OT
Univisión has been announcing that Los Ricos También Lloran will start “muy pronto!” Seems that it may replace “Mujer de Nadie” and will likely start in September.
First of all, thanks RGV Chick for the information regarding Los Ricos También Lloran! I'll check out its Wikipedia page. I hope it doesn't contain spoilers!
I just wanted to ask, how is JudyB doing? Does anyone know if she's getting better?
I was just reading Wikipedia's articles about the Premios TuMundo Awards (I really miss those) and I saw that there were different awards for telenovelas and something called "súper series". I tried googling the difference, found zero results. Does anyone know the difference? This is driving me crazy...
Weirdo, thanks for asking about JudyB. Last time I "talked" to her she was starting to walk! So I can safely say that she is still progressing...slowly but surely :-)
My best guess as to what a superserie is-- a TN that has several "temporadas" such as "El Señor de los Cielos" and "Señora Acero".
Have a splendid day, everyone!
So Judy is progressing! That's great news! I hope she recovers soon!
I think you're right about súper series, because El Señor de los Cielos is listed as one. Thanks!
Yet it's possible that Univision might move this Telenovela in the Daytime slots (1:00 PM CST & 2:00 PM CST).
It seems like today is the day for OT posts and unfortunately mine is less. My mother has been unwell for awhile now but she has taken a turn for the worse in the last couple weeks. The doctors now believe she will only be with us for another month or two. My mother lives in California and I am in Kansas and I am going to have to work it out with my boss to be able to go back out and spend more time with my mom and with my family. I am not going to be able to continue recapping Mujer or Herencia at this time and I am not sure how much I will be around for awhile but I won't disappear completely. I love reading this blog and sharing adventures in novela land with all of you.
I also didn't watch Mujer last night, so I can't help with the highlights; but I bet there was lying, screaming and crying!
From Wikipedia (full of spoilers)
-- Lucía finds out that her mother's death certificate does not exist.
-- Pablo insults Pilar during lunch and Gabino slaps him.
-- Michelle gives Alfredo the money she found in her brother's bedroom.
-- Isaura questions Alejandra about her relationship with Alicia, but she evades her. -- --
-- Juventino extends his help to his sister Gertrudis.
-- Silvia informs Casilda that Leonardo wants to continue sleeping with her.
-- Lucía and Fernando question the reasons why their families oppose their relationship, later, they go out for a swim in the river to consummate their love.
-- Alejandra questions Claudia about her relationship with Diego.
-- Pilar finds out that Leonardo entered the room with one of the girls.
-- Silvia asks Casilda to reveal her identity to Leonardo, but she refuses for fear of losing what she is living.
Juju, don't worry. The above is enough when we have those issues.
Darcy, take care of your mother and yourself. Just tell us the nights you have covered so we can make adjustments.
It seems where we have reached a point in the story where it's not all strawberries and cream anymore. Sebastián is adamant, he wants nothing more to do with Diego. Meh, we'll see.
Well, perhaps to make up for that the Closed Captioning in this novela is finally giving a precious few hints as to who is speaking! (Mumble, grumble, Univisión cheapskates!)
Actually, I don't worry about Sebastián and Diego, but I have been bummed out a bit by Gonzalo. Gonzalo is one of my favorite characters in this novela, for no particular reason that I can think of, but he has been upsetting me lately because he is still carrying the torch for Andrea and this is making poor Helena miserable. Andrea probably enjoys it, it makes her vengeance complete.
OTOH, she did save the day for Helena when she started to call "Mayo Reynoso". So she done good :-)
Andrea is the main character and the linchpin of the novela, but she is complicated, and whether her good side or her bad side will prevail on any particular day is anybody's guess.
Sofía wears more leather than a gaggle of dominatrices. Looks really good, though.
Uh, oh. Diego told Katya that he broke up with his girlfriend and he no longer has to be faithful to her. Now what???
Back to more fun with doña Maty who called Tyler "Tráiler" and then "Boiler", and I'm not sure what else. But she played him like a champ, and Boiler promised her her casita on the beach, and I'll bet it's not going to be a pobre casita. Andrea is so much fun when she makes faces and she made lots of them listening to all this :-)
Andrea also added to my vocabulary of, um, questionable words with "canija", especially the meanings particular to Mexico. Busy day for Andrea :-)
AND I just realized that René has been using it with Tyler and vice versa. There's quite a lot I don't get right away.
