Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #88
Part 1 of 4
On the phone with the overly sharing doctor, Miran says, Why? What is going on? Reyyan is totally on edge, wanting to know that the doctor wants. He sighs heavily and says, yes, I understand, no there is not a need and ends the call. Apparently, the doctor is leaving Midyat and wanted to inform them. According to Miran, she offered to give them a referral to another doctor but Miran tells Reyyan that isn’t necessary, Azra can take over her care and help bring their son into the world!
Hazar is with Dilsah. She tells him that Reyyan and Miran are supporting Azize, the person who ruined her life and that was why she was so angry, saying things she shouldn’t. She grabs his hand and plays the old girlfriend sympathy card, you know I am no like this. Hazar extricates his hand and tells her he knows she is a good person.
Firat and Zeynep are walking in the olive grove. She is concerned that his accepting the presidency of the board will cause problems with Miran. He responds that is just business. Miran and he will be fine. He changes the subject to their engagement. He wants to tell Esma, she agrees and calls him mi amor, much to Firat’s delight.
At casa Esma, she and Azize are discussing the board of director president election. Azize thinks it is okay that Miran pulled his name out of the running so Firat could be president. Esma is not at all happy. She thinks that the power of the Aslanbey name is going to Firat’s head and she does not want him to be at odds with Miran. She also blames Fusun for getting between the two “brothers.”
Standing out in the alleyway between the Sad and Hopeless konaks, Zehra is pacing. Hazar finally emerges from the Hopeless side and immediately Zehra demands to know what he was doing talking to “that woman” for such an extended time? Did she tell you what she said to our daughter? No, says Hazar and I didn’t ask, but you can tell she feels bad about what she said. Hazar continues to defend Dilsah even after Zehra tells him that she wished Reyyan was dead. He blames all the Dilsah comments on the fact that Azize had her locked up for years away from her son, her mother and the one who loved her. Sadly, Zehra tells him, that is why you can’t forgive, because Azize kept you from the one your love. That is why you can’t accept her as your mother. She walks away, leaving Hazar sputtering.
Azra is on the phone with Fusun. A fully recuperated Dilsah overhears her talking as Azra heads to her room and closes the door. Of course, Dilsah immediately follows, pressing her ear to listen. Fusun is asking/demanding that Azra come to the konak and visit. She will send her driver to pick her up. Azra tells her she just got home from the hospital and she can get the konak on her own.
Fusun continues a full court press (for you March Madness fans) insisting that Gunes/Azra come and live with her mother. Azra rolls her eyes impatiently but continues the ruse (I think) saying this has all be a lot for her to digest. She is not used to her new name or the situation and asks for time. Then she says that she is interested in getting to know Fusun more (be careful what you ask for). Outside the room, Dilsah is not at all happy. She vows to make sure that Azra never wants to leave the Hopeless konak because she will be so much in love (with who, Miran? Lutfi?) that not even a gun to her head will make her cross the threshold. Azra will stay there with her.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #88
Part 2 of 4
Reyyan is not at all pleased with Miran for making this decision to have Azra be her new doctor on his own and for a change she stands up for herself against him and says, no. She wants to find another doctor. She demands that Miran call the doctor and ask for a referral to another colleague. He is just about to do so when Dilsah waltzes in with a fruit and cheese platter playing the “I am so sorry Reyyan card”
Miran tells her not to be so hard on Reyyan and promises that he is going to find her the best medical help possible, even if it is abroad. Dilsah does not like this idea at all. She says she needs to be there with her loved ones and ready to take care of her grandson when he is born. With a knowing, “I have you trapped look,” she sweetly says, isn’t that right Reyyan? Reyyan can barely say, yes, that is right.
Fusun is hosting Azra for dinner at the Aslanbey konak. Try as she might, Fusun is incapable of pretending to be nice to anyone especially the help. She tries to control freak how much food Yaren is eating and Azra has to intervene and say that in the first few months of the pregnancy, sometimes the woman doesn’t want to eat, plus it is best for Yaren not to again too much weight. Fusun says she will follow whatever her daughter the doctor says.
Yaren asks to be excused from the table so she can rest and tells Azra it was nice to meet her. Azra is kind and offers her assistance in anyway during Yaren’s pregnancy. (If she really is pregnant). On her way out, thinking to herself, Yaren says, I might need your help in the near future Azra.
Firat and Zeynep arrive at casa Esma. She looks nervous, but Firat smiles and kisses her hand. They walk into the living room and Esma greets her very kindly as does Azize. Zeynep is proper and kisses both their hands. Smiling, Firat says, mother I am here to give you news…He isn’t able to share the good news of their wedding engagement because Esma immediately jumps down his throat saying, I already know about the chairmanship of the board and I think it is not good that you and Miran are now rivals.
Firat is annoyed with her immediate assumption and tells her not to interfere with his work. Esma continues say, don’t let the Aslanbey name go to your head and interfere with your family and those people you love. I don’t want you to be unhappy. Both Azize and Zeynep are uncomfortable with the exchange.
Do you think I became a candidate simply because of my last name? I did it because it was necessary. We actually came here to tell you something else, but…he takes Zeynep by the hand and leaves.
In a scene taken from the movie Ghost, Reyyan is at a potter’s wheel molding clay. Miran walks by and sees her. He did not know she could make pottery. Apparently, at some point in her life she took a class and learned how. She wants to make something for Umut to remember her by and be proud of her. It is the same sappy stuff we have heard 100 times, so I will spare you and me the details. Of course, Miran can’t just let her enjoy the moment, he has to cozy up behind her and try to learn as well. (Patrick Swayze you are not, Miran).
Azize is concerned that Esma is upset for the wrong reasons. She says that Firat knows what he is doing and always has. Esma should trust her son. (Are Azize and Firat working together?). Plus, you scolded him in front of Zeynep and most likely hurt his pride. There is a knock on the door. Esma jumps up hoping it is Firat. It is Azra looking for Azize.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #88
Part 3 of 4
She tells Azize that Fusun is pressing her to move into the Aslanbey konak. Azize cautions that Fusun is very cunning and if Azra moves in with her, it will take Fusun ten minutes to figure out they are working together. Azra wants to know what to do. (So they are working together). Azize tells her to stall moving in and to continue to gain Fusun’s confidence and trust, then she can tell her the truth. (What truth??).
Azat and Gonul are meeting someplace outside leaning up against a bass boat. He thanks her for coming to talk to him even if she is still annoyed with him. He tells her he was afraid to tell her about Yaren because he didn’t want anything to come between them.
Gonul snipes back, I told you there was something suspicious about Yaren when we were at the hotel and you ignored me. Azat says, I didn’t know anything then. I swear, I didn’t know anything. He takes her hand and begs her to stay with him, he loves her. They have both fought through so much to get here, please don’t take your hand off mine now! As they hold hands, someone is snapping pictures with a cell phone camera.
They argue a bit, Azat is afraid to lose her, she is afraid he is going to get hurt of that “they” won’t let them be together. He holds her face in his hands and kisses her tenderly. What are we going to do? she asks. The cell phone camera keeps clicking.
Reyyan is in Umut’s room and looks at the pile of baby books she has yet to read. She is sad, but of course cannot be alone for two seconds because stalker Miran has already followed her into the baby room. He tells her she can read the books after Umut is born. She tries hard not to look sad. She encourages him to read the books as well, but he only has time for her. He reminds her that the doctor said she has a high-risk pregnancy and he is going to take care of her so that both of them have a safe, healthy birth.
They sit on pillows as Miran daydreams about how their life with be with Umut. Reyyan once again hopes that all his daydreams with come true. He chastises her saying it will be true for both of them. She wants him to take care of Umut like he takes care of her (minus the self-centeredness, yelling, pouting and Angry Bangs moments of course). She makes him promise (eye roll) to read all the books and care for their son using them as a guide. Playfully, Miran tells Umut that he promises.
The next morning, as Reyyan sleeps, Miran is running a humidifier and adds some essential oils that almost chokes Reyyan awake. He wanted to surprise her with a daily foot bath and the nice smelling essential oils to liven her day. Apparently, he has read that a room with humidity and the foot bath will help a woman who has a high-risk pregnancy. He has also decided to put her in a pregnancy bootcamp and has a “surprise.” He has hired a famous pregnancy Pilates instructor from Istanbul. “She” will help Reyyan throughout the rest of the pregnancy. A knock on the door from Ayise announces that the instructor has arrived.
Miran tells her to get dressed for her first session with Ms. Derya. The joke is on Miran as they come down the stairs to the courtyard, ReyMir encounter a VERY handsome man dressed in sweats and carrying Pilates equipment. He introduces himself as Derya. Reyyan is quick to shake his hand and smile appreciatively.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #88
Part 4 of 4
Mr. Celos Miran is not as thrilled and tells Derya he was expecting a “Ms.” Derya. Derya laughs and tells Reyyan that they should get started right away with the sun out to enjoy the weather. Miran gets very fidgety asking Reyyan if she is as surprised as he is? Oh yes, she says, I am very pleased with your surprise, keeping her eye on Derya.
As Firat gets ready for work, Esma again approaches him saying that he should give up the chairmanship/presidency of the board. He and Miran are brothers not rivals. Firat tells her that this is business. Esma continues to press him saying if he doesn’t give up the position, she will not give him her blessing. Azize walks into the room and with a pointed look toward her, he tells Esma that he always has and will always have Miran’s best interest at heart, but he is not going to step down as the chairman of the board.
He leaves the casa looking concerned but determined. Esma tells Azize that she will not let the Aslanbey name corrupt Firat and make him Miran’s rival.
Back at the Hopeless courtyard, Miran is making excuses that Reyyan has a doctor appointment and cannot take the Pilates class because her health is more important than exercise. The instructor agrees and says he will go back to the hotel and return tomorrow. Miran says, that they are busy tomorrow and he ensure Derya gets back to Istanbul quickly. It is a silly, but rather funny, Miran goof up.
Miran gets a call from Firat, there is a meeting that morning that he needs to attend. Miran asks Reyyan if she can go to the meet the new doctor by herself? She is all too happy to send him off to work so she can see the new doctor alone.
At the Sadoglu main offices, Firat is handing out a new business plan to Miran, Azat, Hazar and Cihan. He explains something about exporting their high-quality olives and earning 4 times what they are making now. Cihan loves that idea, but both Miran and Hazar are against it. (Sorry but all the business stuff went right over my head).
The meeting is interrupted with the arrival of Fusun and Gonul. Everyone wonders why Fusun is there as she reminds everyone that she now owns Harun’s shares of the company. This news goes over like a lead balloon.
Reyyan stands outside the new doctors’ office praying that she will understand her situation. Opening the door, she is surprised to see Dr. Azra sitting as the replacement to the former doctor. Azra? You are my new doctor? Reyyan? You are my new patient? The episode ends with this predictable situation.
Thanks very much, VVS, for another excellent recap. Once again, I found it much better than the episode.
I found the episode rather disappointing. Miran was his usual annoying self, 1) insisting that Reyyan follow new procedures that he has decided will aid her pregnancy, 2) interfering with the clay cup/bowl/whatever she is making for Umut, and 3) demanding that she push back her doctor's appointment so she can take Pilates instruction from an instructor Miran has brought in from Istanbul. And, of course, 4) when the Pilates instructor turns out to be a good-looking guy, Miran abruptly tells him his services are no longer needed. Arrgh. The Pilates bit was somewhat amusing, but basically I'm sick sick sick of Miran.
