Mi fortuna es amarte #74 Thursday 6/9/22 Stupidity Reigns

Princess Juju was unable to join us, so here is little bit of this and that from last night.

--Chole reads Olga the riot act.   If she hears that she is bothering Natalia, she is out.

--Chente thought that Granny Magos was delirious from the anesthesia talking about a novio. She tells him that Heliiodoro  ended up being the joy of her mornings and her nights . . . those nights! Chente is visibly uncomfortable and says she doesn't have to say anymore.  She makes it clear that she is not going to be pulling any old man's oxygen tank for him. Since Heliodoro  is younger,  Chente is worried he could be taking advantage of her. No way! She likes her men strong and vigorous so they can keep up with her. Chente is worried about his intentions. Granny Magos doesn't take too kindly to that and wonders who asked him for his opinion anyway??? or his permission???

--Granny Magos has Heliodoro running a mystery errand. It involves him having brought her some papers from her home. She is going to get together with him tomorrow to look them over and then she wants him to go back to their town and take care of business ASAP. It is urgent.

--Chente is still all shook up having dreams and nightmares about Natalia.

--Vale invites Mario to spend the night. He refuses saying he wants to take things more slowly.

THE PARTY:

--Omar asks for Andrea's hand in marriage. Of course she accepts.

--2XJosé comes all decked out in the style of his neighborhood. Regina asks him why he came dressed like that. Everyone notices him and makes snide comments about his clothes. Claudio assures Adrián that he will take care of 2XJosé. He manages to sideline 2XJosé (who doesn't drink)  and guilts him into having a celebratory shot for his appointment as ambassador to Germany.  2XJosé is easily encouraged to drink more and once drunk and his inhibitions are  gone, he tells everyone off for how they have treated him and is branded a persona non grata by all.

Connie talks Tavo into getting back together so she can more easily adopt a child.

Natalia gets "schnookered" into helping Adrián who is evidently running a fever due to an infection and takes him to the hospital to get checked out.  It is the least she can do since he got shot defending  her.

SEVERAL WEEK TIME JUMP

Regina talks to Natalia about  having the final rehearsal for her quince.  She wants nothing to do with 2XJosé at the quince.  He will NOT be a chambelán.

Chente lectures a still despondent 2XJosé about staying away from alcohol and being the best he can be when 2X says he wants to leave the prep school he is attending. He is all broken up about Regina. 2X adds  that  that maybe Chente should follow his own advice about alcohol considering the mess  he got into with Olga after drinking too much.

--Omar and Andrea find out that the baby is a boy.

--Ben never wants to miss  Natalia and wonders why Chente is never  when she comes around to cook with JuanGa.

--Connie stops by Chole's asking if she knows who the father of the baby is. She suspects that it could belong to many men. Chole says it can only be Tavo since she never cheated on him like others did (aka Connie) . . . Connie calls her a slut anyway and informs her that Tavo came begging for her to take him back. Chole tells her that now she sees that Tavo is just as rotten as she is.

--Natalia is living at Adrián's. He says he could have lost his life to the infection he picked up. He thanks Natalia for taking care of him all of this time. Natalia wants the divorce. He wants her to rethink it and maybe salvage their marriage. He wants the chance to win her heart. If things do not work, then they can get a divorce and go their own way.  He goes to kiss her but  she is saved by the  bell.  SURPRISE!  it is Vero who had to see it for her own eyes when she heard that Natalia was living with Adrián again. She knows she has been there precisely for two weeks. To Natalia's wonder, she asks  how she is getting her info but Vero isn't talking.  She suggests that Adrián will be real good at "buying" her back.   Natalia says she isn't for sale. Vero says he is really poor at buying gifts but she on the other hand, she  isn't. She waves to a minion who brings in a huge bouquet of yellow roses. Natalia calls for Adrián and starts to leave. He insists that she stay because Vero has  no business being there. Natalia answers that since his lover is back, she can take care of him. Adrián tries to get her to change her mind.  Vero laughs at it all and says she must have mistakenly arrived early.  Adrián doesn't know what she is talking about. She understood that Natalia wasn't going to be home so she would never know. Adrián says it is a lie. He grabs Vero's arm and tells her to get out. She warns him to to treat her that way.  He tells her she is the worst mistake he made in his life and pushes her out of the door. Natalia tells Adrián that she remembers the same yellow roses that filled their home with bitterness the night he left. She remembers throwing the roses on the floor after reading his letter and feeling so humiliated and mocked. Adrián only  wants to start fresh and heal all the old wounds. She picks up a rose and tears off the petals. She asks him to tell her what is left of the rose to be able to flower again. This is all that is left of their love and 20 years of marriage. It is just a stem with thorns. She throws it on the  table.