Now Zulema is throwing herself at Tyler. All the women want Tyler. Lucky guy.
Andy
Rgv Chick, thank you for the good news that Judy is progressing. It does take time, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Darcy, I'm very sorry to hear of your family problems. My best wishes for you and for your mother.
Andy
Thank you, Urban for the highlights!
Darcy, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she lives more than two months. There have been cases of patients living way past the time the doctors gave them. This happened to me with my pet Kitriniki. Long story short, the vets gave her two weeks and she lived for 5 YEARS after that! Might have been a stupid example because she was a canarin, but this happens with humans too. I hope she defies the odds and lives for years. I'll be sending good vibes. I might not the best person to reassure someone, since I'm a bit awkward when it comes to feelings, but I really hope your mom stays with you.
Darcy, I just saw this so forgive my late comment.
Will be praying for your mother, for you and all of your family. As you move through this impossible time, may you find strength, resolve and courage in each other.
We will miss your marvelous recaps and comments and will be here awaiting your return.
God bless.
Diana
"Andrea is the main character and the linchpin of the novela, but she is complicated, and whether her good side or her bad side will prevail on any particular day is anybody's guess". Well stated Andy.
So, Andrea is, in truth, a grifter. Granted, a sometimes good one, but one nevertheless.
I know there have been a few instances where the main character is far from a heroine. Rubi comes immediately to mind who was poisonous and quite evil. Andrea seems to be shaded in gray, which is interesting. I don't see she and Gonzalo together at all but haven't seen nearly enough to render an opinion. Helena seems a bit too long suffering but again, I'm in no position to judge.
"Diego told Katya that he broke up with his girlfriend and he no longer has to be faithful to her. Now what???" And also, why? Seems a bit cruel that Katya is still in the dark (with everyone else apparently).
I give you and SpanProf credit for following this with such a long list of characters. I don't think I could have done it even if I watched nightly. It is fun to peek in on occasionaly though.
Diana
Diana, something I meant to respond to and didn't get to: "The actor playing Rene was so hot in other TNs and especially Pantera, I have a hard time reconciling the unappealing sleaze I see here (unless I'm missing something in the 58 minutes I don't see)."
Well, I'll leave to you to decide if he has ever been "hot", but here he has definitely been sleazy and naco (I remember learning this word in Sin tu mirada and it has served as a great Caray put-down word ever since :-) but this show does like to play with the characters. René has been somewhat decent several times now, so he is not a totally lost cause. He seems to be in love with Andrea, and she has feelings for him, but she used to love Gonzalo, and fell in love with Tyler the first time she saw him. Simple, right? :-)
SpanProf, yeah, Isis made the case that Viiyéri has grown up. Bonifacio did say he wanted his little girl back, but that's understandable and I think he will get over it eventually. Viiyéri is very much into Brandon; Brandon is very much into Brandon.
Andy
SpanProf, I had to look up Bonifacio and the other character you mentioned. If I have seen the actors, I know who to look for. Alas, neither of the names mean anything to me but I will keep youor tidbit in mind.
Andy, I'm surprised (but a bit relieved) Rene isn't a total rogue. I do get the sense of jealousy from both he and Andrea but it seems more on his part - could be totally wrong. I have memories of him being so devoted and handsome from Lo que la vida me robó and that is the visage I have in my head.
Juan Soler seems nice but does nothing for me. Andrea is welcome to him. Why can't Gonzalo be happy with Helena?? I know, I know. Itatí Cantoral has never looked as beautiful as she does here (IMHO) and I understand the irresistibility. That doesn't excuse it though :)
Diana
Diana, this is good for you, it will help keep your brain limber trying to understand a telenovela by watching only the last two minutes of each episode :-)
Bonifacio is the big, heavy guy with the hair and bushy beard. He is a revolutionary Marxist, at least in spirit, and likes to denounce 'yanqui imperialismo' whenever he can. But he's really a very nice guy and owns an internet café. He's married to hippie-dippy spiritualist Isis, and their daughter is Viiyéri, a young woman around 18 or so, who hangs out with Katya, Andrea's daughter.
Viiyéri is artistic and designs and makes artistically fashionable clothing; she wants to study in Europe and the money she makes from Andrea is going towards that.