Dilsah is no prize, either. As you say, she vows that Azra will never want to leave the Hopeless konak. Just how she plans to do this wasn't at all clear, but it sounds rather ominous. And, of course, Dilsah has also got Reyyan over a barrel because she (Dilsah) has a photo of the medical diagnosis and agreement on her cellphone, so Reyyan finds she has to agree to what Dilsah says.
I'm not sure what to make of Esma's strong opposition to Firat being president. He's surely at least as capable as Miran--indeed, my guess is that he may be more capable (that's a pretty low bar). Or is it simply that Esma knows deep down that Miran is a self-centered brat who can't stand anyone opposing him?
I assume that when Yaren thinks to herself that she may need Azra's help sometime soon, she may be thinking of aborting the baby. If that's the case, it's not at all clear how she'll get Azra to assist her.
And as if Azat and Gonul didn't already have problems, someone is secretly taking photos of their being together. Probably one of Fusun's goons. IIRC, in an earlier episode Fusun had told one of them to keep watch over Gonul.
It will be interesting to see how Azra will respond to Reyyan's serious health problem AND to the fact that she hasn't told Miran. I would expect that her opinions will not be very different from Reyyan's first doctor.
VVS & Co.,: Did y'all watch the Lifetime Movie Network movie with Fatima Molina (from "La Dona") over the weekend ?
Noticed Colon from "ESDLC" was in this movie too.
Steve Boudreaux
Thank you VVS! Wonderful, well written, detailed recap! And like Juanita said, it was much better than the episode itself! I’m disappointed that I’m having a pretty hard time staying tuned in when it’s on TV. I’m just tired of the control freak that is Miran, whether it’s with Reyyan, the business, or anything or anyone that comes into his line of view, that he feels requires his personal attention. I don’t even know at this point, what they can do to change my opinion of him. He’s simply an arrogant ass of a man!
I’m glad Azra is her “own” woman so far, but I don’t know how long she can put up the front of a loving daughter. We all know how hard it is to interact with someone that you neither like or respect. Fusun is so unlikable too, and another ultra female control freak. She’s got her hand in EVERYTHING, and when she showed up at the company in her hard hat, I just rolled my eyes! She has no life, and no interests other than butting in other peoples lives. I certainly hope that Azat and Gonul stand firm in their resolve to be together. Both can be feisty, and I’m hoping that they just run off together while everyone’s sleeping. Surely though, one of Fusun’s goons will be on the case for fear that Fusun will take her cane to that azz…….
I think Firat is sincere in his quest as a competent president of the company. Azize has trusted him so much over the years with the Aslanbey wealth, that he can’t be regarded as a fool. He does need to be held accountable though, by his peers, but not treated like he’s an idiot, especially by idiot numero uno, Miran.
What is Yaren up to??? First time that wicked smile is back on her face, so we know the wheels are a spinning!
And yes, VVS, I caught the homage to the movie “Ghost,” lol. Somebody in the writing team is paying attention, lol.
Thanks again VVS! Great recap!
VVS, thank you for every detail as we tumble and fall to the ending .
Wow, not a very subtle shout out to "Ghost." Is this foreshadowing since Patrick Swayze died in that movie ? Mir is not Patrick. I cringed a little while i was watching him hover over Rey. Uff. Dont..just dont.
It was worth watching just to see hardhearted Fu in a hard hat. Protect your brain so that you can do some more terrorizing and threatening .
I enjoy reading your comments and questions Juanita, carmella and Susanlynn. Thank you for hanging in there with me!
Juanita, Miran was particularly annoying in this episode. I am sure he will get hysterically annoying once he figures out what is really going on with Reyyan. The only good I see in his attitude is he has to be right and in charge as a total know-it-all, but this might help him find a solution to Reyyan’s issue (that still isn’t very clear). I am also puzzled by Esma being so upset with Firat. Hasn’t he been in charge of all the Aslanbey assets all this time and running Azize’s businesses? I don’t get the problem other than Miran wanted the presidency.
Hey carmella! Thank you for taking time to provide your awesome comments. I know your job has you very busy! Miran is an arrogant ass control freak for sure! I have tried to support and understand him all through these many, many episodes, but I am tired. He is exhausting. I think Fusun has met her match in Azra. I just wish Azra was a better doctor. Azat and Gonul need to elope and move somewhere far, far away. I think she studied in London right? They should go there.
Susanlynn, “hardhearted Fu in a hard hat” Made me laugh! I like the name Fu…I think I will use it moving forward. Patrick Swayze does die in Ghost, hmmmm, I think I would be okay with Miran being that sacrificial main character. That way Reyyan can live happily with Umut and take Pilates with the handsome instructor!
Hey guys...I'm traveling this week and next with an unpredictable schedule. I hope someone can step in for me on Weds till I return. I won't be able to recap tomorrow or next week. Thx in advance.
BTW..do we know how many more epis we have?
Nett
This was a marvelous recap, VVS. Great detail and side comments. You make it easy to “hang in”.
This sounds so right: “… between the Sad and Hopeless konaks”. “a full court press (for you March Madness fans)” Thank you.
“She vows to make sure that Azra never wants to leave the Hopeless konak because she will be so much in love (with who, Miran? Lutfi?)” Oh no! Dilsah wants Reyyan to die so she can form AzMir?
I’m tired of waiting for the idiots, Hazar and Miran, to get help for Dilsah. They mention it but drag their feet, blaming Azize as if that makes it okay. It’s funny that Miran found a Pilates instructor faster than finding much needed help for his mother.
Disappointed in Esma. I get that she’s worried Firat might turn into another Aslanbey bastard, but it was the wrong time and place to nag. I was even more disappointed when she threatened Firat, “yoksa hakkımı sana helal etmem.” No blessing (helal) for him! I’m glad Azize is trying to set her straight and now I’m wondering, too, if this is a plan to get Fusun.
“(Patrick Swayze you are not, Miran)” LOL. IMHO, that scene could have been edited. Although Miran did take note of Rey’s wording—"to make something for Umut to remember her by…”
I’m still not sure what to think about the Azra/Azize plan for Fusun. Whatever it is, I’m thinking it will backfire.
The writers are making a mess of Azat and Gonul. I’m with you VVS, just have them elope before it gets worse.
Pregnancy boot camp… good grief. Derya is one of those unisex Turkish names, but it’s mostly used for girls.
“(Sorry but all the business stuff went right over my head)” Don’t be sorry, it’s the drama generated by the business stuff and not the business itself that’s important.
Juanita, maybe Yaren will use Azra to get her out of the konak.
Talk about a “Patio of Lowered Expectations”!
Hi Nett, I am also traveling for work the rest of the week and cannot cover tomorrows recap. I should be able to cover next Wednesday, April 6th. Safe travels!
Talk about a “Patio of Lowered Expectations”! Isn’t that the truth, dondi356. I am glad to know that I watched a less than stellar first dizi, so I can look forward to watching the ones you and others have commented on being great!
I think Dilsah does indeed want to have Reyyan die, keep Umut and start a happy family with AzMir (love it!). Miran and even Good Grannie should have insisted on getting Dilsah help immediately.
Anything Azize does now is focused on taking down Fusun. That backstory is keeping me on the hook.
Season 2 Episode 30 – Monday – Part 1 of 4
Back to the Fuentes’ Ranch and we learn JD and Muriel are only staying for the afternoon, just a little escape. They enjoy a swim in the lake and then go to explore the house, which is huge and a little mysterious according to JD.
Norma is asking Adan where JD is – he tells her he saw him waiting on the roadside for a woman. A very beautiful girl and they left together. Norma is relieved to hear it wasn’t Rosario and Adan goes a little too far in explaining how gorgeous Muriel (he didn’t name her though) is and she stops him, she got the idea. They have walked into the employees’ dining room and Quintina is trying to clean up the party before Norma notices, but the smell of alcohol is undeniable and Norma finds an abandoned bra so it’s pretty clear what happened. Norma lets Quintina know she doesn’t agree with her covering for the twins.
Speaking of the devil twins they are in the stables talking to Uncle Oscar, debating whether or not talking to the police would benefit them but they think if they tell what they know about Adela, the extortionist will find out immediately and will release the video which will make them look guilty. They talk about finding Adela themselves but Oscar thinks that would be a mistake. They can help Nino but they need to stay away from Adela. Norma interrupts, time to eat. She invites Oscar but he takes off. Norma lets the twins know right after lunch we are going to talk!
Happy reunion between Nino and his family. Everyone is so happy to have him home. He lets them know no one can know he’s there because he escaped the hospital to get home. He promises never to leave them again and happily snuggles up to that adorable little baby who he is told was asking for him the entire time.
Alone in the study, Norma confronts the twins about being men and not kids. She doesn’t want to argue, last night was enough. But she’s worried about them. They keep getting into troubles and making bad choices. They need to treat this situation more seriously. Eric apologizes and cries. He knows the situation is serious, he wants to do things right but he doesn’t know how. (This is the first time he’s really let any of his fear or insecurity show in front of a parent and I think it’s sincere this time and not just emotional manipulation) Leon is crying too and saying they never imagined the problem they had with the Prof would get to be this bad. They never wanted this. Norma tells her sons they have to be smart, control their impulses and use their intelligence to overcome their fears. She cries too and a group hug ensues.
Back at the Hacienda de Fuentes, Muriel is amazed by how big it is. But why do they live in such a huge house. JD says they only live in a small part of the house the rest is practically a museum. Muriel stops walking and says how much she likes it. Her face says even more – if there was ever a ‘just kiss me already’ look this girl is wearing it and JD doesn’t miss it but he gets nervous and backs off saying there’s a really nice place nearby he wants to show her. Muriel smiles and agrees. They look through this area that looks weirder than anything to me but Muriel says it’s interesting. She says it reminds her of this strange house her dad brought once that she didn’t like but he insisted on living in. JD asks what Muriel’s dad is like, is he like Juan? Definitely not. Muriel doesn’t know how to explain. Her dad is very difficult man, hard to read, and even harder to love. She says whoever doesn’t respect him becomes his enemy (and JD looks a little uneasy with that idea).
Jimena hears knocking and looks for Berta. It’s Duvan and she’s relieved and happy to see him. She lets him in. Duvan keeps looking at the keys, and he seems he’s there on a less poisonous mission today.
Season 2 Episode 30 – Monday – Part 2 of 4
JD and Muriel are back outside and walking side by side. The views are beautiful and JD is telling her this is where he comes to think, when he’s uneasy or has a lot on his mind. Muriel says she never wants to leave and he agrees. He reaches his hand toward her back and it looks like this boy might actually be ready to finally make his move – so his phone rings naturally. He has to take the call it’s about some Vet meds. Muriel notices an open door behind and goes to walk in while JD is on the phone.
Muriel finds herself in a darkened cave-like room. It looks like it might have been a chapel? The door closes on its own somehow and she frantically calls for Juan David who doesn’t seem to hear her. (This really wouldn’t be scary if you weren’t claustrophobic but since she is, this isn’t looking good) JD finally hears her and he hangs up the phone. She tells him she somehow got locked in and can’t get out. JD can’t get the door open either and he runs for help. Muriel is squinting into the little bit of sunlight and trying not to panic.