CLOSING SCENE:

--Olga calls out to Chente on the street. She says she has been feeling sort of sick lately. She went to the doctor and they did a bunch of tests. He asks what is wrong with her. Olga doesn't want to jump the gun as to a diagnosis. . . Chente says he doesn't understand. She assures him that he will. He hopes it is nothing serious. She says she hopes it won't be serious for him, anyway and walks away. Chente is left looking concerned.

FIN

Comments:
Last night left me wanting to hit Chente, Natalia, Adrián, Tere, Claudio, Regina, Andrea, Elías, Samia, 2XJosé, Vero, Connie, and Tavo all upside the head. What a crew! We need more scenes with only Granny Magos, Heliodoro and Ben.

I am of the opinion that Chente should let Granny go home and take Benjamin with her for a while until he can get Vulga out of the way, but he still doesn't really know about how she had been abusing the child.

We don't have enough episodes left for the birth of her hellspawn, but doesn't anyone realize that they can do a DNA test almost right now? Between Simba and Adrian I don't care who sired it, but if everybody believes that intelligence is genetic, Vulga should hope it was Adrian.

Andrea and Omar need to prepare themselves for a custody battle with his father. Not sure whose side Samia would be on at this point.

Claudio will have hell to pay for not only getting 2xJose drunk but what is he going to do when anyone finds out that he will not become ambassador to anyplace, let alone Germany?

Jarifa, thanks for the recap . These people are hopeless .

Pppepeppe. Pppepppe looked so cute minus his ever present cap, but i am not a fan of the blue streaks in his hair . I guess he is following Juanna' s example . Claudio is despicable for pushing the booze on him . We have been getting lots of PSAs about demon drink .

I hope that bouquet of yellow roses is an indication that Adrian is next on Ver's hit list . I hope that those two tame each other down.

Tavo should just go back to miserable Con. He doesn't deserve sweet Con.

Heliodoro is muy smiley as he gazes at Abuela. Okay . Whatever. She would Not want a grumpy old man.

"Take each other down ".../I don't think anything can tame either of them .

Jarifa, thank you so much for this wonderful recap. Did you do this from memory? Wonderful either way.

Let’s start with the very little dusting of sweet. “We need more scenes with only Granny Magos, Heliodoro and Ben”. Yes, yes. I was smiling as broadly as Ben watching Dona Magos and Heliodoro. I could have watched them the rest of the night.

If only it had ended there.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the dumbest Pérez of them all? Chente wears the crown but “Pppepeppe. Pppepppe” (perfect Susanlynn) has fallen hard. And mightily. Only JuanGa is absolved as he is the most responsible of them all. Who’d have thought??

I had a case of whiplash from the unbelievable, unspeakable actions of most last night. “Connie talks Tavo into getting back together so she can more easily adopt a child”. Tavo deserves everything he is getting (Conz) and everything he is not (Chloe and his child). As Carlos used to say “next”. I’m done.

Claudio is scum.

Good heavens, that party. The pretense, the snobbery, the cringeworthy toasts. Natalia tried valiantly but there was no life, no vitality – utterly devoid of any happiness save perhaps for the unborn child (and Omar).

Yep, Natalia hasn’t suffered enough so let’s bring back Vero. I was shocked she had such nerve and while Adrian says he hates her, I’m starting to wonder if she will work her “wiles” (such as they are) once again. Putrid.

Urban, did Elias say he is going to sue for custody? If so I missed that.

Adrian really didn’t look well. Too bad Natalia took him to the hospital.

Well, no mind readers necessary to try and figure out what Olga’s next step is. I hope that the baby is Simba’s.

Judy, sending you sunshine and hugs today.

Jarifa, thank you, thank you! This was great.

Diana

Thanks, Jarifa.

2XJose is supposed to be the smartest of the brothers, but he's so easy to get off track.

I agree that 2xJose is the smartest. Why is the middle sibling usually the dumbest?

Diana, When Elias found out that Andrea was pregnant he decided to disown Omar and assume custody of the baby if it's his (DNA test required) and if it's a boy. Omar is an only child, so this would then become Elias' only grandchild. Taking custody would be all about controlling the upbringing.

Urban, thanks. I do remember that but I didn't think he was still planning on going through with it. I thought he was trying to make amends. Silly me.