Andrea was Gonzalo's first true love and they planned to marry roughly 20 years ago. Then he met Helena and married her instead; he has given two versions of why this happened, but Andrea believes he did not want to marry someone so poor as she was.
Unknown to Gonzalo, as yet, he is Katya's real father.
It took me a long time to get all the characters straight. There are a lot of them! And each has a story, which works well as there are 127 episodes so everybody gets his or her screen time.
I agree that Andrea (Itatí Cantoral) is beautiful here, but she was as well in the 2010 Hasta que el dinero nos separe playing against Pedro Fernández.
I love all the characters in this novela, and it's impossible to pick just one as most outstanding, but one who must be considered is Jacqueline Andere who plays doña Maty, Tyler's supposed mother. She was about 80 or 81 when she did this part, and she's a hoot! She's also the mother of Chantal Andere, who was Constanza in MFEA.
Andy
Darcy, I am so sorry. I'm sending up prayers for your mother. She is blessed to have you and your family giving her love and support. Take care.
Andy, thank you. I now know who Bonifacio is. He seems like such a character. Gruff but nice. And after googling the actress playing Viiyéri, I see she is Daniela Alvarez whom I really liked in Diseñando tu amor (I've seen brief flashes of her here and but had no idea about who her character is).
Very interesting that Gonzalo married Helena rather than Andrea. I assumed she broke up with him. And they have a daughter. That makes me more sympathetic to Andrea at least for the moment. I'm sure there is an interesting stroy behind the change of heart.
I'll try to catch a bit more of this when I can. I'm going to take notes so hopefully will be able to pick up a bit more than I have until now.
It was so kind of you to post all this. I really appreciate it - thank you!!
Diana
Ahhhh, very good SpanProf. Thank you for explaining why Gonzalo chose Helena. But Helena seems very nice (unless I'm missing something) and she certainly loves him. Sorry I missed the punching scene. Gonzalo seems to be chasing a ghost. He may still be besotted but it seems likely he dropped off Andrea's romance radar years ago. His beingg Katya's father is an important complication though.
Not sure why Rene and Zulema are engaged? I vaguely recall interactions between Zulema and Rene and they weren't all romantic.
Diana
Didn't watch, but I found some information from a website:
• Lucía opens her mother's grave and finds it empty.
• Casilda admits to Leonardo that he had intimate moments with her, not Silvia.
• Carlos realizes that somebody stole his money.
• Lucía wants to leave her aunt's house. Ale doesn't want her to leave and she admits that she's her real mother, just like we predicted!
Sounds like a strong episode! I'm sorry I didn't watch. But I'm currently busy as I can be, so no time to watch :(
Steve, I don't think Niece will recap, I'm not sure if she even watches the show. If she IS recapping, however, I'll delete my comment later.
Weirdo: I see that Maury Povich made an appearance with the MIC DROP revealing Alejandra as Lucia's biological mother.
Waiting to see the aftermath of this tonight: I think it means Casilda (who's got a creepy obsession with Leonardo) & Lucia are half-sisters.
Busy day today and I didn't get a chance to comment before this. SpanProf, "The sly Rene was able to use the kiss between Zulema and Tyler to get exactly what he wanted--out of his engagement to Zulema."
Yes! Absolutely! Sly René had me laughing the whole time, especially later, back at the finca where he cried and went through a box of tissues. Everybody was sympathetic and all the women gave him sympathy hugs.
Meanwhile he was doing a happy dance in his head, he was freed from having to marry Zulema!
Diana, I forget exactly why he and Zulema got engaged, but it was to cover up for some gaffe made in front of Tyler. He thought he could fairly easily get out of the engagement but then doña Maty, who likes Zulema, wanted them to have a double wedding and Tyler was going to foot all the expenses and René was in a fix and didn't know how to get out of it until this one big kiss essentially made him a free man again! :-)
"And the writers tease us with the possibility of Andrea's telling Tyler her true identity since he really loves her."
Yes! Andrea and Tráiler have a little talk and he admits that if she were not his sister he would ask her to marry him without hesitation. Of course, we know she is not his sister, but Andrea can't say so because she is setting him up for the big swindle.
Andrea is just wonderful in these closeups, her facial expressions and her eyes looking directly into someone else's eyes to gauge the truth of what is said and not said. Killer stuff.
Andrea falters for just a second or two, but then says that it would be best for both of them to find someone else to love. More killer stuff!
I love this novela!