Duvan and Jimena are sitting and talking and he’s happy she is feeling better. Jimena asks about his mom and it’s clear she doesn’t have a job. Duvan says his dad provides the money and Jimena wants to know what his dad does but Duvan doesn’t know. All he knows his he leaves and they don’t see him for days at a time but he does give them money. The look on Jimena’s face says she thinks her husband is a dead-beat dad even if she doesn’t know it’s her husband who is doing the dead beating. They talk about his clothes and Jimena decides she is going to make him all new clothes. She goes to get a measuring tape to take his measurements. Duan is again looking at the house keys but Berta has them on her.
JD rushes around trying to get the keys to the room but he can’t find them or the man who has them. Muriel is losing her battle to stay calm and starts to panic. She gets a call from her mom but doesn’t take it. She tells herself not to stress out and to breathe but she needs out of there NOW and JD isn’t back.
Rosario is flipping out because Muriel isn’t answering her phone and Pancha warns her the controlling mother look doesn’t look good on her. Muriel is probably just shopping or something but Rosi isn’t pacified. There’s a psychopath out there, doesn’t she know? She asks Andres but he hasn’t seen or talked to her either. Andres says she only knows the people in his circle – his friends and family. His point seems to be that all the people she knows are good people and Rosario should relax but it’s lost on her. Andres goes back to practice and Rosario goes back to freaking out.
Speaking of freaking out, Muriel is at this point. JD isn’t back quickly enough and she is crying. She keeps looking around as if someone else is there… JD is headed back but hasn’t found the keys.
Season 2 Episode 30 – Monday – Part 3 of 4
Norma approaches Juan and asks if he’s feeling better. He claims he’s fine but he clearly isn’t. He tells her about his confrontation with Oscar and how he told him he isn’t a good dad. He comments on Norma’s secret meeting with the twins to deal with them her way, ie. keep him from disciplining them. He points out very astutely that he can’t be a good parent if he isn’t even allowed to discipline his own sons. Norma just doesn’t get it and thinks her way of shielding them is better. He points out she undermines him and questions him. He asks about Juan David and Norma says she thinks he’s out with a girl. Juan wants to know the details but Norma doesn’t know either; all she knows is it’s a young girl, not Rosario and she thinks Juan David is really interested in her. This would be good news on most days, but today it’s just one more thing to make Juan feel like he has no idea what is going on around his own house. He leaves to go take a ride and clear his head.
Jimena tells Duvan she doesn’t normally make kids clothes but she’s making an exception for him because he is her friend. He asks if she would always make his clothes if he was her son and Jimena says if he was her son, she would be the happiest woman alive. Duvan looks like he likes the idea. When Duvan is ready to leave Jimena suggests next time she come and meet his parents but he says it’s better if he comes here because his mom doesn’t like visitors, she agrees.
JD returns but it’s too late, Muriel is freaking out and can’t calm down. JD tries to reassure her but it isn’t registering. Muriel decides she has to find another exit and walks further into the building. The employee finally comes with the keys but it takes a minute to figure out which one. Muriel is walking and she starts to see the guy from her flashback the other day – the scary looking half naked one telling her not to try to escape. She falls and is unconscious. JD finally gets in but he finds an unconscious Muriel and they have to carry her into a guest room. JD puts her down on the bed but she doesn’t wake. He doesn’t know how such a nice afternoon turned into a nightmare. They run off to try and get some alcohol (so she can smell it and wake I assume) and the woman caregiver stays with Muriel.
Duvan comes home to Romina who is pissed because he couldn’t get the keys. She calls him a coward but he doesn’t want to get into trouble. Romina tries to tell him they are just getting access to what should already belong to them. The good news is he knows where the keys are so he can get them next time. It’s pretty clear he is afraid to make Jimena mad because he wants her to like him. He tells his mom about the clothes but she isn’t happy to hear it because she says she just wants to buy him.
Muriel wakes but only a little and takes a pill that is given to her – I guess to calm her nerves? But it puts her back to sleep and JD is nodding off too waiting for her to waken. Muriel dreams about her dad buying that big house she didn’t like. She was scared of it and there was a room she wasn’t allowed to open it was reserved for someone special and she wasn’t allowed to enter for any reason.
Muriel startles away saying ‘NO’ and JD is there to calm her. She’s embarrassed that her panic attack ruined their date but he says not to worry about it. She tells him about her fear of being locked up. JD encourages her to sleep, he’s there and he’ll take care of her. Or he can give her space, yes, that way she’ll be more comfortable. He will be right outside. Muriel calls him back. Stay, she says. He says okay and comes back. (He looks all nervous and scared of girls again! LOL) Muriel says she’s very happy with him and he says he’s happy with her too. Muriel says she’s so happy it scares her and JD wants to know why. Muriel says she’s scared he doesn’t feel the same and JD says: ‘what if I do feel the same? What if I feel more?’ And all of viewerville says ‘FINALLY’ as the boy at last kisses the girl!!!!
Season 2 Episode 30 – Monday – Part 4 of 4
The family is at dinner – still without JD, of course. They comment on not knowing where he is, but Norma thinks it’s fine. He’s well behaved and fulfills his obligations he should be able to enjoy himself every so often. Eric makes several comments about the perfect brother who can do whatever he wants, Juan points out you don’t have to leave the house to do bad things right, ‘senoritos’? (LOL) This starts to devolve as the twins get up to leave, but Juan orders them ‘sit down, demons!’ (Yes, he called them demons I’m not the only one). They are going to eat in peace and then everyone is meeting in the main pen. He is organizing a meeting to celebrate peace in the region. He's invited some land owners, Sarita and the kids, and even Gabriela! He says she’s been a bit distant lately and I had to wonder if he’s actually missed her! The twins roll their eyes but Norma looks pleased. Juan says he wants to feel like they are united and nothing can separate them. He looks intently at Norma.
The kiss between JD and Muriel gets heated quickly and JD offers to let her rest but Muriel isn’t interested in resting. She kisses him again and takes her dress off so he will know exactly what she thinks of that idea. He kisses her back and takes his shirt off as well. We now see scenes of Rosario intermixed with scenes of JD and Muriel in bed. Rosario can’t work because she’s too nervous about the situation. She wants to know exactly where Muriel is, who she’s with, and what she is doing. Rosario is pissed! We know where Muriel is and who Muriel is with and exactly what she is doing – with an enthusiastic JD who isn’t drunk or drugged and is most definitely going to remember this in the morning. The way Rosario is ranting and cursing her daughter for ruining her life you gotta wonder if she actually senses her daughter is at that very moment making love to the man, she, herself is obsessed with!
And there we end
VVS.THANK YOU FOR A GREAT RECAP...

It is hard to let the Azize sins just fall to the side for sure. I still wonder why no one has asked anything about Hanife?! They figured out that she was Azize's sister, you would think someone would ask how she is.
Esma has us all shaking our heads the last few episodes.
Sorry to be so late to the party. Terrific recap as always, VVS.
Regarding the "olive" conversation, I believe I remember what was going on. In the first place, I thought they just got into the olive business when Miran bought that grove for Reyyan and installed Zeynep as the agricultural expert. But, oh well; they made it sound like they'd been "in olives" forever. Firat called a meeting and was sort of crowing because he'd set up something to sell the olives at, I think, an inflated price that would certainly double or even quadruple the profits. Not sure who it was but I think it might have been Hazar saying that this would royally screw other olive suppliers in the region, friends of theirs. Cihan jumped in to say (big surprise) that he wanted the big profit.
Loved "old girlfriend sympathy card" and Sad and Hopeless konaks.
Dilsah is spoiling the whole dizi for me. Reyyan is terrified at the idea of this nutcase caring for her baby. Maybe this will be motivation for Reyyan to figure out a way to survive childbirth.
I agree that Yaren thinks she can get Azra (somehow?) to abort the fetus Yaren is carrying (or is she...) I'm leaning toward the midwife that Fusun hired to out Yaren for lying does know her business.
Firat has, of course, had a complete personality change. Unlike some of you I'm with Esma in fearing Firat becoming under Fusun's influence.
Had to laugh at the Ghost scene. Yep, Swayze was hot in that scene with Demi Moore. Miran just annoys with his every attention to her. And basta with the crazy jealousy of a pregnant woman.
I was gobsmacked at someone taking pictures of Gonat. I'm wanting a short thing for the two of them and came up with Gonat. Of course Fusun is the current villain, but I can't see what difference it makes to her if they are an item.
VVS, you nailed it on Miran the stalker. I was thinking the exact same thing. He barges into every moment she has to reflect and makes it all about him.
Thank you Darcy! Great recap! You captured the emotions of these folks, during this episode, so well too! An afternoon of fun and getting to know each other started out as a really good idea. What exactly drew Muriel into that cave like chapel is beyond me, but as soon as she walked in there, and it was so dark and spooky even with the Christian symbolism, I would’ve headed for the door ASAP! It’s apparent though, that she has trauma that she needs to deal with, and I’m hoping JD will be able to help her to the extent that he’s able. At least she shares her troubles with him and is very open and honest, but that very fact is probably going to be the cause of them separating. JD has to be honest with her about Rosario, but we know that’s not going to happen “willingly.”
I’m glad they finally spit out their feelings and kissed!
Juan Sr is really down! He’s angry, frustrated, scared and feeling a wee bit emasculated by Norma who takes care of things in her own way without consulting him. He’s the man of the house, but he’s not feeling like it because of her and especially after Oscar’s comments about those “demons!” Lol! Oscar still has a lot of nerve and I can’t wait until Jimena finds out about Duvan.
Whatever happens between Norma and Juan, and Oscar and Jimena, I’m sure their marriages will be stronger for it. Is JD and Muriel’s love story kinda a little bit like Juan’s and Norma’s was? Still waiting for Franco!
Thanks again Darcy! I’m looking forward to this story unfolding!
Looks like this is a difficult week for several of us. Nett, I could put up something for Wednesday night. I can't promise length because that's my Spanish class night.
And I can either do a VERY quick and dirty Thursday night or hope for a substitute. This Thursday is book club. We're finally all feeling safe enough to meet at Sally's house, indoors and unmasked. So I will be away from home most of Thursday night.
Thank you novelera for the olive business run down. I was too tired to really listen anymore then I had too by that point. Why would Fusun care if Azat is with Gonul? You would think she would want Gonul out of "her" konak.
Any recap or short points to get us started is appreciated. I am glad you can meet in person again for book club night!
Thank you Darcy for the excellent recap. You covered everything and more with your comments. When Juan call the twins, demons, I had to laugh, you nailed it! I feel for Juan but don't really understand the insecurity. Is this hold over insecurity from the first season?
I think that "chapel" is call a morada, it is an ancient, secret place of worship for a brotherhood of men called penitentes. The Catholic Church excommunicated the penitentes because of their barbaric rituals. These moradas are still used in Latin America and in rural areas of the US, especially during Holy Week.
I didn't like seeing more of poor Muriel's past play out in there. I hope she will be able to overcome her fears. She seemed pretty okay after kissing JD!
Thanks again Darcy.