Diana

Jarifa, What you again?   :-)   :-)

Thank you for stepping in to recap this episode, it is very much appreciated. I hope Princess Juju's family obligations are going OK. "Real Life" can really suck sometimes.

I was busy with other things last night and did not get a chance to see this episode so I am doubly glad for your recap. I know telenovelas like to stretch things out. There must be economic reasons for that, longer telenovelas must have a better return or are more saleable, but this particular novela should have been seriously cut.

As Susanlynn said, "These people are hopeless." That pretty much sums up how I feel at this point.

I am especially annoyed with Tavo. He is no 'spring chicken' and spent some 20 years in a loveless marriage being Constanzantly belittled. (I know, I know, forgive me!)

You would think he would cling to the chance for some happiness late in life with Chole, at least talk to her, but no!
I give up on him.

PepePepe I will give a pass. He has been a good and intelligent young guy throughout this tale. Most guys at this stage of life are one short step from the abyss. Recent studies suggest that the human brain does not mature until the mid-twenties. In the case of boys I think this is because once puberty hits all brain development stops for several years and the guys just function on hormonal energy, mostly.
It should be a felony to give a boy more than a small amount of alcohol, and then only with strict adult supervision.

Another male/female difference is in later years. There was recently a spate of articles about widowed women looking for companionship, but without serious commitment. (Oh, the hussies! :)
It makes perfect sense, they don't want to become caretakers for the old coots in a short time as men tend to all sorts of health problems in old age, considerably more so than women. It's one thing with a lifelong partner, another thing with a short-timer. Think Magos and Heliodoro.

But anyway, PP gets a pass from me, and Claudio should be arrested. Of all the people in the world Claudio should certainly know the dangers of alcohol for young guys.

Forgive me, folks, but I watched the televised hearing last night instead of telenovelas, and I was mightily impressed, but also put into a funk.
I'm thinking of moving to Mexico.

Andy

Thanks so much, Jarifa for the wonderful recap. Best part of the episode for me was Granny Magos and Heliodoro. So she likes her men younger and strong. Their relationship is so sweet. We need to see more of them together. He sure is smitten with her. AND, I wonder what they're up to with the paperwork and the secret mission. I hope we get to see them together again soon.

As for the rest of the people in this novela, ugh, I agree with Susanlynn, they are totally hopeless.

Heartsings

Heartsings...yes, utterly hopeless .
Ps. Love your name !

Thanks, Jarifa, great recap of a frustrating episode. I have to agree with several of you, Granny Magos, Heliodoro and Benja are the bright spots. Everyone else deserves to live with their stupid mistakes. Adrian almost had Natalia back, for several weeks anyway. He could have hired a nurse. The girls probably think their parents are back together.

I wonder what Chente will do when he finds out about the baby! Hoping Veronica stirs things up and opens some eyes. But most of the cast seems hopeless right now. Tavo was miserable with Connie but then goes back with her. Claudio basically got 2xJose drunk, just kept pouring him drinks. But 2xJose told it like it is. Regina should see that. I think Elias plans to influence his grandson to be like him. I’m hoping he’ll be in jail when the baby is born.
Liz

Andy, so much I wanted to cut and paste but "Constanzantly belittled. (I know, I know, forgive me!)" made me laugh the hardest.

2XJose has me irked but I still like him very, very much. I expected better but he is a young kid maliciously led astray by oxygen waster Claudio. Further, was what he said to everyone SO bad that Regi has banished him from her quince "court"? Have fun with Lorenzo. Sigh.

Diana

Andy, wow, great comments, and I am agreeing with everything you said.

I dated teenage boys and taught many , many . When you teach in a senior high school, you are only 4 years older than the kids, sometimes less. It is an interesting situation. You are right. Teen boys are like hormones in sneakers.

As for older men\ women , I have come to see that most of the ladies around me have either lost their soulmates or are their caretakers. All my sweet Hub's friends have health problems . As for dating again after losing your spouse , if you've had steak , you really dont want hamburgers to quote Paul Newman. Better maybe to just have a nice lunch out with old friends and good memories.

I once read that girl babies are programmed to live 7 years longer than boys. There's the math.

Thanks, all, for stopping on by.

I couldn’t believe Natalia was still at Adrián’s. Evidently, she suffers from an inappropriate amount of guilt just like Chente!!!! They will be a match made in heaven!

Diana, yes. I loved that particular gem , too.
Thank you , Andy, we need some smiles and laughs.

