote this must know something. Meanwhile, the news media smelled blood and wanted to talk to Octavio, which did not please him one bit.

Mari saw Piero taking photos of Angela and got jealous. She slinked out to the living room as Gabe came in. A few awkward words later he invited her to have dinner with him.

Octavio prepared himself to face the press as he voiced suspicion of David. Germán told him that David could not have done this. Octavio was determined to eliminate his competitor

and Germán warned him that this will affect his friendship with Antonio and Martina to which he replied that in business or politics there are no friends.

César told Fernanda for the nth time he didn't like her being at El Primor because she was in danger from Octavio. She told him the nth + 1 time that she will not leave there until she has hard evidence of Octavio's past crimes. He asked what she was going to do.

Leticia described how Fernanda rejected Octavio's proposed gift and Julia talked about how Isabela is on the edge over her pregnancy, etc. Lety told her that Rafael is going to provide and that under no circumstances should Isabela be under the same roof as Fernanda. [Of course, we know that will happen anyway.]

Octavio ended the press session looking satisfied just as Fernanda arrived with an apology. They would work together. Because the Toscanos keep their word. [We'll see about that.]

Brenda called Rafael to inform him of her father's death. She explained that her stepmother is planing the funeral. He said he would be there.

Octavio was surprised, as she had rejected his gift. She said that it was a completely different thing to accept something one had not worked for. She had two conditions, however. That she would have nothing to do with his political campaign. The second was no specific schedule because she had to work on her own property. He said he didn't care about hours, only results. He moved in to hug her but stopped when Rafael came in to announce that Brenda's father had just died. Octavio's expression of surprise was a bit over the top and he asked how it happened. Rafael said that he had died during the testing prior to the surgery. He didn't ask Brenda much because she was very emotional. Octavio gave the usual “He was such a good man” speech before saying that they would now need to negotiate with Brenda. Rafael said that would take time and Fernanda said they had to help her in the meantime.

She said she would go with him to David's campaign HQ first.

While Octavio contemplated his next dirty move Isabela and Rigoberto started their dirty dance in his quarters. He sat her down on the bed, telling her they should leave El Primor along with his father and go to his property. She reminded him about more money and he said he was going on his last job. He was doing this all for her.

Rafael expressed some concern about Fernanda working with his father, but Octavio said why it would work and told him “When I am alcalde, you will have to look after the business.”

Antonio was trying to get an invoice to account for some dirty money when Martina came in with a file folder. It contained a petition to get rid of Flor's brothel.

She wanted it shut down or he would have to take the consequences. She exited, saying she would see him at dinner. [Of course, it would never occur to her that women like herself are the reason that women like Flor are in business.]

Rafael, Octavio, and Edgar talked and disagreed about who was the prime suspect over the graffiti. César fell under suspicion.

Fernanda brought Piero, César, and Luis up to date and Luis said she was walking straight into the wolf's den. It was the only way to find what they needed. Rafael arrived in a rage and went after César, accusing him of the graffiti. Luis separated them. César finally shouted that Octavio killed his daughter. He told Rafael that if he provoked him again, he'll forget that he's Fernanda's husband. Both Fernanda and Pierto tried to stop this, but César provoked Rafael by accusing him of jealousy. Fernanda had enough and asked the others to leave her and Rafael alone to talk. When they left he asked whether she had been with him all last night, finally saying that nobody else in town hates his father more than César.

Octavio's workers painted over the graffito as he told Carmelo he was saved because Itsubaki died. Carmelo was surprised and asked how and Octavio was in a good mood and said it didn't matter. Things were going his way. All they had to do now was to get Brenda to El Primor to manipulate her into falling into his plans.

Fernanda got on Rafael's case about his unfounded jealousy, pointing out that César was honest and hard-working. She didn't love him any more than Rafael loves Isabela. Nothing was going on between herself and César, but Isabela and Rafael was another story. Rafael apologized, saying he was angry at the hatred for his father. Fernanada told him he had to learn to manage these situations or they could get separated.

Sandra went to El Primor to talk to Octavio about riding the horses. He closed the door and started talking about gaining Fernanda's confidence. She agreed to help him and he shook her hand.

César had a beer in Flor's bar with her. She advised him to be careful about his jealousy because of Fernanda's support. She then excused him because she saw Antonio coming in with the file. He sat down and told her the situation. César was eavesdropping from halfway across the room.