Hercai2: #89 - p 1 of 3
The episode opens as Reyyan enters the doctor's office and finds that Azra is her new doctor. She's stunned, and then she tells Azra that she doesn't want her to be her doctor. It's not personal, she assures Azra, she just doesn't want anyone in the family to be her doctor. "As you wish," says Azra. "Let me just review your file so I can talk to your new doctor." We watch as Azra reads the file, her expression becoming suddenly very grave. "You have to abort the baby. Now!"
The scene shifts to a board meeting held outdoors. Fusun has just arrived and tells Firat that she's glad he took her advice. It makes sense that he should head the company. After all, the Aslanbey blood runs in his veins. She looks at the others present and tells them it's OK to be surprised, but now lets move on and get to work. An upset Hazar says, "She tried to kill my son. I'll never work with her." Miran announces, "We'll call a meeting soon to get back Harun's shares. He was not an Aslanbey or a Sadoglu." Fusun suggests they vote on Firat's proposal, which was distributed at the last meeting. Miran feels the proposal is a mistake, and that they'll make enemies. Firat disagrees. They vote: 5 to 2 in favor of Firat's proposal. Only Miran and Hazar vote no. Miran says, "I want the record to show that I won't be responsible for what happens."
Gonul and Azat talk. He thinks they should leave Midyat and go someplace where no one knows them and they can create a life for themselves and express their love. Gonul is fine with this idea, as long as they're together.
We finally get back to the scene in the doctor's office. Azra insists she has to tell Miran. Reyyan claims Azra doesn't understand, "I have to give Miran this baby." "No, you don't," replies Azra. Reyyan says, "If I have an abortion, I won't be able to have children." [I'm not sure whether there was a discussion in the Turkish version where Reyyan was told this. I don't recall anything in Telemundo's version that would lead Reyyan to think this.] Azra asks Reyyan, "Do you think Miran would want to live if you die?" Reyyan again insists that Azra not tell Miran. She again says, "I will tell him when the time is right." Azra replies, "There's no more time."
We next see Reyyan outside in the rain. She's holding an umbrella with one hand and her phone with the other. She's talking on the phone to Miran. "You wanted Azra to be my doctor. Well, she is, so you can talk to her." She ends the call and begins to talk to Umut. "If I could find the courage to talk to your father, I'll believe again in miracles. But I can't tell him. If I tell him, he won't be a father to you" [presumably because Miran would insist on Reyyan saving herself by aborting the baby]. "I can't do that to you," she tells Umut.
Reyyan then decides to make an album for Umut containing photos showing how much Miran and she love each other. She goes to Miran's office and persuades him to go with her as she makes this album. We see her take lots of photos, some are selfies, some taken by random people she and Miran encounter. [The camera apparently is the kind that develops the photos immediately, like the old Polaroids. I wasn't aware that such cameras were still in use.] At one point, Miran buys an assortment of helium-filled balloons and gives them to Reyyan. She gives one to a little boy she sees, and evenually lets the others fly away.
In typical control-freak fashion, Miran tells Reyyan "We're going somewhere but you can't ask where, and you have to close your eyes." He then keeps his hands over her eyes just to be sure.
Hercai2: #89 - p 2 of 3
Miran takes her to a room filled with white wedding gowns. He's concerned that they have only one photo of their wedding. He wants more. "I want to see you as my bride in a real wedding dress. Will you marry me again?" She agrees, and the 3 people in the bridal studio applaud. He tells her, "We'll rewrite all the bad memories. You'll wear white, as bright as our future. And after Umut is born, we'll have more romantic adventures." [The writers are piling it on thick.]
Back at the Hopeless konak, they take photos with Azra. Azra gives Reyyan a "you still didn't tell him, did you?" look. Dilsah looks on from the upper story balcony.
Cihan and Handan are seated in the courtyard of the Sadoglu konak when Fusun enters. With little preamble, Fusun tells them "You ruined Harun, and now you're trying to ruin Gonul." Having said that, she shows them one of the photos her goon had taken of Azat and Gonul together alone outside at night. Having accomplished her mission, Fusun leaves. Azat had seen the three of them together, and he comes downstairs. Immediately Cihan lights into him. "You couldn't find someone other than Gonul!?" Azat tells him, "We're adults, and we're in love." Cihan replies, "I'd rather tear your heart out than have you fall for an Aslanbey!"
Outside the Sadoglu konak, Fusun is pleased with herself for upsetting the family's peace. "I've removed the pin and set the ball in motion. The rest is up to you, Sadoglu family."
Meanwhile, Dilsah enters the room where all the gifts and purchases for Umut are stored. Dilsah thinks, "Reyyan, you brought into the house the woman who ruined my life. But now I'll ruin yours."
The scene shifts back to the Sadoglu konak, where Azat is trying to reason with his parents. "You were eager for me to marry and start a family," he reminds them. "Yes," says Cihan, "but with the right person. Not with an Aslanbey, Miran's ex-wife." Azat reminds them that they had said the arrangement with Miran was just a formality. "At any rate, we're getting married," Azat insists. Cihan declares that Gonul will never enter this house.
Reyyan suddenly has a pain. Azra asks her questions, and Reyyan insists she's feeling better. Azra tells Reyyan, "You can't continue with this. You may not even make it!" Zehra overhears "may not even make it" and asks what's going on? Azra and Reyyan exchange looks.
Hazar and Miran try to talk to Cihan and persuade him to accept the relationship between Azat and Gonul. Miran speaks up for Gonul. Cihan snidely alludes to her being Miran's ex-wife. Hazar gets upset with his brother. Cihan insists, "Gonul will never be my daughter-in-law."
Apparently (during the commercials?) Zehra has been filled in about Reyyan's situation. She declares, "You're going to have a abortion right away!" Reyyan tells her "It's my decision. You may be my mother, but you can't stop me." Zehra insists, "I won't give up on my daughter!" Reyyan replies, "I've bound my life to my son's. If he dies, I won't survive."
Back at the Aslanbey konak, Gonul is furious with Fusun. "How dare you order me around? You're not my parent. Azat and I love each other. I don't care what you think." Fusun tries to seem supportive. "OK, but do it properly. I told Cihan Sadoglu to ask formally for your hand in marriage." Gonul recognizes that Fusun is trying to cause trouble. "You did it on purpose to destroy their peace of mind." Fusun tells Gonul she has her interests at heart. "You have my blood. You're not a toy for the Sadoglu." And she adds, "Azat can't walk the city you're in unless I say so." [Huh?] Yaren has come out of her room and has heard the entire argument between Fusun and Gonul.
Hercai2: #89 - p 3 of 3
As Reyyan and her mother are arguing, Miran arrives and notices that everyone seems glum. Reyyan tells him that they've been walking around a lot and are tired. She and Azra go inside. Miran was about to follow, but Zehra calls to him. "Take care of Reyyan. Treat her well," implores Zehra. "What's wrong?" asks Miran. Zehra starts to reply, "She's..." Zehra is interrupted by several minutes of commercials, and when they're over, Zehra simply says, "She's very tired. She needs her rest." Miran goes into the konak. Once he's gone, Zehra cries.
Miran tells Reyyan about Azat and Gonul. He laughs. "They fell in love." Reyyan is happy for them. Miran says, "They both deserve love." Reyyan adds, "No one should die without knowing love."
Miran and Azat go off together in Azat's car.
Zehra is still crying when Hazar comes. She tells him she's crying over plans for the wedding and the wedding dress.
Azat tells Miran about his falling in love with Gonul. Miran replies, "I'm happy for you. Gonul deserves to be loved, and you do, too." Azat responds, "I need your help with this, cousin. Fusun will never leave us alone. We're going to get married." The suddenly sensible Miran asks Azat, "What will your life be like if you stay here?"
Reyyan is writing to Umut in the album. "I didn't die for you. I lived for you. Don't listen to others. Listen to your mother." Dilsah comes in and asks how the meeting with the doctor went. Reyyan tells Dilsah that Azra said nothing much was wrong, the other doctor was worried for no reason. Of course, Dilsah doesn't buy this. "You can fool my son with all your silly lies. And Azra is your confidante. Everyone is on your side. You must be happy, but you shouldn't be, because though they may not leave you, you will leave them. Miran, Azra, Umut, I, and the others will live happily in this house." A very sad and angry Reyyan tells Dilsah, "Stop right now! Leave me in peace!" Dilsah doesn't let up. "You won't be here to see the happy family. I'm so sorry. I pity you." Zehra comes by just as Dilsah says she pities Reyyan. Zehra immediately asks, "You pity her? Why should you pity her?" Dilsah says lamely, "She's pregnant and is pushing herself too hard." Zehra grabs Dilsah and warns her, "You'd do well to stay away from Reyyan from now on." Grabbing even more forcefully, she adds, "Have I made myself clear?" And with that, the episode ends.
Will anyone post a recap for Monday's and Tuesday's episodes? I found them full somewhere, but I haven't watched them yet. I don't know if I'll understand anything, but, if no one will post a recap, I can try to (no promises, though, my Spanish isn't very good, so I may not understand anything).
Please ignore my previous comment, I clicked the "refresh" button but it didn't get refreshed until AFTER I posted.

Comment #3 because my phone lost its mind...
Thank you Darcy! Amazing recap!
I loved it as well when Juan called the twins "demons"! Lol! Maybe he's been reading our posts ;)
Finally, we all waited a long time for the Muriel-JD kiss.
Rosario should calm down a bit. I understood her at first for wanting to know where her daughter is, because it is a town with high levels of criminal activity, but she has crossed the line. Muriel is an adult! It would be better if she openly told her worries to Muriel rather than demand to know where she is and with who every second of her life!
One thing is for sure: Romina definitely does NOT get the Mother of the Year Award. I hate the fact that she's using her child to hurt Jimena. First of all, what kind of a parent uses their child for heinous things like murder attempts?! If the poor kid had actually killed her, he would have been devastated when he found out. Also, her problem is Óscar, not Jimena. I know, she wants her gone to "take her place", but doesn't she see that Óscar isn't willing to do that? I hope her Madrina accidentally voodoo-es her and dies or something. Now, THAT would have been a creative death!
Thank you for the great recap Juanita. You brought up some questions that I have also be trying to figure out. I have not seen anything in the Turkish episodes I have watched to indicate what exactly is wrong with Reyyan.
It was news to me to hear Reyyan say if she aborted, she would never be able to have a child again. Is Umut toxic or have some strange blood type? I am not at all confident with Azra’s skill level. Plus, she is a gynecologist, not an obstetrician unless the translation from the Turkish to Telemundo version is off there.
When Miran was asking/demanding Reyyan to remarry him, I was yelling “don’t do it!” at my TV screen. Although the thought to remarry and have a loving beautiful ceremony is nice, nothing changes, it is still to self-centered Miran.
I really enjoyed the primos scenes with Azat and Miran getting along and drinking tea, not pulling guns. Glad that Azat and Gonul seem to want to get away from everyone.
Cihan is a ticking time bomb. Bugged eyed Zehra is back. She certainly does not have a poker face at all.
Dilsah gets more loca every episode. Intervention please!
Thanks all for your comments! I will try to get today's recap up a little earlier but it will still not being for another several hours. Usually I can't write until I get home from work the day after the airing but my schedule is flexible today.