I was waiting till you all got to see Tavo screwing up because when I saw it, I couldn't believe it. And I thought telenovelas I saw as a teen were bad in this respect. I might have to take it back. What is the whole point? He obviously does nnot trust women after having lived with that witch. But Cholie never gave him a reason to doubt her. Why is it that in his head it's more likely that he cheated than that Con was lying? I have to say that even at the end of this tn, I could not believe this was one of the 'good guys' pairings. Natalia calling her teenage daughter and later saying she didn't want to take part in that pedido de mano dinner was a bit odd. I can usually tolerate this sort of drama but there's something about Natalia's character that gets on my nerves. Regina makes me cringe too. I don't know why, but for me to like her'I'm a good teenage girl' personality, she would have to be either more dramatic or there should be a reason why she is so annoyingly 'good girl'. Her being unwilling to forgive Adrian is somehow the only thing I like because she feels more real. I love the actress who plays Constanza, though. It's a pity she's crazy because at least she can go far whereas the good guys just get tricked byeveryone. At first I quite liked Nat and Chente, mainly because the good guys were failing to separate them a few episodes ago and in my experience this is rare. I sometimes wonder what Mexican women think about the situations shown in these tns. Why would they portray a romance between Cholie and Tavo as a final happy ending when he he doesn't trust her at all? And the whole 'you must have this baby' plot linewas annoying too. Natalia calling Chente all sorts of names was a bit much for me.So with all those... um graphic details, I'm guessing there's no 'nothing happened, he was tricked' resolution here.

I've been waiting till all of you got to see Tavo ruining his chances because I couldn't believe it when I saw the episode. How are viewers supposed to even want for those two to end up together now? Both Natalia and Regina irritate me aswell.Natalia because it just seemed so strange she'd call her daughter after learning Chente slept with Olga. Regina is a teenager. There's something a bit strange about Natalia. She insists Andrea should absolutely have the baby but at the same time it seemed shehad no idea how to support her. I bet Constanza found so easy to manipulate Andrea because Natalia and Andrea don't have the sort of relationship where Andrea would know Natalia wouldn't start the whole 'no abortion' rant.I quite liked Natalia and Chente at first, becauseit was funny to watch Olga insisting Chente was the one who kissed her and Natalia not believing her. In my experience it's rare. But now it seems we aren't getting the usual 'nothing happened' resolution. But I can't believe the creators thought people would like these sorts of resolutions. Neither Mario/Valentina, nor Cholie/Tavo seem like a good match to me.Regina being the good sister/daughter irritates me to no end. I think because unlike with Paloma from En nombre del amor, who is the good girl I'm most familiar with, there's something about Regina's sweetness that feels overdone. The only thing I like about her is that she does not want to forgive Adrian. I like the actress who plays Constanza, though. It's such a pity that only the evil ones get to be smart. I just get the sense the creators included some problematic lines in this tn and didn't care. But maybe things are different in Mexico. The way someSpanish-speaking women comment on these telenovelas makes me wonder if they realise they miss some stuff. I remember one of them saying I was lying when I criticised a galan specifically for what I said. I know I understood that part enough to know I was right. But it can be frustrating when some people just like the pairing and dislike even fair criticism towards the galan they prefer. This got quite long, but I just wanted to wait till these rather interesting scenes to comment.

I was furious with Natalia when she told Andrea to have the baby. She had no more right to do that than Omar would have, especially in view of their circumstances. I can't imagine Andrea going to college now.

I think Regina's goodness is such a contrast to Andrea's nastiness that it looks more exaggerated than it is.

Urban, glad I'm not the only one who was angry with Nat.xWhenever the topic of pregnancy comes up in these cases, the factthe girl will have to give up her education is somehow the first thing I think about. I don't know why this didn't occur to me in Andrea's case. Maybe because she does not seem to think about it herself. But somebody has to, and here that someone should have been Natalia before she went on on that 'baby is a blessing' rant. I think this is why she irritates me so- there's this view of her as a great mother figure whereas I don't see it. I remember wondering if she even remembered Regina signed up to take an entrance exam when Regina came back after taking it. I feel if it wasn't for the actress, I'd dislike Natalia even more. She had some nice words for Chente and I wonder if she won't have to take them back because it's pretty hard to be worse than Adrian. i just watched an interview with a wife of a ballet dancer and she bragged about how she spent all day with her kids and then studied for her masters at night. She clearly was trying to portray herself as such a busy and capable woman, but all I could think about was that I felt sorry for her and that there was no way I'd sacrifice my sleep if I could help it. Your comment about Andrea and college reminded me of that interview. Doubt Andrea would manage something like that!