Rigoberto told Carmelo that soon the four of them would be at his place. He realized that he meant the other two would be Isabela and the baby. This made him a little nervous, but they managed to avoid being overheard when Octavio got into his camioneta.

César rejoined Flor and she told him what was happening. She was worried about the future of her business and her employees. He told her she could find a better way of life. She was afraid of what could also happen.

Leticia assured Isabela that Rafael would see she was cared for.

José, David, and Clara looked at the graffiti sign on the internet and there were lots of comments about it. José saw this as a positive.

Julia screamed and Lety, Pachita, and Mari ran into the living room to find blood on Isabela's skirt. As Pachita and Lety wrung their hands Julia made an emergency call on her cell,

then looked at this scene calmly as she ended the call.

Octavio, Rafael, and Fernanda attended Itsubaki's funeral. Fernanda empathized with Brenda because of having lost her own father, saying that “he will always be with you.” Rafael told Brenda she had them to be with her and Octavio blasphemed by crossing himself over the man whose death he caused. Fernanda had a flashback to her father's death.

Miriam confronted Luis about Candela and lost her temper. As she walked away Piero arrived to tell his father to leave his mother alone because of how painful this situation had been for her.

The doctor asked Julia and Lety to leave him alone with Isabela. Rigoberto ran into the house and Mari told him what happened.

David and Clara sat down in a restaurant and he was interrupted twice by campaign supporters before proposing to her.

The doctor told Lety that Isabela was at risk of miscarriage and that it was too risky to move her to a hospital. Isabela faked not wanting to be a bother but Lety would not hear of it. The life of her grandchild comes first.

Julia hugged Isabela gently. [Does anyone else think that the near-miscarriage was also faked?]

Comments:
UA: Thank you very much for your hardworking efforts to the detailed recap of last night's episode.

My personal thoughts:
1.) RIP Isubaki

2.) Carmelo dodged a bullet bigly because Isubaki died during the surgery.

3.) Creepy Octavio wants Brenda & Gullible Rafa together LOL.

4.) Isabela & Screechy Julia: Fast Forward!

5.) Just as I predicted from the get-go: Sandra is up to no good & last night confirmed my suspicions about that girl.

6.) Luis & Miriam nagging & arguing: What else is new ?

7.) Looking very possible Jose & Angela end up together when all is said & done.

8.) Tick-tock Clara: only a matter of time before your dirty little secret gets exposed.

9.) UA: The so-called miscarriage might've been faked because Isabela is so damn desperate into playing with Rigo & Gullible Rafa.

10.) Creepy Octavio showed up at Isubaki's funeral. Dude: try to be good at putting on a good acting face.

11.) Gullible Leticia is still gullible.

12.) Candela's dirty little secret will get exposed too. Somebody eventually will figure out she's faking that leg problem.

Isubaki died during the testing prior to surgery, but Carmelo is not off the hook. He may or may not develop enough of a conscience to make a drunken confession.

Jose and Angela would be a good match.

Octavio does want Rafael to get with Brenda. It would be advantageous financially, but his real motive is his obsession with Fernanda. However, he is completely delusional that she would ever want to be with him.

I should prepare the Karmageddon page.

Urban, another stellar recap with picture perfect screen shots.

“[Of course, it would never occur to her that women like herself are the reason that women like Flor are in business.]” and “nth + 1” were just a few favorites.

“[Does anyone else think that the near-miscarriage was also faked?]” Yes, without a doubt. I kept shuddering, wondering where the blood came from. This was a new low even for this calculating, lying and traitorous mother and daughter, just unconscionable.

I can only imagine the fun pajama parties Fernanda, Isa and Brenda will have once they are all ensconced in the house 😊

Watching pure evil can be wearing. At least the tension is alleviated a bit by Octavio’s constant, consistent mugging, feigning emotions at the drop of the hat.

Fernanda swallowed her pride and did try to comfort Brenda but I cringed when Brenda held onto Rafa’s hand for far too long (as shown in one of your shots).

The story sizzled momentarily when Cesar was on the screen but it was far too brief. And can’t the writers give Juana anything meaningful to do? What a waste on both fronts.

Urban, this was fantastic. Thank you.