Carmella - I am thinking if JD and Muriel are a little like Norma and Juan. I think in some ways yes, luckily Juan didn't have a thing with Gabriela! LOL But Norma was married (in a loveless marriage of convenience) at the time and she does have trauma in her background.
VVS - You asked: 'I feel for Juan but don't really understand the insecurity. Is this hold over insecurity from the first season?' I didn't really see Juan as insecure in the first season. He had some moments of not knowing if Norma would go back to her husband - but that was in the beginning and because he didn't really know the nature of their relationship. I don't really know that Juan is truly insecure now either. There's some insecurity there definitely but I don't know how authentic it is. I say that because I wonder if he would feel the same way with a few less problems. There's a lot going on in this family and I suspect there's a bit of 'and in top of everything else my wife suddenly seems interested in somebody else'. I don't think this is a problem he's ever had. Adan had said a while back Norma only had eyes for Juan and that would be in keeping with the character, so if after 20+ years of being looked at like you are the only man on earth there suddenly is another man, I can see that throwing you for a loop. In a way, it's a bigger deal than a wife you has always noticed when another man is attractive because the fact that she actually noticed HIM feels important! But it would probably feel less so if: his brother wasn't missing, his son's weren't murder suspects, and his other brother wasn't a jackass! He is handling this badly though!!! Very badly.
Weirdo - Romina is horrible. I can't stand her. I think her biggest problem with Oscar is that she's never been able to manipulate him the way she's tried to since day 1. She talks as if she should have what Jimena has but from what we've seen she has NEVER had Oscar. We've seen one night where he didn't look at all sober (may have been even drugged?) which resulted (or so we've been told) in Duvan - and even that night Oscar was shown to say he loved Jimena. They've said since then that they only had sex once, so really even though Romina acts like she's the other women and we've referred to her as such, she really isn't. She's a one night stand who took advantage of a drug married man and hasn't been able to get him to finish the betrayal in all the years since because he loves his wife! Not that I am defending Oscar, because he has been horrible and selfish in so many other ways but Romina is truly delusional to believe she has even claim on him just because of one drunken night. Madrina voo-dooing her sounds good to me!!
Mil gracias, Darcy and sorry I'm writing this so late, but I have a nasty week with barely any time to breathe. Pour vivid retelling of the episode was more fun than the actual show. Loved it!
Carmella,I think Juan and Norma will be fine on the long run, but I'm starting to worry for Oscar and Jimena. He's very unlikable and has very few redeeming qualities right now.The lie he's keeping will destroy Jimena, he has a lot of groveling to do to be forgiven.
VVS, Juan didn't used to be like this at all. He was always the head of thé family and could put his siblings in their place just by looking at them. Married life has made him mellow. He used to be a little rough around the edges, now he's more polished but he Lost some of his "don't give a damn" and take charge attitude.
Weirdo, if you want to try recapping, that's great. We can talk days with Darcy, she usually does Friday and we decide for rest of the week depending on how busy we are. What day would work for you?
Adriana Noel
Thank you Darcy and Adriana for giving me the scoop on Juan. Both he and Norma need to follow the abuelo's advice to talk things through.
Wierda, I liked the idea of the Madrina voo-dooing the heck out of Romina, she is a horrible person. I REALLY like the idea of you recapping! Do it! You will enjoy it and we will all be very, very appreciative of the efforts!
I like the fact that everybody likes the voodoo idea. Now we have TWO things we really want to happen ;)
Darcy, I agree, Romina is delusional. Óscar being drugged makes a lot of sense, since he is a part of the three original couples. The writers probably aren't going to be separating them (not at the end, at least), so they have to make the affair redeemable. I'm guessing Madrina had something to do with it. Hmm...
To everyone who supports the recapping idea, first of all, thank you. I will think about it. If I'm not mistaken, there are currently only 2 recappers for Pasión: Darcy and Adriana. (I think VVS is recapping Hercai, right? If not, then there are 3 recappers?) If the episodes I found had English subtitles, I would say yes immediately. I'm just not that confident in my Spanish to try to recap without subtitles. Although I think Telemundo puts up the first 12 minutes or so with subtitles, right? But what about the rest of the episode? (I'm overthinking this, aren't I?) Question: Does the accent of the actors sound Mexican or Columbian (I think this is a Columbian telenovela?) Lastly, the days. Adriana, you mentioned that Darcy does recapping on Fridays, correct? My days usually depend, but I can say that most of the time I'm very tired on Thursdays, so I don't think Thursdays will work for me. If I decide to do it, I will think this through.
Btw, VVS, my phone is behaving awkwardly today as well. ._.
UPDATE: I went to YouTube and found the episodes uploaded. It actually has auto-translation, so this could actually work, even though when Muriel said "Juan David" the subtitles said "with xavi", lol. I could even write some subtitle fails, as a comedic relief (I hope that's how it's called). This is going to be fun!
Wow, in my first post here, I said that I want to recap, but there's no Telemundo in my country (and, btw, the episodes aren't usually on YouTube or don't have the handy auto-translation button). Looks like I AM going to recap after all!
I thought about the days. Again, not Thursdays and probably not Wednesdays. Mondays and/or Tuesdays are the best for me. Darcy and Adriana, are you ok with that? If not, I'm sure we can think of a plan that satisfies everyone.
I'm very excited! I'm definitely looking forward to it! This is the first time I like the fact that my phone glitched and didn't refresh the page. If it had, I wouldn't have searched for the episode and the recapping idea would have never occurred! You guys suggested to recap some episodes even AFTER it refreshed, so, thank you! A part of this is your doing ;)
I can't be the only one that finds the way I decided to recap so weird? My username IS Weirdo, after all...
Thanks so much, Juanita. It's another case of the recap being better than the episode. Your descriptions were so good that I started to feel re-traumatized! This cast contains some of the most annoying people I've ever had to spend time with. In the regular, Spanish language TNs there's usually one mustache twirling male villain and another scheming, too-much-makeup female villain. There's been enough rotten people in Hercai that it's hard to count them all.
Dilsah is seeking out opportunities to torture Reyyan. I'm leaning toward her not surviving to the end of the show. I don't think a shrink can redeem her.
I was also surprised at the announcement that, if Reyyan aborts Umut, she will now become unable to have other babies.
Cihan is bi-polar. A week or so ago he was angry about Miran now being a Sadoglu and inheriting some house that he had his crony blow up. He decided to go all in with Fusun. And now the very thought of Azat marrying an Aslanbey has him beside himself. For once Handan was a bit of the voice of reason, trying to talk him off the ledge.
I've re-thought what I wrote about the olive business. I think what Firat suggested was lowering the price of their olives. The result of this would be their getting the lion's share of olive sales for their region. The number of sales being so much larger would have increased the profit, even though the unit price was less. Hazar and Miran immediately saw that they'd get lots of trouble from the olive producers, people they know well, when they'd cornered the market.
I want to again mention that I will put up something brief tonight in Nett's place. My Spanish class is on Zoom, but it's 8PM to 10PM. It's so late because the same teacher teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced. My class is advanced and got pushed to the latest time available for Zoom classes with the school.
I'd love a volunteer for a quicky on Thursday, but if there is none I could do the same tomorrow; i.e. a quick and dirty recap. Thursday night I'll be at in-person book club for most of the evening.
Weirdo - Mondays or Tuesdays would be great! I am already working on the recap for last night and have it almost done but we would be THRILLED to have you join us next week! :)
I don't know what country you are in or how/if apps vary from one country to the next but I watch the show on the Peacock app. It is a premium subscription (It costs $4.99 a month) but it has the English subtitles and reliable ones. You can use YouTube of course but I've seen some pretty special translations on YouTube so I don't trust it! LOL You also might surprise yourself by how much you do understand. When I first started recapping I was recapping a Univision show and Uni doesn't have English subtitles at all, I didn't think I could do it because I needed the subtitles but as I started writing I was shocked to realize that I understood a whole lot more than I gave myself credit for! :) If you find yourself recapping and you get to a point where you don't know what they are saying, just say 'I didn't get what they were saying here' or 'I couldn't understand this dialogue' etc etc etc. We've all been there believe me!
As an aside, I watched one novela several years ago with the same actress playing twin sisters. One was very refined and the other spoke in slang almost constantly. I understood the first character perfectly and never had any idea what her sister was saying!!! It was very interesting
Subtitle fails and comic relief are welcome as well! Some of these episodes could use a little comic relief!
Season 2 Episode 31 – Tuesday – Part 1 of 5
Back to the Hacienda de Juan Reyes and Don Martin is discussing the upcoming party with Quintina, he is thrilled of course that they will be having some fun. He thinks these family get-togethers are needed and is even glad his ‘Bruja’ (witch) daughter will be attending! He just hopes she doesn’t bring that Demetrio Jurado with her! She goes everywhere with him and Don Martin doesn’t like him at all.
Speaking of the devil, Gabriela is on the phone with him telling him all about the incident at the mayor’s party. Demetrio pretends to be shocked and offended by so much crime and thinks it might be best if he stays away from San Marcos for a while. He is going to miss Sarita though, he tells Gabriela if she sees her, please tell her not to forget me! (Dude, you gotta get her to remember you before she can forget you) Gabriela looks upset she is losing her buddy for a while but just says okay.
When Demetrio hangs up his little gangster buddy comments that he’s sure Demetrio’s absence will last until his scratches are healed. It seemed at first that Demetrio shares his serial killer tendencies with friends, but this guy is fishing, and Demetrio warns him to watch his tongue before he chops it up into pieces. Dude isn’t intimidated though; he is just offering to help. It’s in his own best interests if Demetrio heals quickly and they get back to business, he’s bored in the sticks. Demetrio comments how he should be in some grand sprawling ranch that suits a man like him, instead of wasting away in this current dump that feels like a jail cell (I think he’ll probably have the opportunity to get used to a jail cell eventually). Apparently, the hideout was located by Demetrio’s buddy and he admits he couldn’t have found a worst place if he’d tried, the neighborhood is the toilet of San Marcos! (I don’t like the sound of that – I’m guessing Demetrio is now close to Adela and Nino) He asks Demetrio how he runs the scams he does? How does he get people like Gabriela to believe him? Demetrio doesn’t answer he just warns him again to be careful what he says. Thug (I have to call him this cuz I don’t know his name) warns him again he’s his best ally. What if the police got you? Demetrio thinks that’s laughable the police aren’t after him, but this thug isn’t anyone’s idiot, and he points out that the police would probably be very interested in DNA results from whomever scratched Demetrio in the face.
Don Martin and Gabriela are already fighting but Martin says his daughter is welcome to come because she brings with her ‘this beautiful woman who I love so much!’ (Ie. Dominga). Dominga is happy to see him too and repeats the often-spoken phrase of wishing she could see him more but Gabriela needs her. Martin thinks this is nonsense, Gabriela can take care of herself she doesn’t need Dominga. Gabriela says Dominga is the only employee she has left that she can trust! (These people need better employees) Martin brings up that Gabriela has her conjoined twin – Demetrio! This of course leads to the ‘Demetrio is a prince of all things good and honorable and kind’ discussion, and Martin understandably rolls his eyes. He needs a beer for this and Gabriela says no.
Season 2 Episode 31 – Tuesday – Part 2 of 5
The devil twins are chatting with their uncle. The same subject as always, to trust the police or not to trust the police. They decide their best bet is to find the extortionist themselves, but they don’t know how. It could be anyone, he or she could be here tonight, watching and listening to them. Oscar tells them not to be paranoid and Gaby walks up at this inopportune moment (I don’t think she’s the extortionist of course, but that would be a funny twist. Actually, it would be hilarious if Oscar turned out to be the extortionist, but again I am sure that’s not where we are going) to discuss the only subject that interests her – Nino, and finding out where he lives. Gaby asks Uncle Oscar to intervene and get her cousins to tell her but apparently, he is only interested in meddling in the twin’s business and he begs off. Gaby thinks her family sees her as a helpless little girl who can’t be trusted with anything but they assure her they see her as a fully grown independent woman capable of getting herself into all types of trouble – which is worse.
Sara is telling Jimena that she is freaked out by the crime in town and still hasn’t overcome the attack on the ranch, she expects to be attacked again every time she hears a noise. Jimena thinks it’s normal that she’s traumatized. (I think FRANCO should come back and protect her!!!) Gabriela proves she’s scary too and scares both daughters by coming up behind them and saying ‘Jimena!’ She compliments Jimena on looking so beautiful, you would never know she was sick. They start small talk and Gabriela ruins it by bringing up her favorite subject: Demetrio! Sara politely asks how he is but when Gabriela goes on and on about how much he supposedly thinks of Sarita, she can’t hang. She doesn’t care, she’s not interested in Demetrio or any man. Gabriela thinks any woman in the world would be thrilled to catch the eye of a man like Demetrio Jurado (it didn’t work out so well for the last one actually, Gabriela) and Sara thinks her mom should leave her alone. This starts an argument with Gabriela telling Sara she needs a man to manager her kids who are very problematic! Gaby is full of herself (???? Really? If she is, she got it from her grandma) and Andres with his peculiar tastes (???? Again really? Is this 2022?) Sara defends both kids and is about to storm off when Gabriela relents and agrees to change the subject, but not before ordering Sarita to sit back down as if she was a little girl and not a grown woman! Sara inexplicably obeys the order. Gabriela glances up and look who just arrived! And with Norma!
Yep, it’s Albin and just when you’re wondering who exactly invited this clown to the party and hoping Norma wouldn’t be so bold as to have actually done it; we find out it was Juan!!! They greet each other nicely (There’s a slight edge on Juan’s part but he mostly pulls it off, Albin seems perfectly comfortable). Norma is surprised he is there but Juan expected him to come. Albin says that Juan’s ranch is becoming his favorite place to be and Juan is just like ‘I know, that’s why I invited you!’ (Again, this is a pointed comment that seems lost on Albin who just laughs) Norma is surprised and says ‘you invited him’ and Albin confirms not only that but in a very special way (he doesn’t elaborate on the way) and so he brought his best friends with him. Juan welcomes them all – make yourselves at home, have fun! They walk off.
Left alone Norma says she’s glad it was Juan who invited them. He is glad that she is happy. He says he did it to see how he would respond and he responded like a real man. He likes dealing with people who are up front and direct and respond when you call! Norma looks a little confused but says yes. Juan walks away and Norma is looking after Albin.
Season 2 Episode 31 – Tuesday – Part 3 of 5
Don Martin has his beer and his Dominga and no Gabriela in sight so he’s happy and ready to welcome the Mariachis who arrive! Norma starts dancing with Albin again and Oscar and Jimena are dancing, Dominga is dancing around the wheelchair. Gabriela points out to Juan that Norma looks very happy dancing with Albin. Juan asks what her point is and she says she admires his ability to be understanding and calm (he doesn’t look understanding or calm to me but we all know Gabriela has the ability to be clueless and blind)
It's the next morning and we get a beautiful shot of the lake at the Fuentes ranch with the sun rising. JD and Muriel are still in bed and kissing and saying good morning to each other. JD asks how she feels and she feels fantastic. She is so safe with him she forgets about everything else, not everything he hopes. She assures him the night was very special and will stay in her heart forever. JD says he feels energized like a new man. He wants to go jump in the lake; she agrees to go!
Norma wakes up alone in bed and is confused. She gets up and grabs her robe to go look for Juan. Quintina hasn’t seen him but she assures her the twins are asleep! (LOL Norma and I both laugh because it can’t be too bad if the demons are still sleeping)
JD and Muriel are now making out by the lake and getting ready to jump in. As they jump, we see Muriel is going swimming in just her underwear (no bra) which seems a little odd to me since she had her bikini yesterday but I am sure it’s sexy or something. (I also find it odd that the song in the background is ‘Rosario Montes’ but I like the song) they continue making out in the water.
Norma finds Juan asleep in grandpa’s room and says ‘Oh God, Juan!’ and Martin says: ‘It’s not God, it’s your husband!’ (LMAO) Norma wants to wake him but grandpa says let him sleep. Martin wants to know if they had an argument but Norma says no. She is confused and Martin advises her if they need to clear the air, do it! Now, don’t wait! Any doubts at all clear them up. Norma agrees and kisses grandpa before leaving her eyes lingering on her husband on the way out. Juan, it appears slept through the whole thing.
JD and Muriel are having breakfast and she’s worried about all the missed calls from mama. JD offers to go with her and face her mom together! (Which pretty much guarantees it won’t happen, unfortunately) Muriel asks if he would really do it and he agrees he would take full responsibility. Muriel predictably says it’s not necessary and she prefers to keep their little secret awhile longer. JD doesn’t understand why she doesn’t seem scared (I don’t understand why he would think she needs to be scared) and Muriel says it’s because she feels secure at his side. They both say they’ve never felt this way before and I have a hard time feeling the romance at this point because JD should have told Muriel about Rosario – she is going to feel so betrayed when she finds out he slept with her mom.
Rosario is still ragging and literally locking doors so Muriel can’t come and go without letting mom know. She didn’t sleep all night and she IS going to find out where her daughter goes and with who! (Can we all agree at this point that Rosario is freaking out because she thinks Muriel is with JD? And not because she ‘doesn’t know’ who she’s with! I mean this is an astute woman who knows men, she’s flipping out because she thinks her daughter is with her crush and not knowing for sure is driving her crazy) long suffering Gunter just listens to her rant.
Norma is in the stables looking for JD and Adan is in the stables checking Norma out. (He seems a little more forward today and I think whoever guessed that Norma giving attention to Albin would provide false hope to this employee was right! YUCK!) Norma is uncomfortable too. She asks if he’s seen JD and he says no. He offers to do whatever she needs him to do and she tells him to just focus on his job. She walks away and he doesn’t even try to hide his desire as he watches her leave.
Season 2 Episode 31 – Tuesday – Part 4 of 5
Juan is awake and showering (in a glass shower of course) he remembers Norma dancing with Albin. He gets out and Norma is there to ask how he slept. She asks why he slept with grandpa and he claims he was just very drunk. He probably just went in to say goodnight and fell asleep. He asks if it’s a problem and she says no, she was just worried when she woke up and he wasn’t in bed. She says she worries about him and he says he worries about her. Both spouses are uneasy, neither spouse says what truly needs to be said.
JD is returning home at last and remembering Muriel’s words about keeping their secret. He is smiling and turns when he hears a horse. It’s Juan, who greets his son with a cheerful ‘Buenos Dias, Mijo’ and a smile. JD asks how his dad is and he says better now that you’re home. Juan suggests he go get some breakfast and some rest and then they will talk later. JD says he’s well rested and doesn’t need anything they can talk now. Juan agrees that he looks well-rested! (LOL) and he says okay, follow me. He takes off and JD mimics ‘you look well-rested’ (Tell me how the man on foot is supposed to keep up with the man on the horse? Why didn’t they just talk then and there in privacy?)
Muriel’s return home is 1,000 times less pleasant and Rosario is sarcastic and hostile from word one. She insists Muriel join her for breakfast.
JD is standing waiting by the time Juan jumps down from his horse – and again I want someone to explain to me how this is possible, does JD have some kind of super human speed special power??? Juan is telling JD about the party the night before and how he threw it as a distraction from everything that’s going on with everyone, JD picks up on his dad mentioning his mom and asks what’s up with Mom. Juan says she overprotects all her sons (yup) and she allows Oscar to meddle! JD is sorry he wasn’t there and he hopes it’s not a problem. Juan says he feels like he can talk to JD, he trusts his judgment and he’s nearly sure his son wouldn’t get involved with a woman who would be bad for him and cause him problems. JD says like who? And Juan says Rosario Montes. Juan asks if JD was at Rosario’s bar last night, and he says no. He wants to know why dad brings up all the stuff about trusting him and not having a problem with him just to ask a question like that? JD says Rosario is very pretty but he isn’t interested in her. If Juan wants to know who he was with, he'll tell him. Juan says no, I was just curious, you don’t have to. I trust you. (Since when is whether or not you know your son’s girlfriend’s name an indication of trust)
Rosario tries to lay down the law with Muriel and she insists she tell her immediately who she is seeing but Muriel says no. It’s her life and she’s an adult, she can keep her private life private if she wants to. It devolves into a full-on shooting match and Rosario tells her if she doesn’t tell her now, she can get the hell out! She even grabs and shakes her daughter and when Gunter intervenes Rosario really loses it, Muriel puts it plainly, ‘You’re crazy, mom!’ she walks out.
Gaby finally gets a call from Nino. He’s safe and with his family. Gaby of course wants to come and help but Nino again refuses to tell her where he lives and she has to be content with him saying he will come find her as soon as things calm down a little. She says she is dying to see him and ‘Te Quiero’. Sara comes up, she wants Gaby to go to the Bar Alcala after school and check on Andres. He hasn’t been home in days and Sara is worried. She doesn’t want to meddle but she wants to know he’s okay. Gaby agrees.
Demetrio is sending the neighborhood thug after Gaby because he thinks she’s the only one who knows where Nino is. He wants his guy to find her immediately.
Season 2 Episode 31 – Tuesday – Part 5 of 5
Gunter is still trying to calm Rosario down and he advises her kicking Muriel out of the house is the last thing she should do. Gunter doesn’t come right out and say it but he implies that Rosario’s suspicions are correct. Rosario doesn’t look surprised which seems to confirm my suspicions that she knew or at least suspected all along. Rosario decides to keep her enemy close and goes and plays nice with Muriel. Muriel warns her mom she is an independent woman and she won’t let her control her life. They make a shaky peace but Muriel says if it happens again, she will leave.
Madrina arrives home and finds Duvan pretending to drive. Romina isn’t there and Duvan has no idea where she is. He hasn’t seen her since getting home from school. Madrina thinks he must be hungry and goes to make him something to eat. Romina is walking the fields looking for some fun, which she finds with Adan. Madrina feeds Duvan and tries again to get info from him and tells him stealing is wrong and killing is worse. She clearly knows her goddaughter and is worried about this little boy.
Andres is practicing at the bar and he gets a call. It’s not Sara or Gaby; it’s Muriel, and he gives her a hard time about disappearing. She says she’s fine and she’ll tell him about it later. For now, she just needs to know, if something happened with her mom and she needed a place to stay would Sara let her stay at the ranch? Andres says she is his friend and his mom adores her, of course she could stay! They would be happy to have her. She has nothing to worry about she can count on him for anything.