Diana

Urban, the saga continues and you captured it perfectly! Thank you!

Did Isa and Julia fake a new miscarriage, yep I definitely think that. A whole new level of repulsive designed to get Isa living in El Primor. Smh

Diana, 'The story sizzled momentarily when Cesar was on the screen but it was far too brief. And can’t the writers give Juana anything meaningful to do? What a waste on both fronts.' 100% agree!! I am so mad that they ruined the potential of both of these characters with inane, uninteresting and/or non existent storylines!!

I also agree that Octavio is the only comic relief left in this show. Everything else died out as they regurgitated the same content over and over again instead of developing something new and giving the characters a place to go.

I do still like Lety though. I hope she is the last/only one standing at the end of this.

Thanks for the great recap! And in addition to the recappers I want to say I appreciate the comments too! Everyone on here makes it so much more interesting and fun. I haven’t watched this one yet(always a day behind)but I think this is the first time I don’t want the two stars to stay together, I think Fernanda belongs on her ranch with Juanna, she’d be happier there than in that house full of manipulators. I enjoyed the recaps and comments. Certainly wouldn’t know most of what was going on without the recaps. I can read Spanish(maybe elementary level)but I sure have trouble understanding it. And a Hispanic friend said it would be better to watch without the captions, guess working harder to understand should be helpful-don’t think it is!

Thanks, Liz.

I also agree that watching without subtitles is better. English subtitles would make viewers lazy. My last TV set didn't have the capability so I never got used to them.

My opinion has always been that Fernanda and Rafael can only be happy if Octavio dies. That was true of other past lovers, like Cristobal and Aldonza of La Sombra del Pasado.

Well I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here and argue for the use of captions--BUT IN SPANISH! I didn't know the language at all when I started, but I wanted to learn--and that was the only way I could do so. And since then, well, my hearing (and our old TV) both have deteriorated so badly that I used closed captions for everything, even shows in American English. But I'm all admiration for both URBAN and JARDINERA, who can still do it without closed caption help. Here's to you, smart ladies, whose brains and hearing are still hitting it out of the park.

Enjoyed the recap as always, URBAN, and you certainly gave the business to our resident sanctimonious ice queen Ms. Mayor. Great casting since the actress has played some über-sexy, smoky-voiced lust queens in the past. Bet she had a lot more fun with those roles.

Got very excited when I saw Ultimás Semanas flash on the screen today. Always a welcome message. Clearly we all agree that the Recappers and Patio are top notch, but the story itself is a hot mess. No matter. This is a great place to gather and no need for masks nor Covid test results.

UA: I doubt we'll see "La Desalmada" taking a page out of the Colombian original "La Sombra del Pasado" because I got a weird feeling Creepy Octavio won't die.

We're getting closer to the Gran Final, so the Karma anvils better be good!

Urban, thank you for another great recap along with the pictures. As we get closer to the end of this novela I have to keep wondering how they are going to wrap everything up to everyone's satisfaction. I look forward to your Karmageddon page.

Diana, you made me laugh with "I can only imagine the fun pajama parties Fernanda, Isa and Brenda will have once they are all ensconced in the house", and I have to agree that they are wasting some characters who should be more developed and used. I can't say I'm a fan of César though.

Did Tsubaki really not get a chance to spill the beans to Brenda? Carmelo and Octavio don't deserve such luck.

I am also intrigued by Martina's petition to close Flor's place. That could just be a very interesting political battle   :-)

Well, maybe, just maybe this novela is entering a more interesting phase.

Andy

Did anyone else think Brenda's dad looked old enough to be her grandfather?

Yeah, why? The actor is only 75, not 90.

Thanks, Urban.

Yep, the fakers are faking it. The doctor gave Julia a conspirational look. Julia must've promised him big bucks. But how? She's broke.

One thing I like about Fern is she won't let Julia and Isa see her hurting. She'll suck it up in front of them.

What the hell is wrong with Sandra? I wish she ride a horse right out of town.

Niecie: Sandra will get her Karma anvil sooner or later.

Steve Boudreaux

Thank you Urban for a super recap along with descriptive screen shots!
I also saw the doctor smirk after telling Leti that Isa needed to stay put and not be moved to the hospital. I’m sure he got paid off by Julia!
Sad that Sandra does not appreciate the home/ work Juana provided her!