Romina is done having fun and doesn’t like Adan giving her the 3rd degree. He doesn’t even know her name, we learn. He wants to know about her relationship to Oscar and Jimena but she tells him nothing and even pulls a knife on him and tells him to leave her alone.
Gabby is driving to the bar and is being followed by the no-good thug, I thought he’d grab her before she could enter but no, he lets her go in. She finds her brother who is happy to see her but upset that she’s out after dark by herself. He wants her to promise to go home before sundown (and it’s odd that the same guy who thought Rosario shouldn’t worry about Muriel is so worried about his sister) he insists she leave and he’s going with her and I was hoping he was taking her home and not just walking her to the car but we later see her leave the bar alone, followed by the thug on the bike. Gaby notices him following her…
There you have it. I have a hard time with this whole 'I'm adult I run my own life' storyline as if it was unreasonable or evasive for a parent to ask their child who they are dating. Granted Rosario has ulterior motives but Muriel doesn't know that at this point. I am a very independent person, and if my mom or dad wanted to know who I was dating I would just like tell them his name, and I would have at Muriel's age too. I mean is that weird? Especially from JD's perspective, he has a completely healthy relationship with his parents why is it weird that his dad would want to know who he was dating? That said, the things Rosario said about her daughter and the way she talks to her is unforgivable! How a mother can say things like that to or about her child is beyond me.
The way Gabriela treats Sara and Sara's children by proxy is horrible! The types of things she says to and about them are truly awful. She seems harsher to Sara than Norma and Jimena and I wonder if it's just because she is annoyed with Sara for not falling at Demetrio's feet or it she's always like that. In season 1, she mostly favored Sara at least until she rebelled and chose to be with Franco. Gaby and Andres definitely don't deserve their grandma's distain and Sara doesn't either. Gabriela doesn't deserve Dominga's loyalty or respect.
Worried about Gaby, like for real! That motor bike gangster doesn't seem like the hapless type who wouldn't succeed.
Weirdo - I was thinking about what you said about Oscar's affair being redeemable because (if) he was drugged and I don't think so. Not at this point, if he had admitted the truth in the beginning than sure, but Duvan is what, 8? 10? That means he's been lying to Jimena for that long, and making one bad decision after another to cover it up. I agree with Adriana, I think it's pretty unredeemable at this point and if they ended with Oscar and Jimena divorced I wouldn't be surprised or mad. But the one thing I could see saving Oscar is just how much Jimena loves him. She is just madly in love with him and has been since day 1, in the end that might be enough to get her to forgive him even though he doesn't deserve it. I have certainly known more than one woman who loved her man blindly and forgave all his faults no matter what.
Thanks very much, Halimacandy, VVS, and novelera, for your superb comments.
Halimacandy, I thought of you last night as I watched Zehra tear into Dilsah. I haven't been much of a Zehra fan, but I sure was in that scene. I also loved your description of our being "steeped in the 3rd Covid..stained messed up..season!!" Yes, this absurd dizi seems to drag on and on, just like Covid! I keep waiting impatiently for both to end.
VVS thanks for reporting that the Turkish version hasn't been any more informative about Reyyan's illness, nor about her supposedly being unable to have more children if she aborts Umut. I'm beginning to wonder whether Reyyan is simply the recipient of inaccurate information floating around. And I bet there were lots of us joining you in yelling "Don't do it!" to Reyyan when Miran proposed. Alas, we all knew she wouldn't listen, but at least we tried!
Novelera, I hope you're right about Dilsah not surviving to the end. Several of us have been annoyed that no one seems to have gotten her to see a doctor, but with each episode, it seems less and less likely that she could be successfully treated. And as she is now, she's a serious danger to Reyyan, as well as to the remarkably redeemable Azize. As for Cihan, I think bi-polar nails it. Thanks also for your updated explanation of the olives. I confess that the original discussion on Hercai left me in the dark, and I was still somewhat mystified by what you said earlier. But what you've said now makes everything much clearer.
Lots of recap pages and comments since I posted. But here it is again. I will put up something in Nett's place tonight, but it won't be lengthy because I have Spanish Zoom class tonight.
One more thing about Albin. I am not convinced he is interested in Norma. I think Albin is interested in the party.... He's a fun-loving and fun-seeking guy who always seems thrilled to see Norma - but he's thrilled to see Andres too. And Rosario and whomever else happens to be there to have fun. He doesn't seem to have any kind of vibe or awkwardness when seeing Juan and although he clearly loves to dance with Norma we haven't seen him try to cross the line. He even left her with the family the other night at the mayor's thing before they even found Juan so he could join the party at the bar. I actually wouldn't be surprised to find out that our first impression was correct and he ends up being a potential love interest for Andres rather than Norma in the long run. Although I am not sure he would be good for Andres either, he seems like a rather frivolous person who only cares about partying.
Hercai - #90
As I mentioned, this will be brief. We return to Zehra with a tight grip on Dilsah. Said Dilsah denies to Zehra what she just said to Reyyan. Zehra: “Do you think because you’re nuts no one will blame you for your actions.” Zehra proceeds to threaten her if she even approaches Reyyan. Sukran comes in astonished and Dilsah plays innocent.
Azat and Miran do some more bonding. Like most of you I’m really enjoying these two together. Miran makes a joke about their both having those Sadoglu genes.
Zehra comes to beg Reyyan to abort the baby to save her life. This was a very good scene and well acted by Zehra, but I’m pressed for time. Reyyan insists that she cannot do it and once again says that if she aborts Umut she won’t be able to have another. [As a mother I really felt for Zehra. Who could bear knowing your child had decided to die?] Reyyan tells her mother that, if forced to abort, she’d commit suicide after.
Miran opens up one of Azra’s files, but it’s not what Viewerville thinks. It’s something about the wedding. Miran is in fine humor this episode and jokes that Azra is his sister and it’s her bound duty to complain about the food, make fun of the wife’s family, etc. We see Dilsah peeking through a window and smiling at the two she plans to marry after Reyyan dies in childbirth.
ReyMir come to see Gonat. Everyone embraces and seems happy. ReyMir are to be the witnesses for the Gonat wedding. We see one of those civil weddings, while good Turkish music plays. Everyone is full of joy. The book is signed and pictures are taken.
Cihan overhears Miran say something to Azat and then fronts Miran, saying he’ll never accept “this”.
Gonul and Azat talk fondly over the phone at their respective konaks. The plan is to flee after the ReyMir wedding. Fusun shows up in Gonul’s room and gets in her face. [Fusun’s day isn’t complete until she ruins someone else’s.] Gonul drops one of the wedding pictures.
ReyMir make a grand entrance in their wedding clothes while the families applaud. [I guess Miran only loses the bangs when he gets married because they’re gone tonight.] Zehra has a hard time controlling her fears and her tears.
Miran gives Reyyan a big diamond and they do the dance we’ve seen before. Maybe dondi knows what this dance is called.
Dilsah’s dyed her hair, has lost the hijab, and has on makeup. Lutfi takes lots of pictures. Mahfuz gives Reyyan a gold bracelet. She embraces him, and a photo is taken with BOTH fathers. Nearly everyone dances.
Zeynep notices that Firat is not being that warm to Miran.
Hazar asks why Nasuh isn’t there. And then we see him getting out of the back of a car. He’s really trying to convince Azize to come in. Hazar has come into the street and does his same old, same old about Azize. Nasuh isn’t having it. Nasuh and Azize come into the party arm and arm. Rey flashes back to when Azize threw her in the street in her FIRST wedding dress.
Everyone looks very nervous at the sight of Azize. Reyyan approaches. Azize tells her that it is Ayse who has come to her wedding and apologizes again. Rey embraces her and calls her Abuela Ayse.
Fusun calls Cihan to her place. She makes some veiled comment about a bride. Cihan puts some metal things I couldn’t make out into a brass bowl and stares at her.
Thanks very much, novelera, for filling in for Nett and writing this concise, helpful recap.
I'm really glad you mentioned how sympathetic you were to Zehra in this episode. I too felt that way. I tried to imagine how I would feel if the daughter that I loved insisted on going through with a pregnancy that would likely mean her death. The thought was almost unbearable. Reyyan says that her mother can help Miran raise Umut. I don't know about Zehra, but I think that I'd feel a good deal of resentment toward the baby.
I'm really bothered by Reyyan's continually claiming that if she aborts the baby, she won't be able to have more children. Huh??? We don't see any medical person tell her this. All Reyyan (and Telemundo!) are doing is spreading false information. In the past, Telemundo has occasionally used telenovelas to help educate its audience about social issues. Here, they're doing just the opposite.
I found Miran better looking in this episode, and I suddenly realized that it was because he'd abandoned the silly bangs. I hope they're gone for good.
It was a pleasure to see Azat so happy. I think he smiled more in this episode than in all the episodes that preceded it combined.
When Fusun comes to see Gonul just as Gonul drops a photo onto the floor, I was fearing that Fusun would notice it and realize that Gonul and Azat had gotten married. But she didn't seem to take much note of it. BTW, I loved your comment that "Fusun’s day isn’t complete until she ruins someone else’s." It's so true!
I wasn't sure what to make of Cihan's coming to see Fusun. I hadn't realized that she had called him to come. She says something about flowers and chocolate. He drops what sounded like pieces of metal into a bowl, referring to them as the "flowers," and then, as "the chocolate," he gives her a bullet (the one that killed Harun??).
Thank you, Darcy, for the excellent recap!
Before I forget, I want to explain my thought process when it come to Óscar and the affair plot. I know, I said that the writers could make it redeemable if he was drugged. What I didn't specify was that it would have been redeemable for telenovela standards. I agree, Óscar has been lying to Jimena for so long. Honestly, I would have divorced him if I were her. It's just, in most telenovelas the make (one of) the main male protagonist(s) do something that's not redeemable in real life, but they find a way to "redeem" it and the end. I should have put redeemable in double quotation marks.
In short: I lowered my standards because of telenovela logic. If this happend irl I wouldn't have forgiven him. If we let the illogical logic of telenovelas aside, I agree with Darcy and (was it Adriana? I think so.).
Don Martín's "It's not God, it's your husband" was hilarious. Wish we had more lines like this in this telenovela.
Loved your comments, Darcy! My favourites have to be: I think he'll get used to a jail cell quickly + Gaby/Óscar being the extortionist would be a funny twist. Lol! Also, thanks for the information about Peacock and the recapping tips!
Gaby ends up at Oscar’s boutique. She tells him she thinks she’s being followed, Oscar wonders if she’s not paranoid. He eventually goes to check the street, sees the guy on the moto, draws his gun (seriously?) and makes the guy leave. Gaby is now sure the guy has been following her, so Oscar decides to drive her home. They get back in the boutique, and Oscar asks why they would follow her. Gaby says the guy is someone Nino knows, she spoke to him today, he’s with his family, and he wants to run from the police. He thinks he can find a job in his barrio. Oscar is afraid the guy might be dangerous, wants to speak to him. Gaby doesn’t think this is possible, she doesn’t even know where he lives.
Romina and Madrina talk about Romina’s pass times, she’s not scared of the men in the area, and she can defend herself. Madrina is afraid Oscar might get upset, but Romina says he has no right, not as long as he’s married to someone else. Madrina thinks her day will never come if she plans to destroy Jimena instead of seducing Oscar. She also warns Romina to take care with that woman, she might look fragile, but wait till she finds out she exists. Romina is counting on this, the day Jimena figures out the truth she will leave Oscar.
Oscar comes by Juan’s ranch after dropping Gaby off and tells the twins what Nino said – he’s back in his barrio with his family; he knows a lot of people there, he might know Adela or the blackmailer. They all think Nino could help them and Oscar asks for Nino’s address. But the twins say no, even when Oscar insists that as opposed to Gaby, he can defend himself. Oscar is upset because he still wants to help, even if Juan asked him to stay away. Speak of the Devil… here is Juan, asking his brother to stay for dinner, but Oscar says Jimena is waiting.
Juan takes Oscar aside to remind him he needs to mind his own business and stop interfering in his sons’ life.
Help me instead, Juan asks, what’s the deal with them, what are they hiding?
Ask them! Oscar answers.
You think you can help them more as an uncle than I as a father? I would do anything for them, get myself killed if necessary.
Oscar asks him not to put him in a rough spot, he promised the twins he will keep their secret.
Gaby tells Sarita she saw Andres and he’s doing fine. Sarita saw Oscar, but Gaby doesn’t tell her the real reason he dropped her off. Sarita feels that something’s wrong, but Gaby insists she’s OK.
The guy who was following Gaby reports to Demetrio that things didn’t work out for him. But next time he’ll go to her school and find out where Nino is even if he has to beat the truth out of her. Demetrio gets mad and violent, so the guy asks if he likes her that much. Demetrio says she’s unique, one of a kind, and she’s only his, he has something special planned for her.
It’s night time. The twins noticed JD missed the party the night before, but JD doesn’t want to share where he was. Norma asks them to stop but the twins continue teasing their brother, so JD asks them to butt out and eat. His phone rings, so he has to leave the table in a rush.
Juan asks Erick and Leon why they are bothering JD so much. Norma wants to intervene, but she can’t, as Juan looks rather serious. The boys are upset because he can go wherever he wants, but they can’t even get their tio Oscar to visit. They heard the conversation they had. Juan is happy they did, they will remember it when they are fathers.
Why do you tell Oscar your secrets and not me, what does he have that I don’t?
We trust him, that’s all. Like you trust JD, while you call us rebels.
Yeah, but you’re my rebels, how do I gain your trust?
Stop thinking that we always have bad intentions. Also, you could allow us to go to Nino’s barrio, we want to help him and his family.
Juan agrees, but wants to go with them. The twins asks for him to trust them this time, he can go the next time. Norma smiles.
JD is with Muriel on the phone. They talk about Rosario being nosey and Muriel telling her to mind her own business. They won’t be able to see one another so frequently for now, though. She does understand her mother, she’s been through a lot. JD asks her to tell him if things get hard for her. Mushy exchange about message writing and lovey dovey stuff.
Rosario is singing and dancing. Muriel watches for a while, then goes to her room where Gunther is waiting. She thinks Rosario sent him to spy on her, but he says he only wants to talk to her. He will not betray her, he knows all of the Caballeros secrets. Muriel doesn’t trust him, but Gunther says he only wants to know where to find her in case something goes wrong. Gunther asks her not to be too trusting with people, like JD for example. He knows he’s a good guy, but she can’t trust him completely. Even if he’s not dangerous himself, he could bring danger to her. And he doesn’t want to say more out of discretion. He loves her, he doesn’t want her to get hurt. Muriel asks Gunther to leave her room.
Jimena asks Oscar to come to bed. What has he been up to all day? He says he spent some time with the twins and then with Gaby, some guy on a moto was following her – probably one of the vandals who attacked Sarita’s ranch the other night. He saw him, too, Gaby didn’t just imagine it. He thinks Nino might be involved, since those guys were following him first. Jimena is worried Nino will complicate Gaby’s life, especially since she wants to help him.
Adan and some other guy talk about some woman that is not to be trusted, it’s Romina. He doesn’t like her anymore, she even threatened him with a knife. She’s a tramp. But if she does something shady he will go to Oscar and Jimena and tell them everything.
The next day Juan looks afraid, keeps searching for something or someone all over the house. He opens a door to find Norma and Albin having sex … and that’s how we know he’s having a nightmare. He wakes up startled, Norma kisses him, asks him to relax. He thinks he was wrong allowing the twins to go in search of Nino.
Sarita and her kids are having breakfast together. She’s happy Andres is home, she respects his work, but don’t forget your family, ok? Gaby’s a little distracted, the twins call her asking to call Nino and tell him are going to his place and would like to meet. After they hang up, they put some boxes in their car and leave.
JD and Norma have breakfast together. They talk about Juan not going with the twins because they didn’t want him to. Norma says he’s not doing OK, he’s sleeping badly, he’s always nervous, and she’s worried. Juan comes over, pours himself some coffee and refuses to have breakfast with them. He has to train some horses, can JD come with him? The two men leave, Juan barely acknowledges Norma.
Don Martin is sad the twins left. Quintina says he went to help Gaby’s friend. Don M says he had a dream with the boys, they were on a bridge, and a lot of wild animals were surrounding them.
JD comes to ask for his prescription pad (I think). Don M ants to go see the horses, JD promises to come get him later.
The twins are in the car planning how to go about their meeting with Nino. They want to find out if Adela is still around, they wonder if they might even know the blackmailer and not realize it.
Rosario notices that Muriel’s car is very dirty, wonders where she could have been. Gunther supposes it was some ranch, offers to wash it, but Rosario has something else for him to do. She goes back inside, wonders if maybe one of the dancers is dating Muriel. Panchita doubts it, thinks Rosario should trust her more – worry about her, but let her breathe some.
Oscar has come to take Gaby to school. He says it’s his duty, asks if she told Sarita anything. She says no, her family is unaware she is being followed. Inside the house Sarita wonders why Oscar is here again, last night he came and didn’t even come inside. She goes to talk to them.
Gaby is telling Oscar the twins left to see Nino, Juan even allowed them. Oscar wonders how they managed that. Sarita arrives, Oscar greets her, but he’s in a hurry, he came to talk to Gaby and he’s taking her to school. Sarita asks what’s the deal, what are they hiding her? Oscar evades the question, says San Marcos is very dangerous these days. Juan asked him to stay away from the boys, if she wants him to stay away from her kids, too… Sarita denies this, thanks him for his care and Gaby adds Oscar only wanted to know about the twins.
Muriel is in her room, remembering her night of passion with JD and then Gunther’s warning about the danger surrounding JD.
He’s at home talking to his mother about Juan. He always thought he was such a strong capable man, he’s afraid his brothers’ situation is tormenting him. Norma says that being a parent is very difficult, she sometimes wonders if she is doing the right things. JD thinks she is doing OK, but thinks the twins might be hiding something about Nino’s family.
Erick and Leon are in the barrio, looking for Adela.
At his place, Nino is waiting for them, Gaby warned him. He’s not happy they’re coming, his Abuelo reminds him they helped when they needed it the most and now it’s his turn to show his gratitude.
Oscar is trying to convince Gaby to tell the cops she’s being followed; she doesn’t have to involve Nino, if she doesn’t want to. Gaby is grateful for his help, mentions how Sarita has a word: when God doesn’t give you children, the Devil gives you nephews. She feels that she’s being a headache. Oscar says he’s happy to do it, she’s family, but she has to be careful. She’s more worried for Nino, dangerous people are after him.
Rosario is in Muriel’s room, trying to open her closet. She asks Blanca what she could have in there besides clothes. Blanca comes with a badge that was found in Muriel’s car after it was cleaned – Rosario looks at it and sees that it belongs to Juan David Reyes.
First thank you, Juanita, for a great (as usual) Tuesday recap. A big thank you to novelera for filling in. Quick and dirty but satisfying.
I’m feeling for Zehra, too. I’m loving how she’s protecting her daughter while Miran is clueless. I just can’t take Zehra’s expressions. Director? I also find some of the dubbing for Zehra irritating.
We caught a glimpse of how Dilsah shoulda coulda been. We even saw her dance a bit. Too bad the inside doesn’t match the new outside.
No bangs Miran! Just need to work on the angry part now.
The dance is the Reyhani.
Poor Lutfu got rejected by Asiye. Why is she so sour? What little I saw, he seemed to be a very good dancer.
Hazar certainly is gracious towards Mahfuz. That’s nice to see.
Reyyan continues to be a medical mystery.
Those were bullets that Cihan dropped in the bowl.
I think Fusun noticed the wedding pic on the floor after Gonul left the room and she won’t let it go.
Please let Azat and Gonul make the great escape from Midyat. This whole thing is ridiculous. We’re not talking about a pair of 15 year olds running off together.
Novelera, thank you so much for an excellent recap.
I am again confused . Was this big old wedding for bangless Mir and are planned ? Since I only have the visual because don't understand what be dialogue , it seemed so odd to see Mir and Rey celebrate Gonul and Azat's tiny , low-key wedding followed by Mir and Rey's extravaganza. Also, how many months along is Rey supposed to be? I didn't even notice a tiny bump in the frothy, meringue wedding gown . I do love the Turkish wedding dance . The first I ever saw was Engin dancing with his buds in "La Hija. ." Rey and Mir are excellent dance partners. A very sensual dance .
Mafmoud was looking fine.
Dilsah all dolled up , but looking sneakyevil.
I suppose that the " flowers and chocolates" comment refers to the Turkish tradition of The groom bringing flowers and chocolate to the bride when he and his family go to her home to have coffee made by the bride and ask for her hand in marriage .
Excellent recap Adriana, thank you my friend! You captured it all!
This was a frustrating episode for me but it was nice to see Oscar show up the next morning to take Gaby to school even if it was beyond ridiculous that he kept the truth from Sara! That isn't the type of secret you keep! Added to the ridiculousness is that he told Jimena! So she isn't going to tell her sister? It's like he is determined to be the 'trusted' one and he keeps secrets so he can feel special. He's too old to act that way especially with Gaby's safety at stake!!!
I was surprised but I actually felt for Eric when he said he didn't trust his dad because dad only trusted JD and just sees him as an untrustworthy rebel. It doesn't acknowledge at all his own part to play in the dynamic but he is probably too young and immature to see his own hand in it. Deserved or not it's a fair point, and you can see how it affects him being in JD's shadow.
Splendid recap, Adriana!
The whole Romina storyline is starting to be slightly tiring. The only thing me and her agree on is that Jimena will/should leave Óscar when she finds out the truth. (If this sounds odd to you, you might have missed my thought process/reasoning on the Óscar thing in my previous post. I talked on and on and I concluded with: "I lowered my standards because of telenovela logic. If this happend irl I wouldn't have forgiven him. If we let the illogical logic of telenovelas aside, I agree with Darcy and (was it Adriana? I think so.)." Should have specified that from the start, actually...
Demetrio is simply, a psychopath.
Ghoulish Gunther is here again. I was so happy when I saw him. NOT.
Lol, I can imagine Darcy's reaction when Rosario saw JD's badge. It must have went like: Wow, so unexpected, I definitely didn't predict that 5.000.000.000 years ago. XD
